Along the way, spending patterns will shift significantly as discretionary purchases capture a majority
of consumer spending. The study also suggest that if india can achieve 7.3 percent annual growth a
reasonable assumption if economic reforms continue consumer spending will quadruple from about 17
trillion rupees($3.72 billion) in 2005 to 70 trillion rupees in 2025. The dramatic growth in India s
middle class from 50 million(5% of population) to 583 million people(41% of population), will power
the surge. Spending patterns will shift dramatically as expenditures grow rapidly from personal
products to consumer electronics. The middle class will dominate the cities as three quarters of India s
urbanities will be part of the middle class compared with just one tenth today. For many companies
the sheer scale of this middle class will ensure that it receives significant attention. Companies also
should t underestimate the market presented by the country s most affluent consumers : those earning
$21,890 a year in 2000 dollar terms, or $117,650 in terms of PPP. That group will total 24 million in
2025, more than the current population of Australia. By that year too, India s affluent class will be
larger than China s comparable segment,

Differences Between Achilles And Achilles
In his book, The Encyclopedia of Greek and Roman Mythology, Roman states that,
The Greek concept of the hero was not based on a calculation of the warrior s social utility and
helpfulness in straightforward terms; rather a hero s greatness is defined by how extraordinary he is,
how far he transcends the lives of ordinary mortals (2010:8).
This essay will compare the greatest hero of the Trojan War, Achilles with the strongest hero of
Ancient Greece, Herakles. It will also discuss how they compare to their modern day representations
in cartoons, movies and pop culture.
These two very well known heroes of Ancient Greek mythology were both born from one mortal and
one immortal parent. While their bravery, battle skills and strength have earned them a place in the
history books there are also some differences between these heroes. Achilles, the protagonist of Homer
s epic, the Iliad, was the son of Peleus, a mortal king and Thetis, a sea nymph and daughter of Neseus
(Roman 2010:7). One version of the story describes Achilles as the only surviving child of this
marriage, after Thetis had murder six of her children by burning them (Pinsent 1983:114). A later
version states that his mother tried to protect him when he was born by dipping him in the river Styx

His impulsiveness and emotional instability often got him in trouble. Hera used this to her advantage
yet again after the birth of his children from his first wife, Megara. She drove him mad, which caused
him to kill his sons and abandon Megara (Roman 2010:209). For the crime of murdering his sons he
was ordered to perform the famous Twelve Labours in order to purify himself (Roman 2010:210).
This would also later ensure his immortality however. These would not be the last tasks he would have
to complete in penance for his anger and impulsive

Policy Making Analysis
The first three chapters of the Introduction to the Policy Process talks about how our society makes
policy and how different events in the country s history can have drastic effects on policy, and how
these different kinds of policy s can have an effect on the American people as well. In this country
policy making has been there from the start after the signing of the Declaration of Independence and
our separation from Great Britain. The readings mention what policy is and its purpose in our
government and the population at large, why policy making is important to study, the elements of the
policy making system, the different environments that can affect policy, and the historical and
structural contexts of policy making in this country. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One thing that the readings mentions that when we look at the policy making process, we should look
at the separation of powers. The separation of powers in our government, is the balance that was put in
place so that no branch has too much power, and that each branch can override a decision, that one
branch makes when it comes to policy. The three branches are the executive branch, which deals with
the president, the legislative branch which deals with the House of Representatives and the Senate,
and the Judicial Branch, which deals with the Supreme Court. Each branch has a separate job to do,
and can influence policy in different ways. For example, the Supreme Court had overruled a policy
that had said that schools could separate kids due to the color of the skin. The Famous court case of
Brown v. Board of Education changed this policy and allowed kids to go to the same school,
regardless of the color of their skin. Many people across the country knew that the separate schools
policy was wrong and the government did nothing to change it for many years. The court case
changed this and overruled a policy that had been put in place many years ago and created a new
policy in its

Peyote
In The Man Who Killed the Deer by Frank Waters, the speaker talks about how Martiniano, the man
who killed the deer, is disconnected from his tribe and is in search of a religion. After coming in
contact with a member of the peyote church, he decides he wants to try it. He finds the visions and
hallucinations reassuring for a while, but after the authorities invade one of the ceremonies, he no
longer wants to be associated with peyote and the trouble it is bringing his tribe. Peyote and the
ritualistic uses have a long history, and it has been used within a number of Native American tribes in
the United States since the mid 1800 s to the early 1900 s. Peyote is a cactus, and the most common
species is known as Lophophora williamsii. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These peyote rituals later became associated with the Native American Church (NAC). There are
various divisions of the NAC, with each chapter having specific officers or personnel dedicated to
carrying out the ritualistic processes. The most prominent position is the Road Chief, whom of which
is responsible for leading the main elements of the meeting as well as directing participants down the
peyote road, or a way of living life well. Other positions within the church include Fire Man, Cedar
Man, and Earth Mother. While each chapter is different, most of them adopt similar ceremonial
elements, which include: the avoidance of alcohol, devotion to family and general moral living
(Majchrzak). During the ceremonies, the Road Chief administers the peyote, which are in the form of
mescal buttons. While the peyote is administered, music will often be sung in the background. The use
of feathers, rattles, bone whistles, and drumming are also a common element of the peyote
ceremonies. The ceremonies usually begin on Saturday evenings at 8:00 p.m. and end on Sunday
mornings, commencing with a communal breakfast. It is believed that the consumption of peyote
allows for communion with the gods and the deceased, as well as offering participants a sense of
guidance, power and healing

Abortion Report
Abortion Report
I have chosen for my topic Abortion. I think that it is a topic that is very important in today s society
however it is often dodged or avoided.
Different Presidents say different things and have different stances about it, and often it is had to know
what to think about it. Basically there are two different ways of looking at it: Pro Choice, which takes
the stance of saying that it is the woman s choice if she wants to have an abortion and that it is only
her business. So basically they want it to remain legal. Then there is the other stance of Pro Life which
says that it should not remain legal and that it is just about as bad as cold blooded murder. I happen to
agree with this.
This is what I will be focusing on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of them include:
Suction Abortion Dilation and Curettage (D C) Dilation and Evacuation (D E)
Salt Poisoning (Saline Injection) Hysterotomy Prostaglandin Abortion
There are also many risks and complications caused by having an abortion.
Some of the more widely known one s are:
1. Breast Cancer
2. Complications in future pregnancies, including excessive bleeding, premature delivery, cervical
damage, and sterility.
3. Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).
4. Uterine perforations.
5. Tubal pregnancy.
6. Placenta previa, which is extremely severe, life threatening bleeding in future pregnancies.
7. Retention of placenta
As you can see there are many different factors that contribute to abortion, and many different risks
that you take in having one. I think that abortion will remain a huge topic that s not going to go away
easily. I believe that they should be illegal however through doing this report I have been shown the
other side of the story, the Pro Choice side, and I have began to see there standpoint even though I
might not agree with

Radical Congressional Plan For Reconstruction Essay
Reconstruction in America was a time designated towards rebuilding the South both physically and
socially as well as integrating this revolutionized area back into the Union after the devastating Civil
War. Through the addition of Constitutional Amendments as well as bills such as the Civil Rights Act
of 1866, the Radical Congressional Plan was able to fuse another race, that of the southern blacks, into
a previously divided nation. Furthermore, the plan of the Radicals allowed Federal power to
encourage a drastic change both economically and socially in the Deep South, however, not without
some drawbacks as seen from the KKK and the repression of Thaddaeus Stevens impressive plan for
economic reforms. This desire to firmly transform the South into an accepting and stable territory is
what sets the Radical Congressional Plan apart from that of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For example, the passing of the Civil Rights Bill and later the Fourteenth Amendment secured both
citizenship and the basic rights (excluding suffrage) for the Freedmen and therefore tempering some of
the worst features of the horrible Black Codes. In addition to this, the passing of the Fourteenth
Amendment required that previous Confederate states ratify it in order to become part of the Union
again, further securing and protecting an endangered race. In continuation of the Radicals plan to
reinvigorate the South was the passing of the Fifteenth Amendment which not only guaranteed black
suffrage but also ensured that any states who were still dismal would not be capable of amending their
state constitutions to take away the ballot from blacks. Although this was rash in the eyes of the
entering states, this allowed for the equality of races and created greater political opportunities for
those of the black race to partake in government either as delegates or congressmen within their

Forensic in Latin means ¨public forum¨ which refers to anything to do with courts of law. Forensic
science uncovers details about a piece of evidence and helps the police understand what took place at

Learning for the Cuban and Nigerian Revolution
For developing regions, Latin America and Africa are a few of the focal countries to analyze civil war
onset and for future preventions. Cuba, now a communist state underwent political turmoil from
leaders like Fidel Castro to achieve its present government. Nigeria, a prominent oil powerhouse also
faced ethnic conflict stemming from its diverse population. Both countries are still susceptible to
future conflicts, but learning from their own history could easily prevent it from happening.
Cuba: The Castro Revolution
The Castro Revolution, which first started in the early 1950 s, involved a massive number of
casualties at the cost of an insurgent victory. The Cuban President at that time, Fulgencio Batista was
ousted and replaced with a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If Raul Castro is not able to alter their policies on fundamental freedoms and arbitrary imprisonment,
the citizens of Cuba could easily organize again and overthrow this regime.
However, Cuba seems to be sending mixed signals to the international community because it recently
gained a seat in the United Nation s Human Rights Council. This could potentially be an example of
an inside spoiler where countries sign onto agreements, but fail to follow through with them
(Stedman). Cuba needs to alter its priorities if it ever wants the U.S. embargo removed to stimulate
their economy as well as instill basic fundamental rights to it citizens. Regardless, history often
repeats itself and Castro s leadership does not seem to be changing its socialist practices and might
soon fall victim to another government takeover.
Thought it is unlikely for Castro to change the economic stance of his country, the U.S embargo on
Cuba proves a serious issue for Cuban citizens. A lack of basic technology, open trade, and resources
from the U.S. leaves citizens dissatisfied with the government. The 50 year embargo has failed to
pressure the Cuban government and has instead harmed the people of Cuba. Though it s uncertain who
will succeed Raul Castro, it is likely the embargo will remain in place, but as long as Cuba fails to
meet the conditions set out by President Kennedy to shift its alignment

Compare And Contrast Richard The Lionheart And Saladin
Richard the Lionheart who led the Third Crusade, ended up making a deal with the opposing leader,
Saladin. Both leaders were capable of cruel doings but they had a sort of respect each other as when
Richard lost his horse in battle, Saladin sent a replacement. Every time Richard the Lionheart and his
troops moved inland towards Jerusalem Saladin s army would circle round them cutting them off from
their supplies. Eventually they agreed to a treaty that allowed Christian pilgrims to enter Jerusalem
and leave unharmed but it stayed under Muslim control, they both signed the treaty and the fight was
over.
Even with the treaty the Christians didn t like that Jerusalem was run by a Muslim leader. In 1202,
Pope Innocent III called for another Crusade

Compare And Contrast Lenore And The Raven
The Raven is a poem written by me, Edgar Allan Poe. It is one of my finest works, and I have been
told that it has been turned into short films. Both are supposed to be word for word. One is a Simpson
s version, and another is a short film by Peter Bradley. I have decided to review and criticize each one.
I will see how true they are to The Raven, how sufficient the acting is, the setting, and the delivery of
the lines, and then I will express my view on each film. The adaption by the Simpsons already has me
grimacing. How do they expect an audience to take my poem seriously when the lines are being
delivered by yellow actors who hardly resemble humans? The setting is decent, with a fireplace, the
bust of Pallas, and books, among other things, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the setting I only have one complaint, that it is slightly too bright. When the lines about the
curtains are said, they are not shown at all. The actor does not say the lines, but he does lip sync them,
which is at least lets you infer that he is saying the lines. When he opens the door, once again, there is
too much light. Another thing that infuriates me is their version of the raven. First off it doesn t go
straight to the bust of Pallas. In addition to this, the raven looks so fake that I bet I could have done a
much better job. Finally, when the raven says nevermore, it doesn t move its beak at all. Random
images begin to flash quickly at random, and I am puzzled as to their purpose. The background music
does a decent job of strengthening the mood. The actors mood matches the lines, improving their
effect. Then the actor throws something out the window, which is not a part of the

Informative Speech On Children In Las Vegas

anything for the whole family to do that will be fun, entertaining, and clean for the little ones? All
valid questions, especially when you are going to Las Vegas which, well let s be honest is especially
famous for gambling, drinking, late night parties, and somewhat questionable morals. But don t
worry! You and your kids can have a great time in Las Vegas without seeing things that will scar their

The Partition Of India And Pakistan
The 1947 partition of India and Pakistan influenced the Indian Film Industry, more commonly known
as Bollywood, to produce films that sought to evoke Indian nationalism not only directly after the
Partition, but also continuing throughout the 20th century. Films associated with the split between the
two nations celebrated India as it transitioned from colonization to independence, while also
demonizing Pakistan and thus creating an extremely intense anti Pakistani sentiment throughout India.
In particular, two significant Bollywood films, Mother India and Border, sought to prove these
qualities. While Mother India lauded India as a newly independent nation, Border rebuked Pakistan as
the villain in the 1971 Indo Pakistani War, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This rebellion led to the disintegration of the British East India Company, yet power was soon

While the Indians initially revolted against the British through rebellions, the more significant
response to maltreatment in their own country was with the rise of nationalist movements. In 1885, the
Indian National Congress was formed primarily with a focus on equal political rights for Indians in a
mainly British run government. This became the largest and most prominent Indian public
organization, and central and defining influence of the Indian Independence Movement. (Wiki)
However, Indian politics was divided because of religious differences between the two largest
religions in India Hindus and Muslims. The majority of members in the INC were Hindus, while
Muslims were a minority. In 1905, Britain split Bengal between Hindus and Muslims for elections.
Due to the Muslim minority in the INC, Muslim leaders felt they were underrepresented, and formed

The Biological And Psychological Theories Of Crime And...
Crime is adaptation to life stress. It is best understood in terms of the manner in which the individual
experiences the biological, psychological and socially determined situations of his existence. (Halleck,
1967, p. 63) The modern police department was born out of urban mob violence that tormented the
nation s cities during the nineteenth century. The new police departments were replacements for the
night watch systems and relegated constables and sheriffs to serving court orders and running jails.
Early police agencies were corrupt, brutal, and inefficient. (Walker, Popular Justice, 61) While some
people are predisposed to criminal activity. The predisposition to crime is formed from the biological
and psychological theories of crime and criminal behavior. The earliest studies on delinquents and
criminal conduct sought to explain the presence of criminal behavior based on intuitions obtained
from the biological sciences. This is not to suggest that biological theories are neutral in social,
psychological, or environmental correlates; rather, the organic approach to delinquency and crime
believes that the physical, neuropsychological, and chemical components of human nature offer more
persuasive evidence than do all other alternatives. (Arrigo 8) The origin of human actions include
aggressive, violent, and even criminal behavior reside within the personality structure or cognitive
processes of the individual. In this way delinquency and crime are not reducible to

Narrative Essay On Megan s Law
On a stormy day in midsummer, with clouds swirling overhead and rain drops pounding down on the
earth, one couple raced to the hospital in need of medical attention. Their hearts were pounding,
adrenalin coursing within their veins, and butterflies filling their stomachs among other things. They
were nervous and slightly scared for what might happen once they arrive. They had finally made it to
the parking lot of the hospital; they suddenly find themselves gathering their essential belongings, so
ready to embark into the other side of unknown that awaited them behind those hospital doors. But

Among many laws and acts that were signed and pushed through during his presidency one that
Clinton moved to pass was Megan s Law. This law was created following the saddening incident
involving the rape and murder of a seven year old girl, Megan Kanka. Megan and her family had been
unknowingly living right across the street from Jesse Timmendequas, a formerly convicted sex
offender. One day Jesse lured Megan to into his home with the false promise of letting her see his new
puppy and then attacked the child. This terrible event set in motion this law that would require each
state to register and track any formally convicted sexual predators into a system. The state would be
responsible for making the community aware of any offenders moving into the area. The law also
stated that any second time offender would be sentenced to life in prison with no opportunity for
parole. This law put in place helpful tools to keep vulnerable and innocent children out of harm s way.
It was a part of history in the effort to prevent more sexual assaults on children, teens and even adults.
In a way this law was passed with me in mind. So that as I got older and began playing in the yard, or
riding my bike out front we d as least know of any dangerous individuals that very well could be our

Stereotypes In Chris Lilley s Summer Heights High
As a society in the land down under , certain personality profiles are viewed as the class clowns of the
community, just by the way they act. Chris Lilley s cleverly produced mockumentary, Summer
Heights High (SHH), adopts these stereotypes presenting them as immensely exaggerated
representations. Lilley s show comprises of Ja mie King, a snobby and manipulative private school
girl, Mr G, a self absorbed drama teacher, and Jonah Takalua, a rebellious 15 year old boy of Tongan
descent, commonly associated with the phrase, Puck you miss . Although SHH is socially accepted as

In SHH, each of the characters was acted by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jonah is what is viewed as a delinquent child. Although, his character is the most important for SHH.
This class clown has quite the record, attending three schools in 18 months. Two of his expulsions
include setting a flame a student s locker and defecating the principles car by spray painting a penis on
the bonnet. His behaviour in SHH is by far the most ludicrous, as his difficulty in adopting t he
English language is demonstrated by his broken speech and impulsive language. Consistently naming
anyone he doesn t like as a homo and labelling a ginger coloured student as a ranga . Sorry, ranga. One
of the most absurd acts made by Jonah was when he convinced the student councillor to believe that
his father was molesting him, specifically to prevent him from doing a speech due the next day.
Possibly one of the greatest moments of Summer Heights High. However his character is a great
example of an obstacle the education system has still not overcome. Jonah is a recognisable figure in
all schools, representing the group of students that fall behind their peers due to their inadequate
learning abilities. In an attempt to cover up their failures, they show off with bravado and disruptive
behaviour. Although Lilley wears the brown face to further play the character of a Tongan teen (which
is commonly considered taboo in the film industry), some critics argue that he does not understand the
burden of being brown.

Respect and Why the Marine Corps Has a Rank Structure. Essay
Respect and why the Marine Corps has a rank structure. There are very few things in the modern
military of today or any military that has ever existed before our current military for that matter, that
are more important than the rank structure and the the respect that is demanded of you by that rank
structure. Those are two very important characteristics of every successful military unit. With added
details here and there, in this essay I will mainly be discussing what respect actually is, how being
respected is normally earned and in the military how it is demanded of you as a sub ordinate to any
ranks higher than you or in some cases any fellow military personnel who is more senior to you and
why. On top of that I will be covering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We must see that potential. We all need respect, regardless of how immature and gay we behave. We
all need others to see our potential and honor it to better encourage us to grow into it. Some respect
sound judgement, some strength or power. Some respect altruism, some purposefulness. Parents and
teachers may provide initial guidance but what you respect in a person is ultimately your privilege. A
Privilege. However skewed my opinion might be the fact is that in most cases respect is earned by the
actions towards an individual. All that being said the military works a little different. Respect in the
military is demanded of you by your Superior Officers, NCOs and others of same rank that have three
months more salt on there collar. This is where not so much the definition but the reason it is given
can get shifty. It is when one must absolutely show respect without the normal necessity of actually
respecting that person specifically. You are respecting the title held by a male or female that is above
you, normally by a pay grade or 4 and in the Commissioned Officers case, on a whole different level
than you are as an enlisted man. Not to say that one cannot find an Commissioned Officer or Non
Commissioned Officer that actually deserves it for his or her character traits. Because I haven t met
too many Non Commissioned or Commissioned officers that don t deserve respect for all reasons.

health nursing practice. The discussion and negotiation with the staff members throughout the project
offered me the insights into analysing and addressing the concerns. I appreciated the support and

experience. Meanwhile, being able to produce a good project means the committee to time and to
employ best practice. It is very time consuming to search for all the possible non pharmacological
intervention options that are suitable for the community. But this has increased my knowledge on

The Policies Of Germany And Gustav Stresemann
Germany is a united European country after World war I and World war II, and this is due to the
chancellors that have made it their plans to set aside their own German nationalism and attempted to
create something that would not only benefit Germany but also as a whole continent. Chancellor
Gustav Stresemann came into politics when he saw that he had a great leadership and understood that
economics and politics go hand to hand. Yet, he opposed some proposals such as The Treaty of
Versailles because it made Germany become a weak country. He did believe in discipline but saw the
treaty as a threat of Germany policies and economics. Nonetheless, a plan that Gustav Stresemann
thought that would help the Germans was the Dawes Plan that would

Connecticut Case
On June 7, 1965, the United States Supreme Court ruled that it was the constitutional right of married
females to be prescribed birth control. This ruling found fault in the Connecticut state ban on the use
of contraceptives. The 1879 Connecticut law was ruled as unconstitutional because it infringed on
citizen s rights to privacy. This case is studied to this day because it concerns the rights and liberties of
individuals. The Connecticut state law made it illegal for married people to receive any form of
contraceptives or information on contraceptives. The 1879 law stated that any person who uses any

The Statehood of Hawaii
On the 21st of August 1959, a small colony of inhabited Polynesian volcanic rock located in the
middle of the Pacific Ocean became the 50th state named Hawai i . Before Hawai i became the 50th
State, foreigners from the United States attempted to annex Hawai i from its people and the Hawaiian
Monarch for political and military gains. It all started as far back as 1893 when Hawai i was ruled by
Hawaiian Kings and Queens. All three attempts at annexation the United States Diplomats and
foreigners failed until 1959 when Hawai i declared Statehood. The United States Government and its
political leaders celebrated along with a small portion of native islanders but sadden and dismayed the
majority of native people felt it s island being stolen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third attempt at having The Kingdom of Hawai i annexed was a false claim by the United States
declaring Hawai i territory of the United States because it was a Neutral State. The United States
Congress and President McKinley signed into law a Joint Resolution, which they claimed Hawai i
annexed by the United States of America and was now U.S. territory; this claim was a violation of war
between the Hawaiian Kingdom and the United States. The United States claimed due to concern
Hawai i might become part of the European Nation s Empire they needed resolution claiming Hawaii
s Annexation. But Hawai i disputed the claim stating Hawai i could not be annexed thru a Joint
Resolution and that a Joint Resolution is not a treaty; it is a congressional act on behalf of the United
States. The congressional act can only affect U.S. territory and Hawai i was not a U.S. territory or
state to be claimed
Three attempts were made and none were successful, furthermore while the Republic of Hawai i was
making every attempt to annex Hawai i they were caught in the deception, each attempt was being
covered up by other political groups from the United States Government that was in favor of the
annexation. Since the statehood of Hawai i was declared in 1959, many native Hawaiians continue to
protest the annexation of Hawai i and rebut that Hawai i was ever acquired legally by the United
States of America. However the writings and evidence that have

The Whistle Definition
There are two types of people, the one is spending too much money on things that aren t even worth it,
and the other one is a very careful in spending money. How about you, in what type of person are you
into? In this essay, I chose the literary selection entitled, The Whistle by Benjamin Franklin. This
literary selection struck me the most, because when I read it, I realized something. I m a type of
person that will buy everything I see nice and attractive to me even it s not that worth it. The essay
have a very nice plot and very interesting to read all over again. It also have many moral lessons to be
picked up especially when you re a type of person that is not frugal and waste money on the things
that are not worth to have. The essay is all about Benjamin Franklin, at first part of the essay is all
about remembering the past events, and then, when he s young, he wanted to have a whistle like the
boy so he gave up all money he has. He was so delighted with his new possession and he happily
blowed the whistle all over their house but his satisfaction was cut short by his brothers and sisters
when they knew how much money he spent on that whistle. When he grew up, he observed other
people, and there he summarized that there are people who is very frugal in spending money and some
are not so frugal. The other lesson I learned is that we should invest in ourselves, we ... Show more

Cultural Challenges Facing Military Operations in Pan Arab...
For this assignment the cultural manifestations I selected to discuss as being important to our Unit s
success are Wasta, Deference to authority, and Tendency to seek compromise. Of course
understanding all of the cultural manifestations are important to our unit s success, but each region
within the Middle East North African (MENA) region will have their own variations based upon
which branch of Islam is dominant in the region, what that region s experience has been with the U.S.
or a Western presence in general and numerous other factors such as the prevailing socio economic
factors of the region.

The bottom line for our team however, is to understand that the widespread practice of wasta in the
Middle East is assumed, it is a given. So we must learn the nuances of the practice and use it to our
advantage to be successful in our mission. That means finding the right Wasta to curry influence with
the particular elders you are working with. Originally based upon family loyalty, the family is still the
primary wasta channel, but that familial relationship has expanded to include friends and
acquaintances, as well as private agreements whereby services are provided in exchange for gifts or
specific fees. In the words of one observer, Today s wasta is too often a middle man, seeking fame and
fortune by doing favors. Our job is to find that Middle Man and enter into that relationship with our
eyes wide open, knowing it isn t going to be a cheap date, but that it will be worth the lives it will save
down the road. Incidentally, the IMF, World Bank and regional economic leaders consider the taming
or conversion of wasta as necessary to the MENA Region ultimately becoming an emerging market
leader and engine of world growth, its effect in the regional economy is that debilitating. So let s do
our part to keep it that way! Where s my Wasta!?! Here wasta wasta!

Most people would seriously question on why so many people throughout the world live in the

from living so close to a volcano. One of the biggest reasons are the soils close to a volcano is full of
nutrients and minerals which keep the soil very fertile. This happens because of all of the lava and

Literary Devices In The Charge Of The Light Brigade
In times of war, soldiers must surpass obstacles and be ready to face challenges. Witnessing the valiant
efforts of these men who throw their lives on the line instills an insurmountable sense of pride in the
hearts of spectators. Both Lord Alfred Tennyson s poem and Richard Caton Woodville Jr. s illustration
entitled The Charge of the Light Brigade incorporate literary terms to express their feeling of pride
towards the Light Brigade. Tennyson exhibits this by using repetition to signify the danger of fighting
in battle, in addition to using imagery to help the reader imagine how terrifying war is while setting a
respectful tone. Woodville shows pride through the dangerous setting, through the symbolism
signifying the danger of fighting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, the artist uses setting. His addition of depressions in the ground and use of color scheme
are examples of this. He deliberately uses the depressions to indicate how dangerous the environment
is, and is proud that even though the men saw cannons being fired and bullets shooting at them, they
still go through with their job. They understand that it is their duty to fight for their country no matter
what obstacles they may face. The warm colors of the backdrop add onto this feeling because it
indicates the artist is content with how the men were willing to put themselves forward. Symbolism is
another literary term used by Woodville. For instance, this is shown when the men on horses hold up
their sabres. The fact that the soldiers are pointing them towards their enemies show how they are not
afraid, aware that they do not stand a chance against the other sides artillery. The artist s feeling is
revealed here because although they know that they will be defeated, the men hold their weapons up
high, continuing to charge and fight to the best of their abilities. They are courageous and ready to
endure the pain. The most important literary device Woodville s uses to convey his feeling of pride is
imagery. The poet shows this through the charging motion of the men on their horses. The soldiers
lean forward and hold their weapons high riding towards their opponents their courage. Instead

Food inc. This single statement paints a vivid picture in ones mind. Not only is the way we grow our

1950 s, it would take farmers about 68 days to fully grow a chicken. Now? It takes about 47 days to
fully grow a chicken, and it is twice as big due to the fact that these chickens are injected with

They were about $8.00. I bought them anyway and then i went back to see how much the normal

upper middle class family, but what about those who aren t? I know families in homeless shelters (i

they could feed their children that was good for them but they cannot, simply because they cannot

In all, i feel that we, as americans should change something about what we eat. I feel that if we stop
buying genetically modified food, then maybe someone will listen. Maybe, just maybe, farmers will
hear our calls and answer them. I understand that this takes a lot of guts to do so and it may affect our
pockets, but it may be worth it in the long run. Organic food is always healthier for us.

of actors have played James bond and many actresses have played his love interests. The male roles
are portrayed as overly masculine and all of the women are overly sexualized. It seems that in every
James bond movie the special agent is beating up twenty guys and saving the lives of various

Those women have little to do with the plot of the movie and have more so to do with proving Bond s
masculinity. This not only gives girls a negative image of themselves but at the same time gives boys a

sexualized. The authors of the article Shaken and Stirred say strong potential for romantic

In the movie Casino Royal, Bond meets a girl who is married, yet is taken by Bond. In a recent study

What kind of message does this present to young girls? Almost all women in the Bond film series

one has to use their sexuality. Even the most important female character throughout the series is

The study also suggest that if india can achieve 7.3 percent annual growth a reasonable assumption if economic reforms continue consumer spending will quadruple from about 17 trillion rupees($3.72 billion) in 2005 to 70 trillion rupees in 2025. The dramatic growth in India s middle class from 50 million(5% of population) to 583 million people(41% of population), will power the surge. Spending patterns will shift dramatically as expenditures grow rapidly from personal products to consumer electronics. The middle class will dominate the cities as three quarters of India s urbanities will be part of the middle class compared with just one tenth today. For many companies the sheer scale of this middle class will ensure that it receives significant attention. Companies also should t underestimate the market presented by the country s most affluent consumers : those earning $21,890 a year in 2000 dollar terms, or $117,650 in terms of PPP. • 3. Differences Between Achilles And Achilles In his book, The Encyclopedia of Greek and Roman Mythology, Roman states that, The Greek concept of the hero was not based on a calculation of the warrior s social utility and helpfulness in straightforward terms; rather a hero s greatness is defined by how extraordinary he is, how far he transcends the lives of ordinary mortals (2010:8). This essay will compare the greatest hero of the Trojan War, Achilles with the strongest hero of Ancient Greece, Herakles. It will also discuss how they compare to their modern day representations in cartoons, movies and pop culture. These two very well known heroes of Ancient Greek mythology were both born from one mortal and one immortal parent. While their bravery, battle skills and strength have earned them a place in the history books there are also some differences between these heroes. Achilles, the protagonist of Homer s epic, the Iliad, was the son of Peleus, a mortal king and Thetis, a sea nymph and daughter of Neseus (Roman 2010:7). One version of the story describes Achilles as the only surviving child of this marriage, after Thetis had murder six of her children by burning them (Pinsent 1983:114). A later version states that his mother tried to protect him when he was born by dipping him in the river Styx (Roman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His impulsiveness and emotional instability often got him in trouble. Hera used this to her advantage yet again after the birth of his children from his first wife, Megara. She drove him mad, which caused him to kill his sons and abandon Megara (Roman 2010:209). For the crime of murdering his sons he was ordered to perform the famous Twelve Labours in order to purify himself (Roman 2010:210). This would also later ensure his immortality however. These would not be the last tasks he would have to complete in penance for his anger and impulsive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Policy Making Analysis The first three chapters of the Introduction to the Policy Process talks about how our society makes policy and how different events in the country s history can have drastic effects on policy, and how these different kinds of policy s can have an effect on the American people as well. In this country policy making has been there from the start after the signing of the Declaration of Independence and our separation from Great Britain. The readings mention what policy is and its purpose in our government and the population at large, why policy making is important to study, the elements of the policy making system, the different environments that can affect policy, and the historical and structural contexts of policy making in this country. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One thing that the readings mentions that when we look at the policy making process, we should look at the separation of powers. The separation of powers in our government, is the balance that was put in place so that no branch has too much power, and that each branch can override a decision, that one branch makes when it comes to policy. The three branches are the executive branch, which deals with the president, the legislative branch which deals with the House of Representatives and the Senate, and the Judicial Branch, which deals with the Supreme Court. Each branch has a separate job to do, and can influence policy in different ways. For example, the Supreme Court had overruled a policy that had said that schools could separate kids due to the color of the skin. The Famous court case of Brown v. Board of Education changed this policy and allowed kids to go to the same school, regardless of the color of their skin. Many people across the country knew that the separate schools policy was wrong and the government did nothing to change it for many years. The court case changed this and overruled a policy that had been put in place many years ago and created a new policy in its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Peyote In The Man Who Killed the Deer by Frank Waters, the speaker talks about how Martiniano, the man who killed the deer, is disconnected from his tribe and is in search of a religion. After coming in contact with a member of the peyote church, he decides he wants to try it. He finds the visions and hallucinations reassuring for a while, but after the authorities invade one of the ceremonies, he no longer wants to be associated with peyote and the trouble it is bringing his tribe. Peyote and the ritualistic uses have a long history, and it has been used within a number of Native American tribes in the United States since the mid 1800 s to the early 1900 s. These peyote rituals later became associated with the Native American Church (NAC). There are various divisions of the NAC, with each chapter having specific officers or personnel dedicated to carrying out the ritualistic processes. The most prominent position is the Road Chief, whom of which is responsible for leading the main elements of the meeting as well as directing participants down the peyote road, or a way of living life well. Other positions within the church include Fire Man, Cedar Man, and Earth Mother. While each chapter is different, most of them adopt similar ceremonial elements, which include: the avoidance of alcohol, devotion to family and general moral living (Majchrzak). During the ceremonies, the Road Chief administers the peyote, which are in the form of mescal buttons. While the peyote is administered, music will often be sung in the background. The use of feathers, rattles, bone whistles, and drumming are also a common element of the peyote ceremonies. The ceremonies usually begin on Saturday evenings at 8:00 p.m. and end on Sunday mornings, commencing with a communal breakfast. It is believed that the consumption of peyote allows for communion with the gods and the deceased, as well as offering participants a sense of guidance, power and healing ... Different Presidents say different things and have different stances about it, and often it is had to know what to think about it. Basically there are two different ways of looking at it: Pro Choice, which takes the stance of saying that it is the woman s choice if she wants to have an abortion and that it is only her business. So basically they want it to remain legal. Then there is the other stance of Pro Life which says that it should not remain legal and that it is just about as bad as cold blooded murder. Radical Congressional Plan For Reconstruction Essay Reconstruction in America was a time designated towards rebuilding the South both physically and socially as well as integrating this revolutionized area back into the Union after the devastating Civil War. Through the addition of Constitutional Amendments as well as bills such as the Civil Rights Act of 1866, the Radical Congressional Plan was able to fuse another race, that of the southern blacks, into a previously divided nation. Furthermore, the plan of the Radicals allowed Federal power to encourage a drastic change both economically and socially in the Deep South, however, not without some drawbacks as seen from the KKK and the repression of Thaddaeus Stevens impressive plan for economic reforms. In addition to this, the passing of the Fourteenth Amendment required that previous Confederate states ratify it in order to become part of the Union again, further securing and protecting an endangered race. In continuation of the Radicals plan to reinvigorate the South was the passing of the Fifteenth Amendment which not only guaranteed black suffrage but also ensured that any states who were still dismal would not be capable of amending their state constitutions to take away the ballot from blacks. Although this was rash in the eyes of the entering states, this allowed for the equality of races and created greater political opportunities for those of the black race to partake in government either as delegates or congressmen within their ... Cuba needs to alter its priorities if it ever wants the U.S. embargo removed to stimulate their economy as well as instill basic fundamental rights to it citizens. Regardless, history often repeats itself and Castro s leadership does not seem to be changing its socialist practices and might soon fall victim to another government takeover. Thought it is unlikely for Castro to change the economic stance of his country, the U.S embargo on Cuba proves a serious issue for Cuban citizens. A lack of basic technology, open trade, and resources from the U.S. leaves citizens dissatisfied with the government. • 30. Literary Devices In The Charge Of The Light Brigade In times of war, soldiers must surpass obstacles and be ready to face challenges. Witnessing the valiant efforts of these men who throw their lives on the line instills an insurmountable sense of pride in the hearts of spectators. Both Lord Alfred Tennyson s poem and Richard Caton Woodville Jr. s illustration entitled The Charge of the Light Brigade incorporate literary terms to express their feeling of pride towards the Light Brigade. Tennyson exhibits this by using repetition to signify the danger of fighting in battle, in addition to using imagery to help the reader imagine how terrifying war is while setting a respectful tone. Woodville shows pride through the dangerous setting, through the symbolism signifying the danger of fighting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, the artist uses setting. His addition of depressions in the ground and use of color scheme are examples of this. He deliberately uses the depressions to indicate how dangerous the environment is, and is proud that even though the men saw cannons being fired and bullets shooting at them, they still go through with their job. They understand that it is their duty to fight for their country no matter what obstacles they may face. The warm colors of the backdrop add onto this feeling because it indicates the artist is content with how the men were willing to put themselves forward. Symbolism is another literary term used by Woodville. For instance, this is shown when the men on horses hold up their sabres. The fact that the soldiers are pointing them towards their enemies show how they are not afraid, aware that they do not stand a chance against the other sides artillery. The artist s feeling is revealed here because although they know that they will be defeated, the men hold their weapons up high, continuing to charge and fight to the best of their abilities. They are courageous and ready to endure the pain. The most important literary device Woodville s uses to convey his feeling of pride is imagery. The poet shows this through the charging motion of the men on their horses. The soldiers lean forward and hold their weapons high riding towards their opponents their courage. Instead ...
