How effective is the
combination of your main
product and ancillary texts?

Social Media
• Over the years social media has increased and has
been a useful network for promotion
• People are able to share information with one
another from different parts of the world
Twitter
• People are able to retweet and
like information
• This spreads it from people to
people who can then retweet
and share with their friends
• Hashtags can also be used in
promotion which can trend and
allow more people to see the
information posted.
Facebook
• One of the most popular forms of promotion on
social media
• People can like and share information with one
another
• Messenger also allows people to send the link
to their friends
• Recently emoticons have been added so
people can express their feelings about the
post
• People can also comment about what they think
and can tag other friends in so they can see it
Instagram
• One of the newest forms of social
media is Instagram
• It allows people to share photos
and videos with one another and
like and share
• Bands are also able to be
sponsored and promote latest
singles on peoples newsfeed.
For the distribution of our music video, Facebook and Twitter
would be the most beneficial due to people sharing the link from
the YouTube Channel or from the website. This creates a large
audience for the music video. Having a link to the artists website
increases the chances of people finding more information about
the band including exclusive content including bloopers and
behind the scenes footage. Links down the side of YouTube also
suggest similar videos of videos that the artist has also been in,
including interviews and performances which is easy access for
people to look at and find out more. For the digipak and poster, I
also think that Facebook and Twitter would be a good distributor
but also Instagram as sponsored links can appear on anyones
news feed which could include exclusive clips and videos of the
music video, shows convergence by combining the promotion of
both products.
Traditional methods of promotion
include the use of magazines for
adverts in which they music poster
advert would apply and work well.
It helps to promote the band to
people who read the magazine but
may not know the band but also
shows the convergence of music
magazines and advertising posters
as well as digitally. The website for
the artist is on the bottom of the
poster allowing people to visit it to
find out more information about the
band. Typical magazines such as
NME would have a similar target
audience to the type of music that
our music video is which would
appeal to them and want to find
out what is new.
The link between the music video, digipak and poster
is due to the style and mise-en-scene of both
products. With reference to the music video and the
link between New York and Newcastle and the artist,
the digipak was very much oriented around the
setting and iconic photographs of New York and
Newcastle. The photographs of the artist on his own,
were also linked due to the locations found in the
music video. The styles of all our products, including
my partners Hannah, we kept to a minimalist style
which incorporated black boxes through the digipak
and music poster. I think this combines all the
products and shows how they are linked to one artist.

  • 2. Social Media • Over the years social media has increased and has been a useful network for promotion • People are able to share information with one another from different parts of the world
  • 3. Twitter • People are able to retweet and like information • This spreads it from people to people who can then retweet and share with their friends • Hashtags can also be used in promotion which can trend and allow more people to see the information posted.
  • 4. Facebook • One of the most popular forms of promotion on social media • People can like and share information with one another • Messenger also allows people to send the link to their friends • Recently emoticons have been added so people can express their feelings about the post • People can also comment about what they think and can tag other friends in so they can see it
  • 5. Instagram • One of the newest forms of social media is Instagram • It allows people to share photos and videos with one another and like and share • Bands are also able to be sponsored and promote latest singles on peoples newsfeed.
  • 6. For the distribution of our music video, Facebook and Twitter would be the most beneficial due to people sharing the link from the YouTube Channel or from the website. This creates a large audience for the music video. Having a link to the artists website increases the chances of people finding more information about the band including exclusive content including bloopers and behind the scenes footage. Links down the side of YouTube also suggest similar videos of videos that the artist has also been in, including interviews and performances which is easy access for people to look at and find out more. For the digipak and poster, I also think that Facebook and Twitter would be a good distributor but also Instagram as sponsored links can appear on anyones news feed which could include exclusive clips and videos of the music video, shows convergence by combining the promotion of both products.
  • 7. Traditional methods of promotion include the use of magazines for adverts in which they music poster advert would apply and work well. It helps to promote the band to people who read the magazine but may not know the band but also shows the convergence of music magazines and advertising posters as well as digitally. The website for the artist is on the bottom of the poster allowing people to visit it to find out more information about the band. Typical magazines such as NME would have a similar target audience to the type of music that our music video is which would appeal to them and want to find out what is new.
  • 8. The link between the music video, digipak and poster is due to the style and mise-en-scene of both products. With reference to the music video and the link between New York and Newcastle and the artist, the digipak was very much oriented around the setting and iconic photographs of New York and Newcastle. The photographs of the artist on his own, were also linked due to the locations found in the music video. The styles of all our products, including my partners Hannah, we kept to a minimalist style which incorporated black boxes through the digipak and music poster. I think this combines all the products and shows how they are linked to one artist.
