2. This result shows the
answer to the question โ
How effective do you
think the main image
isโ- We decided to ask
this question as we
both knew that the
main image on a
magazine front cover is
of the most importance,
therefore, this needed
to be right to ensure
the success of the
magazine. 18 of 20
respondents thought
that the main image
used was very effective
with only 2 suggesting
that it was only slightly
effective.
3. This was a very
important question. In
order for a magazine
cover to be successful,
the text on the front
needs to be appealing
and eye-catching to the
audience. Therefore, we
asked members of our
target audience to see
what they thought after
looking at the cover and
16 respondents thought
that the text was very
relevant for a cover of a
magazine, with only 3
respondents suggesting
that the text could have
been slightly more
relevant.
4. This question was asked,
so we could see a genuine
answer from our target
audience. It is a very
simple question, but
people would be most
inclined to give an honest
and quick opinion after
seeing the front cover. 16
people agreed that the
cover is very eye catching
with only 4 people
thinking it was only
slightly eye catching.
We could then see if it
would be attractive to our
target audience.
5. This question allowed my
partner and I to see
whether or not our
magazine front cover looks
appealing enough to be
displayed on a shop shelf.
This information then
helped to ensure that we
amended any features we
needed to make this
possible. 15 individuals
said that they would
definitely pick the
magazine up if they saw it.
5 people said that they
may pick it up but it
depended on other factors.
6. Personally, I believe this to
be the most important
question. It was incredibly
important for us to make
sure that the front cover
would look as though it is
advertising a horror genre.
Without this certainty, it
would defeat the whole
point of trying to advertise
a trailer that is of the
horror genre- the
magazine front cover,
therefore, also needed to
resemble this. 13
respondents thought that
the magazine portrayed
the horror genre very
effectively. 5 thought that
it portrayed the genre well
to a certain extent and 1
respondent thought that it
didn't represent the genre
at all.
7. Although this question is
similar to a previous
question, it gave us the
reassurance that our TA
believed out product to
look realistic enough, so
that if it were to be a real
thing, it could be possibly
displayed in a shop. If we
got very negative
answers, we would have
then gone in to change
certain features to fix it.
18 people agreed that
the cover is extremely
professional/ realistic
enough to be found in a
shop. Only 2
individuals thought that
it could look a little more
professional/ realistic.
8. This form of question, allowed us to
see more in depth answers from the
audience that we asked. The
questions asks for specific examples
regarding the colour, font and image.
With these specific examples, we
were then able to go back to our
front cover and change these to fit
their requirements. 14 responses
included the effectiveness of the
main image which was the strength
of the cover. 5 people thought that
the text was one of the main
strengths of the cover and 5
respondents also thought that the
colour of the cover was one of the
stand out features of the
cover.
9. This question on improvements
also gave our audience freedom
to note down any suggestions
they had for us to make the
magazine better. 3 people said
โnoโ, meaning they saw no fault in
the front cover. Others also made
suggestions, however the one
that stood out most for us, was
the comment that one of our
actors shirts were too bright and
blue, take the emphasis away
from it being a horror genre.
Taking this on board, this feature
was changed to make sure it fitted
the horror genre perfectly.
