Why Was Go Ask Alice Banned
Go Ask Alice Banned Book What is a banned book? A banned book is a book that has been removed
from the shelves because of its content. There are many reasons a book can be banned, a few of those
reasons are is it contains offensive language, promotion of a religious viewpoint, unsuited to an age
group, and many more. Lots of people and organizations have and still attempt to ban books. Some
organizations that have banned books are The Anti Defamation league, The Christian Voters League,
and The Central Intelligence Agency. The book I have chosen to read is Go Ask Alice. The book is in
the form of a journal that belonged to a girl named Alice. She got introduced to drugs when she drank
a soft drink laced with LSD during a party game.

Meaning Of Sacrament
The word sacrament comes from Latin word Sacramentum the Greek word mysterion is equivalent to
Sacramentum and it is used by Paul in Ephesians when he is speaking about marriage. This is a great
foreshadowing Mysterion; I mean that it refers to Christ and the church. In later usage, the term
Sacramentum emphasizes the visible sign of the hidden reality of salvation which was indicated by the
term Mysterium. In this case, Christ himself is the mystery of salvation For there is no other mystery
of God, except Christ Jesus. The synonymous of the word Sacramentum in the Bible is Mysterion,
Orthodox Church uses the word mystery to mean sacrament.
The saving work of Jesus and sanctifying humanity is the sacrament of salvation, is revealed and
active in the Church s sacraments and which Eastern Churches also call the holy mysteries. The seven
sacraments are the signs and instruments by which the Holy Spirit spreads the ... Show more content

A sacrament properly speaking is that which is ordained to signify our sanctification. In which three
things may be considered, the very cause of our sanctification, which is Christ s passion. The form of
our sanctification, which are grace and the virtues, and the ultimate end of our sanctification, which is
eternal life. And all these are signified by the sacraments. Consequently, a sacrament is a sign that is
both a reminder of the past that is the passion of Christ and an indication of that which is effected in us
by Christ s passion. That is grace and a prognostic that is a foretelling of future. St Augustine has a
different way of explaining the sacraments, for him the sacraments are visible words and relationship
with Christ and the Church when He identifies them as visible words to be received in faith.
Sacraments are visible signs of invisible reality. Sacraments both reveal and veil their inner

The Best Invention Of The Early Twentieth Century
America has had multiple inventions in its short lifespan, but one stands out above the rest. The
invention of the airplane in 1903 by Wilbur and Orville Wright was only the beginning of something
that would change the world forever. The airplane is still used today to travel around the world at a
much faster pace than a boat. While it has been used to mainly help people they are also used to hurt
people. The army uses planes to drop bombs, shoot down planes and threats on the ground, and to
survey an area. While these are just cases of military uses the airplane has also been used to do
horrible things such as the terrorist attack on the twin towers in New York on september eleventh
2001(9/11 attacks), The airplane was the best invention of the early twentieth century because it
created a means of travelling across the world with ease, created a new weapon to fight wars, and it
united America. Flying has always been an action that man has observed. The dream of flying is as old
as mankind itself ( History of the airplane ). For centuries humans have dreamed of flying through the
air, however they have never been able to. Many have tried but their design would always fail.
Ornithopter, machine designed to fly by the flapping of its wings in imitation of birds. The wooden
bird said to have been made about 400 bc by Archytas of Tarentum is one of the earliest examples.
The Greek myth of Daedalus and Icarus involves man s use of wings in the manner of birds. Leonardo

Describe Features Of Inclusive Teaching And Learning...
(1.1) Describe features of inclusive teaching and learning? An inclusive environment is an
environment where everyone has an opportunity to fully participate. In education, this means everyone
has the same opportunity, there should be no boundaries such as ethnicity, gender or disability. All
students should feel valued, be able to mix and participate with all members of the group be in a safe
and positive environment. Gravells (2014) states: You are not teaching your subject to a group of
learners who are all the same, but to a group of individuals with different experiences, abilities and
needs, which should be recognised and respected . I like to make all of my students feel important,
speaking to them directly, using eye contact, using their name, asking them direct questions. Initially I
carry out an assessment to test their prior knowledge, their preferred learning styles and to assess if
any additional support is required. I can then adjust the teaching level and pitch it correctly to each
individual. (1.2) Compare the strengths and limitations of teaching and learning approaches used in
own area of specialism in relation to meeting individual learner needs? According to Fleming (2001):
People can be grouped by different learning styles, visual, aural, read/write and kinaesthetic.
Understanding these learning techniques in my particular working environment is really important
because our creative education system has high demands in regard to them. I use visual

Essay on Female Chauvinist Pigs
In Female Chauvinist Pigs, Ariel Levy attempts to reconcile her personal views of feminism with its
portrayal in popular culture. In order to challenge what she sees as a co opted version of feminism,
Levy raises the question of authenticity of sex positive feminism (Levy, 63) on two levels: by selling
out in terms of the body and in terms of our patriarchal culture. In order to restore a binary
relationship between feminism and non feminism, Levy recasts this sex positive feminism as a new
form of (fe)male chauvinism. To do so, Levy turns to the experiences of several young women whom
she interviews. From her interpretations of these experiences, Levy reaches the conclusion that these
women s sexual nature revolves around their need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This binary relationship manifests itself in Levy s work in another way, as well. Toward the very end
of the book Levy claims she has no complaint against women who do gain genuine sexual pleasure
from their vaginas waxed, their breasts enlarged (Levy, 198). On one hand, Levy recognizes that
sexuality is personal and that everyone s own experiences and preferences are unique. Yet at the same
time, by drawing the line between authentic and fake , she must impersonally interpret these
experiences in order to classify them as problematic . This desire to judge yet not judge women s
sexual nature represents an underlying tension within the book that threatens to unravel her arguments.
Levy further asserts her binary comparison in a temporal manner by comparing the feminism of the
past with the feminism of the present, as she claims in recent years, the term feminism has fallen
further and further out of favour (Levy, 86). By framing her own views of feminism as those
belonging to an earlier point in the timeline, she privileges these views as original or authentic . Yet
this does not acknowledge that the anti porn wars of the 80 s was a point at which feminism branched
out, rather than transitioned from one set of beliefs to another. As a result, the cultural changes that she
observed occurred in the presence of both stances of feminism, making it difficult to distil the cause.
Levy privileges past over present in her suggestion

The Mortgage And Financial Collapse Of The United States...
The mortgage and financial collapse of the United States economy had a very devastating impact on
thousands upon thousands of Americans. I count myself as one who also had been affected as well. I
was a bank manager with more than twenty years of banking experience and had decided during the
spring of 1998 to move into a more lucrative career in the mortgage and real estate business. Having
started my banking career as a teller, I had built great relationships with my employers and customers
and was proud of what I had accomplished. However, upon hearing the news of yet another bank
merger, I decided that I would train as a mortgage processor with one of the best mortgage providers
in New Jersey. Advancements came very quickly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am not against creative financing to help individuals obtain the homes of their dreams. I was just not
happy about the way that sub prime mortgages were presented to customers who did not fully
understand what their particular mortgage note detailed. Therefore, the lessons that we have learned is
that a buyer needs to be fully informed on how the process actually works. I recall one former client
who was wiser than most, and she had decided that despite what the bank told her what she could
afford ($140K) , she searched for a home priced ($100K) so she could afford it on her own. Years
later, she told me about her husband s infidelity and sure enough he left their home within 14 months
and she was stuck with the payments. Nevertheless, she made her payments and even though she was
late several times, her resilience and determination paid off. She sold her house to a contractor for
more than doubled its worth because of the two lots that the house was on. She had a success story.
That is why it is very important to know what you are getting yourself into. I felt very sad when I
would witness the lack of understanding of newly arrived immigrants who could barely understand the
English language but there they were, trying to secure a mortgage loan. Full knowledge goes a long
way and that is one of the reasons that I would refer clients to take a class on mortgage lending with
one of the local realty agencies. Many of those

The Case Of Boxes, Llc, The Distribution Occurs 4
Transaction 1 Code Section 704(c)(1)(B) covers distributions of contributed property to another
partner. Under this code section, if contributed property is distributed within seven years of the
contribution date, the contributing partner must recognize some or all of the built in gain that was
deferred at the date of contribution. In the case of Boxes, LLC, the distribution occurs 4 years after the
contribution, so Bobby is subject to the recognition provisions. At the date of contribution, the land
has a $350,000 built in gain. Recognition of this gain is deferred and the partnership takes a carryover
basis of $250,000. When the land is distributed, the FMV of the land has increased to $870,000,
increasing the built in gain to $620,000 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the date of contribution, the partnership took a carryover holding period in the land that Bobby
contributed. As a result of the distribution, Larry will also take a carryover holding period of April
14th, 2003. The character of the gain recognized by Bobby is determined by how it was used by the
partnership. Capital gain property is not subject to the five year character provisions under Section
724. Assuming that Boxes held the land as a capital asset rather than inventory, the gain recognized by
Bobby would be capital in nature. Because Larry is not at least a 50% owner of the partnership, his
intentions for the land are irrelevant in this matter.
Transaction 2
In the event of the retirement of a partner with a disproportionate distribution, Code Section 751(b)
provides guidance. In order for Section 751(b) to apply, the partnership must have both Section 751
and non section 751 property. Section 751 assets include unrealized receivables and substantially
appreciated inventory. Because the inventory has not appreciated by 120%, of its adjusted basis, the
only Section 751 property that Boxes of Books has is its receivables. Because Bobby s distribution of
$845,000 exceeds his 35% share of $840,000, he will recognize a guaranteed payment of $5,000 under
Section 736(a). Section 736(a) does not apply to the receivables

Differences Of New England And Southern Colonies
As more and more Europeans moved to the New World, colonies were created for specific groups of
people. Colonies were created for varying religions, lifestyles, and economic reasons. The New
England colonies had numerous difference and few similarities with the Southern Colonies. These
differences created distinct features of the regions and the people who lived there. Due to the
geographic location of the Southern Colonies, their economic development relied mainly on
agriculture. Being closer to the equator than New England, the south received longer planting seasons
and also had good soil for planting. The Southern Colonies mainly produced corn, rice, and tobacco,
which were very valuable exports. Unlike the Southern Colonies, in New England the soil was worse
and often times the areas were rocky, often making it much harder to plant and even be profitable. The
South was very reliant on African slaves for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Naturally, they stayed this way, and their lives were centered on their religion. One of the New
England colonies, Rhode Island, even granted complete religious tolerance, a first of its kind. The
Southern Colonies were settled for an economic gain of the settlers. For example, when the colonists
first arrived in Jamestown, a number of them immediately started to look for gold. In the Southern
Colonies, there was little religious tolerance and the colonies were mainly Anglican and Baptist.
Religion wasn t central to life in the Southern Colonies but still influenced its followers. The presence
of religious toleration in the New England Colonies helped steer people of minor faiths to immigrate
to the New England colonies from the Old World and within the New World. The New England
colonists were usually more dedicated to religion, where the Southern Colonists seemed to care more
about economic growth and opportunity than practicing

Metaphors In Anne Bradstreet s The Author To Her Book
In her poem The Author to Her Book, Anne Bradstreet expresses her attitude toward her book and
poems by a metaphor. The controlling metaphor that the speaker uses likens the speaker and her books
to a relationship between a mother and her child. Also, she depicts her shamefulness and
disappointment in the relationship alongside contradicting feelings such as proudness and content for
seeing her book in print.
The speaker expresses how she feels about the books and poems she produced through the metaphor
of a mother and her child. For example, the speaker begins with words such as offspring and after
birth to liken the two relationships (1 2). She implies many complex feelings toward her books like a
mother would toward her child. The speakers feels resentment and embarrassment when the book was
snatched by friends and exposed to public view prior to her revisions (3 4). Because of all the flaws
she believe the book possesses, she doesn t want others to see as errors weren t lessened, all may judge
like a mother might be embarrassed and ashamed because of some of her child s actions (6). Even
though the speaker thinks she is a terrible author because of the mistakes in her book, when she sees
her work as an actual book, her blushing was not small, my rambling brat (in print) (7 8). She was
somewhat proud of her book as now it is published and bound as a book, just like a mother would be
proud of her child s achievements. Then, after the moment of proudness, the

Theories of Punishment
Theories of why we punish offenders are crucial to the understanding of criminal law; in fact it is not
easy to define legal punishment, however one thing is clear within the different theories of punishment
is that they all require justification.[1] There are many theories of punishment yet they are
predominantly broken down into two main categories. The utilitarian theory seeks to punish offenders
to discourage, or deter, future wrong doing. The retributive theory seeks to punish offenders because
they deserve to be punished due to their behaviour upsetting the balance of society[2].

Transformation in Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong
In Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong, Tim O Brien gives a dynamic example of how even the deep

Thomas Hobbes And The Political Philosophy
Thomas Hobbes was, as we know, a 17th century British philosopher. We learn in this module that
Hobbes was the creator of the political philosophy known as social contract theory and that he was
also an egoist. By the revelation of the latter one could easily infer, before diving deeper, that this
philosophical theory is based on the inherent selfishness of man. This assumption would, of course, be
correct. Hobbes believed that all of mankind is inherently selfish and that to obtain a peaceful and
civilized society we had to give up those base desires in the name of security. The idea being that I
give up my right to murder my neighbor so that my neighbor is not allowed to murder me. You give
up your right to do things that could possible harm other people so that other people do not harm you
doing those same things.
Hobbes argued that, without an authority to enforce this social contract, man would revert to a State of
Nature in which there would be no place for industry, because the fruit thereof is uncertain; and
consequently no culture of the earth; no navigation, nor use of the commodities that may be imported
by Sea; no commodious Building; no Instruments of moving and removing such things as require
much force; no Knowledge of the face of the Earth; no account of Time; no Arts; no Letters; and
which is worst of all, continual fear, and danger of violent death; And the life of man, solitary, poor,

the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. I knew
the Second Amendment gave everyone the right to bear arms, but I did not know it established a well

Examples Of Blockbuster
Theory 3
There are some routes and paths that must not be taken. There are some armies and troops that must
not be assaulted. Although some of the routes and paths may looks advantageous to us, it should not
be taken lightly. This is because there might be some ambushes that cannot be found or detected
easily. If the decision is not made cautiously, troubles or loss may be incurred instead of gaining the
desired advantages. In other words, do not judge a book by its cover. Besides that, something that
seems like a benefit may be also a trap set by the enemy or competitor. If someone walks into the trap
looking for benefit, then his or her benefit could be taken away instead. This theory was applied by
Blockbuster, which was once a very popular video rental company. The Chief Executive Officer of

Starry Night Analysis
A Starry Night
Starry Night by the renowned artist Vincent van Gogh has a significant meaning. Aside from the
beautiful sea blue colors mixed with the sunny bright yellows, the graceful and thick brush strokes and
meanings behind the colors tells a story of hope and passion.
This masterpiece was painted by Van Gogh in 1889 while he was receiving treatment in Saint Paul de
Mausole, a mental asylum. The beautiful painting that many people have come to love today was
never appreciated during its own time. Various art critics thought that the large brush strokes Van
Gogh had made in Starry Night seemed messy and childlike . The strokes also convinced people that
Van Gogh was truly crazy and that he was not as talented as other artists. Yet the pencil thick lines are
what made the painting look hyper realistic and eye catching. They have a calming, consistent effect

Mr. Lasko s Loss Of Prosthetic Leg
Summary: This article is a great read, and is about Mr. Lasko, a marine who unfortunately lost one of
his legs in Afghanistan. Lasko participated in a project where he tested out a prosthetic leg specifically
designed for swimming. He would swim laps around the pool and tell Todd Goldstein, the designer of
the leg, how he was feeling. Prosthetic legs have been waterproof for some time but this leg is meant
to swim and help propel you through the water. The leg was designed by Goldstein who used a
process of trial and error with Lasko to come up with the final product. Lasko is a father of two boys
who love to swim and since his accident he has wished for a better way to swim with his kids. It took
some time for Lasko to get adjusted to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I don t think that people without handicaps realize how big of a deal it is to be able to jump into the
water and keep yourself afloat. To be able to swim and play with your kids or friends is taken for
granted. Obviously, it is not only swimming that is tough for people with handicaps. Swimming is just
one more way we can work to bring them some joy again. I really enjoyed this article and thought it
was a great choice, because I think it is wonderful that people are constantly working to make people
with handicaps lives easier. I have not personally dealt with someone in my family with a disability,
with some motor function like their legs, but I had to be on crutches for two weeks when I was in
middle school, and it was hell. If I simply hated dealing with crutches for two weeks, I cannot imagine
people who have had them for years and years to come. Making life easier and more accessible for
these people is a great use of time and money. I love everything about this practice, except the fact the
insurance will not cover prosthetics. I believe in a few years once it becomes less expensive and the
business grows that insurance companies will finally jump on board. They may seem expensive now
but it is almost a brand new technology. They will always have high startup costs. It is the next step in
medical technology and many people suffer from these disabilities, so we must help them every way
we can. When people suffer from a disability like this, they simply don t get enough exercise because
it is much more difficult and dangerous. Without giving these people access to this leg is cruel because
they will only get in worse shape. I hope that Lasko can swim comfortably with his kids from now on,
and now we just need to keep on advancing with this technology. These prosthetics will simply keep
on improving being able to do more and more for the user. I have seen a prosthetic arm that can move

Olympic athletes inspire the masses with stories of triumph over adversity. They are viewed as regular

Industry growth
The individual sports industry has continually shown growth due to the enormous increase in media
exposure, particularly via cable channels dedicated to individual sports, to meet the demands of avid
fans. The Olympics, in particular, have achieved increasing popularity over the past five years as a
result of the industry s growing social media presence and the broadcasting of events through online

Exploratory Factor Analysis Essay
The results indicated that the Cronbach alpha for climate for sexual harassment measure was well
above 0.70 as recommended by Nunnally (1978) i.e. 0.934. The corrected item total correlation for all
the items within the scale was positive and exceeded the value of 0.3 by a wide margin (Pallant,
2005). An examination of the scale s inter item correlation matrix indicated that the scale showed a
moderate to strong positive correlation between all the items within the scale (Gliem Gliem, 2003).
The result determined that all items within the scales were stable enough to assess the intended
construct. Exploratory factor analysis was utilized to determine the construct validity using principle
axis factoring with varimax rotation. For climate of sexual harassment, the value of Kaiser Meyer
Olkin (KMO) was .919 which is superb (Hutcheson Sofroniou, 1999, p 224 225) and the Bartlett test
of sphericity was highly significant (p .001; df=55; Approx. Chi Square=2777.314) thus, supporting
the factorability of the correlation matrix, proving that the factor analysis was appropriate (Table 4).

The New Testament By Peter Essay
Peter Introduction The New Testament is characterized by the existence of imperative Biblical figures,
with the likes of Jesus Christ, the Apostles, among many others. Peter was among Jesus first disciples.
From his turning point, as manifested in the book of John 21, to his progress as a dedicated leader as
manifested in Acts, to his final emergence as a co elder as manifested in the Epistles of 1st and 2nd
Peter, Peter exhibited traits of a transformational and charismatic biblical figure (Neil William 409).
As a Charismatic and transformational figure, Peter drew the attention of diverse Biblical researchers
who to date, portray him as the epitome of ideal Christianity (Neil William 389). Throughout his life,
Peter was affiliated with various accomplishments and shortcomings that reflect imperative spiritual
lessons for Christians in contemporary societies. Background Peter s imperative, emotional, and
impulsive character makes him an interesting Biblical figure in the New Testament. Peter dominates
the Gospels, the Epistles of Peter (1st and 2nd Peter), and the first eleven chapters of the book of Acts
(Apostle Peter Biography 1). As depicted in John 1:43, 12:21, Peter was a humble fisherman from the
City of Bethsaida (Apostle Peter Biography 1). Originally, Peter was known as Simon Peter, before
Christ converted his name to Peter (the rock) in the book of Matthew 16: 18. Peter s achievements and

Gentrification and White Preference in the Rhode Island...
The loss of public housing and the expanse of the wealth gap throughout the state of Rhode Island has
been a rising issue between the critics and supporters of gentrification, in both urban areas such as
Providence and wealthy areas such as the island of Newport, among other examples. With the cities
under a monopoly headed by the wealth of each neighborhood, one is left to wonder how such a
system is fair to all groups. Relatively speaking, it isn t, and the only ones who benefit from such a
system are white skinned. With the deterioration of the economic status of Rhode Island, and
especially in the city of Providence, more and more educated Caucasians are leaving to seek a more
fertile economic environment.

For example, many cities that are rich in culture, diversity, and vitality are beacons for white people
interested in the upcoming scene. This brings more and more whites who displace and marginalize the
original residents through increasing prices. Cities such as New York, Boston, and San Francisco all
have neighborhoods that originally had mostly poor, uneducated African Americans, and now are
swelling with young, educated whites that have greatly increased the price of living. In Boston,
Charlestown, Jamaica Plains, and Beacon Hill have all experienced intense characteristics of
gentrification from the 1970s up until the present, showcasing an increase in the population with at
least a bachelor s degree, as well as a large increase in new and renovated buildings. In New York, the
most famous example of gentrification is in Harlem, has undergone a process of gentrification after
becoming known as the national, and even international symbol for black culture with a vibrancy that
is not seen in the suburbs. Finally, in San Francisco, in the bay area, there has been a massive influx of
affluent companies that have completely devastated the middle class due to a high rise in wealthy,
educated, employees. These employees have taken residence up in the bay area, causing the entirety of
the already previously gentrified neighborhood to skyrocket to unobtainable prices, even for the

No Discipline by the British Soldiers Created the Boston...
The Boston Massacre
On March 5, 1770, colonists were taunting a British sentry outside the Customs House. This was
common for a day in colonized America. However, this day was more meaningful than any other
before. The British sentry retaliated causing a considerable mob of colonists to get involved. Then
some more British came to aid their comrade. Amid the chaos, the British fired their muskets into the
crowd killing five and injuring three. This would later be referred to as the Boston Massacre. A lack of
discipline by the British Soldiers prompted the Boston Massacre. British presence in America became
increasingly unwelcome during the 1700 s. The regime repeatedly became more authoritarian and

The guard reciprocated the behavior; an unprofessional and ignorant reaction for a soldier. A mob of
colonists began to come to their fellow American s aid. The other British guards saw this happening
and came to help out their comrade. Captain Thomas Preston was the commanding officer of the men
dispatched to help the guard in front of the house. The crowd was remarkably rowdy and
uncontrollable. No one was sure what to do. The soldiers dispatched to the situation were unsure of
their orders and rules of engagement. All of a sudden, one soldier fires into the crowd. The rest follow.
( The Boston Massacre ). Samuel Adams cited it as The Boston Massacre to gain attention. (Danzer

Samuel Gray died immediately from the gunshots. Samuel Maverick and Patrick Carr died shortly
after the incident. Christopher Monk was wounded by the gunfire of British, but died ten years later.
Historians disregard Monk as a death of the Boston Massacre because of this ( Boston Massacre

caused the soldiers to fire into the crowd. Some people testified that they only saw a mob of people,
then the firing of guns. Others say the British fired without provocation. Multiple testimonies have
said that they heard Captain Thomas Preston give the order to fire. There are some people who said

Although, society finds neglect inexcusable there are risk factors that put some infants in greater

What Role Does Personification Play In The Dream Of The Rood

From ancient times people were interested in psyche, but the systematic collection of empirical
knowledge began in the nineteenth century, in Germany. Hermann Ebbinghaus (the German

but a short history. (Landrum, No date) Comparatively to physics or chemistry, psychology is a
relatively new discipline. (Carlson, Martin Buskist, 2004) Before that, psychology was treated as a
branch of philosophy. Philosophers who have made the greatest contribution to the psychology
development were: Plato (who as first described the internal conflicts), Aristotle (who created
systematic classification of mental processes), St. Augustine and Descartes. German scientists as
MĂźller, Helmholtz and Fechner were the first who applied the experimental methods. Their works are

Designing A Business Strategy For Business
Customizing Complex Buying Processes
Buyers with house accounts are easier to shepherd through complex buying processes such as
purchase order systems, gaining multiple approvals for business buys, authorizing multiple account
users and developing long term relationships and business partnerships. Many B2B companies are
moving toward using their platforms as marketplaces for multiple vendors, manufacturers and B2B
sales companies. Offering house credit is a good first step for positioning a B2B company at the top of
the chain for this forward thinking business strategy. When companies share financial interests,. it s
easier to work together from shared marketing platforms.
3. Fulfillment Convenience Applications
Customers enjoy faster processing of their orders when they ve been qualified for an account because
no immediate payment arrangements are necessary. B2B companies have all the information they
need to ship immediately, and customers with accounts generally provide more complete information
about their companies, buying habits and financial strengths so that eCommerce platforms can
segregate them with the high degrees of accuracy. When salespeople know a company s limits, they
can better target their sales efforts.

Japan s Change Of Modernity And Democracy
There are many things that contributed to Japan s change to modernity and democracy whether it was
between the political parties or if it was between their cultural system and the people s rights. Before
Japan changed to a more modern and democratic society it was a feudal government structure based
on Confucius views which was during the Tokugawa period. During the Tokugawa period there was a
separation between the social classes which was categorized in four groups the samurai, peasants,
artisans, and merchants. The two classes that had the most power were the samurai and the peasants.
The samurai had the most power because they created a moral example and the peasants came in
second into the social class since they produced food which was essential to survival of the people.
The last two classes the artisans and the merchants. Although the merchants were last in the social
class some were very wealthy and even owned their own monopolies, but since they were in the
bottom of the class the laws prevented them to come higher into power. Although Japan was a feudal
government and was more traditional the Japanese still developed some modernized urban influences
like expanding their trading of commodities, and their advancement in their science studies. Though
the Japanese had some of these modernized views the Tokugawa period soon came to an end due to
the lack of government control by the shogun which created the four classes to fall apart. The

the diction of Macbeth s words are from the Elizabethan Age, it s message rings true and clear.
Macbeth clearly will oppose anything standing in the way of his passion. Critics often debate over the
what tragic flaw of Macbeth lead to his downfall. Was it ambition or Lady Macbeth s influence?

This is the beginning of his obsession for power. At this point he loses touch with reality and what life
is truly about. He cannot say, Lady Mac made me do it. It was she who forced me. (Didn t Adam

Macbeth chooses by his own free will to pursue his obsession and let it control him, rather than
controlling it.
This preoccupation of mind of Macbeth is clearly seen as the play develops. We see that this obsession
to power is accomplished by Macbeth by any means necessary. Sacrifice any and all if necessary
would be a good portrayal of his state of mind. He kills to cover up his earlier murder victims. He has
let this fixation take him on a one way path, a path of no return. It is exactly the same as lying. The
problem with a lie is that one must lie to make the first lie believable. The more one lies, the more

that the story is narrated by a mother who has undergone an abortion and is living through the
heartache of it, and is now trying to convince other mothers to not do this. The third, and least
plausible meaning, is that this is narrated by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It explains that the child was born, physically brought into this world, and yet it didn t live. This what
a stillborn child is. A stillborn falls under the category of a miscarriage; it is essentially a child that has
been born dead. Furthermore, Brooks writes If I poisoned the beginnings of your breaths, / Believe
that even in my deliberateness I was not deliberate, (lines 20 21). This evidence suggests that the
mother is blaming herself for the miscarriage. She may think it was something she did, or something
she didn t do, that caused the loss of her child. In pregnancy, there are things the mother can do that
may cause harm to the fetus, such as smoking, drinking alcohol, or any number of things. Also, if
necessary precautions aren t taken, it may have adverse effects on the child. When a mother goes
through a situation as traumatic as losing their child, it is normal for her to blame herself. Since
Brooks explicitly stated that the narrator was not deliberate, it leads us to believe that it was a
miscarriage because he/she had no intentions of hurting the child. Another example Brooks includes
is, ...I have eased / My dim dears at the breasts they could never suck. (lines 12 13). These lines are
telling us that after the child was born, she may have held it to her chest, but because the child had not
survived, it could not suck. This makes sense because typically after a child is

The Internet Is An Commodity For College Students
The internet is an commodity for college students, a useful source of information for many, though
few people who use the internet know that google, bing, etc. only search a minor sliver of the internet
for information. The rest of the internet that most people do not know about is referred to as the deep
web, This Time article elaborates: Technically the Deep Web refers to the collection of all the websites
and databases that search engines like Google don t or can t index, which in terms of the sheer volume
of information is many times larger than the Web as we know it. (Grossman, Lev, et al. The Deep
Web. Time 182.20 (2013): 26.) Most search engines can only see what is referred to as the Surface
web as is explained on OEDb.com s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The benefits of remaining anonymous online are evident if you are any sort of a hacker or if you are
interested in any illegal activities. The deep web can only be accessed with a certain browser, in the
article Inside The Dark Web Max Eddy describes this browser and how it works: Most people take the
Internet at face value, but what most of us interact with is really just a slice of the information
available called the Surface Web. To get to the Dark Web we have to go deeper, away from the world
of standard Web addresses and onto the anonymity network called Tor. When you click on a link in
Google, you re connected with the target information fairly directly. Someone accessing the same site
while connected through Tor would have their request bounced randomly through volunteer computers
called nodes before exiting Tor and arriving at the site, making their online movements much harder to
track. (Eddy, Max) If your computer is ever being hacked or monitored while on the Tor browser you
can use the get a new identity function and your windows will be closed and the computer s IP address
will be scrambled through different nodes, at the same time shaking any hackers and a new window
will be opened. Anonymity is necessary for many reasons online but especially for certain hacktivist
groups. There are vigilante activist groups that hack certain targets whether it be the government or
other companies usually to expose corruption

Examples Of Justice In The Scottsboro Boys
The scottsboro boys were a group of young black boys on a train. Then they got into a fight with a
couple white boys on the train and threw them off . Next two young white woman that were also
riding the train said they raped them and sent the boys were sent to court.
The central ideas of justice develop throughout the book by when the boys are first put on trial to
when the boys are released or died.Based on the definition of justice and my beliefs justice means that
everyone gets the same thing and is treated equally. The scottsboro boys did not receive justice when
they were first trialed but in the end they did receive justice and some of the boys were set free. The
Scottsboro boys eventually got their pardons but they were long past due ... Show more content on

This time, however, Judge Horton was removed from the case and replaced with Judge William

the law that she will not and did not yield voluntarily to intercourse with the defendant, a Negro. And

Impact Of Tourism On Tourism Development
I. Rationale
Since the 1970s, many different studies have investigated and analysed residents perceived tourism
impacts toward tourism development. As stated by Nunkoo, Smith, and Ramkissoon (2013),
researchers are increasingly making use of different theories to investigate this topic.
A major reason for rising interest has been the increasing evidence that tourism development leads not
only to positive, but also has the potential for negative outcomes at the local level (Lankford Howard,
1994).
Furthermore, due to the lack of research on the particular destination, it is of special interest for the
present student to investigate the perceptions that the residents of Malaga hold toward the most recent
socio cultural impacts of tourism derived from a rapidly industry development. Some professionals of
the tourism industry state that Malaga residents consider that the tourist attractions are only focused on
tourists and therefore they do not get involved in the range of activities offered.
The result of the study can be a source of information for future studies in which the centre of
exploration are the locals residents mindset towards socio cultural tourism impacts and how the
industry development affects their quality of life in both positive and negative ways.
II. Research Questions
 Why are residents such a relevant factor on tourism? Residents as ingredients of a destination
 How does the community of Malaga perceive the socio cultural impacts of tourism?

Stravinsky Spring Influences
Igor Stravinsky s ballet The Rite of Spring is a representation of his Russian roots and everything that
he celebrated. His Russian roots influenced him greatly throughout his career, writing compositions
that reflected his life and Russia itself.
The symbol of Spring to them represents their new year such as a revival of the crops and fams that
was crucial to living. Emboding the new beginnings, t
Born on June 17, 1882 in Oranienbaum, Russia, Igor Stravinsky was raised in St. Petersburg by his
father and mother. Family already with a muscial background, Stravinsky did not want to pursue the
same career as his father and mother. While attending the University of St. Petersburg, Stravinsky met
Nikolai Rimsky Korsakov who changed his mind from studying law to become a music composer.
After the arrival of the first World War, Stravinsky along with his wife and children fled from Russia.
Stravinsky then proceeded to travel the world with his music. Though Stravinsky moved from New
York City to Los Angeles, his time spent in Paris helped influence his inspiration for The Rites of

notes in the key range. As the movement continues, the piece is in a steady beat of offbeats from the
instruments replicating the praise towards Spring harvesting. The meter is at a steady at a pace longer
than the usual 4/4. Although the music is steady, you hear the orchestra wanting to push the tempo,
always on top of the beat, driving the music and dancing forward. Later in the piece, the music turns
dark, changing keys, and the melody becomes obvious and simple, reflecting that of the indigenous
people of Russia; possibly signalling the end of the piece or reflecting the nature of impending war
that threatens the Russian

Trader Joe s Strategic Planning
Introduction [Amy] Trader Joe s is a leading firm that is taking over the supermarket industry. The
company completely altered the idea of a traditional supermarket and turned it into a whole new
experience for consumers. Through Trader Joe s strategic planning, they ve paved a way for
consumers to have high quality products while paying low prices. Trader Joe s provides fewer
products that are health conscious, unique and privately labeled. Trader Joe s has utilized this, secrecy,
employee job satisfaction, culture and starting trends to its advantage. Within its industry companies
are divided into different strategic groups. Aldi, similar Trader Joe s strategic planning, is apart of the
cultured discount neighborhood market. This firm continues the low stock, less waste, small store, and
low price method. A Walmart express used a hybrid strategy that made it a cross between a grocery,
pharmacy, and convenience store. Tesco is the third that falls with small neighborhood markets
strategy and focused on organic products, similar to Trader Joe s. As the company grows and expands,
there is caution in change of Trader Joe s processes. With growth, there comes new management and
employees which can alter the way a specific store is ran and there is worry of change in the stores
normal procedures. Change that doesn t follow the process could ultimately result in a downfall, so
this can be considered a key challenge to watch in the future. Increased bureaucracy is additionally a

Chemistry and Technology in Biodiesel Essay
Chemistry and technology in biodiesel Biodiesel is a cleaner diesel fuel for diesel engines in many
types of vehicles. It is safer for the environment and is a cleaner version of diesel. It is made from
soybeans and other vegetation. It is made with a process called transesterification it seperates glycerin
from fat or oil and then methyl esters and glycerin is what is left over and used for the fuel. Biodiesel
had its origins with the invention of the diesel engine, as the diesel engine was designed to run on
Biodiesel. Rudolf Diesel was the inventor of the Diesel engine. He designed a single 3 m iron cylinder
with a flywheel at its base which ran on its own power for the first time in Augsburg, Germany on

A lot of the crops are home grown in the united states so, we wouldn t have to depend on other
countries for stuff to make fuels out of. Some draw backs to biodiesel is that it is more expensive to
produce than petroleum based diesel fuel, and can degrade rubber fuel lines on older engines and
reduces the life of the rubber lines. Biodiesel on a wider scale can turn crops into cash crops and
reduce the amount of crops for food. Most diesel engines can run off of biodiesel which means a lot of
vehicles wont have to be altered to use biodiesel instead of petroleum based diesel fuel. That means
they are easy to use but can sometimes be hard to find. Biodiesel affects society today, because big
businesses can use them to have greener vehicles and burn the fuel cleaner to help the environment
and can keep people from having respiratory problems because of the less pollution. It can also help
on the economy because you can use used vegetable oil from fast food restraunts. Therefore biodiesel
has pros and cons to it. It can cut down pollutions and the use of petroleum based diesel fuel, and the
dependence on other countries for petroleum. But also, it can be more expensive to produce and can
cut away at our crops for foods. These technological advances in fuel can help the environment and
reduce on pollutions which is a big deal these days. Petroleum is not a renewable resource, but this
organic vegetation is. Using a renewable resource for fuel

2.0 AN OVERVIEW OF SHELL DEVELOPMENT COMPANY IN NIGERIA
2.1 Introduction This chapter will provide basic knowledge of Shell Nigeria Oil Company and its
operation in Nigeria, in particular regarding its ethics, performance, social involvement, contribution
to national income and its contribution to keeping the environment green. Since the Rio Conference of
1992 the code of conduct for all extractive industries including crude oil mining companies has
underlined the following principles that should be respected in doing business:

environment after many years of ecological devastation and comply with all international standards.
Shell environmental legacy and community relations efforts deserve priority attention. What is
however involved is the totality of the existence of the communities and their environment, their
farmland, economic development, education health, water management, spirituality and cultural
heritage which are daily being threatened.
2.2 Introduction and Discussion of Theories and Models from the Literature In this section we would
look at the Royal Dutch Shell Oil company operations worldwide and in particular the Nigeria
operations from several different angles. We will look at how Shell Nigeria operations can impact
upon the three stakeholders; The CEO of Shell, an investor and a local Shell employee. Then we
would look at this wicked problem with the oil spill in the Niger delta. Shell is a global group of

Beethoven s 9th Symphony Analysis
This production of Beethoven s 9th Symphony was presented by the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra in
conjunction with The Lubbock Chorale and The Texas Tech University Choir. The performance was
held in the Lubbock Civic Center Theatre on October 13th and 14th at 7:30p.m. As a performer in the
University Choir, I was required to attend and perform both nights which allowed me the opportunity
to observe two different audiences. The audience on the night of the 13th was obviously better
prepared to handle such a long and mercurial major work. This was evident in the audience s reactions
to the ends of movements. The long standing and unwritten rule of waiting until the end of a major
work to clap was followed silently and diligently. This audience was mostly made up of adults
obviously over the age of fifty that are regular attendees and patrons of the Lubbock Symphony
Orchestra. Following thereafter in group size were the students, specifically Texas Tech and
surrounding area high school students. At this performance the amount of attending children was few
to none, as I could not see or hear any. The second audience mimicked the preceding audience in size
and age, however, this audience s reaction of clapping at the end of movements was highly undesired
by the performers, Maestro Cho, and the remaining members of the audience that understand the
unwritten rules of attending these types of concerts.
These types of reactions by inexperienced audiences make listening to or concentrating on great
performances of beautiful music very difficult. Not only do these translate to distractions for the
performers, but applause betwixt the movements can interrupt the flow of the work and thwart the
intended effect that the composer and conductor wish to have on the audience. This audience reaction
can also take away and distract from the atmosphere of the performance, which, in this case was a
relatively small and intimate concert hall.
Because this concert was only a performance of Beethoven s 9th Symphony, I will react to movements
two and four, the Scherzo and Recitative respectively. The Scherzo (second) movement was
characterized by Beethoven s ability to keep the constant presto eighth note motive throughout the

Essay On The Sixth Sense
An outsider is someone who is either forced or chooses to be different than others. There are
characters in the book Belzhar and the movie The Sixth Sense that are different than those around
them, which makes them outsiders. The book Belzhar by Meg Wolitzer is about a girl named Jam,
which is short for Jamaica, who had a boyfriend and his name was Reeve. Reeve was an exchange
student from London. Another character in Belzhar is Sierra. Both Jam and Sierra are considered
outsiders because of situations in their lives. Each character has become an outsider because of
personal circumstances in their lives that make them different from others. In the movie The Sixth

The majority of them aren t as happy as the rest of them or as they used to be because some horrific
event had happened. Sierra s brother Andre had been kidnapped, so the majority of the group didn t
know the feeling of not having her brother anymore. Jam had lost her boyfriend Reeve. The majority
of the group doesn t understand the feeling when losing a very close friend, family member, or
boyfriend. Everyone thought that Cole was strange because he socially isolated himself and didn t
interact with other children. Isolation is hard to bear for many of the characters in this novel like Jam,
Sierra , and Cole. As stated above, they are outsiders because they stand out as different from their
peers, speak their minds, and are often shunned by others in their community. But being different from
their peers also makes them individual. They are characters who display strength and courage because
they do not always go with the crowd. Being different than others and taking a different path is not
alway a bad choice. In fact, the differences these character s show make each one so likable and

  • 4. Meaning Of Sacrament The word sacrament comes from Latin word Sacramentum the Greek word mysterion is equivalent to Sacramentum and it is used by Paul in Ephesians when he is speaking about marriage. This is a great foreshadowing Mysterion; I mean that it refers to Christ and the church. In later usage, the term Sacramentum emphasizes the visible sign of the hidden reality of salvation which was indicated by the term Mysterium. In this case, Christ himself is the mystery of salvation For there is no other mystery of God, except Christ Jesus. The synonymous of the word Sacramentum in the Bible is Mysterion, Orthodox Church uses the word mystery to mean sacrament. The saving work of Jesus and sanctifying humanity is the sacrament of salvation, is revealed and active in the Church s sacraments and which Eastern Churches also call the holy mysteries. The seven sacraments are the signs and instruments by which the Holy Spirit spreads the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A sacrament properly speaking is that which is ordained to signify our sanctification. In which three things may be considered, the very cause of our sanctification, which is Christ s passion. The form of our sanctification, which are grace and the virtues, and the ultimate end of our sanctification, which is eternal life. And all these are signified by the sacraments. Consequently, a sacrament is a sign that is both a reminder of the past that is the passion of Christ and an indication of that which is effected in us by Christ s passion. That is grace and a prognostic that is a foretelling of future. St Augustine has a different way of explaining the sacraments, for him the sacraments are visible words and relationship with Christ and the Church when He identifies them as visible words to be received in faith. • 5. The Best Invention Of The Early Twentieth Century America has had multiple inventions in its short lifespan, but one stands out above the rest. The invention of the airplane in 1903 by Wilbur and Orville Wright was only the beginning of something that would change the world forever. The airplane is still used today to travel around the world at a much faster pace than a boat. While it has been used to mainly help people they are also used to hurt people. The army uses planes to drop bombs, shoot down planes and threats on the ground, and to survey an area. While these are just cases of military uses the airplane has also been used to do horrible things such as the terrorist attack on the twin towers in New York on september eleventh 2001(9/11 attacks), The airplane was the best invention of the early twentieth century because it created a means of travelling across the world with ease, created a new weapon to fight wars, and it united America. Flying has always been an action that man has observed. The dream of flying is as old as mankind itself ( History of the airplane ). For centuries humans have dreamed of flying through the air, however they have never been able to. Many have tried but their design would always fail. Ornithopter, machine designed to fly by the flapping of its wings in imitation of birds. The wooden bird said to have been made about 400 bc by Archytas of Tarentum is one of the earliest examples. The Greek myth of Daedalus and Icarus involves man s use of wings in the manner of birds. Leonardo da Vinci ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Describe Features Of Inclusive Teaching And Learning... (1.1) Describe features of inclusive teaching and learning? An inclusive environment is an environment where everyone has an opportunity to fully participate. In education, this means everyone has the same opportunity, there should be no boundaries such as ethnicity, gender or disability. All students should feel valued, be able to mix and participate with all members of the group be in a safe and positive environment. Gravells (2014) states: You are not teaching your subject to a group of learners who are all the same, but to a group of individuals with different experiences, abilities and needs, which should be recognised and respected . I like to make all of my students feel important, speaking to them directly, using eye contact, using their name, asking them direct questions. Initially I carry out an assessment to test their prior knowledge, their preferred learning styles and to assess if any additional support is required. I can then adjust the teaching level and pitch it correctly to each individual. (1.2) Compare the strengths and limitations of teaching and learning approaches used in own area of specialism in relation to meeting individual learner needs? According to Fleming (2001): People can be grouped by different learning styles, visual, aural, read/write and kinaesthetic. Understanding these learning techniques in my particular working environment is really important because our creative education system has high demands in regard to them. I use visual ... • 8. Essay on Female Chauvinist Pigs In Female Chauvinist Pigs, Ariel Levy attempts to reconcile her personal views of feminism with its portrayal in popular culture. In order to challenge what she sees as a co opted version of feminism, Levy raises the question of authenticity of sex positive feminism (Levy, 63) on two levels: by selling out in terms of the body and in terms of our patriarchal culture. In order to restore a binary relationship between feminism and non feminism, Levy recasts this sex positive feminism as a new form of (fe)male chauvinism. To do so, Levy turns to the experiences of several young women whom she interviews. From her interpretations of these experiences, Levy reaches the conclusion that these women s sexual nature revolves around their need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This binary relationship manifests itself in Levy s work in another way, as well. Toward the very end of the book Levy claims she has no complaint against women who do gain genuine sexual pleasure from their vaginas waxed, their breasts enlarged (Levy, 198). On one hand, Levy recognizes that sexuality is personal and that everyone s own experiences and preferences are unique. Yet at the same time, by drawing the line between authentic and fake , she must impersonally interpret these experiences in order to classify them as problematic . This desire to judge yet not judge women s sexual nature represents an underlying tension within the book that threatens to unravel her arguments. Levy further asserts her binary comparison in a temporal manner by comparing the feminism of the past with the feminism of the present, as she claims in recent years, the term feminism has fallen further and further out of favour (Levy, 86). By framing her own views of feminism as those belonging to an earlier point in the timeline, she privileges these views as original or authentic . Yet this does not acknowledge that the anti porn wars of the 80 s was a point at which feminism branched out, rather than transitioned from one set of beliefs to another. As a result, the cultural changes that she observed occurred in the presence of both stances of feminism, making it difficult to distil the cause. Levy privileges past over present in her suggestion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Mortgage And Financial Collapse Of The United States... The mortgage and financial collapse of the United States economy had a very devastating impact on thousands upon thousands of Americans. I count myself as one who also had been affected as well. I was a bank manager with more than twenty years of banking experience and had decided during the spring of 1998 to move into a more lucrative career in the mortgage and real estate business. Having started my banking career as a teller, I had built great relationships with my employers and customers and was proud of what I had accomplished. However, upon hearing the news of yet another bank merger, I decided that I would train as a mortgage processor with one of the best mortgage providers in New Jersey. Advancements came very quickly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I am not against creative financing to help individuals obtain the homes of their dreams. I was just not happy about the way that sub prime mortgages were presented to customers who did not fully understand what their particular mortgage note detailed. Therefore, the lessons that we have learned is that a buyer needs to be fully informed on how the process actually works. I recall one former client who was wiser than most, and she had decided that despite what the bank told her what she could afford ($140K) , she searched for a home priced ($100K) so she could afford it on her own. Years later, she told me about her husband s infidelity and sure enough he left their home within 14 months and she was stuck with the payments. Nevertheless, she made her payments and even though she was late several times, her resilience and determination paid off. She sold her house to a contractor for more than doubled its worth because of the two lots that the house was on. She had a success story. That is why it is very important to know what you are getting yourself into. I felt very sad when I would witness the lack of understanding of newly arrived immigrants who could barely understand the English language but there they were, trying to secure a mortgage loan. Full knowledge goes a long way and that is one of the reasons that I would refer clients to take a class on mortgage lending with one of the local realty agencies. Many of those ... • 10. The Case Of Boxes, Llc, The Distribution Occurs 4 Transaction 1 Code Section 704(c)(1)(B) covers distributions of contributed property to another partner. Under this code section, if contributed property is distributed within seven years of the contribution date, the contributing partner must recognize some or all of the built in gain that was deferred at the date of contribution. In the case of Boxes, LLC, the distribution occurs 4 years after the contribution, so Bobby is subject to the recognition provisions. At the date of contribution, the land has a $350,000 built in gain. Recognition of this gain is deferred and the partnership takes a carryover basis of $250,000. When the land is distributed, the FMV of the land has increased to $870,000, increasing the built in gain to $620,000 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the date of contribution, the partnership took a carryover holding period in the land that Bobby contributed. As a result of the distribution, Larry will also take a carryover holding period of April 14th, 2003. The character of the gain recognized by Bobby is determined by how it was used by the partnership. Capital gain property is not subject to the five year character provisions under Section 724. Assuming that Boxes held the land as a capital asset rather than inventory, the gain recognized by Bobby would be capital in nature. Because Larry is not at least a 50% owner of the partnership, his intentions for the land are irrelevant in this matter. Transaction 2 In the event of the retirement of a partner with a disproportionate distribution, Code Section 751(b) provides guidance. In order for Section 751(b) to apply, the partnership must have both Section 751 and non section 751 property. Section 751 assets include unrealized receivables and substantially appreciated inventory. Because the inventory has not appreciated by 120%, of its adjusted basis, the only Section 751 property that Boxes of Books has is its receivables. Because Bobby s distribution of $845,000 exceeds his 35% share of $840,000, he will recognize a guaranteed payment of $5,000 under Section 736(a). Section 736(a) does not apply to the receivables ... Colonies were created for varying religions, lifestyles, and economic reasons. The New England colonies had numerous difference and few similarities with the Southern Colonies. These differences created distinct features of the regions and the people who lived there. Due to the geographic location of the Southern Colonies, their economic development relied mainly on agriculture. Being closer to the equator than New England, the south received longer planting seasons and also had good soil for planting. The Southern Colonies mainly produced corn, rice, and tobacco, which were very valuable exports. • 13. Metaphors In Anne Bradstreet s The Author To Her Book In her poem The Author to Her Book, Anne Bradstreet expresses her attitude toward her book and poems by a metaphor. The controlling metaphor that the speaker uses likens the speaker and her books to a relationship between a mother and her child. Also, she depicts her shamefulness and disappointment in the relationship alongside contradicting feelings such as proudness and content for seeing her book in print. The speaker expresses how she feels about the books and poems she produced through the metaphor of a mother and her child. For example, the speaker begins with words such as offspring and after birth to liken the two relationships (1 2). She implies many complex feelings toward her books like a mother would toward her child. The speakers feels resentment and embarrassment when the book was snatched by friends and exposed to public view prior to her revisions (3 4). Because of all the flaws she believe the book possesses, she doesn t want others to see as errors weren t lessened, all may judge like a mother might be embarrassed and ashamed because of some of her child s actions (6). Even though the speaker thinks she is a terrible author because of the mistakes in her book, when she sees her work as an actual book, her blushing was not small, my rambling brat (in print) (7 8). The utilitarian theory seeks to punish offenders to discourage, or deter, future wrong doing. We learn in this module that Hobbes was the creator of the political philosophy known as social contract theory and that he was also an egoist. By the revelation of the latter one could easily infer, before diving deeper, that this philosophical theory is based on the inherent selfishness of man. This assumption would, of course, be correct. Hobbes believed that all of mankind is inherently selfish and that to obtain a peaceful and civilized society we had to give up those base desires in the name of security. The idea being that I give up my right to murder my neighbor so that my neighbor is not allowed to murder me. You give up your right to do things that could possible harm other people so that other people do not harm you doing those same things. Hobbes argued that, without an authority to enforce this social contract, man would revert to a State of Nature in which there would be no place for industry, because the fruit thereof is uncertain; and consequently no culture of the earth; no navigation, nor use of the commodities that may be imported by Sea; no commodious Building; no Instruments of moving and removing such things as require much force; no Knowledge of the face of the Earth; no account of Time; no Arts; no Letters; and which is worst of all, continual fear, and danger of violent death; And the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short . • 20. Examples Of Blockbuster Theory 3 There are some routes and paths that must not be taken. There are some armies and troops that must not be assaulted. Although some of the routes and paths may looks advantageous to us, it should not be taken lightly. This is because there might be some ambushes that cannot be found or detected easily. If the decision is not made cautiously, troubles or loss may be incurred instead of gaining the desired advantages. In other words, do not judge a book by its cover. Besides that, something that seems like a benefit may be also a trap set by the enemy or competitor. If someone walks into the trap looking for benefit, then his or her benefit could be taken away instead. This theory was applied by Blockbuster, which was once a very popular video rental company. Even in this situation, Blockbuster still did a good job by analysing the market carefully and making their decision wisely. • 21. Starry Night Analysis A Starry Night Starry Night by the renowned artist Vincent van Gogh has a significant meaning. Aside from the beautiful sea blue colors mixed with the sunny bright yellows, the graceful and thick brush strokes and meanings behind the colors tells a story of hope and passion. This masterpiece was painted by Van Gogh in 1889 while he was receiving treatment in Saint Paul de Mausole, a mental asylum. The beautiful painting that many people have come to love today was never appreciated during its own time. Various art critics thought that the large brush strokes Van Gogh had made in Starry Night seemed messy and childlike . The strokes also convinced people that Van Gogh was truly crazy and that he was not as talented as other artists. Yet the pencil thick lines are what made the painting look hyper realistic and eye catching. They have a calming, consistent effect on people whose eyes want to follow the swirls and lines. The brush strokes that Van Gogh added more texture, detail, and blended the colors easily to one another in Starry Night. The realistic details make it feel as if the painting is trying to get a message across to the public. With every line that Vincent van Gogh had made he put as much feelings into them as he did with effort. He would swim laps around the pool and tell Todd Goldstein, the designer of the leg, how he was feeling. Prosthetic legs have been waterproof for some time but this leg is meant to swim and help propel you through the water. The leg was designed by Goldstein who used a process of trial and error with Lasko to come up with the final product. Swimming is just one more way we can work to bring them some joy again. I really enjoyed this article and thought it was a great choice, because I think it is wonderful that people are constantly working to make people with handicaps lives easier. I have not personally dealt with someone in my family with a disability, with some motor function like their legs, but I had to be on crutches for two weeks when I was in middle school, and it was hell. If I simply hated dealing with crutches for two weeks, I cannot imagine people who have had them for years and years to come. Making life easier and more accessible for these people is a great use of time and money. I love everything about this practice, except the fact the insurance will not cover prosthetics. I believe in a few years once it becomes less expensive and the business grows that insurance companies will finally jump on board. They may seem expensive now but it is almost a brand new technology. They will always have high startup costs. It is the next step in medical technology and many people suffer from these disabilities, so we must help them every way we can. When people suffer from a disability like this, they simply don t get enough exercise because it is much more difficult and dangerous. Without giving these people access to this leg is cruel because they will only get in worse shape. I hope that Lasko can swim comfortably with his kids from now on, and now we just need to keep on advancing with this technology. Japan s Change Of Modernity And Democracy There are many things that contributed to Japan s change to modernity and democracy whether it was between the political parties or if it was between their cultural system and the people s rights. Before Japan changed to a more modern and democratic society it was a feudal government structure based on Confucius views which was during the Tokugawa period. During the Tokugawa period there was a separation between the social classes which was categorized in four groups the samurai, peasants, artisans, and merchants. The two classes that had the most power were the samurai and the peasants. The samurai had the most power because they created a moral example and the peasants came in second into the social class since they produced food which was essential to survival of the people. The last two classes the artisans and the merchants. Although the merchants were last in the social class some were very wealthy and even owned their own monopolies, but since they were in the bottom of the class the laws prevented them to come higher into power. Although Japan was a feudal government and was more traditional the Japanese still developed some modernized urban influences like expanding their trading of commodities, and their advancement in their science studies. Though the Japanese had some of these modernized views the Tokugawa period soon came to an end due to the lack of government control by the shogun which created the four classes to fall apart. Phrases as forceful as Macbeth s quote are not common day language, in fact, it is used except in times of intense emotion. Although the diction of Macbeth s words are from the Elizabethan Age, it s message rings true and clear. Macbeth clearly will oppose anything standing in the way of his passion. Critics often debate over the what tragic flaw of Macbeth lead to his downfall. Was it ambition or Lady Macbeth s influence? Hardly so. It was an obsession of power that Macbeth desired so much that led to his compulsive fixation and preoccupation of obtaining his desire by any and all means necessary. Thus, he inevitably ... He cannot say, Lady Mac made me do it. It was she who forced me. (Didn t Adam blame Eve and Eve blame the serpent. It didn t fool God, so Macbeth should not fool anyone). Macbeth chooses by his own free will to pursue his obsession and let it control him, rather than controlling it. This preoccupation of mind of Macbeth is clearly seen as the play develops. We see that this obsession to power is accomplished by Macbeth by any means necessary. Sacrifice any and all if necessary would be a good portrayal of his state of mind. He kills to cover up his earlier murder victims. He has let this fixation take him on a one way path, a path of no return. It is exactly the same as lying. The problem with a lie is that one must lie to make the first lie believable. The more one lies, the more they become convicted to not coming clean. This is exactly what happens to Macbeth. • 40. In Class, We Discussed Three Different Possibilities Of In class, we discussed three different possibilities of the meaning of Gwendolyn Brooks s story The Mother. The first and most probable interpretation of this story is that it is narrated by a mother who has gone through a miscarriage and is trying to warn other mothers not to get abortions because they will regret it. This interpretation contains the greatest amount of solid evidence and makes the most sense. The other two, while less plausible, still have some argument for them. The second theory is that the story is narrated by a mother who has undergone an abortion and is living through the heartache of it, and is now trying to convince other mothers to not do this. The third, and least plausible meaning, is that this is narrated by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It explains that the child was born, physically brought into this world, and yet it didn t live. This what a stillborn child is. A stillborn falls under the category of a miscarriage; it is essentially a child that has been born dead. Furthermore, Brooks writes If I poisoned the beginnings of your breaths, / Believe that even in my deliberateness I was not deliberate, (lines 20 21). This evidence suggests that the mother is blaming herself for the miscarriage. She may think it was something she did, or something she didn t do, that caused the loss of her child. In pregnancy, there are things the mother can do that may cause harm to the fetus, such as smoking, drinking alcohol, or any number of things. Also, if necessary precautions aren t taken, it may have adverse effects on the child. When a mother goes through a situation as traumatic as losing their child, it is normal for her to blame herself. Since Brooks explicitly stated that the narrator was not deliberate, it leads us to believe that it was a miscarriage because he/she had no intentions of hurting the child. Another example Brooks includes is, ...I have eased / My dim dears at the breasts they could never suck. (lines 12 13). These lines are telling us that after the child was born, she may have held it to her chest, but because the child had not survived, it could not suck. This makes sense because typically after a child is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As stated by Nunkoo, Smith, and Ramkissoon (2013), researchers are increasingly making use of different theories to investigate this topic. A major reason for rising interest has been the increasing evidence that tourism development leads not only to positive, but also has the potential for negative outcomes at the local level (Lankford Howard, 1994). Furthermore, due to the lack of research on the particular destination, it is of special interest for the present student to investigate the perceptions that the residents of Malaga hold toward the most recent socio cultural impacts of tourism derived from a rapidly industry development. It is safer for the environment and is a cleaner version of diesel. It is made from soybeans and other vegetation. It is made with a process called transesterification it seperates glycerin from fat or oil and then methyl esters and glycerin is what is left over and used for the fuel. Biodiesel had its origins with the invention of the diesel engine, as the diesel engine was designed to run on Biodiesel. Rudolf Diesel was the inventor of the Diesel engine. Some draw backs to biodiesel is that it is more expensive to produce than petroleum based diesel fuel, and can degrade rubber fuel lines on older engines and reduces the life of the rubber lines. Biodiesel on a wider scale can turn crops into cash crops and reduce the amount of crops for food. Most diesel engines can run off of biodiesel which means a lot of vehicles wont have to be altered to use biodiesel instead of petroleum based diesel fuel. That means they are easy to use but can sometimes be hard to find. Biodiesel affects society today, because big businesses can use them to have greener vehicles and burn the fuel cleaner to help the environment and can keep people from having respiratory problems because of the less pollution. It can also help on the economy because you can use used vegetable oil from fast food restraunts. Therefore biodiesel has pros and cons to it. Beethoven s 9th Symphony Analysis This production of Beethoven s 9th Symphony was presented by the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra in conjunction with The Lubbock Chorale and The Texas Tech University Choir. The performance was held in the Lubbock Civic Center Theatre on October 13th and 14th at 7:30p.m. As a performer in the University Choir, I was required to attend and perform both nights which allowed me the opportunity to observe two different audiences. The audience on the night of the 13th was obviously better prepared to handle such a long and mercurial major work. This was evident in the audience s reactions to the ends of movements. The long standing and unwritten rule of waiting until the end of a major work to clap was followed silently and diligently. This audience was mostly made up of adults obviously over the age of fifty that are regular attendees and patrons of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. Following thereafter in group size were the students, specifically Texas Tech and surrounding area high school students. At this performance the amount of attending children was few to none, as I could not see or hear any. The second audience mimicked the preceding audience in size and age, however, this audience s reaction of clapping at the end of movements was highly undesired by the performers, Maestro Cho, and the remaining members of the audience that understand the unwritten rules of attending these types of concerts. These types of reactions by inexperienced audiences make listening to or concentrating on great performances of beautiful music very difficult. Not only do these translate to distractions for the performers, but applause betwixt the movements can interrupt the flow of the work and thwart the intended effect that the composer and conductor wish to have on the audience. This audience reaction can also take away and distract from the atmosphere of the performance, which, in this case was a relatively small and intimate concert hall. Because this concert was only a performance of Beethoven s 9th Symphony, I will react to movements two and four, the Scherzo and Recitative respectively.
