Behavior Modification Project
I chose to modify my slight procrastination of school work and also utilize the time I am working
more efficiently. Although I do not procrastinate with my school work to often I felt that it was
enough for me to decide to use this behavior modification project to further reduce my tendency to
procrastinate, especially with the work load I have encountered this term. Procrastinationis
essentially defined as putting off important tasks or work until the last minute and trying to
complete the work in a very small amount of time. While I was working on reducing my
procrastination I decided it would be a good opportunity to improve my time while working on
homework or studying. Furthermore, I found that reducing my procrastination was quite simple but
it did require... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, classical conditioning and cue routine reward was also a big part of this project
to not only motivate me prior to work, but also to keep me motivated during and after work. The
classical conditioning was playing music prior to any time I was going to be doing school
work, weather it was on my way to each class, before homework, or before studying. The cue to
trigger my brain to prepare to do school work was certain music, and the routine was playing it
for 10 minutes prior to any school work, and the reward was getting better grades on quizzes,
exams, and homework for all of my classes. By using certain songs and listening to them
specifically when I wanted to sit down and work I noticed I was starting to become conditioned
after a couple days of using the technique. I also noticed that as time went on this connection
became stronger and stronger, and to be even more specific I noticed that certain songs had more of

Assessment And Treatment Of Adductor Spasmodic Dysphonia
Assessment and Treatment of Adductor Spasmodic Dysphonia Julia Mangum East Carolina
University Assessment and Treatment of Adductor Spasmodic Dysphonia Adductor spasmodic
dysphonia (ADSD) is a voice disorder due to central motor processing abnormalities which result in
decreased control of the laryngeal muscles (Blitzer, 2010). The idiopathic disorder is characterized
by involuntary spasms of the laryngeal muscles controlling vocal fold adduction (National
Spasmodic Dysphonia Association, 2012). The dysphonic characteristics presented by patients with
ADSD are described as strained, strangled, and effortful due to irregular adductions of the vocal
folds and the occlusion of air through the vocal tract during phonation(Blitzer,2010; Cannito,
Doiuchi, Murry Woodson, 2012). Patients with muscle tension dysphonia (MTD) present with
similar perceptual vocal characteristics however, treatment for the two disorders is quite different.
Speech language pathologists often have difficulty diagnosing and distinguishing between ADSD,
a neurological disorder, and MTD, a functional voice disorder (Rees et al., 2007). Correct
diagnosis is important and objective measures, such as spectral analysis, are more sufficient in
distinguishing the two disorders(Rees et al., 2007). ADSD has a neurologic etiology but the exact
cause is still unknown (Lee et al., 2003). Tanner et al. (2009) identified mumps, meningitis, tremor,
cancer, and convulsive behaviors as factors that

Ringworm Essay
Ringworms is a contagious fungal infection that occasionally occurs on the surface of people or
animals skin. Ringworms can also be called tinea corporis. Children, athletics, and people who
change in locker rooms, are the most commonly people that can get affected by this infection.
People who has weakened immune system have more problem fighting off ringworms. Pets can
also have ringworminfection. People believe that ringworms is an infection that has something to
do with real worms, but we know that this is a fungal infection and has nothing to do with real
worms, it is just a rash on the surface of the skin, that is shaped like a ring. This infection can be
track back to at least 1800s, because the population of this infection was so little, and doctors did
not know how to cure it or what was causing it. This infection was more commonly on poor people,
this people were the most infected, because the lack of hygiene. As we know this infection is not
only common on humans, also on animals. Although the ringworm infection has been around for a
long time, most studies were not conducted on ringworm until men in the military began to get it
during World War II. The humid conditions in the South Pacific were responsible for the soldiers
contracting this infection of ringworm. In the 1900s doctors... Show more content on

The Disasters The Days Of Grace Analysis
In this passage, the author encourages writers to use memories from their childhoods, specifically
from holidays, as material for their writing. Holidays are a good place to start when remembering
your childhood. They are often memorable. People often take pictures, which can also trigger
memories. Remembering a detail about someone or seeing a picture of them can lead to even more
memories. This can help the writer recall another event that is harder to remember, but had a
greater impact on them.
Holidays are often joyful, but can sometimes lead to anger or embarrassment. This is shown by
the quote the disasters, the days of grace . The bittersweetness of the holidays makes good material
for writing. The author mentions those terrible petaled swim caps, the men s awful trunks . This
shows disappointment in her own family. She believes that her family members are clueless and is
embarrassed by them. Additionally, she draws a contrast between her cousins Brownie uniforms
and her own. This exemplifies her belief that people are constantly judging her. Something as minor
as an untidy uniform can set off her low self esteem.
The author says to write down what the grown ups said and did after they d had a couple of dozen
drinks . After drinking, people say things that they usually would have kept to themselves. This can
create ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This sentiment creates pleasant memories and can inspire beautiful pieces of writing (such as The
Gift of the Magi). On the other hand, if something was wrong, for example, if the writer s family
was having financial troubles and couldn t afford a good present, the memory could be bittersweet.
The joy of Christmas combined with the sadness of being unable to afford a good present could
also inspire some very heartfelt

General Assembly Case Study
This year marks a pivotal point in the history of state government, and that s not because the
General Assembly might fall completely under the control of the Republicans. What is taking place
is something more basic: the departure of an entire generation of lawmakers who have been in
control of the legislative branch of government for nearly four decades.
For more than 30 years the General Assembly leadership was dominated by a group of Democratic
legislators who were first elected around the time that the county unit system was struck down in
1962 and the legislature was drastically changed by reapportionment. These lawmakers from mostly
rural districts, headed by longtime House Speaker Tom Murphy, piled up unmatched influence by

Julian Bond from Atlanta (although white members of the House initially refused to seat Bond
because of his opposition to the Vietnam War). That redistricting also carved out several legislative
districts in Atlanta that resulted in the election of Republican lawmakers like Mike Egan, Guy Hill,

Southern Black Women
Since the enslavement of blacks, black women have played an integral role in mothering America s
population, both literally and figuratively. During slavery, slave masters often impregnated slaves
for two reasons: to further populate their own plantation or to prepare to sale them to make a profit.
About 100 years later, though slaveryhad ended, a majority of black women found work by
working as a maid, also known as the help, for wealthy white families. As part of their job, black
women were often the sole caretakers of the children. In these jobs, black women in the South
served as a cook, housekeeper, nursemaid, or some combination of the three. By analyzing the role
of southern black women as mothers, two specific things are revealed: black southern mothers are
forced to live a twofold complicated life and they serve as the cornerstone for both white and black
southern households. In recognizing these two things, there is a better understanding of the vital
role that black women play in the American South.
Beginning during slavery, black women have never only mothered just their own children. They
were required to care for the slave masters children, while also mothering entire populations. In the
early 1900s, these responsibilities were still present, only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Kite Runner And Oedipus Rex Comparison Essay
As I read The Kite Runner and Oedipus Rex I came to a realization that both the books were very
graphic. In The Kite Runner I discovered that Hassan had been raped by Assef, and Amir had no
intentions to stop what was happening to stand up for his best friend. That gruesome experience
can translate to what happened in OedipusRex. In Oedipus Rex, Oedipus wife, Jocasta, winds up
killing herself knowing that she married her son, but that s not it. At the very end of the book
Oedipus stabs himself in the eyes out. Those horrific images only happened due to the theme
betrayal and not being able to step up and say the truth until it s too late.
In the book The Kite Runner, Amir ruined Hassan and his friendship because he was too much
of a coward. Amir was considered a coward and even called himself a coward in the book due to
the fact he was afraid to stand up for his friendship when Hassan needed him the most. As
Hassan was in the alley getting raped by Assef, Amir says, I stopped watching, turned away from
the alley...I could step into the alley, stand up for Hassan and accept whatever would happen to
me. Or I could run. In the end, I ran (Hosseini 77). Amir in this situation thought about himself
and instead of standing up for Hassan like Hassan has always done for him, Amir chooses to not
help. He was too scared to get hurt. The reason Amir did not go help Hassan was because he was
too worried on finding Baba. Growing up Baba never gave him the attention or

Conflict Management Lessons
The lessons of conflict management and emotions I have been taught in class have helped me
tremendously this year. Overall it has been a successful strategy to be able use the techniques of
conflict management in my life. Awareness plays a key role for me personally and the conflict
management skills have only fortified that attribute. The focuses of creating safety during crucial
conversations, using a healthy displacement of emotions, and the true understanding where people
come from, have efficiently aided me in pursuing a more sustainable personal life. A crucial
conversation is a conversation where emotions run strong and the stakes are high. I have
experienced many of them this year. One reason for this is because I am a senior in high schooland

inside and slowly take away health. No football I have begun to use a new way of displacement:
Boxing. I have invested in a pair of Everlast boxing gloves and a heavy bag. This has proven to
be one of the best monetary investments of my life. Anytime I get frustrated or even bored I go
to my garage and just punch it out. I am positive it is drastically healthier than keeping my
emotions housed inside my body. All in all these conflict management techniques have effectively
reinforced the positivity in my life. The more people who become exposed to these lessons, the
better a place the world becomes. The best part about it is that anybody who is willing to utilize
these skills can utilize them. Everyone can learn to love

Forsaken Promises
What does the future hold? What will happen at the end of the age? Will the church be raptured up
into Heaven or will the church remain on Earth? Are the Jews still God s chosen people? Has the
church replaced Israel? These and other questions have been asked since Jesus left Earth and
ascended into Heaven. Since that day Christians have been looking and longing with eager
anticipation for the return of Christ. The study of the return of Christ, or last things, is known as
Eschatology, and within Eschatology there are several schools of thought concerning the Church
and Israel. These schools of thought are known as Covenant and Dispensational Theology. Two

Boice writes, In the OT there is the creation of an ekklesia, an assembly of those who are called
out of a normal relationship to the world in order to be a special people of God. The church is
not Plan B in God s plan of salvation but rather was hinted at in the OT through the calling out of
Abraham and Israel but was not fully realized until the NT. Blaising argues this point when he
writes, The church is seen less and less as a parenthesis in the divine program. Instead it is seen as
vitally linked to and comprehended in the plan of God revealed in the Old Testament. The sharp line
which is drawn between the Church and Israel is dulled within PD as this view attempts to
harmonize the two Testaments into one unifying work of God throughout all of history.
TD views the church as in a parenthetical relationship with God and His plan for Israel. TD taught
that the offer to the kingdom of Israel was genuine, but it was also conditional and contingent on the
nations response, when Israel choose to reject the Messiah, the offer of Jesus Christ was offered to
the Gentiles and the kingdom did not immediately appear but was postponed. TD argue that had the
Israelites accepted the Messiah the Kingdom would have begun immediately, however, since Israel
rejected Jesus the offer went to the Gentiles. Therefore, since

Going Solo Roald Dahl Summary
Going Solo, Roald Dahl s memoir of his work in East Africa and his service in the RAF, covers
the buildup to World War II and his involvement in it. In the book mention is made of the Suez
Canal. The Suez Canal plays a large role in the memoir as an important place when he crossed to
Africa. In 1854 Ferdinand de Lesseps, a French former diplomat, persuaded the Viceroy of Egyptto
permit the construction of a shipping canal through the 100 miles of desert between Africaand Asia.
A prospectus was circulated and on December 20, 1858 the Universal Company of the Suez
Maritime Canal was constituted. It was officially opened in November 1869 although the Suez
Canalwasn t officially completed. Its length is 193,30 km, including its northern and southern

Advertising Must Change Long-Term Memory

hypotheses were developed: ads with higher affective content would have higher recognition and
recall, and subjects treated with [beta] blockers (Propranolol), which interact with those brain

How that memory change is achieved, and how to measure it, are less understood. Advertisers
have long used recognition and recall measures though they have been challenged (Gibson,
1983; Lodish et al., 1995; Percy and Rossiter, 1997). The mainstream of advertising research
rests on cognition as the primary factor of memory change. Advertising has been thought to need
a unique selling proposition, new news, a logical association, or to remind consumers of
memories already in place. The smaller and more recent stream focuses on affect, such as liking
the ad (Biel, 1990; Haley and Baldinger, 1991; Joyce, 1991). This research used [beta] blockers
experimentally to test the impact of affect on the formation of ad memories, as measured by recall
and recognition. The ingestion of [beta] blockers inhibits the experience of emotion though they do
not remove the subject s ability to recognize emotion in the stimulus (Greenblatt et al., 1993; Cahill
et al., 1994). They have no impact on attention nor cognitive

Persuasive Essay On Yellowstone National Park
Yellowstone National Park, untamed wild beauty. Stunning landscapes, beautiful waterfalls and
rivers, breathtaking wildlife, and geothermal activity all come together to make Yellowstone an
amazing place. People come from all over the world to witness the beauty of Yellowstone. It is a
regulated national park for a reason, it is so amazing, so beautiful, so spectacular to not preserve
it. It hosts bison, elk, deer, bald eagles, bears, moose, beavers, and amazing trout rivers,
everything a perfect mountain ecosystem should hold. However now there is something else,
something that is natural, was removed but has now returned, flourishing and benefiting its
surroundings. Wolves, have been reintroduced into Yellowstone and have greatly benefited the
area. These wolves have started a positive and beneficial renewal in the park. The reintroduction
of wolves into Yellowstone National Park is beneficial because they created and natural and
beneficial trophic cascade, other animals in the park benefited from the wolves, and because the
land was able to regrow and flourish due to the wolves presence. Since the reintroduction of
wolves into Yellowstone they have created an astounding and advantageous trophic cascade. A
trophic cascade is an ecological phenomenon triggered by the addition or removal of top
predators and involving reciprocal changes in the relative populations of predator and prey
through a food chain. These often result in dramatic changes in ecosystem structure and nutrient
cycling. In a three level food chain, an increase (or decrease) in carnivores causes a decrease (or
increase) in herbivores and an increase (or decrease) in primary producers such as plants and
phytoplankton according to briticanna (how to make better). The entire ecosystem was able to
become whole again because the wolves, a key species, were reintroduced. Now this may seem
weird, a predator comes into the area a begins to kill animals, how can this be beneficial in any
way? Well the fact of the matter is that it is extremely beneficial. The reason being the problem
in Yellowstone was the overpopulation of the elk. These elk had no predators, they were free to
roam and reproduce, and they did this very well. Now elk are also a

other. In the story of Damon Pythias, they were two noble men who had the strongest, most loyal
friendship in all of Syracuse. The tone in this story would have to be awestruck. I say it s
awestruck because it shows it when it says, In reply, however, Damon merely smiled, since, in
spite of the fact that the eleventh hour had already arrived, he still believed that his lifelong
companion would not fail him. Even when, a short time later, he was actually led out to the site
of his execution, his serenity remained the same (Russell 70). I felt awestruck describes this
passage because it s amazing to see how Damon believes in Pythias. Even at the peak of his
execution, Damon still was smiling because he knew Pythias wouldn t let him down and it s

About how two best friends who stick by each other through anything and everything. I say that
the overall idea of the story is about the power of friendship because in the story it says,
Dionysius, the hardhearted tyrant, however, would not believe Pythias promise to return and
would not allow him to leave unless he left behind him a hostage, someone who would be put to
death in his place if he should fail to return within the stated time. Pythias immediately thought of
his friend Damon (Russell 24). I chose this quote for the theme because I think it fits with the
power of friendship because Pythias knew that Damon would hands down, without a doubt, do it
for his best friend. Pythias could ve possibly chosen someone else for the job, like someone else in
Syracuse but instead he chose his best

Exploring Coral Springs s Theory Of Public Spaces
Scholars describes Public Spaces as, Spaces that are open and accessible to every person in a
society, in particular its citizens (Chen, Orum, and Paulsen 22). The place I call home is Coral
Springs, Florida it has a variety of public spaces available to the community with open access.
The public spaces utilized in my community are locations such as the local parks, gymnasium,
open fields, and a variation of other location. These locations are either in walking or driving
distance of my neighborhood. Coral Springs has a majority of the location that require
transportation to reach a destination because of the wide mass of public space available. There is

The locations I mention promote democracy and freedom of speech. The places I provided do
not infringe on social issues, but opens up dialogue between individuals. By having public
outlets such as the Coral Springs Museum of Art, it keeps democratic rights flourishing.
Individuals in Coral Springs are exposed to different interpretation of art and this promotes
democratic spaces. The residents in Coral Springs get a strong feeling of community, when
public areas are accessible. This feeling of community makes the unit stronger and more unified
as a whole, when more places are public. By nurturing the community with accessible areas such
as local parks, gymnasium, open fields, or aquatic complexes creates a closer bond within the
community. Democracy has an important role within Coral Springs use of place by having
different location available and it becomes more heterogenetic. Open places in my community
such as the local parks create social constructions that evolve over time. This leads to a more
rebus democracy that can lead to equality. By having an open dialogue within the community it
forms democracy and creates a unified society. For example according to PPs.org, The rewards of
transforming a civic space into a great public place go way beyond just the space, although the
place in itself enriches the lives of its users and enhances its

As such, certain international bodies like the (IASB) International Accounting Standards Board
having perceived the need for this revolution, is spearheading the initiative to harmonize
international accounting standards worldwide. This paper seeks to analyze how developing

they are forced to accept accounting standards with no cost benefit to them, but solely to the
proponents of the standards, which for the most part is the West.

Compare And Contrast Huxley And Thomas Moore
How did Aldous Huxley and Thomas Moore approach the perfect society in their writings? They
each created a society vastly different from the prevailing one of their times.
Thomas More coined the word utopia from 2 Greek words ou meaning no or not and topos which
mean no place for his novel Utopia (Miriam Webster 2017). His novel Utopia written in 1516
was essay of current 16th century English society. Each author is a product of their times.
Thomas Moore lived during the Renaissance at a time just after the New World was discovered
and the printing press was invented. The world was alight with new ideas and Thomas More
thought these new ideas could lift the masses of Europe out of abject poverty. People whose only

One defining characteristic of the Utopian genre is that the societies require their citizens to
give up personal freedoms in exchange for economic and physical security. In Utopia all people
are equal and people voluntarily gave up those freedoms. Draconian laws protect a benevolent
state and therefore the population at large. People can be killed or enslaved for breaking the
rules. Utopia was ruled by a hierarchy of elected phylarchs within this classless society. The
author Thomas More contrasts the Utopia classless society with entrenched European class system
which is based on largely on heredity. In Brave New World the world is ruled by a supposed
benevolent ruling class. The population is subjugated through the Bokanovsky Process, Podsnap
Technique and Hypnopaedia. These processes condition people to be happy with their lot in life.
Both Authors define the common good from different perspectives. Both societies provide the
basics of the common good. People were fed, clothed and educated by society. They had easy
access to medical care and housing. To Thomas Moore the common good also meant to nourish the
mind. He believed in a society populated by an enlightened, happy and productive people. This
intelligent population was civically involved and helped rule the land. People used the free time

Walmart International And International Analysis
Walmart International Analysis Throughout the years, Walmart s strategy is being a great formula
of success in the United States and they kept growing in a way that there was nothing else to go
because the market was so saturated in America that if they wanted to grow and produce more
profits, they would have to do something else. Along with the saturation of the market, Walmart
realized that the American population was only 4% of the global population and there was 96% of
the population out from America that could be explored, and there were developing countries that
had a great potential to make profits to Walmart. Due to the saturation of the American market,
opportunity in developing countries to grow and most of the population of America, the most
natural way to keep growing and creating opportunities to grow in fact was going to do business
with international markets.
Then, in 1991, Walmart decided that they would expand to the international market and their first
target was their neighbor in North America, Mexico. In Mexico, they went a 50/50 joint venture
with Cifra group that was the leader chain in Mexico, and they had a great success there, and then
they bought more shares. Even though Walmart was a success in Mexico, does the Walmart
America s formula fit in every other culture? There are some examples that shows that their
strategies could be duplicated in other countries such as in Canada and Mexico, but most of their
experiences in foreign market shows that

Essay on The Visual Artist
The Visual Artist: Naturally Skilled or Skillfully Learned?
A Form of Expression Throughout time, people have developed different ways to express
themselves. Visual art has been around since the dawn of man, dating back to cave paintings in
ancient times. This form of expression has evolved from primitive etchings to beautiful, visually
stunning pieces of work open to interpretation by the general public. As time has passed, the skill
has become much more refined, and styles of art have constantly been changing. Because the skill
has become more refined, people can opt to major in visual art in college. This provides promising
artists a way to enhance their skill and do what they are passionate about. Although the classes ...

The students lifted large easels, wooden supports for their sketchpads, from the corner of the room
and set them up around the studio. David Titterington, the teacher that allowed me to observe his
drawing class, told me that his students would be drawing a nude model. According to him, the
reason why the students typically drew nude models was to draw form and shape in an organic,
natural state.
When everyone finished setting up their assortment of drawing pencils, erasers, and other
apparatuses quite foreign to me, David turned on relaxing music to set the mood. To get them in the
mindset of drawing, he required his students to stretch and partake in breathing exercises. In his
words, he wanted them to break through their neural blocks and align the hemispheres. This
allowed the artists to clear their minds and focus on the artwork at hand.
The artists then practiced various strokes on their gigantic sketchpads as a bit of a warm up to
drawing the model. I would equate this to any craft, like singing or even sports, where the person
has to warm up before actually doing his or her task. After about five minutes passed, the artists
were ready to sketch the nude model.

Thanks For Accepting Famousdebater And Good Luck My Friend
Thanks for accepting Famousdebater and good luck my friend!
Framework:
Based on the definitions given in round one, we see this debate rests on ethics. That is, whether the
individual or society is ethically paramount. Thus, it should be obvious that the framework for this
debate could only reasonably be set on how morality is determined. Once determined all that is left
is to apply ethics to our question.
An Intro To Ethics: Utilitarianism
Famousdebater and I Identify as Utilitarian s, and as it is widely accepted moral world view. Here
is a basic overview of utilitarian ethics.
Ethics delves into what ought to be rather than what is. Henry Sidgwick rightly points out a
typical flaw made when determining what ought to be done, or in other words, what is ethical.
we frequently prescribe that this or that `ought to be done or aimed at without any express
reference to an ulterior end, (1) As John Stuart Mill says All action is for the sake of some end.
In order to determine what we ought do we must observe what the results will be from that action.
What ends are produced? all the rules of conduct which men prescribe to one another as moral
rules are really though in part unconsciously prescribed as a means to the general happiness of
mankind, Henry Sidgwick (2)This is basic utilitarianism, The Greatest good for the greatest number.
As Utilitarianism is the ethic both my opponent and I subscribe to and is a sound moral philosophy,

Tartuffe Play Analysis
On Saturday, December 3rd at 4 pm, I watched the play Tartuffe at York College. Tartuffe is a
classic French play written by Moliere. It was originally named Tartuffe, ou I Imposteur . And it
was first performed in 1664. The play is a comedy that centers around the character Tartuffe who is
a hypocritical holy man. Throughout the play Moliere indirectly tackles many societal problems in
his time. The play starts in Orgon s house. Where him and his mother (Madame Pernelle) are having
a discussion about Tartuffe, who is a beggar and a holy man. The other members of this family

Social psychologist Kurt Lewin, devised a theory to explain the internal conflicts that humans
experience every day. Conflict is an unavoidable part of our daily lives. As adults we ve hopefully
learned to deal with conflict better than we did as children. Students have very little understanding
of how to deal with conflict whether it s between themselves and others or just within themselves.
Helping them realize that their conflicts are shared by everyone else can lessen the stress caused by
these conflicts.
There are 3 major types of conflicts that all of us confront. These are internal conflicts. They are
known as:
Approach Avoidance Conflict
Avoidance Avoidance Conflict
Approach Approach Conflict
(A fourth type of conflict is called Double Approach Avoidance. This occurs when there are two
choices both of which have attractive and unattractive aspects.)
What makes these conflicts a problem, in addition to not being able to have everything you want, is
that they can be very stressful, especially for children. It s

Requirements For Commission Management And Management
3.1.1Requirements for commission management
RBM is part of commission management and comes under the managerial responsibility of the
officer responsible for the commission. It is very important to ensure that the results based
monitoring system is based on the results model. The monitoring system must be possible to
provide information all the time on the following points:
пѓ whether and to what extent the measure is moving towards the objective in accordance with
the results model and the underlying assumptions;
пѓ whether the expected results as well as unexpected positive or negative results are being
generated;
пѓ what systematic management and strategic decisions can be identified for steering the measure;
пѓ to what extent the measure contributes to achieving overarching results, and
пѓ whether risks influence the achievement of results by the measure
3.1.2What needs to be monitored?
Impact
Impacts describe indirect benefits of our interventions. Our programme contributes to impact. The
main purpose of impact monitoring is to prove whether our interventions are bringing and will have
potential to bring the defined changes that has been agreed on programme objective.
Impact monitoring goes beyond output and outcome monitoring, but relies to a large extent on the
information generated by output and outcome monitoring. Impact monitoring is usually not done
regularly and it can be done through surveys. These surveys can be conducted internally by project

Churches In The Middle Ages
The fundamental teachings of Christianity count no place more holy than any other: Jesus himself
says, Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them
(Matthew 18:20, KJV). Throughout the middle Ages, Pilgrims sought to close the distance
between themselves and God by engaging in physical travel toward a spiritual goal. Before 1000
B.C. churches were simply built to allow villagers in their respective areas to be able to worship the
God they believed in. Starting with the Romanesque style, and later the Gothic style architecture,
churches began to become massive monuments built to house sculptures, be early tourism
destinations, and simply allow the people in growing cities to all worship at one central location.

With this information, one can finalize the actual formation of the structure by signals provided.
With the given 13C NMR we were allowed to determine the symmetry of the ring of our
molecule. The spectra had five distinct signals. Signal 1 and 2 with a reading of 129.40 and
130.86ppm respectively were longer than the other signals. With this one assume that there are
two of the same atom groups in signal 1 and 2 respectively. Which makes sense since after
discovering that we were dealing with aromatic structure and in an aromatic structure there are 6
carbons but we only see 4 carbon in our spectra that are close together this gives evidence that
both signal 1 and 2 are given off a signal for more one carbon in the same environment in the
aromatic structure. In addition, signal 3 and 4 at 134.69 ppm and 140.84 respectively were
further downfield than signal 1 and 2 because they were the closest carbons on the ring that were
next to an electronegative atom. According to the 13C NMR chemical shift table the ppm values
observed in signals 1 4 correlate to 150 120 for an aromatic structure which confirms with what
was observed in the IR spectra. Signal 5 with the highest ppm reading at 190.80ppm refers to the
functional group because it is the most downfield due to it being near an electronegative atom.
Also, compared to the other signals

A hazard is a situation that poses a level of threat to life, health, property, or environment. There
is a very big difference that helps prepare for a volcanic hazard and that is whether you are in a

There are other factors predicting and preparing wont help for. One is the type of volcanic hazard
such as a sudden pyroclastic flow is much more violent then a slow lava flow. With pyroclastics
you can only reduce the hazard by vacation but lava flows can be diverted and slowed down with
dam wall trenches and spraying water As they did in ice land on the 1973 Heimaey eruption which
started on 23 January.
Some times warning isn t enough because of peoples different circumstances and beliefs they
might not leave. One example is in Columbia in 1985 where they where warned but didn t listen
as they didn t think they would be affected and didn t trust the people telling them. About 20,000
people are feared dead after a volcanic eruption in northern Colombia. Four towns in the Andes
region are reported to have been buried when ash spewed out of the volcano, Nevado del Ruiz,
causing a mudslide. These people weren t told to evacuate until 2 hours before the major eruption
casing massive loss of life. The reason for this late call was because the country didn t trust the
people observing the volcano this meant the potential hazard was far greater then it should have
been ad the results where horrific. This is one example of how poor education and different
situation can greatly increase the hazard.

Born Poor And Smart By Angela Locke
In chapter sixteen, Social Class and Inequality the essays show different cases in which being
rich, poor, smart or middle class can affect a person. In the writings of Angela Locke in Born
Poor and Smart (338 339) Angela summarizes her life of what it was like growing up with a

battles with until the present time is feeling the privelage that can distinguish her from the rich
and the poor. Wealthy people never question their worth. They don t seem like they need to since
they were brought up with a golden spoon in their mouth, they feel as if they are better than
people. However, in my opinion someone like Angela Locke is the one that shouldn t question
her worth. She is the one who rose up against the odds and made something of herself and wasn t
handed everything in life. Class relations isn t only about having a monetary value. It also can be
about having a relationship to success. Angela says that My definition of success has something
to do with money, but everything to do with class. (339) To break that statement down, she doesn
t feel that she needs to only be rich, but have more class and social standing. However I don t
think that someone should compare themselves to another person. Just because one person is
more successful than another, it doesn t always mean they earned it like the one that worked their

because they know what it s like to be at the bottom, and the ones that come from wealth never

North Korea Famine
The North Korean agriculture industry was not just affected by these natural disasters. The political
and economic shift had also altered the situation in a negative way. Due to the over reliance on
imports such as pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and fuel, their basic needs for the agricultural
industry was not sustainable after a certain political shift. Once certain subsidies were taken off,
this had affected the whole industry immensely.
Politics and Policy
Certain scholars believe that poor decision making had driven North Korea to have suffered more
than what they should have pertaining to the famine situation. North Korea is held responsible for
the famine situation due to their failure on enforcing the right actions to dampen the damages by
the natural forces. The deliberated policy decisions on the refusal to undertake remedial action has

of this is seen through the etched policies which has placed them in a difficult situation to reverse
the policies. Resource management is crucial when it comes to combating famine. Should the
resources for the military is shifted towards improving the production of rations, it may help the
situation. However, with the current practices of military first, this is highly

Knowledge Is The Trunk Of A Tall Susquehanna Tree
Knowledge is a simple, two syllable, word that can have an infinite amount of branches extending
above the truck of a tall Susquehanna Tree and an infinite amount of roots extending below the tall
Susquehanna Tree. Knowledge is the main stronghold to an infinite amount of ideas, thoughts, and
theories. Knowledge is the main stronghold to the network of ways of knowing, just like how the
trunk of a tall Susquehanna Treeis the main stronghold to the network of branches and to the
network of roots that extends from the trunk of the tree. Without the trunk of the tall Susquehanna
Tree, the existence of the long beautiful branches will be eliminated, along with the beautiful green
leaves. Also without the trunk of the tall Susquehanna Tree,... Show more content on

Like a Susquehanna Tree, life is brought upon the tree with light and water. The light and water
travels throughout the Susquehanna Tree, the water is absorbed by the roots and the roots bring the
water to the trunk into the branches, while light is brought down by the leaves, into the branches,
through the trunk, and down into the roots. The trunk grows because of the roots and the branches,
just how the ways of knowing are the necessity to the obtainment of knowledge. Because of the
ways of knowing, such as, sense perception, memory, reason, language, emotion, faith,
imagination, and intuition, the areas of knowledge and our shared knowledge are being
acquired and expanded as they are being further investigated. The prescribed title displays a
wide range of ideas that the areas of knowledge are being used to give knowledge as the ways of
knowing and used to build and/or create the areas of knowledge. Both ways of knowing and areas
of knowledge intertwine with their own concepts and perspectives, like a Susquehanna Tree that
needs its branches and roots in order to have a strong trunk. The Arts, for example, as an area of
knowledge, uses a network of at least six ways of knowing, such as memory, sense perception,
intuition, imagination, faith, and emotion. Artists create and produce whatever is influencing them,
like most famous artists, they are influenced by events that happened in their lives, which made

Care team communication
It is imperative that all members of the care team are able to quickly and accurately communicate
the patients condition and needs to other members of the care team. Proper communication allows
for better monitoring of the patients condition and allows the providers and pharmacists to more
accurately assess the patients treatment needs. The implementation of electronic medical records
(EMR), as Nightingale Hospital is currently researching, has been shown to greatly improve care
team communication and patient outcomes by allowing easy, verifiable access to all the patients
records. Implementation of an EMR system will provide a necessary foundation for a great
improvement in staff and provider communication, resulting in improved outcomes for all patients,
including those undergoing anticoagulation therapy. Specifically regarding anticoagulation therapy,
EMR will allow other care team members, including other nurses, providers and pharmacists one
place to look for patient histories, allergies, lab and other results and monitor, potential drug
interactions and adjust medication levels with regard to patient specific needs. EMR will also allow
for more accurate medication administration through

Hour Bow Research Paper
The book Clothing and Fashion: American Fashion from Head to Toe defines Hourglass figure
as follows, The hourglass shape was a feature of woman s dress for most of the 19th century.
This shape included the rounded breasts, a slender waist, and padding the hips (Blanco 161).
After World War II Christian Dior had created what was known as the New Look, the look was
iconic for emphasising a woman s hourglass shaped figure, later becoming a worldwide popular
trend. Although, this wasn t the first time this silhouette was popular, the hourglass shape can be
traced back to mid 1800 s when designer Charles Frederick Worth was in popular demand for his
elegant gowns and dresses. Even today s society focuses on this trend with famous designers,...

The Pros And Cons Of Natural Resources
A Corporation can be defined as a legal creation, however the corporation itself, would only exist
on a piece of paper. A corporation will never die a natural death like humans die naturally, and
corporations will always outlive the individual who created it. With that said, the corporation itself
is never really committed to any employee or committed to any neighbor. However, a corporation
can always demand employees, a corporation can always demand taxes that are extremely high,
and a corporation can also restrict environmental laws. Corporations hold a great deal of power
in today s society. History has explained the fact that at one point in time, the earth s natural
resources had no limit. Raw materials were plenty, because of the fact that there were plenty of
natural resources to go around. Natural resources can be identified as the raw materials that
comes from the earth and are useful. Natural resources can never be made by humans. Athough,
these raw materials can be modified, or altered to benefit corporations and businesses. For
example, natural resources are fossil fuels like petroleum, natural gas, and coal. Minerals like
diamonds, gold, and copper are natural resources that come from the earth. Other resources are
known as natural vegetation, like forests and timber. Animals are our earth s natural resources as
well, like salmon, deer, whales, chickens, etc. The air we breathe, and the wind are all also natural
resources. Water, like lakes, rivers and

Langston Hughes Poetry Analysis
Throughout history, forms of language such as, speeches, poetry, and literature, have been
strategically and efficiently utilized as a revolutionary tactic to fulfill a goal of social change. For
instance, Langston Hughes was an incredible poet in which he used his words to question the racial
division of the American society during the Harlem Renaissance. Additionally, Hughes became a
vital figure in the movement for racial equality through the use of his language. Language and more
specifically, words have the power to drive resistance because they convey a particular message and
inspire and motivate others to strive for social change. With the assistance of rhetorical techniques,
such as word choice, tone, theme, allusion, imagery, pathos, and repetition, the message is
adequately emphasized to convey the poet s idea. This, therefore, motivates others to contribute to
change. Furthermore, poetryis crucial to effectively motivate the collective majority to be involved
in resistance through the use of rhetoric. Besides Hughes, another poet named Oscar Williams
wrote a poem entitled A Total Revolution
, which was a direct response to Robert Frost s A Semi
Revolution, in which he argued that everyone is needed to contribute to change, not half. Williams
usage of the word evolution makes a definite explanation of what a semi revolution would result to.
The word evolution is commonly applied in the context of science to explain the gradual
development or progress of

Title: How do various mixing methods affect the production of milk fat?
Purpose
The purpose of the experiment was to determine which method of agitation, either shaking, stirring,
whisking, or blending, produced the largest mass of milk fat.
Background InformationProducing butter is a task that can easily be done at home. Butter is one of
the most highly concentrated forms of fluid milk that is made simply by agitating heavy cream
(Douma, 2008). There are several methods of agitation, including shaking, stirring, whisking,
and blending. In this experiment, all four methods were used to determine which mixing
method produced the most milk fat or butter. First of all, in order to understand the making of
butter, one must be familiar with milk and its composition. The components of milk include
87% water, 4% fat, 5% sugar or lactose, 2.6% casein, .7% albumen, and .7% ash (Ross, 1914).
Milk is an emulsion, which is a type of colloid. A colloid is a homogenous mixture in which large
molecules are suspended throughout another substance. Under this category, there are also two
types of emulsions: oil droplets in water or water droplets in oil (BBC, 2014). Milk is an example
of an emulsion of evenly distributed fat particles throughout water. In this experiment, heavy cream
was used because it contains a greater concentration of fat particles in water. However, in order to
keep the particles from separating, emulsifiers are needed to stabilize the mixture (Institute of Food

blood constituents is important for assessing the physiological status and the health of animals. The
present study was carried out to find out whether the estrus affects the concentrations of ghrelin,
interleukin 1ОІ (IL 1ОІ), and IL 6 in Murrah buffaloes. The result indicated that serum ghrelin
concentrations were higher in luteal phase compare to other phase, the highest concentrations of IL
1ОІ and IL 6 were observed at the end of the luteal phase. Keywords: ghrelin, cytokine, buffalo,
estrus period Introduction Ghrelin is a 28 amino acid, octanoylated peptide which is secreted
primarily by cells in the abomasum in ruminants. Ghrelin concentrations increase prior to scheduled
meals and in response to fasting in ruminants, and feeding suppresses ghrelin secretion (Bradford

The Negative Stereotypes Of African Americans
others (f) Black people have been known to be able to do incredible things from themselves and
others. They are able to turn nothing into something and use it for the greater good of their own
communities. Since the Great Renaissance and the inception of the Black Wall Street, African
Americans were a force to American society. Through the Black Wall Street, with their own money,
Blacks were able to open up jobs and business that would recreate and maintain the socioeconomic
flow within their own communities. Businesses, shops, banks, and health care facilities came out
of the Black Wall Street. Since its destruction in 1921, African Americans and their sense of having
something that they can call their own has not been revitalized. Till this day, Blacks rely on their
white counterparts to fulfill their needs in day to day living. There are a few ways that African
Americans can give to themselves, which will continue to give throughout the year. In return, this
will make them (as a people) stronger, more unified, and powerful than ever before. One important
thing that African Americans can do to change their outlook and perception of life is to stop
feeding into the negative stereotypes placed upon them. Through various forms of entertainment
and art, Blacks have failed short of sustaining their dignity by buying into these stereotypical roles
that are used as forms of entertainment to their fellow man. Depictions of heavy drug users, single

With The Old Breed Essay
With the Old Breed by E.B. Sledge, is a memoir that tells the story of training and two battles
fought on Peleliu and Okinawa during his time served in WWII in the K Company, 5th Marine
regiment, 1st Marine Division. This memoir serves as a primary source that truly displays the
horrors, conditions, and attitude that were felt by the soldiers that fought in the Pacific. This
memoir examines the hardships that were felt by the Marines. As I got further into the book, I
saw the changes in his character, integrity, and morality. I believe that the chapter titles surely
represent the characteristics and feelings involved in the book. Making a Marine, Assault into
Hell, Of Mud and Maggots are just some of chapters that provide the essence and foresight of the
book. Making a Marine is a very ambiguous title for a chapter. Making a Marine does not just
stand for a man in uniform. Making a Marine describes the blood, sweat, and tears that these
brave men go through to serve their country. You people are recruits. You re not Marines. You
may not have what it takes to be Marines. (Pg. 8) Sledge did have what it takes to be a Marine, a
Marine that would fight through Peleliu and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While reading his memoir, Sledge accurately depicts how war is hell. The constant
bombardment and explosions from the mortars, grenades, and other weapons were absurdly
rattling and loud that soldiers could only hear each other by yelling. Sledge suggests that that
waiting is a major part of war , but in hell waiting is something that is not easily accomplished. I
broke out in a cold sweat as the tension mounted with the intensity of the bombardment. (Pg. 55)
Sledge was amazed at how his dead Japanese soldiers were looted from glasses to their gun.
These are just some of the descriptive lines that show the agony of war. Assault Into Hell adds
meaning and grit to the terror Sledge had to go through while on the islands of

aircraft was the start of mass transportation for KLMas they are able to fly more passengers than

the US carrier Northwest Airlinesmerged to offer their customers convenient access to both their

United States, allowing for all KLM and Northwest Airlines flights between Europe and the United
States to be operated on a joint venture basis starting in 1993 (History, n.d.). After that, KLM began

John Coffey s Defense Mechanism In The Movie
Freud s defense mechanisms are thoroughly seen and depicted well in the movie. John Coffey
demonstrates the defense mechanism of regression. Regression is when one withdraws to former
and childish like characteristics. John has childlike behaviors such as being afraid of the dark and
this intensified because of his environment at the cold prison. Another defense mechanism that is
seen is rationalization. This is portrayed in the character Paul. Rationalization is when one self
justifies their actions and usually these actions are bad. Paul rationalizes the killing of John
Coffey, an innocent man, because by law he has been convicted for murder. Although Paul knows
this is untrue, he looks to the evidence of the murder to excuse his actions of allowing Coffey to go

An external locus of control is the perception that something outside of one s control determines
their fate. The prisoners sentenced to death display this characteristic because they do not try to
change their fate and accept that there is nothing they can do. Paul also demonstrates an
external locus of control because he knows John s powers gave him life for a long time and he
knows there is nothing he can do about his life span. Percy displays a negative self esteem.
People with a negative self esteem tend to be judgmental and belittle on others to make
themselves feel better. Percy acts this way throughout the entire movie towards the inmates by
calling them scum and other negative words. Percy also was prejudice towards John because of
his African American heritage and his height considering Percy was a small man. Since John
Coffey was an enormous African American, there is a negative stereotype on him from the
townspeople. They assume since his appearance is different, that he was the murderer of the two
little girls. A stereotype is a widely used belief about a group of people, in this case African

Although I do not procrastinate with my school work to often I felt that it was enough for me to decide to use this behavior modification project to further reduce my tendency to procrastinate, especially with the work load I have encountered this term. Procrastinationis essentially defined as putting off important tasks or work until the last minute and trying to complete the work in a very small amount of time. While I was working on reducing my procrastination I decided it would be a good opportunity to improve my time while working on homework or studying. Furthermore, I found that reducing my procrastination was quite simple but it did require... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, classical conditioning and cue routine reward was also a big part of this project to not only motivate me prior to work, but also to keep me motivated during and after work. The classical conditioning was playing music prior to any time I was going to be doing school work, weather it was on my way to each class, before homework, or before studying. The cue to trigger my brain to prepare to do school work was certain music, and the routine was playing it for 10 minutes prior to any school work, and the reward was getting better grades on quizzes, exams, and homework for all of my classes. By using certain songs and listening to them specifically when I wanted to sit down and work I noticed I was starting to become conditioned after a couple days of using the technique. I also noticed that as time went on this connection became stronger and stronger, and to be even more specific I noticed that certain songs had more of an effect on my motivation than ... • 3. Assessment And Treatment Of Adductor Spasmodic Dysphonia Assessment and Treatment of Adductor Spasmodic Dysphonia Julia Mangum East Carolina University Assessment and Treatment of Adductor Spasmodic Dysphonia Adductor spasmodic dysphonia (ADSD) is a voice disorder due to central motor processing abnormalities which result in decreased control of the laryngeal muscles (Blitzer, 2010). The idiopathic disorder is characterized by involuntary spasms of the laryngeal muscles controlling vocal fold adduction (National Spasmodic Dysphonia Association, 2012). The dysphonic characteristics presented by patients with ADSD are described as strained, strangled, and effortful due to irregular adductions of the vocal folds and the occlusion of air through the vocal tract during phonation(Blitzer,2010; Cannito, Doiuchi, Murry Woodson, 2012). Patients with muscle tension dysphonia (MTD) present with similar perceptual vocal characteristics however, treatment for the two disorders is quite different. Speech language pathologists often have difficulty diagnosing and distinguishing between ADSD, a neurological disorder, and MTD, a functional voice disorder (Rees et al., 2007). Correct diagnosis is important and objective measures, such as spectral analysis, are more sufficient in distinguishing the two disorders(Rees et al., 2007). ADSD has a neurologic etiology but the exact cause is still unknown (Lee et al., 2003). Tanner et al. (2009) identified mumps, meningitis, tremor, cancer, and convulsive behaviors as factors that ... • 5. The Disasters The Days Of Grace Analysis In this passage, the author encourages writers to use memories from their childhoods, specifically from holidays, as material for their writing. Holidays are a good place to start when remembering your childhood. They are often memorable. People often take pictures, which can also trigger memories. Remembering a detail about someone or seeing a picture of them can lead to even more memories. This can help the writer recall another event that is harder to remember, but had a greater impact on them. Holidays are often joyful, but can sometimes lead to anger or embarrassment. This is shown by the quote the disasters, the days of grace . The bittersweetness of the holidays makes good material for writing. The author mentions those terrible petaled swim caps, the men s awful trunks . This shows disappointment in her own family. She believes that her family members are clueless and is embarrassed by them. Additionally, she draws a contrast between her cousins Brownie uniforms and her own. This exemplifies her belief that people are constantly judging her. Something as minor as an untidy uniform can set off her low self esteem. The author says to write down what the grown ups said and did after they d had a couple of dozen drinks . After drinking, people say things that they usually would have kept to themselves. General Assembly Case Study This year marks a pivotal point in the history of state government, and that s not because the General Assembly might fall completely under the control of the Republicans. What is taking place is something more basic: the departure of an entire generation of lawmakers who have been in control of the legislative branch of government for nearly four decades. For more than 30 years the General Assembly leadership was dominated by a group of Democratic legislators who were first elected around the time that the county unit system was struck down in 1962 and the legislature was drastically changed by reapportionment. • 7. Southern Black Women Since the enslavement of blacks, black women have played an integral role in mothering America s population, both literally and figuratively. During slavery, slave masters often impregnated slaves for two reasons: to further populate their own plantation or to prepare to sale them to make a profit. About 100 years later, though slaveryhad ended, a majority of black women found work by working as a maid, also known as the help, for wealthy white families. As part of their job, black women were often the sole caretakers of the children. In these jobs, black women in the South served as a cook, housekeeper, nursemaid, or some combination of the three. By analyzing the role of southern black women as mothers, two specific things are revealed: black southern mothers are forced to live a twofold complicated life and they serve as the cornerstone for both white and black southern households. In recognizing these two things, there is a better understanding of the vital role that black women play in the American South. Beginning during slavery, black women have never only mothered just their own children. They were required to care for the slave masters children, while also mothering entire populations. In the early 1900s, these responsibilities were still present, only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 10. The Kite Runner And Oedipus Rex Comparison Essay As I read The Kite Runner and Oedipus Rex I came to a realization that both the books were very graphic. In The Kite Runner I discovered that Hassan had been raped by Assef, and Amir had no intentions to stop what was happening to stand up for his best friend. That gruesome experience can translate to what happened in OedipusRex. In Oedipus Rex, Oedipus wife, Jocasta, winds up killing herself knowing that she married her son, but that s not it. At the very end of the book Oedipus stabs himself in the eyes out. Those horrific images only happened due to the theme betrayal and not being able to step up and say the truth until it s too late. In the book The Kite Runner, Amir ruined Hassan and his friendship because he was too much of a coward. Amir was considered a coward and even called himself a coward in the book due to the fact he was afraid to stand up for his friendship when Hassan needed him the most. As Hassan was in the alley getting raped by Assef, Amir says, I stopped watching, turned away from the alley...I could step into the alley, stand up for Hassan and accept whatever would happen to me. Or I could run. In the end, I ran (Hosseini 77). Amir in this situation thought about himself and instead of standing up for Hassan like Hassan has always done for him, Amir chooses to not help. He was too scared to get hurt. The reason Amir did not go help Hassan was because he was too worried on finding Baba. Growing up Baba never gave him the attention or ... Are the Jews still God s chosen people? Has the church replaced Israel? These and other questions have been asked since Jesus left Earth and ascended into Heaven. Since that day Christians have been looking and longing with eager anticipation for the return of Christ. The study of the return of Christ, or last things, is known as Eschatology, and within Eschatology there are several schools of thought concerning the Church and Israel. Boice writes, In the OT there is the creation of an ekklesia, an assembly of those who are called out of a normal relationship to the world in order to be a special people of God. The church is not Plan B in God s plan of salvation but rather was hinted at in the OT through the calling out of Abraham and Israel but was not fully realized until the NT. Blaising argues this point when he writes, The church is seen less and less as a parenthesis in the divine program. Instead it is seen as vitally linked to and comprehended in the plan of God revealed in the Old Testament. The sharp line which is drawn between the Church and Israel is dulled within PD as this view attempts to harmonize the two Testaments into one unifying work of God throughout all of history. TD views the church as in a parenthetical relationship with God and His plan for Israel. TD taught that the offer to the kingdom of Israel was genuine, but it was also conditional and contingent on the nations response, when Israel choose to reject the Messiah, the offer of Jesus Christ was offered to the Gentiles and the kingdom did not immediately appear but was postponed. In the book mention is made of the Suez Canal. The Suez Canal plays a large role in the memoir as an important place when he crossed to Africa. In 1854 Ferdinand de Lesseps, a French former diplomat, persuaded the Viceroy of Egyptto permit the construction of a shipping canal through the 100 miles of desert between Africaand Asia. Advertisers have long used recognition and recall measures though they have been challenged (Gibson, 1983; Lodish et al., 1995; Percy and Rossiter, 1997). The mainstream of advertising research rests on cognition as the primary factor of memory change. Advertising has been thought to need a unique selling proposition, new news, a logical association, or to remind consumers of memories already in place. The smaller and more recent stream focuses on affect, such as liking the ad (Biel, 1990; Haley and Baldinger, 1991; Joyce, 1991). This research used [beta] blockers experimentally to test the impact of affect on the formation of ad memories, as measured by recall and recognition. The ingestion of [beta] blockers inhibits the experience of emotion though they do not remove the subject s ability to recognize emotion in the stimulus (Greenblatt et al., 1993; Cahill et al., 1994). We started by splitting the House Smoked Salmon. I liked the smoked salmon itself, and the potato cake with goat cheese was quite delectable, but it was slightly rich together. Personally, I like the simple taste of smoked salmon by itself. With the cheese, I think it was too rich as a starter, so I did not finish it. Also, since they pre split it for us, we both got a relatively large portion. They also bring around a bread basket and let you choose from three different breads. The sourdough and spicy flat bread were awesome; I probably had five or six pieces of that flat bread over the course of dinner. The poppy seed wheat was also good, but my least favorite of the three. Since my date got the three courses as well, they brought out a chilled white shrimp soup for his appetizer after we finished the salmon. I tried a bite and it was pretty good, but I do not think I would order it in the future. His entrГ©e was a plethora of pork consisting of pork loin and barbecue pork belly. They were both exceptional. I had the George s Bank Scallops for my entree. The Leek and Bacon Risotto was simply amazing, possessing a enjoyable bacon flavor. Stunning landscapes, beautiful waterfalls and rivers, breathtaking wildlife, and geothermal activity all come together to make Yellowstone an amazing place. People come from all over the world to witness the beauty of Yellowstone. It is a regulated national park for a reason, it is so amazing, so beautiful, so spectacular to not preserve it. It hosts bison, elk, deer, bald eagles, bears, moose, beavers, and amazing trout rivers, everything a perfect mountain ecosystem should hold. However now there is something else, something that is natural, was removed but has now returned, flourishing and benefiting its surroundings. Wolves, have been reintroduced into Yellowstone and have greatly benefited the area. These wolves have started a positive and beneficial renewal in the park. The reintroduction of wolves into Yellowstone National Park is beneficial because they created and natural and beneficial trophic cascade, other animals in the park benefited from the wolves, and because the land was able to regrow and flourish due to the wolves presence. Since the reintroduction of wolves into Yellowstone they have created an astounding and advantageous trophic cascade. A trophic cascade is an ecological phenomenon triggered by the addition or removal of top predators and involving reciprocal changes in the relative populations of predator and prey through a food chain. These often result in dramatic changes in ecosystem structure and nutrient cycling. In a three level food chain, an increase (or decrease) in carnivores causes a decrease (or increase) in herbivores and an increase (or decrease) in primary producers such as plants and phytoplankton according to briticanna (how to make better). The entire ecosystem was able to become whole again because the wolves, a key species, were reintroduced. Now this may seem weird, a predator comes into the area a begins to kill animals, how can this be beneficial in any way? Well the fact of the matter is that it is extremely beneficial. The reason being the problem in Yellowstone was the overpopulation of the elk. These elk had no predators, they were free to roam and reproduce, and they did this very well. Now elk are also a ... It shows us just how important friends and good, tight friendships are. This essay is going talk about two friends that would literally die for each other. In the story of Damon Pythias, they were two noble men who had the strongest, most loyal friendship in all of Syracuse. The tone in this story would have to be awestruck. I say it s awestruck because it shows it when it says, In reply, however, Damon merely smiled, since, in spite of the fact that the eleventh hour had already arrived, he still believed that his lifelong companion would not fail him. Even when, a short time later, he was actually led out to the site of his execution, his serenity remained the same (Russell 70). Along with the saturation of the market, Walmart realized that the American population was only 4% of the global population and there was 96% of the population out from America that could be explored, and there were developing countries that had a great potential to make profits to Walmart. Due to the saturation of the American market, opportunity in developing countries to grow and most of the population of America, the most natural way to keep growing and creating opportunities to grow in fact was going to do business with international markets. In Mexico, they went a 50/50 joint venture with Cifra group that was the leader chain in Mexico, and they had a great success there, and then they bought more shares. According to him, the reason why the students typically drew nude models was to draw form and shape in an organic, natural state. When everyone finished setting up their assortment of drawing pencils, erasers, and other apparatuses quite foreign to me, David turned on relaxing music to set the mood. To get them in the mindset of drawing, he required his students to stretch and partake in breathing exercises. In his words, he wanted them to break through their neural blocks and align the hemispheres. This allowed the artists to clear their minds and focus on the artwork at hand. The artists then practiced various strokes on their gigantic sketchpads as a bit of a warm up to drawing the model. With this one assume that there are two of the same atom groups in signal 1 and 2 respectively. Which makes sense since after discovering that we were dealing with aromatic structure and in an aromatic structure there are 6 carbons but we only see 4 carbon in our spectra that are close together this gives evidence that both signal 1 and 2 are given off a signal for more one carbon in the same environment in the aromatic structure. However, in When Shelter Feels like a Prison (374 376) Charmion Browne writes about being poor, and living in homeless shelters. Somethings in life, are no more than learning experiences, and only you can change it. First off, lets discuss the essay of Angela Locke. Angela grew up in a household that was poor. Something that Angela battles with until the present time is feeling the privelage that can distinguish her from the rich and the poor. Wealthy people never question their worth. They don t seem like they need to since they were brought up with a golden spoon in their mouth, they feel as if they are better than people. However, in my opinion someone like Angela Locke is the one that shouldn t question her worth. She is the one who rose up against the odds and made something of herself and wasn t handed everything in life. Class relations isn t only about having a monetary value. It also can be about having a relationship to success. Angela says that My definition of success has something to do with money, but everything to do with class. (339) To break that statement down, she doesn t feel that she needs to only be rich, but have more class and social standing. However I don t think that someone should compare themselves to another person. Just because one person is more successful than another, it doesn t always mean they earned it like the one that worked their way up from nothing. The person that works their way up has way more class in my opinion because they know what it s like to be at the bottom, and the ones that come from wealth never have known that feeling. Langston Hughes Poetry Analysis Throughout history, forms of language such as, speeches, poetry, and literature, have been strategically and efficiently utilized as a revolutionary tactic to fulfill a goal of social change. For instance, Langston Hughes was an incredible poet in which he used his words to question the racial division of the American society during the Harlem Renaissance. Additionally, Hughes became a vital figure in the movement for racial equality through the use of his language. Language and more specifically, words have the power to drive resistance because they convey a particular message and inspire and motivate others to strive for social change. With the assistance of rhetorical techniques, such as word choice, tone, theme, allusion, imagery, pathos, and repetition, the message is adequately emphasized to convey the poet s idea. This, therefore, motivates others to contribute to change. Furthermore, poetryis crucial to effectively motivate the collective majority to be involved in resistance through the use of rhetoric. Besides Hughes, another poet named Oscar Williams wrote a poem entitled A Total Revolution , which was a direct response to Robert Frost s A Semi Revolution, in which he argued that everyone is needed to contribute to change, not half. Purpose The purpose of the experiment was to determine which method of agitation, either shaking, stirring, whisking, or blending, produced the largest mass of milk fat. Background InformationProducing butter is a task that can easily be done at home. Butter is one of the most highly concentrated forms of fluid milk that is made simply by agitating heavy cream (Douma, 2008). There are several methods of agitation, including shaking, stirring, whisking, and blending. In this experiment, all four methods were used to determine which mixing method produced the most milk fat or butter. First of all, in order to understand the making of butter, one must be familiar with milk and its composition. The components of milk include 87% water, 4% fat, 5% sugar or lactose, 2.6% casein, .7% albumen, and .7% ash (Ross, 1914). Milk is an emulsion, which is a type of colloid. A colloid is a homogenous mixture in which large molecules are suspended throughout another substance. Under this category, there are also two types of emulsions: oil droplets in water or water droplets in oil (BBC, 2014). Milk is an example of an emulsion of evenly distributed fat particles throughout water. In this experiment, heavy cream was used because it contains a greater concentration of fat particles in water. Through the Black Wall Street, with their own money, Blacks were able to open up jobs and business that would recreate and maintain the socioeconomic flow within their own communities.
