I’ll read them the steps to safely cross the road, explaining the
new vocabulary and using body language. They’ll repeat each
indication and then we’ll play “Simon Says”, for example, when I
say “Simon says look left” they’ll have to perform the action
shown in the flashcards and by me. I’ll mix up the flashcards and
stick them to the blackboard, and they’ll have to write the steps
in order in their notebooks.

After having shown students flashcards with new vocabulary, I’ll
tell them that before crossing the road they have to pay attention
to external factors. Then they’ll have to complete the empty
spaces with the words below according to the picture they see.

Since this activity is a little bit more complex, I’ll be reading the
phrases and we’ll be completing them all together with the help
of flashcards for the words which are not represented in pictures
(bike, careful, helmet). I’ll ask them if they ride bikes and where,
if they use helmets.
Homework As homework, I’ll ask them to make their own traffic signals
(posters) with the help of an adult, as a way to show what they
have learned. We’ll be sticking their productions on the corridor
walls or the classroom walls to create awareness about the
importance of knowing and respecting these signs.
