2. WORK PLAN
This is the work plan for my film and it shows what I wish to complete in a certain time to
give me mini-deadlines to complete the film to a high standard by the end deadline. I can
then adjust this plan if anything goes wrong which causes a delay in production.
3. Type What equipment will be
used?
Why have I chosen this and how will I use it?
Equipment Camera (Cannon 700D) +
Battery
I have chosen to use this camera as I have used it before at
school so I am used to it, also it is available to me all the time.
I will use it for all my shots and try to get a variety of angles.
Equipment Tripod I will use a tripod for the majority of my shots to make sure
that the camera is steady and the shots aren’t shaky or
wobbly or out of focus, as this will decrease the quality of the
film.
Equipment Microphone (Røde VideoMic) I will attach this to the top of the camera to make sure that
the sound recorded is of good quality and isn’t quiet or
muffled so that the audience can hear any dialogue clearly.
Equipment SD Card + Reader The SD card will enable my shots to be saved on the card and
I can then upload these onto the computer using an SD card
reader before editing.
Equipment Computer I will use my computer for planning, editing and researching to
help my film be of a high quality.
Equipment Headphones Whilst editing, I may need to find sound effects and music
aswell as editing any dialogue. Headphones will help me do
this.
Equipment Light When filming I may use a light to improve the look of the shot
and get the correct lighting if it looks too dark, this will
improve the quality of the shots even further.

4. Type What equipment will be used? Why have I chosen this and how will I use it?
Software Adobe Premiere Pro I have chosen to use this to do my editing of the film
because I know how to use it and I feel that it is the best
editing software to use to produce a high quality film.
Software Adobe Photoshop I will need to use Photoshop to be able to create a logo or
some text to have in the credits in the film.
Software Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and
Excel
I will need to use word and PowerPoint to be able to plan
things and create essentials for the film such as the
script. Excel will also be needed for the work plan to keep
on track with the schedule.
Software Internet (Google) Google will be needed in the production of my film to be
able to find music samples and sound effects to make the
film more interesting and realistic for the audience.
Software Adobe Audition I will possibly use Audition if I need to edit a piece of
dialogue or music, however I can use Premiere Pro for
this.
Assets Studio Title Logo I may use a studio title logo to make them film look more
professional.
Assets Special/Sound effects (Music) Using these special or sound effects will make the film
look of a higher quality and I will probably include these in
order to get a higher grade.
EQUIPMENT GUIDE LIST
5. For my cast I need 3 teenagers to be actors in my film. 2 boys
to play Billy and Jason and then a girl to play Jess. All 3
characters are as equally important as each other so I need 3
good actors as there is a lot of dialogue and it needs to be
realistic.
This was one of the things that the panel picked up on from
my pitch is that the film idea will require good actors to
execute well due to it being quite an emotional short film,
with several plot twists.
As for the crew it will mainly be myself doing the filming and
editing so I will not have any other cast members, which is
appropriate as it is only a short film.
CAST & CREW
6. The plan for my budget is to only spend money on necessities
and if I can then I will not spend any other money on this film.
Due to being based on real life this film hopefully wont
require and money to be spent on props or costumes due to
being set at a house and involving everyday people as the
main characters.
The only thing that may result in spending money is if my idea
changes slightly and I need a different location in the film
which requires being hired out. However, this would only be
done for the benefit of the end product.
PLANNED BUDGET
7. What? Who legally owns it? Legal impact What is the impact of using it?
Filmed Footage I do, if I am the one who
filmed it.
I can make sure nobody uses
or copies my footage by
copyrighting it. This way my
footage will be unique to my
film.
I need permission from the actors
and their parents if they are under
18. I will make sure they are aware
of the task and that they know the
film will end up on YouTube,
available to the public.
Studio logo title I am most likely to use a
studio logo title made by 20th
Century Fox, therefore they
own it.
I need to make sure when I
get tis sequence that it is
legal and isn’t copyrighted.
If I do use one of these sequences
illegally it can cause the film to be
banned due to infringing copyright
laws.
Special effects If I am to use any special
effects then I would find
them from A website or a
special effects creator, they
would be the ones who own
it.
Many of these will be
copyright free, however if not
then I will have to ask for
permission to use them in
my film.
The impact of using special effects
in my film would be positive as it
would improve the quality of it.
However if I don’t ask for
permission on any copyrighted
items then I may breach copyright
infringement laws.
Sound effects/Music I would find these sound
effects from websites online
that should be free to
download.
Much like the special effects,
many of these will be
copyright free. But if not then
I will have to ask for
permission to use them in
my film.
Having music and sound effects in
my film will help the mood of the
film. Although if I breach copyright
infringement laws and use a
sample that has been copyrighted
than the film could be banned.
LEGAL REPORT
8. ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS
What? The impact on my film Legal impact
Film Age Certificate I would rate my film either a 12A or a
15, meaning that anyone from these
ages upwards are legally allowed to
watch it. However the BBFC would
classify this for my film.
The BBFC would take a classification
decision on my film to decide what age
rating it would be. This would mean that if it
was rated an 18 this would reduce the
broad width of my target audience.
We must respect these age ratings as the
BBFC are trying to “protect children and
vulnerable adults from potentially harmful
or otherwise unsuitable content.” Aswell as
“to empower consumers, particularly
parents and those with responsibility for
children, to make informed viewing
decisions.”
Content Considerations I need to make sure that my film does
not include any content that may offend
people of a certain age, race or religion.
Any offensive content included in my film
would either be removed or the film as a
whole would have to be of a certain age
certificate it included adult content. This
would be something the BBFC would
oversee. However my film is not likely to
include any offensive or harmful content.
Exposure of my film My film is likely to be shown on YouTube
and short of the week, so I need to
make sure my film complies with the
rules of these websites.
Short of the week say that your film must be
free to watch and be 40 minutes or less.
They also “require films to have all
necessary rights and releases secured for us
to feature them. Including music”. I will
make sure my film will not break any of
these rules.
