At first, I was really nervous and anxious when thinking about my first lesson. I did
not know how I wanted to start, if my students were going to like what we had
planned or if everything was going to be ok. Luckily, my lesson went perfectly fine.
Students were eager to participate although at first they did not understand me
when I spoke in English. When I suddenly realized that, I changed my instructions
English – Spanish and the lesson went smoothly and they all wanted to participate.
I could not complete my lesson plan since we did not have enough time to prepare
all the electronic devices we needed to project the video. Jorgelina gave us a hand
and we could start right away. That may be the reason why we could not finish all
the activities we had prepared for the class. I did not know what to improve until
Vanesa went to School n°25 to observe us. She gave us a positive feedback on
how we were teaching and the things we could improve. Now, I know I have to
make more use of the board, focus on students sat at the back, go around their
desks and ask if they are following the activity.
My partner’s lesson was entertaining and creative. Students participated in all her
activities and they learned a lot. Some students were a little bit distracted when
Flor was trying to explain instructions but I, as a pedagogical partner, approached
to their desk and asked them nicely if they could pay attention to what Flor was
saying and leave the other subject for later. They left the other subject’s booklet
aside and become part of the class. It is amazing how much both grades can learn
in forty minutes and how much they love the activities we are planning for them
each class.
As regards us as a team, we had some troubles when organizing ourselves inside
the classroom the first lessons but we managed to overcome those obstacles and
now, we understand each other very well.
