Separation And Qualitative Analysis Of Cations Lab
James Wood October 1, 2015 Experiment #05 Separation and Qualitative Analysis of Cations CHEM
1315 002 Purpose of the Experiment and Techniques: The purpose of this experiment is to
qualitatively determine the substances that are present in several mixtures. This will be performed
through analysis of ions present in the mixtures. In this experiment, six solutions will be tested
through various methods, such as mixing with various other test solutions to indicate the presence of
different cations. These tests will reveal what cations are present by whether or not it produces a
precipitant or if the solution changes colors. Chemicals and Materials Required: This experiment

Porsche Case Study Essay
Executive Review
Porsche is a company that prides itself in quality and customer satisfaction. Because of this customers
are always considered to be first priority for the company. The only issue with this business method is
that the shareholders do not feel valued. Porsche operates more like a family owned firm instead of
focusing mainly on shareholder value. While operating like a family owned firm may be admired by
some, it also has a downside. The company has been somewhat infamous for occasional stubbornness
when it comes to disclosure and compliance with reporting requirements. Following these guidelines
is a very important when trading publicly not only because it is a requirement, but also to establish
trust with investors. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. Vesi wondered if her position on Porsche might have to distinguish between the company s ability
to generate results for stockholders versus its willingness to do so. What do you think?
We think all companies should take shareholders value into consideration as long as they issue stocks
publicly traded, and thus need to have some ability to at least stimulate the shareholders interest or
curiosity. Yet a company still has a choice whether to actually focus on its shareholders value like
other companies do. This Porsche s case clearly explains its unique managerial/marketing strategy that
the company essentially focuses on cost control, development of new products, and brand loyalty and
high quality of its automobiles that arouse customers desire to possess. Therefore, in our opinion,
Porsche doesn t put its shareholders value on the first priority, but it still has to show some returns
(results) for its shareholders.
3. Is pursuing the interests of Porsche s controlling families different from maximizing the return to its
public share owners?
Pursuing the interests of Porsche s controlling families seems different from maximizing the return to
its public share owners because in general increasing owner s interests doesn t necessarily mean
maximizing shareholders interests. Like other companies

Balfour Declaration Of Independence
In 1917, before the United Nations was even created, the British government published the Balfour
Declaration which supported the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine (Immell 16). Inevitably, bad
feelings were going to rise between the native Arabs of Palestine and this new Balfour Declaration
that favored taking away some of Palestine land and setting it aside for Jewish immigrants. Over the
next 20 years, the number of Jews immigrating to Palestine increased due to the Zionist movemnt, and
so did Arab Jewish tensions. From 1936 1939, a large group of Arabs revolted. This revolt was led by
leaders who were unwilling to give any Palestine land for the establishment of a Jewish nation
(Cottrell 32 35). After this revolt and the growing Zionist movement, it would have seemed apparent
to the United Nations that the Arabs and Jews in Palestine needed to be separated. So although the
United Nations did pass Resolution 181 which essentially created the Jewish nation, Israel, the United
Nations merely carried out the legislature that was promised from the Balfour Declaration of the
British government. By not being able to peacefully live together, the Arabs and Jews of Palestine
themselves ended up playing a role in the separation and partition of Palestine ... Show more content

Some can argue that if Palestine had never been partitioned, then the Arab Israeli war would never
have happened. And while we will never know for sure, we can infer from tensions previous to the
creation of Israel, such as the Arab Revolt, that some conflict/war would have broken out anyways
between the Arab and Jewish people in Palestine. However, as the Arab Israeli war was mostly fought
in response to the creation of Israel, the United Nation s decision to partition Israel ultimately led to
the Arab Israeli war, and different conflicts involving land after

Essay On Submarines In The Civil War
Submarines in the Civil War
Bridger Barnes
Submarines in the civil war are important because submarines were new during that time ,and
submarines could change the war for either side. IT helped shape the way we fight wars. It also helped
shape the way we fight a war today. It also helped change the whole mindset of war. History
One of the first submarines was built in 1623 and it was ordered by King James the first. The sub was
built by Cornelius Drebbel. According to accounts from that time period it appeared to be a large
enclosed rowboat using twelve oarsmen for propulsion. It is said to have made a trip down the Thames
River submerged at a depth of about 15 feet. Some accounts go so far as to claim that James I took a
ride in Drebbel s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another sub known as The Turtle was built during the last half of the 1700s. John Day (the creator of
the Turtle) successfully built a small sub he used to submerge in shallow water. But one day, he and a
gambler made a bet on how long he could stay submerged in the middle of Plymouth Sound. It is
hypothesised that his sub collapsed under the greater pressure in the much deeper water and that is
what we think is the first death caused by submarine.
This is the Turtle
The most well known Union Civil War submarine was the U.S.S Alligator. The Alligator was designed
by a French inventor named Brutus de Villeroi. While under tow on the way to Charleston, South
Carolina, this sub was lost in a storm. There is a book the book is Secrets of the Civil War Submarine.
The books tells the story of the Alligator in more detail it also tells about its rediscovery.
The Alligator s main priority was to counter the Confederacy attacks that were in the sea. Record s
show how many days it took to make and how much it cost. It took 40 days and it cost $14,000.
The army to use battlized submarines was the Confederate States of America. There submarines were
steam powered. They named this subs Davids after David from the Bible. They named it this because

Summary Of Art Spiegelman s Maus
The book Maus, a graphic novel by Vladek Spiegelman s son, Art Spiegelman is written in the form of
a graphic novel. It elaborates on Vladek s adolescent experiences as a young jew during the Holocaust.
On a surface level, the photographs in Maus contributed to my understanding of the story by giving
Vladek s words a visual. The images tell the story in a direct way by expressing the emotions of his
father as the comic strips transition from the past to present. The format of this story certainly takes
some risks. To some audiences, this format could come off as a joke, as though Spiegelman wasn t
taking his father s story seriously. With a graphic novel usually used to depict fictionally, sci fi like
stories, the audience might think that Art is treating his father s experiences as if they were part of a

This story could possibly be negatively associated with a mocking tone. To some audiences, the way
that Spiegelman depicted the victims as mice and the Germans as cats, could come off as though
Spiegelman was mocking the victims with this prey and predator metaphor. The interviewer
challenges Spiegelman by asking the questions about the aspects of his book that make it the most
controversial. For example, Bolhafner says Harvey Pekar has commented that he feels you shouldn t
have used mice for any of it. He thinks it would have had more impact if you had used people, and is
critical of your using pigs for the Poles (Spiegelman, Art. Art for Art s Sake: Spiegelman Speaks on

Freudian Paradigm Of Mental Illness Research Paper
The Freudian paradigm of mental health states that that mental illness stems from repressed emotion,
and unidentified conflicts within the unconscious mind and could be treated using his personally
designed mode of therapy called, Psychoanalysis. Freud also believed that one could only understand
a person s mental illness through intimate understanding of that person s past and personality, not
through taxonomic diagnosis. Although Freud employed some use of taxonomy of mental illness, it
never was used consistently or in a uniformed manner that actually constituted a formal process or
standards for clinical diagnosis. The biomedical paradigm on the other hand attributes the cause of
mental illness to be specifically triggered by chemical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the Freudian Paradigm in itself could actually be understood in the context of Grahams
preferred Imperfect Rationality Theory. This is due to Freud s view on mental illness, and treatment
being on focused on mental and behavioral aspects of the mind, and a lack of rationality within the
person rather than the physiological dysfunction of the brain itself. In Freud s practice one does not
need chemical imbalance in the brain, or psychotropic drugs, for a person s mental illness to be

What Is The Tone Of The Visionary By Emily Bronte
The Visionary by Emily Bronte is a poem about the future, as indicated by its title, and focuses on the
feelings of the speaker such as the concern of safety and also the feelings of isolation and loneliness.
The dilemmas faced by the speaker are explored through contrasts as well as imagery and structure to
convey a tone of indecision but ambition throughout the poem. Bronte uses contrasts in order to
portray the polarised feelings between the inside of the house, where the speaker feels safe, and the
hostility faced outside. In the first line the house is personified and said to be silent which evokes
imagery of serenity and peace, whereas outside she is dreading every breeze ; the determiner every

The use of a dramatic monologue gives poem a more conversational and personal tone, much like the
reader entering the speaker s own thoughts. Through this narrative, the speaker focuses on her future
lover whom she describes as an angel (that) night tracks the waste of frozen snow . The supernatural
and religious imagery presents the idea of the speaker being almost ephemeral and omnibenevolent,
and in turn idealising them. This interpretation can be further supported through the reference of the
little lamp being the wanderer s guiding star , with the star in particular being an object which is
unreachable. The diminutive of little to describe the lamp has connotations of being vulnerable which
is contrasted from the strong rays that she sees. This may be symbolic of the disproportional amount
of hope and passion that she puts on this little lamp . The lover may also be likened to the snow, with
its white colour which is has connotations of being pure the colour in which angels are often depicted.
However, the setting of the frozen snow further adds to the idealizing of the lover at it shows his
determination to track through the bleak environment. More supernatural references are to describe
the lover in later stanzas such as visitant of air and Strange Power which implies that

Conversion Therapy Argumentative Essay
An individual s sexuality should not define who they are as a person. What is Conversion Therapy?
Sexual Orientation Conversion Therapy has a range of treatments that are designed in hopes to turn a
person s sexual orientation to heterosexual. Conversion therapy is also used in attempts to convert a
transgender person s gender expression to match with the gender given at birth. It is currently banned
for minors in 5 states (California, New York, New Jersey, Oregon, and Illinois) and the other 45 states
have no law against it. Many teens in this current time period are coming out as either lesbian, gay,
bisexual, transgender, and/or queer. Homosexuality is often seen as a negative effect towards society.
Some people may think that conversion therapies are wrong and that they should be banned

However, the most disputed one is aversion therapy as it is more likely for it to turn dangerous. In the
1970s, many conversion therapy programs used the electroshock technique or vomit inducing
chemical compounds when a person showed an attraction to a same sex individual. However the
techniques have changed overtime; for example: a milder aversive technique is encouraging someone
to snap a rubber band on his or her wrist when they are allowing themselves to be attracted to a same
sex individual. Many aversive techniques, ones that are particularly physically abusive actions, are
strongly disliked in the United States. Today, conversion therapies are influenced by conventional
psychotherapeutic practices to help people change their minds. People have argued that a traumatic
experience, including sexual abuse, can change an individual s sexual orientation. Therefore, people
believe a person s sexuality can be

Fire Academy Descriptive Writing
Fire Academy Teachings
The timer started, I had sixty seconds to put all my bunker gear on, and get my self contained breath
apparatus (SCBA) over my face and be ready to enter a fire. As I pulled my boots on, I could feel my
heart pounding and a little bead of sweat dripping down my face. Today I was going to be a
firefighter; today I was going to walk into my first real fire. Fire academy was an emotionally and
physically draining journey that required perseverance and dedication that lead me on a path to find
my passion and myself.
Firefighting had been a dream of mine for years, and I had finally made it into Fire Academy. The day
I walked into the fire station I had the feeling of a kid in the candy store. I had no idea how the next
six months would change me as a person. We trained our bodies both physically and emotionally. I did
thousands of pushups, learned to tie knots, practiced search and rescue, and studied my textbook for
long hours every night. I could feel my body tiring, and I could feel my mind getting weak. The

Political Risks Of A Country And Micro Analysis
One of the first steps in managing political risks is to analyze the political environment for risks to the
business. According to Luthans, the analysis of risk can be done with two types of political risk
analysis, Macro and Micro Analysis. Macro Analysis is an analysis of political ideas and decisions that
will impact all businesses in a country and Micro Analysis is an analysis of governmental regulations
and policies that affect a specific sector of on economy or market such as the auto industry (Luthans,
2015). However, there are other risks that can be more difficult to analyze such as terrorism especially
in today s political unrest. Some major corporations have spent thousands of dollars on macro and
micro analyses just to have a world event disrupt or completely destroy operations. Tata motors dealt
with political battles as well as a terrorist event. In a USA Today article titled India s Nano goes on
sale Sharon Silke reported that the Launch of was Six weeks late after political battle over the land
where the car was to be built. She also reported that terrorist attacks in November of the year prior to
the Nano s launch would affect its future success. When the Nano was first unveiled the economy was
in a good state where gas prices were rising and the world economy was becoming more stable. This
would improve the future for many lower income families in India allowing them to improve their
socioeconomic standing which in turn would have enable more

Lonesome Dove Analysis
Lonesome Dove is a story in the western genre written by Larry McMurty. The book was published in
1985 and was the first book of a tetralogy, but third in chronology. The book is about a strenuous cattle
drive from Texas to Montana. Lonesome Dove was a wholesome and interesting book that engages
your curiosity from the beginning to the end. In the beginning of the story they are in a small south
Texas town called lonesome Dove, where the two main characters Augustus McCrae and Woodrow
Call had settled down and started a livery stable after being famous Texas rangers. The journey starts
off after Jake Spoon rides into town talking about Montana and the untapped potential. That is what
sets them off on their journey driving cattle from Texas to Montana. As their journey began they had
many dilemmas, but I would say their first dilemma was the death of Sean O Brien a young Irish man
found with his brother Allen O Brien when they collected the cattle for the drive. That part of the story
was the first major event of the story driving fear in many of the crew. As the drive went north, so did
Jake spoon, who brought along a woman by the name of Lorena Wood. Lorena is a major character in
the story as she is a love interest of both Augustus McCrae, Jake Spoon ,and desired by many. The
story had an interesting offshoot that involved a sheriff from fort smith, Arkansas by the name of July
Johnson. This story begins with Jake Spoon who was in fort smith gambling when he got into a

History of Depression
History of Depression
Depressive illness has been known since biblical times. The word depression comes from the Latin
word deprimere (to press down). Thus it means feeling pressed down, sad or low. In the late Middle
Ages, religious leaders believed depression was caused by posession of evil spirits. The German
religious reformer Martin Luther wrote All heaviness of the mind and melancholy comes of the Devil.
Through the years depression has been treated with such remedies as whipping, bloodletting, exorcism
and soothing baths. By the 1960s, antidepressant medications were discovered that relieved depression
by correcting chemical imbalances in the brain and because of that many scientists started to believe

The Importance Of Architecture In Ancient Greek Architecture
Classical Architecture spans over a vast amount of time, although the main period Classical
Architecture is said to have started is during the Archaic Period in Ancient Greece. Greece during
these times wasn t a unified nation, but many independently governed city states. They all varied in
power, forces, defenses, economy, etc. Even though these city states remained separated throughout
Ancient Greece there was a unifying force. Greek mythology was an ideology that had been supported
all throughout Ancient Greece. A polytheistic religion that had various gods, as well as many forms of
the same god specific to certain areas. The King of the Gods was Zeus, and the next two most
influential Gods were Hera, and Athena. The importance of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although the Ionic order was much slender and was based on the proportions of a women. It was
based out of the Aegean Islands of Greece. The Ionic also differed because it had a base and a sculpted
frieze, and was also topped with a cornice and a pediment. What visually set the Ionic order apart from
the other orders although was the volutes on the capitals. Lastly, the last order invented by the Greeks
was the Corinthian order. This column was the slenderest of all the columns and the tallest. It was
built to the proportions of a young women and came out of the Greek Islands. The top just like the
others housed a pediment, but the entablature only had dentils. What really sets the Corinthian order
apart although is the sculpted capital in the shape of acanthus leaves. This order was the most ornate
and wasn t built until Hellenistic times in Ancient Greece. Nevertheless, the Greek orders were
intended for the religious temples that made the Greeks well known.
Many Greek Temples shared very common floor plans, a central cella housing a shrine to the
corresponding god the temple is for. As well as periptural columns, that wrapped around the exterior
of the building. Greek floor plans were inspired by the megaron plan, which led to symmetry being a
key element in the construction of temples as well. Greeks also were known for using limestone and

The Red Gaze Essay
Portraits are drawn for a reason by the artist, whether it is to send a hidden message or to hold a
memory intact. In the painting The Red Gaze by Arnold Schoenburg (1910), there seems to be a
painting of a face right on the center of the portrait with redness surrounding the eyes. The
Schoenburg clearly drew this painting to depict his feelings toward a time in his life where he was
most troubled and was stuck between a difficult decision. Moreover, this painting depicts tone, color,
and setting, in which all the elements describe change as a painful process and how it often makes the
person feel lost in the sense of not knowing whether to accept change. The idea of tone is depicted
within the portrait through symbolism of the gaping mouth in awe. Additionally, when a person is in
shock, they tend to drop their mouth s in astonishment, whether the person is in a happy or sad mood.
However, in this scenario the viewer can clearly depict that the usage of the color red around the eyes
and the mouth gaping open, is that this face is clearly dealing with a struggle. When a struggle is
presented, the situation can be confusing at times because usually a struggle means that there is a ...

complex than this. There are individuals that may be transitioning from a man to a woman or vice

Don John s Tragic Flaws
The definition of a tragic flaw is, a personality trait that ultimately leads to a character s own downfall.
Much Ado About Nothing clearly displays to the reader that Don John s actions coming from his
tragic flaws negatively affect him along with others around him. He is extremely jealous of the
success in Don Pedro and Claudio s lives, and is attempting to ruin Claudio and Hero s happiness in
their upcoming marriage. In the book, Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare, Don John
appears to be the character who is the most tragically flawed by being jealous and deceiving.

fulfilled his plan to ruin the wedding. The fact that he dilapidated

Ectopic Pregnancy In The United States
Introduction The topic I choose to do was Ectopic pregnancy. In a normal pregnancy, the ovaries
release an egg into the fallopian tube. If the egg meets with a sperm, the fertilized egg moves into the
uterus but in an Ectopic pregnancy the most common place for the egg to stay is in the fallopian tubes.
Ectopic pregnancy was first described and come to awareness in North Americans the 11th century; it
often was a fatal complication of pregnancy. In the 15th century (which is known as the middle ages
era) pregnancy was believed to be the outcome of a person being infertile. The first unreported ectopic
pregnancy was described in the results of an autopsy performed on a female prisoner who was
executed in 1693. Given the fact that technology was not as developed before the 20th century, the
methods used where not smart tactics to help the woman and developing embryo. Some of the main
methods that were used included starvation, cleansing, bleeding, and even treatment with highly toxic
chemicals that where often used to kill tiny animals. The methods listed above would often result in
the death of woman who were diagnosed with a ectopic pregnancy in the early 1600 s to the early
1700 s. I choose this topic because couples who are infertile are now turning to other birthing methods
such as IVF. IVF is one of the causes of ectopic pregnancy.

The Outbreak Of Wwi And World War II
The Outbreak of WWII World War II, a war that was fought globally to get revenge from each country
that Germany has lost from World War I, but this whole war was unexpected for any country. This
leads to the questions of What were Hitler s ultimate objectives? Was this war an essential or
incidental part of Hitler s program? Adolf Hitler, Chancellor of Germany, overturned the democratic
government, created the Third Reich, persecuted millions, and ultimately led Germany and the world
into World War II (definition from the book). There were several objectives for Hitler, such as, the end
of Jewish race, taking over Austria, Czechoslovakia and Poland, thus leading to a war globally again.
However, this war was an incidental part of his program, but Hitler was very enthused with war from
the experience of World War I. This essay will discuss about Nazi foreign policy, Hitler s ultimate
objectives, and if the war was essential or incidental. First of all, a foreign policy is a government s
policy relating to matters beyond its own jurisdiction, its usually relations with other nations and
international organizations. However, the Nazi foreign policy was mostly made up of two ideas, the
need for the space (Lebensraum) and race, Germany wanted to expand its nation and its living space.
There was a superiority race in Germany, which was the Aryan race and the Jews were not superior,
this is called the Social Darwinism. Nazi foreign policy was a debate between politicians to

The Great Zen Wedding
There are certain authors in our society whose bazar antics and unconventional behavior create a cult
following for years to come. In The Great Zen Wedding Charles Bukowski confronts his ideals of
marriage by satirizing his friend s marriage. Charles Bukowski views marriage as being untrue and
without love. Charles Bukowski displays his falsification of marriage through; Harvey and the couple
are unauthentic, Charles being authentic and Charles pointing out the flaws in marriage without
placing himself above it. When it comes to inauthenticity, Charles Bukowski has very little problem
pointing it out. Throughout the story The Great Zen Wedding Charles Bukowski has multiple

begins with Bukowski looking at the Zen master s ears and in his belligerence confronts the Zen
master by saying I either want both your motherfucking ears or your motherfucking outfit...
(Bukowski 50). He believed that his ears or his wardrobe made the Zen master holy and attempts to
take either from him. After the failed encounter with the Zen master Bukowski does the next thing that

The Importance Of Suzy s Intention During World War Two

you stabbed her. Does Suzy have the right to condemn you even though it wasn t your intention?
Ponder for a moment whether you should be judged by the result or your intention. Let s shift gears
and go to Hitler s goal in launching World War II. The Nazi dictator wanted room for the German race,
which is a likeable intention. Carrying out this goal is how he should be judged. Killing six million
human beings is so horrendously terrible. No matter what intention, this situation should definitely be
judged by the results. The actions you take to carry out your intentions is what should be judged by.

The Barbaric Nature Of The Atomic Bomb
January 31, 1943, Germany finally surrendered to the Soviet Union. A major victory for the Allies, but
WWII is not over yet. The battle with Japan is about to reach its end, the Manhattan project was a top
secret US government project that produced the atomic bomb. President truman determined the atomic
bombs could be used against Japan to lower the cost and US casualties for the war. And with Japanese
unhappy response to the Allies Postdam Declaration they sealed their fate. The air raids for WWII
formally targeted only military bases and factories, the brutality of the war stretched to the home

WWII had taken the Allies four long years to defeat Germany, while the US faced Japan for two years.
Ever country was running low on resources and exhausted from the back to back battles, the defeat of
Japan needed to happen and fast. The allies devised a plan to make bombs for air raids that lowered
the destructive power and increased the accuracy and efficiency, as to allow planes to carry more and
hit all their targets. They also used means of psychological warfare to defeat Japan quicker and to
show other countries how powerful they are, It was agreed that psychological factors in the target
selection were of great importance. Two aspects of this are (1) obtaining the greatest psychological
effect against Japan and (2) making the initial use sufficiently spectacular for the importance of the
weapon to be internationally recognized when publicity on it is released. (Target Committee,Los
Alamos, May 10 11, 1945) The decision also helped shorten the war, and for all countries that is the
ultimate goal. To gain victory as fast as possible to limit the lives lost and resources used in the war.
Another concurrent argument supporting the use of the bomb is that it achieved its primary objective
of shortening the war. The bombs were dropped on August 6 and 9. The next day, the Japanese
requested a halting of the war. On August 14 Emperor Hirohito announced to the Japanese people that

Arthur Andersen Case Study
Arthur Andersen Co. was founded in Chicago by Arthur Andersen, a young Northwestern University
professor and his partner, Clarence DeLany in 1913 but, DeLany left the partnership in 1918 so the
firm s name was changed to Arthur Andersen and Company. (Encyclopedia of Chicago, 2005) Thus,
Andersen began as a pioneer accounting firm who offered customers help with new federal income
taxes and other accounting problems and its first client was the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company of
Milwaukee. Unfortunately Arthur Andersen passed away in 1947, but the firm s leadership was passed
to Leonard Spacek.
Nevertheless, Mr. Spacek shaped the firm into a genuine international company and during his 26 year
term (1947 1973), the firm s client base rose from 2,300 to 50,000. Still, the company became
increasingly involved in providing consulting services in the 1970s and in 1988, the Arthur Andersen
Co. (AA Co.) was the largest consulting firm in the world. By this time, I had joined the firm as a
Senior Executive Assistant and in 1989 after years of disharmony; the firm was split into two
companies, AA Co. (accounting services) and Andersen Consulting (consulting services). Although
these entities were financially separate, they were governed by Switzerland based Arthur Andersen
Société Cooperative later named Andersen Worldwide SC, the ruling body of the worldwide Andersen
organization.
Thereafter around 1994, Andersen developed its own consulting business under the leadership of

Mistakes Ruining A Discovery
Can you mess something up and make a great discovery? Mistakes can ruin a discovery and mess it up
for everyone. Mistakes are not a key to making a discovery because it can cost when a mistake is
made and a mistake does not define a discovery.
It has been argued that, Mistakes are key to making discoveries because you can end up finding more
than you expect. You can discover something on accident that can lead to greatness. According to the
Utah State of Education Standing near the Magnetron one day while it was on, Spencer noticed the bar
of chocolate in his pocket had melted. He had a moment of realization. He asked for popcorn kernels,
and put them near the heat. Minutes later, the man we can thank for microwave popcorn had a
discovery on his hands. This supports my claim because spencer had left a candy bar in his pocket that
melted on accident but that lead to a lifetime discovery. People all around the world microwave

It took almost 20 years after the melted chocolate moment to bring a commercial microwave to the
public. The equally important process after discovery is also ignored. Scientist need to test their ideas
with care and make as few mistakes as possible (Sanchez). This supports my claim because its saying
how you can t just make a discovery with one mistake it took a while to process and be able to
confirm the discovery.According to Thomas Edison inventing was 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent
perspiration. The typical role of a mistake in science is not a brilliant invention, but to teach a scientist
to do better next time. This also supports my claim because mistakes do not lead to a discovery there
is a lot more to decide if it is a worthy

What Is The Kirishima Thing Essay
There was a big sensation in Japan when a writer Suzuki Shou published his book School caste in

In his book, he reports that this system operates to all students and decides their status in class. This
neologism spread throughout Japan, driving media to produce plenty of pieces reflecting it. The
Kirishima Thing, directed by Daihachi Yoshida is also about school caste system in modern Japan
society. Unlike other classroom dramas focusing on the most popular guy Kirishima in this movie, this
movie spotlights the bystanders of Kirishima by not showing him at all. Through non linear narrative

Examples Of Inequalities In Harrison Bergeron
Inequality is something that humanity has faced since the beginning of time; it seems like it will never
be worked out. There is really no way for everyone in the whole world to be equal no matter how
much work is put into it. Inequality in Harrison Bergeron was tackled in grand way. There were many
ways that gifted people were brought down to reach the level of those with special needs. The way
inequality was handed to such an extent makes one wonder why certain equalities were held higher
than others and what went on for there to be 213 amendments. In the story, George Bergeron has
intelligence way above normal, while Hazel Bergeron had perfectly normal intelligence which means
that she couldn t think about anything for too long. Those with superior intelligence had their mental
handicap that kept them from thinking for too long so they would be on the level of the average
people. The way that intelligence is shut down makes one wonder if the government has gotten rid of
any sort of tutoring or remedial work for struggling students. Are they forced to struggle? Or is
everyone also struggling? Intelligence is a good example of how the government brings everyone

The Destination is the glowing heartbeat of the story. A refrain filled with both longing and sadness, it
hints at the many struggles faced by thousands upon thousands trying to get by in the city of Shanghai.
One of these lost souls, the protagonist, Chen Xin, was one of the many youths taken from his family

Xin views the repercussions of the Cultural Revolution internally and externally as he processes the
changes that both he, and his hometown have over gone in the past ten years. Devastatingly, he comes

Bogdanov And Goold Analysis
Thou wouldst be great, art not without ambition, but without the illness should attend it. (Shakespeare
23) In their adaptations of William Shakespeare s play Macbeth, directors Michael Bogdanov and
Rupert Goold depict the possible detrimental effects of ambition and the subsequent guilt that follows
once the task is carried out.
Both Bogdanov and Goold have projected their films into a time period well beyond Shakespeare s
age of the late 1600 s. The 1998 film appears to be set in a post apocalyptic environment reminiscent
of the 90 s, while the 2010 film takes place during World War II.

The pivotal factor that indicates the strong impact a film has on a viewer stems from the extent of
which an individual feels a connection towards a character. The Lady Macbeth of Goold s
interpretation undergoes a large yet gradual transition from highly motivated to highly depressed. In
contrast, viewers of Bogdanov s film observe that Lady Macbeth experiences her development quite
rapidly. Ultimately, I feel more pity for Goold s version of Lady Macbeth. If she had not ended her
life, perhaps she would no longer be ashamed to wear a heart so white (35) after realizing how
negatively her actions affect not only her, but Macbeth himself. Goold s film acts as the very painting

  • 2. Separation And Qualitative Analysis Of Cations Lab James Wood October 1, 2015 Experiment #05 Separation and Qualitative Analysis of Cations CHEM 1315 002 Purpose of the Experiment and Techniques: The purpose of this experiment is to qualitatively determine the substances that are present in several mixtures. This will be performed through analysis of ions present in the mixtures. In this experiment, six solutions will be tested through various methods, such as mixing with various other test solutions to indicate the presence of different cations. These tests will reveal what cations are present by whether or not it produces a precipitant or if the solution changes colors. Chemicals and Materials Required: This experiment employs the use of the following test solutions: 6 molar hydrochloric ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If more precipitate forms, continue to add hydrochloric acid until no more precipitant forms. Centrifuge once more and dispose of wash water. Add 1mL of distilled water to Test Tube 1. Heat the tube in the hot water bath for three minutes, stirring approximately every 30 seconds. Centrifuge while hot and decant the liquid from the tube quickly into Test Tube 2. Add 5 drops of sulfuric acid to Test Tube 2. If lead(II) ions are present, white precipitant will form. • 3. Porsche Case Study Essay Executive Review Porsche is a company that prides itself in quality and customer satisfaction. Because of this customers are always considered to be first priority for the company. The only issue with this business method is that the shareholders do not feel valued. Porsche operates more like a family owned firm instead of focusing mainly on shareholder value. While operating like a family owned firm may be admired by some, it also has a downside. The company has been somewhat infamous for occasional stubbornness when it comes to disclosure and compliance with reporting requirements. Following these guidelines is a very important when trading publicly not only because it is a requirement, but also to establish trust with investors. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2. Vesi wondered if her position on Porsche might have to distinguish between the company s ability to generate results for stockholders versus its willingness to do so. What do you think? We think all companies should take shareholders value into consideration as long as they issue stocks publicly traded, and thus need to have some ability to at least stimulate the shareholders interest or curiosity. Yet a company still has a choice whether to actually focus on its shareholders value like other companies do. This Porsche s case clearly explains its unique managerial/marketing strategy that the company essentially focuses on cost control, development of new products, and brand loyalty and high quality of its automobiles that arouse customers desire to possess. Therefore, in our opinion, Porsche doesn t put its shareholders value on the first priority, but it still has to show some returns (results) for its shareholders. 3. Is pursuing the interests of Porsche s controlling families different from maximizing the return to its public share owners? Pursuing the interests of Porsche s controlling families seems different from maximizing the return to its public share owners because in general increasing owner s interests doesn t necessarily mean maximizing shareholders interests. Like other companies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Balfour Declaration Of Independence In 1917, before the United Nations was even created, the British government published the Balfour Declaration which supported the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine (Immell 16). Inevitably, bad feelings were going to rise between the native Arabs of Palestine and this new Balfour Declaration that favored taking away some of Palestine land and setting it aside for Jewish immigrants. Over the next 20 years, the number of Jews immigrating to Palestine increased due to the Zionist movemnt, and so did Arab Jewish tensions. From 1936 1939, a large group of Arabs revolted. This revolt was led by leaders who were unwilling to give any Palestine land for the establishment of a Jewish nation (Cottrell 32 35). After this revolt and the growing Zionist movement, it would have seemed apparent to the United Nations that the Arabs and Jews in Palestine needed to be separated. So although the United Nations did pass Resolution 181 which essentially created the Jewish nation, Israel, the United Nations merely carried out the legislature that was promised from the Balfour Declaration of the British government. By not being able to peacefully live together, the Arabs and Jews of Palestine themselves ended up playing a role in the separation and partition of Palestine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some can argue that if Palestine had never been partitioned, then the Arab Israeli war would never have happened. And while we will never know for sure, we can infer from tensions previous to the creation of Israel, such as the Arab Revolt, that some conflict/war would have broken out anyways between the Arab and Jewish people in Palestine. However, as the Arab Israeli war was mostly fought in response to the creation of Israel, the United Nation s decision to partition Israel ultimately led to the Arab Israeli war, and different conflicts involving land after ... • 5. Essay On Submarines In The Civil War Submarines in the Civil War Bridger Barnes Submarines in the civil war are important because submarines were new during that time ,and submarines could change the war for either side. IT helped shape the way we fight wars. It also helped shape the way we fight a war today. It also helped change the whole mindset of war. History One of the first submarines was built in 1623 and it was ordered by King James the first. The sub was built by Cornelius Drebbel. According to accounts from that time period it appeared to be a large enclosed rowboat using twelve oarsmen for propulsion. It is said to have made a trip down the Thames River submerged at a depth of about 15 feet. Some accounts go so far as to claim that James I took a ride in Drebbel s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another sub known as The Turtle was built during the last half of the 1700s. John Day (the creator of the Turtle) successfully built a small sub he used to submerge in shallow water. But one day, he and a gambler made a bet on how long he could stay submerged in the middle of Plymouth Sound. It is hypothesised that his sub collapsed under the greater pressure in the much deeper water and that is what we think is the first death caused by submarine. This is the Turtle The most well known Union Civil War submarine was the U.S.S Alligator. The Alligator was designed by a French inventor named Brutus de Villeroi. While under tow on the way to Charleston, South Carolina, this sub was lost in a storm. There is a book the book is Secrets of the Civil War Submarine. The books tells the story of the Alligator in more detail it also tells about its rediscovery. The Alligator s main priority was to counter the Confederacy attacks that were in the sea. Record s show how many days it took to make and how much it cost. It took 40 days and it cost $14,000. The army to use battlized submarines was the Confederate States of America. • 6. Summary Of Art Spiegelman s Maus The book Maus, a graphic novel by Vladek Spiegelman s son, Art Spiegelman is written in the form of a graphic novel. It elaborates on Vladek s adolescent experiences as a young jew during the Holocaust. On a surface level, the photographs in Maus contributed to my understanding of the story by giving Vladek s words a visual. The images tell the story in a direct way by expressing the emotions of his father as the comic strips transition from the past to present. The format of this story certainly takes some risks. To some audiences, this format could come off as a joke, as though Spiegelman wasn t taking his father s story seriously. With a graphic novel usually used to depict fictionally, sci fi like stories, the audience might think that Art is treating his father s experiences as if they were part of a fictional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This story could possibly be negatively associated with a mocking tone. To some audiences, the way that Spiegelman depicted the victims as mice and the Germans as cats, could come off as though Spiegelman was mocking the victims with this prey and predator metaphor. The interviewer challenges Spiegelman by asking the questions about the aspects of his book that make it the most controversial. For example, Bolhafner says Harvey Pekar has commented that he feels you shouldn t have used mice for any of it. He thinks it would have had more impact if you had used people, and is critical of your using pigs for the Poles (Spiegelman, Art. Art for Art s Sake: Spiegelman Speaks on RAWS s Past, Present, and Future. Interview by J. Stephen Bolhafner. The Comics Journal #145 Oct. 1991). Freudian Paradigm Of Mental Illness Research Paper The Freudian paradigm of mental health states that that mental illness stems from repressed emotion, and unidentified conflicts within the unconscious mind and could be treated using his personally designed mode of therapy called, Psychoanalysis. Freud also believed that one could only understand a person s mental illness through intimate understanding of that person s past and personality, not through taxonomic diagnosis. Although Freud employed some use of taxonomy of mental illness, it never was used consistently or in a uniformed manner that actually constituted a formal process or standards for clinical diagnosis. The biomedical paradigm on the other hand attributes the cause of mental illness to be specifically triggered by chemical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the Freudian Paradigm in itself could actually be understood in the context of Grahams preferred Imperfect Rationality Theory. This is due to Freud s view on mental illness, and treatment being on focused on mental and behavioral aspects of the mind, and a lack of rationality within the person rather than the physiological dysfunction of the brain itself. What Is The Tone Of The Visionary By Emily Bronte The Visionary by Emily Bronte is a poem about the future, as indicated by its title, and focuses on the feelings of the speaker such as the concern of safety and also the feelings of isolation and loneliness. The dilemmas faced by the speaker are explored through contrasts as well as imagery and structure to convey a tone of indecision but ambition throughout the poem. Bronte uses contrasts in order to portray the polarised feelings between the inside of the house, where the speaker feels safe, and the hostility faced outside. In the first line the house is personified and said to be silent which evokes imagery of serenity and peace, whereas outside she is dreading every breeze ; the determiner every implying the relentlessness of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The use of a dramatic monologue gives poem a more conversational and personal tone, much like the reader entering the speaker s own thoughts. Through this narrative, the speaker focuses on her future lover whom she describes as an angel (that) night tracks the waste of frozen snow . The supernatural and religious imagery presents the idea of the speaker being almost ephemeral and omnibenevolent, and in turn idealising them. This interpretation can be further supported through the reference of the little lamp being the wanderer s guiding star , with the star in particular being an object which is unreachable. The diminutive of little to describe the lamp has connotations of being vulnerable which is contrasted from the strong rays that she sees. This may be symbolic of the disproportional amount of hope and passion that she puts on this little lamp . The lover may also be likened to the snow, with its white colour which is has connotations of being pure the colour in which angels are often depicted. However, the setting of the frozen snow further adds to the idealizing of the lover at it shows his determination to track through the bleak environment. More supernatural references are to describe the lover in later stanzas such as visitant of air and Strange Power which implies that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the beginning of the story they are in a small south Texas town called lonesome Dove, where the two main characters Augustus McCrae and Woodrow Call had settled down and started a livery stable after being famous Texas rangers. The journey starts off after Jake Spoon rides into town talking about Montana and the untapped potential. That is what sets them off on their journey driving cattle from Texas to Montana. As their journey began they had many dilemmas, but I would say their first dilemma was the death of Sean O Brien a young Irish man found with his brother Allen O Brien when they collected the cattle for the drive. That part of the story was the first major event of the story driving fear in many of the crew. As the drive went north, so did Jake spoon, who brought along a woman by the name of Lorena Wood. Lorena is a major character in the story as she is a love interest of both Augustus McCrae, Jake Spoon ,and desired by many. They also used means of psychological warfare to defeat Japan quicker and to show other countries how powerful they are, It was agreed that psychological factors in the target selection were of great importance. Two aspects of this are (1) obtaining the greatest psychological effect against Japan and (2) making the initial use sufficiently spectacular for the importance of the weapon to be internationally recognized when publicity on it is released. • 29. Arthur Andersen Case Study Arthur Andersen Co. was founded in Chicago by Arthur Andersen, a young Northwestern University professor and his partner, Clarence DeLany in 1913 but, DeLany left the partnership in 1918 so the firm s name was changed to Arthur Andersen and Company. (Encyclopedia of Chicago, 2005) Thus, Andersen began as a pioneer accounting firm who offered customers help with new federal income taxes and other accounting problems and its first client was the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company of Milwaukee. Unfortunately Arthur Andersen passed away in 1947, but the firm s leadership was passed to Leonard Spacek. Nevertheless, Mr. Spacek shaped the firm into a genuine international company and during his 26 year term (1947 1973), the firm s client base rose from 2,300 to 50,000. Still, the company became increasingly involved in providing consulting services in the 1970s and in 1988, the Arthur Andersen Co. (AA Co.) was the largest consulting firm in the world. By this time, I had joined the firm as a Senior Executive Assistant and in 1989 after years of disharmony; the firm was split into two companies, AA Co. (accounting services) and Andersen Consulting (consulting services). Although these entities were financially separate, they were governed by Switzerland based Arthur Andersen Société Cooperative later named Andersen Worldwide SC, the ruling body of the worldwide Andersen organization. Thereafter around 1994, Andersen developed its own consulting business under the leadership of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mistakes are not a key to making a discovery because it can cost when a mistake is made and a mistake does not define a discovery. It has been argued that, Mistakes are key to making discoveries because you can end up finding more than you expect. You can discover something on accident that can lead to greatness. According to the Utah State of Education Standing near the Magnetron one day while it was on, Spencer noticed the bar of chocolate in his pocket had melted. He had a moment of realization. He asked for popcorn kernels, and put them near the heat. Minutes later, the man we can thank for microwave popcorn had a discovery on his hands. This supports my claim because spencer had left a candy bar in his pocket that melted on accident but that lead to a lifetime discovery. People all around the world microwave popcorn. ... The equally important process after discovery is also ignored. Scientist need to test their ideas with care and make as few mistakes as possible (Sanchez). The typical role of a mistake in science is not a brilliant invention, but to teach a scientist to do better next time. While this is understandable considering the message that Spencer has been known to preach, the Ohio State University has been accused of denying Richard Spencer his first amendment right. An attorney for Ohio State told Spencer that while the University valued freedom of speech, the speach would cause a serious threat to public safety. Spencer s response was a lawsuit against Ohio State University. Spencer had sued several other schools in the past as they wouldn t allow him to speak and it appears that he has now sued Ohio State. There is really no way for everyone in the whole world to be equal no matter how much work is put into it. Inequality in Harrison Bergeron was tackled in grand way. There were many ways that gifted people were brought down to reach the level of those with special needs. The way inequality was handed to such an extent makes one wonder why certain equalities were held higher than others and what went on for there to be 213 amendments. In the story, George Bergeron has intelligence way above normal, while Hazel Bergeron had perfectly normal intelligence which means that she couldn t think about anything for too long. Those with superior intelligence had their mental handicap that kept them from thinking for too long so they would be on the level of the average people. Both Bogdanov and Goold have projected their films into a time period well beyond Shakespeare s age of the late 1600 s. The 1998 film appears to be set in a post apocalyptic environment reminiscent of the 90 s, while the 2010 film takes place during World War II.
