Night Exposes Much That Is Wrong With Human Nature In...
Night exposes much that is wrong with human nature and reveals little that is right . Discuss. Night by
Elie Wiesel is a non fiction novella based on true events of the Holocaust. Wiesel reflects on how the
ignorance of jews affected their time in the concentration camps. He also shines a light on how Elie s
relationship with his father Shlomo, reveals little that is right with human nature. Elie acknowledges
how the struggle of faith reveals to the viewer what is wrong with human nature. Night shows us how
the Jews were awakened by their own ignorance. From the beginning the jews chose to be ignorant
about the german soldiers entering their homes. They remained ignorant of Moche the Beetles stories.
Mrs. Schachter even tried multiple times to explain to them what type of dangers were coming. But
instead, nobody listened, and they were awakened by their own ignorance.Elie refers to the infants
being used as targets for the machine guns .The sad eyed angel who was hung incorrectly and was left

Elie has moments throughout his time at Auschwitz where he thinks about leaving his father but his
guilt stops him from doing it. Elie s relationship with his father on him strengthened as they relied on
each other for survival and comfort, especially in his father s final days. Shlomo Elie knows though
keeping his father closer to him is a higher possibility in death. Elie s father always tries to protect
Elie and stick up for him. In a conversation with Elie, Shlomo says how you must resist, don t lose
faith in yourself . In the Novel the Don t lose faith in yourself attitude symbolises all that his father
believes in. Elie s relationship with his father is stronger and exposes little that is right with human
nature. Elie s father, Shlomo attitude signifies that Elie mustn t lose faith in

Follow-On Lab Report
The purpose of these series of experiment was successful as seen from the results. The recombinant
form of the green fluorescent protein was successfully expressed and purified from E. coli. Though a
high yield and purity were not obtained, the qualitative monitoring of the rGFP activity was consistent
with the quantitative values obtained. Qualitatively, the elution fraction E2 fluoresced the most when
placed under a hand held UV lamp. Quantitatively, E2 also had the highest activity with 41900 RFUs
when read by a fluorescent microplate reader. One way to increase the yield of rGFP would be to
increase the IPTG induction time. This would increase the amount of rGFP that is expressed and
consequently increase the amount of rGFP that is purified. There were other things during the
experiment such as contaminant proteins that could also have affected the yield of rGFP obtained. ...

GFP or rGFP has several unique characteristics which makes it a good research tool. rGFP is a small
protein that needs no cofactor for fluorescence and detection of this protein is also easy and
inexpensive. As a follow on experiment, how GFP can be used as a tag for proteins can be explored. In
this experiment, we expressed GFP in E. coli. As a follow on experiment, we could express GFP in
other organisms and use that as a tag to investigate gene expression. GFP would be expressed in three
marine bacteria from a lac or npt 2 promoter (Stretton, Serina et al.). The bacterial strains would then
be tagged with GFP which enables the visualization and the monitoring of gene expression in living
cells (Stretton, Serina et

Caribbean In The 17th Century
Slavery of Caribbean rose affectedly in the later part of the 17th century. The Caribbean requested for
slaves to develop sugarcane and other crops, which all became known as the triangle trade The ships
then traveled to America, where many slaves were exchanged for goods, such as sugar, rum, salt, and
other island products. Ships leaving Europe primarily bunged in Africa, where they traded weapons,
ammunition, metal, liquor, and clothes for hostages taken in wars.
A prediction of eight to fifth teen million Africans extended Americans from the 16th through the 19th
century. Only the freshest and strongest people were acquired for what was called the middle passage

What Is The Weaknesses Of The Modern World
The author separates the book into four main parts, The Modern World , Resources , The Third World
and Organization and Ownership . Each section touches on different ideas of economy, philosophy
and the environment, through the common lens of microeconomics, which champions alleviation of
problems through the scaling down from the current mega economies to village sized economies.
Further subsections incorporate ideas such as education, energy and the different scales of
organizations. Schumacher ends the book by relating all the aforementioned topics back to each other
and calling urgency to reprioritize to avoid an imminent downfall. This is an extremely strong book,
with many evident strengths. Written in an idealistic and conversational tone, the writer calls on many
issues that are still relevant over four decades later. Issues like over use of resources, the dangers of
static technology, and human s obsession over materialism are still very real problems that have only
worsened since Schumacher first called attention to them. While most books that were written in the
1970s about technology and economy run the risk of becoming outdated very, Schumacher has done
an excellent job of addressing the root of the issues, including materialistic consumption versus
happiness, which seem to be timeless. On the issue of technology in particular, which was still at its
beginning stages of developing, the author declared it acted like a foreign body in which the human

Transformation In A Christmas Carol
Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol was first published in London on the 19th of December 1843, the
novella was instantly popular and still is to this day. Dickens inspiration for the short story seems to
come from his childhood experiences and his sympathy for the poor. In the story a miserable old man,
Ebenezer Scrooge, is shown the error of his ways and what will come of it if he doesn t make drastic
changes. Various ghosts and spirits slowly transform him into a kinder more pleasant man. A
Christmas Carol is a powerful novella that uses symbolism like the children Ignorance and Want,
Scrooge s transformation, and Scrooges nephew Fred, to reinforce significant themes like social
isolation, rebirth, and family. Dickens wanted to show the theme of rebirth through Scrooges
transformation. Scrooge is changed from a humpy old man to a kinder nicer man, each stave
represents a step in the transformation process. In stave one, two men come into Scrooge s shop and
ask for a donation to help poor people in need, Scrooge gives them no money and asks why these
people are not in prisons or Union workhouses (Dickens 7). He feels by paying his taxes he has done
enough to help the poor. Scrooge goes on to say If they rather die...they had better do it and decrease
the surplus population (Dickens 7). But in stave 3, Scrooge sees that Tiny Tim, a young innocent boy,
will pass away in the future. Scrooge begs the second of the three spirits to spare his life, but the spirit

Essay Theory of the Absurd
According to critic Mark Esslin, the concept of Theatre of the Absurd relates to the playwrights
loosely grouped under the label of the absurd attempt to convey their sense of bewilderment, anxiety,
and wonder in the face of an inexplicable universe ( The Theatre ). Esslin stressed the fact that plays
and stories belonging to the Theatre of the Absurd were composed of situations dealing with the way a
human reacts to an event, without any form of importance, thus only stressing over insignificant things
and rejecting the notion of logic. Albert Camus, a major writer of the Theatre of the Absurd , construes
the Absurd by completely varying this concept through the human personality, exemplified by The
Stranger and The Myth of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This act depicts that there is no true point to human life. While Meursault is a strong believer of this
concept, humanity attempts to form reasonable justifications for an insane wrongdoing. In the story,
Meursault states that The truth is I never have much to say. I just keep quiet (Camus 104). Thus, by
Meursault statement, Camus stresses the absurdity of silence as the prosecution unravels why
Meursault committed murder of the Arab. The Stranger opens up with a simple quote: Maman died
today. Or yesterday maybe, I don t know. I got a telegram from the home: Mother deceased. Funeral
tomorrow. Faithfully yours. That doesn t mean anything. Maybe it was yesterday (Camus 3). This
abrupt and distinctive introduction expresses the attitude that Meursault possesses that there is simply
no meaning to life as a whole a true stranger to the world. Furthermore, the trial in which Meursault
partakes is absurd in itself because the judge, prosecutors, and jury try to find meaning where there is
none to be found ( Albert ).
Moreover, Meursault implies that fact that he does not have any particular reason to live, and death is
the only way to go. His apathy and indifference about life further reveal the absurd in this novel.
According to McCarthy, Meursault is not truly saddened by his mother s death because in his mind,
death is an unavoidable force mankind is destined to die. During Meursault s mother s funeral,

Analysis Of Walter Onth, By Walter Ong
Yeast, an article written by Walter Ong in 1990, starts with an explanation of a problem the author
believes lies within Catholic institutions. That problem is the challenges the Church faces to be
accepting in an ever growing pluralistic world, while also remaining true to it s own values. With
situations arising such as non Catholic faculty and students, as well as questions of academic freedom
Catholic institutions are found asking themselves where the line is of sharing their own ideas while
still remaining flexible and accepting (Ong 1). Ong goes on to explain the etymology of the word
catholic in order to prove his future point. He makes the point that although it s common belief that
catholic is said to mean universal, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the same way, the church should build into itself the cultures or mixtures of cultures in which it
finds itself (Ong 3). He reaches his final solution about how the relationship between a pluralistic
society and a Catholic institution should behave. He explains that this parable can be used in three
different areas. First, faith in academic subjects should respect the fact that ideas are constantly
changing, and the academics being taught should evolve as ideas change. Secondly, faculty don t have
to be Catholic, but they should respect the religion in view of the fact that they teach at a Catholic
institution, and therefore should represent the character of the institution. Third, as it pertains to
students, the institution should continue to spread its influence through classes, but no student should
have it forced upon them. Lastly, he relates it to cosmology in saying that as more abstract ideas come
into the world of science, the Catholic church needs to absorb these ideas instead of renouncing them.
Overall, Ong summarizes the idea of not only accepting, but celebrating differences that the Catholic
community finds itself in (Ong 5 6). The reason I picked this article was because Ong makes the point
that a Catholic institution should accept students that aren t Catholic, but still have a responsibility to
educate, those willing, about

Speech On True Forgiveness Is True Freedom
Take on the really tough things that happen in life. Anything, yes, anything can be forgiven if you
truly desire to remove the pain from continuing in your life. You will not change what happened, and
you will control how it reflects in your future. Stop a minute and ponder, what would your life feel
like with the power to forgive anything, and anyone, including yourself? True forgiveness is true
freedom.
Many life lessons are learned from nature. Stand on the edge of the canyon and shout. Listen to echo
as it bounces around and comes back full circle. The mind is much the same way. Your thoughts create
active echoes. As long as you choose to hang onto the resentment and anger an active echo bounces
around and affects your every decision. The offender wins. You never progress to become completely
free of the damaging behavior. The echos are sometimes hard to identify and they come back a little
muffled. Still they deliver the same chemical messages to the brain and the whole emotional cycle
runs through, even if you are not sure why. It doesn t always connect with a straight line. What is
echoing in your mind?
This is not about saying the offender is not responsible for the negative behavior. It does not mean that
you allow the offender back in your life to wreak havoc. It does not mean that you have to tell anyone
about your situation, and yet you can if it helps you with the journey. It is a journey. It does not
happen without mountains and valleys. And you are not

Monotheistic Religion Essay
Religion is something that basically everyone has in common. In all corners of the world and in all
eras of history, humans have wondered about the origins of the world, the purpose of life, what it
means to be human and live life, and what happens after death. What is a monotheistic religion? This
one word is defined as believing in the existence of one god or in the oneness of God. Monotheism
shows the traditions of Bábism, Cao Dai (Caodaism), Cheondoism (Cheondogyo), Christianity,
Deism, Islam, Judaism, all believing in just one God. In our society you can voice your concerns,
opinions and state your beliefs as to which religion you need to or want to serve. Religion is the
confidence in and love of a superhuman controlling power, considerably a personal God. Some may
consider it to be an arrangement of confidence and love. Religion adds the reason to the lives of many
supporters, allowing them an energy about the previous life, a comprehension of the present right then
and there, and seek after what s to come in the future. Religions have, images, and respected histories
that intend to clarify the importance of life, the beginning of life, or the inter world. Numerous
religions have sorted out practices, special holidays, sacred spots, and sacred texts. Any and all
religions incorporate ceremonies, sermons, celebrations, feasts, funerals, weddings, music,
craftsmanship, move, open administration, or different parts of human society. There are numerous

The Sexual Function Of Laboratory Animals
Abstract
Castration in males may be the result of disease or injury. It is expected that after a castration
procedure, the males will lose sexual function. In this experiment there were seventeen male rats
randomly distributed into three groups; sham group (N = 5), castrated and oil group (N = 4) and
castrated and testosterone group (N = 7). The control group received a sham operation and bi daily
injections of oil to show that it was not a surgical procedure or bi daily injections that caused the
lowered production of testosterone. As expected sexual function was able to be restored in the
castrated males by giving bi daily supplementation of testosterone hormone at the same rate that
testicles would normally produce this hormone. The castrated males that did not receive the
testosterone injections but had received the bi daily injections of oil, did not have successful
restoration of their sexual function. Studying sexual function in laboratory animals is important to be
able to develop ways to supplement hormones in humans and to restore sexual function in those who
have suffered an injury or disease that resulted in a castration procedure. Introduction
Sexual function is dependent on the testosterone levels produced by the interstitial cells of the testicle.
The role of testosterone deficiency in sexual function can be directly linked to diseases of reproductive
organs, injury, certain medications and aging factors. Males and females face this problem more

paraeducators in my classroom is new to being a paraeducator and has struggled to provide positive
replacement behaviors for the student she is primarily responsible for. She is constantly overwhelmed
and becoming frustrated with the student, which is making the situation worse. My teacher asked to
provide instruction on this for this particular paraeducator.

Making A Decision For A Career
Making a Decision
As a junior in highschool, I do not have an abundance of time left to come up with a strategy for my
life after I graduate. After that life s free ride is over and I will not have anyone to dictate what I do or
where I go. I have spent most all of my school career searching for a adult career. I believe a viable
choice for my profession; one that I have interests in, suits my desired lifestyle, education goals, and
skills; is a job as a Physician Assistant.
What I Know
Ever since I was little, I have had an interest in a career in the medical field. When I was seven, I was
diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy. My condition demanded traveling to massive
pediatric hospitals, being examined by physicians, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reasons for Writing As I have said earlier, I have only about a year and a half of time left before I
pack up my belongings and head off to college. I have put a great amount of thought and consideration
into my choices; however, I have not made a definite decision on my future. The thought of going out
into the world without any idea as to what I will be doing is frightening. So I would have to say that
my main reason for writing this paper is searching in depth for a answer for my future. Even if I do
not find a clear cut solution, I will at least narrow down my choices. Moreover, I want to make
absolutely sure that the career I commit to is one I would enjoy. I have many varied interests such as
art, biology, chemistry, history, and writing. Having so many interest does not help , when I also tend
to be indecisive. I have changed career goals at least three times in the last year. Ultimately, my goal is
to have a rewarding career that I am passionate about.
The Search According to several personality, job interest, and job skills assessments, I should be
looking at careers based in science. My personality, as described by the Myer Briggs questionnaire,
support a job where I have the opportunity to investigate ( INTP Personality ( The Logician ). ). I have
potential in the areas of Medical Diagnosis and Treatment, Natural Science, and Social Science

The Impact Of Ordo Virtutum On The Formation And...
The Impact of Ordo Virtutum on the Formation and Development of Liturgical Drama Thesis: The
Liturgical Drama Ordo Virtutum by Hildegard of Bingen was fundamental in the creation and
development of later works, providing religious inspiration, unique and expressive composition, and
reflections of individual experiences in order to create the first liturgical drama of its kind. I. Ordo
Virtutum depicts an allegorical struggle between good and evil, setting a precedent for later liturgical
dramas. A. Hildegard of Bingen s Ordo Virtutum is considered the first of its kind, revolutionizing the

of Bingen s efforts to depict the drama as an expression of praise, glory, and righteousness. A. The
verse and tone of Ordo Virtutum contributes to the overarching theme of holiness and righteousness
within the piece. 1. Ordo Virtutum is written in Latin from the twelfth century that is praised its
revolutionary nature and differentiation from all other sacred poetry during this time. 2. Ordo Virtutum
has a modal formulaic structure that works by an alternating solo and choral response, which is
considered to be distinct to Hildegard s compositions. B. Hildegard utilizes techniques of singing and
shouting to emphasize various characteristics in Ordo Virtutum. 1. The Devil is not given any singing
lines, rather, is directed to shout his lines. Given the idea that music is the imitation of divine harmony,
the Devil should take no part in music. 2. The Devil intervenes within the scenes of light and purity by
shouting his threats. By using such extreme differences in vocal technique, the essential message of
the morality play is shown here. C. The conclusion of Ordo Virtutum consists of a period of praise and
glory, demonstrating Hildegard of Bingen s ideal vision of devotion to righteousness. 1. Half of the
published score is dedicated to the conclusion,

Drug Trafficking In Costa Rica
Drug trafficking is the worldwide manufacturing, distribution, and selling of illegal substances.
Organizations called drug cartels are the illegal businesses that conduct this trade. According to the
UNODC, Afghanistan is the world s largest producer of heroin and other opiates, and the majority of
opiates produced in the world are trafficked through Afghanistan s surrounding countries. North
America accounts for 40% of the world s cocaine consumption, and Colombia is one of the largest
cocaine suppliers for both North America and Europe. Peru, Bolivia, and Central American countries
are some of the main cocaine suppliers in Europe. One of the first global drug conflicts were the

1,700 kilos of cocaine are approximated to be dealt through Costa Rica by the end of 2016. In 2014,
more than 20% of the country s GDP was being used for drug trafficking, drug production, corruption,
tax evasion, and other crime. For most of the 2000 s Costa has led Central american countries in drug
confiscation, and the country s police organizations have been coordinated to focus their efforts on
patrolling ocean and sea routes for smuggling. Costa Rica is also working with the US, Colombia, and
Panama to diminish this problem. Unlike many other countries, especially in Central America, it is not
a criminal offence to possess drugs for immediate personal use. Many Central American countries
including Costa Rica are wanting an international debate to reform drug legislations. In 2013, Costa
Rica allied with the US to prevent drug cartels from infiltrating the country. Besides improving
security measures, Costa Rica has not proposed any major resolutions to the drug trafficking problem.
One method of prevention that the Costa Rican government would be in favor of is focusing their
efforts on shutting down drug cartels. Drug cartels in particular pose large threats to many Latin
American countries around Costa Rica, and disbanding these cartels should be the main focus for this
region. If drug cartels were no longer a threat, Costa Rica would not have to fear being overtaken by
these organizations, and the drug supply around the rest of the world, especially Central America and
the US, would be greatly

In the 1960s the American Heart Association debuted a film named

transition from saturated animal fats to unsaturated vegetable oils. According to the article in the

Jersey cattle have a reputation of producing the sweetest milk and best tasting meat, they are less

This gave way to a more lean and muscular swine industry.
The modern American diet has generally accepted the theory of cholesterol containing foods
(saturated fats) causing heart disease and is submerged in a low fat, vegetable oil diet. Even though the
public has seemingly accepted this view, the scientific research community is still in disagreement.
The American Heart Association, today, takes the same stance it took in the 1960s with a recent quote
from their website stating:
Eating foods that contain saturated fats raises the level of cholesterol in your blood. High levels of
blood cholesterol increase your risk of heart disease and stroke. Be aware, too, that many foods high
in saturated fats are also high in cholesterol which raises your blood cholesterol even higher. Even
though this is the current opinion of the American Heart Association, many research experiments have
challenged it.

Sustainable Development, International Law, and Trade
Sustainable Development, International Law and the Impact of Trade
At a time when trade continues to expand into the global economy, issues such as climate change,
environmental protection and sustainable development are becoming increasingly important
considerations in the process. However, the question is whether these issues are being adequately
addressed by current International trade regulations, trade agreements and International law.
According to the Australia Government, sustainable development represents one of the greatest
challenges facing Australia s governments, industry, business and community in the coming years .1
What is Sustainable Development?
The most widely accepted definition of sustainable development is from the Brundtland report,
namely, Sustainable Development is development that meets the needs of the present, without
compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. 2 This statement contains two
main aspects, first that the present generation s needs are met (intra generational equity) but more
importantly, that it is not made more difficult for future generation to meet their needs (inter
generational equity). Since the report was published, sustainable development has become an integral
part of environmental policy and has been the subject of numerous conferences and summits including
and the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in 1992,3 the World
Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD,

Asexual chart, the color of parent can only reproduce 1 type of offspring, because they reproduce as
single, and there is no diversity in each individual. Thus, Sexual reproduction has more diversity than

they are the individuals that have to same DNA from their parent, their traits are the same

Iwo Jima Turning Point
In this battle America was attacking Japan with strategic bombers. They formed operation
DETACHMENT to seize iwo jima. The island s airstrips would provide emergency landing facilities
for bombers returning from Japan and also allow U.S. fighters stationed there to escort bombers the
entire length of their missions.
In defense to the opposing side Japanese leaders realized the strategic importance of Iwo Jima and
began reinforcing it a year prior to the American invasion. Lieutenant General Kuribayashi Tadamichi,
the island s commander, disregarded the traditional Japanese defensive strategy of meeting the enemy
at the shoreline and decided to implement a new strategy that relied on 1,500 strong points on the
island.
The battle of Iwo Jima was a major turning point because it was the United state s plan to take Japan
out of the war. It was also a big influence on the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The

When Hamilton was growing up his mother owned a shop and he ran the cash register, calculating the
amount of money the buyer owed. After his mother died he, had been working as a clerk in a
wholesale trading company. (Childress, pg. 4) He also had a job , recording purchases and sales in
Cruger s ledgers, (Childress, pg. 4) this taught him a lot about finances. His whole life he worked with

Primary Deviance And Secondary Deviance
Each theory may aid in predicting and preventing teacher sex scandals. With female teachers and
considering the rational choice and labeling theories, there are some links within. For the labeling
theory, as mentioned above, there are two parts: the primary deviance and secondary deviance.
Primary deviance where one labels within self, secondary, where ones position is labeled by the
public. Many people here of female teacher, male student sex scandals in the media; while these
events, although tragic, can be used as prediction. It is important to identify the reasoning behind the
scandal and watch for potential contributing factors. After prediction is identified, prevention can be
set into place as well. Predicting is preventing. Once you can place a potential threat by identifying the
relationship between teachers and students, it will be easy to prevent. Using the aspects of the labeling
theory can assist in identifying that the public has labeled many female teachers in the role of
inappropriate. Knowing this label beforehand assists in being able to prevent potential

Andersonville Prison Research Paper
Andersonville Prison epitomized the ultimate crime against humanity. The atrocities that transpired in
this confederate prison sparked reaction and outrage at the conclusion of the Civil War. During the
American Civil War, a prisoner of war was a person who was captured and imprisoned by the enemy.
Both the Union and the Confederates had to deal with such matters of prisoners of war. According to
Gabor S. Boritt, both the North and the South each had approximately 30 prison camps that held about
194,000 Union soldiers and about 214,000 Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. (Boritt 1989)

Prison life in Andersonville was considerably worse than the average prison which is why it is
considered the worst of the Civil War prison camps. Other prison camps of the time although were a
rough life, had better infrastructure, supplies and cleanliness. For example in Salisbury, North
Carolina was one of the first Confederate civil War prison camps. Its first prisoners enjoyed playing
baseball in their free time. Although the prison did experience overcrowding like all prison war camps,
it still had much better supply flow into its walls. Alton, Illinois Federal prison was one of the first
Union prison camps. This camp did experience a lack of supplies and disease but had enough space
that prisoners did not have to live in the elements. Andersonville had a large flaw in it making that
made it a much worse prison camp to stay in rather than these other two. That flaw was that
Andersonville was made in great haste and wasn t even finished before it was in use. (Civil War

Women in Pre-Eighteenth Century Literature Essay
Throughout history woman have been portrayed in novels, often with varying degrees of sexism and/
or realism. From the representation of Mary Magdalene in The Bible, right through to J.K Rowling s
Hermione Granger, story tellers and subsequent authors have seen fit to include such characters in
their work.
Of course one must remember that a lot of such novels would have been written by male authors, as
was considered proper and that many female authors such as the Bronte sisters, who famously wrote
under the masculine pseudonyms of Action , Currer and Ellis Bell were not permitted to write at all
and had to do so under false names.
It is because of this that much work that dates back to pre eighteenth century, often ... Show more

However, it must be noted further that the whole of the second paragraph makes great use of imagery
and descriptive language, going to great detail as to describe the lady s facial features and indeed
general appearance. Smollett also goes further though, as he describes her manor, and attitude.
However, it must be noted that there is a distinct lack of insight into the lady s actual character,
showing perhaps a lack of knowledge in this area. Indeed, the next paragraph goes on to further
demean the female sex in general, as it portrays the other ladies as petty and frivolous caring only of
looks and reputation among the right type of society.
If the reader had know clue as to the age of this text, then they could easily ascertain that it is
somewhat ancient from the use of an archaic grammar practice, the use of a double vowel in the
phrase ...an universal... which is often considered unnecessary nowadays.
Similarly if we look at passage B the use of archaic language is again prominent, as we see the word
gay being used in a context to mean happy and not in the slang form we see today. The use of
language overall in this passage is somewhat more adapt for creating the imagery of the scene
surrounding the action. In fact this passage includes no dialogue and is purely

monitor was set horizontally. The monitor required a higher screen height adjustment to maintain
neutral neck posture.
2. Neck Posture: Neck posture involved forward bending/flexion while glancing downward at the
keyboard/mouse, and viewing paper documents on the desk surface. It was noted that the instructor
does not wear bifocals or progressive lenses, hence there was no need to adjust the monitor tilt angle.
Twisting and tilting of the neck was observed when the instructor turned her head to improve viewing
angles at the workstation of both monitors.
3. Chair Height: While perform a task on the workstation, it was observed that the instructor s feet
were not flat on the floor when sitting on the chair. The chair was adjusted to the point at which the
feet were flat on the floor. A re assessment showed that the instructor s elbows were not at right angles

The Impervious Perception of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth...
In the kingdom of Illyria (fantasy world), Twelfth Night was supposedly originally written for the
entertainment of Queen Elizabeth I. William Shakespeare s comedy associates with the Feast of
Epiphany (January 6th) and was means for entertainment in the seventeenth century. It contains some
aspects that can be thought of as a successful comedy when compared to the standards of today s
society. The play incorporates some of the very same devices that are used in modern comedies today,
such as topsy turvy romance, foolery, and mistaken identities. Twelfth Night also involves many
cultural aspects that would be tough for an audience today to relate with. Some of these ideas are

In Twelfth Night, the fools are the ones that control the comedy and humor in the play. They assist in
the make believe game and fool around with characters who evade reality or rather realize a dream . In
Twelfth Night, Feste, Maria and Sir Toby are the fools that make the comedy work in many senses.
They create the confusion through humor and it all works out in the end to make William Shakespeare
s Twelfth Night a comical play of his time and today. In Twelfth Night, the clown and the fools are the
ones who combine humor and wit to make the comedy work, just like in many comical plays in today
s society. Modern audiences would laugh from the foolery caused by these characters while the comic
truth is unwinding to build up this comedy. Another aspect of the play that can easily relate to modern
audiences is, William Shakespeare s use of mistaken identities and true life experiences especially
mourning for the loss of family and love obsessions, are among the main focuses of the play. Many
people in the audience of today would most likely be able to relate to Olivia s intense mourning of her
brother, since people s feelings and actions at the time of loss don t change just the periods of times
that they occur do. Love is commonly used in many forms of works of entertainment because it is an
unsolved mystery that everyone usual enjoys watching or reading. The infatuation that the Duke has

The Power Of Wealth And Tradition In The Great Gatsby

Latina Barbie, both of which were not released until 1980, twenty years after the first Barbie was

seven skin tones and 22 eye colours addressing long time criticism that the dolls did not accurately
reflect the modern woman. This change means more representation for women of colour, more
representation of a normal female body type, teaching young girls that white is not default and
anorexia is not beautiful. This links back to the much needed change in social thinking and the
popularity of healthy lifestyles and colour representation in 2016. Barbie has begun to represent
women outside the thin, white, blonde archetype and represent women as a diverse set of individuals,
appealing to a wider range of consumes and the new trend in pop culture. Barbie has reinforced pop
culture over time as she has managed to change in response to the opinions of society, whether or not

The Commercial Airline Industry Has Witnessed A Steady...
After a century of perpetual development [1], the commercial airline industry has witnessed a steady
increase in airplane passenger capacity [2]. The industry itself is a notable economic force, from the
perspectives of both operations and its impacts on relevant industries such as aircraft construction and
tourism [3]. Different scales of wealth has led to market segmentations between airline companies
with dissimilar objectives and consumer focus: premium airlines like Singapore Airlines offering top
notch service, comfort, and quality at a higher price whilst low cost airlines such as easyJet are
catering to consumers that prefer economical flights.
Nevertheless, despite contrasting consumer targets, an underlying system is needed by airlines to run
functionally. This primary system comprises principal inputs like airplanes, crews (pilots, flight
attendants, ground staffs, etc) and data (airline s website, check in counters, etc), inputs are the
components that are being utilised during the process of creating the product or good [31]. It also
comprises principal output which is the customers mainly, the passengers on the airplane.
Competitive priorities are defined as the dimensions that a business s production system must possess
to support the demands of the markets in which the business wishes to compete [4]. Undoubtedly,
EasyJet s most imperative competitive priorities are its punctuality of flights, emphasis on safety
measures, and the low fares for its

Vlad The Impaler Torture
These are just some of the many gruesome torture methods likely to be enacted by Vlad the Impaler.
Vlad the Impaler usually had a horse attached to each of the victim s legs and a sharpened stake was
gradually forced into the body. The end of the stake was usually oiled and care was taken that the
stake not be too sharp, else the victim might die too rapidly from shock. Normally the stake was
inserted into the body through the buttocks and was often forced through the body until it emerged
from the mouth. However, there were many instances where victims were impaled through other
bodily orifices or through the abdomen or chest. Infants were sometimes impaled on the stake forced
through their mothers chests. The records indicate that victims were sometimes impaled so that they
hung upside down on the stake. As stated by Rebecca Lugo
The Judas Cradle was perhaps a little less sadistic than impalement but still gruesome. The victim s
anus or vagina would be placed over the point of the pyramid shaped cradle, then lowered on it by
ropes. The intended effect was to stretch the orifice over a long period of time, or to slowly impale.

Analysis Of Saint Sebastian And The Roman Emperor, Reign...
284 AD (anno domini) was the start of Diocletian s, Roman emperor, reign and purgatory of
Christians. In result, Saint Sebastian was one of numerous victims during Rome s persecutions. Saint
Sebastian was born a noble and a man of Gallia Narbonensis, a province north of the Alps of what is
now southern France. Narbonensis was world renowned for its trading and liquidity to ports. On the
other hand, Narbonensis was a tactical masterpiece for the Romans as it worked as a territorial defense
for Gallic attacks on Italy. Saint Sebastian has two different feast days depending on the denomination
of Christianity (January 20 for Catholicism and December 18 for Eastern Orthodox). The Catholic
Church sets aside one date out of the year for every canonized saint. The saints are remembered for all
of their accomplishments in their lifetime along with dedicated prayers, mentions, and scripture
reading. This is undoubtedly parallel to a panegyric for each and every saint. In 286 AD it was
discovered that Saint Sebastian was in fact a Christian, following this epiphany, Sebastian was handed
over to Mauretanian archers where they pierced his epidermis was punctured by arrows. Post arrow
assault, Sebastian was nurtured back into good health by Saint Irene, but he was finally eradicated by
way of clubs in 288 AD, in Rome. Saint Sebastian was pre congregation, so there was not a process
for canonization. However, Saint Sebastian is a patron saint of athletes, archers, and soldiers due to

  • 2. Night Exposes Much That Is Wrong With Human Nature In... Night exposes much that is wrong with human nature and reveals little that is right . Discuss. Night by Elie Wiesel is a non fiction novella based on true events of the Holocaust. Wiesel reflects on how the ignorance of jews affected their time in the concentration camps. He also shines a light on how Elie s relationship with his father Shlomo, reveals little that is right with human nature. Elie acknowledges how the struggle of faith reveals to the viewer what is wrong with human nature. Night shows us how the Jews were awakened by their own ignorance. From the beginning the jews chose to be ignorant about the german soldiers entering their homes. They remained ignorant of Moche the Beetles stories. Mrs. Schachter even tried multiple times to explain to them what type of dangers were coming. But instead, nobody listened, and they were awakened by their own ignorance.Elie refers to the infants being used as targets for the machine guns .The sad eyed angel who was hung incorrectly and was left dangling for hours. Once in the camp Wiesel and the Jewish prisoners are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a conversation with Elie, Shlomo says how you must resist, don t lose faith in yourself . In the Novel the Don t lose faith in yourself attitude symbolises all that his father believes in. • 3. Follow-On Lab Report The purpose of these series of experiment was successful as seen from the results. The recombinant form of the green fluorescent protein was successfully expressed and purified from E. coli. Though a high yield and purity were not obtained, the qualitative monitoring of the rGFP activity was consistent with the quantitative values obtained. Qualitatively, the elution fraction E2 fluoresced the most when placed under a hand held UV lamp. Quantitatively, E2 also had the highest activity with 41900 RFUs when read by a fluorescent microplate reader. One way to increase the yield of rGFP would be to increase the IPTG induction time. This would increase the amount of rGFP that is expressed and consequently increase the amount of rGFP that is purified. There were other things during the experiment such as contaminant proteins that could also have affected the yield of rGFP obtained. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... GFP or rGFP has several unique characteristics which makes it a good research tool. rGFP is a small protein that needs no cofactor for fluorescence and detection of this protein is also easy and inexpensive. As a follow on experiment, how GFP can be used as a tag for proteins can be explored. In this experiment, we expressed GFP in E. coli. As a follow on experiment, we could express GFP in other organisms and use that as a tag to investigate gene expression. GFP would be expressed in three marine bacteria from a lac or npt 2 promoter (Stretton, Serina et al.). The bacterial strains would then be tagged with GFP which enables the visualization and the monitoring of gene expression in living cells (Stretton, Serina et ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Caribbean In The 17th Century Slavery of Caribbean rose affectedly in the later part of the 17th century. The Caribbean requested for slaves to develop sugarcane and other crops, which all became known as the triangle trade The ships then traveled to America, where many slaves were exchanged for goods, such as sugar, rum, salt, and other island products. Ships leaving Europe primarily bunged in Africa, where they traded weapons, ammunition, metal, liquor, and clothes for hostages taken in wars. A prediction of eight to fifth teen million Africans extended Americans from the 16th through the 19th century. • 5. What Is The Weaknesses Of The Modern World The author separates the book into four main parts, The Modern World , Resources , The Third World and Organization and Ownership . Each section touches on different ideas of economy, philosophy and the environment, through the common lens of microeconomics, which champions alleviation of problems through the scaling down from the current mega economies to village sized economies. Further subsections incorporate ideas such as education, energy and the different scales of organizations. Schumacher ends the book by relating all the aforementioned topics back to each other and calling urgency to reprioritize to avoid an imminent downfall. This is an extremely strong book, with many evident strengths. Written in an idealistic and conversational tone, the writer calls on many issues that are still relevant over four decades later. Issues like over use of resources, the dangers of static technology, and human s obsession over materialism are still very real problems that have only worsened since Schumacher first called attention to them. While most books that were written in the 1970s about technology and economy run the risk of becoming outdated very, Schumacher has done an excellent job of addressing the root of the issues, including materialistic consumption versus happiness, which seem to be timeless. On the issue of technology in particular, which was still at its beginning stages of developing, the author declared it acted like a foreign body in which the human ... • 6. Transformation In A Christmas Carol Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol was first published in London on the 19th of December 1843, the novella was instantly popular and still is to this day. Dickens inspiration for the short story seems to come from his childhood experiences and his sympathy for the poor. In the story a miserable old man, Ebenezer Scrooge, is shown the error of his ways and what will come of it if he doesn t make drastic changes. Various ghosts and spirits slowly transform him into a kinder more pleasant man. A Christmas Carol is a powerful novella that uses symbolism like the children Ignorance and Want, Scrooge s transformation, and Scrooges nephew Fred, to reinforce significant themes like social isolation, rebirth, and family. Dickens wanted to show the theme of rebirth through Scrooges transformation. Scrooge is changed from a humpy old man to a kinder nicer man, each stave represents a step in the transformation process. In stave one, two men come into Scrooge s shop and ask for a donation to help poor people in need, Scrooge gives them no money and asks why these people are not in prisons or Union workhouses (Dickens 7). He feels by paying his taxes he has done enough to help the poor. Scrooge goes on to say If they rather die...they had better do it and decrease the surplus population (Dickens 7). But in stave 3, Scrooge sees that Tiny Tim, a young innocent boy, will pass away in the future. Scrooge begs the second of the three spirits to spare his life, but the spirit says If ... • 7. Essay Theory of the Absurd According to critic Mark Esslin, the concept of Theatre of the Absurd relates to the playwrights loosely grouped under the label of the absurd attempt to convey their sense of bewilderment, anxiety, and wonder in the face of an inexplicable universe ( The Theatre ). Esslin stressed the fact that plays and stories belonging to the Theatre of the Absurd were composed of situations dealing with the way a human reacts to an event, without any form of importance, thus only stressing over insignificant things and rejecting the notion of logic. Albert Camus, a major writer of the Theatre of the Absurd , construes the Absurd by completely varying this concept through the human personality, exemplified by The Stranger and The Myth of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This act depicts that there is no true point to human life. While Meursault is a strong believer of this concept, humanity attempts to form reasonable justifications for an insane wrongdoing. In the story, Meursault states that The truth is I never have much to say. I just keep quiet (Camus 104). Thus, by Meursault statement, Camus stresses the absurdity of silence as the prosecution unravels why Meursault committed murder of the Arab. The Stranger opens up with a simple quote: Maman died today. Or yesterday maybe, I don t know. I got a telegram from the home: Mother deceased. Funeral tomorrow. Faithfully yours. That doesn t mean anything. Maybe it was yesterday (Camus 3). This abrupt and distinctive introduction expresses the attitude that Meursault possesses that there is simply no meaning to life as a whole a true stranger to the world. Furthermore, the trial in which Meursault partakes is absurd in itself because the judge, prosecutors, and jury try to find meaning where there is none to be found ( Albert ). Moreover, Meursault implies that fact that he does not have any particular reason to live, and death is the only way to go. His apathy and indifference about life further reveal the absurd in this novel. According to McCarthy, Meursault is not truly saddened by his mother s death because in his mind, death is an unavoidable force mankind is destined to die. During Meursault s mother s funeral, ... • 8. Analysis Of Walter Onth, By Walter Ong Yeast, an article written by Walter Ong in 1990, starts with an explanation of a problem the author believes lies within Catholic institutions. That problem is the challenges the Church faces to be accepting in an ever growing pluralistic world, while also remaining true to it s own values. With situations arising such as non Catholic faculty and students, as well as questions of academic freedom Catholic institutions are found asking themselves where the line is of sharing their own ideas while still remaining flexible and accepting (Ong 1). Ong goes on to explain the etymology of the word catholic in order to prove his future point. He makes the point that although it s common belief that catholic is said to mean universal, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the same way, the church should build into itself the cultures or mixtures of cultures in which it finds itself (Ong 3). He reaches his final solution about how the relationship between a pluralistic society and a Catholic institution should behave. He explains that this parable can be used in three different areas. First, faith in academic subjects should respect the fact that ideas are constantly changing, and the academics being taught should evolve as ideas change. Secondly, faculty don t have to be Catholic, but they should respect the religion in view of the fact that they teach at a Catholic institution, and therefore should represent the character of the institution. Third, as it pertains to students, the institution should continue to spread its influence through classes, but no student should have it forced upon them. Lastly, he relates it to cosmology in saying that as more abstract ideas come into the world of science, the Catholic church needs to absorb these ideas instead of renouncing them. Overall, Ong summarizes the idea of not only accepting, but celebrating differences that the Catholic community finds itself in (Ong 5 6). The reason I picked this article was because Ong makes the point that a Catholic institution should accept students that aren t Catholic, but still have a responsibility to educate, those willing, about ... • 9. Speech On True Forgiveness Is True Freedom Take on the really tough things that happen in life. Anything, yes, anything can be forgiven if you truly desire to remove the pain from continuing in your life. You will not change what happened, and you will control how it reflects in your future. Stop a minute and ponder, what would your life feel like with the power to forgive anything, and anyone, including yourself? True forgiveness is true freedom. Many life lessons are learned from nature. Stand on the edge of the canyon and shout. Listen to echo as it bounces around and comes back full circle. The mind is much the same way. Your thoughts create active echoes. As long as you choose to hang onto the resentment and anger an active echo bounces around and affects your every decision. The offender wins. You never progress to become completely free of the damaging behavior. The echos are sometimes hard to identify and they come back a little muffled. Still they deliver the same chemical messages to the brain and the whole emotional cycle runs through, even if you are not sure why. It doesn t always connect with a straight line. What is echoing in your mind? This is not about saying the offender is not responsible for the negative behavior. It does not mean that you allow the offender back in your life to wreak havoc. It does not mean that you have to tell anyone about your situation, and yet you can if it helps you with the journey. It is a journey. It does not happen without mountains and valleys. And you are not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In all corners of the world and in all eras of history, humans have wondered about the origins of the world, the purpose of life, what it means to be human and live life, and what happens after death. What is a monotheistic religion? This one word is defined as believing in the existence of one god or in the oneness of God. Monotheism shows the traditions of Bábism, Cao Dai (Caodaism), Cheondoism (Cheondogyo), Christianity, Deism, Islam, Judaism, all believing in just one God. Religion is the confidence in and love of a superhuman controlling power, considerably a personal God. Some may consider it to be an arrangement of confidence and love. Religion adds the reason to the lives of many supporters, allowing them an energy about the previous life, a comprehension of the present right then and there, and seek after what s to come in the future. • 11. The Sexual Function Of Laboratory Animals Abstract Castration in males may be the result of disease or injury. It is expected that after a castration procedure, the males will lose sexual function. In this experiment there were seventeen male rats randomly distributed into three groups; sham group (N = 5), castrated and oil group (N = 4) and castrated and testosterone group (N = 7). The control group received a sham operation and bi daily injections of oil to show that it was not a surgical procedure or bi daily injections that caused the lowered production of testosterone. As expected sexual function was able to be restored in the castrated males by giving bi daily supplementation of testosterone hormone at the same rate that testicles would normally produce this hormone. The castrated males that did not receive the testosterone injections but had received the bi daily injections of oil, did not have successful restoration of their sexual function. Studying sexual function in laboratory animals is important to be able to develop ways to supplement hormones in humans and to restore sexual function in those who have suffered an injury or disease that resulted in a castration procedure. Introduction Sexual function is dependent on the testosterone levels produced by the interstitial cells of the testicle. The role of testosterone deficiency in sexual function can be directly linked to diseases of reproductive organs, injury, certain medications and aging factors. The verse and tone of Ordo Virtutum contributes to the overarching theme of holiness and righteousness within the piece. 1. Ordo Virtutum is written in Latin from the twelfth century that is praised its revolutionary nature and differentiation from all other sacred poetry during this time. 2. Ordo Virtutum has a modal formulaic structure that works by an alternating solo and choral response, which is considered to be distinct to Hildegard s compositions. B. Hildegard utilizes techniques of singing and shouting to emphasize various characteristics in Ordo Virtutum. 1. The Devil is not given any singing lines, rather, is directed to shout his lines. Given the idea that music is the imitation of divine harmony, the Devil should take no part in music. 2. The Devil intervenes within the scenes of light and purity by shouting his threats. By using such extreme differences in vocal technique, the essential message of the morality play is shown here. C. • 32. Vlad The Impaler Torture These are just some of the many gruesome torture methods likely to be enacted by Vlad the Impaler. The end of the stake was usually oiled and care was taken that the stake not be too sharp, else the victim might die too rapidly from shock. Normally the stake was inserted into the body through the buttocks and was often forced through the body until it emerged from the mouth. However, there were many instances where victims were impaled through other bodily orifices or through the abdomen or chest. Infants were sometimes impaled on the stake forced through their mothers chests. The records indicate that victims were sometimes impaled so that they hung upside down on the stake. As stated by Rebecca Lugo The Judas Cradle was perhaps a little less sadistic than impalement but still gruesome.
