Assessing the Claim that Religion is a Conservative Force
The view that religion acts as a conservative force in society is usually linked mainly with the Marxist
approach. Marx argued that the bourgeoisie (the ruling class) used religious ideas as part of the
ideological state apparatus , this referring to those institutions that served to conceal the capitalist
exploitation of the proletariats (the working class) and at the same time make them believe, under
false pretences, that society functioned in a fair and meritocratic way. This Marxist approach can be
identified within many religious hymns; this Victorian hymn is one of many which highlight the
Marxist view;

Even those that are right at the bottom of society, often referred to as untouchables , had an incentive
to put up with their lot uncomplainingly, in expectation of being one rung up in the caste ladder in
their next life. Although the caste was outlawed by the British under colonial rule in India, it still
persisted, especially in more rural areas, and the length of time or which is lasted is an accredited
example of how religious ideas can act as a conservative force in society.
Marx also quoted that religion was the opium of the people , meaning that religion acted like a drug
helping people to cope with pain and suffering in their life brought about by exploitation. If religion
acts as opium, deadening the pain, then this is also helping to stop social change, as the masses will
have some comfort from their suffering and be able to put up with it.
It could be argued that Durkheim, who focuses on a functionalist perspective, also views religion as a
conservative force. For Durkheim, religion acts as the moral glue that holds society together, and its
rituals and teachings help to reinforce the shared norms and values that he believes were essential to
keep society free from destructive conflict. Durkheim, in fact, also believed that religion served to
maintain the inequalities in society, where Marx saw

Day One: When Other Land first opens, the average customer has the opportunity to enjoy the rides
and other attractions that are traditionally open. Because the park has numerous themes such as the
Medieval Faire, International Street and Action Zone, it has the ability to draw the customers into a
cultural and symbolic experience14. In addition to that, in anticipation of the new Guardians of the
Galaxy movie releasing in the first week of May 2017, the park will be selling specific merchandise
and licensing an inspired photo booth where friends can take memorable pictures15. This licensing

The Implementation Phase
Obtaining Resources: Once this project proposal is approved by management, a marketing team must
be assigned to begin working towards a licensing deal with Marvel, sponsorship and promotional
partnership with Coca Cola and Cineplex, and contact Drake s booking agent to confirm his
involvement in Other Land31. Once these tasks have been properly delegated, an IMC timeline must
be created to track progress.
Projected Financial Brief
Estimated Revenue: The financial projections followed an average attendance scenario. This assumed
that per day, approximately 68,000 customers will attend Other Land (refer to exhibit 4 for an outline
of different attendance scenarios). If that is the case, per day, with an average ticket price of $135,
ticket sales result in a total revenue of $9,180,000. Overall, this would add up to a ticket sales revenue
of $27,540,000 for the three days. Other revenue streams such as Guardians of the Galaxy
merchandise, photo booth sales, concession stand foods, alcohol sales from Day Two, Coca Cola
sponsorship, and Cineplex promotional partnership result in an additional $7,223,400 over the three
days. (Please

Use Of Renewable Resources For Alternative Fuels
Current transportation is heavily dependent on fossil fuels such as oil, gas, and coal. Petroleum based
fuels such as gasoline and diesel fuel, the most commonly used fossil fuels, are causing increasing
global concern because petroleum is a finite resource. This means that as the amount of available
petroleum decreases over time, the need for alternative fuels will increase. This is an important matter
because it affects global energy security, food security, the environment, and economies. With
governments around the world attempting to cope with increasing greenhouse gas emissions, the
world is turning to cleaner, more efficient energy use and the use of renewable resources to address air
pollution, global warming, and climate change. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the global population continuously increasing, the use of farmland and grains for the world s
food supply will be competing with the use of the same land for biofuel production, which may lead to
an increase in food prices around the world.
Global bioethanol and biodiesel production has significantly increased over the last 14 years. It is
possible that biofuels produced from crops using conventional agricultural methods will increase the
stresses on water supplies, water quality, and land use, compared to petroleum fuels. There would be
agricultural competition between food crops and energy crops for resources such as land and water.
Agricultural expansion due to increased prices of foods would place further stress on water supplies
due to increased irrigation. Population growth, climate change, and natural disasters also place
additional stress on water supplies, but these factors are already at play and natural disasters may be
unpredictable (Koh and Ghazoul, 2008). Increasing biofuel production will affect the biogeophysical
capabilities of soil due to changes in land use and may affect the nitrogen cycle due to increased use of
nitrogen fertilizer (Delucchi, 2010). Recent research into using wood and grass for cellulosic ethanol
production may be fruitful as most of these crops can be grown on agriculturally degraded land

Paradox Of Meno And Meno
The Paradox of Inquiry is also known as Meno s Paradox, there are a few interpretations to this
dialogue which can appear to be quite challenging to understand. In the Paradox, Socrates and Meno
are inquiring into the term virtue and what the definition of virtue might be. Socrates postulates three
possible options of acquiring knowledge in the Meno; finding out for yourself, learning from someone
else or by a divine inspiration. My thesis is that .......
Meno questions Scorates about how he will search for virtue and know what it is MENO: How will
you look for it Socrates, when you don t know at all what it is? How will you aim to search for
something you do not know at all? If you should meet with it, how will you know that this is ... Show

Therefore, knowledge does dissolve the paradox and belief doesn t according to Socrates. Pre existing
knowledge dissolves the paradox in two main ways, one being that we can consciously not know
things but recollect our previous knowledge and therefore recognise when we ve found them and the
other being we can know things through pre existing knowledge and still search for them. In the
paradox, Meno insists on Socrates proving that learning is simply recollecting information.
Socrates begins to dissolve the paradox by stating that the soul is in fact immortal. Our souls go
through a process of anamnesis which is simply just recollecting previous information. To prove that
our souls have past experiences from multiple lives, he presents Meno with a scenario involving a
slave boy and a simple geometric inquiry. In short, Socrates tries to prove that even a slave boy who
appears to have no knowledge, can work out a simple geometric problem. The slave boy at first gives
a few wrong answers and Socrates had to ask follow up questions to bring the slave boy to the right
answer, however in no way did Socrates give the slave boy the answer from his recollection of past
experiences, the slave boy managed to correct himself and come to the right answer on his own.
Therefore, we have pre existing information in our souls and it is only a matter of remembering past
information.
It may seem as though Socrates dissolved the paradox of inquiry

Evaluation Of Mentoring Programs For The United States
Jordan Woltjer
11/16/2016
Course Project Part 2
Matz shows that mentoring programs were first instituted in the U.S. in the late 19th century as an
alternative to incarceration to be used in Juvenile Courts under the supervision of probation officers
(2014). According to Matz, these sentencing policies were inspired by the progressive era s focus on
alleviating the mass poverty that was caused by industrialization, immigration, and urbanization
(2014). Blakeslee and Keller state that The highly renowned Big Brothers Big Sisters of America
(BBBS) mentoring program, for example, began in 1904 in New York City and today consists of over
375 agencies serving more than 210,000 youth across the United States (2012). Matz (2014) argues
that though mentoring programs are compatible with a large range of sociological and criminological
theories, that their creation was motivated by a theoretically undeveloped humanitarian instinct that
pervaded the Progressive Era. Despite this, we can still use the empirical evidence of BBBS programs
to test theoretical perspectives such as Differential Association.
The BBBS program matches at risk youth between the ages of 6 and 18 with a volunteer mentor
whose prior screening demonstrated that they are capable of providing socialization to curb
delinquency and anti social behavior (Limber, 2001). Susan Jekielek says that The Big Brothers/Big
Sisters program takes applications from volunteers in the community and subjects each Mentor to an

Applying this process in a classroom may look like showing students the mnemonic techniques in
Multiplication in a Flash that teaches the zero, one, two, five, and nine times tables with at least two
other different strategies and then allowing the children can choose the one they like best. Once the
students have been introduced to strategies for solving the remaining multiplication facts, pictures,
stories, and rhymes could be shown that are the second part of the Multiplication in a Flash program.
This could be a strengthening and helpful aid for students to be able to memorize their multiplication
tables. Imagine the procedures of this program; first students learning strategies to solve multiplication
facts, and then this program is added in as an aid or reinforcement. An observation of this process
would hopefully look like an activity or review to reinforce the concepts of the multiplication facts
students should have already grasped. The strategies from the program could easily be introduced
while teaching the multiplication facts and wouldn t take much time to implement. The strategies
could be used in centers because most of them are stories or have activities attached to them. This
definitely sounds like a beneficial

What Is John Bowlby Attachment Theory
Attachment theory. In 1958, John Bowlby proposed the idea of attachment theory (McLeod, 2009).
This theory identifies the infant s need to seek closeness and proximity with the caregiver when he/she
feels scared or threatened. The caregiver provides safety and security. The caregiver and infant s
relationship form four possible attachment styles: secure, avoidant, ambivalent/anxious, and
disorganized (McLeod, 2009). Secure attachment occurs when the caregiver meets the child s needs.
The child feels safe and secure. In contrast, avoidant attachment occurs when the caregiver is
emotionally avoidant, insensitive, and unaware of the child s needs. In this case, the child learns to
care for himself/herself. Avoidant attachment children become independent

Flanders Fields Poetry Analysis
Poetry is a great way to reflect on events. When discussing War World I, it is hard to imagine how
tough things really were. Poems can speak to you just like songs do. I believe poetry accurately
conveys the true horrors from this time. Poems give you a chance to see through the eyes of the poet.
As I was looking through poems from World War I, one really caught my attention. In Flanders Fields
by John McRae. This poem is heartfelt and is filled with powerful meaning that is written from the
fallen soldier s point of view. It s about the soldiers who sacrificed themselves during the war.
However, the soldiers want everyone to keep fighting instead of feeling sorrow.
John McRae was a physician and a teacher who served in the First World War. This famous poem was
written after his close friend was killed during the war. According to The Story of John McCrae, he
was not the same after the War, he became angry and disillusioned. The fighting and deaths took a
deep toll on his soul. He felt that he should have done more to help during this hard time.
He felt he should have made greater sacrifices, and insisted on living in a tent through the year, like
his comrades at the front, rather than in the officers huts. When this affected his health in mid winter
he had to be ordered into warmer surroundings. To many he gave the impression that he felt he should
still be with his old artillery brigade. After the battle of Ypres he was never again the optimistic man
with the infectious

The Snap ( Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program ) And...
The SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and WIC (Women, Infants, Children)
programs both have similar jobs. Both programs attempt to help feed struggling families. In the past
SNAP allowed members to purchase food staples and prepackaged food, but a recent bill is being
made in order to address these rules. These changes will deactivate members abilities to purchase
prepackaged food, and has limited them to purchase only food staples. These food staples included
foods such as rice, bread, fruits, etc. While the desired new rules for SNAP are similar to the current
rules of WIC, the bill will also attempt to allow members of WIC to purchase white potatoes in
addition to their food staples. Multiple commodities economic standing will experience larger impacts
on supply and demand from this proposed bill s changes and implications. As SNAP shifts to strictly
staple foods, the economic impacts will implement changes on the supply and demand of rice. In the
short run the price of rice will rise and the demand curve of rice will shift outward. This effect will
take place because of SNAP s proposed limitations. If the members of SNAP are limited to only food
staples they will find themselves demanding more rice than before. This shift will cause an upward
movement along the supply curve. There will be an increase in the quantity of rice supplied in the long
run because the demand will have grown from the limitations placed on SNAP consumers that

Papa John s Case Study Essays
Introduction
The Papa John s case provides a classic example of a company that entered a highly saturated and
mature market and was able to enjoy immense growth and success due to its creative product
differentiation strategy. The company s motto has been consistent from the day the first restaurant was
opened: Superior ingredients and a superior product from its competitors. John Schnatter took the
basic concept of product differentiation and positioning to new heights as he created a strong global
brand, which had an unprecedented track record of success and customer loyalty over its competitor s
pizza products.

Buyers: While the original strategy was to offer only high quality pizza, customer preferences began
to shift gradually which required expanded menu options for items to complement pizza such as
desserts and other creative menu items. Declining sales in the quick service and sit down restaurant
dining increased the propensity for people to cook more meals at home as well.
Substitutes: The quality of substitutes for pizza (frozen pizza and other cheaper alternative brands) had
also evolved to a point to which the additional price for consumers to pay a premium for Papa John s
pizza pies was being questioned.
Volatility in pricing of key Ingredients: The volatility in the price of cheese is mentioned in the case as
a key factor that caused major problems for Papa John s as it contributed to as much as 40% of a
location s ingredient costs.
Papa John s Strategy: Differentiation via Product over Price
As mentioned earlier, the pizza market was already a mature market at the time Papa John s opened its
first store in Indiana in 1985. In such conditions where competition is fierce, most entrants choose to
compete on price in order to achieve growth and capture market share. From the beginning, Papa John
s chose to compete on quality, customer service, and creative marketing a stark contrast with its
competition that were largely differentiating on price.

Often times when in conversation with friends, peers, and even strangers there is one question that
seems to always come up; What is your favorite restaurant? People are curious in seeing what type of
restaurant you like because when revealing that information it tells more about you than you think.
When telling somebody where you enjoy eating it gives them a sense of how much you re willing to

There are so many different restaurants serving so many different types of food. There are Chinese
restaurants, Japanese restaurants, Classic American restaurants, Italian restaurants, it makes it difficult
to decide what to eat at dinner time. What gives a restaurant the upper hand over its competition?
The Cheesecake factory has some key strengths that keeps it running at a high level. The Cheesecake
Factory has a low employee turnover rate. That means that once they hire somebody the person
usually keeps the job for a long time. Of course you have situations and instances where some
employees have to be let go for whatever reason, but when you check your numbers as to how many
had to go verses how many are still working in good standings, you have to tip your hat to your
employment staff. Another strength of the Cheesecake Factory is that they have such a large variety of
dishes and desserts. Variety is key when in the restaurant business because many times there are so
many other restaurant that are serving the same style, if not the same exact dishes as you. The
Cheesecake factory have hundreds of different cheesecakes to choose from. You will not find another
restaurant with that much variety in their desserts. Their main courses and appetizers follow suit with
amazingly large selection. One more advantage of the Cheesecake Factory is its ability to appeal to
various kinds of people; in other words, location location location!!! The

Hermia s Speech By William Shakespeare
Hermia s speech in Act 2, Scene 2, contains an abundance of dream imagery. She has awoken from a
terrible dream after falling asleep in the forest with Lysander. They were lost and tired and decided to
rest. Lysander wanted to sleep beside her but she refused since they are not yet married and while they
slept Puck applied a love potion on Lysander s eyes thinking he was Demetrius. Lysander wakes and
is repulsed by the sight of Hermia and never wants to see her again because he is now in love with
Helena. Hermia awakes from her terrible dream and retells it thinking that Lysander is nearby
listening. Then she realizes that he is not there and she does not see him anywhere. Hermia expresses
the sentiment that she will find Lysander or she will surely die. She stated, Help me, Lysander, help
me! do thy best To pluck this crawling serpent from my breast! Ay me, for pity! what a dream was
here! Lysander, look how I do quake with fear: Methought a serpent eat my heart away, And you sat
smiling at his cruel pray. Lysander! what, removed? Lysander! lord! What, out of hearing? gone? no

should be the foundation of one s belief. The universe either had a beginning or it is eternal, there is

Her Themes
Her a movie written and directed by Spike Jonze, is what I consider it to be the greatest movie in the
twenty first century so far. There are only a few words that describe the movie: beautiful, touching,
and intelligent. Her is about a man in the future, who is struggling with depression and isolation,
developing an unlikely relationship with an operating system. The movie is beautiful in every scene;
almost as if every scene could be a new art piece. The movie was filmed in Los Angeles and Shanghai,
the blend of both cities creates and futuristic setting, but is still completely real and possible.
Everything in the movie is perfectly positioned: cups, furniture, extras, and aesthetic lighting, it makes
every frame is beautiful art. When people watch this movie they can not be helped be touched by it.
This film is about love, but it so much more than that; deep down the movie is about life and how
humans deal with the ups and downs of it all. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the themes is technology taking over life and making life too easy, but unlike movies like Total

that theme with visual cues and set peace details. Her does something that is not regular for love
stories these days: it dissects every part of love. This movie makes a viewer question what love is
limited to: is it limited to a two person relationship, a physical body, or personal intelligence. Spike
Jonze has done something that almost seems rare in this day in age, a completely original story. It may
have taken inspiration from different pieces of art, but it is not an adaptation of an original idea, a
sequel of a long running series, or a remake of a classic. There needs to be more Spike Jonze like
people out there, more original ideas, and more art made for the sake of making something

Cognitive Learning Theory

Cognitive Learning Theory Cognitive theorists try to explain human behavior by understanding how
we process and store new information. The cognitive theories of learning originated from the gestalt
theory. The three major contributors to the cognitive learning theories were Jean Piaget, Edward
Tolman, and Albert Bandura. In this paper, I will evaluate the work of all three theorists, demonstrate
an understanding of the theory, and explain how the theory can be applied to our current educational
environment. The gestalt theory was founded by three men, Max Wertheimer, Wolfgang Kohlu, and
Kurt Koffka. Wertheimer conducted several experiments, using a ... Show more content on

Tolman agrees mostly with the Gestalists about education. Tolman would test hypotheses in the
learning environment. He would want the learner to be exposed to different viewpoints and encourage
small group discussions. Tolman believed that learning occurs non stop.
Tolman and Bandura share a lot of the same believes. They agree that learning is a continuous process
that does not require reinforcement. Albert Bandura s learning theory is known as observational
learning theory. Bandura believed in reciprocal determinism, in that the environment and the behavior
of a person cause each other. He believed that we learn from observing the consequences of our
behavior. Bandura is famous for his study known as the bobo doll studies (Boeree, 2010). The study
involved a group of children viewing a film of a woman beating a blow up clown. The children were
allowed to play with a blown up clown and most mimicked the woman s behavior. He preformed this
study in many different ways, even using a real clown in one. This lead Bandura to believe, that there
were steps involved in the modeling process (Boeree, 2010). He believed that for us to learn we must
pay attention. If we lose our attention we will have a decrease in learning. We then must be able to
recall what we were paying attention to. Bandura believes that we store what we have seen as mental
images or verbally. Next we have to be able to reproduce what

Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections
Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections
The purpose of this paper is to identify an issue identified by the National Council of State Boards of
Nursing NCLEX examination blueprint. The identified issue that I will be addressing for this paper is
catheter associated urinary tract infections and is under the category of safety and infection control;
according to (INSERT NCSBN CITATION) this issue falls under the overview of safe and effective
care for patients. The importance of addressing this issue is one that can potentially aid in the patient
having a higher satisfaction rate for the facility and the facility not potentially having to pay for
services not covered by insurance after the infection develops. ... Show more content on

Taking a look at the patients that have increased rates tend to be of female gender due to the shortened
urethra which allows the bacteremia to travel at a shorter distance than that of males, some of the other
risk factors for higher catheter associated urinary tract infections include patients that are of older age,
prolonged catheterization and impaired immunity (Conway, Larson 2012). With respect to cultural
values that may affect this situation they are none that I could find correlating with catheter associated
hospital infections. Proposed Solution
Through extensive research into catheter associated urinary tract infections there are many different
approaches to reducing the modifiable risk factors and the incidence of catheter associated urinary
tract infections in the hospital setting that can be used in any unit to reduce the liability of catheter
associated urinary tract infections. According to (Gesmundo, 2016)) the prolonging of the catheter
removal is one of the major reasons for catheter associated urinary tract infections. When adopting the
principles of how to lower the rate the success begins at the time of admission and

Linda Loman
Being successful takes on so many different meanings to a variety of people. Some people may see
success as how wealthy one is, where others view success as happiness. In Arthur Miller s play Death
of a Salesman, Miller implies, through Linda Loman, the human understanding of being wealthy and
popular equals success; however, this view is completely arbitrary to what success actually is. Miller
hints that the Lomans see success as being well liked and rich; having this mindset is the Lomans
downfall. Linda explains to Willy, her husband, I think if [Biff] finds himself then you ll both be
happier. Willy then remarks, How can he find himself on a farm? Is that a life? A farmhand? ...ten
years now and he has yet to make thirty five dollars ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Linda tries to explain to Willy that a job like a farmhand is a way for Biff to find himself, that there is
more to job that makes less than just $35 dollars a week. Ironically Biff would feel content with a
farm job if Willy did not push for a job in town. Similarly, Linda chastises Biff for not settling down.
In the time period that this play takes place, the stereotype was to live out the American dream; have a
family, get rich, own a home, something Biff has not done. Miller makes this evident when Linda
proclaims that Biff cannot look around his whole life, Biff replays that he cannot take hold of some
kind of life, Linda remarks, Biff, a man is not a bird, to come and go with the springtime, (39). With
the idea of success of having wealth and binging well liked, being the complete opposed can cause
some issues. Biff is a wonderer and a outdoors type of person, where Linda and Willy believe in
having a steady job in town. Biff is trying to find success but is not finding it because he is trapped in
the mindset of his parents. Being popular has nothing to do with success; success comes through with
hard work and

The Ancient Roman Empire
Rome, the first long and lasting empire that swept through other nations like wildfire. Rome broke the
barriers of politics and government. Rome also stood for something that citizens of today look at as
grotesque and savage. The fact that citizens would come together and cheer for another man while he
plunged his sword through his chest, with no understanding of life or family. The building that
represented this evil act is the Roman Coliseum. Although inside the coliseum death was glorified and
wished for the idea and meaning demonstrated politics and power. Rome was powerful in all meaning
of the power. Power is defined as the capability or the ability to direct or influence the behaviors of
others or the course of events. (sited by Dictornary.com). Rome certainly did this in a lot of ways.
Rome has both influenced culture and many other things. Rome itself stood over the world like a
shining example of an empire. Also, one of the most important people in this colossal empire, was the
emperor himself. One man that almost every dictator looks to as a shining example is Julius Caesar.
Julius Caesar traveled a lot as kid. And when he was young he was kidnapped by pirates. He also
traveled around the world to study and became a great war general (sited by vroma.org). Statues of
him still are in a lot of museums and public places. He has made an impact to the old world so big that
it moved cultures and united ideas. Caesar, who won the hearts and popularity of so

Constitutional Interpretation of Checks and Balances Essay
Constitutional Interpretation of Checks and Balances The problem of interpreting the Constitution and
framer s intent is a constantly permeating and troublesome question in the minds of Supreme Court
Justices, judges, prominent politicians, and policy makers alike. It is a problem that has been pondered
for years and years in the courtrooms and on paper with no real conclusion. One such essay arguing
this dilemma is How Not to Read the Constitution by Laurence H. Tribe and Michael C. Dorf, who
explore the questions Is reading the text just a pretext for expressing the reader s vision in the august,
almost holy terms of constitutional law? and Is the Constitution simply a mirror in which one sees

The Articles of Confederation laid down some of the fundamentals of our national government, but
still it had many flaws, such as an inability to regulate commerce and an inability to tax, among others
(Scholastic Update, 2). The main players in the organizing and writing of the Constitution are
Alexander Hamilton of New York, James Madison of Virginia, and George Washington. They believed
in a stronger national government and Congress right to regulate trade. In response to Shay s rebellion
which consisted of farmers protesting taxes, a convention was called for by Madison and Hamilton to
be held in Philadelphia in 1787. It was during this convention that the foundations for the Constitution
were worked out. A completely new government was created and put on paper between May 25 and
the final signing of the Constitution on September 17. The document was debated for sometime
between Federalists and Anti Federalists, but in December 1971 ten Bill of Rights were added to the
Constitution in order to give rights to the citizens of the United States. This pleased both sides, and the
Constitution was ratified (Scholastic Update, 4). The document produced from this convention has
been the effective law of the land for over 200 years. ...out of the chaos of the 1780s emerged the

Teacher Observation Essay
Consequently, high attrition rates characterize the first 3 years of teaching, underscoring a need to
provide better support for beginning teachers. Every new teacher becomes part of the school
community. The special education teachers must work across the boundaries of general and special
education and communicate effectively with general education teachers, related services personnel,
administrators, and parents. They should know how to coordinate their work with other professionals
to accomplish important goals. I think that learning to interact in a positive and productive manner
with colleagues is a critically important part of the new teacher s work. As I observed at school, the
tension can arise if the paraprofessional keeps disagreeing with the teacher s decision. It can easily
happen if the teacher is new. I strongly believe that it is a responsibility of every new teacher to take
time to build relationships with others from the moment she/he begins interacting with them. Strong
partnerships with other teachers should lead to productive interaction with other professionals in the
school and better teaching. Building strong relationships are important for helping students meet their
goals. According to Billingsley, Brownell, Israel Kamman (2013, p. 27), Teachers who establish
positive relationships will be less stressed and more satisfied with their work, and those who
experience chronic interpersonal problems have greater stress, withdraw, and will likely be

Actual Mechanism of Heat Loss during Exercise
Actual Mechanism of Heat Loss during Exercise
High heat and humidity reduce body s ability to lose heat by radiation or convection and evaporation.
While exercising, the heat production within muscle and it is transfer from the core to the skin. Under
appropriate environmental conditions, excess body heat dissipates to the environment which regulates
the core temperature within a narrow range. During exercise in the heat, the heat loss mechanisms
compete with the active muscles for more of the limited blood volume. Thus, neither area is
adequately supplied under extreme conditions.
Heat conduction is when the heat transferred from one material to another through direct molecular
contact. Heat generated deep in the body can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, exercise in heat can hasten glycogen depletion and increase muscle lactate.
Actual Mechanism of Heat Gain during Shivering
Shivering is a rapid, involuntary cycle of contraction and relaxation of skeletal muscles which can
cause a four to fivefold increase in the body s resting rate of energy production. During shivering the
muscles are cool and this causes it became weaker. The nervous system responds to muscle fiber
recruitment patterns. Both muscle shortening velocity and power decrease significantly when
temperature is lowered.
Sweating Mechanism and the Factors that Influence Sweating Rate.
Sweating increases during exercise in the heat, and this can quickly lead to dehydration and excessive
electrolyte loss. To compensate, the release of aldosterone and ADH increases, causing sodium and
water retention, which can expand the plasma volume. Increased dependence on evaporation means an
increased demand for sweating. The sweat glands are controlled by stimulation of the hypothalamus.
Elevated blood temperature causes the hypothalamus to transmit impulses through the sympathetic
nerve fibers to the millions of sweat glands distributed over the body s surface.
Sweat is formed by the secretory portion of the sweat gland. As the filtrate sweat passes through the
duct of the gland, sodium and chloride are gradually reabsorbed back into the surrounding tissues and
then into the blood. When

Voting Is A Right That All Americans
Voting is a right that all Americans have once hitting the age of 18 regardless of race, gender, or
financial status. However, not everyone chooses to exercise these rights or even fully understands how
to use them properly. Voting is not as simple as just going to a ballot box and checking the box for the
person whom had the most signs and television commercials. Being a voter means that one has an
influence over the government and who makes important decisions regarding the nation or state.
However, if one does not know all of the details about who they are voting for, they could be voting
blindly. It is important to do research and make factual decisions about who should be elected. If one
is not fully informed, than the less suitable candidate could be elected into office due to a lack of
information. All of the information necessary to make a strong decision is available, it just depends on
whether or not Americans go through the effort to locate it and use it. Voting for the most desired and
suitable candidate is important whether it is congressional district, senate, or presidency.

My Cultural Conception Of Happiness
The honorable Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso once said, When I meet people from different cultures I
know that they too want happiness and do not want suffering . . . That being said, people from
different cultures want to be happy. The only thing that differs between cultures is how each distinct
culture perceives how happiness can be achieved. Such is true for the conception of happiness
between my culture, the American culture, and the Indian culture. While the conception of happiness

conception of happiness in Indian culture is also collectivist. In addition, both cultural conceptions of

Both bodies have differing views of happiness, but they still uphold the their individuality. Likewise, I
too am able to embrace my personal perception of happiness because my society is one that embraces
individualism. It can be said that my culture thoroughly embraces Aristotle s definition of happiness
due to the fact that it preaches the importance of every individual being the sole passenger and
conductor when it come to riding the train that is the pursuit of happiness. In other words, the pursuit
of happiness is in the hands of the individual. No matter how one believes they can achieve happiness
in my culture, the fact remains that it is widely recognized that happiness is based on an individual s
actions and viewpoints.
In contrast, the conception of happiness in Indian culture is a combination of both individualist and
collectivist viewpoints. From the individualistic viewpoint of happiness in Indian culture, an
individual has the power to pursue their own happiness and do whatever they deem conducive to their
well being. According to Kumar (2003), it is believed in Indian culture that man should do whatever is
possible to enhance pleasure and avoid pain . . . one could beg, borrow or steal or even murder . . . (p.

individualistic viewpoint because the Indian culture trusts an individual to make decisions that will
benefit them. In a

Hegel s Views On Religion
Religion for Hegel was something that was discussed throughout some of his different writings, and
was something that he had strong views on. It can be argued that his view on religion in the state for
the citizens creates the most liberal society when comparing with that of Locke or Hobbes for those
who desire to practice their faith. He gives the choice to be involved in religion, or not, and shows
how religion can benefit the functioning of civil society.
Hegel s views on religion in the state cannot be sufficiently aligned with that of Hobbes or Locke, and
Hegel s views are very much his own. In a sense, he combines elements of both of these two writers,
and takes aspects that make it difficult to draw a final conclusion that his ideas are more like one than
the other. Hegel s views on religion in relation to politics greatly differ from that of Hobbes and
Locke, but he believes that religion can play a vital role in creating ethical political communities.
Practicing your faith can provide information on morals to live by, ad create a stronger society.
Hegel believed that Christianity is able to become a public religion that all citizens can become a part
of. He thinks this religion is important because it aligns itself closely with his views on the way of
living an ethical life, and he believed that you can only become ethical by having this religious
support and faith in something. Christianity can be argued to be a religion of Sittlichkeit. This religion

Cellular Respiration Of Yeast Lab Report
Abstract:
This experiment is to examine, analyze and investigate the affects of pollutants on a simple organism

Cellular respiration is an organism s ability to convert nutrients into energy (ATP). This experiment is
a method of addressing the way pollutants can interfere with an organism s ability to cellular respire
that can negatively affect life in an environment. Different pollutants (Isopropyl alcohol, vinegar, salt

  • 2. Assessing the Claim that Religion is a Conservative Force... Assessing the Claim that Religion is a Conservative Force The view that religion acts as a conservative force in society is usually linked mainly with the Marxist approach. Marx argued that the bourgeoisie (the ruling class) used religious ideas as part of the ideological state apparatus , this referring to those institutions that served to conceal the capitalist exploitation of the proletariats (the working class) and at the same time make them believe, under false pretences, that society functioned in a fair and meritocratic way. This Marxist approach can be identified within many religious hymns; this Victorian hymn is one of many which highlight the Marxist view; The rich man in his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even those that are right at the bottom of society, often referred to as untouchables , had an incentive to put up with their lot uncomplainingly, in expectation of being one rung up in the caste ladder in their next life. Although the caste was outlawed by the British under colonial rule in India, it still persisted, especially in more rural areas, and the length of time or which is lasted is an accredited example of how religious ideas can act as a conservative force in society. Marx also quoted that religion was the opium of the people , meaning that religion acted like a drug helping people to cope with pain and suffering in their life brought about by exploitation. If religion acts as opium, deadening the pain, then this is also helping to stop social change, as the masses will have some comfort from their suffering and be able to put up with it. It could be argued that Durkheim, who focuses on a functionalist perspective, also views religion as a conservative force. For Durkheim, religion acts as the moral glue that holds society together, and its rituals and teachings help to reinforce the shared norms and values that he believes were essential to keep society free from destructive conflict. Durkheim, in fact, also believed that religion served to maintain the inequalities in society, where Marx saw ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Swot Analysis Of Canada s Wonderland Marketing Mix Marketing Mix Product Day One: When Other Land first opens, the average customer has the opportunity to enjoy the rides and other attractions that are traditionally open. Because the park has numerous themes such as the Medieval Faire, International Street and Action Zone, it has the ability to draw the customers into a cultural and symbolic experience14. In addition to that, in anticipation of the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie releasing in the first week of May 2017, the park will be selling specific merchandise and licensing an inspired photo booth where friends can take memorable pictures15. These individuals will act as promoters and bring in the right kind of customers to the upcoming three day event30. The Implementation Phase Obtaining Resources: Once this project proposal is approved by management, a marketing team must be assigned to begin working towards a licensing deal with Marvel, sponsorship and promotional partnership with Coca Cola and Cineplex, and contact Drake s booking agent to confirm his involvement in Other Land31. Once these tasks have been properly delegated, an IMC timeline must be created to track progress. Projected Financial Brief Estimated Revenue: The financial projections followed an average attendance scenario. This assumed that per day, approximately 68,000 customers will attend Other Land (refer to exhibit 4 for an outline of different attendance scenarios). If that is the case, per day, with an average ticket price of $135, ticket sales result in a total revenue of $9,180,000. Overall, this would add up to a ticket sales revenue of $27,540,000 for the three days. Other revenue streams such as Guardians of the Galaxy merchandise, photo booth sales, concession stand foods, alcohol sales from Day Two, Coca Cola sponsorship, and Cineplex promotional partnership result in an additional $7,223,400 over the three days. • 4. Use Of Renewable Resources For Alternative Fuels Current transportation is heavily dependent on fossil fuels such as oil, gas, and coal. Petroleum based fuels such as gasoline and diesel fuel, the most commonly used fossil fuels, are causing increasing global concern because petroleum is a finite resource. This means that as the amount of available petroleum decreases over time, the need for alternative fuels will increase. This is an important matter because it affects global energy security, food security, the environment, and economies. With governments around the world attempting to cope with increasing greenhouse gas emissions, the world is turning to cleaner, more efficient energy use and the use of renewable resources to address air pollution, global warming, and climate change. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the global population continuously increasing, the use of farmland and grains for the world s food supply will be competing with the use of the same land for biofuel production, which may lead to an increase in food prices around the world. Global bioethanol and biodiesel production has significantly increased over the last 14 years. It is possible that biofuels produced from crops using conventional agricultural methods will increase the stresses on water supplies, water quality, and land use, compared to petroleum fuels. There would be agricultural competition between food crops and energy crops for resources such as land and water. Agricultural expansion due to increased prices of foods would place further stress on water supplies due to increased irrigation. Population growth, climate change, and natural disasters also place additional stress on water supplies, but these factors are already at play and natural disasters may be unpredictable (Koh and Ghazoul, 2008). Increasing biofuel production will affect the biogeophysical capabilities of soil due to changes in land use and may affect the nitrogen cycle due to increased use of nitrogen fertilizer (Delucchi, 2010). Recent research into using wood and grass for cellulosic ethanol production may be fruitful as most of these crops can be grown on agriculturally degraded land ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Paradox Of Meno And Meno The Paradox of Inquiry is also known as Meno s Paradox, there are a few interpretations to this dialogue which can appear to be quite challenging to understand. In the Paradox, Socrates and Meno are inquiring into the term virtue and what the definition of virtue might be. Socrates postulates three possible options of acquiring knowledge in the Meno; finding out for yourself, learning from someone else or by a divine inspiration. My thesis is that ....... Meno questions Scorates about how he will search for virtue and know what it is MENO: How will you look for it Socrates, when you don t know at all what it is? How will you aim to search for something you do not know at all? If you should meet with it, how will you know that this is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, knowledge does dissolve the paradox and belief doesn t according to Socrates. Pre existing knowledge dissolves the paradox in two main ways, one being that we can consciously not know things but recollect our previous knowledge and therefore recognise when we ve found them and the other being we can know things through pre existing knowledge and still search for them. In the paradox, Meno insists on Socrates proving that learning is simply recollecting information. Socrates begins to dissolve the paradox by stating that the soul is in fact immortal. Our souls go through a process of anamnesis which is simply just recollecting previous information. To prove that our souls have past experiences from multiple lives, he presents Meno with a scenario involving a slave boy and a simple geometric inquiry. In short, Socrates tries to prove that even a slave boy who appears to have no knowledge, can work out a simple geometric problem. The slave boy at first gives a few wrong answers and Socrates had to ask follow up questions to bring the slave boy to the right answer, however in no way did Socrates give the slave boy the answer from his recollection of past experiences, the slave boy managed to correct himself and come to the right answer on his own. Therefore, we have pre existing information in our souls and it is only a matter of remembering past information. It may seem as though Socrates dissolved the paradox of inquiry ... • 6. Evaluation Of Mentoring Programs For The United States Jordan Woltjer 11/16/2016 Course Project Part 2 Matz shows that mentoring programs were first instituted in the U.S. in the late 19th century as an alternative to incarceration to be used in Juvenile Courts under the supervision of probation officers (2014). According to Matz, these sentencing policies were inspired by the progressive era s focus on alleviating the mass poverty that was caused by industrialization, immigration, and urbanization (2014). Blakeslee and Keller state that The highly renowned Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBS) mentoring program, for example, began in 1904 in New York City and today consists of over 375 agencies serving more than 210,000 youth across the United States (2012). Matz (2014) argues that though mentoring programs are compatible with a large range of sociological and criminological theories, that their creation was motivated by a theoretically undeveloped humanitarian instinct that pervaded the Progressive Era. Despite this, we can still use the empirical evidence of BBBS programs to test theoretical perspectives such as Differential Association. The BBBS program matches at risk youth between the ages of 6 and 18 with a volunteer mentor whose prior screening demonstrated that they are capable of providing socialization to curb delinquency and anti social behavior (Limber, 2001). Susan Jekielek says that The Big Brothers/Big Sisters program takes applications from volunteers in the community and subjects each Mentor to an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Applying this process in a classroom may look like showing students the mnemonic techniques in Multiplication in a Flash that teaches the zero, one, two, five, and nine times tables with at least two other different strategies and then allowing the children can choose the one they like best. Once the students have been introduced to strategies for solving the remaining multiplication facts, pictures, stories, and rhymes could be shown that are the second part of the Multiplication in a Flash program. This could be a strengthening and helpful aid for students to be able to memorize their multiplication tables. Imagine the procedures of this program; first students learning strategies to solve multiplication facts, and then this program is added in as an aid or reinforcement. An observation of this process would hopefully look like an activity or review to reinforce the concepts of the multiplication facts students should have already grasped. The strategies from the program could easily be introduced while teaching the multiplication facts and wouldn t take much time to implement. The strategies could be used in centers because most of them are stories or have activities attached to them. This definitely sounds like a beneficial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. What Is John Bowlby Attachment Theory Attachment theory. In 1958, John Bowlby proposed the idea of attachment theory (McLeod, 2009). This theory identifies the infant s need to seek closeness and proximity with the caregiver when he/she feels scared or threatened. The caregiver provides safety and security. The caregiver and infant s relationship form four possible attachment styles: secure, avoidant, ambivalent/anxious, and disorganized (McLeod, 2009). Secure attachment occurs when the caregiver meets the child s needs. The child feels safe and secure. In contrast, avoidant attachment occurs when the caregiver is emotionally avoidant, insensitive, and unaware of the child s needs. In this case, the child learns to care for himself/herself. • 12. Flanders Fields Poetry Analysis Poetry is a great way to reflect on events. When discussing War World I, it is hard to imagine how tough things really were. Poems can speak to you just like songs do. I believe poetry accurately conveys the true horrors from this time. Poems give you a chance to see through the eyes of the poet. As I was looking through poems from World War I, one really caught my attention. In Flanders Fields by John McRae. This poem is heartfelt and is filled with powerful meaning that is written from the fallen soldier s point of view. It s about the soldiers who sacrificed themselves during the war. However, the soldiers want everyone to keep fighting instead of feeling sorrow. John McRae was a physician and a teacher who served in the First World War. This famous poem was written after his close friend was killed during the war. According to The Story of John McCrae, he was not the same after the War, he became angry and disillusioned. The fighting and deaths took a deep toll on his soul. He felt that he should have done more to help during this hard time. He felt he should have made greater sacrifices, and insisted on living in a tent through the year, like his comrades at the front, rather than in the officers huts. When this affected his health in mid winter he had to be ordered into warmer surroundings. To many he gave the impression that he felt he should still be with his old artillery brigade. • 13. The Snap ( Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program ) And... The SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and WIC (Women, Infants, Children) programs both have similar jobs. Both programs attempt to help feed struggling families. In the past SNAP allowed members to purchase food staples and prepackaged food, but a recent bill is being made in order to address these rules. These changes will deactivate members abilities to purchase prepackaged food, and has limited them to purchase only food staples. These food staples included foods such as rice, bread, fruits, etc. While the desired new rules for SNAP are similar to the current rules of WIC, the bill will also attempt to allow members of WIC to purchase white potatoes in addition to their food staples. Multiple commodities economic standing will experience larger impacts on supply and demand from this proposed bill s changes and implications. As SNAP shifts to strictly staple foods, the economic impacts will implement changes on the supply and demand of rice. In the short run the price of rice will rise and the demand curve of rice will shift outward. This effect will take place because of SNAP s proposed limitations. If the members of SNAP are limited to only food staples they will find themselves demanding more rice than before. This shift will cause an upward movement along the supply curve. There will be an increase in the quantity of rice supplied in the long run because the demand will have grown from the limitations placed on SNAP consumers that suppliers will have ... Substitutes: The quality of substitutes for pizza (frozen pizza and other cheaper alternative brands) had also evolved to a point to which the additional price for consumers to pay a premium for Papa John s pizza pies was being questioned. Albert Bandura s learning theory is known as observational learning theory. Bandura believed in reciprocal determinism, in that the environment and the behavior of a person cause each other. He believed that we learn from observing the consequences of our behavior. Bandura is famous for his study known as the bobo doll studies (Boeree, 2010). The study involved a group of children viewing a film of a woman beating a blow up clown. The children were allowed to play with a blown up clown and most mimicked the woman s behavior. He preformed this study in many different ways, even using a real clown in one. This lead Bandura to believe, that there were steps involved in the modeling process (Boeree, 2010). He believed that for us to learn we must pay attention. If we lose our attention we will have a decrease in learning. We then must be able to recall what we were paying attention to. Both muscle shortening velocity and power decrease significantly when temperature is lowered. Sweating Mechanism and the Factors that Influence Sweating Rate. Sweating increases during exercise in the heat, and this can quickly lead to dehydration and excessive electrolyte loss. To compensate, the release of aldosterone and ADH increases, causing sodium and water retention, which can expand the plasma volume. Increased dependence on evaporation means an increased demand for sweating. The sweat glands are controlled by stimulation of the hypothalamus. Elevated blood temperature causes the hypothalamus to transmit impulses through the sympathetic nerve fibers to the millions of sweat glands distributed over the body s surface. • 36. My Cultural Conception Of Happiness The honorable Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso once said, When I meet people from different cultures I know that they too want happiness and do not want suffering . . . That being said, people from different cultures want to be happy. The only thing that differs between cultures is how each distinct culture perceives how happiness can be achieved. Such is true for the conception of happiness between my culture, the American culture, and the Indian culture. While the conception of happiness across my culture and the conception of happiness across Indian culture are both individualistic, the conception of happiness in Indian culture is also collectivist. Both bodies have differing views of happiness, but they still uphold the their individuality. Likewise, I too am able to embrace my personal perception of happiness because my society is one that embraces individualism. It can be said that my culture thoroughly embraces Aristotle s definition of happiness due to the fact that it preaches the importance of every individual being the sole passenger and conductor when it come to riding the train that is the pursuit of happiness. In other words, the pursuit of happiness is in the hands of the individual. In contrast, the conception of happiness in Indian culture is a combination of both individualist and collectivist viewpoints. From the individualistic viewpoint of happiness in Indian culture, an individual has the power to pursue their own happiness and do whatever they deem conducive to their well being. (p. 2). In simple terms, one should do whatever is in their power to achieve ultimate happiness. This is an individualistic viewpoint because the Indian culture trusts an individual to make decisions that will benefit them. In a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Hegel s Views On Religion Religion for Hegel was something that was discussed throughout some of his different writings, and was something that he had strong views on. It can be argued that his view on religion in the state for the citizens creates the most liberal society when comparing with that of Locke or Hobbes for those who desire to practice their faith. He gives the choice to be involved in religion, or not, and shows how religion can benefit the functioning of civil society. Hegel s views on religion in the state cannot be sufficiently aligned with that of Hobbes or Locke, and Hegel s views are very much his own. In a sense, he combines elements of both of these two writers, and takes aspects that make it difficult to draw a final conclusion that his ideas are more like one than the other. Hegel s views on religion in relation to politics greatly differ from that of Hobbes and Locke, but he believes that religion can play a vital role in creating ethical political communities. Practicing your faith can provide information on morals to live by, ad create a stronger society. Hegel believed that Christianity is able to become a public religion that all citizens can become a part of. He thinks this religion is important because it aligns itself closely with his views on the way of living an ethical life, and he believed that you can only become ethical by having this religious support and faith in something. Christianity can be argued to be a religion of Sittlichkeit. This religion ultimately ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
