Green Creek Case Study
On November 3, 2016 the Euclid High School S.A.V.E. Club volunteered at Green Creek. The
S.A.V.E. Club is an environmental club that focuses on advocating for an healthy environment in
the City of Euclid and surrounding areas. Green Creek was part of the Euclid Railroad. The
railroad closed and the land was left abandoned. Eventually a paintball club took over the property
and created an unorthodox paintball field. Green Creek is surrounded by apartment and has
become a dumping ground. Recently the City of Euclid, Alliance for the Great Lakes, and Friends
of Euclid Creek have taken an interest in the property. Green Creek is now surrounded by a fence
to keep people out and prevent future dumping into the creek. Paul Beno with the City s Department

Historical questions:
В· SLIDE 1: Specifics of the historical topic or issue
1. WHO was involved?
The two groups involved in this historical issue were factory workers and business owners.
Business owners who had selfish ideals and didn t care about the safety of their employees because
they were clouded by greed.
2. WHAT happened?
During this time factory workers faced harsh working conditions and had low paying wages.
They weren t given basic rights as workers and they were certainly not protected. The conditions
they had to work in were horrible having due that there weren t any reliable emergency exits and
they were exposed to unsafe, dangerous equipment. In many cases workers lost limbs or were

This is when the US started overflowing with new urban cities, where factories were built. New
technologies and machines were introduced during this time, which made the US the ideal trading
partner. This drastic advancement led to overproduction but most importantly it caused the blood
and tears of deprived factory workers.
В· SLIDE 3: Causation
8. Why did it happen?
I believe that this event happened because of the ideology, Laissez Fare. This ideology supported
the privacy and liberty to all business owners. In other words the government was not actively
involved in the way these owners ran their factories and they were most definitely not concerned
with how factory workers were treated. Instead government officials ignored the problems within
these factories and showed zero importance towards workers well being. There did not exist any
laws or rules that limited business owners authorities of their factories.
9. How did the context/events of the time period lead to this event?
The need for advancing and introducing mass production is what enabled such event to occur.
Without this need, factories probably wouldn t have been created and business owners wouldn t
have reasons to act

NOT PRIDE BUT FREEDOM: Rhetorical Analysis of John F. Kennedy s Inaugural Address
Tanner A. Woody Anderson University On January 20, 1961, John Fitzgerald Kennedy
delivered a speech with a backdrop of snow and a twenty degree wind blowing in his face in
Washington D.C. In his speech, he starts off with saying that his victory is not for a party but it
is for freedom. At the climax of his speech, JFK delivers a call to action which is also the most
well known line from his speech: ...ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you
can do for your country. Following that extraordinary remark, he extends that call to the world
by asking what they can all do together for the freedom of the world. Type, Purpose, and
Audience This speech was not just a ceremonial speech, it also played the praise and blame game
with Russia and also casted a vision for America and the role that it would play in the world.
After the majority of the speech was finished, Kennedy stated that all this will not be finished in
the first one hundred days. Nor will it be finished in the first one thousand days, nor in the life of
this Administration, nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin, to see a
world where peace is prominent (Line 21). Kennedy placed special emphasis on his role as the
voice of a new generation, a group with exceptional values and qualities, confirming that this speech
would set the pace and the tone for his Presidency

Essay about Wilfred Owen Speech
Ok what I have got here today is a detailed speech and I intend to explain two poems Disabled and
Dolce et Decorum est. , both written by Wilfred Owen. I would choose these two poems to be in
an anthology because I found the poems to be very dramatic and extremely detailed. Owen intends
to shock us by demonstrating what a soldier might expect in a situation between life and death. He
is not afraid to show his own feelings. Wilfred Owenis an anti war poet and expresses his ideas and
feelings through various themes and poetic devices which I will be discussing throughout this
speech.
Wilfred Owens themes portray his attitude towards what war is and what might happen to an
individual during warfare. The war strips the individuals of ... Show more content on

Owen intends to shock us by presenting the reality he is feeling, this is why I had chosen this to
be one of my poems Owen usesgraphic descriptions, speaking in a very direct and
straightforward way, using words that convey ugliness and also shows the reality of war which
clearly changes our thoughts of war in the end. Wilfred Owens captivating poem Disabled relates
to the after effects of what war can be responsible for. The poem depicts an ironic contrast
between a strong limbed, handsome youth hero in battle and a wrecked body in a wheelchair
which occurs when a man becomes horribly wounded. His themes are clear that there is no glory in
war and war strips men of their youth.
Owen demonstrates how naive the minds of young boys were during the period of the war.
Quotes such as Aye, that was it, to please the giddy jilts or Someone said he d look a god in kilts
suggests that he joined the army to impress others and to maintain this popular image that he
seemed to possess. Then the quotes Germans he scarcely thought of he had no fears and He
thought of jewelled hilts for daggers in plaid socks of smart salutes further demonstrates that the
young soldier clearly has no real view on what war

Hypnosis As A Type Of Mind Control
Hypnosis is defined as the induction of a state of trance where the individual is susceptible to
supposedly involuntary changes in behavior and physical state by the power of suggestion. It is
often seen by the public as a trick done by performers for entertainment, and is not often looked at
as a legitimate treatment. There are multiple cases of hypnosisbeing used as a treatment for
physical and psychological problems. Many of these cases have had successful results. The
perception of hypnosis and its role in society are the focuses of this essay. First, I will explain
how hypnosis is done. Then I will explore its different uses in the medical world. Finally I will
go over real cases where hypnotherapy was used. Hypnosis is more than a party trick, and has
many uses in our society. Hypnosis is seen by the general public as a type of mind control. A
common misconception about hypnosis is that you can be forced to do something you would not
normally do. In reality, the subject has to allow themselves to be hypnotized or it will not work. It
is vital the subject of hypnotism approach it with an open mind. Around 90% of the human
population is able to be brought into a hypnotic state. (Brown,1986, p. 3) . Hypnosis is a
characterized state which allows for higher focused attention, heightened suggestibility and vivid
fantasies.(Wagner). John Kihlstrom, the professor department of Psychology at the University of

Herskovitz Short Story
Eleven million people were killed during the Holocaust. To put that in perspective, imagine
waking up and all the people in New York and Chicago combined were killed. That is how many
people had lost their lives because of what they believed in and how they looked. Racism, hatred,
and bigotry toward the Jewish, gypsy, and others caused a genocide of innocent people. The ones
who survived were left with a memory of fear and maltreatment. Very few are able to talk about
what happened to this day.
Michael Herskovitz is a man who lived through the Holocaust to tell his story. Born in Botfalva,
Czechoslovakia in 1929, he grew up with 2 brothers and 2 sisters and raised by his mother and
father. Their family owned a small store and lived in the town as one of two Jewish families.
Herskovitz was told he wasn t allowed to go to school anymore and soon after German soldiers
caused his family business to close down. Not to long after, Herskovitz and his family were told
to leave his home and were transported to a ghetto named Uzhhorod. They were transported
from the ghetto to a concentration camp soon later. They were placed at Auschwitz. Here,
Herskovitz was separated from his family. His little brother and mother had been placed in a line
for those who were incapable of work, his sisters were put in the line for girls and women, his
father went in the line for adults, and Herskovitz went in the line for teenagers. Herskovitz and his
father walked side by side while they were

Should People Be Allowed To Keep Pitbulls As Pets Essay
Dogs are friendly, loyal house pets. They are intelligent, so they can provide services to people,
such as working with police officers at airports searching bags for bombs and illegal drugs. Dogs
work as guards protecting families and their most valuable belongings. Many disabled people
live with trained dogs. These animals are versatile, intelligent and loyal. By far, dogs are more
superior pets than any other pet. People should be allowed to keep pit bulls as pets because there
is a lot of misunderstood information that people do not know about, and they are not aggressive,
and they are an excellent dog/ pet. Many people have wrong information about pit bulls. After
adopting a pit bullherself, Dickey was shocked to witness the negative responses her pet evoked
(Kirkus). These dogs are very smart, and most everybody does not realize that. They are very
easy to train and learn things quickly. Back in the day, pit bulls were used to help hunters hunt
and kill bears. They are very affectionate towards their owners. They like to remind you regularly
of how they feel towards and that means a lot of kisses and tail wagging.
Unless you raise them to fight, pit bulls are kind to the people they are comfortable around. They
are usually seen as killer fighting dogs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My name is John Hopkins, and I was an American soldier, who helped during the attack on Pearl

This thought left me feeling a sense of unsafety and uncomfort in my own home. It was now the
sunday morning of December 7, 1941, where many military personnel had a time of leisure.
Many of them either were still sleeping, in halls eating breakfast, or getting ready for church. I
who had been in the mess hall having breakfast sat with a group of men, enjoying a warm bowl
of oatmeal and coffee. As I took a sip of coffee I felt all my muscles awaken and gain strength
ready for what this day would bring me. It was just another day of work, or that is what we all
thought. The hall was full of cheerful men laughing, talking, and eating. All of a sudden we heard
the sounds of planes racing through the thick air, and the crowd of people grew silent. I looked
around as everyones faces grew with fear and confusion, as they ran outside to see what was going
on.
I looked into the sky and around 183 aircrafts flew through the air. Everyone looked around at each
other confused to whether this was a drill or an actual attack. Then Admiral Kimmel ran out of his
tent and announced to the U.S Naval Fleet that this was not a drill, but a raid. The Japanese
commander Mitsuo Fuchida, who was the leader of the attack then called out, Tora! Tora! Tora!

Stereotypes Exposed On Skin Color
Stereotypes have existed since humans first began to roam the planet. Early Australopithecus, the
first humans, most likely used stereotypes when deciding their daily task. Stereotypes such as
everything are dangerous and want to kill them. Later as Homo sapiens created cities and
civilianization s stereotypes helped evaluate an incoming threat so they could close the city and
gather a defense to save not only themselves but everything they worked hard to create from those
who would kill them and take the city from them. But modern humans ability to perceive threats
have been clouded by stereotypes base on skin color; to a point where anyone who is different is
a threat who needs to be eliminated. A proactive human whose flight or fight response is to fight
will sometimes attack this perceived threat without any other information aside from the
stereotype. These attacks can sometimes lead to the arrest or death of the threat who, in most
cases, was an innocent in the wrong place at the wrong time. So while stereotypes where
essential to survival in early cultures, modern use of stereotypes have turned to the extremes
clouded by hatred of those who are different. In equatorial Africa a small species of human,
Australopithecus, roamed the savannah. In order to survive they small bipedal species most
likely based its day to day decisions such as what food to gather, and where to sleep, based on the
movement and location of larger predators such as lions. They used the

Franklin Delano Roosevelt And The Great Depression
The Great Depression was a time in history that our country was brought to the edge of financial
and emotional despair. There were many events that led to the great Depression, what were at the
important factors that brought the Depression to an end? A man by the name of Franklin Delano
Roosevelt was pivotal in bringing the nation a mindset of hope, his New Dealbrought about change
and the beginning of World War II all contributed to ending the Great Depression.
The collapse of the Stock Market in October 1929 began when 16,410,030 shares of stock were
sold off in a single day and the market lost $14 billion in value, nearly five times more than the
annual budget of the United States, capping off a week in which the market lost 39.6% of its value
between October 24th and October 29th. Many economists simply considered this part of the
normal business cycle and believed that intervening to stop or reverse it would cause even greater
problems. By July 8, 1932, when the market finally hit its bottom, it had lost a stunning 89% of its
pre crash October 23, 1929 value. ( )
Roosevelt is revered as one of the greatest men of the 20th century much because of his desire and
dedication to pulling the nation out of depression. Roosevelt won 42 of the 48 states and became
President in March 1933. In his inaugural address, Roosevelt stated the now famous line, The only
thing we have to fear is fear itself he went on to say that this fear was, nameless, unreasoning,

Similarities And Differences Between The Schools Of...
Buddhism is a missionary religion that begins in ancient India and spreads to eastern and south
eastern regions of Asia. After the death of Siddhartha Gautama, since the teachings were done and
passed around orally, there was no official record of the Buddha s teaching. Hence, this led to
collisions of principles and resulted in various divisions of Buddhism. However, there are two
dominant divisions of Buddhism that still exist until today: Theravadaand Mahayana. While
Theravada strand, which is also known as the southern school of Buddhism, expands toward the
south eastern region of Asia such as Sri Lanka, Thailand, Laos... The Mahayana strand, which is
also known as the northern school of Buddhism, spreads across the eastern region of Asia such as
China, Vietnam, Japan... Thus, in this essay, I focus and discuss the similarities and differences
between the schools of Theravada and Mahayana.
Despite being two different schools of Buddhism, both Theravada and Mahayana strands were once
a single entity. Therefore, they do have some overlapping principles, which are the core values of
Buddhism. First of all, both strands uphold the Triratna, which is also regarded as the three jewels
or refuges of Buddhism : buddha, dharma and sangha. Buddha refers to the fully enlightened one.
Dharma refers to the teachings of the Buddha. Sangha is the monastic order of Buddhism.
Secondly, Buddhists from both schools listen and uphold the Four Noble Truths, the Eightfold Path,

Perry feels that if Americans realize the way that women immigrants are viewed then maybe people
will think before they judge. These articles show that a lot of times Americans look at immigrants
and judge them on stereotypes. These authors show that immigrants should not be judged because
they have a different background form American citizens. Secondly, Immigrants that contribute to
the American society often pay taxes and learn to speak the English language often work but are
not treated equally as Native Americans are. Chavez talks about how there is a big difference in
the amount of male immigrants are in the work force compared to the amount of US males in the

This incident has had great significance to this day because it highlights the inhumane working
conditions. The Triangle Fire tragically illustrated that fire inspections and precautions were
woefully inadequate at the time. Outraged cries calling for action to improve the unsafe
conditions in workshops could be heard from every quarter, from the mainstream conservative to
the progressive and union press. The role that strong unions could have in helping prevent such

Why Does A Movie Flop
Films are both considered an art and a form of entertainment. To make such great films, you need
an amazing director, wonderful cast and crew, and one hell of a budget. But then again if a movie
has all of these then why do some films tend to just not make it into the box office charts. Why
does a movie flopanyways? There are a lot of films that unfortunately just didn t make it and we
will be stating a few examples of them in just a few but let me just enlighten you as to why these
films tend to flop. One of the things that has to be considered is its competition.
If your film is directed by an Academy Award director with an Academy Award winning cast, but
the movie you are competing with did a great job at advertising their film especially on the social
media, your film might not make it. There are a lot of great films (technically) that flopped not
because it is an awful film but because the people just don t find it interesting enough. So here are
some films that didn t quite make it into the box office charts, some might surprise you.

Armie Hammer and Helena Bonham Cart, stars in this western action film. According to critics,
it didn t quite make because it was way too over budget and it was completely unnecessary. It
wouldn t be considered a flop if the budget is less than $375 million because that just meant that
they need to make more than $600 million to be considered profitable for the studio. But
unfortunately, the film only made $260.5 million, which still a lot for a film but obviously Disney
didn t get enough money back, that is why it is considered as a

Comparing Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Person Centered Psychology
The counseling profession has a broad spectrum of possibilities when it comes to choosing which
psychological approach to take. The field of counseling takes many forms and offers many career
options, from school counseling to marriage and family therapy. As there are numerous styles in
existence, it is important to be aware of the many approaches available to take. For my research
two psychological approaches, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Person Centered Psychology,
will be critically analyzed and discussed in depth in order to compare the techniques as well as

The psychosexual stages of development played an important role in human development also.
Freud believed it was vital for every human to experience each stage fully; otherwise the
consequences of the missed stage(s) would manifest later in the life cycle a defense mechanism
called fixation. Fixation occurs when there is conflict at a certain stage in psychosexual development
. There are five psychosexual stages of development: oral, anal, phallic, latency, and genital. The
first psychosexual stage of development, the oral stage, begins in infancy and lasts throughout the
first year. During this stage, infants are performing oral exercises such as sucking and learning to
create noise with their mouths and will be expected to wean themselves from their mother s breasts
/bottles. If fixation occurs at this psychosexual stage, the individual is likely to have difficulty
forming healthy relationships, as well as regulating their optimism and pessimism.
The second stage, the anal stage, occurs from the first year to year and a half until age 3. The
child is learning the technique of controlling both their bladder and their bowels, as well as
learning toilet training. When fixation occurs in the anal stage, it is manifested in the individuals
personality. These anal fixated individuals are the anal retentive and anal expulsive population.

Military Generals And General Douglas Macarthur
In United States history, there is a long list of premiere military Generals and General Douglas
MacArthur was on top. Even as professors and historians scrutinize his failures, MacArthur has not
only preserved his reputation, but also maintained one. General Arthur MacArthur, Douglas father,
famously told him, there are times when a truly remarkable solider must resort to unorthodox
behavior, disobeying his superiors to gain the greater glory (American Caesar). Douglas took his
father s advice to heart and many times entrenched his prominence on disobeying direct orders.
However, by defying orders it made MacArthur a famous, but controversial figure. His defiance

Therefore, he gave the names of cadets who had already confessed or pleaded guilty and
declined to identify the names ordered of him. This demonstrated the insubordination of his
defiant nature which would later bring him up through the ranks and achieve fame. Weeks later
MacArthur would grab the attention again by defying the orders of a lieutenant, his math
teacher. MacArthur fell ill often, missing tests. Usually, students will go under a special
program called goats to receive special testing. Douglas made this list but his scores on the
regular tests were so high that he already had a passing grade and went to see the instructor.
There he threatened to resign from West Point stating, I know it is an order but it is an

MacArthur had a strong political and military background as his father received the Medal of
Honor on multiple occasions, also reaching the rank of General, and his grandfather acted as a
judge of the Supreme Court. Because of his families successful background MacArthur showed
much promise with his intellect and the instructor removed his name. MacArthur had a very

Type 1 Diabetes Personal Narrative
My life wouldn t be considered normal. My parents were immigrants from Pakistan trying to

The summer of 2004 is when I got diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, it was very shocking for my

Type 1 Diabetes really was, and even though i had it, it didn t slow me down, I focused on my
academics and when it affected me I addressed and fixed the problem and went back to work. I also
didn t let it slow down my physical activities either, I would be outside every single day as kid

We have carefully looked at our external and internal environments. The external analysis looked at
the market and the competition, while the internal analysis examined Callaway s performance, as
well as its customers. We also performed a SWOT analysis, enabling us to identify our strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. This analysis lends to the view that it is imperative that we
change our existing strategy and focus on other markets. It is not suggested that we ignore our
existing markets, but rather that we expand our customers and potential customers access to custom
club fitting. I firmly believe that by pursuing this avenue, and by implementing and controlling the
proposed fundamental marketing strategies and marketing mix strategies, we will be able to
achieve the stated objectives.

The styles of conflict assessment gauge my patterns of dealing with differing personalities and
agendas. The assessment shows that I lean toward an accommodation style. According to Bethel
University (2011), the accommodation style is high in cooperativeness and low on assertiveness.
The advantage of the accommodation style is the focus on the needs and concerns of other people.
When I disagree with someone, I try to see the world from his or her perspective. For example, I
tend to have a liberal view toward politics; however, I find that I reach conclusions on things the
same way conservative people reach conclusions, which is dictated by prior beliefs and personal
circumstances. In other words, I relate to their decisions even though I disagree. However, there are
disadvantages to the accommodative style. The accommodative style smooths over differences and
allows the conflict to remain. The primary contributor to the unresolved situation is the low amount
of assertiveness (Bethel University, 2011). The problem solving style assessment determines my
strength within the problem solving cycle. While problem solving involves experiences, reflection,
theories, and action, my dominate style is building theories (Bethel University, 2011). The theory
stage remains between reflection and taking action. The advantage of being able to create and
understand theories is determining what the facts mean in relation to the environment. For

A number of synthetic cannabinoids have been refined, produced and used in clinical drug trials
and have exhibited various levels of effectiveness, one of the more promising of these synthetic

For some time now neuropathic pain has been exceptionally hard to treat, and evidence suggests

Examples Of Social Hierarchy In Macbeth
In Macbeth, William Shakespeare expertly reflects the severity of the social hierarchy of the
Elizabethan era through challenging the social order. In this dark tragedy, the murder of King
Duncan upsets the social hierarchy. Macbeth, an honourable thane, commits the ultimate sin,
betraying the rightful king and usurping the throne of Scotland. This plunges Scotland into chaos,
even so that the universe is thrown off balance. In the Elizabethan era, it is prohibited for an
individual to attempt to move into another social rank. Some can be penalized to death. For
example in society, you would never see a civilian in the yeomanry class attempting to become
noble. Macbethoverthrowing the righteous king encourages civilians to move up this social ladder.
It also encourages rebellion and defiance, ultimately weakening the social hierarchy.
Furthermore, a king is expected to be fair, wise, and generous. Macbeth is supposed to be like King
Duncan, who thought of the common good. During Macbeth s reign, he acts upon greed, anger,
and selfishness. He is consumed by his ambition. On the other hand, we have Lady Macbeth. A
queen s responsibility was to produce a male heir and help soften the king s image. However, Lady
Macbeth was the total opposite. She had no heir and instead of softening the king s rigor, she
encouraged it. This contrast ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Apush Labor Union Dbq Essay
The 1800s is characterized with the rise of industrial America. As technological advances were
introduced to industry, unskilled labor also rose in accordance to the rise in factories. However,
this rise also introduced several labor unions such as the Knights of Labor, which organized a
series of protests and riots. The labor unions had good intentions, aiming to lower the average
work hours for workers, as well as increase their wages. However, their methods which involved

Despite being able to cause a small improvement in workers pay and hours, labor unions ultimately
died out by the 1900s due to their methods. Unable to truly focus on the plight of skilled workers,
most labor unions instead focused on that of unskilled workers, pushing aside the skilled workers.
(Doc D). The actions of labor unions ended up being counterproductive, forcing companies to wage
war against the labor unions. These stricter contracts such as that of Western Union Telegraph
Company, forced workers to affiliate themselves against labor unions. (Doc E) One important thing
to note is that the workers rights advocates were never able to coincide on one factor. As evidenced
in an illustration in 1887, labor unions had to compete with other movements such as socialism,
anarchism, and other labor unions. (Doc F). Because of this, the media, although recognizing the
labor union movement, began viewing the labor unions as dangerous entities. Although the initial
strikes such as the Wabash strike were successful, the ones that followed proved detrimental to the
movement, and caused the steady decline of the labor unions. Because some of the strikes were
dangerous, many strikes resulted in the deaths of those involved, such as the Homestead Crisis, and
Pinkerton (Doc G). Combined with events such as the Wildcat strike, Haymarket strike, the
Pullman Strike, the public began to associate a negative

dog one day, he saw a boy get beaten by a group of older boys. While walking towards him, Katz
asked if he was okay; the boy said yes and begun to swing like nothing happened. I believe that
what Jon Katz states is true, because the fact is; boys are always going to think they re the Alpha

Momentarily, they began swimming and Alex ignored the bump on his leg. Boys in my opinion
never want to show they are not up for a challenge. Every time my brother s friends come over,
they always began playing around and see who is the strongest out of all of them. Or from what I
see, they could also began to lift certain objects and see who can throw them the farthest.
Lastly, it s not all about the who can be the better rock climber or who is the strongest, but maybe
who can capture a girls heart first. I have seen this many times from boys who have lost friendships
over the same girl they liked, only because they both wanted to be with her. Sadly, only one gets
the girl. This is were things get really hectic, and boys sometimes become foes, instead of friends.
Boys often get very competitive if they both want the same girl, just like my brother did with his ex
best friend, Joey. Also they never want to admit they lost, sometimes they simply say they didn t try
hard enough.
In conclusion, yes, boys want to be that strong, fearless, awesome guy that they have been taught
mostly by, their parents or society. But just as Jon Katz says, they want love and understanding
when things do not go right for them. Which is very similar how girls are as well. Boys just tend
not to show it, because of the pride they have or what they have gone through in their childhood.
To sum it all up, boys are always going to be the same, but

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Clock Shadows And Dark...
Aristotelian mimesis dictates that the art produced by our culture and society is an imitation of our
reality. If so, then our contemporary entertainment era overstocked in brooding, morally ambiguous
anti heroes bearing five o clock shadows and dark and gritty narratives are a reflection of the
flawed and unrelenting modern day reality that we inhabit. This age of morally gray storytelling is
a stark contrast to the idealistic depictions of American society and traditional family values found
throughout various 1950s television (Museum of Broadcast Communications). The force behind
this shift from a rather jubilant, dreamlike state of Cold Warera media, to the grim and cynical state
of present day film, television, and music can thus be interpreted by some romanticists with a
longing for the good ol days as a decline of virtues and goodness in American society. However,
the goodness of America found in 1950s media was hardly a true reflection of reality. Through the
further development of mass media and communications in the following decades, however,
American audiences were then able to see passed the goodness from the shelter of their own homes
(Murray). The realities that went into the lenses of news cameras, and out the screens of black and
white television tubes exposed the horrors of war in Vietnam and the injustice towards nonviolent

household items, a wall, and a window cracked open. Naturally, we as the viewers do not
understand the point of this painting, as it seems to have a meaning behind it. Sheeler claims,
however, that he just painted it. He says, I wish that I could give you an interesting story in

Coming Of Age Of Girls In Fairytales
When Little Red Cap becomes Mrs. Red Cap: the coming of age of girls in fairytales From a
young age, girls around the world are told that their transition into womanhood will mark an
important chapter in their lives. It guides a young girl from innocence to experience and is
characterized through her attainment of self responsibility and her newly found maturity. This
milestone in a girls life is often explored through different adaptations during different time
periods of our history; for example, we often see the subject being explored in fairytales. In Jacob
and Wilhelm Grimm s fairytale Little Red Cap , Little Red Cap s attainment of womanhood is
symbolized through a noticeable change in her actions between the beginning and end... Show more

For one, when she listens to her mother, she no longer strays from the path and is able to get to
her grandmother s safely, consequently contrasting her initial behavior and marking a girl s
maturity for listening to her mother. In Little Red Cap , the mother had warned her daughter
before leaving to her grandmother s to not distract herself from staying on the path: Get an early
start, before it becomes hot, and when you re out in the woods, be nice and good and don t stray
from the path, otherwise you ll fall and break the glass, and your grandmother will get nothing
(101 102). Little Red Cap would have accomplished her mother s advice if she wasn t still a child
in the beginning of the story: So she ran off the path and plunged into the woods to look for
flowers. And each time she plucked one, she thought she saw another even prettier flower and ran
after it, going deeper and deeper into the forest. But the wolf went straight to the grandmother s
house and knocked at the door (103). The little girl being easily distracted by the beauty of flowers
and not connecting the dots of the wolf going after her grandmother demonstrates her incapability
of being an intelligent and grown woman, a telltale of her still being an immature child. However,
this changes near the end of the

The Career Leadership As A Foundation For One s Leadership
The Career Leadership Academy (CLA) undoubtedly provides practical, real world knowledge that
can be applied to an extensive range of circumstances. Implementing the lessons taught in the class
can enable students to successfully build and strengthen relationships in the classroom, on the job,
and with friends and family. Not one of the class s concepts is more important than another, which
pushes students to combine what they have learned to better themselves as individuals, leaders, and
team members. Perhaps the most important fact is that CLA s concepts can serve as a foundation
for one s leadershipphilosophy.
I.Understanding My Self CLA has played a significant role in shaping my leadership philosophy.

Many philosophies are established during our upbringings, and personal experiences. A family,
for instance, is like a team in many ways. We have to collaborate, encourage, and motivate one
another to strengthen our cohesiveness. The unbelievable bonds formed within a family are
naturally created during a process. As stated from Leadership and Professionalism, collaboration s
purpose is to create a shared vision and joint strategies to address concerns that go beyond the
purview of any particular party (Anderson and Bolt, 2013, p.36). I have found that my experiences
with CLA correlate with this idea. As time progressed, our groupbegan to understand each other,
and utilize our strengths to maximize efficiency. This is because we became more comfortable with
each other, learned how to constructively criticize one another, and developed a productive system.
My views on the process obviously go far beyond my experiences in this class, but the experiences
have undoubtedly reassured my philosophy. The Relational Leadership Model provides many ideas
that can guide one s philosophy about leadership, but there are many other concepts that can
equally contribute. At the beginning of the semester, we took the Clifton s Strength Assessment.
Knowing one s strengths can be very beneficial, especially in a group setting. In my signature
themes report, it noted that my five strengths are: futuristic, includer, communication,

immigrants have. Stanford University s website says Filipino immigrants are considered at risk of
hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes at midlife and old age, and other metabolic
problems. Liver cancer among Filipino males and females was second only to the Chinese and
three times higher than among whites. Geographic separation or alienation from family and
financial difficulties are found to be common stressors among clinically depressed Filipinos. Older
Filipino men committed suicide more than women, mimicking the trend for the general population
of older Americans. Compared to other Asian groups, the incidence of suicide is low among older...

What Is The Snapchat-Personal Narrative
When March 5th finally arrived we had a lot of preparations to tend to. We were pretty sure the
Mack s would leave at night, they told Alex they had a family birthday party to go to. Unlike
past Fight Nights no invitations were sent out, everyone was invited. We posted Alex s address
on all forms of social media that morning. I then went to Alex s in the middle of the afternoon to
help him set up for the night. We moved couches, and set up the basement for optimal viewing.
Now all we had to do was wait for the Macks to leave. We hung around the house for the rest of
the day but right around dinner time I left to make it less obvious and met Katie Peters and
Hannah Bouas at subway for dinner. Alex was going to call me whenever his parents left... Show

We expected that the only fight that night would be Chandler vs. Brendan, that was definitely
not the case. Before the main event there were six other fights. We had attracted a lot of the
seniors to Fight Night X and they were definitely down for fighting. These minor fights included,
Alex Mack vs. Zach Diecker, Luke Worley vs. Blake Metcalf, Max Kemper vs. Collin Goveia,
Michael Smith vs. Austin Sweet, Square vs Joe Wolf, Bryce Rutledge vs. Parker McDonald all
leading up to the main event. Will Hogan had been taking cash bets throughout the night and
Brendan was the heavy favorite. (Our event had turned from an underground fight club to an
underground fight club with illegal gambling) Brendan was the favorite due to his size and the
fact that he was getting shipped off to Army basic training in just a few months. But, he was a
wild card, like I stated earlier he was not part of our friend group so we had never seen him fight.
This was unlike Chandler who was a Fight Night veteran with a side of batshit crazy when it came
to wrestling. After a crowd pumping introduction from Joe Wolf the most historic fight in Fight

Journey Into Night By David Sedaris
The articles Journey Into Night written by David Sedaris and Why We Travel written by Pico
Iyer share the theme of finding true self during traveling . Pico Iyer believes that traveling helps
us find our truer identities. Sedaris s story is an example for the argument of Pico Iyer because it
demonstrates that people have a hidden part of selfishnessin their shadow, which is the unknown
side of personality. This hidden selfishness is a part of our true selves. The plot of the Sedaris s
story mainly focuses on the intolerance of one of the business elite passengers to another
passenger who is crying because of his mother s death. This plot bolsters Pico Iyers idea, which is

There are two main labels in the story, which are The Business Elite and The Crying Man .
Having labels during a journey emphasize that people are always in an inquiry with who they

The Relation Between Genetics And Physiology And Medicine
Thomas H. Morgan: The relation of genetics to physiology and medicine.
Genetics is the study of how hereditary characteristics or genes are inherited. The studies of
genetics have first been recognized by Gregor Mendel. Gregor Mendel studied how traits were
passed down from parent to offspring using pea plants. It was later discovered that Mendel s law
of inheritance not only worked for pea plants but also on, animals and humans. Mendel s
experiments gave rise to the importance of chromosomes in genetic experiments, crossing over,
and linkage. Thomas H. Morgan experimented on Drosophila melanogaster, fruit flies to give
further analysis of Mendel s two laws of inheritance. Morgan s work have been recognized for
discovery of sex linked genes and the importance of understanding genes for medical practice, in
which he discusses in his Nobel Prize lecture; The relation of genetics to physiology and medicine.
To first understand sex linked inheritance we must understand Gregor Mendel s two laws of
inheritance. Mendel s first law of inheritance or Law of Segregation, describes how each allele in
a pair separates and forms into different gamete or sex cells, during the uniting of these sex cells
(the sperm and the egg). The second law of inheritance or Law of independent assortment states
that, a pair of alleles segregate or separate independently from the other allele in the union of the
sex cells. An addition was added to Mendel s two inheritance laws. These

Moral Hazard And Ethical Hazard
1.Moral Hazard a.Moral hazard is the possibility for an individual to act in a different and
detrimental way when working on behalf of another person because they are not properly
monitored. Moral hazard can arise from asymmetric information, where one party has more
information about a transaction than the other party. For example, a worker is working on behalf
of their employer. If that employer does not properly monitor this employee, they may decide to
slack on their job, negatively impacting their productivity. The act of slacking is the moral hazard
in this situation. 2.Agent a.An agent is a person working on behalf of another person. Using the

needed repairs for the vehicle they are selling, but refrains from explaining this to a potential buyer.
When that buyer purchases the vehicle, they may find that the vehicle is a lemon or needs
extensive repairs, making the purchase an unfavorable one. 5.Signaling a.Signaling is the process
of an informed party divulging accurate private information (information they have) to an
uninformed second party, in an attempt to solve the issue of asymmetric information and in hopes
of reaching some sort of mutually beneficial arrangement (Conjecture Corporation, n.d.).
Advertising is an example of signaling: a company may have a well constructed product they wish
to sell to consumers. They use advertising to signal the value and reliability of the product.
Consumers see the advertising and decide to purchase the product. Here, the seller receives revenue
for the product and the consumer receives some sort of value from its purchase. 6.Screening

The Effects Of Fungal Diseases
diseases in addition to physiological disorder. However, fungal diseases, especially rust is
considered one of the major destructive diseases affecting the crop yield (Hagedron, 1984 and
Kraft, and Pfleger, 2001), especially in the north and middle parts of the Delta in Egypt and
several countries in the world (Abada et al., 1997; Gupta and Shayam, 1998 and Parilli et al., 2015).
The fungus Uromyces pisi is a heteroecious rust pathogen, completing its life cycle on two host
plant species. The sexual stages are completed on Euphorbia cyparissias (cypress spurge), while the
asexual lifecycle stages are completed on leguminous crop hosts such as Lathyrus, Orobus, Pisum
and Vicia spp. E. cyparissias is an erect, branching, rhizomatous ... Show more content on

The nectar contains fungal gametes (spermatia) that are transferred by nectar feeding insects
(including bees and ants) from one fungal mating type to another. Once fertilization has occurred,
aeciospores are released which infect leguminous host plants including field peas.
Managing plant diseases with fungicides sometimes gives good results. However, improper use of
fungicides leads mostly to environmental pollution, disasters throughout the world and the
phenomena of resistance to the causal pathogens (Brewer and Larkin, 2005). Therefore, to
overcome these difficulties, it is urgent to apply alternative safe efficient methods against such
disease or at least rationalization their application.
Biological control is considered an important approach of agricultural biotechnology in recent years
for controlling many fungal plant pathogens. Both Bacillus and Trichoderma spp. are the most
promising and effective bioagents against
various plant pathogenic fungi (Deshmukh et al., 2010; Barakat et al., 2014 and Ragab et al.,
2015). Trichoderma as antagonist is much more complex, that is nutrient competition,
hyperparasitism, antibiosis, space and cell wall degrading enzymes (Abd El Khair et al., 2010 and
Junid et al., 2013).
It was also found that there is a large variety of volatile secondary metabolites produced by
Trichoderma spp. such as ethylene, carbon dioxide, hydrogen cyanide, aldehydes and ketones which
play an important role in controlling many plant

The Catalonia And Spain Conflict
Catalonia, the Northeastern region of Spain, is engaged in a true and realistic conflict over gaining
sovereignty and independence from Spain. This conflict, which is rooted in Catalonian nationalism,
has been ongoing for years and has evolved significantly over time (Alexander, 2014). Since the
conquering of Cataloniamany centuries ago, the Catalonian people have worked resiliently to resist
the loss of their language and culture by struggling against assimilating to the common cultures,
laws, and language of its conqueror (Alexander, 2014). Throughout Spanish history, Catalonia has
employed different methods in achieving their goal of independence from Spain. The manifestation
of this conflict has taken the form of protests, laws, political parties, and certain acts of violence
which indicates the severity of it, the passion of its participants, and provides concrete evidence that
this conflict not only exists but is highly prevalent in Spanish history. The Catalonia and Spain
conflict has manifested itself in several different forms throughout the twentieth century. To begin
understanding the manifestation of the conflict, it is imperative to understand the scope in which
the conflict branches from. While it is apparent that the conflict is generally between Catalonia and
Spain, the scope in which this conflict reaches is spread within specific groups of the Catalonian
and Spanish population. According to Bolloten and Esenwein (2015) the scope of the Catalonia and

Mephastophilis Quotes
Mephastophilis is a great substance to Marlowe s play. With being a servant to Lucifer,
Mephastophilis enlists people willing to pledge their souls to the Devil. With Dr. Faustus,
Mephastophilis convinces Faustus to pledge his soul for years worth of necromantic magic. The
dynamic character he is, Mephastophilis is sympathetic towards Faustus, has the sophistication, and
provides Faustus with a clear image of Hell. Mephastophilis befriends Faustus and gains his trust,
this friendship gives Mephastophilis the guarantee that Faustus soul will end up in Hell.
Mephastophilis manipulates Faustus s feelings towards God.
In his first appearance, Mephastophilis reveals that he s forever a servant to Lucifer and must do
nothing without his master s permission. In scene three line 47 49, Mephastophilis states his
intentions about collecting souls for the devil. For when we hear one rack the name of God,
Abjure the scriptures, and his savior Christ, We fly in hope to get his glorious soul . All he wants

Effective Use of Technology by Terrorists Essay
The magnitude of terrorist activity in today s world is in large part due to the technological
tools available to everyone. Even though you may not believe so, by doing these acts of
terrorism, it can cause the market to change or even have a more clear effect on your life like the
death of a loved one, or one of your loved ones being injured. With all of that being said, there is
one important thing that helps them accomplish these goals. That one important thing is
technology. Technology all around the world is used for good and helps us accomplish tasks we

When it comes to technology, it is a two way street. Just as they can hack into us, we are able to
hack right back into them. While they may use it to their advantages, we are able to view into
everything they do as well. We are able to see what their plans are because they leave themselves
just as vulnerable as we do. These little opening that we are able to find may lead to the prevention
of attacks and it may lead to possible finding of where they are located at. The criminal
underground is highly innovative and often acts as an early adopter of emerging technologies. This
has been proven time and time again. With things like weapons, we ve seen terrorist adapt almost
instantly. They are ready for just about everything and the new technology we a producing is no
exception. With all the advances with robots, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology, the terrorists
take all these advances to their own advantage. Technology has made our world increasingly open
and has had mostly huge benefits for our society. But having this openness can lead to more than
just advancements. For example, in 2008 there was a group of terrorist who attacked Mumbai,
India. The perpetrators were armed with Ak 47s, explosives and hand grenades. Although you may

Aloe Vera was with Egyptians, Assyrians, Mediterranean civilizations and during Biblical times.
Ancient tablets dating from hundred of years ago contains records of the use of Aloe Vera as a

The plant is also described in book called the Greek Herbal of Dioscorides (NIH).

More than 75 active constituents have been identified in it portion, they include vitamins, minerals,
sugars, proteins, enzymes, and acids. The leaf exudate contains important laxatives like
anthraquinones and barbaloins which are accountable for its bitter taste. Barbaloin and other
products of the phenylpropanoid pathway are commonly referred to as polyphenolic compounds.
These are derived from the precursor phenolic acids, and they may act as antioxidants to inhibit
free radical. Aloe Veraalso contains products of the isoprenoid pathway, including carotenoids,
steroids, terpenes, and phytosterols Isoprenoids can be regarded as sensory molecules because they
contribute to the color and fragrance of the products in which they exist (NIH).
The molecules barbaloin and isobarbaloin undergo decomposition in the large intestine to form the
active metabolites aloe emodin 9 anthrone and aloe emodin which induce laxation through multiple
mechanisms. They prevent water from leaving the intestines so we end up having more water in
our stool. This makes our stool much softer, and that what makes it a good laxative. This why the
gel is used to relieve constipation.
As mentioned earlier, the gel can also be used for wound healing and inflammations. It contains a

Club is an environmental club that focuses on advocating for an healthy environment in the City of Euclid and surrounding areas. Green Creek was part of the Euclid Railroad. The railroad closed and the land was left abandoned. Eventually a paintball club took over the property and created an unorthodox paintball field. • 3. Most Influential Turning Points During The Second... Historical questions: В· SLIDE 1: Specifics of the historical topic or issue 1. WHO was involved? The two groups involved in this historical issue were factory workers and business owners. Business owners who had selfish ideals and didn t care about the safety of their employees because they were clouded by greed. 2. WHAT happened? During this time factory workers faced harsh working conditions and had low paying wages. They weren t given basic rights as workers and they were certainly not protected. The conditions they had to work in were horrible having due that there weren t any reliable emergency exits and they were exposed to unsafe, dangerous equipment. In many cases workers lost limbs or were seriously ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is when the US started overflowing with new urban cities, where factories were built. New technologies and machines were introduced during this time, which made the US the ideal trading partner. This drastic advancement led to overproduction but most importantly it caused the blood and tears of deprived factory workers. В· SLIDE 3: Causation 8. Why did it happen? I believe that this event happened because of the ideology, Laissez Fare. This ideology supported the privacy and liberty to all business owners. In other words the government was not actively involved in the way these owners ran their factories and they were most definitely not concerned with how factory workers were treated. Instead government officials ignored the problems within these factories and showed zero importance towards workers well being. There did not exist any laws or rules that limited business owners authorities of their factories. 9. How did the context/events of the time period lead to this event? The need for advancing and introducing mass production is what enabled such event to occur. Without this need, factories probably wouldn t have been created and business owners wouldn t have reasons to act ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Rhetorical Analysis Of John F. Kennedy s Inaugural... NOT PRIDE BUT FREEDOM: Rhetorical Analysis of John F. Kennedy s Inaugural Address Tanner A. Woody Anderson University On January 20, 1961, John Fitzgerald Kennedy delivered a speech with a backdrop of snow and a twenty degree wind blowing in his face in Washington D.C. In his speech, he starts off with saying that his victory is not for a party but it is for freedom. At the climax of his speech, JFK delivers a call to action which is also the most well known line from his speech: ...ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country. Following that extraordinary remark, he extends that call to the world by asking what they can all do together for the freedom of the world. Type, Purpose, and Audience This speech was not just a ceremonial speech, it also played the praise and blame game with Russia and also casted a vision for America and the role that it would play in the world. After the majority of the speech was finished, Kennedy stated that all this will not be finished in the first one hundred days. Nor will it be finished in the first one thousand days, nor in the life of this Administration, nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin, to see a world where peace is prominent (Line 21). Kennedy placed special emphasis on his role as the voice of a new generation, a group with exceptional values and qualities, confirming that this speech would set the pace and the tone for his Presidency ... • 6. Essay about Wilfred Owen Speech Ok what I have got here today is a detailed speech and I intend to explain two poems Disabled and Dolce et Decorum est. , both written by Wilfred Owen. I would choose these two poems to be in an anthology because I found the poems to be very dramatic and extremely detailed. Owen intends to shock us by demonstrating what a soldier might expect in a situation between life and death. He is not afraid to show his own feelings. Wilfred Owenis an anti war poet and expresses his ideas and feelings through various themes and poetic devices which I will be discussing throughout this speech. Wilfred Owens themes portray his attitude towards what war is and what might happen to an individual during warfare. The war strips the individuals of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Owen intends to shock us by presenting the reality he is feeling, this is why I had chosen this to be one of my poems Owen usesgraphic descriptions, speaking in a very direct and straightforward way, using words that convey ugliness and also shows the reality of war which clearly changes our thoughts of war in the end. Wilfred Owens captivating poem Disabled relates to the after effects of what war can be responsible for. The poem depicts an ironic contrast between a strong limbed, handsome youth hero in battle and a wrecked body in a wheelchair which occurs when a man becomes horribly wounded. His themes are clear that there is no glory in war and war strips men of their youth. Owen demonstrates how naive the minds of young boys were during the period of the war. Quotes such as Aye, that was it, to please the giddy jilts or Someone said he d look a god in kilts suggests that he joined the army to impress others and to maintain this popular image that he seemed to possess. Then the quotes Germans he scarcely thought of he had no fears and He thought of jewelled hilts for daggers in plaid socks of smart salutes further demonstrates that the young soldier clearly has no real view on what war ... Hypnosis As A Type Of Mind Control Hypnosis is defined as the induction of a state of trance where the individual is susceptible to supposedly involuntary changes in behavior and physical state by the power of suggestion. It is often seen by the public as a trick done by performers for entertainment, and is not often looked at as a legitimate treatment. There are multiple cases of hypnosisbeing used as a treatment for physical and psychological problems. Many of these cases have had successful results. The perception of hypnosis and its role in society are the focuses of this essay. First, I will explain how hypnosis is done. Then I will explore its different uses in the medical world. Finally I will go over real cases where hypnotherapy was used. Hypnosis is more than a party trick, and has many uses in our society. Hypnosis is seen by the general public as a type of mind control. • 9. Herskovitz Short Story Eleven million people were killed during the Holocaust. To put that in perspective, imagine waking up and all the people in New York and Chicago combined were killed. That is how many people had lost their lives because of what they believed in and how they looked. Racism, hatred, and bigotry toward the Jewish, gypsy, and others caused a genocide of innocent people. The ones who survived were left with a memory of fear and maltreatment. Very few are able to talk about what happened to this day. Michael Herskovitz is a man who lived through the Holocaust to tell his story. Born in Botfalva, Czechoslovakia in 1929, he grew up with 2 brothers and 2 sisters and raised by his mother and father. Their family owned a small store and lived in the town as one of two Jewish families. Herskovitz was told he wasn t allowed to go to school anymore and soon after German soldiers caused his family business to close down. Not to long after, Herskovitz and his family were told to leave his home and were transported to a ghetto named Uzhhorod. They were transported from the ghetto to a concentration camp soon later. They were placed at Auschwitz. Here, Herskovitz was separated from his family. His little brother and mother had been placed in a line for those who were incapable of work, his sisters were put in the line for girls and women, his father went in the line for adults, and Herskovitz went in the line for teenagers. • 10. Should People Be Allowed To Keep Pitbulls As Pets Essay Dogs are friendly, loyal house pets. They are intelligent, so they can provide services to people, such as working with police officers at airports searching bags for bombs and illegal drugs. Dogs work as guards protecting families and their most valuable belongings. Many disabled people live with trained dogs. These animals are versatile, intelligent and loyal. By far, dogs are more superior pets than any other pet. People should be allowed to keep pit bulls as pets because there is a lot of misunderstood information that people do not know about, and they are not aggressive, and they are an excellent dog/ pet. Many people have wrong information about pit bulls. After adopting a pit bullherself, Dickey was shocked to witness the negative responses her pet evoked (Kirkus). These dogs are very smart, and most everybody does not realize that. They are very easy to train and learn things quickly. Back in the day, pit bulls were used to help hunters hunt and kill bears. I will be taking on the perspective of a U.S military personnel, who experiences the attack first hand. Throughout my paper I will also show the reactions of the people who lived on the Naval Base, and how this attack affected America to this day. My name is John Hopkins, and I was an American soldier, who helped during the attack on Pearl Harbor. This thought left me feeling a sense of unsafety and uncomfort in my own home. It was now the sunday morning of December 7, 1941, where many military personnel had a time of leisure. Many of them either were still sleeping, in halls eating breakfast, or getting ready for church. I who had been in the mess hall having breakfast sat with a group of men, enjoying a warm bowl of oatmeal and coffee. As I took a sip of coffee I felt all my muscles awaken and gain strength ready for what this day would bring me. It was just another day of work, or that is what we all thought. The hall was full of cheerful men laughing, talking, and eating. All of a sudden we heard the sounds of planes racing through the thick air, and the crowd of people grew silent. I looked around as everyones faces grew with fear and confusion, as they ran outside to see what was going on. I looked into the sky and around 183 aircrafts flew through the air. Everyone looked around at each other confused to whether this was a drill or an actual attack. Then Admiral Kimmel ran out of his tent and announced to the U.S Naval Fleet that this was not a drill, but a raid. The Japanese commander Mitsuo Fuchida, who was the leader of the attack then called out, Tora! Tora! Tora! People ran in every direction in terror, as the Japanese aircrafts dropped the first ... • 12. Stereotypes Exposed On Skin Color Stereotypes have existed since humans first began to roam the planet. Early Australopithecus, the first humans, most likely used stereotypes when deciding their daily task. Stereotypes such as everything are dangerous and want to kill them. Later as Homo sapiens created cities and civilianization s stereotypes helped evaluate an incoming threat so they could close the city and gather a defense to save not only themselves but everything they worked hard to create from those who would kill them and take the city from them. But modern humans ability to perceive threats have been clouded by stereotypes base on skin color; to a point where anyone who is different is a threat who needs to be eliminated. A proactive human whose flight or fight response is to fight will sometimes attack this perceived threat without any other information aside from the stereotype. For some time now neuropathic pain has been exceptionally hard to treat, and evidence suggests that the continuation of using ineffective opioids is irresponsible. • 35. Examples Of Social Hierarchy In Macbeth In Macbeth, William Shakespeare expertly reflects the severity of the social hierarchy of the Elizabethan era through challenging the social order. In this dark tragedy, the murder of King Duncan upsets the social hierarchy. Macbeth, an honourable thane, commits the ultimate sin, betraying the rightful king and usurping the throne of Scotland. This plunges Scotland into chaos, even so that the universe is thrown off balance. In the Elizabethan era, it is prohibited for an individual to attempt to move into another social rank. Some can be penalized to death. For example in society, you would never see a civilian in the yeomanry class attempting to become noble. Macbethoverthrowing the righteous king encourages civilians to move up this social ladder. It also encourages rebellion and defiance, ultimately weakening the social hierarchy. Furthermore, a king is expected to be fair, wise, and generous. Macbeth is supposed to be like King Duncan, who thought of the common good. During Macbeth s reign, he acts upon greed, anger, and selfishness. He is consumed by his ambition. On the other hand, we have Lady Macbeth. As technological advances were introduced to industry, unskilled labor also rose in accordance to the rise in factories. The labor unions had good intentions, aiming to lower the average work hours for workers, as well as increase their wages. Unable to truly focus on the plight of skilled workers, most labor unions instead focused on that of unskilled workers, pushing aside the skilled workers. (Doc D). The actions of labor unions ended up being counterproductive, forcing companies to wage war against the labor unions. These stricter contracts such as that of Western Union Telegraph Company, forced workers to affiliate themselves against labor unions. (Doc E) One important thing to note is that the workers rights advocates were never able to coincide on one factor. As evidenced in an illustration in 1887, labor unions had to compete with other movements such as socialism, anarchism, and other labor unions. (Doc F). Because of this, the media, although recognizing the labor union movement, began viewing the labor unions as dangerous entities. Although the initial strikes such as the Wabash strike were successful, the ones that followed proved detrimental to the movement, and caused the steady decline of the labor unions. Because some of the strikes were dangerous, many strikes resulted in the deaths of those involved, such as the Homestead Crisis, and Pinkerton (Doc G). Lastly, it s not all about the who can be the better rock climber or who is the strongest, but maybe who can capture a girls heart first. I have seen this many times from boys who have lost friendships over the same girl they liked, only because they both wanted to be with her. Sadly, only one gets the girl. This is were things get really hectic, and boys sometimes become foes, instead of friends. Boys often get very competitive if they both want the same girl, just like my brother did with his ex best friend, Joey. Also they never want to admit they lost, sometimes they simply say they didn t try hard enough. In conclusion, yes, boys want to be that strong, fearless, awesome guy that they have been taught mostly by, their parents or society. But just as Jon Katz says, they want love and understanding when things do not go right for them. Which is very similar how girls are as well. If so, then our contemporary entertainment era overstocked in brooding, morally ambiguous anti heroes bearing five o clock shadows and dark and gritty narratives are a reflection of the flawed and unrelenting modern day reality that we inhabit. This age of morally gray storytelling is a stark contrast to the idealistic depictions of American society and traditional family values found throughout various 1950s television (Museum of Broadcast Communications). The force behind this shift from a rather jubilant, dreamlike state of Cold Warera media, to the grim and cynical state of present day film, television, and music can thus be interpreted by some romanticists with a longing for the good ol days as a decline of virtues and goodness in American society. However, the goodness of America found in 1950s media was hardly a true reflection of reality. Through the further development of mass media and communications in the following decades, however, American audiences were then able to see passed the goodness from the shelter of their own homes (Murray). Genetics is the study of how hereditary characteristics or genes are inherited. The studies of genetics have first been recognized by Gregor Mendel. Gregor Mendel studied how traits were passed down from parent to offspring using pea plants. It was later discovered that Mendel s law of inheritance not only worked for pea plants but also on, animals and humans. Mendel s experiments gave rise to the importance of chromosomes in genetic experiments, crossing over, and linkage. Thomas H. Morgan experimented on Drosophila melanogaster, fruit flies to give further analysis of Mendel s two laws of inheritance. Morgan s work have been recognized for discovery of sex linked genes and the importance of understanding genes for medical practice, in which he discusses in his Nobel Prize lecture; The relation of genetics to physiology and medicine. To first understand sex linked inheritance we must understand Gregor Mendel s two laws of inheritance. Mendel s first law of inheritance or Law of Segregation, describes how each allele in a pair separates and forms into different gamete or sex cells, during the uniting of these sex cells (the sperm and the egg).
