3. Existing Product – Music Video
I think that this music video has been made very well to show what is going on inside the characters
head and also shows who their target audience is. The primary audience would be males over 18 as the
main character is male and he is an adult. This would appeal to them because the main character is
using rotoscoping and it adds wonder and mystery for who the character is that the primary audience
would want to find out.
The secondary audience would be much older people from the age of 30 and upwards. This would be as
this age range would just want to watch the video while doing work. This game would appeal to them as
the main character looks like a fully grown male who is changing the scenery and using more effects,
which appeals to the secondary audience.
We can tell that the video is about the achievement that people can make and dream about making
when they are younger. This is easily shown when the video includes sections where he has a kingdom
around him and he is the king.
They have aimed it at people aged 18 upwards which successfully targets it towards their audience. For
the thumbnail of the video they have used a rotoscoping around the character to make it look like he
has metaphoric waves coming off him. It also make it stand out more as this an effect that isn't used
often.
The thumbnail and the main character is wearing a lot of dark colours which symbolises to the audience
that the video is a dark censed video where the character may try to reach happiness. The thumbnail is
also minimalistic with detail, this is so that it is more appealing for the audience to see and look at, this
is also because people don’t normally spend a lot of time looking at the thumbnail.
5. Existing Product – Best elevator music part 2(Music Video)
This music video has made all the key aspects very clear so that the audience knows what it is about.
For starters the makers have included the main character in the middle of the group so that it can be
easily recognised. The primary audience of this game will be to older male children as it is an fun
styled music video. The game would appeal the primary audience and 16 and up as the main character
in the video is young and that this video is also an escapism for real life.
The secondary audience would be older people that may create videos likes this. It would interest the
secondary audience to watch as it might give them inspiration for something. The thumbnail is
minimalistic which is good as it doesn’t look to messy so it looks more appealing when first seeing it.
They have also successfully advertised the characters by positioning them I across the whole screen. In
the video, each character seems to have their own specific colour, this allows the charters to stand
out as their own and not blend into each other. The reason I chose to analyze this video is because this
song includes specific sections and ideas that I will use for inspiration, such as the use of green
screening. The first thing about the soundtrack for this video is the structure. The audio has gotten a
clear structure where you can hear each of the 5 parts.
I think that the way the sounds are used at the start of the video has been done well to make the
scenario to look realistic and so that it can easily flow into the song. I also think that the backing
sounds work well before the main character piano role is introduced. This song is split up Into three
different sections which I think works well. They have used a small scenario in each segment to be able
to transition from one stage of the song to another. This gives of a clean and smooth scene/ theme
change. Finally, to make it more realistic the items they use are just everyday normal items which
anyone could be using
7. Existing Product – Music Video
The primary audience for this music video would be males from the age of 13 to 18. This is
because it is a video about someone's everyday life going to school which relates to the age group.
The video uses lots of green screen which stands out as not many music videos use greenscreen in
this format.
The secondary audience for this video will be adults aged 30 and upwards. This would appeal to
the secondary audience as this audience will be people older whom have already videos like this
and may have created things similar. This video is very simple and doesn’t have much detail to it,
this makes it more appealing to originally look at.
The thumbnail included the main character and an action that he is doing to show that he is going
through a everyday life. They have also successfully advertised which character in the video is the
main character which is the male as he has the most screen time. With this music video they have
used lot of amounts of greenscreen. This is something that I am going to try and achieve.
In this video they have use it to change the scene from his house to school. This will make it easier
for me to get the characters into scene at the same time and arrange them to show who the main
character is. For the name of the video they have made sure to keep it short and catchy, this will
help draw attention to the video and make people want to watch it.
To make it appealing to the primary audience they have added a couple on in the video as this will
make the younger audience more interested in the video and this age group would be looking for
‘love’.
9. • Rotoscoping is an animation technique that animators use to trace over
motion picture footage, frame by frame, to produce realistic action. Originally,
animators projected photographed live-action movie images onto
a glass panel and traced over the image. This projection equipment is referred
to as a rotoscope, developed by Polish-American animator Max Fleischer. This
device was eventually replaced by computers, but the process is still called
rotoscoping.
• In the visual effects industry, rotoscoping is the technique of manually creating
a matte for an element on a live-action plate so it may be composited over
another background.Chroma key is more often used for this, as it is faster and
requires less work, however rotos copy is still used on subjects that aren't in
front of a green (or blue) screen, due to practical or economic reasons.
• Rotoscoping while be used in by video to slowly engulf the items that each
character uses. This can be done on after effects or photoshop. These two
ways give me free roam on how much rotoscoping is used and also allows me
to change when it gets used.

11. • Green Screen: Technically, this term refers to the coloured background you
want to make transparent and remove from your shot. This is usually a single
coloured backdrop, which can be any colour, but is usually bright green because it
is the colour furthest away from human skin tones. (Blue screens were frequently
used in the early days with film, and might still be used in certain cases.)
Sometimes the term is used as a fit-all for the entire process of keying (see below).
• Chroma Key: This popular term goes hand-in-hand with green screen. It’s the
actual technique of layering, or compositing two images based on colour hues.
Every colour has a chroma range, hence where the terminology comes from.
• Keying: This term is used to describe the process of removing the green screen
background in post-production using video editing software. When the green
screen background has been keyed, it will be fully transparent. Then you can fill in
that transparent area with a different image or video. The goal is to get the
cleanest key possible, meaning there are no digital artifacts left on your image
where the green screen was originally.
• Spill: This often refers to the coloured light that reflects back onto your subject
from the green screen. When a green screen is brightly lit, the light can actually
reflect that colour back onto your subject. There are a number of steps you can
take to prevent spill, which we’ll discuss below.

13. Audience research
• Observation:
From the results, I can tell that the
most popular product is a music
video at 38.10% while the second
popular is a comedy skit at 28.57%.
The least popular are a short film at
23.81% and a documentary at 9.52%.
• What this says about my
audience:
This shows that my audience are
more interested in both music videos
and comedy skit’s. Showing that this
kind of product entertains them more
than a short film or documentary.
• How will your product appeal to
this audience:
For my project I will make a music
video that includes a comedic
element. This will make my project
appeal 66.67% of my audience. This
is as it includes the two most popular
choices.
14. Audience
research
• Observation:
For the results we can see that out of the two options, 80.95% of the audience prefers a music
video to have a storyline that fits in with the lyrics of the song. Whereas 23.81% prefer edgy
shots will would allow me to include more cinematic shots.
• What this says about my audience:
This tells me that over 80% of my prefer the song lyrics and video to match up. This shows me
that the audience wants a story line/ or main character to follow and connect with. This seems
to be more of a popular choice where only 5 people wanted the video to have edgy shots.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
When making the product I will make a storyline with the characters that will follow the music
that happens. This will be done with the movements that the characters create. By doing this I
will be able to appeal to 80% of my audience.
15. Audience research
The next two questions are similar in
how they will effect the survey and
how they effect the the final outcome
of the project. The first question (what
is your age), has a main age category
to aim at. 61.90% of my audience is
from the ages of 18 to 24 while the
other 38.10% are under the ages of 18.
This tells me that my audience are
mainly younger adults. This makes
sense for why they wanted a comedic
element to my project.
The second part ( what is your gender)
has 52.38% of the audience as
females. This might make sense are
females are more likely to watch music
videos as males mainly just listen to
the music. This gender split is very
close to 50/50 so this wont change the
audience target too much. For this I
will have to target the product to both
genders instead of one more than the
other. This allows 100% of the
audience to be interested.
16. Audience research
• Observation: I
In this question I am looking at the genre
of music video they enjoy the most.
From this I can see that 71.43% would
prefer a music video with a pop genre
while the second highest is 38.10%for
rock and indie.
• What this says about my audience:
As these 3 are the highest genre I can
see that the audience are more
interested in songs that are more fast
paced and with more beats.
• How will your product appeal to this
audience:
For my product I will conduct a song that
has lot of beats and is more fast paced. I
could have different sections of the song
where it switches genre so that it covers
more of the audience.
17. Audience
research
• Observation:
In this question I wanted to see what design of character would appeal most to the
audience. From this I see that 61.9% prefer a modern teen while 19.05% prefer
emo/goth
• What this says about my audience:
This show that most the audience are modern teens and that they would prefer to see
that as a main character.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
As there I will be 5 character is will have the most popular in the middle and the more
through out the characters go will be less popular.
19. Interview 1
As someone who both enjoys the tv and movie side of media I am
very interested in the product that will be made for this project. I
like his ideas for the rotoscoping. As he has looked at Youtubers
video, I feel that this will help him make the product idea aimed
better for his audience. He has included a large techniques range
which is good so that there is more things for people to be
invested in, more ways to show his skills and so that it makes
more people interested to watch the products. I also think that
the idea to make his video look like an everyday scene is a good
idea as it allows the audience to connect to the characters more.
Finally, I believe that his thumbnail should include all characters
with their specific item, this shows the importance of that item to
them in the scene and also make people more interested to watch
the video
Name- Arran Lawrenson
Age- 21
Gender- Male
20. Interview 1
• Observation: That this person thinks that this
product will work and that he enjoys the products
that I will make.
• What this says about my audience: This shows
that the audience is like me and enjoys music videos
and products that I also like.
• How will your product appeal to this
audience: As my audience said they liked the idea
of the large technique range I will use to create the
video.
21. Interview 2
Name- Sebastian Harvey
Age- 23
Gender- Male
After seeing the research and project ideas I think that it will be a
very positive outcome. Firstly I like that he has decided to use
greenscreen so that each character can be played by himself. This
will help widen the range of people who are interested in the
product. I also like the idea of him using rotoscoping to edit the
items that the characters are using. Next, I like that he has
specifically aimed the product towards males and females as that
might make some people feel that t is for everyone and makes
them want to watch it more. The only downside in aiming the
product to both genders is that one gender might not like parts if
it is intended for the other sex. Finally, with the music video I like
that he is planning to make it look like a every day scene. That will
make it look a lot better. By doing this I think that it will make
people more interested and want to watch.
22. Interview 2
• Observation: From this I can see that they like the
ideas for my video. They talk about how the
techniques will work well.
• What this says about my audience: As this
person talks a lot of ways to increase peoples
interests shows that he know how to make someone
want to watch the video more so that it can be more
popular.
• How will your product appeal to this
audience: As he said about the audience genders
might try make it more for males as I can use myself
as primary audience research in that case.

Category Demographic Content to appeal to this
audience
Age Range
Primary- 16 to 20 • I will include more images and action
into the product as that is what the
audience of this age prefer.
Gender
Primary-Males
Secondary- Female
• On the survey I found out that most
answers where split male to female. I will
aim for males as I am a male and will
know what this gender will prefer better.
25. Research Evaluation
• Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the
strengths and weaknesses of each method
– Product Research- the good thing about product research is that it allows
you too look at product that have already been made to give me
inspiration. The bad thing is that I have to make it different to how
products already are so that it isn’t copy right. Over all I know the style of
rotoscoping and green screening that I will try achieve.
– Questionnaires- I used survey monkey to get questions and answers. The
good thing is that you can change the product to fit the audience, this also
allowed me to see what kind of people would be viewing the product. The
bad thing is that you might not get the answer you was initially wanting or
looking for.
– Interviews- this allows me to talk to the audience and find information
about them that I can use for secondary research. I can also get their
opinion on it so that I can act on it to improve. The bad thing is that they
wont like every aspect to what I am going to make.
26. Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
I got responses that had enough detail on them and level out well to near enough
give one answer for me to chose to allow me to know what sort video and effect level
the audience wants. It also allowed me to see what sort of people was answering the
survey to allow me to aim my product at the designated people and how to make it
more appealing for them. For example I got answers letting me know if I should do
include more beats and fast paced music. I also got answers about types of characters
there will be more interested in. I can use this feedback to add to my final product to
make it more aesthetically pleasing for the audience and make them more interested
to watch.
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage
By using the survey it has given me a lot of information that I can use to improve my
idea. I have done this by making the audience only give on answer where I gave them
different options to chose from so I can see which option is most favoured.
Unfortunately with this, I did get multiple of the same answer so it will be hard to use
the response as I didn’t get a conclusion of what answer is most favoured meaning I
had to decide which to use and aim for. The answer didn’t have much detail about
them which could have made it a little harder for the audience to chose,
