2. Network Speed
Overview [WINNIE]
As the technology world evolves and develops faster and better every day, it puts new demands of
speed and throughput on the network that supports it. Today especially, we live in a world where
everyone is mobile, and it is expected that mobile networks keep pace with the innovations in
technology. The successor of 2G and 3G mobile network standard is the 4G mobile network standard.
The emergence of 4G, nonetheless, should provide faster and better mobile network connectivity to
support the newer and ever more demanding technologies born every day. The emergence of 4G
mobile network technology is aimed at offering higher data speeds and the ability to roam across
multiple heterogeneous wireless networks for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the convergence evolution, it is expected that the trend of progressive information technologies
will focus more on mobile and widespread media convergence and new services to come.[3]
Broadband Services [WINNIE]
As the basis for enabling multimedia communication, broadband services naturally calls for media
convergence that will be based on packet transport to promote the integration of various media on
different behaviors. A lead to a demand for similar services in mobile communication environment is
expected to increase with the growth in broadband services like cable, DSL, optical fiber access
systems and office or home LANs. 4G service application characteristics will likely enable broadband
service to be low cost, high coverage of wide area, and wide variety of service capabilities. [4]
Interactive BCN (All IP) with Home Networking, Telemetric, Sensor Network Services [WINNIE]
The evolution of an All IP network is inevitable with the technologies now becoming more
collaborative and indispensible. An ALL IP unified network converged services, providing the next
generation telecommunications network solutions will transform, covering fixed, mobile and IP

3. Rape Is A Serious Problem
Only rapists know when they will strike their prey with sexual assault. The victims, both men and
women, never see themselves in such a situation. But, what if both the victim and rapist are equally to
blame in that situation? What if women could be able to and should do everything they can to prevent
being raped? Is it possible that victims are not doing everything they can to prevent rape or defend
themselves when they are being violated? The argument of to whom the fault actually belongs to has
been a long occurring ordeal that perhaps may never be resolved. Rape is a serious problem, which is
why it is one of the most highly debated topics in today s society and media. Many actors and
actresses have spoken out against rape, some are even victims. There has also been a growing amount
of concern towards women expressed by many anonymous Twitter accounts. Those accounts have
helped make teenagers and other social network users more aware of rape culture.
According to the Marshall University Women s Center, rape culture is an environment in which rape is
prevalent and in which sexual violence against women is normalized and excused in the media and
popular culture ( Women s Center marshall.edu page 1). Women believe that rape culture is
emphasized through arrogant language, women being objectified by men, the overuse of television
sexual violence, and teaching the victims not to be raped instead of teaching the rapist not to rape.

4. World War One and The Middle East Essays
Introduction Over the course of human history, wars have always created, destroyed or enveloped
nations, states or empires. Examples of these include the Final War of the Roman Republic, which
culminated with the Battle of Actium in 31 BCE, to the Franco Prussian War of 1871 which created a
unified German state. However, World War One is known to have had the greatest impact on human
civilization. It dragged in almost every continent into the conflict, halted global trade, led to the
demolition of four empires, and gave nationalism everywhere a boost. One interesting factor about the
First World War is the extent to which it had a tremendous impact on the Middle East. Many
westerners today would only remember it by reading Erich Maria ... Show more content on

The link to the Middle East was bridged when the Ottoman Empire decided to join the Central
Powers. Their reasoning behind this decision emanated from the fact that the Germans were seen as
guaranteed victors since they were already the most industrialized state in Europe, had the experience
of defeating France in 1871, and could move troops and equipment quickly where needed via their
vast railway network. Another second factor was the proximity of Russia and the ambitions of the
Austrians in the Balkans. Regarding the Allies, they assumed that the war would be quick and decisive
just as the Central Powers assumed as well (Implementation of the Schlieffen Plan) and had no need
for an alliance with the Ottomans but they did inhibit plans to distribute the Ottoman provinces when
the war was over amongst themselves. However, they suffered a series of setbacks. By the fall of
1914, the British, French and Germans were all bogged down in trench warfare in Belgium and
France. Furthermore in 1915, the Allies, in an attempt to alleviate the burden of fighting on the
Western Front, decided to land troops in Gallipoli with the objective of knocking the Ottomans out
from the war. The campaign ended in disaster. As a result of this failure, the British decided to
establish contact with Sharif Husayn, caretaker of Mecca and of the Banu Hashim clan, with the
promise of supporting him in the creation of an Arab

5. Opioid Drugs And Their Receptor
CHAPTER 1. INTRODUCTION
1.1. History of opioid research
Opioid drugs and their receptor is one of the most extensively studying areas in pharmacology. This
field of research really began from isolation of morphine, an active ingredient of opium, by German
pharmacist Friedrich Sertürner in 1989. The compound he managed to isolate was called morphine
after Morpheus, the Greek god of dream. Later Pierre Robiquet in France isolated the second
predominant alcholoid of opium, codeine. After the discovery that morphine can be used as anesthetic
in some medical procedures, it became widely used during surgeries (Brownstein, 1993). In 1898, the
Bayer Company in Germany synthesized another opioid compound, heroin. Heroin was a non
prescription drug, which was thought to be more potent than morphine in producing analgesia, and
more powerful than codeine in cough suppression. The legal production of heroin was suspended in
1925 when high levels of heroin addiction were noticed (Hosztafi, 2001, Tsisanova, 2012). In 1939,
Otto Eisleb synthesized meperidine, first opioid ligand structurally not related to morphine. This was
followed by the discovery of methadone by Max Bochmühl and Gustav Ehrhart just before the Second
World War in unfortunate attempt to synthesize addiction free opioid (Sneader, 2005, Tsisanova,
2012). 1940s were marked with the discovery of opioid antagonists, nalorphine and naloxone. The
later compound is still widely used in research as well as clinically

6. Gender Expectations In Anna Karenina
Anna Karenina displays a direct reflection of gender expectations in the 19th century. The sole
purpose of women being to take care of their children or to please their husbands. While men are
credited with being the leader and sole provider of the household. The majority of the characters in
this novel follow this superficial guideline, with the rare exception. The societal pressure of gender
norms placed on the characters is significant and inescapable, suggesting that if one breaks these
norms, they will endure great suffering. Women are seen as submissive objects, who must first get and
then always obey their husbands. From the beginning of the novel, the expectation of women being
the housekeepers is shown, when Dolly is cleaning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

7. Pascal’s Wager vs. the Ontological Argument
Pascal s Wager vs. the Ontological Argument
Pascal s Wager was a groundbreaking theory posed by the French philosopher, mathematician, and
physicist Blaise Pascal. Pascal, who is said to be the father of modern probability, felt that that religion
should be approached as a gamble. It was one of the first efforts to incorporate the concept of infinity.
The wager stated that, even though the existence of God cannot be determined through reason, one
should wager as though God exists, because living accordingly, has essentially nothing to lose and
experiences can only be beneficial. Pascal s Wager consists of three arguments. The first is the
argument from super dominance. Pascal wrote: God is, or He is not. But to which side shall we ...

Additionally, he suggests that even if the chance of God existing was a slim one, the reward for
believing is an infinite one (Heaven). Therefore one can conclude that it would just be unwise to doubt
God because one could chance missing out on a substantially enormous reward. Though Pascal s
Wager seems to be a fairly simple concept it has earned many weaknesses, specifically nine. Most of
these stem from the bible, the first being whether believing God is sufficient for salvation because the
bible implies that salvation is dependent on good deeds, baptism, repentance, etc. There is also the
question that involves the matter of which God to believe in. Christians believe in Jesus, God, and the
Holy Spirit meanwhile Muslims believe in Allah also, the Scriptures and the Qur an differ greatly.
Additionally, one must ask if human belief matters at all, and whether heaven really is the ultimate
greatness. Perhaps the biggest arguments are whether one can make themselves believe if they truly
are doubtful, and how do we know God s criteria for salvation? Pascal, himself, would ask whoever is
reading his works to analyze his position and imagine themselves in it. If one truly cannot decide the
matter of God s existence, then a coin toss is the only remaining option. However, placing a wager is

8. Pros And Cons Of The Amazonbasics Standup Patio Heater Cover
The AmazonBasics Standup Patio Heater Cover fits perfectly around the unusual shape of the heater.
Instead of using a shapeless tarp that can turn into a sail in high winds, this heater cover conforms to
the shape of the heater. The cover will keep the heater from being ruined by rain and even snow.
Pros of the AmazonBasics Standup Patio Heater Cover
Waterproof, woven polyester
Click straps
Interlocking seams
Fits standard patio heaters
Tailored fit
Cons of the Patio Heater Cover
Owners might need a stool or small ladder to reach the top
First Impressions
The AmazonBasics Standup Patio Heater comes in an easy to open package. When water and mud
splashes up onto the cover from the ground, it s not going to be as noticeable and glaring when the
material is the same color. We love that the cover has two tones to ensure that it doesn t look messy
and dirty out on the patio.
The cover slips over the bottom of the heater. It shimmies up to the top of the heater quite easily. The
shape of the heater is unusual, so many covers won t fit because they re too small to close around the
wide cone at the top of the heater. This tailor fit assures you the most protection for your outdoor
heater.
Waterproof Materials
The cover is made from 100 percent woven polyester. The underside of the fabric is waterproof to
keep water from seeping into the cover and wetting the heater. Most heaters are propane, so they don t
have to worry about electronics. There are still bits like the ignition that should be wet or they ll
corrode. The waterproof cover will prevent water from sitting on the frame of the heater. Some heaters
have powder coated steel that won t corrode easily, but it s best not to take a chance. Leaving the
heater outdoors leaves it open to rain and dampness, but also dirt and debris flying into the heater s
vents.
Interlocking Seams
9. The wind can act like a battering ram when it s bombarding fabric over time. Any material that is
outside for a few months in the rain and wind can become tattered and shredded. That won t happen
with this cover. The interlocking seams strengthen the material to avoid split seams and tattered fabric.
Tailored Fit
The cover is tailored to fit a certain style of heater. One

10. Similarities Between Judith And Holofernes
I will first employ the method of iconography to explore the figure of Judith in the art historical
tradition, and how the depictions of other artists compare to that of Artemisia Gentileschi.
The theme of Judith and Holofernes takes up a larger space in Gentileschi s oeuvre than any other
subjects. At least five autographed versions of the subject have been preserved, three of which are
rightly appraised as amongst her finest works. The subject is taken from the Book of Judith, which 5
was composed anonymously towards the end of the second century B.C and was a vastly popular
subject in all art forms and periods. It tells the story of a Jewish widow who volunteers to rescue her 6
helpless people when the Assyrian general Holofernes lays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

severs his head with a scimitar. She returns to
Bethulia victorious with the head of her victim, and remains until her death. 7 The story is possibly an
allegorical one in which Judith is the personification of Judaism itself, with the name Bethulia being a
possible variation of the Hebrew Beth Aloa, house of god .
Like the story of David, it s an example of a case in which Israel, historically defined as frail and weak
against her foes, survives due to intelligence and faith rather than strength. Both David and
Judith took heroic action on behalf of their people, both their victories culminated in decapitations as 2
symbols of the triumph of virtue and godliness over vice and corruption. In her depiction of the 8
subject, Gentileschi doubtlessly drew inspiration from Caravaggio s Judith Beheading Holofernes
(Figure 2). His influence on her art is evident through her naturalism, shallow pictorial space, dramatic
use of light, and monumental compositions. The environment in his Judith is similarly

11. Social Aspect Of Reconstruction Essay
Finally, the social aspect of Reconstruction created problems such as violence and unbalance between
African American and southern Confederates. Black rights and freedoms upset many white
southerners who had ordered slaves around for years and caused retaliation from former Confederates.
Violent hate groups began to form such as the Knights of the White Camelia, or the more well known
Ku Klux Klan (Jackson n.p). These organizations sought to maintain white supremacy by suppressing
blacks and government officials in favor of black rights. Methods of lynching, hanging, attacks on
public jailing systems, and other forms of violence spread through the South (History.com n.p).
Perhaps some consider land redistribution an effective solution ... Show more content on

Ideally, a solution to the problems of Reconstruction would eradicate all forms of brutality, but land
redistribution would only further agitate the South. My proposal, though radical, would give white
southerners what they truly wanted all along: more say in the government. Under Lincoln s leadership,
the South felt its voice in government slowly dwindling away. What if the North could give
southerners more sway over northern politics? My plan would impose a law against the individual
profit of northern carpetbaggers in the South. It would also allow the South to build a sort of embassy
in the North as its own form of representation in government, under one condition. In return,
southerners must allow for the aforementioned government run labor camps to function peacefully in
the South. Additionally, each state must accept the five year supervision of a small group of law
enforcement officers trained to maintain racially violent situations. Considering the circumstances,
both the former Confederates and African Americans have a fairly decent deal under my plan. All
white southerners become pardoned, states rejoin the union, no one hangs for treason, carpetbagging
becomes illegal, labor camps repair damaged areas in the South, and southerners reestablish their

12. The Miller s The Crucible Self Reputation
Reputations Matter More Than You Think Self reputation is an important part of keeping pride and
moralities in a person s life, but self absorption can eventually develop from an outstanding care for
reputation. Self absorption is a negative trait found in all people sometimes and it can end up causing
things to go very wrong for yourself and others. Once someone is purely focused on keeping their
reputation and worrying too much of what others think of them, they are overwhelmed by the thought
of hiding all mistakes and always making themselves feel superior to others. Throughout Arthur Miller
s The Crucible self reputation is a major motivation felt by Abigail Williams and Reverend Parris,
which results in Abby accusing innocent people of witchcraft and Parris not helping his people in a
time of need; leaving the town in complete disorder and chaos. Abigail Williams is always making
sure the people of Salem believe her act of innocence and lying to keep her name white in the town.
She wants everyone to think she always tells the truth and is pure, so she will never get in trouble for
the dreadful acts she does. She secretly deceits others to keep them on her side and will make up any
story to get the blame off of her and on someone else. When Parris confronts Abigail about what the
girls did the in woods she says to him with assertion, Uncle, we did dance; let you tell them I

Dramatic development of new technologies and media content diversity, which gained a major boost

information more than ever before. This statement relates to all media sectors. This power is an effect
of the tools that are being published by the contemporary cultural industry. Not only the audiences are

amounts of passionate individuals, who are willing to discover the techniques of professional
production, the prospect for innovations is greater than ever. Social media services are the core point

fostering a sense of the consumers and the servers and blurring the line between them. It also affects
the oligopolistic practices of major media corporations, changing the market and relations between the
big companies and small teams.

Lately, coffee has been in all of its glory. Being more popular than ever, with pumpkin spice lattes,
morning coffee runs, and debates on which shop offers the best cup of coffee. No one ever seems to be
interested in how coffee was discovered, who discovered it, who invented coffee machines, and how
those were invented. There is no limit to the history behind all of these questions. Coffee has been
around for centuries, and has changed history to say the least. The first coffee plants are said to have
come from the Horn of Africa on the shores of the Red Sea. Originally, coffee beans were not used as
a beverage, but eaten. East African tribes would grind the coffee cherries together and mix it with
animal fat, and then the paste would be rolled into little balls. The mixture was said to give warriors
much needed energy for battle (A Brief History). The plants that the beans grow on actually resemble
tiny Christmas trees. Originally the beans are a red color, and actually have a floral scent. The beans
turn their known brown black color when they are roasted, and the darker the color determines how
long they have been roasted. During the 11th century in Ethiopia, goat herder Kaldi noticed his goats
became so active, not wanting to sleep at night, all from the consumption of these berries (The History
of Coffee). Kaldi then took them to his wife, who said they are heaven sent, and must be taken to the
monks. At the monastery, the abot chucked them into the fire claiming

Healthcare inequality mainly revolves around the disparity in the quality of health and health services
among different population groups in the society. It touches on the accessibility of health insurance
and thus the accessibility of quality healthcare services among the different population groups. There
disparities in the access to quality healthcare among the different races and ethnicities, social classes
and between the two genders. These disparities are mainly influenced by and are reflective of the
differences in access to health insurance among these population groups. These disparities ultimately
lead to similar disparities in healthcare services access, health outcomes and the presence of disease
among these different population groups. There are several factors that influence access to health
insurance and quality health services, referred to as determinants of health among the populations.
There are cultural, environmental social and economic determinants to health which create an unfair
playing ground for the different population groups in American society. This paper examines the
social determinants to health, the extent to which they affect access to health insurance and quality
healthcare and ways in which they can be reversed to enable equal access to health insurance and
health care services among these populations. The issue of disparities in access to health insurance and
by extension access to quality healthcare services is important because it affects

of this occurs runs on the microprocessor, which was invented in the early 1970 s. The concept of
binary, which is the language of processors, can be found in history as late as the 1700 s by Gottfried

The recent trend in computer technology is to instead increase the number of cores in the processor
along with the transistors, to maintain proportional scaling of power. As a result, architecture
researchers have started focusing on100 core and 1000 core chips and related research topics and
called for changes to the undergraduate curriculum to solve the parallel programming challenge for
multicore designs at these scales (Esmaeilzadeh 2012). Upcoming chips will be limited by power, thus
higher core counts must provide performance gains despite the worsening energy and speed scaling of
transistors.

21. How Water Shortages Caused The Future Can Produce...
The focus of this essay is how water shortages in the future can produce worldwide food shortages.
Only if we act to improve water use in agriculture will we meet the acute freshwater challenges facing
humankind over the coming 50 years [4]. As the world changes over the next fifty years, the water
struggles that we endure will be seen in the food production around the world. There are many factors
that contribute to this occurring, including global climate change, the increase in water security
vulnerability, and the phenomenon that the world has hit peak water. The world s population has also
changed their average diet over the past 50 years, to consuming more meat and more calories in
general [4]. This dietary change means that each person requires more water to produce their food
than in previous generations. In the Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA) countries as much as
50% of their food is imported [1]. These countries are currently seeing the troubles of not having
enough water to grow and supply them with enough food. In the future other regions of the world may

22. Amelia Earhart
Does anyone actually know what happened to Amelia Earhart? Growing up, Amelia Earhart was
always very outgoing and brave and liked the outdoors. She took an interest in flying at a young age,
but no one knew she would be the first women to fly an airplane. The record setting Amelia Earhart
and her hard life s work ended when she took her last attempted flight around the world.
Amelia Earhart s childhood was full of adventure. She was born on July 24th (Earhart, Amelia) in
Atchison, Kansas. As a child, Amelia was very adventurous and spent her time riding horses and
exploring the outdoors (Stevenson 1). People back then didn t think that girls should do things that
boys were supposed to do and the other way around too. Yet she did many things ... Show more

She set off into the skies with Fred Noonan, an experienced navigator (Buchanan 10), in June 1937 for
her flight around the world (Amelia Earhart). If she made it all the way around the world and back on
this trip, she would be the first women ever to do so, but this was a very tough task that takes a lot of
bravery. For nearly a month, Earhart and Noonan flew from country to country, lofting over oceans,
mountain ranges, deserts, towns, and cities. At every stop, tremendous crowds welcomed them.
(Buchanan 10) This was one of the most exciting things in that time period because nothing like this
had been done before. But it didn t go that smoothly for long. When flying over the Pacific Ocean,
Earhart and Noonan were searching for their next fuel stop. Flying through the rain clouds, Earhart
and Noonan could not find Howland (Buchanan 10) They had to stop soon for fuel or risk going down
into the ocean. She and her plane disappeared somewhere near Howland Island in the Central Pacific
Ocean on July 2nd, 1937 (Earhart, Amelia), in which they got they got the last radio signal from
Earhart and her plane. The world waited with fascination as search teams from the United States Army

One of the largest and most controversial issues we as humans face, includes the protection and
preservation of the natural world we call home. When a small group displays the potential to damage

years of 2004 2009, Greenpeace, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and others established the
Kleercut campaign against Kimberly Clark in order to prevent the destruction of the Boreal forest

destruction of ancient forests like the Boreal. Directly below the prior sentence may be the most

25. Totalitarianism In The Hunger Games
Topic #4 [insert title]
The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins illustrates a dystopian society where the government tries to
apply a perfect society to maintain the power in all of Panem. The author shows an elaborate and
horrifying description of a society not so unlike our own and provides a clear warning about the
danger of governmental control. The government of Panem has a government which controls
everything. The government shows totalitarianism, a post apocalyptic setting, and the world ranks.
These three main points are what shows how the The Hunger Games is a great example of a dystopian
literature.
The Hunger Games promotes the idea of a total government control. The Capitol controls everything
that the twelve districts do. The world of Panem is divided into 12 districts where each district has its
own role to fulfill from luxury to coal mining. Taking the kids from our districts, forcing them to kill
one another while we watch. This is the Capitol s way of reminding us how totally we are at their
mercy (Collins 18). This shows that the districts all pay a yearly sacrifice to the Capitol in the form of
tributes. Another of showing that the Games is a dystopian society is that any evidence of an act of
rebellion will result in the government having to kill anyone who gets in their way. Look how he take
your children and sacrifice them there is nothing you can do. If you lift a finger, we will destroy every
last one of you. Just as we did in District 13 (18).

Was the Japanese American Internment camp mandatory? This is a question that others including me
would want to know the answer to. In this essay I will be explaining reasons why the internment was
not necessary for the Japanese Americans. In my opinion, I think that the internment camp was not
necessary. Three reasons to support my opinion is it caused racism and hysteria, no such measures was
taken against German or italian nationals, and Japanese showed no disloyalty or sabotage during the
whole. This relocation left many Americans with a legacy of shame. Firstly, the Japanese Americans
relocation caused racism and hysteria. For example, in paragraph 4 it states Our unjust imprisonment
was the result of two closely related emotions, racism and hysteria, says Edison Tomimaro Uno. This
evidence supports my claim because after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Japanese Americans felt more
racial hatred than any other race. The attack on Pearl Harbor generated this mass hysteria that put

states It is sobering to recall that the record does not disclose a single case of japanese disloyalty or

IVoltage source inverters (VSI s) are widely used in electric drive applications. Generally inverters
contain certain amount of harmonics in the output. Inverters quality is expressed with the help of
parameters of performance. Parameters like lower order harmonics (LOH), total harmonic distortion
(THD) Distortion Factor basically plays a vital role on the performance of an inverter. Harmonics give
undesirable effects the following undesirable effects [1] [2. Ill effects of harmonics are A. Poor
Quality Supply As all power electronic converters generate harmonic currents, which will be injected
into the utility, causing distortion of the supply waveform.

So harmonics directly effect the system performance. For performance improvement of an inverter it
is desirable to eliminate harmonics. IEEE 519 Standard gives maximum allowable limits for voltage
and current distortions [3].
VSI gives less qualitative outputs with conventional voltage control techniques Output voltage of an
inverter can also be varied by controlling on off periods of its switches. This is the most popular and
efficient method for controlling inverter output voltage.
2.4 Pulse Width Modulation in VSI s
Output Voltage of the Inverter can be modified or controlled by controlling or modifying switching
current, or in case of Power Switches, by controlling or modifying Gate current. This control is
achieved by PWM control. In one of the methods of controlling inverter output voltage, a fixed DC
voltage is given to the inverter and by varying the ON and OFF time of power switches we get a
controlled or modified AC output voltage. This method is popularly called as Pulse Width Modulation
(PWM) method. The features of PWM inverter can be summarized as follows
Filter size can be smaller compared to the filter used with square wave inverter
The inverter has constant dc link voltage and it uses PWM principles for voltage control.
The output voltage waveform improves with respect to harmonic content

Defining Your Business The first step in developing an effective MBO program is to define your
business. Ask yourself the following questions: ! ! ! What business am I in? Is my definition right for
today s market? Do I need to change my business to meet emerging customer needs?
A clear vision of your business is crucial for planning your marketing, product development, buildings
and equipment, and financial and staff needs. For example, a drop in sales caused a small business
manufacturer of metal trash cans to reexamine its product. To regain lost sales, the owner decided to
redefine the product as metal containers and to develop a new marketing plan.
Setting Goals
Long range business goals will be the cornerstone of your company s MBO program. To achieve
these goals, you must have a method to communicate them to your managers and employees. One way
is to bring managers and employees into the process by asking them to help formulate the company s
short and long range goals. If they have a role in establishing the goals, they will be more committed
to achieving them. All goals should relate to and support the long range objectives for the company. In
this way, you can ensure that the goals of all levels of management are consistent. If goals are
incompatible, you may find that employees feel like the middle manager of a research and
development company who exclaimed in a seminar, How can I set my goals when I don
31. Definition Of Good Faith Under English Contract Law
There is no general definition of good faith under English contract law; it is generally a presumption
that two parties will act honestly and fairly with one another. Unlike other systems of law, such as the
French Civil Code, English contract law does not recognise the obligation of good faith . Instead there
is more of a negative obligation not to tell lies rather than a positive obligation to tell the truth and act
in good faith. However recent cases such as Yam Seng PTE Ltd v International Trade Corporation
Limited have shown that the courts attitudes towards good faith have been developing and changing.
Now it may be possible to imply a term of good faith in a contract. Therefore, where traditionally
there has been a negative obligation not to tell lies, English contract law may be slowly moving
towards an obligation of good faith.
There is no obligation within the English contract law to act in good faith in keeping with the
principles of freedom of contract and the binding force of contract . Richard Stone and James
Devenney identified two of the reasons why this is so, freedom of contract as one of the reasons
because a positive obligation would have not sat easily with the archetype of a contract where two
parties of equal bargaining power where free to ask whichever questions seemed important. The
argument is that if one of the parties wants to ask something relevant to negotiations then they have
the freedom to and the party cannot lie; however the

The gods in the Aztec culture are considered demanding and only pleased through bloody human
sacrifices that came from the lower class or prisoners (Easton, 398). Some of the gods the Aztecs that
were made offerings to were in charge of the sun, warfare, crops, rain fire, and the dead. Each
direction around the capital had religious significance with its own rituals and colors. The temples
these offerings were made at were decorated with colorful sculptures of feathered serpents such as
Quetzalcoatl (Easton, 399). To be sacrificed was an honor because those who were sacrificed were
guaranteed a place in heaven. The priests would go lengths of flying skin and wearing the victims skin
as part of a ceremony or using obsidian tools to open the chest and take out the victim s heart (Easton,
400). In some cases, there were mass sacrifices such as the people of Huastecs who tried revolting
against the Aztec and therefore all sacrificed (Smith, 6). The religious sacrifices were meant to be a
type of payment or appeasement in order for the gods to bestow gifts to the people of Tenochtitlan.
However, the sacrifices were also used as a tool of fear to control the lower class of Aztecs or instill
fear in its enemies (Smith, 6). The Aztecs used all types of tactics to make their enemies fear them and

Paul reminds the church that they should live in unity according to God s calling (4:1 3)
As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be
completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep
the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
Paul begins his statement in 4:1 to the Ephesians by stating his imprisonment (As a prisoner for the
Lord) before saying anything else. It seems as though Paul is saying this to show that he is literally
living and dying for the sake of Jesus Christ and that he knows what they as believers are going
through. He may be saying this as a form of encouragement to the church in Ephesus because he is
physically in prison, but he is still doing everything he can to glorify God and make Jesus Christ
known. Paul could have been using a double meaning or figure of speech when he wrote this because
he was both a prisoner of Christ and a prisoner for Christ, both bound to him by the chains of love and
in custody out of loyalty to his gospel (Stott 146). Then Paul exhorts the believers in Ephesus to live
according to what God has commanded them at salvation. We should notice that he uses past tense
when he writes the calling you have received. This is to emphasize that he is not referring to each

Selective Breeding and Mammal Cloning

Selective breeding is the result of human manipulation of genetic transfer. It uses the same principle as
natural selection. However, natural selection is the process of selection by the environment
whereas;selective breeding is a form artificial selection by humans. Hence, selective breeding can be
defined as the artificial process by which desirable or specific traits are selected to produce ideal breed
of animals.
This process of artificial selection is nothing recent as agriculture began thousands of years ago.
Selective breeding however did commence with selection of plants containingdesired traits with the
purpose of producing bigger and easier to harvest grains with a greater yield.
As the decades progressed, technology became widespread and selective breeding started producing
animals for meat, milk, clothes, eggs and several other human desires. Due to selective breeding, a
smaller number of animals were required yet they produced a large amounts and better quality
products. This was possible as the animals were being genetically manipulatedso that they contained
desired traits.

of cuisines. There are two different types of

(Barsam, 469). By having every employee, especially actors, writers, and directors under contract the

as a way to control the cost of making movies. When an actor signed with a studio they became like
property. Their hair, teeth, and even names could be changed to fit the studios idea or concept (Lewis,
