Deborah Tannen Summary
Language is used all around the world. Men and women have various ways of using language. There
are many factors in using language such as: regional, ethic, and class backgrounds; gender; and age
(Tannen 214). Deborah Tannen How Male and Female Students Use Language differently elaborates
on this topic adequately. Tannen elaborates male and female language patterns, the debate type
teaching formats used in college classrooms, and the different male and female attitudes toward vocal
expressions exercises used in the classroom that creates a dissatisfying environment for females. Ms.
Tannen mainly focuses on the languages differences of men and women. She concludes that different
classroom strategies need to be studied and applied in order to accentuate and improve student
participation in the classroom from both males and females. In analyzing this paper, three things are
evident. One must consider how men and women bond differently, how speaking in a classroom is
more adaptable to men in a debate scenario, and how men and women communicate and participate in
a group exercise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As children grow up, they learn how to communicate in various ways. One learns when and who to
share his or her troubles with, how to bond with fellow classmates, and how to express feelings by
using language. Tannen states that many women bond by talking about troubles, and many men bond
by exchanging playful insults and put downs (Tannen 215). . Tannen s research in You Just Don t
Understand: Women and Men in Conversation shows that the differences between the communication
patterns of men and women go beyond social occasions, and appear to be in the basic forms of the
opposite sex. Men use communication to maintain independence, while women talk to maintain
intimacy (Morrison 1). Female students often find that males like to hide their feelings and speak
undemonstrative outside the classroom

The Efficacy Of Decisions In The Price By Arthur Miller
The Price of Decisions
In The Price written by Arthur Miller, in 1968, Manhattan Brownstone, Victor Franz, a cop, who
believes he is a failure, returned to his childhood home to sell his parents estate. He hired an appraiser,
Gregory Solomon, a salesman who is 90 years old and has experienced it all, to sell the furniture. In
Act II, the audience is introduced to Victor s brother, Walter Franz. Victor was unable to fulfill his
dream of becoming a scientist to take care of his father, a victim of the Great Depression. However,
his brother Walter Franz became a doctor and left his family to pursue his career. For decades, Victor
and Walter have not properly spoken to each other and have unresolved issues in their
relationship.Victor had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I could not connect to the story and I think that affected how I feel about the play. I thought that it was
confusing when Solomon would repeatedly enter the intense conversations between Ester, Walter and
Victor. I could not decide whether or not I should laugh or not. I think the actors should have had
microphones because it was difficult to hear them with the accents, but The acting was good,
especially Danny Devito during the egg scene. It was amazing how he was able to make the egg last
and spitted it out over the course of approximately 10 minutes. I liked the comedy that was in the play
because it did not interfere with the seriousness, and drama in the play. It was interesting to see actors,
Danny DeVito and Mark Ruffalo acting in a play when they are Hollywood stars and it was difficult to
see Mark Ruffalo anything besides the Hulk. The play dramatizes the importance and difficulty of
unraveling the past, no matter what the price might

Neil Gaiman is an English writer. Gaiman is also a beekeeper, likes sushi as a comfort food, has a shed

I would like to read The Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish . When I stumbled across the title,
it caught my attention immediately. Event though it is aimed at younger readers, I still want to read it

UAVs Laws and Legislations The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has produced an expedited

Modernization and Reform Act of 2012 (P. L 1 12 95) which was signed into law by President Barack
Obama on Feb. 14, 2012. Federal, state and local government entities must obtain a COA from the

also the possibility that UAVs that carry chemical sniffers could be totally unencumbered by privacy

sectors such as environmental protection, law enforcement and various commercial activities is
apparent, they still seem not to be ready for civilian use. This is due to several reasons, including e.g.
civilian UAVs (CUAVs) requiring different technological solutions such as optimized platforms,
different endurance requirements, dedicated payloads and different ground control systems. An
additional important problem to be solved is the integration of UAVs in the civilian airspace, which
will require the adoption of civilian airworthiness standards and proven safety features. Last but not

Nigeria s Economy And Natural Resources Essay
Introduction
Nigeria is the most populated country in Africa and the seventh most populated country in the world.
It has the 20th largest economy in the world with a $500 billion to $1 trillion Gross Domestic Product
(GDP) with an emerging market and large oil and limestone natural resources. This is significant
knowing that limestone is a mineral source that is used in most products you use every day including
paper, bottles, paint, building supplies, and food. (WIKIPEDIA, 2015)
Through maximum exploration and exploitation, Nigeria can earn more foreign exchange to
complement its earnings. In addition, the utilization of this product will create job opportunities for
unemployed Nigerians and act as a job multiplier for other industries and business. Nigeria s economy
and natural resources place them in a position to become one of the largest economies in the world.
Current Events
Since 2002, the Northeast portion of the country has seen a rise in sectarian violence from Boko
Haram, an Islamic organization whose goal is to remove the current government and establish Sharia
Law. During the last three years, this group has focused on murder, human trafficking, and kidnapping
both girls for ransom and young males to train and fight. On 7 July 2014, 63 woman kidnapped by
Boko Haram escaped their captors and approximately 200 schoolgirls are still being held. This
situation has garnered outrage around the world. Even reaching the Whitehouse with support from the

Altitude Safety Essay
Changes in altitude have a profound effect on the human body. The body attempts to maintain a state
of homeostasis or balance to ensure the optimal operating environment for its complex chemical
systems. Any change from this homeostasis is a change away from the optimal operating environment.
The body attempts to correct this imbalance. One such imbalance is the effect of increasing altitude on
the body s ability to provide adequate oxygen to be utilized in cellular respiration. With an increase in
elevation, a typical occurrence when climbing mountains, the body is forced to respond in various
ways to the changes in external environment. Foremost of these changes is diminished ability to
obtain oxygen from the atmosphere. If the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the base of the pharynx are two openings. One, the esophagus, leads to the digestive system while
the other, the glottis, leads to the lungs. The epiglottis covers the glottis when swallowing so that food
does not enter the lungs. When the epiglottis is not covering the opening to the lungs air may pass
freely into and out of the trachea. The trachea sometimes called the windpipe branches into two
bronchi, which in turn lead to a lung. Once in the lung the bronchi branch many times into smaller
bronchioles, which eventually terminate in small sacs called alveoli. It is in the alveoli that the actual
transfer of oxygen to the blood takes place. The alveoli are shaped like inflated sacs and exchange gas
through a membrane. The passage of oxygen into the blood and carbon dioxide out of the blood is
dependent on three major factors: 1) the partial pressure of the gases, 2) the area of the pulmonary
surface, and 3) the thickness of the membrane (Gerking, 1969). The membranes in the alveoli provide
large surface areas for the free exchange of gasses. The typical thickness of the pulmonary membrane
is less than the thickness of a red blood cell. The pulmonary surface and the thickness of the alveolar
membranes are not directly affected related to altitude and affects gas transfer in the alveoli.
GAS TRANSFER To understand gas transfer it is important to first understand something about the
behavior of gases. Each gas in our atmosphere exerts its

Stricter Gun Control Laws
Do stricter gun control laws, equal less violence and death rates in America?
Gun control (or firearms regulation) is the set of laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale,
transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms by civilians (Wikipedia). Some presume that this
means banning guns. In actuality, gun control only acts to protect citizens through enforcing the
appropriate use of firearms; it does not ban the weapon. By implementing stricter gun laws and
regulations, there would be a large decrease in death rates and help prevent violence in America.
For instance, the United States Constitution Second Amendment declares that everyone has the right
to bear arms . The United States Constitution was written with the intention of securing all United
States citizens basic rights. Its purpose is to outline the laws of this country by mandating the powers
of the people and what the United States government considers acceptable. Despite this, people feel
the introduction of stricter gun control laws would deny them their sense of safety by violating their
right to defend themselves by the law of the Second Amendment. By allowing everyone including
criminals the ability to gain ownership of a weapon, increases violence and death rates in America.
Therefore, stricter gun control laws and regulations should be implemented. Furthermore, many
people feel that guns are not causing the problems, people that are using these weapons are. This is
partially true.

For this assignment I will be looking at the recent organisational restructure which took place in our

sector with continual improvement as a key to stay one step ahead and in the words of Isaac Asimov

Like any objective we looked at a SMART approach, (the first know use of this term being in the
November 1981 issue of Management Review by George T. Doran) first we knew what and why we
wanted to change, all steps could be measured, the plan was realistic and we had a definitive
timescale.
The basic approach was:
Specific The change from team leader to service co ordinator, reduction in staff, realignment of middle
management structure. A detailed plan of action was produced and approved befor being put into
action
Measurable Not only by way of stipulating the numbers of staff affected but as an improvement of the
service after the process is complete. By defining new job descriptions we set in initial targets for staff
to achieve.
Achievable Ensuring that there are no blocks in the way to carry out the proposed restructure. By
keeping all of those involved in the process informed and on our side we were able to guarantee the
process reaching its proposed end.
Realsitic We would look at whether this was just a quick fix or a genuine approach to improving staff

Michael Jackson Beat It
In 2009, we lost one of the greatest entertainers in music history, however his music still lives on,
inspiring and touching people s heart. I have always been a fan of Michael Jackson, and the reason
why I picked this song is because it presents a strong message. Not only did
Jackson make a powerful statement with his lyrics, he also made one with his choice of rhythm and
beats. The guitars and drums that were used, give the song a dramatic rock vibe. According to music
critics Jackson s album Thriller seemed to be inspired by a mixture of several genres which previously
were never combined ( thrilleralbum). It is pretty obvious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second verse talks about making the right choice to just go away instead of shedding blood, and
trying to be a tough guy. The third verse simply describes that even if one chooses to walk away, it is
better to be alive than to risk it. The fourth verse in my opinion talks about the consequences of
fighting and that if one chooses to be violent, chances are that they will get hurt.
As mentioned earlier the chorus defines to just walk away although No One wants To Be
Defeated. It is better to go because in the end It Doesn t Matter Who is Wrong Or Right.
Jackson uses very powerful words and explains that it is always best to look out for yourself instead of
proving yourself to others. It is not worth the struggle (songfacts).
As I was analyzing the song, I was listening for specific sounds and noises that would symbolize the
meaning of the song. I heard a police siren which could symbolize that if you get involved with gangs
and violence, you will end up in jail. I also heard a snapping sound and deep breathing sounds. The
breathing sounds could represent the sound of someone running away and catching a breath. I could
detect sounds as if someone was getting punched and sounds of blades which could represent a fight.
While searching for different meanings of the song I came across an interesting

Standardization in the 1920s Essay
The 1920s became known as an era memorable for being a time when new products, new ways of
marketing and advertising, and standardization gave the country new ways to interact, enjoy
themselves, and introduce them to new products. Although very common today, standardization of
mass culture like magazines, radio, movies, music, and sports were exciting new innovations to the
people of this time. Not only did they distract from the monotony and stresses of work but they
created celebrities that people aspired to be like. Similar to businesses standardizing in making and
advertising consumers goods, the practice of mass producing culture standardized and sped up in the

Magazines flourished. One in particular was Reader?s Digest which presented condensed pieces of
writing formerly published elsewhere. Book publishers not only sold books though bookstores but in
departments stores or through the Book of the Month Club and the Literary Guild. Jazz was a new
type of music that took the country by storm spreading by live performances, phonograph records, and
the radio. During this time the work environment of many businesses changed drastically. Businesses
began using assembly lines to speed up production and gave employees repetitive tasks to do all day
long. However, workers were getting treated a lot better. In addition to cafeterias and other employee
associations, workers were getting paid more which allowed them to have extra money to put back
into leisure time activates. Many used the time they weren?t at work to seek fulfillment in what they
lack in the workplace. Because workers were not allowed to interact with each other, the time spent
out of work was used as time to socialize with others. Celebrities became idols in American society as
a result of media promotion. Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb were both glorified as outstanding baseball

Alcohol And Anti Hypertension Medications Essay
Ethnicity and Anti hypertension Medications
Hypertension is a devastating disease state, increasing the risk for patients to develop strokes, heart
attacks, heart failure, and kidney dysfunction. It is prevalent in our population with an estimated 10
15% of Americans diagnosed with hypertension (Hitner Nagle, 2016). Hypertension is the leading
cause of cardiovascular disease (CVD), which results in nearly 1/3 of deaths annually in the United
States (Still, Ferdinand, Ogedegbe, Wright, 2015). Hypertension is more likely after the age 60, and is
more common in African American patients. It affects 40.4% of African Americans and only 27.4% of
whites, causing the African American community to carry a higher burden of hypertension related
complications (Still et al., 2015). There is evidence that suggests some anti hypertensive medications
are more effective in the African American population, including diuretics and calcium channel
blockers (Flack, Nasser, Levy, 2011). It is important to understand how ethnicity affects hypertension
medications and what medications are preferential when treating patients, especially of African
American decent.
What is Hypertension?
There are two types of hypertension (hypertension), the most common is essential hypertension and is
the result of an unknown cause. Secondary hypertension occurs when the cause can be established.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Thin Film Deposition Process
Thin film deposition is any technique for depositing a thin film of material onto a substrate or onto
previously deposited layers. thin is a relative term, but most deposition techniques allow layer
thickness to be controlled within a few nanometre and some (molecular beam epitaxy) allow single
layers of atoms to be deposited at time. it is useful in the manufacture of optics for refractive or anti
refractive coatings for instance), electronics (layers of insulators, semiconductors form integrated
circuits) and packaging (i.e. aluminium coated film).thin film can be prepared from a variety of
materials such as metals, semiconductors, insulators etc., and for this purpose various preparative
techniques have also been developed and each method has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Thin film deposition process can be divided into three basic steps:
1. Creation of film forming material (atoms, molecules, clusters).
2. Transport of the particles from source to the substrate.
3. Adsorption of the particles on the substrate and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rate of condensation of the vapours (or the deposition rate) depends not only on the evaporation
rate but also on the source geometry, its position relative to the substrate, and condensation coefficient.
The spatial distribution of the vapours from different types of sources such as point, wire, small

For the ideal case of deposition from a clean, uniformly emitting point source onto a planar substrate,
the rate of deposition varies as cos θ/r2 (Knudsen s cosine law), where r is the radial distance of the
substrate from the source and θ is the angle between the radial vector and the normal to the

Kill Garden Pesticides Experiments
Abstract: In this experiment, I want to investigate the effectiveness of different organocides in their
ability to kill garden pests. I am interested in testing this because all of the organocides claim to be
organic pesticides. This means they are safe for use on plants and contain natural ingredients. Since
they are made with all natural ingredients and do not contain any harmful chemicals, I want to see
how that will affect their ability to kill insects. My investigation will expand knowledge in this area by
determining what type of organocides are most effective in their ability to kill. The fungus Beauveria
Bassiana will be the most effective in killing garden pests because of its ability to create spores that

Insecticidal soaps have many advantages when compared to other insecticides. They are inexpensive
to use, are among the safest pesticides, leave no harsh residue, are natural products that are virtually
non toxic to animals and birds, and can be used on vegetables up to harvest (Williamson). Most
beneficial insects are not harmed by soap sprays. Soaps are fatty acids that can degrade or dissolve the
protective layers of the insect cuticle, causing the insect to desiccate. Insecticidal soaps kill by
suffocation. They disrupt the cellular membranes of the insect, and they remove protective waxes that
cover the insect, resulting in dehydration (Williamson). Insecticidal soaps are considered nontoxic to
humans and many beneficial insects, but selectively kill certain pest insects (Murray 6). Insecticidal
soaps breakdown easily in the environment, and therefore they do not stay in the environment (Pundt).
It is less likely that resistance to insecticidal soaps will develop as quickly as to the more traditional
pesticides. Resistance within the insect tends to develop more quickly with materials that have a very
specific mode of action (Pundt). My investigation will expand knowledge in this area by determining
what type of organocides are most effective in their killing ability. It

Compare And Contrast Love And Hate
Love Hate I never understood what people meant when they d say there s a fine line between love and

similar at the same time. After living a little and doing much research I think I finally understand both

The Effects Of Huey Long s Bills Affecting Our State
Has anyone here ever stopped and wondered why LSU is the size it is today or why there never seems
to be a shortage of schools wherever you go in the state. Whether you have or not, these are both
causes of Huey Long s bills affecting our state, also known as the reign of the Kingfish. Huey Pierce
Long was born on August 30, 1893, in the town of Winnfield located in Winn Parish to Mrs.
Caledonia Long and Mr. Huey Long, Sr. The young Huey was the seventh of nine children (his
younger siblings being named Earl and Lucille), and he lived the life of a farmer s child. Although he
lived in an environment that offered little time for leisure or even education, Huey s parents
emphasized education in each of their children s lives along with individual expression and
competition. The family was also a group of astute Christians with their daily Bible studies, attending
church twice a week, and frequent attendance to gospel revivals.
As Huey grew, there was no school for him to go too. Therefore, his mother home schooled him with
his eight siblings until a formal education was accessible. While being homeschooled, Huey studied
penmanship, writing, math, history, classic literature, and poetry along with the Bible being the
mainstay of his teachings. By age eleven, Long started going to a public school in fourth grade. He
was far ahead and bored by the teachings. He eventually persuaded his teacher to let him skip seventh
grade. He further continued onto the completion of

Definitions And Historical View Of Gartner
1.3.1.3.1 IoT Definitions and Historical View
Gartner (2015) forecasts that in 2020 almost 20 billion devices will be connected together and form
the Internet of Things (IoT) of the future, which is a rise by fairly 2000% from 0.9 billion in 2009
(Gartner.com, 2015).
The topic of IoT has hoarded much interest to the point that it has been classified as a disruptive
technology (Downes, 2013, Feki et al., 2013). The concept of the Internet of Things is not new; it has
been around since the early 90s. It has been envisioned in many forms yet all the different visions
have one thing in common, the connectedness of devices (Donovan, 2014). In 1991, it was already
foretold that specialized elements of hardware and software connected together ... Show more content

Moreover, the Internet of Things, or as called by others, the Internet of Everything is a seen as a global
network of devices and machines that have the ability to interact and communicate with each other
(Kortuem et al., 2010, Lee and Lee, 2015). Seven years later, the International Telecommunication
Community adapted the definition of IoT in the ITU T Y.2060 (06/2012) publication stating that the
IoT is a global infrastructure for the information society that enables advanced services by
interconnecting physical and virtual things on the foundation of current and developing information
and communication technologies (ITU, 2015).
In addition to how the IoT has been defined by the ITU, there have been many variations of the
definition that revolve around the same centre but adapted to the view of the organisational entity that
is looking at the IoT model. In Atzori, Iera and Morabito (2010), the authors gather and funnel the
different IoT visions that had been proposed over the past years into three main groups. These groups
are: (1) Things oriented, where the emphasis is on the objects and finding models to integrate them,
(2) Internet oriented, where the focus is on different networking possibilities that would establish
efficient connections between the objects, and (3) Semantic oriented, which by using semantic
technologies the

Analysis of Two Articles on Trash Disposal
First I will summarize an excerpt out of Heather Roger s essay, Gone Tomorrow: The Hidden Life of
Garbage published in 2005. Second I will summarize Lars Eighner essay On Dumpster Diving
published in 1995. Our government needs to immediately enforce a set of strict standardized laws that
carefully regulate and monitor the disposal of todays and more importantly tomorrow trash. I will
argue that this is necessary for large corporations and businesses to deduce their consumption. Finally
I will argue that we need to educate the public about the importance and need to restrict our
consumption to secure our future.

In order for environmental change to happen society needs to see the significance of trash. To make
sense of that recall a time were you forgot to take the trash out and days later were reminded by the
rotten stench? Now multiply the stench of that 1 bag 2 million times. To help you further understand
let s put this in mathematical terms. Let s say on average 1 garbage bag weighs 20Lbs. that equates to
1bag=20lbs x 2,000,000 = 40 million putrid bags. This equation has opened my eyes. Rogers s
argument that Landfills should be in public places is a good one. Society is sheltered from Landfills:
so they are out of sight therefore out of mind. If we can t see the pollution we can t change our carbon
foot print.
Heather Roger claims our current garbage disposal methods are short term and etiquette. Rogers s
position is clear that we need to minimize the use of landfills and create better means to discard trash.
In supporting Rogers s environment views I think that we need to create a more economic and
environmental friendly garbage disposal system. Heather Rogers and Lars Eighner both acknowledge
the issue with society s throwaway mentality. Eighner proves that we throw away perfectly working
stuff, having survived off others discarded materials. Eighner argues against excessive waste we create
but does not have any prospected solutions. Whereas Rogers acknowledges the obvious need to
minimize our consumption of waste but argues the need

Hierarchy Of Needs Theory Maslow
Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs Theory (Humanistic Theory of Self Actualisation) originally comprised
five levels of needs, usually represented as a pyramid, which in itself is a clever concept because like a
pyramid each layer needs the preceding layer to be firmly in place before the next layer can be
achieved which is probably the ideology of Maslow s theory. Maslow differs from Freud s theory in
that he takes a pragmatic approach, emphasising the importance of the positive to promote a positive
state of mind in the here and now , rather than the in depth psychoanalysis emphasising what is wrong
with me approach of Freud. Maslow accepted that all humans have certain personality traits, such as
boring, reserved, silly, aggressive; however, he believed most people have the potential to elevate

Comparative Analysis of Antibiotic Growth Suppression of Staphylococcus Aureus
Introduction
Staphylococcus Aureus is a gram negative bacterium that may be pathogenic or exist as a commensal
organism in humans. Unevolved strains are susceptible to nearly all antibiotics (Chambers DeLeo,
2009). Among the many antibiotic options, penicillin is particularly effective against S. Aureus. This is
due to the mechanism of action by which penicillin replaces key structures in the bacterial cell wall
that are essential to growth and repair. By preventing this cell maintenance, penicillin promotes
osmotic instability in the cell and greatly increases the likelihood of cell death (Strominger Tipper
1965). In a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recent research by Khokhlova et al. found that MRSA cases among S. Aureus isolates across Siberia
were found at a rate of 22% in hospitals, compared to a community infection rate of 2.9% (2015).
Traditional antibiotic treatments such as penicillin are often proven ineffective in these cases, as in the
case of Fomda et al., which found a resistance rate of 85.46% at a tertiary care hospital (2014). The
goal of this experiment is to determine whether different antibiotics will inhibit bacterial growth of S.
Aureus. The hypothesis is that all three antibiotics used (penicillin, gentamicin, and kanamycin) will
inhibit growth. If a zone of inhibition is observed around each antibiotic disk, then the hypothesis will
be supported demonstrating the bacteria s susceptibility to the subject antibiotics. By demonstrating
the efficacy of various different antibiotics and comparing them to one another in context of the target
bacteria, combined with the gram stain results of S. Aureus, the results may be further analyzed and
explained.
Methods
Five agar plates were prepared with evenly distributed S. Aureus bacteria. After being marked into
four equal quadrants, an antibiotic disk was gently placed in each section of each plate. The levels of
treatment in the 4 disks were 10 micrograms of gentamicin, 10 micrograms of penicillin, and 30
micrograms of kanamycin, with a control group of an identical

A Report On Covenant Capital Management
Covenant Capital Management was founded in 1999, and since then, it increasingly grew its AUM to
approximately $300 million for its clients around the world. The firm s headquarters are located in
Nashville; in addition, they have a fully redundant branch office in Chicago. The founders, Brince
Wilford and Scot Billington, focus their effort on the refinement of their core strategy which has not
changed since the inception of the firm. CCM partners with select institutional clients in the
development of customized trading models that achieve specific risk and return stream objectives.
Covenant Capital Management is a Boutique CTA designed to fill the void between small CTA with
no track records and huge institutional funds that are too big to take good care of the small investors.
CCM wants to be a CTA that offers the best of both worlds, using innovative trading model that yields
unique and reliable return streams as well as institutional grade infrastructure. The firm remains small
enough to have decent exposure to all market sectors yet secure enough to have institutional grade
compliance, technology, and back office services.
The goal of this paper is to explain why CCM s aggressive program is a good alternative to any
investor looking to diversify its portfolio. The paper will be divided in three distinct parts: the
operational analysis, the quantitative analysis and a comparison against its peers (including the impact
of CCM in a traditional portfolio).

Essay about Islam
When the Soviet Union collapsed and the cold war came to an end, the world felt as if it were on the
edge of unlimited peace and prosperity. Unfortunately, new issues came to light, such as terrorism.
Terrorism is defined by Title 22 of the United States code, section 2656(d) as the pre meditated,
politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by sub national groups or
clandestine agents, usually intended to influence an audience. In light of recent terrorist activity in the

In the Quranic verse 3:30, God tells believers that acts reflect the soul of their authors, which explains
why jihad is widely represented in the minds of Muslim and non Muslim individuals in the acts
committed in the name of Islam, such as acts of terrorism.
Although jihads contains many underlying values, such as equality, peace, and purity, the most
important value of jihad is justice. Muslims view justice mainly in the realm of social interaction. An
example of social interaction where justice is an issue would be a court trial, family accountability,
and particularly government interaction. When these social institutions become seemingly unjust, it is
then that the call of jihad seems most logical. The West s understanding of jihad as a holy war is a
misnomer. The war provoked by jihad is not holy in and of itself. War is purely an attempt to bring
holiness through infinite justice. It is ironic that Islam is sometimes held to be a synonym for
terrorism, when the very word Islam comes from the root word salaam in Arabic, meaning peace.
Even though Western Islamic apologist claim that the Quran does not justify any form of violence, in
certain cases Islam tolerates, permits, and encourages war and war like acts. According to the Quran,
Muslims must always oppose oppression, but if there is ever a way to avoid war or violence it must be
taken. Most of the problem of jihad in Arab and Islamic nations is clarifying who is eligible to declare
jihad.

Models Of Abnormal Psychology
There are various models of abnormality. Such models include the biological model, psychodynamic
model, behavioral model, cognitive model, humanistic existential model, and the sociocultural model.
Models of abnormality explain the causes and treatments for all psychological illnesses. Psychologists
don t believe in all of these models, they are considered theories due to being based off a psychologist
s own beliefs and assumptions. These theories are even more complex as many have theories within
themselves. This proves that psychology is ever expanding, fascinating, and complex.

Environmental Issues Of Human Rights Violations
At both the international and domestic levels, defining the environmental issues as human rights
violations in legal terms is a complex task. However, in the last decade, petitions and suit cases against
climate change issue were gradually filed. In 2006, the first suit case against the Environmental
Protection Agency was reached to the U.S Supreme Court (Aminzade, 2006). A petition claimed that
climate change through emissions and air pollutants caused harm to public health and welfare. This
case grabbed the attention of multiple environmental agencies; it also gained support from political
and human rights activists figures (Aminzade, 2006). Another petition in 2004 by Inuit claimed that
the U.S climate change policy violated the human rights to life, the right to health, and movement
(Goldberg Wagner, 2004). The Inuit petition describes how climate change is affecting the Arctic
environment on which the Inuit depend. It argued that climate change violates the Inuit rights,
including the right to life, health, and property. Based on the petition, the Inuit s right to life is violated
because critical food resources are threatened by climate change, and unpredicted weather events can
cause loss of life (Knox, 2009). The Inuit community also argued that climate change interferes with
their right to health by damaging fish on which they depend on for nutrients, and by diminishing the
quality of their drinking water and increasing the spread of diseases (Knox, 2009).

Fear No Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are one of three macronutrients. They are an important energy source, specifically for
the brain and the spinal cord. Carbs tend to be given a bad image causing many people to avoid them.
Doing this can lead to possible health problems if you do not consume the accurate amount of
carbohydrates on a daily basis. There are many positive health benefits to making sure we consume
enough carbohydrates as well as negative effects if we do not consume enough good carbs each day.
Carbohydrates tend to be put into a negative light; there are many diets out there called no carb or low
carb but are these doing our bodies any good? When many hear the word carbs they tend to jump
straight to bread, pastas, and cookies. However, this is not true many fruits, vegetables, nuts, and

participants of low carb diets had a 30% higher risk of death from all causes in the long run. On
average humans should be consuming 130 (g.) of carbohydrates a day in order to supply the brain with

CONSERVATION OF ENERGY
OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this experiment is to calculate the gravitational potential energy through experimental
values, to calculate the theoretical potential energy given the experimental kinetic energy in an
isolated system while also using the kinetic energy to find the spring constant, and to compare kinetic
energies and potential energies in an isolated system to see if they are equivalent.
METHOD
To calculate the gravitational potential energy through experimental values, we dropped a racquetball
from a height of one meter and measured the height at which the ball bounced back up from the
ground. These values were used to find the total mechanical energy that was ... Show more content on

Therefore, the initial kinetic energy and the final potential energy should be equivalent. Knowing this,
we can solve for the height the ball should have reached knowing the initial kinetic energy.
12mv2= mgh
Because mass is on both sides of the equation, it can be cancelled out, and the kinetic energy needs to
be divided by g in order to find the height, in meters, that the ball should have reached at its maximum
potential energy.
v22g= h
Now, substituting the average velocity from the short range experiment into this formula, we can find
the height the ball should have reached.
3.3822g= h
h= .58 m
The ball should have reached a height of .58 m at maximum potential energy with short range settings.
Medium Range:
5.4322g= h
h= 1.50 m
The ball should have reached a height of 1.5 m at maximum potential energy with medium range
settings.
Long Range:
7.1422g= h
h= 2.60 m
The ball should have reached a height of 2.6 m at maximum potential energy with the long range
settings.
None of the experimental values showed the ball reaching the height at which maximum potential
energy was to have occurred. Every trial measurement fell short of that value (was less than). This
would most likely be due to air resistance as it would be acting in the opposite direction of the ball s
path, making the ball s distance traveled less than what would have been theorized.

Analysis Of The Omaha
Omaha. Omaha is one of the places that when it is cold it is cold. When it is hot it is hot. It is so hot
that you do not even sweat because the heat just swipes it off your face. It was one of those days that if
you stepped outside you would be as red and crisp as a tomato. I am Rebekka Dunn and am known for
passing out in extreme heat and taking a while to wake up. Today of course we have to have a five
hour tournament. I pull on my blue long sleeve shirt and slip on my black spandex. Our uniform has to
be long sleeve making it even hotter for myself and my team. I pull up my long white blonde hair and
secure it with a black and white rubber band. I quickly put a smear of mascara on my long black
eyelashes and see my eyes really are blue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once my mom and I are finally in the car we turn on the music to a hip hop channel and start belting
out songs. I have the air all the way up, and my windows are all the way down. I have my head right
next to and almost out of the window. The heat hits me and I start to feel nauseous. I sit back down
and just close my eyes until we get to Millard West. Once we get to Millard West, I see my friend
Savanna and tell my mom bye and I love her. Savanna and I run in and start doing stretches with our
team. Once we are all stretched out, we grab some balls to start serving. I am already sweating a mile
a minute and I go to the line to serve. I serve a perfect ball and go to grab another one just as the
whistle blows. We run up and start to say the pledge. Win or lose... I start to feel faint and the words
and colors are blending together. The next thing I know I see people standing above me and feel I am
soaking wet. I start to get up but am ushered down by a nurse. It is ok sweetie. You fainted from heat
stroke and just need to lie down until you recover. she says. I lay back down and just am glad I
recovered. I see my water and reach for it and take a long nice gulp. As soon as I am one hundred
percent better, I stand up and go over to my coach. We are in the middle of our second game and I
have to sit out for it. When the third game starts. I get to serve and glance into the crowd before I do, I
look into the crowd. I see my family in the crowds

  • 2. Deborah Tannen Summary Language is used all around the world. Men and women have various ways of using language. There are many factors in using language such as: regional, ethic, and class backgrounds; gender; and age (Tannen 214). Deborah Tannen How Male and Female Students Use Language differently elaborates on this topic adequately. Tannen elaborates male and female language patterns, the debate type teaching formats used in college classrooms, and the different male and female attitudes toward vocal expressions exercises used in the classroom that creates a dissatisfying environment for females. Ms. Tannen mainly focuses on the languages differences of men and women. She concludes that different classroom strategies need to be studied and applied in order to accentuate and improve student participation in the classroom from both males and females. In analyzing this paper, three things are evident. One must consider how men and women bond differently, how speaking in a classroom is more adaptable to men in a debate scenario, and how men and women communicate and participate in a group exercise ... One learns when and who to share his or her troubles with, how to bond with fellow classmates, and how to express feelings by using language. Tannen states that many women bond by talking about troubles, and many men bond by exchanging playful insults and put downs (Tannen 215). . Tannen s research in You Just Don t Understand: Women and Men in Conversation shows that the differences between the communication patterns of men and women go beyond social occasions, and appear to be in the basic forms of the opposite sex. Men use communication to maintain independence, while women talk to maintain intimacy (Morrison 1). Female students often find that males like to hide their feelings and speak undemonstrative outside the classroom ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He hired an appraiser, Gregory Solomon, a salesman who is 90 years old and has experienced it all, to sell the furniture. In Act II, the audience is introduced to Victor s brother, Walter Franz. Victor was unable to fulfill his dream of becoming a scientist to take care of his father, a victim of the Great Depression. I could not connect to the story and I think that affected how I feel about the play. I thought that it was confusing when Solomon would repeatedly enter the intense conversations between Ester, Walter and Victor. I could not decide whether or not I should laugh or not. I think the actors should have had microphones because it was difficult to hear them with the accents, but The acting was good, especially Danny Devito during the egg scene. It was amazing how he was able to make the egg last and spitted it out over the course of approximately 10 minutes. I liked the comedy that was in the play because it did not interfere with the seriousness, and drama in the play. It was interesting to see actors, Danny DeVito and Mark Ruffalo acting in a play when they are Hollywood stars and it was difficult to see Mark Ruffalo anything besides the Hulk. UAVs Laws and Legislations The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has produced an expedited certificate of authorization (COA) process for local law enforcement agencies to operate unmanned aerial vehicles. The expedited COA process is part of the FAA s reauthorization legislation the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012 (P. L 1 12 95) which was signed into law by President Barack Obama on Feb. 14, 2012. Federal, state and local government entities must obtain a COA from the FAA before flying a UAV in the national airspace, the agency says( Dorr 2014). In the procedure of securing a certificate of authorization, there is little to no training of individuals with in local law enforcement to act according me with in Federal or even state privacy regulations. There is also the possibility that UAVs that carry chemical sniffers could be totally unencumbered by privacy protections. (Federal Aviation Administration 2013) Although the potential contribution of UAVs to sectors such as environmental protection, law enforcement and various commercial activities is apparent, they still seem not to be ready for civilian use. This is due to several reasons, including e.g. civilian UAVs (CUAVs) requiring different technological solutions such as optimized platforms, different endurance requirements, dedicated payloads and different ground control systems. An additional important problem to be solved is the integration of UAVs in the civilian airspace, which will require the adoption of civilian airworthiness standards and proven safety features. Last but not least trust has to be created, both at the public sectors and the commercial community, that CUAVs have economic advantages ( Vanclay 2003) One of the main hyposisthist that is surrounding the inhabitation of the advantages of UAVs, ... It has the 20th largest economy in the world with a $500 billion to $1 trillion Gross Domestic Product (GDP) with an emerging market and large oil and limestone natural resources. This is significant knowing that limestone is a mineral source that is used in most products you use every day including paper, bottles, paint, building supplies, and food. (WIKIPEDIA, 2015) Through maximum exploration and exploitation, Nigeria can earn more foreign exchange to complement its earnings. In addition, the utilization of this product will create job opportunities for unemployed Nigerians and act as a job multiplier for other industries and business. The body attempts to maintain a state of homeostasis or balance to ensure the optimal operating environment for its complex chemical systems. Any change from this homeostasis is a change away from the optimal operating environment. The body attempts to correct this imbalance. One such imbalance is the effect of increasing altitude on the body s ability to provide adequate oxygen to be utilized in cellular respiration. With an increase in elevation, a typical occurrence when climbing mountains, the body is forced to respond in various ways to the changes in external environment. Foremost of these changes is diminished ability to obtain oxygen from the atmosphere. If the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the base of the pharynx are two openings. One, the esophagus, leads to the digestive system while the other, the glottis, leads to the lungs. The epiglottis covers the glottis when swallowing so that food does not enter the lungs. When the epiglottis is not covering the opening to the lungs air may pass freely into and out of the trachea. The trachea sometimes called the windpipe branches into two bronchi, which in turn lead to a lung. Once in the lung the bronchi branch many times into smaller bronchioles, which eventually terminate in small sacs called alveoli. It is in the alveoli that the actual transfer of oxygen to the blood takes place. The alveoli are shaped like inflated sacs and exchange gas through a membrane. The passage of oxygen into the blood and carbon dioxide out of the blood is dependent on three major factors: 1) the partial pressure of the gases, 2) the area of the pulmonary surface, and 3) the thickness of the membrane (Gerking, 1969). The membranes in the alveoli provide large surface areas for the free exchange of gasses. The typical thickness of the pulmonary membrane is less than the thickness of a red blood cell. The pulmonary surface and the thickness of the alveolar membranes are not directly affected related to altitude and affects gas transfer in the alveoli. • 11. Stricter Gun Control Laws Do stricter gun control laws, equal less violence and death rates in America? Gun control (or firearms regulation) is the set of laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale, transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms by civilians (Wikipedia). Some presume that this means banning guns. In actuality, gun control only acts to protect citizens through enforcing the appropriate use of firearms; it does not ban the weapon. By implementing stricter gun laws and regulations, there would be a large decrease in death rates and help prevent violence in America. For instance, the United States Constitution Second Amendment declares that everyone has the right to bear arms . The United States Constitution was written with the intention of securing all United States citizens basic rights. Its purpose is to outline the laws of this country by mandating the powers of the people and what the United States government considers acceptable. Despite this, people feel the introduction of stricter gun control laws would deny them their sense of safety by violating their right to defend themselves by the law of the Second Amendment. By allowing everyone including criminals the ability to gain ownership of a weapon, increases violence and death rates in America. Therefore, stricter gun control laws and regulations should be implemented. Furthermore, many people feel that guns are not causing the problems, people that are using these weapons are. As mentioned earlier the chorus defines to just walk away although No One wants To Be Defeated. It is better to go because in the end It Doesn t Matter Who is Wrong Or Right. Jackson uses very powerful words and explains that it is always best to look out for yourself instead of proving yourself to others. It is not worth the struggle (songfacts). It is prevalent in our population with an estimated 10 15% of Americans diagnosed with hypertension (Hitner Nagle, 2016). Hypertension is the leading cause of cardiovascular disease (CVD), which results in nearly 1/3 of deaths annually in the United States (Still, Ferdinand, Ogedegbe, Wright, 2015). Hypertension is more likely after the age 60, and is more common in African American patients. It affects 40.4% of African Americans and only 27.4% of whites, causing the African American community to carry a higher burden of hypertension related complications (Still et al., 2015). There is evidence that suggests some anti hypertensive medications are more effective in the African American population, including diuretics and calcium channel blockers (Flack, Nasser, Levy, 2011). It is important to understand how ethnicity affects hypertension medications and what medications are preferential when treating patients, especially of African American decent. What is Hypertension? Huey Pierce Long was born on August 30, 1893, in the town of Winnfield located in Winn Parish to Mrs. Caledonia Long and Mr. Huey Long, Sr. The young Huey was the seventh of nine children (his younger siblings being named Earl and Lucille), and he lived the life of a farmer s child. The family was also a group of astute Christians with their daily Bible studies, attending church twice a week, and frequent attendance to gospel revivals. As Huey grew, there was no school for him to go too. Therefore, his mother home schooled him with his eight siblings until a formal education was accessible. In supporting Rogers s environment views I think that we need to create a more economic and environmental friendly garbage disposal system. Heather Rogers and Lars Eighner both acknowledge the issue with society s throwaway mentality. Eighner proves that we throw away perfectly working stuff, having survived off others discarded materials. Eighner argues against excessive waste we create but does not have any prospected solutions. • 29. Hierarchy Of Needs Theory Maslow Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs Theory (Humanistic Theory of Self Actualisation) originally comprised five levels of needs, usually represented as a pyramid, which in itself is a clever concept because like a pyramid each layer needs the preceding layer to be firmly in place before the next layer can be achieved which is probably the ideology of Maslow s theory. Maslow differs from Freud s theory in that he takes a pragmatic approach, emphasising the importance of the positive to promote a positive state of mind in the here and now , rather than the in depth psychoanalysis emphasising what is wrong with me approach of Freud. Maslow accepted that all humans have certain personality traits, such as boring, reserved, silly, aggressive; however, he believed most people have the potential to elevate themselves to a higher level of awareness and ... Matthew Crane Lab Section: 13151 Comparative Analysis of Antibiotic Growth Suppression of Staphylococcus Aureus Introduction Staphylococcus Aureus is a gram negative bacterium that may be pathogenic or exist as a commensal organism in humans. Unevolved strains are susceptible to nearly all antibiotics (Chambers DeLeo, 2009). Among the many antibiotic options, penicillin is particularly effective against S. Aureus. This is due to the mechanism of action by which penicillin replaces key structures in the bacterial cell wall that are essential to growth and repair. By preventing this cell maintenance, penicillin promotes osmotic instability in the cell and greatly increases the likelihood of cell death (Strominger Tipper 1965). In a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Recent research by Khokhlova et al. found that MRSA cases among S. Aureus isolates across Siberia were found at a rate of 22% in hospitals, compared to a community infection rate of 2.9% (2015). Traditional antibiotic treatments such as penicillin are often proven ineffective in these cases, as in the case of Fomda et al., which found a resistance rate of 85.46% at a tertiary care hospital (2014). The goal of this experiment is to determine whether different antibiotics will inhibit bacterial growth of S. Aureus. The hypothesis is that all three antibiotics used (penicillin, gentamicin, and kanamycin) will inhibit growth. If a zone of inhibition is observed around each antibiotic disk, then the hypothesis will be supported demonstrating the bacteria s susceptibility to the subject antibiotics. By demonstrating the efficacy of various different antibiotics and comparing them to one another in context of the target bacteria, combined with the gram stain results of S. Aureus, the results may be further analyzed and explained. Methods Five agar plates were prepared with evenly distributed S. Aureus bacteria. After being marked into four equal quadrants, an antibiotic disk was gently placed in each section of each plate. The levels of treatment in the 4 disks were 10 micrograms of gentamicin, 10 micrograms of penicillin, and 30 micrograms of kanamycin, with a control group of an identical ... In the Quranic verse 3:30, God tells believers that acts reflect the soul of their authors, which explains why jihad is widely represented in the minds of Muslim and non Muslim individuals in the acts committed in the name of Islam, such as acts of terrorism. Although jihads contains many underlying values, such as equality, peace, and purity, the most important value of jihad is justice. Muslims view justice mainly in the realm of social interaction. An example of social interaction where justice is an issue would be a court trial, family accountability, and particularly government interaction. When these social institutions become seemingly unjust, it is then that the call of jihad seems most logical. The West s understanding of jihad as a holy war is a misnomer. The war provoked by jihad is not holy in and of itself. War is purely an attempt to bring holiness through infinite justice. It is ironic that Islam is sometimes held to be a synonym for terrorism, when the very word Islam comes from the root word salaam in Arabic, meaning peace. Even though Western Islamic apologist claim that the Quran does not justify any form of violence, in certain cases Islam tolerates, permits, and encourages war and war like acts. According to the Quran, Muslims must always oppose oppression, but if there is ever a way to avoid war or violence it must be taken. Most of the problem of jihad in Arab and Islamic nations is clarifying who is eligible to declare jihad. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, in the last decade, petitions and suit cases against climate change issue were gradually filed. In 2006, the first suit case against the Environmental Protection Agency was reached to the U.S Supreme Court (Aminzade, 2006). A petition claimed that climate change through emissions and air pollutants caused harm to public health and welfare. This case grabbed the attention of multiple environmental agencies; it also gained support from political and human rights activists figures (Aminzade, 2006). Another petition in 2004 by Inuit claimed that the U.S climate change policy violated the human rights to life, the right to health, and movement (Goldberg Wagner, 2004). The Inuit petition describes how climate change is affecting the Arctic environment on which the Inuit depend. It argued that climate change violates the Inuit rights, including the right to life, health, and property. Based on the petition, the Inuit s right to life is violated because critical food resources are threatened by climate change, and unpredicted weather events can cause loss of life (Knox, 2009). The Inuit community also argued that climate change interferes with their right to health by damaging fish on which they depend on for nutrients, and by diminishing the quality of their drinking water and increasing the spread of diseases (Knox, 2009). ...
