The goal for this experiment was to see how much of both Sodium Bicarbonate
and Acetic Acid it was going to take to fill you a sandwich bag without it

correct amount of each substance so when it fully reacts the gas formed can blow

4. Boyz N The Hood Themes
Hood: slang for neighborhood or black area/life. Before 1991 this concept of hood
life was never before portrayed or looked into until John Singleton produced the
black social drama Boyz N the Hood. This is the first film by a black director that
actually goes deep inside the ghetto or inner city. Singleton carefully directs this
film so that it appears to mirror the real world amp;#8220;having value as a kind of
anthropological study of an unfamiliar way of life ; (Thompson 2).
Set in lower middle class, predominately black, south central Los Angeles, a
neighborhood where constant gunshots regularly interrupt study time and the sound
of police helicopters flying above is a familiar tune, Boyz N the Hood is basically the

6. Heidegger The Question Concerning Technology Analysis
Upon reading The Question Concerning Technology, it is evident that the essence of
technology is not referring to a piece of technology (e.g. computers, smartphones,
televisions). In fact, Heidegger reveals that it is precisely in thinking of the essence
of technology as merely the idea of a gadget or contraption that prevents one from
fully comprehending the essence of technology. Through phenomenology, Heidegger
reveals that the true essence of technology is Enframing or a type of destining, that
challenges forth man to reveal beings as standing reserves that must be placed into
order ready for use or calculation. This concept is key to understanding the essence of
technology and its implications for man s relation to the essence of technology....

This means that throughout history, man has constantly made decisions which have
contributed to our understanding of Being. Changes of our understanding of Being
have occurred and will occur where things are now and through experience we learn
what the ontic can be or becoming. This revealing is not static, but fluid. One may
imagine taking a smartphone into the past, where man may not understand it as
something, yet in the modern world we understand it as something. It was
concealed, and now it is revealed. However, the smartphone was not a product of an
epiphany, but a work of history which only prompted contemporary man to reveal
this thing as a smartphone. The compounding knowledge of the past, or man s
evolving understanding for the possibility of Being is precisely what led to
technology. It starts [contemporary] man upon a way of revealing things as
something; it is a transcending occurrence. Past ways that man has revealed the truth
of beings puts a claim on the contemporary man to either grant that the same way of
revealing continues or that a new way is allowed to come to pass; this is destining.
As Heidegger says ...ever suddenly and inexplicably to all thinking [destining]
apportions itself into the revealing that brings forth... . This means that
preconceptually destining (past
7. The Influence Of Hair In Contemporary Culture
1.2.Issues to be Addressed
All this leads to the articulation of my primary research question: How does
contemporary culture reinforce the notion of hair as powerful in the construction of
identity, and especially of feminine identity? The primary question enables the
elaboration of related secondary questions: 1) What is the cultural history of hair as
a source of identity, especially femininity? 2) How do women negotiate the cultural
meaning of hair as a result of undergoing hair loss due to chemotherapy? 3) How do
contemporary culture and media represent cancer, hair loss, and femininity?
To discuss the primary question, it is primordial to look at dominant representations
/meanings of hair throughout cultural history, in order to understand ... Show more

Haraway seeks to create an ironic political myth, which would combine both post
modernism and socialist feminism. The central point of her myth would be a cyborg,
which is a metaphor for new technologies as well as the post modernist play of
identity. The cyborgs blur boundaries between the status of men and women, human
and machine, and individual and community. Haraway believes that many dualisms
have been persistent in our western traditions. These dualisms are linked to a system
of logic that isolates the other. The idea of a theorized body contributes to a better
understanding of the post modern debate on the female body being colonized by the
media. Furthermore, when Haraway discusses the fact that we are theorized, her
theory echoes Judith Butler s performance, since we perform our gender as much as
we theorize it in a male dominant capitalist
8. Racial Inequalities And Racial Inequality
Since America s beginning, race based barriers have mired the fulfillment of our
shared principles and many of these barriers still persist today. The institutionalized
inequalities are detrimental on an individual basis as well a societal basis. Racism
does not only affect the individuals that are being oppressed but also how society
functions as a whole. Racial inequalities have manifested in American society in ways
that underlies a wide range of societal domains such as housing patterns, educational
opportunities, healthcare inequality, and incarceration rates. Current events and
experiences demonstrate moreover that racial inequality is still adamant in the
American culture. Long after slavery, the Jim Crow Era, and the civil rights
movement, racial inequality has taken distinctive forms which affect many people
within a racially oppressed group. Racial segregation at large is embedded within a
structural matrix that not only permeates in the American culture but in our private
and public institutions. Disparities in the criminal justice system and housing
patterns remain a key barrier to racial equality in America. In order to eradicate racial
inequality, there needs to be policy solutions that place fundamental changes to a
system with profound historical origins, one that structurally disadvantages minority
groups. The criminal justice system s high volume of contact with people of color is
a major cause of broader perceptions of injustice in many communities.
9. Effects Of A Solar Eclipse
What is a solar eclipse? What effect might a solar eclipse have on one? A solar
eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the sun and the earth. This makes the
sun align behind the moon as it blocks the sun s beautiful and gleaming rays. When
the sun is behind the moon, it seems as if it is as dark as night and makes the sunlook
like a ring of fire high in the sky. During a solar eclipse, many things can happen that
one would be astonished by observing such as, the actual object, changes in the
atmosphere, animals and people s behavior, and emotional and sensual feelings. The
object that appeared in the sky had everyone s attention and concentration, not only
that day, but weeks before. Everyone had been talking about the upcoming solar
eclipse. Teachers planned lessons, and posters lined the walls to inform students of
expectations and safety measures. A solar eclipse, an event appealing to the eye, is an
unforgettable phenomenon that can leave someone with the experience of a lifetime.
On the day of the eclipse, the view of the sun was oddly bright and dim. The sky
was as bright as a sun rise early in a summer s morning. It was so bright I was
tempted, yet scared to look at it. The whole Middleton High School separated to go
outside and watch the eclipse in different areas. The location where we watched the
eclipse only allowed us to see the moon partially blocking the sun. We all saw the
sun slowly lose its rays as the moon raced to appear in front. Although the total
10. Stereotypes In Legally Blonde
When a friend asks you if you want to watch a movie, usually this suggestion doesn
t end in you wishing you could be born with a different color of hair. And by now, I
thought I was pretty immune to the cringe worthy blonde jokes and stereotypes.
Since I had basically grown up with these constant comparisons of the ditsy blonde
or the famous doll barbie. Therefore when my good friend Megan suggested
watching Legally Blonde as the movie for the night, I was confident that I had
every lame joke, comparison, and stereotype covered thus I was unfazed by any of
the future attacks. Let me tell you, I was wrong. As soon that she pressed the play
button, I was consumed by Barbie pink and sorority girl high pitched giggles. Never

Shar Pei in High School Musical or Regina George from Mean Girls are a few
examples of the 2 D image of the same stereotype but with the classic spin of the
Blonde bitch . This doesn t really change the character, only makes the blonde
barbie more dislikable. The character still is swimming in the color pink, with less
than average intelligence and of course has to be filthy rich. Elle Woods, the main
character of legally blonde was the epitome of Hollywood s take on the blonde
trait. What makes this movie out of all the others at the top of the most insulting is
its presentation. It is presented as if the makers of Legally Blonde are defending
the gene and thus even a blonde can become a lawyer or even go to Harvard . Of
course the main reason Elle does apply to go to Harvard is only to get back with
her boyfriend which makes this less of an honorable action. The movie plays light
heartedly on the theme that blondes aren t taken seriously only to add on to the
issue. In an article written about blonde jokes in the media, they explore the long life
of the blond stereotype. The prototypes appearing in many comic texts the dumb
blonde, the irritating wife and the awful mother in law are always defined by an
exaggeration of a traditional feminine stereotype. Thus, the dumb blonde is an
extreme version of the dumb woman and sex object stereotypes (Shifman, 20).In

11. Immigrant Youth Mentoring
Refugee and immigrant youth mentoring There are a number of influencing factors
that challenge refugee and immigrant youths acculturation process, including lack of
family support, informal counseling by peers or other adults and a lack of social
initiatives to address culturally unique needs of youth, especially acculturation gap
between youth and parents ( Morland, Ellis, Birnam, 2012). More recent studies on
youth development concluded that facilitating youth mentoring relationship is more
likely to benefit the youth, yet, quality matters and strong youth mentor relationship

12. Tuberculosis Essay
Tuberculosis
Forms of tuberculosis have been present in the human population since ancient times.
Fragments of spinal columns from Egyptian mummies dating back to 2400 BC
show definite pathological signs of tubercular decay. Around 460 BC Hippocrates
wrote on the subject of a disease which we now know as tuberculosis. In his article he
warned his colleagues against visiting cases in the late stages of the disease, because
the patient s inevitable death might damage the reputations of the attending
physicians. The world s population remained totally defenseless to the lethal effects
of tuberculosis for thousands of years. Then, around the 17th century scientists began
to hypothesize about the nature of the disease and began to ... Show more content on

Marten s insight proved to be another enormous step towards the understanding and
prevention of tuberculosis. In the 19th century Hermann Brehmer, a Silesian botany
student whom was suffering from tuberculosis, was instructed by his physician to
move to a healthier climate. Brehmer traveled to the Himalayan mountains mainly to
pursue his botanical studies. What he didn t know at the time was that this journey
would be attributed to curing his disease. When Brehmer returned home he began to
study medicine. In 1854, he wrote his dissertation titled, Tuberculosis is a Curable
Disease. He hypothesized that his recovery was directly related to the healthier
environment found in the Himalayan mountains. Brehmer built an institution in
Gorbersdorf where his patients received a nutritious diet and spent great amounts of
time on their balconies where they were exposed to continuous fresh air. This clinic
was the first step towards the development of a sanatorium. Sanatoria, could now be
found throughout Europe and the United States. A sanatorium provided two
functions. They isolated the ill from the rest of the public while enforcing rest and a
healthy diet. Tuberculosis is caused by an organism called Mycobacterium

S588G impose a duty on directors stop a company trading while it is insolvent or
would become insolvent. The provision requires directors take any reasonable steps
to prevent incurring debts and maintain the maximum abilities to pay the present
creditors or protect future creditors. The ultimately objective is to protect the
creditors. According to S588G, as long as the directors suspect that the company is
insolvent or would become insolvent and fail to prevent a company from insolvent
trading, he or she would potentially personal liable for all the debts incurred since
insolvency.
Under S95A, A company is insolvent if it is unable to pay all its debts when they
become due for payment (Hanrahan, 2015). It is difficult for directors to figure out
whether the company is temporary lack of liquidity or insolvent. Furthermore, the
uncertain local and global economic conditions would make them feel hesitant about
whether the decision they make will save the company not. This provision put
significantly personal liabilities on directors shoulder. Directors special without
company share directors would rather to simply give up saving the company by
winding up or appointing an administrator than put their personal wealth on risk even
though there is a chance to rescue it.
One of the objective of appointing an voluntary administration is to put a company
into a temporary safety zone from its creditors and

back our way where the Geiger Counter took a series of measurements of them.
Those measurements were then analyzed by my program and then given to us.
Inez hit another command on his keyboard bringing up a new screen. Before all

using only UserArtistInfo collection. Furthermore, simple queries such as query 2

traveler and trader. The introductions of China and Asia, for many, was all thanks

describes the basis of the descriptions of places that were not really discovered.
Polo s childhood was rough and unordinary. Polo was born around 1254 in Venice.

21. Humorous Wedding Speech
Humorous Wedding Speech Some Advice for the Bridegroom (Groom)
Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen If you didn t know already, my name is
Alberto and I m in the wedding party. That is the reason I?m dressed like this.
What have I done to be blessed with such an honour? Who?s dropped out at the last
minute? Had William?s other friends left the country? Could I turn the job down and
still get an invite to eat and drink at William?s expense? I didn?t want to risk it, so
lets get on with it.
Sherry, you make a fine bride and looked absolutely stunning in the church this
morning. William, you looked ? well ? a bit like me, but perhaps a touch thinner. But
I think you d all agree that it was a wonderful service. Mind you, those ... Show more

And unlike when we lived together, you?re going to have to transfer food onto
dishes instead of eating your dinner straight out of the saucepan ? and wash up after
meals instead of putting all the things in together at the end of the week? when you
take your bath. This is good advice William and it s in your best interest. Apparently,
there has never been one recorded case in history where a wife has shot her husband
while he was doing the washing up.
If truth be told, William, in order to achieve a state of affairs as blissful as possible
I?d advise you to mend all your bachelor ways. Accustomed as you are to having
only yourself to answer to in your flat, your will now have to adjust to a new
regime which will not tolerate laziness! There?s no denying it, William, you?re
bone idle, which is why Sherry had no idea you were planning to propose. When you
said you had something to ask her, she thought it would be whether she should put a
call into Dominos. If Sherry wants you to do something, my advice is, don?t argue
with her. You might win, and then you?d really be in trouble.
But however bad the situation gets, there are some magic words William can say to
Sherry that are guaranteed to make everything all right again and this final piece of
advice was given to me by the bride?s father here they are William, repeat after me:
?The bathroom is yours and yours alone!?
Sherry, I don t feel I can stand up here
22. Personal Narrative-Helmet
Now that I m older, I have started to loathe driving. Don t ask me why, but after
thirty years or so of being behind a wheel while commuting to work, I don t think
that I can handle doing it anymore. Thus, I traded in my car and got a scooter to
bomb around town in. I no longer have to commute to work (I now work from
home) so having something small and fast is perfect for my chosen lifestyle.
One thing that also changed, however, was the fact that I now had to wear headgear
whenever I went out, lest I become a permanent addition to the pavement. I didn t
want anything too heavy or too restrictive, both because I m a tad claustrophobic and
because I don t go that fast (or on the freeway). That s when I discovered motorcycle
half helmets, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you re looking for something more manly or at least less feminine, then you ve
come to the wrong place. If, however, you want a sturdy, reliable half helmet that
also features a gorgeous butterfly design on it, then you ll love the T 70.
When talking about safety, this helmet is actually really good. While not as sturdy
as the IV2 model, it is made of a lightweight polycarbonate shell that absorbs impact
remarkably well. The helmet itself is highly rated by the DOT as well, so you know
that it s top quality. Also, you can attach different face shields (sold separately) if you
want an extra layer of protection between you and the wind (not to mention bugs).
As far as comfort is concerned, the T 70 is loaded with all the usual refinements,
including thick padding on the interior, an open ear strap design, and a padded chin
strap for extra smooth sailing. Overall, a great casual helmet for anyone looking to
add a little flutter to his or her day.

23. Harlem Renaissance Impact
The Harlem Renaissance was a movement of cultural appreciation of African
Americans looking for better life in the neighborhood of Harlem. Producing works in
music, literature, and art, stressing the importance of equality and appreciation
amongst their different cultures between Whites and Blacks. After The Migration,
very important figures of the time of the Harlem Renaissanceemerged such as
Langston Hughes, Zora Neale Hurston, Jean Toomer, Arna Bontemps, and Claude
McKay who contributed literary works which had large influences. The Harlem
Renaissance changed the lives of African Americans and viewpoints of their own
culture along with other cultures viewpoint of their own.
The Harlem Renaissance was a movement of new works in art and literature from
African Americans in New York from about 1910 to about 1940. Harlem was
originally a neighborhood consisting of white upper class people until the Great
Migration, when large numbers of African Americans flocked to Harlem, causing
some Whites to leave. The government in the South had made laws which stated
that Blacks could now own their own lands but instead, former laws were
reestablished, resulting in these blacks that had now owned land, in debt to former
owners, causing the creation of Sharecroppers. They were given a choice between
labor contracts which would fundamentally mean they were slaves once more or to
be evicted from their homes. Eventually, this caused the Great Migration. These
African Americans started migrating to the urban areas of the North to look for
better lives and to seek work from businesses looking for cheap labor. (
Sharecropping , 2010.)
In the 1920s, a vast majority of African Americans flocked to the North. Even though
the North still had segregation and inequalities, the South had far less economic
opportunities and mostly was involved in the business of Share Cropping which
largely caused the fleeing of African Americans, originally. The South still
participated in race riots, and the area was just far too dangerous for many blacks to
live. Businesses began looking for cheap laborers in which these African Americans
were going to provide when migrating from the rural South to the urban cities of the
North. The neighborhood
24. Cattle Farming Safe For All Humanity
As we know there are differences between locally grown, organic, and grass fed
beef, however, farmer working conditions are not so different. Grass fed farms
feed their cattle the closest they can to a natural diet of year round pasture grazing
and substitutes such as; alfalfa and hay in the offseason. On organic farms,
workers strive to follow the USDA guidelines and prepare for yearly inspections.
Local, also known as, independent farmers may choose to raise their cattle
organically, by natural grass feeding or mixed. These farms raise large herds but not
nearly as large as conventional factory farms. On Organic farms, long hours and hard
work are spent ensuring the land is certified organic, the cattle are served only
organic feed, and that the cattle graze every day, all year. On organic farms, there is
no use of hormones, antibiotics or other hazardous contributions. Deeming these
methods of cattle farming safe for all humanity. Independent farmers withstand long
hours and strenuous tasks to ensure cattle are raised humanely and the environment
is, for the most part, unharmed. It is very common for these farms to be family
owned and employed. Proper handling and safety methods become almost second
nature for family members. During the hiring process, background knowledge of
raising cattle and use of farm equipment are key. There is much work involved
maintaining a wide variety of heavy equipment including tractors, windmills, and
fences. Many of these farms grow their
25. Drinking Driving And Driving
How much alcohol is too much alcohol to be operating a car? The current legal
limit of blood alcohol content (BAC) is .08%, but many safe driving advocates are
pushing to lower it. By lowering the legal limit to .05%, it is estimated that up to
1,000 lives a year could be saved, but many people in the national debate are
claiming that lowering the limit would lead to excessive punishment of
intoxicated drivers. The current legal punishments for Driving Under the
Influence (DUI) crimes are justified and appropriate. One reason the current
criminalization of DUI charges is acceptable is because such driving is no worse
than other distractions. Driving while intoxicated can cause serious impairment,
but some argue that it is no worse than other distractions one may potentially face
on the road. Other distractions such as cell phone use, loud music, and drowsiness
all similarly increase one s chances of causing a wreck. The National Sleep
Foundation states that drowsiness is very similar to alcohol impairment and can
impair driving performance as much or more so than alcohol. according to a report
on the topic. Being sleepy can slow reaction times, limit visions, and create lapses in
judgement and delays in processing information, the foundation says (Gregory, par.
12). The University of Utah also agrees with this statement, as they conducted a
study that concluded that cell phone users drove equally as impaired as a driver at
the legal .08 limit (Gregory, par. 13).
26. The Importance Of Attending An AA Meeting
n Wednesday afternoon I drove to the Alano Club, a building in Florence, KY that
holds approximately 17 Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) meetings each week. This
meeting was open to the public meaning it was open to anyone addicts/alcoholics,
their loved ones, anyone in the community, etc. Every time that I attend a meetingI get
this irrational fear that I would recognize someone and they would think that I am
an alcoholic and tell everyone I knew but realistically this would not be the case
since this group relies on anonymous participation and privacy outside. After
previously attending an AA meeting my expectations for the amount of and diversity
of the people was much more open but I still was surprised when I walked in and
saw children that
27. Online Learning As A Form Of Education Essay
INTRODUCTION
The last few decades has seen a rapid development in internet and electronic devises
industry. At the same time, online learning, as a form of distance education, imposes
itself strongly and becomes a core concern of human thought and modern life.
(Saleem, 2016, p.53). As an untraditional method of education, online learning is very
different from traditional ones. Those different make the outcome of online learning
hard to be evaluated and examined. However, due to its low cost and high
flexibility, online learning can help people achieve life learning and may have a
profound influence in the development of intellectual capital. There is a need to
determine the effect of online learning as a form of education to see how it works,
and how students learn.
For Chinese students, not until the internet became accessible for most families, they
became aware of this platform. Now, there is an increasing number of Chinese
students use it to access to higher education. This research aims to explore the effects
of online learning from the perspective of learners and help Chinese online learners
distinguish the advantages (e.g. stronger intention to learn) and disadvantages (e.g.
culture difference, lack of interaction, language difficulty, courses of low quality, and
lack of supervisor) of this platform, and thereby improve their learning experience.

28. Essay on Hearing vs. Listening
Those not thoroughly educated in communication tend to confuse the terms hearing
and listening. Although they appear to mean the same thing, utilize the same body
part, and are both required for functional communication, there is a great difference
between these two actions. Hearing involves the perceptionof soundusing the ears,
while listening is based upon giving attention to the sound being perceived.
Additionally, because these concepts are different, there are also several different
ways of improving hearingand listening. Thus, there are several differences between
these two concepts, and it is important to signify these differences in order to practice
effective communication. Hearing is known to be an automatic function of... Show

Listening is more complex, and it encourages one to analyze and think about an
idea, rather than to simply accept it (or hear it). Hearing is a skill that is beneficial
for every aspect of life. As long as we have our ability to hear, we will always
perceive different sounds, music, and voices. Listening, however, is beneficial to
us in specific instances. It is important for us to attain good listening skills in
education, the work force, and in our relationships with others in order to succeed.
Good listening in education will bring about confident participation in class
discussions; good listening in the workplace will lead to cooperation and good
teamwork among colleagues; good listening in relationships is healthy and
positive, for it is important to hear what an individual has to say in order to know
how they feel. Finally, aside from the complexity and various uses of these two
different concepts, there are also different methods to improve each of them.
Improving one s hearing usually involves a more physical approach. For example,
if a student in a classroom is having trouble hearing their teacher, the first step they
should take is to move closer to the speaker. Decreasing the distance between the
speaker and the listener, as well as adjusting the volume at which one is speaking are
physical ways to ensure one is hearing something correctly. It is not uncommon for
the elderly to lose part of their hearing

However, the concurring opinion gave by Justice Hugo Black stated that the fourth
amendment ban against unreasonable searches and seizures along with the fifth
amendment s ban against forced self incrimination defends the exclusionary rule.
Another concurring opinion was made by Justice William Douglas believed that the
officers had violated Mapp s right to privacy .
Dissenting Opinion:
Justice Harlan, Justices Frankfurter and Whittaker dissented. Justice Harlan wrote the
dissenting opinion. In his dissent, Justice Harlan argued that the majority confronted
the wrong issue in its decision. Because Mapp was convicted under an Ohio statute
criminalizing the possession of obscene material, Justice Harlan believed that the new
and pivotal issue was whether this statute is consistent with the rights of free thought
and expression assured against state action by the Fourteenth Amendment.(Mapp vs
Ohio) He concluded that the majority had ignored the principles of judicial restraint
and stare decisis, and had reached out to consider the exclusionary rule issue.
According to Justice Harlan, this was a First Amendment case and not an appropriate
case for extending the Fourth Amendment s exclusionary rule to the states. He also
concluded that it was wrong to impose the exclusionary rule, designed for the federal
criminal process, on the states which, in his view, bore quite
30. Oklahoma Abortion Debate
Why the Oklahoma Abortion Bill is Unethical
Women, for centuries, have not been allowed to make decisions regarding their
bodies. Finally, when the end of the fight is within reach, steps backward are taken.
Oklahoma recently passed a bill requiring the father to approve an abortion
procedure, the only time that the father s permission is not required is in rape cases,
and fetuses that have been diagnosed with down syndrome cannot be aborted. When
asked about the bill, Oklahoma Rep. Justin Humphrey stated:
I believe one of the breakdowns in our society is that we have excluded the man out

76% of the turnaways ended up on unemployment benefits, as opposed to the 44% of
women who had abortions. ( Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health ,
2014) The same study found that women unable to obtain abortions were more likely
to stay in a relationship with an abusive partner than women who had an abortion, and
were more than twice as likely to become victims of domestic violence (Annalee
Newitz). Turning away women that cannot get their husbands or boyfriends to give
their approval for a safe abortion is unfair in every aspect.
A woman could do everything in her power to not get pregnant and still end up with
a child, but there are not many preventative matters on the guy s end. The Oklahoma
Abortion Bill was put into place because they wanted to bring men back into the
decision making
Two committees were paying close attention to the study, and they realized that a lot
of guys were dropping out because they were experiencing side effects. The most
common side effect was acne, and sometimes that acne was pretty severe. Some men
also developed mood swings and in some cases those mood swings got pretty bad.
One man developed severe depression, and another tried to commit suicide. Because
of that, they cut the study short (NPR

32. Essay about Cesar Chavez
Cesar Chavez Since before the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, race relations
between the United States and Mexico have been less than great. The United
States has a history of prejudice and racism. On a national level this sentiment has
formed some legislation, and on a lower level it has formed the way many people
conduct their lives. Mexican have been exploited for their work for decades. One
man fought long and hard for his people and their civil liberties. That man was
Cesar Chavez. Cesar Chavez was born in Yuma, Arizona to a middle class family.

He found that the locals were upset because the braceros were taking their jobs.
The bracero program began in Congress in 1942. It s purpose was to import
seasonal contract laborers in times of labor shortages in the states. Apparently, the
farmers would falsely claim labor shortages in order to import braceros. The wages
that farmers paid the braceros was a lot lower than that they would have to pay the
local workers. The farmers were also able to make their money back from the
braceros by charging them excess for room and board. Cesar combated against the
farmers by organizing boycotts, sit downs and protests. All of Cesar s
accomplishments got him the state executive directorship for the CSO. He served
this position for two years. In 1962, Chavez proposed that the CSO support a union

goal, Chavez set out to form a viable union among the thousands of disenfranchised
farm workers. Chavez encountered many obstacles after the formation of his union
and at the beginning of their strike. Aside from the fact that many of the workers

33. What Are The Cinematic Techniques In Back To The Future

Cinema 010
How do the films devices function to construct the systems of the cinematic time,
cinematic space and narrative logic? What ideological conclusions can draw from
popular films such as this? Over the many years of filmmaking, there is no doubt that
classical Hollywood has made an interesting name for itself. The classical Hollywood
style has become quite predictable in relation to film narrative because of their unique
filmmaking choices using devices like continuity editing, three point lighting,
centered framing, and musical scores. When we think of a classic Hollywood film,
we usually imagine a story with a happy ending. A phenomenal film that performs all
these functions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since this is a classical narrative, the main character eventually will. Zemeckis uses
incredibly smooth continuity throughout the rest of the film in order to express to
the spectators the narrative logic and ideological conclusions. Understanding how
expressive cinematic techniques give distinct representation to social issues and
conflicts and engage the viewer effectively allows a discussion of the social context
to remain sensitive to film as a unique medium with its own expressive techniques
(Nicholas, 160). In the key scene where Marty goes to the Twin Pines Mall to meet
Dr. Brown, Zemeckis uses plenty of techniques to effectively edit the scene. He uses
three point lighting, point of view shots, close up shots and over the shoulder shots.
When the time traveling car invention begins to depart the truck, a point of view
shot is integrated so that we can view the car from Marty s perspective. This shot
is extremely important for the film because we as spectators are put into the
cinematic space and it makes us feel as if we ourselves are physically in the scene
and are experiencing the same thing. Not only does this shot allow us to feel like
we are in the shot but it also helps us to identify with Marty and his feelings.
Lighting helps to interpret how the car should be seen because of the key lighting
on Marty, the lighting on Marty helps us to see his face expression and we can tell
that it s filled with amazement and astonishment. Just like Marty, we can see the car
as this magnificent, out of this world invention. From here on we know that this is a
shot that helps the narrative develope and automatically know that since Marty thinks
this machine is amazing, he will then end up using it to his advantage. As we ve
gotten to experience the climax of Back to the Future, we prove that our ideological

The next section is a Literature review of the history of opioids, Addiction of
opioids, and the description of emergency care.
Historical Overview of Opioids The term Opioid is derived from the opium poppy.
It is an annual herb that contains about eight capsules with different color flowers.
The seeds are cut out from the stem and used for different purposes. Descriptions
from the Egyptians shows the opium seeds to be used to prevent excessive crying
while the Greeks used it for a sleep inducing substance. (Khademi, 2015, p.870)
Opium is the starting material for an array of medications. It is synthesized and then
is an opioid used for mainly the treatment of pain in anesthesia, cancer, acute pain,
osteoarthritis, limb pain, sickle cell anemia, and more. (Khademi, 2015, p870)
Opioids came from an opium plant from seeds and poppies before there was even a
written history. There is record of the Sumerians cultivating it around 3400 B.C.
(Alam, 2015,63) They called it, hul gil meaning plant of joy. It is the oldest known
drug. (Heroin Helper) With the cultivation of opium beginning in Europe, it is
interesting that Spain, Greece, and Egypt are the ones thought to have the oldest
poppy fields. (Wright, 2012, 512) Hippocrates and Galen are the early physicians that
used its properties to treat internal bleeding and woman s diseases. Galen had a list of
treatments including headache, deafness, asthma, coughs, fever, tightness of breath,

Good will Hunting is a movie that teaches us many good things about the world.
The main character of the movie is Will, who goes through many struggles and has

father, who always abused him as a child, which caused him to live an unhappy life.
His childhood had an effect on future, he turned out to abusive to people around
him, and he showed angered towards the world, in order to take out his own anger.

move to California with him so that she can start her medical school there and also
will get rid of his past and thoughts about his past. Skylar wanted to help Will, so
that he can be a better person in the world that he is living in and be less abusive to
the people that are around him. What will become as an adult, is a blame to his
childhood and that is what Skylar wants to help him with, she wants Will to forget

Compare and Contrast the Unification of Germany, Italy, and the United States
From the 1790s to 1814 French troops successively conquered and occupied the area
that later constituted the German Empire. French domination helped to modernize
and consolidate Germany and toward the end sparked the first upsurge of German
nationalism. In different ways the French emperor Napoleon I helped German
unification. It was important that he encouraged many of the middle sized German
states to absorb huge numbers of small independent territories, mostly bishoprics,
church lands, and local principalities.
This consolidation process, called mediation, led to the dissolution of the Holy

After 1850 the industrial revolution in Germany entered its decisive phase. New
factories were built at a breath taking rate, the production of textiles and iron
soared, railroads grew and started to connect many distant regions, and coal
production and export reached record levels every year. These advances profited
from a high level of education, the result of an advanced school and university
system. For a long time Prussia had the highest literacy rate and exemplary schools.
Economic progress was most powerful in Prussia and less impressive in Austria.
Through the Vienna peace settlement Prussia had received areas that turned out to be
enormously precious for industrialization (the Ruhr district, the Rhineland, and parts
of Saxony all with rich coal deposits). Prussia now started to dominate many of the
smaller German states economically, and the smaller states often hesitantly adapted
their economies to Prussia. Decisive for this inconspicuous economic unification of
Germany was the foundation of a customs union (Zollverein) already in 1834, which

40. West Side Story Essay
West Side Story
1. Point out how the general setting of the play is established.
Give at least two examples.
The play West Side Story takes place in a suburb on the West Side of
New York City. We can conclude that we are talking about a socially disadvantaged
suburb as the surrounding area is described with high brick walls, not very attractive
and by the presence of the two gangs
the Jets and the Sharks.
We are also able to say in which time period the actions take place.
As an indicator we are using the dance at the gym in Act I,Scene 4, where Tony and
Maria first meet. At this dance everyone is dancing the jitterbug just as the jive. Both
were popular during the 1940`s and
1950`s.
We should also mention that it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second group we meet is the Sharks. They are all immigrants from
Puerto Rico who all came to find a better life. They feel especially disadvantaged and
believe this is due to their place of birth.
Bernardo, who is the leader of the Sharks and Maria`s older brother seems to be in
control of everything. It also appears as if he is more dominant than his parents
possibly because they are, just like he is, immigrants but less adapted to the new
situation.
Both groups are struggling for survival in the streets and their social lives. Certain
similarities can be found even though they would never admit to these.
Many of the above mentioned aspects are typical prejudices and therefore named as
typical features of the society (in this case the society consists of the Jets and the
Sharks).

3. Examine the primary desires/hopes/agonies terrors of one of the main characters
and compare them with those of Gatsby.
One of the protagonists of West Side Story is Tony. We learn that Tony is one of the
founders of the Jets. No matter what he might have had in the gang in the past he
left his buddies some time ago. What is important is that even though he no longer
appears to be an active member of the Jets he still is accepted and what is even more
respected by the other members. His presence is important for them at the dance, as
well is his decision concerning the rumble.
42. The Disappearance And Murder Of Tim Bosma
The disappearance and murder of Tim Bosma was one that captivated much of the
news and the public during May of 2013. An ordinary man from Ontario went
missing while with two men who were test driving his vehicle, only for his burnt
remains found a week later. The two men Dellen Millard, and Mark Smich who were
with Bosma during the test drive were eventually charged with first degree murder,
and later on both were convicted of that charge and sentenced to life in prison
(Armstrong Russell, 2014). This was a case that had many different policeofficers
evolved in. With the Hamilton Police Service (HPS) leading the investigation they
were also assisted by both the Toronto Police Service (TPS) as well as the Ontario
Provincial Police (OPP)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another group that would be involved would be the general duty officers who would
assist is searching, and preserving the scenes where HPS where searching for clues
relating to the Bosma disappearance, and murder (Visser Humphreys, 2013). One of
the most important units involved in this investigation was the Forensic
Identification Services (FIS) members who are responsible for preserving, and
collecting all of the evidence. These officers worked along side the members
previously mentioned throughout the investigation collecting much evidence from
both Bosmas truck as well as other locations that were searched. 1
What Issues are Present There were many different issues that were present during
the investigation to the Tim Bosma murder. For one the length of the investigation,
and the amount of forensic evidence that was collected, and analyzed. The HPS
explained to the court the evidence collected from Bosma truck. They took sixty
four blood swabs in and around the truck; furthermore, they also took 23 fingerprints
from the truck on 20 different items with two of them matching to Millard
(Clairmont, 2016). A cut was made in a green tarp to remove the section with blood
stains on it, as well soil and vegetation samples were taken from the tires (Clairmont,
2016). They also collected shards of glass from a broken passenger window. This is
just an example of the amount of evidence that was collected from just the truck in
the Bosma murder investigation. Another

. Assessment of Initial Situation
The Dufferin Aggregates Acton Quarry is one of Holcim s substantially large
quarries. Operational since 1951 [1], the quarry plans to be completely rehabilitated
within the next few decades. Currently, phases 1 through 3 are being implemented.
The following outlines a year to year plan on the possible execution of phases 4
through 6.
In order to successfully engineer this 20 year plan, the triple bottom line must be a
concrete threshold for the project: People, Profit, and Planet. By being aware of the
environmental implications of this plan, as well as the social impacts and the cost of
the project, the project definition strives to match what Holcim stands for as a

They include things like secure supply (the availability of key consumables like
electricity, water, gas and other fuels), capital expenditure (the inflationary costs of
oil, coal, transportation, energy, mining equipment and contracting) and naturally,
health and safety risks, always present and a top priority [17].
Operational phase risks
These risks are present while the mining operation is in full swing. Difficulties may
arise in the event of a natural catastrophe, BI (business interruption, which can be
caused by a variety of factors) and project transition phase risk (involving the attempt
to have a seamless transition between the construction and the operational phase) [17].
Liability risks
A prime concern for the DFA Acton Quarry is the safety and well being of the
workforce and those who come into contact with the mine and the processing
facilities. Aggregates Consulting Ltd. supports a zero tolerance approach to
workplace injuries and fatalities, but extends the approach to environmental and
social awareness [17].

44. Comparative Essay on Patty and Anne
The Lives of Patty and Anne While the lives of Patty Bergen and Anne Frank
shared many similarities such as their relationships with their families and their
love lives, Patty s and Anne s experiences with captivity could not have been any
more different. World War Two had just started in the year of 1939, when the
troubles of Anne and Patty began. It all started when Hitler got elected chancellor
of Germany in 1933(Wikipedia). World War Two lasted for six years, and ended in
1945. Hitler ordered the eradication of all Jewish people (Mainly in Germany).
Over 6 million Jewish people were killed in the Holocaust. Jewish people were sent
to concentration camps around the world, and captured Nazi s were sent to POW
camps everywhere... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next topic is their love lives, which is very different from their family
relationships. Both Patty and Anne fell in love with the person whom they shared
their captivity experience. Anne fell in love with peter, the Van Daan s 16 year
old son (Diary of Anne Frank). Patty fell in love with Anton, a 22 year old man
who was drafter into the war by Hitler (Greene). Anton didn t like Hitler, or even
support his cause. While both Patty and Anne had an age difference in their
relationships, Patty s was much more prominent, at a difference of 10 whole years,
versus Anne and Peter s age gap of only three years. Another similarity is that both
relationships only had a little time to progress. Unfortunately, both Anton and Peter
die by the end of the story (Greene) (Diary of Anne Frank). Clearly, while the lives of
Patty Bergen and Anne Frank share many similarities on the topics of captivity,
family relationships, and love, they could not be any more individual in some other
areas. All these details together make up the two attention grabbing stories of Patty
Bergen and Anne

Advances in dentistry have been revolutionary in the last several decades. According
to the literature, the effects of an aging population contribute to the need for more
and more prosthetic work in dentistry, notably because of tooth loss. The push
towards dental implant prosthetics comes from this aging population losing more teeth
, consequences of fixed prosthesis failure, anatomical consequences, poor
performance of removable prosthesis, consequences of partial dentures, and even the
psychological aspects of tooth loss and the needs of a changing social stigma
regarding dental issues (Misch). Unfortunately, while an implant supported
restoration tends to offer a predictable treatment for tooth replacement, failures do
occur. These failures sometimes negatively impact the physical and psychological
situation for the patient; involving further cost and additional procedures. For the
dental professional, failures jeopardize the ability to successfully treat the desired
issue, from both a medical and an aesthetic point of view, as well as confidence in the
dental provider and treatment option (Levin).
Having an appropriate plan for different methods to deal with dental implant failure is
crucial to the business and professional quality of the modern dental professional.

Response to History and Knowing Who We Are
History never seems like history when you are living through it. This quote by John
W. Gardner accurately depicts the inability of most young people to understand the
importance of history. Every decision that is made creates an outcome. Once that
outcome occurs, it becomes history. To many, history is seen as simply cluster of
sequential events of the past. Rather, it is a record of the emotional and physical
hardships generations have gone through to bring us to the present and also affect
our future. In order for history to be taught well, it must be understood that the

Without history, we would not be able to see the progressive flow of literature, art,
medicine, and science. Without history, we would not be able to interpret it. From
thousands of years of recorded history, we have been able to see humankind
develop in its knowledge and spreading of ideas. During the settlement of the
English in the colonies, outbreaks of malaria, smallpox, and other diseases killed
off an enormous portion of the Indian population and even some of the English. In
the present day, fighting off smallpox seems like an incredibly small feat compared
to just a few hundred years ago. Without the spread of the Renaissance bridging the
Middle and Modern Ages through Latin roots and vernacular, the English language
may not have developed to what it is now, being taught all over the world as universal

49. Insulation Lab Report Essay
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE The purpose of this experiment is to determine
which type of material provides the best insulation. The independent variables are
the types of materials used, the dependant variable is the mass of the ice that has
melted, and the controls are the temperature of the air in the room and the
pressure. The reason for this experiment is to provide simple solutions for
expensive insulation. BACKGROUND RESEARCH Insulation is any type of
material that prevents the movement of heat or electricity and is used to keep an
area either warm or cold (Insulation, 2016). Insulation works by creating a layer that
blocks or reduces the heat movement from one material to another by minimizing
the conduction of heat. It is used to keep either the inside of a structure chilled, or it
can be used to keep a large enclosed space, such as a home or building, warm... Show

NASA uses a metallic, shiny, thin insulation on all of the missions, including on
the Hubble Space Telescope and the Mars rovers. Although it is extremely
lightweight, it is very strong. This same insulation technology has been used
throughout the planet to supply effective thermal blankets to people in need (A
Shining Example of Space Benefits, 2007). The benefits of home insulation far
exceed the disadvantages. Some advantages are reduced energy bills, more
tolerable air temperatures, and a cleaner community because of a reduced carbon
footprint. Insulation will also help to block out sounds from outside, and keep
sounds from inside the building from being heard from the outdoors (The Benefits
of Home Insulation, 2014). Styrofoam is believed to work as the best insulator
because it is used in coolers. Styrofoam coolers already do an excellent job of
keeping things frozen and cold. Styrofoam contains many air pockets or bubbles
which prohibit heat conduction so the heat does not transfer in or out of the
50. Cellulite
Cellulite is a condition of adipose origin in which adipose tissue protrudes through the
dermis causing an orange peel or cottage cheese type dimpling of skin seen most
commonly on the thighs and buttocks of many post pubertal women. The initial
changes leading to cellulite formation appear to be deterioration of the capillary
network, vascular changes and abnormal deposits of glycosaminoglycans, leading to
excess fluid retention within subcutaneous tissues. A variety of treatments ranging
from topical creams to laser therapies are currently available, claiming to reduce the
dimpled skinappearance however successful results are often anecdotal, subjective or

The inability to repair tissue damage due to continued oedema and vascular
congestion can lead to thickening and sclerosis of the fibrous septae in the superficial
adipose tissue and deep dermis, creating the clinical appearance of cellulite.
Cellulite is an unwanted condition and a rising demand for cellulite reduction has
new non invasive treatment modalities becoming popular. Currently there are
numerous medications, devices and diverse therapies that allegedly treat cellulite
however there is little evidence to support long term effectiveness. Due to the nature
of cellulite, effective treatment would need to repair and strengthen the dermis as
well as expel the fat protrusion back underneath the dermis. Retinoids are thought to
increase dermal collagen fibres, allowing the dermis to prevent further herniation of
fat as the collagen deposition makes the dermis much stronger, therefore reducing the
appearance of cellulite.
Endermologie is a hand held mechanical system used to simulate manual massages of
the skin. It is hypothesized that it is able to reduce the appearance of cellulite by
causing damages to the subcutaneous fat cells by positive (rolling) and negative
(suction) pressures, disrupting fat cells and allowing for better distribution of
subcutaneous fat.

As mentioned, the job of a therapist to create the machinery of therapy, to set it in
motion, and to keep it operating with the maximum effectives (Yalom, 2005). First

Fourth, it is quite clear that Apple II and Macintosh Divisions were having a power
struggle over importance within the company. There was obvious tension between
the Apple II Division, which felt its contributions to the firm was undervalued, and
the Macintosh Division, whose general manager, Jobs, saw it as the technological
vanguard within Apple. We see this conflict between the divisions as detrimental to
the growth of the company.
Lastly, it seems that Dubinsky was unable to handle the problem in the correct
manner. She had numerous reasons to believe that her current approach for
distribution was working fine and Jobs lacked a strong reason to completely
change the approach. She believed that the company was necessarily acting as a
financer for the dealers, most of whom were not very strong financially. If this
process is changed, it could be catastrophic for the dealers. The problem with
Dubinsky was the fact that she was not able to sell her ideas to the top
management. She believed, very simplistically, that she was supposed to handle her
own job, and no one else should meddle in her realm of responsibilities. That was
not the correct approach. She needed to justify her actions to her superiors and
should not have felt let down if asked to explain her position. She also seemed to be
quite inflexible in her approach. She had dismissed Jobs approach without analyzing
the possible merits.

his character as well as his flaws. J. Alfred Prufrock needs this ranting monologue in

In the next stanza, Prufrock tells himself repeatedly that indeed there will be time.
This repetition is used in order to display Prufrock re assuring himself that he does
not need to meet the women in the room just yet, there will be time for himself and
the woman he loves to meet and talk. Prufrock believes that there is enough time for
his hundred of indecisions and revisions before the taking of a toast and tea.
Not only does Prufrock seem to be afraid of confronting woman talking of

There will be time, there will be time, To prepare a face to meet the faces that you

Prufrock s social anxiety results in his worrying how others see him. He thinks
about women s arms and perfume, but does not know how to act. He admits he is
ultimately afraid (line 86) of engaging in social activities. Elliot reveals the height
of Prufrock s paralysis by scrutinizing the absurdity of Prufrock s concerns: Should
I, after tea and cakes and ices, / Have the strength to force the moment to its crisis?
In the next few stanzas, Prufrock describes himself balding, middle aged, and plain
