Haplogroup X History
The History of Haplogroup X Haplogroup X diverged from Haplogroup N more than 30,000 ybp
(Benson and Glad, 2006). Haplogroup N originated in Africa and can be traced back to over
70,000 years ago. There are traces of haplogroup N in Western Asia around 30000 B.C. The
atmosphere in Western Asia where haplogroup X originated from was desert like with grasslands,
deserts, and mountains. The summers were hot and dry which included a scorched climate with
periods of heavy rain. The living conditions were mostly dry with moderate temperatures with a
little amount of direct sun exposure which could account for the fair skin tone. The land the
inhabitants lived on was good for farming and had multiple water sources which gave rise to the
fish they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am not sure if it is haplogroup X, but I wanted to learn about a haplogroup that is present in
Native Americans. Haplogroup X2a is not found anywhere else in the world which I found
amazing only because it is hard to trace its path. I believe once a lot of people are able to afford
the ability to have their mtDNA tested it will be easier to evaluate X2a. I found it interesting that
not only is haplogroup X unique but it is found in high frequencies in the Great Lakes population
and low frequencies in the Plains and Pacific Northwest. This caught my eyes because I am from
Ohio which is a part of the Great Lakes region and it is where my grandmother was born as well
which could give the possibility that X2a is a part of my lineage (Raff and Bolnick, 2015). I think
it is amazing that haplogroup X has shown a correlation between protection against harmful
diseases and promotion of successful aging (Courtenay et al., 2011). I think this could be a reason
why the people that brought haplogroup X into the New World lived and prospered so well even in
the type of environmental conditions they endured before, during, and after the Ice Age. The fact
that they have protection from diseases allowed them to conquer any illnesses that they might have
come in contact with while traveling or mating. In Amish populations today, haplogroup X was not
only successful

Christian and Environmental Stewardship
Christians and Stewardship of Their Environment 1. Introduction Our earthly habitat is not an
unexpected occurrence of little worth, but rather, it is one to be highly valued and preserved. The
biblical doctrine of creation helps the Christian to understand the true significance of the world in
order to deal with the environmental crisis. The Biblesays, For thus saith the Lord that created the
heavens; God himself that formed the earthand made it; he hath established it, he created it not in
vain, he formed it to be inhabited... (King James Version, Isaiah 45:18). In Christian teaching, God
not only created Heavens and Earth, but expressed His delight in His creation. This creation meant,
everything encompassing the trees, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That means we do not have the right to do with the earth as we see fit. We cannot exploit the
land and suck it dry of all of its natural resources. To be a steward is to manage the property of
another; that means to care for it and use it properly, not exploit or abuse the resources of the
master. On the other hand, we are not to revere or worship the earth as God s creation to the
point where we fail to subdue it. God commands us to have dominion over the animal kingdom
and to subdue the earth (Genesis 1:28). Pro environmental groups like Deep Ecology believe
that humans have an obligation to themselves and the environment as well. They believe that all
forms of life have the right to exist, and that humans aren t any different from other species.
They basically say that humans are equal to other species. ( Stanford Encyclopedia of
Philosophy ). This is the sin that Saint Paul refers to: Because they exchanged the truth about
God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed
forever (King James Version, Romans 1:25). Just as it is a sin to ruthlessly exploit the earth and
its resources for greedy gain, so too is it a sin to revere the earth as an object of worship. We must
walkout a balance between worship and exploitation, and that is where the stewardship model
comes in. The stewardship model sees the earth as a blessed gift from God for the advancement and
nurturing of human

Action Research Literature Review
Executive Summary
Action Research believes that Human organizations can only be understood as whole entities
(Baskerville, 1999) and that social processes are best to be studied when change is introduced to
observe the effects of these. Furthermore, It makes use of a cyclical approach in order for an initial
holistic understanding of a social setting. The action research literature has strongly challenged the
character of positivism. It is believed that this type of research is derived from a different
ontological basis; it tends to a humanistic social practice rather than a traditional natural science.
Lewin started with the term В‘action research . His approach to the process is composed of a circle
of planning, action and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interpretivism beliefs that the world is socially constructed and subjective, that the observer is part
of the what is observed and that science is driven by human interest. Furthermore, interpretivism,
like action research, tries to understand what actually is happening by looking at the totality of each
situation.
Positivism is a research philosophy that involves working with the observable social reality. The
emphasis is on highly structured methodology to facilitate replication, and the end product can be
law like generalisations similar to those produced by the physical and natural scientists (Saunders,
2003). The basic beliefs are that the world can be seen as an external and objective object where
the observer remains independent. The action research literature has strongly challenged the
character of В‘positivist research (Waterman et al, 2001; Hart, 1996; Susman and Evered, 1978).
These can be summarised as follows:
В§The impossibility of achieving the assumption of objectivity in research findings and outcomes
as well as the ability to control a limited number of research variables.
В§A critique of the notion of researchers attaining a detached/value free/neutral position and a
recognition of the existence of oppressive ideologies and vested interests;
В§A questioning of a В‘scientific approach and the features of generalisability,

Argumentative Essay On Prejudice And Prejudice
Social conformity can be toxic, it often leads to the epidemic that is prejudice. To give a better idea
of what prejudice means, Judice translates to judge in Latin, therefore the term prejudice literally
translates into pre judgment . There are innumerable forms of negative preconceived notions that
exist in our world today, the biggest one being racism, which often is a stem of having anti
immigration views. Immigration prejudiceis not unknown to any person who lives in America and
has eyes and ears to know it exists, but it s important to know that prejudice is not innate, it is
learned, and as long as we allow our society to practice xenophobia among present and future
generations we will never be free of it. According to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prejudice doesn t discriminate, it lives in all runs of people: Whites, African Americans, Asians,
Hispanics, Republicans, Democrats, men, women, young, old you name it. In a perfect world this
level of hatred wouldn t be the norm, but it is. It is so widespread that there s tangible evidence that
shows even Hispanics (immigrant or not) have negative affiliations with immigrants. How can this
be when Hispanics take the cake for making up the largest portion of new comers. Interestingly
enough, research done by the Pew Research Center concludes that the more Hispanics have become
accustomed to nativism in American culture, the more likely they are to feel negatively toward the
matter. This sense of superiority is quite frankly sickening, to know that even counterparts of
immigrants could fall suspect of discrimination goes to show its daunting power. What s more, the
false notion that immigrants are purely responsible for the uprooting of crime, scarce resources,
drugs, disease, and more have been fed to natives by the media and those in powerful positions to
continue defacing the image of immigration as there s no solid evidence to justify being anti
foreign. As the descendant of an immigrant father and his father before him, I ve witnessed
firsthand the means and consequences of trying to enter this country and become a citizen. The

Then one day the winds blew away the tree and the mother caretaker fell into the endless ocean.
She landed on a giant sea turtle. Creatures of the ocean began to help her create the earth in

Compare The Relationship Between William Wordsworth And I...
From my reading of both the Grasmere Journals written by Dorothy Wordsworth and also the
poem I wandered lonely as a cloud written by William Wordsworth, I believe that there is a strong
relationship between the two. I think that both William and his sister Dorothy experienced the same
relationship with the Daffodil s they saw. The only difference is that William expressed his
experience through poetry while Dorothy expressed hers through diaryentries. From the evidence
we have with the dates of when both were written, I believe William wrote his poem based on
Dorothy s journals. I would be of the opinion that Dorothy s journals were written from her
experience alone while Williams s poem was written under the influence of Dorothy s Grasmere...

Much of Dorothy s diary entries include reflective moments in her life. As Sara Crangle said
[T]here is much of this solitary, reflective image that can be transposed to the larger depiction of
Wordsworth s life. Dorothy s journals are mostly written either at the beginning of the day or in
the evening. This time of day is when she is either reflecting on the day gone by or thinking
about the day ahead. As she is often out walking with William or Coleridge it is probable that
she is reflecting on these events quite a lot. On May 14th she writes I sate a long time upon a
stone at the margin of the lake, and after a flood of tears my heart was easier. Dorothy explains
how after she reflects she becomes happier. Reflection is a sense of relief for her. This sense of
relief shows how significant writing diary entries are for her. They are her escape where she can be

Jay Gatsby and the American Dream
Jay Gatsby and the American Dream The Great Gatsby is a very famous novel by F. Scott
Fitzgerald that goes back to the 1920 s. The book is narrated by a man who actually witnessed the
events and took part in these events, and his name is Nick Carraway. Through his narration, we
learn about a man whose real man is James Gatz, but he goes by the name Jay Gatsby. He
continuously calls people old sport. (Fitzgerald, 161) He lives in a mansion on West Egg near
where Nick lives. He was raised on a farm with a poor family in North Dakota. This makes us
wonder how he rose to having such fortune. Well he did do it illegally, as in this time period; it
was one way people made money if they could not do it any other way. As his life progressed, he
became interested in other women; we find out later that he really loved Daisy Buchanan for a
while. Daisy is a sweet beautiful young lady that Tom married when Jay was looking to get an
education. He would throw parties all the time to achieve one ultimate goal and that was to get
Daisy to fall in love with him, and achieving his version of the American Dream with Daisy is a
goal that Jay wanted to achieve but there were a couple of obstacles in the way. Gatsby s small
goal in order to achieve his ultimate goal was to become wealthy, and he did with bad intentions.
When Tom had already been married to Daisy, it increased the determination of Jay to get her. It
does not make a lot of sense, but this is what he wanted to do in order to

Shintoism In Princess Mononoke
Princess Mononoke was released in 1997, and became the highest grossing film in Japan until
Titanic came out later that year. It was meant to be director Hayao Miyazaki s last film before he
went into retirement, and is praised as one of his absolute masterpieces. Today, I will be critiquing
two articles that discuss aspects of Princess Mononokes themes and influences, one that relates
Shintoism to Miyazaki s narratives by Oscar Garza, and another that focuses on the icons found
throughout his filmography by Mohammad Amzad Hossain and Wei Hsin Fu.
First a quick summary: Princess Mononoke follows the last prince of the Emishi named
Ashitaka who, when defending his village from a demonic boar, is cursed to die. In order to lift
the curse, Ashitaka travels west and finds Iron Town, a mining settlement on the outskirts of a
divine forest. He meets their leader, Lady Eboshi, who is currently at war with the forest gods.
Disapproving of the violence that the town people partake in against the forest, Ashitaka seeks to
meet with the gods and their human daughter, San. The dwellers of the forest wish to kill all the
humans in an attempt to take back their home. Now Ashitaka must become a peace keeper and
stop an all out war, hoping that by doing so the Shishigami, also known as the Forest Spirit, will
lift the curse.

structuralism, the idea of relating aspects of cultural practices and their

The Success Of The Great Leap
In addition to hastiness, many projects failed because people lacked the skills necessary to
perform them. The Great Leap did not support educated people and therefore the projects were
often run by uneducated cadres, commune managers, and often failed (310) (72). People did
not know how to do the jobs that the government forced them to do (31) (311). They plowed so
deeply that the soiled had salt in it (311). The peasants were ordered to look for uranium and
petroleum in the countryside, not knowing the appearance of these resources nor the proper
way to find and collect them (31). People forced to make steel in their backyards often did not
know how it was done so that what they made was often unusable (31). Because so much of the
produce was worthless, the country found that they had pledged more exports than they had
(80). A policy in 1958 was Larger imports, larger exports (78) but in 1958 they owed large
amounts of money to Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and East Germany (80) and in 1959 they were
still having complaints from foreign countries about not delivering the promised exports (81). To
meet necessary exports, Mao decided that the country should cut down on meat and oil
consumption and export most of it (82). Because the government failed to properly plan the Great
Leap, they did not consider that there were skills necessary in performing various projects and that
their people did not have these skills, causing their projects to fail and their country to lose the

Essay On Low Flight Hours
Unmanned Aircraft Systems have taken the Army by storm. While most units fly on a regular
basis, easily meeting their hourly requirements, and becoming very proficient at these tasks.
There are several National Guard Units that continuously fail to meet these requirements. I think
that if every National Guard Unit was able to conduct flight operations where they held weekend
drills. You would see a drastic increase in annual hours flown, as well as overall proficiency and
retention of soldiers in these units. Throughout this paper I will discuss HOR (home of record)
unit s flight hour s vs non HOR unit s flight hours. Along with the other difficulties these units face.
I will also discuss the effects that low flight hours have on soldier s... Show more content on

It is my opinion that the above stated problems with the inability to fly, mission readiness, and
proficiency, in turn lead to a negative command relationship. A negative command relationship
could potentially lead to a lack of trust between leadership. As well as a tension, meaning
command may not believe that you are utilizing all of your Soldiers, therefore they need 4
Soldiers for a detail. However, based on the UAS MTOE, providing Soldiers for details is
practically impossible and could negatively affect flight operations. Having a positive command
relationship will exponentially increase a Units overall ability to operate successfully. Based on
the above mentioned difficulties associated with conducting flight operations while not having a
flight line at your duty station. I think it is fair to associate the inability to perform flight ops at a
Drill duty station with these National Guard Units failing to meet their requirements. Thus in turn
creating less proficient soldiers, which can ultimately lead to lack of desire to stay in the National
Guard. Soldiers enlist to perform a job, and without the ability to perform the desired job comes a
lack of interest in being a National

Transformational Leadership s Influence On Employee...
Ever since its conceptual introduction by Burns (1978), transformational leadership has been
applied by numerous leaders over the years. It was later on developed by various academics,
notably Bass (1985) with his presentation of the four pillars of transformational leadership the four I
s idealised influence/charisma, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualised
consideration. Observations have been made across these many studies about the transformational
leaderships influence on employee engagement and organisational performance. In this assignment,

Harter, Schmidt Hayes (2002, in Jones and Harter, 2005) and Maslach, Schaufeli and Leiter
(2001) believe that employees need to be involved, energetic and well organized when facing
difficulties in order to become engaged at work. This behaviour can be boosted by
transformational leaders who can intellectually stimulate their workers as well as display
individually considerate behaviour. Leaders who apply transformational leadership principles
tend to improve both the value and the significance of the work, and in turn will increase work
satisfaction from workers (Ghadi, Fernando and Caputi, 2010). Employees will feel more
motivated (Kahn, 1990), therefore they will be more likely to feel engaged in the workplace
(Schaufeli and Bakker, 2004; Macey and Schneider, 2008). Jack Welch s mantra consisted of
encouraging empowerment of managers and employees (Investopedia, 2016). Empowerment has an
intrinsic and an extrinsic role in the stimulation of engagement (Tuckey, Bakker and Dollard, 2012).
Moreover, engagement has shown to have a positive influence over organisational performance
(Markos and Sridevi, 2010).
Besides showing traits of a transformational leader, Welch undertook the managementof General
Electric with a somewhat ruthless toughness (Thompson, 2004:44 45) that was highly frowned
upon, and deemed to be far from an ideal model of leadership. The organisation s culture made

martensitic (or displacive) transformation (MT) and its reverse transformation to the parent
austenite phase; we define the characteristic transformation temperatures as follows; Ms: martensite

3.1 Explain How To Promote Children And Young People s...
As a practitioner, it is important you deal with unwanted behaviour in a calm manner. This is
because children and young people will copy what they see as their behaviour is affected by others
around them. For example, if the practitioner shouts at the child saying play nicely or say go to the
carpet for time out then the childwill copy this behaviour and tell other children off. If adults show
conflict then children and youngpeople will get frightened and confused. This can also lead for the
child to have unwanted behaviour. For example, if the parents be aggressive when dealing with
conflict then the child is going to feel scared and confused on what is going on. It is important that

However, Kounin s model believed that children and young people react to adults actions and
behaviour. It is important that adults consider their own behaviour and how it might impact the
children. If adults shout demands then the child is not in a calm and welcoming environment. This
can result in the child not able to work and reach full potential. Some actions that the adults have
shown towards children can have an impact on their self esteem and well being. This is because
the adults have abuse the power over children either by threatening or violence as they have lost
control. It can also have an effect on how the child behaves. For example, if the adult is being
violence towards children then the child might do this in the setting and hit other children. With
Ginnott s model he believes that adults should not argue, does not criticise and invite children to
take part in activities. As a practitioner, it is important you treat the children and young people with
respect as they will understand how they should be behave. If you are not consistent in promoting

Fossil Fuels Essay
Fossil Fuels: Oil, Coal and Gas Fossil fuels are essential to life on earth as we know it today. Our
world would certainly be much different if it weren t for such seemingly simple things such as
coal, oil, and natural gas. These basic elements of life on earth may not seem like a major
concern to some people until we put into perspective how they have shaped our world today.
Civilizations have been built, economies have risen and crumbled, and even wars have been
fought over these precious fossil fuels. However, these fossil fuels serve us in ways we may
never truly appreciate, as long as we use them as recklessly as we do now. The major entity about
fossil fuels is concerning their longevity and permanence in our world, and we all know, they will
be around forever.
The Origins of Our Fossil Fuels Coal, oil, and gas were all formed from the remains of decayed
and decomposing ancient animals and plants (Science Daily 2014). These fossil fuels we
produced far before the dinosaurs ever roamed the earth, during the Carboniferous Period
(Chapter 8 2012). This period of time, estimated around 360 286 million years ago, is believed to
be when the earth was covered mostly in trees, plants, and swamps, and the bodies of water
existing at the time were all filled with hundreds of millions of small plants called algae.
When the trees and plants that covered the earth at he time began to die, they fell into the seas and
descended to the ocean floors. On the ocean floors, fish and

The Characteristics Of Alexander Hamilton As A American Hero
America has long been considered a great, powerful country. From its beginning, the United States
had the potential to be something revolutionary. The idea of a democracy was, in the 1700 s,
strange. While many men are regarded as key elements in the birth of America, one man stands out,
despite his sometimes being overshadowed by fellow Founding Fathers. Alexander Hamiltonwas an
immigrant, soldier, and the first Secretary of the United StatesTreasury, among his other
contributions to America. He had dreams for his adopted country and was highly determined to
see them to fruition and create a new, remarkable nation. Alexander Hamilton embodies the
characteristics of an epic hero because he was a great warrior, he was capable of great deeds of
strength and courage, and he is a national hero. Alexander Hamilton is known as a great statesman,
but he also exhibited the epic hero trait of a great warrior. He volunteered to fight in the
Revolutionary War, then was promoted to lieutenant colonel and aide de camp under George
Washington. During his time as a secretary and aide de camp for Washington, he longed deeply for
military glory. Hamilton s traits as a great warrior are demonstrated in abundance throughout the
Revolutionary War:
He commanded his guns in the battles of Long Island, helped fortify Harlem Heights, and
employed two artillery pieces effectively at White Plains. He led his company throughout the New
Jersey campaign and saw action at Trenton and Princeton.

Materials
Management
INTRODUCTION
Putting in the simplest terms materials management is about moving the materials within an
organization. What do materials mean? Materials can basically be defined as those objects or
things that are to be moved in order to produce goods. Material is one of the 5M s that a manager
has at his command, the other being Men, Machine, Methods and Money. Materials could be in
the form of raw materials, paperwork, messages or information etc. So materials can be both
tangible and intangible. You see the newspaper boy delivering the newspaper to your doorstep
everyday or the milkman delivering the milk packets to you. These are tangible materials. There is
also some material moved when you watch a movie on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3) Inventory control: This function is responsible for the location and storage of materials so that
they remain available at the minimum cost and quickest time.
4) Store keeping: This function is responsible for the receipt and issue of the materials. The
materials are stored in such a way that minimum handling is required and wastage is minimal.
5) Material handling: This function aims at minimizing handling and provision of equipments for
handling materials. This function is crucial for minimizing space requirements, effective
distribution and for providing better working space.
6) Warehousing: This function is responsible for the storage facilities for the materials, weighing
facilities, materials handling equipments, material distribution facilities, fire fighting instruments
etc.
7) Standardization and simplification: This function selects items of great demand and sets the
standards for quality, raw material, sizes and performance of any product.
8) Organization appraisal of materials: This function helps in effective functioning by proving
smooth flow. It provides coordination and avoids delays and wastages
Management of materials embodies various costs. Since the ultimate aim of materials management
is to reduce the costs of materials and hence the final product, it is worth seeing what these costs
are. Let us take a glimpse of what these costs are:

Asc s Submarines
INTRODUCTION:
Australians role in the Asia Pacific region is an important economic growth in Australia. The
common trade began in 1989, and is creating a seamless regional economy. The purpose of trade is
to ultimately provide the state with a unique set of opportunities and creates a greater understanding
of employment and quality of living. Australia is known to provide the state with a set of
opportunities.
OVERVIEW OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA S ECONOMY
South Australia economic performance has vastly improved in recent decades. The Mining
Industry, is undoubtedly the most valuable resource that South Australia has. (Australian Mining.

The cons against the construction of the Australian Navy s of submarines is that Britain does
not want Submarines to be built in Australia. Building in Australia is not the most cost effective
thing. ASC has had a bad track record in the past. The Pros on why they should build the subs
are as the following. Submarines are important as they are protectors of trade routes and exports.
As brought up earlier, the construction of the Submarines could create about 3000 Jobs. Which
is good for South Australia. As it s facing its crisis in unemployment. Creating Job security.
Lastly, we truly don t know what japans capabilities are, so it is better to be safe. When
considering the nature of the cost over the agreement, of South Australia, it is one complicated
situation. $50 billion sounds extreme, especially when you consider just how much Australia is
in debt. To be more specific it s 300 Billion as of May 2012. This really begs the question as to if
we can afford the submarines. (Australia s Government Debt is expected to Rise to $573 Billion
over the next Decade Business Insider. 2015). Thus concluding the analysis of cost. Ultimately the
major benefit of this agreement is the potential of both protection in the Australian Market and the
possibility of the increased jobs coming from

Black Spiderman Music Video Analysis
Black Spiderman Music Video Analysis
It s fascinating to see all the various interpretations there are about movies, books, shows, ads,
and music videos. A humorous joke to someone might be the most offensive insult another person
has ever heard. For example, one might be watching a comedy show and suddenly a man is
telling a woman to shut up and make him a sandwich. The male audience will generally find it
hilarious. However, the viewers who just so happen to be women might not be so keen on the
sexist remark. It is crucial to recognize the messages behind the media we see and whether one
ought to be upholding them or not. In the music video for Black Spiderman; Logic has Damian
dress up as Spiderman which signifies: black people deserve better roles in the media such as
superheroes, it s important for black kids to have representation, and overall, it s refreshing to see a
whole new different perspective.
For starters, black people should be given more positive roles rather than always being portrayed
negatively by playing the typical: thug, gangster, rude, or violent character. For the most part, what
the public is shown on their screens stays engraved in their heads. This eventually projects in their
words and actions. Therefore, seeing black people frequently act out as problematic characters can
be harmful as to how society genuinely perceives African Americans in real life. It puts inaccurate
notions into people s minds which can unfortunately lead to racism. It s

Sethu Sethunarayanan
1. Explain in detail what theories and concepts you learned in class are helpful to understand the
case.
The case discusses an entrepreneur named Sethu Sethunarayanan, who invented and marketed an
innovative trap to help poor Irula people (an Indian tribe) catch rats more efficiently. He is the
founder of the Center for Development of Disadvantaged People (CDDP) one of a few recognized
non profit organizations in India. The case is an example how technological innovation and human
capital can be used to improve the life for the poor.
This rat trap entrepreneurship was a social entrepreneurship because the inventor used the resources
to cater to the needs of poor people. Prior to the innovation of the new trap, Irula villagers ... Show

Lastly, Sethu seemed to be the first one who addressed the problem in how Irula people catch rats,
so he had the first mover advantage. In addition, it was not likely that other social entrepreneurs
would come and compete with Sethu in the near future. Hence, the Irulas did not have other choices
but use Sethu s new traps if they wanted to change the way to catch rats.
3. What characteristics of the entrepreneur enabled their success?
Sethu had many characteristics of an ideal social entrepreneur. Among those characteristics, the
thing distinguishing him from others may be his concern for the community. Being inspired by
Mahatma Gandhi the Father of the Nation, Sethu always thought of ways to bring a better life for
the poor in India. This is probably the reason why he realized the problem of the old way of
catching rats of the Irulas and did not stop thinking of a solution.
In addition, Sethu obtained an appropriate education and experience in doing social
entrepreneurship. Sethu studied in Gandhi s school in India, where he was instructed to use Gandhi
s method to improve lives for the poor, solve human conflicts and introduce new ideas. After
graduation, he worked for an NGO to accumulate experience before establishing his own NGO in
1998. His education and experience were the foundation for his innovativeness, which contributed
to the invention of the rat trap.

Maintaining Agricultural Farmlands for the World s Growing...
As the world population continues to rise, there are growing concerns for maintaining agricultural
farmlands, especially in developing countries with drought and famine. This has also led to many
shortages of food, due to high demand because of the increasing population. Demographists worry
that if this growing issue continues to hurt foodconsumption of povertized countries, than there
will be more deaths because the population is increasing, but the food levels are staying the same,
or even decreasing. Some of these demographists believe that this is occurring, because the
developed countries are intaking too much food. Others believe that this is because of the
overpopulated countries, and the fact that they are in higher need for food because of their
population. Another problem that arises within this is deforestation. Deforestation is a part of this
growing problem because when massive woodlands are cut down, the lands become dry and
bodies of water in or around the land dry up, making crops unsuitable for crop growth and crop
rotation, leading to the lands to turn into non arable lands. This is also known as desertification.
This correlates with population growthbecause if lands become non arable, then crops won t grow
there, leading to starvation in developing countries with higher population needs and demands.
Although some people are taking action for the problems that this issue has given us, we re still
nowhere near solving the problem. This issue is very

The French And Indian War
Many wars were fought between the English and the French. The French and Indian War was an
important factor in the writing of the Declaration of Independence. The war was very costly for
the British. After the war ended the British thought of ways to gain money from the colonists to
help replenish funds lost from the war. This usually was in the form of taxes. The colonists were
not happy with the British government and made their feelings and opinions known. The
colonists wanted their freedom and independence from England. As time passed the colonists
began to show their rebellion towards the British. There were many acts that the British thought
would bring good news for the colonists but that proved to be far from the truth. Tensions were
high and emotions ran strong between the two. The Declaration of Independence was inevitable (
Declaration of Independence, ). The French and Indian War began in 1754 and lasted until 1763.
It was also known as the seven year war. This war was between England, with the help of the
colonies and the French, and some American Indians. This war was a continuation of a series of
wars between the French and British in North America. The British spent large amounts of money
on supplies and providing troops for the war. In the beginning of the war the French defeated the
British many times and did not change until in 1756, when William Pitt became the British
Secretary of State. The British began to send more supplies which led to the capture

mention food habits. I love the three ideas below because they are all ideas either incredibly
simple or completely out of left field. Aside from my second idea, the ideas I posted require no
new infrastructure changes or major changes in habit but the ideas are incredibly effective. All of
us can try to use all of the foodwe buy, or buy more chicken instead of beef. I posted the kangaroo

Most organizations, that maintain a sales force, believe in just two approaches to advancing the
sales skills of their sales team: The Minimalist Approach and the Process Approach. Few, if any,
ever consider the impact emotions have on sales success. Before we talk about he value of emotion
in the sales process, lets make sure we understand what is involved in the two, most popular, sales
training methods. A brief explanation of the Minimalist and the Process sales approach may
properly set the stage for a productive discussion about what is really needed to grow a World Class
sales team.
The Minimalist Approach
This approach may best be exemplified by a story about my own entry into the sales profession,
nearly half a century ago. I was 17 and getting ready for the summer between my Junior and
Senior year in High School. For the previous 4 summers I had worked in the local grain elevator

African American Womanhood
African American women, often perceived as a sexual object or the Jezebel (the stereotype of
white man view of the black woman as loose and over sexed) have struggled to eliminate images
that promote sexual exploitation such as their promiscuity (showing off their breast, behind, legs,
and showing much of their skin on television, music videos and magazines) through the use of
feminist movements and the creation of the womanist movement. However, in modern day
society, black women have accepted these sexual ideas which were once considered to be
dishonorable. The acceptance of this image, a direct cause of social construction and suppressed
oppression, has given rise to a disturbed vision of black womanhood for years to come. Despite this,

While both Black and White women are subject to sexualized images, the white woman defines
the standard of the socially acceptable view of what it is to be a woman. Not being able to fit into
that set of stereotypes, Black women consequently become deemed as the other within their own
gender. The stereotypes formed for African American women were even more significantly
derogatory than that of the image of the submissive house slave. This ideology of the 19th century
Eurocentric norm was to objectify these woman as sexually promiscuous. By exaggerating their
actions and portraying them into a negative perception, these portrayals were designed to oppress
these women and deem them inferior to their female counterpart. Decades later, these images still
have influence today in the perceptions of the Black women and their bodies. A great example of
this sexism and racism can be seen in today s criticism about female sports athletes such as the six

Count Orlok Nosferatu Expressionism
Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauen, is a german expressionist horror film that takes its roots

he is a monster and acts as such.
The film is simmilar to The Cabinet of Dr.Caligari. It is simmilar because the are expressionist
films, and not because they are soundless and in greyscale. The transition period after World War I

Blue symbolized the dark nights, where Count Orlok would spend most of his screen time active.
Red symbolized the bright days, in which there were an abundance of people moving around, and

well. Where the scenes using low key lighting implied great evil, such as the shadowy figure of the
Count in his castle as it became night. Scenes with high key lighting symbolized good, such as
when Ellen is baiting Orlok.
A reccuring type of camera shot was the low angel shot that Count Orlok framed in. It made his

The Greenhouse Effect And Global Warming
The greenhouse effect and global warming are issues that are talked about by geologists all the
time. The greenhouse effect is a natural process that keeps the earth at temperatures that are
livable. Energy from the sun warms the earth when its heat rays are absorbed by greenhouse
gasses and become trapped in the atmosphere. Some of the most common greenhouse gasses are
water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane. If there were no greenhouse gasses, very few rays
would be absorbed and the earthwould be extremely cold. When too many rays are absorbed, the
earth s atmosphere starts to warm, which leads to global warming. Global warming can lead to
many problems that affect the environment in which we live.
In order to talk about global ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Methane in the atmosphere is generated by biological activity related to rice cultivation, leaks
in domestic and industrial gas lines, and the digestive process of domestic livestock, especially
cattle. An environmental effect of global warming is the fact that higher temperatures will lead
to a change in the water cycle. Some places may experience more rain. Warmer temperatures will
cause a greater amount of evaporation from lakes, rivers, and oceans. In some areas this could
be good, and in others it could be considered bad. In northern regions of the United States, an
increase in the temperature and amount of rain could actually extend the growing season of
crops. This would in turn mean more money for farmers in the northern region. It could also hurt
some farmers. Too much rain is bad for some crops. Certain areas will actually get less rain, which
would lead to more droughts and have a negative impact on crops. Warm and wet weather is
usually a factor that promotes tropical storms. Global warming would lead to tropical storms
appearing with greater frequency. More rain will also force plant life to adjust. Forests and plant life
migrate naturally, but scientists say that global warming would cause them to migrate at a much
faster rate. If the climate changes the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says, some forest
species in North America will shift by as much as 300 miles to the north

International Strategy.
What is international strategy? An international strategy is a strategy through which the firm sells
its goods or services outside its domestic market (Hill 378). One of the primary reasons for
implementing an international strategy (as opposed to a strategy focused on the domestic market)
is that international markets yield potential new opportunities. Raymond Vernon captured the
classic rationale for international diversification (Vernon 191). He suggested that, typically, a firm
discovers an innovation in its home country market, especially in an advanced economy such as
that of the United States. Some demand for the product may then develop in other countries, and
exports are provided by domestic operations. Increased demand in... Show more content on

Expected returns from the investments represent a primary predictor of firms moving into
international markets. Still, firms from different countries have different expectations and use
different criteria to decide whether to invest in international markets. Economies of scale, scope,

particularly in their manufacturing operations. To the extent that a firm can standardize its products
across country borders and use the same or similar production facilities, thereby coordinating

knowledge sharing between units across country borders (Hill 384). This sharing generates synergy,

across international markets provides the firm with new learning opportunities. Multinational firms

Discuss the ways in which the government may use Fiscal policy to help the economy grow out of
a recession. Reference must be made to some policies that the current government has actually use
Fiscal policy involves the use of government spending, taxation and borrowing to affect the level
and growth of aggregate demand, output and jobs. Fiscal policy is also used to change the
pattern of spending on goods and services. It is also a means by which a redistribution of income
amp; wealth can be achieved. It is an instrument of intervention to correct for free market failures.
Changes in fiscal policy affect aggregate demand (AD) and aggregate supply (AS). In the UK, the

National insurance contributions are the closest example in the UK of a proportional tax, although
low income earners do not pay NICs below an income threshold. A regressive tax is the rate of tax
falls as incomes rise I.e. the average rate of tax is lower for people of higher incomes. In the UK,
regressive taxes come from excise duties of items of spending such as cigarettes and alcohol.
Indirect taxes forma larger percentage of the disposable income of those who earn less, even
though they may also spend less.
How the current government is using fiscal policy.
The current collation government are using fiscal policy to attempt to cut down borrowing and the
budget deficit from previous borrowing of the recent labour governments to be in power. The
Coalition Government wants to halve the budget deficit over a five year period, they have launched
a programme of fiscal austerity amounting to ВЈ126 billion a year of combined spending cuts and
tax rises. Most of the fiscal austerity is coming through planned reductions in the real level of
government spending. 80% will come from spending reductions, 20% is forecast to come from
higher taxes. The fiscal squeeze is highly controversial and has led to an impassioned debate
among economists about the best way to control a budget deficit as an economy struggles to lift
itself out of recession and sustain a recovery. Keynesian economists argue that deficit reduction
policies risk driving the economy into a second recession

Too Much Stress in Teens Lives
It is no question that adults have large amounts of stress as a result of jobs, money, family issues
and the economy. What is often overlooked is how much stress and anxiety teens experience. It
is common knowledge that teens worry about school, grades, and sports; but this does not even
begin to scratch the surface of the amount of stress teens go through. Teens today feel pressure
from the whole of society to conform and to be popular or in style. Teens are also expected to
plan for, and have their future mapped out; whether that involves pursuing a career or starting a
family, or even both. All of these stresses can lead to a number of serious physical and mental
issues including low self esteem, self harm, and even thoughts of suicide. The worst part about
teen stress is that teens do not know how to handle it. They cannot cope with their changing
responsibilities and this leads to role conflict and their inability to react to situations properly.
The best thing a teen can do is find a way to control, regulate, and reduce the stress in their lives.
In comparison, teens today experience higher levels of stress from academics and an abundance
of extra curricular activities which is only made worse by teen s ineptitude to cope with these
expectations. Adults do experience high levels of stress, that is undeniable. They have to go to
work every day, which can be a stressful environment, then they come home and face a whole new
plethora of stress inducing aspects. The work

Emergent technology. The National Education Technology Plan 2010, issued by the United States
Department of Education, asserted the lives of today s students are occupied with technology that
mobilizes 24 hour, 7 day a week access to information and resources, facilitates creation of sharable
multimedia, and permits participation in learning and collaborating with people worldwide. Student
opportunities are without limits and offer immediate feedback. Hence, technology integration has
profoundly altered the pedagogical practices of the classroom (Shieh, 2012). Given this challenge,
the U.S. Dept. of Education (2010) contended that there is a necessity to leverage progressive
technology in order to create engaging, relevant, and personalized learning experiences for all
learners that mirror students daily lives and the reality of their futures (p. x). Smith and Evans
(2010) explained how technology empowers students to pursue opportunities to learn on their own.
Students desire to interact and acquire knowledge from their own personalized network of experts,
utilizing modern communication and collaboration tools that are not bound by time and place.

Bookend Essay
For the first period, Technology and Environmental Transformations, the major event that acted as a
bookend was the development and interactions of early agricultural, pastoral, and urban societies.
This event enabled core and foundational civilizations to develop in many different places around
the world where they grew to be dependent on agriculture. The first states began to arise within
these established civilizations, and culture helped unify the state through many key aspects, like
law, language, literature, and art. For the second period, Organization and Reorganization of Human
Societies, the major event that acted as a bookend was the emergence of interregional networks of
communication and exchange. Land and water routes were established to facilitate... Show more

Innovations helped prompt agricultural and industrial productions in many regions during this
time, however, some regions were affected more negatively than others. There were times of
significant decline, as well as times of increased urbanization. Alongside this, there were changes
in labor management and religious conversion had an effect on the relationship of the genders in
society as well as family life. For the fourth period, Global Interactions, the major event that acted
as its bookend was state consolidation and imperial expansion. During this time, many rulers
strived to strengthen their power, so they resorted to using a variety of methods to accomplish that.
Also, the increase of gunpowder, cannons, and armed trade prompted imperial expansion. Large
empire were established in both hemispheres because of this. However, because there was

Analysis Of George A. Romero s Gory Film Land Of The Dead
George A. Romero s gory film Land of the Dead was released June 2005. Jonathan Levine s Warm
Bodies on the other hand has a scientific fiction undertone, and was released February 2013. Lately
pop culture has had an interest in zombies. Both films chosen have a set contemporary standard of
what a typical zombie is imagined to be. Whether created by supernatural sources or acquired by a
virus, zombies are dead humans that now have the reincarnated mindset of instinctively hunting
down and devouring the living. Those wounded by a zombie, become zombies themselves. Warm
Bodies leans more towards the romance and comedy rather than horror. Whilst remaining true to the
ideal zombie, the envelope is pushed with the unexpected direction that... Show more content on

This becomes particularly clear when we are introduced to the Bonies, who were once zombies
like R but lost their hope. When they lose their hope they peel away their own skin, the last
vestiges of their humanity, and will be unable to connect again. R even mentions how they will eat
anything with a beating heart, much like himself, but he feels conflicted about it. Bonies are
automatically set up as the antithesis of everything the movie stands for. They are the perfect
villains and foils for the corpses and humans. In Romero s Land of the Dead, zombies have taken
over the world and the loose ends of humanity live within the confines of a city that is bordered
on two sides by rivers and a manmade fence on the third side. Zombies are beginning to evolve
and slowly learning how to manipulate objects and their surroundings. The plots are a bit
predictable filled with pure terror and gore opposing Warm Bodies. While everybody else is
merely set on survival, Julie is still hoping for a cure, still considers it a possibility. Like R, she is
looking for something, and wants more. She is unique in her own crowd of zombies. The very next
scene parallels the survivors with the zombies. The group of survivors set out onto the streets
looking for what they need, and it intercuts with scenes of the zombies doing the same. They are
more alike than they are different. In seeing the connected hands, the

The Value Of The Balance Sheet
The main purpose of the balance sheet is to reflect and explain the accounting equation: Assets =
Liabilities + Owner s Equity. This equation is the fundamental model for recording and reporting
transactions. It is essentially useful for showing what the company owns, what the company owes,
and what does the owner s equity remains. The ordering of the assets and the liabilities help the
user to assess the liquidity of the company. For our purpose focusing on Walt Disney World, we are
primarily focused on their assets and liabilities. In analyzing the balance sheetof our company, we
will explain each aspects of the balance sheet in three separate parts.
To understand how the total assets changed within a year, we shall look at each aspects of the
assets. In the cash and cash equivalent, we have seen that the cash in hand decreased in 2013
from $3,931 to $3,421 in 2014. This shall shows that the company may have spent cash on
inventories and other goods for the benefit of the company. In the receivables aspect, the amount
of receivables has begun to increase from 2013 to 2014 with an increase rate of 11.6%. In other
terms, it increased from $6,967 in 2013 to $7,822 in 2014. This was an infinitesimal increase and
it shows that the company had a lot of companies owing them for the purchase of the Walt Disney
Products and land usage. Another way of saying is that other companies may be purchasing land
from Disney to sell their products and expand their companies to wider

Economic Justice Vs Distributive Justice Essay
An average American employee must work for an entire year before he or she earns what the
average American CEO earns in one day (Rezvani, Pirouz 6). The United States GINI coefficient,
a measure of income inequality, sits at 0.590 one of the highest marks in the entire developed
world (4). A majority of wealth sits in the hands of less than one percent of the country and those
lucky enough to fall under this percentage are catered to by politicians in search of reelection. That
said, it is easy for one to wonder whether the We the People mantra has been replaced with a mantra
of We the Corporations (10). Clearly, economic injustices transcend economic issues and affect
more than a citizen s bank account.

In the most general sense, distributive justice refers to justice in the allocation of resources while
commutative justice refers to justice in acts of exchange. Distributive economic justice requires
that every individual should have the moderate income needed for the basic necessities while
commutative economic justice requires that the price of commodities be set at an agreed upon
standard of equity (Macpherson 7). Minimum wage serves as a tool for distributive economic
justice as it ensures that citizens have the means for basic sustenance while the free market system
serves as a tool for commutative economic justice as its grants largely unrestricted access for both
consumers and producers. To date, most of the research regarding economic justice has supported
distributive theories because the main requirement for commutative economic justice, equality of
access, is limited by uncontrollable forces like geography, race, and gender, which can all prevent
access to economic systems (Armour

Necessary for an End Result
The Draft, Necessary for an End Result In recent years the government has been using the
Volunteer System for the military, but the Draft is a far better option because it will actually lead
to an end result in the war. When the United States decided to declare their freedom from Great
Britain in 1776 they had used a militia service for fighting the Revolutionary War. But, When the
United Statesofficially became their own recognized nation in 1783, they needed to start building
an official military. At that time they started using Conscription, or as it is more commonly known,
a drafting system. This drafting system was used in every single war since then up until the near
end of the Vietnam War in in 1973. With that in mind, the draft is something that should be
reimplemented because the United States has never lost a war that only used the draft, the draft
was effective at allowing the United States of America to win the war, and the All Volunteer
Service has not been able to bring about the same winning results as the draft had done.
To kick off, when the draft was started it was known as Conscription, otherwise known as a
mandatory enlistment into the United States military it was used when volunteer numbers did not
provide sufficient manpower. The draft was first implemented on a national level for the Union
during the Civil War after President Abraham Lincoln had misjudged the amount of volunteers that
he would need to defeat the Confederacy.

  • 2. Haplogroup X History The History of Haplogroup X Haplogroup X diverged from Haplogroup N more than 30,000 ybp (Benson and Glad, 2006). Haplogroup N originated in Africa and can be traced back to over 70,000 years ago. There are traces of haplogroup N in Western Asia around 30000 B.C. The atmosphere in Western Asia where haplogroup X originated from was desert like with grasslands, deserts, and mountains. The summers were hot and dry which included a scorched climate with periods of heavy rain. The living conditions were mostly dry with moderate temperatures with a little amount of direct sun exposure which could account for the fair skin tone. The land the inhabitants lived on was good for farming and had multiple water sources which gave rise to the fish they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I am not sure if it is haplogroup X, but I wanted to learn about a haplogroup that is present in Native Americans. Haplogroup X2a is not found anywhere else in the world which I found amazing only because it is hard to trace its path. I believe once a lot of people are able to afford the ability to have their mtDNA tested it will be easier to evaluate X2a. I found it interesting that not only is haplogroup X unique but it is found in high frequencies in the Great Lakes population and low frequencies in the Plains and Pacific Northwest. This caught my eyes because I am from Ohio which is a part of the Great Lakes region and it is where my grandmother was born as well which could give the possibility that X2a is a part of my lineage (Raff and Bolnick, 2015). I think it is amazing that haplogroup X has shown a correlation between protection against harmful diseases and promotion of successful aging (Courtenay et al., 2011). I think this could be a reason why the people that brought haplogroup X into the New World lived and prospered so well even in the type of environmental conditions they endured before, during, and after the Ice Age. The fact that they have protection from diseases allowed them to conquer any illnesses that they might have come in contact with while traveling or mating. In Amish populations today, haplogroup X was not only successful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Christian and Environmental Stewardship Christians and Stewardship of Their Environment 1. Introduction Our earthly habitat is not an unexpected occurrence of little worth, but rather, it is one to be highly valued and preserved. The biblical doctrine of creation helps the Christian to understand the true significance of the world in order to deal with the environmental crisis. The Biblesays, For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earthand made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited... (King James Version, Isaiah 45:18). In Christian teaching, God not only created Heavens and Earth, but expressed His delight in His creation. This creation meant, everything encompassing the trees, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That means we do not have the right to do with the earth as we see fit. We cannot exploit the land and suck it dry of all of its natural resources. To be a steward is to manage the property of another; that means to care for it and use it properly, not exploit or abuse the resources of the master. On the other hand, we are not to revere or worship the earth as God s creation to the point where we fail to subdue it. God commands us to have dominion over the animal kingdom and to subdue the earth (Genesis 1:28). Pro environmental groups like Deep Ecology believe that humans have an obligation to themselves and the environment as well. They believe that all forms of life have the right to exist, and that humans aren t any different from other species. They basically say that humans are equal to other species. ( Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy ). This is the sin that Saint Paul refers to: Because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever (King James Version, Romans 1:25). Just as it is a sin to ruthlessly exploit the earth and its resources for greedy gain, so too is it a sin to revere the earth as an object of worship. We must walkout a balance between worship and exploitation, and that is where the stewardship model comes in. The stewardship model sees the earth as a blessed gift from God for the advancement and nurturing of human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Action Research Literature Review Executive Summary Action Research believes that Human organizations can only be understood as whole entities (Baskerville, 1999) and that social processes are best to be studied when change is introduced to observe the effects of these. Furthermore, It makes use of a cyclical approach in order for an initial holistic understanding of a social setting. The action research literature has strongly challenged the character of positivism. It is believed that this type of research is derived from a different ontological basis; it tends to a humanistic social practice rather than a traditional natural science. Lewin started with the term В‘action research . His approach to the process is composed of a circle of planning, action and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Interpretivism beliefs that the world is socially constructed and subjective, that the observer is part of the what is observed and that science is driven by human interest. Furthermore, interpretivism, like action research, tries to understand what actually is happening by looking at the totality of each situation. Positivism is a research philosophy that involves working with the observable social reality. The emphasis is on highly structured methodology to facilitate replication, and the end product can be law like generalisations similar to those produced by the physical and natural scientists (Saunders, 2003). The basic beliefs are that the world can be seen as an external and objective object where the observer remains independent. The action research literature has strongly challenged the character of В‘positivist research (Waterman et al, 2001; Hart, 1996; Susman and Evered, 1978). These can be summarised as follows: В§The impossibility of achieving the assumption of objectivity in research findings and outcomes as well as the ability to control a limited number of research variables. В§A critique of the notion of researchers attaining a detached/value free/neutral position and a recognition of the existence of oppressive ideologies and vested interests; В§A questioning of a В‘scientific approach and the features of generalisability, ... • 6. Argumentative Essay On Prejudice And Prejudice Social conformity can be toxic, it often leads to the epidemic that is prejudice. To give a better idea of what prejudice means, Judice translates to judge in Latin, therefore the term prejudice literally translates into pre judgment . There are innumerable forms of negative preconceived notions that exist in our world today, the biggest one being racism, which often is a stem of having anti immigration views. Immigration prejudiceis not unknown to any person who lives in America and has eyes and ears to know it exists, but it s important to know that prejudice is not innate, it is learned, and as long as we allow our society to practice xenophobia among present and future generations we will never be free of it. Prejudice doesn t discriminate, it lives in all runs of people: Whites, African Americans, Asians, Hispanics, Republicans, Democrats, men, women, young, old you name it. In a perfect world this level of hatred wouldn t be the norm, but it is. It is so widespread that there s tangible evidence that shows even Hispanics (immigrant or not) have negative affiliations with immigrants. How can this be when Hispanics take the cake for making up the largest portion of new comers. Interestingly enough, research done by the Pew Research Center concludes that the more Hispanics have become accustomed to nativism in American culture, the more likely they are to feel negatively toward the matter. This sense of superiority is quite frankly sickening, to know that even counterparts of immigrants could fall suspect of discrimination goes to show its daunting power. What s more, the false notion that immigrants are purely responsible for the uprooting of crime, scarce resources, drugs, disease, and more have been fed to natives by the media and those in powerful positions to continue defacing the image of immigration as there s no solid evidence to justify being anti foreign. As the descendant of an immigrant father and his father before him, I ve witnessed firsthand the means and consequences of trying to enter this country and become a citizen. The ... • 10. Compare The Relationship Between William Wordsworth And I... From my reading of both the Grasmere Journals written by Dorothy Wordsworth and also the poem I wandered lonely as a cloud written by William Wordsworth, I believe that there is a strong relationship between the two. I think that both William and his sister Dorothy experienced the same relationship with the Daffodil s they saw. The only difference is that William expressed his experience through poetry while Dorothy expressed hers through diaryentries. From the evidence we have with the dates of when both were written, I believe William wrote his poem based on Dorothy s journals. I would be of the opinion that Dorothy s journals were written from her experience alone while Williams s poem was written under the influence of Dorothy s Grasmere... Dorothy s journals are mostly written either at the beginning of the day or in the evening. This time of day is when she is either reflecting on the day gone by or thinking about the day ahead. As she is often out walking with William or Coleridge it is probable that she is reflecting on these events quite a lot. On May 14th she writes I sate a long time upon a stone at the margin of the lake, and after a flood of tears my heart was easier. Dorothy explains how after she reflects she becomes happier. Reflection is a sense of relief for her. This sense of relief shows how significant writing diary entries are for her. They are her escape where she can be alone with her ... • 12. Jay Gatsby and the American Dream Jay Gatsby and the American Dream The Great Gatsby is a very famous novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald that goes back to the 1920 s. The book is narrated by a man who actually witnessed the events and took part in these events, and his name is Nick Carraway. Through his narration, we learn about a man whose real man is James Gatz, but he goes by the name Jay Gatsby. He continuously calls people old sport. (Fitzgerald, 161) He lives in a mansion on West Egg near where Nick lives. He was raised on a farm with a poor family in North Dakota. This makes us wonder how he rose to having such fortune. Well he did do it illegally, as in this time period; it was one way people made money if they could not do it any other way. As his life progressed, he became interested in other women; we find out later that he really loved Daisy Buchanan for a while. Daisy is a sweet beautiful young lady that Tom married when Jay was looking to get an education. He would throw parties all the time to achieve one ultimate goal and that was to get Daisy to fall in love with him, and achieving his version of the American Dream with Daisy is a goal that Jay wanted to achieve but there were a couple of obstacles in the way. Gatsby s small goal in order to achieve his ultimate goal was to become wealthy, and he did with bad intentions. It was meant to be director Hayao Miyazaki s last film before he went into retirement, and is praised as one of his absolute masterpieces. Today, I will be critiquing two articles that discuss aspects of Princess Mononokes themes and influences, one that relates Shintoism to Miyazaki s narratives by Oscar Garza, and another that focuses on the icons found throughout his filmography by Mohammad Amzad Hossain and Wei Hsin Fu. First a quick summary: Princess Mononoke follows the last prince of the Emishi named Ashitaka who, when defending his village from a demonic boar, is cursed to die. In order to lift the curse, Ashitaka travels west and finds Iron Town, a mining settlement on the outskirts of a divine forest. He meets their leader, Lady Eboshi, who is currently at war with the forest gods. Disapproving of the violence that the town people partake in against the forest, Ashitaka seeks to meet with the gods and their human daughter, San. The dwellers of the forest wish to kill all the humans in an attempt to take back their home. Now Ashitaka must become a peace keeper and stop an all out war, hoping that by doing so the Shishigami, also known as the Forest Spirit, will lift the curse. The Great Leap did not support educated people and therefore the projects were often run by uneducated cadres, commune managers, and often failed (310) (72). People did not know how to do the jobs that the government forced them to do (31) (311). They plowed so deeply that the soiled had salt in it (311). The peasants were ordered to look for uranium and petroleum in the countryside, not knowing the appearance of these resources nor the proper way to find and collect them (31). People forced to make steel in their backyards often did not know how it was done so that what they made was often unusable (31). Because so much of the produce was worthless, the country found that they had pledged more exports than they had (80). A policy in 1958 was Larger imports, larger exports (78) but in 1958 they owed large amounts of money to Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and East Germany (80) and in 1959 they were still having complaints from foreign countries about not delivering the promised exports (81). To meet necessary exports, Mao decided that the country should cut down on meat and oil consumption and export most of it (82). Because the government failed to properly plan the Great Leap, they did not consider that there were skills necessary in performing various projects and that their people did not have these skills, causing their projects to fail and their country to lose the ... • 15. Essay On Low Flight Hours Unmanned Aircraft Systems have taken the Army by storm. While most units fly on a regular basis, easily meeting their hourly requirements, and becoming very proficient at these tasks. There are several National Guard Units that continuously fail to meet these requirements. I think that if every National Guard Unit was able to conduct flight operations where they held weekend drills. You would see a drastic increase in annual hours flown, as well as overall proficiency and retention of soldiers in these units. Throughout this paper I will discuss HOR (home of record) unit s flight hour s vs non HOR unit s flight hours. Along with the other difficulties these units face. I will also discuss the effects that low flight hours have on soldier s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is my opinion that the above stated problems with the inability to fly, mission readiness, and proficiency, in turn lead to a negative command relationship. A negative command relationship could potentially lead to a lack of trust between leadership. As well as a tension, meaning command may not believe that you are utilizing all of your Soldiers, therefore they need 4 Soldiers for a detail. However, based on the UAS MTOE, providing Soldiers for details is practically impossible and could negatively affect flight operations. Having a positive command relationship will exponentially increase a Units overall ability to operate successfully. Based on the above mentioned difficulties associated with conducting flight operations while not having a flight line at your duty station. I think it is fair to associate the inability to perform flight ops at a Drill duty station with these National Guard Units failing to meet their requirements. Thus in turn creating less proficient soldiers, which can ultimately lead to lack of desire to stay in the National Guard. Soldiers enlist to perform a job, and without the ability to perform the desired job comes a lack of interest in being a National ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was later on developed by various academics, notably Bass (1985) with his presentation of the four pillars of transformational leadership the four I s idealised influence/charisma, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualised consideration. Observations have been made across these many studies about the transformational leaderships influence on employee engagement and organisational performance. Harter, Schmidt Hayes (2002, in Jones and Harter, 2005) and Maslach, Schaufeli and Leiter (2001) believe that employees need to be involved, energetic and well organized when facing difficulties in order to become engaged at work. This behaviour can be boosted by transformational leaders who can intellectually stimulate their workers as well as display individually considerate behaviour. Leaders who apply transformational leadership principles tend to improve both the value and the significance of the work, and in turn will increase work satisfaction from workers (Ghadi, Fernando and Caputi, 2010). Employees will feel more motivated (Kahn, 1990), therefore they will be more likely to feel engaged in the workplace (Schaufeli and Bakker, 2004; Macey and Schneider, 2008). Jack Welch s mantra consisted of encouraging empowerment of managers and employees (Investopedia, 2016). Empowerment has an intrinsic and an extrinsic role in the stimulation of engagement (Tuckey, Bakker and Dollard, 2012). Moreover, engagement has shown to have a positive influence over organisational performance (Markos and Sridevi, 2010). Besides showing traits of a transformational leader, Welch undertook the managementof General Electric with a somewhat ruthless toughness (Thompson, 2004:44 45) that was highly frowned upon, and deemed to be far from an ideal model of leadership. This is because children and young people will copy what they see as their behaviour is affected by others around them. For example, if the practitioner shouts at the child saying play nicely or say go to the carpet for time out then the childwill copy this behaviour and tell other children off. If adults show conflict then children and youngpeople will get frightened and confused. This can also lead for the child to have unwanted behaviour. Our world would certainly be much different if it weren t for such seemingly simple things such as coal, oil, and natural gas. These basic elements of life on earth may not seem like a major concern to some people until we put into perspective how they have shaped our world today. Civilizations have been built, economies have risen and crumbled, and even wars have been fought over these precious fossil fuels. However, these fossil fuels serve us in ways we may never truly appreciate, as long as we use them as recklessly as we do now. The major entity about fossil fuels is concerning their longevity and permanence in our world, and we all know, they will be around forever. The Origins of Our Fossil Fuels Coal, oil, and gas were all formed from the remains of decayed and decomposing ancient animals and plants (Science Daily 2014). These fossil fuels we produced far before the dinosaurs ever roamed the earth, during the Carboniferous Period (Chapter 8 2012). This period of time, estimated around 360 286 million years ago, is believed to be when the earth was covered mostly in trees, plants, and swamps, and the bodies of water existing at the time were all filled with hundreds of millions of small plants called algae. When the trees and plants that covered the earth at he time began to die, they fell into the seas and descended to the ocean floors. On the ocean floors, fish and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Alexander Hamiltonwas an immigrant, soldier, and the first Secretary of the United StatesTreasury, among his other contributions to America. He had dreams for his adopted country and was highly determined to see them to fruition and create a new, remarkable nation. Alexander Hamilton embodies the characteristics of an epic hero because he was a great warrior, he was capable of great deeds of strength and courage, and he is a national hero. Alexander Hamilton is known as a great statesman, but he also exhibited the epic hero trait of a great warrior. He volunteered to fight in the Revolutionary War, then was promoted to lieutenant colonel and aide de camp under George Washington. During his time as a secretary and aide de camp for Washington, he longed deeply for military glory. A humorous joke to someone might be the most offensive insult another person has ever heard. For example, one might be watching a comedy show and suddenly a man is telling a woman to shut up and make him a sandwich. The male audience will generally find it hilarious. However, the viewers who just so happen to be women might not be so keen on the sexist remark. It is crucial to recognize the messages behind the media we see and whether one ought to be upholding them or not. In the music video for Black Spiderman; Logic has Damian dress up as Spiderman which signifies: black people deserve better roles in the media such as superheroes, it s important for black kids to have representation, and overall, it s refreshing to see a whole new different perspective. For starters, black people should be given more positive roles rather than always being portrayed negatively by playing the typical: thug, gangster, rude, or violent character. For the most part, what the public is shown on their screens stays engraved in their heads. This eventually projects in their words and actions. Therefore, seeing black people frequently act out as problematic characters can be harmful as to how society genuinely perceives African Americans in real life. As the world population continues to rise, there are growing concerns for maintaining agricultural farmlands, especially in developing countries with drought and famine. This has also led to many shortages of food, due to high demand because of the increasing population. Demographists worry that if this growing issue continues to hurt foodconsumption of povertized countries, than there will be more deaths because the population is increasing, but the food levels are staying the same, or even decreasing. Some of these demographists believe that this is occurring, because the developed countries are intaking too much food. Others believe that this is because of the overpopulated countries, and the fact that they are in higher need for food because of their population. Another problem that arises within this is deforestation. Deforestation is a part of this growing problem because when massive woodlands are cut down, the lands become dry and bodies of water in or around the land dry up, making crops unsuitable for crop growth and crop rotation, leading to the lands to turn into non arable lands. This is also known as desertification. This correlates with population growthbecause if lands become non arable, then crops won t grow there, leading to starvation in developing countries with higher population needs and demands. The war was very costly for the British. After the war ended the British thought of ways to gain money from the colonists to help replenish funds lost from the war. This usually was in the form of taxes. The colonists were not happy with the British government and made their feelings and opinions known. The colonists wanted their freedom and independence from England. As time passed the colonists began to show their rebellion towards the British. While both Black and White women are subject to sexualized images, the white woman defines the standard of the socially acceptable view of what it is to be a woman. Not being able to fit into that set of stereotypes, Black women consequently become deemed as the other within their own gender. The stereotypes formed for African American women were even more significantly derogatory than that of the image of the submissive house slave. This ideology of the 19th century Eurocentric norm was to objectify these woman as sexually promiscuous. By exaggerating their actions and portraying them into a negative perception, these portrayals were designed to oppress these women and deem them inferior to their female counterpart. Decades later, these images still have influence today in the perceptions of the Black women and their bodies. The greenhouse effect is a natural process that keeps the earth at temperatures that are livable. Energy from the sun warms the earth when its heat rays are absorbed by greenhouse gasses and become trapped in the atmosphere. Some of the most common greenhouse gasses are water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane. If there were no greenhouse gasses, very few rays would be absorbed and the earthwould be extremely cold. An environmental effect of global warming is the fact that higher temperatures will lead to a change in the water cycle. Some places may experience more rain. Warmer temperatures will cause a greater amount of evaporation from lakes, rivers, and oceans. In some areas this could be good, and in others it could be considered bad. In northern regions of the United States, an increase in the temperature and amount of rain could actually extend the growing season of crops. This would in turn mean more money for farmers in the northern region. It could also hurt some farmers. Too much rain is bad for some crops. Certain areas will actually get less rain, which would lead to more droughts and have a negative impact on crops. Warm and wet weather is usually a factor that promotes tropical storms. Global warming would lead to tropical storms appearing with greater frequency. More rain will also force plant life to adjust. One of the primary reasons for implementing an international strategy (as opposed to a strategy focused on the domestic market) is that international markets yield potential new opportunities. Raymond Vernon captured the classic rationale for international diversification (Vernon 191). He suggested that, typically, a firm discovers an innovation in its home country market, especially in an advanced economy such as that of the United States. To the extent that a firm can standardize its products across country borders and use the same or similar production facilities, thereby coordinating critical resource functions, it is more likely to achieve optimal economies of scale (Mauri Phatak 234). Firms may be able to exploit core competencies in international markets through resource and knowledge sharing between units across country borders (Hill 384). This sharing generates synergy, which helps the firm produce higher quality goods or services at lower cost. In addition, working across international markets provides the firm with new learning opportunities. • 42. Too Much Stress in Teens Lives It is no question that adults have large amounts of stress as a result of jobs, money, family issues and the economy. What is often overlooked is how much stress and anxiety teens experience. It is common knowledge that teens worry about school, grades, and sports; but this does not even begin to scratch the surface of the amount of stress teens go through. Teens today feel pressure from the whole of society to conform and to be popular or in style. Teens are also expected to plan for, and have their future mapped out; whether that involves pursuing a career or starting a family, or even both. All of these stresses can lead to a number of serious physical and mental issues including low self esteem, self harm, and even thoughts of suicide. The worst part about teen stress is that teens do not know how to handle it. They cannot cope with their changing responsibilities and this leads to role conflict and their inability to react to situations properly. The best thing a teen can do is find a way to control, regulate, and reduce the stress in their lives. In comparison, teens today experience higher levels of stress from academics and an abundance of extra curricular activities which is only made worse by teen s ineptitude to cope with these expectations. Necessary for an End Result The Draft, Necessary for an End Result In recent years the government has been using the Volunteer System for the military, but the Draft is a far better option because it will actually lead to an end result in the war. When the United States decided to declare their freedom from Great Britain in 1776 they had used a militia service for fighting the Revolutionary War. But, When the United Statesofficially became their own recognized nation in 1783, they needed to start building an official military. At that time they started using Conscription, or as it is more commonly known, a drafting system. This drafting system was used in every single war since then up until the near end of the Vietnam War in in 1973. With that in mind, the draft is something that should be reimplemented because the United States has never lost a war that only used the draft, the draft was effective at allowing the United States of America to win the war, and the All Volunteer Service has not been able to bring about the same winning results as the draft had done. To kick off, when the draft was started it was known as Conscription, otherwise known as a mandatory enlistment into the United States military it was used when volunteer numbers did not provide sufficient manpower.
