18th Amendment Pros And Cons
3rd Housing soldiers was a common practice militaries used for shelter. It was a form of home
invasion by the government, and prohibiting this gave citizens more sense of security to their
property, and not involving them in the war which they aren t fighting. Although, the only time
that soldiers need housing is when we mobilize soldiers, otherwise they should be at bases. As
much as this was relevant in the 1800 s, we haven t had a need to use civilian s homes for
military purposes. There isn t much to say about this amendment anymore. 18th I know lots of
other students see this amendment flawed simply because you can t ban alcohol, then maybe
even lead that into some fabricated argument about marijuana because this is Arapahoe.
Prohibition isn t some type of morality issue to me, nor supporting it as a device to make you
righteous. That being said, I find the presents of alcohol and other feel good drugs in our first
world useless. I repeatedly see articles saying how the 18th amendment has done more harm
than good, but the level of damages caused by alcohol s influence unprsidenly sets that harm to
shame and the ideology of the amendment is the only good. I can go on and on about how
pathetic I find people who abuse and rely on its effects, but I will spare you the bantering of my
thinks he s always right teenager opinion. I dislike this amendment not because I disagreed with it,
but because it failed and will forever be an argument against any future law regarding the usage of
alcohol and other recreational drugs. 21st... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Compensation Of Henrietta Lacks
Henrietta Lacks was born in Roanoke Virginia on August 1, 1920. She was a young black
women who would end up making the biggest contribution to science in humanity. Henrietta
began to feel something in her stomach that made her very uncomfortable and often stated she
could feel a lump. Lacks decided to take a visit to John Hopkins hospital in January of 1951, and
this would change her life forever. John Hopkins hospital was the only nearby hospital for miles
that would assist those of the negro descent. Henrietta began her visit by signing a form that gave
permission to doctors to perform any medical procedures needed. When she began her
examination, Howard Jones found a cancerous lump inside her cervix and she was misdiagnosed.

Compensation is something, usually money, given to someone as a recompense for loss, injury, or
suffering. This actual definition lines up perfectly with what the family had to endure from
Henrietta, doctors, and the entire medical field themselves. Henrietta Lacks has a lot of family
members and many are still alive to this day. Henrietta was actually born Loretta Pleasant and
later changed her name (Biography). Her parents are John Randall Pleasant and Eliza Lacks
Pleasant. After the death of her mother, Henrietta moved with her grandfather and met her soon
to be husband David Day Lacks. David was Henrietta s first cousin and this caused health issues
such as hearing loss within her children. In 1935, Henrietta and David had a son named
Lawrence (Biography). They soon had another daughter named Elsie in 1939, and eventually
married in 1941 (Biography). Elsie was diagnosed with mental illness and sent to an insane
asylum where she was often beaten and later died. Images were taken of the horrific experiments
and environmental living of these individuals. Henrietta and Day later moved to Maryland and had
three more children: David Jr., Deborah, and Joseph were (Biography). Rebecca Skloot wrote a
book called, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, where she had many encounters with this
family today (Family Perspective). Rebecca stayed very close and had many interviews with
Henrietta s daughter, Deborah. Skloot got to encounter Deborah seeing her mother s cells through
a microscope 50 years after her mother s death and she was stunned (Gabbay). The family was
unaware of what a cell even was. Medical researchers and scientists kept the HeLa cells a secret
from the family for over twenty years (Gabbay). After the family witnessed the cells, their entire
perspective changed. Deborah was amazed by these cells and finally wrapped her head around how
much she impacted the world. The family only truly knew the

The World Intellectual Property Organization Essay
Intellectual property is an asset to an individual or a business. Even though intellectual property is
intangible, it is very important to protect it. Protection of intellectual property can be one of the
most important business decisions one can make.
The World Intellectual Property Organization (n.d.) states intellectual property refers to creations of
the mind. This can include inventions but also includes literary and artistic works, as well as
symbols, names and images used in commerce. The World Property Organization (n.d.) categorizes
intellectual property into two categories, which are industrial property and copyright. Industrial
property includes trademarks, patents for inventions, and industrial designs and geographical
indications. Copyright includes music, films, literary and artistic works (World Intellectual
Property Organization, n.d.).
The World Intellectual Property Organization (n.d.) helps one understand the importance of
protecting intellectual property. They have spelled out several reasons of this importance including
inventing new works in technology and culture, which allows progress to be made that, can be
utilized worldwide. In addition, the legal protection of intellectual property encourages the
commitment of additional resources for further modernization. Finally, promoting and protecting
intellectual property encourages economic growth. It creates new jobs and industries. Protecting

Media Violence Essay
There has been far reaching research on the link between televised violence and violent behavior
amongst adolescents. Current studies have shown a direct correlation between aggressive conduct
and watching violence depicted in many media services and suggest that media is a variable that
put children at risk of aggressive behavior (Huesmann, Moise Titus, Podolski, Eron, 1992).
According to the American Psychological Association, watching playing violent scenes them on
games and television, can desensitize children to the suffering and pain of others and may be a
greater risk of acting aggressively toward others and they re less bothered by violencein general and
less likely to see anything wrong with it. Studies disclose that children... Show more content on

Many argue that media violence is at least partly to blame for the school shootings in Littleton,
Colorado, Taber, Alberta and Erfurt, Germany.
Proponents of the idea that violence depicted on both television and video games affects the
behavior of children state that, contrary to other beliefs, these scenes teach a higher sense of the
justification of the use of violence in different situations (Tompkins, 2003). It teaches that violence
is a correct avenue to solve differences, which is not an acceptable action within real life
situations. The classic setting of using violence for a virtuous cause may interpret in daily life into
a validation for using violence to even the score against supposed victimizers. Consequently,
defenseless youth who have been maltreated may be tempted to use aggressive means to resolve
problems.
The hero in most of these scenes also teaches them that violence has no consequences because he
/she never gets in trouble for their actions. Most psychologists agree that experiences teach children
during their early years and have a longstanding effect on their lives. Toddlers between the ages of
eighteen to sixteen months are intelligent enough to comprehend the significance of the programs
(Tompkins, 2003) that they watch and respond in the same manner to both actual and acted
violence since their link between dream and actuality is still not strong. Furthermore, toddlers
between the ages of three and five years are

The Married Life
Marriage is crucial to all adults. Couples need to value their marriage so that they can remain
happy and enjoy life while they are married. For a family to be well established, the couples need
to place more value in their marriages. The reason why most families break up is that most of the
couples do not value or prioritize their familyissues. Most of the couples take their personal
interests as their first priority, which make them to neglect their families and this becomes the
source of conflict. A good example is seen in families where the husband loves football more
than his family thus, he spends a lot of time watching football. Such a husband will most likely
neglect his family because family just in order to enjoy watching football. If there are problems in
such a family, the wife will not solve them alone, as she requires the husband s effort. For a family
to live well, both husband and wife need to commit themselves to each other first in their
relationship. This is very important in every marriagebecause good relationship between the
husband and wife helps to ensure unity and success of the family.
There is need to establish a good relationship between couples because this helps them in solving
their marriage and family problems harmoniously. Statistics show that a family with good
relationship among the partners will solve their problems harmoniously (Guest, 32). The reason for
a couple to get married is to give each other mutual relationship where each of

Dance of the Tumblers is from an opera that is The Snow Maiden. The opera is built in 1952. I

music is intense. It is 2/4 time. There are 2 beats per measure and the quarter note gets one beat.
The main melody is based on the violin and violoncello. Let the entire opening sounds full of
strength. Before this track has always been a minute part of A and B played alternately. Part A is a
powerful ensemble sounds. The melody of Part B sounds of some relatively gentle. In general, this
music makes me feel positive. DanzГіn No.2 originated in 1993. It is Mexico classic style music. It
begins so warm. And then change from violin to be exciting. It makes me feel so nervous, like

The Importance Of The Tenure System In Education
The best teachers bring out their students knowledge. A good teacher makes students more
interested in their lectures. However, these teachers sometimes get fired because they are hired
later than the other teachers who have been working for a longer period of time. This is due to the
Tenure System that keeps teachers from being fired when they teach at a schoolfor a certain amount
of time. Therefore, should the tenuresystem in public schools be eliminated? Some argue that
tenure protects teachers from unfair dismissal; for instance, when teaching unpopular ideas. Also,
it would be unfair to fire teachers in order to save expense, due to the fact that older teachers get
paid more because of their experience. Other people agree that the tenure system in public schools
should be eliminated to keep teachers working hard to improve their knowledge, teaching skills,
and responsiveness. In order to improve the quality of the education, performance should be more
important than length of service; therefore, the tenure system in public schools should be eliminated.
The tenure system should be eliminated to protect the best teachers. There are many circumstances
that allow ineffective teachers to be kept at the schools because of the tenure system. For example,
many teachers cannot explain concepts clearly or give wrong information to their students while
they are giving their lectures in the classroom, but they are still teaching at the school.
Consequently, according to Jason

An Advertisement For Harley Davidson Insurance
An advertisement for Harley Davidson Insurance is found on page twenty three of the 2015 HOG
magazine Volume 32. In the advertisement a couple is seen standing by their Harley Davidson
motorcycle with the Rocky Mountains behind them in the distance. They are smiling toward each
other with a look that they are enjoying their time together. Atmosphere for the advertisement is
created by the couple appearing to be carefree while out for a ride on their motorcycle. Short
focused word phrases are used in the advertisement to get the reader s attention and help to pull a
person into wanting to buy or look at the product. There are three different layers that can be seen
in the advertisement. Those layers are the background, slogan, and main focus. Jib Fowles reveals
basic appeals to advertising with a list of fifteen different tactics that are used (Fowles). Harley
Davidson Insurance is using an advertisement strategy in their ad to emphasize the need to feel
safe, by providing insurance in a family atmosphere. The background paints the picture and the
scenery for the advertisement. There are mountains in the distance that resemble the Rocky
Mountains. Before the mountains begin to go to the top there is the woodland level with countless
numbers of trees. The mountains have snow on the tops and are vaguely seen through the light
clouds in the sky. The advertisement is in black and white, which shows that everything is calm and
safe. Nothing is disturbed and the couple are

Reflection Of Personal Branding
After speaking with Christina on the phone, I learned how she experienced the summer
Management program during her undergrad as an English major at WFU. She was an English
major and did not know specifically what she wanted to do immediately after graduation. After
applying to a couple jobs, she received feedback from a stranger who happened to be a fellow
WFU alum. This individual did not think Christina would get a job at her company, but offered
to spread her resume around. Christina was extremely grateful for the kindness the other lady
gave her, and she eventually landed a role as part of a production company for her first job.
Christina learned of her current employer, Compass Professional Health Services, through a
roommate who was a former employee of the company. She encouraged Christina to apply for the
open positions, which she later did via Handshake. Hearing about her experience during the
application and interview cycle(s) were great for me to see how the job market functions for this
particular company. One of the things that caught my attention after Christina was offered and
accepted a position at Compass was the training time prior to officially starting. The amount of
preparation before, and then observing and learningfrom others at work was a great example for me
to listen and visualize while thinking of the points discussed in Personal Branding. A point during
our practice reviewing resumes was that companies are particular with new hires, because

Road Traffic Congestion in Singapore Essay
Straddling Bus (SB)
Current situation
Road traffic congestion is a major problem in Singapore and it results in delays in the transport
system such as buses not reaching their destinations on their scheduled time. Because of that, it also
results in commuters not getting to their destinations on time even though they already take the
shortest route to their destinations. Although the governmental organisations are putting in effort to
deal with transport capacity, the majority of the citizens are demanding for more efficient
performance on travel time.
Otherwise, road users may face additional traffic jam conditions that affect their value of time.

Hydrochloric Acid Test Lab Report
The effectiveness of commercial antacids to neutralize acid
Introduction The human stomach contains gastric juices with a pH between 1.5 and 3.5 when
these highly acidic juices rise into the less acidic lower esophagus pain and discomfort can occur
(Exploring Biology in the Laboratory). There are many commercial antacids on the market that
claim to relieve the pain more effectively than their competitors. All these antacids, however, should
work in a similar manner to neutralize the excess hydrogen ions from the stomach that are causing
the discomfort (Exploring Biology in the Laboratory). Tums and Alka Seltzer are two popular
antacids on the market, each containing different active ingredients. Tums contains 500 mg of
Calcium Carbonate while Alka Seltzer lists three active ingredients on their bottle, 325 mg of
Aspirin, 100 mg Citric acid, and 1916 mg of Sodium Bicarbonate. It could be hypothesized that
Alka Seltzer will neutralize the most acid because it contains three active ingredients instead of just

Definitions Of Cultural Beliefs
Cultural expressions are a way that a person can identify who they are. It is a way for other
people to get to know that individual personally. I begin with talking about three cultural
expressions that identify who I am. I will talk about each expression individually and explain the
importance meaning they each have in my life. I will talk about how each expression defines
me and my beliefs. I will conclude with what people might think or assume that my cultural
expressions say about me. I begin with my first cultural expression. When I was growing up and
I would go visit at my dad s house my Aunt Lupe would always have a candle burning on the
stove. It is one of those candles that you can buy at the grocery or dollar store. The candle has
Jesus or the Virgin Mary also known as (La Virgin De Guadalupe) on them usually or some
religious figure and they also have prayer on them. Some come in English and some in Spanish.
I would always wonder way my Aunt always had a candle burning all day long. I knew she was
very religious and catholic but I never understood the candle. One day I decided to ask my Aunt
what the candle burning meant. My Aunt told me that it keeps us safe and cleanses the house of
any evil. From that day on I always believed that my Aunt premonitions were true and that if I
keep a candle burning I would always be safe in my home. My Aunt always made me feel safe

Geography of Bliss
The Geography of Bliss
In 2008 Eric Weiner wrote and published the book The Geography of Bliss, one grump s search
for the happiest places in the world. This paper describes Mr. Weiner s search for happiness over
the course of a year, traveling through ten very different countries, including our own land America.
His search has sent him through the darkest corners of the world to the brightest and busiest places
of all. Places that possess, in spades, one or more of the ingredients that we consider essential to the
hearty stew of happiness: money, pleasure, spirituality, family, and chocolate, among others (pg. 2).

In harsh climates, we need each other. Weiner observed that there did not seem to be much envy
in Iceland, everyone seems to be an artist of some kind, and the relationship Icelanders have with
their language and the joy they get from it. They also loved their large quantities of alcohol but
only on the weekends. It is difficult to argue with such sturdy, Nordic logic (pg.145). Iceland, can
obtain national bliss easier than huge countries such as the U.S. It seems like people have more
trust in each other therefore peace and happiness and sometimes drunkenness, is able to run wild
without a care in the world.
Weiner decided to visit and experience the most miserable place of all time, Moldova. Moldova
compares themselves to the richer countries even though they have absolutely no wealth. They
also had no nationalism to fall back on after the Russian empire collapsed. The people are neither
Russian nor Moldovan. They exist in a nether world of no identity or culture. How can you feel
good about yourself if you don t know who you are? There seems to be a lack of regard for trust
and friendship in Moldova and proves that if you have no culture and no community then you will
become hopeless. Their unhappiness breeds mistrust, which breeds more unhappiness, which leads
to more mistrust. (Pg. 211). Happiness is definitely somewhere else and probably in their vegetables
and their fruit since that s the only good thing about that country.

The Ninety Five Theses Summary
What are the ninety five theses? The ninety five theses was created by Martin Luther. The ninety
five theses was written about the things Martin Luther didn t like about the church. He wrote it in
1515. Three things he did not like about the church was power of the pope, purgatory, and
indulgence.
He did not like the power of pope because he could make anyone do anything he wanted for him.
If you made him mad he could say pay a 100 dollars or you ain t going to heaven. Another thing he
didn t like was purgatory. Purgatory is the place between heaven and hell. Indulgencewas abused
during the middle ages. Indulgence is like a punishment the pope gave you.

The first two these stated that faith and repentance is the way to get salvation not good deeds and
money. The other ninety three supported the first two theses. These ninety five these were quickly
spread through Europe and ended up in in rome. The ninety five theses was later known as the
foundation of the protestant reformation.
Martin Luther is one of the most important author/monk in history. He taught that the bible was
the source of central teachings. He taught that salvation is achieved by faith and not good

My Favorite Holiday Is Christmas
In my birth story there is nothing really to it unless you count me just being born. I asked my
mom, but, she said nothing really happened. But, one thing that she said was that she was
craving some foods like burgers and red cream soda and some other stuff. But after months and
months I was delivered at Good Samaritan Hospital and weighed 7lbs 12.8oz. She always had a
name in mind for me, and it was Jackson because, she loved the name and it meant God has been
Gracious. Do you know your favorite holiday because I know mine. Mine is Christmas because
that s when you get presents and celebrate the life of Jesus. But it only happens once a year, which
sucks. But, another good thing is we get 2 weeks off of school for it. And maybe some snow days
around that time too. One other reason is I like to spend time with my family. My family gets a
live tree every year and the tree fills the house with the smell of it. But Christmas is not my only
favorite thing I also like a sport too. And it is soccer. My main reason I like it is because it has a lot
of sprinting. Also, I like to move stuff with my feet. I also like to watch the sport to see how I
could get better. I think I m good at soccer because many people have told me I am really good. On
weekends when I have a lot of games I like it because I get to play the whole game. When I get to
high school, I will enjoy playing soccer for the high school. The reason I like to use my feet is
because I have good coordination skills.

Kramer Vs Framer Essay
Upon reviewing the film Kramer VS. Kramer, I will provide a brief summary and cover Semantic
interference, Psychological interferences, and Selective listening.
The movie Framer VS. Framer is about a couple going through a divorce affecting their son
named Billy. The mother Joanna Kramer leaves her husband and son for her well being. Ted
Kramer is then forced to raise his son with a little help from another friend who is also a single
parent named Margaret. Ted later has to cope with obstacles, but maintains a stronger relationship
with his son.
First let s look at Semantic interference. The words you choose (Understanding Human
Communication). Throughout the movie Ted had to pick his words wisely whenever Billy would
ask a question about his mother. This is because even though Joanna and Ted were split up she was
still Billy s mother. Another example of Semantic interferences in the movie Kramer VS. Kramer
was when Joanna wanted her son back, Ted and Joanna had to go to court which means they had
to pick there words wisely weather if they were appropriate for parenting Billy. Another example is
when Ted is talking on the phone to Joanna s friend named Margaret talking about Joanna leaving

Thus Douglas Charles Kane sets forth the inspiration for his meticulous review of the origin of the
text Christopher Tolkien presented in 1977 as The Silmarillion. I confess that I myself belonged to
the second group, until the publication of The History of Middle earth volumes revealed the extent
of the evolution of the Legendarium. Christopher has presented that evolution roughly in a
chronological format, with The Book of Lost Tales containing Tolkien s earliest writings and The
War of the Jewels the latest concerning the tales of The Silmarillion. Anyone interested in following
the development of a single tale, therefore, must work through portions of multiple volumes. Kane,
who calls The Silmarillion arguably his most important work (23), set out to show how
Christopher, with the assistant of Guy Gavriel Kay, put together what has become the settled text
of The Silmarillion. Kane proceeds through The Silmarillion chapter by chapter, showing the
source within The History of Middle earth for each paragraph. [Additionally, he referred rarely to
Unfinished Tales, The Children of HГєrin, and, in at least one instance, Tolkien s letters (25).] Each
chapter of Kane s book contains a table detailing his findings. For example, for Chapter 13 Of the
Return of the Noldor, paragraph 1 was taken from the later Quenya paragraph 88,... Show more

Not only do we lose a fuller understanding of two female characters, we lose insight into Tolkien s
thoughts about Elven death. Kane posits that Christopher was concerned about the book s length,
but nevertheless considers this choice in particular to be a great loss to The

Analysis Of The Article Western Hemisphere
Original Story: Western Hemisphere, October 1, 2015:
Oregon Shooting at Umpqua College On October 1, 2015, a tragic and senseless shooting occurred
in Oregon at Umpqua Community College that led to the death of eight students and one assistant
professor (Vanderhart). Immediately following the shooting, the all too familiar flurry of promises
and apologies crowded the air alongside the sorrow and mourning that came to fruition. Berating the
attacker, politicians mentioned how this behavior would not be tolerated and needed to be stopped.
Somehow this has become routine, President Obama said on the shootings. The reporting is

Considering that the United States has an extremely high number of firearms per capita and very
flimsy gun laws, these statistics cannot be said to exist without reason (Sanders). Even worse is
that the problem has only exacerbated in current years, continuing a trend that has insidiously
been creeping up on the United States. As indicated in Figure 1, an analysis from the Harvard
School of Public Health and Northeastern University showed that the average time between a
shooting from 2011 2014 was approximately two hundred days. Similarly, the average between
2011 and 2014 was just a measly sixty four days (Chalabi). Even more surprising is that amongst
all the raucous, the general sentiment towards guns in the U.S. has become largely pro ownership.
Google Trends, which is a product of Google Inc., shows how often a particular search phrase is
input compared to the total search volume across numerous regions across the planet. Its results
indicate that over the years, sentiment has shifted from gun control to ownership (Google). Perhaps
the reason for this shift is an indicator of patience running out for certain politicians that have sworn
to increase safety by taking guns from the hands

Dance Me Outside Essay example
The video, Dance Me Outside , did a great job of portraying the gross disregard for a Native
American s life in the case of Little Margaret as well as the biases within the judicial system and
restorative justice. The director also emphasizes how Native American s take care of their own in
many instances throughout the film. In the video, a Native American girl, Little Margaret is
murdered after a night out at the bar. Little Margaret s body was carelessly tossed next to the river
where two of the main characters, Silas and Frank, find her. The two are stunned with how
recklessly someone just left her. Clearly, this murderwas not treated with equal justice because the
murderer, Clarence, a white man only spent a small amount... Show more content on

Through these situations, they speak very little about the consequences and take action to do
what needs to be done. The plans were set in place and the parts were played by each Native
American, from getting Illiana pregnant by Gooch, her ex boyfriend, to taking her white
husband out and distracting him to make the plan work as well as the group carrying out a plan
to kill Clarence for the murder of Little Margaret. Intuitively, the night that the group of Native
American men were going to revenge Little Margaret s death and kill Clarence, the Native
American women were so in tune with what was happening even though there were not a part of
the planning that one of the Native American women, Sadie, Silas girlfriend, takes it upon
herself to kill Clarence before Silas does because she knows that if Silas kills Clarence, he will
not be able to fulfill his dreams of becoming a mechanic and would spend his life in jail. She
knew that if she killed him, she would not be a suspect and Silas would have an alibi. Upon
Clarence s murder, the entire group of Native American friends was taken to the police station for
questioning. During their time at the police station, the white officers degraded them and made
them feel less than human. They were made to strip down to their boxer shorts and were treated
poorly because they were Native American. Fortunately for

Time Machine Hg Wells
The Time Machine by H. G. Wells
Herbert George Wells was born an English writer in Bromley, Kent, England in 1866. After he
attended school his early years he was educated at Midhurst Grammar School and soon after he
attended the School of Science in London. Once there he studied biology, which could be one
reason why he started to write science fiction novels such as, The Time Machine. Around the time
he wrote this work, there was a huge shift of technological breakthroughs that would have
influenced his writing also. At that time, from his schooling at the School of Science in London,
he would have been exposed to the works of Jules Verne, (20,000 Leagues under the sea), T. H.

The Time Machine makes one think that most theories of the far future are of an advanced
society that has advanced technology with no fear of health problems. But this book allows a
new glimpse of what can become of such advancements where the existence of humankind could
almost have a circular pattern of events. The author shows the readers that their may be a certain
cliff were all of society starts over which apparently has happened with the Eloi and Morlocks.
One example of this was in the world of the Eloi the museums were all in ruins, where they didn t
seem to take much notice of how they came to be or on preserving their history.
In an article on the theme of the time machine, they believe there is a constant class struggle that
is continuous through time but in time it leads to communism. But then they come to think that
society will just become one that is composed of have and have nots. Even in the names of the two
species we can notice discrepancies. The word Eloi itself sounds like the word elite, describing a
rich, elite being, while Morlocks is a seemingly perfect word to describe a brutish, ape like

Essay on The Foundation of the Netherlands
The Foundation of the Netherlands
About twenty percent of the area of the Netherlands and twenty one percent of its population is
located below sea level, and fifty percent of its land lies less than one meter above sea level
(Molenaar) This makes the Netherlands out of all the countries in the world the land with the most
land below sea level. The Netherlands currently has more than seventeen thousand kilometers of
flood defenses (Molenaar) Dikes were the foundation of the Netherlands because they made the
Netherlands grow, well known, and made them a pro at building them, but the dikes also wounded
the Netherlands.
There have not always been dikes in the Netherlands. Before there were dikes, the lower lands used
to overflow at high tide. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beginning in the late 1920s and continuing for the rest of the century, polders on Lake IJssel were
enclosed and then drained (Rochon). Former fishing ports have now become inland towns; on the
polder, cows wander among the remnants of shipwrecks as they graze on reclaimed meadow.
The most famous legend about dikes was the legend of the brave Hansje Brinker. It was actually
a literary invention by the American writer Mary Elizabeth Mapes Dodge and goes like this: On
an autumn afternoon eight year old Hansje set off to visit a friend who lived out in the country
on the other side of the dike. Walking along the canal on his way home, Hansje heard the sound
of trickling water. He looked up and saw a small hole in the dike and watched a tiny stream of
water flowing out of it. Quickly Hansje inserted his chubby finger in the hole and the flow of
water stopped. All night he plugged the hole in the dike, numb with cold and fear. At daybreak,
a clergyman walked along the top of the dike and saw Hansje. He quickly summoned help. So
did Hansje prevent a disastrous flood (Brouwer). The dikes were very useful in World War Two.
Most of the time the dikes were not strong enough for the heavy tanks of the Germans. On October
3, 1944, the RAF (royal air force) bombed the dikes on Walcheren Island, isolating the German units
there by flooding them (Goddard). This would eliminate their ability to move around the island

Individualism Vs Collectivism
When introduced to the concept of individualism, it is obvious by the name collectivism would
be the polar opposite of such a philosophy. Collectivism is essentially the concept people should
be viewed as a collective rather than individuals, hence the name. Collectivism is the root of
what most citizens deem to be a corrupt government. The idea can be summed up in Black
Sabbath s song War Pigs, in which lead singer John Ozzy Osbourne exclaims in reference to the
government, treating people just like pawns in chess . Governments opting to go the route of a
collective view of their population tend to be indifferent to the struggles of their people, often
seeing them as ants, or as Geezer Butler (Sabbath s main lyricist) puts it, pawns in chess.
Whereas a nation would be viewed as millions, or perhaps billions, of individuals according to
individualism, they are seen as possessing one collective body in the case of collectivism.
Citizens are no more than statistics on a page (or in today s case, on a screen) to the governing
bodies conforming to collectivism, and as such are no longer human beings whose feelings and
opinions matter. Rather that accepting a mob rules mentality, these governments choose to
manipulate the people to be the collective they want them to be. A worthy modern example would
be North Korea, in which Kim Jong Un sees his people as a wave of biological matter. North
Koreans are forced to wear certain clothes, have certain haircuts, and essentially

The Two X Linked Inheritence
X Linked Inheritence
The topic which is assogned to me is X linked inhertance that is a pattern of inheritance in which
the spread of traits differentiate according to the sex of the individual because the genes which are
present on the X chromosome have no counterparts on the Y chromosome. The inheritance pattern
can be recessive or dominant. The trait firm by a gene on the X chromosome is always expressed in
males.Because we know that males only d have one X chrmosome whichever the disease related to
it will express itself in the individual. Transmission from father to son does not occur. There are
two Kinds of X linked inheritance are X linked dominant inheritance and X linked recessive
inheritance.
1 X Linked Recessive Inheritance
Now lets us we some breif explanation of X linked recessive inheritance. it is a mode of inheritance
in which a mutation in a gene on the X chromosome causes the phenotype to be articulated in males
(who are necessarily hemizygous for the gene mutation because they have only one X chromosome)
and in females who are homozygous for the gene mutation (i.e., they have a duplicate of the gene
mutation on both of their two X chromosomes).
X linked inheritance can be expressed as the means that the gene causing the trait or the disorder is
present on the X chromosome. Females have two X chromosomes while males have one X and one
Y chromosome. Carrier females who contain simply one replica of the mutation do not typically
state the phenotype though

after a spell the memorials will became smudgy and it will be disrespectful to the victims, and
most importantly, those memorials can be the cause of the accidents ( The Side 201 203). After I

A Visit At The Bakersfield College Essay
A visit that I would like to discuss was with my 21 years old Native American female and her

because he was in the NICU after birth to rule out sepsis and also to check how the mother was
doing after the birth of her first child. She lives in her parent s house with her siblings and

experience the conditions related to poor living conditions such as tuberculosis, malnourishment,

highest ranking health problems seen in Native American children are SIDS, congenital anomalies,
obesity, type II diabetes, and morbidity and mortality related to injuries (Allender et al., 2014).
Poor hygiene, packed housing conditions, and low immunization leads to the incidence of a variety
of contagious diseases in Native Americans (Allender et al., 2014). Native Americans prefer

The Underachievement Of Male And Female Education
The underachievement of males in society has been a growing problem that is being widely
ignored by society. Children are experiencing the most important and emotional part of their lives
when they are in school that will leave ever lasting effects. The success of people as students are
not real indicators of how they will do later in life, but it is the confidence and self esteem that
people will remember in their school days that might stay with adults until they realize that it is
keeping them down or until death. Stereotypes, lack of male role models, more feminized school
system, and combining this all together to find the underlying problem of the female majority who
are succeeding, graduating, and are accepted more often than males. These are the main issues to
figure out when it comes to the imbalance of male and female education. Male Underachievement
in Education Introduction In recent years, female achievement in the education system has grown
very strong, but in its place, male achievement in education has plummeted. Due to male
stereotypes, lack of male role models in school and at home along with the adoption of more
feminized school places and practices, males are no longer being challenged to take risks and freely
engage in critical thinking skills to be able to succeed as much as females in the current educational
system. Since the recent uprising of the feminist movement, the fact that females are faring better

Amalgam Research Paper
I am writing my paper on amalgam history in dentistry. Amalgam was developed in England and
France it consisted of silver, tin, copper, zinc, and mercury. It was not openly embraced by
organized dentistry in America until the 1840s. The Crawcour brothers brought amalgam into the
United States in 1833. Half of the people with dental restorations in upstate New York consisted of
amalgamin 1844. The American Society of Dental Surgeons made all of the members to sign a
pledge that restricted them from using mercury fillings, because at the time it was considered to be
malpractice. That created the first dental amalgam war, but it ended in 1856 with cancelation of the
association.
In 1859 the American Dental Association (ADA) was founded and took the place of the American
Society of Dental Surgeons. The ADA strongly defended amalgam from the allegations of being too
risky from the health standpoint. In 1930 the ratio of the mercury to the remaining metallic mixture
was sixty six to thirty three. Conventional amalgams (gamma 2) has thirty two percent silver and
fourteen percent tin due to the low copper content they are most susceptible to corrosion. Non

The Anishinabe Way
During the eighteenth century the fur trade, requiring the natives to seek furs in the hinterland,
changed the Anishinabe way of living. Evidence shows that before the trade, small bands net fished
along the Georgian Bay islands and coast with some winter hunting and ice fishing along the rivers
but not any substantial stays on the inland lakes. After the trade with the Europeans a new
Anishinabe way emerged.
The annual routine, developed over many generations for
Anishinabe, would start with each family requesting, from their local chief perhaps on a visit to
Parry Island, as to which lake area they would use. Although these fall meetings ostensibly were to
get permission, it was largely more of a confirmation of which land the family traditionally
worked. It was like a permanent lease for the concept of ownership was foreign. Once the formality

from the 1600s compelled firstly by the fur trade and later as treaties were signed in the mid to late

The Power of Music in James Baldwin s Sonny s Blues Essay
The Power of Music in James Baldwin s Sonny s Blues
At first glance, Sonny s Blues seems ambiguous about the relationship between music and drugs.
After all, the worlds of jazz and drug addiction are historically intertwined; it could be possible
that Sonny s passion for jazz is merely an excuse for his lifestyle and addiction, as the narrator
believes for a time. Or perhaps the world that Sonny has entered by becoming involved in jazz is
the danger if he had not encountered jazz he wouldn t have encountered drugs either. But the clues
given by the portrayals of music and what it does for other figures in the story demonstrate music s
beneficial nature; music and drugs are not interdependent for Sonny. By studying the ... Show more

The battered barmaid also needs music to insulate her from the perils of her life. She dances to
something black and bouncy playing on the jukebox, keeps time, smiling, and when she smiles
the reader can see both the innocent and joyous little girl she will always be and the woman still
struggling for life and dignity, even though these two personalities are hidden underneath the
face of a semi whore (412). She is quicksilver when the music plays; there is still life in her that
can be coaxed to the surface. She watches the jukebox in the pause between songs, waiting for the
music to begin again, to renew her life and energy and hope. Music reveals this woman as she
really is, not as she has become, not as her environment has made her. Just as it is for the whistling
schoolboy, music for this woman is a small salvation.
Many more moments like these are worked into the story. The mother hums a hymn under her
breath; it comforts her while she watches for Sonny, who is out on the streets (419). The narrator
whistles to keep from crying after Sonny refuses his attempts at reconciliation (428). These bits of
music are tiny but significant; small musics performed by non musicians demonstrate how music
creates good feelings. The mother may be singing off key and the narrator probably whistles flat,
but because of their nature as song these tunes are suffused with bits of happiness, and by making
the music, the

The physical and psychological toll that this act has on its victims is as incalculable as it is

Proximate causes refer to the immediate event that produce a behaviour or some other phenotypic
trait, including genes, hormones and environmental stimuli. They refer to how such developmental
or physiological mechanisms cause something to happen, but they do not explain why they happen
(Thornhill R., Palmer C., 2000). Ultimate causation refers to why behaviours happen, under what
evolutionary pressures of genetic selection the behaviours evolved. It is important to note that
these adapted for traits or behaviours do not necessarily mean that they are something that we
consider to be moral or desirable, but they were good in the terms of natural selection. There is no
connection between what is biological or naturally selected and what is morally right or wrong
(Thornhill R., Palmer C., 2000). People are driven by proximal influences, but these influences may
have been shaped by ultimate causes (Bennell et al., 2011). They are complements to each other,
not alternatives. What is not understood is if the evolutionary cause of human rape is a result of rape
specific adaption or a by product of other adaptions (Thornhill R., Palmer C., 2000).

Why Is The Nurse Important In Romeo And Juliet
1 Romeo and Juliet From William Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet is the most famous love story in
the English literary tradition. The most important theme is love, specifically, love at first sight
between Romeo and Juliet. I chose to write about the Nurse because she is the personal servant,
guardian and former wet nurse of Juliet Capulet, and has been with Juliet since she was born. This
character played a strong part in allowing Romeo and Juliet s relationship to grow and their
passion to become stronger because she sends the letters to Romeo and helped them arrange their
secret marriage. She also affected the tragic ending because she did not intervene when Juliet was to
marry Paris. Because of the fight between the Capulets and the Montagues,... Show more content on

Juliet s nurse is her confidante, she tells her that she is in love with Romeo, and has her meet
with him to get information on their secret marriage. Thanks to her, Romeo and Juliet got
married. She and Friar Lawrence were the only people that knew all the details of this
relationship. Hie you to church. I must another way, To fetch a ladder, by the which your love
Must climb a bird s nest soon when it is dark I am the drudge and toil in your delight, But you
shall bear the burden soon at night. The Nurse is saying that she could get a ladder, so Romeo
can climb and they can spend their wedding night together. Later in the story, it is the Nurse who
gives Juliet the tragic news about Romeo s banishment. Atthe same time, Lord Capulet decides it
is time for Juliet to marry Paris. Rather than supporting and understanding that Juliet doesn t want
to marry him, the Nurse advises Juliet to forget Romeo and marry Paris. I think it is best you
married with the County O, he s a lovely gentleman. Romeo s a dishclout to him . Juliet felt
betrayed and turned to Friar Lawrence for help. She no longer shared her plans with the Nurse
because if she had, Romeo wouldn t have killed himself. In conclusion, the Nurse was a very
important character in this tragic love

The Nba Player s Association
Professional sports have been a passing time in our generation and more importantly a business.
Over the years sports have gained millions of viewers and fans. Sports arenas and stadiums seats
have been sold as a result millions of dollars have been made through professional sports. Before
social media and mass media shined light to life as a professional athlete, we were unaware of
exactly what went on behind the curtains between the athletes and the organization that they
played for. Despite the fact that athletes can earn a lot of money at the highest level, they also
experience bad work conditions, dissatisfied with how they are treated, unreasonable pay and
benefits, and the organization not being interested in their well being. According to an article by
Andrew Flint, The NBA Player s Association was founded in 1954 with Bob Cousy of the Boston
Celtics as the first president. It wasn t recognized by the owners until 1964 when the players
threatened to boycott the first televised All Star Game (Flint, 2013). The NBA labor union was
created because prior to the union players in the NBA received no pensions, no healthcare, no pier
Diem, no minimum wage, and an average salary of $8,000 (Flint, 2013). In the NBA specifically
unions still exist for the players that are not superstars that need representation when they are
mistreated by the NBA. Unionization offers employees a method for countering employers powers
to unilaterally change employment conditions.

I believe that even strangers whom you communicate with for a short period of time can sense
your emotional literacy if they form an impression on how interesting, pleasant, or easy you are to
talk to. Someone with a poor sense of emotional literacy will give off the wrong first impression.
These are the times when some strangers don t share my emotional literacy if they are rude or
socially awkward.
The group of people whom I share my acting and singing literacies are my performing arts teachers,
and the talented individuals whom I worked with, and lastly, my choir and theatre groups. They are
emotional, artistic, sensitive, understanding, but also competitive, and tough.
The groups of people I share my visual art literacy are my art teachers. I share my technology
literacy with my family and friends who have technology literacy, and most importantly my
computer teachers who taught me the various computer skills I learned growing up. I also share
my digital art literacy with various Instagram

Steroids And Baseball The Ultimate Strike-Out Research Paper
Steroids and Baseball: The Ultimate Strike Out
For as long as sports have been around, countless numbers of athletes have been driven towards
being the best, and doing whatever it takes to become successful. As sports become more
competitive, many athletes strive to find a way to improve their strengths and abilities. One
possible solution to the problem, is with the help of performance enhancing drugs (PEDs), also
known as steroids. Steroids first came to flourishing in Major League Baseball (MLB) in the 1970s,
when Tom House a former pitcher in (MLB) openly recognizing that there were multiple players
per team experimenting with steroids and human growth hormones. During the 1900s steroids
quickly became much more excessive and widespread, according to Juicin in The Majors: A
History of steroids in baseball written by Joshua Z. Lavine February, 2013. By the 1990s, steroids
had become an epidemic....Rick Helling, a pitcher for the Texas Rangers and a player
representative, stood up at the winter meeting of the Executive Board of the Major League Baseball
Players Association and reported this problem... Despite the pitchers cry and plea for awareness of
the problem, he was ignored. Eventually the statistical evidence on the issue had come full force
and much too strong to ignore. During the 1990s 2001 multiple players had hit sixty or ... Show

Crisis Chapter Summary
1.How is the work of Edward T. Hall important in understanding more about people who may be
in a crisis? Often when people respond to a crisis they have good intentions but their actions
might be misconstrued. Mr. Hall s first two examples are those actions taken by others that were
viewed as other than what message they were intended to convey. The third example was a lesson
in personal space and how culturally the distance varies between people. All the examples in the
book were misunderstands experienced by two people of different cultures. Mr. Hall was indicating
that one must be aware of body language when communicating with others, it is also helpful to
learn about different cultures before going to or dealing with others in or from... Show more content

Give an example to show how a person who is assisting another can form a nexis with a person
in crisis? Why is forming a nexus important? A nexis can be formed when someone can relate to
a situation or feelings created by a crisis due to having experienced a similar situation. Someone
may have just lost a job due to family problems, this loss of income and potential emotional
stress may cause depression, fatigue and financial hardship. A friend or other family member can
provide the nexis of having experienced the same hardship and may be able to provide
encouragement, assist with either helping the person that has lost a job search for employment or
provide assistance in coping with the ill family member. Forming a nexis with a person in crisis
helps form or build upon rapport. 3.How can a person who is helping another build rapport with a
person in need of assistance? Why is this important? The person giving assistance should listen to
the other person s problems and allow them an opportunity to come to grips with their situation.
Common ground needs to be established between the two parties. Building rapport can be
facilitated by showing empathy and understanding of the individuals plight. It is important because
without rapport you may never discover what is really bothering the other person. Without having
established rapport, the other person will be less likely to take any

  • 2. 18th Amendment Pros And Cons 3rd Housing soldiers was a common practice militaries used for shelter. It was a form of home invasion by the government, and prohibiting this gave citizens more sense of security to their property, and not involving them in the war which they aren t fighting. Although, the only time that soldiers need housing is when we mobilize soldiers, otherwise they should be at bases. As much as this was relevant in the 1800 s, we haven t had a need to use civilian s homes for military purposes. There isn t much to say about this amendment anymore. 18th I know lots of other students see this amendment flawed simply because you can t ban alcohol, then maybe even lead that into some fabricated argument about marijuana because this is Arapahoe. Prohibition isn t some type of morality issue to me, nor supporting it as a device to make you righteous. That being said, I find the presents of alcohol and other feel good drugs in our first world useless. I repeatedly see articles saying how the 18th amendment has done more harm than good, but the level of damages caused by alcohol s influence unprsidenly sets that harm to shame and the ideology of the amendment is the only good. I can go on and on about how pathetic I find people who abuse and rely on its effects, but I will spare you the bantering of my thinks he s always right teenager opinion. I dislike this amendment not because I disagreed with it, but because it failed and will forever be an argument against any future law regarding the usage of alcohol and other recreational drugs. 21st... Current studies have shown a direct correlation between aggressive conduct and watching violence depicted in many media services and suggest that media is a variable that put children at risk of aggressive behavior (Huesmann, Moise Titus, Podolski, Eron, 1992). According to the American Psychological Association, watching playing violent scenes them on games and television, can desensitize children to the suffering and pain of others and may be a greater risk of acting aggressively toward others and they re less bothered by violencein general and less likely to see anything wrong with it. Many argue that media violence is at least partly to blame for the school shootings in Littleton, Colorado, Taber, Alberta and Erfurt, Germany. Proponents of the idea that violence depicted on both television and video games affects the behavior of children state that, contrary to other beliefs, these scenes teach a higher sense of the justification of the use of violence in different situations (Tompkins, 2003). It teaches that violence is a correct avenue to solve differences, which is not an acceptable action within real life situations. The classic setting of using violence for a virtuous cause may interpret in daily life into a validation for using violence to even the score against supposed victimizers. Consequently, defenseless youth who have been maltreated may be tempted to use aggressive means to resolve problems. The hero in most of these scenes also teaches them that violence has no consequences because he /she never gets in trouble for their actions. Most psychologists agree that experiences teach children during their early years and have a longstanding effect on their lives. Toddlers between the ages of eighteen to sixteen months are intelligent enough to comprehend the significance of the programs (Tompkins, 2003) that they watch and respond in the same manner to both actual and acted violence since their link between dream and actuality is still not strong. • 9. The Importance Of The Tenure System In Education The best teachers bring out their students knowledge. A good teacher makes students more interested in their lectures. However, these teachers sometimes get fired because they are hired later than the other teachers who have been working for a longer period of time. This is due to the Tenure System that keeps teachers from being fired when they teach at a schoolfor a certain amount of time. Therefore, should the tenuresystem in public schools be eliminated? Some argue that tenure protects teachers from unfair dismissal; for instance, when teaching unpopular ideas. Also, it would be unfair to fire teachers in order to save expense, due to the fact that older teachers get paid more because of their experience. Other people agree that the tenure system in public schools should be eliminated to keep teachers working hard to improve their knowledge, teaching skills, and responsiveness. In order to improve the quality of the education, performance should be more important than length of service; therefore, the tenure system in public schools should be eliminated. The tenure system should be eliminated to protect the best teachers. There are many circumstances that allow ineffective teachers to be kept at the schools because of the tenure system. For example, many teachers cannot explain concepts clearly or give wrong information to their students while they are giving their lectures in the classroom, but they are still teaching at the school. Christina learned of her current employer, Compass Professional Health Services, through a roommate who was a former employee of the company. She encouraged Christina to apply for the open positions, which she later did via Handshake. Hearing about her experience during the application and interview cycle(s) were great for me to see how the job market functions for this particular company. One of the things that caught my attention after Christina was offered and accepted a position at Compass was the training time prior to officially starting. Mine is Christmas because that s when you get presents and celebrate the life of Jesus. But it only happens once a year, which sucks. But, another good thing is we get 2 weeks off of school for it. But Christmas is not my only favorite thing I also like a sport too. And it is soccer. My main reason I like it is because it has a lot of sprinting. Also, I like to move stuff with my feet. I also like to watch the sport to see how I could get better. I think I m good at soccer because many people have told me I am really good. • 20. Kramer Vs Framer Essay Upon reviewing the film Kramer VS. Kramer, I will provide a brief summary and cover Semantic interference, Psychological interferences, and Selective listening. The movie Framer VS. Framer is about a couple going through a divorce affecting their son named Billy. The mother Joanna Kramer leaves her husband and son for her well being. Ted Kramer is then forced to raise his son with a little help from another friend who is also a single parent named Margaret. Ted later has to cope with obstacles, but maintains a stronger relationship with his son. First let s look at Semantic interference. The words you choose (Understanding Human Communication). Throughout the movie Ted had to pick his words wisely whenever Billy would ask a question about his mother. This is because even though Joanna and Ted were split up she was still Billy s mother. Another example of Semantic interferences in the movie Kramer VS. Kramer was when Joanna wanted her son back, Ted and Joanna had to go to court which means they had to pick there words wisely weather if they were appropriate for parenting Billy. Another example is when Ted is talking on the phone to Joanna s friend named Margaret talking about Joanna leaving him and he states Have you heard what she s done with ... • 21. The Silmarillion Chapter Summary Thus Douglas Charles Kane sets forth the inspiration for his meticulous review of the origin of the text Christopher Tolkien presented in 1977 as The Silmarillion. I confess that I myself belonged to the second group, until the publication of The History of Middle earth volumes revealed the extent of the evolution of the Legendarium. Christopher has presented that evolution roughly in a chronological format, with The Book of Lost Tales containing Tolkien s earliest writings and The War of the Jewels the latest concerning the tales of The Silmarillion. Anyone interested in following the development of a single tale, therefore, must work through portions of multiple volumes. Kane, who calls The Silmarillion arguably his most important work (23), set out to show how Christopher, with the assistant of Guy Gavriel Kay, put together what has become the settled text of The Silmarillion. Kane proceeds through The Silmarillion chapter by chapter, showing the source within The History of Middle earth for each paragraph. [Additionally, he referred rarely to Unfinished Tales, The Children of HГєrin, and, in at least one instance, Tolkien s letters (25).] Each chapter of Kane s book contains a table detailing his findings. For example, for Chapter 13 Of the Return of the Noldor, paragraph 1 was taken from the later Quenya paragraph 88,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Immediately following the shooting, the all too familiar flurry of promises and apologies crowded the air alongside the sorrow and mourning that came to fruition. Considering that the United States has an extremely high number of firearms per capita and very flimsy gun laws, these statistics cannot be said to exist without reason (Sanders). Even worse is that the problem has only exacerbated in current years, continuing a trend that has insidiously been creeping up on the United States. As indicated in Figure 1, an analysis from the Harvard School of Public Health and Northeastern University showed that the average time between a shooting from 2011 2014 was approximately two hundred days. Similarly, the average between 2011 and 2014 was just a measly sixty four days (Chalabi). Even more surprising is that amongst all the raucous, the general sentiment towards guns in the U.S. has become largely pro ownership. Google Trends, which is a product of Google Inc., shows how often a particular search phrase is input compared to the total search volume across numerous regions across the planet. Its results indicate that over the years, sentiment has shifted from gun control to ownership (Google). Former fishing ports have now become inland towns; on the polder, cows wander among the remnants of shipwrecks as they graze on reclaimed meadow. The most famous legend about dikes was the legend of the brave Hansje Brinker. It was actually a literary invention by the American writer Mary Elizabeth Mapes Dodge and goes like this: On an autumn afternoon eight year old Hansje set off to visit a friend who lived out in the country on the other side of the dike. Walking along the canal on his way home, Hansje heard the sound of trickling water. He looked up and saw a small hole in the dike and watched a tiny stream of water flowing out of it. Quickly Hansje inserted his chubby finger in the hole and the flow of water stopped. All night he plugged the hole in the dike, numb with cold and fear. At daybreak, a clergyman walked along the top of the dike and saw Hansje. He quickly summoned help. So did Hansje prevent a disastrous flood (Brouwer). The dikes were very useful in World War Two. Most of the time the dikes were not strong enough for the heavy tanks of the Germans. • 26. Individualism Vs Collectivism When introduced to the concept of individualism, it is obvious by the name collectivism would be the polar opposite of such a philosophy. Collectivism is essentially the concept people should be viewed as a collective rather than individuals, hence the name. Collectivism is the root of what most citizens deem to be a corrupt government. The idea can be summed up in Black Sabbath s song War Pigs, in which lead singer John Ozzy Osbourne exclaims in reference to the government, treating people just like pawns in chess . Governments opting to go the route of a collective view of their population tend to be indifferent to the struggles of their people, often seeing them as ants, or as Geezer Butler (Sabbath s main lyricist) puts it, pawns in chess. Whereas a nation would be viewed as millions, or perhaps billions, of individuals according to individualism, they are seen as possessing one collective body in the case of collectivism. Citizens are no more than statistics on a page (or in today s case, on a screen) to the governing bodies conforming to collectivism, and as such are no longer human beings whose feelings and opinions matter. Rather that accepting a mob rules mentality, these governments choose to manipulate the people to be the collective they want them to be. A worthy modern example would be North Korea, in which Kim Jong Un sees his people as a wave of biological matter. The Two X Linked Inheritence X Linked Inheritence The topic which is assogned to me is X linked inhertance that is a pattern of inheritance in which the spread of traits differentiate according to the sex of the individual because the genes which are present on the X chromosome have no counterparts on the Y chromosome. The inheritance pattern can be recessive or dominant. The trait firm by a gene on the X chromosome is always expressed in males.Because we know that males only d have one X chrmosome whichever the disease related to it will express itself in the individual. Transmission from father to son does not occur. There are two Kinds of X linked inheritance are X linked dominant inheritance and X linked recessive inheritance. 1 X Linked Recessive Inheritance Now lets us we some breif explanation of X linked recessive inheritance. it is a mode of inheritance in which a mutation in a gene on the X chromosome causes the phenotype to be articulated in males (who are necessarily hemizygous for the gene mutation because they have only one X chromosome) and in females who are homozygous for the gene mutation (i.e., they have a duplicate of the gene mutation on both of their two X chromosomes). X linked inheritance can be expressed as the means that the gene causing the trait or the disorder is present on the X chromosome. Females have two X chromosomes while males have one X and one Y chromosome. Carrier females who contain simply one replica of the mutation do not typically state the phenotype though ... Children are experiencing the most important and emotional part of their lives when they are in school that will leave ever lasting effects. The success of people as students are not real indicators of how they will do later in life, but it is the confidence and self esteem that people will remember in their school days that might stay with adults until they realize that it is keeping them down or until death. Stereotypes, lack of male role models, more feminized school system, and combining this all together to find the underlying problem of the female majority who are succeeding, graduating, and are accepted more often than males. These are the main issues to figure out when it comes to the imbalance of male and female education. Male Underachievement in Education Introduction In recent years, female achievement in the education system has grown very strong, but in its place, male achievement in education has plummeted. Due to male stereotypes, lack of male role models in school and at home along with the adoption of more feminized school places and practices, males are no longer being challenged to take risks and freely engage in critical thinking skills to be able to succeed as much as females in the current educational system. It was not openly embraced by organized dentistry in America until the 1840s. The Crawcour brothers brought amalgam into the United States in 1833. Half of the people with dental restorations in upstate New York consisted of amalgamin 1844. The American Society of Dental Surgeons made all of the members to sign a pledge that restricted them from using mercury fillings, because at the time it was considered to be malpractice. That created the first dental amalgam war, but it ended in 1856 with cancelation of the association. In 1859 the American Dental Association (ADA) was founded and took the place of the American Society of Dental Surgeons. The ADA strongly defended amalgam from the allegations of being too risky from the health standpoint. In 1930 the ratio of the mercury to the remaining metallic mixture was sixty six to thirty three. Proximate causes refer to the immediate event that produce a behaviour or some other phenotypic trait, including genes, hormones and environmental stimuli. They refer to how such developmental or physiological mechanisms cause something to happen, but they do not explain why they happen (Thornhill R., Palmer C., 2000). Ultimate causation refers to why behaviours happen, under what evolutionary pressures of genetic selection the behaviours evolved. It is important to note that these adapted for traits or behaviours do not necessarily mean that they are something that we consider to be moral or desirable, but they were good in the terms of natural selection. There is no connection between what is biological or naturally selected and what is morally right or wrong (Thornhill R., Palmer C., 2000). People are driven by proximal influences, but these influences may have been shaped by ultimate causes (Bennell et al., 2011). They are complements to each other, not alternatives. What is not understood is if the evolutionary cause of human rape is a result of rape specific adaption or a by product of other adaptions (Thornhill R., Palmer C., 2000). Sports arenas and stadiums seats have been sold as a result millions of dollars have been made through professional sports. Before social media and mass media shined light to life as a professional athlete, we were unaware of exactly what went on behind the curtains between the athletes and the organization that they played for. Despite the fact that athletes can earn a lot of money at the highest level, they also experience bad work conditions, dissatisfied with how they are treated, unreasonable pay and benefits, and the organization not being interested in their well being. According to an article by Andrew Flint, The NBA Player s Association was founded in 1954 with Bob Cousy of the Boston Celtics as the first president. It wasn t recognized by the owners until 1964 when the players threatened to boycott the first televised All Star Game (Flint, 2013). The NBA labor union was created because prior to the union players in the NBA received no pensions, no healthcare, no pier Diem, no minimum wage, and an average salary of $8,000 (Flint, 2013).
