Sweeney Todd Summary
I. Intro.
The play Sweeney Todd has been performed on numerous stages since 1979. The 1982 version of
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, was directed by Harold Prince. Unfortunately, I
watched a recoded production of the play; the recoding took place in 1982 but was based off the
1979 production. Over all my impression of Sweeney Todd, is that the play has a bitter–sweet tone
that supports all the killing, lying, and deceiving that goes on in the play just so that Sweeney Todd
could get his so called revenge.
II. Body Paragraph 1:
a. The scene that has interesting scenery would be one hour and twenty–two minutes into the
recorded production. The scene is of Mrs. Lovett's restaurant; her restaurant is packed with people
as Toby serves the guest meat pies. Mrs. Lovett's restaurant has an antique look to it. She has a
wooden wall that has a faded green color painted on it; against the while is a chest, poster, and a
door. Mrs. Lovett, herself standing next to a white bar like table, it is very high. She also has a barrel
being supported by some type of stand in her restaurant. Next to the platform that her restaurant is
set up on is a table were her customers sit and eat he meat pies.
b. The scenery in this moment did provide a sense of location. Based off how the scene was set up
anyone in the audience would've been able to known that the current location of the play was Mrs.
Lovett's shop.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street
Sweeney Todd The production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street by Stephen
SOndheim. It took place at the Cabe Theatre on Hendrix Campus. This play was November 2nd
through November 4th at 7:30 pm and also November 5th at 2:00 pm. At first this production was
confusing and I really did not understand the concept of this play ,but as it began to develop I began
to understand. I enjoyed the play it was very interesting and fierce. I am more of the type to like
musicals over any other theatre. This production made me like musicals even more. The way this
was presented was amazing and delightful. Im very happy that I attended this production. The main
theme in this production was revenge is never the answer. Sweeney Todd was ... Show more content

It took place in the entire play not only in one character, but multiple. The love Sweeney had for his
wife was unforgettable. The reason for him becoming a murder was because he would never see his
family again and be happy so he thought why should anyone else be able to. He decided that he
could not kill the judge so why not kill every man he thinks that deserves to die. However, another
theme that ties into love is that love influences every person's actions. Mr. Lovett shows
unconditional affection to Sweeney even if he was a murder. She plots and help him cover up
murders because she is so in love with him. She was willing to risk herself even though he would
not do the same. A minor theme could be how the government was corrupt back in those days. For
instance, seeing how the judge had so much power, he could do whatever he wanted, also it could
also be the relationship between parents and children. Even though Toby was the boy to work for
them, the reasoning behind Ms. Lovett taking him in is because she honestly wanted a family. The
relationship grows between these two individuals and it seems to be a mother and son relationship.
In the end she had to choose between her son or the man she loved. The sacrifice was major either

Benefits of Fleet Management Data Integration
Abstract
Huffman Trucking maintains extensive vehicle fleet maintenance logs, with data on vehicles, parts,
tires, maintenance, warranty, costs and dates of service. Management wants to know whether it
would be strategically advisable to integrate this information into their current data warehouse and
how to leverage it.
Investigation shows that there could be significant benefits in efficiency and cost reduction by this
consolidation and the appropriate analysis techniques. Regression analysis is recommended for this
data mining, to understand the relationships among independent and dependent variables ... Show

Are defective parts returns being handled properly? Too frequent scheduled inspections and
maintenance increase labor costs. Poor scheduling can result in fleet support staff being over or
under–utilized. Due to the highly skilled personnel involved, there could be significant costs
involved in not understanding the best use of their time. The vehicle fleet and its operational support
is the major cost driver in this industry. Optimal management is critical.
There has been much written on the different approaches to such data mining as described above.
Much is available from the vendors of data management and analysis software, including some
customized for fleet management. The company could decide to use one of these packages or utilize
in–house personnel to report against the new data in the expanded database. (Oracle, Collective
Data)
The United States Navy Submarine Maintenance Engineering, Planning and Procurement
(SUBMEPP) completed a study in 1962 in which the majority of components analyzed by
SUBMEPP did not demonstrate an age and reliability relationship and consequently, many existing
time directed component overhauls have been deleted from class maintenance plans, eliminating
significant costs and downtime (Allen, 1997). Regression analysis against Huffman's fleet
maintenance data could discover any relationships in scheduled maintenance and failure rates.
Because all data manipulation and analysis have

Metropolitan Community Theatre : The Comedy / Thriller /...
Midland Community Theatre presented the comedy/thriller/musical Sweeney Todd September 2 –
24, 2016, shown in Mabee Theatre II. This production was scripted by Hugh Wheeler and was co–
produced by CONCHO and directed by Tim Jebsen. The production was filled with cruel humor and
was seamlessly brought to life by the actors' flawless performances.
The plot of Sweeney Todd, follows the life of a barber after he has been kicked out of his country
and sent to jail. He has escaped prison and gone back to England to find the wife and child he left
behind, Lucy and Johanna. Yet when he arrives back in his home country Sweeney, played by
Mitchell Hurricane Smith, is distraught to find out that beloved wife, Lucy, was no longer there. At

What made the overall play interesting was where the actors preformed. The black box theatre, also
known as the Mabee theatre, consist of a very small stage with certain adaption for the play shown,
Sweeney Todd, and one background. The background was a grey bricked fence with lanterns at
certain peaks of the fence, the darkness of the grey brick made the setting all the more earie. The
unchanging background caused a challenge for the actors as some scenes took more skill than
others. Sweeney Todd had many scenes with different settings than what was provided. The
audience had to make a lot of inferencing which was quite enlightening considering how enjoyable
the show was. Lighting played a major role in the play as it helped develop the idea of certain
settings. With the acting, directing, stage setting, and technical roles the show truly felt as though it
was not in one place but rather many.
Now for the characters the brought the production alive. Miss. Lovett played a major role as she was
the instigator of the drama. At first seeming innocent Miss. Lovett turns out to be wicked and driven
by love, love that she would do anything to have. She creates the master plan to get Sweeney to
murder those who enter his barbershop so then she can take the murdered bodies and turn them into
meat for her meat pies. Her plan is a success up until Sweeney murders her after finding out she
twisted her words. The murder, Sweeney Todd, had always been wicked. After escaping

Fleet Management in Dtc
INTRODUCTION
Fleet management is the management of a company's transportation fleet. Fleet management
includes commercial motor vehicles such as cars, vans and trucks, as well as rail cars. Fleet
(vehicle) management can include a range of functions, such as vehicle financing, vehicle
maintenance, vehicle telemetric (tracking and diagnostics), driver management, speed management,
fuel management and health and safety management. Fleet Management is a function which allows
companies which rely on transportation in their business to remove or minimize the risks associated
with vehicle investment, improving efficiency, productivity and reducing their overall transportation
and staff costs, providing 100% compliance with government ... Show more content on

These specific tasks encompass all operations from vehicle acquisition to disposal. Software,
depending on its capabilities, allows functions such as driver and vehicle profiling, trip profiling,
dispatch, vehicle efficiency, etc. It can provide remote control features, such as Geo–fencing and
active disabling. Current vehicle diagnostic information can also be related to a management site,
depending on the type of hardware installed in the vehicles. New platform, based on Fleet
management software, is fleet controlling with higher amount of information available for both
drivers and dispatchers of a fleet. At this time (2012) online software platforms are very popular:
users no longer have to install software and they can access the software through a web browser.
Fleet Security and Control
Recent advances in fleet management allow for the addition of over–the–air (OTA) security and
control of fleet vehicles. Fleet Security and Control includes security of the vehicle while stopped or
not in operation and the ability to safely disable a vehicle while in operation. This allows the fleet
manager to recover stolen or rogue vehicles while reducing the chance of lost or stolen cargo. The
additional of Fleet Security and Control to a fleet management system gives a fleet card manager
preventative measures to address cargo damage and loss.

My Grandmother 's Enthusiasm For Learning
Of all the people and things that have influenced me thus far has to be the most amazing lady that I
have ever met, my grandmother. She's the kind of person who has thoughtful discussions about
which artist she would most likely want to meet in life whether musical or artistic, the kind of
grandmother who always had time for her family and the kind of advocate to voice her opinions on
the world and life as I've come to know it. Growing up with such a strong role model, I developed
many of her enthusiasms. I not only came to love the excitement of learning simply for the sake of
knowing something new, but also came to understand the idea of giving to family in exchange for a
new sense of life, love, and spirit. My grandmother's enthusiasm for learning is most apparent in
living life. I was about six years old when I started to realize this; my grandmother had me and my
two siblings join my mother in the new induction to life through baptism. It was at the same church
my family had gone to for years and years and the only one that I have ever known to be home to
me. It was in the weeks coming to our family event that my grandmother was educating me on the
purpose of baptism and the meaning to our lives once we have completed the task where I saw more
and more the enthusiasm in her eyes and heart of the importance to not only her but my family, the
church family and me in general. I vividly remember her singing hymns to me every night after I
asked her how it would feel after I

JAPANESE STRATEGIC FAILURES IN THE SPRING OF 1942
Essay
"After successfully executing operations in the Southeast and the Southwest Pacific by the spring of
1942, what should Japan have done next?"
"I can run wild for six months ... after that, I have no expectation of success."
Unconfirmed quotation attributed to Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, Commander–in–Chief Japanese
Combined Fleet.
Setting the stage Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto is believed to have foretold of the suffering that was to
befall Japan, and in fact was said to have argued heavily against waking a "sleeping giant." Did
Yamamoto recognize the shortcomings of Japan's war strategy even before the first shots were fired?
Planners of the first strike at Pearl Harbor, including Admiral Fukodome, argue that the ... Show

Even in the years leading up to the war, Japan's military believed in the superiority of their
technology and personnel. For instance, even when Japanese naval leaders correctly perceived the
shift of carrier–based aircraft becoming the predominant offensive capability, they made the error of
believing that American naval air would never be a worthy opponent. 2 pg. 359
Once success is tasted, the possibility of failure becomes less believable. The Japanese were able to
move so swiftly in the Pacific in the first 6 months of war that they seemingly believed that they
could continue uncontested indefinitely. Once again, as in their early victories in the Russo–
Japanese War over three decades earlier, Japan possessed in the stronger hand at the outset of
conflict, because they were the initiators the conflict and had the capability to plan for all of the
moves they would make at the outset. Their opponents in both wars were initially left with no choice
but to only be able to react to Japanese attacks, and in only limited fashion were the opponents able
to turn the tables and force the Japanese to react. An example of being able to 'turn the tables' was
the April 1942 Doolittle raid, which forced the Japanese to change their operational plan to one of
requiring the destruction of the U.S. carrier fleet. The fact

Skecthing Gustave Calliebotte's Paris Street; Rainy Day
I can smell the rain on my jacket as my fingers numbly make their way across the pad, trying their
best to capture an instant in time on a piece of yellow, college–ruled, notebook paper, despite my
now apparent lack of artistic ability. As I am watching the scene unfold, I hardly notice the people
walking around me, gazing at the same thing I am, before they move on. Cuddling under an
umbrella, a man and his wife are casually strolling through the light fog. Their attention is caught by
something off to their right, so he does not notice when his top hat is almost bumped to one side by
the umbrella as another pedestrian tries to pass on the narrow sidewalk. Further off in the ... Show

The buildings are just far enough away and draped in a delicate fog that their details remain slightly
imperceptible. But in retrospect, this entire painting lacks any distinct quality, yet possesses a
magical ability to draw one into the scene and envelope them in the mystery and serenity of that
Parisian evening.
I am certain that while I was sketching the work, I became an obstacle for many of the other patrons
of the Art Institute, which is one of the reasons I sat down. But from this vantage point I had the
opportunity to marvel at the grand scope of this composition. Gustave Calliebotte's Paris Street;
Rainy Day has the peculiar ability to exist in duality. Standing close to the canvas, I could feel
myself pulled into the scene that took place over 120 years ago. I could feel the dampness in my hair
and smell the rain on my clothes, although I must attribute at least part of that to the rainy Chicago
weather I encountered before entering the museum. From a closer perspective, the life–size
characters effectively contribute to the realism of the piece. The immense size of the painting itself
helps to incorporate the viewer into the scene. Being close, it feels as though this Parisian
intersection could wrap around you, and standing there I would not be terribly surprised if I turned
around to see nothing but the rest of the street, continuing through the brick–laden

L'Oréal S.A. is a global cosmetics and beauty company who initiated several actions over the years
to implement a global diversity strategy. Balustre–D'Erneville, Europe diversity director, was
working with the various country units and she believed that they faced many obstacles, such as
"cultural differences between countries and a low–level awareness of the benefits a diversity
strategy could bring" (The University of Western Ontario, 2010, p. 2). Basically, the company had a
5–line diversity strategy, which included Recruitment & Integration; Management; Career

East Of Eden Directed By Elia Kazan
The 1955 dramatic film, East of Eden, directed by Elia Kazan, is a movie adaptation of the popular
book written in 1952. Throughout this drama, moviegoers embark on a journey through various
thematic topics such as the idea of good vs evil, the importance of repentance and redemption, and
the human ideal of free will. For example, multiple characters in the film are split into two
categories: those who are naturally good and those who are naturally evil. With this idea, characters
either act how they are born or act on their free will to be who they want to be. The film employs a
wide cast of talented actors who bring all their characters and roles to life. The main character, Cal
Trask, however is played by probably the most famous actor of the bunch, James Dean, who plays it
awesomely. Cal's character is supposed to be of someone who is always internally troubling and
confused and James easily shows this in this role. Richard Davalos, plays the character of Aron,
Cal's brother, with absolute beauty as well. Aron, in the book, is supposed to represent what is good
and innocent and Richard shows this characteristic evidently in his acting style. The father of Cal
and Aron, Adam, is then played by Raymond Massey who is able to tie the story together very well.
Raymond's acting in being constantly angry and disappointed in Cal is what allows James to bring
out the light in Cal since Adam has a huge effect on Cal's character in the story. Another major

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street
Set in Victorian England, Hugh Wheeler's, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street,
explores the vicious cycle of poverty through characters who are forced into economic submission
by the upper class. A prime example of the perpetuation of this cycle is through the character of
Tobias Raggs, a young child labourer. Examined through the lens of the Marxist supersystem,
Tobias Raggs is the desperate image of poverty, born into a set class and robbed of a childhood as
well as any opportunity for him to advance in society, ultimately forcing him to continue the cycle
of capitalism.
The Marxist theory of a supersystem suggests that a system of regulations and authority forces is
instilled and enforced by the upper class in order to ensure that the lower class remains immobile
and inferior socially, economically, and politically. Through the character of Raggs, the dominance
of that supersystem over the lives of the working class is depicted as inherent and ... Show more

Lovett in her pie shop. Though no longer enduring the abuse inflicted upon him by Pirelli, Raggs
remains a child labourer and reliant on the employment of Mrs. Lovett for survival. Work for poor
children was rarely an option, rather a basic necessity to live; "[p]oor children had to work. They
were lucky if they went to school" (Primary History). As a result of poverty being so deeply rooted
within the Victorian society, any opportunity for receiving an education was compromised for work
towards a meager pay.
This inevitability of work which will trap the lower class, both economically and socially, as
opposed to education, which would offer a way out of the cycle, reinforced the Karl Marx's theory
of the supersystem. The supersystem being conditions imposed upon the working class by the upper
class to disable the working class' opportunity to advance economically and

Throughout my time here, Cindy has taught me the ins and outs of supply chain, product

As stated by Drucker in this week's reading "...you couldn't predict the environment of the future.
However, what you could do is create the future (Cohen, 2008)." Throughout my years here, I have
seen the forward thinking mentality of Cindy. She is truly a woman beyond her years. She has spent
the last 20 years creating a name for herself in this organization and it has certainly not gone
unnoticed. I have witnessed the creation of new programs used to support the fleet, and even Cindy's
hands on approach to problem solving at the root of the issue, as opposed to waiting until the issue
hit her desk. This is another aspect of business acumen that I believe Cindy truly possessed; the
ability to handle decisions so that the future brings good outcomes. I could never ask for a better
working environment or a better, more knowledgeable boss. I have observed these skills and will
apply them to my career one day. I hope to be a manager that people enjoy working for, but also
trust to make the right decisions for all parties involved. I believe I have learned those traits from
Cindy in my very short, but very informative time here.

What I Learned About Magic
I used to not believed in mythical creatures, magic, or spirits, I never liked the movies or books with

I have found the 2007 movie Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street by Tim Burton to be

been around in various plays since 1846 and made into a movie in 1936.
The movie begins with the character Benjamin Barker on a journey to London. Through a series of
songs and flashbacks, it reveals that Sweeney Todd is an alias name of Benjamin Barker. Barker had
escaped from Australia after serving 15 years for a wrongful sentence in prison. Rescued at sea by a
sailor called Anthony Hope, he makes his way on to London. Barker tells him how he was the best
barber in all Victorian London. He tells Hope of his loving, beautiful wife Lucy and his daughter

A Good Number Of Films Produced By Tim Burton Prompt...
On the surface, a good number of films produced by Tim Burton prompt similar themes of dark
satire and grisly outcomes. However, throughout the progress of the film Sweeney Todd: The
Demon Barber of Fleet Street, I found my initial impressions of the typically grim director to be
baseless and skewed. From being introduced to songs like No Place Like London and my personal
favorite, A Little Priest, to the surreal interpretation of lust, loss, and revenge; Burton's establishes
his take on mischief, malice, and meat pies through each individual scene and character
development. Moreover, each musical number complements not only the twist and turns of the plot,
but also each character's respective personalities. The reinterpretation of what ... Show more content

After returning to the place that gave him hurt, Sweeney Todd outs two scam artists, one of them
named Adolfo, who are selling a potion to a cure for hair loss and defeats them in a shaving
competition. The song at this arc that stands out the most is The Contest, not because it is centered
on this scenario, but because the visionaries of the play and film adaption did an excellent job in
portraying the times of penny dreadfuls. This is also where we get to see a contrast between
characters – Todd vs. Adolfo. Coincidentally, Adolfo had previously worked for Sweeney Todd and
attempted to blackmail him, but was eventually murdered by Todd.
Sweeney Todd's friend Anthony, the boy who accompanied him on the ship back to London, informs
Todd of his plan to elope with Todd's daughter, Johanna, which places him in direct competition
with Judge Turpin for Johanna's hand in marriage. Judge Turpin finally finds his way into the
clutches of Sweeney Todd, but before Todd can exact his revenge, his friend Anthony reveals his
plan to elope with Johanna. Judge Turpin storms out and Sweeney Todd drives Anthony from the
premises in a fit of rage. Sweeney Todd suddenly takes a mass murderous turn and decides that all
people deserve to die: the wealthy for their sins and corruption and the poor to be taken out of their
misery. Thus ends the first act of the play.
Fast forward, weeks after the events that just occurred, Sweeney Todd and Mrs.

The New England Convicts
Convicts were first bought to Australia in the year 1788 with the first fleet which was led by Captain
Arthur Phillips. In the first fleet, there were 11 ships with a total of 717 convicts aboard. The ships
were called, Alexander, Borrowdale, Charlotte, Fishburn, Friendship, Golden Grove, Lady Penrhyn,
Prince of Wales, Scarborough, HMS Sirius and HMS Supply. Out of these 11 ships, 6 of them were
used to transport convicts. These 6 ships were, Alexander, Charlotte, Friendship, Lady Penrhyn,

That was until 1783 when the American War of Independence ended. When America refused to take
in anymore convicts, the English were forced to take the prisoners somewhere else. Due to prisons
overcrowding, they were still thinking where to put all these convict. Their solution, was to put them
in old, rotting prison ship known as hulks. Hulks were normally old naval ships that could not go out
into sea and fight but they were still able to safely float on the water in the harbour. Once all the
hulks were full with convicts, they began shipping them out to Australia because they thought that
no one owns the land and was big enough to hold convicts for many years. One other reason that
they moved these criminals here was because their old system was very cruel and it really disturbed
the public. Their system was to chop the head off of the criminal. Due to the finding of Australia, it
gave the English a new opportunity, for both the expansion of the empire and a place to keep the
convicts. The bringing back of the ancient method of banishment, reduced the population stress in
the Western parts of Europe by the less horrific methods in the newly identified territories. This idea
of banishing the criminals was the replacement for the death sentence. The death sentence was not
fully removed, as it still existed for the people who committed major crimes. There was amnesty of
the death sentence for the people that committed minor crimes.
What work did the convicts do on arrival to Australia?
The work a convict did, was dependent on who they worked for, what skills they had and where
they worked. Now we are going to look at how a convict's day went by. Rules &

Bradstreet shift her thoughts into the spiritual perspective, by writing that there is no way she can

love for each other as fully as possible so when they both died, their love can continue be eternal in
heaven as well. In the Puritan society, marriage was a central relationship. Men and women married

Rhetorical Devices in Night Walker by Brent Staples Essay
Brent Staples uses vivid language and rhetorical devices to express and convey the elements of fear,
anger, and violence. We all make many decisions based on past experiences. That's how we learn to
avoid touching a hot stove burner for example. It's also about how we learn to do things that bring
us pleasure. So we all develop discriminating behavior, but when that discrimination is based purely
on the color on that person's skin, or his ethnicity, without knowing anything else about that person,
it becomes racism. Being a malicious looking black man, walking the streets at night may give
someone the idea that you're a rapist, killer, robber, or even a stalker. Nearly everyone has

They were babies, really – a teenage cousin, a brother of 22, a childhood friend in his mid–20s all

stories of conflict and pathos to illustrate violence and the emotional/physical price it has on people
and their attitudes. Being subject to racism and discrimination is demeaning and debilitating. In fact
they can lead you to anger. "Relatively speaking, however, I never fared as badly as another black
male journalist."(paragraph.8) Stemming from racism is common when someone is mistreated or
falsely accused of something because of their race. "Mistaking the reporter for the killer, police
officers hauled him from his car at gunpoint and but for his press credentials would probably have
tried to book him. Such episodes are not uncommon. Black men trade tales like this all the time."
(paragraph.8) Staples portrays anger using euphemism and implies that the anger sterns from
stereotyping of African Americans. These real life experiences and the vivid imagery give the reader
an acute awareness into the harmful effects of racism.. Fear, violence, and anger brought on by
racism all provide the foundation of the story "Night Walker" by Brent Staples. The author uses
personal life experiences and vivid imagery to ingress upon the reader the impact of discrimination.

Comparison Between Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber Of Fleet...
The first movie ever made was The Horse in Motion which was created by Eadweard Muybridge in
1878. I hope to see people talk about the events that happen in the movie, and how they end up
affecting the events of the story. In my speech I will analyze multiple movies, the elements in them,
and how the actions of the characters in them affect the story. I choose to do it this way, so people
can have some examples, and know things to look for. There are two movies I will mainly focus on
they are Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Pulp Fiction. I will also talk about
other movies, but they are not my main focus. I will do this do hopeful convince you that there is
more to a movie then what you can see. I shall begin every analyzation of the movies will a short
summary of them. Now with further ado I shall give a short short summary of Sweeney Todd The
Demon Barber of fleet street. There are three characters i'm going to focus on in Sweeney Todd, and
they are Sweeney Todd, Lucy, and Johanna. Sweeney Todd AKA Benjamin Barker is a barber on
Fleet street in London. Lucy is Todd's wife that's her main point for now. Johanna is their daughter.
Early in the story Benjamin gets sent away by the judge who wants Lucy for himself. Lucy is then
alone, and is sent to a masquerade by the judge's assistant. Where something bad happens to her. She
then later poisons herself. Johanna was taken away by the judge and he adopted her. Fifteen years
past and Benjamin Barker comes back as Sweeney Todd. He also bring alongs Anthony who helped
him on his travels. He goes back to where is barber shop was, and meets Ms.Lovett. She tells him
that Lucy poisoned herself. Todds like i'm gonna kill that judge, Which he ends up doing. Also
Ms.Lovett makes the meat pies out of humans. Now that you know the parts of the story that you
need to know i can begin the analysis. There is a crazed lady outside where Johanna is kept.
Anthony talks to her and he asked who is that lady in the window, and she knew that that was
Johanna. She is then seen outside of Ms. Lovett's meat pie shop, and says she see that sign of the
devil outside of it. Ms.Lovett kicks her out multiple times because she is on to her. Todd later kills
her, but

Perspective Essay on the Code of the Streets
Perspective Essay on The Code of the Streets
Culture in urban communities, also referred to as inner–cities, are growing increasingly violent. In
the article, The Code of the Streets by Elijah Anderson, he begins to take an in–depth look at the
root of the evil. He deduces that economic factors, parenting and the troublesome environments
largely influence the violent norms within this culture.
Anderson notes that two groups coexist simultaneously in the inner–cities which he labels as the
"decent" and the "streets." Although both groups suffer economic difficulties, they differ in values
mainly instilled through parenting and the home environment. The decent group seeks to adopt
mainstream middle–class values, such as a love, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Robberies, violence and drug–dealing transgressions are a constant fear of many. The decent
families although opposed to the norms of the ghetto, encourage their children to understand and
respect the code of the streets in an effort to protect themselves. Also, many youths in the inner–
cities try to behave as others within their sub–culture. A child might dress or speak a certain way
that a race is labeled to be standard to fit in. For example, a Caucasian individual may dress in
baggy clothes and speak in slang in public to imitate what people label the African American youth
to be uniform. However, this individual in some instances could act completely different at home or
in other environments such as family gatherings or church. Anderson begins to analyze the troubled
culture by first looking at the home environment and behaviors during childhood. The values differ
drastically between the two groups. He states that the decent families are typically working families
and try to instill positive values in their children. They hope to provide a nurturing environment and
aid their children in pursuing a successful future. They are involved in their performance in school
and have home rules to abide by. They have curfews for their children and generally know where
and whom they are with at all times, especially young children. They try to prepare their children for
the unknown and possible confrontations with

Personal Narrative Essay : My Day Dream
Guns bursting all around me. Soldiers lying in pain screaming out in pain. Artillery raining down,
dirt flying everywhere. Then I hear a bomb whistling down on my position.¨ John?! John?! Are you
okay?¨ I come out of a daze to find out it was my boss William asking me if I was alright. ¨Yes Sir. I
am fine.¨ I said. ¨Alright then get back to work.¨ William said. So I continued my work until the
final work whistle rang. As I walked to my home in mist, I see people on the streets asking for
change and begging for the scrapes from the bakery. As I got to the house where I live. When I came
into my house my wife was cooking a stew on the stove. She asked, "How was work today honey."
Well I wanted to tell her about my day dream but I decided not to so I just answered as, " Fine." We
were at the dinner table eating our dinner, then she asked if I get laid off, What would be our source
of income. That question made me puzzled and I didn't go to sleep that night until I found out what
it would be. When I did fall asleep I had this horrible dream. Me and my wife were living life on the
street, in poverty. I woke up to sweat dripping down my face. The clock read 3:57. I got up and
walked down to the kitchen and drank some milk from the fridge. The thought crossed my mind
again, What if I did live on the streets. If I get laid off this will be our future. I finally went back to
bed then I awoke to my wife cooking breakfast. I walked down the stairs. It was toast with coffee. I
could smell the coffee from the stair well. After I finished my morning meal I went to work. When
that day changed very different. I walked to work just as I do everyday. When I got to work my boss

told my wife that I had to go to the riots that have broken out in Washington D.C. I went upstairs

Boston from 1850–1900 There was no time in Boston that was most emphasized, than the 1850's to

It was the same with the omnibus that was created in 1826, because it moved slowly and didn't hold
many people. The steam railroad was another form of transportation that was introduced in 1835 and
it was a better form of transportation because it moved quicker and could hold many more
passengers, but it was also expensive and didn't always take the people to where they wanted to go
because it didn't stop very often, and only went one route.
There were land changes that occurred during the second half of the 19th century such as the South

and they were the most aggressive expansion in the 19th century. From the 1880's to the 1890's
street railways took up at least six miles from City Hall in Boston. The service of the first railway

Bryn slid into the chair opposite Tony, slapping his hand on the table. He nodded briefly to the
waitress as he settled in. Tony eyed the data crystal with mixed feelings.
"That's everything I could find on Fancher and his crew," Bryn said without equivocation. "Pretty
standard stuff; Fancher is career Fleet. Commanding officer of the Rankori for 6 years, service
record reads like a Fleet novel." Bryn sipped the coffee the waitress placed in front of him,
grimacing at it before adding copious amounts of sugar. "XO is Nate Little, came outta the Academy
about the time Fancher took command; third in his class." He stirred the sugar in, then sipped it
again; this time smiling in pleasure.
"Anything interesting at all?" Tony asked palming the crystal. Bryn shrugged, toying with his spoon.
"Not among the Bridge staff." He said softly. "But the Rankori's Flight Commander is something
different." His eyes dropped to the table in front of him.
"How so?" Tony asked eyeing Bryn carefully.
"She's only been Fleet for three years, been Flight Commander for 2 of those three years." Bryn's
voice lowered. "She's got one hell of a kill record, probably the best that Fleet has to offer." He
nodded toward the data crystal in Tony's hand. "Found this in the Fleet archives; it's from about four

Sweeney Todd : The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, was an excellent choice for this assignment, as
many key, prominent psychological signs and symptoms are prevalent in the majority of characters.
Though excellent cases of psychological abnormalities can be found throughout the film,
unfortunately, we could only choose one. As a result, we believe the most interesting character to
diagnose would be the main character Benjamin Barker: also known as Sweeney Todd. Before we
delve into diagnoses, a little background will be helpful to fully comprehend the caliber of the
situation. The setting is Victorian–era London, a time at which insane asylums were the predominant
form of managing every type of psychological disorder. At this time, poverty levels were high and
the majority of citizens were of a low socioeconomic status. Sanitation was low and disease
prevalence was extremely high, yielding an increased population with predisposition to certain
psychological disorders. The character Sweeney Todd is introduced at the beginning of the movie
sailing into a port located in London, England. In the opening scenes, an accompanying character is
bright and cheery, which is met by Mr. Todd with anger and frustration. It is worth mentioning at
this point that the entirety of the film is observed through a gray lens; skies are dark and colors are
muted, portraying a depressed atmosphere. We learn later in the film that this depressive state is as
result of past events, specifically that

First British Settlers in Australia Essay
When did the British settlers arrive at Australia?
The first fleet arrived at Botany Bay on the 18th of January 1788 which was later declared as an
official prison. The Captain of the fleet, Captain Phillips however found out that the harbour was in
lack of fresh water therefore was unsuitable for conviction. The fleet then redirected to Port Jackson
which then marked the official first European landing on Sydney Harbour.
While setting up the official penal colony 751 convicts along with 252 marines were released and
eventually given land to start a new colony. Later in 1790 and 1791 two more conflict fleets arrived
along with the first free settlers in 1793. From 1788 the penal colony was officially set up with

They were taking their natural resources therefore a group of Aborigines launched a series of attack
on the settlers.
The battle between the settlers and Aborigines increased when Macquarie became Governor and
believed that the Aborigines should be civilised. This is another way of saying to convert Aboriginal
ways into European ways. Macquarie tried very hard to teach new techniques or educating them
however these failures made him very mad and desperate. In his perspective the rightful last resort
was to put the Aboriginal land and people under his control by saying anyone is permitted to shoot

What Infectious diseases were introduced to the Aborigines?
The infectious diseases that were introduced by the British settlers were an immediate consequence
which caused the Aboriginal population to decrease dramatically. The Aborigines had no sort of
contact with the diseases brought therefore their bodies couldn't development an immune or adapt to
them. The most common epidemic diseases spread drastically and killed many people. These
diseases included the chickenpox, smallpox and measles. The Aborigines were even reported by the
British saying they were exterminated in Tasmania showing how devastating the diseases impacted

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street
"Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" Directed by Tim Burton is a chilling Musical
about a Baber, Sweeney himself, exacting revenge on a judge who had torn him from his happy life.
Praised for its execution and well casted roles Tim Burton's adaption of "Sweeney Todd" has
become a favorite for many viewers seeking the darker side of theater. While many agree that the
film is a master piece there are those whom must resist the grain of society and dare I say go against

writing for the New York Times, had Found the film to be a delight. He focused on the
entertainment that the film provided to the viewer and the continued joy that one may feel after the

merely enter the theater to lose themselves in the story and perhaps forget something in the process.
Scott praises the film for its dark comedy and use of gore that both enthralled and revolted his
senses. "It may seem strange that I am praising a work of such unremitting savagery. I confess that

c) Leasing.
Leasing refers to a vehicle procured for a fixed length of time. The operator never owns the vehicle

There are different types of finance arrangements used for the leasing of fleet vehicles.

It was February 15th and Thomas Schmidt was driving to TomTom's headquarters in Amsterdam,
anxious to celebrate with his team the achievement of 2017's first milestone: surpassing the barrier

Essay about Brent Staples A Brothers Murder
Brent Staples' A Brother's Murder
A belief I feel very strongly about proposes that all problems faced by our society have solutions. If
this belief is true, why do problems still face us today? The answer could be a result of either
laziness by the people in our society in finding these solutions or just the fact that there are too many
problems to solve. Maybe this belief I have is too far out of reach to be true.
On the other hand, Brent Staples, a well–respected writer, seems to share this idea with me. In his
works, he displays a great deal of motivation to solve particular problems faced by society. In
"A Brother's Murder," he uses a personal account of murder within the streets caused by

In most other parts of the country, you can have an argument with one of your best friends and not
get killed over it. Blake was shot six time s by a good friend over an argument about a former
girlfriend.
Brent Staples grew up in the same type of atmosphere as his little brother Blake. As Staples explains
in paragraph four of "A Brother's Murder," he chose a different lifestyle. He disagreed
with the childish attitude of the death–ridden people on his street. He chose a path of going to
college and leading a successful career. He was lucky enough and smart enough to leave those
streets. "Upwardly mobile" was how Brent put it. In Blake's lifestyle moving up means
killing more people to gain social standing within his gang.
Brent took a trip to his brother's home to intervene with his situation.
What he saw was someone taken over by life on the streets. He was obsessed by this lifestyle of
teetering between life and death, because that was all for which he had to live. This was clear on the
surface, but his own brother could look deeper. He could see his true human character. Brent saw his
brother as a human being who he cared deeply for and wanted to help. However, when our society
looks at these people killing each other, they see young kids with no hope and no feelings. I believe
this inability to give people a chance is what

Bradstreet: Extravagant And Successful Life
Anne 'Dudley" Bradstreet lived an extravagant and successful life. She was born March 20th, 1612
in Northampton. She had a British nationality and was considered to be a serious poet. Spending a
lot of time in the library, she better understood literature. Anne graduated from Cambridge
University at age sixteen. Two years later at age eighteen, she left England with her family and the
Winthrop Puritan Group and settled in Ipswich, Massachusetts. Bradstreet was the daughter of
Dorothy Yorke and Thomas Dudley. Thomas was once the mayor of Massachusetts. Sadly, Dorothy
died at the age of sixty–one and Thomas died at seventy–seven. Having a soft spot for her parents,
Anne wrote remembrance and epitaphs for both her mother and father after their

Operational Level Command And Control Requires Both The
Operational level command and control requires both the effective execution of mission command
and integration of the joint functions. During Operation Husky, the Allies did not have a shared
understanding of the mission, did not have a clear understanding of commander's intent, and did not
exhibit mutual trust during the campaign. Disjointed Mission Command repeatedly prevented the
Allies from capitalizing on the Allies' collective combat power.
While the Allied Naval forces came through with incredible logistical accomplishments in the joint
function of sustainment, the Allies' poor execution of movement and maneuver ultimately allowed
Germany's withdraw from Sicily. Although the Allies failed to put forth a united effort, they ... Show

During the campaign, General Alexander's inability to grasp the significance of a German
withdrawal echoed the Allies' lack of understanding at the Casablanca Conference. On the ground,
neither LTG Patton's 7th Army nor Montgomery's 8th Army understood that the true center of
gravity for the campaign lay in defeating the German forces and preventing their withdrawal.
Instead, the 7th Army and 8th Army sacked one town after another and got mired in various
embattlements, which gave the Germans enough time to withdraw to Italy in significant numbers.
This strategic blunder was a direct result of the lack of understanding. Commander's intent, the
second key component of Mission Command, provides subordinate commanders and units with a
"clear and concise expression of the purpose of the operation and the desired military end state."
Leaders who understand the commander's intent can use that information to fill in any gaps in
information as those commanders move their units on the battlefield. In doing so, commanders can
achieve battlefield synergy when faced with poor communications from higher. The Casablanca
Conference left U.S. service members, and their general officers "with an imperfect understanding
of the ultimate purpose" of Operation Husky. "This lack of clarity would ultimately have an adverse
impact on the resolution of the campaign." England saw Operation Husky as the first of several
peripheral fights that would attack

  • 5. Sweeney Todd Summary I. Intro. The play Sweeney Todd has been performed on numerous stages since 1979. The 1982 version of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, was directed by Harold Prince. Unfortunately, I watched a recoded production of the play; the recoding took place in 1982 but was based off the 1979 production. Over all my impression of Sweeney Todd, is that the play has a bitter–sweet tone that supports all the killing, lying, and deceiving that goes on in the play just so that Sweeney Todd could get his so called revenge. II. Body Paragraph 1: a. The scene that has interesting scenery would be one hour and twenty–two minutes into the recorded production. The scene is of Mrs. Lovett's restaurant; her restaurant is packed with people as Toby serves the guest meat pies. Mrs. Lovett's restaurant has an antique look to it. She has a wooden wall that has a faded green color painted on it; against the while is a chest, poster, and a door. Mrs. Lovett, herself standing next to a white bar like table, it is very high. She also has a barrel being supported by some type of stand in her restaurant. Next to the platform that her restaurant is set up on is a table were her customers sit and eat he meat pies. b. The scenery in this moment did provide a sense of location. Based off how the scene was set up anyone in the audience would've been able to known that the current location of the play was Mrs. Lovett's shop. III. Body Paragraph2: a. It took place at the Cabe Theatre on Hendrix Campus. This play was November 2nd through November 4th at 7:30 pm and also November 5th at 2:00 pm. At first this production was confusing and I really did not understand the concept of this play ,but as it began to develop I began to understand. I enjoyed the play it was very interesting and fierce. I am more of the type to like musicals over any other theatre. This production made me like musicals even more. The way this was presented was amazing and delightful. Im very happy that I attended this production. The main theme in this production was revenge is never the answer. Sweeney Todd was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It took place in the entire play not only in one character, but multiple. The love Sweeney had for his wife was unforgettable. The reason for him becoming a murder was because he would never see his family again and be happy so he thought why should anyone else be able to. He decided that he could not kill the judge so why not kill every man he thinks that deserves to die. However, another theme that ties into love is that love influences every person's actions. Mr. Lovett shows unconditional affection to Sweeney even if he was a murder. She plots and help him cover up murders because she is so in love with him. She was willing to risk herself even though he would not do the same. A minor theme could be how the government was corrupt back in those days. For instance, seeing how the judge had so much power, he could do whatever he wanted, also it could also be the relationship between parents and children. Even though Toby was the boy to work for them, the reasoning behind Ms. Lovett taking him in is because she honestly wanted a family. The relationship grows between these two individuals and it seems to be a mother and son relationship. In the end she had to choose between her son or the man she loved. The sacrifice was major either route she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Management wants to know whether it would be strategically advisable to integrate this information into their current data warehouse and how to leverage it. Are defective parts returns being handled properly? Too frequent scheduled inspections and maintenance increase labor costs. Poor scheduling can result in fleet support staff being over or under–utilized. Due to the highly skilled personnel involved, there could be significant costs involved in not understanding the best use of their time. The vehicle fleet and its operational support is the major cost driver in this industry. Optimal management is critical. There has been much written on the different approaches to such data mining as described above. Much is available from the vendors of data management and analysis software, including some customized for fleet management. The company could decide to use one of these packages or utilize in–house personnel to report against the new data in the expanded database. (Oracle, Collective Data) The United States Navy Submarine Maintenance Engineering, Planning and Procurement (SUBMEPP) completed a study in 1962 in which the majority of components analyzed by SUBMEPP did not demonstrate an age and reliability relationship and consequently, many existing time directed component overhauls have been deleted from class maintenance plans, eliminating significant costs and downtime (Allen, 1997). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What made the overall play interesting was where the actors preformed. The black box theatre, also known as the Mabee theatre, consist of a very small stage with certain adaption for the play shown, Sweeney Todd, and one background. The background was a grey bricked fence with lanterns at certain peaks of the fence, the darkness of the grey brick made the setting all the more earie. The unchanging background caused a challenge for the actors as some scenes took more skill than others. Sweeney Todd had many scenes with different settings than what was provided. The audience had to make a lot of inferencing which was quite enlightening considering how enjoyable the show was. Lighting played a major role in the play as it helped develop the idea of certain settings. With the acting, directing, stage setting, and technical roles the show truly felt as though it was not in one place but rather many. Now for the characters the brought the production alive. Miss. Lovett played a major role as she was the instigator of the drama. At first seeming innocent Miss. Lovett turns out to be wicked and driven by love, love that she would do anything to have. She creates the master plan to get Sweeney to murder those who enter his barbershop so then she can take the murdered bodies and turn them into meat for her meat pies. • 15. My Grandmother 's Enthusiasm For Learning Of all the people and things that have influenced me thus far has to be the most amazing lady that I have ever met, my grandmother. She's the kind of person who has thoughtful discussions about which artist she would most likely want to meet in life whether musical or artistic, the kind of grandmother who always had time for her family and the kind of advocate to voice her opinions on the world and life as I've come to know it. Growing up with such a strong role model, I developed many of her enthusiasms. I not only came to love the excitement of learning simply for the sake of knowing something new, but also came to understand the idea of giving to family in exchange for a new sense of life, love, and spirit. My grandmother's enthusiasm for learning is most apparent in living life. I was about six years old when I started to realize this; my grandmother had me and my two siblings join my mother in the new induction to life through baptism. It was at the same church my family had gone to for years and years and the only one that I have ever known to be home to me. It was in the weeks coming to our family event that my grandmother was educating me on the purpose of baptism and the meaning to our lives once we have completed the task where I saw more and more the enthusiasm in her eyes and heart of the importance to not only her but my family, the church family and me in general. JAPANESE STRATEGIC FAILURES IN THE SPRING OF 1942 Essay "After successfully executing operations in the Southeast and the Southwest Pacific by the spring of 1942, what should Japan have done next?" "I can run wild for six months ... after that, I have no expectation of success." Unconfirmed quotation attributed to Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, Commander–in–Chief Japanese Combined Fleet. Setting the stage Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto is believed to have foretold of the suffering that was to befall Japan, and in fact was said to have argued heavily against waking a "sleeping giant." For instance, even when Japanese naval leaders correctly perceived the shift of carrier–based aircraft becoming the predominant offensive capability, they made the error of believing that American naval air would never be a worthy opponent. 2 pg. 359 Once success is tasted, the possibility of failure becomes less believable. The Japanese were able to move so swiftly in the Pacific in the first 6 months of war that they seemingly believed that they could continue uncontested indefinitely. Once again, as in their early victories in the Russo– Japanese War over three decades earlier, Japan possessed in the stronger hand at the outset of conflict, because they were the initiators the conflict and had the capability to plan for all of the moves they would make at the outset. Their opponents in both wars were initially left with no choice but to only be able to react to Japanese attacks, and in only limited fashion were the opponents able to turn the tables and force the Japanese to react. An example of being able to 'turn the tables' was the April 1942 Doolittle raid, which forced the Japanese to change their operational plan to one of requiring the destruction of the U.S. carrier fleet. Skecthing Gustave Calliebotte's Paris Street; Rainy Day I can smell the rain on my jacket as my fingers numbly make their way across the pad, trying their best to capture an instant in time on a piece of yellow, college–ruled, notebook paper, despite my now apparent lack of artistic ability. As I am watching the scene unfold, I hardly notice the people walking around me, gazing at the same thing I am, before they move on. Cuddling under an umbrella, a man and his wife are casually strolling through the light fog. Their attention is caught by something off to their right, so he does not notice when his top hat is almost bumped to one side by the umbrella as another pedestrian tries to pass on the narrow sidewalk. But in retrospect, this entire painting lacks any distinct quality, yet possesses a magical ability to draw one into the scene and envelope them in the mystery and serenity of that Parisian evening. I am certain that while I was sketching the work, I became an obstacle for many of the other patrons of the Art Institute, which is one of the reasons I sat down. But from this vantage point I had the opportunity to marvel at the grand scope of this composition. Gustave Calliebotte's Paris Street; Rainy Day has the peculiar ability to exist in duality. Standing close to the canvas, I could feel myself pulled into the scene that took place over 120 years ago. I could feel the dampness in my hair and smell the rain on my clothes, although I must attribute at least part of that to the rainy Chicago weather I encountered before entering the museum. From a closer perspective, the life–size characters effectively contribute to the realism of the piece. The immense size of the painting itself helps to incorporate the viewer into the scene. • 23. East Of Eden Directed By Elia Kazan The 1955 dramatic film, East of Eden, directed by Elia Kazan, is a movie adaptation of the popular book written in 1952. Throughout this drama, moviegoers embark on a journey through various thematic topics such as the idea of good vs evil, the importance of repentance and redemption, and the human ideal of free will. For example, multiple characters in the film are split into two categories: those who are naturally good and those who are naturally evil. With this idea, characters either act how they are born or act on their free will to be who they want to be. The film employs a wide cast of talented actors who bring all their characters and roles to life. The main character, Cal Trask, however is played by probably the most famous actor of the bunch, James Dean, who plays it awesomely. Cal's character is supposed to be of someone who is always internally troubling and confused and James easily shows this in this role. Richard Davalos, plays the character of Aron, Cal's brother, with absolute beauty as well. Aron, in the book, is supposed to represent what is good and innocent and Richard shows this characteristic evidently in his acting style. The father of Cal and Aron, Adam, is then played by Raymond Massey who is able to tie the story together very well. Raymond's acting in being constantly angry and disappointed in Cal is what allows James to bring out the light in Cal since Adam has a huge effect on Cal's character in the story. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street Set in Victorian England, Hugh Wheeler's, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, explores the vicious cycle of poverty through characters who are forced into economic submission by the upper class. A prime example of the perpetuation of this cycle is through the character of Tobias Raggs, a young child labourer. Examined through the lens of the Marxist supersystem, Tobias Raggs is the desperate image of poverty, born into a set class and robbed of a childhood as well as any opportunity for him to advance in society, ultimately forcing him to continue the cycle of capitalism. The Marxist theory of a supersystem suggests that a system of regulations and authority forces is instilled and enforced by the upper class in order to ensure that the lower class remains immobile and inferior socially, economically, and politically. Through the character of Raggs, the dominance of that supersystem over the lives of the working class is depicted as inherent and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lovett in her pie shop. As a result of poverty being so deeply rooted within the Victorian society, any opportunity for receiving an education was compromised for work towards a meager pay. This inevitability of work which will trap the lower class, both economically and socially, as opposed to education, which would offer a way out of the cycle, reinforced the Karl Marx's theory of the supersystem. When America refused to take in anymore convicts, the English were forced to take the prisoners somewhere else. Due to prisons overcrowding, they were still thinking where to put all these convict. Their solution, was to put them in old, rotting prison ship known as hulks. Hulks were normally old naval ships that could not go out into sea and fight but they were still able to safely float on the water in the harbour. Once all the hulks were full with convicts, they began shipping them out to Australia because they thought that no one owns the land and was big enough to hold convicts for many years. One other reason that they moved these criminals here was because their old system was very cruel and it really disturbed the public. Their system was to chop the head off of the criminal. Due to the finding of Australia, it gave the English a new opportunity, for both the expansion of the empire and a place to keep the convicts. The bringing back of the ancient method of banishment, reduced the population stress in the Western parts of Europe by the less horrific methods in the newly identified territories. This idea of banishing the criminals was the replacement for the death sentence. The death sentence was not fully removed, as it still existed for the people who committed major crimes. There was amnesty of the death sentence for the people that committed minor crimes. What work did the convicts do on arrival to Australia? • 53. Comparison Between Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber Of Fleet... The first movie ever made was The Horse in Motion which was created by Eadweard Muybridge in 1878. I hope to see people talk about the events that happen in the movie, and how they end up affecting the events of the story. In my speech I will analyze multiple movies, the elements in them, and how the actions of the characters in them affect the story. I choose to do it this way, so people can have some examples, and know things to look for. There are two movies I will mainly focus on they are Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Pulp Fiction. I will also talk about other movies, but they are not my main focus. I will do this do hopeful convince you that there is more to a movie then what you can see. I shall begin every analyzation of the movies will a short summary of them. Now with further ado I shall give a short short summary of Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of fleet street. There are three characters i'm going to focus on in Sweeney Todd, and they are Sweeney Todd, Lucy, and Johanna. Sweeney Todd AKA Benjamin Barker is a barber on Fleet street in London. Lucy is Todd's wife that's her main point for now. Johanna is their daughter. Early in the story Benjamin gets sent away by the judge who wants Lucy for himself. Lucy is then alone, and is sent to a masquerade by the judge's assistant. Where something bad happens to her. She then later poisons herself. Johanna was taken away by the judge and he adopted her. Fifteen years past and Benjamin Barker comes back as Sweeney Todd. He also bring alongs Anthony who helped him on his travels. He goes back to where is barber shop was, and meets Ms.Lovett. She tells him that Lucy poisoned herself. Todds like i'm gonna kill that judge, Which he ends up doing. Also Ms.Lovett makes the meat pies out of humans. Now that you know the parts of the story that you need to know i can begin the analysis. There is a crazed lady outside where Johanna is kept. Anthony talks to her and he asked who is that lady in the window, and she knew that that was Johanna. She is then seen outside of Ms. Lovett's meat pie shop, and says she see that sign of the devil outside of it. Ms.Lovett kicks her out multiple times because she is on to her. • 55. Perspective Essay on the Code of the Streets Perspective Essay on The Code of the Streets Culture in urban communities, also referred to as inner–cities, are growing increasingly violent. In the article, The Code of the Streets by Elijah Anderson, he begins to take an in–depth look at the root of the evil. He deduces that economic factors, parenting and the troublesome environments largely influence the violent norms within this culture. Anderson notes that two groups coexist simultaneously in the inner–cities which he labels as the "decent" and the "streets." Although both groups suffer economic difficulties, they differ in values mainly instilled through parenting and the home environment. The decent group seeks to adopt mainstream middle–class values, such as a love, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Robberies, violence and drug–dealing transgressions are a constant fear of many. The decent families although opposed to the norms of the ghetto, encourage their children to understand and respect the code of the streets in an effort to protect themselves. Also, many youths in the inner– cities try to behave as others within their sub–culture. A child might dress or speak a certain way that a race is labeled to be standard to fit in. For example, a Caucasian individual may dress in baggy clothes and speak in slang in public to imitate what people label the African American youth to be uniform. However, this individual in some instances could act completely different at home or in other environments such as family gatherings or church. Anderson begins to analyze the troubled culture by first looking at the home environment and behaviors during childhood. The values differ drastically between the two groups. He states that the decent families are typically working families and try to instill positive values in their children. They hope to provide a nurturing environment and aid their children in pursuing a successful future. They are involved in their performance in school and have home rules to abide by. They have curfews for their children and generally know where and whom they are with at all times, especially young children. They try to prepare their children for the unknown and possible confrontations with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Then I hear a bomb whistling down on my position.¨ John?! John?! Are you okay?¨ I come out of a daze to find out it was my boss William asking me if I was alright. ¨Yes Sir. I am fine.¨ I said. ¨Alright then get back to work.¨ William said. So I continued my work until the final work whistle rang. As I walked to my home in mist, I see people on the streets asking for change and begging for the scrapes from the bakery. As I got to the house where I live. When I came into my house my wife was cooking a stew on the stove. She asked, "How was work today honey." Well I wanted to tell her about my day dream but I decided not to so I just answered as, " Fine." We were at the dinner table eating our dinner, then she asked if I get laid off, What would be our source of income. That question made me puzzled and I didn't go to sleep that night until I found out what it would be. When I did fall asleep I had this horrible dream. Me and my wife were living life on the street, in poverty. I woke up to sweat dripping down my face. The clock read 3:57. I got up and walked down to the kitchen and drank some milk from the fridge. The thought crossed my mind again, What if I did live on the streets. If I get laid off this will be our future. I finally went back to bed then I awoke to my wife cooking breakfast. I walked down the stairs. It was toast with coffee. I could smell the coffee from the stair well. After I finished my morning meal I went to work. When that day changed very different. I walked to work just as I do everyday. When I got to work my boss called me to his office and said that i had a phone call. I t was the general of the US army. " We need reinforcements for the riots that have broken out in D.C." he said very sternly. So I went home and told my wife that I had to go to the riots that have broken out in Washington D.C. I went upstairs and packed my bags gave my wife a kiss and told her that I loved her. As I got into the cab I looked out the window and saw her crying and waving. Tony eyed the data crystal with mixed feelings. "That's everything I could find on Fancher and his crew," Bryn said without equivocation. "Pretty standard stuff; Fancher is career Fleet. Commanding officer of the Rankori for 6 years, service record reads like a Fleet novel." Bryn sipped the coffee the waitress placed in front of him, grimacing at it before adding copious amounts of sugar. "XO is Nate Little, came outta the Academy about the time Fancher took command; third in his class." He stirred the sugar in, then sipped it again; this time smiling in pleasure. "Anything interesting at all?" Tony asked palming the crystal. Bryn shrugged, toying with his spoon. "Not among the Bridge staff." He said softly. "But the Rankori's Flight Commander is something different." His eyes dropped to the table in front of him. "How so?" Tony asked eyeing Bryn carefully. "She's only been Fleet for three years, been Flight Commander for 2 of those three years." Bryn's voice lowered. "She's got one hell of a kill record, probably the best that Fleet has to offer." He nodded toward the data crystal in Tony's hand. "Found this in the Fleet archives; it's from about four months ago. You need to take a look at it, Boss." Sweeney Todd : The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, was an excellent choice for this assignment, as many key, prominent psychological signs and symptoms are prevalent in the majority of characters. Though excellent cases of psychological abnormalities can be found throughout the film, unfortunately, we could only choose one. As a result, we believe the most interesting character to diagnose would be the main character Benjamin Barker: also known as Sweeney Todd. Before we delve into diagnoses, a little background will be helpful to fully comprehend the caliber of the situation. The setting is Victorian–era London, a time at which insane asylums were the predominant form of managing every type of psychological disorder. At this time, poverty levels were high and the majority of citizens were of a low socioeconomic status. Sanitation was low and disease prevalence was extremely high, yielding an increased population with predisposition to certain psychological disorders. The character Sweeney Todd is introduced at the beginning of the movie sailing into a port located in London, England. In the opening scenes, an accompanying character is bright and cheery, which is met by Mr. Todd with anger and frustration. It is worth mentioning at this point that the entirety of the film is observed through a gray lens; skies are dark and colors are muted, portraying a depressed atmosphere. We learn later in the film that this depressive state is as result of past events, specifically that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" Directed by Tim Burton is a chilling Musical about a Baber, Sweeney himself, exacting revenge on a judge who had torn him from his happy life. Praised for its execution and well casted roles Tim Burton's adaption of "Sweeney Todd" has become a favorite for many viewers seeking the darker side of theater. If this belief is true, why do problems still face us today? The answer could be a result of either laziness by the people in our society in finding these solutions or just the fact that there are too many problems to solve. Maybe this belief I have is too far out of reach to be true. On the other hand, Brent Staples, a well–respected writer, seems to share this idea with me. In his works, he displays a great deal of motivation to solve particular problems faced by society. In "A Brother's Murder," he uses a personal account of murder within the streets caused by ... As Staples explains in paragraph four of "A Brother's Murder," he chose a different lifestyle. He disagreed with the childish attitude of the death–ridden people on his street. He chose a path of going to college and leading a successful career. He was lucky enough and smart enough to leave those streets. "Upwardly mobile" was how Brent put it. In Blake's lifestyle moving up means killing more people to gain social standing within his gang. Brent took a trip to his brother's home to intervene with his situation. What he saw was someone taken over by life on the streets. He was obsessed by this lifestyle of teetering between life and death, because that was all for which he had to live. This was clear on the surface, but his own brother could look deeper. He could see his true human character. Brent saw his brother as a human being who he cared deeply for and wanted to help.
