Church Meeting Summary
The meeting was about the City of Commission of Deland on March six, at seven pm. First, starts
discussing how people can address an agenda or an unattended issue that can be given to City Clerk at
the proper time. Also, the meeting gives information on how later in the meeting they are going to
explain a new resolution of the surplus of the house abandonment. Something very nice that they did
at first is how they made a program called Super Stars Students of the month to reward kids for doing
greats in school as a way trying to push them to become something important in the future, and not
giving up their dreams. Not only had they rewarded the kids but also two employees who were great
in services for a long time. As part of the introduction, they give the quarterly financial report prepared
by Dan Stauffer, which basically shows that the City is doing well so far into each financial position.
The public comments were very professionally done as I saw there not many arguments into the
agendas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My conclusion with this meeting is that the city does take care of the opinion of the public as they try
to explain the issue in a very clear matter; we could see that the city is trying to become better each
day and trying to resolve the problems presented but again is something that the people has to have
patience into knowing that these agendas take a long period into being analyzed, approved and
executed. This meeting brought me back to what in class we been discussing on how a policy is being
made and how it first needs to have a solid argument so it could be approved. So far I never expected
for this meet to go very coordinated and smoothly as sometimes is normal for the argument from the
public but in this case that was not the

Oroonoko and Gulliver s Travels
Gulliver s Travels and Oroonoko shatter the myth that European culture was more civilized than
newly discovered savage countries. The most prominent examples in Oroonoko are their treatment of
the slaves and how they are punished. In Gulliver s Travels the evidence revolves around how petty,
destructive, illogical, and unreasonable human beings act. Though the authors of these stories differ on
many levels from their writing style to the very reason why their story was written they have a
common theme. They show glaring evidence that European culture is actually more savage than the
countries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
320]. This is Oroonoko s response to the captain s betrayal upon their arrival to Surinam. The captain
sold Oroonoko to the first bidder when they arrived and not only that they also sold him to a different
owner than his other men. But this is only the tip of how savage the Europeans behaved. After
Oroonoko, known by this time by his slave name Caesar, had given rise to a revolution he was put to
death. The manner in which he was killed is the saddest and most savage display of cruelty. Oroonoko
was publicly dismembered and then his body parts were to be distributed to the plantations in order to
scare the other slaves into submission. And the executioner came and cut off his members, and threw
them into the fire. After that, with an ill favored knife, they cut his ears and his nose, and burned them;
he still smoked on, as if nothing had touched him he gave up the ghost, without a groan, or a reproach,
[p. 341]. Though some of the gory details are omitted in this quote, it is easy to see the cruelty used in
his dismemberment and also the desire to inflict as pain as possible. Something that caught my
attention while reading of his death was the choice of words used to describe how Oroonoko s body
was hacked apart. To hack at something is to cut it with crude, harsh, and irregular swings. The words
mutilate and mangle are commonly used in the definition of hack. In Gulliver s Travels the author

My Life Of A Doctor
A stethoscope, box of bandages, syringe, and thermometer all made of plastic and enclosed in a small
case with a red cross imprinted on the front. These items had been some of my favorite childhood toys
and represent how long I have wanted to become a doctor. Apart from a brief carpentry phase when I
was 7, I honestly cannot recall a time when my mind was not focused on a future career in medicine.
Part of this early interest was undoubtedly spurred by my family s history in the field. I have multiple
family members who have been nurses or physicians; however, the largest influence was my Father
whom I have looked up to as a role model and example of the kind of doctor that I want to be. I loved
that my Dad was a doctor. I realized the importance of his career, but mostly I loved always having
someone there to help me through all of my minor and major childhood traumas. When I was young
and received a gruesome 4th of July sparkler wound, my Dad was able to calm me down and make me
feel safe. Although I may have squirmed and cried, I knew my Father could help me because I knew
that he was a Doctor and what that meant. I knew the amount of training he had received, the years of
school and residency, and most importantly that I could trust him to take care of me. That level of trust
is something that I aspire to gain in the future.
As I grew older I became more interested in medicine but for different reasons. The experience that
affected my medical aspirations the most in

Gangster Film Analysis
Frank Lucas in the 1960 s was the upcoming gangster in Harlem. He was Bumpy Johnson right hand
man at first though. Frank would drive Bumpy around, get his lunch, and every now and then kill
some people when needed (according to Bumpy). The movie starts off with a powerful scene with a
man sitting in a chair having gasoline poured all over him as Bumpy and Frank watch. Once all the
gasoline is used, Frank lights up his cigar and throws the lighter on the victim. As he begins to burn in
great PAIN frank begins to shoot him repeatedly. It s important to know that during this time Bumpy
was appreciated throughout Harlem from all the citizens. As Bumpy begins to tell Frank a very
important lesson in taking pride of selling an authentic product he suddenly has a heart attack and
dies. Now as for Frank he has two choices, either become the next big gangster of Harlem or become
someone else s driver . On the other side of the gang world you have Richie Roberts, who at the time
was and up and coming honest cop who is trying to make an honest dollar. Richie and his partner were
following up on a lead that one of their informants gave about a mobster bookie having a very large
amount of money. After investigating for a little bit longer they in fact did find the bookies car with
around one million dollars. It was very unlikely for a cop to turn in that much money, but not for
Richie. The major event happening around the world at the time was the Vietnam War. Frank at the

Self-Destruction In Hamlet
Hamlet, a tragic hero with a feigned madness seeking revenge for his deceased father, kills everyone
in his path and finally succeeded in taking vengeance for the murder of his father by killing the
murderer, Claudius for good. Hamlet s consistent desire to seek revenge for his father s murderer, led
him to foreseeable yet tragic downfall. In Hamlet, Shakespeare utilizes the acts of revenge throughout
the play to show self destruction and confliction in through characters such as Hamlet.
The theme of revenge causing self destruction is established in act two of the book by Hamlet himself.
Hamlet proclaims: O, vengeance! Why, what an ass am I! This is most brave, That I, the son of a dear

Kristen Stewart Research Paper
Soko not bitter about Kristen Stewart dating Alicia Cargile, No breakup ballad is in offing Kristen
Stewart is having a good time with her girlfriend Alicia Cargile after admitting their relationship
publically and her ex girlfriend Soko, with whom she shared a brief relationship, does not have any
problem with the pair. Soko is not at all bitter and does not have any plans to write a bitter breakup
ballad, Gossip Cop has learned. A credible source from Soko s circle has said that she is not even in
the studio to work on her new record, leave alone penning a breakup song. She is busy promoting her
two films The Stopover and The Dancer that debuted at Cannes in May. Soko will return to the studio
only after the promotions are over and start working on her music so that her new record may come
out in March 2017. As far as her relationship with Stewart and the consequent heartbreak is
concerned, the duo did not share a long enough relationship to write a song about it. It was very short
and therefore, neither Stewart nor her fans need to worry about any Taylor Swift kind of burn ballad.

The Hunger Of World Hunger
World Hunger
Imagine not being able to reach into your refrigerator and pull out a snack. Think about those
mornings when you forget to eat breakfast and your stomach is growling the whole morning. Now
imagine not being able to suppress that feeling. Imagine feeling that hunger day after day. This is
reality for almost a sixth of the world s population. Is there any good news? Yes there is. There are
many ways for us to reduce world hunger. This essay will look at the causes of world hunger as well
as short term, and long term, solutions. World hunger can be solved using a combination of ideas and
people working together.
In the first world there are 9 million people suffering from hunger. In Canada, the HungerCount
survey, organized by Food Banks Canada, counted the number of people using food banks and
analysed their living conditions. The hunger issue in Canada has to do with poverty. Only 6% of food
bank users own their own home. Even with social assistance, which over 50% of food bank users are
receiving as their main source of income, these people cannot meet their basic needs. Child hunger is
also an issue in Canada, where 37% of food bank users are children. When a household s income is
too low, the children suffer. Many parents don t have the time to take care of their children and work at
the same time. Although these facts are about Canada, there are the similar issues facing people all
over the first world.
According to a few world

Neorealism Movement In Cinema
Italian Neorealism, French New Wave Directors, and Dogme 95 filmmakers were three very important
movements in cinema. The first very movement was called neorealism which lasted from 1944 1952
and reacted to the dominant mode of Italian cinema which was based on a fascist regime but also dealt
with the socio economic conditions from post world war 2 in Italy. The second movement began
around 1958 and was called the French new wave directors and reacted against the industries lack of
quality and directors small participation in vision. In 1955 the third wave called Dogme 95 films
began and was a movement that was against the big budget Hollywood films and use of special
effects.
The origin of Italian Neorealism began after the fall of Mussolini s Fascist regime in 1943 and the end
of World War 2. Now being free from fascist censorship Italian directors were able to blend cinematic
realism with social and political problems facing Italy which would have never been allowed earlier.
The term neorealism was first used by film critic Antonio Pietrangeli towards Luchino Visconti s film
Ossessione. The French New Wave was started by five French film enthusiast: André Bazin, Jean Luc
Godard, Claude Chabrol, François Truffaut, Jacques Rivette who wrote and discuss cinema because
they lacked the money to create films themselves. They talked about how movies have become stale
due to the lack of innovation in the industry and decided to create their own original formats, such

Magnesium And Hydrochloric Acid Lab Report
On November 3, 2017, I conducted an experiment with the purpose of measuring the heat in a reaction
between a mixture of Magnesium and Hydrochloric Acid (HCI). While being mixed, the reaction can
either release or obtain more energy in an excessive manner. The surrounding environment then can
give a measure of the amount of heat energy, and in this case the surrounding environment is a
calorimeter. A calorimeter is a tool that is able to isolate the reaction from its surroundings, and is a
very essential part of the lab. One must be careful when conducting this experiment so that the
calorimeter can successfully retain the energy so the results will be as accurate as possible.
There are two possible reactions that can occur during an experiment. The first one is an endothermic
reaction, which is when there is a flow of heat coming into the reaction. When this happens, it will be
cool to the touch and it results in the products of the reaction having a higher ... Show more content on

Socratic Ching For Real True Knowledge
Brooke O Neill

The Socratic Method is the oldest named term for an engagement in intellectual dialect amongst two
or more parties, this is properly the foremost and truest method of insightful interaction because at its
foundation as a style of engagement it is defined to be a discussion in which people who have the
capacity to think; as defined by Socrates as being to rationally perceive and sort through sensations
and perceptions, through reason, and endless questioning of that of which is both known to be
physically tangible and conceptually created, to in fact listen and refute or add to what others have to
say in order to reach a clear and concise decisions as to the topic of which is being discussed. In

Often what people articulate and what they have in their heads rarely perfectly coincides, so by asking
questions and allowing them to further elaborate on what they are conveying is a great way to figure
out what thought they want you to understand. Another one of my favorite Socratic moments is set in
the Apology, where Socrates is before the entire court and so clearly explains his thinking, to everyone
except those prosecuting him. The oracle at Delphi, a highly regarded, highly sought after being who
was believed to be a prophet of the gods declared Socrates to be the wisest of all men. Socrates
concludes this must be because he knows nothing, meaning he is not certain of everything of which he
is told and questions all things relentlessly. This display of intellectual humility particularly stands out
in the Socrates philosophic mission, as he is not arrogant nor does he always have to be right. In his
pursuit of truth he realizes often ones ego gets in the way of true knowledge, for when you are always
right you hardly learn anything new, it is by error and questioning that comes the clarification that is
knowledge. Socrates never tries to make

Trial Lawyer Research Paper
Sometimes, life just does not go as smoothly as planned. You hit a lot of bumps along the way. The
minor bumps are fine. These things only serve to delay you. It s the major ones that you need to watch
out for. When you need a lawyer, by your side, you have to make sure that you get the best. Just think
about this: you have a case filed in the court, and if you don t play your cards right, you could just end
up losing everything you ve worked so hard for. Hence, it s not the time to be complacent. You need to
be wiser now by having someone who knows the ins and outs of the law by your side. Trial lawyers
are there to defend the people s rights. If you re thinking about your wellbeing, then you shouldn t just

case. First of all, all trial attorneys who are allowed to operate by the authorities have got some
licensing, they should have a good track record, and they should be more than willing to help you.
Some of these professionals are selective in the cases they are willing to take on, but in most cases,

The Threat Of Large Scale Information Security Breaches
This paper will discuss the possibility of large scale information security breaches, the hardware and
software hacked, the hardware and software needed to perform a real time attack, and the
consequences with performing such an attack. This paper will first define any related terms, then
describe the information security systems seen in the WATCH_DOGS video game, then discuss the
various hardware and software involved in an attack in regards to the game and real life, and finally
conclude with whether or not the concepts in WATCH_DOGS are realistic and possible today.
Introduction In the information age of today, the information security is one of the more prevalent
issues that drive information security professionals and computer technicians to build smarter and
stronger software and hardware. In the virtual world of video games, where the effects of something as
devastating as a security breach have no real world repercussions, information security can still be a
serious topic.
One of a popular video game publisher s new titles that have been released recently has taken the
realistic fear of information security and made it into an interesting adventure, where the main
protagonist is every credit card owner s worst nightmare: a hacker. Granted, the game s scenario might
be too specific to say it could exist in the real world, but how plausible would it be for a hacker to
access a major metropolitan information security system if it was

Animal Farm Book, Language Used as an Instrument of Social...
Paying particular attention to the character of Squealer, how is language used as an instrument of
social control? How do the pigs rewrite history?
In the book animal farm, Orwell very carefully created his characters in order to mimic certain
political figures of the time. In this case Squealer functioned as the propaganda department. Squealer
uses language to keep Napoleon in power. He uses language as a means to consolidate power, in this
light truth is an element that can be manipulated through language.
His use of language is designed to enhance the control that the pigs have over the rest of the farm.
When squealer uses language as his weapon he constantly puts particular spins on events and

This, together with Boxer s enormous strength, is what makes him a threat to the pigs; they
desperately need him for his enormous capacity for work and example but, if that strength were to be
turned against them because he unwittingly alerted the rest of the animals to their corruption, then
their regime would be finished.
This fact is why Boxer is viewed as a treat, despite being an ally napoleon ultimately took the first
chance he had to get rid of boxer, and why his eventual fate comes about. Napoleon took full
advantage of the disposal of Boxer and knew once he was gone the threat of Napoleon being over
thrown was banished, Because even if the animals tried to revolt or protest, he would be able to take
control with his almighty army of beast like dogs.
While the betrayal of Boxer is not, the true climax, one could indeed construe this event in such a way
that it legitimizes as an alternative climax. After all, the betrayal of Boxer is nearly equal in the
importance to the banishment of Snowball, politically speaking.
Of all of the Characters in Animal Farm, are there any who seem to represent the point of view of the
author? Which animals or people do you think come(s) closet to achieving Orwell s perspective on
Animal Farm?

that we will observe aging dependent decrease in the ability to learn as reported in vertebrates. In
order to understand synaptic aging, the above behavioral experiments will be coupled with
electrophysiological measurements of L7MN LESN connections. Briefly, in the above preparation,
abdominal ganglion is partially desheathed to gain access to measure electrophysiological properties
using sharp electrodes. Similar experiments were performed on R15 neuron in the abdominal ganglia
(See Fig 2 3). Specifically, we will measure the resting membrane potential, resistance and
postsynaptic potentials (PSPs) before and after different behavior training paradigms described above
[6,34]. PSPs are a measure of strength of synaptic connections. These experiments will answer
whether during aging (1) passive properties such as basic membrane resting potential and resistance
change and (2) active properties such as excitatory and inhibitory postsynaptic potentials change.
How does aging affect synaptic plasticity? (Aim1) We will carry out synaptic plasticity measurements
using a reduced preparation containing abdominal ganglia from mature and old animals. Specifically,

Incas Versus The Aztecs And Mayans Essay
Incas versus the Aztecs and Mayans
The incas rose in 1438, they fell in 1533. They suffered the attacks of Spanish conquerors such as
Spaniard Francisco Pizarro (1475 1541) and the spread of small box. At the peak of power the
civilization extended 4,000 km (2,500 miles) and included 16 million people. They were extremely
advanced, had an army, laws, roads, bridges, and tunnels. Inca s were the most advanced civilization
because of their government, agriculture, architecture and technology compared to the Aztecs and
Mayans.
There are many aspects to the government hierarchy. The Inca government at Cuzco maintained a
strong military and passed laws to create official customs, an official language, and calendar. They had
a government that established law. The Inca government was called the Tawantinsuyu. It was a
monarchy ruled by a single leader called the Sapa Inca. His principal wife (queen) was called the
coya. The Sapa Inca were several officers who helped to rule the empire. High ranking officials were
often relatives of the emperor and were always part of the Inca class. They had seven different levels
of officers helping rule. Viceroy also known as the Inkap Rantin who worked as the advisor and was a
close relative. High priest also known as the Willaq Umu he was the second in power. Governs of a

Sledding Day Research Paper
My Sledding Day When I was 16 years old and my family and I still lived in Missouri, which seems to

friends had a great day sledding, spending time together, and just having a fun time. On this snow day
I remember my mom getting a call from my older brother s roommate s mother to join her and her
kids in a day of sledding, my mom said yes and got directions to where we would meet up with them.

Benefits of Youth Sports
Benefits of Youth Sports Sports do not build character. They reveal it, said John Wooden, legendary
UCLA basketball coach. Playing sports not only provides physical activity, but also other positive
benefits. This is especially true for children. A well structured and organized youth program will
provide benefits and positive experiences for young athletes. While children are having fun
participating in sports they are also building character, learning to work as a team, and playing fairly.
Most people think the only benefits of sports are physical. Sports are more than just developing hand
eye coordination and burning calories, youth sports provide many developmental benefits, physical
benefits, and psychological benefits.

According to the American Heart Association, one in every three children is overweight. Children who
are overweight are more likely to be obese as adults, increasing their risk for diseases and conditions
such as diabetes, heart attack, and high blood pressure (Ashe Edmunds 3). High blood pressure can
lead to heart disease, stroke and kidney failure. But weight loss can help reduce high blood pressure,
so sports that burn calories address this problem.
Depending on the sport that a child participates in, most sports require physical activity. Research has
shown that physical movement can affect the brain s physiology by increasing cerebral capillary

In other words, physical exercise causes short term relaxation, improved concentration, enhanced
creativity and memory, improved mood, and enhanced problem solving abilities. Sport can help
prevent drug and alcohol abuse by teaching young athletes to be aware of their body and how it

maintain those abilities (Jones 2). Being an athlete gives kids an acceptable reason to say no to drugs,

Summary Of A Good Man Is Hard To Find By O Connor
In the short story A Good Man is Hard to Find, by O Connor, we are told of the story of a family just
about to leave for a trip to Florida. The character we are viewing this story through is the grandmother
of the family, mother to the father. The grandmother protested the trip because of supposed bandits
that were also headed to Florida, and because she wanted to instead see connections in Tennessee.
After ignoring her complaints the family began their trip to Florida. On the way the grandmother was
able to talk her son into a slight detour in order for her to see an old plantation she had visited in her
youth. Along the old path to this house the grandmother realized she was mistaken about the
plantation and through use of her cat accidently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example the father s and mother s flaw was the decision to travel, unarmed and unprotected when
a known outlaw was traveling nearby. Another was the grandmother s mistaken location of this
plantation, caused by her longing to see the places of her past. The grandmother selfishness in
diverting the trip, then only pleading for her life shows that humans however good their intentions,
can be self serving and egocentric. The Misfit portrayed the very worst of human nature his actions
and thoughts. Even though The Misfit was a deranged killer who believed the only meaningful and
pleasurable act in life was meanness towards others. Both the son and daughter in this story were rude,
obnoxious, and disobedient children. Through their actions the children show that humans, even as
children, can be perverse and obstreperous in nature. The mother s character shows how obscure and
unimportant one can let themselves become. This portrays the submissive behavior that humans can
have, and how it can take over one s life. The way that the mother so coolly accepts her fate, and even
thanks the man that is going to kill her and her children, shows the meekness of human

Lack of Communication
Lack of Communication in a relationship
Composition II 54
7/23/2010
Tiffany Augustin
There are two crucial elements in effective communication: relaying a message and receiving a
message. It is just as important to communicate the message as it is to ensure the proper message is
received. Effective communication is vital to personal and business success. Often, companies provide
employee training on how to communicate effectively. This essay focuses on listening and receiving
the message the other person is trying to communicate.
Because we don t communicate well with each other the effects can cause a divorce. Causes that led to
divorce can be numerous. But, some of the most common reasons responsible for divorce are ... Show

(http://health.howstuffworks.com/relationships/advice/communication skills for lifelong
relationships.htm) This can create quite a conflict when a man and a woman become involved in a
relationship. For example, let s say it s Friday afternoon and you are planning on heading out to Regal
to catch a movie with your boyfriend. So you stop by his place and suggest a couple of movies you
wanted to see, when he informs you that his best friend from high school is driving into Slippery Rock
tonight to hang out with him. You, being the girl, are completely crushed. You try to act like it doesn t
bother you, but on the inside you are so upset and hurt that he didn t tell you about this before. You
figure he has known for at least a couple of days. So why didn t he tell you? Then you begin to tell
yourself, I would never do this to him. I tell him almost everything. He must not care about me as
much as I care about him. Come on, every girl has had this thought at least once in their lifetime.
Most girls think this way because of the fact that they grew up in a world of intimacy. Likewise, most
guys won t inform their girlfriends because he needs to feel independent. Telling her about his plans
means the same to a guy as asking

What Is Candide A Satire
Naivete and Satire in Jonathan Swifts Gulliver s Travels and Voltaire s Candide
A child has the ability to make the most critical and objective observation on society and the behavior
of man. How is this possible? A child has yet to mature and lacks proper education and experience.
However, it is for this very reason that a child would make the perfect social scientist; his or her
naivete may provide an excellent means of objective criticism and most often satire. A child s curious
nature and hunger for knowledge would bring about an unbiased questioning of social structures,
minus the brainwashing of these very institutions, and his or her vulnerability would expose any
societal dangers present. This child like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, both works are travel tales, which expose the main characters to many perspectives. This
allows the authors to satirize many aspects of society.
These two satirical works make litotes of preposterous situations, thus shedding light on the absurdity
at hand. This is an especially effective technique, because a character or narrator is involved in a
ridiculous situation. The reader, from an aesthetic distance, is then able to recognize the foolishness of
the incident. After careful consideration, a satirical conclusion may be drawn. For example, Voltaire s
narrator describes a brutal battle scene in a lighthearted manner:
Nothing could have been more splendid, brilliant, smart or orderly than the two armies . . . . then rifle
fire removed from our best of worlds about nine or ten thousand scoundrels who had been infesting its
surface. The bayonet was also the sufficient reason for the death of several thousand men. (22 23)
The diction in this passage is ironic. By referring to a battle as splendid (22) and brilliant (22), the
narrator demonstrates how common the idea of warfare has become and how little the human life is
valued. Also, the phrase, Our best of worlds (22 23) identifies optimism as a focus of this satirical
attack (Maurois 100). In this way, the narrator nonchalantly discusses grave matters. Maurois cited
both Voltaire and Swift as using this

Tort Law Reform Research Paper
Is Tort Law Reform the Solution?
Because the practice of defensive medicine is driven primarily by the threat of legal liability,
researchers have proposed direct or indirect tort law reforms as the solution. With caps on non
economic damages and collateral source offsets , direct reforms seek to limit the cost of malpractice
litigation for providers (Kessler, 2011, p. 96). Indirect reforms seek to alleviate malpractice pressure
through other means, including contingency fee limitations, periodic payment requirements against
future damages, joint and several liability reforms, and provisions for patients compensation funds
(Kessler, 2011). The potential of such reforms to curtail defensive medicine is based on the
assumption that reduced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Active bills in Florida, Georgia, Maine, and Tennessee during the 2016 legislative session provoked
fierce debates among various stakeholders. The two main arguments focus on the potential for costs to
rise uncontrollably under the PCS, and its feasibility to replace the current malpractice system (Forray,
Fleming, Wunder, 2014; Forray Wunder, 2017).
Because the PCS would not function within the legal system, its substitution for the malpractice
liability system may deprive patients and providers of their right to court system access. The PCS
proposed exclusivity therefore raises constitutionality issues (Forray, Fleming, Wunder, 2014). On the
other hand, as long as the malpractice liability system exists, injured patients will still find their way to
court, thus perpetuating provider incentives to practice

seven seventh graders and split them up into two groups. (Chang, 2013). One group read and did
homework during study hall while the other group did a forty five minute intervention. In this
intervention, the students were first relaxed by breathing exercises, and then they were, asked to
release bottled up emotions like saying they were afraid or cold (Chang, 2013). After they expressed
their emotions, they laughed for two to three minutes. It was seen that after this experiment, the
experimental group had lowered their levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, while the control group s
cortisol levels had stayed the same. (Chang, 2013). This is wonderful because according to the Mayo
Clinic Staff (2011), the overexposure to cortisol can lead to weight gain, digestive problems, heart

Sartre
As stated by Sartre, man has the choice to make all of their decisions freely, but are still condemned to
be free, because we were thrust upon this earth without any choice and forced to exist. Since everyone
was placed on this earth without our choosing, we still have to choose and act freely from any type of
situation we may end up in. Because of that, every choice we make and the resulting circumstance that
may come with it is the result of us being free and having those choices to make. The choice to have a
choice is really the only thing we cannot choose. In his book, Sartre says, Not only are we condemned

There are no sets of ethics, morals, or eternal values that we can base our entire lives on. The phrases,
I can t or, I must in regards to doing anything since we have the ultimate choice in anything and
nothing is ever truly forced upon us. Sartre believes that we should never put the blame for anything
that we do on anyone else but ourselves. Even though we may believe that the consequence of our
action could be blamed on someone other than us, it always ends up being up to us, whether we want
it to or not. This specific view that Sartre has on the responsibility of our actions being on ourselves
conflicts with the Catholic philosophy. Sartre says that our reasons for picking one action over another
being what God wanted for us or that it was in someone s nature to do so are false. To him, it is our
responsibility. As we live our lives and go through the experiences that we do, we must create our own
meaning. To him, that is the meaning of existence. We are the ones who are held responsible for our
destiny and how we live our lives and shape ourselves is all derived from what we make of ourselves.
On a bit of a different note, Sartre does believe that this freedom of choice that we have can be seen as
somewhat of a curse. This curse is prevalent when dissecting Sartre s phrase, condemned to be

There are two main forms of diabetes: type 1 and type 2. Type 1 diabetes is a genetically autoimmune
disease when the body produces an immune response against its own cells, and destroys the insulin
producing beta cells in the pancreas. As a result, the pancreas cannot produce enough insulin or totally
stop producing insulin at a young age. The far more common diabetes is type 2 diabetes, which are
around 90% of all people with diabetes (World Health Organization, 1999) and is caused by a
combination of lifestyle and genetic factors. People with type 2 diabetes may still produce their own
insulin, but the body cannot use them sufficiently, thus the blood glucose could not be balanced and

Why Do People Spend More Time Buying A New Car Or Planning...
Introduction Why do people spend more time buying a new car or planning a vacation than investing
their life savings? Most people know they should play a more active role in their investments but they
often do not know where to start. Investing simply means putting your money to work so it can make
more money. The responsibility for retirement planning is shifting to the individual. According to
Statistics Canada, the amount of paid workers covered by a registered pension plan dropped from 44.2
% in 1985 to 38.5% in 2005. Saving for retirement will likely be the biggest financial goal for most
Canadians and investing is one of the few ways that can help achieve their goals. Investing is not a get
rich quick scheme nor is it gambling. Gambling is putting your money at risk by betting on a random
outcome with the hope that you might win more money. Wise investors don t leave it to chance. They
have a plan and commit money only when they have a reasonable expectation of profit. Everyone has
a different idea of what money means to them personal freedom. A sense of security or the ability to
afford the things they want in life. Having an investment plan can help you get where you want to be.
An Investment funds is a pool of money collected from many investors that is used by the fund
manager to purchase and sell stocks, bonds or other securities in accordance with the fund s
investment objective. The purpose of this paper is to discuss two investment funds

An Actor Prepares By Constantin Stanislavski
All I can do is to help you feel what it is. Even to do that requires great patience, for I shall devote our
whole course to it. Or, to be more exact, it will appear by itself after you have studied our whole
system of acting and after you yourselves have made the experiment of initiating, clarifying,
transforming, simple everyday human realities into crystals of artistic truth. Teacher Mr. Tortsov,
teaches his students the fundaments in acting and how to be successful in its art, in Constantin
Stanislavski s eye opening book, An Actor Prepares. Throughout reading his book, I learned three
main lessons: how the outside impression of an actor looks or how the audience perceives them, the
inner motivation and structure of an actor, and lastly, acting is an art and properly portraying a
character through the art form. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An Actor Prepares teaches an actor that everything needs to be justified and motivated. Whether that
be through analyzing the text for overall theme, adaption to responses done by our scene partners or
ensemble, being natural with movements and not mechanical, or working out the overall objective of
the play. Analyzing the text of the play influences the character s motivation. If a character is going
over to another character s house for no reason other than to hang out, then it slows down the pace of
the show down and puts a stop in the energy of the show. Channeling the normal person inside myself,
provides a more relatable character to the audience member. The overall objective of the show
provides a reason or lesson for the whole play. The sooner I, as an actor, understand and determine the

The Influence Of Neorealism On The World War II
Neorealism came to fruition as a result of classical realism. While classical realism was based on the
inclinations of human nature, neorealism proposed the structural constraints determined the behavior
of states in the international realm. After World War II, the call for a politically and economically
integrated Europe was of utmost importance among European leaders because of the brutal human and
economic cost of the war. The idea of integration came in order to maintain the balance of power in
the region, specifically regarding the rise of another expansive Germany type state and to guard
against the rise of the nuclear armed Soviet Union. The idea of integration started with the European

This rationality means they will pursue interests in terms of power according to offensive neorealism,
or in terms of security according to defensive neorealism (Collard Wexler, 2006). These two strands
have been heavily debated within neorealist theory, particularly by Mearsheimer in favor of offensive
neorealism and Waltz in favor of defensive neorealism. John Mearsheimer believes that the goal of
states is to maximize power while Waltz believes the goal of states is to maintain their positions in the
system (Snyder, 2001). There is no punishment for irrational or aggressive behavior because of the
anarchic nature of the system so states must rely on themselves for survival, through the use of power.
Due to anarchy, states will balance against their peers by imitation, by boosting their national assets
(internal balancing), forming alliances with other states (external balancing) or by adopting the
successful power generating practices of the prospective hegemon (emulation) (Wohlforth et.al, 2007)
and these 3 processes will prevent hegemony. Neorealism relates to European integration most
specifically in terms of the aforementioned balance of power. Nations tend to balance among
dominant powers rather than ally with them because they fear that the powerful ally of today could
become the menacing rival of tomorrow (Collard Wexler, 2006). This balance, however, should not be
confused with cooperation because

Jack the Ripper and Lizzie Borden
A serial killer can be defined as a person who commits a series of murders, often with no apparent
motive and typically following a characteristic, predictable behavior pattern. (McGraw Hill) While
there have always been serial killers, the 1880 s had some of the most significant. Two of the most
notorious were Jack the Ripper and Lizzie Borden. While neither were convicted for their crimes, they
will both go down in history as some of the world s most brutal killers.
In Whitechapel, London in 1888, an insane serial killer roamed the streets who became known as the
Whitechapel Butcher. (Jones) No one knows who actually did it so over the years the murderer
became known as Jack the Ripper. He targeted prostitutes and brutally mutilated their bodies. A total
of women were murdered all of the murders happened with a mile of each other. He was not laid back
in how he handled the murders and cut them apart in such a way that was used to clearly show he
knew what he was doing. (Cook) The cuts and placement of said cuts were positioned and thought out
in a way only a medical professional would think to put them so it is concluded he had to be involved
in the medical field. (Biography.com Editors) There were also letters sent to the police. These were
suspected to be written by him but there was never firm proof and were passed off as fake. One of the
letters read Dear Boss,

Evolution of Cinderella
The Evolution of Cinderella through time
Fairy tales evolve over time as they are told from generation to generation, regardless if they are
passed on by word of mouth or through print. Some have great variations; some are the same except a
few mini details. No matter what the differences, they all have the moral in common at the heart of the
story. With Cinderella, one learns that despite being unappreciated and doomed to serving others, as
long as you are kind natured and a truly good person, your dreams will come true. Cinderella is one of
the most well known and popular fairy tales of all time. Why this is, is a little unclear. Perhaps it is
because her story is so straight forward and simple. As with the moral her ... Show more content on

and shoes for her to wear to the ball. This version uses the tree and the doves as Ashputtle s mother s
spirit to help her out. Her good deeds throughout her life are rewarded as she is watched over by her
dead mother. This version is very much different than the others as evidenced by her lack of contact
with a human or fairy of any sort. There is no mention of how she gets to the ball, only that she does
attend. She goes to the ball for three nights, as in Mather s Cinderella as well. With The Little Glass
Slipper and the History of Cinderella, the balls only lasted two nights. The difference between the
days of the balls does not seem to affect the stories. It appears as if it is just a variation that has
occurred as the story has been passed down through time. Cinderella s grace and forgiveness is
extended to her family at the end of Cinderella, The Little Glass Slipper, and History of Cinderella.

  • 2. Church Meeting Summary The meeting was about the City of Commission of Deland on March six, at seven pm. First, starts discussing how people can address an agenda or an unattended issue that can be given to City Clerk at the proper time. Also, the meeting gives information on how later in the meeting they are going to explain a new resolution of the surplus of the house abandonment. Something very nice that they did at first is how they made a program called Super Stars Students of the month to reward kids for doing greats in school as a way trying to push them to become something important in the future, and not giving up their dreams. Not only had they rewarded the kids but also two employees who were great in services for a long time. As part of the introduction, they give the quarterly financial report prepared by Dan Stauffer, which basically shows that the City is doing well so far into each financial position. The public comments were very professionally done as I saw there not many arguments into the agendas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My conclusion with this meeting is that the city does take care of the opinion of the public as they try to explain the issue in a very clear matter; we could see that the city is trying to become better each day and trying to resolve the problems presented but again is something that the people has to have patience into knowing that these agendas take a long period into being analyzed, approved and executed. This meeting brought me back to what in class we been discussing on how a policy is being made and how it first needs to have a solid argument so it could be approved. So far I never expected for this meet to go very coordinated and smoothly as sometimes is normal for the argument from the public but in this case that was not the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Oroonoko and Gulliver s Travels Essay Oroonoko and Gulliver s Travels By Melissa Eason Mrs. Sarbani Bose Eng 232 69 February 18, 2011 Oroonoko and Gulliver s Travels Gulliver s Travels and Oroonoko shatter the myth that European culture was more civilized than newly discovered savage countries. The most prominent examples in Oroonoko are their treatment of the slaves and how they are punished. In Gulliver s Travels the evidence revolves around how petty, destructive, illogical, and unreasonable human beings act. Though the authors of these stories differ on many levels from their writing style to the very reason why their story was written they have a common theme. They show glaring evidence that European culture is actually more savage than the countries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 320]. This is Oroonoko s response to the captain s betrayal upon their arrival to Surinam. The captain sold Oroonoko to the first bidder when they arrived and not only that they also sold him to a different owner than his other men. But this is only the tip of how savage the Europeans behaved. After Oroonoko, known by this time by his slave name Caesar, had given rise to a revolution he was put to death. The manner in which he was killed is the saddest and most savage display of cruelty. Oroonoko was publicly dismembered and then his body parts were to be distributed to the plantations in order to scare the other slaves into submission. And the executioner came and cut off his members, and threw them into the fire. After that, with an ill favored knife, they cut his ears and his nose, and burned them; he still smoked on, as if nothing had touched him he gave up the ghost, without a groan, or a reproach, [p. 341]. Though some of the gory details are omitted in this quote, it is easy to see the cruelty used in his dismemberment and also the desire to inflict as pain as possible. Something that caught my attention while reading of his death was the choice of words used to describe how Oroonoko s body was hacked apart. To hack at something is to cut it with crude, harsh, and irregular swings. The words mutilate and mangle are commonly used in the definition of hack. In Gulliver s Travels the author ... • 4. My Life Of A Doctor A stethoscope, box of bandages, syringe, and thermometer all made of plastic and enclosed in a small case with a red cross imprinted on the front. These items had been some of my favorite childhood toys and represent how long I have wanted to become a doctor. Apart from a brief carpentry phase when I was 7, I honestly cannot recall a time when my mind was not focused on a future career in medicine. Part of this early interest was undoubtedly spurred by my family s history in the field. I have multiple family members who have been nurses or physicians; however, the largest influence was my Father whom I have looked up to as a role model and example of the kind of doctor that I want to be. I loved that my Dad was a doctor. I realized the importance of his career, but mostly I loved always having someone there to help me through all of my minor and major childhood traumas. When I was young and received a gruesome 4th of July sparkler wound, my Dad was able to calm me down and make me feel safe. Although I may have squirmed and cried, I knew my Father could help me because I knew that he was a Doctor and what that meant. I knew the amount of training he had received, the years of school and residency, and most importantly that I could trust him to take care of me. That level of trust is something that I aspire to gain in the future. As I grew older I became more interested in medicine but for different reasons. The experience that affected my medical aspirations the most in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Gangster Film Analysis Frank Lucas in the 1960 s was the upcoming gangster in Harlem. He was Bumpy Johnson right hand man at first though. Frank would drive Bumpy around, get his lunch, and every now and then kill some people when needed (according to Bumpy). The movie starts off with a powerful scene with a man sitting in a chair having gasoline poured all over him as Bumpy and Frank watch. Once all the gasoline is used, Frank lights up his cigar and throws the lighter on the victim. As he begins to burn in great PAIN frank begins to shoot him repeatedly. It s important to know that during this time Bumpy was appreciated throughout Harlem from all the citizens. As Bumpy begins to tell Frank a very important lesson in taking pride of selling an authentic product he suddenly has a heart attack and dies. Now as for Frank he has two choices, either become the next big gangster of Harlem or become someone else s driver . On the other side of the gang world you have Richie Roberts, who at the time was and up and coming honest cop who is trying to make an honest dollar. Richie and his partner were following up on a lead that one of their informants gave about a mobster bookie having a very large amount of money. After investigating for a little bit longer they in fact did find the bookies car with around one million dollars. It was very unlikely for a cop to turn in that much money, but not for Richie. The major event happening around the world at the time was the Vietnam War. Frank at the time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Self-Destruction In Hamlet Hamlet, a tragic hero with a feigned madness seeking revenge for his deceased father, kills everyone in his path and finally succeeded in taking vengeance for the murder of his father by killing the murderer, Claudius for good. Hamlet s consistent desire to seek revenge for his father s murderer, led him to foreseeable yet tragic downfall. In Hamlet, Shakespeare utilizes the acts of revenge throughout the play to show self destruction and confliction in through characters such as Hamlet. The theme of revenge causing self destruction is established in act two of the book by Hamlet himself. Hamlet proclaims: O, vengeance! Why, what an ass am I! This is most brave, That I, the son of a dear father murder d, Prompted to my revenge by heaven and hell, Must, like a whore, unpack my heart with words, And fall a cursing, like a very drab, A stallion! He uses the word noble which means his decision is strictly based off of what is the more morale option (which seems to be another common theme in Hamlet). In Hamlet s self conflicting soliloquy he is also facing self destruction because his constant suicidal thoughts. His back and forth debating on whether to end his life all stems from the inner guilt he withholds from not taking revenge on Claudius yet. Soko is not at all bitter and does not have any plans to write a bitter breakup ballad, Gossip Cop has learned. A credible source from Soko s circle has said that she is not even in the studio to work on her new record, leave alone penning a breakup song. She is busy promoting her two films The Stopover and The Dancer that debuted at Cannes in May. Soko will return to the studio only after the promotions are over and start working on her music so that her new record may come out in March 2017. Think about those mornings when you forget to eat breakfast and your stomach is growling the whole morning. Now imagine not being able to suppress that feeling. Imagine feeling that hunger day after day. This is reality for almost a sixth of the world s population. Is there any good news? Yes there is. There are many ways for us to reduce world hunger. This essay will look at the causes of world hunger as well as short term, and long term, solutions. World hunger can be solved using a combination of ideas and people working together. In the first world there are 9 million people suffering from hunger. In Canada, the HungerCount survey, organized by Food Banks Canada, counted the number of people using food banks and analysed their living conditions. The hunger issue in Canada has to do with poverty. Only 6% of food bank users own their own home. Even with social assistance, which over 50% of food bank users are receiving as their main source of income, these people cannot meet their basic needs. Child hunger is also an issue in Canada, where 37% of food bank users are children. When a household s income is too low, the children suffer. Many parents don t have the time to take care of their children and work at the same time. Although these facts are about Canada, there are the similar issues facing people all over the first world. • 9. Neorealism Movement In Cinema Italian Neorealism, French New Wave Directors, and Dogme 95 filmmakers were three very important movements in cinema. The first very movement was called neorealism which lasted from 1944 1952 and reacted to the dominant mode of Italian cinema which was based on a fascist regime but also dealt with the socio economic conditions from post world war 2 in Italy. The second movement began around 1958 and was called the French new wave directors and reacted against the industries lack of quality and directors small participation in vision. In 1955 the third wave called Dogme 95 films began and was a movement that was against the big budget Hollywood films and use of special effects. The origin of Italian Neorealism began after the fall of Mussolini s Fascist regime in 1943 and the end of World War 2. Now being free from fascist censorship Italian directors were able to blend cinematic realism with social and political problems facing Italy which would have never been allowed earlier. The term neorealism was first used by film critic Antonio Pietrangeli towards Luchino Visconti s film Ossessione. The French New Wave was started by five French film enthusiast: André Bazin, Jean Luc Godard, Claude Chabrol, François Truffaut, Jacques Rivette who wrote and discuss cinema because they lacked the money to create films themselves. • 10. Magnesium And Hydrochloric Acid Lab Report On November 3, 2017, I conducted an experiment with the purpose of measuring the heat in a reaction between a mixture of Magnesium and Hydrochloric Acid (HCI). While being mixed, the reaction can either release or obtain more energy in an excessive manner. The surrounding environment then can give a measure of the amount of heat energy, and in this case the surrounding environment is a calorimeter. A calorimeter is a tool that is able to isolate the reaction from its surroundings, and is a very essential part of the lab. One must be careful when conducting this experiment so that the calorimeter can successfully retain the energy so the results will be as accurate as possible. There are two possible reactions that can occur during an experiment. The first one is an endothermic reaction, which is when there is a flow of heat coming into the reaction. Socratic Ching For Real True Knowledge Brooke O Neill 2 22 16 PHI 100 The Socratic Method is the oldest named term for an engagement in intellectual dialect amongst two or more parties, this is properly the foremost and truest method of insightful interaction because at its foundation as a style of engagement it is defined to be a discussion in which people who have the capacity to think; as defined by Socrates as being to rationally perceive and sort through sensations and perceptions, through reason, and endless questioning of that of which is both known to be physically tangible and conceptually created, to in fact listen and refute or add to what others have to say in order to reach a clear and concise decisions as to the topic of which is being discussed. Often what people articulate and what they have in their heads rarely perfectly coincides, so by asking questions and allowing them to further elaborate on what they are conveying is a great way to figure out what thought they want you to understand. Another one of my favorite Socratic moments is set in the Apology, where Socrates is before the entire court and so clearly explains his thinking, to everyone except those prosecuting him. The oracle at Delphi, a highly regarded, highly sought after being who was believed to be a prophet of the gods declared Socrates to be the wisest of all men. Socrates concludes this must be because he knows nothing, meaning he is not certain of everything of which he is told and questions all things relentlessly. This display of intellectual humility particularly stands out in the Socrates philosophic mission, as he is not arrogant nor does he always have to be right. In his pursuit of truth he realizes often ones ego gets in the way of true knowledge, for when you are always right you hardly learn anything new, it is by error and questioning that comes the clarification that is knowledge. The Threat Of Large Scale Information Security Breaches This paper will discuss the possibility of large scale information security breaches, the hardware and software hacked, the hardware and software needed to perform a real time attack, and the consequences with performing such an attack. This paper will first define any related terms, then describe the information security systems seen in the WATCH_DOGS video game, then discuss the various hardware and software involved in an attack in regards to the game and real life, and finally conclude with whether or not the concepts in WATCH_DOGS are realistic and possible today. Introduction In the information age of today, the information security is one of the more prevalent issues that drive information security professionals and computer technicians to build smarter and stronger software and hardware. In the virtual world of video games, where the effects of something as devastating as a security breach have no real world repercussions, information security can still be a serious topic. One of a popular video game publisher s new titles that have been released recently has taken the realistic fear of information security and made it into an interesting adventure, where the main protagonist is every credit card owner s worst nightmare: a hacker. Granted, the game s scenario might be too specific to say it could exist in the real world, but how plausible would it be for a hacker to access a major metropolitan information security system if it was ... How do the pigs rewrite history? In the book animal farm, Orwell very carefully created his characters in order to mimic certain political figures of the time. In this case Squealer functioned as the propaganda department. Squealer uses language to keep Napoleon in power. He uses language as a means to consolidate power, in this light truth is an element that can be manipulated through language. This fact is why Boxer is viewed as a treat, despite being an ally napoleon ultimately took the first chance he had to get rid of boxer, and why his eventual fate comes about. Napoleon took full advantage of the disposal of Boxer and knew once he was gone the threat of Napoleon being over thrown was banished, Because even if the animals tried to revolt or protest, he would be able to take control with his almighty army of beast like dogs. In order to understand synaptic aging, the above behavioral experiments will be coupled with electrophysiological measurements of L7MN LESN connections. Briefly, in the above preparation, abdominal ganglion is partially desheathed to gain access to measure electrophysiological properties using sharp electrodes. Similar experiments were performed on R15 neuron in the abdominal ganglia (See Fig 2 3). Specifically, we will measure the resting membrane potential, resistance and postsynaptic potentials (PSPs) before and after different behavior training paradigms described above [6,34]. PSPs are a measure of strength of synaptic connections. These experiments will answer whether during aging (1) passive properties such as basic membrane resting potential and resistance change and (2) active properties such as excitatory and inhibitory postsynaptic potentials change. Children who are overweight are more likely to be obese as adults, increasing their risk for diseases and conditions such as diabetes, heart attack, and high blood pressure (Ashe Edmunds 3). High blood pressure can lead to heart disease, stroke and kidney failure. But weight loss can help reduce high blood pressure, so sports that burn calories address this problem. Depending on the sport that a child participates in, most sports require physical activity. Research has shown that physical movement can affect the brain s physiology by increasing cerebral capillary growth, blood flow, oxygenation, growth of nerve cells in the hippocampus, neurotransmitter levels, development of nerve connections, density of neural network, and brain tissue volume (Donaldson 4). In other words, physical exercise causes short term relaxation, improved concentration, enhanced creativity and memory, improved mood, and enhanced problem solving abilities. Sport can help prevent drug and alcohol abuse by teaching young athletes to be aware of their body and how it responds to different stimuli and circumstances. Athletes learn to value what their bodies can do and to maintain those abilities (Jones 2). However, it is for this very reason that a child would make the perfect social scientist; his or her naivete may provide an excellent means of objective criticism and most often satire. This allows the authors to satirize many aspects of society. These two satirical works make litotes of preposterous situations, thus shedding light on the absurdity at hand. This is an especially effective technique, because a character or narrator is involved in a ridiculous situation. The reader, from an aesthetic distance, is then able to recognize the foolishness of the incident. After careful consideration, a satirical conclusion may be drawn. For example, Voltaire s narrator describes a brutal battle scene in a lighthearted manner: Nothing could have been more splendid, brilliant, smart or orderly than the two armies . . . . then rifle fire removed from our best of worlds about nine or ten thousand scoundrels who had been infesting its surface. The bayonet was also the sufficient reason for the death of several thousand men. (22 23) The diction in this passage is ironic. By referring to a battle as splendid (22) and brilliant (22), the narrator demonstrates how common the idea of warfare has become and how little the human life is valued. Also, the phrase, Our best of worlds (22 23) identifies optimism as a focus of this satirical attack (Maurois 100). In this way, the narrator nonchalantly discusses grave matters. • 31. An Actor Prepares By Constantin Stanislavski All I can do is to help you feel what it is. Even to do that requires great patience, for I shall devote our whole course to it. Or, to be more exact, it will appear by itself after you have studied our whole system of acting and after you yourselves have made the experiment of initiating, clarifying, transforming, simple everyday human realities into crystals of artistic truth. Teacher Mr. Tortsov, teaches his students the fundaments in acting and how to be successful in its art, in Constantin Stanislavski s eye opening book, An Actor Prepares. Throughout reading his book, I learned three main lessons: how the outside impression of an actor looks or how the audience perceives them, the inner motivation and structure of an actor, and lastly, acting is an art and properly portraying a character through the art form. ... Whether that be through analyzing the text for overall theme, adaption to responses done by our scene partners or ensemble, being natural with movements and not mechanical, or working out the overall objective of the play. Analyzing the text of the play influences the character s motivation. If a character is going over to another character s house for no reason other than to hang out, then it slows down the pace of the show down and puts a stop in the energy of the show. Channeling the normal person inside myself, provides a more relatable character to the audience member. The overall objective of the show provides a reason or lesson for the whole play. The sooner I, as an actor, understand and determine the objective, I can better play the character s motivation and drive to what she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. The Influence Of Neorealism On The World War II Neorealism came to fruition as a result of classical realism. While classical realism was based on the inclinations of human nature, neorealism proposed the structural constraints determined the behavior of states in the international realm. After World War II, the call for a politically and economically integrated Europe was of utmost importance among European leaders because of the brutal human and economic cost of the war. The idea of integration came in order to maintain the balance of power in the region, specifically regarding the rise of another expansive Germany type state and to guard against the rise of the nuclear armed Soviet Union. The idea of integration started with the European Coal and Steel Community and the European ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This rationality means they will pursue interests in terms of power according to offensive neorealism, or in terms of security according to defensive neorealism (Collard Wexler, 2006). These two strands have been heavily debated within neorealist theory, particularly by Mearsheimer in favor of offensive neorealism and Waltz in favor of defensive neorealism. John Mearsheimer believes that the goal of states is to maximize power while Waltz believes the goal of states is to maintain their positions in the system (Snyder, 2001). There is no punishment for irrational or aggressive behavior because of the anarchic nature of the system so states must rely on themselves for survival, through the use of power. Due to anarchy, states will balance against their peers by imitation, by boosting their national assets (internal balancing), forming alliances with other states (external balancing) or by adopting the successful power generating practices of the prospective hegemon (emulation) (Wohlforth et.al, 2007) and these 3 processes will prevent hegemony. Neorealism relates to European integration most specifically in terms of the aforementioned balance of power. Nations tend to balance among dominant powers rather than ally with them because they fear that the powerful ally of today could become the menacing rival of tomorrow (Collard Wexler, 2006). This balance, however, should not be confused with cooperation because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Serial Killers Of Jack The Ripper And Lizzie Borden Karis Kennedy Burrow American Lit 11/3/17 Jack the Ripper and Lizzie Borden A serial killer can be defined as a person who commits a series of murders, often with no apparent motive and typically following a characteristic, predictable behavior pattern. (McGraw Hill) While there have always been serial killers, the 1880 s had some of the most significant. Two of the most notorious were Jack the Ripper and Lizzie Borden. While neither were convicted for their crimes, they will both go down in history as some of the world s most brutal killers. In Whitechapel, London in 1888, an insane serial killer roamed the streets who became known as the Whitechapel Butcher. (Jones) No one knows who actually did it so over the years the murderer became known as Jack the Ripper. He targeted prostitutes and brutally mutilated their bodies. A total of women were murdered all of the murders happened with a mile of each other. He was not laid back in how he handled the murders and cut them apart in such a way that was used to clearly show he knew what he was doing. (Cook) The cuts and placement of said cuts were positioned and thought out in a way only a medical professional would think to put them so it is concluded he had to be involved in the medical field. • 35. Evolution of Cinderella The Evolution of Cinderella through time Fairy tales evolve over time as they are told from generation to generation, regardless if they are passed on by word of mouth or through print. Some have great variations; some are the same except a few mini details. No matter what the differences, they all have the moral in common at the heart of the story. With Cinderella, one learns that despite being unappreciated and doomed to serving others, as long as you are kind natured and a truly good person, your dreams will come true. Cinderella is one of the most well known and popular fairy tales of all time. Why this is, is a little unclear. Perhaps it is because her story is so straight forward and simple. As with the moral her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She goes and plants it right by her mothers grave where her tears water it. As it grows, she sits beneath it and uses it for shade. (Grimm, 48) At this moment doves and turtle doves come down with a beautiful dress and shoes for her to wear to the ball. This version uses the tree and the doves as Ashputtle s mother s spirit to help her out. Her good deeds throughout her life are rewarded as she is watched over by her dead mother. This version is very much different than the others as evidenced by her lack of contact with a human or fairy of any sort. There is no mention of how she gets to the ball, only that she does attend. She goes to the ball for three nights, as in Mather s Cinderella as well. With The Little Glass Slipper and the History of Cinderella, the balls only lasted two nights. The difference between the days of the balls does not seem to affect the stories. It appears as if it is just a variation that has occurred as the story has been passed down through time. Cinderella s grace and forgiveness is extended to her family at the end of Cinderella, The Little Glass Slipper, and History of Cinderella. She forgives here sisters for their unkindness towards her and welcomes them with open arms. In History of Cinderella she goes as far as to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
