Apple In China Case Study Essay
1. Introduction
With the economic globalization, More and more multinational enterprises expanded their business
abroad by using different market entry strategy. As Lechner and Boli (2012) claimed that the world
economic trends and cycles of the past two decades have made it increasingly apparent that the
production and distribution of goods take place in complex global networks that tie together groups,
organizations, and regions. In this paper, we focus on the IT Industry which is more and more popular
in China, and then analyzed four giant IT guys: Apple, IBM, Dell and Samsung. They entered Chinese
market during the different period. Even though some of their businesses are similar, their growth path
and the strategies they used are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among these are competitive strategy, political and social ideology, institutional, and cultural barriers
that are difficult for Western firms to overcome. (Yaprak, 2012).
In sum, the key to effective entry into emerging markets appears to lie in overcoming both the soft
entry barriers through advancing managerial understanding of the institutional contexts of these
markets, and surmounting the hard entry barriers, both structural, such as cost, capital, and product
differentiation advantages established by the incumbents, and strategic, such as those that are
purposefully erected by the incumbents. (Yaprak, 2012).

How Did Isaac Newton Contribute To The Creation Of Atomic...
Many different scientists contributed to the atomic theory known today. Every single one of them
played an important role in creating the atomic theory known today. Around 400 BCE Leucippus, the
scientist who originally came up with the atomic theory, began to lay a foundation for the theory
known today. Then, Democritus adopted the ideas of Leucippus , his mentor. Democritus soon
developed the idea of an atom. Democritus believed everything was made up tiny particles of matter,
he called these particles atoms. He chose this name because, in Greek, atom means indivisible. After
Democritus, Isaac Newton was the next scientist to contribute to the atomic theory. Isaac Newton

His work helped to contribute to the modern understanding of the atomic theory. Thus, at the points A
B C and D the electron would be subjected to maximum repulsive and attractive forces while the
positions a b and c would be stable But once disturbed from one of the latter positions the electron
would oscillate for a while and finally shift over into a new position of equilibrium At the distance OE
the curve representing the force exerted on the electron would become practically the same as that
corresponding to Coulomb s law Such a law of force might thus explain radiation phenomena and
perhaps the raison d etre of the constant h in the quantum theory. In 1905 Albert Einstein was the next
scientist to contribute to the atomic theory findings. His work on the theory of relativity became the
basis of nuclear energy. In 1909 came the following important discovery, the discovery of the nucleus.
Ernest Rutherford started to form an idea of the structure of an atom. Rutherford used the scattering of
alpha particles when shot through gold foil to discover the structure of an atom, he called this
experiment the gold foil experiment. Rutherford also decided to call Thompson s + particles protons.

Compare And Contrast Baroque And Baroque Music
Romantic and Baroque Music: Two Different Styles Music has been categorized over time in different
periods, each of which have their own characteristics, composers and music style. Two of those
important periods were baroque and romantic, which had left an important musical legacy though
history. The baroque was the period from about 1600 to 1750. It was called one of the best periods of
the music history, because there was a huge change from the style of composition from antique and
renaissance music which achieved great expectations about this music. Furthermore, Baroque music
was written by great composers such as Bach, Handel, Rameau and Vivaldi who were the most
representative composers of the period. In addition, Baroque music was characterized ... Show more

First, in the baroque period vocal and instrumental music had the same importance, this allowed that
the composers had a wide range in composition types. Some composers chosen more vocally style and
others preferred the instrumental style, which generated an amount of balance in composition during
this period. In addition, instruments were created with specific features to perform the baroque music,
they presented a sound and form characteristic, they were built to sound full and rich, but in small type
sized, mainly strings instruments. The bow and the technique to play this kind of music required a
careful and distinct method which caused that its texture and timbre were unique and special for that
era. The most representative instruments of baroque period were organ and harpsichord, however, in
most of the compositions of this period strings, woodwinds and brass instruments were also used by
the compositors, and these instruments were important for the baroque orchestra. Some instruments
used in the baroque period were: violin, viola da gamba, lute, violoncello, oboe, bassoon and trumpet.
Moreover, baroque orchestra was characterized as small number of instrumentalists, and it was form
mainly by strings instruments with a few woodwinds and brass, which gave the colorful contrast in the
orchestra, this was called chamber orchestra. On

The History, Theology, Ritual/Liturgy, Pastoral Issues of
Confirmation as a Sacrament
Sacraments are actions, and they function as rituals: they repeat gestures and words that are
meaningful to those who perceive them. Sacraments affect more than the thoughts and feelings of
participants because they have to be understood psychologically and theologically.
There are seven sacraments in Catholicism: Baptism, Confirmation, Marriage, The Eucharist,
Penance, Anointing the Sick and Holy Orders. People learn and remember and they remember from
practice of prayer and of the involvement and preparation of the sacraments. (Martos 2009). These ...

Baptism is very important, in the East, it would be very difficult for a bishop to give every baptism;
the priest performs the confirmation using the chrism consecrated by the Bishop.
In the West, there is a separation of time between Baptism and Confirmation. Bishops give
confirmation after Baptism and only when a child reaches the age of reason. In the West, The desire to
reserve the completion of Baptism to the Bishop caused a separation between the two sacraments. He
can do so only with the approval of the Bishop.
From 1291 1292, the Roman Church conducted Confirmation by a double anointing with sacred oil
after Baptism. The first anointing new person on coming out of the baptismal bath performed by
priest, then completed by second appointing on the forehead by newly baptized by the Bishop. In
addition, Easter in Church gave greater emphasis on the unity of Confirmation as a Christian
initiation. Latin Church clearly expresses the communion of the new Christian with Bishop as
guarantor and servant of the unity, catholicity and apostolicity of the Church and establishes
connection with the apostolic origins of Christ s Church.
By 1293, Confirmation as a spiritual seal (receiving the mark of the Holy Spirit) with the use chrism

Summary Of Bread Givers By Anzia Yezierska
In the novel Bread Givers by Anzia Yezierska the Smolinsky family immigrate to America for a better
life. The Smolinsky sisters are expected to work really long hours and bring in their wages to help pay
for food, and house wages while the father, Reb Smolinsky, stays home and studies the Holy Torah
instead of working and supporting his family. Throughout the book, Reb Smolinsky s goal is to marry
off his daughters to an ideal man so they can give him money to thank them for all he has done for
them and he even calls himself the Matchmaker. According to the Reb s beliefs, women are expected
to cook, clean, and take care of their husbands while the husband are the Bread Givers who provides

However, while all of the Smolinsky daughters fall in love with a man, the father disagrees with all of
their choices and does not let them marry causing sadness in each of the daughters lives. The father
chooses a man for his older daughter and forces them to marry and throughout the book, Reb
Smolinsky gives preachings to his children about God, and what women are supposed to do for their
man. Reb is culturally acclimated throughout this book because even though he has been accepted in
the society and has been part of it for a long time, he does not stop practicing his religious beliefs and
keeps on studying the Holy Torah and continues to give preachings to his family. Although he marries
off most of his daughters to the man of his choice, Reb Smolinsky fails to fully achieve his goal
because his youngest daughter Sara, who is also the protagonist, decides to chose her own path in life
and refuses to marry the man of her father s choice. This causes a father daughter conflict which leads
to Reb disowning Sara. As the two family members argue, Reb says How came you ever to be my

How Is Arthur Dimmesdale Selfish
In the event of any natural disaster, the outcome of the unforeseen predicament is impossible to
predict. When faced with this situation, a parent s first instinct is to protect their children. However,
the parent s fear could gain control, preventing an escape from the storm. When given the choice to be
conquered by his version of mother nature or abandon the storm completely, Dimmesdale failed to
escape due to his cowardice features. Although he eventually confessed to his sin, Nathaniel
Hawthorne s character, Arthur Dimmesdale, proved to be weak through denying his responsibilities,
causing him, and all those involved, to endure his consequences. Being truthful is often more of a
challenge than lying, as for Dimmesdale, both the truth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Arthur Dimmesdale s first sign of selfishness appeared just as the novel began. As Hester Prynne
stood on the scaffold in the first scene, Dimmesdale could have confessed the truth to the whole town
then, but chose not to. Dimmesdale s self centeredness allowed him to stare straight into Hester s eyes
during her punishment and remain quiet, even though he should have been up there accepting the
punishment as well. Dimmesdale displayed another heartless act in the Governor s garden. As Hester
plead for her rights to keep Pearl, Dimmesdale showed no sympathy to confess the truth. The fact that
he stood there, seeing, hearing Hester s pain and the struggle she had raising Pearl on her own, and
chose to stay hidden in his lie, shows the true selfishness that he withholds in his heart. Hawthorne
controlled Dimmesdale s actions to be egoistical in order to, once again, emulate all of humanity in
one character. Humanity s greatest weakness, in Hawthorne s eyes, was selfishness. A society in which
everyone has only an interest in their own well being is not a society Hawthorne desired to

Online Shopping Advantages
Advantages of Online Shopping
Shopping has changed a lot in the past few decades. Globalization has ensured we have more choice
available you can buy Indian food in Canada or sing Japanese tunes in the UK. But it s not just that we
are able to shop more goods, we also shop differently. Long gone are the days when we walked into a
store to pick our goods. Nowadays, we take our laptops or smartphones and browse the internet,
shopping for the things we want with a few clicks of a button.
But is shopping online just the new normal we have to accept? Could it actually be a beneficial way of
shopping? Let s consider the advantages of online shopping.
We have more variety
As mentioned, variety has increased in recent decades thanks to globalization. But the true enabler is
the internet. Brick and mortar stores would never be able to house so many foreign goods all over the
world the easiest way is to have an online store and to then utilize the fast global shipping channels.
The variety of online stores is not confined with space you can have hundreds of products from the
same brand or from hundreds of different brands all under the same roof. If you want Asian skin care
products, then you can find them.
Variety isn t just about the availability of different brands, products or services. You can even make
more conscious decisions in terms of how you shop. If you want to find organic food or makeup, the
Internet has made it easy for you to do so. Even if you don t want

An Enrolled Agent (EA) is a tax professional authorized by the U.S. Government to represent
taxpayers in matters concerning the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). EAs must pass an examination
demonstrating ability or have sufficient experience as an IRS employee, as well as passing a

hibernation pod should matter to the audience. I will use statistics portrayed by tables and figures and
use images to explain my findings.
With my poster, I will mainly use images and tables. Like my report and final presentation, I will
discuss and compare the hibernation pod in the film and reality. I will use minimal writing and provide
key words in the form of bullet points to convey my findings.

Does The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas And How Does It...
One of the most prevalent unanswered questions that readers have about The Ones Who Walk Away
from Omelas is where is the place that those who walk away are going to (Scoville 2016). In the story,
the narrator themselves cannot even perceive this place. They leave Omelas, they walk ahead into the
darkness, and they do not come back. The place they go towards is a place even less imaginable to
most of us than the city of happiness. I cannot describe it at all. It is possible that it does not exist. But
they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas (LeGuin 8). LeGuin
states that those who leave the town of Omelas walk ahead into the darkness (8), which further
conveys how unfathomable this unknown place is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is so thin there are no calves to its legs; its belly protrudes; it lives on a half bowl of corn meal and
grease a day. It is naked. Its buttocks and thighs are a mass of festered sores, as it sits in its own
excrement continually. They all know it is there, all the people of Omelas (LeGuin 7). It is revealed to
readers that all of the citizens of Omelas know of this child being stored in a murky dirty cellar. Due to
this fact and how the people of Omelas do nothing to help the child verifies the existence of evil in the
new story world the narrator has crafted (Posella 3). Additionally, this is an unmistakable act of evil
and selfishness made by the people of Omelas to let such a horrid event occur, the suffering of one
child for the happiness of all, which is the devil s bargain in this story (Scoville 2016). Thus, the main
inquiry concerning this is why must the town of Omelas be built this way. One reason that the narrator
abandons an ideal perfect story world and goes into one full of evil instead is due to the notion that
evil is interesting to individuals and that readers want to hear about such brutality like a child be
inhumanely treated (Scoville 2016). However, this idea is overly generalized and does not apply to
everyone (Posella 3). Another reason may be that, in relation to real life, even though the world may
seem perfect, people still suffer. While the majority are aware of this, they still continue on with their
lives as long as they

The Lower House Analysis
The United States Congress comprise two houses, one of them is the lower house known as the House
of Representatives, the upper house known as the Senate. These two chambers made up the legislative
branch due to the agreement of the bicameral legislature resulted from the Great Compromise in 1787.
The House represents the population, while the Senates are appointed by the Congress. Both started
new session on January 6, 2015. However, they have different majority leader; Kevin McCarthy was
the leader of the House of Representatives and Mitch McConnell was the leader of the Senate. People
who work for the lower house have to be fast because the representatives only have two year term. For
the upper house, people can work slower because of six year term; so the Senate can contemplate the
long term effects of laws. Two houses handle different responsibilities. The House of Representatives

Ponce De Leon Biography
Juan Ponce De Leon was a Spanish explorer. In addition to being an explorer, he was also a soldier,
governor, and farmer. Ponce De Leon s exact date of birth is not known. Many believe he was born
around 1460 to 1474 in Santervas De Campos, Spain. He died in July, 1521, in Havana, Cuba. He died
after he was shot by a poisoned arrow from the Indians who were trying to protect their land. Like
most explorers, Ponce De Leon explored for the fame and fortune. He needed a job because he worked
as a squire for a knight until the war ended. After the war ended around 1492, there was not a job for
him so he had to find something else to do. Ponce De Leon also became an explorer because he wasn t
the oldest child in his family. This meant he wouldn t inherit wealth or land when his parents died.
Ponce De Leon had to go out and find a way to earn a living. Ponce De Leon was one of about 1200
men who went with Christopher Columbus on his second voyage to Hispaniola in 1493. Columbus
had left on his first voyage to search for a new trade route to Asia and ended up discovering new land.
Trading for jewels, spices and silks was very important to Spain and a new trade route was needed.
When Columbus returned to Spain, he told everyone about the new world he had discovered.
Columbus planned a second voyage to the new land and had a lot of people interested in going with
him to search for riches. Ponce De Leon was one of them. They had seventeen ships on the second

Adrienne Rich Diving Into The Wreck Analysis
Descent through Evolution
Life is a long roller coaster of emotions that may be too fast and dangerous for some people to enjoy.
In this world there are depressed individuals who hide their problems underneath a big enough smile
that people never notice how stressed and lonely they are. Lack of motivational methods to cope with
the problem leads to the conflict consuming the person. In the poem Diving into the Wreck , author
Adrienne Rich tells a story of an illustrious descent into an ocean that revealed and discovered crucial
knowledge of her past. Rich addresses her problems by describing the tools needed to exhibit her point
of view as she descends into a transformation. Rich takes us as readers through her rigorous journey of
adversity and at the end her transformation is complete into a new creature. She uses the literal and
metaphorical meanings throughout and as a result her imagination ultimately finds a safe haven of
freedom. Rich engages in exploration and transformation through her illustrious dialogue to cope with
her self identification problems.
Rich illustrates her self exploration through detailed remarks about a metaphorical wreck to highlight
much bigger issues other readers may relate to. Rich goes through that challenge by emplaying a
timeline of preparation leading to her descent and eventual transformation. As a result we as readers
go through her voyage while she explains the colors she feels with a tone shift of her words as the
destination is

The Sane Man In The Black Cat By Edgar Allan Poe
In the opening paragraph of Edgar Allan Poe s short story The Black Cat he assures the reader first
and foremost that he is a sane man insisting that he is not mad, however this is not something that a so
called sane man should have to emphasis. He instead however gives leeway into the madness that he
gets driven into through his own external and internal demons surrounding him. We know that from a
young age the narrator has a great deal of passion for animals spending most of his childhood years
caring for them and them alone. This tells us that as a child our narrator didn t have much social
companionship from other human beings but instead sought refuge in his animal friends. The time in

sense of docility and tender heartedness, eventually all his sense of remorse and humility turn into
what he calls Perverseness (Poe 2522). For a person to be perverse they no longer care about the sense
of what is right and wrong, they seek to do only what is contrary to right or good behaviours. It is with
his new sense of perverseness that our narrator says Who has not a hundred times, found himself

Political Parties And The Media s Influence On Politics
Linkage institutions are a way of linking the American people to the government and political process,
and often influence the policy agenda. A few examples of linkage institutions are political parties and
the media. Political parties have always been a part of the U.S. government since the federalists and
antifederalists, and have since majorly evolved into what we now see as the Democratic and
Republican parties. The media has always been a major influence on politics from the time of basic
newspapers to the modern platforms of television and social media. (insert thesis)

A Raisin in the Sun
Introduction
The movie A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry is about an African American family who

members are anticipating doing something different with the money; in the meantime mama has plans
to buy a house for the family. The Younger family faces economic hardships and racial discrimination
during their struggles to gain middle class acceptance. The movie A Raisin in the Sun demonstrates
the importance of family values, personal dreams, and racial discrimination. In the 1961 play, A Raisin
in the Sun, Lorraine Hansberry uses the Younger family to show individuals whom compete to reach

A Research Study On Pharmaceutical Compounds
Continuous growth in population of the world has led to rapid increase in demand and competition for
water. Also, Canada is one of the highest water users per capita in the world(Government of Canada).
Therefore, removal of contaminates from water that threat the quality and integrity of water resources
is an important issue and demands vast researches to be conducted in this field.
Pharmaceutical compounds, as one of the pollutants of water resources, are continuously emerging
aquatic environment due to their extensive usage in human and veterinary medicines and this has
become a scientific and social concern. Moreover, these compounds are only partially removed in
waste water treatment plants (WWTPs); hence are entered to the treated outlet effluents of these
systems (Lydia M. Barrett 2015, Jia, Y 2012). Antibiotics are one of the most important groups of
pharmaceutical compounds and are extensively used for either prevention or treatment of disease (Hao
Chen 2011). Occurrence of antibiotics in aquatic environment causes the development of antibacterial
resistance bacteria and genes(Lydia M. Barrett 2015) that causes the normally effective antibiotics in
use to not work well or fail completely(Vera Homem,2011). For instance, the Canadian Intensive Care
Unit (CAN_ICU) conducted a survey on the prevalence of antibiotic resistant bacteria in intensive
care units (ICUs) in 19 hospitals over the Canada. Their research revealed that about 20% of overall

My Dream Career
The rise in numbers for doctors are growing and many people don t understand all the aspect that it
takes to even be considered to become a doctor. The years of education that are required depend on
what someone would like to specialize in. Sadly though, college and medical school both cost a lot
and takes time away from planning further along. Although the path to this career is hard, but it allows
them to have an easy lifestyle. My dream career to become a physician for it requires motivation, high
level of education, and a stable mentality. These qualities are what I need to ensure I achieve the type
of lifestyle I hope to achieve by the end.
The lifestyle of a phyisican is very stable since the pay for the job is high, but it depends a lot on what
area someone wants to specialize in. In the Omaha, Nebraska, the annual base salary that the average
Physician in Neurology receives is between $200,419 $269,254. (Salary.com). The range is based on a
percentile of physicians in the area as the medium of pay is $229,324 (Salary.com). However, there
are many factors that affect the base salary like location and corporation minus all the benefits and
bonus a physician receives over the time they work. Yet the benefits themselves are usually the
remaining 23.5% of the 76.5% that their core compensation comes from. These benefits (healthcare,
Time Off, etc.) plus their base totals their full compensation to $309,081 for annual pay. (Salary.com).

Boron On The Periodic Table
Boron Boron is one of 118 elements on the Periodic Table and is in everyday life. Boron has a lot of
facts to learn about such as, Who found or created this element? or, What uses do this element have? .
Out of all the elements, Boron is an interesting element that stands out from others because it is a
powder. This element is also a necessary ingredient that is used in soap. From all the elements on the
periodic table, Boron is a unique element in a lot of ways such as the fact that Boron is a metalloid;
metalloids are not very common in the periodic table. In this essay, Boron is in a number of questions
that will be answered. Boron is an unquestionably interesting element.
First of all, the name of this element is Boron. Its symbol is just, B . Boron is in group 13 of the

also a Period 2 element. Boron is a solid. It also has 2 energy shells. Boron s atomic number is 5 and

Boron is a powder. There are not many elements on the Periodic Table that are a powder. So, that

The United Kingdom Needs And The Clear Separation Of Powers
One of the three main theories that work as basis of the organisation of the United Kingdom is the
Doctrine of separation of powers, such as Parliament sovereignty and the rule of law. This essay is
going to critically discuss whether the United Kingdom needs and have the clear separation of powers.
There are three important powers that work as instruments for organisation of any state and are carried
by Governments. This can be stated, There are three elements in each constitution... first, the
deliberative, which discusses everything of common importance; second the officials; and third, the
judicial element. said Aristotle , the founder of theory of the doctrine. Contemporary those powers are
called as the legislature, the executive and the judiciary.
The Legislature power is a power that makes law for regulation of peoples and private organisations
conduct, also structure and power of public authorities which is ran by the Parliament. This includes
bodies such as House of Lords, House of Commons and the Queen. The Executive power is the
administrative branch of government that implements the law, which are made by legislators. Bodies
that regulate this are the Queen, Prime Minister, other Ministers, Civil service, police and armed
forces. Introduction of the legislation, controlling security and public services, supporting prosperity
and conducting the external relation of the state are the roles of the executive power. The Judiciary is

Why Did You Choose For Pursue A Career For The Television...
This past summer, when I had time to investigate upcoming shows for this season, I happened upon a
show that captured my attention Time After Time. At that point, not much was written about it, but I
discovered that one of the directors and executive producers was a man by the name of Marcos Siega.
He quickly agreed to an interview (they were in the throes of filming at that point). Due to my crazy
schedule, I had to postpone the posting of this fantastic piece until now, but seeing how the premiere
of his new show is tonight (March 5th), it seems like a perfect time to understand a bit more about one

Since you weren t able to go to film school, were you just learning on the job or were people

I would say it was a little bit of everything. I became a production assistant here in New York and
started working on any production that I could. It was what I wanted to do. When I started directing
music videos, you go out and surround yourself with like minded people. So I learned a lot by just
doing. I didn t have any formal training, but when you re doing it and you re figuring it out on your
own, I think in some ways, you learn faster and you learn more cause you re forced into it. I have done
all sorts of things. I have been a cinematographer, an editor, and a producer. I got my hands dirty with
having to do a little bit of everything on the music videos I was directing cause they were not big
budgets. I couldn t hire a ton of people to do the work. So that was my learning experience. I also had
a real love for theater, and as a director, you lean into the visuals of directing. There are directors who
are known as actor s directors, and I think I fall somewhere in between cause I really love storytelling
and I had a real appreciation for filmmakers and directors who could adapt something to the stage and
make you feel something by watching something in person without artificially doing it and without all
the gloss of what I was doing in the music video world.

It was raining heavily and Senna was overjoyed. He qualified 13th on the grid, and during the race, he
slowly came up to second place, right behind the French prodigy, Alain Prost. On lap 32, the story

Daniel Gilbert Analysis
Something Socrates said about happiness was similar to that of Daniel Gilbert. Socrates believed that
in order to be happy and live a good life, you need to live a life of contemplation and self evaluation.
He worded it as developing the soul, which basically means work on yourself and just be able to
reflect, and develop your ideas. I believe this is similar to Gilbert because they both understood the
importance of self reflection in leading you to happiness. For Gilbert, reflecting on what you ve
experienced and talking to other people will help you determine your own definition of what makes
you happy. This is similar to gilbert because they both involve self reflection to develop ideas. A
difference between the two however, is that Daniel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For Epictetus this applies to life in general, things like family deaths, deaths of loved ones, etc. Dan
Ariely s form of uncontrollable destiny is the inability to control actions you make in the future. This
means not being able to control your desire to snooze, your desire to procrastinate, and your desire to
eat something really unhealthy. Basically things like new year s resolutions are all pointless because
our future selves will never actually deal with what we planned. The difference between these two are
that Ariely s type is actually controllable, contrary to what I just said. Controllable in the sense that
you have to counteract the destiny with another destiny. For example, if you know for sure that you
are going to snooze the next morning, you create an alarm clock that is super loud and you put it in
another room. This makes it so your future self has no choice but to get up and go get the alarm clock.
Whereas Epictetus s type of destiny is truly uncontrollable. The only way to find happiness through
this type of destiny is to mold your desires and expectations to the reality of your situation. This
means having things like realistic goals and realistic relationships. So these two are both aware of
having to deal with uncontrollable situations. Dan Ariely is a living example since he was a burn
victim that managed to overcome his pain and is able to inspire others from the

Junction 48 Reflection Paper
Event Reflection
Summary of the event
A narrative film, Junction 48, was screened at the Little Theater in Rochester on September 17th in
2017. This event was one of the programs of the Witness Palestine Film Festival sponsored by
Christian Witnessing for Palestine. After the screening, the audience had a chance to ask questions of
the director, Udi Aloni, through Skype.
Junction 48 is a 2016 film directed by Aloni, an Israeli and American filmmaker. This film describes
young Israeli Arab musicians struggle against oppression from Israeli authority and nationalists and
problems within Palestinian communities such as drug deals and honor crimes. The leading actor is

A large number of Arabs were shot to death, including civilians, by Israeli soldiers (Shavit, 2013). In
July 1948, Prime Minister David Ben Gurion required dispossession of all the Palestinians in Lydda
(Shavit, 2013). About 19,000 of the 20,000 Palestinian inhabitants were forced to migrate (Munayyer,
2012). Now Lydda is called Lod, and about 25 percent of the residents are Arabs (Martin, 2013). This
Jewish Arab mixed city has poor public safety (Martin, 2013).
The Arab Israeli conflict displaced 750,000 Palestinians, and they are still not allowed to return to
their home (AFSC, n.d.) . About 1.6 million Israeli Arabs (Abdalla, 2012), in Lod, have citizenships of
Israel, but they don t have the equal rights to Jewish people. (BBC, 2009).
Analysis of the Film
This chapter analyzes Junction 48 in terms of two points: whether Israeli Arabs can be included in a
common type of force migrants, and whether culture can be the reason for refugees to return.
First, before considering the case of Israeli Arabs, those typical types of forced migrants should be
clarified; refugees are those who fled their country of origin and because they fear being persecuted
for a good reason such as race and religion; asylum seekers are those who have made a journey abroad
to get a refugee status but whose application has not adopted; internally displaced persons (IDPs) are
those who have been compelled to leave their homes with other residents

Comparing The Metaphors Of London By William Blake And...
During the 18th century, London was not charming, clean, and astounding, at least that s what William
Blake thought. William Blake and William Wordsworth, poets of the romantic period, wrote poems
about London. These two poets expressed how they felt about London about how it was at the time.
Blake and Wordsworth create an image in a reader s mind of how they saw London, Blake s image
being dim and Wordsworth s image is brighter. Blake viewed London as an awful place, and
Wordsworth viewed London as a cheerful place. Blake and Wordsworth used metaphors, a setting, and

Both poets describe what they see and hear in London. Blakes setting is more depressing and gloomy,

that says London is great, beautiful, clean, calm, quiet, and dazzling. A nice morning, standing on the
bridge looking out and seeing a peaceful town asleep. Green swaying grass and the smooth, warm sun
on a face as another day a comes. Another example is if Wordsworth was painting what he saw. He

The Techniques Used On Brazilian Athletes At The 2004...
On the biggest stages, athletes cannot avoid feeling some stress and anxiety. Even some of the greats
in their sport still struggle with nerves. For instance, Lionel Messi is known to vomit on occasion
before or during games, as he did in the 2014 World Cup final against Germany. A majority of
successful athletes have had their resilience and composure cited as reasons for their victories, and
certainly, one cannot overlook an athlete who goes out there and executes under immense pressure
like a gymnast executing a flawless routine on the balance beam. On the flip side, many an athlete has
had hopes and dreams dashed by not being able to handle the pressure and collapsing down the
stretch. So how does sport psychology help to limit anxiety and increase performance? Well, there are
a handful of techniques and interventions that can be used, and an article (Samulski Lopes, 2008) was
written on some of the techniques used on Brazilian athletes at the 2004 Olympic games in Athens.
There were a total of 10 sport psychologists available for the 242 Brazilian athletes. Some of the
sports in which the athletes were counseled included judo, tae kwon do, wrestling, swimming, diving,
synchronized swimming, sailing, triathlon, mountain biking, track and field, marathon, table tennis,
and shooting. This is not a comprehensive list, but it shows a wide variety of settings that anxiety
reduction techniques can be applied in. Some of the specific intervention strategies used were deep

Tragic Heroism in Shakespeare s Antony And Cleopatra Essay
In the tragedy Antony and Cleopatra , Shakespeare presents our protagonist Mark Antony as a tragic
hero. He does this by using a number of dramatically effective methods, including language, staging
techniques and structure. Aristotle defines a tragic hero as a character of noble stature who has a tragic
flaw (usually hubris which is over confidence/arrogance) and suffers a downfall that is partially their
fault but also due to factors beyond their control. The downfall they suffer exceeds the crime but the
tragic hero gains some sort of self awareness.
Before the audience meets Antony, Shakespeare presents us with two soldiers discussing Antony s
current debauched life. This is dramatically effective staging because they are acting ... Show more

Another soldier calls him the god of Jupiter which elevates Antony s status to that of a great leader,
because Jupiter was the leader amongst all the other gods. Philo compares him to Mars, the god of
war, which shows elevates his stature to be one of equal rank with a god. Caesar recalls Antony s
excellent soldiership and virtus qualities. Virtus was the Roman ideal of male force and energy:
military prowess coupled with devotion to one s honour and fame. Antony had to drink/the stale of
horses and eat strange flesh and the bark of trees in order to stay alive and he was borne so like a
soldier that thy cheek...lanked not. These striking images paint an unfathomable scene of heroic
endurance which the audience respects and admires.
The audience is privy to a private conversation in Caesar s home between Caesar and Lepidus, who
were the other two thirds of the triple pillar of the world the triumvirate. The triumvirate were a
powerful political and military force; they ruled the Roman Empire after the murder of Julius Caesar.
During this conversation, they discuss Antony s debauched life and his former greatness in Caesar s
home where Caesar feels free to express his opinions honestly and he declares that Antony is a man
who is abstract of all faults and someone who would give a kingdom for mirth. This shows us how far
he has fallen in Caesar s eyes as his tone would be scathing and I imagine he would be pacing as he
ranted about Antony

understanding about tattoos we must go back and trace how it all began. From the tools, they used to

Congress Is The Most Powerful Group Of Politicians Within...
The United States congress is the most powerful group of politicians within the Governmental system
under the United States Constitution. Congress is the glue that holds the United States together
upholding its roles and responsibilities detailed in the Constitution on a daily basis. Which so much
power Congress members are held in high regard for what they do, Congress main responsibly stems
from making laws to declaring war. With all this power and responsibility you would assume that
there would be no room for congress to make mistakes or even be dysfunctional. Due to high egos and
self centered politicians, congress has become very dysfunctional, and heavy handed over the years. As
well as the shortcuts Congress members have maneuvered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another major issues is party dominance in each house and its relation to the President. Congress
members are elected individually and not by party. For example, If many Democratic s win seats in
the Senate, then the Senate is controlled by the Democrats and Vice Versa for the Republicans.
However, the issue is deeper than just one House being controlled by one specific party. Imagine a
Democratic Controlled Senate and a Republican controlled House of Representatives all under a
Democratic President. This is precisely the issue that President Barack Obama has been faced with
over the past 8 years, but he had to deal with both chambers being Republican Controlled. This made
his job a whole lot harder, he was constantly faced with having to fight Congress to pass bills and laws
under which he oversaw legislature. To this day Congress continues to beat him down and is
determined have him as merely a statistic by not passing his ObamaCare Act. Congress can also be
seen as dysfunctional due to the constitution. When the constitution was drafted it was to govern the
country for that period of time, to this day some of the same rules of the constitution are being
enforced many consists of the procedures in which congress functions. These procedures sometimes
make it difficult to pass laws through the House and Senate as they cause a blockage in a modern
system. But in order to modify it, majority of the members have to be in agreement of the amendment.

The Country Of Nicaragua And The Center Of Central America
The country of Nicaragua, located in the center of Central America, is one the poorest nations in Latin
America. Nicaragua s citizens are primarily mestizo who account for almost 70% of the population.
With a population of nearly six million, 58.8% of Nicaraguans live in urban areas, with nearly 2% of
citizens migrating from rural areas to the cities in search of jobs and better welfare. However, internal
migration to rural areas also exist seasonally for agricultural labor. Due to the current economic
standing of the nation, Nicaragua s current population growth rests at 1%, while losing 3 out of 1,000
citizens due to emigration. While the nation has seen small growth in its GDP at a 4.5% growth rate,
many Nicaraguans continue to migrate out of the nation. In 2009, is was estimated that 42.5% of
Nicaraguans lived below the poverty line, with the lowest 10% of citizens sharing 1.4% in household
income. In 2008, it was recorded that underemployment rate was at 46.5% (CIA Factbook). When
looking at the statistics and numbers for this nation, it is easy to understand the reasoning for many
Nicaraguans emigrating out of their country. With such a high percentage of Nicaraguans living under
the poverty line, many of them have chosen to leave the country. A majority Central American
immigrants decide to migrate outside of the region. In a 2006 article by Mahler and Ugrina, they noted
that [e]xtraregional migration claimed 93 percent of all emigrants by 1990...with a notable

How Does Dave Barry Use Satire In Mutant Fleas Terrorize...
Who would have thought tax plans were so interesting? No one does, but hey, let s talk about why
Dave Barry s short story, Mutant Fleas Terrorize Midwest . In this short story, it consists of sarcasm,
satire, and hyperbole along with other types of humor to create a masterpiece, which is this story. This
whole story is mockingly making fun of the people who will believe anything that s posted on the
internet. So, in this story, by Dave Barry, uses the humorous elements of satire, hyperbole, and comic
characters, to make a great story about a reporter investigating if mutant fleas are fact or fiction.
One of the more common elements of humor Dave used is satire which creates the effect of thinking
about the follies of the world. Barry uses satire to express his thinking without offending anybody,
such as this text, Send vice president Bush out there to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this text that was chosen, ..small dogs. There are these two in particular that live near me, both
about the size of the wads of cotton they put in aspirin bottles to keep you from getting at the aspirin.
not only hyperbole but the irony is also included to make an incredible humorous effect. This is
hyperbole since no dog is the size of a piece of cotton but the joke really shines with its unintentional
ironic meaning. The cotton is put in the bottle to protect the pills but the cotton will cause more
headaches which is kind of pointless to get aspirins. But, the hyperbole and irony aren t really a good
joke but if the reader keeps thinking about this text, it will keep getting funnier imagining small dogs
in pill bottles. Even though this short text isn t very funny, it s the thought that counts unless the
person has a headache, then they should go buy some aspirins. All in all, hyperbole may not be funny
as other elements of humor but the next element is used in everyday

Emily Dickinson Mood
Emily Dickinson was a poet was a very solitary poet who wrote about topics such as death. She was
from Amherst, Massachusetts, and lived between 1830 and 1886. She began writing poetry when she
was a teenager, and dozens of her poems were published in her lifetime. Two of her most famous
poems I Heard a Fly Buzz and Because I Could not Stop for Death both reflect what it feels like to
experience a near death experience and dying itself. Both are lyrical poems, and have a matching
theme of acceptance, given the gentle tone of voice in the delivery of the lyrics in her poems. The
mood, tone, imagery, and language are all something that compare in the many poems written by
Emily Dickinson, but specifically these two written in 1862 and 1863. ... Show more content on

For example, in I Heard a Fly Buzz When I Died, she uses words such as The stillness in the room and
I heard a fly buzz help to give the reader some insight on what is happening as she is dying. The
description makes the audience feel as though there is actually a fly buzzing in the room, and helps to
also enhance the senses of sight and sound because it makes the reader feel like they can actually hear
a fly buzzing. The fly is set to represent death is it is flying around her because she is dying.
Additionally, the image of a dead body appears because when somebody dies and their body
decomposes, flies come around it. This symbolizes that Emily Dickinson is already dead as she is
writing the poem. In the second poem, Because I Could Not Stop for Death, she paints the image of a
person that is there with her by saying that He kindly stopped for me She also paints an image of The
Carriage held but just Ourselves and passing through her memories when she says We passed the
school... We passed the fields of Gazing Grain We passed the Setting Sun. Dickinson sets the image of
her traveling through her memories as she

The Civil Rights Achievements Of The Famous African...
This autobiographical analysis will define the civil rights achievements of the famous African
American actor, Canada Lee. Lee s background as a jockey, boxer, and a musician would set the stage
for a major acting career in theater and in Hollywood. More importantly, Lee would use his fame as an
actor to promote racial equality through the support of Hollywood magnates, such as Orson Wells, and
through the theatrical/literary guidance of Langston Hughes. Lee would be become known for his role
in Lifeboat (1944) by Alfred Hitchcock, but he would also get other roles in throughout this historical
period. These successes as an actor propelled Lee to the forefront of civil rights issues that were
becoming more of a problem during the 1930s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cast wore ballroom finery and the witches magic was turned into voodoo (Mordden 236). This
major breakthrough for lee was a crucial moment in his acting career, since he was catapulted into
fame through the support of Welles. More so Langston Hughes began to take notice of Lee s
burgeoning success, which eventually inspired Hughes to write to versions of his novels into theatrical
dramas. During this time, Lee and Hughes were denied financial support for the two plays, yet Lee
eventually went onto great stage success by performing in Richard Wright s theatrical drama of native
Son (1941). More so, Welles was, once again, the primary support for producing Native Son, which
provided a an even greater public platform for Lee s civil rights activism in the 1940s. Lee s theatrical
success would not only garner him critical acclaim as an actor, but he would also use this fame to
promote racial equality and justice for African Americans. During WWII, Lee would speak out against
racial division in the U.S. military, which segregated black soldiers from white soldiers (Biondi 10). In
this manner, Lee spoke throughout the country about the problem of segregation, which allowed him
to exploit his fame for the cause of African American civil rights: He felt honor bound to use his
success as a platform to fight for equal rights, for his people and for all people suffering social,
political, and economic injustices (Smith

  • 3. How Did Isaac Newton Contribute To The Creation Of Atomic... Many different scientists contributed to the atomic theory known today. Every single one of them played an important role in creating the atomic theory known today. Around 400 BCE Leucippus, the scientist who originally came up with the atomic theory, began to lay a foundation for the theory known today. Then, Democritus adopted the ideas of Leucippus , his mentor. Democritus soon developed the idea of an atom. Democritus believed everything was made up tiny particles of matter, he called these particles atoms. He chose this name because, in Greek, atom means indivisible. After Democritus, Isaac Newton was the next scientist to contribute to the atomic theory. Isaac Newton began to realize that atoms were constantly moving and were not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His work helped to contribute to the modern understanding of the atomic theory. Thus, at the points A B C and D the electron would be subjected to maximum repulsive and attractive forces while the positions a b and c would be stable But once disturbed from one of the latter positions the electron would oscillate for a while and finally shift over into a new position of equilibrium At the distance OE the curve representing the force exerted on the electron would become practically the same as that corresponding to Coulomb s law Such a law of force might thus explain radiation phenomena and perhaps the raison d etre of the constant h in the quantum theory. In 1905 Albert Einstein was the next scientist to contribute to the atomic theory findings. His work on the theory of relativity became the basis of nuclear energy. In 1909 came the following important discovery, the discovery of the nucleus. Ernest Rutherford started to form an idea of the structure of an atom. Rutherford used the scattering of alpha particles when shot through gold foil to discover the structure of an atom, he called this experiment the gold foil experiment. Rutherford also decided to call Thompson s + particles protons. P+ is another symbol that means ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sacraments affect more than the thoughts and feelings of participants because they have to be understood psychologically and theologically. Baptism is very important, in the East, it would be very difficult for a bishop to give every baptism; the priest performs the confirmation using the chrism consecrated by the Bishop. In the West, The desire to reserve the completion of Baptism to the Bishop caused a separation between the two sacraments. He can do so only with the approval of the Bishop. From 1291 1292, the Roman Church conducted Confirmation by a double anointing with sacred oil after Baptism. When given the choice to be conquered by his version of mother nature or abandon the storm completely, Dimmesdale failed to escape due to his cowardice features. Arthur Dimmesdale s first sign of selfishness appeared just as the novel began. As Hester Prynne stood on the scaffold in the first scene, Dimmesdale could have confessed the truth to the whole town then, but chose not to. Dimmesdale s self centeredness allowed him to stare straight into Hester s eyes during her punishment and remain quiet, even though he should have been up there accepting the punishment as well. Dimmesdale displayed another heartless act in the Governor s garden. As Hester plead for her rights to keep Pearl, Dimmesdale showed no sympathy to confess the truth. The fact that he stood there, seeing, hearing Hester s pain and the struggle she had raising Pearl on her own, and chose to stay hidden in his lie, shows the true selfishness that he withholds in his heart. Hawthorne controlled Dimmesdale s actions to be egoistical in order to, once again, emulate all of humanity in one character. Humanity s greatest weakness, in Hawthorne s eyes, was selfishness. One of the most prevalent unanswered questions that readers have about The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas is where is the place that those who walk away are going to (Scoville 2016). In the story, the narrator themselves cannot even perceive this place. They leave Omelas, they walk ahead into the darkness, and they do not come back. The place they go towards is a place even less imaginable to most of us than the city of happiness. I cannot describe it at all. It is possible that it does not exist. But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas (LeGuin 8). It is so thin there are no calves to its legs; its belly protrudes; it lives on a half bowl of corn meal and grease a day. It is naked. Its buttocks and thighs are a mass of festered sores, as it sits in its own excrement continually. They all know it is there, all the people of Omelas (LeGuin 7). It is revealed to readers that all of the citizens of Omelas know of this child being stored in a murky dirty cellar. Due to this fact and how the people of Omelas do nothing to help the child verifies the existence of evil in the new story world the narrator has crafted (Posella 3). Additionally, this is an unmistakable act of evil and selfishness made by the people of Omelas to let such a horrid event occur, the suffering of one child for the happiness of all, which is the devil s bargain in this story (Scoville 2016). Thus, the main inquiry concerning this is why must the town of Omelas be built this way. One reason that the narrator abandons an ideal perfect story world and goes into one full of evil instead is due to the notion that evil is interesting to individuals and that readers want to hear about such brutality like a child be inhumanely treated (Scoville 2016). However, this idea is overly generalized and does not apply to everyone (Posella 3). Another reason may be that, in relation to real life, even though the world may seem perfect, people still suffer. Socrates believed that in order to be happy and live a good life, you need to live a life of contemplation and self evaluation. I believe this is similar to Gilbert because they both understood the importance of self reflection in leading you to happiness. Basically things like new year s resolutions are all pointless because our future selves will never actually deal with what we planned. The difference between these two are that Ariely s type is actually controllable, contrary to what I just said. Controllable in the sense that you have to counteract the destiny with another destiny. • 35. Tragic Heroism in Shakespeare s Antony And Cleopatra Essay In the tragedy Antony and Cleopatra , Shakespeare presents our protagonist Mark Antony as a tragic hero. He does this by using a number of dramatically effective methods, including language, staging techniques and structure. Aristotle defines a tragic hero as a character of noble stature who has a tragic flaw (usually hubris which is over confidence/arrogance) and suffers a downfall that is partially their fault but also due to factors beyond their control. The downfall they suffer exceeds the crime but the tragic hero gains some sort of self awareness. Before the audience meets Antony, Shakespeare presents us with two soldiers discussing Antony s current debauched life. This is dramatically effective staging because they are acting ... Another soldier calls him the god of Jupiter which elevates Antony s status to that of a great leader, because Jupiter was the leader amongst all the other gods. Philo compares him to Mars, the god of war, which shows elevates his stature to be one of equal rank with a god. Caesar recalls Antony s excellent soldiership and virtus qualities. Virtus was the Roman ideal of male force and energy: military prowess coupled with devotion to one s honour and fame. Antony had to drink/the stale of horses and eat strange flesh and the bark of trees in order to stay alive and he was borne so like a soldier that thy cheek...lanked not. These striking images paint an unfathomable scene of heroic endurance which the audience respects and admires. The audience is privy to a private conversation in Caesar s home between Caesar and Lepidus, who were the other two thirds of the triple pillar of the world the triumvirate. The triumvirate were a powerful political and military force; they ruled the Roman Empire after the murder of Julius Caesar. During this conversation, they discuss Antony s debauched life and his former greatness in Caesar s home where Caesar feels free to express his opinions honestly and he declares that Antony is a man who is abstract of all faults and someone who would give a kingdom for mirth. This shows us how far he has fallen in Caesar s eyes as his tone would be scathing and I imagine he would be pacing as he ranted about Antony ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
