anaFLY01-05: A MULTIPURPOSE QUADCOPTER WITH DUALITY FEATURES
1. MULTIPURPOSE QUADCOPTER WITH
DUALITY FEATURES
Proposed Project by:

3. INTRODUCTION
Quadcopter are one of the most interesting little flying machines
ever imagined. It has four rotors, so also known as quadrotor. It has a unique
design compared to traditional helicopters, as it allows a more stable platform.
To maintain balance and suspension at altitude; the quadcopter must be
continuously taking measurements from sensors, and making adjustments to the
speed of each rotor.
The term Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) connotes flying
aircrafts, without a physical pilot manning the cockpit. UAV are mainly
applicable in circumstances where manned flights are very difficult and
dangerous to use.
4. This design will fly autonomously by means of artificial
intelligence, working with Global Positioning Service (GPS) but can also be
remotely control incase of emergency. It will carry payloads, have surveillance
system, light source, storage and backup battery, among others.
Though similar project has been done previously in one form or
another. Yet operating it by remote control only, loss of stability, extremely large
size, undependable power source etc. This among others has been a major
limitation for making quadcopters ideal for diverse task; most of which will be
address in this project. It will make a good platform for robotics, and it's
upgradeable in the future.
5. Problem Statement
The need to monitor large (delicate and extremely sensitive) regions
at a short time frame, in hostile environment mostly inaccessible by man.
Also, unnecessary traffic have been hindering efficient transportation of
goods and service delivery all around the globe.
6. Motivation
This project is considered as an avenue to utilized the
knowledge acquired overtime in the integrated field of Engineering; in
solving a real life, highly prioritized problem.
7. OBJECTIVES
The goals of the project are:
1. to design a multipurpose quadcopter
2. to have a duality features interms of ; power source, control interface, access to
surveyed files etc.
3. to ensure a safe, cost effective design
4. to achieve a small size design with a minimal noise
5. to make its surveillance camera adjustable (rotating at 360 ֯)
6. to enhance live transmission and media storage system of surveyed files
11. MULTIPURPOSE ?
The project would bridge the wide gap created in the area of intelligence gathering.
This project will be of immense use for the military and will make reconnaissance
survey possible in hostile regions.
Important tool for emergency workers; in search and rescue operations during
disasters: for identifying and tracking wildfires, can rapidly fly over impassable
roadways, creating a map with pictures of survivors.
It is a vital tool for efficient data collection, needed in research; an integral part of
scientific study.
It will be handy in conducting surveys of different kinds; such as geophysics surveys
and terrain mapping, remote inspection. To monitor endangered species, taking very
high quality images of animals without disturbing their peace and to track the activities
of poachers in parks. Observe variations in wildlife habitats and behavior.
A more bigger size, can be use for door-to-door timely delivery of products and other
payloads within short time frame, for recreational activities and at related event.
14. CONCLUSION/RECOMMENDATION
In a nutshell, this innovation worth much consideration because without
this or similar designs; it will be quite difficult to fit into the competitive
technological advancement of nowadays, several regions will be difficult to explore,
many versatile data needed for processing might forever lay idle, It might also limit
future response to emergency situation. With technology gradually replacing man-
power utilization globally, it is crystal clear that the benefits of this project would
outweighs its cost.
The range (distance it can cover) and harsh atmospheric condition might
be a major limitation. I will recommend an improvement and also modification
inform of completely automated passenger Quadcopter.
