Watching the Watchmen Essay
Watching the Watchmen While reading Watchmen with the purpose of textual analysis, there are many
different things to consider. Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons took many original approaches to the
typical super hero story when formulating this novel. Watchmen is a story about a group of outlawed
super heroes in New York City. The story lines and backgrounds of particular characters are shown
during the comic, and we see how different these characters are from the stories of typical super
heroes. When trying to closely analyze this text, we could consider context, rhetorical strategies, and
the comparison to the Catholic Intellectual Teaching. When looking at the context of this piece, it is
interesting to think about why Moore and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other ways that irony is used within the comic is more general, like the smiley face with a stain of
blood on it. This image is originally introduced on the first page of the whole novel but is also a
reoccurring image. (1.1). Something that is usually seen as so happy is now tainted with something
considered so dark. Gibbons frequent use of this image may show the corruptness of the superheroes
and the city, or even world, as a whole. Another example of the general irony used within Watchmen is
fighting violence with more violence. A prime character to portray this is Rorschach. His childhood
could be to blame for his crooked ways, but he is always violent in his approaches, even if they are for
a good cause. When Rorschach was trying to save a kidnapped girl, he used violence to try to solve
the problem. Visited underworld bars and began hurting people. Put fourteen in hospital needlessly.
(6.18 25). This is ironic because they are supposed to be superheroes, and saving people. Superheroes
are supposed to take the good way out, but the lines between hero and villain are pretty blurred in this
novel. Irony is a key feature in Watchmen because it lets us see how the author and illustrator wanted
us to view the characters. It portrays how messed up and broken the Watchmen actually are. There are
many ways that you could compare the Catholic Intellectual Teaching to Watchmen.

The Ancient Greek Gods
In Greek mythology, the Greeks had the twelve main Olympian gods that had Thrones on the
Olympian Council. The most important Gods on this Council are the big three; Poseidon, Zeus, and
Hades. The other ten Gods and Goddesses are the ones that are not well known as the big three. The
Ancient Greeks used the big three Gods to explain the weather, ocean, and death work. This paper
describes the stories of the lesser known gods and goddesses. Dionysus Dionysus is the Greek god of
Wine. Dionysus was not a god when he was first created he was a mere mortal demigod which is half
human half god. Dionysus is the son of Zeus and a mortal woman named Semele, she was the
daughter of the king of Thebes (Greek Mythology, n.d.). Dionysus became

in time, it was as if my entire life flashed before my eyes. I realized that one decision would change
the entire course of my life.
From the time I was able grasp the concept of a university and higher educations, the University of
Wisconsin Madison was the only school that I had in mind.
So why is Madison at the top of my list? Ever since I was a child, my mother has always told me to do

Migraine And Coronary Artery Disease Analysis
Migraines rank as the number 7th leading cause of disability worldwide and affects an approximated
14% of the general population. In other words, a migraine is a headache on steroids. It is a primary
headache disorder characterized by recurrent headaches that range anywhere between moderate to
extremely severe. Typically, the symptoms associated with migraines include a pounding sensation in
one half of the head, nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light, smell, and sound. Before a migraine
comes on, approximately one third of people experience what is called a migraine aura. A migraine
aura is typically a short period of time accompanied by visual disturbances and can occur with little to
no headache. When thinking of a migraine the first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The purpose of this study was to determine the genetic overlap between migraine and Coronary Artery

researchers found that the previous findings that CAD and migraine share genetic risk factors. The
gene, PHACTR1, showed significant cross phenotype association in migraine and CAD. The findings
are significant because the results were consistent with present theories that migraine and Coronary

Milo Minderbinder s Personality Disorder In Catch 22
Everybody knows that guy or girl who they believe to be nuts. They may have done something
completely bonkers, or have done nothing unacceptable at all. They may have no cause at all, in a way
it takes one to know one. This is different for Yossarian, where everyone he knows is actually
psychotic. Literally, all the characters in Joseph Heller s Catch 22 are completely mental, Yossarian is
constantly falling in love with people that end up not replicating a mutual feeling, Colonel Cathcart

The Importance Of Organizational Leadership
Throughout the CSU Global Master s of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) program of
study, several aspects of leadership have been presented as a source of information to better
understand leadership functions, practices, challenges, decision making, and effective communication
in the workplace (CSU Global, 2017). Organizational leaders should look beyond standard leadership
practices and be prepared to address and manage organizational problems and assess employees
behavior in a multicultural workplace environment (Schein, 2010). This capstone paper will briefly
address leadership skills learned, practiced, and the approach to further develop current individual
leadership qualities, to be an effective organizational leader moving forward.
Leadership Learned
Effective leadership entails exercising the appropriate leadership style and understanding an
organization s strategy, people, and the environment. In today s competitive environment, leaders not
only have to understand business and the organizational strategy, they should also know how to
strategically manage people. Effective leaders are cognizant of their leadership strengths and
weaknesses, and promote leader team information exchange to better understand team members
strengths and weaknesses. An assessment of the team s capabilities, can have a direct impact on the
organization s overall performance (Kunnanatt, 2016). Nonetheless, it has become clear that there is

Explain How The Romans And Made Up Their Value System
There are three qualities that shaped the world view of the Romans and made up their value system.
These beliefs included: Imperialism, Eclecticism, Practicality. These ideals help in explaining how the
Romans were viewed by the world. Imperialism is the belief that it is acceptable for someone or a
group of someones to enforce their culture and its values on other people, even it if means to do so by
force. This particular belief became the significant value of the Romans, who believed that they were
superior people. Under the idea of imperialism the Romass increased their size by seizing other
countries and forced them to submit to their rule. The Romans were known for conquering their
conquest. The Arch is a product of imperialism.

A Modest Proposal for Euthanasia Essay
A Modest Proposal for Euthanasia
Euthanasia is a controversy that cannot be resolved from a single court ruling or a single person s
opinion. Many proposals have been suggested based on various studies and surveys. In You Say
Murder, I Say Euthanasia, Clair Rayner describes a notable proposal regarding extreme euthanasia
cases. The proposal, which has been put into the Science of Museum forum, recommends complex
cases to be considered individually. In Assisted Suicide Largely Shunned, the anonymous author

It was granted. (Rayner 31) This was a decision that ended the boy s suffering, however it did not
allow doctors to euthanaize and bring about a painless death. Instead, the boy died of dehydration and
starvation and may have felt the effects of it despite being unconscious. In cases such as Tony Bland s,
the proposal would come into play. These cases involve people that require special care and judgment
due to their condition. For the proposal to function properly, there could be no outside pressure from
family and friends; the decision would solely be made by the patient. A psychiatric illness cannot be
present, all medical care would have to be given first, and lastly, the patient would go to a court made
up of medical and legal experts (Rayner 31). In Assisted Suicide Largely Shunned, the author presents
the audience with an informative set of case study that implies the author s extreme opposition to
euthanasia. One surprising fact is that most dying patients today would not choose to be euthanized if
they had that right. About one of ten patients who were terminally ill said they seriously considered
using euthanasia or physician assisted suicide. Fewer than 6 percent said they had seriously discussed

Religious Conflicts in The Song of Roland
The French epic, The Song of Roland, relates the conflicts between Christians and Muslims in 778
A.D. In it, Charlemagne and his men, weary in their seventh year of battle against pagan forces in
Spain, have captured every heathen stronghold but the kingdom of Saragossa, held by the Muslim
king Marsile. Terrified of the might of Charlemagne s army, Marsile promises treasures, hostages and
his conversion to Christianity if the Franks will go back to France. However, Marsile has no intention
of surrendering and wants only for Charlemagne to end his siege of the city and get out of Spain.
Charlemagne does not trust Marsile but nevertheless accepts the proposal despite his nephew, Roland
s, objections. Roland nominates his stepfather, Ganelon, as a messenger to go back to Marsile s court.
Ganelon initially protests but is forced to accept the dangerous commission. He fears that he ll die in
the hands of the bloodthirsty pagans and publicly vows that, As long as I live, I shall have no love for
[Roland] (Song 39). Ganelon has long been jealous of Roland, and on his diplomatic mission he finds
an opportunity for revenge. Ganelon advises Marsile that the only way to make Charlemagne leave
Spain forever is to bring about Roland s death. Roland is Charlemagne s right hand in warfare;
without Roland, the Frankish king would despair and could not hope to conquer Spain. In collusion
with Marsile, Ganelon plots his revenge: he will see to it that Roland is given command of the rear

Refugee Settlement As A Refugee Camp
The displaced populaces in camps are provided with help and security as a feature of the UNHCR s
command and as a partner with the host government to keep them amassed in one region(Kobia and
Cranfield, 2009).
There is always a distinction between urban refugees and camp dwellers when analyzing the
situation. There is also the dilemma of whether to consider establishments such as detention centers or
collective settlements as refugee camps or not.The characteristics of judging or analyzing a camp to be
opened , closed ,semi opened or non existing at all, is also an important factor to put in mind. The
refugees development of their new urban context , their daily movements and their experience within
the space, is what might lead us to comparing a refugee settlement as any urban settlement, rather than
a temporary solution (Dora ̈ı,2010).
2.4.2 The understanding of a refugee camp.
For one to understand the base of camp establishments , One of the key factors is the topic of how the
governmental issues of character converge with the legislative issues of space.Camps far and wide
contrast extraordinarily, and the purposes behind their dissimilarities are to be found in the ways that
the legislative issues of asylum meet with the governmental issues of their basic rights of returning or
resettling as verbalized by outcast populaces(Sanyal, R., 2014).
When analyzing the refugee camp as a form of a city , There are the issues of community organization

Criticism Of Advertising In Advertising
I have found most product advertising to be ridiculous and somewhat laughable. Those in
advertisement have jobs that require them to sell us products and they walk a fine line to entice us to
buy. Sales are the key to success and growth in any organization but should it be at the consumer s
cost? The claims in the advertisements are what sells the product in the end, but many of them leave
out important information and provide us with hyped and over exaggerated claims. Advertising
typically hits a pain spot which pushes people to buy on impulse because they need it and want a
solution to that pain. See, they do their research and know just what to say to make us feel better, want
more, and make our lives much happier. The promises are never ending like the 30 day money back
guarantee that is truly a paradox. After we see these products in advertisement we assume that we can
make good use of them, but how many of these as seen on TV products do you use regularly? Most
products do not measure up to the claims of their advertisements. Let s take any restaurant or fast food
chain s advertising and compare it to what you actually get once you receive your order. My
sandwiches at Subway never looks like what is shown on the television commercial. Instead of
receiving a scrumptious sandwich piled high with meat and vegetables it is more like having to open
the bread to even find meat and vegetables. I think this is your classic bait and switch tactic.

stewardesses tried to intervene, but the men stabbed them with small pocket knives that they had

The remaining passengers watched on helplessly as the hijackers entered the cockpit. The aircraft was

For humans to go faster than they have ever gone before they had to research many different things
spend both money and time to finally reach this goal and this paper will take you through that process
of research done for that goal to be reached. With the possibility of faster flight people will always
want to see how fast they can push the aircraft they design. The development and research that went
into the aircrafts that helped break the sound barrier, took a long time and many people co operation.
But after many years of research and testing with several different types of aircrafts they were able to
succeed in producing an aircraft that could surpass the sound barrier and bring us into a new era of
flight. The ideas on how to get an aircraft up to the speed and the designs of many researcher had to
come together in order for this feat to be accomplished. From the engineering stages of the project to
the research on how the air around the aircraft will react to an object moving through it to at such high
speeds and the equipment that needed to be made that can used during the flight all had to be crated

Friendship By William Shakespeare s The Merchant Of Venice
Friendship is an idea which spans all cultures, but is expressed differently across cultural boundaries.
In William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice, the idea of friendship is critical, not only to the
plot, but also for character development. A friend is, A person with whom one has developed a close
and informal relationship of mutual trust and intimacy; (more generally) a close acquaintance. Often
with adjective indicating the closeness of the relationship, asbest, good, close, etc. (Oxford )
Friendship is the display of trust and intimacy as well as caring for one another. Antonio and Bassanio

for their actions, it is their strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it can be seen that Bassanio does feel guilt over his actions. To you, Antonio, I owe the
most, in money and in love (I, I, 177 178). Bassanio is expressing his remorse over having lived a
lifestyle far beyond that which with his wealth permits, but is grateful for the support that Antonio has
provided him. Although Bassanio may use Antonio for his coffers, he also owes Antonio in love. This
in turn displays that camaraderie is important to Bassanio and although he may be careless with his
money, he is a loyal and caring individual. However, it is clear that at the beginning of the play,
Antonio is far more invested in Bassanio than Bassanio is Antonio. At the beginning of the play it
appears that although they may be genuine friends, Bassanio may be using Antonio for his generosity
rather than brotherhood. Their friendships and characters are further expanded upon when Antonio
goes to meet Shylock and settle the terms of Bassanio s loan.
Act I, Scene 3 is arguably the most important scene in The Merchant of Venice. As it not only sets up
the development of the plot but also furthers the development of Antonio and Bassanio s friendship. In
this scene, Antonio and Bassanio meet with Shylock to discuss terms of a loan that Bassanio may use
to attempt to pursue Portia. Instead of having to pay usury, Shylock opts to take a pound of Antonio s
flesh if the debt is paid late. Upon hearing this, Antonio is confident that he

Political And Economic Theory Is An Often Contentious Subject
Political and economic theory is an often contentious subject as it relates to how much interference
governments should be allowed when it comes to rights and welfare of the public. One of the most
debated topics asks the question is it a part of the government s role to take wealth away from the rich
to give to the poor? John Rawls and Robert Nozick offer two differing theories about the role of
government in distributing wealth.
John Rawls argues that a just society must have equal rights for all. He defines a society as an
organization of individuals who work together and create a social contract of moral and immoral
actions. The goal of any society is to improve the lives of those who inhabit it, contradicting Nozick s
belief that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second principle is called the difference principle which states that social or economic inequalities
are only just if they help the most disadvantaged members of society. In this portion, Rawls does agree
that material inequality is a necessity to encourage economic competition, but states that it is only just
if it is then used to help those who have been disadvantaged by their social position. Rawls proposes
that the difference principle is the core component of distributive justice and therefore justifies the
redistribution of wealth from rich to poor at the hands of the state.
Rawls develops the idea of an original position as a conception point and a justification for this theory
of distributive justice. In this original position, an individual is standing behind a veil of ignorance
which blocks out social class, economic class, sexuality or natural talents. In this place, an individual
is in the position to make the most basic moral decisions because they face no external bias. If one
knows no place in society, a rational person will make decisions that help those who are worse off. In
the original position, the principles of justice would be agreed to by any rational human. This position
supports the idea that while each person might have a different background, they should have a fair
chance to pursue goals and the equality of opportunity despite these

Absolutism In The Seventeenth Century Analysis
During the seventeenth century, England experienced periods of growth and decline due to the
presence of absolutism in the government. The weaknesses of England s absolute monarchies led to
the creation of the constitutional monarchy, which remains as England s form of government in
modern times. Through influential events such as the English Civil War, the Restoration, and the
Glorious Revolution, England made reforms to political hierarchies. England faced a period of turmoil
under the reign of Charles I. Parliament and Charles I disagreed on financial affairs, which led to
discord. As a result, the Petition of Right was created to ensure certain rights for Parliament and
England s citizens. The Petition of Right implied that the law was higher than a monarch; the idea of a
balanced government was foreign when absolutism was at its peak in Europe. After signing the
document, Charles consistently ignored Parliament in favor of his own agenda. Over time, his
decreasing popularity instigated the English Civil War. His supporters and opponents fought for
political dominance in England. Eventually, Oliver Cromwell led Charles opponents to victory. After

Essay about Of Ideas, the Mind, and the Universe
Perception is a concept that we take for granted in our everyday lives. We assume that what we
perceive are the physical properties of the objects we encounter. George Berkeley, through his work
Three Dialogues Between Hylas and Philonous , questions these notions of what is truly real. Berkeley
voices his opinion through the character Philonous, who assumes a very similar role to Socrates in the
Platonic dialogues. First, it is necessary to distinguish between different types of sensory perception
for clarity s sake. Philonous systematically shows where all sensory perceptions break down to qualia
within the mind in the beginning of his dialogue, first with secondary qualities, and then primary
qualities. To explain our sense of objective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hylas believes that heat is inherent within the object (and is thus an example of one of Locke s
primary qualities), but Philonous presents him with a simple thought experiment which dispels Hylas
belief: Supose now one of your hands hot, and the other cold, and that they are both at once put into
the same vessel of water, in an intermediate state; will not the water seem cold to one hand and warm
to the other? Here, Philonous has given an example of two opposite sensations arising from the same
object, which, if we assume heat to be a property inherent of the object, creates a contradiction.
Therefore, Philonous concludes that heat cannot be a sensible quality. Philonous gives another
example, in which he says that if one pricks their finger with a pin, the pain obviously occurs from the
prick, not a property inherent in the pin. He presents this as analogous to the fire, and claims that it is
just as absurd to say that the pain from a burn, which he equates with a great heat, is inherent within
the fire as it is to say that pain is inherent within the pin . Philonous uses this technique of pleasure
and pain existing within senseless objects in order to debunk a number of other sensory perceptions,
including sweetness, bitterness, and odour . As for sound, Hylas admits that the sensation of sound
occurs within the mind, but that it is based upon the movement of air. Philonous refutes

for the people because hard labor(ing), over crowding, and starvation were the dominant features of
life and as a result 20 percent of the ghetto s population died. ( Lodz ). The Nazi s didn t care who
died. It must have been that bad for about 20% of the population to die because of starvation and
crowding. Most of the workers in the ghetto worked in the German Factories and received barely any
food ration and they didn t have any running water or a sewer system which made life even harder
than not having enough food. There is no way for an average human these days to not have any
running water or a sewer

Zoot Suit by Luis Valdez Essay
Zoot Suit by Luis Valdez
Based on the infamous 1942 Sleepy Lagoon murder mystery and the resulting Zoot Suit Riots in Los
Angeles , playwright Luis Valdez weaves fact and fiction to depict the fate of 22 young Mexican
Americans brought to trial for a murder they did not commit.
Zoot Suit brings together unforgettable characters such as the irreverent El Pachuco and the
charismatic Henry Reyna, an unsuspecting gang leader who finds himself caught in the middle of the
racially turbulent events that rocked Los Angeles during the early 1940s.
Valdez says this production exemplifies the evolution of American society.
The essence about the American experience is about cultural fusion, Valdez says. Zoot Suit has

It s very gratifying to get the immediate reaction from the audience, he says. Many young playwrights
tend to want to move toward making movies, mainly because of the potential to reach a world wide
audience. However, you can t see your viewers reactions.
At the age of 6, Valdez got his first taste of theater when he was cast to play a monkey for his school s
production of Christmas in the Jungle.
I use to bring my lunch in a paper bag and I remember when we were getting ready to prepare for the
play, my teacher took my bag, ripped it up and used it to make papier mache, he recalls. We made
masks for our costumes out of paper mache; and I got a monkey mask made from my lunch bag. I also
got a tail and I remember our costumes were really nice, made with nice material. I was so excited.
Valdez never got to perform in his school play because the week before the play, his family, who were
farm workers, were evicted from their home and had to move.
They play went on without me, he says. I never got to act and I was very disappointed. That event
created this hole in me; and I think from then on I ve been trying to fill it through my work.
Valdez s experience in a farm worker family provided much encouragement and drive when he
founded El Teatro Campesino. In 1965, Valdez left the San Francisco Mime Troupe to join Cesar
Chavez in organizing farmworkers in Delano, Calif. Valdez

Make Indi The Road Ahead For India s Development Saga Or...
Make in India: the road ahead for India s Development Saga or is it just another rhetoric?
Abstract:
Make in India campaign is an initiative that attracts the industrialists to make India a manufacturing
hub that helps to create jobs. India ranks 142nd in the ease of doing business and it is becoming
increasingly difficult for both Indian and foreign businessmen to start a business in India. The
infrastructure in India is not good enough to attract investors. There is a lack of proper connectivity
between the cities in India. The other bottleneck are taxation, Government policies, labor laws, ease of
obtaining licenses and land acquisition. India must also compete with its neighbor China as both the
nations are seen as growing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historically, India has always been an agricultural nation. The major share of GDP is from this sector
till the early 1950s and 60s. Down the line, its share began to decline and service sector started to
emerge. Today service sector players a prominent role in the economy of India. On the other hand,
Industrial sector has been growing right from the beginning but the growth is minimal when compared
to service sector. The Following graph depicts the percentage share of Individual Sectors in the
country. Figure 1: Shares of Agriculture, Industry and Services in India
As observed clearly from the above graph, the growth of Indian Manufacturing Sector has been
minimal. This can be attributed to the myriad factors that hinder the Indian Industrial sector. On a
closer introspection, there are major reasons in the country which holds back the Indian Economy.
Firstly, India lacks the optimum prerequisite for the growth of Industrial Sector i.e Infrastructure. India
is lagging in terms of infrastructure and more private players and public private partnership should be
encouraged to bring about the change. One such example is Jamshedpur built by TATA. It shows that
the problems are able to overcome with proper policy changes.
Secondly, power poses the next hindrance for the Industrial Sector. The issues related to power should
be resolved as early as possible in the near future. Lack of power is a big hurdle to the running of
industries. Many

A Comparison of Two Versions of The Big Sleep
A Comparison of Two Versions of The Big Sleep
The Production Code attempted to censor sex and violence in film of the 1930 s and 40 s. Instead of
impairing, it encouraged directors to use artistic ideas and integrity to surpass the viewers expectations
actively involving them in the film despite Hollywood s censorship. Howard Hawks is one such
director who used the restrictions of the Production Code to his advantage. His screen adaptation of
the Raymond Chandler novel The Big Sleep portrays the same amount of sexuality and violence
apparent in the written word, using a distinctly subtle style, which develops broader themes.
Comparisons with the extremely dull 70 s remake by Michael Winner further suggest the superiority

Both of these endings work well in their respective mediums. There is no written law that says a
producer or director has to strictly reinforce all the themes of the novel that are being adapted to the
screen. If this were true that would make for an entirely dull piece of work, which brings me to the
Michael Winner version.
Lacking the stars of Bogart and Bacall, the film inserts sexuality by glorifying Carmen Sternwood s
nude body at every opportunity. She appears quite a few times, as Chandler would say; in her birthday
suit alongside a gratuitous shot of the Schoolgirls porno magazine that Geiger distributes. The
problem does not lay in the vulgarity of this blatant flamboyance of flesh; however, it adheres to the
common false mystique that exhibitionism equals sex appeal.
Another fault in Michael Winners remake is its strict adherence to the plot of the novel. The
relationship between Vivian and Marlowe in the movie is non existent. It seems as though Robert
Mitchum, playing Marlowe, has more fun flirting with Agnes, played by Joan Collins, in Geiger s
bookstore than with the snotty, senior Sternwood sister. Leaving Eddie Mars gambling casino,
Marlowe kisses Vivian in an attempt to find out, what Eddie Mars has on her. However, Vivian is not
pleased with Marlowe s prodding and shrieks, so that s the way it is you rotten bastard. As illustrated
in the book, this scene depicts

The United States Armed Forces
War . As a kid growing up in America, it is a word that you become very accustom to hearing whether
it is from your television, parents, or teachers. In America s history, Americans have always been
adamant about upholding the strength of their Armed Forces and making sure no other country
becomes a threat of any sort. In the late 1800s, the United States Armed Forces created the military
which consist of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard. All these forces are
obviously there for some reason which are reported on television becoming the talk of the American
adults and onto their children. Also, as children get higher in their grade level they begin learning for
themselves about the military. I couldn t tell you about how other children took in the information of
these Armed Forces, but I will tell you about mine. I would say that the thought of the military did not
come to me until high school, when I not only started to learn more about the actions of the military
and their actions but I actually begin to understand and take it in. As a child you think of all these
authorities, from the government to the military, as being our protectors when in dangerous situations,
yet looking into our history that is not always how the system has worked. In some cases in our nation
s history we have not picked the best fights but have done things that have resulted in America being,
in my opinion, a country that cannot stay out of situations which do not

Essay On Reading Intervention
English language learners tend to fall behind their peers due to the inability to read or understand the
language. There are various students who identify themselves as English learners and almost 10% of
public school students in the United States participate in school based programs for ELs (Amendum,
Bratsch Hines, and Vernon Feagans 2017). Many students still tend to lack and struggle in reading and
language development. To help English learner s different types of interventions are being developed
that focus on the needs of the students. Through various strategies like the Core Intervention Model
and the Targeted Reading Intervention help struggling students perform at a standard level with their
peers.

It is important to not provide additional verbal instruction between the staircase steps because the
students are English learners who may not understand the various vocabulary words used while giving
the extra instructions. If more explanation is given it can increase the difficulty for Els because it
imposes additional language demands and it can distract them from the phonological focus that they
are supposed to be learning (Gerbert etal 2006). It is hard enough for them to understand what is being
ask of them and giving them extra instructions will just confuse them. It is important to use rapid pace,
explicit and concise questions, and to use enthusiastic praise immediately after a child responds
because the students who are struggling are falling behind their peers, using a fast paced can lead them
to catch up within a short time frame. By using a fast pace approach students have less time of being
distracted, it keeps them focus on the material. To be explicit and concise the teacher fist needs to
model the activity he/she wants the students to do, for struggling readers they need to be taught first of
what they need to do to learn the material (Richards Leafstedt 2009). By demonstrating to the students
what the teacher is asking for they get an idea of what is expected from them. Once the teacher
demonstrates the correct way to do it,

Enhancing Critical Thinking Skills
Critical thinking is a skill that can be developed by learning over time. Using critical thinking is about
having the ability to comprehend and push for answers. It works best with a positive attitude, and a
will to learn (Bethel University, 2013). The article I read was a study to improve your critical thinking
and writing skills. They used a series of writing assignments over a 10 week period, starting with
simple writing assignments, ending with ones that were more formal to push your critical thinking,
thus improving your writing skills (Varelas, Wolfe, Ialongo, 2015). By the end of this exercise, the
student s critical thinking and writing had improved significantly. They were able to interpret and

Who Is Creon A Tragic Hero
Tragic Heroism in Antigone In Greek Literature, there are three types of genres in stories. Those
genres would be classified as Romantic, Comedy or Drama. In class, we read Antigone, which would
be classified as a Drama because at the end she dies tragically due to her fate. Otherwise known as a
tragic hero. One real life example of one would be Martin Luther King Jr, his point of existence to be
a strong leader during the Civil Rights Era (1954 1968). Growing in power through speeches, he beat
the system and got what he aimed for, but sadly died because of James Earl Ray. In Antigone,
Sophocles shows that Creon is a tragic hero through the use of Indirect Characterization, Foil and
Hamartia.
Lines 185 through 240 (Page 326 327), Creon becomes King and says his acceptance speech.
Describing what he will be doing or changing in office in a very pridely manner. A good leader will
need that charistic in order to become successful. In his speech he tells everyone his goals, telling
them what he wants done. Using indirect characterization, a reader can easily conclude that King
Creon is a good leader and will bring prosperity in the future and that he is very proud of his stance of
his class. Sadly, his pride is one of his downfalls, dragging him down. ... Show more content on

In Antigone, King Creon s foil would be Antigone, which is the protagonist. King Creon s personality
can be described as selfish, caring only about his pride. He is also described as being very stubborn.

King Creon does not listen, he even deeply regrets having his son and is extremely disappointed.
Antigone s personality is the complete opposite, being brave, determined, strong willed, independent
and very loyal to her family, to the great Gods above

Dopamine In Hypsychology
Dopamine is one of the main hypothesized physiological causes of schizophrenia (Brisch et. al.,
2014). It is involved in movement, pleasure, and cognition: all of which are impacted in
schizophrenia. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter or a chemical messenger. It is in the neurotransmitter
class of catecholamine and has both inhibitory and excitatory effects (Carlson, 2013). These effects
are seen on the postsynaptic neuron, depending on the neuron dopamine can either be inhibitory or
excitatory. Within the brain, there are three main systems that use dopamine as their neurotransmitter.
These three systems are the nigrostriatal system, mesolimbic system, and the mesocortical system
(Carlson, 2013).
The nigrostriatal system runs through the basal ganglia which is the part of the brain that controls
movement (Carlson, 2013). The mesolimbic system runs through the nucleus accumbens which plays
a role in rewarding stimuli (Carlson, 2013). The nucleus accumbens reinforces behavior such as drug
addictions. The mesocortical system has neurons in the ventral tegmental area and the prefrontal
cortex (Carlson, 2013). The parts of the brain impacted by the ... Show more content on

Receptor sites are where molecules such as neurotransmitters react to other molecules. These D2
receptor sites are specialized for dopamine based on its molecular shape and composition. For
dopamine to have an impact on a cell such as a neuron in the brain, it has to bind to these receptor
sites. There is a higher level of dopamine seen in schizophrenia (Seeman Kapur, 2000). It is not just
the excess of dopamine that can lead to schizophrenia, it is the excess of dopamine receptors. The
increased number of receptors makes the body more sensitive to the presence of dopamine. The more
receptors allows for the dopamine to go to more place leading to a high release of dopamine (Seeman
Kapur, 2000, para.

Impression Management By Tobias Wolff
When Lombardi instituted the rule that players could not drink standing at a bar he was implementing
the effect of impression management. The book describes impression management as a set of
behaviors that people use to protect their self image or change the way they are seen by others. The
book also teaches us the two main goals of impression management which is to minimize bad and to
maximize good. Minimize bad by avoiding blame for poor performances or ask for forgiveness.
Maximizing good by generating respect and liking from other people. Although not all players were
drinking alcohol or frequenting bars, the ones that were had to keep a good image for the team. For the

Research Paper Marissa Chudy
Several students are doing Science Fair projects at Woodstock Middle School and I am one of the
seventh grade students. The topic I shall be doing is on how bridge structure affects the weight bearing
capacity. I chose this specific topic to guide bridge builders in the right direction on what bridge is
safest for public use. The key topics I plan to research on include the following: Beam, Warren Truss,
suspension, cable stayed, and arch bridges. I shall use the scientific method to guide me through this
process. Like every other science project, mine starts with a question. How does bridge structure affect
the weight bearing capacity? is the question. If I change the bridge structure on the most popular
bridges, then those specific bridges will be capable of holding longer and hold larger amounts of
weight. is the hypothesis. The three types of variables used are independent, dependent, and control
variables. These variables include the location of the bridge, the bucket, the amount of water, the
supplies, and the climate I experiment in. There are multiple items and steps to fully complete the
experiment. My materials include the following: Graph paper, 200 regular Popsicle sticks, wire

Stigma Of Popular Music

popular music only being a form of amusement for the mass consumer is challenged when artists use
music to attract attention to social issues. This paper intends to show how music like Raï challenge the
thought that popular music is only for entertainment. In order to understand how Raï challenges the
common perception of popular music, the question what exactly is Raï is must be answered. Raï,

  • 2. Watching the Watchmen Essay Watching the Watchmen While reading Watchmen with the purpose of textual analysis, there are many different things to consider. Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons took many original approaches to the typical super hero story when formulating this novel. Watchmen is a story about a group of outlawed super heroes in New York City. The story lines and backgrounds of particular characters are shown during the comic, and we see how different these characters are from the stories of typical super heroes. When trying to closely analyze this text, we could consider context, rhetorical strategies, and the comparison to the Catholic Intellectual Teaching. When looking at the context of this piece, it is interesting to think about why Moore and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Other ways that irony is used within the comic is more general, like the smiley face with a stain of blood on it. This image is originally introduced on the first page of the whole novel but is also a reoccurring image. (1.1). Something that is usually seen as so happy is now tainted with something considered so dark. Gibbons frequent use of this image may show the corruptness of the superheroes and the city, or even world, as a whole. Another example of the general irony used within Watchmen is fighting violence with more violence. A prime character to portray this is Rorschach. His childhood could be to blame for his crooked ways, but he is always violent in his approaches, even if they are for a good cause. When Rorschach was trying to save a kidnapped girl, he used violence to try to solve the problem. Visited underworld bars and began hurting people. Put fourteen in hospital needlessly. (6.18 25). This is ironic because they are supposed to be superheroes, and saving people. Superheroes are supposed to take the good way out, but the lines between hero and villain are pretty blurred in this novel. Irony is a key feature in Watchmen because it lets us see how the author and illustrator wanted us to view the characters. It portrays how messed up and broken the Watchmen actually are. There are many ways that you could compare the Catholic Intellectual Teaching to Watchmen. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In it, Charlemagne and his men, weary in their seventh year of battle against pagan forces in Spain, have captured every heathen stronghold but the kingdom of Saragossa, held by the Muslim king Marsile. Terrified of the might of Charlemagne s army, Marsile promises treasures, hostages and his conversion to Christianity if the Franks will go back to France. However, Marsile has no intention of surrendering and wants only for Charlemagne to end his siege of the city and get out of Spain. Charlemagne does not trust Marsile but nevertheless accepts the proposal despite his nephew, Roland s, objections. Roland nominates his stepfather, Ganelon, as a messenger to go back to Marsile s court. Ganelon initially protests but is forced to accept the dangerous commission. He fears that he ll die in the hands of the bloodthirsty pagans and publicly vows that, As long as I live, I shall have no love for [Roland] (Song 39). Ganelon has long been jealous of Roland, and on his diplomatic mission he finds an opportunity for revenge. There is always a distinction between urban refugees and camp dwellers when analyzing the situation. There is also the dilemma of whether to consider establishments such as detention centers or collective settlements as refugee camps or not.The characteristics of judging or analyzing a camp to be opened , closed ,semi opened or non existing at all, is also an important factor to put in mind. The refugees development of their new urban context , their daily movements and their experience within the space, is what might lead us to comparing a refugee settlement as any urban settlement, rather than a temporary solution (Dora ̈ı,2010). 2.4.2 The understanding of a refugee camp. • 14. Criticism Of Advertising In Advertising I have found most product advertising to be ridiculous and somewhat laughable. Those in advertisement have jobs that require them to sell us products and they walk a fine line to entice us to buy. Sales are the key to success and growth in any organization but should it be at the consumer s cost? The claims in the advertisements are what sells the product in the end, but many of them leave out important information and provide us with hyped and over exaggerated claims. Advertising typically hits a pain spot which pushes people to buy on impulse because they need it and want a solution to that pain. See, they do their research and know just what to say to make us feel better, want more, and make our lives much happier. The promises are never ending like the 30 day money back guarantee that is truly a paradox. After we see these products in advertisement we assume that we can make good use of them, but how many of these as seen on TV products do you use regularly? Most products do not measure up to the claims of their advertisements. Let s take any restaurant or fast food chain s advertising and compare it to what you actually get once you receive your order. My sandwiches at Subway never looks like what is shown on the television commercial. Instead of receiving a scrumptious sandwich piled high with meat and vegetables it is more like having to open the bread to even find meat and vegetables. I think this is your classic bait and switch tactic. Advertising ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The following screams and sight of blood caused panic among the passengers. A passenger tried to interpose one of the hijackers, but he was also stabbed. With the possibility of faster flight people will always want to see how fast they can push the aircraft they design. The development and research that went into the aircrafts that helped break the sound barrier, took a long time and many people co operation. But after many years of research and testing with several different types of aircrafts they were able to succeed in producing an aircraft that could surpass the sound barrier and bring us into a new era of flight. The ideas on how to get an aircraft up to the speed and the designs of many researcher had to come together in order for this feat to be accomplished. From the engineering stages of the project to the research on how the air around the aircraft will react to an object moving through it to at such high speeds and the equipment that needed to be made that can used during the flight all had to be crated for this to work (John D. Often with adjective indicating the closeness of the relationship, asbest, good, close, etc. (Oxford ) Friendship is the display of trust and intimacy as well as caring for one another. Bassanio is expressing his remorse over having lived a lifestyle far beyond that which with his wealth permits, but is grateful for the support that Antonio has provided him. Although Bassanio may use Antonio for his coffers, he also owes Antonio in love. This in turn displays that camaraderie is important to Bassanio and although he may be careless with his money, he is a loyal and caring individual. However, it is clear that at the beginning of the play, Antonio is far more invested in Bassanio than Bassanio is Antonio. At the beginning of the play it appears that although they may be genuine friends, Bassanio may be using Antonio for his generosity rather than brotherhood. Their friendships and characters are further expanded upon when Antonio goes to meet Shylock and settle the terms of Bassanio s loan. Act I, Scene 3 is arguably the most important scene in The Merchant of Venice. As it not only sets up the development of the plot but also furthers the development of Antonio and Bassanio s friendship. In this scene, Antonio and Bassanio meet with Shylock to discuss terms of a loan that Bassanio may use to attempt to pursue Portia. Instead of having to pay usury, Shylock opts to take a pound of Antonio s flesh if the debt is paid late. Upon hearing this, Antonio is confident that he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Political And Economic Theory Is An Often Contentious Subject Political and economic theory is an often contentious subject as it relates to how much interference governments should be allowed when it comes to rights and welfare of the public. One of the most debated topics asks the question is it a part of the government s role to take wealth away from the rich to give to the poor? John Rawls and Robert Nozick offer two differing theories about the role of government in distributing wealth. John Rawls argues that a just society must have equal rights for all. He defines a society as an organization of individuals who work together and create a social contract of moral and immoral actions. The goal of any society is to improve the lives of those who inhabit it, contradicting Nozick s belief that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second principle is called the difference principle which states that social or economic inequalities are only just if they help the most disadvantaged members of society. In this portion, Rawls does agree that material inequality is a necessity to encourage economic competition, but states that it is only just if it is then used to help those who have been disadvantaged by their social position. Rawls proposes that the difference principle is the core component of distributive justice and therefore justifies the redistribution of wealth from rich to poor at the hands of the state. Rawls develops the idea of an original position as a conception point and a justification for this theory of distributive justice. In this original position, an individual is standing behind a veil of ignorance which blocks out social class, economic class, sexuality or natural talents. In this place, an individual is in the position to make the most basic moral decisions because they face no external bias. If one knows no place in society, a rational person will make decisions that help those who are worse off. In the original position, the principles of justice would be agreed to by any rational human. This position supports the idea that while each person might have a different background, they should have a fair chance to pursue goals and the equality of opportunity despite these ... • 19. Absolutism In The Seventeenth Century Analysis During the seventeenth century, England experienced periods of growth and decline due to the presence of absolutism in the government. The weaknesses of England s absolute monarchies led to the creation of the constitutional monarchy, which remains as England s form of government in modern times. Through influential events such as the English Civil War, the Restoration, and the Glorious Revolution, England made reforms to political hierarchies. England faced a period of turmoil under the reign of Charles I. Parliament and Charles I disagreed on financial affairs, which led to discord. As a result, the Petition of Right was created to ensure certain rights for Parliament and England s citizens. The Petition of Right implied that the law was higher than a monarch; the idea of a balanced government was foreign when absolutism was at its peak in Europe. After signing the document, Charles consistently ignored Parliament in favor of his own agenda. Over time, his decreasing popularity instigated the English Civil War. His supporters and opponents fought for political dominance in England. Eventually, Oliver Cromwell led Charles opponents to victory. We assume that what we perceive are the physical properties of the objects we encounter. George Berkeley, through his work Three Dialogues Between Hylas and Philonous , questions these notions of what is truly real. Berkeley voices his opinion through the character Philonous, who assumes a very similar role to Socrates in the Platonic dialogues. First, it is necessary to distinguish between different types of sensory perception for clarity s sake. Philonous systematically shows where all sensory perceptions break down to qualia within the mind in the beginning of his dialogue, first with secondary qualities, and then primary qualities. Hylas believes that heat is inherent within the object (and is thus an example of one of Locke s primary qualities), but Philonous presents him with a simple thought experiment which dispels Hylas belief: Supose now one of your hands hot, and the other cold, and that they are both at once put into the same vessel of water, in an intermediate state; will not the water seem cold to one hand and warm to the other? Here, Philonous has given an example of two opposite sensations arising from the same object, which, if we assume heat to be a property inherent of the object, creates a contradiction. Therefore, Philonous concludes that heat cannot be a sensible quality. Philonous gives another example, in which he says that if one pricks their finger with a pin, the pain obviously occurs from the prick, not a property inherent in the pin. He presents this as analogous to the fire, and claims that it is just as absurd to say that the pain from a burn, which he equates with a great heat, is inherent within the fire as it is to say that pain is inherent within the pin . Philonous uses this technique of pleasure and pain existing within senseless objects in order to debunk a number of other sensory perceptions, including sweetness, bitterness, and odour . As for sound, Hylas admits that the sensation of sound occurs within the mind, but that it is based upon the movement of air. Philonous refutes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The infrastructure in India is not good enough to attract investors. There is a lack of proper connectivity between the cities in India. Howard Hawks is one such director who used the restrictions of the Production Code to his advantage. Both of these endings work well in their respective mediums. There is no written law that says a producer or director has to strictly reinforce all the themes of the novel that are being adapted to the screen. If this were true that would make for an entirely dull piece of work, which brings me to the Michael Winner version. Lacking the stars of Bogart and Bacall, the film inserts sexuality by glorifying Carmen Sternwood s nude body at every opportunity. She appears quite a few times, as Chandler would say; in her birthday suit alongside a gratuitous shot of the Schoolgirls porno magazine that Geiger distributes. The problem does not lay in the vulgarity of this blatant flamboyance of flesh; however, it adheres to the common false mystique that exhibitionism equals sex appeal. Another fault in Michael Winners remake is its strict adherence to the plot of the novel. The relationship between Vivian and Marlowe in the movie is non existent. • 29. Dopamine In Hypsychology Dopamine is one of the main hypothesized physiological causes of schizophrenia (Brisch et. al., 2014). It is involved in movement, pleasure, and cognition: all of which are impacted in schizophrenia. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter or a chemical messenger. It is in the neurotransmitter class of catecholamine and has both inhibitory and excitatory effects (Carlson, 2013). These effects are seen on the postsynaptic neuron, depending on the neuron dopamine can either be inhibitory or excitatory. Within the brain, there are three main systems that use dopamine as their neurotransmitter. These three systems are the nigrostriatal system, mesolimbic system, and the mesocortical system (Carlson, 2013). The nigrostriatal system runs through the basal ganglia which is the part of the brain that controls movement (Carlson, 2013). The mesolimbic system runs through the nucleus accumbens which plays a role in rewarding stimuli (Carlson, 2013). The nucleus accumbens reinforces behavior such as drug addictions. The mesocortical system has neurons in the ventral tegmental area and the prefrontal cortex (Carlson, 2013). The parts of the brain impacted by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is not just the excess of dopamine that can lead to schizophrenia, it is the excess of dopamine receptors.
