Freddie Mercury s Bohemian Rhapsody
Rock and roll holds a lot of dirty secrets, fortunately for Queen s lead singer Freddie Mercury has a
more colorful mystery. Queens album A Night at The Opera released a single in 1975 called Bohemian
Rhapsody , which sent listeners in a whirlwind of up beat rhythms. Behind the elegant vibratos and
shredding guitar solos, Bohemian Rhapsody is Mercury peeling away his rock star persona by
confessing his homosexuality through religious allusions and creative metaphors.
Like any confession Mercury starts off by apologizing to his mother, metaphorically stating he is done
with playing as a straight male claiming that life style is behind him. Second stanza he bellows Mama,
just killed a man Put a gun against his head Pulled my trigger, now he s dead... (Bohemian), Jim
Hutton explains to Lesley Ann Jones, author of biography Mercury that He,s dead, the straight person
he was originally, he s destroyed the man he was trying to be, and now this is him, trying to live with
the new Freddie (Jones). Next, he says Mama my life had just begun But now ive gone and thrown it
all away... (Bohemian). Here he is saying that he is starting his new life with the ... Show more content

Singing this part his pitch becomes more aggressive, the audience can hear more throat when he says
So you think you can stop me and spit in my eye, So you think you can love me and leave me to die
(Bohemian). This is where Freddie Mercury s new persona emerges, he realizes in spite of his
homosexual lifestyle he refuses to let anyone stop what he feels is right. Then he criticizes his god for
leaving one of his followers with his reaction being Oh baby can t do this to me baby (Bohemian).
After expressing his feelings towards what his god thinks about him he says Just gotta get out just
gotta get right outta here (Bohemian) , meaning he refuses to be apart of a religion who persecutes

Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant Case Study
Introduction (Section I) Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant is a privately owned company in Richmond,
Indiana that manufactured mirrors for trucks and automobiles. This privately owned business was
successful in the beginning of its business and later the management encountered problems with its
employees. Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant faced production delay issues and unprofitability in the late
1990 s. The company implemented the Scanlon Plan in late December of 1999 in order to solve the
problem they were facing with production. This plan helps paid bonuses to workers for increased
productivity and this brought fast positive feedback for the employees and the organization. After five
years of the implementation, the enthusiasm within the company gradually ... Show more content on

Although about 81% of employees voted yes on the implementation of the Scanlon Plan at Engstrom,
communication problem and lack of understanding how this Scanlon plan works dragged the
employees to develop a non interest in the company, causing employees to lose interest in
participation of the Scanlon plan. Employees became suspicious to bonus calculation adjustments over
time and questioned fairness. This is considered as nonverbal negative feedback for a message that
may have been highly affected by noise. Employees want to feel like their boss is siding with them in
a compassionate manner. Effective communication and thorough understanding of the policies of the
organization would motivate the employees. However, even though the Scanlon plan was allowing fair
strategic planning among coworkers, it overloaded the employees with more information that they
could assimilate. According to Myers Myers (1982), overload is the vast amount of information
transmitted to an employee which surpasses an acceptable level of handling, causing confusion and
stressful employee environments. This lack of communication added to the downfall of the Scanlon

The Diet Of The Atkins Diet
A physician by the name of Robert Atkins started the Atkins Diet in 1972 after he stumbled upon a
study he read in the Journal of the American Medical Association about weight reduction through the
elimination of sugar and starch. At the time he was overweight and decided to implement this study
into his own life and ended up losing a significant amount of weight. This led him to promoting the
diet in his own series of books. The overall premise of the diet is to start with limiting the number of
carbohydrates being consumed while eating as much fat and protein you want. Then, gradually
increasing the amount of healthy carbohydrates consumed. There are 4 phases to the Atkins diet:
Induction, Ongoing Weight Loss, Pre Maintenance, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second phase of the Atkins diet is Ongoing Weight Loss where you slowly increase the amount of
carbohydrates in your diet. Essentially you add 5 grams of carbs to your diet every week until you
reach a point where you aren t gaining or losing weight (Atkins, 2002). The third phase of the diet is
Pre Maintenance in which carbohydrate intake is slightly increased again. However, this time the
increase is significant enough that the body is no longer in a state of ketosis. The key here is to find a
maximum level of carbohydrates you can consume without gaining weight (Atkins, 2002). Lifetime
Maintenance is the final phase of the Atkins diet. In this phase you are expected to carry out the habits
acquired from the previous phases. If you find yourself gaining weight again then you can revert back
to one of the previous phases. This is a permanent lifestyle you need to adapt in order to carry on with
the progress you made so far (Atkins, 2002). The main reason we are limiting carbohydrates in the
first place is to control the release of insulin by the pancreas. Carbohydrates are responsible for raising
insulin levels, which in turn promotes glucose uptake by the cells. On the other hand, insulin initiates
a pathway that inhibits fat breakdown and at the same time promotes synthesis of fatty acid,
cholesterol, and glycogen. Therefore, elevated levels of insulin are associated with cardiovascular
disease.

Happiness And Happiness Analysis
Weiner is continuing his research in Switzerland with the help of journalist friend; Susan. She invites
him to meet with a couple of Swiss people to interview their views on happiness. A wealthy banker, a
doctor, and a former Hollywood agent who s lived in Switzerland for the past ten years. Weiner asks
them on a scale of 1 10; how happy are you these days? , and the responses are as expected, multiple
eights and nines and even at seven. The Swiss interviewees were shocked as Weiner to see that they
were quite happy with their lives. During the interview with them, he further asks, what is it that
makes them happy? , the doctor replies, Envy. , explaining that the Swiss will do anything to avoid
envy with each other. Living by rules and judgment for example; no flushing the toilet after ten or no
laughing after midnight, etc. In addition to his research, he remembers that a certain naturalist,
claimed that humans have the innate love for nature through evolutionary past. Weiner then takes a
trip to Bern; a place so quaint, you might end up leaving from insanity, of it is so quiet and small. He
then travels to Zurich for a short while, to see how well people on that side of town spend their
happiness. To his shock, it is actually slow paced; every person is in no hurry to leave the beauty of
the surroundings. Switzerland is a place of rules and morals, but full of judgment and monitored
actions. Rules do not create more happiness, because it restricts your activities.

Analysis Of The Film Dances With Wolves
The 1990 film Dances With Wolves directed by Kevin Costner covers a number of topics such as the
Civil War, westward expansion, and white Indian relations. Being set in the frontier during the Civil
War, the primary issue the film raises is the white cruelty towards Native Americans during this time
period. This film can be classified as a realistic historical fiction because it depicts the humanity and
morals of the Sioux Indians while, at the same time, showing how they were treated by the white
American soldiers.
Dances With Wolves starts out by introducing the main character, John Dunbar, as a soldier in the
Civil War. John is portrayed as a strong man because he refuses his foot to be amputated, and he rides
a horse out onto the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because he was dressed like an Indian, the soldiers treated him as such, beating and calling him a
traitor. When he did not return for a few days, the Indians knew something was wrong, and they sent a
search party. In the same way that John helped the Sioux fight the Pawnee, the Sioux were now
helping John fight the soldiers. The rescue attempt was successful and they all made it back to the
village. Although Dances With Wolves is not a historically accurate and true story of the Civil War, it
is a historical fiction that is based on many true facts. The film starts off with a very unrealistic
beginning. It is set in the Civil War, on a battlefield, and John Dunbar rides a horse openly right past
the opposing side without getting shot. This seems to be the only unrealistic part of this film, however.
For example, the Sioux Indians not being total savages was true. White people did treat all Indians
poorly, and they justified their actions by saying that all Indians are savages. This film shows that in
fact, not all Indians were cruel and bloodthirsty, the Pawnee were the only mean Indians depicted. The
Sioux are portrayed as mostly peaceful humans with great moral standards. They only fight when they
feel threatened, such as by the Pawnee tribe, or the white soldiers that imprisoned Dances With
Wolves (John Dunbar). Furthermore, the problem of white men hunting buffalo was also based on true
facts. The Indians did not feel that it was the white

Okonkwo Character Analysis
Most people think that being just a normal human being is good enough, but in Okonkwo s case he
wants to gain power and create a name for himself. Okonkwo has many different emotions and
different ways to express them. Violence is a main action and emotion he uses to gain power and take
control over others. Throughout the novel he is portrayed as a strong but impulsive character and
shows hardship all the way till the very end. This protagonist relays himself as a multi emotional
character. His actions are portrayed as loving and caring, but can be turned around in seconds to be a
harmful and abusive father. His acts of violence include beating his wife, using his family, and having
his dad teach him the ways of life to gain and accomplish his full potential at others expenses. As the
novel begins traditions and customs are taught by Okonkwo s dad Unoka. He has to teach his sons to
follow the traditions and customs to become a powerful leader and gain power that is needed for the
real world. Having a fear of becoming powerless sets the tone for Okonkwo who wants to strive his
hardest even when worst comes to worst. The father of three shows violence as he gets taught new
traditions and has sudden emotional outbursts. Many traditions and customs were based upon social
classes in this tribe, but for Okonkwo they were based upon his own goals and achievements. He
decides to push himself even harder due to the fact that his father Unoka dies and is not able to

Festival Republic and Glastonbury Festival
Glastonbury from hippy weekend to international festival
Steve Henderson, Leeds Metropolitan University
Glastonbury Festival has beconne a worldwide attraction for music fans and artists alike. In 2009,
Bruce Springsteen was added to the long list of acts (from Paul McCartney to Oasis) that have
appeared at the festival. It started in 1970 when 1,500 hippy revellers gathered on a farm near
Glastonbury Tor to be plied with free milk and entertainment from a makeshift stage. Now,
Glastonbury is a major international festival that attracts over 150,000 attenders. Without any
knowledge of the lineup, the tickets for the 2010 Festival sold out in days. In those early days, the

In a worrying move, Live Nation announced that they would entice a number of major artists to
appear on the weekend normally used by Glastonbury at a new UK festival called Wireless. Based in
London, this seemed set to offer a city based alternative to Glastonbury. At much the same time, Live
Nation announced that they would launch their own online ticket agency to support the sales of their
music events. This shift in power between the major music promoters indicated not only their interest
in the ownership of key events but their desire to control income streams. Elsewhere in the world of
live entertainment, the success of Glastonbury had not gone unnoticed and the festival market showed
considerable growth. Some of the other festivals tried to capitalise on features that Glastonbury could
not offer. For example, Glastonbury was famous for its wet weather with pictures of damp revellers
and collapsed tents being commonplace. Live Nation s city based Wireless festival offered the
opportunity to sleep under a roof at home or hotel, as opposed to risking the weather outdoors.
Alternatively, Benicassim in southern Spain offered a festival with an excellent chance of sunshine
and top acts for the price of a low cost airline ticket. Other festivals noted that Glastonbury attenders
enjoyed the wider entertainment at the event. In doing this, they realised that many festival goers were
attracted by the whole social experience. So, sidestepping

Review of Index Building Methodologies
Introduction:
In recent decades, academics, policymakers and non governmental organizations have placed greater
focus on establishing more comprehensive metrics of well being and development ##. Measures of
national welfare have conventionally centered on a fairly narrow band of economic considerations,
such as gross domestic product (GDP) and employment rate. Poverty and wellbeing are now widely
understood as multifaceted concepts which cannot be adequately described through measurements of
income alone. Economists and development experts are faced with the challenge of constructing
metrics to distill the various components of wellbeing into an easily comparable index. The following
summarizes the most salient contemporary methods of index construction and provide a brief
overview of their strengths and weaknesses.
Transformation Functions: In order to build a multi dimensional index it is first necessary to convert
the various components deemed relevant into a comparable, aggregatable set of units. That is, to find a
way to bring variables like average income (which may be expect to fall in the range of tens of
thousands of dollars) and life expectancy (which would rarely exceed 90 years) into the same scale of
measurement. The mathematical tools used to accomplish this task are known as transformation
functions. We can sort the transformation functions which are relevant to index formation into five

When she was younger, they would decorate the Christmas tree together. There would be Christmas
music playing and cups of warm apple cider. They would argue laughingly over whose topper got put
on the tree. Once all the ornaments had been hung and before the tissue paper and boxes had been put
away, they would sit on the floor around the tree with all of the lights off, just the strands of white
bulbs lighting the space. Gradually, as the years passed, hanging the ornaments became less and less
of an ordeal. One year, no one remembered to make the cider. The next year, there was no cider and no

There were no cookies in the kitchen; none had survived her mother s no carb purge. Instead, she put
some sesame crackers on a plate, poured a small glass of scotch, and put these on the mantel. It wasn t

small part of her knew that, if he really did exist, he wouldn t mind. In a moment of childlike fantasy,
she set a note next to the plate. Santa, IOU a dozen homemade chocolate chip cookies. Excuse the
paltry offerings. There s more of each in the kitchen if you d like. Wake me up if you get another

The next morning, she awoke to the sounds of paper ripping. They hadn t even waited for her before

those who publish their own memoirs to escape the imputation of vanity... . (Rowlandson, 288)

Eyewitness Testimony And Evidence Testimony Essay
In the end of a court case, there is guilty and innocent. Sometimes the guilty is judged accordingly,
other times the innocent is judged guilty. Eyewitness testimony gives details about what happened,
identification of perpetrators. Eyewitness can be the central focus of the whole investigation, and is
also heavily focused on and powerful in the courtroom. Hence, eyewitness testimony is largely one of
the reasons as to why innocent individuals are thrown in prison. Although generally without a doubt,
eyewitness testimony is helpful to the court and investigation, but memory alone is not always
reliable. That previous statement was not meaning to convict all eyewitness testimony, but it is just
common sense to understand that not all eyewitness testimony is accurate or true. Eyewitness
testimony must be evaluated before allowing witnesses to be put into a courtroom because there are
many aspects as to why eyewitness testimony is not sincere or reliable. There are many factors as to
why relying eyewitness testimony is not always an advantage. During the witnessing of an event, there
may be psychological factors such as stress, trauma, or anxiety that can affect the testimony
(McLeod). According McLeod, there was a Journal of Applied Psychology in 1978 by Clifford, B.R.
and Scott, J. They found that people who saw a film filled with violent assaults recalled less than 40
items of information than those who were in a less stressful situation. So, witnessing a real crime

The World Trade Center Bombing Essay
Following the 1993 World Trade Center Bombing, Rescorla invited Hill to New York, where he hired
him as a security consultant in order to assess the building s security. Although no arrests had yet been
made, Rescorla believed that the bomb had been planted by Muslims. Hill went undercover in several
mosques throughout New Jersey, showing up for morning prayers at dawn. He took on the character
of an anti American Muslim, in order to interview the other visitors to the mosques. He concluded that
the attack was likely planned by a radical imam at a mosque in New York or New Jersey. Followers of
Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, a radical Muslim cleric based in Brooklyn, were subsequently convicted
of the bombing.
Rescorla gained much more credibility and authority after the bombing, which resulted in a change to
the culture of Morgan Stanley, which he believed should have moved out of the building because he
felt that the World Trade Center was still a very real target for terrorists. He recommended to his
superiors at Morgan Stanley that the company should leave their Manhattan office space, mentioning
that labor costs were lower in New Jersey and that the firm s employees and equipment would be safer
in a different building. However, this recommendation was not followed as the company s lease at the
World Trade Center was not up until 2006. Due to Rescorla s urging and persistence, all employees,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Technology Essay
Now a days everything is so easy and convenient because of the advances in the technology across all
sectors. People cannot imagine their life without technology. Technology is helping each and every
individual to live their life in a more luxurious way. Given below are few points that give us the
advantages and disadvantages of using technology
Advantages
Saves time and energy
With the rapid increase in technology like introduction of more machines and soft wares, people could
live a peaceful life without working harder. Examples that technology have done that have reduced
time is that we can travel anywhere in the world in couple of hours. Another example is the usage of

There was a time people used to run only bicycle which was also a technological advancement, but
now variety of bikes and cars are available which travel with lightning speed and reach a destination
locally. For long distances airplanes and superfast trains are used which reduces lots of time. Use of
computers and mobile phones are fast growing. There will be a time when there would be at least a
computer and a phone in each house. Mode of communication have reached its peak position, initially
it was only talking to one person now we have conference calls. More than that is video calling facility
which is almost like taking to someone rite in front of you.
Mistakes proven
Machines are prone not to commit any mistakes like human do. Unlike humans they perform the same
job again and again on a regular basis with the same accuracy and the same rate of doing work. Once a
program is written the same thing can be used thousands of time as long as the machine works. Like
cutting large sheet plate was not possible by human but a small piece of code make the machines do it
perfectly as we need with accurate results. In other words anything given to a machine, any work that
we input there is no chance of committing any error, the job is done perfectly without any mistakes.

I Learned About College University Of Nebraska Wesleyan...
This semester through my Archway seminar I learned many things. Not just about college but
specifically about the University of Nebraska Wesleyan and how the schooling here works. The
Archway seminar is designed to be an intro class into learning how to college and it was really an eye
opener for me. Through the assignments of our active reading journals I learned how to look deeper
into thing and really explore their entire meaning. Taking something simple that I read and writing
about experiences and what I thought about it really help this ability grow throughout the semester.
Through the discussion in this class I learned a lot more about each chapter. I looked forward to the
discussion because I enjoyed hearing everyone else s way of thinking. Something s mentioned in the
discussion I would have never thought about. Although I didn t participate in the discussion as much
as others I felt like it got better throughout the semester. I have never really been one to open up to big
crowds and share my opinion. Due to many reasons. But the discussion allowed me to tear down a
little bit of that wall. Both of these experiences are something I know I will experience throughout my
entire college career and learning them the first semester is something that will really help me along
the way. In the book On Looking the most significant part of this book to me was the just how it
opened my mind to the world. This book showed me specific things and details that I had never

Case Study Of Zara Supply Chain
The supply chain is the network created amongst different companies producing, handling and/or
distributing a specific product. Specifically, the supply chain encompasses the steps it takes to get a
good or service from the supplier to the customer {1}. Supply chain management is a crucial process
for many companies, and many companies strive to have the most optimized supply chain because it
usually translates to lower costs for the company and in Zara s case a highly competitive and

The Ongoing Debate Over the Use of Stem Cells Essay
In the past two decades, many technological and scientific advances have been made in order to make
life easier for many people who suffer from cancer, disease and sickness. Among these advances there
is something revolutionary called stem cells. Stem cells can help restore and regenerate almost all
parts of the human body such as the heart, kidney, liver, and many other organs. Although stem cells
offer a lot, there are many views against and for stem cells, and among these views lies the debate of
whether stem cells should be legalized or not (NIH 2). Stem cells offer exciting new opportunities in
the field of science such as regenerating human body parts, but many people are still debating whether
or not the use of stem cells is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to get stem cells from embryos, the embryo must be destroyed, and many people view this as
killing a human, making it immoral. These embryonic cells can be given different tasks such as
making a specific organ, and this is how different body parts can be made. Stem cells have been
published in newspapers since 1998, but no institute or company invested money or time into stem
cells until 2001, when the Canadian Institute of Health Sciences decided to fund the research of stem
cells. Stem cells have three general properties, which are being capable of dividing and renewing for
long periods, they have to be unspecialized, and they have to be able to give rise to specialized cells
(NIH 3). Stem cells are unspecialized cells in embryos and umbilical cords that can be modified using
signals in order to make specialized cells which then have the ability form into various different body
parts such as livers, kidneys, hearts, and other major organs. The process of when an unspecialized
stem cell turns into a specialized stem cell is called differentiation (NIH 1). In order for unspecialized
stem cells to become specialized, one of the two types of signals should be used. The first signal is
called internal. Internal signals occur inside a cell by its own genes, which are encoded on strands of
DNA. The second signal is called external and this is possible with external support such as
chemicals, physical contact, or other molecules in the

The Heroic Code
The life of a warrior is not always filled with glamour and glory. Warriors cannot simply waltz
through a tough battle, shedding blood left and right and taking all the glory and credit for themselves.
There are often tough decisions to be made. Warriors also cannot just think of themselves, for their
decisions often affect the lives of others as well. They need the heroic code to guide them in their
decision making. In this essay, I will describe the heroic code and share its applications in the stories
of Beowulf, Gilgamesh and Noah, and The Illiad, as well as my other personal experiences. I will start
with the story of The Man of La Mancha, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beowulf s loyalty is most prominent at the end when he fights the dragon. He did not want to fight the
dragon because of his age, but felt that he owed it to the king to do it. Beowulf was so highly revered
that everyone was deeply saddened by his death. He truly lived his life exactly to the Germanic heroic
code. Nearly all of Beowulf s actions in this poem follow the heroic code. He saved lives, fought
every battle bravely, was loyal even in situations of life and death, courageous, and rewarded and
revered even the warriors underneath him. The fact that he died in battle just means that he did not
only live as a hero but die as one too. The last example of the heroic code in epic stories is from The
Epic of Gilgamesh. Similarly to Beowulf, Achilles, and Hector, Gilgamesh was very strong and very
brave, like a typical hero. He is on a quest to be the ultimate hero and achieve everlasting life.
Gilgamesh has fought and won battles against several infamous monsters: Humbaba, the Bull of
Heaven, and a pack of vicious lions. However, even though Gilgamesh was very brave and strong, he
was not a good king to his people. He put his own interests before theirs and ruled with a cruel iron
fist, as well as being obsessed with his own legacy.
In conclusion, the heroic code was a set of beliefs and values that guided warriors to make the tough
decisions that they would undoubtedly be

Theodore Roethke s Life And Life
Dr. S. Papleacos
ENG 202
July 31, 2015
Theodore Roethke
Theodore Roethke was born in Saginaw, Michigan on May 25, 1908 to Otto Roethke and Helen
Huebner. Along with uncle, his mother and father owned a local greenhouse, where Roethke spent a
lot of his childhood days working and playing. He referred to the greenhouse as my symbol for the
whole of life, a womb, a heaven on earth ( ). The greenhouse played a huge role in his poetry. Roethke
implies that only after death of the self can people come to realize the true purpose of life, love.
Roethke always had stored in the back of his mind the idea that personal selves were not the focus of
time on earth ( ). Therefore, people must experience the death of their selves before they can truly live.
This idea begins the poem Frau Bauman, Frau Schmidt, and Frau Schwartze, which begins with the
word Gone. Therefore, the poem begins with death although it is essentially a poem about childhood
and the birth of life. The poem suggests lost integrity, and the three ancient ladies, are main figures in
his memory and symbols of myth in his imagination (Balakian 53). For Roethke, the three women are
concurrently nurturers of life in the greenhouse and muses who symbolize the awareness of his
creative personality, encouraging the force of his imagination and bringing him to a recognition of his
gift and calling (Balakian 61). In his poem Root Cellar, Roethke focuses on plant roots that have the

Analysis Of Wolfgang Schivelbusch s Tastes Of Paradise
In this book, Tastes of Paradise, Wolfgang Schivelbusch, takes us through the history of the most

Schivelbusch talks about how those substances have been first introduce to the Western nations and

Coffee functioned as a historically significant drug. It spread through the body and achieved

This paper will discuss the battle of the book and the movie of The Lightning Thief. When it comes to
The Lightning Thief the book is better because it is more fun to read than to watch. I enjoyed it
because it has dramatic scenes. It is also a good book because it has many Greek gods. The three
reasons the book is better than the movie are Ares, Cerberus, and Charon. The first reason the book is
better than the movie is because it has Ares. Ares makes everyone angry. Also, he is important because
he s tricks Percy into bringing the lighting bolt to Hades. A epic scene is when Ares fights Percy on the

Planned Behavior And Theory Of Reasoned Action
Measuring suicide has developed significantly in the last few decades. Cases are reported more
accurately than ever before, yet it is still described as one of the most complex public health concerns.
There is no definite pathophysiological explanation of suicide yet, however other models and theories
help to interpret the phenomena of this form of self injury (Chang, 2011). There tends to be a spectrum
regarding positions on this behavior, what society views as normal versus abnormal. Much research
has been conducted using the Theory of Planned Behavior and Theory of Reasoned Action
(TRA/TPB). With these theories, the focus relies more on social behavior rather than a mental health
issue or disorder (Armitage, 2004). Western philosophers

Three Cups Of Tea By Greg Mortenson And Relin
The Overshadowing Truth Multiple lies can easily turn any righteous act into a worthless one. In the
popular novel Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Relin, the superficial eye might
consider Mortenson a respectable and honorable man, but a deeper investigation proves otherwise.
Mortenson paints himself as a hero in his book, Three Cups of Tea, but the truth of the matter exceeds
his accomplishments as he deceptively tells exciting stories throughout his book, dishonorably extends
his endeavors to glorify his own public image, and intentionally abuses the power he possesses in his
charity. Three Cups of Tea begins with a breathtaking story of how Mortenson finds the village of
Korphe and ultimately promises to build the children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Krakauer hits Mortenson s motive dead center when he explains, Mortenson lies to inflate the myth of
Greg Mortenson, the astonishing, uplifting story of a real life Indiana Jones, and his remarkable
humanitarian campaign in the Taliban s backyard, as the back cover of Three Cups of Tea puts it (18).
An example of this inflation is covered in the 60 Minutes interview when it is said that Mortenson
tells Charlie Rose that he built eleven schools in Kunar Province, instead of the reality of three
(Kroft). It is clear that Mortenson craves the praise of the public and will make up any lies or
exaggerate to astound people. Furthermore, what most people do not know about Mortenson s schools
is that not only does he lie about the number built, but the conditions of them are lied about as well.
Out of the one hundred forty two schools that the Central Asia Institute (CAI) supposedly built, many
are not being used, or if they are, it is for other reasons, such as storage. Multiple schools are not
affiliated with CAI anymore as the schools do not obtain aid from Mortenson s foundation. There are
some schools that are mentioned by the CAI that could not even be found, and others that could
actually be located, are not in good condition (Kroft). There definitely are various forms of
miscommunications and disorganization present in the CAI, however Mortenson does an adequate job

Examples Of Miracles By Walt Whitman
For centuries, people have had differing opinions about miracles. Have any miracles ever really
happened? Or is everything a at the mercy of chance? Across all cultures, peoples, and time periods,
there have been stories of miracles. In the Isreali culture alone, there are stories of Moses calling down
plagues upon Egypt and parting the red sea to lead the people to freedom. Many stories like this are
told across cultures. And then there are the miracles of Jesus, which spearheaded the movement of
Christianity across the world. Today, it is difficult to know whether or not miracle have ever really
happened. Whitman s poem, Miracles, seems to be in response to this very question, Is there any such
thing as a miracle? While many people would look for miraculous healing or resurrection from the

Strengths And Weaknesses
In order to define and understand myself in the workplace, I need to know my strengths and
weaknesses. What improvements and alterations do I need in order to be a step closer to success in the
workplace? As a starting point, the self assessments provided by McGrawHill and the information
from management class will provide a clearer picture of who I am in terms of leading, acquired needs,
teamwork attitudes, global potential, and strategic thinking. From what I have gathered, the results
relating to personality were accurate and the results relating to potential were surprising to me. With
this information, I am able to produce and strengthen goals to improve. The survey results I am most
satisfied with are acquired needs and global potential because a need for achievement and potential for
global managing are the two qualities I like the most about myself in terms of my future goals. The
negative results that come as no surprise to me are teamwork and a need for power and affiliation.
Although I was aware of these strengths and weaknesses, these self assessment tests put an emphasis
and reminded me that I need to work harder in my attitude and behaviors when
interacting/collaborating with people in the workplace. Whether I got good results or not, all of these
qualities can be continuously worked on for improvement.
The motivation to lead has 3 aspects: how you see yourself as a leader, how willing you are to lead on
your own and how you respond to others ask you to lead (Chan and Drasgow, 2001). I scored high on
my motivation to lead. This was one of the unexpected results since I don t find it easy to take
initiative in leading; it requires a lot of communication and human skills (Kinicki, 2018, p23). In
chapter 1 of Kinicki, motivating, directing and influencing people to work hard to achieve the
organization s goals is the definition of leading. To make sure everyone in the organization is on the
same page, one must be able to bring everyone together and resolve any obstacles that may come. I
have not associated those actions with the term leading but rather assisting which is probably why I
was surprised with the results. Now that I know I have some motivation to lead, I should work on the

Crops such as cotton and wheat, once the sustenance of the agriculture industry, were selling at prices
so low that it was nearly impossible for farmers to make a profit off them. Furthermore, improvement
in transportation made it easier for foreign competition to gain the upper hand, making it harder for
American farmers to dispose of extra crops that had accumulated. To do this, many railroads offered
rebates and drawbacks to larger shippers who used their rails. As a result of the agricultural
depression, many farm groups, most notably the Populist Party, arose to fight what farmers saw as the
reasons for the decline in agriculture. The railroads regularly used rebates and drawbacks to help win
the business of large shippers, and made up this loss in profit by increasing the cost to smaller shippers
such as farmers. However, in many ways, the railroads hurt small shippers and farmers. During the
last twenty years of the nineteenth century, many farmers in the United States saw monopolies and
trusts, railroads, and money shortages and the loss in value of silver as threats to their way of life,
though in many cases their complaints were not valid. Finally, years of drought in the Midwest and the
downward spiral of business in the 1890 s devastated many of the nation s farmers. Thus, the farmers
of the late nineteenth century had a valid complaint against railroad shippers, for these farmers were

Learning New Concepts And Points Of View
For my flexibility, it says that I take a highly flexible approach to life and are likely very open to new
and changing ideas and circumstances. I agree with this point a lot, because throughout my life so far I
have had to change things that I have done last minute to accomplish something else that was going
on. Also, it says that I tend to embrace change in school, work and life in general. I agree with this too,
because during school I always got excited when I got a new class because it was something different.
Lastly, it says that flexibility allows me to be open to learning new concepts and exploring differing
points of view. This one is a little harder for me to completely agree to, because yes I am open to new
ideas but not all the time when exploring new concepts and points of view. One example is when I
was suppose to tutor a girl in my high school and she was having problems finding a time that would
work for both of us. I came up with a time during school that we could meet and I told her that she
could come up with any day Monday through Friday at the time that we had determined would work
best for both of us.
My social responsibility is very accurate. It states that I have a strong concern and compassion for
society and act act as a champion for making a difference. The other one says that I likely gain deeper
connection to the welfare of others and as a result, gain a broad perspective of others struggles. I have
always felt that I have had a strong

Evaluate Gm s Currency Hedging Policies Essay
3. Evaluate GM s currency hedging policies. [3 pages] {Gavin} {Ryan} The issue here may lie with
the 50% to 75% hedge as it is doubtful as to why GM does not hedge its receivables / payables by
100%. Perhaps the issue is related to high costs of using options and their receivables / payables run
into huge amounts. Additionally, GM is not keen on committing to a forward because they have
positive expectations about the future exchange rate and the forward would only serve to limit their
possible gains.

However by paying a small premium for an option, GM would be able to preserve the upside of any
exposure. This is because an option gives them the right to choose whether to exercise it or not upon
maturity. Hence, if the CAD dollar weakens against the USD, GM s large Canadian assets and
liabilities and payables owed to Canadian suppliers would weaken considerably. GM could then
choose to exercise the option for a better exchange rate. Conversely, if the CAD dollar strengthens,
then GM would choose not to exercise the option as their cash flows denominated in Canadian dollar
is now worth more compared to the USD.
The level of risk adverseness plays a huge role because GM may be inclined to hedge all exposure
using a forward if they are highly risk adverse. On the other hand, GM may be willing to pay a
premium for an option to ensure the still receive the upside if they are not so risk adverse. This links to
expectations on future spot rates and how GM anticipates the CAD to fluctuate vis à vis the USD in
the coming months. If GM anticipates future spot rates of CAD/USD to weaken, it would prefer to
buy a forward and the reverse holds true as well.
After conduction an analysis, it shows that the fluctuations in exchange rate could cause a lot of
trouble for GM. Hence, it reverts back to the issue of GM s expectations of the future spot exchange
rate. From this, they can then determine which hedging method is more

The appraisal process has incorporated an integrative approach, a mechanism to scrutinize efficiency
as well as effectiveness of the player s performance. The efficiency underweights the value added by
the individual player in team performance and effectiveness evaluates the final result, i.e. overall team
performance. Hence, I utterly align with the objective performance appraisal method incorporated in

Demonstrating his acceptance of technology s ubiquity, Mishra says, These things satellite television,
this internet surfing are with us whether we like it or not (610). As technology advances and expands,
the disparity between the two ideals becomes increasingly noticeable and unavoidable. Although
modern and traditional values are very distinct, they have already begun to merge in many aspects of
Indian life. For example, television, a relatively new technology, has been adapted for the traditional
purpose of worshipping. Indian families set up television sets on altars and worship before them when
viewing religious films. At a glance, this practice appears to be sacrilegious and almost sinful.
However, they are not worshipping the technology, but rather utilizing the technology to worship their
gods. Also, when celebrating the wedding anniversary of the gods Shiva and Parvati, Indians decorate
shrines with flashing electric lights pulsing disco music. In the

My Fear Of Fear
Every day, we tend to base our actions on fear. We are afraid of getting poor. We are afraid of getting
old. We are afraid of being criticized. We are even afraid of death! When we come up against
something new or different, we become uncomfortable and nervous. This causes us to pause and
evaluate our options. Indecision crystallizes into doubt and the blending of these two results in fear.
This is where disconnects occur. We tend to rely on gut feelings to make decisions. So, of course, we
stop dead in our tracks and choose NOT to take that next, scary step. That s when fear masters you.
I have been dealing with unfounded fears of fear. It was all started when I learned swimming. I was in
the elementary school. I practiced at the Bulungan Sport Arena. It is about 15 kilometers away from
my house, but only 2 kilometers away from my mother s office. So, my mother can easily check on
me whenever she wants.
At the beginning of the training, the coach introduced us to the training methods. In the first month,
we will occupy the shallow pool to get us comfortable with the water. After that, we will move to the
deep pool to applied swimming styles, as well. All went well until my mum came to my last session in
the shallow pool.
Mbak Anna! she said in a half screaming. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pool was dirty and unkempt. Moreover, the water was green and slimy. We were like cendol . My
mother asked me to stop swam there because she was afraid I would get skin diseases. Finally, I
switch to another sport, which is not in the contact with water. However, my eagerness to swim was
very high. Then, I asked my mother s permission for swimming. She was let me, but with one
condition: do not swim in the deep pool, so I would not get drowned. In the next decades, I spent my
life rock style swimming in a shallow pool, until my friend introduced me to

The Roman Empire
However, numerous aspects allowed the Byzantine Empire to stay in power for a 1000 years after the
end of the Roman Empire; primarily the emperors were focused on the political, culture and economic
affairs from top to bottom. This triangle strategy of the empire backed by a greater strategic
communication and well designed political warfare against their rivals enabled the empire to stay
stable and secure. There are also few other internal and external factors and advantages. Including
some great permanent resource such as Anatolia for workforce and Egypt for cash. The regional
stability was also a significant factor and the Persia, and the Islamic caliphates have not significantly
challenged the emperors. There was also some natural and geographic advantages, such as shorter
borders and few disputes over the land and boundaries. The active Macedonians military and the
Thema system militias were an essential factor in the security. But, the role of leadership should not be
ignored in the empire, and most of the Byzantine emperors were either smart or had the brightest
around them. Martine Luther s challenge of the Catholic Church s through written theses was mostly a
political warfare through existing means and tools. Of course, he is one of the most influential figures
in the history of West, his works even influenced eastern scholars and religious leaders. At the, while

Inside The Mind Of Emily Grierson
Inside The Mind of Emily Grierson
Mental illness is not an uncommon thing to come across when faced with traumatic or psychologically
damaging events. It is a combination of both of these in the case of Emily Grierson within William
Faulkner s short story A Rose for Emily . A strong reliance on her father due to his strict rule
prohibiting her from seeing other men combined with his passing and initially denial of his death
results in Miss Emily being both mentally unstable and completely disconnected from the world
around her. The consequences for the stunted emotional growth of Miss Emily was that she could not
let go of the dead which results in her keeping bodies of the dead from being taken away from her on
two separate occasions, one of which was the product of her murdering her lover Homer Barron to
make sure that he could never leave her. Some critics believe that all of these events ultimately stem
from the initial control that her father had over her, and how he sheltered her from the world with a
strong rule.
Being isolated from the world can cause people to be crippled in a way when it comes to developing
normally on a mental level. There is a certain need for human interaction when it comes to learning
how to properly function in society. In her criticism regarding the unraveling of Miss Emily entitled A
road to destruction and self destruction: the same fate of Emily And Elly , Pingping Yang discusses the
emotional dependency that Emily had to her father.

Symptoms And Treatment Of Neuropathic Pain
Pain is a complex, unpleasant, and disruptive sensation. The day to day pain people experience from a
paper cut or a flu shot results from the activation of nociceptive receptors at the site of tissue injury,
which is known as nociceptive pain. Some individuals also have experience with a different type of
pain, one that is chronic, intractable, disabling, and it arises as a direct consequence of a lesion or
disease affecting the somatosensory system (Treede, 2008). This form of pain is neuropathic pain.
The term neuropathic pain is loosely used in the literature without a well defined classification system
and it broadly represents any syndromes with an underlying physiologic damage to the pain
transmission pathway (Treede, 2008). The causes of nerve tissue damage in neuropathic pain, whether
peripherally or central, are widespread. They range from nerve destruction during surgery or trauma to
metabolic disturbances, cancer, infectious diseases and other causes (Woolf, 1999). Common
symptoms suggestive of neuropathic pain are spontaneous or provoked sensory abnormalities such as
dysesthesia, paresthesia, allodynia, as well as complete sensory deficit in some cases. A few types of
neuropathic pain with manifestations in the head and neck region are trigeminal neuralgia,
glossopharyngeal neuralgia, post herpetic neuralgia and atypical facial pain. Dentists are in a unique
position where they are challenged on an almost daily basis to diagnose and treat pain in the orofacial

  • 2. Freddie Mercury s Bohemian Rhapsody Rock and roll holds a lot of dirty secrets, fortunately for Queen s lead singer Freddie Mercury has a more colorful mystery. Queens album A Night at The Opera released a single in 1975 called Bohemian Rhapsody , which sent listeners in a whirlwind of up beat rhythms. Behind the elegant vibratos and shredding guitar solos, Bohemian Rhapsody is Mercury peeling away his rock star persona by confessing his homosexuality through religious allusions and creative metaphors. Like any confession Mercury starts off by apologizing to his mother, metaphorically stating he is done with playing as a straight male claiming that life style is behind him. Second stanza he bellows Mama, just killed a man Put a gun against his head Pulled my trigger, now he s dead... (Bohemian), Jim Hutton explains to Lesley Ann Jones, author of biography Mercury that He,s dead, the straight person he was originally, he s destroyed the man he was trying to be, and now this is him, trying to live with the new Freddie (Jones). Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant Case Study Introduction (Section I) Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant is a privately owned company in Richmond, Indiana that manufactured mirrors for trucks and automobiles. This privately owned business was successful in the beginning of its business and later the management encountered problems with its employees. Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant faced production delay issues and unprofitability in the late 1990 s. The company implemented the Scanlon Plan in late December of 1999 in order to solve the problem they were facing with production. This plan helps paid bonuses to workers for increased productivity and this brought fast positive feedback for the employees and the organization. Although about 81% of employees voted yes on the implementation of the Scanlon Plan at Engstrom, communication problem and lack of understanding how this Scanlon plan works dragged the employees to develop a non interest in the company, causing employees to lose interest in participation of the Scanlon plan. Employees became suspicious to bonus calculation adjustments over time and questioned fairness. This is considered as nonverbal negative feedback for a message that may have been highly affected by noise. Employees want to feel like their boss is siding with them in a compassionate manner. Effective communication and thorough understanding of the policies of the organization would motivate the employees. However, even though the Scanlon plan was allowing fair strategic planning among coworkers, it overloaded the employees with more information that they could assimilate. • 4. The Diet Of The Atkins Diet A physician by the name of Robert Atkins started the Atkins Diet in 1972 after he stumbled upon a study he read in the Journal of the American Medical Association about weight reduction through the elimination of sugar and starch. At the time he was overweight and decided to implement this study into his own life and ended up losing a significant amount of weight. This led him to promoting the diet in his own series of books. The overall premise of the diet is to start with limiting the number of carbohydrates being consumed while eating as much fat and protein you want. Then, gradually increasing the amount of healthy carbohydrates consumed. There are 4 phases to the Atkins diet: Induction, Ongoing Weight Loss, Pre Maintenance, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second phase of the Atkins diet is Ongoing Weight Loss where you slowly increase the amount of carbohydrates in your diet. Essentially you add 5 grams of carbs to your diet every week until you reach a point where you aren t gaining or losing weight (Atkins, 2002). The third phase of the diet is Pre Maintenance in which carbohydrate intake is slightly increased again. However, this time the increase is significant enough that the body is no longer in a state of ketosis. The key here is to find a maximum level of carbohydrates you can consume without gaining weight (Atkins, 2002). Lifetime Maintenance is the final phase of the Atkins diet. In this phase you are expected to carry out the habits acquired from the previous phases. If you find yourself gaining weight again then you can revert back to one of the previous phases. This is a permanent lifestyle you need to adapt in order to carry on with the progress you made so far (Atkins, 2002). The main reason we are limiting carbohydrates in the first place is to control the release of insulin by the pancreas. Carbohydrates are responsible for raising insulin levels, which in turn promotes glucose uptake by the cells. On the other hand, insulin initiates a pathway that inhibits fat breakdown and at the same time promotes synthesis of fatty acid, cholesterol, and glycogen. Therefore, elevated levels of insulin are associated with cardiovascular disease. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Living by rules and judgment for example; no flushing the toilet after ten or no laughing after midnight, etc. In addition to his research, he remembers that a certain naturalist, claimed that humans have the innate love for nature through evolutionary past. Weiner then takes a trip to Bern; a place so quaint, you might end up leaving from insanity, of it is so quiet and small. He then travels to Zurich for a short while, to see how well people on that side of town spend their happiness. • 7. Analysis Of The Film Dances With Wolves The 1990 film Dances With Wolves directed by Kevin Costner covers a number of topics such as the Civil War, westward expansion, and white Indian relations. Being set in the frontier during the Civil War, the primary issue the film raises is the white cruelty towards Native Americans during this time period. This film can be classified as a realistic historical fiction because it depicts the humanity and morals of the Sioux Indians while, at the same time, showing how they were treated by the white American soldiers. Dances With Wolves starts out by introducing the main character, John Dunbar, as a soldier in the Civil War. Because he was dressed like an Indian, the soldiers treated him as such, beating and calling him a traitor. When he did not return for a few days, the Indians knew something was wrong, and they sent a search party. In the same way that John helped the Sioux fight the Pawnee, the Sioux were now helping John fight the soldiers. The rescue attempt was successful and they all made it back to the village. Although Dances With Wolves is not a historically accurate and true story of the Civil War, it is a historical fiction that is based on many true facts. The film starts off with a very unrealistic beginning. It is set in the Civil War, on a battlefield, and John Dunbar rides a horse openly right past the opposing side without getting shot. This seems to be the only unrealistic part of this film, however. For example, the Sioux Indians not being total savages was true. White people did treat all Indians poorly, and they justified their actions by saying that all Indians are savages. This film shows that in fact, not all Indians were cruel and bloodthirsty, the Pawnee were the only mean Indians depicted. The Sioux are portrayed as mostly peaceful humans with great moral standards. They only fight when they feel threatened, such as by the Pawnee tribe, or the white soldiers that imprisoned Dances With Wolves (John Dunbar). Furthermore, the problem of white men hunting buffalo was also based on true facts. The Indians did not feel that it was the white ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Festival Republic and Glastonbury Festival Glastonbury from hippy weekend to international festival Steve Henderson, Leeds Metropolitan University Glastonbury Festival has beconne a worldwide attraction for music fans and artists alike. In 2009, Bruce Springsteen was added to the long list of acts (from Paul McCartney to Oasis) that have appeared at the festival. In a worrying move, Live Nation announced that they would entice a number of major artists to appear on the weekend normally used by Glastonbury at a new UK festival called Wireless. Based in London, this seemed set to offer a city based alternative to Glastonbury. At much the same time, Live Nation announced that they would launch their own online ticket agency to support the sales of their music events. This shift in power between the major music promoters indicated not only their interest in the ownership of key events but their desire to control income streams. Elsewhere in the world of live entertainment, the success of Glastonbury had not gone unnoticed and the festival market showed considerable growth. Some of the other festivals tried to capitalise on features that Glastonbury could not offer. For example, Glastonbury was famous for its wet weather with pictures of damp revellers and collapsed tents being commonplace. Live Nation s city based Wireless festival offered the opportunity to sleep under a roof at home or hotel, as opposed to risking the weather outdoors. Alternatively, Benicassim in southern Spain offered a festival with an excellent chance of sunshine and top acts for the price of a low cost airline ticket. Other festivals noted that Glastonbury attenders enjoyed the wider entertainment at the event. In doing this, they realised that many festival goers were attracted by the whole social experience. • 10. Review Of Index Building Methodologies Essay Alexander Khoury 11/7/2014 Review of Index Building Methodologies Introduction: In recent decades, academics, policymakers and non governmental organizations have placed greater focus on establishing more comprehensive metrics of well being and development ##. Measures of national welfare have conventionally centered on a fairly narrow band of economic considerations, such as gross domestic product (GDP) and employment rate. Poverty and wellbeing are now widely understood as multifaceted concepts which cannot be adequately described through measurements of income alone. Economists and development experts are faced with the challenge of constructing metrics to distill the various components of wellbeing into an easily comparable index. The following summarizes the most salient contemporary methods of index construction and provide a brief overview of their strengths and weaknesses. Transformation Functions: In order to build a multi dimensional index it is first necessary to convert the various components deemed relevant into a comparable, aggregatable set of units. That is, to find a way to bring variables like average income (which may be expect to fall in the range of tens of thousands of dollars) and life expectancy (which would rarely exceed 90 years) into the same scale of measurement. The mathematical tools used to accomplish this task are known as transformation functions. We can sort the transformation functions which are relevant to index formation into five ... • 13. Eyewitness Testimony And Evidence Testimony Essay In the end of a court case, there is guilty and innocent. Sometimes the guilty is judged accordingly, other times the innocent is judged guilty. Eyewitness testimony gives details about what happened, identification of perpetrators. Eyewitness can be the central focus of the whole investigation, and is also heavily focused on and powerful in the courtroom. Hence, eyewitness testimony is largely one of the reasons as to why innocent individuals are thrown in prison. Although generally without a doubt, eyewitness testimony is helpful to the court and investigation, but memory alone is not always reliable. That previous statement was not meaning to convict all eyewitness testimony, but it is just common sense to understand that not all eyewitness testimony is accurate or true. Eyewitness testimony must be evaluated before allowing witnesses to be put into a courtroom because there are many aspects as to why eyewitness testimony is not sincere or reliable. There are many factors as to why relying eyewitness testimony is not always an advantage. During the witnessing of an event, there may be psychological factors such as stress, trauma, or anxiety that can affect the testimony (McLeod). Along with uncle, his mother and father owned a local greenhouse, where Roethke spent a lot of his childhood days working and playing. He referred to the greenhouse as my symbol for the whole of life, a womb, a heaven on earth ( ). The greenhouse played a huge role in his poetry. Roethke implies that only after death of the self can people come to realize the true purpose of life, love. Roethke always had stored in the back of his mind the idea that personal selves were not the focus of time on earth ( ). Therefore, people must experience the death of their selves before they can truly live. This idea begins the poem Frau Bauman, Frau Schmidt, and Frau Schwartze, which begins with the word Gone. Therefore, the poem begins with death although it is essentially a poem about childhood and the birth of life. The poem suggests lost integrity, and the three ancient ladies, are main figures in his memory and symbols of myth in his imagination (Balakian 53). From what I have gathered, the results relating to personality were accurate and the results relating to potential were surprising to me. With this information, I am able to produce and strengthen goals to improve. The survey results I am most satisfied with are acquired needs and global potential because a need for achievement and potential for global managing are the two qualities I like the most about myself in terms of my future goals. The negative results that come as no surprise to me are teamwork and a need for power and affiliation. Although I was aware of these strengths and weaknesses, these self assessment tests put an emphasis and reminded me that I need to work harder in my attitude and behaviors when interacting/collaborating with people in the workplace. Whether I got good results or not, all of these qualities can be continuously worked on for improvement. The motivation to lead has 3 aspects: how you see yourself as a leader, how willing you are to lead on your own and how you respond to others ask you to lead (Chan and Drasgow, 2001). I scored high on my motivation to lead. This was one of the unexpected results since I don t find it easy to take initiative in leading; it requires a lot of communication and human skills (Kinicki, 2018, p23). In chapter 1 of Kinicki, motivating, directing and influencing people to work hard to achieve the organization s goals is the definition of leading. To make sure everyone in the organization is on the same page, one must be able to bring everyone together and resolve any obstacles that may come. I have not associated those actions with the term leading but rather assisting which is probably why I was surprised with the results. Now that I know I have some motivation to lead, I should work on the next ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Emerging Church Research Paper Thesis Statement In this research paper, the author will examine the theology of the Emerging Church and discuss the dangers this kind of Christianity threatens on the church as a whole. The Need for the Study For many years, preachers and teachers have warned congregations about a church that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death (Proverbs 14:12). It has been said in casual conversation that the Emerging Church is a modern day effort to transform the church into a place that is accepting of all truths and all faiths no matter their origin. If this is true, it could bring interesting challenges to the true church that was launched on the Day of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2. 2 Timothy 4:3 4 says, 3 For the ... Crops such as cotton and wheat, once the sustenance of the agriculture industry, were selling at prices so low that it was nearly impossible for farmers to make a profit off them. Furthermore, improvement in transportation made it easier for foreign competition to gain the upper hand, making it harder for American farmers to dispose of extra crops that had accumulated. To do this, many railroads offered rebates and drawbacks to larger shippers who used their rails. As a result of the agricultural depression, many farm groups, most notably the Populist Party, arose to fight what farmers saw as the reasons for the decline in agriculture. The railroads regularly used rebates and drawbacks to help win the business of large shippers, and made up this loss in profit by increasing the cost to smaller shippers such as farmers. However, in many ways, the railroads hurt small shippers and farmers. During the last twenty years of the nineteenth century, many farmers in the United States saw monopolies and trusts, railroads, and money shortages and the loss in value of silver as threats to their way of life, though in many cases their complaints were not valid. Finally, years of drought in the Midwest and the downward spiral of business in the 1890 s devastated many of the nation s farmers. I agree with this point a lot, because throughout my life so far I have had to change things that I have done last minute to accomplish something else that was going on. Also, it says that I tend to embrace change in school, work and life in general. I agree with this too, because during school I always got excited when I got a new class because it was something different. Lastly, it says that flexibility allows me to be open to learning new concepts and exploring differing points of view. This one is a little harder for me to completely agree to, because yes I am open to new ideas but not all the time when exploring new concepts and points of view. One example is when I was suppose to tutor a girl in my high school and she was having problems finding a time that would work for both of us. I came up with a time during school that we could meet and I told her that she could come up with any day Monday through Friday at the time that we had determined would work best for both of us. My social responsibility is very accurate. It states that I have a strong concern and compassion for society and act act as a champion for making a difference. [3 pages] {Gavin} {Ryan} The issue here may lie with the 50% to 75% hedge as it is doubtful as to why GM does not hedge its receivables / payables by 100%. Perhaps the issue is related to high costs of using options and their receivables / payables run into huge amounts. Additionally, GM is not keen on committing to a forward because they have positive expectations about the future exchange rate and the forward would only serve to limit their possible gains. However by paying a small premium for an option, GM would be able to preserve the upside of any exposure. This is because an option gives them the right to choose whether to exercise it or not upon maturity. Hence, if the CAD dollar weakens against the USD, GM s large Canadian assets and liabilities and payables owed to Canadian suppliers would weaken considerably. GM could then choose to exercise the option for a better exchange rate. Conversely, if the CAD dollar strengthens, then GM would choose not to exercise the option as their cash flows denominated in Canadian dollar is now worth more compared to the USD. The level of risk adverseness plays a huge role because GM may be inclined to hedge all exposure using a forward if they are highly risk adverse. On the other hand, GM may be willing to pay a premium for an option to ensure the still receive the upside if they are not so risk adverse. This links to expectations on future spot rates and how GM anticipates the CAD to fluctuate vis à vis the USD in the coming months. If GM anticipates future spot rates of CAD/USD to weaken, it would prefer to buy a forward and the reverse holds true as well. After conduction an analysis, it shows that the fluctuations in exchange rate could cause a lot of trouble for GM. Hence, it reverts back to the issue of GM s expectations of the future spot exchange rate. From this, they can then determine which hedging method is more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The efficiency underweights the value added by the individual player in team performance and effectiveness evaluates the final result, i.e. overall team performance. It is a combination of both of these in the case of Emily Grierson within William Faulkner s short story A Rose for Emily . A strong reliance on her father due to his strict rule prohibiting her from seeing other men combined with his passing and initially denial of his death results in Miss Emily being both mentally unstable and completely disconnected from the world around her. The consequences for the stunted emotional growth of Miss Emily was that she could not let go of the dead which results in her keeping bodies of the dead from being taken away from her on two separate occasions, one of which was the product of her murdering her lover Homer Barron to make sure that he could never leave her. Some critics believe that all of these events ultimately stem from the initial control that her father had over her, and how he sheltered her from the world with a strong rule. Being isolated from the world can cause people to be crippled in a way when it comes to developing normally on a mental level. There is a certain need for human interaction when it comes to learning how to properly function in society. • 45. Symptoms And Treatment Of Neuropathic Pain Pain is a complex, unpleasant, and disruptive sensation. The day to day pain people experience from a paper cut or a flu shot results from the activation of nociceptive receptors at the site of tissue injury, which is known as nociceptive pain. Some individuals also have experience with a different type of pain, one that is chronic, intractable, disabling, and it arises as a direct consequence of a lesion or disease affecting the somatosensory system (Treede, 2008). This form of pain is neuropathic pain. The term neuropathic pain is loosely used in the literature without a well defined classification system and it broadly represents any syndromes with an underlying physiologic damage to the pain transmission pathway (Treede, 2008). The causes of nerve tissue damage in neuropathic pain, whether peripherally or central, are widespread. They range from nerve destruction during surgery or trauma to metabolic disturbances, cancer, infectious diseases and other causes (Woolf, 1999). Common symptoms suggestive of neuropathic pain are spontaneous or provoked sensory abnormalities such as dysesthesia, paresthesia, allodynia, as well as complete sensory deficit in some cases. A few types of neuropathic pain with manifestations in the head and neck region are trigeminal neuralgia, glossopharyngeal neuralgia, post herpetic neuralgia and atypical facial pain.
