Style Sheet Description
I looked specifically at fonts that have a hand written or a calligraphy look to them. I
chose this style of font because the overall style of the magazine is very girly. Though
for the front cover, I want the main title to be a bold font that’s easy to read and big
enough so that it would catch someone's eye if it was on a shelf. As well I want the
font to either be black to stand out or a color that will fit my chosen color scheme.
I looked specifically at pastel type colors because I don’t want the magazine to be too
bright, but I also don’t want the magazine to be too dull I think the colors blue and
pink work well together for a fashion magazine. For the cover of my magazine, I want
to use both pastel blue and pink because it think these are quite fashionable colors as
well as being quite summery, which is the main theme for my magazine.
I looked at clothing styles for all 4 seasons. This gave me ideas of what types of
photography to do and what colors I should include within that photography (e.g.
clothing, background). It also helped me to understand what clothing styles fit each
season.

I decided that the main focus of
the page should be the name of
the magazine in quite big lettering
and a single or multiple images of
who/what will be featured in the
magazine. I chose to have my main
color as red due to the image I
chose was in black and white, this
made the title of the magazine
stand out a lot more. I chose to go
with a cursive font because I think
that it fits very well with the type
of magazine I'm trying to portray.
On the front cover I also want to
include things that will draw the
attention of an audience such as
promising possibilities to win
prizes, celebrity gossip and eye
catching headlines.

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was
born on April 15, 1990, in Paris. Her
parents, both British lawyers, are
Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson. Her
brother, Alex, was born three years later.
Her parents divorced when Watson was
5, and she moved back to Oxfordshire in
England with her mother and brother.
First For Celebrity News
Daniel Jacob Radcliffe (born 23 July 1989)
is an English actor best known for his role
as Harry Potter in the film series of the
same name. He made his acting debut at
10 years of age in BBC One's 1999
television film David Copperfield,
followed by his cinematic debut in 2001's
The Tailor of Panama.
For a similar reason to the front
cover, I wanted to include the
name of of the magazine on the
back as well, this is because then
the name and the logo is seen
throughout and is easy to
remember.
I decided to go for a pastel blue
and pink background because I
think that these colors link in with
fashion because the colors are
quite stereotypically girly.
I included images so that people
can put a name to the face when
buying the magazine.

I kept the same color scheme because I think it fits in very well. I
included an image on one page to fill extra space and to give the
reader a preview of who is involved in this weeks issue. I still stuck
with the red title because it stands out above everything and your
eyes go directly to the title first.
When designing the
contents page I didn’t
want to overload the
page with images
because I didn’t want
to take attention away
from the text. With
the images I do
include I want them
to reference to
specific pages in my
magazine to be a
preview of what's to
offer in the magazine.

When designing my reader comments and
q&a page I took into consideration that these
specific pages will most likely be read by the
young people in my chosen age group.
Knowing that, I
designed to look
similar to one from a
teen magazine such
as seventeen
magazine.
I decided to put a
border around the
things that I wrote so
that they would stand
out on the page. I
decided not to use as
many images on this
page because I want
to mainly focus this
page on text.

With the posters I wanted to have a full
page image as the poster because I
think that it would look better. I had the
names of the people in the photograph
to look like a signature. I decided to
include the name of the magazine
because if people do put these poster
up e.g. at home,
work, school locker
etc. its like free
advertisement for the
company. I also
decided to keep the
red title to stand out
on the page, but also
links in with the type
of photo being used.

When designing my double page spread, I initially didn’t want to
over load the page with images because I think that it would take
the main focus away from the story. With the title I want it to be
a question to do with what's been written, I think this would be
the best type of title to have because then people would have to
read on to get the answer. I designed the pages
to be the opposite of
each other, I did this
so that all of the text
would be broken up
by the images.
With the background
I chose to have a pink
background because I
think that it would fit
the type of magazine
I'm doing and also
links in with my front
cover.

Inspirational Fashion MagazinesI chose mostly to look at vogue because it is the most
popular magazine when it comes to fashion. I like the
look of vogue magazine because it has kept its same
style since the magazine started. I want to take the
same idea for when creating my magazine, that being
the way that the cover has one main image with the
name of the magazine along with small bits of
information from with in the magazine. I want to use
this idea when it comes to making my own cover. I will
do this by making all the inner content before hand so I
know what to include on my cover. I will only use one
main image for my entire front cover. I looked into both
vogue and teen vogue, this is because my chosen age
group is quite big and I want to see what all type of
content is similar in both magazine. I also looked what
content the magazine elle has. A lot of their content
consists of fashion, make up and celebrities. This
magazine has inspired some of the content I have
included in my magazine such as, celebrity gossip,
reader comments and celebrity posters. I looked into
the magazine seventeen because it is a magazine
strictly focused to cater to teen girls. I looked at this
magazine to give my inspiration for the different types
of front covers I could make.
I liked the design of having a dark background with a lighter image. I could do this when creating
my magazine to help the image stand out. I also noticed that a lot of magazines use red as the
title I think this is because it stands out and draws the eyes of potential readers.

  • 3. Style Sheet Description I looked specifically at fonts that have a hand written or a calligraphy look to them. I chose this style of font because the overall style of the magazine is very girly. Though for the front cover, I want the main title to be a bold font that’s easy to read and big enough so that it would catch someone's eye if it was on a shelf. As well I want the font to either be black to stand out or a color that will fit my chosen color scheme. I looked specifically at pastel type colors because I don’t want the magazine to be too bright, but I also don’t want the magazine to be too dull I think the colors blue and pink work well together for a fashion magazine. For the cover of my magazine, I want to use both pastel blue and pink because it think these are quite fashionable colors as well as being quite summery, which is the main theme for my magazine. I looked at clothing styles for all 4 seasons. This gave me ideas of what types of photography to do and what colors I should include within that photography (e.g. clothing, background). It also helped me to understand what clothing styles fit each season.

  • 11. Layout 1- Front Cover Design 1 News Article Headlines Celeb Gossip Win Prizes Issue 32 Jul 18 £2.99 I decided that the main focus of the page should be the name of the magazine in quite big lettering and a single or multiple images of who/what will be featured in the magazine. I chose to have my main color as red due to the image I chose was in black and white, this made the title of the magazine stand out a lot more. I chose to go with a cursive font because I think that it fits very well with the type of magazine I'm trying to portray. On the front cover I also want to include things that will draw the attention of an audience such as promising possibilities to win prizes, celebrity gossip and eye catching headlines.

  • 14. Layout 2 Back Cover Design 1 This issues featured celebrities Image Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born on April 15, 1990, in Paris. Her parents, both British lawyers, are Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson. Her brother, Alex, was born three years later. Her parents divorced when Watson was 5, and she moved back to Oxfordshire in England with her mother and brother. First For Celebrity News Daniel Jacob Radcliffe (born 23 July 1989) is an English actor best known for his role as Harry Potter in the film series of the same name. He made his acting debut at 10 years of age in BBC One's 1999 television film David Copperfield, followed by his cinematic debut in 2001's The Tailor of Panama. For a similar reason to the front cover, I wanted to include the name of of the magazine on the back as well, this is because then the name and the logo is seen throughout and is easy to remember. I decided to go for a pastel blue and pink background because I think that these colors link in with fashion because the colors are quite stereotypically girly. I included images so that people can put a name to the face when buying the magazine.

I included an image on one page to fill extra space and to give the reader a preview of who is involved in this weeks issue. I still stuck with the red title because it stands out above everything and your eyes go directly to the title first. When designing the contents page I didn’t want to overload the page with images because I didn’t want to take attention away from the text. With the images I do include I want them to reference to specific pages in my magazine to be a preview of what's to offer in the magazine.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit When designing my reader comments and q&a page I took into consideration that these specific pages will most likely be read by the young people in my chosen age group. Knowing that, I designed to look similar to one from a teen magazine such as seventeen magazine. I decided to put a border around the things that I wrote so that they would stand out on the page. I decided not to use as many images on this page because I want to mainly focus this page on text.

  • 22. Layout 5 “celeb” posters Full page image Emma Watson Daniel Radcliffe With the posters I wanted to have a full page image as the poster because I think that it would look better. I had the names of the people in the photograph to look like a signature. I decided to include the name of the magazine because if people do put these poster up e.g. at home, work, school locker etc. its like free advertisement for the company. I also decided to keep the red title to stand out on the page, but also links in with the type of photo being used.

Maecenas When designing my double page spread, I initially didn’t want to over load the page with images because I think that it would take the main focus away from the story. With the title I want it to be a question to do with what's been written, I think this would be the best type of title to have because then people would have to read on to get the answer. I designed the pages to be the opposite of each other, I did this so that all of the text would be broken up by the images. With the background I chose to have a pink background because I think that it would fit the type of magazine I'm doing and also links in with my front cover.

  • 30. Inspirational Fashion MagazinesI chose mostly to look at vogue because it is the most popular magazine when it comes to fashion. I like the look of vogue magazine because it has kept its same style since the magazine started. I want to take the same idea for when creating my magazine, that being the way that the cover has one main image with the name of the magazine along with small bits of information from with in the magazine. I want to use this idea when it comes to making my own cover. I will do this by making all the inner content before hand so I know what to include on my cover. I will only use one main image for my entire front cover. I looked into both vogue and teen vogue, this is because my chosen age group is quite big and I want to see what all type of content is similar in both magazine. I also looked what content the magazine elle has. A lot of their content consists of fashion, make up and celebrities. This magazine has inspired some of the content I have included in my magazine such as, celebrity gossip, reader comments and celebrity posters. I looked into the magazine seventeen because it is a magazine strictly focused to cater to teen girls. I looked at this magazine to give my inspiration for the different types of front covers I could make. I liked the design of having a dark background with a lighter image. I could do this when creating my magazine to help the image stand out. I also noticed that a lot of magazines use red as the title I think this is because it stands out and draws the eyes of potential readers.
