Contract Law Vs Non Tort
factory does not directly pay the additional cost to address any health issues or to assist maintain the
cleanliness of the air or water. In some cases, on the other hand, the harmed parties can use legal
measures to get compensation for damages (Frank, 343).
A positive externality, on the other hand, is an unpaid benefit that expands beyond those directly
initiate the activity. One instance, would be a neighborhood resident who creates a private garden, the
aesthetic beauty of which payback other people in the community. Also, when a group voluntarily
chooses to create an advantage, such as a community park, others might benefit without contributing
to the project. Any individuals or groups that gain additional benefits without contributing are known
as free riders (Ronald, 13).

These rules are not only a definition. They are linked with a lot more practical issues than this. These
rules also provide protection to rationality in taking decisions in terms of property rules and liability
rules. Liability rules and property rules deal with non Tort applications as well. Law of Tort deals with
the losses people face at work place due to some carelessness or negligence. Non Tort applications of
property rules and liability rules are also common. The implementation originates from Calabresi
Melamed taxonomy. Contract law suggests that creditor has a promise from the debtor. The
entitlement is confirmed by the contract law. To enforce this law through the help of property law, one
needs to have specific performance from the creditor. If this entitlement however is to be protected
only by liability rule, specific performance will not rely on the creditor. The only promise will be to
offer to pay damages and that too by a third party. In many cases there are risks associated with this

Prime Time Health Care
Understand problem / opportunity WHAT DO WE NEED TO KNOW WHAT ORGANIZATION
KNOWS: INTERVIEWS Company Timeline: The Accidental Start 2011 2012 Based on a recent
interview with both managing partners of Prime Time Healthcare, our team has a solid understanding
on how data visualization can create numerous advantages for our clients (Spencer Dries, 2014). In
2012, Prime Time Healthcare was created by accident after a lawsuit changed the entrepreneur s
original business plan, and the result of the case forced the managing partners to focus on a single
niche due to compliance and regulatory issues (Spencer Dries, 2014). Company Timeline: 2012 2013
the Oil Boom The first trend that Prime Time Healthcare was able to take advantage of was the
increased demand for skilled labor in low populated areas in North Dakota and Montana due to the
shale oil boom (Spencer Dries, 2014). This initial success in recruiting skilled talent led to the
perfection of several processes and the beginning of key relationships with rural healthcare providers
(Spencer Dries, 2014). Despite recent success, rural demand for skilled labor remains the most
important value driver for current and future business (Spencer Dries, 2014). One of the surprises
during the oil boom experience was that the region s demand for skilled labor was not as unique as
previously thought (Spencer Dries, 2014). Pretty quickly, it became clear that several areas needed this

Mercury Surface Research Paper
Mercury s surface is very rocky and covered in boulders and pulverized dust. The surface is also filled
with craters. The planet is a grey color. It is the smallest planet but very dense. The surface of Mercury
is very similar to the surface of the moon, but Mercury has more smooth plains. On Mercury you will
not find any clouds, dust storms, rivers or any other sign of weather. The planets magnetic field keeps
any winds away from it. Mercury has a mainly iron rich core. The planet will always be facing the sun
on one side, lighting up half of its surface. The side facing the sun is very hot, while the side not
facing the sun gets very cold. There is absolutely no sign of anything living on Mercury, and there has
not been any for a long time.
Venus atmosphere is made up of mostly carbon dioxide and some nitrogen. There are also traces of
carbon monoxide, argon, helium and neon on the planet. All of these elements make Venus
atmospheric pressure more then 90 percent heavier then the Earth. Closest to the surface is a layer of
carbon dioxide, which is covered by a layer of clouds which makes it hard to make out the planet. ...

The three major types of tectonic plates are divergent, subduction and transform. Divergent plates tend
to move apart from each other. Subduction plates are when oceanic plate moves under a continental
plate. This can cause volcanos to erupt and large sized earthquakes. Transform plates slide back and
forth against one another. The Lithosphere consists of the Earths crust and uppermost mantle. The
North American plate and the South American plate are the major plates of the lithosphere. The
lithosphere also consists of the Pacific plate, the African plate and the Eurasian plate. The Pacific plate

Short Essay On The Pantheon
The Pantheon, whose name derives from the ancient Greek and means common to all the gods : Pan
means all , and Theon means gods , is the best preserved building from ancient Rome. Its magnificent
dome is a lasting testimony to the genius of Roman architects and as the building stands virtually
intact. The purpose of the building is not known for certain but rather the name, porch and pediment
decoration suggest a temple or something to that affect. Be that as it may, no faction is known not of
the divine beings thus the Pantheon may have been outlined as a place where the emperor could show
up in a setting which helped spectators to remember his heavenly status, measure up to with other
gods of the Roman Pantheon and his idolized emperor antecedents. ... Show more content on

The first building was destroyed by a fire in 80 CE and the second building was struck by lightning in
110 CE and again burned to the ground. The third building of the Pantheon was presumably started
during the rule of Trajan (98 117 CE) yet not at long last completed until around 125 CE when
Hadrian was emperor. Following Hadrian s standard practice of dedicating rebuilt structures and
monuments to pay tribute to the first dedicator, the Pantheon is committed to Marcus Agrippa and the
noticeable inscription on the porch façade examines: M. AGRIPPA L. F. COS TERTIUM FECIT
(Marcus Agrippa, child of Lucius, three time consul, made this). Beneath the main inscription is a
smaller one demonstrating the restorations carried out by Septimius Severus and Caracalla in 202 CE

The Negro And The Racial Mountain
Langston Hughes was an African American poet, social activist, novelist, and playwright. His works
are still studies, read, and, in terms of his poems and plays, performed. He is best known for being a
leader of the Harlem Renaissance. Within his works, he depicted black America in manners that told
the truth about the culture, music, and language of his people. Besides his many notable poems, plays,
and novels, Hughes also wrote essays such as The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain which
Hughes gives insight into the minds of middle class and upper class Negroes. Prior to reading this
essay, I never heard of, nor did I know, Langston Hughes composed essays, much less an essay that
outwardly depicts aspects of life that most are accustomed to and see nothing wrong with. The Negro
and the Racial Mountain formulated this view that Langston Hughes was more than a poet who wrote
about jazz music as he is depicted within grade school textbooks, but instead, a man who had a great
passion for the African American race to develop a love for themselves and for non African American
audiences to begin to understand how the African American race can be strong and creative despite
struggles that may be occur. There is a possibility that this essay, The Negro Artist and the Racial
Mountain, is not more commonly known because it has the ability to make the reader uncomfortable,
no matter if he is an African American or white. For the African American, one can find himself

What Is Elie Wiesel s Role In Night
Imagine being one of of five hundred thousand jews that survived the mass murdering of over 7
million jews. Elie Wiesel s survival of the holocaust was very significant due to how many times death
was just on the tip of his nose during the duration of being in camps and getting transferred numerous
times. In the novel Night the book goes over the whole experience of the holocaust down to the bare
bone from a first person point of view, the author Elie Wiesel was really able to grasp how things were
to go down during the holocaust and how almost everybody was mistreated. Some may believe that
Elie s faith in god is what kept him alive during his time in the concentration camp; however such as
physical and emotional support he got from his dear father more strongly proves that the relationship
with his father is actually what kept him alive.
There may be a misconception that his faith in god is what allowed Elie to survive the holocaust.
However, this is illogical. For example, close to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

what would he do without me? I was his only support (Wiesel 95). As you can see he had thoughts of
just giving up but simply couldn t because he had his father to live for. Further evidence of this is back
to when his father was infected with dysentery and the doctor told Elie don t forget that you re in a
concentration camp. Here, everyman has to fight for himself and not to think of anyone else (Wiesel
115). At this point Elie knew his father was dying and there wasn t much he could do about it other
than just take his dad s rations because he simply didn t want or need them. This evidence thoroughly
supports the argument that Elie had no right to die because he felt obligated and responsible for his

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Missionary Kid By Tim Stewart
Tim Stewart, creator of the Dictionary of Christianese website, in his article Missionary Kid (MK)
(2013), argues that missionary kids can either be little devils or precious angles, but either way they
have a unique and diverse upbringing. He supports this claim by first defining a good MK as someone
who practices what the bible teaches (par. 1), then by declaring the bad stereotype of the MK who
falters under the pressure and becomes a rebel or troublemaker (par. 2), finally by showing that MKs
grow up surrounded by a different culture than their parent s, which provides many beneficial
circumstances for learning (par. 3 6), while also cultivating issues when returning home . Steward s

Thanks Ryan, now I will be talking about What Church organisations support homelessness and why
do they? The main church organisation I will be exploring is Salvation Army. Around 100,000
Australians will be homeless tonight. Homelessness can affect anyone you know your neighbour, your
friends even your family. There is a wide diversity of people turning to us for help for many different
reasons. Broken marriages, disabilities, domestic violence, mental illness or breakdown may all
contribute. The largest single cause of homelessness in Australia is domestic and family violence,

correctional clients, intravenous drug users, women, homeless people, and particular ethnic groups
within the community). The term homelessness has been subject to contested and nuanced
interpretations and defining criteria. With nearly 1,000 individual Salvation Army social program
activities and services operating through dozens of service hubs, networks and activity centres across

Salvador Dali Distinctively Visual
Salvador Dali was born on May 11, 1904 in Figueres, Spain. (Biography) As a child, Salvador
produced high quality pieces of art. Salvador s family had recognized his talent and supported him
throughout his childhood. His family was so highly supportive of his talents that they even built him a
studio, where he continued to practice his talent. His early childhood consisted of mainly art practice,
which led to studying in a academy in Madrid, Spain. Though, his time in the academy was short
lived, due to many interferences with professors and behavior issues, eventually being expelled. In the
early 1920 s, Dali decided to travel to Paris and worked and learned from artists like Picasso, Magritte

Salvador Dali is mainly known for his artwork of The Persistence of Memory, this piece of art shows
graphics of melting pocket watches in a empty desert landscape. The scene consists of pocket washes
without their chains melting on top of rocks and branches. The background is of a mountain sized rock
to the right of the ocean, appearing in front of the sunset. The painting also appears in half sunlight
and half shadow. This is an example of his painting technique. Dali frequently used the philosophy of
hard and soft in his paintings. (Totally History) The melting watches refers to time being flowing and

to fully understand the piece of art besides the man himself, Salvador Dali. There has been many

Northanger Abbey Quotes
The Influence of Friends: A Critical analysis of Northanger Abbey
Friendship is certainly the finest balm for the pangs of disappointed love. Jane Austen s heroine,
Catherine Morland, learns this principle very early in the course of her adventures in Bath. Catherine
is an interesting character. She is very naive and doesn t understand a lot of things about people,
especially about reading people. Many times she is used by others around her, because she assumes
that everyone around her is a good and kind individual. The truth is, not everyone is good. Some
people have a past that have hardened their hearts and made them indifferent. Through Catherine s
interactions with Isabella Thorpe, John Thorpe, Eleanor Tilney and Henry Tilney we will ... Show

This quote by Henry Tilney shows what kind of man he is. Throughout the novel he is often educating
Catherine: teaching her how to better understand people. He is very funny and teases Catherine many
times. He is a hard character to read, though which is very ironic. How he can teach people to read
others while they in turn cannot read him? This is incredibly interesting and humorous. Henry also
knows a lot about novels, and muslin, and other things generally associated with women. This may be
due to the fact that he had to help raise Eleanor. Henry s relationship with Catherine ultimately ends in
their marriage. ...depend upon it therefore, that real jealousy can never exist between them; depend
upon it that no disagreement between them can be of any duration. Their hearts are open to each other,
as neither heart can be to you; they know exactly what is required and what can be borne; and you
may be certain, that one will never tease the other beyond what is known to be pleasant (Northanger
Abbey, 173). In this quote Henry is talking to Catherine about Isabella and his brother. But you can
also conclude that this is Henry s idea for a perfect marriage. Henry s opinion about his and Catherine
s relationship could be hiding in this statement. Ultimately, Henry s role in society is shadowed by his
father. General Tilney will not allow Henry to marry Catherine once he finds out she is penniless.
Henry is expected to marry for money like his father did. But in the end Henry refuses he fathers plan
for life. This shows that Henry doesn t want to be defined by his father. He is his own man and if
wants to marry for love, he is going to. This also shows how mannered and good Henry is. Most men
in that time period would have used Catherine s ignorance and inexperience to their

The Pros And Cons Of Quantitative Research
This paper primarily concerns qualitative research, but we were asked to compare both qualitative and
quantitative methods. During comparison, there are many noted differences in both study designs, but
not many similarities. Qualitative research uses a subjective approach with a large sample population.
It collects non statistical data, using an unstructured or semi structured technique (Nieswiadomy
Bailey, 2018). Quantitative research uses an objective approach and large, random, sampling to ask
opinions in a structured way. The findings of quantitative studies are conclusive and used to
recommend a final course of action (Nieswiadomy Bailey, 2018). While it is hard to see similarities
between the two, both methods aim to find a solution to a problem or question, the researcher doing
the study may affect the outcome and an analysis of the collected data must be done (Souza, 2017).
What many don t realize is the connection amongst the two. You can say, both types of research build
upon one another, meaning quantitative studies can quantify results found in qualitative research
(Souza, 2017). I read two articles one qualitative, the other quantitative, in which both studies
attempted to gain solutions to the prevention of severe pressure ulcer development. A pressure ulcer is
a localized injury to the skin and/or underlying tissue usually over a bony prominence, as a result of
pressure, or pressure in combination with shear (Souza, 2017 pg. 1). The studies took place

The slowing Japanese economy following a boom period of the 1980 s and early 1990 s has resulted
in Japanese consumers becoming more cautious about spending, which has slowed demand for
Tiffany amp; Co. s luxury items. Appreciation of the Yen/Dollar in the period from 1983 1993 shown
in Appendix 1 has now lead to evidence of overvaluation from a purchasing power parity (PPP)
perspective of the yen shown in Exhibit 7 of case. The Japanese Jewellery market has a value of $20
billion of which Tiffany amp; Co. currently has a 1% market share leaving potential growth in market
share despite slowed demand.
Internal Size up
As part of the arrangement Mitsukoshi would still receive 27% of net retail sales in compensation for
providing boutique facilities, sales staff, collection of receivables, and security for store inventory.
This will give Tiffany access to Mitsukoshi s established sales networks although Tiffany amp; Co.
would take over marketing responsibilities in Japan from Mitsukoshi. Mitsukoshi sold Tiffany amp;

The Role Of Electronic And The Media
section barriers are discussed. In the context of this model, the role of electronic and media in
promoting awareness, willingness of nursing staff and review committee to revise policies and
curriculum, and cost and feasibility of infrastructural changes are discussed in detail.
Role of electronic and print media in promoting awareness: Any policy to gain momentum must have
public support. The public must be convinced of its importance through repeated exposure and
explained the repercussions of not implementing the policy. The role of print and electronic media
lacks in certain areas creating little value to any event or program that highlights the importance of
implementing fall prevention programs through formal training of nursing staff.
Revision in current policies: Previous policies must be evaluated to assess the need and room for

Another successful civil resistance movement in South East Asia was during the 1980 s in South

religion by a strong catholic ethos throughout the country. The government tried to cleanse the country

In 1985, the New Korea Democratic Party became the main opposition in the National Assembly. The

the civil resistance movement in the Philippines, America aided the country in becoming a democracy.
South Korea, like the Philippines, built good relations with the United States during and after World

Comparison In Walt Disney s Sleeping Beauty And Maleficent
Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent
Walt Disney s Sleeping Beauty story is widely considered one of Disney s best traditional fairytales,
and modern day Disney executives decided to translate the entire story to live action. I m going to be
comparing the Disney storybook version of Sleeping Beauty, to the modern day, live action film,
Maleficent, highlighting differences and similarities.
In the Disney story, we don t find out why Maleficent wished such a curse on Aurora. She just showed
up at the celebration, and cursed the baby. The fairy, Merryweather, was able to soften the curse in the
book, but in the film, Maleficent made it appear as if she was softening the curse, although she didn t
believe she was. In the film, Maleficent cursed Aurora because her father, now the king, had
Maleficent deep in love with him since they were children. Aurora s father had always dreamed about
being the king, and when he got the chance to pursue this dream, he took it; breaking Maleficent s
trust and her heart. He took her most beloved possession from her her wings. Maleficent Thought she
had found true love, because on her 16th birthday, before the king had stolen her wings, he gave her
true love s kiss. After finding out that royalty was more important to Aurora s father than she was, she
began to believe that there was no such thing as true love. In the film Maleficent, there is a lot of
background added to the story, whereas in Disney s story Sleeping Beauty, there is virtually no
background added to Maleficent s character, or her intentions.
In Disney s story and in the live action film, the three good fairies were sent into the forest, disguised
as peasant women, to raise Aurora until the day after her 16th birthday. Aurora was raised with no
knowledge of where she came from, or that she was the princess of the land; she was now named
Briar Rose, for the sake of keeping her safe, and a secret. In the film, Maleficent watches over Briar
Rose and begins to interact with her and care about her, and love her. In both the film and the
storybook, a prince comes across Briar Rose, and they are instantly attracted to each other. It is soon
time for the princess to return to the castle, and her parents. In the book, the

Example Of Cosmopolitanism
Cosmopolitanism is also shown in the arts, which is an engagement with the cultural and artistic and
literature life of our societies. The ownership of art belongs to all humankind rather than the
geographic location where it was created. Appiah writes much of the greatest art is flamboyantly
international; much ignores nationality altogether. (126) Similar with Appiah s critique of science
worship, people failed at recognizing the fixed form of judgment that we use when it comes to art
appreciation. Again, we have lived in the reality that we created and used to. To appreciate art from a
cosmopolitan perspective, instead of box it as a private cultural property and isolate it in the museum,
everyone should be able to living with art. (127) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

interdependent and through this organic unity, we know Cosmopolitanism is a universal trait of
humankind. Cosmopolitanism is what we have come aware of through modern transportation and
information system. Whatever cosmos means to us today, in our current situation, it functions as an
approach to work with forms of differences. At the heart of Cosmopolitanism, the goal is not to
categorize different models of thinking/knowing and put them into a hierarchy, instead to allow people
have the freedom to opinion. Without a fixed criteria of the epistemic norm of truth, and focused our
shared value on humanity, we can ascribe freedom to everyone and advance human civilization as a

Theme Of Bravery In Life Is Beautiful
How does Benigni show the significance of bravery in the film Life is Beautiful?
Life is Beautiful (1997), an Italian comedic drama set in 1939, tells the tale of Guido, a young Jewish
man living during the time of World War II, the film follows Guido and his family; from when they
were happy living freely to when they are forced to work unfairly in concentration camps. Directed by
Roberto Benigni, also known for Pinocchio (2002), Life is Beautiful portrays many important themes
and messages to the audience. Benigni shows the importance of bravery in the film, through cinematic
techniques including camera angles, lighting, and sound.
Bravery is likely the most conspicuous theme in Life is Beautiful. It is exhibited throughout the whole
film by the cinematography directed by Roberto Benigni. Cinematography includes the different
angles, camera movement and editing. Camera angles can affect the audience in many ways. The most
common camera angle used in this film is the wide shot as it shows the characters completely not only
the main character but all the characters in the foreground and background. To portray the theme of
the importance of bravery, Benigni uses a mid shot to grasp the attention of the audience which
focuses in on Guido and a German Nazi Officer. In this scene, Guido offers to translate the rules of the
concentration camp as he claims to speak German, however Guido only wishes to translate the rules
for his son making the rules seem like the rules of

Hot Tin Roof
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof starts like it ends, with drama. It is set on a plantation in Mississippi and there
is never a dull moment on the plantation. Every single character has their own distinct personality that
makes the reading of this play an exciting time. Although the personalities are fun to read about, the
difference in personalities creates drama in the house. The story is centered around the Pollitt family
as members of the family try to convince Big Daddy to leave them the plantation when he passes. Cat
on a Hot Tin Roof by Tennessee Williams is an exciting play that is focused around the drama of a
Mississippi family.
The plot of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is a very interesting one. It all starts in the main setting of the story,

The first Character that needs to be mentioned, Brick, is the quietest and most reserved character in
the play. Brick is a former football player and a famous announcer. (Williams 149). Brick is in a
constant battle with himself throughout the whole story. This being because he has started drinking at
all times so that he can hear a click in his head and become peaceful. The reason that he drinks is
because he feels he is responsible for his friends Skipper s death. Brick s drinking is important to the
play because it shows his disinterest in almost everything that occurs during the book. For example,
while the will of Big Daddy s is being discussed, Brick is outside on the balcony having a drink.
Gooper says to Maggie during this scene Why don t you go out there and drink with Brick? (Williams
149). This also is important because it shows that they characters in the play realize that Brick has no
interest in anything besides his drink. Brick is an interesting character because he is the only one who
does not thrive for Big Daddy s love, yet he is the only one who receives it. Brick can also be
described as a character who is disgusted. He is disgusted with many events in this play. Cat on a Hot
Tin Roof was heralded by some as the play in which homosexuality was at last to be presented without
evasion (Bentley). This quote by critic Eric Bentley stands true because the idea of homesexuality in
the play is another reason Brick is disgusted. He is disgusted with the world for the most part because
nobody understand that his and Skipper s relationship was not a homosexual one.He states Why can t
exceptional friendship, real, real, deep, deep friendship! between two men be respected as something
clean and decent (Williams 117). This could be a reason that he is also sort of disgusted with women.
Critic Jere Huzzard says Clearly both father and son had enjoyed a physical competency

Argumentative Essay Animal Snoops
Animal Intelligence Argumentative Essay Have you ever heard a parrot repeat what a human has said.
Is this a sign of intelligence or is it mimic. I believe that animals are intelligent. Animals use their
intelligence to find food, a mate, and a home.
I believe this because in the passage Animal Snoops it tells about a parrot named Marshmallow
eavesdropping on some robbers. When listening to the robbers, he learned one of the robbers
nicknames JJ . When the robbers went to leave the bird shouted JJ . The robbers left but then came
back to nab the bird. When they returned, the police was waiting for them. I think this this proves

Family And Family Life
50 years ago, a prominent stereotype in America portrayed the men as hardworking breadwinners
while on the opposite side of the spectrum the woman stayed home taking care of the house, children,
cooking and cleaning. In the current generation, a lot has changed, roles have slightly switched and
men and women both have the opportunity to work in the field they desire. These changes have
brought new values and brought forth many obstacles with balancing the family/work life. Although
the stereotype about the father being the one working and the mother staying home changed
significantly over the years, when both parents are working and trying to keep their family together
there are many obstacles that come along. In today s society, many face the complication of not being
able to spend enough time with their children due to work, not being as flexible in balancing the work
life versus family life and having to face the situation of trying to pick between choosing their child
over a dream job.
To begin with, today it is very common that both parents go to work in order to support their family,
but sometimes either mom, dad, or both can be working too much and not realize that they can be
missing out on being a part of their child s life later regretting their pass decisions as their children
grow older. It is very common that some parents put more time into working rather than spending time
with their child and do not realize that it affects their family and their child due to

The Different Types Of Legislatures
The different types of legislatures vary from state to state. Professionalism is defined in our Textbook,
Governing States and Localities, as the Process of providing legislators with the resources they need
to make politics their main career, such as making their positions full time or providing them with full
time staff (Smith and Greenblatt). About 50 percent of states are in between full time, well paid, and
large staffed, and part time, low pay, and small staffed. While states like California, New York, and
Pennsylvania are on the high end in terms of professionalism in legislature, New Hampshire is known
as one of the six least professional. In the United States there are 28 Republican controlled legislatures
and 17 Democrat controlled legislatures, and 5 split legislatures ( Full and Part Time Legislatures ).
You will soon see that New Hampshire is in the minority amongst the states in having a split
legislature. Currently New Hampshire is one of four states with a Democratic Governor, Maggie
Hassan, and a split legislature ( 2014 State and Legislative Partisan Composition ).
The New Hampshire capitol building is in the city Concord. New Hampshire is the 42nd biggest state
in terms of population, holding about 1,323,459 people. The state is made up of ten counties with a
total area of 9,304 square miles. It was the 9th state added to the Union on June 21, 1788 ( New

Elie Wiesel Holocaust Survivor Essay
Elie Wiesel Holocaust Survivor
As war broke out in Europe during 1939, no one could either imagine or believe the terror that Adolf
Hitler would soon bring to the lives of Jewish people. Drawing from his paranoia and a drive for a
world Nazi power, Hitler singled out the Jews as the cause for problems in Germany and began to
carry out his plan for the destruction of a part of humanity. Hitler not only persecuted the Jews of
Germany, but he also targeted the Jews in Poland and other parts of Europe, such as Transylvania,
which was the home of Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel.
Breaking his self imposed vow of silence in 1958, Elie Wiesel published Night which details his

Moesh solemnly told Elie of what really went on in Galicia; after exiting the trains, the Jews were
forced to dig massive graves and then wait in line to be murdered. Even children were tossed into the
air as prey for the guards machine guns. Moesh had escaped only because he was injured and
presumed dead.
During the following days and nights, Moesh spread his story throughout the community in an effort
to warn his people of the impending terror, but no one believed him. Some said, He s just trying to
make us pity him. What an imagination he has. 2 Many people thought Moesh had just simply gone
mad, and even Wiesel denied the stories of his friend.
The Jews not only denied the warnings of Moesh, but also disbelieved that Hitler planned to
exterminate them. Wiesel summarized the general feeling of the community by stating, Could he
exterminate a population scattered throughout so many countries? So many millions! What methods
could he use? And in the middle of the twentieth century! 3 Other reports indicate that the Jews did
not believe that Hitler s attempted genocide was occurring. Newspaper articles about the murders were
shrugged off as panic inducers because killing such large numbers was incomprehensible; many
believed that the deportees were sent away to do agricultural work, but they would soon learn
otherwise.4

Snows Of Kilimanjaro Analysis
Angelica Sawan Professor North October 23, 2017 SLD Packet 2 Summary: The Snows of
Kilimanjaro by Ernest Hemingway is a tale of a man named Harry and his Wife Helen who are on a
safari trip, and while on it Harry catches gangrene because he doesn t put ointment on a cut he
received from a thorn while taking a photo of a water buck. Throughout the story Harry is a Negative
Nancy, arguing with his wife and being blunt about how he is going to die before a rescue team can
get to them. For example, Harry and Helen argue about whether he should drink a whisky and soda,
whether she should read to him, and about how he is going to die. Harry thinks about his life
experiences a lot in this short story, about how he hasn t lived up to his potential as a writer because he
has a tendency to marry rich women. Harry also goes in and out of consciousness while remembering
his life adventures. His wife Helen does care for Harry and she does enjoy his writing, but she is
obviously concerned about his health and his self pity irritates her. Harry mentions that Helen is really
a good wife and does not keep him as a proud possession and how she doesn t neglect his true talent,
which is writing. We also find out that Helen is a widow who was bored of the lovers before Harry
and they married because of her enjoyment of his writing and how they have similar interests. At the
end of the story Helen wakes up because of a loud hyena call, she takes a flashlight and shines it on
Harry s bed which she moved into their tent earlier that night. She sees him under the mosquito net
with his leg hanging off of the cot and notices that Harry is dead. The hyena cries again but Helen can
t hear it over her heart breaking. Formal: Tender Buttons by Gertrude Stein is a collection of writings
about ordinary objects, and is divided into objects, food, and rooms. She uses random objects with
random adjectives, and she uses language to direct the mind and force the reader to connect nouns
with unsuspecting adjectives to make you look at the world in a new way. It s a pros poem, it s a
cubist poem. She tries to break apart logic. The theme is giving new meaning to ordinary objects, she
wants us to think, she uses a lot of literary devices.

A Thousand Peaks Vs. The Maids Of Honor
At first glance, the 17th century paintings of the Baroque period, India, and China may not have much
in common, but upon closer inspection there are relationships and divergences to consider beyond the
surface. These details can be seen between Bichitr s Jahangir Preferring a Sufi Shaykh to Kings, Wang
Hui s A Thousand Peaks and Myriad Ravines, and Diego Velázquez s Las Meninas (The Maids of
Honor). While each carries the style of its own location of origin, they all showcase influence and
subject matter similarities and differences worth making note of, most specifically the presence of
duality in focus within the paintings.

(Sullivan).
The third of the paintings stemming from the Baroque period done by Velázquez is one of his many
works for the court, setting the tone in the particular area, while not extending much further (49,
Bazin). The court employing Velázquez was that of King Philip IV, with the focus of this painting
being the king s daughter. This particular piece has not only the artist himself depicted, the children of
the court scattered about, but also a mirror in the back showing the King and Queen standing as the
painter is depicted to be painting their portrait. Each point of attention draws way from the former,
then pushing to the next in a cycle of focus. Once Velázquez started using almost strictly the style of
portraits, he mastered the art using the available means to the fullest. The painting at hand in particular
uses his mastery of portraiture to the fullest in varying who is being painted and their positions on the
canvas (59 60, Bazin).
Each painting draws influence from their individual location of origin, mostly in subject, to appeal to
the patrons of the time. While each piece was created within the 17th century, there are obvious
differences from place to place in how they were meant to be created. This is evident in the materials
used for the paintings, Velázquez s piece being oil on canvas, Hui s being a hanging scroll consisting

Piano Pitches
The row in piano part appears fourteen times as segments I to XIV with various contours and
configurations in which the row could either form a melodic line or a simultaneity. As an example, in
mm. 1 3, the pitches produce layers of voices, while in mm. 3 5 selected pitches of the row produce
simultaneities (fig. 9). Repetition of pitches occurs in segments I, II, III, VII, VIII, IX, X, XII, and
XIII; while the elimination of pitches no. 1, 2, and 3 occurs in segments IV and VIII.
Besides segmentation, there are two other things that govern the setup of the row in the piano, one is
the palindromic setting of the row and the other one is a sort of underlying tonal scheme of the song.
The pitches of row form a palindrome in eight different places, palindromes A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and

pitches in the row excluding pitches nos. 1, 2, and 3 that belong to segments IV and V form a
palindrome D (fig. 11). Variations on the register of the pitches produce a palindrome D that has a
span a little more than three octaves with the lowest pitch is pitch no. 4 (A2) in the middle of
palindrome in m. 7, and the highest pitch is pitch no. 12 (B5) in m. 10 (fig. 11).
The alternation between tonal chords F# major built from pitches no. 8. 10, 11 and single pitches no. 5
and 12, which all belong to segment VIII, create a palindrome E in mm. 12 13 that has an arch contour
(fig. 12). Palindrome F also has an arch contour and only includes the pitches from segment IX; a
single pitch no. 2 that alternate with the dyads built from pitches nos. 4 and 11 create a palindrome F

This is prominently represented by Jack, who is dressed in his school uniform clean and presentable,

Even though we live behind a wall of false purity, our true reflection will always show this evil
because it is in our nature to be barbaric animals. That is why in my drawing Jack s reflection in the

In the scholarly article African Genesis and Lord of the Flies : Two Studies of the Beastie Within the

Michelin Case Study
Introduction
This essay would to explore and analyze the main issue with inefficient production of Michelin
Group, and this issue is influenced comprehensively by three aspects in Michelin manufacturing
process, problems in production line, production system management, and inventory management.
Meanwhile, the below analysis will combine with relevant tools and theories from the principle of
lean production to handle and give detailed recommendations.
Michelin Group, the French tyre manufacturer, is the second largest tyre manufacturer in the world,
which through classifying product lines rely on its own area activities to fulfill the demands of
customers and optimize its market (Michelin.co.uk, 2017). Michelin owns over 69 manufacturing
factories in at least 18 countries around the world, with annual productivity of 180 million tires, 10
million copies of the map, and guides.
Importantly, in terms of manufacturing of Michelin, Michelin puts quality first not just as a slogan
quality managers maintain absolute controlled over the output per plant and even the output per tyre
(Hessman, 2013). So how can Michelin improves production efficiency with maintaining high quality
production as a constant challenge for Michelin Group s production management.
Methodology
According to the main challenge of inefficient production, i.e. Michelin with improving production
efficiency based on maintaining high quality, the theory of lean production system will meet the
direction of development in Michelin production management. Thomas (1996) pointed that lean
production can reduce overall costs, especially indirect costs, while remaining quality standards and
reducing manufacturing cycle time. The goal of Lean production is maximization of enterprise
interests, and timely manufacturing and eliminating all waste in the production process of raw
materials procurement, storage, transportation, production and packaging(Heizer, Render and Munson,
2017). There are four elements from the lean production theory will be utilized to develop the
analysis: value stream, pull production system, waste elimination and total quality management.
Value stream, is a set of specific activities that are required for a particular

According to dictionary.com parental leave is a leave of absence from a job for a parent to care for a

including maternity, paternity, and adoption leave. Cambridge Dictionaries Online defines maternity
leave as the period when a woman can legally be absent from work in the weeks before and after she

This is an excellent option as it would allow parents to take paid leave but there are also many
disadvantages to this approach. First, some employees, especially if they are new, often accumulate
very little sick or vacation time. If someone is earning four hours a pay period and there are 26 pay
periods in a year, they would only accumulate approximately 13 days of leave. If they accrue sick
leave at the same rate, that would give the employee a total of 26 days of paid leave, not even a
month. Adding in a typical 10 federal holidays, an employee would have approximately 36 days for
which they could take leave and be paid for which does not provide adequate income for an employee
who has chosen to take the full 12 weeks of leave offered by FMLA. Using up all of one s leave can
also create issues. If the employee catches the flu but has used up all of their leave, they will have to
take leave without pay. If the employee has more than one child and that child becomes ill, they will
not have to take leave without pay in order to stay home and nurse the child. This leave without pay
could be covered under FMLA but if all of the benefits were used up during paternity leave, their
position could be in jeopardy if they needed to take leave without pay for unforeseen reasons. Using
holiday pay could prove to be difficult because employees may not always get

Pro Choice Vs. Pro-Abortion
All I m going to say is there is a difference between pro choice and pro abortion. Pro choice is
understanding that you have no control over what another woman does with her body. Pro choice is
understanding that people make their own decisions based on their life. Pro choice is not necessarily
approving of abortion, it s allowing people to make decisions, which is why it s called pro CHOICE. If
you are pro life, you are saying an unborn fetus is equivalent in value as a born child. If a fire was

Assuming that in next year, the budget spends on display advertising will be decreased to 10% of the
total budget, while the rest will spend on search engine. From this way the impact on total revenue
will be around $1.5 million, which equals to 15% of increase rate. Actually, if BBVA keep enlarge the
budget on search engine the increase rate of total revenue will keep grow. Next Year Budget

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bioprospecting
Historically there has been prolific scientific interest in the lifestyles, knowledge, cultures, histories
and worldviews of indigenous peoples. Rural communities depend on TK for food, health and
agriculture. This TK forms the basic cultural identity for them, contributing to social cohesiveness and
thereby reducing vulnerability and poverty. Globally 80 per cent of the world s populations, mostly the
undeveloped regions, still rely on the indigenous medicinal knowledge of local plants for their medical
needs (Shankar 1997). In India, around 70 per cent of the population directly depends on land based
occupations, forests, wetlands and marine habitats for ecological livelihoods and cultural sustenance
(Kothari and Patel 2006).

In the last several centuries staple foods and high value cash crops have been moved from one part of
the world to another, keeping pace with shifting markets and opportunities (The Crucible Group
1994). Even a biodiversity rich country like Brazil has to draw two thirds of its plant based human
calorie intake from species that are found in another continent. Since distribution of the world s
biodiversity is in inverse proportion to scientific and technological wealth (Laird et al. 2002), research
institutions and companies based in the developed nations look beyond their borders for diverse and
novel genetic resources for their study and use. Bioprospecting is rooted in the sovereign rights of
nation states over their biological resources in a strong position to negotiate terms for favorable
benefit sharing with interested stakeholders (Dutfield

Comparing The Painting Bathers And Andre Derain s Blue Nude
Wright 2
Henri Matisse and Andre Derain were a part of multiple art movements and they created very
controversial artwork using the ideas of Primitivism. They re also the founders of Fauvism, that s why
they wanted to incorporate color and structure into their art. They wanted the colors themselves to
evoke emotion, without it having to relate back to the natural world. In Blue Nude and Bathers, they
achieved this goal successfully. I think that Matisse s Blue Nude painting was inspiration for Derain s
painting Bathers. They both depict naked women lying outside, however Blue Nude was painted first.
After analyzing these two pieces, I ve concluded that Henri Matisse s Blue Nude painting (1907)
Andre Derain s painting Bathers (1908) were both influential representations of the primitive ideas
prevalent at the time through their use of overt sexuality their imitation of African masks.
Both of these paintings display the freedom of sexuality. Blue Nude even has a sexual title. The

They both want the viewer to focus more on the colors, lines, and brush strokes, instead of the image
itself. They both wanted their work to speak for itself and it did. Ultimately, Bathers was favored more
than Blue Nude. I think that they re both conversation pieces and are explicit paintings, but the
audiences at that time were more upset about them. The flatness of Bathers is quite interesting.
Because it s hard to tell where the light source is coming from, or if there even is a light source. While
Blue Nude makes it easier for the viewer to see that the light source is coming from the left side. Both
paintings utilize blue paint, but Blue Nude uses it more harshly than Bathers. Blue Nude has the blue
paint surrounding the nude lady while Bathers has the blue paint surrounding only a few ladies. I think
that Derain s Bathers wanted to somewhat imitate Matisse s Blue Nude in a very creative

Mesopotamia Facts
Mesopotamia, the land between two rivers, was one of the world s first civilizations. The most
memorable facts about Mesopotamia include that Sumer was the first Mesopotamian civilization
where the first written language,Cuneiform, and Hammurabi s Code, first code of law to be
documented, were established. I recently studied this civilization in another course, so facts such as
the civilization being known as the Fertile Crescent because of its geographical advantage and that
many Mesopotamian civilizations were polytheistic were already part of my knowledge. I didn t,
however, know that Hebrews, the first monotheists, originated near Sumer. I am curious to research
about Hebrews and find out how long it was until other monotheists emerged. ... Show more content

An already known fact about the Egyptian civilization that was their elaborate burials. They were very
architecturally advanced and constructed the pyramids and other complex tombs for the Pharos. The
final ancient civilization I read about was the Indus River Valley civilization. This included ancient
India, China, and the Americas. India was developed during the Bronze Age and was very advanced
because their cities were planned out in a grid format and even had plumbing systems. Their social
order is what surprised me the most because there was a group outside of the order, the untouchables,
you couldn t move up a class until the next life, and the ultimate goal was nirvana, the union of Atman
with Brahman. China established cultural diffusion with the initiation of the Silk Road . I also studied
this civilization in a previous course and learned about the dynastic cycle and how dynasties can be
overthrown because of the Mandate of Heaven. I lastly discovered that Olmecs in the Americas
contributed to society by creating a calendar, building great pieces of architecture, and passing on their
traditions to future generations to

His works are still studies, read, and, in terms of his poems and plays, performed. He is best known for being a leader of the Harlem Renaissance. Within his works, he depicted black America in manners that told the truth about the culture, music, and language of his people. Besides his many notable poems, plays, and novels, Hughes also wrote essays such as The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain which Hughes gives insight into the minds of middle class and upper class Negroes. Prior to reading this essay, I never heard of, nor did I know, Langston Hughes composed essays, much less an essay that outwardly depicts aspects of life that most are accustomed to and see nothing wrong with. The Negro and the Racial Mountain formulated this view that Langston Hughes was more than a poet who wrote about jazz music as he is depicted within grade school textbooks, but instead, a man who had a great passion for the African American race to develop a love for themselves and for non African American audiences to begin to understand how the African American race can be strong and creative despite struggles that may be occur. Jane Austen s heroine, Catherine Morland, learns this principle very early in the course of her adventures in Bath. Catherine is an interesting character. Many times she is used by others around her, because she assumes that everyone around her is a good and kind individual. The truth is, not everyone is good. This is incredibly interesting and humorous. Henry also knows a lot about novels, and muslin, and other things generally associated with women. This may be due to the fact that he had to help raise Eleanor. Henry s relationship with Catherine ultimately ends in their marriage. ...depend upon it therefore, that real jealousy can never exist between them; depend upon it that no disagreement between them can be of any duration. • 13. The Pros And Cons Of Quantitative Research This paper primarily concerns qualitative research, but we were asked to compare both qualitative and quantitative methods. During comparison, there are many noted differences in both study designs, but not many similarities. Qualitative research uses a subjective approach with a large sample population. It collects non statistical data, using an unstructured or semi structured technique (Nieswiadomy Bailey, 2018). Quantitative research uses an objective approach and large, random, sampling to ask opinions in a structured way. The findings of quantitative studies are conclusive and used to recommend a final course of action (Nieswiadomy Bailey, 2018). While it is hard to see similarities between the two, both methods aim to find a solution to a problem or question, the researcher doing the study may affect the outcome and an analysis of the collected data must be done (Souza, 2017). What many don t realize is the connection amongst the two. You can say, both types of research build upon one another, meaning quantitative studies can quantify results found in qualitative research (Souza, 2017). I read two articles one qualitative, the other quantitative, in which both studies attempted to gain solutions to the prevention of severe pressure ulcer development. Comparison In Walt Disney s Sleeping Beauty And Maleficent Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent Walt Disney s Sleeping Beauty story is widely considered one of Disney s best traditional fairytales, and modern day Disney executives decided to translate the entire story to live action. I m going to be comparing the Disney storybook version of Sleeping Beauty, to the modern day, live action film, Maleficent, highlighting differences and similarities. In the Disney story, we don t find out why Maleficent wished such a curse on Aurora. She just showed up at the celebration, and cursed the baby. The fairy, Merryweather, was able to soften the curse in the book, but in the film, Maleficent made it appear as if she was softening the curse, although she didn t believe she was. In the film, Maleficent cursed Aurora because her father, now the king, had Maleficent deep in love with him since they were children. Aurora s father had always dreamed about being the king, and when he got the chance to pursue this dream, he took it; breaking Maleficent s trust and her heart. He took her most beloved possession from her her wings. Maleficent Thought she had found true love, because on her 16th birthday, before the king had stolen her wings, he gave her true love s kiss. After finding out that royalty was more important to Aurora s father than she was, she began to believe that there was no such thing as true love. In the film Maleficent, there is a lot of background added to the story, whereas in Disney s story Sleeping Beauty, there is virtually no background added to Maleficent s character, or her intentions. In Disney s story and in the live action film, the three good fairies were sent into the forest, disguised as peasant women, to raise Aurora until the day after her 16th birthday. Aurora was raised with no knowledge of where she came from, or that she was the princess of the land; she was now named Briar Rose, for the sake of keeping her safe, and a secret. In the film, Maleficent watches over Briar Rose and begins to interact with her and care about her, and love her. The most common camera angle used in this film is the wide shot as it shows the characters completely not only the main character but all the characters in the foreground and background. To portray the theme of the importance of bravery, Benigni uses a mid shot to grasp the attention of the audience which focuses in on Guido and a German Nazi Officer. In this scene, Guido offers to translate the rules of the concentration camp as he claims to speak German, however Guido only wishes to translate the rules for his son making the rules seem like the rules of ... The first Character that needs to be mentioned, Brick, is the quietest and most reserved character in the play. Brick is a former football player and a famous announcer. (Williams 149). Brick is in a constant battle with himself throughout the whole story. This being because he has started drinking at all times so that he can hear a click in his head and become peaceful. The reason that he drinks is because he feels he is responsible for his friends Skipper s death. Brick s drinking is important to the play because it shows his disinterest in almost everything that occurs during the book. For example, while the will of Big Daddy s is being discussed, Brick is outside on the balcony having a drink. Gooper says to Maggie during this scene Why don t you go out there and drink with Brick? (Williams 149). This also is important because it shows that they characters in the play realize that Brick has no interest in anything besides his drink. Brick is an interesting character because he is the only one who does not thrive for Big Daddy s love, yet he is the only one who receives it. Brick can also be described as a character who is disgusted. He is disgusted with many events in this play. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof was heralded by some as the play in which homosexuality was at last to be presented without evasion (Bentley). This quote by critic Eric Bentley stands true because the idea of homesexuality in the play is another reason Brick is disgusted. He is disgusted with the world for the most part because nobody understand that his and Skipper s relationship was not a homosexual one.He states Why can t exceptional friendship, real, real, deep, deep friendship! between two men be respected as something clean and decent (Williams 117). Family And Family Life 50 years ago, a prominent stereotype in America portrayed the men as hardworking breadwinners while on the opposite side of the spectrum the woman stayed home taking care of the house, children, cooking and cleaning. In the current generation, a lot has changed, roles have slightly switched and men and women both have the opportunity to work in the field they desire. These changes have brought new values and brought forth many obstacles with balancing the family/work life. Although the stereotype about the father being the one working and the mother staying home changed significantly over the years, when both parents are working and trying to keep their family together there are many obstacles that come along. In today s society, many face the complication of not being able to spend enough time with their children due to work, not being as flexible in balancing the work life versus family life and having to face the situation of trying to pick between choosing their child over a dream job. To begin with, today it is very common that both parents go to work in order to support their family, but sometimes either mom, dad, or both can be working too much and not realize that they can be missing out on being a part of their child s life later regretting their pass decisions as their children grow older. It is very common that some parents put more time into working rather than spending time with their child and do not realize that it affects their family and their child due to ... Drawing from his paranoia and a drive for a world Nazi power, Hitler singled out the Jews as the cause for problems in Germany and began to carry out his plan for the destruction of a part of humanity. Hitler not only persecuted the Jews of Germany, but he also targeted the Jews in Poland and other parts of Europe, such as Transylvania, which was the home of Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel. Wiesel summarized the general feeling of the community by stating, Could he exterminate a population scattered throughout so many countries? So many millions! What methods could he use? Snows Of Kilimanjaro Analysis Angelica Sawan Professor North October 23, 2017 SLD Packet 2 Summary: The Snows of Kilimanjaro by Ernest Hemingway is a tale of a man named Harry and his Wife Helen who are on a safari trip, and while on it Harry catches gangrene because he doesn t put ointment on a cut he received from a thorn while taking a photo of a water buck. Throughout the story Harry is a Negative Nancy, arguing with his wife and being blunt about how he is going to die before a rescue team can get to them. For example, Harry and Helen argue about whether he should drink a whisky and soda, whether she should read to him, and about how he is going to die. Harry thinks about his life experiences a lot in this short story, about how he hasn t lived up to his potential as a writer because he has a tendency to marry rich women. Harry also goes in and out of consciousness while remembering his life adventures. His wife Helen does care for Harry and she does enjoy his writing, but she is obviously concerned about his health and his self pity irritates her. Harry mentions that Helen is really a good wife and does not keep him as a proud possession and how she doesn t neglect his true talent, which is writing. We also find out that Helen is a widow who was bored of the lovers before Harry and they married because of her enjoyment of his writing and how they have similar interests. At the end of the story Helen wakes up because of a loud hyena call, she takes a flashlight and shines it on Harry s bed which she moved into their tent earlier that night. She sees him under the mosquito net with his leg hanging off of the cot and notices that Harry is dead. The hyena cries again but Helen can t hear it over her heart breaking. This particular piece has not only the artist himself depicted, the children of the court scattered about, but also a mirror in the back showing the King and Queen standing as the painter is depicted to be painting their portrait. • 43. Comparing The Painting Bathers And Andre Derain s Blue Nude Wright 2 Henri Matisse and Andre Derain were a part of multiple art movements and they created very controversial artwork using the ideas of Primitivism. They re also the founders of Fauvism, that s why they wanted to incorporate color and structure into their art. They wanted the colors themselves to evoke emotion, without it having to relate back to the natural world. In Blue Nude and Bathers, they achieved this goal successfully. I think that Matisse s Blue Nude painting was inspiration for Derain s painting Bathers. They both depict naked women lying outside, however Blue Nude was painted first. After analyzing these two pieces, I ve concluded that Henri Matisse s Blue Nude painting (1907) Andre Derain s painting Bathers (1908) were both influential representations of the primitive ideas prevalent at the time through their use of overt sexuality their imitation of African masks. Both of these paintings display the freedom of sexuality. Blue Nude even has a sexual title. The woman is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They both want the viewer to focus more on the colors, lines, and brush strokes, instead of the image itself. They both wanted their work to speak for itself and it did. Ultimately, Bathers was favored more than Blue Nude. I think that they re both conversation pieces and are explicit paintings, but the audiences at that time were more upset about them. The flatness of Bathers is quite interesting. Because it s hard to tell where the light source is coming from, or if there even is a light source. While Blue Nude makes it easier for the viewer to see that the light source is coming from the left side. Both paintings utilize blue paint, but Blue Nude uses it more harshly than Bathers. Blue Nude has the blue paint surrounding the nude lady while Bathers has the blue paint surrounding only a few ladies. I think that Derain s Bathers wanted to somewhat imitate Matisse s Blue Nude in a very creative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Mesopotamia Facts Mesopotamia, the land between two rivers, was one of the world s first civilizations. The most memorable facts about Mesopotamia include that Sumer was the first Mesopotamian civilization where the first written language,Cuneiform, and Hammurabi s Code, first code of law to be documented, were established. I recently studied this civilization in another course, so facts such as the civilization being known as the Fertile Crescent because of its geographical advantage and that many Mesopotamian civilizations were polytheistic were already part of my knowledge. I didn t, however, know that Hebrews, the first monotheists, originated near Sumer. I am curious to research about Hebrews and find out how long it was until other monotheists emerged. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An already known fact about the Egyptian civilization that was their elaborate burials. They were very architecturally advanced and constructed the pyramids and other complex tombs for the Pharos. The final ancient civilization I read about was the Indus River Valley civilization. This included ancient India, China, and the Americas. India was developed during the Bronze Age and was very advanced because their cities were planned out in a grid format and even had plumbing systems. Their social order is what surprised me the most because there was a group outside of the order, the untouchables, you couldn t move up a class until the next life, and the ultimate goal was nirvana, the union of Atman with Brahman. China established cultural diffusion with the initiation of the Silk Road . I also studied this civilization in a previous course and learned about the dynastic cycle and how dynasties can be overthrown because of the Mandate of Heaven. I lastly discovered that Olmecs in the Americas contributed to society by creating a calendar, building great pieces of architecture, and passing on their traditions to future generations to ...
