Mortal Man Poem
Long ago there was a mortal man in love with the daughter of a water god; however, the water
god did not approve of the mortal man. He was angry with the mortal for wishing to take his
daughter and marry her. To keep the mortal man and his daughter apart, the god created a long, tall
hill that stretched from horizon to horizon.. There were no dips, and it was impossible to climb.
It seemed hopeless, but the mortal man was clever. He would stop at nothing to reach his love, so he
started to dig. The man dug and dug, creating long tunnels through the hill. There were many
tunnels because the man would reach a place he could no longer dig, and the wide expanse of hill
was confusing. Soon, dirt and rock piled up around the hill, creating slopes. It took years to finally
dig through the hill to the other side. One he was through, the mortal man almost fell and started
crying. There was no water. His love could not survive here. ... Show more content on

She cried for days and days, flooding the earth around the hill. Her tears flowed through the tunnels,
filling them and creating rivers. As the water rose, the piled up earth was pushed into the hill to
create mountains. The mortal man and his love now had a way to meet.
The water god felt guilty to cause his daughter such pain. He really did love her but he wanted what
he thought was best for her. Knowing that his daughter would never be happy without the mortal
man, the god allowed her to go down to him. Shortly after reuniting, the mortal man and the
daughter of the water god were married. They lived in the first ever mountains and rivers that their

regular CSDs, bottlers added sugar or high fructose corn syrup themselves. The concentrate

A typical concentrate manufacturing plant, which could cover a geographic area as large as the

concentrate producers implemented and financed marketing programs jointly with bottlers, they

ANZAC Legend Assignment
History Term 4: ANZAC Research Assignment
Australia participated in of one of the greatest global wars in history, World War 1, as a part of
the Allied Forces. This war was also believed to be, at the time, the war to end all wars. It started
on the 28th of July 1914 and was triggered by the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, the Archduke
of Austria. On the 25th of April 1915, the British Empire sent the Australian and New Zealand
Army Corp to Gallipoli in an invasion where the young soldiers were essentially led on a suicide
mission. They were outnumbered. The campaign ended in a gruesome and horrific massacre of the
ANZAC troops. The battle between Australia and Turkey on the Gallipoli Campaign during World
War 1 is often glorified in the recognition of the ANZAC s excessive qualities such as courage and
endurance; which is now known as the ANZAC Legend. However, it is undeniable that the reality
of how the ANZAC legend was altered through propaganda, exaggeration and misunderstanding to
portray a successful campaign.
The fact that the ANZAC Legend was highly exaggerated is not often debated for the purpose of
attempting to convince citizens that the deaths of the soldiers who fought in the Gallipoli
Campaign were not in vain. we need to scrape off the barnacles and make sure the
commemorations are actually about the soldiers and the tragedy of what they endured (Payne,
2015). Many of the legendary actions taken by ANZAC soldiers have been overstated so that the

Examples Of Sigmund Freud Thou Shalt Love Thy Neighbor As...
Sigmund Freud responds to the commandment, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself by
recognizing the culture of personal ego and human aggression shown during the laws of society
that protect the love of objects (Freud 232). Sigmund Freud stated that the only reason that people
support laws is that it enable them to keep the objects of their lives close to them, builds new love
relationships, and protects friendships with other people in the community. Some people follow
this commandment because it focuses on the want to create new love relationships with others.
People do not support laws that will cause anxiety and chaos to their family, communities and
themselves. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself is a language of sublimation symbolizing human
wish have a loving relationship with others. Freud believes that sublimation has been just a
function of one s ego that makes them want, love it: it is not a conscious thought. People will
abide by laws that show thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself because they have an unconscious
want to do so since they want to be loved and want their loving relationships protected and be
supported by their neighbors.
Freud referred to the Hobbes argument that humans are naturally hostile to one another, humans
depend on their own man made devices and hostile nature, leading humanity into a war where a
man will be against each other (Hobbes 1906, 96). Human civilization is an effort to set up
limitations for man s aggressive

Themes in Raymond Carver s Literature Essay
Themes in Raymond Carver s Literature
In Short Cuts, by Raymond Carver, characters experience trials and problems in their lives, whether
extreme such as in A Small, Good Thing and Lemonade or nominal such as in Vitamins . They all
seem to depict these struggles as uphill battles which the characters cannot and mostly do not
overcome. The characters throughout Carver s Short Cuts struggle through their lives in private
desperation, often to ultimately realize that they are bound to the truth of who they really are,
which is shown in the story Neighbors.
In Neighbors , Bill and Arlene Miller are a couple with menial jobs who give credence to the saying

Well, I wish it was us (14), Jim says as he waves goodbye to his neighbors on their way to another
vacation.
The Miller are asked to house sit for their neighbors. The each go into the apartment separately,
trying to uncover some aspect of the Stone s lives, keeping it a secret from the other what they are
doing. It is ultimately realized at the end that they are both doing more than feeding the cat when
they go into the apartment.
The Miller s searching through their neighbor s apartment is symbolic of their search for meaning
in their own lives. Because they are not satisfied with the way they live, they project the Stones life
onto their own, to the extent of pretending to live in their apartment, if only for one moment.
Bill s fantasy of being like the Stone s may be shown by his actions of taking a bottle of Harriet s

Stone s apartment. It is likely that he felt he was leaving behind the false persona of who and how
he wanted to live like.
After more frequent trips into the Stone s apartment, Bill begins to wear their clothing, which is
also symbolic of trying to put on

Animal Welfare ( Dairy Cattle ) Code Of Welfare Essay
Animal Welfare (Dairy Cattle) Code of Welfare 2014 Overview This code gives animal owner
and the person in charge of the animals guidelines of minimum standard of care and
management taken when caring for dairy cows in New Zealand. The code of welfare for dairy
cows would be especially important as the dairy industry is becoming increasingly important in
New Zealand, the high demand in dairy product would mean more farmers would have to
provide adequate care and welfare for the ever increasing dairy cows produced. This code gives
the owner or the person in charge of the animals a list of 6 minimum standards to follow whilst
managing dairy cows, the minimum standards listed includes the stockmanship, the physical
environment, health, and husbandry practices. The owner or person in charge of the cattle must
follow the minimum requirements, the failure to comply to the minimum standards may be
used as evidence to prosecute under the Animal Welfare Act (1999). Positive Attributes The
code of welfare for dairy cows at part 4.4 states that cow and calves must be able to lie down and
rest for a sufficient amount of time per day to meet their behavioural needs (Placeholder1). This
is proven to an important aspect while managing dairy cows as providing an open paddock for the
cows to lie down and rest would increase the cows well being and comfort as well as increasing
production (D. B. Haley, J. Rushen, A. M. de PassillГ©, 2000), as opposed to cows being housed

Songs That Have Stood the Test of Time and Geography
Part 1 Background and Identification There are quite a number of songs that have stood the test of
time and geography to remain as vital and popular today as they were when first composed.
Perhaps it is because some of these songs simply transcend time and place and appeal to the core of
human emotion. Who cannot feel a thrill of excitement and humanity at the finale of Beethoven s
9th Symphony, or shed a tear at a favorite Christmas carol? One song that fits this transcendence
is La Vie En Rose, literally, Life in Pink. This was first made popular in 1946 by French torch
singer Edith Piaf. Translated from the French idiom, the piece means seeing life through rose
colored glasses, rather perfect for Piaff s life and vocal talent, and even more perfect for a world
turned upside down because of World War II. At first, Piaf s colleagues and team did not think
the song would be at all successful, yet it became a favorite with audiences around the world, and
Piaf s signature song (Bret, 2009). The song quickly became so popular it was translated into
several languages, and then the greatest compliment of all imitated by singers in many different
genres. Ironic since the words were almost hastily scribbled on a cocktail napkin while Piaf was
drinking with her friend Marianne Michel at a cafГѓ on the Champs Elysees (Burke, 2011, p. 118).
Also, besides over 50 artists interpreting and recording the work, it was recently made into a stage
play and surprisingly successful

The element mercury was known to ancient Egypt and China. They used it thinking it would
prolong their life. It is one of the metal which is liquid in normal pressure and temperature.
Which helps us to understand many parameters which are dependent on pressure and
temperature. It was recognized as an element by A. L. Lavoisier in the 18th century. Some of the

It is also used in making switches and various other electronic apparatus. It is also used in make
thermometers and barometers because of its greatest density of 13.534 gm cm to power of 3, it
does not need a large tube to measure the pressure and thermometer. Like in a barometer if we
use water then we would need a tube of 10.4m to measure the atmospheric temperature but if we
use mercury we can measure the atmospheric temperature in a tube on only 0.76m. In a
thermometers because of its large range of the boiling and melting points, it helps us to measure
a large range of temperature. It also been used for making batteries. It can also be used to dental
amalgams. Mercury is used to make dental amalgam because when it is mixed with amalgam
powder, the compound it creates is soft enough to press on the tooth. it also becomes hard very
fast which helps it to withstand the force of biting. But it has raised question on whether it is
safe and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) evaluated the research and told it is safe for
people above 6 years of age. **** One of the disadvantage of mercury is that it is toxic in nature
due to which it has to be handled with care. Due to which it can result in death of people if they
get mercury poisoning and if it is not treated in time. Due to mercury we are now able to make
thermometers and barometers which has helped the people a lot. Due to it has helped us to find

Creativity And The Mad Genius
Creativity and the Mad Genius On July 2, 1961, Ernest Hemingway put a gun to his head.
Seventy one years earlier, on July 29, 1890, Vincent van Gogh shot himself in the abdomen
while painting a wheat field. Robin Williams hung himself on August 24, 2014, less than two
centuries after Vincent van Gogh. Along with Ludwig von Beethoven, who died of natural
causes in 1827, four of the greatest creative minds each suffered from bipolar disorder,
depression, or epilepsy, usually suffering from other physical ailments as well. Ernest
Hemingway was the only one to seem to have a genetic disposition towards mental illness. None
of these men led similar lives. Van Gogh only saw one of his paintings sold, while Beethoven
was an acclaimed composer by the age of twenty nine. Hemingway was friends with some of the
greatest literary minds of the day, and Robin Williams was one of the most successful comedians
to date. The common link, besides their mental illnesses, is the idea that each of these men were
searching for something more within their respective arts. Four fields of fine arts that require the
constant creation of something new claimed the lives of four men who gave it all they had, some
losing, and some finding themselves along the way. Over the past sixty years, facts about
depression and the reality of it have come to light; however, there are still negative stigmas
concerning the mental illness and how people ought to endure through the pain. Despite these

The Effect Of Hieroglyphics On The Rosetta Stone
Arguably one of the most important discoveries made regarding the historical and cultural study of
ancient Egypt is the translation of the writing form known as hieroglyphics. This language, lost for
thousands of years, formed a tantalizing challenge to a young Jean François who committed his
life to its translation. Scholars such as Sylvestre de Sacy had attempted to translate the Rosetta
Stone before Champollion, but after painstaking and unfruitful work, they abandoned it (Giblin 32).
Champollion s breakthrough with hieroglyphics on the Rosetta Stone opened up new possibilities
to study and understand ancient Egyptlike never before, and modern Egyptology was born.
The Rosetta Stone was found in the town of Rosetta and sent to French ... Show more content on

Although he was able to find them, he was not able to decipher an alphabetical system that
applied to the rest of the text. It seemed that the other symbols represented things, not letters.
Having reached a dead end in his work, he gave up, saying, The problem is too complicated,
scientifically insoluble (Giblin 32). A few others continued after him with the same idea of a
solely alphabetical system, but they all came to the same dead end and were not able to make any
progress.
One of the first scholars to make any real headway on the translation was Thomas Young, a British
polymath (Silet 1). Being a polymath and not understanding any of the language to begin with,
Young meticulously inspected the stone, looking for recurring patterns and recording the number
of times each symbol was repeated (Meyerson 123). Young knew that Ptolemys were Greek, so he
assumed that the name Ptolemaios, spelled in the Greek style, would appear spelled the same way
in the hieroglyphic section. Indeed he did find several times the cartouche containing what he
believed to spell Ptolemaios (Giblet 40). He misunderstood a few of the symbols meanings, and it
was later discovered that the Egyptian spelling was Ptolmis, but Young had taken the first major
steps into translating the hieroglyphics (Giblet 41).
The next step, and arguably the whole rest of the project, was

The Great Migration Essay
As the world moved throughout the time of 1890 1945, the United states experienced a myriad of
events that moved it closer to the founding ideals. However, the main ideal, which was supported
by plenty of actions, became evident to be opportunity . Some of the events that brought the United
States closer to the American ideals was the great migration, women in WWII, and African
Americans in WWII. Each of these happenings/positions opened doors to other people allowing
them to explore new possibilities, hence why they support the forward movement to the ideal of

Another historical example that began during the beginning of the second world war would be
the Double V Campaign, and the progress that came with it. This is a campaign in which black
leaders called for all citizens to fight against racism by seeking a double victory a victory for
democracy at home and abroad. Therefore, it encouraged thousands of African Americans to line
up to join the armed forces, with the draft of 1940. Originally, many services would not accept

Question #1: Let us assume that a full feature movie in MP4 format has a size of 2.4GB. How
long would it take to download such a movie over: a)a T1 connection b)a T3 connection c)a
cable modem with 2Mbps connection d)a telephone modem of 56Kbps Answer #1: Before
specifically talk about how long the 2.4GB will take to completely get downloaded, I would like
to talk about the difference between Byte (B) and bits (b) first. A bit is a single number or a

The Soviet Union Of Ukraine Essay
Author s Note: This paper and/or essay has been written perceptive from the past, considering how
things were perceived and accomplished in the early part of 2014 and into 2015. It does not take
into account anything that the current administration might have done or not done, to alter the
present outcome.
Intro/Background
Ukraine officially declared itself an independent state in 1991, with the collapse of the Soviet Union
, when the communist Supreme Soviet of Ukraine proclaimed that Ukraine would no longer
follow the laws of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and only the laws of the Ukrainian
Soviet Socialist Republics. [1] More than two decades later, the sovereign nation still has trouble
escaping Russia s threatening shadow. Ukraine s geographical position between Europe and Russia
has left the country divided culturally and politically. After many recent months of protests and
street demonstrations, the Ukrainian people were successful in ousting their incompetent and
corrupt president, Vicktor Yanukovych. Russian President Vladimir Putin however, was unwilling
to accept this and in February of 2014 Russian troops, aided by pro Russian local militia, occupied
important sites across the Crimean Peninsula under the pretext of protecting Russian people. Now
Crimea and possibly Eastern Ukraine is under Moscow s control and the Russian parliament has
voted to annex the region into the Russian Federation. [2] This is nothing new for Russia, as was

South Secession Causes
Secession Essay There are multiple causes for the South s secession from the U.S. Some of
theses causes include: popular sovereignty, need for slavery, and the Election of 1860. One
reason for the secession of the Southern states was the Election of 1860. The reason being that
the winner of this election was Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln was not only from the North,
but also supported all the North s ideas. He wanted to end slavery in the west, he supported the
free soilers in the North, and he liked the protective tariffs. The Southern states were enraged at
finding the abolitionist won the election, and actually said something along the lines of They will
never be at peace under the presidency of Abraham Lincoln . This sparking one motivation why
the South decided to secede from the U.S. The second reason for the secession of the Southern
states was popular sovereignty. The Utah and New Mexico territories were given the option of
popular sovereignty. Due to the location of their lands, farming would be more difficult in the
North than it would be down in the Southern states. This made farming, which was the main
demand for slaves, not as interesting to the people in the territories. Because of this, those
territories with popular sovereignty were uninterested with slavery and would choose to be free
states, which was not good for the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

regardless of the fact that the South practically need slavery to live. Therefore, without slavery
allowed (or soon to be), the Southerners would have a very hard time earning their money while
the North had no struggle. This being another reason for the South s soon secession from the

usually goes through a catharsis. The most common flaws of a tragic hero are hubris, pride, and
stubbornness. Tragic heroes can be found throughout most tragedy themed plays and they can help
the audience relate or feel for the character has they go through there ups and downs throughout
majority of the play. An example of play that has a definite tragic hero is the play Antigone by
Sophocles. Antigone and Creon are both the main characters in this play but only one is the true
tragic hero of this play. Creon perfectly fits majority of a tragic hero definition according to
Aristotle. Antigone barely meets a few of the aspects of a tragic hero, which is why tragic hero of
the play Antigone by Sophocles is Creon the King of Thebes.
Around the fifth century B.C. tragedies were a very new and popular form of playwriting
amongst the people of Ancient Greece. One of the first playwrights of Ancient Greece that
mastered the art of writing tragedies was the well know Sophocles. One of Sophocles famous plays
is called Oedipus the King which was the model for the guidelines used in the book Poetics which

Fifth Business Character Analysis
Fifth Business is the first book of Robertson Davies Deptford Trilogy. The novel is a memoir of
Dunstable Ramsay, the protagonist, in the form of a letter to the school s headmaster. Many
characters play a huge significant role in Dunstable s life as he develops, however, many of those
people are women. Leading examples of this are Fiona Ramsay, his mother; Mary Dempster, the
woman who changed his life; Diana Marfleet, his nurse and meaningful love; and Liselotte
Vitzliputzli, his source of therapy and inspiration. Dunstable s mother is someone who is a salient
part of his development, and shapes him into the person he is later on in the novel. She is

She is a source to the development of Dunstable for a couple of reasons. A link emerges between
Dunstable Ramsay and Mary when she is hit in the head with a snowball thrown by Percy Boyd
Staunton, which was intended for Dunstable. The snowball that hit Mary causes her to go into
labour, and she gives birth to her premature baby, Paul Dempster. Dunstable is forever filled with
guilt although he had no control whatsoever when the incident occurred. This guilt eventually
leads to Dunstable developing feelings for Mary Dempster, even though she is ten years older
than him. His loyalty for Mary Dempster is at the same degree as his mother, or perhaps more.
When Dunstable is at the Third Battle of Ypres, he loses his leg after he takes down German
snipers. While Dunstable lies down wounded, he sees Mary Dempster s face on the statue of
The Little Madonna. But what hit me worse than the blow of shrapnel was that the face was
Mrs. Dempster s face . (Davies, 74) Almost half a year after, he wakes up from a coma in a
hospital where he meets his nurse, Diana Marfleet. He recollects what happened during the war
and becomes a hagiographer. This is a significant facet of the person that he grows to be.

The Trial Of The Ku Klux Klan
The United States has a long, troubled history of slavery and racism within its culture. It is an
unfortunate part of our history that we continue to see to this day. The Argument of D. T.
Corbin in the Trial of the Ku Klux before the States Circuit Court is a closing argument to the
jury from David T. Corbin. Corbin was a very respected and qualified individual at this time. He
would go on to win the Senate election a few years after this document was created. The trial
was for the Ku Klux Klan and whether or not their beliefs and actions were legal. Corbin was
strongly against the klan and made sure people knew it. The events that took place in the trial of
the Ku Klux Klan, held in Columbia, South Carolina, happened in a tumultuous time period in
United States history. The hearing took place in November of 1871, which was six years after the
end of the Civil War. As many people know, the Civil War was fought largely due to the role of
slavery in the United States. The southern states, the Confederacy, were pro slavery, and the north,
the Union, was against it. Racismwas a major issue at the time. African Americans had little to no
rights before the war, and after the war Congress amended the constitution to give more rights to the
African Americans in this country to much disgust of the southern states. In this document Corbin
portrays the KKK in a negative manner by calling on witnesses who were a part of the klan, calls
witnesses who were victims, and brings up

Fall Of Communism Essay
v The fall of communism in Poland also inspired the fall of communism throughout Eastern Europe
in 1989, in a period sometimes referred to as the Autumn of Nations (a play on the Springtime of
Nations used to describe the 1848 revolutions). Lech Walesa stated in an interview that he and the
Poles lost many battles along the way, but [they] peacefully won the war (qtd. in Morris). A similar,
drawn out process to defeat communismoccurred in other Eastern Bloc countries around this time.
Pope John Paul II once said the following: Freedom is not just something to have and to use, it is
something to be fought for. One must use freedom to build with it personal life as well as the life
of the nation (qtd. in Walesa). Other nations in Eastern Europe followed this path, similar to Poland

Government Enforcement, Crime And The American Population...
On July 4, 1776, thirteen colonies declared independence from English rule, eventually forming the
United States of America ( American History, 2016). Built upon a unique platform of autonomy, the
United States provides citizens with freedoms not present in other countries. In order to preserve
such freedoms, the Constitution of the United States was enacted in 1797, outlining an array of
rights and privileges afforded to all citizens of the country ( American History, 2016). However, as
in any society, crime and abuse pervaded the peace of the nation, continuing to date. Methods of
public, social control span deep into the history of the United States, in an effort to combat
wrongful, illicit activity, or crime. With the first official police force established in 1838, law
enforcement has grown rapidly within the nation, employing millions (Bureau of Justice Statistics,
2015). Nevertheless, with the evolution of law enforcement, crime and the American population
have also evolved. In the present day United States, fear and unrest regarding personal rights and
freedoms are overwhelmingly prevalent, often creating controversy between the public and the
police. Under democratically inspired legal restraints, notably the Bill of Rights, the Fourth, Fifth,
Sixth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitutionensure the personal
rights and freedoms of American citizens against certain police related matters. The Fourth

The Passage Family Theme
A young girl wanders alone through the barren deserts of what used to be the United States. She
has forgotten how to talk in her isolation, through the decades of her solitary existence. She has
forgotten the man who saved her, an FBI agent who risked everything to be her father. All she
knows was that he was the one who truly cared about her. In the science fiction novel The Passage,
by Justin Cronin, the unique idea of familyis explored in depth. The author beautifully illustrates
how family can be found in the most unexpected places, even when everything you ve ever
known is falling down around you. One of the first times the idea of family is fully explored is in
an emotionally charged moment between Wolgast and Amy. Amy is in a coma after being injected
with the virus. Wolgast has bravely sat with her through day and night, with no protection from the
potential for a deadly virus. As he reaches total desperation, he tells Amy about his daughter Eva,

My Journey To Hong Kong Essay
Like many things, my journey to Hong Kong has a beginning, middle and end but, not in that
order. I would always assume that the beginning of my journey started the moment I stepped on
Cebu Pacific flight headed to my version of a divine abode. Even as I approached my destination,
I remained oblivious to the fact that what lay ahead of me consisted more than that of a theme park
and cold weather. In the end, I realized that there is more to a chilly city with Disneyland.
Inching my way towards the city lights, I left the Philippines for a new world half expecting 9
out of 8 civilians dressed like runway models and a really good theme park. I got all that and more
as I have seen a woman dressed like a supermodel casually strolling down the streets and a lesson I

charm of its east and west fusion will never elude me. Though the time I ve spent on earth has

Analysis Of Mrs. Se s By Lahiri
Encaged
In the story Mrs. Sen s , Lahiri presents the struggles of assimilating into a new country and
portrays how lonely and restricted immigrants can feel causing them to hold on to their past. She
is able to do this through her use of the character, Mrs. Sen, a woman who is originally from
India. Throughout the story we see how difficult it is for Mrs. Sen to assimilate to the lifestyle in
America. Her days, usually consist of staying in an apartment while her husband teaches at a
nearby university. Mrs. Sen s Indian lifestyle still seems very prominent, all her furniture is still
wrapped in plastic, the shoes are all lined in a bookcase by the front door, she refuses to purchase
fish from the supermarket and she uses an abnormal blade to do her cooking. All of this illustrating
how perhaps she is not ready to let go of her Indian lifestyle and assimilate. Mrs. Sen is
representative of the struggles of assimilation. The inevitability of feeling lonely and facing many
restrictions results in Mrs. Sen constantly grasping on to whatever part of India she has left.
Without even realizing this she prevents herself from assimilating. She always relies on Mr. Sen,
she barely knows anybody, she often misses her family and she cannot seem to make America feel
like home. Throughout the story we begin to notice how in America, Mrs. Sen is a somewhat
lonely person. This, however is not by choice. She does not know too many people other than her
husband, a man who calls

Fatalism In The Lady Finger
Joint family and close association between family members is the greatest characteristics of the
Pakistani society. Sdiqa s house was a big house. Many relatives visited this house and stayed
there. Particularly in case of some ceremony or distress, many relatives came to share such
occasions. Sadiqa s friendship with Imran came out an account of his characteristic. Thus the story,
The Lady Finger presents a true picture of our society in a very convincing manner.
The story, The Lady Finger, has the characteristics of both fatalism and feminism. But the fatalism
has been dealt with loudly. In other words, the story opens with romantic of an adopted girl and
proceeds along the growth of the girl. The story writer develops the story the story taking the norms
of society into account. Certainly, human beings around girl, though unconsciously, are taking the
girl. However, the greater cause of the girl s troubles is not human beings. It is her fate.

Who can Use the design
My design will help people of all ages. Any gender of people can use my product. As Well as fit
anyone with just a different shoe size. My product can work not only while walking , but as well
as running, jogging, and dancing. Basically, anything that has to do with having to wear shoes. All
types of people can use/ wear my product. For example, amateurs or professionals could use my
product,as well as disabled or even first time users!
Similar Ideas and designs
Similar products to mine are the waterproof rainboots. There s not an exact or any design that
will me close to my design. The only thing found were rain boots and they were all not as good
looking and modern shoes. They were mostly had simple colors like brown and had rubber o

were a specific type of shoes or design that were sort of identical to each other, and mine is a
different design. The size of my design or product is the size of any shoe. So, it can vary.
How and Why my design will work My design is going to work so when you accidently step on a
big, wet, puddle or spill a stainable drink onto your shoes, you won t have to go through the hassle
of trying to clean it off. Mostly for white or very clean shoes that are in light or bright vibrant colors.

Vehicular Ad Hoc Network Lab Report
The principle consists of initialising the minimum (Trmin) and maximum transmission (Trmax)
rate. Based on the IEEE802.11p, all mobiles involved in the Vehicular Ad hoc Network
(VANET) are synchronised and will switch from Service Channel (SCH) to Control Channel
(CCH) every sync period as depicted in Fig.1. A sync period is 100 ms which correspond to a
switching frequency of 10 Hz. Because CAMs/BSMs and DENMs are broadcasted and
exchanged during the CCH time interval, therefore, in the proposed algorithm, Trmax = 10 and
Trmin= 1. If all nodes are synchronized to transmit at specific period of time (CCH interval); if the
channel bandwidth is large enough, then each node will receive a message copy of its neighbours.

In our model, the choice of minimum CBR (CBRMin) is any value smaller than CBRMax while
the average CBR (CBRAv) is comprised between the minimum and the maximum. The
transmission delay (T0) is initialised at one second and the rate or frequency is initialised at 10
Hz. The algorithm begins at full rate when the CBR is less than CBRMin. When the CBR
becomes greater than the CBRMin and less than the CBRMax, the rate is adjusted as a function
of T0, О» and О±. When the CBR becomes greater than CBRMax, the rate is decreased by
increasing T0 until the CBRAv is achieved and T0 is equal to 1 or less. In general, the idea
consists of computing the differential CBR (О», О»1), the transmission delay T0 as well as the
coefficient О± to adjust the broadcasting delay as a function of a preset CBRMax. The IDBSMA
concept is build upon the DBSMA while taking into consideration the preset CBRMax. For
clarification, the flow diagram of the proposed algorithm is depicted in Fig.2. The proposed
IDBSMA algorithm was implemented in Matlab and several simulations performed to assess and
evaluate the effectiveness of the IDBSMA against the DBSMA. Although, the DBSMA
performance was already demonstrated against its peer in [8], some weaknesses in terms of
robustness were observed. Considering the likehood of car accident

Human Resource Frames
Change Analysis
Despite higher education institutions being a place of learning and reflection. The political and
symbolic frames captures most school s typical organizational life, which is steeped in structured
policies, roles and hierarchy; tradition, ceremonies and rituals (Bolman Deal, 2013). Due to these
complexities COCE deans do not prescribe to human resource frame relationships (Bolman Deal,
2013). Too often, Bolman and Deal (2013) assert organizations rely on a limited perspective in

Bolman and Deal (2013) as the factory or machine the element of organizations need to exist for

dictated from COCE leadership to its adjuncts. It is not the most appropriate framework for a

The human resource frame tends to be most challenging for COCE deans, as well as many other

God did not raise Jesus to life in the fleshly body in which he died. He gave Jesus a new spirit
body, as the angels in heaven have. This is also in direct contradiction with scripture. In Luke
24:39 (NIV) Jesus says, Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost
does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have. It is clear that Jesus was not a spirit, but was a
corporeal being. Their view on hell also comes with scriptural contradictions because they
believe that unbelievers (people not Jehovah s Witnesses) will be annihilated and there is no
hell. Jesus references hell in Matthew 5:30. Also 2 Corinthians 5:8 references being absent with
the body and present with the Lord. There is a separation from the body once we die, which is
something they do not believe. The 144,000 people is taken completely out of context. This is
actually 144,000 witnesses that will minister to the Jews of the world. There is no evidence that
this class of people will be the only ones that fulfill 2 Corinthians 5:8.
Lastly, their views over the present Kingdom Age and salvation by works are completely off base.
Their failed attempts to predict Armageddon should have been clear enough for them to not hold
the Kingdom Age belief. Instead, they believe that Jesus began his kingly reign in 1914 and that
we are in the 1000 reign of Christ. There has not been an Armageddon and

Many famous celebrities have changed completely going from innocent to out of control. We look

Learning about his touching background as a small Canadian boy who was discovered on
YouTube at the young age of 13 and seeing him grow up, it made me enjoy listening to him a lot
more. Once he got older, things took a huge turn. At the age of 17, he was caught with drugs,
underage drinking, and was associating himself with the wrong crowd. Surrounding himself in
this type of environment made him become more out of hand because no one was ever able
control him. Even though he had a strict mother, she was enabling him by making excuses for
his actions. Justin s dad was even worse. Instead of being a father figure, he took on the role as
being a friend to Justin. He encouraged his bad behavior by leading by example. It seemed like

more trouble than they already are in and will receive worse consequences in the end. I also think

The Simple The Better By Wranke Analysis
The Simple the Better In a place filled of talented people, Italy was the location in which
performance was vital in a rich or important person s life. Wranke s article explains how important
it was to have talent, in Italy, during the renaissance. The renaissance is known as the rebirth of

The way the story is written is meant to shock the reader when they realize what it means to win

uncomfortable Tessie truly is with the lottery. Tessie: (with forced pleasantness) Wouldn t have

Essay About Toda
FUNERAL
Todas believe in life after death and believe that the soul is immortal. They have a grand funeral
ceremony. They cremate the dead bodies. The todas believed that the buffalo s spirit would be a
companion to the dead person and the dead person could live as he lived on earth and therefore
used to sacrifice buffaloes. However, this cruel practice has been disregarded by the Government in
1964.
There are two types of funeral ceremonies which is the Green and Dry disposals of the dead. Green
disposal is done when an adult dies and after a few months is followed by dry disposal for a group
of dead people. For a man the rituals are done by his son or brother but for a woman it is done by
her husband.
The funeral pyre is lighted from a fire ignited by friction which is thought to be ... Show more

LANGUAGE AND ENTERTAINMENT
The Toda peoplehave their own language called the Toda languagewhich derives its roots from
Dravidian language and is similar to Tamil and Malayalam. This language does not have a script
and is very difficult to learn and speak. The Toda people only speak the language as they are not
able to pen it down on paper.
They are great poets and singers. During rituals they sing songs that are poetic. The only musical
instrument which they play is flute which is called as Pooheeri made up of bamboo. They live in
a society where everyone is equal and there is no differentiation based on castes.
EMBROIDERY
The Todas are specially known for their art skill which is their embroidery. What started out to be
a hobby passed down from generation to generation became their source of income and a beautiful
artwork loved by many. The Registrar of Geographical Indication gave GI(Geographical Indication)
status for this unique embroidery which prevents the art from being replicated and ensures that

Reconciliation Action Plan
Reconciliation Action Plan The goals and visions behind my reconciliation action plan was to
bring the two sides of Aboriginal and non Aboriginal Australians together in equality and harmony.
Since the colonisation of Australia there has been a vast divide between the two sides that has
caused many serious outcomes for Aboriginal people. My way of contributing to this is to create a
better understanding, restore trust and eradicate racism as a positive way to help close the gap
between Aboriginal and non Aboriginal Australias. The reason for this report was to explain the
steps that were taken to create and implement this action plan and the outcomes. My three actions

For my first event I took a friend to a movie night hosted by the Notre Dame Student Association
and students from the Aboriginal People unit. They organised a free viewing a movie by John
Pilger called Utopia and a follow up survey. This extraordinary film gives a deep insight into the
First Australians struggles of harsh dispossession and the ongoing deaths and poverty. Pilger
puts the hard word on many members of the Australian government who are responsible for
many deaths, explorations, betrayals and breaches to Aboriginal peoples human rights. This
film was very moving and had a great impact on myself who had already studied a lot of this
content but seeing it again in a different way opened my eyes even more to the sadness and grief
suffered by Aboriginal people due to discrimination and lack of justice. As for my friend she was
greatly saddened and shocked by what she has seen. Coming from a very English background she
expressed feeling somewhat guilty about what had happened and how disappointed she was in the
Australian government on this matter. The movie inspired a lengthy conversation about the
importance of righting past wrongs for Aboriginal people and spreading awareness to her family
and friends. It was also interesting to discover that when moving to Australian from England in
2010 that she had noticed a great deal of racism towards

Battle Of The Marne
The first battle of World War 1, better known as The Battle of the Marne, included many significant
battles. This is one battle in particular worth spotlighting when thinking about the United States
Army and its allies. The Battle of the Marne holds such importance to U.S. history and the world.
For the very first time in history, the use of radio intercepts and automotive transport of troops in
wartime commenced during this battle. The Battle of the Marne took place September 6, 1914
through September 12, 1914 some 30 miles from Paris. During this time, the offensive strategy by
the French Army and the British Expeditionary forces resembles what we do in modern day
warfare. The use of trench and flanking offensive strategies utilized... Show more content on

The stand at the Aisne River marks another historic landmark in World War 1. During the end of
the battle of the Marne, most German forces had regrouped in the Aisne River. This marked the
beginning of trench warfare. Both opposing forces began to use trenches on the Western front of
the Aisne River. On September 13, 1914, opposing forces began flanking maneuvers in which
today we call the Race to the Sea. During the Race to the Sea, the French failed to remove the
German stance north of the Aisne River. Several key factors caused the quick turnaround that
caused the German Armies to retreat. Primarily the German s underestimated French tactics.
They realized that once German s First Army was close to Paris, the French would give in and
retreat. While the French in fact were retreating, they were using rail systems to transport troops
back and forth. The German First Army found their advance hampered by broken bridges and
rails lines on their side of the French border. This caused shortage in food supplies and
ammunition to German Armies. This major issue also caused the breakdown in communication
within German s First and Second Armies causing huge gaps in their defensive line. This was
enough for French and British troops to come up with the plan to flank the gap the Germans had
created during their advancement into Paris. The First Battle of the Marne was a huge success
for the French and British Army at the cost of thousands of troops. This did not end the conflict,
but was more of a start of conflicts to come during World War 1. This key victory was able to push
German s back at least 40 to 50 miles from the capital city of

The Factor Model Developed By Costa And Mccrae
Along with defining the underlying factors of musical preference much research has explored
personality and has attempted to label different personality traits. Personality cannot be directly
observed and quantified because it is an abstract concept with several different definitions and
interpretations. For the purpose of this study, the five factor model developed by Costa and
McCrae (cite) will be used. Simply put, the five factor model (FFM) is an empirical generalization
about personality traits and how they are applied to people. The five major factors, labeled
Openness (O), Conscientiousness (C), Extraversion (E), Agreeableness (A), and Neuroticism(N)
have been extensively researched with diverse populations over the course of several decades
(McCrae Costa, 2008). Although the FFM is not considered a theory of personality, it implicitly
adopts the tenants of trait theory, in that it holds that individuals can be characterized in a relatively
stable pattern of thoughts, feelings, and actions (cite).
The first factor, Extraversion, implies an energetic approach toward the social and material world
and would includes traits such as sociability, assertiveness, and positive emotionality. Individuals
who are high in extraversion are more likely to approach others at social gatherings and introduce
themselves, or take lead in organizing group projects. Extraverts are also more likely to prefer to
live in larger cities where they are surrounded by others, and

Cold War Proxy War Essay
Due to how many countries in Africa were used in Cold War proxy wars, an important question is,
Which of the superpowers had a larger influence on Africa? And while the U.S.A. certainly did have
significant sway in Asia, mainly Korea and Vietnam, and in the Middle East in Afghanistan,
relatively, not much was spent, both financially and in a militaristic sense, in Africa. Similarly, the
U.S.S.R. was also spending the majority of their resources in Europeand Asia.
However, when examining where Cuba stood in Africa s proxy wars, one can see that a large
majority of communist and socialist factions in Africa were given aid by Cuba. Therefore, was
Cuba the most influential power in Africa during the Cold War? Or were the U.S.S.R and U.S.A....

MPLA troops became operatives and guerillas in Namibia, aiding in the eventual separation of
Namibia from South African control.
Additionally, in the Congo, Cuba gave support to anti capitalist and colonialist factions in the four
years Congo Civil War or Congo Crisis. During the period, Che Guevara travelled to the Congo as
a military advisor, and trained Congolese guerillas to fight against the ruling forces of Joseph
Mobutu.
Smaller expeditions were sent out by Cuba. In Ethiopia, Cuba followed the Soviet Union and other
communist powers in support of the Derg government in the Ogaden War between Somalia and
Ethiopia. One thousand five hundred Cuban troops were deployed to Israel in the Yom Kippur War
in support of Arab forces.
Importantly, much of the support Cuba sent to Africa during the Cold War was humanitarian aid.
Engineers were sent to build hospitals and schools, where Cuban teachers and doctors were sent.
Roughly thirty thousand African students travelled to Cuba to study at Cuban universities.
Therefore, Cuba became seen not only as a military benefactor in Africa, but also an altruistic
supporter of African

Mechanical Bowel Preparation Research
Mechanical bowel preparation (MBP) became the standard of care for elective colorectal surgery
once its association with decreased anastomotic dehiscence, surgical site infections (SSI)1, and
overall reduced morbidity and mortality emerged2. Originally, the guidelines and recommendations
for MBP were based on expert opinion and theory rather than randomized controlled trials (RCTs).3
When researchers began testing the theory in large randomized controlled studies, the results
challenged the benefits of MBP. A substantial amount of literature found the practice to either found
no effects, or found negative post operative effects.3 5 Although current research has casted doubt
on the efficacy of MBP, making its use controversial, most surgeons... Show more content on

Online Shopping Advantages
Advantages of Online Shopping
Shopping has changed a lot in the past few decades. Globalization has ensured we have more
choice available you can buy Indian food in Canada or sing Japanese tunes in the UK. But it s
not just that we are able to shop more goods, we also shop differently. Long gone are the days
when we walked into a store to pick our goods. Nowadays, we take our laptops or smartphones and
browse the internet, shopping for the things we want with a few clicks of a button.
But is shopping online just the new normal we have to accept? Could it actually be a beneficial
way of shopping? Let s consider the advantages of online shopping.
We have more variety
As mentioned, variety has increased in recent decades thanks to globalization. But the true enabler
is the internet. Brick and mortar stores would never be able to house so many foreign goods all
over the world the easiest way is to have an online store and to then utilize the fast global shipping
channels.
The variety of online stores is not confined with space you can have hundreds of products from the
same brand or from hundreds of different brands all under the same roof. If you want Asian skin
care products, then you can find them.
Variety isn t just about the availability of different brands, products or services. You can even
make more conscious decisions in terms of how you shop. If you want to find organic food or
makeup, the Internet has made it easy for you to do so. Even if you don t want

The other two pieces that were performed, Handel s Ariodante and Ginastera s Concerto for Harp
and Orchestra, Op. 25, made the concert interesting for the range of genres covered. As a well
known opera composer, Handel composed the overture for Ariodante, which is an opera in three
acts. Alberto Ginastera s harp concerto was finished in 1964 and is in three movements (Yadzinsky
14 17).
In the second concert, Debussy s PrГ©lude Г l aprГЁs midi d un faune, Prokofiev s Piano
Concerto No. 3 in C Major, Op. 26, and Stravinsky s The Firebird were performed. The French
composer Claude Debussy wrote the symphonic poem in 1892 and based it on StГ©phane
MallarmГ© s poem, L aprГЁs midi d un Faune. In 1917, Sergei Prokofiev composed the Piano
Concerto No.3 in Brittany, France, drawing on the ideas that he obtained over a decade (Laki 7).
As one of many Russian composers who were faced with the October Revolution of 1917,
Prokofiev may have foreseen more freedom and success in the West and the United States and left
Russia; Prokofiev premier the concerto in Chicago, and it became his most famous piano concerto
(Redepenning). A notable aspect of the piece is the musical humor that Prokofiev presents in the
concerto, in which lyrical phrases are accompanied by moments of dissonance, all while

The Australian Government Essay
When you think of the land down under you don t really think of the kind of government they have.
I chose to write about the Australian government because I really don t hear much about Australia.
It currently has a pretty interesting story to tell when it comes to their government. I became a bit
interested in Australian politics when I saw a political animated cartoon on the internet that
depicted Kevin Rudd, the last Prime Minister, on a news television show and it was quite
humorous. I am going to give a quick history lesson on Australiathen go into how the government

Penal colonies are places when some send their inmates to be exiled. It was said that about 160,000
people were brought into Australia. Many Europeans decided to immigrate to Australia and because
of this and after a while the economy and colonies of Australia, under the British rule, started to
grow (Austrailian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade).
Now I shall talk about how the Australian Constitution. It s common knowledge to know that a
constitution is pretty much the law of the land and a foundation of the laws that rule there.
Constitutions are very important for countries to have. Helen Irving explains in The Oxford
Companion of Australian Politics that, Its Preamble records the agreement of the six Australian
colonies to federate in 1901 and to remain together as one indissoluble federal Commonwealth .
The Australian Constitution was written as a bill when the colonies met in 1890. The constitution
has a full draft by the end of 1891 but colonial parliaments failed to pass it (Irving).
It took about 10 years in 1901 that the constitution was finally ratified. They were finally an
independent nation and no longer under the

1943 Personal Narrative
Times like the year 1943, were never talked about in my family. 1943 was 60 years before I was

why? Nobody in the family even knew why. Well, except my great grandfather, Joseph G. Koch.
He lived it. Saw it. Smelled it. The odor of burned flesh was strong, he said. 2008 was the year
when everything changed in the family. The code was cracked. The silence was broken. The secret
was out. That was the year my twit headed uncle put himself to good use, and asked my Great
Grandfather about the importance of 1943 and what it meant to him. This was the first time
anything was talked about. The hushes and whispers finally dissipated. Grandpa was... Show more

He never forgot the sights, sounds and smells of the hospital during that time. Those dates were
the dates of the infamous Battle of the Bulge! During that particular battle many of the soldiers
were wounded and killed while in tanks. Whenever an tank was bombed, the soldiers inside were
literally cooked alive. The tanks being completely metal, transferred the heat of the bombs to the

During this time, as wounded and deceased soldiers arrived at the hospital in England, Joe was
forever affected by what he saw, smelled, and heard. The deceased were charred lumps. The smell
of burned flesh filled the nostrils of the medical staff. The painful wailing of the injured, suffering
from horrific burns, was heart wrenching. Joe had never seen such devastation and destruction

As Joe talked about working in the hospital, he never took his eyes off of his grandson, who was

Samuel Beckett s Molloy is divided into two parts. The first part begins with the narrator, Molloy,
who is being driven to write for an unknown reason and by an unknown person. At the end of the
first paragraph, Molloy says: Here is my beginning (Beckett 8). Molloy s account of what happens
isn t organized as a narrative; in a way; Molloyis Beckett s portrait of what would happen if
someone who didn t tell stories was compelled to tell one. He begins not even with the pseudo

he tells of the pleasures of being on his bicycle, which he says he will not call a bike. It is after

It wasn t until I listened to the audiobook while driving. I don t know what it is, but I think being

what the story was about. My opinion of the novel as a work of imaginative literature would be that
Molloy can be interpreted in many ways; some may have interpreted Molloy in a completely
different way than I did. Personally, I found the novel to have many depressing and unfortunate
events, but someone else may have thought of these events differently. Molloy is definitely one
of those novels that can have different meaning depending on who s reading it. I remember

Pi dispels the belief that animals in the wild are more free . He refutes that statement by
explaining animals in the wild do not have glamorous lives, but instead they feel starvation and
have to forage for food every night. Also, he mentions that most animals are habitual creatures.
For example, many things that are out of the ordinary will upset an animal, such as a hose in an
unusual place or a puddle. Finally, he states that, above all else, animals are territorial. An animal
in a zoo is no worse off than an animal in the wild because an animal in a zoo has a routine and
unchallenged territory. He then explains zoomorphism, which is the phenomenon of an animal
accepting a different type of animal or a human as one of their own kind. There are many
examples of this, such as dogs accepting humans as one of their kind. Pi also mentions some
occurrences of zoomorphism from his father s zoo. The rhinoceros in the zoo gets along with the
goats in his cage, a single mouse was kept alive by a snake until a new viper bit it, causing the
adults to devour

What Is The Difference Between Andy Fish And Rumble Fish
While Andy Jackson from Tears of a Tiger sand Rusty James from Rumble Fish both seem lonely,
they differ because Andy is pessimistic while Rusty James is dependent. In both books, the
characters lose people they feel close to. However, Andy proves himself to be independent multiple
times throughout the book. Rusty James relies on people helping him get out of trouble.
Characterization plays an important role in the reader s understanding of characterdevelopment.
Readers of both Tears of a Tiger and Rumble Fish find both Rusty James and Andy Jackson
lonely. In the book Tears of a Tiger, it stated But I get to Robbie, I couldn t get to him. This

Somebody pulled me up, and I was half sitting and half leaning against him. He ain t dead It was

If he wasn t so dependent on Motorcycle Boy than Steve wouldn t have had a best friend

  • 3. Mortal Man Poem Long ago there was a mortal man in love with the daughter of a water god; however, the water god did not approve of the mortal man. He was angry with the mortal for wishing to take his daughter and marry her. To keep the mortal man and his daughter apart, the god created a long, tall hill that stretched from horizon to horizon.. There were no dips, and it was impossible to climb. It seemed hopeless, but the mortal man was clever. He would stop at nothing to reach his love, so he started to dig. The man dug and dug, creating long tunnels through the hill. There were many tunnels because the man would reach a place he could no longer dig, and the wide expanse of hill was confusing. Soon, dirt and rock piled up around the hill, creating slopes. It took years to finally dig through the hill to the other side. One he was through, the mortal man almost fell and started crying. There was no water. His love could not survive here. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She cried for days and days, flooding the earth around the hill. To make concentrate for diet CSDs, concentrate makers often added artificial sweetener; with regular CSDs, bottlers added sugar or high fructose corn syrup themselves. The concentrate manufacturing process involved relatively little capital investment in machinery, overhead, or labor. A typical concentrate manufacturing plant, which could cover a geographic area as large as the United States, cost between $50 million to $100 million to build.8 A concentrate producer s most significant costs were for advertising, promotion, market research, and bottler support. Using innovative and sophisticated campaigns, they invested heavily in their trademarks over time. While concentrate producers implemented and financed marketing programs jointly with bottlers, they usually took the lead in developing those programs, particularly when it came to product development, market research, and advertising. They also took charge of negotiating customer development agreements (CDAs) with nationwide retailers such as Wal Mart. • 5. ANZAC Legend Assignment History Term 4: ANZAC Research Assignment Australia participated in of one of the greatest global wars in history, World War 1, as a part of the Allied Forces. This war was also believed to be, at the time, the war to end all wars. It started on the 28th of July 1914 and was triggered by the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, the Archduke of Austria. On the 25th of April 1915, the British Empire sent the Australian and New Zealand Army Corp to Gallipoli in an invasion where the young soldiers were essentially led on a suicide mission. They were outnumbered. The campaign ended in a gruesome and horrific massacre of the ANZAC troops. The battle between Australia and Turkey on the Gallipoli Campaign during World War 1 is often glorified in the recognition of the ANZAC s excessive qualities such as courage and endurance; which is now known as the ANZAC Legend. However, it is undeniable that the reality of how the ANZAC legend was altered through propaganda, exaggeration and misunderstanding to portray a successful campaign. The fact that the ANZAC Legend was highly exaggerated is not often debated for the purpose of attempting to convince citizens that the deaths of the soldiers who fought in the Gallipoli Campaign were not in vain. we need to scrape off the barnacles and make sure the commemorations are actually about the soldiers and the tragedy of what they endured (Payne, 2015). Many of the legendary actions taken by ANZAC soldiers have been overstated so that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Examples Of Sigmund Freud Thou Shalt Love Thy Neighbor As... Sigmund Freud responds to the commandment, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself by recognizing the culture of personal ego and human aggression shown during the laws of society that protect the love of objects (Freud 232). Sigmund Freud stated that the only reason that people support laws is that it enable them to keep the objects of their lives close to them, builds new love relationships, and protects friendships with other people in the community. Some people follow this commandment because it focuses on the want to create new love relationships with others. People do not support laws that will cause anxiety and chaos to their family, communities and themselves. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself is a language of sublimation symbolizing human wish have a loving relationship with others. Freud believes that sublimation has been just a function of one s ego that makes them want, love it: it is not a conscious thought. People will abide by laws that show thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself because they have an unconscious want to do so since they want to be loved and want their loving relationships protected and be supported by their neighbors. Freud referred to the Hobbes argument that humans are naturally hostile to one another, humans depend on their own man made devices and hostile nature, leading humanity into a war where a man will be against each other (Hobbes 1906, 96). Human civilization is an effort to set up limitations for man s aggressive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Themes in Raymond Carver s Literature Essay Themes in Raymond Carver s Literature In Short Cuts, by Raymond Carver, characters experience trials and problems in their lives, whether extreme such as in A Small, Good Thing and Lemonade or nominal such as in Vitamins . They all seem to depict these struggles as uphill battles which the characters cannot and mostly do not overcome. The characters throughout Carver s Short Cuts struggle through their lives in private desperation, often to ultimately realize that they are bound to the truth of who they really are, which is shown in the story Neighbors. In Neighbors , Bill and Arlene Miller are a couple with menial jobs who give credence to the saying the grass is greener on the other side of the fence . They are ... The Miller are asked to house sit for their neighbors. It is ultimately realized at the end that they are both doing more than feeding the cat when they go into the apartment. The Miller s searching through their neighbor s apartment is symbolic of their search for meaning in their own lives. Because they are not satisfied with the way they live, they project the Stones life onto their own, to the extent of pretending to live in their apartment, if only for one moment. Bill s fantasy of being like the Stone s may be shown by his actions of taking a bottle of Harriet s pills (14), and drinking and eating their food, with no qualms of invade his neighbors privacy (16). On page 15, Bill had the feeling that he left something as he was closing the door to the Stone s apartment. Animal Welfare ( Dairy Cattle ) Code Of Welfare Essay Animal Welfare (Dairy Cattle) Code of Welfare 2014 Overview This code gives animal owner and the person in charge of the animals guidelines of minimum standard of care and management taken when caring for dairy cows in New Zealand. The code of welfare for dairy cows would be especially important as the dairy industry is becoming increasingly important in New Zealand, the high demand in dairy product would mean more farmers would have to provide adequate care and welfare for the ever increasing dairy cows produced. This code gives the owner or the person in charge of the animals a list of 6 minimum standards to follow whilst managing dairy cows, the minimum standards listed includes the stockmanship, the physical environment, health, and husbandry practices. The owner or person in charge of the cattle must follow the minimum requirements, the failure to comply to the minimum standards may be used as evidence to prosecute under the Animal Welfare Act (1999). Positive Attributes The code of welfare for dairy cows at part 4.4 states that cow and calves must be able to lie down and rest for a sufficient amount of time per day to meet their behavioural needs (Placeholder1). This is proven to an important aspect while managing dairy cows as providing an open paddock for the cows to lie down and rest would increase the cows well being and comfort as well as increasing production (D. • 11. Songs That Have Stood the Test of Time and Geography Part 1 Background and Identification There are quite a number of songs that have stood the test of time and geography to remain as vital and popular today as they were when first composed. Perhaps it is because some of these songs simply transcend time and place and appeal to the core of human emotion. Who cannot feel a thrill of excitement and humanity at the finale of Beethoven s 9th Symphony, or shed a tear at a favorite Christmas carol? One song that fits this transcendence is La Vie En Rose, literally, Life in Pink. This was first made popular in 1946 by French torch singer Edith Piaf. Translated from the French idiom, the piece means seeing life through rose colored glasses, rather perfect for Piaff s life and vocal talent, and even more perfect for a world turned upside down because of World War II. At first, Piaf s colleagues and team did not think the song would be at all successful, yet it became a favorite with audiences around the world, and Piaf s signature song (Bret, 2009). The song quickly became so popular it was translated into several languages, and then the greatest compliment of all imitated by singers in many different genres. Ironic since the words were almost hastily scribbled on a cocktail napkin while Piaf was drinking with her friend Marianne Michel at a cafГѓ on the Champs Elysees (Burke, 2011, p. 118). Also, besides over 50 artists interpreting and recording the work, it was recently made into a stage play and surprisingly successful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Creativity And The Mad Genius Creativity and the Mad Genius On July 2, 1961, Ernest Hemingway put a gun to his head. Seventy one years earlier, on July 29, 1890, Vincent van Gogh shot himself in the abdomen while painting a wheat field. Robin Williams hung himself on August 24, 2014, less than two centuries after Vincent van Gogh. Along with Ludwig von Beethoven, who died of natural causes in 1827, four of the greatest creative minds each suffered from bipolar disorder, depression, or epilepsy, usually suffering from other physical ailments as well. Ernest Hemingway was the only one to seem to have a genetic disposition towards mental illness. None of these men led similar lives. Van Gogh only saw one of his paintings sold, while Beethoven was an acclaimed composer by the age of twenty nine. Hemingway was friends with some of the greatest literary minds of the day, and Robin Williams was one of the most successful comedians to date. The common link, besides their mental illnesses, is the idea that each of these men were searching for something more within their respective arts. Four fields of fine arts that require the constant creation of something new claimed the lives of four men who gave it all they had, some losing, and some finding themselves along the way. Over the past sixty years, facts about depression and the reality of it have come to light; however, there are still negative stigmas concerning the mental illness and how people ought to endure through the pain. The Effect Of Hieroglyphics On The Rosetta Stone Arguably one of the most important discoveries made regarding the historical and cultural study of ancient Egypt is the translation of the writing form known as hieroglyphics. This language, lost for thousands of years, formed a tantalizing challenge to a young Jean FranГ§ois who committed his life to its translation. Scholars such as Sylvestre de Sacy had attempted to translate the Rosetta Stone before Champollion, but after painstaking and unfruitful work, they abandoned it (Giblin 32). Champollion s breakthrough with hieroglyphics on the Rosetta Stone opened up new possibilities to study and understand ancient Egyptlike never before, and modern Egyptology was born. Although he was able to find them, he was not able to decipher an alphabetical system that applied to the rest of the text. It seemed that the other symbols represented things, not letters. A few others continued after him with the same idea of a solely alphabetical system, but they all came to the same dead end and were not able to make any progress. One of the first scholars to make any real headway on the translation was Thomas Young, a British polymath (Silet 1). Being a polymath and not understanding any of the language to begin with, Young meticulously inspected the stone, looking for recurring patterns and recording the number of times each symbol was repeated (Meyerson 123). Young knew that Ptolemys were Greek, so he assumed that the name Ptolemaios, spelled in the Greek style, would appear spelled the same way in the hieroglyphic section. Indeed he did find several times the cartouche containing what he believed to spell Ptolemaios (Giblet 40). He misunderstood a few of the symbols meanings, and it was later discovered that the Egyptian spelling was Ptolmis, but Young had taken the first major steps into translating the hieroglyphics (Giblet 41). Intro/Background Ukraine officially declared itself an independent state in 1991, with the collapse of the Soviet Union , when the communist Supreme Soviet of Ukraine proclaimed that Ukraine would no longer follow the laws of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and only the laws of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republics. Ukraine s geographical position between Europe and Russia has left the country divided culturally and politically. After many recent months of protests and street demonstrations, the Ukrainian people were successful in ousting their incompetent and corrupt president, Vicktor Yanukovych. Russian President Vladimir Putin however, was unwilling to accept this and in February of 2014 Russian troops, aided by pro Russian local militia, occupied important sites across the Crimean Peninsula under the pretext of protecting Russian people. One reason for the secession of the Southern states was the Election of 1860. The reason being that the winner of this election was Abraham Lincoln. This sparking one motivation why the South decided to secede from the U.S. The second reason for the secession of the Southern states was popular sovereignty. The Utah and New Mexico territories were given the option of popular sovereignty. Due to the location of their lands, farming would be more difficult in the North than it would be down in the Southern states. Based on the IEEE802.11p, all mobiles involved in the Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) are synchronised and will switch from Service Channel (SCH) to Control Channel (CCH) every sync period as depicted in Fig.1. A sync period is 100 ms which correspond to a switching frequency of 10 Hz. Because CAMs/BSMs and DENMs are broadcasted and exchanged during the CCH time interval, therefore, in the proposed algorithm, Trmax = 10 and Trmin= 1. If all nodes are synchronized to transmit at specific period of time (CCH interval); if the channel bandwidth is large enough, then each node will receive a message copy of its neighbours. This is the main... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In our model, the choice of minimum CBR (CBRMin) is any value smaller than CBRMax while the average CBR (CBRAv) is comprised between the minimum and the maximum. The transmission delay (T0) is initialised at one second and the rate or frequency is initialised at 10 Hz. The algorithm begins at full rate when the CBR is less than CBRMin. When the CBR becomes greater than the CBRMin and less than the CBRMax, the rate is adjusted as a function of T0, О» and О±. When the CBR becomes greater than CBRMax, the rate is decreased by increasing T0 until the CBRAv is achieved and T0 is equal to 1 or less. In general, the idea consists of computing the differential CBR (О», О»1), the transmission delay T0 as well as the coefficient О± to adjust the broadcasting delay as a function of a preset CBRMax. The IDBSMA concept is build upon the DBSMA while taking into consideration the preset CBRMax. For clarification, the flow diagram of the proposed algorithm is depicted in Fig.2. The proposed IDBSMA algorithm was implemented in Matlab and several simulations performed to assess and evaluate the effectiveness of the IDBSMA against the DBSMA. God did not raise Jesus to life in the fleshly body in which he died. He gave Jesus a new spirit body, as the angels in heaven have. This is also in direct contradiction with scripture. In Luke 24:39 (NIV) Jesus says, Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have. It is clear that Jesus was not a spirit, but was a corporeal being. Their view on hell also comes with scriptural contradictions because they believe that unbelievers (people not Jehovah s Witnesses) will be annihilated and there is no hell. Jesus references hell in Matthew 5:30. Also 2 Corinthians 5:8 references being absent with the body and present with the Lord. There is a separation from the body once we die, which is something they do not believe. The 144,000 people is taken completely out of context. This is actually 144,000 witnesses that will minister to the Jews of the world. There is no evidence that this class of people will be the only ones that fulfill 2 Corinthians 5:8. Lastly, their views over the present Kingdom Age and salvation by works are completely off base. Their failed attempts to predict Armageddon should have been clear enough for them to not hold the Kingdom Age belief. Instead, they believe that Jesus began his kingly reign in 1914 and that we are in the 1000 reign of Christ. There has not been an Armageddon and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Simple The Better By Wranke Analysis The Simple the Better In a place filled of talented people, Italy was the location in which performance was vital in a rich or important person s life. Wranke s article explains how important it was to have talent, in Italy, during the renaissance. The renaissance is known as the rebirth of painting, sculpting, and almost everything we could possibly think off. During the renaissance, most artist had a common enemy known as the court, which was ruled by the most wealthy and powerful families in Italy. The court was in charge of one s position in society. During the end of the battle of the Marne, most German forces had regrouped in the Aisne River. This marked the beginning of trench warfare. Both opposing forces began to use trenches on the Western front of the Aisne River. On September 13, 1914, opposing forces began flanking maneuvers in which today we call the Race to the Sea. During the Race to the Sea, the French failed to remove the German stance north of the Aisne River. Several key factors caused the quick turnaround that caused the German Armies to retreat. Primarily the German s underestimated French tactics. They realized that once German s First Army was close to Paris, the French would give in and retreat. While the French in fact were retreating, they were using rail systems to transport troops back and forth. The German First Army found their advance hampered by broken bridges and rails lines on their side of the French border. This caused shortage in food supplies and ammunition to German Armies. This major issue also caused the breakdown in communication within German s First and Second Armies causing huge gaps in their defensive line. This was enough for French and British troops to come up with the plan to flank the gap the Germans had created during their advancement into Paris. The First Battle of the Marne was a huge success for the French and British Army at the cost of thousands of troops. The Factor Model Developed By Costa And Mccrae Along with defining the underlying factors of musical preference much research has explored personality and has attempted to label different personality traits. Personality cannot be directly observed and quantified because it is an abstract concept with several different definitions and interpretations. For the purpose of this study, the five factor model developed by Costa and McCrae (cite) will be used. Simply put, the five factor model (FFM) is an empirical generalization about personality traits and how they are applied to people. The five major factors, labeled Openness (O), Conscientiousness (C), Extraversion (E), Agreeableness (A), and Neuroticism(N) have been extensively researched with diverse populations over the course of several decades (McCrae Costa, 2008). Although the FFM is not considered a theory of personality, it implicitly adopts the tenants of trait theory, in that it holds that individuals can be characterized in a relatively stable pattern of thoughts, feelings, and actions (cite). The first factor, Extraversion, implies an energetic approach toward the social and material world and would includes traits such as sociability, assertiveness, and positive emotionality. Individuals who are high in extraversion are more likely to approach others at social gatherings and introduce themselves, or take lead in organizing group projects. Now I shall talk about how the Australian Constitution. It s common knowledge to know that a constitution is pretty much the law of the land and a foundation of the laws that rule there. Constitutions are very important for countries to have. Helen Irving explains in The Oxford Companion of Australian Politics that, Its Preamble records the agreement of the six Australian colonies to federate in 1901 and to remain together as one indissoluble federal Commonwealth . The Australian Constitution was written as a bill when the colonies met in 1890. The constitution has a full draft by the end of 1891 but colonial parliaments failed to pass it (Irving). It took about 10 years in 1901 that the constitution was finally ratified. They were finally an independent nation and no longer under the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. 1943 Personal Narrative Times like the year 1943, were never talked about in my family. 1943 was 60 years before I was born, yet if you bring up that time, you would be hushed by your mother and told to be quiet. But why? Nobody in the family even knew why. Well, except my great grandfather, Joseph G. Koch. He lived it. Saw it. Smelled it. The odor of burned flesh was strong, he said. 2008 was the year when everything changed in the family. The code was cracked. The silence was broken. The secret was out. That was the year my twit headed uncle put himself to good use, and asked my Great Grandfather about the importance of 1943 and what it meant to him. This was the first time anything was talked about. The hushes and whispers finally dissipated. Grandpa was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He never forgot the sights, sounds and smells of the hospital during that time. Those dates were the dates of the infamous Battle of the Bulge! During that particular battle many of the soldiers were wounded and killed while in tanks. Whenever an tank was bombed, the soldiers inside were literally cooked alive. The tanks being completely metal, transferred the heat of the bombs to the vulnerable soldiers. The loss of lives was devastating! The injuries were horrific. During this time, as wounded and deceased soldiers arrived at the hospital in England, Joe was forever affected by what he saw, smelled, and heard. The deceased were charred lumps. The smell of burned flesh filled the nostrils of the medical staff. The painful wailing of the injured, suffering from horrific burns, was heart wrenching. Joe had never seen such devastation and destruction before. As Joe talked about working in the hospital, he never took his eyes off of his grandson, who was asking the questions, and pleading for the answers. His voice was always firm and steady, until he spoke about the victims of the Battle of the Bulge. Then Joe s eyes teared up, and his steady voice began to waver. Just talking to Joe, you could almost hear, see and smell what he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Molloy Response Essay Samuel Beckett s Molloy is divided into two parts. The first part begins with the narrator, Molloy, who is being driven to write for an unknown reason and by an unknown person. At the end of the first paragraph, Molloy says: Here is my beginning (Beckett 8). Molloy s account of what happens isn t organized as a narrative; in a way; Molloyis Beckett s portrait of what would happen if someone who didn t tell stories was compelled to tell one. He begins not even with the pseudo quest of going to see his mother but with some observations of two people, A and C. From there, he tells of the pleasures of being on his bicycle, which he says he will not call a bike. It is after these accounts that he reveals a fraught relationship with his mother;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It wasn t until I listened to the audiobook while driving. I don t know what it is, but I think being so concentrated on driving and listening to the story at the same time really helped me focus on what the story was about. My opinion of the novel as a work of imaginative literature would be that Molloy can be interpreted in many ways; some may have interpreted Molloy in a completely different way than I did. Personally, I found the novel to have many depressing and unfortunate events, but someone else may have thought of these events differently. Molloy is definitely one of those novels that can have different meaning depending on who s reading it. I remember listening to the novel while my boyfriend was asleep thinking to myself Oh man what in the world is going on in this story? and once I put the recording on pause my boyfriend woke up and asked me why did I turn it off because he was actually enjoying the novel in his sleep. I thought that was quite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pi dispels the belief that animals in the wild are more free . He refutes that statement by explaining animals in the wild do not have glamorous lives, but instead they feel starvation and have to forage for food every night. Also, he mentions that most animals are habitual creatures. For example, many things that are out of the ordinary will upset an animal, such as a hose in an unusual place or a puddle. Finally, he states that, above all else, animals are territorial. An animal in a zoo is no worse off than an animal in the wild because an animal in a zoo has a routine and unchallenged territory. He then explains zoomorphism, which is the phenomenon of an animal accepting a different type of animal or a human as one of their own kind. There are many examples of this, such as dogs accepting humans as one of their kind. Pi also mentions some occurrences of zoomorphism from his father s zoo. The rhinoceros in the zoo gets along with the goats in his cage, a single mouse was kept alive by a snake until a new viper bit it, causing the adults to devour ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the book, it states Motorcycle Boy stepped out, grabbed Biff s wrist and snapped it backward. Another example from the book is, Somebody pulled me up, and I was half sitting and half leaning against him. He ain t dead It was the Motorcycle Boy This demonstrates that Rusty James is dependent because when he almost died, Motorcycle Boy was the one who finished off the people go jumped steve and Rusty James. If he wasn t so dependent on Motorcycle Boy than Steve wouldn t have had a best friend anymore. Furthermore, In the book, it states The next thing I knew I was thrown up against the police car and frisked.
