Notes On Bond And Bond Rating
Introduction to bond and bond ratings A bond is a form of debt in which you loan your money to a
company, city, or government and in return they agree to return the money to you after an agreed
upon time, with payments of interest to you while they hold your money (Wall Street Journal,
2015). There are many different kinds of bonds, and they are sold to fund various different
projects. Bonds are seen as a safe investment and also offer investors a steady stream of income
from the interest payments. Although this may be the case for some bonds, it isn t the case for all
bonds that are issued. This is where the bondratings system comes into play. Bond rating is a
system used to provide investors with an idea of the risk they are taking... Show more content on

The ratings for bonds are provided by three major rating agencies: Standard Poor s Corporation,
Moody s Investors Services and Fitch s Investor Services (Brigham Houston). Each use quantitative
and qualitative information to ensure that an accurate rating has been provided to investors.
Factors that determine bond ratings When a rating agency examines a firm s bonds, they must look
at various different factors that will help to paint a much larger picture of the financial health of the
firm. An agency will use quantitative factors to look at the history of the firm and while using
qualitative factors to look to the future stability of a firm and its ability to follow through on its
contractual obligations to bond holders (Brigham Houston, 2013) The quantitative factors an
analyst would use include ratios that evaluate the company s ability to payout what s owed to
bondholders. These ratios include the total debt to total capital ratio, which verifies the amount of
capital provided by debt holders, and the times interest earned ratio, which evaluates a company s
ability to pay out interest owed to bondholders (Brigham Houston, 2013). This information can then
be used to help create forecasted financial statements, which shed light on the ability to not only
meet current liabilities, but to continue to meet them for years to come. The qualitative factors are
based on the quality of the firm, the product, and the leadership. This can include

Rwandan Genocide And Ethnic Conflict
I.Introduction
On April 6 1994, following the death of president Juvenal Habyarimana, the state of Rwanda was
hurled into chaos as genocides took the lives of 800,000 people . Began by the Hutu political elite
and its military support, their main targets were the Tutsi, and Hutu moderates. Many have claimed
ethnic hatred as the reason of the Rwanda Genocide and while an ethnic split existed in Rwanda
during the conflict, the causes for the genocide are numerous and complicated. In examining the
Rwanda Genocide as an ethnic conflict it is crucial that ethnicity be inspected as it affected and
was affected by economic, political and social elements. The problem for explaining the brutality in
Rwanda as an ethnic conflict is that as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
II.Ethnicity in Conflict
Although some ethnic identities were founded on inherent biological, cultural, or racial traits
dividing lines have mostly changed. On the contrary, the characteristics of ethnic groups are
enormously personal and have undertaken a presumed identity . As much as ethnicity is
distinguished by a mutual identity inside a specific group, it is concurrently explained by its
differences with other groups. While constituents of an ethnic group take part in an identity
founded on a mutual characteristic or opinion, their ethnic attributes (such as language, race,
religion) are normally not all the same, and if they are, these characteristics independently are not
distinct to that group. The difference in the amalgamation of characteristics that shapes an ethnic
identity signifies that a person normally shares mutuality with more than one ethnic group.
Moreover, what are the fixed dividing lines that determine an ethnic group when its constituents
have mutual characteristics with one other, but as well with other groups? The ethnic label
subsumes a number of simultaneous characteristics which no doubt cluster statistically, but which
are not absolutely interdependent and connected .
As the discussion on ethnic conflict proceeds to grow, it has possibly grown more and more
onerous to establish a

Characteristics Of Adrian Gore
In the following essay one talks/writes about three forms of leadership, namely: Transformational
from of leadership where the leader maintains a mutual relationship between him/her and the
followers thereof, Charismatic leadership, which gathers followers through the leader s dint of
personality and charm, and Transactional form of leadershipwhich co ordinates procedures of
working together. (Robbins, S.P. (2007) Organisational Behaviour (SA Ed): Global and South
African perspective). A leader is a person who influences a group of people towards the
achievement of a goal, having empowered the very same to reach their full potential in benefiting
both sides. ()
The discussion of the above is in relation to the character of Adrian Gore as a leader.
Adrian Gore, born 16 May 1964, is the CEO and founder of Discovery Ltd, which he launched in
the country in 1992 with a core purpose of helping people to get healthier and safer in helping to

These leaders are prominent for two factors, namely contingent reward and management by
exception. Contingent reward is in two ways; being either a reward or punishment. The leader
informs its subordinates what is required of them to do and in what manner it should be done, then
presents to their subordinates what the contingent reward is for a job well done or what the
punishment is for the opposite.
Management by exception is a strict structured way of leading as these are the kind of leaders
which focus on the role of supervision, organization and group performance. Such leaders make
the primary objective of the followers to be obeying the instruction if not the commands. Such
leaders trust their followers to do a good job if not they intervene so to make sure that what is

The NFL Protests Of The National Anthem
NFL Protests of the National Anthem The National Football League players who are kneeling
for the national anthem are disrespecting our country and what it stands for. Our flag stands for
freedom and liberty. The players should respect that. Before every NFL game, the flag is
brought out by an Honor Guard. This is part of a time honored ceremony intended to present our
nation s colors (the flag) and National Anthem in a respectful manner. By kneeling during the
national anthem, they are disrespecting the flag, the national anthem, all our nation stands for,
the people currently serving in the armed forces and all of those who gave their lives in our
nation s service. As a result of all the players or coaches kneeling, long time NFL fans are
burning jerseys, cancelling season tickets, not showing up for games, not watching games, and
canceling the NFL Sunday ticket and well they should. The players claim they are simply
exercising their 1st Amendment Rights. The players are wrong. The Freedom of Speech Clause
of the 1st Amendment to the United States Constitution only protects people from Government
attempts to restrict their speech. The NFL is not the government. The NFL is a private entity
that has the right to stop its representatives (players) from violating its rules. This is why the
NFL can require players to wear pink for breast cancer awareness or stop players from wearing
911 Memorials or fine players for celebrating in the end zone. The NFL operations manual
requires the players to stand for the National Anthem with their right hand over their heart, their
helmet in the left hand, while facing the Flag. Therefore, the players have no right to kneel
during the National Anthem. All the NFL needs to do to end this nonsense is enforce the rules
the players already agreed to follow. NFL football players have no greater right to protest on the
football field than an employee at Wal Mart has to take a knee on aisle seven. Employers have
the right to stop political speech on their premises or while employees are on the clock (there are
some exceptions, but these do not apply). The NFL operations manual simply makes the league s
rules similar Federal law. Federal law (commonly referred to as the

Hey Jude Beatles
I chose the song Hey Jude created by Beatles in 1968. This song was evolved from Hey Jules , a
song that Paul McCartney created in a car to comfort John Lennon s son, Julian, when his parents
divorced. Later, Paul McCartney decided to change Jules to Jude because it sounded better , and
also probably because he was afraid John Lennon, also a core member of The Beatles, aside from
being Julian s father, would be offended, quit the group, and make The Beatles disband. Indeed,
the rumors say that Hey Jude was one of the reasons that John Lennon quit The Beatles later. The
song is about comforting Jude and telling advices, such as Hey Jude, don t make it bad.... take a
sad song and make it better or And anytime you feel the pain, Hey Jude, refrain....... Show more

Also, The Beatles is the only singer band/singer active that I know of in 20th century(except
Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley, but I don t like them much), so that s another reason that I
picked this song.
This song was written and recorded in 1968. It was written by The Beatles, a singer group that
consists of four people John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison. But only
Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are alive today. Hey Jude was one of the songs that The Beatles
never put into an album, alongside Can t Buy Me Love .
The Beatles started as a small group in Liverpool. They traveled around the globe, and with
Brian Epstein as their manager they went along as a seamless team. But when Brian Epstein died
of drug overdose, the members quickly started to fall apart, and ended up getting disbanded. Even
so, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, the surviving members of the group, still remain musically
active. George Harrison died of lung cancer in 2001, and John Lennon, the lead singer of the group
with Paul McCartney, was shot and killed in 1980

The Ghost Army
World War II General George S. Patton reflected, These men suffered enough for a hundred
lifetimes, and no one in this country should be allowed to forget it. The men he is referring to
were part of a tactical unit called the Ghost Army. They all could have died if even one thing
went wrong. The Ghost Army was part of the 23rd Headquarters Special troops. This
organization was top secret until 1996. These men and missions are still spoken of and
remembered to this very day ( 23rd Headquarters Special troops ). The Ghost Army spent a long
time making a plan that would lead the Allied troops to victory. They mapped out everything and
made sure everything was perfect. They all had their special strategic skills. These men and the unit

Operation Fortitude is a go, Commander Patton said. Many people wonder what type of tactical
tricks did the unit use and how they knew about it. Actually, the U.S. army got these ideas of the
plan of deception from The first President of the United States: George Washington. Washington
practiced deception as an art rather than a science. Now the Ghost army was using this Art to
fool the Germans ( Ghost Soldier magazine ). The art of tactical deception was their best skill.
They wanted to mislead the enemy forces that were going to fall for the tanks and the fake
attacks that they were presenting. The commander of the unit had to assign the recruits positions
so that each designer and artist would know what to operate: the speakers manipulating gunshot
sounds and explosions or the inflatable tank balloons meant to deceive the enemy into thinking a
real unit was closeby. The commander created a group called the Effect group, and they would
be operating the important equipment in the operation ( Ghost Army Tricked Hitler ). What
exactly, though, did the Ghost Army do on the battlefield? One soldier, Jack Massey,
commented, We were told we were going to be using inflatable equipment to try and fool the
Germans into thinking that we were a real army, when we were in effect, I suppose, a rubber
army (www.npr.org). They are all set and ready to go into action, they start their journey through
the woods and into a field. Now the army is now setting up their fake tanks off of a ranch in
Germany and waiting for the action to begin. The unit finally finished with their plan and
successfully tricked the Germans with their fake

The Strange Career Of Jim Crow
Jim crow laws In the 18th century the civil war had brought in end to slavery ,when the union
beat the confederacy. Many people believe that slavery ended right there, and that anything else
that happened to African Americans after that was due to racism of the people of that
time. When in reality that change had caused ripples, that would shape history and the way
people think all the way till today.Using historical ideas ,journals ,and such C.Vann Woodward in
The Strange Career Of JIM CROW marvalasouley shows the reader that from the time of
emancipation there had always been a struggle between whites and black and how to
comprehend one another in a vast and rapidly changing world. One idea that C Vann Woodward
states to the reader is that there were two period that crucially contributed to the struggle between
black and white. One of them was the reconstruction era where it eradicated the status of slave or
being a slave. This is a time where many people believe that the south became a racial and unfair
world for blacks, while the north was always happy and equal.this is actually false and in fact was
somewhat the oppisite.Woodward shows this by taking a journals of Alexis de Toqueville who
went and visited the north, Who then at the time was astonished by the depth of racial bias he
encountered in the north 1. As well as The Prejudice of race..appears to be stronger..abolishhed

characteristics to set a structure for the book. It explains facts such as Victor s interest in science
that essentially began during a storm. Additionally it mentions the death of his mother
foreshadowing his bad luck before he left for Ingolstadt. The reader was left in suspense as to what

The Portrayal Of Zombies In Popular Culture
Over the past few years, there has been a new craze over the undead , zombies. Like all monsters,
zombies have become a thing no longer just feared and instead obsessed over. Now, they can be
found on posters, movies, and even t shirts for not only adults, but also children. This zombie
sensation wiping the country has a varying portrayal. No two zombiemovies are exactly the same,
but many themes can be found similar in all of them. Supposedly apocalyptic, zombies are
generally destructive and devilish. If this is true, why are they becoming so popular and is today s
culture portraying zombies correctly? Zombies, generally, are any human beings that are mindless,
show now emotion, and are driven to a specific motive. Being this way,... Show more content on

Maybe our entire perspective of what zombies are is actually wrong. From my knowledge,
zombies that are feared to bring the apocalypse are actually living beside us today. People in
today s society have become enslaved by many things, especially by their own desires. Like
zombies, they live day by day, emotionless and persistent. They do the same thing, the same way,
365 days a year. In my opinion, zombies are not only the dead who are living, but also the living
who are dead. Zombies in real life aren t cannibalistic, but in the process of getting what they
want, they may cause destruction. The destruction can occur because, like zombies, living
zombies will also do whatever it takes to fulfill their desires. I believe that zombies shouldn t be
feared or believed to cause an apocalypse. If anything, we, living zombies, will be the ones to
cause the apocalypse when we go brother against brother to fulfill our own selfish

completely across the world from america. It is always great to learn about new cultures and
religion.
Bosnia has a completely different culture then we do as america. In bosnia in order to have social
time they sit and have coffee. They can sit their for hour on hours, and just talk to people and drink
coffee. The way people get around in bosnia is different from here in america. The people in
bosnia use public transportation to get about their town because they don t own cars. Their buses
get completely packed of people to the point where people are getting squished to get around. One
interesting facts of bosnia is that women can t sit on the concrete floor because they believe that it
will block their ovaries and cant have babys. I think that is interesting fact what about you ?

Substance Dualism Is The Belief That The Mind And The Body...
Substance dualism is the belief that the mind and the body are separate entities, consequently, an
argument for dualism is that i. minds can experience anger, ii. Nothing physical can experience
anger and therefore, minds are not physical. In this examination my goal is to show that minds are
physical. I will argue against the second premise, showing that the mindis the brain, which is
physical. I will do so by referring to the functionalist school of thought and additionally, by
examining the functioning of the brain with regard to research on neuroscience. Furthermore, I will
exhibit that substance dualist Rene Descartes work on non human animals is inconsistent with
research that shows the existence of mental states in non human animals, thus confirming that
minds are physical. Functionalism is the belief that a mental state, such as pain, is to have an
internal state which does a certain job (Ravenscroft, 2005, p. 50). For example, the pain that a
human being feels and the pain that an octopus feels may have different physical processes within
the brain, but the pain is still being felt; in other words, to be in (or have) mental state M is to
have an internal state which does the M job (Ravenscroft, 2005, p. 51). Any mental state M is
defined in terms of inputs, outputs and internal connections, and for example, the pain role s input
may be stepping on a Lego piece, the output may be cursing and finally a possible internal
connection, which is the causal link

Reaction to “Introduction to a New America”

Professor Diana Eck in Chapter One of Introduction to a New America highlights the emerging new
religious climate in the United States. The United States has always been a country of many
religious traditions due to the Constitutional right of Freedom of Religion. But since the 1965
Immigration and Naturalization Act, signed by President Johnson, America s borders have seen a
tremendous influx of individuals from around the world. There are one million new immigrants to
the U. S. each year which has led the United States to become the most religiously diverse nation
on earth. The percentage of foreign born Americans is now 10.4 percent, which is more than
double what it was in 1970. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She considers herself a Christian pluralist one that is open to encountering individuals of different
faith traditions and defining her own faith not by its borders, but by it roots. She points out that
many Conservative Christians do not agree with her. Part of the Christian ideology is to convert
those who are not believers. As long as that ideology is in place, mutual respect and cooperation
will be difficult to achieve. She stresses that the old time religion has to be up to the challenges of
an intricately interdependent world in order to progress towards a pluralistic society. Eck stresses
that the challenge today is to adhere to the same principals of religious freedom that formed our
nation and embrace the resulting religious diversity. Eck should be congratulated on her goal of
mutual understanding and respect by all Americans, but I believe it is an unrealistic and naГЇve
goal. The Christian Right and Fundamentalist Christian movement will continue to play a
significant role in America s belief system and this will stand in the way of embracing other
religions and becoming a totally pluralistic society. Some non Christian religions are also intolerant

Contemporary Issues Facing The Church
Contemporary Issues Facing the Church
I believe we exist for one purpose. That purpose is to worship and reflect our Heavenly Father. He
has given His instructions to us in the Bible. The Bible tells of how we are to administer the
church, how we are to worship in the church and who is to have roles in the church.
What are the biblical principles for administration in a local church?
Gilbert Bilezikian gives four areas that need to be addressed when administering the church here
on earth, 1. A shared faith, 2. A share purpose, 3. A shared lifestyle and 4. A shared authority
(Bilezikian, 1993, p. 195 197). A shared faith is noted in Ephesians 4:5 where Gods people are told
to have one Lord, one faith, one baptism (NIV). Gilbert tells his readers, every church needs to
formuloate clearly its understanding of the Christian faith ( (Bilezikian, 1993, p. 195). With this
written statement everyone within the church will have a common ground from which to govern,
with all people knowing what the belief of that church is.
I believe without an idea of what the church wants to accomplish they must have a statement of
purpose. Ephesians tells us In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the
plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will (Ephesians 1:11,
NIV). This tells me that the church needs to prayerfully commune with God to discover what
purpose He has for us and then make that purpose into a statement of

Why Did The Big Bang Happen
Energy cannot be created or destroyed so how did the Universe or anything start. There is a
theory that is called the Big Bang. There is a lot of evidence the Big Bang exploding. There are a
lot of questions that have not been answered yet. Also there is a lot of the Universe that has not
been explored yet.
The most recent saying of the Big Bang is that it exploded. The Big Bang was a little dot
somewhere in the universe. In the middle of the dot there was a lot of heat. It was really hot that
the people that study the big bang say that it exploded because of the heat that was in the middle.
They are also saying that that space is what it is expanding. People who study the Big Bang say

what it is. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

because they are so far away from our Galaxy that the light from it is taking a very long time to

Bang exploded. After a while of searching for it, they finally found it. It looks like and egg and
over the years that energy has cooled down. When they have barely found it, it was very hot.
In conclusion, for now we have to believe about the Big Bang. People who study the Big Bang

space is still expanding today. The most recent saying is that the Universe exploded and that space

answer: No clue. So how do we discover the answer? The best two methods of study for accurate
and more conclusive results are naturalistic observation and (insert other form of study).
Let s examine Naturalistic observation first. To start, what is naturalistic observation? This term is
defined as the inconspicuous (as much as possible) observation of an individual/group in their
natural (unaltered) environment. The benefit of this (in theory) is that we can view the natural
state and behaviors of a person. The downside is that people always alter their behavior when they
are aware they re being watched. However, being that this question is directed towards children
there is a resource available that may be used for naturalistic observation: Video surveillance. With

pulseless and apneic, by family at approximately 2200 hours. EMS personnel arrived on scene,
performed quality CPR and followed appropriate ACLS algorithms, and found an organized rhythm
with matching peripheral pulses at the third check. Per 2010 AHA guidelines, medics performed a
12 lead EKG, managed the patient s hypotension with a fluid bolus, and managed the patient s
airway by endotracheal intubation (American Heart Association, 2011). The patient displayed no
neurological response, the EKG revealed significant ST segment elevation in anterior and septal

The American Heart Association (2011) states that, Therapeutic hypothermiais the only intervention
demonstrated to improve neurologic recovery after cardiac arrest (Pp 77). Recommendations range
between 32 and 36 degrees centigrade for 12 to 36 hours. Cooling may be achieved through either
introduction of cooled, isotonic, non glucose containing fluid, or surface cooling interventions like
ice packs or cold packs. The AHA states, however, that patient core temperaturemust be monitored
by an esophageal thermometer, a pulmonary artery catheter, or a bladder catheter and that
peripheral temperature measurements via axillary, aural, or oral thermometers are inadequate for
measuring core temperatures in targeted temperature management. Therefore, while the AHA does
recommend initiation of therapeutic hypothermia by EMS personnel in certain situations, agencies
must carry and be trained in the use of equipment to adequately measure the patient s core
temperature. Further, the AHA states that therapeutic hypothermia results in increased neurologic
function post cardiac arrest but does not identify a timeframe for initiation for these protocols, let
alone explore whether or not initiation of post cardiac arrest targeted temperature management by
EMS influences patient outcomes. According to a study published in the

Colin Powell 18 Lessons In Leadership Summary
General (USA RET) Colin L. Powell, 18 Lessons in Leadership General Powell highlights 18
lessons learned in leadership that are applied to successful companies, and how they are applied
to leadership in his presentation to the Outreach Program, and the Sears Corporate
Headquarters. These approaches can be applied not only in business but life in general. I will
highlight three of the lessons that have impacted my career in the military Lesson 7 Too often
in business as well as the military, If it ain t broke, don t fix it (Powell, C #7). Too often the
command as well as enlisted soldiers will use this analogy to continue to do what they have
always done and fight change. Also this leads to allowing small details to be overlooked because
it s been allowed before, these small details, such as production schedules become larger details.
These small little details will cause larger details to be overlooked in the future. This culture will
foster reactivity instead of promoting proactivity (Powell, C #7). This type of culture is a
struggle for leaders to change in the National Guard because of the hometown mentality, all
though we strive to keep the since of community in our units as leaders we have to be the
supporters of change. Be able to answer the why when it is necessary to move in a different
direction, we have to be able to always look beneath the surface and not take situations at face
value. When we have questions or concerns as long as they are morally and

Jimmy The Promise Keeper And Aristotle s Eudaimonia
Jimmy the Promise Keeper
This video showed many people that were searching for ways to be happy. Not just momentarily
happy, but happy for the long run. We saw the journeys that; Jimmy, Diana, Jerry, Catherine,
Richard, Tim and Chris, went on to find true happiness. Aristotle believed that happiness was called
Eudaimonia, meaning good interior spirit. This interior spirit was more permanent and solid than
what happiness is. If Aristotle were here to look at these seven people and had to say which would
be the most likely to achieve his idea of Eudaimonia, I think it would be Jimmy the promise
keeper. Based on what I researched about the promise keepers and Aristotle s Eudaimonia, Jimmy
seems to be the most fitting in that he did not stop his life to find this inner spirit, and he wasn t
buying it, he was simply living it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Glass Menagerie Manipulation
How many people from the ages of 18 34 still live with their parents? Well, on average, about
30.3% of those people still live with their parents, but the reasons as to why are unknown. In the
play, The Glass Menagerie, Tom and Laura Wingfield are between the ages of 18 34 and they still
live with their mom, Amanda. Now their reasons why they both still live with her are clearly
displayed in this play. All three familymembers show eager signs to escape from each other but
some sort of physiological and manipulative tornado of emotions is holding them all back. Some
might call Amanda crazy, but what is power without a little bit of irrational thinking and disguised
manipulation? Although Laura may display her own robust qualities, they cannot match Amanda s
steady flow of persuasive strength because she is manipulative, extremely emotional, and is a hard
working mother. Throughout the play, Amanda persistently demonstrates controlling power. Before
Laura s gentleman caller arrives, Amanda and Laura are arguing about Laura s appearance. Amanda
says, To be painfully honest, your chest is flat, (Williams 70). Amanda directly... Show more content

Police Enforcement Is An Evolving Agency Essay
Law enforcement has been an evolving agency just as many fields in the US. Most agencies have
the same goal, that is to prevent crime, investigate crime and apprehend criminals, maintain order,
and provide other miscellaneous services. The diversity in American cities is what makes law
enforcement unique, it has a huge impact and role as to how agencies operate with the citizens that
live in those communities. In the US policedepartments are more likely to use one of three or a
combination of 3 police strategies: community policing, problem oriented policing and zero
tolerance policing. With that being said all of these serve a purpose and have negative and
positives contributing effect onto communities. Through my experience and knowledge I have
learned from policing I would utilize a combination of problem oriented policing and community
policing if I were chief of police of a police department. Although both styles of policing have their
own goals and structures, problem oriented policing seems to tie in with community policing.
Utilizing these two styles would also help to bridge the gap between the community and the police.
Community policing is a model of policing that stresses a two way working relationship between
the community and the police, in which the police become more integrated into the local
community and citizens assume an active role in crime control and prevention, as stated in the
book The Police in America. This concept of policing style involves

Raiden wanted it to be a boy but Kana wouldn t mind if it was a girl. She already had a son named

Post-Modernism Essay
In recent years, multiculturalism, tolerance and political correctness have been integrated into how
American society thinks. America seems to be trying to learn more about the ingredients of her
melting pot. These efforts can be best understood by examining post modernism. Post modernism is
especially important to breaking down stereotypes such as those that exist surrounding the black
family.
To understand post modernism we must first understand modernism. Modernism is the philosophy
that began with the Enlightenment. The Enlightenment was an era when science and art flourished.
European society used the Enlightenment to object to the oppression of the church. This era

The meta narrative for the black family is defined by the Western standards: income and education
and any other quantifiable unit.
The history of the black family is difficult to research according to Barnetta McGhee White
because there are few written documents to substantiate the oral history (Staples, 1991 p.50). In
terms of the prevailing meta narrative, familial ties must be documented by family trees. Black
families, due to the breakdown of the family through the slave trade, rely on oral history to tell the
story of their lineage (Staples, 1991, p 51). The genealogy of author Barnetta McGhee White helps
illustrate certain points. The first is that since a majority of the research into genealogy is
dependent on written documents dating into the founding years of this nation, these documents are
only telling what the writer wants the reader to know. The history of black families is told through
the story of the slaveholder and, thus, gives information relevant to the business of slavery
everything that measurable. Another point is that those in power in the past control the future. If
current society is viewed in chronicled terms, there is little control blacks can have over the
account of their family history because it will always be in terms of the dominant meta narrative
based on modernity. The conclusion to be made by the former points is that modern thought is to
blame for stereotypes against blacks.

The For A Jubilee During The Sizzling Summer Months
As the calm brackish waters lapse onto the shores of Point Clear to Daphne, many people are
hopeful for a Jubilee during the sizzling summer months. The neighbors of this community always
alert one another to the sound of bells ringing and the eager cries of Jubilee! Everyone will come
rushing down to the shore with their laundry baskets, gigs, nets, sacks, and almost anything you can
imagine in order to gather an abundant supply of seafood. This natural phenomenon has only been
known to occur regularly in Mobile, Alabama, and also across the world in Tokyo, Japan, which
testifies to its rarity. A Jubilee occurs when coincidental conditions in the bay result in
disoriented deep sea animals such as flounders, shrimps, crabs, and other sea creature are driven
to the shallow waters and into the nets of Mobile fishermen. The term Jubilee is often defined as
A season of rejoice. The term seems to be so positive; however, this event could potentially be
harmful to the fish. Let us first begin with the history of Jubilees. Records of the events have been

The Role Of Family And Caretakers Relationships
Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder that often leads to a disruptive lifestyle. It is a subgroup of
bipolar I which is manic and depressive episodes and bipolar II which is hypomanic and
depressive episodes. However, very little research has been done in terms of how this disorder
impacts family members and caretakers. The rationale behind this topic is to examine some of the
research done involving strengths and struggles of familyand caretakers relationships. The articles
that will be discussed include: Family Functioning in the Context of Parental Bipolar Disorder:
Association with Offspring Age, Sex, and Psychopathology, Relatives Emotional Involvement
Moderates the Effects of Family Therapy for Bipolar, and In sickness and in health: The
experiences of friends and relatives caring for people with manic depression.
While reading these articles I noticed many of them had similar themes. One of the common themes
throughout these articles is the need to continuously do more research and provide more resources
for the caretakers. Another recurring topic in the articles was the importance family relationships
have on the individual with bipolar disorder and their outcomes with treatment, along with how
these interactions affect the other members of the family. A strength that was present in each article
was the depth of detail presented in each study; this description will make it easier to replicate the
studies. These commonalities throughout the articles may be

The French Theorist Guy Debord
In 1967, the french theorist Guy Debord, outlined his concept for a future spectacle society,
whereby ..... Quote about capital . Presented as a treatise on the modern humman condition;
Society of the Spectacle is a piece that explores the contemporary effects of power, which it
seems in more recent times are becoming increasingly tied with the idea of a media and
consumer society; a system based off the production and consumption of images, information and
commodities. In the discourse of arhcitecture specifically, it seems Debords predictions have bled
into the culture of modern design, as expressed by Anthony Vidler: Recent proposals and debates
over the architectutural devlopment of ground zero have highlighted the way in which, over the
last two decades, the public role of architecture has been gradually reduced to the symbolic and
the emblematic. Its forms of expresion are no longer closely tied back to urban issues and
physical planning questions. (Toward a theory of the architectural program, antohny vidler, page 1)
These discussions and critiques, indeed, seem to bear out Guy Debords 1964 anticipation of an all
pervading spectacle culture where in essense, we have moved into a system of architecture
overinvested in symbolic form, where flash and bravura win out over contemplation . ( nordic from

U.s. Army s 516th Signal Brigade
Introduction With each passing year, current technologies continue to evolve or change while new
technology or innovations emerge that, in some instances, profoundly change markets, societies, or
ways of living. For all organizations, to include the military, the persistent change of technology
means that organizations must also evolve and change accordingly. Based on research by
Accenture s Paul Nunes and Tim Breene in 2011, only 7 percent of companies that cease to grow
ever survive over the long term, which serves as a strong warning for any organization about the
need to change. In addition to technological change, the military faces many other challenges as
well. The most significant challenges include budgetary constraints, mandated drawdowns in
personnel strength, and numerous mission demands across the globe. This is the greater context
facing the U.S. Army s 516th Signal Brigadebased in Hawaii. The 516th Signal Brigade consists
of 2,500 soldiers and federal employees responsible for the installation, operation, and defense of

Criticism Of Media Convergence
Media convergence in the digital era constructs a global flat earth , allowing for interaction of old
and new mediums across various media platforms. Technology has become an increasingly
dominant means of communication as it allows for information to be stored and shared across great
distances. Flew (2005) suggests that this globalisation permissible through digital and online
communication has effected cultural change. Individuals can communicate from any part of the
world, irrespective of physical and geographic barriers via an interactive digital mediaenvironment
across networked ICT Devices. Thus he suggests that new media is synonymous with digital media
and therein digitisation the translation of information into binary code,... Show more content on

Kindle s remediate books but improve certain features, inclusive of altering typography style and
size, offering highlighting tools, built in dictionaries and allowing the reader to purchase new
books through the device (Hitt 2013). Since its introduction in 2007, approximately 43.7 million
Kindle e readers have been sold as of late 2014 (Trefis Team 2014). The Kindle does not seek to
replace physical books; rather it uses technological convergence to store dense digital information
on small, portable physical spaces. This isn t to say that new mediums have replaced older formats
altogether; on the contrary, they have altered them to suit the change in how we communicate.
One could argue that the decline of traditional media at the hands of media convergence prompted
the incorrect presumption that old media was being superseded by the new (Lugmayr Dal Zotto
2015, pp. 4). Conversely, modern commentators have argued that new and old media interact
across different media forms and platforms. Jenkins asserts that new media technologies enabled
the same content to flow through many different channels and assume many different forms
(2006, pg. 10). Acland (2007) echoes this sentiment, reiterating that new digital media refashion
old media formats. Vogue is a global high fashion magazine with 304 000 Australian readers in

access to funding, control of business decisions, taxation and liability of the members. The options
available to the three persons include;
a.A General Partnership,
b.A Limited Partnership (LP)
c.A Limited Liability Company (LLC),
d.An S Corporation, and
e.A C Corporation.
I will now proceed to compare and contrast the various methods of organizing the proposed business
venture;
1.A General Partnership

Not only coaches, but parents are very aggressive when it comes to sports and it puts a lot of
pressure of the kids who play it and suck all the fun out of the love of the game. Children are
physically and verbally abused to be the best and can be discouraged at a very young age and
have low self esteem. Injuries are at an all time high and this is very dangerous for the
development of kids. Children face verbal and physical abuse at a young age because of overly
competitive parents and coaches and because of that, they never learn the most important thing
about playing sports, having fun. Youth sports have been around since the early to mid 1900s and
have become in institution, especially in North America. Sports such as baseball, hockey, football,

Real World Race
Race and The Real World Kraszewski writes in his chapter, Country Hicks and Urban Cliques,
that throughout its 20 season run, (now 30+ seasons) The Real World has brought to terms race
and reality through discursive tensions between urban and rural America, as well as liberal and
conservative politics. In class we discussed this issues more in depth of video clips of the each of
the tensions that Kraszewski describes in the chapter. The most prominentwhite rural figures such
as Julie, and later Julie from season 9 and Mike from season 10, cover significant discursive terrain
in the way the show addresses racism. Through mediations of casting, family practices, editing, and
narrative strategies, The Real World suggests that racism is a phenomenon located within rural
conservatives, not liberals with an urban feel. In the article Kraszewski uses the phrase urban feel
to call attention to the way MTV promotes a certain type of image so that rural viewers in the
Midwest can feel urban if the buy the right clothes and have the right attitude.
The Real World constructs a reality that frees the audience of any implications in racism by
blaming rural conservatives for the problem. And yet, these rural figures on the show contain a ...

Theme Of Katherina In The Taming Of The Shrew
In the Taming Of The Shrew, William Shakespeare directs Katherina to undergo a dramatic
attitude and personality change throughout the course of her marriage to Petruchio. In the time
of the play, women were expected to be loyal and obedient. Katherina began by challenging and
contradicting that perception, yet still gives into the demands of society and Petruchio by the
conclusion of the play. Petruchio humiliates and starves her, which shows his dominance in their
relationship and eventually persuades Katherina to give in to him and how he wants her to act.
Through the portrayal of Petruchio s character, Shakespeare shows how women were treated
badly and abused in mental, physical and emotional ways by their husbands in the
Shakespearean times. In various ways, Petruchio tames Katherina and as the play ends, it
becomes evident that she is now a normal wife for the Shakespearean era. On Petruchio s
wedding day, he instigates his first technique to tame Katherina by humiliating her in the public
eye. Before the two characters have even been legally wedded, Petruchio already begins his
process of taming Katherina, the wretched shrew . He does this at the day of the wedding, by
arriving late enough that everyone starts to worry whether or not Petruchio will arrive for his own
wedding. The guests perceive Katherina to have no emotions because she is thought to be a shrew
and so laugh at her when he arrives late. Now must the world point at poor Katherine, and say

European Collectors Of The 16th And 17th Centuries
European Collectors of the 16th and 17th Centuries:
Perhaps two of the most noteworthy art collections in the 1500 s were the collections of the
Medici, well know patrons of the arts and of many well known artists; also the Habsburgs of
Austria Known then as the Holy Roman emperors who were known for having an eclectic
collection ranging from scientific tools and exotic stuffed animals to religious artefacts and
Paintings. Then in the seventeenth century in Britain another famous collector comes forth,
Charles I who had a taste for art that showed the divine right of kings and had a love for Rubens
and Van Dyke s painting style. I have selected these Rulers due to the fact that they were not only
collectors but were also patrons of artworks which shows a complete devotion to art, not in just
admiring art from the past which had become noteworthy through the popularity of the artist; but
because the encouraged contemporary artists, and as such had a lasting impact on art despite them
not being directly behind the works.
The Medici family were the rulers of Florence during the Renaissance due to their influence in
banking. They were well known for their patronage to artists, some famous artist being Donatello,
Michelangelo, Raphael and Leonardo da Vinci. The vast commissions of artworks started out as
being for atonement for the sin of usury, however as the Renaissance moved on and art started to
reflect the change in attitude towards subject matter; going from the focus

Philosophies Of Sister Carrie By Theodore Dreiser
Austin Ricco
Professor Sloan
American Realism
11/20/16 Philosophies of Sister
Carrie

There are few writers that could create a body of work that encompasses as many concepts as
Theodore Dreiser s Sister Carrie. His novel follows the life and times of Carrie, a country bell of
sorts who abandons her way of life in favor of a city lifestyle. Through through Carries progress,
Dreiser embodies many philosophies of intelligence, experience, and personal growth. Many great
philosophers have touched subjects that are apparent in Dreiser s work. Sister Carrie epitomizes
many ideas defined by great thinkers such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Lev S. Vygotsky, and Aristotle.
Eleanor Roosevelt once said that Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small
minds discuss people. Dreiser clearly hoped to convey a similar message in this novel. At the
beginning of Carrie s journey she converses with a man named Chas. H. Drouet And so this is
your first visit to Chicago, he observed.
All the time she was conscious of certain features out of the side of her eye. Flush, colorful cheeks,
a light mustache, a gray fedora hat. She now turned and looked upon him in full, the instincts of self
protection and coquetry mingling confusedly in her brain.
I didn t say that, she said.
Oh, he answered in a very pleasing way and with an assumed air of mistake. I thought you did.
It becomes very apparent that Carrie involves herself in people; however we get a sense of her

Essay about James Lovell
James A. Lovell, captain in the United States Navy was born on March 25, 1928 in Cleveland,
Ohio. His parents are James Arthur Senior and Blanch Lovell. You may have heard of James
Lovell through the popular movie recently made named Apollo 13 . Well, there is more to learn
about Lovell than a movie about his dramatic journey back to Earth in 1970. Believe it or not he
did do quite a bit more in his life that many people do not know about. Hopefully through reading
this report you will learn many more facts about James A. Lovell.
Lovell s interest in flying dated clear back into his early childhood. He loved to build rockets as a
child. Though many of his first rockets were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You probably have no idea what significance the Gemini Seven mission has in American Space
history. It was a record breaking mission at the time! The astronauts were in space for two
weeks. It may not seem like very much now, but back in December of 1965 this was totally
amazing! In order to understand why this event is so important you have to imagine what it was
like back in 1965. No one had landed on the moon yet, so we were still in a space race with the
Russians. At that time we had done something that the Russians had not accomplished, and in
1965 the thought of going to space was a lot more radical than it is now. Also while they were up
in space they pioneered the first rendezvous with another space vessel. So in one mission, they and
Gemini Six had broken two records!
Lovell was launched into space for a second time on November 11, 1966. Edwin Aldrin
accompanied him. On this mission Lovell and Aldrin circumnavigated the Earth fifty nine times
in four days. What was special about this mission was the knowledge that was gained on walking
in space. During their flight, Lovell took three space walks and learned very much about the
restraints that are needed to perform a space walk. He paid very close attention to what type of
restraints worked the best for certain jobs that needed to be done on the exterior of the spacecraft.
While on one of his walks, Lovell took the

Neuroblastoma Biology Essay
A major player in neuroblastoma biology is MYC, it is normally contained within our cells and is
a large protein that functions as a transcription factor. MYC is known to be a proto oncogene
which normally activates gene expression, it can also repress it depending on what gene it sits on.
Myc belongs to a family of related human genes which are known through (Hart et al 2010) to have
evolved from primordial myc like genes found in Drosophila and Hydra, these include; c MYC,
MYC N and MYC L. The expression of c Myc is seen in all tissues whereas MYCN is expressed in
the nervous system and MYC L is found initially in the lungs. Myc proteins are basic helix loop
helix (HLH) leucine zipper transcription factors by which MYCN and c Myc share ... Show more

Inhibition of this pathway was seen to decrease the neuroblastoma tumour mass as well as the
oncogene MYCN protein expression, and in neuroblastoma cells lines the use of AKT specific
inhibitors induced apoptotic cell death. Another pathway relevant to MYCN is the glycogen
synthase kinase 3 (GSK3) pathway which is known to be involved in a large number of signalling
pathways [e.g., Wnt, PI3K/Akt, mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK), and p53], many of
which are associated with the neural crest. Wnt signalling is known to be crucial in the induction,
delamination and differentiation of the neural crest and GSK3 is seen to be a negative mediator of
this pathway. Mammalian GSK3 is generated from two genes GSK3О± and GSK3ОІ, GSK3ОІ
phosphorylates and stabilizes the MYCN protein, this in turn can enable the dephosphorylation of a
different site that can lead to MYCN degradation.
The cell cycle and cell differentiation are processes where they appear to be regulated by sensitive
molecular mechanisms such as cyclins. Cell division mechanisms involve protein kinases and their
activators which are necessary for the cell cycle to proceed. The protein kinases are modulated by
signals that involve changes in the expression patterns of these kinases, post translational
modifications and

  • 2. Notes On Bond And Bond Rating Introduction to bond and bond ratings A bond is a form of debt in which you loan your money to a company, city, or government and in return they agree to return the money to you after an agreed upon time, with payments of interest to you while they hold your money (Wall Street Journal, 2015). There are many different kinds of bonds, and they are sold to fund various different projects. Bonds are seen as a safe investment and also offer investors a steady stream of income from the interest payments. Although this may be the case for some bonds, it isn t the case for all bonds that are issued. This is where the bondratings system comes into play. Bond rating is a system used to provide investors with an idea of the risk they are taking... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ratings for bonds are provided by three major rating agencies: Standard Poor s Corporation, Moody s Investors Services and Fitch s Investor Services (Brigham Houston). Each use quantitative and qualitative information to ensure that an accurate rating has been provided to investors. Factors that determine bond ratings When a rating agency examines a firm s bonds, they must look at various different factors that will help to paint a much larger picture of the financial health of the firm. An agency will use quantitative factors to look at the history of the firm and while using qualitative factors to look to the future stability of a firm and its ability to follow through on its contractual obligations to bond holders (Brigham Houston, 2013) The quantitative factors an analyst would use include ratios that evaluate the company s ability to payout what s owed to bondholders. These ratios include the total debt to total capital ratio, which verifies the amount of capital provided by debt holders, and the times interest earned ratio, which evaluates a company s ability to pay out interest owed to bondholders (Brigham Houston, 2013). This information can then be used to help create forecasted financial statements, which shed light on the ability to not only meet current liabilities, but to continue to meet them for years to come. The qualitative factors are based on the quality of the firm, the product, and the leadership. This can include ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rwandan Genocide And Ethnic Conflict I.Introduction On April 6 1994, following the death of president Juvenal Habyarimana, the state of Rwanda was hurled into chaos as genocides took the lives of 800,000 people . Began by the Hutu political elite and its military support, their main targets were the Tutsi, and Hutu moderates. Many have claimed ethnic hatred as the reason of the Rwanda Genocide and while an ethnic split existed in Rwanda during the conflict, the causes for the genocide are numerous and complicated. In examining the Rwanda Genocide as an ethnic conflict it is crucial that ethnicity be inspected as it affected and was affected by economic, political and social elements. The problem for explaining the brutality in Rwanda as an ethnic conflict is that as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... II.Ethnicity in Conflict Although some ethnic identities were founded on inherent biological, cultural, or racial traits dividing lines have mostly changed. On the contrary, the characteristics of ethnic groups are enormously personal and have undertaken a presumed identity . As much as ethnicity is distinguished by a mutual identity inside a specific group, it is concurrently explained by its differences with other groups. While constituents of an ethnic group take part in an identity founded on a mutual characteristic or opinion, their ethnic attributes (such as language, race, religion) are normally not all the same, and if they are, these characteristics independently are not distinct to that group. The difference in the amalgamation of characteristics that shapes an ethnic identity signifies that a person normally shares mutuality with more than one ethnic group. Moreover, what are the fixed dividing lines that determine an ethnic group when its constituents have mutual characteristics with one other, but as well with other groups? The ethnic label subsumes a number of simultaneous characteristics which no doubt cluster statistically, but which are not absolutely interdependent and connected . As the discussion on ethnic conflict proceeds to grow, it has possibly grown more and more onerous to establish a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Management by exception is a strict structured way of leading as these are the kind of leaders which focus on the role of supervision, organization and group performance. • 5. The NFL Protests Of The National Anthem NFL Protests of the National Anthem The National Football League players who are kneeling for the national anthem are disrespecting our country and what it stands for. Our flag stands for freedom and liberty. The players should respect that. Before every NFL game, the flag is brought out by an Honor Guard. This is part of a time honored ceremony intended to present our nation s colors (the flag) and National Anthem in a respectful manner. By kneeling during the national anthem, they are disrespecting the flag, the national anthem, all our nation stands for, the people currently serving in the armed forces and all of those who gave their lives in our nation s service. As a result of all the players or coaches kneeling, long time NFL fans are burning jerseys, cancelling season tickets, not showing up for games, not watching games, and canceling the NFL Sunday ticket and well they should. The players claim they are simply exercising their 1st Amendment Rights. The players are wrong. The Freedom of Speech Clause of the 1st Amendment to the United States Constitution only protects people from Government attempts to restrict their speech. The NFL is not the government. The NFL is a private entity that has the right to stop its representatives (players) from violating its rules. This is why the NFL can require players to wear pink for breast cancer awareness or stop players from wearing 911 Memorials or fine players for celebrating in the end zone. The NFL operations manual requires the players to stand for the National Anthem with their right hand over their heart, their helmet in the left hand, while facing the Flag. Therefore, the players have no right to kneel during the National Anthem. All the NFL needs to do to end this nonsense is enforce the rules the players already agreed to follow. NFL football players have no greater right to protest on the football field than an employee at Wal Mart has to take a knee on aisle seven. Employers have the right to stop political speech on their premises or while employees are on the clock (there are some exceptions, but these do not apply). The NFL operations manual simply makes the league s rules similar Federal law. Federal law (commonly referred to as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This song was evolved from Hey Jules , a song that Paul McCartney created in a car to comfort John Lennon s son, Julian, when his parents divorced. Later, Paul McCartney decided to change Jules to Jude because it sounded better , and also probably because he was afraid John Lennon, also a core member of The Beatles, aside from being Julian s father, would be offended, quit the group, and make The Beatles disband. Indeed, the rumors say that Hey Jude was one of the reasons that John Lennon quit The Beatles later. But only Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are alive today. Hey Jude was one of the songs that The Beatles never put into an album, alongside Can t Buy Me Love . The Beatles started as a small group in Liverpool. They traveled around the globe, and with Brian Epstein as their manager they went along as a seamless team. But when Brian Epstein died of drug overdose, the members quickly started to fall apart, and ended up getting disbanded. Many people wonder what type of tactical tricks did the unit use and how they knew about it. Actually, the U.S. army got these ideas of the plan of deception from The first President of the United States: George Washington. Washington practiced deception as an art rather than a science. Now the Ghost army was using this Art to fool the Germans ( Ghost Soldier magazine ). The art of tactical deception was their best skill. They wanted to mislead the enemy forces that were going to fall for the tanks and the fake attacks that they were presenting. The commander of the unit had to assign the recruits positions so that each designer and artist would know what to operate: the speakers manipulating gunshot sounds and explosions or the inflatable tank balloons meant to deceive the enemy into thinking a real unit was closeby. The commander created a group called the Effect group, and they would be operating the important equipment in the operation ( Ghost Army Tricked Hitler ). What exactly, though, did the Ghost Army do on the battlefield? One soldier, Jack Massey, commented, We were told we were going to be using inflatable equipment to try and fool the Germans into thinking that we were a real army, when we were in effect, I suppose, a rubber army (www.npr.org). They are all set and ready to go into action, they start their journey through the woods and into a field. Substance dualism is the belief that the mind and the body are separate entities, consequently, an argument for dualism is that i. minds can experience anger, ii. Nothing physical can experience anger and therefore, minds are not physical. In this examination my goal is to show that minds are physical. I will argue against the second premise, showing that the mindis the brain, which is physical. I will do so by referring to the functionalist school of thought and additionally, by examining the functioning of the brain with regard to research on neuroscience. Furthermore, I will exhibit that substance dualist Rene Descartes work on non human animals is inconsistent with research that shows the existence of mental states in non human animals, thus confirming that minds are physical. Functionalism is the belief that a mental state, such as pain, is to have an internal state which does a certain job (Ravenscroft, 2005, p. 50). For example, the pain that a human being feels and the pain that an octopus feels may have different physical processes within the brain, but the pain is still being felt; in other words, to be in (or have) mental state M is to have an internal state which does the M job (Ravenscroft, 2005, p. 51). • 16. Contemporary Issues Facing The Church Contemporary Issues Facing the Church I believe we exist for one purpose. That purpose is to worship and reflect our Heavenly Father. He has given His instructions to us in the Bible. The Bible tells of how we are to administer the church, how we are to worship in the church and who is to have roles in the church. What are the biblical principles for administration in a local church? Gilbert Bilezikian gives four areas that need to be addressed when administering the church here on earth, 1. A shared faith, 2. A share purpose, 3. A shared lifestyle and 4. A shared authority (Bilezikian, 1993, p. 195 197). A shared faith is noted in Ephesians 4:5 where Gods people are told to have one Lord, one faith, one baptism (NIV). Gilbert tells his readers, every church needs to formuloate clearly its understanding of the Christian faith ( (Bilezikian, 1993, p. 195). With this written statement everyone within the church will have a common ground from which to govern, with all people knowing what the belief of that church is. I believe without an idea of what the church wants to accomplish they must have a statement of purpose. Ephesians tells us In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will (Ephesians 1:11, NIV). This tells me that the church needs to prayerfully commune with God to discover what purpose He has for us and then make that purpose into a statement of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Black families, due to the breakdown of the family through the slave trade, rely on oral history to tell the story of their lineage (Staples, 1991, p 51). The genealogy of author Barnetta McGhee White helps illustrate certain points. The first is that since a majority of the research into genealogy is dependent on written documents dating into the founding years of this nation, these documents are only telling what the writer wants the reader to know. The history of black families is told through the story of the slaveholder and, thus, gives information relevant to the business of slavery everything that measurable. Another point is that those in power in the past control the future. If current society is viewed in chronicled terms, there is little control blacks can have over the account of their family history because it will always be in terms of the dominant meta narrative based on modernity. The conclusion to be made by the former points is that modern thought is to blame for stereotypes against blacks. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. The For A Jubilee During The Sizzling Summer Months As the calm brackish waters lapse onto the shores of Point Clear to Daphne, many people are hopeful for a Jubilee during the sizzling summer months. The neighbors of this community always alert one another to the sound of bells ringing and the eager cries of Jubilee! Everyone will come rushing down to the shore with their laundry baskets, gigs, nets, sacks, and almost anything you can imagine in order to gather an abundant supply of seafood. This natural phenomenon has only been known to occur regularly in Mobile, Alabama, and also across the world in Tokyo, Japan, which testifies to its rarity. A Jubilee occurs when coincidental conditions in the bay result in disoriented deep sea animals such as flounders, shrimps, crabs, and other sea creature are driven to the shallow waters and into the nets of Mobile fishermen. The term Jubilee is often defined as A season of rejoice. The term seems to be so positive; however, this event could potentially be harmful to the fish. Let us first begin with the history of Jubilees. Records of the events have been recorded in early newspapers and by memory of a few old timers. According to the article Extensive OxygenDepletion in Mobile Bay, Alabama written by Edwin B. May, it is difficult to search for records of these incidents because the term Jubilee was not applied to this natural phenomenon until the early 1900s. The earliest account of a Jubilee was found in The Daily Register in Mobile on July 17, 1876; however, even then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a subgroup of bipolar I which is manic and depressive episodes and bipolar II which is hypomanic and depressive episodes. However, very little research has been done in terms of how this disorder impacts family members and caretakers. The rationale behind this topic is to examine some of the research done involving strengths and struggles of familyand caretakers relationships. The articles that will be discussed include: Family Functioning in the Context of Parental Bipolar Disorder: Association with Offspring Age, Sex, and Psychopathology, Relatives Emotional Involvement Moderates the Effects of Family Therapy for Bipolar, and In sickness and in health: The experiences of friends and relatives caring for people with manic depression. While reading these articles I noticed many of them had similar themes. One of the common themes throughout these articles is the need to continuously do more research and provide more resources for the caretakers. Another recurring topic in the articles was the importance family relationships have on the individual with bipolar disorder and their outcomes with treatment, along with how these interactions affect the other members of the family. A strength that was present in each article was the depth of detail presented in each study; this description will make it easier to replicate the studies. Presented as a treatise on the modern humman condition; Society of the Spectacle is a piece that explores the contemporary effects of power, which it seems in more recent times are becoming increasingly tied with the idea of a media and consumer society; a system based off the production and consumption of images, information and commodities. In the discourse of arhcitecture specifically, it seems Debords predictions have bled into the culture of modern design, as expressed by Anthony Vidler: Recent proposals and debates over the architectutural devlopment of ground zero have highlighted the way in which, over the last two decades, the public role of architecture has been gradually reduced to the symbolic and the emblematic. Its forms of expresion are no longer closely tied back to urban issues and physical planning questions. (Toward a theory of the architectural program, antohny vidler, page 1) These discussions and critiques, indeed, seem to bear out Guy Debords 1964 anticipation of an all pervading spectacle culture where in essense, we have moved into a system of architecture overinvested in symbolic form, where flash and bravura win out over contemplation . Army s 516th Signal Brigade Introduction With each passing year, current technologies continue to evolve or change while new technology or innovations emerge that, in some instances, profoundly change markets, societies, or ways of living. For all organizations, to include the military, the persistent change of technology means that organizations must also evolve and change accordingly. Based on research by Accenture s Paul Nunes and Tim Breene in 2011, only 7 percent of companies that cease to grow ever survive over the long term, which serves as a strong warning for any organization about the need to change. In addition to technological change, the military faces many other challenges as well. The most significant challenges include budgetary constraints, mandated drawdowns in personnel strength, and numerous mission demands across the globe. This is the greater context facing the U.S. Army s 516th Signal Brigadebased in Hawaii. The 516th Signal Brigade consists of 2,500 soldiers and federal employees responsible for the installation, operation, and defense of tactical and strategic information technology (IT) networks for the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater (from Japan to Alaska). The Kindle does not seek to replace physical books; rather it uses technological convergence to store dense digital information on small, portable physical spaces. This isn t to say that new mediums have replaced older formats altogether; on the contrary, they have altered them to suit the change in how we communicate. One could argue that the decline of traditional media at the hands of media convergence prompted the incorrect presumption that old media was being superseded by the new (Lugmayr Dal Zotto 2015, pp. 4). Conversely, modern commentators have argued that new and old media interact across different media forms and platforms. Jenkins asserts that new media technologies enabled the same content to flow through many different channels and assume many different forms (2006, pg. 10). Acland (2007) echoes this sentiment, reiterating that new digital media refashion old media formats. Through mediations of casting, family practices, editing, and narrative strategies, The Real World suggests that racism is a phenomenon located within rural conservatives, not liberals with an urban feel. In the article Kraszewski uses the phrase urban feel to call attention to the way MTV promotes a certain type of image so that rural viewers in the Midwest can feel urban if the buy the right clothes and have the right attitude. • 38. Theme Of Katherina In The Taming Of The Shrew In the Taming Of The Shrew, William Shakespeare directs Katherina to undergo a dramatic attitude and personality change throughout the course of her marriage to Petruchio. In the time of the play, women were expected to be loyal and obedient. Katherina began by challenging and contradicting that perception, yet still gives into the demands of society and Petruchio by the conclusion of the play. Petruchio humiliates and starves her, which shows his dominance in their relationship and eventually persuades Katherina to give in to him and how he wants her to act. Through the portrayal of Petruchio s character, Shakespeare shows how women were treated badly and abused in mental, physical and emotional ways by their husbands in the Shakespearean times. In various ways, Petruchio tames Katherina and as the play ends, it becomes evident that she is now a normal wife for the Shakespearean era. On Petruchio s wedding day, he instigates his first technique to tame Katherina by humiliating her in the public eye. Before the two characters have even been legally wedded, Petruchio already begins his process of taming Katherina, the wretched shrew . He does this at the day of the wedding, by arriving late enough that everyone starts to worry whether or not Petruchio will arrive for his own wedding. 11/20/16 Philosophies of Sister Carrie
There are few writers that could create a body of work that encompasses as many concepts as Theodore Dreiser s Sister Carrie. His novel follows the life and times of Carrie, a country bell of sorts who abandons her way of life in favor of a city lifestyle. Through through Carries progress, Dreiser embodies many philosophies of intelligence, experience, and personal growth. Many great philosophers have touched subjects that are apparent in Dreiser s work. Sister Carrie epitomizes many ideas defined by great thinkers such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Lev S. Vygotsky, and Aristotle. Eleanor Roosevelt once said that Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people. Dreiser clearly hoped to convey a similar message in this novel. At the beginning of Carrie s journey she converses with a man named Chas. H. It may not seem like very much now, but back in December of 1965 this was totally amazing! In order to understand why this event is so important you have to imagine what it was like back in 1965. No one had landed on the moon yet, so we were still in a space race with the Russians. At that time we had done something that the Russians had not accomplished, and in 1965 the thought of going to space was a lot more radical than it is now. Also while they were up in space they pioneered the first rendezvous with another space vessel. So in one mission, they and Gemini Six had broken two records! Myc belongs to a family of related human genes which are known through (Hart et al 2010) to have evolved from primordial myc like genes found in Drosophila and Hydra, these include; c MYC, MYC N and MYC L. Inhibition of this pathway was seen to decrease the neuroblastoma tumour mass as well as the oncogene MYCN protein expression, and in neuroblastoma cells lines the use of AKT specific inhibitors induced apoptotic cell death. Another pathway relevant to MYCN is the glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK3) pathway which is known to be involved in a large number of signalling pathways [e.g., Wnt, PI3K/Akt, mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK), and p53], many of which are associated with the neural crest. Wnt signalling is known to be crucial in the induction, delamination and differentiation of the neural crest and GSK3 is seen to be a negative mediator of this pathway. Mammalian GSK3 is generated from two genes GSK3О± and GSK3ОІ, GSK3ОІ phosphorylates and stabilizes the MYCN protein, this in turn can enable the dephosphorylation of a different site that can lead to MYCN degradation. The cell cycle and cell differentiation are processes where they appear to be regulated by sensitive molecular mechanisms such as cyclins.
