3. RESEARCH
One of the strengths to my research of music videos was that I
analysed different scenes within the videos and broke down
different elements of it for example, I analysed the music video to
‘Lyla’ by oasis. Within my analysis I focused on key parts of the
video like how different camera angles were used to reflect the
genre of the music and how it emphasizes certain elements of the
actual video itself. Another strength to the research of my music
video was that I was able to see a wide range of videos and how
each one is different and then from seeing all these different
types I was able to take elements of potentially add them to my
final product. I would say a weakness to the research element of
music videos was that I didn’t actually watch any videos on how
the music videos were actually created and what different
techniques they used to get that certain music video looking that
way. Its all good looking at music videos and seeing what style
they are but feel I missed out by not seeing how they were
4. PLANNING
I would say the strengths to the planning was that I was able to
plan out things before they happened for example where I needed
to film I would look at locations on the internet at where looked
best to film for the style of my video and then I would find out how
to get there, whether I have to pay to get there or whether it was
private land etc. another strength to the planning aspect was that
anytime I had forgotten something that I had originally planned I
always went back to it and refreshed my memory. I would say a
weakness to my planning in the end was that it didn’t really help
much when it came to creating my final product which is a shame
because I put a lot of effort into planning it out but then some
things came around and I was able to go to the places I wanted and
film the things I needed for the music video. I think If I had any
chance to improve the planning I would make sure that I had a
backup plan so that if anything didn’t go to plan i had another idea
I could fall back on.
5. TIME MANAGEMENT
I think for the music video project I would say that I didn’t manage
my time that well. The reason for this is because some days I feel I
didn’t do much work and wasn’t that productive which resulted in
me falling behind on pieces of work so that when it came to the
actual creating of the music video instead of just focusing on the
production aspect I was still focusing on other PowerPoints and
bits of work that I had not completed. I would say if I had a little
bit of extra time could have massively improved my final product.
If I had the extra time I would have gone out and done some of the
filming I had originally planned and potentially even added more
to it to make it just the extra better.
6. TECHNICAL
QUALITIES –
EDITING/POST
I would say my final product could be
compared to music videos like the
music scene by blockhead, subways by
the avalanches and potentially elephant
by Tame impala. The reason I am
comparing my final product to videos
by these bands is because for my music
video I created a psychedelic kind of
video as I am very much into that kind
of music and style on a whole. I
wouldn’t say the video is identical to
these songs I listed but the animation is
on sort of a similar page. Apart from
these music videos I mentioned I'm not
sure able to list any other things that
are similar as my final music video
consist of all animated videos which
don’t really tell any sort of story but is
very much linked to the psychedelic
vibe and style.
7. AESTHETIC QUALITIES
I would say that my work looks very interesting to say the
least. Although there isn’t much stuff on there if any that was
filmed by me I think that it visually looks very interesting. The
reason I think it looks visually appealing is because of the
whole trippy/ psychedelic vibe, anyone who looks at visuals
which are deemed as trippy would ay they look visually
appealing so when I added them to my music video I was very
happy as I knew many people would think it looks cool and
funky. If I had any chance to improve the way the music video
turned out I would definitely add more like videos of people
and maybe add an animated effect to make it fit into the theme
of the song and the overall video.
8. AUDIENCE APPEAL
Overall I would say my final product has appealed to my target
audience. The target audience I would say is anyone who has a
love and passion for the genre of music that the video goes with
so for mine I did a song by pink Floyd called see Emily play so
really anyone who has a love for the rock genre and bands like
pink Floyd would definitely love this so I suppose my final product
in the end has definitely appealed to my audience
