Remember The Alamo Thesis
Whenever I hear someone say, Remember the Alamo I can t help but think of how Texas won its
Independence from Mexico and changed the entire history of the United States.
In 1836, the Mexican Army being led by the Dictator, President Santa Anna had its sights set on
taking everything that it could from the people of Texas, while in route as they marched their way
toward the San Antonio mission known as the Alamo. The Alamo was one of two fortified
missions that were quickly established as preparation for defense against the Mexican Army which
were advancing from either one or two different main roads that were potential options to them as
avenues of approach. (Lord). Santa Anna and his Mexican army marched into Texas in
February of 1836, and he attacked the Alamo. With around... Show more content on

By now he had been caught and now was to face General Houston after his defeat and was spared
his life but only in return for a concession that Mexican Leader order the retreat of the three armies
into Mexico. This cut off the resupplies to his to his remaining forces, resulting in a full retreat and
then on May 14th 1836, in the Treaties of Velasco, General
Santa Anna finally acknowledged the Texas Independence had been won. Texas had now
received its full diplomatic recognition from the Mexican Government. Santa Anna s pride had
gotten the best of him in the long run. Before making that decision to break down his forces he
had marched almost all the way across Texas and defeated every Army or planned resistance in
his path. Due to his mistakes his reign of terror had finally ended. If he had not been stopped, who
knows how much further he and his Army could have taken over and destroyed. This is

The World s First Atomic Bomb
What started out as a secret, yet modest research project, headed by the United States Army Corp
of Engineers in the borough of New York City, soon escalated into the largest and most expensive
operation the country had ever performed. With a cost of over two billion dollars what was to
become known as the Manhattan Projectemployed tens of thousands of people who lived and
worked in three top secret locations. The project consisted of the country s best and brightest
scientists. All of whom were in an urgent race against their German counter parts. With World War
II raging in Europe everyone involved was acutely aware that the ruthless dictator Hitler would not
stop until his scientists had created the worst weapon the world had ever seen. A weapon of mass
destruction. And so, in order to defeat Germany and save millions of lives the Manhattan Project
scientists strove to win the race to build the world s first atomic bomb. In 1938 German chemists
Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassmann were bombarding uraniumwith neutrons and discovering that they
were left with the new substance barium. They did not quite understand why this was occurring and
corresponded with their colleague Lise Meitner. Meitner was able to form an explanation by taking
into consideration the earlier discoveries of physicists Neils Bohr and Albert Einstein. According to
the Berkeley Nuclear Research Center, she concluded that uranium nuclei had split to form barium
and krypton, accompanied by the

Jetblue Negative Issues
In 2005, among other major airlines in the United States, JetBlue was known to be one of the
highest in customer service (Argenti, 2017, p. 102). They were ranked the highest because they
served and valued their customers to the best they could, and tried to provide them with the best
service during their flights. JetBlue served their signature Terra Blues potato ships, free satellite
television in every leather seat, legroom, among other attentive services (Argenti, 2017, p. 102).
JetBlue had a valuable reputation; however, all that changed due to deteriorating weather condition.
As mentioned in the reading, due to the deteriorating weather caused at the New York s John F.
Kennedy International Airport, critical constituency issues were arising within JetBlue s
customers and their own employees. More than 250 of its 505 flights daily canceled and had an
outcome of 1,200 flights canceled between February 14 and February 19 (Argenti, 2016, p. 105).
Because of the widespread of cancellations, this caused loss of baggage s which enraged
customers. However, one of the biggest errors that caused constituency issue was when JetBlue
trapped their customers inside the plane for over nine hours before they were taken to their terminal
(Argenti, 2017, p. 104). These issues ruin JetBlue s reputation within their potential customers
because they now feared that they could lose their baggage, have their flights canceled or even
worse, be trapped inside the plane for numerous of hours.

At 37.9337В° N, 78.9529В° W elevation 3200 feet or mile 10.8 on the Blue Ridge Parkway lies
one of the most spectacularly beautiful overlooks in the area. Looking to the right Ravens Roost

Roost holds a significant place in my heart, soul, and brain and continues to amaze me with its
beauty time after time.
The first time I ventured up to Ravens Roost was the weekend before finals week at Governor s
school in late April. I was stressing out over all of the things I had going on in the coming days
when my friends suggested we take a trip up on the mountain. We were not sure where we would
end up. We were searching for a perfect spot to watch the sunset and stopped at three or four other
overlooks before reaching Ravens Roost. As we parked at Ravens Roost the sun was just starting to
set, casting its shadow over the mountain. We wrapped up in blankets and sat on the rock retaining
wall, taking in the beauty before us. For whatever reason, the sunset that night was particularly
sunning. As the blazing light from the day was receding it was turning the air around the sun
lovely shades of pink, orange, and violet. As we took in the landscape before us I started pointing
out the landmarks we could make out down in the valley. The buildings of Hollister Inc. and

Elks Should Support Veterans
Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to meet with me, Paul Helsel, Shawn Bullard

many programs the Elks have nationally and locally in supporting veterans.
As discussed in our meeting, the Elks would very much like to be part of the coalition you are
developing to better understand and address the needs of veterans. Each and every day, the Elks are
interacting with veterans at VA hospitals and nursing homes, at their lodges through programs for
veterans, by giving veterans the financial support and home furnishing to exit homelessness and

Carnival Cruise Line Vs. Royal Caribbean International
There are big decisions to be made when deciding what cruise line to take on a vacation. Some
choose the Carnival Cruise Line and others choose the Royal Caribbean International. There are
many differences that set these two cruise lines aside from each other, as well as many
similarities. Basic information, such as the amount of ships, ages of the ships, and size of ships
are very similar with the Carnival and Royal Caribbean lines. The Carnival Cruise Line has 25
ships total dating back to 26 years ago, whereas the Royal Caribbean International has 25 ships
total dating back to 24 years ago. The oldest shipfrom the Carnival company is the Carnival
Fantasy. The oldest ship from the Royal Caribbean company is the Majesty of the Seas. Another
fact is that the smallest ship, from each company, can hold around the same amount of
passengers. Carnival s Fantasy Class can hold up to 2052 passengers, while Royal Caribbean s

Dr. Bundy, The Murderer, Rapist And Necrophilia Of Many...
Introduction
Theodore Robert Cowell, also known as Ted Bundy, was a murderer, rapist and necrophilia of
many young women between 1974 and 1978. Bundy murdered young women all over the United
States, including Washington, Utah, Oregon, Colorado and Florida. He was a suspect in over thirty
six murders and allegedly murdered many more. (2015, www.twistedminds.com). Fortunately,
forensic science played a key role in the conviction of several murders.
The murders
On the morning of January 4, 1974, Bundy entered the home of an 18 year old female University
of Washington student, Joni Lenz. Bundy used a crow bar and bludgeoned her with it while she
was sleeping. He also removed a rod from her headboard and sexually abused her with it. ... Show

Police from the area now had a description of Bundy and his vehicle. His description and sketch
were plastered on the news and in newspapers around the area. The police received calls from his
ex coworker Ann Rule, his girlfriend, and a UW professor claiming that Bundy could be the
suspect. However, the police didn t accept that Bundy could be the suspect given the fact that he
was a clean cut law student . (2015, www.clarkprosecutor.org). In September of 1974, the two
victims remains were discovered off of the interstate near Issaquah.
Over the next four years, Bundy continued on this murder spree, targeting young women who had
dark shoulder length (or longer) hair, parted in the middle. They all resembled Stephanie, the love
of his life that he could never have . (2015, www.twistedminds.com). While he attended law school,
he would kill more women in Colorado and Utah.
In Murray, Utah, on 8 November 1974, Bundy posed as Officer Rosewood of the Murray Police
Department. He approached a woman named Carol DaRonch, at a local mall, telling her to come
with him because someone tried to break into her car. (2015, www.clarkprosecutor.org). She got
into his car, but refused to buckle her seatbelt. Bundy handcuff her, but DaRonch struggled and was
able to escape.
Finally, Bundy was arrested in Salt Lake City, Utah under suspicion of burglary. (2015,

Essay on John Maynard Keynes Versus Friederich A. Hayek
Two major economic thinkers of the of the early twentieth century, John Maynard Keynes and
Friedrich A. Hayek, hold very different economic viewpoints. Keynes is among the most famous
economic philosophers. Keynes, who s theories gained a reputation during the Great Depression in
the 1930s, focused mainly on an economy s bust. It is where the economy declines and finally
bottoms out, that Keynesian economics believes the answers lie for its eventual recovery. On the
other hand, Hayek believed that in studying the boom answers would be provided to lead the
economy out of the bust that was sure to follow. Hayek backed the Austrian school of economics.

This is almost the textbook definition of money illusion, which of course classical economics
assumes people are not fooled by. Still, Keynes ideas gained popularity and President Franklin D.
Roosevelt s New Deal was directly influenced by the Keynesian point of view. Keynes held that
the way out of a depression was to increase an economy s aggregate demand(AD). Roosevelt s New
Deal contained huge federal expenditures and government jobs programs, all designed to boost AD.
These programs, including direct relief, were paid by taxpayers dollars and the tax rates rose
dramatically multiple times during the Great Depression. F. A. Hayek, the other economic thinker
of the twentieth century, believed that the way to stabilize a broken economy was to find solution
from the boom that preceded the current bust. The Hayek supported Austrian theory sought a
connection among business cycles, capital theory, and monetary theory. Hayek believed an
economy started going downhill when people did not coordinate their actions. The spontaneous
order of the free market and price system usually does a fantastic job of coordinating people s
actions. Hayek said that the credit market becomes distorted when the money supply increases,
interest rates go down, and the credit becomes artificially cheap (Friedrich). This causes an

Andy Pope of Pop Warhol
The American artist, Andy Warhol, was one of the major influential artists in the late 20th century,
during the pop art movement. One of his art pieces is called Details of Renaissance Paintings
(Sandro Botticelli, Birth of Venus, 1482) made in 1984 and currently located at The Andy Warhol
Museum in his hometown. For all of his art works (printmaking, painting, cinema, photography),
Warhol gives a whole new different perspective and meaning to society, by giving a personality to
his work. The cultural icon once said, In the future everyone will be famous for fifteen minutes.
(QuotationsPage.com, 1994). I believe this is true, because no matter the object or celebrity icon,
Warhol gave that chance to everyone and anything that was popular.
His birth name was Andrew Warhola Jr., later changing it to Andy Warholshortly after moving to
New York. He was born on August 6, 1928 and raised in his hometown of Pittsburg,

Abstract
Independent broker dealers and financial advisors face a number of daunting challenges in todays
Business environment. These challenges have the potential to severely impact this important

Overview
What is an Independent Broker Dealer?
Broker dealers are specialized financial services companies that trade securities for their own
account or on behalf of their customers. Broker dealers are regulated under the Securities Exchange
Act by the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC), a unit of the US government. Some regulatory
authority is further delegated to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), a self
regulatory organization. Many states also regulate broker dealers under separate state securities
laws known as blue sky laws.
The IBD business model focuses on comprehensive financial planning services and unbiased
investment advice. IBD firms also share a number of other similar business characteristics. They
generally clear their securities business on a fully disclosed basis; primarily engage in the sale of
packaged products, such as mutual funds and variable insurance products; take a comprehensive
approach to their clients financial goals and objectives; and provide investment advisory services
through either affiliated registered investment adviser firms or such firms owned by their financial
advisor.

Disclosure Research Paper
Some agree that the term disclosure is known as the action of making new or secret information
known, while others, particularly in the electronic dance music scene, provide a whole other
meaning. Two brothers, Howard and Guy Lawrence, make up the English electronic music duo
known as Disclosure. Popularized for making pop structured songs in the style of house music
and garage, this brotherly duo has quickly tapped in to the fan base of electronic dance music
fans worldwide; creating a demand for more styles similar to Disclosure s. Who would have
thought that the blend between pop, house, and garage music would become such a hit? But with a
name just of that of Disclosure s there is no doubt that the duo has brewed up some new beats that
fans will be longing to give a listen to. There is much reason why the second studio album released,
Caracal, on September 25, 2015 was nominated for Best Dance/ Electronica Album at the 2016
Grammy Awards. Three songs from the album stuck out to me tracks two, three, and seven. More

Porter s jazz influence gives the song a warmer feel; while the rich, smooth tones of Disclosure s

This song tells the story of a girl named Mariela, who helps a group of rebels take back a city
from an army of soldiers. Holding On, displays the artistic ability of Disclosure to stay faithful to
their formula for beats while also managing to launch their music steadfastly into the future by
adding new elements to the song

Service Quality Is An Antecedent Of Perceived Value Essay
Service quality is an antecedent of perceived value, and it will cause a significant influence on
perceived value (Bojanic, 1996; Oh, 1999; Sweeney et al., 1999). Ostrom Iacobucci (1995) found
that price, level of quality, friendliness of service personnel, and the degree of customization of the
service are important factors to customer value perceptions. Although customer perceived value has
long been recognized in marketing research as an important concept in influencing preference,
satisfaction, loyalty, and other important outcomes (Cronin et al., 2000), most studies have
examined customer value in the context of offline rather than online customer behavior (Overby
Lee, 2006). Although customer perceived value in the online shopping environment is of crucial
importance, previous studies have neglected that variable (Chang et al., 2005). In an online
environment, customers can find alternatives easily; therefore building long term relationships
presents a more difficult challenge for E commerce companies (Chang Wang, 2011). Gummerus
(2010) investigated the impact of three resource inputs (i.e., service content, service process, and
service configurations) on the perceptions of value of a Finnish health care website. The results
reveal that the service content of the discussion groups had the strongest relationship with customer
value, followed by article content and database content. As to service process security, usability, and
responsiveness were all

The Personal Development Of Nathan s Psychoanalytic Theory
According to Freud s Psychoanalytical theory, the ego serves as a balancing force between the id
and super ego. The healthy development of each of these components relies on having positive
interaction with one s parents throughout the first years of life. If a child grows up in a chaotic
home, it is likely that their development, according to the Psychoanalytic theory, will suffer. Nathan
s upbringing was filled with turbulence and instability as a result of his parents abusive relationship
and mother s mental illness. Freud s theory notes that the id is the first to develop and represents
the impulsive and instinctual portion of the unconscious mind. As the child progresses through

She had mild intuitions around some troubling behavior: in particular, phone calls to his mother

In Section 3 we discuss empirical implementation. We present the results of the decomposition for
the Indian income tax in Section 4. Section 5 concludes. 2. Decomposing Income Tax Revenue
Changes Before formally setting out the decomposition, we explain its logic. Comparisons of
revenue performance are made with a pre selected (here pre reform) base year. In order to examine
revenue loss, we define potential revenue at base year tax rates as the revenue that would obtain
in the absence of base erosion due to deductions and evasion, if the base year tax rate structure
was in operation. Conceptually, to arrive at potential revenue we tax potential DECOMPOSING
REVENUE EFFECTS 179 income, which we take as given.6 Deductions and exclusions (other
than for costs of earning income) cause taxable income to be narrower than potential income. Due
to tax evasion by, for example, failing to п¬Ѓle a return, understating receipts or overstating
expenses, potential income itself may not be fully revealed to tax authorities. What the
decomposition analysis does is to separate the difference between potential revenue and revenue
actually collected in any year into components reflecting losses due to tax schedule changes, base
erosion, and evasion. Potential revenues will, however, differ across years, even if the tax schedule
is unchanged, due to changes in aggregate income and its distribution. To account for this, we
normalize the difference

Each canton also sets its own level of taxation.
Each of the 26 cantons and half cantons has a parliament elected by universal suffrage, and a

universal sovereignty is exercised directly through assemblies of all voters. The cantons are
sovereign in all areas that are not specifically entrusted to the federal government.
The cantons are divided into communes, which make up the local authorities. All Swiss are first
and foremost citizens of a commune. It is from this status that they automatically derive citizenship
of a canton and of the country as a whole. Foreigners wishing to become Swiss citizens have to
apply to the commune where they live.
Switzerland has a firmly anchored tradition of service to the community, under which citizens take
on public office which they perform alongside their normal jobs. This is referred to by the Swiss
as the militia system. Its best known manifestation is the army, which is largely non professional,
even as far as most of its officers are concerned.
Since the Swiss Confederation was surrounded by large countries, that is, Germany, France,

to be drawn into military conflicts. Instead, Switzerland pursued a realistic and В– in the positive
sense В– modest foreign policy. Therefore the country is not

A Study On Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
The summer of 2010, my sister was diagnosed with a tumor the size of a walnut pressing on the
frontal lobe of her brain. With a hopeful prognosis of slow growth and surgery scheduled in late
fall, the outlook was promising. When she went in for surgery the doctors found a lesion instead
of the tumor they had diagnosed her with. The seemingly positive news turned dark as they
explained they d need to biopsy the tissue to understand what had caused it. In the middle of my
second fall semester at Edmonds Community College, my sister underwent endless scans and
tests. When she began experiencing severe migraines, aural hallucinations, seizures, and severe
mood destabilization, I drove to as many of her appointments in Seattle as I could and spent
weekends with her where she lived with my mother in Centralia. Though we avoided discussing
her condition, I couldn t stop imagining the potential fatal outcome. Previously diagnosed with
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, they advised my sister to start an aggressive treatment
approach as her O.C.D. was possibly a result of a lesion and their growth would aggravate the
disorder. The doctors expected lesion growth and possible appearance of more lesions over time
alongside a decline in her cognitive function. Neither my sister nor I handled this news well.
While her decline was sharp and her depression set in quickly, I struggled with making it to class
and completing my assignments. Each day I pushed myself to be present and

Glucose And Starch Lab Report
Starch and Water Diffusing Into Either Iodine or Glucose Through a Semi Permeable Dialysis
Tubing Diffusion is a high concertation of molecules spreading randomly to a lower concertation.
This an example of passive transport that does not require ATP. A lipid bilayer can only easily
allow small molecules that are non polar through it. Water is an exception because it can defuse
through with a process called Osmosis. Special aquaporin proteins allow the water through the
semi permeable membrane. Starch is a polysaccharide made of many glucose monosaccharides
bonded together. It is insoluble in water. Glucose is soluble in water and is also a monosaccharide.
Hypothesis
Setup 1 Starch will not diffuse out of the tubing. It is a polysaccharide, so it will be hard to
diffuse through because of its size. The liquid iodine will be able to diffuse into the tubing. Even

The raven patronizes Poe that he will never see his lost love again when uttering, forget this lost
Lenore (Thompson, 83). Alcohol taunts Poe into never ending depression and caused Poe to
have a life long problem with alcoholism, which led to his death. In a similar way that the alcohol
explored Poe s inner devastation, the raven gives a look into the narrator s innermost fears that he
will never see his Lenore again. In the first stanza, questioning from what direction the tapping
came, he throws open the door, the narrators nemesis not to be found. In fact it was some other
realm that must have been opened up about his lost love and the noise, which is driving him
insane. The narrator then opens the shutter, which could be interpreted as opening his soul to the
outside world. To his surprise, he discovers a raven, a beast upon the sculptured bust above his
chamber door (Thompson, 53). The raven directs all further action in the poem, it ridicules and
patronizes the narrator throughout the poem and its evil force creates a sense of suffering and
anguish within the character. The climax of the poem is when the narrator faces his confused and
disordered world and in the narrator s madness he cries out, Get thee back into the tempest and the
Night s Plutonian shore! (Thompson, 98).
Poe s use of symbolism was influential in making the literary reputation of The Raven . The raven

Agricultural Subsidy Programs And The United States

Christopher J. May
Baker College Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present an analysis of the history and current state of agricultural
subsidy programs in the United States. The original intent of these programs are discussed and
compared to the current use and distribution of federal resources to identify inefficiencies and
potential areas for improvements. In addition to the financial and economic effects of agricultural
subsidies, the factors of social welfare and impact on consumers nutrition and health are discussed
along with efficiency improvements that could better allocate taxpayer dollars to farms in need and
crops that contribute more to social welfare and the health of society as a whole. Agricultural
Problem Solving:
Are Farm Subsidies Working in the United States?
Introduction
Beginning in the 1930s, agricultural subsidy programs were established in the United States to
address the issues of inelastic supply and demand of the agriculture market along with the nature of
the industry that faces uncertain performance in terms of production and demand, which can vary
greatly from year to year (Urry, 2015). Through several reiterations of government policy
surrounding these subsidy payments, the majority of direct payments are now being received by
large, for profit farming companies (Urry, 2015), further incentivizing them to mass produce crops
easily grown and

In just the title, The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls one can tell or draw a grasp of what the poem
will be about. As for my perspective, this signifies that one is washed away or realistically
passes away while another comes to life. It is just a cycle that never has an ending. As for the
whole poem, the meaning is about how death is an enormous factor in the world that our own
selves live in. It has an extensive role as every single one of us going to perish at some point, but
there is always someone new that will replace us when we re gone. It shows how nature is with
a non ending cycle, which keeps our life ways to continue for bounteous years to come. The
poem has a nice but also a mournful meaning to it. Our way in which us life organisms live as
death being an immense factor, having a great deal of a sentimental value. Ultimately, each person
only has one life, they decide what they accomplish with it along with forming the best of it. This

The Software Development Life Cycle Essay
The waterfall method is a linear, sequential, non iterative process for software development first
mentioned by Herbert Benington in 1956. The software development life cycle (SDLC) is defined
by Ruparelia as a conceptual framework or process that considers the structure of the stages in
volved in the development of an application from its initial feasibility study through to its deploy
ment in the field and maintenance (Ruparelia, 2010, p. 8). This method is so named waterfall
because the stages of the SDLC cascade down through the stages of product consideration, re
quirements, analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and review/maintenance. In the
1970s, Winston Royce built on the waterfall modelto incorporate iteration and stage review. Royce
s intent was to address the central role that the design phase plays in minimizing risks by being re
visited several times (Ruparelia, 2010, p. 8). This later form of the waterfall model assumes that
continual feedback is required to ensure additional updates/improvements are implemented, and is
therefore necessitated by the requisite updates that subsequent testing phases bring to light. The
most significant difference between the original waterfall method of Benington and Royce s
modified form is the need to re iterate and validate that no further updates/revisions are required in
prior stages before moving on to the next phase. In some circumstances, there may even be a need
to skip a previous phase to

when you kind of just want to re watch something that you have already enjoyed before.
Interviewer:Yeah.
Michael:But that is sort of the only interactivity that I have, I suppose.
Interviewer:Cool, so, you have said that you have been watching TV for quite some time now in
your life and that obviously advertising when you were growing up were these traditional
commercial interactions, have you noticed, if at all, how advertising has changed throughout that
period or what comes to mind?
Michael:You know, that is a tough question. I don t think that I have really noticed, necessarily a
change in advertising, but it may just be that my level of engagement with it has never been high
to begin with. So, it s possible that it has gotten sort of more sophisticated then when I was much
younger, but again, my level of engagement was never that high to begin with, so I don t think that
I ever really thought about it or how it has changed, but I am sure it has, in some ways.
Interviewer:When you are binge watching for instance, do you, you know, through ads, can you do
that? Can you ever binge watch with

Thank You 4 Your Service Analysis
Thank You 4 Your Album
Despite this iconic rap group not releasing an album since 1998, in, We Got It From Here...
Thank You 4 Your Service, they don t miss a beat. A Tribe Called Quest takes a step back in their
sixth and final album to dish out their social commentary on controversial topics like the
environment, race, and politics. This group was formed in 1985 and is composed of some of the
most respected names in hip hop, being Q Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Jarobi White and the late
Phife Dawg. Phife s sudden death due to diabetes in March 2016 acted as a catalyst for this album,
even choosing the name that Phife originally wanted. In this final album they focus on the political

The use of swears for dramatic effect is effectively used in Ego and We The People. Moreover,
strong language can increase the passion of the message you are trying to convey. However,
swears and vulgarity can cheapen a song too, as we see in Enough!! This piece about the
difficulties of having love in a busy time in your life is somewhat lost in its tasteless lyrics. It
disrupts the album s ability to be taken seriously by being played alongside tracks that talk about
the real issues with a more refined language. Socially conscious songs like Conrad Tokyo make
the album worthwhile, without becoming too preachy. This song, Whateva Will Be and Space
Program are the most poignant when discussing how these artists feel blacks are viewed in
society. In Whateva Will Be, Phife highlights the disadvantages of minorities when he sings, Say
am I posed to be dead or doin life in prison?Just another dummy caught up in the system. They
speak to their own truth, and get to the core of what they think is wrong. Holding a mirror up to
society is never easy, but doing it in 60 minutes and 18 seconds of rhythmic is transcendent. In We
The People there is seamless transition between Phife Dawg Q Tip, almost as if they can read
eachothers minds. This album features the notable performers Elton John, AndrГ© 300, Kendrick
Lamar, Busta Rhymes and Jack White. The combination of old and new musicians is in theme for

Of Mice and Men Essay
ГўOf Mice and MenГў is the fictional short novel written by John Steinbeck in 1937. SteinbeckГўs
perspective when writing the novel could be based on the fact that he had once worked on a ranch

the cause of the very enduring culmination that takes place in the novel due to the many problems

The Discovery Of Penicillin During World War II
In 1928, after the careless mistake of forgetting to clean his dishes, Alexander Fleming discovered
penicillin. The scientific community still celebrates his discovery since it was a major
breakthrough in science, especially in the antibiotics and fermentation field. Although his discovery
changed various scientific fields and it opened the doors for research in areas not studied or
considered relevant before, the actual usefulness of penicillinwas truly reached until the large scale
production of penicillin was achieved. Before its manufacturing penicillin was considered for
researching purposes, but after its manufacturing during World War II, it truly became helpful for
humanity because it could finally start performing within its antibiotic spectrum. Although it is true
that the discovery of penicillin was attributed to Alexander Fleming, the response of the rest of the
scientific community was crucial in order to achieve the large scale production of penicillin. After
the incalculable loss of life during World War II, the scientific community was urged to unite and
work together for the development of the large scale production of penicillin. Faced with the
challenge of producing a sufficient amount of penicillin in order to start shipping it as an antibiotic,
scientists from all over the world started working on feasible fermentation methods to make their set
goal a reality. The first attempt started with Norman Heatley, an Oxford biochemist.

Mary Rowlandson And Benjamin Franklin
Every colonist that came to America had their own perceptions of its inhabitants. The majority of
these people believed the Native Americans were savages because their culture differed from the
colonists. To the colonists, everything needed to be proper. The way they dressed, whether or not
they went to church, or how they raised their children needed to be up to code. If not, their fellow
colonists looked differently at them. The natives were entirely different. Their goal was simply to
survive, and they were conducting survival the best way they knew how to. The differences
between the two cultures led to many severe problems. Mary Rowlandson and Benjamin Franklin
had two entirely different views of the Native Americans, based upon their encounters with them.
Mary Rowlandson believed the Native Americans were savage, blood thirsty creatures that were
either going to kill or be killed. In her story, she supports her claim by using vivid imagery of a
major event that took place during her lifetime. A very interesting quote from Rowlandson s
literature is It is a solemn sight to see so many Christians lying in their blood, some here, and
some there, like a company of sheep torn by wolves, all of them stripped naked by a company of
hell hounds, roaring, singing, ranting, and insulting, as if they would have torn our very hearts out
(Rowlandson). This quote uses an incredible amount of imagery and allows the reader to see just
how Rowlandson feels about the natives.

The White Heron By Sarah Jewett
In the short story the White Heron (1886), Sarah Jewett portrays a young little girl, Sylvia, bear the
temptation of money and affection from the young man with mental struggle, and resolutely
determined to protect the fairy of nature a white heron. Through describing Sylvia s authentic
emotions and using of vivid theme colors and exquisite word choice, Jewett delivers the story like
showing a lifelike 19 century country life drama in front of the readers.
The beauty of the story is about authentically conveying the author s emotion experience, depicting
the true feeling of the characters, and delivering the thought process by putting readers into their
shoes, in order to create resonance with the readers, like her emotion for the love of nature, for her
struggle towards money, and for the crush she had towards the hunter. Sylvia s love of nature
showed from As for Sylvia herself, it seemed as if she had never been alive at all before she
came to live at the farm. (5) . She found her real self here, embracing the nature, knowing every
life that lived here, and fully enjoying the freedom in the woods, just like a jungle fairy.
Sylvia s struggle towards the hunter is also lifelike. The hunter used the money to tempt Sylvia,
which drove her crazy. No amount of thought, could decide how many wished for treasure the ten
dollars, so lightly spoken, would buy . (13) It is the original and authentic feeling that most kids can
get, but the author didn t omit the impact of money

  • 2. Remember The Alamo Thesis Whenever I hear someone say, Remember the Alamo I can t help but think of how Texas won its Independence from Mexico and changed the entire history of the United States. In 1836, the Mexican Army being led by the Dictator, President Santa Anna had its sights set on taking everything that it could from the people of Texas, while in route as they marched their way toward the San Antonio mission known as the Alamo. The Alamo was one of two fortified missions that were quickly established as preparation for defense against the Mexican Army which were advancing from either one or two different main roads that were potential options to them as avenues of approach. Texas had now received its full diplomatic recognition from the Mexican Government. Santa Anna s pride had gotten the best of him in the long run. Before making that decision to break down his forces he had marched almost all the way across Texas and defeated every Army or planned resistance in his path. Due to his mistakes his reign of terror had finally ended. If he had not been stopped, who knows how much further he and his Army could have taken over and destroyed. This is ... • 3. The World s First Atomic Bomb What started out as a secret, yet modest research project, headed by the United States Army Corp of Engineers in the borough of New York City, soon escalated into the largest and most expensive operation the country had ever performed. With a cost of over two billion dollars what was to become known as the Manhattan Projectemployed tens of thousands of people who lived and worked in three top secret locations. The project consisted of the country s best and brightest scientists. All of whom were in an urgent race against their German counter parts. With World War II raging in Europe everyone involved was acutely aware that the ruthless dictator Hitler would not stop until his scientists had created the worst weapon the world had ever seen. A weapon of mass destruction. And so, in order to defeat Germany and save millions of lives the Manhattan Project scientists strove to win the race to build the world s first atomic bomb. In 1938 German chemists Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassmann were bombarding uraniumwith neutrons and discovering that they were left with the new substance barium. They did not quite understand why this was occurring and corresponded with their colleague Lise Meitner. Meitner was able to form an explanation by taking into consideration the earlier discoveries of physicists Neils Bohr and Albert Einstein. According to the Berkeley Nuclear Research Center, she concluded that uranium nuclei had split to form barium and krypton, accompanied by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Jetblue Negative Issues In 2005, among other major airlines in the United States, JetBlue was known to be one of the highest in customer service (Argenti, 2017, p. 102). They were ranked the highest because they served and valued their customers to the best they could, and tried to provide them with the best service during their flights. JetBlue served their signature Terra Blues potato ships, free satellite television in every leather seat, legroom, among other attentive services (Argenti, 2017, p. 102). JetBlue had a valuable reputation; however, all that changed due to deteriorating weather condition. As mentioned in the reading, due to the deteriorating weather caused at the New York s John F. Kennedy International Airport, critical constituency issues were arising within JetBlue s customers and their own employees. More than 250 of its 505 flights daily canceled and had an outcome of 1,200 flights canceled between February 14 and February 19 (Argenti, 2016, p. 105). Because of the widespread of cancellations, this caused loss of baggage s which enraged customers. However, one of the biggest errors that caused constituency issue was when JetBlue trapped their customers inside the plane for over nine hours before they were taken to their terminal (Argenti, 2017, p. 104). These issues ruin JetBlue s reputation within their potential customers because they now feared that they could lose their baggage, have their flights canceled or even worse, be trapped inside the plane for numerous of hours. ... Looking to the right Ravens Roost overlooks the Shenandoah Valley, the most distinguishable areas being Stuarts Draft. Ravens Roost holds a significant place in my heart, soul, and brain and continues to amaze me with its beauty time after time. The first time I ventured up to Ravens Roost was the weekend before finals week at Governor s school in late April. I was stressing out over all of the things I had going on in the coming days when my friends suggested we take a trip up on the mountain. We were not sure where we would end up. We were searching for a perfect spot to watch the sunset and stopped at three or four other overlooks before reaching Ravens Roost. As we parked at Ravens Roost the sun was just starting to set, casting its shadow over the mountain. We wrapped up in blankets and sat on the rock retaining wall, taking in the beauty before us. For whatever reason, the sunset that night was particularly sunning. As the blazing light from the day was receding it was turning the air around the sun lovely shades of pink, orange, and violet. As we took in the landscape before us I started pointing out the landmarks we could make out down in the valley. The buildings of Hollister Inc. and Hershey stood out from the ... Hayek, hold very different economic viewpoints. Keynes is among the most famous economic philosophers. Keynes, who s theories gained a reputation during the Great Depression in the 1930s, focused mainly on an economy s bust. It is where the economy declines and finally bottoms out, that Keynesian economics believes the answers lie for its eventual recovery. Roosevelt s New Deal contained huge federal expenditures and government jobs programs, all designed to boost AD. These programs, including direct relief, were paid by taxpayers dollars and the tax rates rose dramatically multiple times during the Great Depression. F. A. Hayek, the other economic thinker of the twentieth century, believed that the way to stabilize a broken economy was to find solution from the boom that preceded the current bust. The Hayek supported Austrian theory sought a connection among business cycles, capital theory, and monetary theory. Hayek believed an economy started going downhill when people did not coordinate their actions. The spontaneous order of the free market and price system usually does a fantastic job of coordinating people s actions. Traditions begin as early as two hours before tip off when the student doors are opened and allow the players peers to rush in for a spot close to the court. The sections reserved for students are the lower sections behind both goals, and the northwest corner of Allen Fieldhouse. The band begins playing a melody of popular songs 45 minutes before the game begins. By now, the stands are already filled to capacity, and the general admission ticket holders begin filing in. There is a lot of casual conversation between the students, only to be interrupted when the band plays certain songs; students yell out Tequila! during the song Tequila by The Champs, and sing along to the entirety of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. These songs are fun traditions, but the more deeply rooted KU tradition concerning music is the singing of the Alma Mater before the game begins. The Alma Mater is a modified version of Crimson and the Blue to only include the first verse and the chorus. Students wrap their arms around each other and sway side to side. They bellow out the song as a guest performer sings over the sound system. At the end of the song comes the lyric Hail to old KU, which signals the students to point to the sky with both arms which forms a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Service Quality Is An Antecedent Of Perceived Value Essay Service quality is an antecedent of perceived value, and it will cause a significant influence on perceived value (Bojanic, 1996; Oh, 1999; Sweeney et al., 1999). Ostrom Iacobucci (1995) found that price, level of quality, friendliness of service personnel, and the degree of customization of the service are important factors to customer value perceptions. Although customer perceived value has long been recognized in marketing research as an important concept in influencing preference, satisfaction, loyalty, and other important outcomes (Cronin et al., 2000), most studies have examined customer value in the context of offline rather than online customer behavior (Overby Lee, 2006). Although customer perceived value in the online shopping environment is of crucial importance, previous studies have neglected that variable (Chang et al., 2005). In an online environment, customers can find alternatives easily; therefore building long term relationships presents a more difficult challenge for E commerce companies (Chang Wang, 2011). Gummerus (2010) investigated the impact of three resource inputs (i.e., service content, service process, and service configurations) on the perceptions of value of a Finnish health care website. The results reveal that the service content of the discussion groups had the strongest relationship with customer value, followed by article content and database content. The technique consists of decomposing the gap between actual revenue and potential revenue into components attributable to changes in (i) the tax rate structure (ii) deductions and (iii) tax evasion.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Section 3 we discuss empirical implementation. We present the results of the decomposition for the Indian income tax in Section 4. Section 5 concludes. 2. Decomposing Income Tax Revenue Changes Before formally setting out the decomposition, we explain its logic. Comparisons of revenue performance are made with a pre selected (here pre reform) base year. In order to examine revenue loss, we define potential revenue at base year tax rates as the revenue that would obtain in the absence of base erosion due to deductions and evasion, if the base year tax rate structure was in operation. Conceptually, to arrive at potential revenue we tax potential DECOMPOSING REVENUE EFFECTS 179 income, which we take as given.6 Deductions and exclusions (other than for costs of earning income) cause taxable income to be narrower than potential income. Due to tax evasion by, for example, failing to file a return, understating receipts or overstating expenses, potential income itself may not be fully revealed to tax authorities. What the decomposition analysis does is to separate the difference between potential revenue and revenue actually collected in any year into components reflecting losses due to tax schedule changes, base erosion, and evasion. Potential revenues will, however, differ across years, even if the tax schedule is unchanged, due to changes in aggregate income and its distribution. To account for this, we normalize the difference ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Agricultural Problem Solving: Are Farm Subsidies Working in the United States? • 38. The Software Development Life Cycle Essay The waterfall method is a linear, sequential, non iterative process for software development first mentioned by Herbert Benington in 1956. The software development life cycle (SDLC) is defined by Ruparelia as a conceptual framework or process that considers the structure of the stages in volved in the development of an application from its initial feasibility study through to its deploy ment in the field and maintenance (Ruparelia, 2010, p. 8). This method is so named waterfall because the stages of the SDLC cascade down through the stages of product consideration, re quirements, analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and review/maintenance. In the 1970s, Winston Royce built on the waterfall modelto incorporate iteration and stage review. Royce s intent was to address the central role that the design phase plays in minimizing risks by being re visited several times (Ruparelia, 2010, p. 8). This later form of the waterfall model assumes that continual feedback is required to ensure additional updates/improvements are implemented, and is therefore necessitated by the requisite updates that subsequent testing phases bring to light. The most significant difference between the original waterfall method of Benington and Royce s modified form is the need to re iterate and validate that no further updates/revisions are required in prior stages before moving on to the next phase. In some circumstances, there may even be a need to skip a previous phase to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Importance Of Binge Viewing What comes to mind when I think of binge watching? I guess, in a very technical sense, its watching more than a couple episodes of something. I see the term, less connected with watching movies. I suppose you could binge watch movies, but I think that the term has more connotations with television programs rather than movies. To me, I think binge watching implies that you are watching multiple episodes of some kind of series. I don t know, I don t think there is any, and maybe there is, in a scholastic scenes, but I don t think that there is any hard and fast definition of watching this amount or these amount of episodes for this long, equals binge watching. Michael:But that is sort of the only interactivity that I have, I suppose. Interviewer:Cool, so, you have said that you have been watching TV for quite some time now in your life and that obviously advertising when you were growing up were these traditional commercial interactions, have you noticed, if at all, how advertising has changed throughout that period or what comes to mind? Michael:You know, that is a tough question. I don t think that I have really noticed, necessarily a change in advertising, but it may just be that my level of engagement with it has never been high to begin with. So, it s possible that it has gotten sort of more sophisticated then when I was much younger, but again, my level of engagement was never that high to begin with, so I don t think that I ever really thought about it or how it has changed, but I am sure it has, in some ways. The use of swears for dramatic effect is effectively used in Ego and We The People. Moreover, strong language can increase the passion of the message you are trying to convey. However, swears and vulgarity can cheapen a song too, as we see in Enough!! This piece about the difficulties of having love in a busy time in your life is somewhat lost in its tasteless lyrics. It disrupts the album s ability to be taken seriously by being played alongside tracks that talk about the real issues with a more refined language. Socially conscious songs like Conrad Tokyo make the album worthwhile, without becoming too preachy. This song, Whateva Will Be and Space Program are the most poignant when discussing how these artists feel blacks are viewed in society. In Whateva Will Be, Phife highlights the disadvantages of minorities when he sings, Say am I posed to be dead or doin life in prison?Just another dummy caught up in the system. • 44. The Discovery Of Penicillin During World War II In 1928, after the careless mistake of forgetting to clean his dishes, Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin. The scientific community still celebrates his discovery since it was a major breakthrough in science, especially in the antibiotics and fermentation field. Although his discovery changed various scientific fields and it opened the doors for research in areas not studied or considered relevant before, the actual usefulness of penicillinwas truly reached until the large scale production of penicillin was achieved. Before its manufacturing penicillin was considered for researching purposes, but after its manufacturing during World War II, it truly became helpful for humanity because it could finally start performing within its antibiotic spectrum. Although it is true that the discovery of penicillin was attributed to Alexander Fleming, the response of the rest of the scientific community was crucial in order to achieve the large scale production of penicillin. After the incalculable loss of life during World War II, the scientific community was urged to unite and work together for the development of the large scale production of penicillin. Faced with the challenge of producing a sufficient amount of penicillin in order to start shipping it as an antibiotic, scientists from all over the world started working on feasible fermentation methods to make their set goal a reality. • 45. Mary Rowlandson And Benjamin Franklin Every colonist that came to America had their own perceptions of its inhabitants. The majority of these people believed the Native Americans were savages because their culture differed from the colonists. To the colonists, everything needed to be proper. The way they dressed, whether or not they went to church, or how they raised their children needed to be up to code. If not, their fellow colonists looked differently at them. The natives were entirely different. Their goal was simply to survive, and they were conducting survival the best way they knew how to. The differences between the two cultures led to many severe problems. Mary Rowlandson and Benjamin Franklin had two entirely different views of the Native Americans, based upon their encounters with them. Mary Rowlandson believed the Native Americans were savage, blood thirsty creatures that were either going to kill or be killed. In her story, she supports her claim by using vivid imagery of a major event that took place during her lifetime. A very interesting quote from Rowlandson s literature is It is a solemn sight to see so many Christians lying in their blood, some here, and some there, like a company of sheep torn by wolves, all of them stripped naked by a company of hell hounds, roaring, singing, ranting, and insulting, as if they would have torn our very hearts out (Rowlandson). This quote uses an incredible amount of imagery and allows the reader to see just how Rowlandson feels about the natives. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
