WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT
FROM YOUR AUDIENCE
FEEDBACK?
When producing a film you need to try and get a vast audience
which is wide spread to get the maximum profit and viewings.
To do this you need to have an ad campaign that appeals to the
general public and to your target audience which will encourage
them to see the film. Therefore it is important to get audience
feedback when producing the advertisement because then you
know what the audience likes/dislike and what they expect
from your products. Also from gaining feedback you can
improve your products to a higher standard and more people
are likely to buy them which in turn will give the film a wider
reach.
WHY AUDIENCE FEEDBACK IS IMPORTANT
When doing our trailer and ancillary products we tried to get feedback in a
number of ways.
 TRAILER FEEDBACK: For the trailer itself we wanted audience feedback
before we actually produced the product and started filming. This was so
that we knew what our target audience expected to be in the trailer and
how we could get a maximal target audience. It was important we done this
because then we could follow the feedback we received and produced a
trailer based around it. This research was in the form of a
questionnaire, which I produced and distributed via survey monkey.
 TRAILER FEEDBACK: Once we had then created a first draft copy of our
trailer, we uploaded it to YouTube. We then set up screenings in class
which allowed the rest of our class to view our trailer. In order to collect
feedback, we gave out sheets which asked them what they liked, didn’t like
and suggestions for improvement. It also had a rating out of 10, so we
could roughly work out the standard people thought our trailer was at and
the enjoyment level. Once the trailer had finished we then recorded people
giving us feedback aloud, which we took into consideration when
completing the trailer. For our trailer in particular this feedback was
extremely useful because our main target audience was for people below
the age of 25 and for people in their school/ college years. Therefore as all
the feedback we got was from this age range and were students, it was
ideal to hear what they liked and disliked.
HOW WE COLLECTED FEEDBACK
 MAGAZINE/POSTER FEEDBACK: For the magazine cover and
poster I collected feedback in a different format. This time I
produced a questionnaire about them and attached the
finished product to the questionnaire. This was done online
via survey monkey. My questionnaire involved questions such
as ‘would you buy this magazine? Why?’ and ‘What do you
dislike and like about the poster’, etc. This allowed me to
address my potential audience and see what they thought
about my methods of advertisement. Once I gathered the
feedback and I took it all into consideration when perfecting
and finishing my ancillary products. The majority of my
audience feedback will be of the age 18, this is because
that’s my target audience. I presume they will all be students
too.

The video shows the feedback we received from
our classmates about their views on the trailer for
‘Attachment’.
When looking back through the feedback I found a common
theme of what people liked and how they thought our trailer
could be improved. We took this into consideration when
finishing our trailer so that it will appeal to a lot of people.
We had quite a few comments on our choice of inter-
titles. 4 people said that they thought we should
changed the font of them, whilst others thought that
they should be longer.

THE WAYS TO IMPROVE:
Another thing that people said was that we needed
to include quicker shots to go with the change of
mood in the trailer. People also recommended some
more intense and scary music to create and help
build more tension.

People also thought that the spoken dialogue in the

voice so that it would draw people in. Also people
thought that it said the name ‘Jenna’ too much
which lead to it being quite annoying.

Finally some people mentioned about our music in

generally too loud, so it was slightly overpowering.
Also someone said that it ended to suddenly and
that it should have been more of a gradual fade out.

From all the comments, we feel as though this was one of the main
aspects of our trailer and don’t need to make any changes to it.
Other people said how they liked the fact that our
trailer shows a clear change in mood. It begins with
happy upbeat music/ shots but then soon changes to
a dark and eerie atmosphere.

The results show that the average rating was a 8/10 as 10 people
gave us this score. The lowest we got was a 7, so we were
fairly happy with this because it shows that people thought it
was to a high standard and clearly enjoyed it. Also from these
results, it suggests that there isn’t much that we would need to
change from our trailer to make it better because the ratings
were high.
We took into consideration all of the feedback that we gathered and
tried to change our trailer based around this.
Firstly we wanted to change the inter-titles because this is one of the
main things that people thought should be changed. We changed the
font of them, the transition and how long they appear on the screen.
On the inter-title towards the end we changed what said ‘Sturman
productions’ to ‘revenge’ because we thought that it would fit in
better with the atmosphere that we were trying to create.
We then reconsidered out trailer in terms of sound. Firstly, we
reduced the volume slightly and tried to fade the music in more when
the letter starts. We also found some more intense music and added
it into parts of the trailer to make it more scary (e.g. when the knife
appears). We also relined the words ‘stop’ in the letter that was being
read with the clip in the background. When the light flashed on it
said stop and this way it makes it feel more creepy.
We also added an effect on inter-title that said ‘Attachment’ so it
flashes up at the viewer. This was done so its almost like a shock.
Finally we quickened up some of the longer shots to help with the
change in emotion. By doing this the trailer builds up pace and as a
result builds up in suspense.

target audience so I wanted mainly their feedback. I received
more feedback from girls than boys, however this didn’t affect
my results. I will take all the feedback into consideration.

I thought it would be a good idea to ask them whether they
currently watch horror films to get a rough idea of the amount of
people my magazine could actually appeal to. My result show that
people typically watch horror films on a monthly basis. Only 6
people (3 for each) said that they never watch them or that they
watch them yearly. This suggests that a large amount of people
are actually interested in horror films so are likely to watch the film.
I then wanted to know how appealing my poster was and
Whether it was doing a good job at promoting the film. My
feedback from this question suggests that a large amount of
the people who saw my poster would actually watch the film it
was advertising. Also when I asked why the people wouldn’t watch
the film it came back down to the fact that they don’t like any
horrors. As a producer, this is good to know because then you
know that your marketing campaign is working effectively and
would generate interest in your film.

What grabs your attention?
I can see that my average score for how eye catching the poster is, is an 8. The most people
have gone with this score(7), with 5 people suggesting its more eye-catching than that and 2
people suggesting its less eye-catching than that. I am happy with this feedback because its well
above midway and suggests that my poster does actually appeal to people and draw them in.
The majority of my feedback tells me that most people are initially attracted to the image (within
the blood splat) in the centre of the poster. This was said by 11 people which suggests it is one
of the most eye catching parts of the poster. Most people thought that the face within the blood
splat looked creepy so it drew them in and they felt intrigued. Some people specifically said the
eyes as they look as if they are staring at you so it captivates the viewer of the poster.
Another thing that was said by 2 people was the colour choice. It is known that red
attracts the eye which is whys it’s the centre piece of my poster. Also as the colour red fits in with
the shape that the face it within, the viewer will just presume that’s is a splatter of blood which
is what I was trying to connote. One person said that the title and its font was what grabbed their
attention the most. This may have been due to the font or just because it’s the largest piece of
text on the screen.

What do you dislike about the poster?
The feedback that I received
from this question was useful
to know. five people said that
they didn’t like the fact it
looked so plain and simple.
They thought that it looked
empty and I should have put
more on the poster. However, I
think that the simplicity of this poster is what makes it stand out
more. Similarly to this 3 people didn’t like the plain white
background. This could link in with the fact that the poster looks
bare because its on a very subdued background which makes it
boring. Again, I think that having this white/plain background
makes the red image and the title stand out more.
One person claimed that the credits at the bottom were
too small and hard to read so you couldn’t see all the information
clearly. This problem was easily rectified because I just extended
the writing making it easier to see.
Two people said that they didn’t dislike anything about
the poster and that they thought it was good and appealing the
way it was.

This question leads on from the previous
one, as I asked people about how they
thought I could improve my poster to get
rid of the bits they disliked and to lure more
people into watching the film. The most
obvious answer I got back from this question
was to change the background, by either
adding a picture or just by changing the background
to a different colour. Two other people gave different
suggestions which were ‘make it more scary’ and
‘give more information’. The most people (7) said
that I should just leave it as it is and there are no
improvements needing to be made.

Picture Review Title Colour OthersNumberofpeople
What do you like about the
poster?
It is clear from my feedback that the picture is the main thing
that people like about my poster with 5 people saying this. This is
probably due to it being the centre point of my poster. Its
purposely in the middle to stand out and catch peoples attention.
Three people said that they liked my colour scheme and the way
that the colour red connotes blood and death. Other people
said how they liked the title and the review at the top because
the title stands out and is easy to read and then the review
encourages others to watch people the words used draw you in.
Another person said that they like all the fonts used because the
title looks like a typical horror and the others fit usual conventions
of an advertisement poster.
Finally people said that in general they like how the cover stands
out from the rest and its easy on the eye. Also how it just gets
straight to the point because of its simplicity.
I think that generally I got quite good feedback and I was happy
with what was said. Generally people seemed impressed with
my poster and they were likely to watch the film based on it. I
got some constructive criticism that I took on board, for
example; making the credits bigger. However, a lot of the
improvements I disregarded. This was because most of it was
just about the plainness of the poster and how it had a white
background. I didn’t feel it was entirely necessary to change
because people were still happy with the poster and thought it
was eye-catching enough, therefore I mainly left it how it was.
Also myself and some other people liked the fact it had a sense
of simplicity because then it would stand out from other
posters.

I thought it was important to know what

The results show that music, fashion

followed by TV. Other responses included
sports and gaming mag’s which a few people
purchase. As I am creating a magazine based around films, the
results show that my magazine would have a place in the market

From these results I can see that the majority of people who did
my questionnaire would actually buy the magazine. This is good
to know because then it tells me that it does actually appeal to an
audience and this would be good promotion for my film. Only 3
people said that they wouldn’t buy the magazine, but these were
because of reasons such as ‘don’t like magazines’ and not
actually to do with the appearance of mine. I thought that it was a
good idea to ask people how much they were willing to pay for this
magazine, to know the maximum in which I could charge, where
people will still buy it. My general results for this were averaging
around £2.50. This is quite a good figure and it also suggests to
me that the audience think my magazine will be of a fairly high
standard as they are willing to pay £2.50 for it.

In the same way as I did on the Poster questionnaire, I asked
how often people watched horror to get an idea of how big of an
audience there is that I am trying to attract. 7/16 results said that
they never watch horrors. The other 9 said that they watch them
either on a yearly, monthly or weekly basis. This means that over
half of my respondents would actually be interested in our film so
we would be able to get a lot of income from the film.
I then asked whether the people would watch the film based on
this magazine cover. The bulk of my responses said yes which
tells me that its doing a good job of promoting our film. Also the
people who said no gave reasons such as ‘don’t like horrors’ or
its ‘too scary’, which could actually be considered as good
feedback because this tells me that the cover is giving off the
correct genre of movie and that its actually thrilling to look at.

From my results I can see that the most noticeable thing, which
catches people’s eye, is the colouring of my cover. The yellow
clearly strikes the eye because it stands out from the dark
background. Other results also suggested it was the main image
which people were initially attracted too. Some people specifically
said that it was the mask that drew them in, whilst others believed
that the knife and the rope was enticing because the felt uneasy.
The majority of my results said either of these two thing which
suggests that they are the main points to my magazine.

What do you dislike about the cover?
My results show that people
generally like the cover because
when I asked them what they dislike
their response was nothing. This
suggests to me that its appealing
and people are happy with what my
cover looks like. In terms of the
images on the screen, some people
didn’t like how the head covered the title
because then you couldn’t see what it actually
says. Another person said how they didn’t think the second image
(in the corner) was really necessary on the cover. However, I
disagree because then it gives you a preview of the ’32-page
horror special’ so its more likely to entice you. Another person
said that they didn’t think the main image was very scary. I will
consider trying to make it more creepy.
More feedback I received was that they didn’t like the colour
scheme - particularly the yellow. This was said by one person as
they didn’t feel that it was very horror-like. Another person just
said ‘dull’. This may be because its only black, white and yellow.
Another person felt it looked a bit ‘squished together’ whilst others
didn’t like some of the fonts. I will bear this in mind when

My responses from this question show that people liked the

Another thing people liked was the yellow colouring. This is because

Also the bright yellow is vey eye catching so it immediately grabs
the eye.
Another response was that they liked my cover line because its
Very visible and clear. A further response was that they liked how it
‘looks scary’.
Overall I was quite pleased with the feedback that I received.
People seemed to be happy with how my magazine cover looked
so I didn’t really feel the need to change anything on it. I made
the colour yellow a bit brighter to try combat the fact it looked
dull, but other than that I left it. The reason behind this is
because people said they were willing to buy the magazine, so it
must look of a high standard. Also my responses told me that
from the magazine cover, people would watch the film. This
therefore suggests that it is doing its job correctly and
advertising/promoting my film, and encouraging people to
watch it.

Evaluation Question 3

  • 1. By Samantha Hunn WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT FROM YOUR AUDIENCE FEEDBACK?
  • 2. When producing a film you need to try and get a vast audience which is wide spread to get the maximum profit and viewings. To do this you need to have an ad campaign that appeals to the general public and to your target audience which will encourage them to see the film. Therefore it is important to get audience feedback when producing the advertisement because then you know what the audience likes/dislike and what they expect from your products. Also from gaining feedback you can improve your products to a higher standard and more people are likely to buy them which in turn will give the film a wider reach. WHY AUDIENCE FEEDBACK IS IMPORTANT
  • 3. When doing our trailer and ancillary products we tried to get feedback in a number of ways.  TRAILER FEEDBACK: For the trailer itself we wanted audience feedback before we actually produced the product and started filming. This was so that we knew what our target audience expected to be in the trailer and how we could get a maximal target audience. It was important we done this because then we could follow the feedback we received and produced a trailer based around it. This research was in the form of a questionnaire, which I produced and distributed via survey monkey.  TRAILER FEEDBACK: Once we had then created a first draft copy of our trailer, we uploaded it to YouTube. We then set up screenings in class which allowed the rest of our class to view our trailer. In order to collect feedback, we gave out sheets which asked them what they liked, didn’t like and suggestions for improvement. It also had a rating out of 10, so we could roughly work out the standard people thought our trailer was at and the enjoyment level. Once the trailer had finished we then recorded people giving us feedback aloud, which we took into consideration when completing the trailer. For our trailer in particular this feedback was extremely useful because our main target audience was for people below the age of 25 and for people in their school/ college years. Therefore as all the feedback we got was from this age range and were students, it was ideal to hear what they liked and disliked. HOW WE COLLECTED FEEDBACK
  • 4.  MAGAZINE/POSTER FEEDBACK: For the magazine cover and poster I collected feedback in a different format. This time I produced a questionnaire about them and attached the finished product to the questionnaire. This was done online via survey monkey. My questionnaire involved questions such as ‘would you buy this magazine? Why?’ and ‘What do you dislike and like about the poster’, etc. This allowed me to address my potential audience and see what they thought about my methods of advertisement. Once I gathered the feedback and I took it all into consideration when perfecting and finishing my ancillary products. The majority of my audience feedback will be of the age 18, this is because that’s my target audience. I presume they will all be students too. HOW WE COLLECTED FEEDBACK
  • 6. The next few slides will tell you all about the feedback I received about the trailer that I produced.
  • 7. WATCH VIDEO ‘ATTACHMENT FEEDBACK’ ON THE BLOG Trailer Feedback THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED FOR MY MAIN PRODUCT The video shows the feedback we received from our classmates about their views on the trailer for ‘Attachment’. When looking back through the feedback I found a common theme of what people liked and how they thought our trailer could be improved. We took this into consideration when finishing our trailer so that it will appeal to a lot of people.
  • 8. We had quite a few comments on our choice of inter- titles. 4 people said that they thought we should changed the font of them, whilst others thought that they should be longer. Here are some of the comments we received: Trailer Feedback THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED FOR MY MAIN PRODUCT THE WAYS TO IMPROVE:
  • 9. Another thing that people said was that we needed to include quicker shots to go with the change of mood in the trailer. People also recommended some more intense and scary music to create and help build more tension. Here are some of the comments I received: Trailer Feedback THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED FOR MY MAIN PRODUCT THE WAYS TO IMPROVE:
  • 10. People also thought that the spoken dialogue in the background needed to have more emotion in the voice so that it would draw people in. Also people thought that it said the name ‘Jenna’ too much which lead to it being quite annoying. Here are some of the comments we received: Trailer Feedback THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED FOR MY MAIN PRODUCT THE WAYS TO IMPROVE:
  • 11. Finally some people mentioned about our music in the background. A few people said that it was just generally too loud, so it was slightly overpowering. Also someone said that it ended to suddenly and that it should have been more of a gradual fade out. Here are some of the comments we received: Trailer Feedback THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED FOR MY MAIN PRODUCT THE WAYS TO IMPROVE:
  • 12. The most common aspect of our trailer that people liked was the fact that we had a letter been spoken the entire way through, acting as a narrator telling the story. Here are some of the comments we received about this: Trailer Feedback THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED FOR MY MAIN PRODUCT THINGS THAT PEOPLE LIKED: From all the comments, we feel as though this was one of the main aspects of our trailer and don’t need to make any changes to it.
  • 13. Other people said how they liked the fact that our trailer shows a clear change in mood. It begins with happy upbeat music/ shots but then soon changes to a dark and eerie atmosphere. Here are some of the comments we received: Trailer Feedback THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED FOR MY MAIN PRODUCT THINGS THAT PEOPLE LIKED:
  • 14. People also said they though we had some good shots throughout our trailer. Some people specifically said which parts they liked; someone said they liked the jump scare at the end whilst another person thought the slow zoom in towards the masked face was good. Here are some of the comments that we received: Trailer Feedback THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED FOR MY MAIN PRODUCT THINGS THAT PEOPLE LIKED:
  • 15. Another person said they liked the use of the name ‘Jenna’ a lot: Also people thought the acting in the trailer was good and we chose good props to use: Another comment was that the storyline was clear and easy to follow: Finally someone said how they liked the trailer because it generally did creep them out: Trailer Feedback THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED FOR MY MAIN PRODUCT THINGS THAT PEOPLE LIKED:
  • 16. 0 2 4 6 8 10 12 7 7.5 8 9 NumberofPeople Rating Rating Trailer Feedback THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED FOR MY MAIN PRODUCT The results show that the average rating was a 8/10 as 10 people gave us this score. The lowest we got was a 7, so we were fairly happy with this because it shows that people thought it was to a high standard and clearly enjoyed it. Also from these results, it suggests that there isn’t much that we would need to change from our trailer to make it better because the ratings were high.
  • 17. We took into consideration all of the feedback that we gathered and tried to change our trailer based around this. Firstly we wanted to change the inter-titles because this is one of the main things that people thought should be changed. We changed the font of them, the transition and how long they appear on the screen. On the inter-title towards the end we changed what said ‘Sturman productions’ to ‘revenge’ because we thought that it would fit in better with the atmosphere that we were trying to create. We then reconsidered out trailer in terms of sound. Firstly, we reduced the volume slightly and tried to fade the music in more when the letter starts. We also found some more intense music and added it into parts of the trailer to make it more scary (e.g. when the knife appears). We also relined the words ‘stop’ in the letter that was being read with the clip in the background. When the light flashed on it said stop and this way it makes it feel more creepy. We also added an effect on inter-title that said ‘Attachment’ so it flashes up at the viewer. This was done so its almost like a shock. Finally we quickened up some of the longer shots to help with the change in emotion. By doing this the trailer builds up pace and as a result builds up in suspense. HOW FEEDBACK INFLUENCED THE TRAILER
  • 19. The next few slides will tell you all about the feedback I received via my online survey about the magazine cover that I produced.
  • 20. Poster feedback THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED FOR ANCILLARY PRODUCTS 1 10 3 AGE 17 18 20+ 5 9 GENDER Male Female 8 2 2 2 Occupation Student Shop Worker Waiter/waitress Other From these results you can see that the majority of my feed- back was from people the age of 18 years old. Also they are mainly students. I done this purposely because that is my target audience so I wanted mainly their feedback. I received more feedback from girls than boys, however this didn’t affect my results. I will take all the feedback into consideration.
  • 21. Poster feedback THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED FOR ANCILLARY PRODUCTS 0 2 4 6 8 10 Monthly Yearly Never Number of people How often do you watch horrors? 12 2 Would you see the film based on the poster? Yes No I thought it would be a good idea to ask them whether they currently watch horror films to get a rough idea of the amount of people my magazine could actually appeal to. My result show that people typically watch horror films on a monthly basis. Only 6 people (3 for each) said that they never watch them or that they watch them yearly. This suggests that a large amount of people are actually interested in horror films so are likely to watch the film. I then wanted to know how appealing my poster was and Whether it was doing a good job at promoting the film. My feedback from this question suggests that a large amount of the people who saw my poster would actually watch the film it was advertising. Also when I asked why the people wouldn’t watch the film it came back down to the fact that they don’t like any horrors. As a producer, this is good to know because then you know that your marketing campaign is working effectively and would generate interest in your film.
  • 22. Poster Feedback THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED FOR ANCILLARY PRODUCTS 0 2 4 6 8 10 12 Picture Colours Title Numberofpeople What grabs your attention? I can see that my average score for how eye catching the poster is, is an 8. The most people have gone with this score(7), with 5 people suggesting its more eye-catching than that and 2 people suggesting its less eye-catching than that. I am happy with this feedback because its well above midway and suggests that my poster does actually appeal to people and draw them in. The majority of my feedback tells me that most people are initially attracted to the image (within the blood splat) in the centre of the poster. This was said by 11 people which suggests it is one of the most eye catching parts of the poster. Most people thought that the face within the blood splat looked creepy so it drew them in and they felt intrigued. Some people specifically said the eyes as they look as if they are staring at you so it captivates the viewer of the poster. Another thing that was said by 2 people was the colour choice. It is known that red attracts the eye which is whys it’s the centre piece of my poster. Also as the colour red fits in with the shape that the face it within, the viewer will just presume that’s is a splatter of blood which is what I was trying to connote. One person said that the title and its font was what grabbed their attention the most. This may have been due to the font or just because it’s the largest piece of text on the screen. 0 2 4 6 8 4 7 8 9 10 Numberofpeople Rating given How eye catching do you find the poster?
  • 23. Poster Feedback THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED FOR ANCILLARY PRODUCTS 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 Nothing Plain/simple White background Hard to read Numberofpeople What do you dislike about the poster? The feedback that I received from this question was useful to know. five people said that they didn’t like the fact it looked so plain and simple. They thought that it looked empty and I should have put more on the poster. However, I think that the simplicity of this poster is what makes it stand out more. Similarly to this 3 people didn’t like the plain white background. This could link in with the fact that the poster looks bare because its on a very subdued background which makes it boring. Again, I think that having this white/plain background makes the red image and the title stand out more. One person claimed that the credits at the bottom were too small and hard to read so you couldn’t see all the information clearly. This problem was easily rectified because I just extended the writing making it easier to see. Two people said that they didn’t dislike anything about the poster and that they thought it was good and appealing the way it was.
  • 24. Poster Feedback THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED FOR ANCILLARY PRODUCTS 7 5 2 What improvements do you recommend? None Background Other This question leads on from the previous one, as I asked people about how they thought I could improve my poster to get rid of the bits they disliked and to lure more people into watching the film. The most obvious answer I got back from this question was to change the background, by either adding a picture or just by changing the background to a different colour. Two other people gave different suggestions which were ‘make it more scary’ and ‘give more information’. The most people (7) said that I should just leave it as it is and there are no improvements needing to be made.
  • 25. Poster Feedback THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED FOR ANCILLARY PRODUCTS 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 Picture Review Title Colour OthersNumberofpeople What do you like about the poster? It is clear from my feedback that the picture is the main thing that people like about my poster with 5 people saying this. This is probably due to it being the centre point of my poster. Its purposely in the middle to stand out and catch peoples attention. Three people said that they liked my colour scheme and the way that the colour red connotes blood and death. Other people said how they liked the title and the review at the top because the title stands out and is easy to read and then the review encourages others to watch people the words used draw you in. Another person said that they like all the fonts used because the title looks like a typical horror and the others fit usual conventions of an advertisement poster. Finally people said that in general they like how the cover stands out from the rest and its easy on the eye. Also how it just gets straight to the point because of its simplicity.
  • 26. I think that generally I got quite good feedback and I was happy with what was said. Generally people seemed impressed with my poster and they were likely to watch the film based on it. I got some constructive criticism that I took on board, for example; making the credits bigger. However, a lot of the improvements I disregarded. This was because most of it was just about the plainness of the poster and how it had a white background. I didn’t feel it was entirely necessary to change because people were still happy with the poster and thought it was eye-catching enough, therefore I mainly left it how it was. Also myself and some other people liked the fact it had a sense of simplicity because then it would stand out from other posters. HOW FEEDBACK INFLUENCED THE POSTER
  • 28. The next few slides will tell you all about the feedback I received via my online survey about the poster that I produced.
  • 29.
  • 30. Magazine Cover Feedback THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED FOR ANCILLARY PRODUCTS 6 9 6 5 3 2 Type of magazine Film Music Fashion Tv Sport Gaming/ Computer tech I thought it was important to know what sort of magazines people usually bought to see whether my magazine would fit in and be popular with the audience. The results show that music, fashion and film are the most popular, closely followed by TV. Other responses included sports and gaming mag’s which a few people purchase. As I am creating a magazine based around films, the results show that my magazine would have a place in the market as that’s one of the most popular magazines out there.
  • 31. Magazine Cover Feedback THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED FOR ANCILLARY PRODUCTS13 3 Would you buy this magazine? Yes No 0 1 2 3 4 5 0 5 10 15 20 Amountwillingtopay(£) Number of people Price willing to pay From these results I can see that the majority of people who did my questionnaire would actually buy the magazine. This is good to know because then it tells me that it does actually appeal to an audience and this would be good promotion for my film. Only 3 people said that they wouldn’t buy the magazine, but these were because of reasons such as ‘don’t like magazines’ and not actually to do with the appearance of mine. I thought that it was a good idea to ask people how much they were willing to pay for this magazine, to know the maximum in which I could charge, where people will still buy it. My general results for this were averaging around £2.50. This is quite a good figure and it also suggests to me that the audience think my magazine will be of a fairly high standard as they are willing to pay £2.50 for it.

Magazine Cover Feedback THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED FOR ANCILLARY PRODUCTS 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Yearly Monthly Weekly Daily Never Numberofpeople How often do you watch horror? 13 3 Would you watch the film? Yes No In the same way as I did on the Poster questionnaire, I asked how often people watched horror to get an idea of how big of an audience there is that I am trying to attract. 7/16 results said that they never watch horrors. The other 9 said that they watch them either on a yearly, monthly or weekly basis. This means that over half of my respondents would actually be interested in our film so we would be able to get a lot of income from the film. I then asked whether the people would watch the film based on this magazine cover. The bulk of my responses said yes which tells me that its doing a good job of promoting our film. Also the people who said no gave reasons such as ‘don’t like horrors’ or its ‘too scary’, which could actually be considered as good feedback because this tells me that the cover is giving off the correct genre of movie and that its actually thrilling to look at.

From my results I can see that the most noticeable thing, which catches people’s eye, is the colouring of my cover. The yellow clearly strikes the eye because it stands out from the dark background. Other results also suggested it was the main image which people were initially attracted too. Some people specifically said that it was the mask that drew them in, whilst others believed that the knife and the rope was enticing because the felt uneasy. The majority of my results said either of these two thing which suggests that they are the main points to my magazine. However one people said they thought the title was eye-catching And caught their attention first.

My results show that people generally like the cover because when I asked them what they dislike their response was nothing. This suggests to me that its appealing and people are happy with what my cover looks like. In terms of the images on the screen, some people didn’t like how the head covered the title because then you couldn’t see what it actually says. Another person said how they didn’t think the second image (in the corner) was really necessary on the cover. However, I disagree because then it gives you a preview of the ’32-page horror special’ so its more likely to entice you. Another person said that they didn’t think the main image was very scary. I will consider trying to make it more creepy. More feedback I received was that they didn’t like the colour scheme - particularly the yellow. This was said by one person as they didn’t feel that it was very horror-like. Another person just said ‘dull’. This may be because its only black, white and yellow. Another person felt it looked a bit ‘squished together’ whilst others didn’t like some of the fonts. I will bear this in mind when Perfecting my cover.

  • 36. Overall I was quite pleased with the feedback that I received. People seemed to be happy with how my magazine cover looked so I didn’t really feel the need to change anything on it. I made the colour yellow a bit brighter to try combat the fact it looked dull, but other than that I left it. The reason behind this is because people said they were willing to buy the magazine, so it must look of a high standard. Also my responses told me that from the magazine cover, people would watch the film. This therefore suggests that it is doing its job correctly and advertising/promoting my film, and encouraging people to watch it. HOW FEEDBACK INFLUENCED THE MAGAZINE COVER
