2. Communication Theories by Werner Joseph Severin Essay
Werner Joseph Severin explored communication theories on a wide range through this book, and as
our lives are based entirely on communication persuasion is used daily in different forms, based on
different theories, aiming at changing our attitudes and directing them towards the desired
outcome, therefore chapter 8 theories of persuasion focused on persuasion. As being exposed to
new information every day and changing our attitudes accordingly persuasion has reached its goal,
for example, if you like something and new information you have been exposed to changed your
attitude towards it, then this is a successful persuasion communication. Persuasion can affect our
beliefs as will, as what you believe to be true can be altered by a... Show more content on

The research involved a number of variables that are manipulated very carefully to note there
effects. Additionally, according to Hovland attitudes are learned and are changed through the same
process of learning.
The experimental section of the research branch of the war department s information and education
division evaluated studies of films already existing, and had experimental studies where two
versions of the same film were compared, the second type of research set the way for the rest of the
attitude change research. The first task that this section took upon as evaluating the first four films
of a series of films called why we fight , which was designed to motivate American soldiers to fight
in the war. This research became part of the evidence suggesting that strong held attitudes are less
likely to change because of one mass communication message. On the top of that researchers began
then to examine attitude change due to the cognitive process, which means that receivers of the
message actively think about the message and change their attitude. But more recent theories reveal
that a number of variables working together at the same time results in attitude change. furthermore,
to change attitudes there are specific techniques to follow, the first technique is the one sided and
two sided messages, which is basically either presenting one side of the message

Industry information
The transportation and logistics company is a fast growing industry, and it is very competitive.
Many companies invest heavily in the transport and logistics company to ensure the flow of goods
from the producer to the consumer market. A good flow of products to the consumers provides
growth in a country. The logistics companies deal with the planning and coordination of the
transportation and delivery of the goods. In 2015, the U.S earned $1.48 trillion, which was
approximately 8% of the annual gross domestic product (GDP) (U.S Logistics Industry Statistics
and Facts, 2017). Many firms, both multinational and local, have tried to find solutions to the
underlying problems in the transportation and Logistics industry to ensure good movement of
goods from producer to consumer market.
Company information

4. The Potential And Its Effects On Cancer Cells
Limitless replicative potential is an acquired capability of many cancer cells, and it was listed as
one of the original hallmarks of cancer [1]. It is mostly achieved by upregulation of telomerase, a
reverse transcriptase DNA synthesis enzyme that maintains the telomeres length. Most tumor cells
have a high level of telomerase activity but short telomeres due to prior divisions before achieving
telomerase activating malignancies [2]. In contrast, normal progenitor cells and stem cells have
relatively long telomeres and lower mitotic/telomerase activity, and in normal differentiated somatic
cells telomerase expression is repressed. Thus, telomerase inhibition provides an attractive
therapeutic opportunity because of its universality, criticality and specificity for cancercells [3].
Numerous strategies have been proposed for silencing this enzyme [reviewed in 2 3], but due to
heterogeneity and complexity of cancers, as well as polymorphisms in human genomes, the search
for effective and precise treatments for polymerase inhibition is still active.
Nanotechnology is the latest evolving field, and its applications in cancer therapeutics have
demonstrated great potential. Specifically, nanomedicine utilizes the advantages of nanodelivery
systems [4]. The nanocarrier system is a new system for transporting biological molecules that has
the advantages of being highly efficient, non immunogenic, safe, inexpensive, biodegradable, and
stable [4].

Since the beginning of time all human beings have had a fascination with human flight. Watching
a bird soar through the air, one cannot help but desire the same capabilities. Imagine the point of
view of the bird that flies high above the trees, among the mountains, over the ocean, and high in
the air, far away from the clamor of everyday life on the ground. To have the freedom and power to
release ones self from the tribulations experienced with two feet on the ground, and spring up and
away into the peaceful, blue sky is a common human desire. Since ancient times, flight has

Flight represents more to the minority than mastering nature or freeing ones self from the bonds
of gravity. To the minority, flight represents freedom. Freedom from the chains of slavery,
freedom from the trappings of this world, freedoms from that which may cause them or their
families harm. America, as a country, is made up of various races and cultures even carries as its
symbol of freedom the Bald Eagle. Although there are differences in literary references to flight
among African American, Hispanic, and American Indian writers, the common thread among them
all is the powerful desire for freedom through flight.
To the African American, references to flight almost always exclusively represent freedom.
Whether these references are in the form of novels, short stories, poetry, or music, the history of
the African s brought to America to serve as slaves is primarily based on the idea of freedom.
Just as it is stated in Course Objective 1a, forced participation was brought about by the acquisition
of slaves. They did not choose to leave their native home of Africa, nor did they choose to live out
their lives as slaves in a foreign country among foreign white people who showed little compassion
for their plight. This left slaves feeling trapped and bound, spiritually, and often times physically,
therefore flight is frequently exercised as a means of escape for African Americans from their
position of oppression

This, however, created chaos in other public programs for instance, Medicare and Social

intervention by reducing federal regulations on business and industry, a policy preferably known
as deregulation which had begun under Carter s presidency (Newman and Schmalbach 650).
Nevertheless, Reagan opposed labor unions he once fired thousands of striking air traffics who
were against their contracts and many businesses followed suit by taking strict measures against
striking. As a result, labor union membership and striking drastically decreased as the economy
grew tough during the Recession of 1982, and foreign competition for American jobs made jobs
insecure and negatively affected worker s wages (Newman and Schmalbach). In 1982,
investments and banks failed leading in a recession; the worst recession since the 1930 s during
the Great Depression. Unemployment skyrocketed to 11 percent as compared to the usual
unemployment rate which is normally 8 percent or under. Fortunately enough, a fall in oil prices
prevented the double digit inflation rate similar to that of the late 1970 s by lowering it to 4
percent. The policies of Reaganomics , mainly centered around cutting government spending and
tax cuts, are what improved and

For my sociology project, I decided to compare and contrast my husband and I cultures. In doing
so I discovered we shared many cultural norms and tradition although there was some noticeable
difference in terms of how our communities are run within our defined societies. My husband hails
from a small country on the coast of West Africa named Sierra Leone. That s a huge contrast from
the Hmong people who don t have a land to call home. Our people through centuries of prosecution
have scatted throughout Asia and America with the vast majority still residing in our ancestral land
of China. Despite this, however, Hmong people like the people of Sierra Leone continue to possess
a strong sense of identity and culture. Often Hmong communities in the United State take on a
specific identity, not unlike American Indians reservation or other sub cultural community in The
United State. Conversely, although the people of Sierra Leone have a nation filled with rich
tradition and culture but continue to be inundated by a western culturewhich could be having an
adverse effect. Ultimately our discussion highlights that both of our people ultimately want to move
forward as one to a better and prosper future.
My husband and I discussed the structure of family in our culture. While mine was a patriarch
system, his, however was the matriarch. Like most Asian culture the male is often the head of the
family and hold the most status. The people of Sierra Leone, however, hold the

In accordance to this, China went on a construction binge. Whole factories were purchased from
abroad while others were built with local resources. By 1978, the frenzy for new projects
reached a level that reminded some people of the Great Leap Forward. In an effort to promote
agricultural production, the government released many of the restrictions on the spontaneous
capitalist tendencies of the peasantry. (173) In the late 1980 s, the government decided to
expand the scope of private marketing. The next step was to increase the amount land assigned
to the peasants. The peasants were now not responsible to the government for the use they made
to the private plots. They simply could grow what they wished, for the sale to the government or
to private markets. This led to furious rebuilding and inflow of foreign investments. All this
enabled China to remake itself into Asian s hub of finance, trade and culture. By 1984, they
were producing more than $1 million worth of rice and a range of side products, including rice
wine. Their residential earning was up to about $200 a year. (Prager 52 ) This meant that they
could begin replacing their mud and straw hats with solid brick houses. Shanghai today is a vast

through the unimaginable pains and discomforts of the disease itself but also the process of
treatment through chemotherapy, the option of using marijuana may prove to be helpful in relief
of the symptoms. In an article published in the San Francisco Chronicle, Kate Scannell, M.D.
wrote From working with AIDS and cancer patients, I repeatedly saw how marijuana could

marijuana brings relief by easing the pain and suffering of just one patient, isn t that enough reason

14. George Moore s Film Roger And Me Essay
There is a spectrum to how a country s economic system is run, and on one end is capitalism and
on the other is socialism. Both are equally good and equally bad, and therefore moderation is the
perfect combination of the two. As of today, America stands too close to the capitalist end of the
spectrum, and thus there are many economic inequalities, in that the rich get richer and the poor get
poorer and pull the less poor down with them. In the example of Flint, Michigan in Michael Moores
film Roger and Me, when the many workers laid off when the GM factory relocated suddenly
became unemployed. Another example of capitalismgone too far is in Mark Dowie s article Pinto
Madness, when Ford s lobbyists made it virtually impossible for lawmakers to make safety
regulations on cars. Thus, with more socialism, so that the two are in moderation, there is a chance
that all Americans can be truly happy. Capitalism and socialism are two extremes of a spectrum
on which all countries fall; there are good and bad parts to both, and therefore a balance must be
struck, as proved by extreme examples of capitalism in Pinto Madness and Roger and Me.
While every country falls along a spectrum between capitalism and socialism, America falls close
to the capitalist end. This is because in America, most property is privately owned, and Americans
value pursuit of personal profit and competition and consumer choice (Macionis 2016: 197). Of
course, while there are publically owned things

15. Character Relationships In Star Wars
Character relationships For stories that captivate the audiences, they need well developed plots with
characters who have interesting relationships with each other. The relationships of the characters
really drive the story because without the important relationships, there will not be a story. The
three points where it seems that the relationships the characters have are important to the story
would be in Star Wars, alien s relationships with humans, and in The Day After Tomorrow. There
are many key relationships characters share in Star Wars that without them, the story would actually
not have been a hit. Three of the relationships are Luke and Darth Vader, Luke and Han Solo, and
Anakin and Obi won. Luke and Darth Vader have an interesting relationship. Since Darth Vader is
in fact Luke s father but at the same time his enemy, it definitely draws the audience in to find out
what happens next. It also makes the final battle scene in Star Wars: Return of the Jedihigh tension
to see what will happen when Luke finally faces his father. Another relationship that helps the
story would be Luke and Han Solo. This character relationship is about two friends. It is
important to the story because Han Solo has gone out of his way to make sure Luke is alive,
such as when Luke was left out in the cold on Hoth. If Han Solo did not have the urge to save his
friend then there would be no story without the main character. Also, Han Solo and Luke fight side

findings that led to them to perform the study. One of said previous research findings, Gender and
the meanings of adolescent romantic relationships: A focus on boys. (Giordano, Longmore and

need of protection and sexual guidance in learning about sex. Therefore, inadvertently labeling

boys connect feeling dominant with excitement. They are expected to not show feelings, and girls

more specifically, sexualized good. They conduct a study of how the products that retailers sell,
prematurely sexualize children. They came to the conclusion that the sexualization of children is

Q: What were Cortes and Bernal Diaz s motives for writing their accounts of the conquest? How did
these motives color their narratives of the conquest?
Record keeping has been around since the beginning of time. Even before humans existed, the
planet earth keeps detailed records of itself in rocks, trees, and ice. Writing of events has been very
important in the process of capturing, storing, and sharing information. Writing also allows the
document to be sent off to a far off land without the story being sent through multiple story tellers,
losing and gaining valuable details making it something of a myth. People write differently

Diaz was proud of what he and his fellow conquistadors had accomplished. By writing about his
accounts of the conquest he hoped to receive some recognition and reward from Spain. The
possibility of power, and economical growth motivated these writings. But it was not all about
money for him. He was a hard working man who wanted everyone to know his and his fellow

After he finished the project, he learned that others had published before his. Chronicles were
published by accomplished writers who had not seen the events first hand, and according to Diaz,

This publication motivated Diaz to write his second book, which he called The True history of the

Physics attempts to describe the fundamental nature of the universe and how it works, always
striving for the simplest explanations common to the most diverse behaviour. For example, physics
explains why rainbows have colours, what keeps a satellite in orbit, and what atoms and nuclei are
made of. The goal of physics is to explain as many things as possible using as few laws as possible,
revealing nature s underlying simplicity and beauty. Physics has been applied in many industrial
fields, which include the air industry, construction industry, automobile industry, manufacturing

The fluid moving over the top travels a greater distance than the moving just under the bottom of
the wing. Consequently, the fluid moving over the top must travel faster in order to conform to the
shape of the wing and still maintain the natural streamline. The shape of the wing also crowds the
streamlines together above the wing, just as in the case of a constructing pipe. The result is that of
the region immediately above the wing. Because the downward force on the top of the wing is less
than the upward force on the bottom, a net upward force, or lift, arises from the airflow. (Beyond
the airfoil the flowing air has a downward component of velocity. By Newton s third law, the
reaction force to the net downward force exerted on the air is the lift.) For lift to occur, a flow of
air is required relative to the wing. The lift occurs equally well for a wing moving through
stationary air or for moving past a stationary wing.
In general, as the flow of air past the wing increases, both the lift force and the drag force (the
resistance to forward motion) increases. According to Breithaipt (2000), aircraft wings are
designed so that pilots can change the wing shape during flight, producing greater lift for the
slower speeds of takeoff and landing and producing less drag at cruising extended

20. Drug History And Policy Changes
Drug History and Policy Changes
There is a debate in the American government system on how to handle the use of drug and
alcohol. In the 1960s drugs were uprising along with youth rebellion and in 1971 Nixon declared
a War on Drugs (Citation a brief). This name is not to be confused with the band War on Drugs,
but the term is still popularly used to describe the policies that Government officials are making
regarding drugs and alcohol. This debate got reheated when Colorado legalized weed for medical
and recreational use, followed by several other states. There has slowly been a shift in mindset
from, alcoholics are drug addicts are all criminals and we (the law) should throw them in jail to
addiction is a disease. Even the way that addicts/alcoholics are treated has changed to treatment
centers with specialist versus throwing them in the hospital to detox and hoping for a change.
Policies that are shifting the penalty from incarceration to treatment reflect these changes and help
the individual suffering from the disease to get back on their feet. The war on drugs rings on, but
changes are being made.
War on Drugs
As I said early, President Nixon issued the War on Drugs. He started by placing marijuana in the
highest restrictive category of drugs, Schedule One, and ignored later attends to decriminalize
drugs. However, starting in 1973, eleven states decriminalized marijuana usage. Ronald Reagan

21. Consequences Of Home Fire In Antigone
In Sophocles play Antigone a young girl is confronted with a difficult choice of obeying the law
of the land or fulfilling her filial duty. Her uncle has forbidden the burial of a traitor; the traitor
happens to be Antigone s brother who has declared war on his city. Antigone must decide: should
she be compelled by personal motives and bury her brother the punishment for which is death
penalty or should she obey the law and leave her brother s corpse to be feasted upon by vultures?
Either of the choices is a risk; both have consequences. And it is around this arithmetic of risks and
consequences that Kamila Shamsie s latest novelHome Fire , a modern day retelling of Sophocles
Antigone, is built. In this paper, I will analyze the risks taken by the four main characters, and the
consequences they face, and the factors that shape these risks and consequences.
Research Question
My research question is: Are the consequences of the risks taken different for the male and
female characters in Kamila Shamsie s Home Fire ? This novel, Kamila Shamsie s most critically
acclaimed to date, has been noted for its strong characterization. According to James Wood, New
Yorker s chief literary critic, and Professor of Practice of Literary Criticism at Harvard, the
strongest characters in fiction are the ones whose lacunae and omissions tease us, provoke us in
unpredictable ways (Wood, 2008). The characters in this book take unpredictable, even capricious
risks. But the kind of

22. Social Media As Forms Of Electronic Communication
When my generation was growing up we used to hear things from our parents like you watch too
much television . Today, that could easily translate to sound like the same in regards to the use
of Social Media. Merriam Webster s Dictionary defines social media as forms of electronic
communication through which users create online communities to share information, ideas,
personal messages, and other content (Social Media). Social Media provides great tools and
features for social interaction with others in the form of file sharing including photos, videos,
and real time chat. Some of the most common and popular social sites are FaceBook, Twitter,
YouTube, and Instagram. Social Media sites provide numerous entertainment features, as well
as a plethora of ways for people from all over the world to connect with each other, make new
friends, or connect with old ones. I feel these sites truly share a common goal of uniting,
connecting, and bringing people closer together but, there is a dark side to be noted. Social
Media, if used in moderation, can be a useful tool indeed but, like anything else when used
excessively, it can be dangerous to our mental health and well being. The abuse of Social Media
can have addictive qualities which may adversely affect ones mental health. Regardless of its
effects though, Social Media is still widely used for various purposes in society and is no doubt
here to stay. FaceBook for example, has grown enormously popular in recent years and

The Pharisees Rationale Sadducees, Pharisees, Essenes, and Zealots are four major Jewish sects
active in Palestine at the Second Temple Judaism period around 25 B.C. to 70 A.D. Those sects
had distinguished characteristics and beliefs. A scroll written in Hebrew language in a stone box,
which discovered by archaeologists was written by one of the four Jewish sects based on their
belief. The scroll points out in the first few sentences that the Lord they believe in respects other s
religious belief unlike their profane enemies, Romans, who consider the Lord and them as the
destruction. The Pharisees wrote the scroll as they believed following laws, rules, and regulations
leads one to the Lord and eternal life. Sadducees, one of the major sects, did not believe about
resurrection, angels, and souls. Their belief was strongly based on five books of Moses (6, slide #

The Pharisees were a political party, social movement, and educators during the Second Temple age.
From the New Testament, Pharisees had conflicts with John the Baptist and Jesus Christ. The

discussed in the lecture slide as platonic immortality of the soul and end time bodily resurrection
(6, Slide#22). They believed that good people would be reincarnated into other bodies while bad
people will suffer eternal punishment. The text from the scroll stated, Messiah come and strike the
earth with the word of His mouth . Also, the following line said that he is coming not only to take

In this negotiation, I played the role of the buyer of the car, Mazda MX В– 6 from Francesco, who
played the role of the seller. The task involved negotiating for the right price for the used car.
When I was planning for the negotiation the most important criteria was that the car must certainly
have all those specifications which the 1994 Jeep Cherokee Sport was offering. That is, an air
conditioning, AM/FM stereo, 6 cylinder engine and the mileage should be the same or more than
the Jeep. Also, I had firmly decided to buy the Mazda under all circumstances and not go in for the

Francesco made the first offer in this negotiation process of $8000, as mentioned earlier. I think
it does matter as to who puts the first offer because the first offer has a direct impact on your
opponent. If your first offer is extremely inflated, the other person thinks on the higher side and
may close the deal at a higher price than what he had thought of initially. However, if your offer
is low, the other person will try to manipulate you in such a way that he may tend to close the

Walt Disney s massive company, which embodies theme parks, resorts, movies, and television,
slowly sprouted from less than birth of Mickey Mouse. The Walt Disney began its franchise reign
of the entertainment industry in 1928 with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse made its debut in
select short films, the most notable being Steamboat Willie (Gamble 2014). Since then, even
decades after Walt Disney s actual death in 1966, Mickey Mouse has been the central icon around
the world for this organization dedicated to bringing fantasy into the realm of reality. The Disney
Company has been able to successfully incorporate the famous mousey emblem into to the ever
changing culture as a universal sign of quality entertainment for children and adults alike.
Additionally, multiple product lines that have spun off of Mickey s reputation combined with a
transnational strategy have facilitated the organization to swell from a small animation studio to
one of the most widely recognized and highly acclaimed trademarks worldwide.
The differentiation of Disney s product lines has been a key component to the company s
surmounting accomplishments. Hotels, resorts, cruise lines, theme parks, and the beloved live

Dear Mr. Davenport, Director of Athletics at Oklahoma Baptist University
As you very well know, Oklahoma Baptist University competes in twenty one varsity sports at the
NCAA Division II level. Every year, approximately 500 student athletes from all around Oklahoma,
the United States, and the globe come to Bison Hill to compete on one of those twenty one teams.
As a member of the Bison baseball team, I ve been very blessed to meet and play with a diverse
group of guys. Over the first couple of months that I ve been at OBU, however, I ve noticed a
barrier that student athletes place between their team and other students. Generally, most student
athletes solely hang out with their teammates of the sport they play. Now it s important for
teammates to build chemistry with one another, but at the same time it causes a feeling of division
among other students. The most effective way to solve this problem is by putting student athletes
in a position to feel unified with the rest of the university through activities that form and
strengthen relationships, student clubs and organizations, and groups that encourage growth in
Christ.
Over the course of a school year, student athletes spend a majority or their time with their
teammates. In offseason, they might spend an hour or so with their teammates, plus another hour
or two in study hall with them. Whereas during season, they could spend up to a full day or two
with their teammates on a road trip. When athletes aren t on the field,

helping others, because there are plenty of stories told by people firsthand on camera. It truly does
show you how amazing your donations and volunteer work means to these people who have been
damaged. These people could have died without the help of all the great donors and volunteers to
this foundation. This organization should continue because of all of the great things this
organization has done specifically when they help out communities who have been struck with
disaster out of nowhere, and bring them back to strong, amazing communities. A key idea that I

31. Truman Capote Rhetorical Analysis
In Kansas of the year 1959, there happened to be murders of a pretty popular family in a small
town called Holcomb. These murders led to an extremely intense investigation. Truman wrote a
nonfiction book about this whole situation, his story follows the lives of the murderers before,
during and after murders took place. It also shows the panic and anxiety of the citizens who also
lived in Holcomb, and finally the consequences the murderers received. The famous author Truman
Capoteused rhetorical devices such as foreshadowing, symbolism and imagery to set an intended
tone and enhance his writing style.
Capote used foreshadowing to create a mystery and suspense for the reader to get them interested
early. He establishes that four shotgun blasts that, all told, ended six human lives. (5) This
warns the readers that someone will die and creates suspense knowing people will die we just
don t know who. After we learn more about the Clutters, he shows a discussion between Mr.
Clutter and some hunters that want to use his land and then as Mr. Clutter is leaving, the author
reminded the audience that a death was going to occur by stating: he headed for home and the
day s work, unaware that it would be his last. (13) Additionally, Capote also foreshadows that
Perry and Dick are going to be the murderers by giving subtle hint; for instance, in the backseat of
the Chevrolet sedan was a twelve gauge pump action shotgun, brand new. (22) This was used to
foreshadow that an illegal

The European Monetary Union (EMU) The Euro as a Single Currency
Liberalizing trade is nothing new to the world, but we have never witnessed such a vast economic

Customs duties between European countries started to come down steadily in the early 1950s and
were abolished in 1968 with the introduction of a customs union and the implementation of the

The introduction of the euro will have important implications not only for the Union and its
Member States but also for their partners. But while it will be a major event for international
monetary relations and the international monetary system, there will be no abrupt change; nor is it
likely to be destabilizing.
In order to prepare for the euro, and once it is in place, Member States need to follow sound
economic policies based on low inflation, healthy public finances and stable monetary conditions.
These rules of good economic management are the recipe for low interest rates, strong
investment growth, and therefore high growth and job creation. Firms across the world and not
just in Europe will benefit from these improved growth prospects. The strength of Europe as a
trade partner will open new prospects for exporters in the rest of the world. Foreign companies
especially will benefit, because there will be only one market to penetrate rather than 15.
Therefore, the costs of doing business in Europe will go down significantly, fostering competition
and lowering prices across the Union.

39. Performance Enhancing Drugs Should Be Allowed
One of the most debated topics in all of sports is whether performance enhancing drugs should be
allowed. According to the free dictionary, performance enhancing drugs is defined as Any drug
used to gain an advantage in sports. Such drugs may improve endurance or strength or accelerate
healing after injury . Performance enhancing drugs was first acknowledged as a problem in
professional sports in 1967 when the international Olympic committee created a medical board due
to the heightened use. Today there are seven types of performance enhancers including: stimulants,
narcotics, anabolic androgenic steroids, beta 2 agonists, peptide hormones, diuretics, blood doping.
That number might seem small but there is a massive amount of variety within these drugs that is
causing more and more athletes every year to use them. Performance enhancing drugs should be
illegal because of the unfair advantage, health risks, and the lack of role models that athletes would
play. Sports have been around since the beginning of time. As the games age and become more
popular, they start to evolve and become more competitive at the same time. This evolution comes
from better strategies, techniques, and ultimately the athletes themselves. In today s modern era of
sports, professional athletes are the most elite people in their field, always wanting to be better than
anyone else. With every athlete striving to become one of the greatest to ever play, some want to

In the recent decades, this theory of high intelligence has gone under much research and

the species phenology and evolution along with other cognitively gifted animals, such as apes (van

aspects such as spatial reasoning and memory, these corvids prove less competent in the areas like

43. Training of Customer Service
Important points to consider when training customer service employees.
Who are the most important people in your organization? It may come as a surprise to learn that the
most important people are your employees not your customers. Customers come second.
Without qualified and well trained employees committed to strong customer service all of your
efforts to please customers will be fruitless.
Customer service training has become a popular way for service organizations to provide
employees with the information they need to meet customer needs.
It should not, however, be considered a one time or annual event. Customer service training is an
ongoing process that needs to be incorporated into the organization s culture and way ... Show more

Then, when a real situation occurs they will have a higher comfort level about their ability to
respond effectively.
8) Encourage employees to talk to their worst nightmare customers. Customers who are most
demanding, who complain the loudest or who are hardest to please can be a rich source of
information in your customer service improvement efforts. After all, if you can please these tough
customers you should be able to consistently delight your average customers.
Behind the complaints and the demands you ll often find very valid points and issues that you can
use to improve service. Resist the urge to ignore the tough customers; consider them your best
resource for good information on service improvement.
9) Share failures celebrate successes. Don t just focus on successes. Don t just point out failures.
You need a good balance of both failure and success stories to build a strong service culture. Staff
can learn from their own failures as well as the failures of others. Treat each failure not as an
opportunity to punish staff, but as an opportunity to learn. Why did the failure occur? What could
be done differently next time to avoid such a failure? What lessons might other staff learn to avoid
these issues?
Similarly, take time to celebrate your successes and to share these success examples with all
employees. Sometimes the best customer service training for staff can be a good debriefing of
either a

44. An Explication Of Sylvia Plath s Daddy
Sylvia Plath is a passionate poet, and her poem Daddy shows a broad range of emotions. She likes
to use her writing to let out all her delicate feelings and expresses how she feels in her poem
Daddy. This particular poem of hers is somewhat dark and leaves the person who reads this with a
sense of hopelessness and misery, the reader questions why the writer feels this way. The speaker
of SylviaPlath s poem Daddydepicts that she both loves and dislikes her father.
By reading this poem, you can undertake that she is speaking about her affiliation with her father,
for the reason that the title states it. Her raw emotions of unhappiness and fury that are in this poem
portray this assumption pretty well. By interpreting this poem her father was a German refugee and

The poem also expresses diverse emotions such as anger, grief, depression, and some distress.
There are several imageries of oppression in her poem Daddy of Nazis, swastikas, barbed wires,
fascists, brutes, devils, and vampires are so frantic, imposing, and vituperative that the poem seems
more out of control that it truly is. (http://web.b.ebscohost.com.ezp.tccd.edu) In Plath s poem, it is
clear that these characteristics are fantasies, not for the ultimate and distinct purpose that they arise
inside a text, but because the sonnet addresses the production of imaginary as such. In this sense, I
read Daddy as a poem about its conditions of language and illusion production. Rather than casually
produce identification, it asks a question about identification, laying out one set of unbearable
psychic conditions under which such an identification with the Jew might take place.

45. Some People Like Poetry
Europe Paper Elton Pope states, When you re a kid, they tell you it s all... Grow up, get a job, get
married, get a house, have a kid, and that s it. But the truth is, the world is so much stranger than
that. It s so much darker. And so much madder. And so much better . Throughout one s personal
timeline, events in which occur in what seems like random happenstance are actually what help to
shape one into the personthey are destined to be. Times like these are often known as stepping
stones , and take place in each individuals lives. The cycle of life withholds three major events in
which are touched upon in European literature. Appreciation of life, overcoming milestones, and
facing death, are all well experienced events spread across... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Finding yourself and one s individuality is apart of each person s journey throughout life. In the
poem Some People Like Poetry , the narrator gives an obvious statement of being who you are.
[B]ut then, you can like chicken noodle soup, or compliments, or the color blue, your old scarf,
your own way, petting the dog (489). Despite the like and dislikes, sense of who you are is a
large portion of every person s life. Being smacked abruptly by reality is unfortunate, yet a very
relatable experience taken on by all people. The narrator from Ars Poetica! shows the struggle
with finding that the world is not exactly what was expected of it. And yet the world is different
from what it seems to be and we are other than how we see ourselves (493). With overcoming and
accepting disappointments in life, we as people develop into more rational beings. Author
Szymborska, expresses the realization of human alikeness through her quote, [M]ortal a hundred out
of a hundred. Thus far this figure still remains unchanged (491). Much growth to better ourselves is
allowed after having experiencing finding your individuality, and acceptance of others and the
world. Though a positive outcome may come from dealing with these milestones, facing death has
much more of a skeptical impact on a

48. El Tovar Research Paper
I had just woken up to one of the greatest exciting days of my life. My family and I had remained
at the EL Tovar Hotel on the edge of the Grand Canyon in Grand Canyon, Arizona, since we
arrived Thursday afternoon. The El Tovar Hotel first opened its doors in 1905. The hotel is
constructed from limestone and Oregon pine. The hotel is a mix between a Swiss chalet and a
Norwegian villa. The El Tovar required around two hundred and fifty thousand dollars to be
created. The El Tovar Hotel was later named a National Historic Landmark in 1987. Now let us
move to the furthermost important part of my adventure, visiting the Grand Canyon. After we
had become dressed and had breakfast, my family and I departed the El Tovar Hotel to
adventure around the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon was created by the mighty Colorado
River over a period of five million years. The Grand Canyon measures at over two hundred and
seventy miles long, and about eighteen miles wide at its widest point and over one mile deep!
The Grand Canyon was instated as a national park in 1919. The Grand Canyon was made a
national park because an early explorer of it left a journal and stated how valueless the canyon was,
and President Theodore Roosevelt after visiting the canyon, thought it was necessary that the Grand
Canyon was made a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

time we arrived back at the hotel, it was late at night. At last, I could sleep after this tiring but an

49. Walker Ltd
Objectives:
1. To illustrate the importance of the assumptions embedded in a profit plan
2. To familiarise students with various sources of business information
3. To learn how to use a profit plan to test key business decisions
Case Synopsis
The case portrays a series of profit planning decisions in a family owned publishing company. The
case is written by and about the same individual, Ramsey Walker, a young, recent business school
graduate. The case begins with a quick overview of Walker amp; Company s (Walker) history.
Case Theory and Background
Companies use profit plans for several reasons:
пј‘пјЋTo translate the strategy of the business into a detailed plan to create value. This helps
managers quantify trade offs and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This creates power imbalances potentially unfavourable to small companies such as Walker, with
large publishers able to compete on price, and large retailers able to negotiate better terms. The
price wars are forcing all publishers to spend more on advertising and to market books in more
creative ways such as discounting to schools. Other industry trends that increase financial volatility
include the hit driven nature of the business and the uncertain impact of technology, both as a
product (multimedia) and as a distribution channel (Amazon.com).
Walkers Competitive Position
Given the favourable (if not dramatic) trends for the children s book market, the cutthroat
competitive situation, and Walker s firm specific resources and capabilities, most students
recommended that Walker focus on becoming a niche player in the children s market. Children s
books are currently Walker s largest source of revenue (40%) and grew by 12.5% (excluding the
backlist) between 1995 and 1997, indicating a solid experience base. Given Walker s size, it will
be unable to compete on price. Furthermore, the company does not have the resources to enter
more profitable segments such as professional (e.g. Legal) books, which require both large
upfront costs (e g. $0 million over 5 years for an education title) and large ongoing marketing
spending (25% of sales).

50. The Monkey s Paw And The Keys Of Destiny Analysis
In both stories The Monkey s Paw and The Keys of Destiny they prove that money isn t the
source of happiness. Even though they have the same theme the two authors get this theme across
in two completely different ways. With the story The Monkey s Paw the author uses the death of
Herbert (the son of one of main character) to reveal the theme, while in The Keys of Destiny the
author uses the keys of destiny to get the same effect. The main reason that the themes are
presented differently is because of the craft moves that are being used. For example, in The
Monkey s Paw the author W.W. Jacobs used revealing actions and in The Keys of Destiny the
author Neil Philip uses symbolism.
The main factor in the different ways that the two authors got the theme across was the craft
moves. In The Monkey s Paw W.W. Jacobs uses revealing actions to get the main theme across.
In the story one of Mr. White s friends tried to throw out a mummified paw of a monkey because
he claims it was cursed. Disregarding that it was cursed and can cause consequences if he uses it
he asks for money which he would regret later in the story. W.W Jacobs shows this when he writes,
I wish for two hundred pounds, said the old man distinctly. (1.5) this quote is just the first action of
where he wishes for the money the revealing part comes later when the Whites obtains the money.
The revealing action is when the Whites hear about the death of their son that goes back to their
wish for money,

51. Summary Of Daniel s Story
Daniel s Story Daniel s story is about a boy named Daniel and his family. The book takes place
when HItler was dictator and took Jews to concentration camps where they died and worked for
the S.S guards. The beginning of the book is told on a train on the way to Auschwitz that s a
concentration camp for the Jews through a photograph album, he tells what each picture means and
what happened in each picture. They went without being captured first but guards invaded their
hometown and captured all Jews along with their personal belongings and any money they had.
The guards especially wanted to take their radios, cameras, electronic appliances and other items
that could be worth a lot for the guards. Once they were captured they are sent to Lodz... Show

Daniel and his father had to go without seeing his mother or sister for a while, but that changed
when Daniel and his father were forced to march back and forth all the way throughout the camp
carrying heavy supplies of water on their shoulders. Erika was in the band that played and
marched along with them, once they saw her they tried the best they could to see her because
the rules were very strict, if someone stumbled or fallen they were shot instantly. Once Daniel
got to speak to Erika they were informed their mother had died. The burden on Daniel s father s
shoulders where big, he started getting sick and weak and lost himself in the act of grieving but
soon realized he had to stay strong for his family. Soon after the Americans came and rescued the
Jews and any others from the concentration camps and were given food, clothing, and a little bit
of money to help them get to where they were going. So in this story there are a whole lot of
historically accurate events, locations, themes, and more. Take Lodz ghetto in Poland for example.
That s where one of the largest Jewish communities were. The biggest being Warsaw. That was the
first stop for their family. Auschwitz was one of the biggest concentration camps in the world it
