2. Contingency Plan
Potential Problem Effect on Production Control/mitigation
Not being able to acquire
the right equipment for
the podcast.
This problem will have a large effect on
the production because I want the
equipment that is going to help create a
high quality piece of work and if I am
not able to get this equipment then It
will either delay the production or
decrease the outcome quality.
To help prevent this problem I will
make sure I either acquire the
equipment weeks before the
actual production starts or book
out the kit before anyone else so
that I have it first.
Having the specific guest not
being able to come and speak
with me.
If I am not able to get a person to come
and speak with me for my podcast then
this will have a huge effect on the
production as that is the major part of
the podcast. So if there is no guest then
in theory there will be no podcast.
This problem cant really be solved as
quickly as some of others as it is people we
are talking about and people can be very
busy at times, but to help attempt to
prevent this problem I will try and find
other people as a sort of backup so if one of
them cancels then I will be able to have
another guest
Time Management I wouldn’t say this is a major problem
but for me I have been known to hand
in stuff late or leave things till the last
minute so if this happens then it will
have an effect on production as I wont
have the same time as everyone else
which means less time to create the
podcast.
To control this I will do my best to hand
things in on time so that when it comes
to the production weeks I will be able to
maximise the time I have just to focus
on creating and recording the podcast.
3. Technical Problems
• Camera operation – I haven’t fully decided if I want to add visuals for the podcast
yet or if I just want it to be audio only. But If I do end up using a camera and
recording I need to make sure I know what I'm doing if things go wrong, so if
something does go wrong then I plan on asking one of my tutors for some help if it
is in college time or if it is outside of college hours then I would use the internet to
see if that has any answers.
• Interviewing – Before interviewing I will list a structure of questions to help get
answers about what I want to know and what other people want to know. So to
not make the interviewing a problem I will make sure I have questions to ask
beforehand so that I am not stuck when it comes to speaking.
• Audio use (microphones etc) – when it comes to setting up the podcast, the main
bit of equipment I will need will be microphones so that it picks up the audio
better and improves the overall quality, however if they decide not to work then I
plan to do some research before hand on how to operate this kind of equipment
so then if to does happen I will be ready to solve it as quick as possible.
4. Experiments plan
• There are things I most definitely need to learn before creating my project.
One of these things include learning how to use the audio equipment so
that I am able to get the best quality from the podcast, aswell as learning
to use the audio equipment I will also need to know how to take that and
put it into editing software. Another thing I think I need to work on to make
sure the production will happen is not really to do with research but more
about improving my time management for example making sure my
previous bits of work are handed in on time so that when it comes to the
weeks of production I can use all that time to focus on just working on the
podcast without worrying about bits of work that needed to be handed in
prior to it. Another thing I would say I need to learn is more about how
podcasts operate and look into how the top podcasts in the world use
different techniques to create such interesting podcasts.
6. Technical/ Practical problems
• To overcome certain problems like equipment not working and software issues
there are many ways to sort these problems out. One way would be to simply look
on the internet seen as though it is one of the biggest sources to get information
from about many different things so it is most likely to have information about
camera and microphone operation. Another solution to figuring out equipment
problems would be to simply ask one of my tutors as they specialise in working
with high end equipment similar to the ones I will be using. I'm not sure
equipment issues will have a major impact on the production as If anything does
happen I will have multiple options to find out how to fix it.
• Having the guest not being able to appear on the podcast would be very difficult in
terms of the production aspect as it is the biggest factor to make the podcast work
so without a guest that would be a very difficult problem to overcome, however
the guest is still able to make it to record the podcast so hopefully it can stay that
way. But if the worst did happen then I would need to find another guest very
similar so that the podcast wont just end up being a disaster.
