1. Question 3: What I noticed!
To discover what the audience thought about my music video I decided to film and asks
questions to two different age groups; my target audience and an older generation.
What I discovered from things that both age groups liked about my video was that they
thought it was extremely moving and that the use of black and white/ reverse section was
really effective. I am glad that they commented on this because I really wanted my story to
be the focus on my video since they lyrics of the song are the main thing I am trying to put
across.
Both my audience successfully identified what genre my video came over which successfully
shows that I stuck to conventions of other pop videos. The older generation even related my
video to other romance films which shows that the narrative side of my video reminded
them of romance films they have seen.
I think the main contrast I saw between the two ages was when I asked if they would buy
the CD. The target audience said they would definitely buy it since it is the type of things
they listen to, whereas the older generation said they wouldn’t since it’s too “pop” for
them. Although I would try to improve to the music video to get it to suit an older audience I
believe it’s the artist that turns away that audience just because of the genre.
When I asked for improvements I only got little comments like reworking some moments of
lip syncing and not having the camera jolt so much. Overall I am happy that all my audiences
enjoyed my video even if it was aimed towards a young age.
