Stereotypes And Stereotypes Of Our Modern Society
Andrea Serrano
Whitley
English 1101
22 October 2015
Stereotypes in Our Modern Society Stereotypes are a big problem in society and will continue to be in
the future as well. Some people label others with certain stereotypes only because they think they
should act, talk, or dress a certain type of way. It is wrong that people think someone should act this or
that way based off their gender, nationality, or personality. The people that have those beliefs are too
narrow minded and ignorant to see other people s points of views and to think of other s feelings.
People should stop labeling others and instead grow and develop into a community that aims for
equality and respect for one another. People tend to prejudice someone and create an idea based off
what they see. For example, if a person is shy in public, others will automatically assume that person
is a loner and has no friends. The media is to blame for this because it constantly targets people in a
way that s racist and stereotypical. It targets different people by saying things based off their
nationality and color. Most people think it is fine to do so because it s funny as seen on TV, but that s
the media s strategy. The media manipulates people by making stereotypical jokes and puns seem
funny. Making things seem funny that are actually not funny at all leads people to think it s perfectly
normal. It s not necessarily the viewers fault, but the media s fault. People are constantly blinded from
the reality of what

Rio Grande Valley Essay
Obama s second term was ending and there was a new president was chosen on January 20,2017 and
this was one of the worst days for the Latinos in RGV aka Rio Grande Valley. This day was when
President Donald J. Trump got in office at the white house every Mexican in the Valley was so
worried about this day because while he was doing his run for president, he said things that offended a
lot of Mexicans and those things he said was Mexicans are Rapists, Criminals and Killers also Trump
said: All Mexicans that are immigrants will go back to Mexico and I will build a wall so immigrants
will not cross over . While the things he said in the speeches during his run for presidency caused a
major outbreak on all Mexicans wanting him not to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now even with all these social medias talking about Trump, the news has reported it and talked about
what will the president do when one third of the country population.
Another thing that Trump has done to affect us that live in the valley or in Texas, Donald Trump said
that he would renegotiate or break the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). We will
either renegotiate it or we will break it, Trump said during an interview on 60 Minutes, following a
question about how to keep American jobs from moving to Mexico. Because, you know, every
agreement has an end. NAFTA, which has been in effect since the mid 1990s, allows free trade
between the United States, Canada and Mexico. We need fair trade. Not free trade, he said. It s got to
be fair. Trump is not the only GOP candidate to suggest that the U.S. can and should break its
international agreements in some circumstances. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, former Arkansas Gov. Mike
Huckabee and former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina all have said they would renege on the Iran
nuclear deal the Obama Administration struck earlier this year. This has a major effect on us because if
the NAFTA brakes the agreement that has been since the 1990 s it would stop everyone that comes to
here for a better job and just stay in Mexico with that the population would decrease and much more
will happen.
NAFTA impacted U.S. workers in four focal ways. In the first place, it caused the loss of about

The Life of Elizabeth Barrett Browning Essay
Elizabeth Barrett Moulton Barrett was born March 6, 1806 in Durham, England to Edward Barrett
Moulton Barrett and Mary Graham Clarke. She was the eldest of twelve. Her father made the family
fortune from a sugar plantation. In 1809, the Barretts moved to an estate called Hope End in England.
Elizabeth Barrett s childhood was spent happily at the family s home in England. She had no formal
education, learning solely from her brother s tutor and from her continuous reading. She managed over
the years to learn Greek, Latin, Hebrew, French, Italian, German, and Spanish. She learned rapidly
and began writing at an early age.
At the age of twelve, Barrett composed her early epic, The Battle of Marathon, which her father had

It was favorably reviewed and sold well. This marked the start of her successful literary career. But
these years were also full of illness and sadness for her. A burst blood vessel in her lungs resulted in
bed rest. Even though constrained by illness, she corresponded with prominent members of the literary
world, including Wordsworth, Carlyle, and Edgar Allan Poe (The Victorian Web).
Eventually Barrett moved to Torquay, on the seaside, for her health. Her brother Edward stayed with
her as her companion. In 1838 the news of the death of Barrett s favorite uncle reached her. This uncle
left enough money to her to make her financially secure. Two years later Barrett s brother Edward
drowned in Babbacombe Bay off Torquay. This left the mourning Elizabeth Barrett ill for months. She
blamed herself for the death of her brother because she brought him with her to Torquay. The literary
result of this tragedy was the poem De Profundis, which sharply delineates Elizabeth Barrett s sense of
grief and devastation following her brother s death (Radley 20).
In 1841 Elizabeth Barrett returned to the family home in London as an invalid. She stayed confined in
her room and worked on book reviews and articles. The Cry of the Children was published one year
later. This was a popular work that helped bring about the regulation of child labor. In 1844 she
published a two volume edition of her poems; in October of that same year, an American edition with

The Representations of Femininity in Pride and Prejudice
Jane Austen, one of the most well known 19th century novelists recognized today continues to
captivate people with stories of love and romance through the transformation of her novels into film
and television. All of her novels are about women dealing with romance, courtship, and marriage
during a repressing period. Most of her characters and stories revolve around the lives of the upper
class. It centers on the values, rituals, and manners of high society in England during the Regency Era.
Her most popular novel, Pride and Prejudice published in 1813 maintains the interest of its audiences
as it did almost two centuries earlier as evidenced by its frequent incarnations. In 1995, the British
Broadcasting Corporation produced a six ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This adaptation offers an accurate representation of the story and characters which overall offers a
beautiful visual rich in semiotics for exploration. In Roberta Grandi s article, The Passion Translated:
Literary and Cinematic Rhetoric in Pride and Prejudice, she observes that in an age when naked
bodies are overexposed and sex is common topic of discussion, costume films rediscover a taste for
visual repression. Through the concealment of the bodies and translation of their sensuality into
objects, both voyeuristic and fetishist sensations are enhanced (50) which I believe is the reason
behind the lasting appeal of period dramas. This will keep audiences, especially the younger viewers
today, engaged in the characters conversations, actions and tiny gestures in an attempt to decipher
what the characters truly feel and think as in Grandi s words, if passion is nowhere expressed it means
that passion is concealed everywhere (50). Even if the times had changed and values have become
more progressive compared to that of Jane Austen time, viewers nevertheless enjoy the passion in her

Introduction. Following The First Canadian Armed Forces
Introduction
Following the first Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) deployments in Afghanistan between 2002 and
2004, the Ombudsman made the recommendation to the Departement of National Defence leadership
to provide a reintegration and decompression program in support of the military personnel deploying
on operations. In response to this recommendation, the Canadian Forces Health Services Group
implemented the Third Location Decompression (TLD) Program (CAF Surgeon General, 2014). All
CAF members returning from deployment to Afghanistan must participate in the TLD program in
Cyprus. The 5 day program consists of individual free time, structured recreational activities and
mental health training program (CAF Surgeon General, 2014).

The second mental health program is a canadian adaptation of the Battlemind, refered to as the New
program in the article. In general, the training delivery changed from mainly delivered by clinicians,
to a joint effort between clinician and non clinician intructors. The training design was changed to
uphold the group cohesion of the deployed team, and the training is more adaptable to different types
of military operations (Zamorski, Guest, Bailey, Garber, 2012).
Type of evaluation
In determining the type of evaluation used in this research, I supposed that the evaluation cannot be
formative, because there is no recommendation based on the findings (Posovac, 2011). Then, I
hesitated between the summative evaluation and the monitoring one. Firstly, the evaluation could be
summative because of the comparison between the old and the new programs, there is no indication in
the article stating that the evaluation s findings will be used to decide amongst the two programs, and
the findings could be used for accountability purposes (Posovac, 2011). Secondly, because the new
program is a refined program stemming from the quality improvement of the old one, this could be a
monitoring evaluation, since the authors only gathered the feedback to confirm that the program was
still effective (Posovac, 2011).
Purpose and focus of the evaluation
Since it is not stated in the article, I deduct that the Department of

Throughout all of the tasks that I took part in, I believe that I performed well in some of them but then
in others I could have performed much better. Throughout all of the tasks I believe that I participated
as much as possible in order to get the tasks completed, participation was important for the team
because of the limited numbers within the team, if I didn t participate as much as possible then the
team may have struggled to complete all of the tasks. I always try to participate as much as possible

Another strength of the team was our ability to come up with a range of different ideas and then
working as a team to improve on the ideas, this strength was important to use because we needed to
come up with a range of ideas for all of the tasks that we were involved in. if we were unable to come
up with a lot of ideas for each task then we may have struggled to complete some of the tasks that we
had been set, most of the tasks involved us to work as a team to discuss the ideas that each of us had,
we made sure that everyone was listening and participating during each part of the task in which we
had to discuss the ideas. The final strength of the team was the overall participation of the team,
within all of the tasks every team members made sure that they were participating as much as possible
with the role in which they had been set, if all the team members were not participating as much as
possible then it could result us in failing some of the tasks that we had been set because in each task
we didn t have a big time limit in which we had to come up with ideas, put these ideas into practice
and then come up with any alternative ideas that may be needed in order for us to complete the task.
As well as the strengths of the team we had our weaknesses as well, the first weakness of the group
was we sometimes struggled to agree on the ideas that had been put forward, this was because other

Spirit bears or Kermode bears and are found off the coast of the British Columbia in a rain forest. The
kermode bear is not a Polar bear or a albino. The Kermode bear is a rare white black bear. the bear was
named after Francis kermode.
Dr Kermit and Craig Newton studied the genetics of the white black bears. The white fur of the
Kermode bear is the result of a double recessive of the gene unique to this species.
Outside the british Columbia only about one in a million black bears are white. One of these bears,a
subadult male lived near Orr, minnesota in 1996.Hair samples showed him to be genetically different
from white Kermode bears. In 2004 a mother black bear with a white cub was discovered 300 miles

When it comes to working with other professional cultural groups, as a manager of any profession you
should never limit yourself to communicating with other professionals by any means. Another thing
that stood out to me the most about our interview was that he brought up the Six Sigma Certification.
There are several professional organizations that are associated with the Six Sigma Certification
process. For those of you who may not know what Six Sigma is, it s a professional certification that
has become extremely crucial to all businesses that are looking to find employees who have proven
that they are responsible enough to contribute to employee prioritization, this includes decreases in
failures, increases in satisfaction, and profitability. Among this certification there are many others that
are extremely beneficial but also not as expensive as completing master programs. Appendix 1. What
makes a person qualify for a management position? A lot of things will make a person qualify for a
management position, but one that stands out to me would be dedication. You have to be dedicated to
yourself, your profession, and your organization s goals. 2. What is one thing that you regret about

Wilson Songs Analysis
Have you ever got a song stuck in your head from hearing your friend singing it? Or made up the
lyrics to a song you don t know the words to? Well robins do that all the time too says a study from
The Wilson Journal of Ornithology. The study looked how similar or unique robin s songs were to
their peers and raised the very interesting question do robins make up there own songs or is it copied
from other robins in their community? Robins sing for a number of reasons. The two main reasons are
to attract mates and keep intruders out of their territory. Robin s songs are comprised of what are
called elements. Elements are comprised of one or more musical notes. The robin has two types of
elements that it uses in its song. The most common and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also found that only 5 of the robins had elements in common with robins not neighboring them.
Which proves that robins do in fact imitate robins that are near by. While males from the same site
shared more elements then other sites Steven L. Johnson also found though that the majority of the
elements found in the robins song ended up being unique to them. So unique in fact he was able to
identify them just by song after a while of recording them. Where as for the hatchlings there was
evidence of the robins both inventing and imitating because the percentage of shared elements varied
greatly. However the robins did produce their own unique elements that were different from any of the
tapes provided. Proving that robins in fact do produce their own unique elements. He also found that
the nestlings had more elements in common with each other then the tapes suggesting that robins learn
quite a bit from their peers. Overall the results of the two different experiments suggested that social
interaction with other robins encourages robins to imitate their neighbors suggesting that the benefits
of sharing elements are for a large part social. It also suggests that it is unlikely that a large amount of
sharing is due to songs learned or imitated from a robin s parents or family members due to the fact
that two twins were placed near each other and copied very little of each others song s compared to
other hatchlings. A Possible interpretation is that there is a just a predisposition for robins to learn
from their parents or relatives. So to answerer the question imitation or invention? The answer is both.
Robins both imitate their neighbors and create their own music, similarly to us humans. Further
research is required to explain why robins both create and copy songs as well as what role different
song types

buildings are slowly being rebuilt today. Through the years after this disaster, many countries from
around the world have come to its aid in rebuilding.
Most of Haiti s farmers work subsistence plots of land that produce small amounts of cash crops. Soil
erosion and overburdened land are major agricultural complications, at the same time hurricanes and
drought have also taken their toll.
Coffee, sugarcane, sisal, and fruit are the dominant commercial crops, while beans, rice, corn, and
sorghum are the main food crops. Coffee is the dominant export. Sugarcane, cotton, sisal, coconuts,

How does Clint Eastwood, director of the film, Invictus,...
How does Clint Eastwood, director of the film, Invictus, use the South African rugby team (the
Springboks) as a vehicle to bring a troubled nation together?
Clint Eastwood shows the change in the nation of South Africa in Invictus, using the Springboks as a
vehicle. He starts the film with large amounts of separation, followed by the steady change in the
middle of the movie, and finishing with the nation combined.
In the beginning of the film, Clint Eastwood shows how separated black and white people are and how
they do not get along, due to the change of the government and the Springboks. Because of the change
in government, Nelson Mandela s staff started to pack their things up as if they were leaving their

At first, the police officers rudely send him away and continue to listen to the game. The African child
still tries to get closer and closer, while pretending to collect soft drink cans. But, towards the end of
the scene, the Springboks score and win the game, and the police become more accepting and
forgiving. They begin to celebrate with the child and raise him up on their shoulders as if he were a
mascot. Ironically, in the beginning of the film, the same child is seen refusing to wear a Springbok
jersey. By using the same child in the beginning of the movie and towards the end, this shows the
audience how the South Africans have changed their view on the Springboks. This acceptance of the
Springboks showed the beginnings of a nation coming together. During the World Cup, the final game
in the film, the scene occasionally cuts to shots of empty streets and empty houses. This technique
shows that everyone is watching the game and that everyone is excited to see the outcome. Another
thing Clint Eastwood did to show the black and white people combined is at the end of the movie. He
used the world cup to symbolise the nation had been brought together. He did this by making Francois
and Chester to both hold the World Cup up above their heads, showing the black and white hand
together.
By the end of the film Invictus, during the final scene, one can see that the crowd watching the rugby
game has changed quite considerably, compared to the game in the start

Women s Struggles
The Struggle for Women s Rights
Since the beginning of time, women have been seen as weaker, less intellectual, needy human beings.
Many religions believed that it was women s job to have kids, stay home with them and manage the
home, while; men went to work and brought home food for the family. Since the beginning of the first
wave of feminism in the 19th and early 20th century, women have been fighting for their rights to be
seen as equals to men. Women have fought to be women as a whole...instead of a part of a man. Even
though times have changed and women rights have evolved, women are still seen as vessels and as a
result, are still treated unfairly in society.

Feminism Through The Time Of The Butterflies
Feminism through In the Time of the Butterflies
In the past, women had less power than men for thousands of years. In other words, men played an
essential gender role and controlled people all around the world. Obviously, most leaders were males,
and there were more male bosses than female`s in companies. This unequal social injustice has existed
all around the world, especially in the Dominican Republic. In this country, men always thought the
only responsibility of women was staying at home and taking care of the whole family. In addition,
men did not care what women really wanted, and the only way was to force women to do what men
asked. In the movie In the Time of the Butterflies, which happened in the Dominican Republic, people
struggle under the brutal dictatorship of Trujillo between the 1930`s and 1960`s. In this movie, men
play the important gender role that women have no right to apply for university, and they have to be
obedient to men. However, women work hard to defeat their oppressed unequal fate and seek
feminism, especially for the three Mirabal sisters. The Mirabal sisters are normal women who live in a
farm with their parents. Unfortunately, their father is killed by Trujillo, so they become
revolutionaries. They lead people to dare to start the revolution against feminist resistance. Although
the Mirabal sisters understand they will sacrifice their lives, they never abandon due to their
respectable ambition to gain equal rights as men.

Rap Music Influence
In experiments on over 500 college students, who often work cheaper than guinea pigs and have less
complicated musical tastes, subjects were found to experience a increase in aggressive thoughts after
listening to songs with violent lyrics, (Morrison, 1). Based on this information people can conclude
that since rap lyrics are violent often, it is the main cause for aggressive thoughts caused from hip hop.
Rap music causes lots of violence every year and it is only used for entertainment purposes. Rap has
no value for learning anything; it is just a hostile form of music most times. Rap music can influence
teens because it can encourage violent behavior, and it can make kids start using drugs, also it can
influence illegal activities. Hip hop and rap lyrics have no educational worth, (McWhorter, 1). Rap is
going downhill and albums are starting to sell less. This is because of new rappers and people seeing
the truth about rap. As the new music groups and better music start coming in, it just kicks rap out of
the picture. Hip hop will soon become nothing unless it can be more passive and non aggressive in its

E. E Cummings Essay
Edward Estlin Cummings was an unbelievable great American poet one of the most well versed

language leaving behind the traditions that most poets followed. E. E. Cummings was born on October

dementia worldwide in 2010 and will increase to 66 million by 2030 (p. 7). There is no treatment and
prevention currently available and many elderly people are diagnosed with the dementia. Dementia
gradually destroys the cells in the brain responsible for memory, thinking, judgment, and behavior.
The day to day activities and simple tasks can be confusing and frustrating for the dementia patient,
reducing their quality of life (QoL). Maintaining and improving the QoL plays a vital role in
improving the survival rate. I will be working with the dementia clients so, it is important to
understand how to measure and improve the QoL in order to provide better services according to the
patient s needs. In this paper, I will address the standard instrument used in measuring the QoL, and
the effectiveness of music therapy in enhancing and improving the QoL. According to Barofsky
(2011), Rabins, Black (2007), QoL is a broad concept without a unique definition and does not depend
on a specific set of individual characteristics (as cited in Graske, Fischer, Kuhlmey, Wolf Ostermann,
2012, p. 1). Whitehouse colleagues (1997), stated that cognitive function; activities of daily living,
social interactions and psychological well being are the important components that maintain QoL (as
cited in Crespo, Bernaldo de Quiros, Gomez, Hornillos, 2012) Assessing and analyzing QoL is

The Influence Of Neorealism On The World War II
Neorealism came to fruition as a result of classical realism. While classical realism was based on the
inclinations of human nature, neorealism proposed the structural constraints determined the behavior
of states in the international realm. After World War II, the call for a politically and economically
integrated Europe was of utmost importance among European leaders because of the brutal human and
economic cost of the war. The idea of integration came in order to maintain the balance of power in
the region, specifically regarding the rise of another expansive Germany type state and to guard
against the rise of the nuclear armed Soviet Union. The idea of integration started with the European

This rationality means they will pursue interests in terms of power according to offensive neorealism,
or in terms of security according to defensive neorealism (Collard Wexler, 2006). These two strands
have been heavily debated within neorealist theory, particularly by Mearsheimer in favor of offensive
neorealism and Waltz in favor of defensive neorealism. John Mearsheimer believes that the goal of
states is to maximize power while Waltz believes the goal of states is to maintain their positions in the
system (Snyder, 2001). There is no punishment for irrational or aggressive behavior because of the
anarchic nature of the system so states must rely on themselves for survival, through the use of power.
Due to anarchy, states will balance against their peers by imitation, by boosting their national assets
(internal balancing), forming alliances with other states (external balancing) or by adopting the
successful power generating practices of the prospective hegemon (emulation) (Wohlforth et.al, 2007)
and these 3 processes will prevent hegemony. Neorealism relates to European integration most
specifically in terms of the aforementioned balance of power. Nations tend to balance among
dominant powers rather than ally with them because they fear that the powerful ally of today could
become the menacing rival of tomorrow (Collard Wexler, 2006). This balance, however, should not be
confused with cooperation because

Tepeyac By Sandra Cisneros
In Sandra Cisneros Tepeyac she uses long descriptive sentences with complex words to reflect on her
past, while in Langston Hughes Marion Anderson he uses short sentences and simple, down to earth
language to inform the reader about Marion Anderson s singing career. In Tepeyac , Sandra Cisneros
uses high or formal diction to elevate the images from her memories. She also uses concrete,
descriptive language such as arabesque and lacework to contribute to the imagery of her past.
Describing her memory she states, Green iron gates that arabesque and scroll like the initials of my

Her long sentences are made easy to read by her use of natural order. She is able to express her

The Importance of the USA Patriot Act Essay
The Importance of the USA Patriot Act
The United States government changed the face of computer and internet use when it signed the USA
Patriot Act on October 26, 2001. This act was created in the wake of the terrorist attacks in New York
City on September 11 that same year. Many people believe that this act is a good thing and will help in
defense against any future attacks. What most people do not know, however, is the effect of this act on
the more general public. This includes individual people, public libraries, colleges and universities,
and even trucking or hauling companies.

The USAPA provides agencies the ability to ask for student records in concurrence with a terrorism

What Is The Moral Of The Little Mermaid
A Devious Motion Picture The Little Mermaid, directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, appears

The Deconstruction Of Mentor Texts Essay
Each of the three cycles included one initial draft writing session, one elaborating ideas session and
one changing vocabulary session. Each of the inquiry cycles had a different authentic context and
topic focus and each session involved links to reading programme (Appendix ?). Although text
structure and topic knowledge was not an explicit focus of the intervention, it is recognised as an
essential foundation of expert writing. Therefore the deconstruction of mentor texts, analysis of text
structure and developing topic knowledge was built into the reading programme and the initial draft
writing sessions. The elaborating ideas session was focused on writing for an audience and ensuring
their writing provide their audience with appropriate, specific and depth of information. The changing
vocabulary sessions focused on identifying common words and replacing or adding synonyms that
were rarely used in their writing. Following each inquiry cycles one or two substantial changes were

Examples Of Narcissism In The Black Cat
From the Greek myth of Narcissus, to Freud s exploration of the concept, and to its classification in
the DSM; Narcissism has been present in both real life and many works of literature for quite some
time. The Black Cat, a short story by Edgar Allan Poe, arguably portrays a wicked narcissistic man.
The story is told by an unidentified narrator, and it also revolves around him. He begins by claiming
sanity, but as the story progresses he contradicts himself, as if he is purposely attempting to appear
insane. Is it possible that a person can be so narcissistic to the extent of developing a defense
mechanism or strategy such as appearing insane, in order to exempt himself from his unacceptable
behavior? Poe s The Black Cat just might support that possibility.
It is a well known fact that narcissists are great story tellers, and more often than not they are the
center of their tale. According to Sigmund Freud, we are all born with a natural healthy form of
narcissism, the notion of self love and self care, and a balance between them and the notion of object
love. However, when that balance is broken, it can greatly affect the individual and those around him.

Robert Nozick s Anarchy, State, And Utopia
In Anarchy, State, and Utopia Robert Nozick uses a famous example of Wilt Chamberlain getting rich
by playing basketball to show how patterned distribution is destroyed by individual transfers of goods
and money. He argues that we should have a free economy in which we each have control over our
holdings without interference from a government or anyone else. To argue this he shows that the
alternative to this free economy, patterning our distribution of resources, is unjust because it causes
interference in people s lives.
In this paper I will pose three arguments that this example is faulty because it is oversimplified. I will
argue that it overlooks important moral concerns, specifically reward. I will argue that it makes a
faulty assumption ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

be justly earned, and is justly given since the transfer is voluntary. Because of his popularity
Chamberlain earns more than the other basketball players and more than the average citizen. Nothing
is evenly distributed anymore because he has more of it than others do. The example shows how free
exchange inevitably upsets patterns of distribution. If that free exchange follows the rules of just
transfer then it is just to upset the pattern and presumably unjust to reinstitute

Essay The Death of Socrates
The Death of Socrates Viewing the painting The Death of Socrates by Jacques Louis David, one can
perceive many different subject matters, both literally and metaphorically. The obvious is seen within
the setting of the painting. The clear illustration of where the event is happening provides the onlooker
with a glimpse into a different time and era. Conversely, the artist has taken the liberty to hide deep
meaning inside the work of art through less apparent means. Symbolism through art work has endured
from early works to contemporized ones, here is no different. Taking the two aforementioned into
consideration gives us a glimpse into both the symbolic and factual significance of the occasion. What

Given the body of a Greek god, Socrates seems far from frail and is bursting with strength and power.
Furthermore, to give Socrates an air of wisdom, he was given a beard. The beard which is
representative of knowledge and intelligence flows freely upon the great teacher as his time of
execution approaches. While appearing to have the divinity of a god, Socrates is still painted with
physical emotion. The duality of being godly and human at the same time may have been a recurring
theme at the time this was painted. Not only looking at the mere representation of the figure who is
Socrates, but by examining how he is situated among others in the painting also uncovers meaning in
of itself. Studying the way that Socrates body is situated you can see that the artist is trying to make a
statement of nobility in self sacrifice. The finger of Socrates is pointed upward and is in the highest
position in the chamber. Much like a mountain commands the landscape, so does Socrates finger in a
room full of disarray and uncertainty. This can also tells us that although ready to die and in his final
hour, his teachings and beliefs will continue to live on. Although Socrates is on his deathbed he still
continues to teach and philosophize. Something else that should be noted is the posture of Socrates.
His back is completely erect with no support. Everyone else in the picture

The Importance Of Power Diasipation In Design Circuits
In the past, density and frequency were low enough and never acted like a constraint on the chip. But
as the scale of integration improved, the number of transistors being packed onto a chip has increased.
This lead to the increase of the operating frequency and processing capacity of the chip and thus
resulting in power dissipation. As a result, power efficiency is considered as a design goal along with
performance. Despite this acceptance, low power design methodologies are adopted at a slow pace
because of the effort that must be into at the abstraction level and at each phase of the design. Initially,
circuits were designed targeting the performance of the device. The cost associated with installing

This is because while zoos try to raise awareness on conservation programs by allowing visitors to
have a close interaction with animals, this however sometimes comes at the expense of the animals

behaviour and stress physiology even when animals are separated by barriers (Fernandez et al., 2009).
A recent study has indicated that when exposed to visitors, the level of vigilance increased in both
Kangaroo Island kangaroos and Red kangaroos. Furthermore, Kangaroo Island kangaroos would
increase time spent in locomotion and decrease time spent on resting (Sherwen, 2015). In addition,
previous studies have shown that social factors and conditions of confinement have proven to cause

reproductive success, thus zoo populations are declining. A more detailed understanding of tree

David Bosworth Faith And Resilience Summary
In the article Faith and Resilience: King David s Reaction to the Death of Bathsheba s Firstborn,
David Bosworth writes to prove that David s behavior in 2 Samuel 12:13 25 is because he is a resilient
individual. I believe that Bosworth makes a well supported argument to explain how David s lack of
mourning is because his faith makes him resilient in times of adversity (692). Bosworth breaks his
argument down into sections discussing how David s actions tie in with supplication, the concept of
resilience, and various pathways to resilience. Bosworth s goal is to clarify how the strange behavior
of David in this episode presents him as a man whose faith makes him resilient in times of adversity.
Bosworth first clarifies that David s behavior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author points out that regardless of any of the other possible explanations, the text only points at
David s piety as the reason for his resilience. Although the servants are still confused by his actions
they may not understand because David characterizes himself as someone who finds resilience
through religion. Bosworth continues his argument by stating that the ability to find meaning in a loss
is a core part of grieving and generally surviving adversity (Bosworth, 703). David knows that he
deserves to die and his sin is the reason for his infant son s illness. He begs God to change his mind,
but when he does not, David accepts this and moves on. Bosworth then adds personal guilt can bring a
sense of control to an event that otherwise seems random, inexplicable, and beyond control (704). The
death of David s infant son makes sense to him because he accepts that God has done this to punish
him for his wrongdoing. The author also references some biblical texts to support the reasoning for
David s belief that his son died for a moral reason. Closing his argument, Bosworth compares David s
character in this particular passage to his character throughout the rest of the text. He finds that David
continually acts with the same self reliance and reliance on God throughout all of his trials

The Macro Environment
The macro environment
Introduction
Marketing s role is to match the capabilities and resources within the organisation with market
opportunities external to the organisation. Understanding customer needs is central to achieving this
aim, but marketers must also be aware of factors that can cause customer needs to evolve. A change in
customer needs will impact upon the organisation s ability to serve its customers. This means that
marketers have to be knowledgeable about what is happening in the external environment, or macro
environment.
Beyond the organisations that immediately influence a company s operations lies the macro
environment. This consists of the larger social and international forces that affect the society within

Nations have different levels of income:
Subsistence economies consume what they produce, so provide limited market opportunities.
Industrial economies offer rich markets with varied goods.
The operation of the economic environment is affected by government economic policy. In struggling
economies, consumer purchasing power is reduced. Consumers at different income levels spend their
money on different things. Economic variables affect these spending patterns.
Marketing
The economic problems faced by some countries have meant that some international marketers cannot
be paid in hard currency. To make sales, therefore, they have had to barter their products. An example
of this was the barter of Pepsi Cola for Russian vodka by the Pepsi company and the former Soviet
government.
Nature
This is important to marketers insofar as it is the source of many raw materials and fluctuation in
supply can affect the prices paid for purchases. Furthermore, the increasing cost of some raw materials
has meant that recycling of some materials, such as aluminium, has become economic.
There is increasing pressure from public opinion as to where raw materials are sourced from, and their
effect on the natural environment. Paper manufacturers have had to pay attention to sourcing pulp
from renewable forests, where trees are replanted to make up for those which have been felled. There
is also pressure on them not to use chemicals and bleaches in their

  • 2. Stereotypes And Stereotypes Of Our Modern Society Andrea Serrano Whitley English 1101 22 October 2015 Stereotypes in Our Modern Society Stereotypes are a big problem in society and will continue to be in the future as well. Some people label others with certain stereotypes only because they think they should act, talk, or dress a certain type of way. It is wrong that people think someone should act this or that way based off their gender, nationality, or personality. The people that have those beliefs are too narrow minded and ignorant to see other people s points of views and to think of other s feelings. People should stop labeling others and instead grow and develop into a community that aims for equality and respect for one another. People tend to prejudice someone and create an idea based off what they see. For example, if a person is shy in public, others will automatically assume that person is a loner and has no friends. The media is to blame for this because it constantly targets people in a way that s racist and stereotypical. It targets different people by saying things based off their nationality and color. Most people think it is fine to do so because it s funny as seen on TV, but that s the media s strategy. The media manipulates people by making stereotypical jokes and puns seem funny. Making things seem funny that are actually not funny at all leads people to think it s perfectly normal. It s not necessarily the viewers fault, but the media s fault. People are constantly blinded from the reality of what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Rio Grande Valley Essay Obama s second term was ending and there was a new president was chosen on January 20,2017 and this was one of the worst days for the Latinos in RGV aka Rio Grande Valley. This day was when President Donald J. Trump got in office at the white house every Mexican in the Valley was so worried about this day because while he was doing his run for president, he said things that offended a lot of Mexicans and those things he said was Mexicans are Rapists, Criminals and Killers also Trump said: All Mexicans that are immigrants will go back to Mexico and I will build a wall so immigrants will not cross over . While the things he said in the speeches during his run for presidency caused a major outbreak on all Mexicans wanting him not to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now even with all these social medias talking about Trump, the news has reported it and talked about what will the president do when one third of the country population. Another thing that Trump has done to affect us that live in the valley or in Texas, Donald Trump said that he would renegotiate or break the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). We will either renegotiate it or we will break it, Trump said during an interview on 60 Minutes, following a question about how to keep American jobs from moving to Mexico. Because, you know, every agreement has an end. NAFTA, which has been in effect since the mid 1990s, allows free trade between the United States, Canada and Mexico. We need fair trade. Not free trade, he said. It s got to be fair. Trump is not the only GOP candidate to suggest that the U.S. can and should break its international agreements in some circumstances. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina all have said they would renege on the Iran nuclear deal the Obama Administration struck earlier this year. This has a major effect on us because if the NAFTA brakes the agreement that has been since the 1990 s it would stop everyone that comes to here for a better job and just stay in Mexico with that the population would decrease and much more will happen. NAFTA impacted U.S. workers in four focal ways. In the first place, it caused the loss of about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Life of Elizabeth Barrett Browning Essay Elizabeth Barrett Moulton Barrett was born March 6, 1806 in Durham, England to Edward Barrett Moulton Barrett and Mary Graham Clarke. She was the eldest of twelve. Her father made the family fortune from a sugar plantation. In 1809, the Barretts moved to an estate called Hope End in England. Elizabeth Barrett s childhood was spent happily at the family s home in England. She had no formal education, learning solely from her brother s tutor and from her continuous reading. She managed over the years to learn Greek, Latin, Hebrew, French, Italian, German, and Spanish. She learned rapidly and began writing at an early age. At the age of twelve, Barrett composed her early epic, The Battle of Marathon, which her father had privately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was favorably reviewed and sold well. This marked the start of her successful literary career. But these years were also full of illness and sadness for her. A burst blood vessel in her lungs resulted in bed rest. Even though constrained by illness, she corresponded with prominent members of the literary world, including Wordsworth, Carlyle, and Edgar Allan Poe (The Victorian Web). Eventually Barrett moved to Torquay, on the seaside, for her health. Her brother Edward stayed with her as her companion. In 1838 the news of the death of Barrett s favorite uncle reached her. This uncle left enough money to her to make her financially secure. Two years later Barrett s brother Edward drowned in Babbacombe Bay off Torquay. This left the mourning Elizabeth Barrett ill for months. She blamed herself for the death of her brother because she brought him with her to Torquay. The literary result of this tragedy was the poem De Profundis, which sharply delineates Elizabeth Barrett s sense of grief and devastation following her brother s death (Radley 20). In 1841 Elizabeth Barrett returned to the family home in London as an invalid. She stayed confined in her room and worked on book reviews and articles. The Cry of the Children was published one year later. This was a popular work that helped bring about the regulation of child labor. In 1844 she published a two volume edition of her poems; in October of that same year, an American edition with an introduction by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Representations of Femininity in Pride and Prejudice Jane Austen, one of the most well known 19th century novelists recognized today continues to captivate people with stories of love and romance through the transformation of her novels into film and television. All of her novels are about women dealing with romance, courtship, and marriage during a repressing period. Most of her characters and stories revolve around the lives of the upper class. It centers on the values, rituals, and manners of high society in England during the Regency Era. Her most popular novel, Pride and Prejudice published in 1813 maintains the interest of its audiences as it did almost two centuries earlier as evidenced by its frequent incarnations. In 1995, the British Broadcasting Corporation produced a six ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This adaptation offers an accurate representation of the story and characters which overall offers a beautiful visual rich in semiotics for exploration. In Roberta Grandi s article, The Passion Translated: Literary and Cinematic Rhetoric in Pride and Prejudice, she observes that in an age when naked bodies are overexposed and sex is common topic of discussion, costume films rediscover a taste for visual repression. Through the concealment of the bodies and translation of their sensuality into objects, both voyeuristic and fetishist sensations are enhanced (50) which I believe is the reason behind the lasting appeal of period dramas. This will keep audiences, especially the younger viewers today, engaged in the characters conversations, actions and tiny gestures in an attempt to decipher what the characters truly feel and think as in Grandi s words, if passion is nowhere expressed it means that passion is concealed everywhere (50). Even if the times had changed and values have become more progressive compared to that of Jane Austen time, viewers nevertheless enjoy the passion in her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Following The First Canadian Armed Forces Introduction Following the first Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) deployments in Afghanistan between 2002 and 2004, the Ombudsman made the recommendation to the Departement of National Defence leadership to provide a reintegration and decompression program in support of the military personnel deploying on operations. In response to this recommendation, the Canadian Forces Health Services Group implemented the Third Location Decompression (TLD) Program (CAF Surgeon General, 2014). All CAF members returning from deployment to Afghanistan must participate in the TLD program in Cyprus. Type of evaluation In determining the type of evaluation used in this research, I supposed that the evaluation cannot be formative, because there is no recommendation based on the findings (Posovac, 2011). Then, I hesitated between the summative evaluation and the monitoring one. Firstly, the evaluation could be summative because of the comparison between the old and the new programs, there is no indication in the article stating that the evaluation s findings will be used to decide amongst the two programs, and the findings could be used for accountability purposes (Posovac, 2011). Secondly, because the new program is a refined program stemming from the quality improvement of the old one, this could be a monitoring evaluation, since the authors only gathered the feedback to confirm that the program was still effective (Posovac, 2011). Well robins do that all the time too says a study from The Wilson Journal of Ornithology. The study looked how similar or unique robin s songs were to their peers and raised the very interesting question do robins make up there own songs or is it copied from other robins in their community? Robins sing for a number of reasons. The two main reasons are to attract mates and keep intruders out of their territory. Robin s songs are comprised of what are called elements. So unique in fact he was able to identify them just by song after a while of recording them. Where as for the hatchlings there was evidence of the robins both inventing and imitating because the percentage of shared elements varied greatly. However the robins did produce their own unique elements that were different from any of the tapes provided. Proving that robins in fact do produce their own unique elements. He also found that the nestlings had more elements in common with each other then the tapes suggesting that robins learn quite a bit from their peers. Overall the results of the two different experiments suggested that social interaction with other robins encourages robins to imitate their neighbors suggesting that the benefits of sharing elements are for a large part social. It also suggests that it is unlikely that a large amount of sharing is due to songs learned or imitated from a robin s parents or family members due to the fact that two twins were placed near each other and copied very little of each others song s compared to other hatchlings. A Possible interpretation is that there is a just a predisposition for robins to learn from their parents or relatives. So to answerer the question imitation or invention? The answer is both. In the beginning of the film, Clint Eastwood shows how separated black and white people are and how they do not get along, due to the change of the government and the Springboks. They begin to celebrate with the child and raise him up on their shoulders as if he were a mascot. These two strands have been heavily debated within neorealist theory, particularly by Mearsheimer in favor of offensive neorealism and Waltz in favor of defensive neorealism. John Mearsheimer believes that the goal of states is to maximize power while Waltz believes the goal of states is to maintain their positions in the system (Snyder, 2001). There is no punishment for irrational or aggressive behavior because of the anarchic nature of the system so states must rely on themselves for survival, through the use of power. What Is The Moral Of The Little Mermaid A Devious Motion Picture The Little Mermaid, directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, appears as an innocent story about a princess mermaid who marries the prince of her dreams, receiving everything she wants with the power of her royalty father, king of the sea. That is the way children see it, but in reticent ways, this film is unsuitable for children. Expectations have been raised for our children contradicting high or low status in class struggles, different beliefs and morals in ideologies, and different languages/cultures in dialect. They are unsuccessful in demonstrating the class struggle in this film by characterizing high status as most important, rather than educating children equality, and the understanding of respect and ... There are many family films out there that portray the important fundamentals and morals for children to perceive such as values in caring for your family, or values in education, or even the equality and equity we struggle with. Parents and guardians need to take stand in focusing on the messages in the films our children are watching, and fill their minds with the positive messages in this world. Children should not be learning to develop an animosity or bias on cultures or nationalities, or high or low classes, they should be focusing on the lesson to love everyone equally, and treating every person the same, and with the respect as they deserve. This film portrays an unrealistic realization for kids and it is causing a negative outlook on their own ideologies and views in society. This film proves many apprehensions and reasoning in why it is an appropriate film for kids to be watching, and it is very important we stop filling their minds with this logic, and start filling their minds with the true importance and morals in life, encountering them with a positive outlook on the ... • 27. The Deconstruction Of Mentor Texts Essay Each of the three cycles included one initial draft writing session, one elaborating ideas session and one changing vocabulary session. Each of the inquiry cycles had a different authentic context and topic focus and each session involved links to reading programme (Appendix ?). Although text structure and topic knowledge was not an explicit focus of the intervention, it is recognised as an essential foundation of expert writing. Therefore the deconstruction of mentor texts, analysis of text structure and developing topic knowledge was built into the reading programme and the initial draft writing sessions. The elaborating ideas session was focused on writing for an audience and ensuring their writing provide their audience with appropriate, specific and depth of information. The changing vocabulary sessions focused on identifying common words and replacing or adding synonyms that were rarely used in their writing. Following each inquiry cycles one or two substantial changes were made in subsequent inquiry cycles to improve and refine the teaching and learning strategies employed, as shown in figure 3. 0.6 Research Method 0.6.1 Data Gathering Methods 0.6.1.1 Semi structured Interview Pre and post intervention semi structured interviews were conducted in a side room on the school grounds, approximately 4m x 10m, that was familiar, warm and quiet. • 28. Examples Of Narcissism In The Black Cat From the Greek myth of Narcissus, to Freud s exploration of the concept, and to its classification in the DSM; Narcissism has been present in both real life and many works of literature for quite some time. The Black Cat, a short story by Edgar Allan Poe, arguably portrays a wicked narcissistic man. The story is told by an unidentified narrator, and it also revolves around him. He begins by claiming sanity, but as the story progresses he contradicts himself, as if he is purposely attempting to appear insane. Is it possible that a person can be so narcissistic to the extent of developing a defense mechanism or strategy such as appearing insane, in order to exempt himself from his unacceptable behavior? Poe s The Black Cat just might support that possibility. It is a well known fact that narcissists are great story tellers, and more often than not they are the center of their tale. According to Sigmund Freud, we are all born with a natural healthy form of narcissism, the notion of self love and self care, and a balance between them and the notion of object love. However, when that balance is broken, it can greatly affect the individual and those around him. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Robert Nozick s Anarchy, State, And Utopia In Anarchy, State, and Utopia Robert Nozick uses a famous example of Wilt Chamberlain getting rich by playing basketball to show how patterned distribution is destroyed by individual transfers of goods and money. He argues that we should have a free economy in which we each have control over our holdings without interference from a government or anyone else. To argue this he shows that the alternative to this free economy, patterning our distribution of resources, is unjust because it causes interference in people s lives. In this paper I will pose three arguments that this example is faulty because it is oversimplified. I will argue that it overlooks important moral concerns, specifically reward. The example shows how free exchange inevitably upsets patterns of distribution. If that free exchange follows the rules of just transfer then it is just to upset the pattern and presumably unjust to reinstitute ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The obvious is seen within the setting of the painting. The clear illustration of where the event is happening provides the onlooker with a glimpse into a different time and era. Conversely, the artist has taken the liberty to hide deep meaning inside the work of art through less apparent means. Symbolism through art work has endured from early works to contemporized ones, here is no different. Furthermore, to give Socrates an air of wisdom, he was given a beard. The beard which is representative of knowledge and intelligence flows freely upon the great teacher as his time of execution approaches. While appearing to have the divinity of a god, Socrates is still painted with physical emotion. The duality of being godly and human at the same time may have been a recurring theme at the time this was painted. Not only looking at the mere representation of the figure who is Socrates, but by examining how he is situated among others in the painting also uncovers meaning in of itself. • 34. The Importance Of Power Diasipation In Design Circuits In the past, density and frequency were low enough and never acted like a constraint on the chip. But as the scale of integration improved, the number of transistors being packed onto a chip has increased. This lead to the increase of the operating frequency and processing capacity of the chip and thus resulting in power dissipation. As a result, power efficiency is considered as a design goal along with performance. Despite this acceptance, low power design methodologies are adopted at a slow pace because of the effort that must be into at the abstraction level and at each phase of the design. Initially, circuits were designed targeting the performance of the device. The cost associated with installing fans, packing and cooling of such ... For the transition from 0 VDD, the capacitor stores half of the energy drawn from the power supply and the other half is dissipated in the PMOS network. For the transition VDD 0, no charge is drawn from the supply and the energy stored in the capacitor i.e 1/2CL.VDD2 is dissipated in the NMOS network. 4.1.2 Short circuit Power The switching component of power is independent of the rise and fall time of the logic gates. This is because while zoos try to raise awareness on conservation programs by allowing visitors to have a close interaction with animals, this however sometimes comes at the expense of the animals welfare (Calyton, Fraser, Saunders, 2009).Research has suggested that visitors can affect animal behaviour and stress physiology even when animals are separated by barriers (Fernandez et al., 2009). A recent study has indicated that when exposed to visitors, the level of vigilance increased in both Kangaroo Island kangaroos and Red kangaroos. Furthermore, Kangaroo Island kangaroos would increase time spent in locomotion and decrease time spent on resting (Sherwen, 2015). In addition, previous studies have shown that social factors and conditions of confinement have proven to cause stress for tree kangaroos (Hutchins et al., 1991). As a consequence, this reduces the chances of reproductive success, thus zoo populations are declining. David Bosworth Faith And Resilience Summary In the article Faith and Resilience: King David s Reaction to the Death of Bathsheba s Firstborn, David Bosworth writes to prove that David s behavior in 2 Samuel 12:13 25 is because he is a resilient individual. I believe that Bosworth makes a well supported argument to explain how David s lack of mourning is because his faith makes him resilient in times of adversity (692). Bosworth breaks his argument down into sections discussing how David s actions tie in with supplication, the concept of resilience, and various pathways to resilience. Bosworth s goal is to clarify how the strange behavior of David in this episode presents him as a man whose faith makes him resilient in times of adversity. The author points out that regardless of any of the other possible explanations, the text only points at David s piety as the reason for his resilience. Although the servants are still confused by his actions they may not understand because David characterizes himself as someone who finds resilience through religion. Bosworth continues his argument by stating that the ability to find meaning in a loss is a core part of grieving and generally surviving adversity (Bosworth, 703). David knows that he deserves to die and his sin is the reason for his infant son s illness. He begs God to change his mind, but when he does not, David accepts this and moves on. Bosworth then adds personal guilt can bring a sense of control to an event that otherwise seems random, inexplicable, and beyond control (704). The death of David s infant son makes sense to him because he accepts that God has done this to punish him for his wrongdoing. The author also references some biblical texts to support the reasoning for David s belief that his son died for a moral reason. Closing his argument, Bosworth compares David s character in this particular passage to his character throughout the rest of the text. He finds that David continually acts with the same self reliance and reliance on God throughout all of his trials ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The operation of the economic environment is affected by government economic policy. In struggling economies, consumer purchasing power is reduced. Consumers at different income levels spend their money on different things. Economic variables affect these spending patterns. Marketing The economic problems faced by some countries have meant that some international marketers cannot be paid in hard currency. To make sales, therefore, they have had to barter their products. An example of this was the barter of Pepsi Cola for Russian vodka by the Pepsi company and the former Soviet government. Nature This is important to marketers insofar as it is the source of many raw materials and fluctuation in supply can affect the prices paid for purchases. Furthermore, the increasing cost of some raw materials has meant that recycling of some materials, such as aluminium, has become economic. There is increasing pressure from public opinion as to where raw materials are sourced from, and their effect on the natural environment.
