2. With this project, the brief is quite open to what I am able to make. For example
when I first thought about what I could make I looked back at previous projects.
From my print project when I made a magazine article, I found that I really enjoyed
the photoshop editing part where I could pick apart the images and turn them into
something unique which you wouldn’t normally see anywhere else. With this idea
of it being unique I also have to think about my audience. Such as would this
unique idea be appealing to the audience and what sort of people (i.e. age,
gender, psychographic, class) would enjoy or be interested in. Being able to make
something more unique is something that I want to take from the print project and
use in my F.M.P. During my music video project I was able to think more about
what I wanted as there were a lot more possibilities for me to look into, such as the
genre of music and if I wanted the video to have a story told into it. With the music
video I also learnt lots of skills for the project that I am about to make. My initial
thoughts to the project that I could make is a unique style of music video. In my
research I will be looking at your more generic style of music video and the types of
imagery that is used within them. I will also plan to start looking at the plans that I
have for my designed idea. For instance, with my past music video product I can
use skills video editing in my F.M.P. In this learnt about layering as I will need to
specifically layer characters on to the scene in a position so that you can easily see
the hierarchy of the characters. With the thought of doing something unique while
connecting to the music video and short film, I could use some thing such as a
greenscreen to use special effects to make it stand out more.

3. Personal Context
I will need to look into green screening so that I can smoothly get rid of all the green without
making it look tacky. My initial thought of this without doing research into is that with
premier pro once I have gotten rid of the background, to make it clearer I can feather around
the character a little bit to full get rid of any green. The idea of using a greenscreen comes
from a creator called Rudy Mancuso who I will talk about later. This idea will also involve of
lots of Foley and sound effects that I have previously learnt how to do when I was making my
own music and sound effects in high school and from my previous audio project, I feel
confident about making the Foley. In my audio project that I have done in my first year of
level 3 and my project of level 2, I will use audition to be able to fully edit every sound effect.
This will allow me to specifically make it to my desire. Whilst in high school in my Music Tec
course I did a project specialized in Foley. From this I will be able to find more items to use to
be able to create the Foley. I am wanting to make this product as it is what I feel most
confident in and I believe that I it is what I will do best in. This idea that I am wanting will be
more of a comedic genre, which is something that I have wanted to try create. As I am
wanting to make this comedic, this will also have a light hearted mood. This will be good as I
am potentially thinking of having my target audience to be male between 15 and 25. I am
thinking that as I come under that age category meaning I could use myself as primary
research. I can also ask fellow friends and classmates whom will be in that category to take
a survey so I can see what them (as the audience) would prefer to be seen in the video, such
as something relatable and trending. By knowing this, it will help my product to be more
appealing to them. Finally to make it more unique, in the previous documentary I made, I
used rotoscoping on photoshop. This is something that I want to take place in the project. As
I got confident with rotoscoping, I feel that it will be successful and stand out.
6. Creator context- Rudy Mancuso
■ For my creator context, I have started to look at the creator Rudy Mancuso. He is a
youtuber that makes a range of videos which covers skits, music videos and small vlogs.
In this instance the music video aspect is what I am using for partial inspiration. For
example on one of his videos that he has made, he shows the process of a song and
makes a video out of this. This interests me as it is like what I did for my music video at
the start of the my first year on level 3.
■ As the video goes along, you see him trying different wording to improve the song and with
every combination it changes the song into something different. This idea that he has
done does appeal to me and would be an idea that I would love to do and will take into
consideration for this project.
■ The videos that Rudy Mancuso creates are unique and his work is something that inspires
me. This unique aspects is something that I will want to achieve.
■ After watching some of his videos, it allows me to think of different techniques that I can
try out in my experiments. Lots of the music videos that he makes are for songs that he
creates.
■ Rudy Mancuso made a similar video to the ideas that I could possibly do and I will be
using him and his style of music video as inspiration for my product.
■ The main video of inspiration that Rudy has made was a skit styled music video where
there five members of the public whom got stuck in an elevator. By having them there
they made movements with themselves and objects to make the ‘beat’ for the song. If I
choose this theme of music video I will have to make sure that my product is significantly
different.
7. ■ This can include of being in a different setting, different style of clothing's and music, and that
my storyline isn’t a copy of one of his. Within this there will be parts of his work that I recreate to
be similar in my product. For example the style of music video will be similar.
■ Rudy Mancuso also creates all of his own audio which is something I would like to do. For his
audio there are two different aspects that I will be needing to look into.
■ Firstly is his music. With this he makes it clear that the video and music a line together. In some
of his videos he uses instruments such as a guitar or piano to add detail into the video. The
character that normally plays this instrument is the main character that means most to the
video.
■ This character will normally be centred in the video. The instrument normally sets the mood and
changes the genre of music. For example the piano might set more of a classical tone where the
guitar might be more swing.
■ In my video I am thinking of having my characters positioned so that I can use a keyboard to add
to the characters. The other part of his audio is his sound effects. The ones that can be heard in
the video is Foley which amplifies it more and allows the sound effects to stand out more.
■ I like this as it makes it sound more professional. By doing this, Rudy can make the sounds
specific to how he wants. For example he can change the tempo, the pitch and the volume
compared to the other audio. Finally, with Rudy Mancuso’s music he focuses on the positioning
of the characters. For example the bass and character that make the beat will usually be on the
outer edges of the screen.
■ The character that changes the most/ adds the melody will normally be in the centre to show
that they are more important. This kind of hierarchic is something that I would like to include in
my version of the video.

9. ■ In the video shown on the previous slide, the creator uses something unique which has
lead to inspiration for a part of my video. They use the effects of rotoscoping.
■ The art of rotoscoping consists of drawing over live-action to produce your animation.
The purpose of rotoscoping is either to animate a scene completely using a live-action
reference, or to add animation to a live-action scene while tracking the movement of the
camera and the live-action elements.
■ Though it can be time consuming, rotoscoping allows animators to create lifelike
characters who move just like people in the real world.
■ This effects to me is something that stand outs to be different. Which is something I
want my product to be. With using rotoscoping in the video it will add another layer of
special effects to make the video unique.
■ I have use rotoscoping in a previous product which is another reason why I am wanting
to use rotoscoping. Although it did take a lot of time to do, with patience I feel that I will
make the video look better and professional while showing the audience the change in
different stage of the video.
■ Rotoscoping for VFX is used to create a matte or mask for an element, so it can be
extracted out to place on a different background, masked out so colours can be
changed, or any other set of reasons. It is more widely used than many realize.
■ Finally, rotoscoping is a big inspiration for my F.M.P as it fit well with my idea and makes
it more creative and works within the post production side, which I am most interested
in.

11. ■ In the video shown on the previous slide, the creator uses something unique which has lead
to inspiration for a part of my video. They use the effects of green screening.
■ Green screen basically lets you drop in whatever background images you want behind the
actors and/or foreground. It's used in film production (and also in news and weather reports)
to relatively simply place the desired background behind the subject/actor/presenter.
■ Shooting with a green screen involves filming a person or adding visual effects in front of a
solid colour. Then, by digitally removing or “keying out” that colour, you can drop that scene
onto the background of your choice in post-production. Removing the coloured background is
also referred to as “chroma keying.”
■ This effects to me is something that stand outs to be different. Which is something I want my
product to be. With using a greenscreen in the video it will add another layer of special
effects to make the video unique.
■ I have used a greenscreen in a previous product which is another reason why I am wanting to
use a greenscreen. Although it did take a lot of time to sort out, with patience I feel that I will
make the video look better and professional to allow the characters to be in a different
location or have multiple of the same character.
■ Green is the go-to because it doesn't match any natural skin tone or hair colour, meaning no
part of an actor will be edited out through chroma key. When a green costume or prop is
essential, a blue screen is often substituted
■ Finally, green screening is a big inspiration for my F.M.P as it fit well with my idea and makes
it more creative and works within the post production side, which I am most interested in.
