6. There is very little change in
these photos but they have
actually been photoshopped
that included brightening the
photos, using clone tool and
using the spot healing photo
7. Social groups represented in my magazine?
People aged 15-30 – Due to the music genre, It
is more a teenage and young adult magazine
because of the heavy bass line and synth effects
within the music.
Ethnicity and Sexuality- Because of the
worldwide audience dance music appeals too,
the magazine I have created can be enjoyed by
all diversities of ethnicity and sexuality.
8. Class and Status – The language used in the
magazine along with the price compared to
other dance magazines on the market today
suggests that it is affordable for the working
class complete with a more informal language
structure.
Gender – Since dance music has so many male
and female DJ’s that a magazine about this
genre can’t be gender specific.
9. There is a limited amount of institutions that
will ever distribute a dance magazine due to
the limited amount on the market today as it is
has been such a niche audience. The most likely
ones to distribute my magazine will be the
likes of development hell and EMAP. This two
are the most likely because they are the current
and the former distributer of the worlds
biggest dance based magazine and my style
model, MixMag.
10. The reason why development hell and EMAP may
distribute my magazine is because one day back in
history, they did the same with MixMag but now a
days, it would be easier because the amount of
people that buy MixMag and may be looking for
another dance mag that they may want to buy for a
trip somewhere or something along those lines,
MixMag could advertise this magazine and could
generally get more attention to my magazine.
Since these two distributers are so well recognised
in getting dance magazines to the world, it also
proves that my magazine could lead to being one
of the best selling magazines in the world.
11. Development Hell and EMAP would advertise my
magazine in other magazines like the one I
suggested in the slide before. On billboards in city
centres and near music magazines like the way
HMV advertise new release on small billboards
when you enter the shop. They could also
advertise on the internet when people are
searching for dance music. These are the
conventional advertisements used for dance mags
but they could also challenge these conventions by
advertising during radio chart shows because of
the massive proliferation of audiences now
listening to dance compared to 10 years ago.
12. I would want my magazine to advertised
internationally because of the mass audience
dance music now has. I can see new dance
magazines being able to know go
internationally because of the little language
barrier that the world possesses as my
magazine is in English. Since English is the
second most spoken language in the world, I
can see dance magazines in English improving
their sales and seeing a massive increase in
demand of these type of magazines.
13. I would Development Hell because they have
MixMag at the minute and having another
magazine will improve their profits and
increasing revenue. It will be easier to advertise
when starting out as well because of having the
ability to advertise easily in MixMag. The
owners of Development Hell also were the
ones who started off MixMag and therefore
have experience in distributing a small
magazine with no background and making it
into a success.
14. The usual audience for dance music 15-30 year
old people who love a heavy beat. Since dance
is more of a festival type music with many of
the worlds best festivals being the likes of
world gathering, Tomorrowland etc. Their isn’t
any other specific targets to do with ethnicity,
sexuality or even gender. This makes dance
music now a days have a mass audience as it
increases as the years go by and could even go
to the likes of older generations and continue to
show why it is one of the biggest genres in
todays music scene.

16. I attracted my audiences by sending out a
survey that included questions that the
audiences would like to see in a new magazine
that they would enjoy. I also did a review of
my rough cut that tells me about what people
thought of it and what I should change. This
helped me improve my understanding of what
makes a magazine look professional and what
looks good in my eye compared to the
consumers.
17.
18. As you can see from the answers from the
survey, I tried to listen to my target audience as
much as possible. For example, for the article, it
was a close favourites between personal life,
musical intentions and role models so in the
final cut, I included some past information, role
models and a tiny bit about festival intention in
the fantasy world of Steve Miller.

25. There isn’t one thing I haven’t learnt from all
the programmes I have used. These
programmes have included: Blogger,
Photoshop and in design.
26. I had used Photoshop a lot during my G.C.S.E.
days when I was doing my BTEC in media but
I never realised that I could quickly use a tool
that would get rid of spots and a clone tool that
can get rid of nearly anything
27. This is a new part of technology I have used
this time around I actually did enjoy it when I
got the hang of it. I liked how I could have a
layout then just place things in and I think it
has really made me want to use it more in the
future if I have to do something like this again.
It has massively improved my knowledge
about what technology I can use for certain
situations instead of just using Photoshop or
fireworks.
28. I already had a bit of knowledge of shutter
speed and aperture but I didn’t know it in so
much detail so when I started to take photos to
replicate the procedures, it improved my
knowledge of using DSLR cameras and certain
aspects of good photography.
29. I never thought that using blogger could be a good idea but
it makes my life so much easier, I enjoyed being able to
make a blogger and the freedom to update it whenever I
wanted and how I can right as much as I want. This freedom
just made this work so much easier as I could update
multiple post one day and know that I could have a day off
if I needed. I learnt that having a blogger lets me be in
control and be able to do what I want and it made my
preparation so much easier. It is a good thing I used this
technology as now, I know how to make a blog and update
it when and wherever I want because I even went and got
the iPhone app that let me update when I wasn’t a computer
so when a thought popped into my head, I could write a
new post and upload when I had the connection.
