Introduction
Sexual conflict, the conflict between the evolutionary interests of individuals of the two sexes, is
recognized as a pertinent factor for adaptation. Traits of one sex that reduce the fitness of the other sex
ultimately inflicts antagonistic selection on that sex to evolve to counteract this cost. For example,
sexual conflicts can arise over traits like mating duration, where the two sexes adapt and counter adapt
in order for each sex to achieve its ideal fitness levels. However, the fact that adaptations have effects
on other fitness components suggests that the detection of sexual conflicts on individual traits can be
complicated. The bean beetle Callosobruchus maculatus is a prime example of sexual conflict and is
widely considered a model organism to scientists for its ability to represent how mating behavior
influences biological processes such as reproduction. The model organism dedicates its short life span
to mating and laying eggs on beans, thereby enabling scientists to use the beetles for experimentation.
Two of C. maculatus populations are Burkina Faso (BF), originating from Africa, and Southern India

INTRODUCTION
On September 12, 2008, I observed two people; Person A and Person B. The observation took place at
Applebee s, a local restaurant, beginning at 7:21 p.m. and ending observation at 8:06 p.m. I was
serving their table for the evening, enabling myself to observe them closely. The restaurant had died
down from the dinner rush, leaving them one of three tables in the smoking section, normally filled
with eight. Along with the outside light fading, the lighting indoors was dim, making the dining
experience feel more quiet and intimate. The background noise was filled with a light roar of other
group s conversations, and a jazz station played quietly from the speakers overhead.

I could observe many times of laughter, and took note of no negative expressions.
Along the lines of laughter, another observation I observed was Person A s tone. I was able to observe
this closely walking by their table several times throughout the night. Person A had a deep, gentle
voice that stayed at a fairly steady low volume throughout dinner. He spoke fairly fast, but I think he
was simply excited to be with Person B; trying to fit in as much as he could. His laughter was low and
hearty, but stayed near the volume he spoke. He also used a lot of hand gestures. His stories were
filled with help from his hands and arms. He was quite animated and looked excited to be talking. At
one point it looked as if he was trying to describe a house using hand gestures.
One last nonverbal observation I will mention is that of Person A s posture. He generally sat hunched

suggests he wanted to be as near to Person B as possible.

Person B was a female around the age of 22. She was about 5 ½ feet tall with a slender build and
shoulder length blonde hair. The first nonverbal observation I made about Person B was the way she

Sleep can be effected in a number of ways whether it is by the environment, your thoughts, or your pre
sleep routine, there are multiple factors involved. Many people have their own techniques that work
well for them and some doctors have recommendations of their own. The purpose of this paper is to
investigate and show the effectiveness of paced breathing and breathing techniques on sleep, this will
take into account peer reviewed research, course and lecture materials. In a study used to determine
the efficacy of paced breathing on insomnia and vagal activity 14 people with self reported insomnia
(SRI) and 14 people who reported to be good sleepers (GS) were utilized to test the hypotheses that
paced breathing would aid those with insomnia in falling asleep (Tsai, Kuo, Lee, Yang, 2014). The
study measured variables such as sleep quality, sleep effectiveness, Heart rate variability, and cardiac
vagal tone. For the individuals to be allowed in the SRI group they had to have difficulty falling
asleep, staying asleep, or trouble with waking up too early and not being able to go back to sleep more
than 3 times per week, for 6 continuous months. All subjects of the study had to be between 20 25
years old and have a BMI within the normal range for their height and weight (18.5 24.5 Kg/m^). The
subjects all had regular times that they went to bed and woke up and none reported having any history
of sleep disorders such as sleep apnea or periodic limb movement, substance abuse,

For quite some time now the stock market and the dollar have been locked in a reverse correlation.
When the dollar went up the market went down and so forth.
In particular 2009 has seen that correlation play out in dramatic fashion. The stock market had a
bottom in November 2008 and then the final bottom of the bear market run down in March 2009.
The stock market as measured by the Dow 30 industrials bottomed in March at which time the Dollar
index negatively correlated by peaking in price. In all the retracements and minor corrections that
occurred, since then, in the Dow the dollar also experienced a similar but opposite reaction.
Within the last week or so the dollar has begun to react with slightly more strength and the market
seems to be attempting to dislodge that inverse correlation between a falling dollar and a rising
market.
On Friday Dec. 4th. the Dow was up strongly in the morning with a rising dollar. In the weeks and
months prior to this if the dollar had risen strongly the market almost inevitably would have fallen.

Richard Frethorne was a young Englishman who came over to the New World in 1623 as an
indentured servant and settled in Virginia, near the Jamestown colony. His letter provides an
illuminating picture of the hardships of colonization in the early seventeenth century, especially for the
class of indentured servants. Combating homesickness, disease, hunger, discomfort, and isolation,
Frethorne and his fellow settlers struggled to make a success of their fledgling community. Life in

Opechancanough organized an attack on English settlements across the colony that killed between

History shows that financialization has not only touched the United States, but has been a part of the
cycle of economies throughout time. It affected Spain in the 1300s as well as England in the 1800s
and 1900s. The definitions of financialization are many. One definition says that with regard to the
operation of the economy, it has to do with the increasing importance of financial markets, motives,
institutions, and elites (Assa 2012). Adam Smith defined it as the growing scale and profitability of the
finance sector at the expense of the rest of the economy and the shrinking regulation of its rules and
