The first one is to see what will happen if I change the temperature of the solution. As the temperature
increases the speed and the power at which the acid particles hit each other increases, making the
number of successful collisions with the magnesium strip increase.
The second one is to show how increasing the mass of the magnesium strip can increase the rate of
reaction slightly because of the increased surface area but it is only slightly increased on the sides and
so this is proportional to the rate of reaction of the original diagram. It is only slower than the original
reaction because there is more of it to react with and produces more of the products.
Figure 3 shows the concentration of the hydrochloric acid increased so there are more particles to have
more successful collisions. This is a faster reaction then the original reaction.
The final reaction has the same amount of particles of acid and the magnesium, but the magnesium
has been cut to increase the surface area. This makes the acid particles more likely to have more
successful collisions each second than the original reaction.

In Rosmarie Garland Thomson: The politics of Staring , expresses how our society has changed over
time. She views human s theories in four different visual rhetoric s which in this case I am going to
call them speechmaking s: the wondrous, the realistic, the sentimental and the exotic. From these four
figures of speech Garland has shown our inclination to see disabled people by the way they are
discriminated by the rest of society. Garland makes references to this by showing pictures and
examples that highlights how the modern American world views disability.
The first figure of speech Garland discusses is the wondrous. She points out how the wondrous
represent monsters, giants, meaning the good and evil, The wondrous viewpoint is defined by the
association of the disabled with the normal, creating a disconnect in what the viewer sees as able. By
visualizing a disabled person moving out physical trials ranging from menial tasks to physical feats of
strength and will, the viewer creates a hollowness between the dexterity and capability to perform and

Since we ve established that Kant is strongly against euthanasia; at least active euthanasia. We can
now discuss the arguments of Thiroux in relativity to this debate. Active euthanasia, it is in direct
violation of the value of life principle. This means that the involvement of taking a life usually means

There are currently two types of food systems that exist in our food shed. TINA, which comes from
Maggie Thatcher, who said, There Is No Alternative to global economy T I N A (Shuman, 2002). And
LOIS, which stands for Local Ownership and Import Substitution (Shuman, 2002). TINA is the
system that has been used for the pasted 60 to 70 years, and throughout that time the way we produced
are food has become both productive and efficient; but it has also become destructive and unhealthy.
In A TINA based food economy, food is either mass produced through the process of industrial
farming or it is imported from other countries. These lead to adverse effects on the food, the
environment and the economy. However, in a LOIS based food economy, food is produced locally
through locally owned businesses, then the more you can minimize your vulnerability to nasty
surprises, the more you can maximize your economic multiplier, and the more you can maximize tax
proceeds to the public sector and the many good things that come from it. (Shuman, 2002). So in
simpler terms the more you produce locally, the better local economies will be and if local economies
have a large income then the nations income will increase by way of tax. Along with being good for
our economy, LOIS has little to no adverse effect on our environment or health. Compared to TINA,

1. As per ref (a) the United States Coast Guard defines leadership as You influencing others to achieve
a goal. Ref (b) defines leadership as the ability to work through others to accomplish a task. My
definition of leadership is Things you do to get people to do things . My definition covers both good
and bad leadership. I feel that I have been influenced equally as much by bad leadership as good
leadership. I have observed as much of what not to do, as what to do. I occasionally find myself
compelled to do something that was in the what not to do column. I feel that if it was not for the bad
experiences I would have had to learn a lot of the what not to do lessons on my own.
For instance, I have worked for a number of Department Heads, but one in particular focused on
making changes immediately, whether needed or not; mostly not. Further, the way he approached the
change was, do this because I said so and I don t know how you all got along without me . Input was
not solicited and unsolicited input was not considered. Conversely, I have worked for Department
Heads that wouldn t make any unnecessary changes, and any changes that were made were
implemented only after discussion with the department or division supervisors. It was no coincidence
that the latter Department was more functional under this style of leadership. It is this style of
