2. Creative Industries And The Creative Industry
As an ever evolving concept, the creative industries as as hard to define as creativity itself.
Academia is struggling to keep up with the growing global interest in these ideas. (De
Beukelaer, 2015) A creative industry is defined as unpredictability, rapid shift in trends and
fashions (Lee, 2015, p. 141). Products that are innovative and novel, satisfying the rapidly
changing needs and demands of a globalized society. (Lee, 2015) Lee (2015) identified two
common strands of creative industry research. The first focuses on the development of creative
industries and the second on place promotion : using arts and culture to promote or rejuvenate
urban areas. (Lee, 2015) The know why, know how, know who, know when and know from (Lee,
2015) are critical to development within the creative industries. The constant demand for
innovative products creates a need for a centralized knowledge bases among the firms and
freelancers of the creative industries. Access to this base, providing information on job
opportunities, new commodities and methods and new collaborators is critical for maintaining a
competitive advantage. (Lee, 2015) There are three key concepts that facilitate the sharing of said
knowledge: clusters, buzz and degree of commonality. (Lee, 2015) This knowledge is transferred
primarily through face to face interactions and the individuals sharing information are referred to as
actors. (Lee, 2015) A large amount of literature focuses on the importance of physical

4. Black Men And The Brotherhood Essay
While white women seek visibility as a means of being recognized by white men, white men seek
visibility to further their political goals. What both have in common is the use of black men to
amplify their visibility and expedite their success. The Brotherhood is an organization led by
Brother Jack that entices the Invisible Man, recruits him, and takes advantage of his invisibilityto
spark a riot in the streets of Harlem. The Brotherhood takes advantage of his invisibility in
multiple ways: the organization advises the Invisible Man during his speeches, the organization
sends him across New York as it see fit, the organization gives him money, and the organization
fuels his rise to fame and notoriety. These acts seem benevolent, but the intentions behind them
were destructive and manipulative. The Brotherhood has a doctrine and all members are
expected to abide by it. Individual action is frowned upon. The Invisible Man is thus, reduced to
a token and through his invisibility, the Brotherhood amplifies its prevalence in Harlem and
generally as an organization. Again, the black man is used and those who use him aren t
invested in him. The Invisible Man realizes this amidst the riots in Harlem: And now I looked
around a corner of my mind and saw Jack and Norton and Emerson merge into one single white
figure. They were very much the same, each attempting to force his picture of reality upon me and
neither giving a hoot in hell for how things looked to me (508) and It was

5. Allan Bakke Pros And Cons
Allan Bakke was a man who applied to the University of California at Davis. He was a white
male, more specifically, who tried to get in the medical school. He was denied twice, in 1973
and 1974. He was angry because other people, with lower grade point averages, were admitted to
the program. But these people were admitted through the special program. The special program
was made for the purpose to increase representation of disadvantaged students. The screening
process involved the candidate s indication of what race they were. They could say they were a
minority group, or if they were economically and/or educationally disadvantaged. Then the special
admissions committee would see if they did meet the criteria. These candidates did not have to
meet the 2.5 grade point average, nor where they compared to the candidates in the regular
admissions program.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He filed suit in the Superior Court of Yolo County, California. His claim was that the University of
California s special program violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. It
also went against Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 because it excluded him on the basis of
race. The University defended themselves by saying all the pros of the special admissions program.
They said it fought against the discrimination so common in their society. They thought they could
reverse the historical statistics that showed minors were discriminated against in medical
admissions and professions. Also, they said their program would increase the number of doctors
who practice in less popular or undeserved communities. The last reason was that they thought the
student body in a whole would educationally benefit. They said the students would work better if
the body is ethnically and racially

6. What Is Polygamy A Subculture
If you have never heard of polygamy you will and if you had in the past it was most likely due to
the hit reality series Sister Wives about a polygamist family in the state of Utah. Polygamy is
defined as the practice or condition of having more than one spouse at a time. Polygamy is
nothing new and has been practice for hundreds of years but it is now seen as an immoral act, and
a criminal act in a large majority of the of the world. Now even though polygamyis wide known in
certain areas like Africa (South Africa, Kenya), Asia (middle east), etc. Still there are rules that
they must abide by and it frowned on in an obese manner in areas like the United States,
Australia, and China, because as a society we see it as an unjust act that can not be upheld by any

7. Evaluate Gm s Currency Hedging Policies Essay
3. Evaluate GM s currency hedging policies. [3 pages] {Gavin} {Ryan} The issue here may lie
with the 50% to 75% hedge as it is doubtful as to why GM does not hedge its receivables
/ payables by 100%. Perhaps the issue is related to high costs of using options and their receivables
/ payables run into huge amounts. Additionally, GM is not keen on committing to a forward
because they have positive expectations about the future exchange rate and the forward would only
serve to limit their possible gains.

However by paying a small premium for an option, GM would be able to preserve the upside of
any exposure. This is because an option gives them the right to choose whether to exercise it or
not upon maturity. Hence, if the CAD dollar weakens against the USD, GM s large Canadian
assets and liabilities and payables owed to Canadian suppliers would weaken considerably. GM
could then choose to exercise the option for a better exchange rate. Conversely, if the CAD dollar
strengthens, then GM would choose not to exercise the option as their cash flows denominated in
Canadian dollar is now worth more compared to the USD.
The level of risk adverseness plays a huge role because GM may be inclined to hedge all exposure
using a forward if they are highly risk adverse. On the other hand, GM may be willing to pay a
premium for an option to ensure the still receive the upside if they are not so risk adverse. This
links to expectations on future spot rates and how GM anticipates the CAD to fluctuate vis Г vis
the USD in the coming months. If GM anticipates future spot rates of CAD/USD to weaken, it
would prefer to buy a forward and the reverse holds true as well.
After conduction an analysis, it shows that the fluctuations in exchange rate could cause a lot of
trouble for GM. Hence, it reverts back to the issue of GM s expectations of the future spot exchange
rate. From this, they can then determine which hedging method is more

Gentrification in the city:
Rauch (1993), Crihfield and Panggaben (1995), Glaser et al (1995), Simon (1998), Simon and
Nardinelli (2002) and Glaser and Saiz( 2004) address human capital as impacting the economic
performance of the area and is also identified as the main determinant of growth in metropolitan
areas. Crihfield and Panggabean (1995) include four points of production function: labor, private
physical capital, public infrastructure capital, and human capital. The researchers analyzed race,

Smith views gentrification as a negative thing, and a product of political economic shifts in local
and global markets (Smith pp.92) . He notes that this revanchist or French for Revenge city theme
aggressively re claims the city and tries to re infuse the city with middle class morals, standards
and costs. Gentrification also experiences a pattern of what many note as consumption in which
those with the sweat equity such as the LGBT community but some such as Rose (1984)
suggested that first wave gentrifiers were of small means, but were able to carve out spaces and
enclaves of sage space based on sweat equity Smith (1996) reintroduces the notion of the rent gap in
gentrification. Knopp (1987) mentions the increase in rents and the inability for pioneer gentrifiers
in the gay community to keep up with the increase in taxes and home prices.
Knopp (1990) analyzes the significance of gays in the gentrification process in New Orleans,
Louisiana. He finds that are three sets of events that present catalysts for neighborhood
transformation; the transformation included gay men, specifically white gay men who were active
in the community and also developers of the neighborhood. Knopp concluded that, ...the class
interests of those who treat land as a financial asset can be facilitated by forming cross cultural and
cross class alliances with gay communities ( p.337). Knopp (1990) also believed that the male

9. Bodily Humor In Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter
Bodily humor is a key element to one s actions, as certain movements or looks can paint a person s
whole picture. While people do not typically find themselves intently observing others in real life,
this is a key element in reading that they sometimes unknowingly are grasping through vivid, or
sometimes even subtle descriptions. In Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, bodily humoris very
important if one wishes to determine the true intentions of the main characters, all of whom are
harboring either their own or someone else s dark secret. One character whose bodily humor must
be keenly observed is Roger Chillingworth, a cunning man who could be represented through the

In figure one of The Persistence of the Four Temperaments , the choleric temper is grouped in
with hot and dry temperature, which in this case is to say fire (Doody and Immerwahr 349).
This fits the choleric definition because it is described as irritable and unpredictable, and that is
how one would describe fire. Fire is also something often used to describe Chillingworth, his
eyes being said to have glimmered with a light burning blue and ominous, like the reflection of a
furnace, or, let us say, like one of those gleams of ghastly fire that darted from Bunyan s awful
doorway in the hillside and quivered on the pilgrim s face (Hawthorne 125). The light in his eyes is
described as a blue flame, which is the hottest flame, and that is enforced with the mention of
Bunyan s doorway, which is the pilgrim version of hell, therefore emphasizing his anger and ill
intent. Another instance in which fire is referenced also includes the idea of fire being
transformative, much like Chillingworth s anger transformed him. Anger consumes Chillingworth
much like flames would consume a building, which is effectively summed up when it says, This
unhappy person had effected such a transformation by devoting himself, for seven years, to the
constant analysis of a heart full of torture, and deriving his enjoyment thence, and adding fuel to
those fiery

16. Police Enforcement Agency Of Bangladesh Essay
Introduction:
The Bangladesh Police is the main law enforcement agency of Bangladesh. It is administered
under the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of Bangladesh. It plays a crucial role in
maintaining peace, and enforcement of law and order within Bangladesh. Though the police are
primarily concerned with the maintenance of law and order and security of persons and property
of individuals, it also plays a big role in the criminal justice system.
After decades of misuse and neglect, Bangladesh police is a source of instability and fear rather
than a key component of a democratic society. A friend asks another friend How many people
were there at the tea shop? He replies, Oh, only a few, just a couple of gentle men and a cop. You

reasons behind this common perception. But like all generalizations, these do not portray the whole
truth.
Abstract:
Police is one of the important law enforcing agencies to control the pace of crime and law and
order situation. Subordinate Police Officers are the key role players in this context. At present,
crime is increasing; the criminal justice system is cracking under heavy workload; society s
expectations from the police are high but the police s status and resources, working and living
conditions leave a lot to be desired. Moreover, the law enforcers are encountering some

The fraction of corporate equity owned by institutional investors has grown considerably in the
past several decades; institutional holding of shares in U.S. equities has increased from
approximately 16% in 1965 to over 50% in 2010 (Federal Reserve Board, 2011). The fact that
institutional investors are managing such a sizable wealth invested in U.S. equity market has
potential important role in term of setting market prices. The growing impact of institutional
investors on capital markets has induced to increased research on the behavior of this group of
investors both by academics and policy makers, who tend to believe that institutional investorfollow
momentum based strategies, and often are alleged to herdinglike behavior and following
destabilizing trading strategies.
Recent studies investigating the behavior of institutional investors document three main results.
First, institutional investors are momentum traders (buying past winners and selling past losers)
and are more likely to follow past prices (citet*{grinblatt1995momentum}). Second, Institutional
investors sometimes trade in the same direction over a period of time or engage in herding behavior
(citet{wermers1999mutual}). Finally, the contemporaneous association between changes in
quarterly institutional holding and quarterly stock returns is much stronger than the feedback
trading effect (citet{nofsinger1999herding,wermers1999mutual}).

Evidently, the Magistrate s ordinary hunt develops into a point of great moral awareness; Coetzee s
description of the hunt being robbed of its savour and stand[ing] for something else accentuates this
idea (Coetzee 39). The Magistrate s virtuous act here distinguishes him from the rest of the Empire.
In other words, by refusing to kill the buck, he rejects the Empire and thus decides to diverge from
its cruel practices. Unlike the Magistrate, who understands the consequences of his conduct, the
Empireп‚ѕas represented by Captain Jollп‚ѕdemonstrates neither empathy nor responsibility. In fact,
we are immediately introduced to the lack of concern that Captain Joll has for animals in the
beginning of the novel when he reminisces on his hunting experience during which he killed so
many animals that a mountain of carcasses had to be left to rot (Coetzee 1). Such negligence can
be compared to Captain Joll s and other, similar imperial officer s unlawful treatment of the
barbarians, who they have displaced from their homes, publicly shamed, and tortured so as to
prevent an alleged oncoming war from occurring. Hence, similar to the buck, the barbarians lie in
plain sight of the empire, suspended in immobility (Coetzee 39). By characterizing the buck as

The relationship between the two elements is vigorous and intricate. In his analysis, Habermas
traces public and private back to Ancient Greece and then onwards to the Middle Ages, where
separation existed, and present day. After the development of the economy and the modern state,
public and private adopted their present form. The term public refers to public authority of the state,
while private refers to the family, society and the economy. Institutions and laws are the elements
that differentiate the two from each other. In modern society, there is a loss of discrepancy between
public and private. Instead, there is one societal multipart that exists, similar to that of the one that
existed in the Middle Ages. Habermas evaluates that the public sphere in its traditional system no
longer exists in today s society.
The main concept of Habermas piece is structural transformation. Structural transformation is the
progression by which the public sphere moves from being the core of the rational critical debate to
a degraded form of its prior self. Habermas concludes that the transformation occurred due to

22. The Destructors Rhetorical Analysis
In The Destructors, Graham Greene uses a flashback to illustrate the exchange of powers between
T and Blackie in order to demonstrate that loyalty is nearly nonexistent because every person will
selfishly follow the leader whose ideas please him the most. At the beginning of the short story, it is
noted that the newest member of the gangbecomes the leader in the end, which brings into question
on how it is possible that this boy replaces the previous one. The flashback then demonstrates that
this shift starts with one particular instance of when the new recruit, T, proposes the idea to destroy
Mr. Thomas house. The other children prefer this chance at infamy to Blackie s idea of catching
free rides. Because they wish to do something more

Similarly as with very nearly all domesticated clashes, the division between the homeland of the
united kingdom of Britain and what might turn into the united states of American was a movement
of insults, which adequately constrained the thirteen colonies to join as one voice against England.
The unity of the colonies became the method for various movements which later on lead them to
their independence. At the point when the thirteen provinces started their political solidarity was
frail, then again as Britain started to authorize more laws and duties on the pilgrims, their
solidarity got solid as they battled for their freedom. These four laws that made solidarity around
the colonies conceivable towards autonomy, also led them to form a congress. The Intolerable Act
not just abused the privileges of the American individuals, however they constrained all day by day
living in the states. At the point when this violation happened, the American Colonists knew their
last end was to separate from Great Britain. In March 1774, Parliament adopted (Norton), the first
four acts that were passed to rebuff the homesteaders for the Boston Tea Party. These acts that were
passed damaged the privileges of the American pioneers and individuals and set the stage for
detachment. The first act was the Boston Port Bill which was implemented on June 1, 1774, The
British Government ordered (Parliamentary taxation of colonies ), the closure of the Boston Harbor

25. Common Perceptions Toward Witches In The Late Sixteenth...
Reginald Scot explores the common perceptions towards witches in the late sixteenth century,
which he claims they were commonly old, lame, full of wrinkles, poor (Levack 2004: ?), although
not necessarily solitary (Larner 1984: 72). Scot claims that their appearance often caused alarm
among many in the community and caused the neighbours to find truth in witches utterings. One
could argue women were often ascribed with such stereotypes, for they were both physically and
politically weakened, and were unable to distance themselves from accusations (levack 1984: 127).
It is apparent the oppression of these women could represent an attempt to maintain hegemony in a
patriarchal society in the late sixteenth century. Coincidentally, most women accused of sorcery
often lived out of the constraints of male authority, where they would live alone, perhaps for the
rest of her life. It is apparent witches needed the belief of the local community to reinforce
confidence in their powers, just as much as the local community needed witches as means of a
scapegoat. Scot claimed the witch would visit her neighbours when needing to procure goods, in
which she would go door to door (Levack 2004:). During this visit, the attitude of the witch was
often aggressive for she believed her reputation in the local community would secure submission
from neighbours. However, more often than that not, her neighbour would echo such hostility, and
after upsetting the witch, she would then leave.

Japanese teachers do not create their lessons based upon a series of steps they intend to
complete but by how they predict students will interpret the problem they present to them at
every step. Japanese teachers do not tell their students to what to do or how to approach a
problem. Instead, they place more emphasis on challenging the students to figure out all the
possible ways that they could solve a problem and let them work through it themselves before
discussing their findings as an entire class (Hiebert, et al., 2003). In this manner, the students are
applying concepts that they have learned from previous lessons in order to come to a solution
towards a problem that they have never seen before. Once they have done this, it is believed that
they can provide evidence as to why a problem is correct. In short, it is the Japanese belief that
students will not understand the underlying concept of a problem if they are not forced to figure it
out by themselves. Even when they make mistakes, the Japanese believe it is in the students best
interests to complete the problem and then try to make sense of why their reasoning led them to the
wrong answer so that they will not make a similar mistake in the future (Hiebert, et al., 2003). The
American teaching philosophy is vastly different from that of Japan s teaching philosophy. Instead

27. Analysis Of The Village Of The Mermaids
Delvaux s painting consist of a eight nearly identical woman sitting in chairs outside the
doorways of grey rowhomes which head down a thin, long road. Towards the background of the
painting, the houses are replaced by a lengthy, white wall and the road starts to bend
dramatically. At the bend there is a black hatted man walking away from the viewer and on the
other side of the wall there are mermaids. Both the man and the mermaids are miniscule due to the
extended perspective of the painting. The Village of The mermaids is confusing for many
reasons. It has no central subject and uses size and perspective to minimize key figures and
symbols that help the viewer form a holistic conclusion about it s meaning. The Village of the
Mermaids is not unlike a hydra, for every question answered two arise in its place. The painting has
mysterious, eerie sentiment that plays on the viewer s discomfort with the unknown. The Village of
the Mermaids uses subtly unconventional geometry and positioning to achieve contradictory
symbolism and ultimately a sense of discombobulation, but Mueller s poetic analysis of the the
painting fails to capture the full depth of this state of quiet disarray because people often feel the
need to ground surrealist work in reality.
The author begins her poem with the question ... ( author, Line number) this figure has a unique
symbolic value as he is one of the few things in the painting that isn t replicated. His singularity is
one of the only attempts the composition makes to draw attention to him. It s apparent that The
artist seeks to minimize the man s presence using compositional tools like placement and depth
of field. In the scale of the painting the man only occupies a miniscule amount of space. He is
placed in just close enough for the viewer to clearly identify him as a man wearing a black hat
and a coat. In a more subtle attempt to reduce the man s visibility, the artist arranges various
guiding lines to direct the eye away from the man. Perhaps the most profound example of this can
be found in the sky s color gradient, which creates intense depth that directs the viewer towards the
horizon line and away from the position of the man. For all of it neglect, the painting does

of necessary road lane that would facilitate the development prerequisite for the eventual

due to the extensive importation of the second hand vehicles that are cheaper but prone to poor
quality. The rate of the development of the road networks is at a slower pace as compared to the
pace at which the road networks are being established. The limited number of the roads available is
usually overused thus leading perennial repairs and rehabilitation. South Africa has a better road

Throughout the semester, students have learned of the importance of the interplay amongst
different levels of actors in international relations politics. These various institutions, governments,
groups, and individuals are especially important when considering the issue of human rights. My
chosen article, co written by Elisabeth Malkin and Gene Palumbo, describes the landmark decision
for El Salvador s Supreme Court to overturn an amnesty law that protected perpetrators of human
rightsviolations. The ruling of the Supreme Court is based on the grounds that the amnesty is
unconstitutional due to violating international human rights laws (Malkin, Palumba). This event is
particularly important because previous governments ignored these violations that stemmed from
civil unrest. The amnesty law was established in 1992 after a civil war of more than 12 years and
effectively covers all crimes committed by both sides during the war (Dolliver, Kanavel, Robeck).
However, due to its contestable legality both domestically and internationally, El Salvador s
Supreme Court decided to rule on the amnesty s law constitutionality for the final time. This article
is relevant in the context of increasing global concern over human rights. More recent debates in
international relations discuss the importance of the individual over that of states and sovereignty,
especially in a society in which national and global boundaries are being transcended and constantly
undermined. Multiple levels

History
From slavery until now, Ghana is considered one of the farthest growing country in the continent of
Africa because of several reasons. Ghana enters the historical data by the end of the 8th century,
through the narrative of Muslims traders traced to the desert by the profitable exchange for gold by
its leaders. Nevertheless, after the six centuries the exchange attracted the Portuguese sailors down
to the coastline of Guinea. In addition, this led to the Trans Saharan trading and the Islamic politics,
reinforcing the activity of the building of the Sudanic Empire, with the increase to that of Ghana
descendants, and those cities that came along the way of the port from the desert peripheral.

However, with the appearance of Jerry Rawlings, and general support from those around him,

Let s delve back into the past and see the magnificent architecture that screamed power from every

and is still practiced this day and age.
The first style is the Doric Order which emerged around the late seventh century and was
predominant in Greek temple constructions and major building; the most notable being the
Parthenon in Athens. The Doric order is characterized by a plain column that rests on a stylobate
that did not have a base. The columns are fluted and the square spaces in the vertical plaques and
metopes are either painted or sculpted to provide decoration to the plain columns.
The next style is the Ionic order. The Ionic order was developed during the mid sixth century and

more of a slender and elegant style compared to the Doric order who is stockier and supportive.
Ionic order uses base supports at the bottom of the columns and volutes (scroll like ornaments).

Bishop Disapproves Same Gender Couples Adoption Rights in Czech Republic

The model of the family, constituted by a man and a woman, has been proved over thousands of

In June of 2016, the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic struck down the law that kept
LGB people in same gender partnerships from adopting children. The Czech Republic, where
Catholicism is the dominant religion, has seen slow change from their landmark decision in 2006

similar to marriages but with less rights, such as until recently not having the right to adopt

of a registered partnership to adopt but does not yet allow both partners to hold joint custody.

line for the titration results are greater than the trend... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In result, this meant that the hypothesis bottled water will be harder than tap water as it comes
from naturally occurring springs is incorrect as the results from the experiment prove that tap
water is harder than bottled water. However, the hypothesis may still have a chance to be correct
as there were many sources of error that was present in the investigation. For example, the
amount of Erichrome Black T indicator that was added to the flask was slightly varied on each
test. The bottle of the indicator was incredibly hard to use as the pressure from squeezing the
bottle had to be precise each time. If the indicator bottle was squeezed too hard, a lot more of the
indicator will come out rather than the desired amount of two drops. The impact of adding too
many drops of the indicator is very large as it affects the titration point. Possible ways to
minimise this error includes getting a smaller bottle of the indicator with a smaller hole at the tip,
so that the indicator will not rush out all at once. Another source of error that was present in the
investigation was rinsing the flasks between use. For example, the team members will rinse out the
flask after testing it into the sink and then rinsing the insides with distilled water. However, it was
difficult to dry the insides, so when reusing the flask, there may be extra residue of distilled water
