2. Introduction to test screening in the film industry
The film industry spends relatively huge amounts of money
and time on test screenings of the products to invited
audiences in order to ensure that they have achieved what
they were aiming for, which is to appeal to the target audience
and come out up with an overall successful end product. These
screenings are very often crucial as it will provide them with
feedback that will help them improve their product as well as
making sure that they are on the right track. Once they receive
the feedback from the invited audience they can decide
whether they agree with their opinions and statements or not
and they will make the changes according to how they feel
about it. This process often results in a higher quality product
out in the real world for the target audience to watch.
3. Our own target audience for the teaser trailer
In terms of our audiences target audience, we have
decided that our teaser trailer will be aimed at
mostly male between the ages of 15 and 24 as well
as males aged 55 and above. We have have come to
this conclusion, due to all our research we have done
in our planning and research. From our
research we have found out that the two largest age
group audiences that were mostly interested in
action-thriller movies were the two age groups we
have decided to aim our product for. We have done
our research in this specific genre, because that is
similar to our film idea therefore we believe that if
we have the same target audience our idea can be
successful as well the all the others.
The image above shows the chart we have
looked at for our target audience research.
This chart was very useful as it has gave us
a clear idea on how the different age
groups different in terms of their interest
in the genres in the film industry.
4. How did we receive and use our audience feedback
Pitch presentation feedback:
We have created a pitch presentation for our teaser
trailer idea and we have presented it to our class. We
have received the feedback from each of the other
groups based on how well we have done in their opinions
and what they suggest for possible improvements. This
feedback was extremely useful as we needed to know
whether it was clear for them to know what the teaser
is about and what the narrative and genre is.
Final feedback: The final feedback was done under our final
teaser video uploaded to YouTube in the comment section.
All individuals in our class were required to come up with a
final feedback in the form of a YouTube comment.
The image on the left is a
screengrab from the
pitch presentation and
the screenshot at the
bottom of the page is to

have received by the
individuals in our class to
share their opinions.
5. Rough cut screening feedback
Positive feedback:
- From our feedback we have found out that it wasn't difficult to understand the narrative as well as
the genre of the film therefore we believe that we have done a great job at portraying this throughout
the teaser
- Most of our feedback made it clear that the comedy aspect of our film was successful at coming
across and they have also mentioned that this was one of the strengths of our teaser
- They believed that both the background and colour scheme were quite effective on our magazine
cover
- The character positioning was effective on the Magazine Cover
- We have also received positive comments about the blueprint being the background for the poster
- They have liked the positioning that was going on the poster, most especially the character
positioning
6. Negative feedback:
- The tagline needs improvement, because it isn't as effective as it could be to live up to the film and
the comedy aspect
- They have mentioned that our rough cut teaser was lacking in terms of transitions, we were about
to get around this issue as a group, but we felt that it is better if it's added later on as the last touch
when all is ready
- From our feedback we have found out that our magazine cover was lacking in terms of text and
also the diversity in font type and size as well as the colour for them.
- We have also been suggested that the sound levels need adjustments as when we have added the
soundtrack to the teaser, we have come across with sound level issues as it would make the dialogue
of certain parts of the teaser very loud
- Placement of information on the poster was also not quite impressive, as they though that usually
almost always, people read from top to bottom therefore it would make more sense to swap the
information so that the most important come to the top, this would improve the poster quite a lot.
We as a group have also agreed on this change also.

7. What the final feedback suggests about the success
of our marketing campaign?
From the final feedback given in the
comment section suggests to us that
we were successful with our
marketing campaign. We have been
told that the comedy aspects have
worked well in our teaser trailer and
the unique characters were also
effective at being the USP.
Furthermore we found out that the company ident as well as the sound through out really
suited the genre and theme. We also received final feedback on our magazine cover and the
poster and in their opinion they were both effective as well as the teaser trailer and it was
clear that all the marketing products were for the same film. In conclusion we believe that the
final feedback suggests that we have created a successful and effective marketing campaign.
