The Core Capabilities Of Icf
2.2. Architecture Overview
ICF is a multi tiered, service based framework that integrates broad range of technologies covering
the autonomy of a machine to analytical services that are combined with domain specific user
interfaces to form specific battlefield applications [] . This framework can be adapted to other battle
command and robotic control systems to enhance human performance, and can communicate with
underlying control and simulation systems via standard protocols. Underlying ICF provides a
generalized framework that integrates various requisite knowledge bases, knowledge
representations, the applications, machines, to represent a collaborative technology that offers
different forms of user assistance in a holistic manner.
Figure 2: Intelligence and control abstraction layers for ICF
The core capabilities of ICF are designed around three main modules corresponding to the three
tiers, AMM, PES and UI, of human machine collaboration. The adjustable autonomy module
(AAM) contains the reasoning necessary for modeling the human plans and intentions, situation
reasoning, and determining new automation settings. This module covers most of the reasoning
requirements labeled (2a c) in the previous section.
The planning and execution system (PES) contains an abstraction layer for controlling automated
processes, as well as providing the rest of the system access to information generated by the
automated processes, such as sensor readings and asset status

Factory Farming Essay
Poultry is by far the number one meat consumed in America; it is versatile, relatively inexpensive
compared to other meats, and most importantly it can be found in every grocery store through out
the United States. All of those factors are made possible because of factory farming. Factory
farming is the reason why consumers are able to purchase low priced poultry in their local
supermarket and also the reason why chickens and other animals are being seen as profit rather
than living, breathing beings. So what is exactly is factory farming? According to Ben Macintyre, a
writer and columnist of The Times, a British newspaper and a former chicken farm worker, he

Death Of A Leader In Walt Whitman s O Captain My Captain
Many Leaders lack the ability to move people. Mourning the death of a leader is an even bigger
task to take on. Abraham Lincoln, in this case was an exception. In the famous poem, O Captain!
My Captain! Written by, Walt Whitman in the year 1865. The poem, refers to a terrible event in
American history; the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. Instead of the country
celebrating and rejoicing over the ending of the Civil War and being happy over the country
being kept whole, everyone was mourning in the loss of their leader. Aboard a ship, the poem is
about a fellow sailor grieving from the loss of his captain. The sailor in the poem is singing a
song that praises his captain for leading them safely on their voyage and leading them back
home. As the other sailors are celebrating their homecoming with everyone on shore, the sailor
notices the captain. He is dead, lying on the deck of the ship fallen cold and dead (line 8). The
sailor goes on and mournfully walks on the deck where the captain had died while the people on
shore are unaware of their fallen leader. Rise up and hear the bells; (Line 9). The sailor says
wishing his captain could witness the excitement. Everyone adored the captain and admitted that
his death feels like a terrible dream, It is some dream that on the deck, you ve fallen cold and dead.
(Lines 15 16). Then in the final stanza of the poem, the sailor puts together his feelings of mourning
and pride. (Whitman)

Slang Rehearsal
Out with the old in with the new , Today s generation slang continuously changes depending on a
new trend. I feel as if some words and phrases are praised for the wrong reaosn. In 2015 some
words should be retired because they are degrading, outdated, and highly unpleasant. The new
slang the twenty first century uses today are very degrading and highly disrespectful. The slang
people uses today are used to bring people down. For instances, thot , tricking , or contraire used to

Such an unusual time, this minute of sleeping. It s around noon, half past eleven, and the room was
so quiet that if you were to listen close you could hear little ants running across to reach the crumbs
that had scattered beneath the counter and onto the floor. The walls are quiet, too, with nothing to

Analyzing Climate Change
Climate change has become one of the most important issues on the global political agenda. This is
largely due to the fact that the developments that influence climate change also impact the way in
which life is conducted at local, regional, national, and global level.
The present paper aims to analyze climate change from a general perspective with due consideration
for aspects that eventually define climate change as an essential challenge as well as for humanity
in its entirety and for the individual as a single element of society.
The first part of the research provides background information on what climate change is, what are
its most important constituent elements, and what are its implications. Climate change represents
in essence a global challenge that can only be tackled at the global level. This is why it is
important to consider the views and perspectives of global organizations such as the United
Nations, through the United Nations Environment Program among other organisms under the
coordination of the United Nations. Climate change has been at the center of vivid debates in
recent decades particularly because it affects all strata of human life, from food supplies to
education, health, and sustainable development. Its complex impact on human life makes climate
change an all the more important aspect to be taken into account by policy makers, world leaders,
and decision takers around the world.
The second part of the research focuses on the initiatives

Essay 1 Elephant
Essay: Elephant by Polly Clark, 2006 A To choose your own future, destiny and life is very hard.
Everyone wants to do something that makes them happy. But sometimes you take the wrong
decisions or everything decides to go against you, which makes you stay in the box you were
trying to escape from. When your dreams don t get fulfilled, you will be in that box and wait for
the light. It s not always about what you want, but what you need. And to live a good life, and to
do something productive, you have to work in a way that will make you happy, because that is
what you need the most. Elephant is a short story written by Polly Clark in 2006. My focus point

little, after his wife tells him that she will be home in twenty minutes, he gets a flashback to a
time where he was waiting for his mom in the same amount of time. And that s when he got the
blue elephant5. The elephant can symbolize freedom, peace and happiness, which he is looking
for. It was a gift from his mother, and she had been gone for a long while, so when she came
back it brought joy and hope in him. Therefore the elephant is meaningful and also the light in
his dark working room. William gets a switch between getting hope and losing it, as when he
was talking with his wife Ginny, about moving to Australia, he just says Let s see what happens
as if it doesn t interest him.6 He is not pleased with the way his life is, because it wasn t the way
he planned it to be, but he has hope and is dedicated with his work, even though it sadness him
that he feels as if his work is unwanted. Ken Follett s introduction to the 1999 edition of The
Pillars of the Earth can be used as an introduction to William s life, because Nothing happens the
way you plan it. 7 At the end of the story of the text Elephant, Williams does realize that he
actually can change his life, by involving his own past and experiences. Tears fills his eyes and he

Sophocles Tragic Demise Of Oedipus Rex
A dispute that still storms today is whether we have free will, or if forces outside of human
control, fate, decides our future. The same argument pertains to Oedipus Rex. The question raised
is whether Oedipus caused his downfall due to his hamartia, his bad actions, or if it was simply
fate, that the gods predetermined his life course. Sophocles expresses irony in his play to help the
audience cognize the play and give them a better outlook on the reason Oedipusand his family
brought about their tribulation and blamed fate for it. Due to Hubris, and the inadequate actions
Oedipus makes in desperately preventing what was prophesied, the result led to his and his family
s tragic demise.
It is understandable that many conclude Oedipus Rex is based on fate because of the perceived
unavoidability of the prophecy. The prophecy of the child of Laius was that he was to kill his
father and marry his mother. In the beginning of the play Laius was told of this prophecy and did
not accept what was foretold of his future. From that day forward, he did everything in his power
to prevent the prophecy from accomplishing. Laius and his wife Jocasta took extreme measures
and pierced their child s legs then ordering their shepherd to leave it on a mountain to die. As the
Shephard leaves to the mountains, out of pity, he saves its life and hands it to another shepherd
working across from him. After receiving the baby, the other shepherd offered him to his master

The Progressive Montessori School System
Perhaps it was an unintentional cruelty on the part of my parents to enroll me first in the
progressive Montessori school system that encouraged critical thinking and creativity, followed
by an evening catholic school program that required unquestioning obedience to a monolithic
religious dogma. When I began the sixth grade the window of an English professor and a family
friend gave me access to his extensive library and personal text notes because of my growing
interest in literature. In the first few months of my library visits, the Catholic program phoned my
mother to discourage my further attendance in both the church and the educational program. I had
begun incessantly probing my young Catechism instructor about the faith, and his unsatisfactory
response had prompted my protests and refusal to participate in any religious ceremonies or
sacraments. I had discovered both the Antichrist and Civil Disobedience during my forays into
the library, and though I was unable to grasp the intricacies of these texts, the basic messages
resonated with my experiences of perceived oppression and religious conditioning. The library
was my Pandora s Box, and it allowed me to escape into places and ideas far removed from what I
thought to be a banal existence in a small historic village in the Appalachian Mountains. My
youthful rebellions, and inquisitiveness, though often misguided and misplaced, were not to be
tempered in my adult life. As a high school student I was emboldened by an

The Likely Cause Of Earthquakes In The United States
Name: Olawale Oluwakoya
Media report: The likely cause of recent southeast US earthquakes.
The southeastern part of the United States should not encounter too many seismic activities because
it is located in the interior of the North American Plate, a good distance away from plate boundaries
where earthquakes mostly occur. However the southeast have seen some seismic, the latest was the
2011 magnitude 5.8 earthquake at Virginia.
Scientists recently reported in a new study a likely explanation for this unexpected incident, some
tiny pieces of the mantle under the region have been breaking off and moving deep down into the
Earth. Thereby weakening the remaining plates and making it more prone to slipping that causes
earthquakes. Most study authors have concluded that this process is ongoing and very likely ...

Earthquakes does not often occur in the middle of plates, however they do happen when old faults
or rifts far below the surface reactivate. These areas are weak compared to the surrounding plate,
and can slip easily and cause earthquake.
A CAT scan of the Earth
To find out what had been happening below the surface, researchers created 3D images of the
mantle portion of the North American Plate. Seismologists image the internal part of the Earth by
tracing the paths of seismic waves created by earthquakes as they move through the ground. The
waves move faster through colder rocks and less quickly through warmer rocks. Rocks cool and
harden as they become older, so the faster seismic waves, the older the rock.
The researchers used tremors created by earthquakes a little more than 2,000 miles away to create
a 3D map of the mantle. They discovered that plate thickness in the southeast U.S. is uneven, they
saw thick areas of dense, aged rock stretching down and thin areas of less dense, younger

The Pros And Cons Of Biological Warfare
Throughout the course of history, several methods of warfare have been practiced. One of the
standard procedures for war is to use weapons such as pistols, shotguns, grenades, and automatic
infantry. The other method is known as biological warfare, which is the use of diseases and other
biological agents to harm enemies or citizens of an opposing country. Considering that the world
flourishes in science today, scientists are researching for more efficient ways to handle war, which
is were biological warfare comes in. After this method was discovered, many armies looked to it as
the savior of war. Unfortunately, people are not aware of the many consequences that biological
warfare holds.
Biological weaponry offers a couple of positives. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Biological warfare presents many problems compared to the positives. First off, biological
weapons can potentially live in infected areas for long periods of time. For example, one of the
more common diseases used in biological warfare is Anthrax. Anthrax has the capability to
transform into spores which protects the bacteria for decades (Hoyle). This offers the chance of
spreading the biological agent in the future to other people who were unintended targets. Another
example is the incapacitating agent known as the bomblet. When used, the bomblet leaves a
remainder of five percent of the agent behind (Eitzen). If the leftover agent is identified, the
opponent can research and produce a medical treatment, rendering the agent useless. Another major
disadvantage relates to the U.S. The knowledge of the general population is that the U.S. holds no
biological weapons (Eitzen). If this is true, another country could easily attack us with biological
agents and the U.S. army would not know how to approach such a devastating hit. Although
biological warfare is cost effective, this means enemies can get ahold of the agents easier and
research more. I believe that if a group of terrorists were to spend a decent amount of time studying
the agent and manipulating it, the agent could become super

Aristotle s Poetics And The Order Of The Phoenix
Poetic Thinking
(An Essay Applying Aristotle s Poetics to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix)
Aristotle was a philosopher who revolutionized the world of theater with his essay entitled
Poetics. Poetics is focused on what Aristotle viewed to be the ultimate form of theater, Tragedy.
Aristotle thought that Theater should be a representation of real life. Shakespeare also followed
this line of thinking as described in As you Like it, All the world s a stage, And all the men and
women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, In the essay, Poetics, the six basic
elements of a great tragedy are outlined; the most important parts being plot, character, and thought.
Aristotle s essay can be used to critique classical theater as well as more modern theater such as
films. The film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix can be classified as a great tragedy,
according to Aristotle, because it utilizes complex plot, invokes pity and fear on the main
character s behalf, and is connected by plot instead of by character. Harry Potter and the Order
of the Phoenix follows a climactic plotline over the span of a year. As said by Aristotle, climactic
plotlines are far superior to episodic plots. Aristotle states, Plots of this kind are constructed by bad
poets...they stretch the plot beyond what it can bear and are often compelled, therefore, to dislocate
the natural order. Luckily, the plot of Harry Potter and Order of the Phoenix follows an upward

The 4th Armor Brigade Combat Team Case Study
The 4th Armor Brigade Combat Team (ABCT) has undergone significant changes in the past three
years. The brigade was once one of the best maneuver brigades in Forces Command (FORSCOM)
but is now riddled with issues ranging from lack of a clear vision for the unit to low morale, and
ethical concerns. As the incoming BrigadeCommander, I have had 30 days to assess the unit and
review historical information and an evaluation from the Centers for Army Lessons Learned
(CALL). The most critical leadership problem in the 4th ABCT is the lack of a clear vision for
the unit. I will use Kotter s Eight Step Change Model and the Seven Step Vision Process along
with Kotter s Eight Step change model to establish goals and implement organizational change.
By implementing change using Kotter s model and the seven step vision process, I can alleviate
some of the underlying morale and ethical issues while providing a picture of the future. The
first step of Kotter s Eight Step Change Model is creating a sense of urgency. 4th ABCT has a
systemic leadership problem. One way to create a sense of urgency is through dissatisfaction. I
will start by suspending or removing leaders currently displaying unethical behavior. Not only am I
creating dissatisfaction, but also an opportunity to use talent management to assign leaders within
the brigade who will help support change. I will suspend CPT Seth Cooper and perform a

The Cuban Missile Crisis Essay
In 1962 nuclear war seemed inevitable to the world, it was the first time nuclear war was hanging

The reason this stance can and is sometimes taken is because the entire crisis began with nuclear
weapons and nearly ended everything with them as well. America placed Jupiter Missiles with

This is what many people say started the tensions, we placed Nukes at their doorstep, thusly
Nikita Khrushchev, the Soviet Premier feared the imbalance of power would prompt America to

things factor into the eventual crisis. The economic dealings between the Soviets and Cuba,
already gave Khrushchev a footing near America in which he could fix the imbalance of power.
But the only reason the USSR and Cuba began dealing with each other is because America cut

the different ethical examples that must come into display to teach the future social workers ways
on conducting dual relationships within a work place. Dual relationships transpire when social
workers view a client in more than one relationship, either social, business, professional; which can
later be a product to boundary violations and boundary crossings. To have the possibility for
exploitation or harm to a client is what makes dual relationships treacherous. Some dual
relationships are unavoidable. Ethical issues that are associated with professional... Show more

Him, his mother Sylvia, and his older brother Jaime emigrated from Mexico 18 months ago to
the United States for a better and safer life because they were unsafe in their country. The young
boy was unfocused in class. Juan s ESL teacher referred Juan and his mother Sylvia to a social
worker for help. While in America the mother obtained a job as a house keeper for a wealthy
family who would sometimes short her each week in payment. Understanding that she is an
illegal immigrant Sylvia is too scared to complain thinking the family may turn her to the
immigration authorities. With hearing this statement the social worker offers Silvia and her
family a place to stay. The social worker also offers Sylvia a job as a stay in nanny to help her
with her financial distress. Discussion of Ethical Issues (Dual Relationships, Boundary Crossings
and Violations) Provided in the case study of Juan S, it will show the different boundary crossing
and boundary violations within dual relationships with ethical issues. This paper can help a
future social worker or anyone in the work field the factors to consider whether to enter a dual
relationship. The social worker needs to be capable of recognizing and evaluating the possible
risks and or benefits to the client. A social worker can attain help when they are in a tough situation

Cinderella Lab Report
The primary goal of this investigation was to determine whether bacteria commonly isolated as a
pair from contact lens cases could coaggregate or cohere. The organisms were used in this study
was isolated from the contact lens cases of asymptomatic daily wearers and stored in culture stock.
The primary outcome of this study demonstrated that coaggregation and cohesion occurred between
Acinetobacter spp, Staphylococcus spp and Micrococcus spp. Two Gram positive bacteria,
Staphylococcus spp and Micrococcus spp also showed coaggregation. But, Acinetobacter spp and
Micrococcus spp showed sporadic coaggregation. However, no coaggregating pairs exhibited the
high scores given by the positive control paring of A. naeslundii and S. sanguinis, which... Show

Thus we sought to determine whether those bacteria that produced coaggregation were
associated with cohesion in contact lens case biofilm formation. Cohesion can also occur when
a pioneer species modifies the substratum to encourage adhesion of successor species. As,
Staphylococcus spp are the most commonly isolated from the lens cases, could be considered as
pioneer species, but 10% of the lens cases also showed the contamination of Gram negative
bacteria. Based on recent in vivo data we found Staphylococcus spp often isolated with
Acinetobacter spp. There is other literature which also showed the isolation of P. aeruginosa and
S. marcescens from lens cases. The present study showed cohesion between Staphylococcus spp
and Acinetobacter spp/ Micrococcus spp, where Staphylococcus spp can be considered as pioneer
species and Acinetobacter and Micrococcus as successor. Whist this study did not investigate the
facilitating factor for the cohesion, will be worth to consider in future study. The next step will be
to see whether the elimination of Micrococcus and Acinetobacter contamination from lens cases
will reduce the adhesion of Staphylococcus spp which may reduce the overall rate of contact lens

Fraud Triangle And Red Flags
Option #1 Fraud Triangle and Red Flags
Plutonium entered the Internet start up boom in 1988. It experienced rapid growth that resulted in
a haphazard information technology (IT) system in which pieces of technology were implemented
quickly leaving poor integration and data integrity. To strengthen data integrity and create an
integrated IT system, the organization installed a billing system, Gateway, which required testing
utilizing an imitation yet live credit card number to test the software and integration.
Several months after integration, a piracy incident involving a member of the integration team was
detected. The incident was resolved with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
with the Operations team employee, Chris, warned and suspended with a formal warning letter to
be completed. Due to a conversation between the employee and his manager, Jonathan, the letter
was not written and months later the behavior of the employee raised suspicions with Jonathan
indicating potential fraud.
Potential Fraud Indicators The Fraud Triangle
To enable fraudulent activities, three elements comprised of the fraud triangle must exist: perceived
pressure, perceived opportunity, and rationalization of the fraudulent activities. In the case of
Plutonium, the elements of the fraud triangle were present and several factors increased the
opportunities for fraudulent activities. Though several types of fraud can be committed within an

control various computer systems by a single user. It focuses on the invention of the arm controlled
mouse that employs one tilt sensor placed on the hand. The primary goals of the system are to
have a comfortable and easily wearable device without interfering with other everyday activities
while tracking particular movements of hand that could be used to control a wearable mouse or
other wearable devices. The system uses accelerometer based tilt sensor to detect the user s hand
tilt in order to direct the mouse movement through a sensor. Clicks of the mouse are provided with
the use of pressure sensor. The system is made wireless using RF Communication. This system was
invented to assist people in their multitasking jobs where they can keep control over more things
simultaneously.
Keywords: Wireless mouse, tilt sensor, pressure sensor, multitasking Introduction: The purpose of
this project is to explore the possibility of creating a wireless mouse that could be used in any
location without having a flat surface to move it on. For this reason, we are trying to create a
handheld device that uses accelerometer and gyro to detect its own orientation a feature that can be

The Most Important Contributions Of Scientific Management...
One of the most important activities of human being is managing . The twentieth century saw a rise
of number of new theories in management which gave it a new shape and which are still used in
todays business world. The two main theories were scientific management and the human relation
approach . Scientific managementwas founded by F.W. Taylor which explained the systematic things
of doing things in a cheapest way (Gupta,2016). Scientific managementis the art of knowing exactly
what you want your men to do and then seeing that they do it in the best and cheapest way
(Gupta,2016). The human relationship management was an outcome of the exploits of the
scientific management (Bruce Nyland,2011). Elton mayo noticed the social person and their
centrality in the working environment. Elton mayo s theoryexplained that employees were not only
motivated by the financial reward but also by a range of social factors such as praise and a sense of
belonging.
Everyone may differ in their opinions regarding the significance of theories of management as it is
a subjective opinion and thinking may differ from one individual to another. The employees would
surely prefer human relationship management as it helps to satisfy them socially and increase
productivity by appreciation of work. The employees feel a sense of belonging which keeps them
motivated (mayo,2003). I personally feel that human relationship management can be compared
better to scientific management only on the

The Meaning Of The Heart By Edgar Allan Poe
In the beginning of the story, the mood is dark, mysterious, and gloomy. Poe creates this mood
through diction by describing the deterioration and atmosphere of the house. The landscape is
described with words and phrases such as dull , dark , sickening of the heart , and insufferable
gloom (1) that depict the surroundings to be eerie and depressing. The ancient family displays
themselves in the work of art. They are wealthy, well educated, reserved, and isolated. They have
an interest in art, musical science, reading, and are decorative. The entire family is known for

practice incest. They all have the same blood and have not married out of their family tree for
many generations. When Roderick was a boy, he had a cadaverous complexion, a delicate nose,
soft hair, and an luminous vibe to him. Poe uses looks to describe him. Roderick now has the
appearance of a ghastly pallor of the skin...[and] silken hair, too, had been suffered to grow all
unheeded (8) which shows the transformation of Roderick due to his illness and depression.
Roderick can be described as malnourished, hypersensitive, crazy, and sad due to his sister s

Blaise Pascal, A 17Th Century Philosopher Known For His
Blaise Pascal, a 17th century philosopher known for his work PensГ©es, or The Thoughts, serves
as a voice of human limitation. Throughout his aphorisms, he clearly expresses the limitations of
man as he refers to man s inconstancy, boredom, [and] anxiety and claims that man should know
[his] nothingness (Pascal 33, 28) Pascal holds a pessimistic view towards man s position in the
world and ultimately deems man to be utter(ly) worthless (Pascal vii). Pascal s disappointment

Infinitely far from grasping the extremes, the end of things and their beginning are for him
invincibly hidden in an impenetrable secret; and he is equally incapable of seeing the
nothingness out of which he is drawn, and the infinite in which he is swallowed up. (Pascal 5)
Pascal views the human condition through a substantially dark, pessimistic perspective. He
believes man holds an incredibly insubstantial position in the world, for he is limited in all
respects and merely occupies a sort of mid position between nothing and everything (Pascal 7).
Man lives a short life that stands as a mid point between the eternity that precedes him and the
eternity that will follow him. Man has no way of knowing for certain what came before him or
what will come after him; after all, how could such a small, fragile, perishable, and limited thing
have any certain knowledge of anything vast, imperishable, and unlimited? The nature of man is
to be nothing more than a part of a whole, and if man studied himself, he would see how
incapable he is of going beyond himself (Pascal 8). Man, according to Pascal, refuses to accept his
puniness and limitations. We refuse to accept that our very nature is minuscule and limited in the
grand scheme of eternity. Is not the duration of our life still infinitesimal within eternity, even if ten
years be added to it? (Pascal 8). Unlike the infinite, we are finite, perishable

God wants more Christians to stay in the business world, the arts, entertainment, politics,
journalism, etc. and bring their Christian convictions and world view to bear on how they
conduct their business, write songs or films, or paint pictures. One of the reasons for the recent
decline of Christian impact on our culture is because too many Christians have left the fields of
science, math, film, art, journalism, and especially politics, and hence there was a vacuum left
that the humanist, skeptic, atheist, and agnostic filled. So, now when in recent years Christians
have tried to boldly make an impact on culture in these various fields, especially politics, we are
finding the whole world view of our culture has changed and the world view of absolutes, right
and wrong, the Ten Commandments, prayer, belief in God, convictions about abortion and
homosexuality as sin are scoffed at, laughed at, labeled as intolerant, and even pushed out by
media blitz or ignoring the facts or not giving Christians opportunity to voice their opinion. When
considering a call to ministry, let me encourage you to not dichotomize too sharply between the
secular and sacred. God wants to use all kinds of vocations to both disciple the nations ( Matt.
28:19 ) and be salt and light in the culture ( Matthew 5:13 16) and have dominion and manage the

truth. A shy friend of mine, named Eduardo Medina, can be considered as a deviant or the one that

Chesapeake Colonies Vs New England Colonies Dbq Essay
Although the Massachusetts (New England) and the Chesapeake (Virgina, Maryland) region
colonies were both ruled and settled by the English, as time progressed, there are some blatant
major and minor differences that are apparent between the time period of 1607 and 1700. This
caused the two regions to foster colonies that evolved into two distinct societies by 1700. The
differences between the two colonies can be represented through their differing geographic,
economic, political, religious, and social views.
By 1700, the economics of both colonies were quite different. Virginia was dependent upon a
singular cash crop known as tobacco, while the Massachusetts colonies had a diverse economic

Virginia developed a society in which the aristocratic planters were at the top of the social ladder,
then farmers, then indentured servants and slaves. In comparison, Massachusetts had much more
equality in their social ladders, with the elect being their highest influential and powerful group.
Virginia was focused on man who had nothing but their freedom, and Massachusetts settlers
focused lives around their friends and families. These differences between the two colonies are
justified when looking at the two different Ship Manifests given in Document 2 and 3. In The Ship
s List of Emigrants Bound for New England, the people who are coming to Massachusetts are large
families. (Document 2). However in the Ship s List for Emigrants Bound for Virginia, there are
many more young men traveling without their families. After reading the documents, these
differences stem also from the reasons for establishment. Puritans developed their society around
the church, and John Winthrop seems to say together many times, emphasizing a trait about the
settlers. Equality. In Virginia however, they were more concerned about making money than having
everyone be equal, and thus explains the reasons for different social

Examples Of Root Cause Analysis
Chapter 2
Literature Review

2.1. Root Cause Analysis:
In Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is the process of identifying causal factors using a structured
approach with techniques designed to provide a focus for identifying and resolving problems.
Tools that assist groups or individuals in identifying the root causes of problems are known as root
cause analysis tools. Every equipment failure happens for a number of reasons.
There is a definite progression of actions and consequences that lead to a failure. Root Cause
Analysis is a step by step method that leads to the discovery of faults or root cause. An RCA
investigation traces the cause and effect trail from the end failure back to the root cause. It is much
like a detective solving a crime.

Like Cox and Spencer (1998), Dettmer
(1997) has also used root cause analysis on management of constraints. He presents one of the
earliest studies on the debate of applying Root Cause Analysis to processes. A proper management
decision is necessary to succeed the RCA tools and methods in a particular environment. Lepore
and Cohen (1999), Moran et al. (1990), Robson (1993) and Scheinkopf (1999) move ahead that
when change is needed, then think root cause analysing, identifying and eliminating. The
foundations of their studies are pioneering one as they question an accepted practice for root cause
analysis and the results of the example studies are encouraging.
However, the studies are far from being practical one as they include too many parameters and
assumptions. Smith (2000) has explained that Root Cause Tools can resolve conflicting strategies,
policies, and measures. The perception is that one tool is as good as another tool. While the
literature was quite complete on each tool as a stand alone application and their relationship with
other problem solving methods. There are very few literatures available on

An Argument Against Atheism Based On The Existence Of Evil
William Rowe tries to provide answers for three interrelated questions. 1) Are there arguments for
atheism based on the existence of evil that may rationally justify someone in being an atheist? 2)
How can a theist defend this position against the argument for atheism based on the existence of
evil? 3) What position should the informed atheist take concerning the rationality of their belief?
Rowe makes sure the reader known what kind of evil is being dealt with or is being used in the
argument which is the central concept of the whole argument. He asserts that in order to develop
the argument for atheism based on the existence of evil; it is necessary to look at some sort of evil
that out world contains in great quantity. He states that this abundance of evil is the suffering
humans and animals.
Rowe sets out the problem by provide an argument that he believes can be used to rationally justify
someone being an atheist, William Rowe states the argument goes as follow:
1. There exist instances of intense suffering which an omnipotent, omniscient being could have
prevented without thereby losing some greater good or permitting some evil equally bad or worse
2. An omniscient, wholly good being would prevent the occurrence of any intense suffering it
could, unless it could not do so without there by losing some greater good or permitting some evil
equally bad or worse
Therefore
3. There does not exist an omnipotent, omniscient, wholly good being.

Thomas Jefferson s Influence On Modern Geography

Jefferson and Modern Geography
Geography is such a holistic discipline that it requires much concentration and focus on its subject
matter. A geographer must focus on a specific topic that interests him or her and devote their brain
power to discovering how the area of interest is influenced by its geographic environment through a
spatial perspective. Thomas Jefferson is one such individual who committed throughout his life to
view the world through the spatial lens.
In William A. Koelsch s article on Thomas Jefferson, American Geographers, and the Uses of
Geography Koelsch makes the argument for the reanalysis of Jefferson s geographic prowess as
basis for his title as the Father of Modern Geography (Koelsch, 2010). If we know the current
state of modern geography, we can then trace the influencers of the current philosophical
approach to spatial thinking through our history books to then find the impact of Thomas
Jefferson s influence on the study of geography and how his influence has evolved geography
into the expansive science it is today. As revealed in Tim Cresswell s textbook Geographic
Thought, modern Geography is largely a product of key influential geographers who applied their
research to changing and solving some of the greatest issues of their time. The granite base for the
Geography we know today was founded on the spatial thinking of the early German geographers.
Among them was one Alexander

Active Age Of Pre K
During my program observation, I observed the local elementary. This elementary educates level
Pre Kindergarten to Second Grade. For my project, I chose the aware and active age of Pre K.
This specific classroom held a variety of ages preparing for kindergarten, starting at five to six
years old, with 14 children. While I was observing, the main teacher taught many of the centers, and
lessons, although there was another supervisor that would stop in and take one student who had
trouble staying focused and remaining calm. This advisor would stop in once every few hours to
give this child a quick break, and reminded him of appropriate behavior. After my interview with the
professional, the qualifications required for this location include Bachelors Degree in Elementary
Education, required by law. The teacher who lead this classroom of pre kindergarteners attended
the University of Northern Iowa. Most of the children in this classroom were around the age of
six, one student who was the youngest turned six the day school started, and most celebrate their
half birthdays during winter time. The events taking place during my observation covered a wide
variety of subjects. Starting from rest time at 1 o clock, readers workshop and read aloud,
independent reading, recess, movement and handwriting, writing, read aloud, to dismissal time
around 3:30 p.m. Near the door, located the daily schedule, along with the lunch menu, and any

Similarities Between Ancient Greek And American Society
American Society and Ancient Greece
Ancient Greece believed that art is a depiction of the one s culture and individualism. Ancient
Greece helped shaped the world of today. We have many similarities with ancient Greece today.
Ancient Greece had three different column styles the Doric, Ionic and Corinthian as a substitute
wood for building temples. These three different styles are still been used today in various mode
like the Greeks.
Thanks to the Doric style a plain, simple column with a circle on the top of the column, we can
enjoy the benefits of sitting on our porches with roofs attached protecting us from the elements. The
porch on the Governor s mansion in Atlanta, GA is another example of the Doric style. Ancient
Greece built temples ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Corinthian style is used for contemporary furniture designs like my mother s cherry wood high
four posts bed with flowers etch in the posters. Many planners use the Corinthian style columns for
elaborate decorations particular in weddings today.
Another similarity, we share with ancient Greece is the love of sports rivalry especially the
Olympic Games. In 776 B.C., the first Olympic Games begin as an achievement in art, ethical
conduct and interaction of the mind in ancient Greece. Today athletes from all over the world take
part in the Olympic Games. In spite of the many new events such as bicycling, skating, gymnastics,
swimming, soccer and basketball, many of the earlier (ancient Greece) events such as footraces,
jumping, discus and javelin throwing, boxing, and wrestling are still a part of the today games.
As we mourned the recent loss of Muhammad Ali, boxing champion of the world to many,
continued the ancient Greece s tradition of carrying the torch to light the cauldron during the 1996
Summer Olympics games in Atlanta, GA. The torch remains lit until the conclusion of competition
today as it did in ancient

Theme Of Self Image In 12 Angry Men
Self image is a largely talked about issue. From negative to positive outlooks, it can be seen in
most magazines, heard on most talk shows, and is mentioned in almost every article on the
internet. The 1957 MGM film Twelve Angry Men compels the characters in the film and the
audiences to view their own self image when making a decision on the guilt of an eighteen year
old boy who is accused of killing his father. By using logic, reflection, and attitude, the movie
shows each of the characters to review their views and beliefs and how they see themselves and
others. During the film, logic was required on everyone s part. They were deciding on an eighteen
year old kid s life! It was not a decision to be made quickly. Mr. Davis realizes this and is the only
one to vote not guilty when taking the first vote (Lumet). Logic came into play because Mr.
Davis thought logically about all of the evidence presented and because of this he felt that there
was a reasonable doubt and could therefore, not sentence the young man. Throughout the rest of
the film, we see more of the men thinking logically, for example, when Juror Nine realizes that
the woman who claims she witnessed the murder, wore glasses and would not have been able to
clearly see the boy if she claimed to be laying in bed trying to fall asleep. Another example is
when juror number five, who grew up in the same area of town that the defense did, shows the
proper way of using a switchbladeknife, making a logical

Was Vlad The Impaler A Hero
Have you ever watched a movie that had the character dracula in the movie? Most of these
characters in the movies or books were based off of Vlad the Impaler. There are even rumors
saying that he dipped his bread into the blood of his victims, and that he drank the blood of his
victims aswell. It was pretty gruesome on the way he killed his victims.Vlad the Impaler was an
evil person, who was a violent, torturous dictator, and he was viewed as one of the most evil
person in the world. If Vlad is the most evil person in the world, wouldn t you want to know why
he did what he did? His father sent Vlad when he was 13, and his younger brother Radu when he
was 7, to turkey to be held as prisoners to prevent war between Romania and Turkey. While being
held as prisoner, he surged with hatred towards the Ottomans. The Ottoman Sultan, Murad II, took
them both under his wing and they were schooled and trained in horseback riding, swordsman ship,
warfare, archery, and combat. He treated them as his own sons. Since his older brother and father

war with the ottomans, he was outnumbered by as much as 3 times the size of his army. He
burned crops, poisoned wells and paid men with sicknesses and diseases to sneak into the
ottoman ranks and to get them to have their sickness or disease. He also impaled enemies on

Boarding School Seasons Chapter Summaries
Boarding School Seasons by Brenda J. Child offers a look into the boarding school experiences of
many American Indian students. Child favors unpublished sources such as letters to give an
uncensored inside look into boarding school experiences. However, she also includes other sources
such as school newspapers, oral history collections, photographs, biographies, United States
government publications, and annual reports. Government boarding schools were created to help
the American government gain more control over Indians and to push the Natives to adopt the
white ways of life such as language, skill, and education. While integration was the ultimate
objective, Child sets out to show that even with the challenges of cultural assimilation and a
devastating land policy, American Indian people, even children, placed limits on assimilation and
also defined and shaped the boarding schoolera. (viii) The boarding schools designed to tear
American Indian families apart did not succeed in isolating children from their tribes, but created
bonds and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The schools were overcrowded, students were malnourished, and the federal government neglected
to provide Native children with even the most basic necessities in the schools where they resided.
(32) This chapter also discussed the assimilation process. Government schools taught students to be
ashamed of their names, their tribal languages, and even family surnames derived from tribal
language. (29) The next chapters speak of the homesickness many students felt because of the
assimilation policies keeping children from returning home on breaks and of the diseases that
spread rapidly throughout the schools such as tuberculosis and trachoma. Through the use of letters
between students and parents, Child paints a portrait of the emotional hardships families faced
from being separated with little

Illusions of Success For years now, many students have thought How do I grow up too be
successful? but the truth here is that the people asking this, don t know what success really means
to them. Accomplishment can be defined in a variety of ways, such as the amount of money a
person makes, how happy an individual is by themselves, or even achieving in the simple things in
life. You can, however, gain the characteristics needed to be successful in the future, for example,
patience, determination, and a straight mindset. Accidental effects can also come into play, for
instance dumb luck that can happen to anybody and the wealth gap between the person or the
school they attend. These are just three of the most important traits a scholar must have in order to
get somewhere in their future of education and in life down the path they may take.

In the short article, The Secret to Raising Smart Kids, by Carol S. Dweck tells how an intelligent
young boy was always praised for easily understanding the material in elementary school by passing
with nothing but A s all the way through. This only lasted until then because once he got into
middle school, Jonathan perceived that everything was a lot harder than it was before like in
elementary. So as a consequence, his grades and motivation went down. Our society worships
talent, and many people assume that possessing superior intelligence or ability along with
confidence in that Ability Is a recipe for success. (Dweck) One thinking like this will not only fail

Critical Analysis of Sarah Orne Jewett s Short Story A White Heron Set in an isolated portion of
Maine, Sarah Orne Jewett s short story A White Heron revolves around conflict, a difficult
choice a nine year old must make which will lead to her losing a new friend. It is the story of a
lonely nine year old girl name Sylvia who lives in the Maine woods with her grandmother, Mrs.
Tilley. As the story progresses Sylvia met a young and appealing ornithologist, often named as The
Hunter , who is in search of a rare bird he spotted in the area. The hunter counted on Sylvia to let
him know of the location of the bird; later on Sylvia had to choose between revealing the location of
the white heron to the hunter and protecting the bird. At... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She was quite frightened when she first heard the hunter whistling; she interprets it as not a bird
s whistle which would have a sort of friendliness, but boy s whistle, determined and somewhat
aggressive. (Jewett 5) Sylvia s reaction after she heard the whistling signifies her fear of the
human kind and the hunter who made the whistle represents a part of Sylvia s home town which
was somewhat too crowded for her. Considering the fact that Sylvia is afraid of the human kind
and does not feel comfortable in her home town, she feels at home in the forest and as one with
the natural world. But her relationship with nature came to a point where she had to undergo a
ritual test to prove her worthiness and courage; her test takes the form of a literal climb to a
higher place, from where she can see the world. (363) The process of the test consist of a climb
to the top of an old pine tree, in the forest, which she believes that one can see the ocean once at
the top. She thought, perhaps, she can locate the heron s nest if she climbs to the top of it. She
had difficulty climbing the tree but she had managed with determination and bravery to reach the
top. Sylvia s courage summons a response from the tree, a deep and intimate bond of trust in
which nature rises to the needs of the girl without her asking. (Atkinson 376) At the top of the pine
tree Sylvia had seen the world and she feels like she belongs in it; as

  • 2. The Core Capabilities Of Icf 2.2. Architecture Overview ICF is a multi tiered, service based framework that integrates broad range of technologies covering the autonomy of a machine to analytical services that are combined with domain specific user interfaces to form specific battlefield applications [] . This framework can be adapted to other battle command and robotic control systems to enhance human performance, and can communicate with underlying control and simulation systems via standard protocols. Underlying ICF provides a generalized framework that integrates various requisite knowledge bases, knowledge representations, the applications, machines, to represent a collaborative technology that offers different forms of user assistance in a holistic manner. Figure 2: Intelligence and control abstraction layers for ICF The core capabilities of ICF are designed around three main modules corresponding to the three tiers, AMM, PES and UI, of human machine collaboration. The adjustable autonomy module (AAM) contains the reasoning necessary for modeling the human plans and intentions, situation reasoning, and determining new automation settings. This module covers most of the reasoning requirements labeled (2a c) in the previous section. The planning and execution system (PES) contains an abstraction layer for controlling automated processes, as well as providing the rest of the system access to information generated by the automated processes, such as sensor readings and asset status ... Factory Farming Essay Poultry is by far the number one meat consumed in America; it is versatile, relatively inexpensive compared to other meats, and most importantly it can be found in every grocery store through out the United States. All of those factors are made possible because of factory farming. Factory farming is the reason why consumers are able to purchase low priced poultry in their local supermarket and also the reason why chickens and other animals are being seen as profit rather than living, breathing beings. So what is exactly is factory farming? Abraham Lincoln, in this case was an exception. In the famous poem, O Captain! My Captain! Written by, Walt Whitman in the year 1865. The poem, refers to a terrible event in American history; the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. Instead of the country celebrating and rejoicing over the ending of the Civil War and being happy over the country being kept whole, everyone was mourning in the loss of their leader. Aboard a ship, the poem is about a fellow sailor grieving from the loss of his captain. The sailor in the poem is singing a song that praises his captain for leading them safely on their voyage and leading them back home. As the other sailors are celebrating their homecoming with everyone on shore, the sailor notices the captain. He is dead, lying on the deck of the ship fallen cold and dead (line 8). The sailor goes on and mournfully walks on the deck where the captain had died while the people on shore are unaware of their fallen leader. Rise up and hear the bells; (Line 9). The sailor says wishing his captain could witness the excitement. Everyone adored the captain and admitted that his death feels like a terrible dream, It is some dream that on the deck, you ve fallen cold and dead. (Lines 15 16). Then in the final stanza of the poem, the sailor puts together his feelings of mourning and pride. (Whitman) The end of the Civil War ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It s around noon, half past eleven, and the room was so quiet that if you were to listen close you could hear little ants running across to reach the crumbs that had scattered beneath the counter and onto the floor. The walls are quiet, too, with nothing to watch, they close their eyes and rest soundly. The lamps bleed light into the room, but as time passes, the bulbs dim with death and eventually burn out. Summer is coming, the season of getting old, when hairis damaged by chlorine in the blue pools and skin grows pale underneath the outlines of swimsuits and t shirts stick to the sweating backs of the working people. • 7. Analyzing Climate Change Climate change has become one of the most important issues on the global political agenda. This is largely due to the fact that the developments that influence climate change also impact the way in which life is conducted at local, regional, national, and global level. The present paper aims to analyze climate change from a general perspective with due consideration for aspects that eventually define climate change as an essential challenge as well as for humanity in its entirety and for the individual as a single element of society. The first part of the research provides background information on what climate change is, what are its most important constituent elements, and what are its implications. Climate change represents in essence a global challenge that can only be tackled at the global level. This is why it is important to consider the views and perspectives of global organizations such as the United Nations, through the United Nations Environment Program among other organisms under the coordination of the United Nations. Climate change has been at the center of vivid debates in recent decades particularly because it affects all strata of human life, from food supplies to education, health, and sustainable development. Its complex impact on human life makes climate change an all the more important aspect to be taken into account by policy makers, world leaders, and decision takers around the world. When your dreams don t get fulfilled, you will be in that box and wait for the light. It s not always about what you want, but what you need. And to live a good life, and to do something productive, you have to work in a way that will make you happy, because that is what you need the most. And that s when he got the blue elephant5. The elephant can symbolize freedom, peace and happiness, which he is looking for. It was a gift from his mother, and she had been gone for a long while, so when she came back it brought joy and hope in him. Therefore the elephant is meaningful and also the light in his dark working room. William gets a switch between getting hope and losing it, as when he was talking with his wife Ginny, about moving to Australia, he just says Let s see what happens as if it doesn t interest him.6 He is not pleased with the way his life is, because it wasn t the way he planned it to be, but he has hope and is dedicated with his work, even though it sadness him that he feels as if his work is unwanted. • 12. Sophocles Tragic Demise Of Oedipus Rex A dispute that still storms today is whether we have free will, or if forces outside of human control, fate, decides our future. The same argument pertains to Oedipus Rex. The question raised is whether Oedipus caused his downfall due to his hamartia, his bad actions, or if it was simply fate, that the gods predetermined his life course. Sophocles expresses irony in his play to help the audience cognize the play and give them a better outlook on the reason Oedipusand his family brought about their tribulation and blamed fate for it. Due to Hubris, and the inadequate actions Oedipus makes in desperately preventing what was prophesied, the result led to his and his family s tragic demise. It is understandable that many conclude Oedipus Rex is based on fate because of the perceived unavoidability of the prophecy. The prophecy of the child of Laius was that he was to kill his father and marry his mother. In the beginning of the play Laius was told of this prophecy and did not accept what was foretold of his future. From that day forward, he did everything in his power to prevent the prophecy from accomplishing. Laius and his wife Jocasta took extreme measures and pierced their child s legs then ordering their shepherd to leave it on a mountain to die. • 13. The Progressive Montessori School System Perhaps it was an unintentional cruelty on the part of my parents to enroll me first in the progressive Montessori school system that encouraged critical thinking and creativity, followed by an evening catholic school program that required unquestioning obedience to a monolithic religious dogma. When I began the sixth grade the window of an English professor and a family friend gave me access to his extensive library and personal text notes because of my growing interest in literature. In the first few months of my library visits, the Catholic program phoned my mother to discourage my further attendance in both the church and the educational program. I had begun incessantly probing my young Catechism instructor about the faith, and his unsatisfactory response had prompted my protests and refusal to participate in any religious ceremonies or sacraments. I had discovered both the Antichrist and Civil Disobedience during my forays into the library, and though I was unable to grasp the intricacies of these texts, the basic messages resonated with my experiences of perceived oppression and religious conditioning. The library was my Pandora s Box, and it allowed me to escape into places and ideas far removed from what I thought to be a banal existence in a small historic village in the Appalachian Mountains. My youthful rebellions, and inquisitiveness, though often misguided and misplaced, were not to be tempered in my adult life. As a high school student I was emboldened by an ... Seismologists image the internal part of the Earth by tracing the paths of seismic waves created by earthquakes as they move through the ground. The waves move faster through colder rocks and less quickly through warmer rocks. Rocks cool and harden as they become older, so the faster seismic waves, the older the rock. The researchers used tremors created by earthquakes a little more than 2,000 miles away to create a 3D map of the mantle. One of the standard procedures for war is to use weapons such as pistols, shotguns, grenades, and automatic infantry. The other method is known as biological warfare, which is the use of diseases and other biological agents to harm enemies or citizens of an opposing country. Considering that the world flourishes in science today, scientists are researching for more efficient ways to handle war, which is were biological warfare comes in. After this method was discovered, many armies looked to it as the savior of war. Unfortunately, people are not aware of the many consequences that biological warfare holds. Biological weaponry offers a couple of positives. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Biological warfare presents many problems compared to the positives. First off, biological weapons can potentially live in infected areas for long periods of time. For example, one of the more common diseases used in biological warfare is Anthrax. Anthrax has the capability to transform into spores which protects the bacteria for decades (Hoyle). This offers the chance of spreading the biological agent in the future to other people who were unintended targets. Another example is the incapacitating agent known as the bomblet. When used, the bomblet leaves a remainder of five percent of the agent behind (Eitzen). If the leftover agent is identified, the opponent can research and produce a medical treatment, rendering the agent useless. Another major disadvantage relates to the U.S. The knowledge of the general population is that the U.S. holds no biological weapons (Eitzen). If this is true, another country could easily attack us with biological agents and the U.S. army would not know how to approach such a devastating hit. Although biological warfare is cost effective, this means enemies can get ahold of the agents easier and research more. I believe that if a group of terrorists were to spend a decent amount of time studying the agent and manipulating it, the agent could become super ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Aristotle s Poetics And The Order Of The Phoenix Poetic Thinking (An Essay Applying Aristotle s Poetics to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix) Aristotle was a philosopher who revolutionized the world of theater with his essay entitled Poetics. Poetics is focused on what Aristotle viewed to be the ultimate form of theater, Tragedy. Aristotle thought that Theater should be a representation of real life. Shakespeare also followed this line of thinking as described in As you Like it, All the world s a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, In the essay, Poetics, the six basic elements of a great tragedy are outlined; the most important parts being plot, character, and thought. Aristotle s essay can be used to critique classical theater as well as more modern theater such as films. The film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix can be classified as a great tragedy, according to Aristotle, because it utilizes complex plot, invokes pity and fear on the main character s behalf, and is connected by plot instead of by character. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix follows a climactic plotline over the span of a year. As said by Aristotle, climactic plotlines are far superior to episodic plots. Aristotle states, Plots of this kind are constructed by bad poets...they stretch the plot beyond what it can bear and are often compelled, therefore, to dislocate the natural order. The brigade was once one of the best maneuver brigades in Forces Command (FORSCOM) but is now riddled with issues ranging from lack of a clear vision for the unit to low morale, and ethical concerns. As the incoming BrigadeCommander, I have had 30 days to assess the unit and review historical information and an evaluation from the Centers for Army Lessons Learned (CALL). The most critical leadership problem in the 4th ABCT is the lack of a clear vision for the unit. I will use Kotter s Eight Step Change Model and the Seven Step Vision Process along with Kotter s Eight Step change model to establish goals and implement organizational change. By implementing change using Kotter s model and the seven step vision process, I can alleviate some of the underlying morale and ethical issues while providing a picture of the future. The first step of Kotter s Eight Step Change Model is creating a sense of urgency. 4th ABCT has a systemic leadership problem. One way to create a sense of urgency is through dissatisfaction. I will start by suspending or removing leaders currently displaying unethical behavior. Not only am I creating dissatisfaction, but also an opportunity to use talent management to assign leaders within the brigade who will help support change. I will suspend CPT Seth Cooper and perform a Commander s inquiry prior to pursuing a 15 6 investigation. This will show the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is what many people say started the tensions, we placed Nukes at their doorstep, thusly Nikita Khrushchev, the Soviet Premier feared the imbalance of power would prompt America to strike first. The economic dealings between the Soviets and Cuba, already gave Khrushchev a footing near America in which he could fix the imbalance of power. The twentieth century saw a rise of number of new theories in management which gave it a new shape and which are still used in todays business world. The two main theories were scientific management and the human relation approach . Scientific managementwas founded by F.W. Taylor which explained the systematic things of doing things in a cheapest way (Gupta,2016). Scientific managementis the art of knowing exactly what you want your men to do and then seeing that they do it in the best and cheapest way (Gupta,2016). The human relationship management was an outcome of the exploits of the scientific management (Bruce Nyland,2011). Elton mayo noticed the social person and their centrality in the working environment. Elton mayo s theoryexplained that employees were not only motivated by the financial reward but also by a range of social factors such as praise and a sense of belonging. Everyone may differ in their opinions regarding the significance of theories of management as it is a subjective opinion and thinking may differ from one individual to another. The employees would surely prefer human relationship management as it helps to satisfy them socially and increase productivity by appreciation of work. The employees feel a sense of belonging which keeps them motivated (mayo,2003). I personally feel that human relationship management can be compared better to scientific management only on the ... (Pascal 5) Pascal views the human condition through a substantially dark, pessimistic perspective. He believes man holds an incredibly insubstantial position in the world, for he is limited in all respects and merely occupies a sort of mid position between nothing and everything (Pascal 7). Man lives a short life that stands as a mid point between the eternity that precedes him and the eternity that will follow him. Man has no way of knowing for certain what came before him or what will come after him; after all, how could such a small, fragile, perishable, and limited thing have any certain knowledge of anything vast, imperishable, and unlimited? The nature of man is to be nothing more than a part of a whole, and if man studied himself, he would see how incapable he is of going beyond himself (Pascal 8). Man, according to Pascal, refuses to accept his puniness and limitations. We refuse to accept that our very nature is minuscule and limited in the grand scheme of eternity. Is not the duration of our life still infinitesimal within eternity, even if ten years be added to it? (Pascal 8). Unlike the infinite, we are finite, perishable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The freedom of press sounds like one of the things we shouldn t be focused on, especially with everything else that is going on in our world. Why exactly is this an important freedom? • 43. Thomas Jefferson s Influence On Modern Geography Samuel Schafer Dr. Michael Pretes GE 300W 10/11/2016 Jefferson and Modern Geography Geography is such a holistic discipline that it requires much concentration and focus on its subject matter. A geographer must focus on a specific topic that interests him or her and devote their brain power to discovering how the area of interest is influenced by its geographic environment through a spatial perspective. Thomas Jefferson is one such individual who committed throughout his life to view the world through the spatial lens. In William A. Koelsch s article on Thomas Jefferson, American Geographers, and the Uses of Geography Koelsch makes the argument for the reanalysis of Jefferson s geographic prowess as basis for his title as the Father of Modern Geography (Koelsch, 2010). If we know the current state of modern geography, we can then trace the influencers of the current philosophical approach to spatial thinking through our history books to then find the impact of Thomas Jefferson s influence on the study of geography and how his influence has evolved geography into the expansive science it is today. As revealed in Tim Cresswell s textbook Geographic Thought, modern Geography is largely a product of key influential geographers who applied their research to changing and solving some of the greatest issues of their time. The granite base for the Geography we know today was founded on the spatial thinking of the early German geographers. Among them was one Alexander ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Theme Of Self Image In 12 Angry Men Self image is a largely talked about issue. From negative to positive outlooks, it can be seen in most magazines, heard on most talk shows, and is mentioned in almost every article on the internet. The 1957 MGM film Twelve Angry Men compels the characters in the film and the audiences to view their own self image when making a decision on the guilt of an eighteen year old boy who is accused of killing his father. By using logic, reflection, and attitude, the movie shows each of the characters to review their views and beliefs and how they see themselves and others. During the film, logic was required on everyone s part. They were deciding on an eighteen year old kid s life! It was not a decision to be made quickly. Mr. Davis realizes this and is the only one to vote not guilty when taking the first vote (Lumet). Logic came into play because Mr. Davis thought logically about all of the evidence presented and because of this he felt that there was a reasonable doubt and could therefore, not sentence the young man. Throughout the rest of the film, we see more of the men thinking logically, for example, when Juror Nine realizes that the woman who claims she witnessed the murder, wore glasses and would not have been able to clearly see the boy if she claimed to be laying in bed trying to fall asleep. Another example is when juror number five, who grew up in the same area of town that the defense did, shows the proper way of using a switchbladeknife, making a logical ...
