Compare And Contrast First And Second Great Awakening
The First Great Awakening spread throughout the 13 colonies as an emotional religious revival
movement from 1720s to 1740s that appeared due to the increase of secularism and rationalism
religion in which evangelist had challenged established denominations and pushed towards a more
personal relationship with God (3 + 12).The Second Great Awakening was a religious revival
movement from in the 19th century, which called for an individualized relationship between the
people and God, promoting it through Baptist and Methodist beliefs, which held a more egalitarian
attitude in the case of everyone being able to achieve salvation. The First Great Awakening and
Second Great Awakening both transformed religious ideology by introducing individualism, a belief
where men have a closer and direct relationship with God. The First and Second Great Awakenings
had a transformation in their methods of worship with a change in venue, with the First Great
Awakening having people preach to the masses on the street corners outside; while in the Second
Great Awakening, having revivals and camp meetings with people screaming and jumping, a change
from the traditional, to a wholly new method of worship.
Jonathan Edwards, a Congregationalist minister in western Massachusetts, who was shocked at the
dissipating religious spirit, believing that people were giving up to sinful pleasures. He worked against
the secularization of the Enlightenment and focus on pushing the emotional side of religion by
expressing the wonderful nature of Heaven and the horror of Hell, helping to renew intensity behind
religion. This idea of Heaven and Hell was stated in his sermon, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry
God , intended to scare people into looking for salvation, with descriptions of people being held over a
fire in Hell. This is expressive of the change of social norms in Puritan New England, where going to
the Minister s house as opposed to the Tavern was acceptable. This also shows the more individualized
ideals people had, for they were presented with the option of achieving their own salvation and take
responsibility for their lives, having the option of maintaining a personal connection with God. (ch 3

Should Religion Be Taught In Schools Essay
Understanding and weighing perspectives from different people, cultures, and schools of thought are
important global competence skills that all students should develop yet even though America is one of
the most religiously diverse countries we remain perilously ignorant about the entire subject. Should
world religion be taught in public schools or is it too controversial? Well the truth is, students have a
First Amendment right to religious expression in schools. Furthermore, religiously motivated hate
crimes are on the rise, the student body is more diverse, and religious literacy is a key to a well
rounded education.
The First Amendment states, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of

According to the U.S. Department of Justice s Hate Crime Victimization report, the percentage of hate
crimes were nearly three times higher in 2012 (28%) than in 2004 (10%) (blogs.edweek.org). This
number will continue to increase, and in order for it to decrease the people need to start understanding
these scary statistics and make a stand for a more peaceful society. Also, the student body is so diverse
that this type of teaching would just be simply important for everybody to learn. Not only are they
diverse in gender but in the average school 5.98% are Hispanic or Latino, 0.99% are American Indian

Wolf Moose Project
Term Project Specification Predator Prey Model and Analysis of the Wolf Moose Relationship
Administrative Information John Suarez: dynamic analysis, research David Shuttleworth: system
engineer, UML modeling System being modeled This project plans on modeling a dynamic system
predator prey relationship. The wolf moose relationship of Isle Royal represents a unique location
where moose is solely preyed upon by wolves. And wolves prey mostly just on moose; however, it has
been noted that beavers have been a secondary food source. The wolf and moose population in this
locale has been studied thoroughly and population statistics have been recorded for over 50 years.

We hope to employ machine learning techniques that may lead to a model that can better predict
future issues for planning and conservation. Model Formulation The wolf moose relationship will first
be modeled using UML. The purpose and requirements of the conceptual model will be captured
using UML via use case diagrams. Furthermore, a class diagram will be used to document the system
components, and a state diagram will be used to capture the possible states of a wolf and moose. The
state diagram may also be used as a building block for possible Markov Chain and Bayesian Net
models. Sequence and Activity diagrams will also be generated to model the dynamic behavior of the
predator prey relationship. This model will be particularly useful for building a dynamic model. The
system will be modeled using a Bayesian Network or Markov Model. These types of models may be
useful for determining cause of moose death: natural causes or harvested by wolves. This model will
be based on historical data where the predator prey relationship was particularly isolated to external

Side Effects Of Birth Control Pills
Contraception (also known as birth control or fertility methods) are methods or devices used to
prevent pregnancy. However, some of these methods are more effective than others. One method of
contraception are birth control pills. Birth control pills are pills that contain hormones. Since it
contains hormones it changes the way the body works, and prevents pregnancy. The hormones that are
used to prevent pregnancy in this method of contraception are, estrogen and progestin. Most of the
control pills that are used have both estrogen and progestin. Estrogen and progestin are man made
hormones used to reduce the possibility of pregnancy. Although, sometimes there is only one hormone
used for birth control pills. These specific type of pills have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For example, a woman does not need to be on birth control if they are breast feeding. This myth is
entirely false! Over the course of 1 year, about 8 out of 100 typical couples who rely on the Pill to
prevent pregnancy will have an accidental pregnancy. This is why when you are on the pill it is crucial
that you have a backup plan in case for any reason the birth control pill does not follow through with
its regular procedure. For example, a backup plan would be a condom. Two contraceptive methods
like this decreases the chances of a woman getting pregnant more than the use of only one
contraceptive method.
There is another thing to look out for when you are on birth control pills. Birth control pills contain an
expiration date. Although they have expiration dates, this does not signify that they are of no use. This
only signifies that the effectiveness of the pills are

Gross Income Implications For The Individual Who Accepted...
Gross Income implications for the individual who accepted the bribe:
The definition of gross income per section 1 of the Income Tax Act for any resident is:
the total amount
in cash or otherwise
received by, or accrued to, or in favour of such resident
during such year or period of assessment
excluding receipts and accruals of a capital nature
The bribe of R300 000 meets all the aforementioned requirements of the gross income definition
except for whether or not the amount has been received by the senior official during the year of
assessment ending 28 February 2015.
The gross income definition requirement of received by is not defined in the Income Tax Act and
therefore the following case law principles will be applied in determining whether the bribe, being
illegal income, should be included in the individuals gross income for the current year of assessment.
Cases:
An amount is received by a tax payer if the taxpayer intended to receive the amount for his own
benefit irrespective of the legality(legal or illegal) of such amounts (MP Finance Group CC v CSARS
(2007)).
The source of income, legal or illegal, is irrelevant in determining if an amount constitutes gross
income. Moreover, illegal receipts are taxable(CIR v Delagoa Bay Cigarette Co)
In order to constitute a receipt for normal tax purposes, the taxpayer must have received the amount
on his own benefit and for his own behalf (Geldenhuys v CIR).
It can be deduced using the above

The Importance Of Age Discrimination
Nobody will stay young forever. We all getting older whereupon our energy level diminishes. What
remains is our wisdom and experience that we can forward to the next generation. Some employers
value dynamic and flexibility and others value wisdom and experience. Working for an employer for
over 30 years while providing excellent job performance and loyalty in any aspect, it is not right to get
laid off all the sudden, only because a younger employee is replacing you. That is a terrible and awful
notion. People feel exploited and now useless just like a product that you don t need anymore. Where
is the appreciation and thankfulness for all the work delivered in the last 30 years? All forgotten? I
strongly believe it is never appropriate to discriminate based on age! We are all humans and we should
all practice humanity. Everybody deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. It is just unfair,
injustice and unreasonable to drop an employee like a hot potato after 30 years of loyalty and good job
performance. Getting older and weaker is a natural inevitable process that is nobody fault. It affects all
of us and we should act accordingly, therefore. Treating somebody unfair because of his age can
backlash to ourselves in the future. Age matters all of us.
Give examples of two situations in which you believe age discrimination is acceptable and provide an
explanation of your reasoning.

hurting the human population. Scientist are digging deeper and deeper to figure out if this could be the
case, but isn t proven yet. Another problem that is being put on the table is if the antibiotics are

People start to assume that every animal that gains weight quickly are being pumped full of antibiotics
or steroids. From personally living on a farm I see no problem with antibiotics being used for animals.
I have had personal experience with most of the livestock and dairy animals. I have lived on a farm for
16 years and antibiotics are not the first thing farmers want for their animals. When we had dairy
cattle we gave vaccines, but tried to avoid giving any other medicines to them. When we had to give
medicine it meant our animal was sick or had a disease. Also when you give medicine to dairy cattle
you aren t aloud to keep the milk for seven days because of the antibiotics that would be in the milk.
So theoretically you wanted to keep medicine out of your livestock s body so you didn t have to stop
producing the product. Then later we got rid of the dairy cattle and went into a cow calve farm for
meat purposes. Our cattle did not get fed food with a bunch of antibiotics in it. Only medicated feed
we fed them was mineral that helped keep flies off their body so they would not get pink eye. Pink eye

What Influence Did John Calvin Have On Church History
WHAT INFLUENCE DID JOHN CALVIN HAVE ON CHURCH HISTORY John Calvin was born at
Noyon, France, on 10 July 1509, the son of a notary. He went to the University of Paris in 1523 (it was
not unusual to attend university at so young an age), where he learned Latin from the humanist
Mathurin Cordier. He developed a strong love of languages and earned his Master of Arts in 1528 in
theology. Then, in 1532, Calvin experienced a spiritual conversion. It was typical of Calvin that he
gives us virtually no details of this crucial moment in his life. In contrast with Luther, who is
extensively autobiographical, Calvin wrote merely that he had experienced a sudden conversion, and
we must be satisfied with that ( The Reformation: Calvin. The Reformation: Calvin. N.p., n.d. Web. 04
Sept. 2015.). John Calvin is not at the last place level on an equivalence with Martin Luther as the
inventor of the Reformation. Actually, Luther s followers produced a formal church; however, Calvin s
followers created several churches; to name a few the French Huguenots, the English Puritans, the
Scottish Presbyterians, and the Dutch Reformed Church. In fact, Calvin had an outstanding way to the
German lands, and Luther had a large influence in Western Europe, however, you will not stray
incorrectly by going to see Calvin s influence in the churches west of the Rhine River, and Luther s
hand in the churches east of the Rhine.
Likely the best known aspect of Calvinist theology regards predestination,

Personal Narrative-A Wolf s Den
The Wolf s Den I lived under the roof of a wolf s den. Each night the two wolves in my den would
bark and growl at each other like the ear splitting shrill of a kettle. They would often pursue each other
with torture and seek revenge. On several occasions, the two wolves in my den would pounce on each
other with words and end their fight with tears and with blood. Everyday was a story told out of hell.
My mother would fight with my father about their intense and endless differences. Often I would lie
awake in my bed listening to the screams and slurred shouting that pounded against my bedroom door
well into the night. My den was once peaceful and harmonious. Love was the backbone at a time

bring the subject about but I thought the best way would be to say something different. Come on. You
must be thinking something. Daniel urged. Tell me. Please? You know you can tell me anything Evie.
I promise not to laugh. I pondered on this thought momentarily, with my secret threatening to spill out

Daniel stopped for a moment and looked longingly at me with his captivating, blue eyes. His lips

Essay on Economic Growth and Development
Economic growth is a necessary but not sufficient condition of economic development.
There is no single definition that encompasses all the aspects of economic development. The most
comprehensive definition perhaps of economic development is the one given by Todaro:
Development is not purely an economic phenomenon but rather a multi dimensional process involving
reorganization and re orientation of the entire economic and social system.
Development is a process of improving the quality of all human lives with three equally important
aspects. These are:
1. Raising peoples living levels, i.e. incomes and consumption, levels of food, medical services,
education through relevant growth processes.
2. Creating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Amartya Sen defines economic development in terms of personal freedom, freedom to choose from a
range of options. While economic growth may lead to an increase in the purchasing power of people,
if the country has a repressed economy, there is lack of choice and hence personal freedom in
restricted. Hence once again growth has taken place without any development.
While economic growth may result in an improvement in the standard of living of a relatively small
proportion of the population whilst the majority of the population remains poor. It is how the
economic growth is distributed amongst the population that determines the level of development.
Taking into consideration the trickle down theory of economics by
Lewis, if the growth in economy is not sufficient to satisfy the needs and wants of the upper sections,
nothing or very little shall trickle down to the lower sections in the hierarchy of society. Thus, the gap
between the rich and poor widens and though economic growth has impacted a certain section of
society, this cannot be considered development. Another example is an increase in the defence output
of a nation, which accounts for an increased GDP but does not in any way contribute to economic
development.
Economic growth is not enough in itself to measure economic development as even if there has been a
leap in the income of people in a particular nation,

Educating Special Needs Students
Identifying and providing for special needs children is essential to special education. Once a child has
been diagnosis with a disability or multiple disabilities, a plan of care is initiated according to the
severity of their condition and their needs. This plan is individualized; one child s diagnosis is not a
reflection of the wide range conditions that affect many children. Intellectual disabilities can be mild

The Sun Also Rises Relationships
Love and friendship are a major theme in the course of the book, The Sun Also Rises by Ernest
Hemingway. As an expatriate himself, Hemmingway paints a realistic picture of life in 1920s Paris,
France through his protagonist Jake Barnes. To show the importance of his characters, the lost
generation, Hemingway writes of Jake and his friends, the places he visits, and the events he enjoys.
Due to postwar times, the relationships between Jake and his lover Brett, his friend Bill, and
antagonist Robert enhance the plot and do not represent the typical healthy relationships. The type of
love portrayed between Jake and Brett is not the typical fairy tale story due to the disillusioned state of
the characters in a self indulgent time. The war affected

a cadaver in an undergrad human anatomy course, I was the least squeamish compared to my peers.
With my background and experiences, I was mentally prepared to work with the cadavers. I tried not
to get too emotional attach with the donors I work with. I thought of my donors as another species. For
me, it is not the feet, the hands, the heart or the face that reminded me that the donors were once
human , but it was the mouth especially the teeth. And I have seen a lot of mouths was most as most of
the donors were hemisected, so when I try to refer to the donor I worked with was semi human.
Regardless of how I referred to the donors, I worked with, human or not, I hold my utmost regard for
them. When one of my peers decided to make an inappropriate hand gesture using one of the donor s
fingers to flipped someone out, I find it not only unsuitable in a professional learning environment but
very disrespectful to the donors. I immediately bought up

Averrhoa Carambola Essay
OSMOTIC DEHYDRATION OF STARFRUIT
Averrhoa carambola
INTRODUCTION
Star fruit, botanically called as Carambola, is a star shaped tropical fruit with sweet and sour flavor.
Malayan peninsula native Carambola is cultivated in many parts of Southeast Asia, Pacific Islands and
China for its fruits. Eventhough, abundant and plentiful, carambola is yet to gain popularity, especially
in the western world.
Scientific name: Averrhoa carambola. The genus Averrhoa includes two well known sorrels
(Oxalidaceae) family of fruiting trees, carambola.
Star fruit is a small, bushy evergreen tree that grows very well under hot, humid, tropical conditions.
The plant bears small lilac colored, bell shaped flowers in clusters which subsequently develop into
oblong shaped fruits with characteristic five angled edges (sides or ribs) that appear like a starfish in
cross sections. Both sweet and sour varieties begin to yield under cultivable orchards, and ready for
harvesting when the plants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It usually has five prominent longitudinal ridges, but in rare instances it can have as few as four or as
any as eight. In cross section, it resembles a star. Thin, smooth, and waxy skin turns from light to dark
yellow when ripe. The translucent flesh is light yellow to yellow in color. The fruit will have 10 to 12
flat light brown seeds about a width of 6 to 13 mm (0.25 to 0.5 in) and it is enclosed in gelatinous aril.
Once removed from the fruit, they became inactive within a few days.[2]
Carambola fruit features light green to yellow with attractive ,smooth, waxy surface and weighs about
70 130g. Inside, it s crispy, and juicy pulp can either be mildly sweet or extremely sour depending
upon the type and amount of oxalic acid concentration. In some seed varieties, 2 5 tiny edible seeds
found at the center of each angled cavity.

Anarchy vs. Autocracy
Anarchy v. Autocracy
Liberty vs. Security; both are seemingly broad terms, but due to current events, circumstances have
occured resulting in an infringement on liberty because of issues regarding national security thus,
creating problems for citizens and politicians alike. Liberty is best defined as a concept that identifies
the condition in which an individual has the right to act according to his/her free will[1]. Security is
the degree of protection from danger, loss, or criminals[2]. The problem lies in that there are many
different views on what the government s role on the proper balance between the two should be. The
proper balance between liberty and security is an equilibrium unless in specific events or time periods

In certain events, extreme security is needed, and should be completely justified. In order to establish
what is right or wrong without corruption, the public should have the final say on what needs to
happen because they are ultimately the ones who will be affected by these new enforcements. Similar
to presidential elections, a national vote should happen during a time of peace, on what precautions
the government needs to take during these stressful time periods. The purpose of the election is to get
an adequate sample of what the citizens believe their ratio of security to liberty is. A difference would
be the removal of the Electoral College. Instead of having the views censored by elected officials, it
needs to be the raw wishes of the population. The significance of having it during peace time would be
that during emergencies, people get frantic and desperate. Decisions would inevitably be clouded by
fear and overall craziness. Ben Franklin once said that, Passion never governs wisely, and this
certainly holds true to a person s reaction during war or difficult moments. However, the government
will react to what the people want, and will come up with laws or actions that would be beneficial to
our society. For example, Document G is a political cartoon that is about the US Patriot Act. In it, Clay

Theme Of Satire In Gulliver s Travels
Satire in Gulliver s Travels
First published in 1726, Gulliver s Travels is a momentous piece of literature which defined the
satirical genre and empowered writers of following generations to assume the responsibility of
keeping the government in check and exposing corruption. The novel accomplices this through its
nuanced prose and wild exhibitions of imagery, subliminally mocking and satirizing facets of the
cultures he s introduced to. Exploring themes of corruption, religious division and hypocrisy, and
cultural progressivism, Gulliver s travels implements and employs various allusions and metaphors as
a means of pushing his agenda.

This contrast is best exhibited between the inhabitants of Gulliver s third and fourth voyage, as their

contrast evokes thought over what makes an advanced society and alludes to the intellectual and
traditional wars raging in Europe, both in the academic realm with hobbes and in the political realm as
the concept of self governance began to emerge. Gulliver s travels is irrevocably one of the most
influential and notorious novels to ever be written. The critiques of society were felt like a sting
throughout the continent while his humorous tales warmed the spirits of many citizens. The novel s
striking satire helped define a generation and propel literature into a new mindset and motivation. The
clever metaphors and well constructed allusions allowed for a cohesive and intriguing depiction of a
fantasy through a realistic lense. Gulliver s Travels allowed readers to travel to distant utopias and
dystopias and travel back, spreading knowledge and ideologies for the progress of the

The Hound Of The Baskervilles by Conan Doyle Essay
The Hound Of The Baskervilles by Conan Doyle
Conan Doyle is best known as the creator of Sherlock Holmes and his sidekick Dr Watson. His stories
about mysterious detection stories are still being read all over the world.
Arther Conan Doyle was born in Edinburgh in 1859. He spent a year in Austria before taking a degree
in medicine. He later drew on the method of diagnosis for the basis for Sherlock Holmes s own
deductive methods and Elementary approach to solving mysteries. His work was so popular because at
that time detection was rising.

Also Holmes points out the teeth marks on the stick, although he only knows what dog they re from
because he seems the dog through the window, this helps show the reader that Watson believes
Holmes knew the type of dog just from its teeth marks, when really it s just because he can see the dog
outside the window. The dog s jaw, as shown in the space between these marks, is too broad in my
opinion to be a terrier and not broad enough for a mastiff. It may have been yes, by jove it is a curly
haired spaniel (page 11).
The language used by the characters is some what different to the language used by people today.
They don t tend to use slang and generally talk a lot posher. Really Watson, you excel yourself
(Holmes to Watson page 8, line 13) People now wouldn t talk like that. Holmes also talks as if he is
sort of top dog around, Watson does talk posh, however he doesn t have the same was of speech as
Holmes.
Conan Doyle also spends time in building tension and suspense by concentrating on the language of
horror. In chapter two, he introduces us to the legend of the Baskervilles and the death of Sir Hugo.
Doyle begins to set his tone for the reader by describing Hugo as a Wild profane godless man . This
tells us that he is beyond the help of good and open to

Studies have proven that kelp can accelerate growth, increase flowering, and provide resistance to
disease ( Benefits of Kelp , n.d.). When comparing Figures 3 and 4, the SUPERthrive zinnias appear
to have healthier growth and are generally larger than the control group. Many of the SUPERthrive
zinnias also flowered, and overall looked healthier than the control zinnias. Because kelp has been
proven to increase growth, health, and flowering, it may be the reason why the experimental zinnias
had more success than the control.
The synthetic auxin found in SUPERthrive, indole 3 bytric acid, may be a key player in the benefits of
SUPERthrive, if there are any. For example, indole 3 acetic acid (IAA), the main auxin in higher
plants, has been found to have positive effects on plant growth and development. Auxin is able to
stimulate differential growth, specifically in response to gravity or light stimuli. Another important
aspect of auxin is its ability to detect developmental defects caused by auxin deficiency. With
SUPERthrive having indole 3 bytric acid as one of its main ingredients, there should be some benefits
from its use (Zhao, 2010). The increased growth seen in the SUPERthrive zinnias may have been due
to the additive of auxins in the product. Overall, it is hard to draw conclusions based off the results of
this experiment. While the SUPERthrive zinnias did experience a larger growth of 4.5 cm average

Carbon Monoxide Pollution
Background Since the Industrial Revolution, there has been an increased presence of pollutants and
carcinogens in the environment, specif ically in urban areas.1 The presence of airborne pollutants can
lead to an increase in allergic reactions and asthma rates. A common airborne pollutant is carbon
monoxide (CO), which is commonly found in diesel exhaust. It is an odorless gas produced from me
thane and non methane hydrocarbon oxidation.2 The toxic gas eliminates and takes the place of
oxygen in the form of carboxy hemoglobin when it binds to hemoglobin in red blood cells. It also
affects the binding sites of heme groups, which complicates the transfer of oxygen to tissues.3 The
majority of deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning is brought on from car exhaust.4 Between the
years 1979 and 1988, 57% of deaths from carbon monoxide poi soning were brought from car
exhaust. There tend to be higher rates of carbon monoxide poisoning from car exhaust in northern
regions, where temperatures are relatively low (Figure 1). 5
A way to approach the elimination of carbon monoxide from car exhaust is through the use of
organometallic catalysts. Through the use of a catalyst, a reaction can occur at a faster rate and at
lower activation energy. Said catalysts serve are of great commercial interest because they essentially
convert simple mole cules into more complex ones.6 Unlike homogeneous catalysts, heterogeneous
catalysts are not in the same phase as how the reac tion is occurring. Because of this, the catalysts are
considered to be cheaper and easier to obtain. It is also considered more envi ronmentally friendly to
use.6 7
Selective heterogeneous catalysis can be performed in terms of oxidation and reduction. A typical
reduction reaction would re quire an oxidation agent and the use of certain intermediates, just like the
catalytic reduction reaction for the dehydration of ethanol (Scheme 1). The reaction uses solid acids,
such as group A salts, as catalysts and said catalysts are heated in order to convert etha nol to ethylene.
The heterogeneous reaction is known as an acid catalyzed, or bulk type (I) catalysis, reaction. 8
Proof of Concept When it comes to eliminating toxic components of car exhaust, there

Describe The Working Conditions In The 1800 s
Six days a week I worked from siren to siren. This quote describes what it was like to work at a
plantation, it explains how it was on a regular day working on a plantation in Hawai i. Sugar was
starting to grow in Hawai i during the reign of Kamehameha III. At first there were many plantations
but then only a few grew larger and continued to produce. The larger plantations often bought the land
of the smaller ones that were not successful. These large plantations needed workers to manage the
machinery, so Kamehameha III had the idea to look abroad for workers. These workers came from
near and far to work on the plantations to get paid $3 a month. Plantation life in Hawai i in the 1800 s

that the workers didn t have a lot to eat. In the article it stated, the wake up call was at 5:00 in the
morning and all of them had to be at the fields by 5:30 a.m. Second, the working conditions were
terrible. According to source one, the workers had to hike to get to the fields and then spend 10 to 12

If they worked more than 10 hours, the workers get paid more. Third, the different races were also

How Is Iago A Complex Character In Othello
Shakespeare s work is heavily studied in America. He has created hundreds of works, and many of his
plays have found a place in classrooms around the world. Shakespeare has written many famous plays
such as Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and Macbeth. With all these plays one character type has appeared
repeatedly throughout his work, a character that spurs on trouble and usually exhibits antagonistic
actions while on stage. One great example is Iago from Shakespeare s Othello. He constantly
manipulates the feelings and actions of fellow characters to insure his own schemes come to fruition

His plot had been complete but he had been unable to escape the fallout freely. With Iago s treachery

almost every main character is dead by the plays end, leaving nothing but death and a lesson. Revenge
is often a double edged sword, fulfilling the ambitions of those brash enough to wield it at the cost of
whatever the user holds dear. The core lesson Shakespeare was teaching his audience was to have faith
in those closest to them, to give them the benefit of any doubt and to never allow your anger to
determine your choices. Iago was consumed with his anger at the mention of rumors about Othello
and his wife, and his dissatisfaction with Cassio s promotion. Have faith in those you love and strive
to give yourselves the happiest life possible. Life does not always go as we would like, but we should
simply continue to strive for our

Cognitive Theory Of Flashbulb Memory
Cognitive level of analysis aimed to study how cognitive process guide behaviour, as such, emotion
has been concerned with its cognitive influence with this level of analysis. The theory of Flashbulb
Memory is one theory of how emotion may have impact on cognitive process of memory.
The theory of flashbulb memory was suggested by Brown and Kulik. Flashbulb memory is a special
kind of emotional memory, which refers to vivid and detailed memories of highly emotional events
that paper in the brain as though with the help of a camera s flash. Flashbulb memory can be defined
as a highly accurate and exceptionally vivid memory of a moment. The theory of flashbulb memory
therefore distinguished flashbulb memories from the normal memories, as the flashbulb memories are
more vivid, detailed, accurate, long lasting and easily to remember, whereas the normal memories are
believed to be mostly unreliable and easily distorted. Brown and Kulik also suggested that, there may
be a special neural mechanism in the brain which triggers an emotional arousal because that event is
unexpected or extremely important.
This essay is aiming to evaluate the theory of flashbulb memory by using studies that support this
theory and studies that oppose this theory so that the validity of the theory can be revealed.
The flashbulb memory was firstly demonstrated in Brown and Kulik s study in 1977. Their study has
been a supporting evidence for the theory of flashbulb memory.
The aim of their study was to investigate flashbulb memory. Eighty Americans were interviewed, forty
of them were African Americans and the other forty of them were Caucasian American. They had to
answer ten questions about ten events and nine of the events were mostly on assassination of well
known Americans, the last one question was self selected of personal events that included self shock).
Then they were asked how much they have rehearsed the events overtly and covertly. Overt rehearse
means discussing the event with others, covert rehearse means private rehearsal. The result showed
that J. F. Kennedy s assassination in 1963 was remembered most vividly among the participants. It
also showed that African Americans has more flashbulb memories of civil right

Rama Vs Odyssey
Realism versus Perfection:
Throughout history, different cultures have created heroes as representations of the ideals that these
cultures value. Often times these heroes have very little or no flaws, such is the case with the Hindu
hero Rama. On the other hand, some heroes have many virtuous attributes to them, while still
containing flaws, creating a more realistic and achievable hero, such as with Odysseus. Both of these
heroes represent the principles that were valued from their respective cultures of origin; therefore, the
heroes themselves are representations of the society during the time of their (the heroes) creation.
These heroes serve as guides to how the people of their respective cultures try to lead their lives,
which makes Perfect heroes problematic for people who try to follow their actions. ... Show more

Although Odysseus and Rama are similar in the fact that they are both heroes who long to reunite with
their respective wives, the differences between them are clear. Odysseus is a very flawed character,
which allows modern readers to relate to him easier than Rama, who is nearly perfect in every aspect,
and serves more as an idealization of how to behave in Hindu culture, rather than a realistic and
relatable hero. Despite their differences, both heroes share a common journey. Odysseus s journey
takes place after the war, with Odysseus choosing to fight in the war for ten years, voluntarily leaving
his family behind. Likewise, Rama chose to accept his fourteen year exile out of respect to his father,
despite his family and community begging him to stay and rule as king. However, Odysseus causes
the prolonging of his return home, due to his arrogance after outsmarting Polyphemus, whereas
Ravana kidnapping Sita prolonged and increased the difficulty of Rama s exile. Another similarity
between the two stems from the divine forces that helped them along their journeys. Rama, being a
reincarnation of the god Vishnu, has a

The term materialism is known as a philosophy, and also an issue in our society. By definition,
materialism is the theory or attitude that physical well being and worldly possessions constitute the

Feminism In The Spice Girls
The Spice Girls believed in girl power and empowering women and during the 1990s, feminism was a
larger topic. But what is feminism in the first place? The Merriam Webster s dictionary definition of
the word feminism is, the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes. This
sounds like something good, right, making people equal no matter their gender. However, many
people don t stop to do their own research and get caught up with what their friend or favorite
youtuber says about feminism, and most of the time those people didn t do their research either. So,
there are many misconceptions people make of feminism. For example, some women are told they
cannot be feminists because they like girly things, such as makeup and fashion. (Wood 2) Telling a girl
she can t wear makeup at all if she is a feminist is like telling a man he can t wear sweatpants at all if
he is a businessman. Another is that feminism is about making women more powerful than men. This
is not at all true, for feminism is about equality and not saying women are superior. Samantha Wood, a
feminist, comments on this saying, Since when do women have to be more powerful and more
appreciated? (Wood 2) These both go back to the point of people only believing what they hear and
not investigating issues for themselves. A lot more people (including anti feminists) would probably
support feminism on the spot if it was called something like equalism. (Wood 1) Now that the

Beginning with the newly founded nation: America, many colonial people encountered illnesses they
have never been subjected to. Despite the different times in history, there is a similarity that is still
ongoing today. Those who have little income or live in rural settings have trouble obtaining the health
they need when an illness occurs. Hospitals are either too far to reach in time or the bills are too
expensive to pay. Now, there are countries who offer free health care but it does not pertain to the land
of America. America is based on money, and the old ways of paying back someone through bales of
wheat or firewood just will not cut it.
There were doctors in Colonial America. When a doctor visits a patient to check upon the sick person

poor people. The poor people did not have money as stated in A Visit to a Colonial Times Doctor s

everything was split, and it tore everything apart, families. races, and everything elce you can think of.
however, one of the things that drove the apartheid government away was music.
Music reminded people that they should unite with each other again instead of splitting apart. Francois

he started to change sirtain laws. he divided people into four groups, whites blacks. cullered and

Child Labour During The Industrial Revolution
During the time of the Industrial Revolution there was great suffering amongst the working class.
Extreme human labour was forced upon the workers to keep the Industrial Revolution alive. Many
examples of this can be seen through the living conditions, the rights of the workers and child labour.
The quality of life back in the time of the revolution was very poor, as people were expected to work
strenuously for long periods. Time to eat food was at a minimum as children worked from 5am 8pm
with only a 30min break for lunch (My Learning, 2014). The cities, where the vast population lived,
were unclean and heavily populated (Lambert, 2014). With the cities building so quickly, there was a
lack of building regulations which meant that the poor population lived in very small, simple,
rundown shacks (Lambert, 2014). Most families lived in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Factories where children worked housed some menacing machines, working fast enough to easily
dismantle small limbs (Eastern Illinois University, 2014). The young workers breathed in dangerous
chemicals which often led to illnesses and disease (Eastern Illinois University, 2014). In addition,
children were paid very low wages considering their working hours (Burnette, 2008). This can be seen
in Figure 3.1 (Burnette, 2008). The tough labour can be seen through stories of child labour. For
example, an eleven year old girl, Ellison Jack, who worked in a mine during the Industrial Revolution,
had to push a tub, which weighed over 200kg, on twenty journeys every day and would be whipped if
she slackened off (History Learning Site, 2014). In the absence of regulation, the evil tends to
increase, said Sidney Webb, who was a British socialist, about child labour (Nardinelli, 1980). The
enormous amount of child labour proves that the Industrial Revolution was built on

The Bible And The Hebrew Bible
As an individual who finds great personal value in the Scriptures, Brettler provides permission to look
at passages from different angles and perspectives. Consequently, a conclusion must be made that one
can not put ancient literature into a neat and tidy this is what the Bible is saying so it must be true box.
There are many parts of the Hebrew Bible that are strange to read. If many were lived out today, it
would ostracize people, and to be blunt, land someone in prison. However, all of these passages are
included in this great book, the Hebrew Bible, for a reason. They were important to the Jewish culture
whom they were written for. Why were they important to the Jewish culture in the Ancient Near East
World? Can they bring value to us today? Is it possible to accurately declare that everything in the
Hebrew Bible can be exegetically figured out , with no unanswered questions, or unresolved
mysteries? Of course not. By asking questions, challenging preconceived notions, and examining
whether passages in the Hebrew Bible are mythological or fact, one is not agreeing to a predetermined
diminishment of personal spiritual and faith principles derived from the Scriptures. Overall, this book
provides a thoughtful approach to introducing readers to the Historical Critical method, how to utilize
it when studying the Hebrew Bible, and why it will bring greater value to those learning from the
Scriptures. Consideration is clearly made for the certainty that

Margrieter Vs. New Hotel
The five elements of negligence that apply to the case of Mr. Margrieter V. New Hotel
Monteleone, Inc are Duty, breach, cause in effect, proximal cause and harm (damage suffered as a
proximal result of the defendant s breach of duty). Duty refers to an obligation one has to another
party. If duty constrains and channels behavior in a socially responsible way (Owen, 2007), then the
Hotel Menteloene has a duty to take reasonable measures to protect its guests from harm. Breach, an
improper act or omission, can also be viewed as an element that exists in this case.
The hotel did not provide adequate security, as it did not replace the security personnel that had called
in sick. It is particularly a breach if the hotel has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hotel uses Mr. Margrieter s lack of clear memory of the events as a defense and his inability to
return to New Orleans to identify his attackers as another defense, as he was stable enough to fly home
to Denver for a Craniotomy (brain surgery). However, it does not require much in the way of mental
capacity to take a flight on a commercial airline. A severe head injury and the subsequent
recovery period after the brain surgery are limiting enough. The lack of evidence of the two men
abducting Mr. Margrieter is perhaps the strongest argument the hotel can use. Without such evidence,
it is difficult to prove that the actions of the hotel, such as inadequate security and failure to follow
procedure in locking the freight elevator, led to Mr. Margrieter s injury. Without evidence, cause in
fact and proximal cause are hard to prove.

Teenagers Vs Teenagers
Off the top of your head you may think life as a teenager is about the same no matter what generation
you are from, but that is not the case. Although there are definitely similarities, there are many
differences. A teen from the late eighty s, my parents generation, would feel a little awkward living as
a teen in 2017, my generation, and vice versa. Things like ways of communicating, fashion, and
money in my generation are very different than they were during my parents generation. Zip click
click click click. Zip click click click click. That was the sound my parents landlines made as they
dialed their friends phone numbers. Communication in the eighty s was much different than it is today.
They couldn t just send quick texts to whoever they wanted to whenever they wanted to like we can. If
they wanted to call and talk to someone, they had to be somewhere where they had access to a phone
and couldn t move very far. When they wanted to ask their friend across the classroom about their
plans after school, rather than pulling out their cell phone, they would write down a note on a piece of
paper. They then had their peers pass it around until it made it to their friend. To stay in contact with
family and friends who lived far away, besides calling for an additional fee, they would sit down with
some stationary and a pencil and write them letters. Communicating is a lot simpler for teens
nowadays than it was for teens in the late eighty s. According to pewinternet.org,

Should Flag Desecration Be Allowed
Protesting is one of the many freedoms of being an American citizen. Although there are freedoms, I
believe flag desecration shouldn t be allowed as a form of protest. Flag desecration should not be
allowed because it is very disrespectful toward our veterans and our country, and it shows how you
abuse your rights and freedoms as a citizen. Veterans fight and die for the freedoms and rights that the
people of the United States have which is why one should never disrespect an American veteran.
Veterans fight for that flag everyday of their lives because war sticks with them forever. If you are
disrespecting the American flag, then you are disrespecting our veterans. Flag desecration can affect
some veterans and hurt them a lot. When they realize they fought for and protected people that don t
give anything back to them but disrespect, it can hurt a lot. Flag desecration not only shows disrespect
towards our veterans, but it shows disrespect towards our whole country. ... Show more content on

Although they are protesting , them burning the flag shows a lot of disrespect towards our country as a
whole. Our country has gone through a lot of hard times in the past that considered flag burning like
the Civil Rights movement or the Vietnam War. I believe that if you are a citizen of the United States
and you are given rights and freedoms, then you shouldn t disrespect the people that allow you to have
those freedoms and rights. It also disrespect our country because it makes us look bad as a whole to
other countries out there like Russia and middle eastern countries. Abusing your rights and freedoms
by burning the American flag should have a punishment whether you re protesting or

Summary Of The Schizophrenics
After watching the video The Schizophrenics, there were several viewpoints and items mentioned that
correspond to previous class discussions, as well as the information provided in the textbook.
Schizophrenia is demarcated as a group of disorders, generally so disabling, that they are highly
ranked in psychological breakdowns. The severity of the symptoms is so extreme that many
schizophrenics were always hospitalized thus, encouraging continuous development in the etiology
and treatment of this disorder.
When describing schizophrenia, it appears that the statement they seem to be in another world is an
accurate depiction of how the symptoms manifest themselves. This is suggested due to the
identification of a gross distortion of reality, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The discovery that antipsychotic drugs that blocks D2 receptors suggest that the abnormalities within
the brain are being corrected to some extent. Thus, giving more support to the biological viewpoint.
Additionally, family studies used to support the heredity theory have largely contributed to the
biological point of view as well, but have also raised the question of environmental influences.
Additionally, the various findings on environmental stressors (e.g. new adult stressors) as a causal
factor of schizophrenia have led me to question what lies at the root of schizophrenia. This is largely
related to what we are learning due to the importance surrounding etiology; however, it also gives rise
to the potential of schizophrenia needing a multi theoretical approach. For these reasons, I do not think
that there is one fully supported cause of schizophrenia and the etiology of this disorder can be best
explained through various theories. This also led me to question how can various perspectives come
together and conduct research that would speak to each viewpoint to generate more fruitful findings,
and which points of view should be included and

The First Great Awakening and Second Great Awakening both transformed religious ideology by introducing individualism, a belief where men have a closer and direct relationship with God. The First and Second Great Awakenings had a transformation in their methods of worship with a change in venue, with the First Great Awakening having people preach to the masses on the street corners outside; while in the Second Great Awakening, having revivals and camp meetings with people screaming and jumping, a change from the traditional, to a wholly new method of worship. Jonathan Edwards, a Congregationalist minister in western Massachusetts, who was shocked at the dissipating religious spirit, believing that people were giving up to sinful pleasures. He worked against the secularization of the Enlightenment and focus on pushing the emotional side of religion by expressing the wonderful nature of Heaven and the horror of Hell, helping to renew intensity behind religion. This idea of Heaven and Hell was stated in his sermon, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God , intended to scare people into looking for salvation, with descriptions of people being held over a fire in Hell. This is expressive of the change of social norms in Puritan New England, where going to the Minister s house as opposed to the Tavern was acceptable. This also shows the more individualized ideals people had, for they were presented with the option of achieving their own salvation and take responsibility for their lives, having the option of maintaining a personal connection with God. He went to the University of Paris in 1523 (it was not unusual to attend university at so young an age), where he learned Latin from the humanist Mathurin Cordier. He developed a strong love of languages and earned his Master of Arts in 1528 in theology. Then, in 1532, Calvin experienced a spiritual conversion. It was typical of Calvin that he gives us virtually no details of this crucial moment in his life. In contrast with Luther, who is extensively autobiographical, Calvin wrote merely that he had experienced a sudden conversion, and we must be satisfied with that ( The Reformation: Calvin. The Reformation: Calvin. N.p., n.d. Web. 04 Sept. 2015.). John Calvin is not at the last place level on an equivalence with Martin Luther as the inventor of the Reformation. Actually, Luther s followers produced a formal church; however, Calvin s followers created several churches; to name a few the French Huguenots, the English Puritans, the Scottish Presbyterians, and the Dutch Reformed Church. In fact, Calvin had an outstanding way to the German lands, and Luther had a large influence in Western Europe, however, you will not stray incorrectly by going to see Calvin s influence in the churches west of the Rhine River, and Luther s hand in the churches east of the Rhine. While economic growth may lead to an increase in the purchasing power of people, if the country has a repressed economy, there is lack of choice and hence personal freedom in restricted. Hence once again growth has taken place without any development. While economic growth may result in an improvement in the standard of living of a relatively small proportion of the population whilst the majority of the population remains poor. It is how the economic growth is distributed amongst the population that determines the level of development. Thus, the gap between the rich and poor widens and though economic growth has impacted a certain section of society, this cannot be considered development. Autocracy Liberty vs. Security; both are seemingly broad terms, but due to current events, circumstances have occured resulting in an infringement on liberty because of issues regarding national security thus, creating problems for citizens and politicians alike. Liberty is best defined as a concept that identifies the condition in which an individual has the right to act according to his/her free will[1]. Security is the degree of protection from danger, loss, or criminals[2]. In certain events, extreme security is needed, and should be completely justified. In order to establish what is right or wrong without corruption, the public should have the final say on what needs to happen because they are ultimately the ones who will be affected by these new enforcements. Similar to presidential elections, a national vote should happen during a time of peace, on what precautions the government needs to take during these stressful time periods. The purpose of the election is to get an adequate sample of what the citizens believe their ratio of security to liberty is. A difference would be the removal of the Electoral College. Instead of having the views censored by elected officials, it needs to be the raw wishes of the population. The significance of having it during peace time would be that during emergencies, people get frantic and desperate. Decisions would inevitably be clouded by fear and overall craziness. Ben Franklin once said that, Passion never governs wisely, and this certainly holds true to a person s reaction during war or difficult moments. Because kelp has been proven to increase growth, health, and flowering, it may be the reason why the experimental zinnias had more success than the control. The synthetic auxin found in SUPERthrive, indole 3 bytric acid, may be a key player in the benefits of SUPERthrive, if there are any. For example, indole 3 acetic acid (IAA), the main auxin in higher plants, has been found to have positive effects on plant growth and development. Auxin is able to stimulate differential growth, specifically in response to gravity or light stimuli. Another important aspect of auxin is its ability to detect developmental defects caused by auxin deficiency. With SUPERthrive having indole 3 bytric acid as one of its main ingredients, there should be some benefits from its use (Zhao, 2010). • 27. Carbon Monoxide Pollution Background Since the Industrial Revolution, there has been an increased presence of pollutants and carcinogens in the environment, specif ically in urban areas.1 The presence of airborne pollutants can lead to an increase in allergic reactions and asthma rates. A common airborne pollutant is carbon monoxide (CO), which is commonly found in diesel exhaust. It is an odorless gas produced from me thane and non methane hydrocarbon oxidation.2 The toxic gas eliminates and takes the place of oxygen in the form of carboxy hemoglobin when it binds to hemoglobin in red blood cells. It also affects the binding sites of heme groups, which complicates the transfer of oxygen to tissues.3 The majority of deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning is brought on from car exhaust.4 Between the years 1979 and 1988, 57% of deaths from carbon monoxide poi soning were brought from car exhaust. There tend to be higher rates of carbon monoxide poisoning from car exhaust in northern regions, where temperatures are relatively low (Figure 1). 5 A way to approach the elimination of carbon monoxide from car exhaust is through the use of organometallic catalysts. Through the use of a catalyst, a reaction can occur at a faster rate and at lower activation energy. Said catalysts serve are of great commercial interest because they essentially convert simple mole cules into more complex ones.6 Unlike homogeneous catalysts, heterogeneous catalysts are not in the same phase as how the reac tion is occurring. Because of this, the catalysts are considered to be cheaper and easier to obtain. It is also considered more envi ronmentally friendly to use.6 7 Selective heterogeneous catalysis can be performed in terms of oxidation and reduction. A typical reduction reaction would re quire an oxidation agent and the use of certain intermediates, just like the catalytic reduction reaction for the dehydration of ethanol (Scheme 1). The reaction uses solid acids, such as group A salts, as catalysts and said catalysts are heated in order to convert etha nol to ethylene. The heterogeneous reaction is known as an acid catalyzed, or bulk type (I) catalysis, reaction. 8 Proof of Concept When it comes to eliminating toxic components of car exhaust, there ... Cognitive Theory Of Flashbulb Memory Cognitive level of analysis aimed to study how cognitive process guide behaviour, as such, emotion has been concerned with its cognitive influence with this level of analysis. The theory of Flashbulb Memory is one theory of how emotion may have impact on cognitive process of memory. The theory of flashbulb memory was suggested by Brown and Kulik. Flashbulb memory is a special kind of emotional memory, which refers to vivid and detailed memories of highly emotional events that paper in the brain as though with the help of a camera s flash. Flashbulb memory can be defined as a highly accurate and exceptionally vivid memory of a moment. The theory of flashbulb memory therefore distinguished flashbulb memories from the normal memories, as the flashbulb memories are more vivid, detailed, accurate, long lasting and easily to remember, whereas the normal memories are believed to be mostly unreliable and easily distorted. Brown and Kulik also suggested that, there may be a special neural mechanism in the brain which triggers an emotional arousal because that event is unexpected or extremely important. This essay is aiming to evaluate the theory of flashbulb memory by using studies that support this theory and studies that oppose this theory so that the validity of the theory can be revealed. The flashbulb memory was firstly demonstrated in Brown and Kulik s study in 1977. Their study has been a supporting evidence for the theory of flashbulb memory. The aim of their study was to investigate flashbulb memory. Eighty Americans were interviewed, forty of them were African Americans and the other forty of them were Caucasian American. They had to answer ten questions about ten events and nine of the events were mostly on assassination of well known Americans, the last one question was self selected of personal events that included self shock). Then they were asked how much they have rehearsed the events overtly and covertly. Overt rehearse means discussing the event with others, covert rehearse means private rehearsal. The result showed that J. F. Kennedy s assassination in 1963 was remembered most vividly among the participants. It also showed that African Americans has more flashbulb memories of civil right ... Often times these heroes have very little or no flaws, such is the case with the Hindu hero Rama. On the other hand, some heroes have many virtuous attributes to them, while still containing flaws, creating a more realistic and achievable hero, such as with Odysseus. Both of these heroes represent the principles that were valued from their respective cultures of origin; therefore, the heroes themselves are representations of the society during the time of their (the heroes) creation. These heroes serve as guides to how the people of their respective cultures try to lead their lives, which makes Perfect heroes problematic for people who try to follow their actions. ... Despite their differences, both heroes share a common journey. Odysseus s journey takes place after the war, with Odysseus choosing to fight in the war for ten years, voluntarily leaving his family behind. This sounds like something good, right, making people equal no matter their gender. However, many people don t stop to do their own research and get caught up with what their friend or favorite youtuber says about feminism, and most of the time those people didn t do their research either. So, there are many misconceptions people make of feminism. For example, some women are told they cannot be feminists because they like girly things, such as makeup and fashion. However, it does not require much in the way of mental capacity to take a flight on a commercial airline. A severe head injury and the subsequent recovery period after the brain surgery are limiting enough. The lack of evidence of the two men abducting Mr. Margrieter is perhaps the strongest argument the hotel can use. Without such evidence, it is difficult to prove that the actions of the hotel, such as inadequate security and failure to follow procedure in locking the freight elevator, led to Mr. Margrieter s injury. Without evidence, cause in fact and proximal cause are hard to prove. Owen, D. (2007). The Five elements of negligence. Hoefstra Law Review, 35(4). • 42. Teenagers Vs Teenagers Off the top of your head you may think life as a teenager is about the same no matter what generation you are from, but that is not the case. Although there are definitely similarities, there are many differences. A teen from the late eighty s, my parents generation, would feel a little awkward living as a teen in 2017, my generation, and vice versa. Things like ways of communicating, fashion, and money in my generation are very different than they were during my parents generation. Zip click click click click. Zip click click click click. That was the sound my parents landlines made as they dialed their friends phone numbers. Communication in the eighty s was much different than it is today. They couldn t just send quick texts to whoever they wanted to whenever they wanted to like we can. If they wanted to call and talk to someone, they had to be somewhere where they had access to a phone and couldn t move very far. When they wanted to ask their friend across the classroom about their plans after school, rather than pulling out their cell phone, they would write down a note on a piece of paper. They then had their peers pass it around until it made it to their friend. To stay in contact with family and friends who lived far away, besides calling for an additional fee, they would sit down with some stationary and a pencil and write them letters. Communicating is a lot simpler for teens nowadays than it was for teens in the late eighty s. According to pewinternet.org, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Should Flag Desecration Be Allowed Protesting is one of the many freedoms of being an American citizen. Although there are freedoms, I believe flag desecration shouldn t be allowed as a form of protest. Flag desecration should not be allowed because it is very disrespectful toward our veterans and our country, and it shows how you abuse your rights and freedoms as a citizen. Veterans fight and die for the freedoms and rights that the people of the United States have which is why one should never disrespect an American veteran. Veterans fight for that flag everyday of their lives because war sticks with them forever. If you are disrespecting the American flag, then you are disrespecting our veterans. Flag desecration can affect some veterans and hurt them a lot. When they realize they fought for and protected people that don t give anything back to them but disrespect, it can hurt a lot. Flag desecration not only shows disrespect towards our veterans, but it shows disrespect towards our whole country. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although they are protesting , them burning the flag shows a lot of disrespect towards our country as a whole. Our country has gone through a lot of hard times in the past that considered flag burning like the Civil Rights movement or the Vietnam War. • 44. Summary Of The Schizophrenics After watching the video The Schizophrenics, there were several viewpoints and items mentioned that correspond to previous class discussions, as well as the information provided in the textbook. Schizophrenia is demarcated as a group of disorders, generally so disabling, that they are highly ranked in psychological breakdowns. The severity of the symptoms is so extreme that many schizophrenics were always hospitalized thus, encouraging continuous development in the etiology and treatment of this disorder. When describing schizophrenia, it appears that the statement they seem to be in another world is an accurate depiction of how the symptoms manifest themselves. This is suggested due to the identification of a gross distortion of reality, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The discovery that antipsychotic drugs that blocks D2 receptors suggest that the abnormalities within the brain are being corrected to some extent. Thus, giving more support to the biological viewpoint. Additionally, family studies used to support the heredity theory have largely contributed to the biological point of view as well, but have also raised the question of environmental influences. Additionally, the various findings on environmental stressors (e.g. new adult stressors) as a causal factor of schizophrenia have led me to question what lies at the root of schizophrenia. This is largely related to what we are learning due to the importance surrounding etiology; however, it also gives rise to the potential of schizophrenia needing a multi theoretical approach. For these reasons, I do not think that there is one fully supported cause of schizophrenia and the etiology of this disorder can be best explained through various theories. This also led me to question how can various perspectives come together and conduct research that would speak to each viewpoint to generate more fruitful findings, and which points of view should be included and ...
