Andrew Lloyd Webber s Life and Work Essay
Andrew Lloyd Webber was born on March 22, 1948. He composed many musicals throughout his
lifetime including; Evita , Phantom of the Opera , and Cats . Webber grew up in South Kensington to
parents William who was a professional in theory and composition at the Royal College of Music in
England and Jean who was a singer and a violinist in the same school. By age three Webber was
playing the violin. Then by age six he composed his own songs. Then by age nine he had a piece of
music published in the magazine, Music Teacher. Thanks to Webber s Aunt Vi who got him into
theatre. She took him to many big production shows like My Fair Lady. Vi and Weber also have seen
many films together too. Gigi and South Pacific are some just to ... Show more content on

That is when Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was born. Webber soon married 18 year
old Sarah Hugill in 1972. With their career (Webber and Rice) on the move they came together and
wrote Jesus Christ Superstar . They set rock music to the story of Jesus Christ which was a big
success. Then they wrote Jeeves in 1975 and Rice did not want anything to do with it. That s when
Alan Ayckbourn wrote the lyrics. Then Webber and Rice came together again and wrote Evita a story
about the first lady of Argentina married to Juan Peron. This was also a huge success. Then they broke
up for time to recharge . Rice said. This is when Webber created the musical Cats . When Webber was
a child he read, Old Possum s Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot. This would soon be turned into the
musical Cats . All of the lyrics were there, he wanted to add some flavor to them, and so he called on
Rice and Trevor Nunn to help. Nunn used to direct the shows that Webber proposed. Webber chose
Nunn s lyrics over Rice s, thus Cats was born in 1981. He soon divorced his wife Sara Hugill and
moved on to the actress Sarah Brightman in 1984. Later Brightman was cast as the female role in The
Phantom of the Opera as Christine Daae. In 1990 Webber announced his divorce with Brightman after
she finished touring with The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber in the summer. They planed to work
things out. Webber stepped out of the composing shoes and

Inequality In South Bronx Essay
Many inner cities within the United States are comprised of people living in poverty and many of
these people are people of color. One of the largest and poorest neighborhoods in the United States is
the South Bronx. The South Bronx is extensively racially segregated and the plights that the residents
face are horrendous (Kozol, 1995, p. 3). It is conservative belief that the people of color that inhabit
the deteriorating inner cities of the US remain in such dire conditions is attributable to their own
individual choices, lifestyle, and culture. This belief that the persistence of racial inequalities is
attributable to individual lifestyle cannot explain the continuance of inequality once these individuals

neighborhoods where public safety and education are overlooked by those who possess the power to

Global Exchange Traded Products Industry
Over the past 5 years, ETFs have surged in popularity as they continue to grow and evolve. Just this
past year, the global exchange traded products industry reached another milestone, topping $3 trillion
in combined assets under management. Now investors are searching for the next asset class which will
expected to explode on the scene as ETFs have recently. They may have found it last week when
Eaton Vance rolled out the first of its Nextshares products. The funds, commonly called exchange
traded mutual funds, are actively managed and traded at the funds net asset value but carry low fees

Dilma Rousseff s Operation Car Wash Scandal
Things have begun to go wrong in Brazil since its President, Dilma Rousseff was elected for a second
term in October 2014. After she won her second presidential election, her approval ratings have
plunged. 63% of respondents around the country said her government was bad or terrible, with only
13% saying it was good or excellent . Experts say these numbers reflect the voter s disappointment in
finding out about the corruption scandal with the state controlled oil company Petrobras and that she
may have manipulated Brazil s account books to hide a growing deficit. Rousseff was head of the
board at Petrobras from 2003 to 2010 and most of her opponents said she must have known about the
scandal. The investigation showed that Operation Car Wash has put in important figures from
President Rousseff s Workers Party but also some of her opponents. The impeachment was based off
the claim that she manipulated the government s accounts when she was seeking re election.
Millions of Brazilians went into the streets in an anti government protest on March 13. Figures have
suggested about 3.5 million people took part in it in more than 300 cities across Brazil. Many of these
people wrapped themselves up in the Brazil flag and said they wanted their country back . These

Is Islam Oppressive To Women
Is Islam oppressive to women? This is the big question that scholars in religious and women s studies
are constantly asking. Religious and women s studies scholars are always looking at the world s major
religions and questioning how these religions treat women. Even on the personal level, women who
belong to a certain religious tradition have to evaluate about how they are treated and if they are going
to stay in the religion as in, try to reform it or leave the tradition. This is a common struggle for
women around the world. In some countries, Islam isn t entirely repressive to women, but I think that
Saudi Arabia is a major example of how Islam can be used to the extreme oppression of women. In

Only men are allowed to practice polygamy since they are considered the head of the family and the
basic requirement for any polygamous relationship is that each wife must be treated equally mentally,

wife inherently makes it impossible for the women to be treated equally. Even though this practice is
allowed, it has lost much of its popularity because it requires that the man to be rich in order to care
for multiple wives and children. Recently women have been able to include a prohibition of the man

The Purpose Of Spending A Day Without Technology
Let s give our soul the rest that truly deserves. The purpose of spending a day without technology is to
detoxify ourselves from the continuous barrage of information. Just as Mark Bittman mentions in his
article, I felt connected to myself rather than my computer. I had time to think, and distance from
normal demands. (4) We are so accustomed to rely on technology that we seem to forget what would
become of us without it. Internet, radio, television, cell phones, video games and other technological
amenities are part of our daily life, in a way that sometimes we can not see reality outside a screen. We
have shelved conversations face to face, the pleasure of enjoying the birds sing or simply appreciate
nature around us. Professor David Levy declares, Living a good life requires a kind of balance, a bit of
quiet. There are questions about the limits of the brain and the body, and there are parallels here to the
environmental movement. (2) Talking about the environment, not only helps us to live without the use
of technology for one day but it helps the environment as well. A great way to save money and take
care of the environment is to decide to give up the technology just for one day. We need to take care of
our soul or inner self or however we want to call it, not for vanity but sanity. Since we get up in the
morning and until we go to bed at night we are bombarded with data and information such as emails,
Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, news, programs, text

Media Impact On Social Media
Social network sites lie at the locus of our contemporary digital media ecosystem. They capture a
substantial share of our time and daily media attention, having seemingly colonised our everyday life.
They are frequently at the forefront of news and popular culture content. They appear to have
transfigured nearly every aspect of our sociality. And they have certainly inspired a great number of
folk theories about their effects on society. In fact, the use of SNSs now constitutes the most popular
Internet activity in many counties, including the UK.
Research studies have proffered many different views of the effects of SNSs on society. Some scholars
have described SNSs as a transformative force that has come to dominate the zeitgeist of a generation,
spawning new communities, where there were once just distributed individuals. Others have depicted
SNSs as a risky technology that has blurred the boundaries of the private sphere, frequently and
inadvertently exposing personal data to unintended audiences.
As such, writing a thesis on social media choice and commitment in a time when society and mass
media appears to be oversaturated with SNSs was no easy task. On the one hand, any research
findings are bound to be instantly compared to hardwired conventional wisdom and popular beliefs,
which are oftentimes inaccurate since they are not backed up by any empirical evidence. On the other
hand, the rapid technological change of social media makes research in this area a moving

Positioning Strategy Since this is a new product entering in the market, we will be depositioning
competing cocktail mixers. The question that we will be answering is what the product differentiation
is relative to the competition. The reason that our cocktail mixer will be differentiated from all others
is that everything the person needs will be put together in one kit, including premeasured mix packets
(better than refrigerated mixes because this can be taken on the go, like a juice box) and a battery
operated operated shaker with a detailed instruction book and 1 gigabyte flash drive with hundreds of
extra mix recipes. There will be 24/7 product support as well as online support with online chat. The

Comparison Of King Lear And King Lear
In the play King Lear Shakespeare puts emphasis on the ignorance of both King Lear and Gloucester
by revealing their personalities in similar ways. This allows the reader to better understand the
characters as well as give a point of reflection for both characters. Throughout the play, Shakespeare
develops King Lear and Gloucester into parallel characters by creating similarities in their relationship
with their children, their blindness, in both a literal and figurative sense and their doomed fate.
Within the first act of the play, it is shown that both Gloucester and King Lear are ignorant to their
children s true character. First, when King Lear is determining the division of his kingdom, he only
hears the surface of what Reagan and Goneril are saying. Although they claim to love him beyond
what can be valued, (1.1.57) it is becomes obvious that these are just words, rather than truths. In a
similar fashion, Gloucester is quick to believe the words of Edmund. Edmund claims to have found a
letter from his brother Edgar plotting to kill their father. Just as King Lear was manipulated by his
daughters, Gloucester falls for Edmund s trap. Gloucester banishes Edgar on the spot and now it under
Edmund s thumb. While Gloucester turns against his eldest son, King Lear turn against his youngest
daughter Cordelia. She is banished as well, similarly to Edgar, for being honest with her father. She
tells him that she only loves him according to [her] bond, (1.1.93) Both characters

History of St. Louis
St. Louis was acquired from France by the United States under President Thomas Jefferson in 1803, as
part of the Louisiana Purchase. It was founded by the French in 1764 when Auguste Chouteau
established a fur trading post and Pierre Laclède Liguest, a New Orleans merchant, founded a town at
the present site. They named it after King Louis XV of France and his patron saint, Louis IX. From
1770 to 1803, St. Louis was a Spanish possession, but it was ceded back to France in 1803 in
accordance with the Treaty of San Ildefonso (1800), only to be acquired by the U.S. as part of the
Louisiana Purchase later that year. The town was incorporated in 1809. From 1812 to 1821, St. Louis

St. Louis. The Oetting or as it was called the Oettingen family began one of the firsts banks in the
town of Bremen and from that it has merged or changed its name into the Boatmen s, Nation s, Bank

The St. Louis World s Fair (1904), which was held in Forest Park, captured global attention as it
displayed various technological developments. The fair celebrated the centennial of the Louisiana
Purchase and transformed Forest Park into a veritable fairyland of white palaces, lagoons, and
landscaping, attracting 20,000,000 visitors to the City. The fair focused worldwide attention on St.
Louis and caused increased construction of new hotels, office buildings, and homes, which continued
until World War I. Throughout this time, St. Louis industry enjoyed a steady substantial growth. The
City became the world s largest producer of beer, shoes, stoves, wagons, and many other products.

Thinking, Fast And Slow By Daniel Kahneman
This distinctive book called, Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman, is one of very few
exquisite readings I ve completed so far. Daniel Kahneman is a psychologist in Princeton University,
and due to his research, he won a Nobel Prize in 2002 in economics. In the beginning of his book, he
speaks of our cognitive System 1 and System 2 ways of thinking. System 1 generates feelings,
impressions, and memory. It is very instinctive, automatic, and is considered quick thinking. System 2
on the other hand, is alert during complex problem solving, while dealing with facts and knowledge,
and is attentive while working with difficult calculations. For example, a problem such as 24 x 13, this
takes more time and knowledge to figure out (System 2), rather then recognizing an emotion from face
expressions (System 1). When System 1 is strained, your System 2 steps in to help you process
through that specific instant. Now aside from the psychological portion of this book, Mr. Kahneman
divulges about a consolidated economic analysis with elemental intuitions from the psychological
perspective; such as, luck and skill, overconfidence, risks in the stock market, factors of success and
the decision making process. This book is overall concluded with the understanding of behavioral
economics, which is the social and cognitive components on economic decisions that are defined by
individuals and have consequences that reflect from making those decisions and taking those risks.

Essay On Improvement In Medicine
An Improvement in Medicine
In the field of medicine, there has been a recent advancement of new oral anticoagulant drugs used to
treat many conditions such as atrial fibrillation, pulmonary embolism, and deep vein thrombosis.
Anticoagulant drugs have reduced the rate of strokes by 50% and are known to prevent clotting. In
1954, Warfarin was the only approved anticoagulant drug. However, recently the FDA has approved
three new oral anticoagulant drugs called Pradaxa, Xarelto, and Eliquis.
The first new oral anticoagulant (NOAC) to be approved was dabigatran. The Food and Drug
Administration and European Union approved it in 2008. The trade name for dabigatran is Pradaxa.

Thus, the dosage of warfarin must be carefully adjusted to keep the blood thinning effect in the right
range (Unger). Such problems have fostered research in the field of coagulation, and new oral agents
that selectively target coagulation factors have become available (Roca 847 854). The FDA conducted
clinical trials to determine the efficiency of the three new oral anticoagulants compared to warfarin. In
their trails which included more than 50,000 patients from around the globe, the FDA concluded that
the three drugs were either equivalent to or more effective than warfarin at preventing strokes. Some
advantages of taking these new drugs are there is no need to have periodic blood tests to monitor the
dosage of medicine. Of particular interest, the three new drugs were substantially less likely than
warfarin to cause a particular kind of bleeding leading to stroke a hemorrhagic stroke, a stroke caused
by bleeding into the brain, which is different from the strokes caused by the clots that go to the brain
in atrial fibrillation (Unger). The effects after someone stops taking Pradaxa, Xarelto, and Eliquis only
last for a day or two, but the effects of warfarin can last for many days after the medication is stopped.
In an interview with Dr. Charles Frye, he explained how he determines which NOAC is the best to use

Nationwide, The Food Truck Industry
I. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Nationwide, the Food Truck industry has rocketed, with Miami being the second place city with
largest food truck scene. We plan on developing application which lets users connect to to their
favorite local food trucks, and have the ability to track, locate the nearest, place an order and share
reviews, and pictures through their social media. We noticed there was a lack of apps with these
features in the market; as of now, only one application is available on the market, which has a very
limited selection of 15 of the 300+ food trucks.
The first step taken was measuring the interest of the market for such an app. We published an online
survey to substantiate whether our idea was appealing to our market segmentation, which is both, men
and women, from 18 to 65 years old with an interest in street food and residing in the Miami area. The
results of this survey was encouraging.
Second, we had to find out what features we would include in this application. Through another online
survey and a focus group, we weighed and reflected on the responses gathered and came to the
following conclusion: Consumers want a simple, instinctive mobile app that allows them to track, see
reviews and pictures, order, and pay.

Spirometry Lab Report
The overarching goal of this experiment was to measure respiratory volumes and capacities using
spirometry (Marieb Smith, 2016). Spirometry is a technique which makes use of a device known as a
spirometer in order to determine values for inspiratory reserve volume, tidal volume, expiratory
reserve volume, as well as others, and thus has a practical use in the fields of anatomy and medicine
(Marieb Smith, 2016). Consequently, since this experiment deals extensively with the processes
involved in respiration, it is essential to have a sufficient level of background information on the
anatomy and physiology of the lungs (Marieb Smith, 2016).

Beginning with the inspiratory reserve volume, abbreviated as IRV, this value refers to how much air
one is able to actively inspire (Marieb Smith, 2016). This is followed by tidal volume, or TV, which is
the amount of air a person takes in and then expels in every breath under standard conditions (Marieb
Smith, 2016). The third value measured in this experiment was the expiratory reserve volume,
shortened to ERV, which denotes how much air one actively expires after breathing normally, or after
a tidal volume expiration (Marieb Smith, 2016). The final value was the total lung capacity, or TLC,
which refers to the total amount of air the lungs can hold after a having put in the maximum effort in

Oedipus Rex Role Of Fate
Over the centuries, people have pondered over the influence divine or diabolical power and how free
an individual is in making choices that are their very own. The ancient Greeks acknowledged the role
of Fate in their daily lives as a terrifying and unstoppable force. The messages of prophecies often
times offered the questioner incomplete, evasive answers that both enlightened and darkened the tragic
hero s near future. Writers such a Sophocles questioned the power of the prophecies and the power
they had to convey the will of the gods and moral choice. Oedipus actions are matched by his over
confidence and impulsion to make him prey to the very fate he wishes to avoid. His desperate escape
of fate arises from the attempt to live without committing heinous offenses of the prophecies provided
of him killing his father and marrying his mother. In lines 341 347, Teiresias enforces the role of Fate
by saying, Well it will come what will, though I be mute[...]I have no more to say, storm as though
willst, and give the reign to all thy pent up rage. Translated, Teiresias insists that regardless of what

The Testament Of The Old Testament God Essay
Throughout the Old Testament God continually manifests himself to humanity. When He is speaking
to the prophets, leaders, or the nation of Israel, He presents opportunities for obedience in the form of
covenants. Faithfulness is also needed to secure an association with God. Obedience is probably the
most difficult aspect of mankind s relationship with God. These covenants are the essential promises

(Pentateuch, History, Poetry /Wisdom, and Prophets) from the Old Testament that our best is only

The Pentateuch or otherwise known as the Torah is a five part literary composition. These
compositions contain the books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. The main
story is about the founding of Israel and their exodus out of Egypt. In Genesis 9: 11 17, there is one of
the covenants God made with man, Noah.
First of all, what is a covenant? A covenant is an agreement and union between two individuals.
Conditional and unconditional are the two basic types. In a conditional (bilateral) covenant, both
parties need to fulfill it. An unconditional (unilateral) covenant only one of the parties must act, and
nothing else is required from the other. This covenant was made after God had flooded the earth due to
man s wickedness and evil. God wanted no part of a relationship with mankind. Noah, who had been
always humble and faithful, was spared

A Struggle For Employees Inside The Working Environment
Outside and interior strengths make a struggle for employees inside the working environment. With a
battling economy and perpetually expanding costs for sustenance, gas, utilities, and different items,
these outer hassles place struggle on workers home lives. Employees convey those outside clashes to
work. These outside hassles additionally put intense financial conditions on employers. The
workforces also feel the boss working environment loads as well. Chatter, bits of gossip and dread of
decreases in the workforce, cutting back because of changing innovation and outside exchange,
diminishments and terminations in hours worked with the loss of advantages, and loss of business
makes agitation and precariousness for both bosses and representatives. Indeed, even those employees
who are sufficiently fortunate to keep their occupations amid a financial downturn are tasked with
substantial workloads to compensate for the diminishments in the workforce and rare assets. These all
in mix prompts the condition, where organizations are compelled to create more with darling measure
of assets. The outer powers increase with a focused on the economy and typical interior strengths are
an actuality of working. Strains amongst bosses and employees, pay uniformity, security issues,
diverse interests and values among employees, identity conflicts between the workforce, poor
correspondence, and top down the absence of correspondence are some inward elements that impact

Taking a Look at an Electromagnetic Relay
Patent Project: Electromagnetic Relay
Describe the problem: The electromagnetic relay is used many different applications as a switch. It
allows the signal to pass through the relay, when the magnetic coil is turned on, connecting 2 contact
points together. It works as follows: The relay is made with a bobbin, a coil, a fixed magnetic core,
and a movable armature. When the coil is excited, with the magnetic field generated, the armature is
maneuvered such that it will be repositioned when the magnetic field is turned on so that the contacts
touch and the signal travels through the relay. This design was developed in 1825 [1] and has not since
been changed. One drawback to this design is that the utilization of the magnetic flux generated is not
efficient. Thus the electrical power supplied to the relay is not sufficiently used making for a flaw in
the design, a loss of power. More power is used, when less could be consumed if the design were to be
changed. Thus the problem of the current electromagnetic relay is that the power supplied is not used
efficiently, so there is a waste of power. With the new green environmentally friendly consumer
market on the rise, industries want to be able to use as little power in their circuits as possible. Thus
the solution to this power inefficiency is what this innovation tries to affect and hopefully make better.
Describe the solution: This innovation provides a new design for an electromagnetic that is more
efficient in

Exploring the Film Genres of Horror, Science Fiction, and...
What makes people fascinated and amused to watch movies? I think all kinds of movies are, in there
own way, great. Practically the excitement of horror movies, and science and technology of science
fiction movies, and action and enthusiasm in the action movies are some credits that makes people s
engrossment. Even so could all movies create an entertainment and make people experience their
thoughts of imaginations in the real world. What are the most interesting things about these film
genres, which could establish a fantasy world for their fans to escape to their imaginations and live
with it? Participating in suspense, adventure, mysteries, and discovery amuse audiences every time
they watch films. There is specific film genres that have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, researchers said that people might watch thrill as it calls up primal behavior, especially in

the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands.
Science fiction and horror genres involved the human in some slanting direction with the science
world or the natural. Science fiction films are not about science, and here s another secret reveals by
Susan Sontag. Science fiction movies are about disaster, therefore, the differences between science

the extent of killing belongs to the scientist s conflict in horror movies is more spotted than in science

Plan of Investigation
While watching National Hockey League (NHL) games, I often heard the play by play announcer
mention at the start of the third and final period how it would be tough for a team to come back from a
one goal deficit. This led me to wonder just how difficult it was mathematically, and how much
previous periods affected the final one. In this project, I will investigate whether the scores at the end
of the first period affect the final score of NHL games.
I will gather the scores of 200 hockey games between 2005 2008 from the nhl.com website. I chose
these years because the type of hockey before and after the new Collective Bargaining Agreement is
different in terms of goals scored per game, with more goals scored per ... Show more content on

The trendline, known as the line of best fit or the least squares regression line, shows the linear
equation which best explains the sums up the data s trend. The formula on the right is the formula of
the line of best fit.
As can be observed from these plots, teams who win at the end of the first period have a much larger
range of data, with 26 separate points versus 14 separate points on Team B s graph. Since the scatter
plot does not use a thicker dot when numerous teams share one place on the plot, this suggests that
teams who lose at the end of the first period tend to have similar scores, as they have twelve fewer
points than teams who win.
If a team loses in the first period, this means that its X range must be smaller than that of the winning
team. Since 9/26, or almost 35%, of Team A s points are on 3 or 4 on the X axis, it is logical for Team
A to have a larger range. However, even disregarding 3 and 4 on the X axis, Team A s range is still
larger than that of Team B s. There is a greater spread of data on the Y axis of Team A, as well.
Note that when Team A scores one goal in the first period, there are instances of them ending the third
period with five or six goals. However, when Team B scores one goal in the first period, the most
goals they ended up with is only four. This pattern is repeated when the teams score two goals in the
first period. With Team A, there are instance(s) when they end up with seven; with

Foils In Beowulf
Foils in literature are characters that contrast another character, highlighting important traits or flaws.
Foils are often mine characters that are polarized from the main protagonist/antagonist. In Beowulf,
Unferth is the foil to the hero, Beowulf; he s a complete opposite to the hero. Unferth is jealous and
seeks to disparage Beowulf, has lesser morals and isn t a hero. When Beowulf arrived, Unferth was
immediately jealous of him for his infamy, with Beowulf s coming, / his sea braving, [making] him
sick with envy: / he could not brook or abide the fact / that anyone else alive under heaven might
enjoy greater regard that he did (44). Unferth wanted to remain the hero for his people, and felt

How Did The Founding Fathers Maintain Religious Freedom In...
After the revolutionary war the founding fathers set out to create a new government that would be fair
and just, and that the people would control. One of the first concepts they knew they wanted to have
was religious freedom here in this new country. Previously when they were under British control the
church of england was the only church they were allowed to go to and worship in. The church of
england also had a say in the way they were governed. These two things frustrated the colonists very
much and they wanted to make sure they would never have anything like that again in their newly
established country. While writing the constitution the founding fathers said Congress shall make no
law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. When they said
this they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first reason is that it was tyrannical and against our unalienable rights to have a religion forced
upon us, one that a lot of people may not believe in, but they would still be forced to worship and
participate in church activities. This would no longer be a free country if we were forced to attend a
church. The second reason is the fact that having a national church would give them power to make
decisions in government and be able to control the citizens the when the citizens should have absolute
power over all laws being voted on and all elected representatives. The founding fathers wanted to
steer clear of all possible future tyranny which is why they created this separation of church and state
and freedom of religion. This was the best way to create a fair and just government for this new
country they just fought for to keep. If we did not have separation of church and state then I would not

The Tell-Tale Heart Crazy
Tell me, would you kill a person because his eye happened to annoy you? In Edgar Allen Poe s story,
The Tell Tale Heart, that is precisely what the narrator does. He is insane, and he is not to be trusted
with the information he is presenting based on things he does or hears. I heard all things in the heaven
and in the earth. I heard many things in hell (1). This evidence proves my claim that the narrator is
mad, and because he is mad, the things he tells us, are just things that he is envisioning. In this quote
the narrator says he hears things from hell. Which is not possible. He thinks that he is hearing things
from hell, but in reality, all the sounds are in his head. He is imagining sounds from hell something
sane people do not do. Some more evidence is, My head ached, and I fancied a ... Show more content

He had the eye of a vulture a pale blue eye, with a film over it. Whenever it fell upon me, my blood
ran cold; and so by degrees very gradually I made up my mind to take the life of the old man (2). This
citation shows the narrator wanting to kill the old man. Killing a person does not convey that he is
insane and that his story is not to be believed. What does show that he is mad, is the reason for killing
the old man. His cause for committing murder is that the man s eye was bothering him. This is
definitely not what a sane person kills someone over. The last piece of evidence I will present is, I
foamed I raved I swore! I swung the chair upon which I had been sitting, and grated it upon the
boards, but the noise arose over all and continually increased. It grew louder louder louder! (17). He is
hearing it extremely loud in his ears now. This can only mean one thing he is mad. The narrator is
yelling and swearing when he can just ask the officers if they hear something. Either way, they would
say no, because he is visualizing the sound in his

Olson and Roberts introduces the chapter when the NVA launched major offensive against the US

All participants in the process will be inevitably influenced by the assertions made in this speech,
many of which are inconsistent with the presumption of innocence. Even assuming the unlawful
command influence was not intentional, it nonetheless deprives my client of his constitutional right to

The Cost Of A Cell Phone Network On Meaningless Crimes And...
All cell phones register their location with cell phone networks several times a minute, and this
function cannot be turned off while the phone is getting a wireless signal (Cell Phone Location
Tracking Public Records 1). Inmates can be monitored in many different ways, from cell phones to
tracking anklets. The Tracking Release Program should be put into effect more than it already is. This
change will stop the waste of tax payer s money on meaningless crimes and other people s mistakes. It
costs $700.00 a month to house one inmate and the cost of one employee s hourly wage of $10.50
(U.S. Marshal Service 2). Compare the cost to house one inmate to the cost of hiring one employee.
The cost is substantially different. By the end, you will have a basic knowledge of how this program
will save money and create jobs.
First of all, not all inmates should be subjected to prison for their crimes. For example, not every
crime is considered high priority, so this would mean they have a misdemeanor. A misdemeanor is a
low level case where the person gets prosecuted, but not labeled as a high risk. With a misdemeanor,
inmates could be put into the tracking reform program. The people who qualify for this would be
breaking and entering, drugs, stalking, and probation for an entry level parole. The program also
provides an extra layer of supervision with the goal of enhancing public safety in the community
(Jackson 1). This program creates a safety net by monitoring the time and

Webber grew up in South Kensington to parents William who was a professional in theory and composition at the Royal College of Music in England and Jean who was a singer and a violinist in the same school. By age three Webber was playing the violin. Then by age six he composed his own songs. Then by age nine he had a piece of music published in the magazine, Music Teacher. Webber soon married 18 year old Sarah Hugill in 1972. With their career (Webber and Rice) on the move they came together and wrote Jesus Christ Superstar . They set rock music to the story of Jesus Christ which was a big success. Then they wrote Jeeves in 1975 and Rice did not want anything to do with it. That s when Alan Ayckbourn wrote the lyrics. Then Webber and Rice came together again and wrote Evita a story about the first lady of Argentina married to Juan Peron. This was also a huge success. Then they broke up for time to recharge . Rice said. This is when Webber created the musical Cats . When Webber was a child he read, Old Possum s Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot. This would soon be turned into the musical Cats . All of the lyrics were there, he wanted to add some flavor to them, and so he called on Rice and Trevor Nunn to help. Nunn used to direct the shows that Webber proposed. Webber chose Nunn s lyrics over Rice s, thus Cats was born in 1981. He soon divorced his wife Sara Hugill and moved on to the actress Sarah Brightman in 1984. Later Brightman was cast as the female role in The Phantom of the Opera as Christine Daae. In 1990 Webber announced his divorce with Brightman after she finished touring with The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber in the summer. They planed to work things out. • 3. Inequality In South Bronx Essay Many inner cities within the United States are comprised of people living in poverty and many of these people are people of color. One of the largest and poorest neighborhoods in the United States is the South Bronx. The South Bronx is extensively racially segregated and the plights that the residents face are horrendous (Kozol, 1995, p. 3). It is conservative belief that the people of color that inhabit the deteriorating inner cities of the US remain in such dire conditions is attributable to their own individual choices, lifestyle, and culture. • 5. Dilma Rousseff s Operation Car Wash Scandal Things have begun to go wrong in Brazil since its President, Dilma Rousseff was elected for a second term in October 2014. After she won her second presidential election, her approval ratings have plunged. 63% of respondents around the country said her government was bad or terrible, with only 13% saying it was good or excellent . Experts say these numbers reflect the voter s disappointment in finding out about the corruption scandal with the state controlled oil company Petrobras and that she may have manipulated Brazil s account books to hide a growing deficit. Rousseff was head of the board at Petrobras from 2003 to 2010 and most of her opponents said she must have known about the scandal. The investigation showed that Operation Car Wash has put in important figures from President Rousseff s Workers Party but also some of her opponents. The impeachment was based off the claim that she manipulated the government s accounts when she was seeking re election. Millions of Brazilians went into the streets in an anti government protest on March 13. Figures have suggested about 3.5 million people took part in it in more than 300 cities across Brazil. Point of View explain the point of view from which The Interlopers is told. The story is told in the limited omniscient point of view. Saki tells the story in third person, but from the viewpoint of von Gradwitz, looking at events through his eyes. We know everything that goes on in the mind of von Gradwitz, but nothing about what Znaeym is feeling or thinking unless, of course, he expresses his feelings in some way. While we can observe the external actions of both characters, we see into von Gradwitz s mind. Our consciousness is limited to von Gradwitz, as we see events from his viewpoint only. 6. • 7. Is Islam Oppressive To Women Is Islam oppressive to women? This is the big question that scholars in religious and women s studies are constantly asking. Religious and women s studies scholars are always looking at the world s major religions and questioning how these religions treat women. Even on the personal level, women who belong to a certain religious tradition have to evaluate about how they are treated and if they are going to stay in the religion as in, try to reform it or leave the tradition. This is a common struggle for women around the world. • 8. The Purpose Of Spending A Day Without Technology Let s give our soul the rest that truly deserves. The purpose of spending a day without technology is to detoxify ourselves from the continuous barrage of information. Just as Mark Bittman mentions in his article, I felt connected to myself rather than my computer. I had time to think, and distance from normal demands. (4) We are so accustomed to rely on technology that we seem to forget what would become of us without it. Internet, radio, television, cell phones, video games and other technological amenities are part of our daily life, in a way that sometimes we can not see reality outside a screen. We have shelved conversations face to face, the pleasure of enjoying the birds sing or simply appreciate nature around us. Professor David Levy declares, Living a good life requires a kind of balance, a bit of quiet. There are questions about the limits of the brain and the body, and there are parallels here to the environmental movement. (2) Talking about the environment, not only helps us to live without the use of technology for one day but it helps the environment as well. A great way to save money and take care of the environment is to decide to give up the technology just for one day. We need to take care of our soul or inner self or however we want to call it, not for vanity but sanity. Since we get up in the morning and until we go to bed at night we are bombarded with data and information such as emails, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, news, programs, text ... • 9. Media Impact On Social Media Social network sites lie at the locus of our contemporary digital media ecosystem. They capture a substantial share of our time and daily media attention, having seemingly colonised our everyday life. They are frequently at the forefront of news and popular culture content. They appear to have transfigured nearly every aspect of our sociality. And they have certainly inspired a great number of folk theories about their effects on society. In fact, the use of SNSs now constitutes the most popular Internet activity in many counties, including the UK. Research studies have proffered many different views of the effects of SNSs on society. Some scholars have described SNSs as a transformative force that has come to dominate the zeitgeist of a generation, spawning new communities, where there were once just distributed individuals. Others have depicted SNSs as a risky technology that has blurred the boundaries of the private sphere, frequently and inadvertently exposing personal data to unintended audiences. As such, writing a thesis on social media choice and commitment in a time when society and mass media appears to be oversaturated with SNSs was no easy task. On the one hand, any research findings are bound to be instantly compared to hardwired conventional wisdom and popular beliefs, which are oftentimes inaccurate since they are not backed up by any empirical evidence. On the other hand, the rapid technological change of social media makes research in this area a moving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Comparison Of King Lear And King Lear In the play King Lear Shakespeare puts emphasis on the ignorance of both King Lear and Gloucester by revealing their personalities in similar ways. This allows the reader to better understand the characters as well as give a point of reflection for both characters. Throughout the play, Shakespeare develops King Lear and Gloucester into parallel characters by creating similarities in their relationship with their children, their blindness, in both a literal and figurative sense and their doomed fate. Within the first act of the play, it is shown that both Gloucester and King Lear are ignorant to their children s true character. First, when King Lear is determining the division of his kingdom, he only hears the surface of what Reagan and Goneril are saying. Although they claim to love him beyond what can be valued, (1.1.57) it is becomes obvious that these are just words, rather than truths. In a similar fashion, Gloucester is quick to believe the words of Edmund. Edmund claims to have found a letter from his brother Edgar plotting to kill their father. Just as King Lear was manipulated by his daughters, Gloucester falls for Edmund s trap. Gloucester banishes Edgar on the spot and now it under Edmund s thumb. While Gloucester turns against his eldest son, King Lear turn against his youngest daughter Cordelia. She is banished as well, similarly to Edgar, for being honest with her father. • 12. Economic History of St. Louis Davey Oetting 12/1/06 History of St. Louis St. Louis was acquired from France by the United States under President Thomas Jefferson in 1803, as part of the Louisiana Purchase. It was founded by the French in 1764 when Auguste Chouteau established a fur trading post and Pierre Laclède Liguest, a New Orleans merchant, founded a town at the present site. They named it after King Louis XV of France and his patron saint, Louis IX. From 1770 to 1803, St. Louis was a Spanish possession, but it was ceded back to France in 1803 in accordance with the Treaty of San Ildefonso (1800), only to be acquired by the U.S. as part of the Louisiana Purchase later that year. • 13. Thinking, Fast And Slow By Daniel Kahneman This distinctive book called, Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman, is one of very few exquisite readings I ve completed so far. Daniel Kahneman is a psychologist in Princeton University, and due to his research, he won a Nobel Prize in 2002 in economics. In the beginning of his book, he speaks of our cognitive System 1 and System 2 ways of thinking. System 1 generates feelings, impressions, and memory. It is very instinctive, automatic, and is considered quick thinking. System 2 on the other hand, is alert during complex problem solving, while dealing with facts and knowledge, and is attentive while working with difficult calculations. For example, a problem such as 24 x 13, this takes more time and knowledge to figure out (System 2), rather then recognizing an emotion from face expressions (System 1). When System 1 is strained, your System 2 steps in to help you process through that specific instant. Now aside from the psychological portion of this book, Mr. Kahneman divulges about a consolidated economic analysis with elemental intuitions from the psychological perspective; such as, luck and skill, overconfidence, risks in the stock market, factors of success and the decision making process. This book is overall concluded with the understanding of behavioral economics, which is the social and cognitive components on economic decisions that are defined by individuals and have consequences that reflect from making those decisions and taking those risks. ... • 15. Essay On Improvement In Medicine An Improvement in Medicine In the field of medicine, there has been a recent advancement of new oral anticoagulant drugs used to treat many conditions such as atrial fibrillation, pulmonary embolism, and deep vein thrombosis. Anticoagulant drugs have reduced the rate of strokes by 50% and are known to prevent clotting. In 1954, Warfarin was the only approved anticoagulant drug. However, recently the FDA has approved three new oral anticoagulant drugs called Pradaxa, Xarelto, and Eliquis. The first new oral anticoagulant (NOAC) to be approved was dabigatran. The Food and Drug Administration and European Union approved it in 2008. The trade name for dabigatran is Pradaxa. Ribaroxaban was the second new oral anticoagulant to be approved ... Such problems have fostered research in the field of coagulation, and new oral agents that selectively target coagulation factors have become available (Roca 847 854). The FDA conducted clinical trials to determine the efficiency of the three new oral anticoagulants compared to warfarin. In their trails which included more than 50,000 patients from around the globe, the FDA concluded that the three drugs were either equivalent to or more effective than warfarin at preventing strokes. Some advantages of taking these new drugs are there is no need to have periodic blood tests to monitor the dosage of medicine. Of particular interest, the three new drugs were substantially less likely than warfarin to cause a particular kind of bleeding leading to stroke a hemorrhagic stroke, a stroke caused by bleeding into the brain, which is different from the strokes caused by the clots that go to the brain in atrial fibrillation (Unger). The effects after someone stops taking Pradaxa, Xarelto, and Eliquis only last for a day or two, but the effects of warfarin can last for many days after the medication is stopped. We noticed there was a lack of apps with these features in the market; as of now, only one application is available on the market, which has a very limited selection of 15 of the 300+ food trucks. The first step taken was measuring the interest of the market for such an app. We published an online survey to substantiate whether our idea was appealing to our market segmentation, which is both, men and women, from 18 to 65 years old with an interest in street food and residing in the Miami area. The results of this survey was encouraging. Second, we had to find out what features we would include in this application. Through another online survey and a focus group, we weighed and reflected on the responses gathered and came to the following conclusion: Consumers want a simple, instinctive mobile app that allows them to track, see reviews and pictures, order, and pay. II. PRODUCTS AND SERVICES NOMNOM is a mobile app which provides time saving features for our customers who are are interested in eating or ordering from their favorite local food truck. They define experiential learning theory, student learning styles and learning space in this report. Experiential learning theory have six propositions: Learning is best conceived as a process, not in terms of outcomes ; All learning is relearning ; Learning requires the resolution of conflicts between dialectically opposed modes of adaptation to the world ; Learning is a holistic process of adaptation to the world ; Learning results from synergetic transactions between the person and the environment ; and Learning is the process of creating knowledge . This report also point out four basic learning styles include diverging, assimilating, converging, and accommodating. Authors think learning space was influenced by people and environment, under this kind of situation learning space can be formed into the behaviors which combines position, region, locomotion, equilibrium of forces, positive and negative valence, barriers in the person and the world, conflict, and goal . Then they use learning space framework method and depend on three different universities in order to study learning space. • 19. Spirometry Lab Report The overarching goal of this experiment was to measure respiratory volumes and capacities using spirometry (Marieb Smith, 2016). Spirometry is a technique which makes use of a device known as a spirometer in order to determine values for inspiratory reserve volume, tidal volume, expiratory reserve volume, as well as others, and thus has a practical use in the fields of anatomy and medicine (Marieb Smith, 2016). Consequently, since this experiment deals extensively with the processes involved in respiration, it is essential to have a sufficient level of background information on the anatomy and physiology of the lungs (Marieb Smith, 2016). Beginning with the inspiratory reserve volume, abbreviated as IRV, this value refers to how much air one is able to actively inspire (Marieb Smith, 2016). This is followed by tidal volume, or TV, which is the amount of air a person takes in and then expels in every breath under standard conditions (Marieb Smith, 2016). The third value measured in this experiment was the expiratory reserve volume, shortened to ERV, which denotes how much air one actively expires after breathing normally, or after a tidal volume expiration (Marieb Smith, 2016). The final value was the total lung capacity, or TLC, which refers to the total amount of air the lungs can hold after a having put in the maximum effort in inspiration, and can also be calculated by the following formula: TLC=TV+IRV+ERV+RV (Marieb Smith, 2016). The ancient Greeks acknowledged the role of Fate in their daily lives as a terrifying and unstoppable force. Writers such a Sophocles questioned the power of the prophecies and the power they had to convey the will of the gods and moral choice. In Article II of the Constitution, the vesting clause and other clauses account, but poorly describe, the powers, role in foreign policy, and duties of the president granting room for interpretation and adaptation to national emergencies. When He is speaking to the prophets, leaders, or the nation of Israel, He presents opportunities for obedience in the form of covenants. Faithfulness is also needed to secure an association with God. Obedience is probably the most difficult aspect of mankind s relationship with God. These covenants are the essential promises and pacts between God and humanity. I will present evidence from each of the Four Canons (Pentateuch, History, Poetry /Wisdom, and Prophets) from the Old Testament that our best is only possible by obeying God. [PENTATEUCH] The Pentateuch or otherwise known as the Torah is a five part literary composition. These compositions contain the books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. The main story is about the founding of Israel and their exodus out of Egypt. In Genesis 9: 11 17, there is one of the covenants God made with man, Noah. First of all, what is a covenant? A covenant is an agreement and union between two individuals. Conditional and unconditional are the two basic types. In a conditional (bilateral) covenant, both parties need to fulfill it. An unconditional (unilateral) covenant only one of the parties must act, and nothing else is required from the other. This covenant was made after God had flooded the earth due to man s wickedness and evil. God wanted no part of a relationship with mankind. • 24. Taking a Look at an Electromagnetic Relay Patent Project: Electromagnetic Relay Describe the problem: The electromagnetic relay is used many different applications as a switch. It allows the signal to pass through the relay, when the magnetic coil is turned on, connecting 2 contact points together. It works as follows: The relay is made with a bobbin, a coil, a fixed magnetic core, and a movable armature. When the coil is excited, with the magnetic field generated, the armature is maneuvered such that it will be repositioned when the magnetic field is turned on so that the contacts touch and the signal travels through the relay. This design was developed in 1825 [1] and has not since been changed. One drawback to this design is that the utilization of the magnetic flux generated is not efficient. Thus the electrical power supplied to the relay is not sufficiently used making for a flaw in the design, a loss of power. More power is used, when less could be consumed if the design were to be changed. Thus the problem of the current electromagnetic relay is that the power supplied is not used efficiently, so there is a waste of power. With the new green environmentally friendly consumer market on the rise, industries want to be able to use as little power in their circuits as possible. Thus the solution to this power inefficiency is what this innovation tries to affect and hopefully make better. The formula on the right is the formula of the line of best fit. As can be observed from these plots, teams who win at the end of the first period have a much larger range of data, with 26 separate points versus 14 separate points on Team B s graph. Since the scatter plot does not use a thicker dot when numerous teams share one place on the plot, this suggests that teams who lose at the end of the first period tend to have similar scores, as they have twelve fewer points than teams who win. If a team loses in the first period, this means that its X range must be smaller than that of the winning team. Since 9/26, or almost 35%, of Team A s points are on 3 or 4 on the X axis, it is logical for Team A to have a larger range. However, even disregarding 3 and 4 on the X axis, Team A s range is still larger than that of Team B s. There is a greater spread of data on the Y axis of Team A, as well. Note that when Team A scores one goal in the first period, there are instances of them ending the third period with five or six goals. However, when Team B scores one goal in the first period, the most goals they ended up with is only four. This pattern is repeated when the teams score two goals in the first period. After the revolutionary war the founding fathers set out to create a new government that would be fair and just, and that the people would control. Previously when they were under British control the church of england was the only church they were allowed to go to and worship in. The church of england also had a say in the way they were governed. The second reason is the fact that having a national church would give them power to make decisions in government and be able to control the citizens the when the citizens should have absolute power over all laws being voted on and all elected representatives. All cell phones register their location with cell phone networks several times a minute, and this function cannot be turned off while the phone is getting a wireless signal (Cell Phone Location Tracking Public Records 1). Inmates can be monitored in many different ways, from cell phones to tracking anklets. The Tracking Release Program should be put into effect more than it already is. This change will stop the waste of tax payer s money on meaningless crimes and other people s mistakes. It costs $700.00 a month to house one inmate and the cost of one employee s hourly wage of $10.50 (U.S. Marshal Service 2). Compare the cost to house one inmate to the cost of hiring one employee. The cost is substantially different. By the end, you will have a basic knowledge of how this program will save money and create jobs. First of all, not all inmates should be subjected to prison for their crimes. For example, not every crime is considered high priority, so this would mean they have a misdemeanor. A misdemeanor is a low level case where the person gets prosecuted, but not labeled as a high risk. With a misdemeanor, inmates could be put into the tracking reform program. The people who qualify for this would be breaking and entering, drugs, stalking, and probation for an entry level parole.
