Doctrine Of Judicial Precedent
The doctrine of judicial precedent form part of the Malaysia system. The legal is one of the general
characteristics of the English legal system. Judicial precedent is a decision of a higher court that will
be binding on a lower court in hierarchy. The doctrine of judicial precedent is also called stare
decisis. The judges will follow the decision or judgement of the previous cases if the facts and law are
similar. For example,Federal Court s decision is binding on Court of Appeal. This means like cases are
treated a like . Precedent may consist of ratio decidendi, obiter dicta and res judicata.Ratio decidendi
means the reason for the decision.lt can be explained as the legitimate reasoning upon which the
judgement in a specific case and the judges may use it in the future cases if the facts of the case is
similar.Sir Rupert Cross defines the ratio decidendi as any rule expressly or impliedly treated by the
judge as a necessary step in searching his conclusion. Obiter dicta means things said by the way, in
Latin phrase. Obiter dicta are anything else said about the law such as remarks, further observations
and opinions on other matters made by the judge.Although obiter dicta have no binding powers,it still
can influence the decision of the judges.Res judicata is the final structure of the court ... Show more

Diversity at Deloitte
Gender amp; Diversity Plan and Policies
When talking about equality opportunities implemented by companies, we can make a differentiation
between two different models, the liberal and the radical one.
The liberal model, described by Jewson and Mason, is emphasized on a philosophy of sameness ,
where people should have access to and be assessed within the workplace as individuals, regardless of
social category.
In the other hand, the radical approach is focused on a positive discrimination where employment
practices are deliberately manipulated in order to obtain a fair distribution of those disadvantaged
groups in the workplace, and it is also focused in achieving not only equality of opportunity but also
equality of outcome. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

GPSIntroduction : GPS on bike has a market in India
The worldwide market for global positioning system (GPS) navigation and locationbased services has
been growing exponentially and is expected to rise to 13.4 billion Rupees in 2014, with a high
compound annual growth rate. Although still at a nascent stage in India, the GPS navigation market
holds tremendous potential for growth, driven by its increasing acceptance among the younger
generation as well as the exponential growth in popularity in car as well as in bike.
However, unlike developed countries where navigation was established by portable navigation devices
(PNDs), followed by vehicles and then smartphones , India is witnessing a reverse trend, says Rajat
Tandon, director ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fourth stage of market evolution, decline, is still some distance away from the Indian market. In
this phase vendors should expect that the product itselfwill become invisible, market reach will be
critical, all will need to look at new markets within existing segments. From a consumer perspective it
will become a commodity product, people with new toy syndrome would change devices periodically
and price would be the only factor when taking decisions. The net result would be similar to what the
mobile phone market is undergoing and volumes would be huge.
Companies Like bajaj, Tvs, Yamaha. need to watch for the above phases and evolve their business
plans such that they emerge as leaders. The challenges are many; the customs duties on import of GPS
devices are very high. There is enough market for all players and it is important to encourage
competition as an engine of growth. Overall, I can safely sum up that while the past has been exciting
and we have lived in interesting times , the future is going to be all the more interesting and exciting
than anyone has ever imagined. Several new markets will be created and leaders will be made of
existing companies or born out of new ones in this space. Let us look forward to a huge growth in the
coming years so that we can sit back and smile when it actually does come our way.

The Ethical Theory Of Virtue Ethics
According to Holland (2011) there are few criticisms of virtue ethics. First, virtue ethics is really
complicated and multiple varieties of the theory of virtue ethics exist. Hence a single summary of VE
cannot completely do justice to this theory and the complexity it encompasses. Second, as VE is
attempted to be used on more specific cases and is tried to be made more concise, the theory tends to
become more inaccurate. The article further suggests the needs for a more comprehensive and specific
explanation of virtue ethics. Although there are criticisms of virtue ethics, there are positive remarks
about it as well. Stephen (2011) cites McDougall, according to whom, virtue ethics might be the best
way to think about and approach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Utilitarianism focuses on the greatest good of society rather than of individuals (Garbutt, Davies 2011)
and the theory makes the assumption that prediction about the results of action can be made and thus
end justify the means (Garbutt, Davies 2011) if the result leads to greater good. So if the technology
can be perfected harming as few individuals as possible and if it can be used to enrich the lives of
many people, more than that was harmed, then a utilitarian approach would approve of this
technology.
Virtues and Vices of Utilitarianism/Consequentialism
A major issue with a utilitarian approach is that when looking at the greater good it sometime neglects
the needs or values of the smaller group. This approach somehow devalues what the smaller group
needs. And this is does not seem just to treat people. Just because a greater number of people requires
a certain treatment, the happiness of the other group should not be sacrificed. But that is what
utilitarianism is about, to make the greatest number of people happy at the cost making the smaller
group unhappy. This aspect of utilitarianism to provide happiness to the greatest number of people at
the cost of others does not seem like a fair approach for an ethical principle. And especially in
medicine this kind of approach should

Health Disparities In Native Hawaiians
This comprehensive assessment identifies how health disparities are intertwined with the
socioeconomic condition the Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Peoples (NHPP) live in. Factors such
as education, wages, affordable housing, and access to health care have a profound effect to on the
lives of NHPP. Among these factors, low educational achievement results in lower wages that affect
the individual s (of family s) access to housing, healthcare, and a better lifestyle. Effects of low

Evaluation Of An Integrated Lesson Plan
Through the lesson plans that we developed, I ve learned how to implement art that is
developmentally appropriate, meaningful, and challenging for students. The integration of art must be
meaningful to the lesson but also challenging for the students. The integrated lesson plan must also
consider a diverse classroom, allowing all students equal access to what is being taught. Most
importantly, art experiences must help each child meet challenging and achievable learning goals. As
teachers, we must observe and assess each individual student in order to design an integrated lesson
plan that is appropriate, meaningful, and challenging. (GPO2) Evaluation of individual child s
development and learning is essential for planning and implementing appropriate curriculum. Teachers
must continually engaging in observational assessment for the purpose of improving teaching and
learning. Designing integrated lessons lead to positive learning outcomes. By integrating art, music,
dance, and movement in lessons it leads to a positive learning environment because it allows students
to get out of their comfort zone. This can help boost children to be confident and accepting of
themselves and each other. Another plus of integrating the arts into curriculum is that it can allow all
students to learn in a way that may be more favorable to them. Studies have proven that students learn
in multiple ways. These learning styles include; visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. By allowing the arts

The civilization is like the colonizer, the master always trying to restrain every natural powerful

Motif Motifs In Macbeth
William Shakespeare s play, Macbeth, explains the tales of a Scottish noble aiming to become the
future King of Scotland. The Scottish noble, Macbeth, is driven by his selfish desires to murder King
Duncan and steal his throne. Along the way, Macbeth s guilt and paranoia begin to take over, causing
him to make unacceptable decisions. Throughout the play, Shakespeare uses several motifs to further
explain his ideas. A motif is a recurring element or symbol that is seen in a literary composition. One
specific motif used by Shakespeare was disordered nature. Unnatural events are featured in many parts
of the play. The first occurrence takes place when Banquo and Macbeth meet the three witches in Act
1 Scene 3. While speaking to Macbeth, Banquo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I chose to major in nuclear engineering here at the Naval Academy. I m really excited to pursue a

Introduction
This report aims to investigate how foreigners see Brazilian culture from an average outsider point of
view. To achieve this, we tried to identify some of the stereotypes that the interviewees had towards
Brazilian culture, particularly in music. The purpose of the collected information is to give the readers
insights of how stereotypes are prejudicial and how they can have huge impacts in big social matters
that can increase social inequality, and therefore prevent prejudice.

interview, and occurred between the 17th of November of 2015 and the 5th of December of 2015.
They consisted in the questions showed in the table asked after some introductory questions created to
know the interviewee. The introductory questions were: * What is your name and how old are you? *
Where are you from? Which city? * How long have you been living in Brazil?
We used these questions to divide the interviewees in different categories in which we searched for
patterns, as can be seen in the Discussion, analysis and results section.

The group searched for foreign people to interview in Portuguese for foreigners classes and in the
members of the group s regular classes, seen that some of them accept exchange students.
Furthermore, the group asked to the interviewees if they had any friends that could be interviewed too.
We ended up with 10 interviewees from the following nationalities, ages and time living in Brazil: *
Three Americans, a 56 year old (6 years living in Brazil) and two 46 year old (one living in Brazil for
8 years, and another for 6 years); * Two Germans, a 24 year old and a 21 year old (both living in

Leaders and Managers in Health Care
Leaders and Managers Impact on Health Care
Healthy working areas are necessary in preserving positive interactions amongst nurses and between
the patients and the nurses. The stressors within nursing may cause burnout and nonattendance or
absenteeism which then may cause a shortage in health care (Shirey, 2006). A leader is vital in helping
to maintain retention of the nursing population as this person will have positive influence on the
environment where nurses practice. A smooth operating environment is likely to have excellent results
for the nurse and the patient. This paper will talk about the nurse to patient ratio, describe leadership
with management, along with a contrast and compare of the two. Furthermore, this paper will ... Show

The manager approach to the nurse to patient ratio may be more indirect. Managers tend to
communicate with nurse leaders regarding work conditions in the unit. At the level of management,
performance matters most and patient satisfaction is important. As long as nurses perform to the best
of their ability, patient satisfaction will increase. In nursing, the management process consists of
gathering data, planning, organizing and administrating staff, leadership, and control. Viewed as a
management activity, the allocation of staff entails the maintenance of a proper workers to work ratio
and is therefore essential for a favorable outcome (Fagerstrom, 2009).
Leadership is influencing people and in contrast, management involves influencing employees to meet
goals and is focused primarily on organizational goals and objectives (Huber, 2010). A few contrasts
are mentioned within the textbook reading. The leader focuses on people, whereas the manager
focuses on systems and structures. A leader innovates whereas a manager administers. And managers
cope with complexity whereas leaders cope with change. (Huber, 2010)
Approach to Leadership
The leadership approach suits this writer s nursing philosophy. This writer believes in similar values as
that of a leader. This writer does her best work on the front lines of nursing; collaborating with teams,
communicating with fellow nurses, and coordinating patient care. This writer is motivated by

Path Of War Essay
The only time wherein the United States became a war theater was during the American Civil War in
the late 1800s. Today, Path of War makes it the location of another war, and it doesn t fail to deliver.
Although it would be horrible if cities like Chicago, San Francisco, and Nevada were to become war

down the oppressive regime that has taken over the United States.

By doing so, you can also reach the end goal, Washington D.C., quicker and easier, especially if you
have to deal with droves of enemies that come your way.
Although the game is pretty promising, it does have its gripes. Since it s a freemium game, the
developer seems to be doing everything it can to make you buy and spend premium currency. For
example, the mundane task of upgrading a building takes three hours or more, and plus, you can t even
save time by upgrading multiple structures at the same time. We understand that Envision
Entertainment wants to maximize profits, but it wouldn t be surprising if numerous players quit after a
few hours.
Furthermore, the progression is slow and clunky and the premise of marching on to Washington is
barely achievable, thanks to its fuel system. Want to launch an attack? It costs a certain amount of
fuel. Want to inch closer to Washington? It costs five times the overall amount you generate per hour.
Overall, Path of War is a decent RTS game and offers a fresh perspective in the genre with its base
building and unique battle system. However, truly enjoying it may require you to constantly purchase

Climate Change Is Caused By Carbon Emissions
Climate change is resulted due to unrestrained pollution. Carbon emissions that enter the earth s
atmosphere have a very dangerous effect on our environment, economy and wellbeing. This major
problem earth is facing can be fixed if we all work as one.
Climate change is caused by carbon emissions being trapped in earth s atmosphere. The pollution that
is trapped in our atmosphere then heats up changing earth s climate patterns. The act of burning fossil
fuels for energy has the biggest contribution to climate change. Scientists are confident that global
temperatures will continue to rise for many years to come, all because of human activities. The
intergovernmental panel on climate change also known as the IPCC came to a conclusion that it is
90% probable that the globe is warming due to human activities over the past 250 years. The IPCC,
has a large depth of knowledge with having over one thousand three hundred scientists. The IPPC
scientists predict a temperature rise of 2.5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit over the next century.
Whilst the climate changes and the globe warms there are several major effects that is having a large
impact on our environment, for example the polar ice caps. Each summer due to climate change the
polar ice cap is melting due to warm water. Sea ice reflects heat from the sun, while water adsorbs it.
Less ice means more heat which means less ice. Temperatures are rising drastically with our last
decade being the hottest on record.

The Development And Maintenance Of Civilization Essay
Over the course of human history, order within society, through its many facets, has been considered
to be a vital part of the development and maintenance of civilization. One such aspect of order,
however, is arguably more important than all other characteristics: the creation and usage of social
constructs. A social construct is defined as a social mechanism, phenomenon, or category created and
developed by society, which aids in either the development or regression of society as a whole. While
more commonly known constructs such as race and gender shape the mindsets of societies and
civilizations as a whole over periods of time, the consequences of the existence of the construct itself
can have both a positive or negative affect. Additionally, many social constructs are interconnected
with each other, not exactly through topic matter but rather by the relationships and connections they
establish with aspects of society and its influence upon it. However, race and gender are not the only
constructs that shape mindsets and opinions, many lesser known ones also affect changes within
society. Such examples include the constructs of higher education and gender bias, two seemingly
different aspects of society and ideals. However, although they do not explicitly mention each other,
Linda Lee and Anne Fausto Sterling establish a clear connection between the two, especially in their
dealings with societal development in their respective essays The Case Against College and

According to Bales (2012) Chritchfield s ideas deem to be a misguided idea. Bales stated that while

Depression usually starts slow takes over a person thinking and then their entire life. However, when
depression is caused by a broken heart, it latches on to the person so quickly. It takes away anything
positive in their life; they will not feel like talking to anyone and their social functioning will
completely shut down .All they would want to do is stay alone and grief the loss of their loved one. A
person might not leave their house for 3 months or more because they feel like they do not deserve the
happiness they might get from that. Not only that but also their work ethics slow down drastically,
they will not complete any work that is given to them because of the lack of motivation they feel.

Brandenburg V. Ohio Speech Analysis
Randolph called for a demonstration on the campus of USD in attempt to stamp out Stalinist
oppression. In Brandenburg v. Ohio (1969), the court established a two pronged test to evaluate speech
acts: (1) speech can be prohibited if it is directed at inciting or producing imminent lawless action and
(2) it is likely to incite or produce such action. During the demonstration, which was attended by
dozens of students, Randolph called for resistance against University policies. In his confession to
Vermillion Police, Randolph admitted that his speech was intended to stir up fellow students.
Although Randolph did not personally destroy campus property or intend for the vandalism occur,
nevertheless, his speech incited others to do so. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
USD officials cited concerns about drug use within the group. However, simply because one member
of the group possesses an illegal substance, it is not grounds for baring an entire group. Administrative
staff should not have requested that the newspaper editor refuse to print editorials submitted by
Randolph. In Near v. Minnesota (1931) the Supreme Court ruled that government cannot censor or
prohibit a publication in advance, even if the communication might be punishable after publication.
USD, a public state University, cannot place prior restraint on Rudolph s editorials as submitted to the
newspaper. After the publication of the editorial those who disagree have the privilege to write a
rebuttal. Even though the editorials in question were calling for resistance, the University can sensor
the material after the fact or punish the writer, but authorities cannot take any action regarding an
article prior to it being printed, per the Near decision. Also, USD cannot prevent or deny requests
made by a group to use designated student meeting areas on campus, unless illegal activity is
involved. Although, Randolph s speech incited violence, the actions of one individual do not indicate
that other members of LPS hold the same beliefs. Therefore, the University cannot punish and ban the
group from having a presence on the University simply

Reality Tv Social Aspects

Media and Society
Paper 1
Social Aspect of Television
Socialization is a fundamental aspect in the life of relatively every human. In the absence of having
the ability or strength to interact socially, we tend to steer away from social norms and isolate
ourselves. One may consider that watching television correlates with the effects of anti socialization
although, one may argue that is not the case. Television is a form of socialization that provides
common ground for people to bond over, allows those lacking a social life to create their own social
word, and provides an environment for conversation.
Taking a look at our society today, television is a dominant way in which humans bond and interact
with one another. According to Susan J. Douglas, Reality TV came to replace, in particular, the lineup
of TV news magazines that had dominated various network schedules in the 1990s. (p. 632). Having a
wider array of reality television gives viewers an immense relationship or connection with the
characters. Douglas then states, ...The structure of the show invites us to empathize with them, judge
them, or both. (p. 633). In this specific quote Douglas is referring to them as the characters in the
reality television shows. Considering we empathize or judge these characters, it gives us a ... Show

A countless amount of individuals in today s society lack social skills and socialization in their lives.
Television allows these individuals a chance at creating their own social worlds. Many individuals
become emotionally attached to characters in specific television shows or series and start to produce
their own friendships and relationships with the characters. As individuals create imaginary
interconnections with characters, they imagine that they obtain legitimate relationships in their lives.
Thus making them feel as if they have a real social

Preserve the Luxury or Extend the Brand Case Analysis Essay
Case Study: Preserve the Luxury or Extend the Brand?
The case study Preserve the Luxury or Extend the Brand presents a fictional dilemma, based on a real
company, faced by Chateau de Vallois, a prestigious and famous wine producing estate in the
Bordeaux region of France. De Vallois is a family owned and run business; part owners are Gaspard
de Sauveterre a 75 year old majority owner, and equal partial owners: Francois de Sauveterre Gaspard
s son and the chateau s CEO , and Claire de Valhubert Garspard s granddaughter. De Vallois had fallen
into a slow decline under its previous owner, but Gaspard along with Jean Paul Oudineaux, his estate
manager, had restored the chateau and since then de Vallois had been steadily profitable ... Show more

The problem that this proposal introduces, according to her uncle Francois, is that it would add too
many unnecessary and uncontrollable risks to the chateau. Such risks include: the need to purchase
grapes to make the wine, raising concerns and possibly harming relationships with the negociants,
investing in a distribution channel, having to take care of the marketing, insurance, and all other
aspects that the negociants already perform for them, and most importantly, it may compromise their
Grand Vin and Puine wines as consumers and vendors perceptions may negatively change toward the
quality and reputation of de Vallois. Going through some of the details within the case, I feel that the
company would benefit from following Claire s general proposal, to create a lower priced brand and
enter a new market. My recommendation is that Chateau de Vallois at least invest time and effort in
researching the market and truly investigating the opportunity for growth. This benefit would be
present so long as de Vallois conducts a thorough market research before entering the affordable
luxury market to gain an understanding of the consumers needs and wants, the demand that is present
in the market for those young wine enthusiasts, and to be able to match de Vallois strengths with these
needs. They would also need to identify where they would want the new label to be positioned,

The Effectiveness of Conservation Intervention for Adults with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: A Critical

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is the entrapment of the median nerve caused by compression or
swelling in the carpal tunnel of the wrist (Radomski and Latham, 2008). Typically it presents as
numbness, tingling, hypersensitivity, or burning sensation causing reduced function of the hand.
Symptoms can be periodic or persistent (Pal, 2001). Aetiology is unknown however women are more

Splinting is an established practice in CTS for mild to moderate symptoms the long term benefits after
12months are unclear but as a therapist splinting to elevate short term symptoms is advisable. This
critical appraisal indicates that splinting should not be generalised to greater population especially in
individuals identified with associated conditions such as arthritis and women who were pregnant who
were excluded from studies. The search strategy undertaken to identify these articles may indicate that
in a period of time prior to 2005, splinting was found to have a certain level of reliability and validity,

Inherit The Wind Moral Analysis
Morals are everywhere in the movie Inherit The Wind and in everyday life. Morals are always
changing and there are different kinds of beliefs everywhere. Merriam Webster describes morals being
of or relating to principles of right and wrong in behavior and a belief as a state or habit of mind in
which trust or confidence is placed in some person or thing. Beliefs and morals go hand in hand when
you think about it. Each one of the billions of people on this earth has different morals depending on
who they and where they are. Our morals are challenged every day and we, ourselves, question them
every hour of the day if they are right or wrong; should we defend our morals or change them?. In the
movie characters beliefs are challenged and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

dear young Rachel. She believed her morals were just like her father s the priest of the town but
wanted to help her lover, Cates, despite his opposite beliefs. She admits in the movie that she fears her
father, later in the film he damns her to hell for associating with Cates. She fears if Cates doesn t
follow everyone else s beliefs she ll lose him, so she tells him to basically follow the townspeople like
a good little sheep so they don t get more in trouble. Through the rest of the movie, she battles herself
of what she believes in almost losing it. At the end, she comes to grasp herself and figures out what
she wants. She became a stronger person now that she knows her own morals letting go of her fear of
her cursing damnation father. She finally finds what her own morals are not what other s want her to

Feral Children In Lord Of The Flies
In the Lord of the Flies the whole plot is centered around these boys who can be seen as feral children.
A feral child is a human child who has lived isolated from human contact. Most of the time these
children will have no experience regarding human care, social niceties, or language. Therefore, most
of the time these children will not be able to speak or even stand up straight. They could also be
unable to use facilities. Another problem a feral child would face is being unable to learn at a normal
speed depending on how long they were isolated this is due to their lack in interest in human activity
around them. This also causes these children to not be able to create bonds with other people. With
this, these children have little to no morals to keep them in check because they are willing to do most
anything to justify what they or someone else does. This is the same way for the island boys because
they were on their own on this deserted island with no adults to tell them what to do or what not to do.
Over the course of time these boys began to lose themselves and not even have the same morals as
they did before the plane crashed. It can be argued that the reason the boys became feral on while on
the island ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

prove that the boys are becoming more instinctual because at the start of the book they all still had
their morals from their parents and had not been in a situation where they needed to break them.
However, they are now beginning to face more impactful decisions and situations. One could also
look at it as there are now more things threatening the survival of the boys which cause them to make
riskier decisions. The choices that they choose is what makes the boys more instinctual. Not the
choices themselves but what comes out of their decision and not the situation is

The Emergence Of Scientific Management
The emergence of scientific management
Frederick W. Taylor is called the father of scientific management who is world famous through his
book named The Principles of Scientific Management . The Principles of Scientific Management was
first published in the early 20th century. Through his work, Frederick W. Taylor described that the
process of scientific management can increase total worker organizational efficiency.
The theory of scientific management was not invented by one day. It took many times for Frederick
W. Taylor to understand that time s organizational structure; workers behavior machinery tools etc. the
idea was generated in his mind because he worked in various firms during the late 19th century,
starting in 1878 with Midvale steel company. He worked there several years recognized some of the
process of the factory operation. He realized, at that time the management had no clear knowledge of
working responsibilities or management responsibilities. There wasn t any organized or structured
work standard. The managers were taking their decision with guess, past experience, intuition which
in many time resulted in failure. The workers efficiency level didn t grow.
Frederick w. Taylor was promoted to chief engineer at the age of twenty eight. At that time he also
saw that the bonding among the workers and the foremen is too weak like struggling over the quantity
of output. Taylor wanted to implement some general method to solve that matter, but he understood

Q: Tell me how you got started in this field? What was your education? What educational background
or related experience might be helpful in entering this field? A: An Investment Consultant typically
holds a bachelor s degree in finance, accounting, investment analysis or taxation. A Liberal arts major
or a job seeker with a lower degree also may enter the field, provided he receives practical training.
An investment consultant who has major managerial responsibilities, or advises clients or families
with high net worth, usually has a master s degree in finance or taxation. Some wealth managers with
prior public accounting experience may have certified public accountant (CPA) licenses. 2. Q: What
are the daily duties of the job? A: An investment consultant reviews a client s personal financial
statements, scales income and expense levels and evaluates the risk profile. A client s risk profile
indicates whether he/she prefers risky investments such as stocks or favors less risky assets such as
bonds or Treasury notes. A private banker evaluates a client s cash availability and then recommends
investment strategies based on the risk profile. A personal financial adviser also may advise a
customer on tax saving strategies. So in the end, it s about telling the client how to investment their
money, based on their capital.

Egoism And Egoism In Peter Parker s Spider Man
The stimulus that I have chosen for this internal assessment is a scene from the movie, Spider Man 2.
Peter Parker struggles to find a balance between his Spider man life and his life as a citizen; his grades
are steadily declining at university, he gets fired from his job and cannot find any time for his friends.
In the scene that I selected, Parker realizes that he has a choice, that there are no obligations for him to
climb walls and fight crime for a safer environment. He then decides to throw his Spider Man costume
in a bin and forget about his super hero life, in order to focus on his own life. As a result, his life as an
individual is thriving, his grades at university are getting better, and he doesn t have to fight crime
anymore, which offers him more time for his beloved ones and personal ambitions.
150 words Should an individual act for his own benefit? Or should he act for the sake of others? In
ethics it is assumed that right actions demand an individual to act for the sake of others, this concept is
known as altruism. However this view is challenged by the concept of egoism: the idea of putting our
own interests to benefit ourselves before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is clear that an unjust man who has possession of the ring would act egoistically. But what about the
righteous man? Since he would not have any consequences for what he does, he does not feel fear, in
that case why would he act altruistically? According to Glaucon, he would not act altruistically, as
there are no consequences to his actions. I personally think that it depends on a lot of factors and the
person himself. For example a priest that has acted altruistically throughout his life will probably act
altruistically even while he possesses the ring of Gyges. He probably does not want to act egoistically
and the way he was brought up and educated will influences the ethics of choices he will

The Apology And Interpretation Of The Trial Of Socrates
The Apology is Plato s account and interpretation of the trial of Socrates (399 BC). When the Thirty
Tyrants were ruling Athens, Socrates was asked by them to help capture Leon of Salamis, a wealthy
man. This arrest was to be made simply because Leon was a just Democrat and the Tyrants wanted to
take his huge estate for themselves. Socrates disobeyed these orders hence why he was later executed
as a traitor of Athens. Meletus was the man who then brought Socrates before a jury for prosecution.
Socrates pleaded innocent in his trial. Similarly, several arguments are used to support the idea that he
was innocent and should not have been executed. In his argument for his innocence, Socrates poses
his defense before the jury as shown by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He made people think he was smarter than everyone else, and that he would always argue better than
they could. Moreover, he always aimed at embarrassing people with tough arguments rather than
trying to educate or correct them. In this specific argument with Euthyphro, he tries to understand the
meaning of holiness, although his state of mind is to show his companion that he always wins in
arguments. To begin with, Socrates asks for the meaning of holiness. Euthyphro responds by stating
that holiness is what he is doing; prosecuting the wrongdoer even if it is his own father. However,
Socrates is not satisfied with this answer and pins down the argument by adding that there are more
holy things and that it is an example not a definition.
Socrates way of arguing with people always led to heated debates, and most people usually walked
away from him. He was always a nuisance when it came to explaining matters involving doing things
the way that they were done. Just as he argued with Euthyphro, he did the same with the Tyrants. They
had issued a command that he should help in the arrest Leon, the Democrat. It was highly likely that
Socrates would oppose this move as he was always against what people did as long as he was not
satisfied. He found no reason to go after Leon and did not trouble himself with answering to the

Judicial precedent is a decision of a higher court that will be binding on a lower court in hierarchy. The doctrine of judicial precedent is also called stare decisis. The judges will follow the decision or judgement of the previous cases if the facts and law are similar. For example,Federal Court s decision is binding on Court of Appeal. This means like cases are treated a like . Precedent may consist of ratio decidendi, obiter dicta and res judicata.Ratio decidendi means the reason for the decision.lt can be explained as the legitimate reasoning upon which the judgement in a specific case and the judges may use it in the future cases if the facts of the case is similar.Sir Rupert Cross defines the ratio decidendi as any rule expressly or impliedly treated by the judge as a necessary step in searching his conclusion. Obiter dicta means things said by the way, in Latin phrase. Obiter dicta are anything else said about the law such as remarks, further observations and opinions on other matters made by the judge.Although obiter dicta have no binding powers,it still can influence the decision of the judges.Res judicata is the final structure of the court ... • 3. Diversity at Deloitte Gender amp; Diversity Plan and Policies When talking about equality opportunities implemented by companies, we can make a differentiation between two different models, the liberal and the radical one. The liberal model, described by Jewson and Mason, is emphasized on a philosophy of sameness , where people should have access to and be assessed within the workplace as individuals, regardless of social category. In the other hand, the radical approach is focused on a positive discrimination where employment practices are deliberately manipulated in order to obtain a fair distribution of those disadvantaged groups in the workplace, and it is also focused in achieving not only equality of opportunity but also equality of outcome. ... • 4. Gps Assignment GPSIntroduction : GPS on bike has a market in India The worldwide market for global positioning system (GPS) navigation and locationbased services has been growing exponentially and is expected to rise to 13.4 billion Rupees in 2014, with a high compound annual growth rate. Although still at a nascent stage in India, the GPS navigation market holds tremendous potential for growth, driven by its increasing acceptance among the younger generation as well as the exponential growth in popularity in car as well as in bike. However, unlike developed countries where navigation was established by portable navigation devices (PNDs), followed by vehicles and then smartphones , India is witnessing a reverse trend, says Rajat Tandon, director ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fourth stage of market evolution, decline, is still some distance away from the Indian market. In this phase vendors should expect that the product itselfwill become invisible, market reach will be critical, all will need to look at new markets within existing segments. From a consumer perspective it will become a commodity product, people with new toy syndrome would change devices periodically and price would be the only factor when taking decisions. The net result would be similar to what the mobile phone market is undergoing and volumes would be huge. Companies Like bajaj, Tvs, Yamaha. need to watch for the above phases and evolve their business plans such that they emerge as leaders. The challenges are many; the customs duties on import of GPS devices are very high. There is enough market for all players and it is important to encourage competition as an engine of growth. Overall, I can safely sum up that while the past has been exciting and we have lived in interesting times , the future is going to be all the more interesting and exciting than anyone has ever imagined. Several new markets will be created and leaders will be made of existing companies or born out of new ones in this space. Let us look forward to a huge growth in the coming years so that we can sit back and smile when it actually does come our way. Cultural implication for gps entry in Indian market... • 5. The Ethical Theory Of Virtue Ethics According to Holland (2011) there are few criticisms of virtue ethics. First, virtue ethics is really complicated and multiple varieties of the theory of virtue ethics exist. Hence a single summary of VE cannot completely do justice to this theory and the complexity it encompasses. Second, as VE is attempted to be used on more specific cases and is tried to be made more concise, the theory tends to become more inaccurate. The article further suggests the needs for a more comprehensive and specific explanation of virtue ethics. Although there are criticisms of virtue ethics, there are positive remarks about it as well. Stephen (2011) cites McDougall, according to whom, virtue ethics might be the best way to think about and approach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Utilitarianism focuses on the greatest good of society rather than of individuals (Garbutt, Davies 2011) and the theory makes the assumption that prediction about the results of action can be made and thus end justify the means (Garbutt, Davies 2011) if the result leads to greater good. So if the technology can be perfected harming as few individuals as possible and if it can be used to enrich the lives of many people, more than that was harmed, then a utilitarian approach would approve of this technology. Virtues and Vices of Utilitarianism/Consequentialism A major issue with a utilitarian approach is that when looking at the greater good it sometime neglects the needs or values of the smaller group. This approach somehow devalues what the smaller group needs. And this is does not seem just to treat people. Just because a greater number of people requires a certain treatment, the happiness of the other group should not be sacrificed. But that is what utilitarianism is about, to make the greatest number of people happy at the cost making the smaller group unhappy. This aspect of utilitarianism to provide happiness to the greatest number of people at the cost of others does not seem like a fair approach for an ethical principle. And especially in medicine this kind of approach should ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Evaluation Of An Integrated Lesson Plan Through the lesson plans that we developed, I ve learned how to implement art that is developmentally appropriate, meaningful, and challenging for students. The integration of art must be meaningful to the lesson but also challenging for the students. The integrated lesson plan must also consider a diverse classroom, allowing all students equal access to what is being taught. Most importantly, art experiences must help each child meet challenging and achievable learning goals. As teachers, we must observe and assess each individual student in order to design an integrated lesson plan that is appropriate, meaningful, and challenging. (GPO2) Evaluation of individual child s development and learning is essential for planning and implementing appropriate curriculum. Teachers must continually engaging in observational assessment for the purpose of improving teaching and learning. Designing integrated lessons lead to positive learning outcomes. By integrating art, music, dance, and movement in lessons it leads to a positive learning environment because it allows students to get out of their comfort zone. This can help boost children to be confident and accepting of themselves and each other. The Scottish noble, Macbeth, is driven by his selfish desires to murder King Duncan and steal his throne. Specifically, if given the opportunity, I would like to pursue questions concerning radiation shielding possibly for space applications or materials that could be used to better safeguard against nuclear fallout after an explosion for application in the construction of military vehicles to protect the occupants of the vehicle. I am confident that I will be able to narrow my research to a clearly defined research topic that has real world application use as I continue studying nuclear engineering. Leaders and Managers in Health Care Leaders and Managers Impact on Health Care Healthy working areas are necessary in preserving positive interactions amongst nurses and between the patients and the nurses. The stressors within nursing may cause burnout and nonattendance or absenteeism which then may cause a shortage in health care (Shirey, 2006). A leader is vital in helping to maintain retention of the nursing population as this person will have positive influence on the environment where nurses practice. A smooth operating environment is likely to have excellent results for the nurse and the patient. This paper will talk about the nurse to patient ratio, describe leadership with management, along with a contrast and compare of the two. Furthermore, this paper will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The manager approach to the nurse to patient ratio may be more indirect. Managers tend to communicate with nurse leaders regarding work conditions in the unit. At the level of management, performance matters most and patient satisfaction is important. As long as nurses perform to the best of their ability, patient satisfaction will increase. In nursing, the management process consists of gathering data, planning, organizing and administrating staff, leadership, and control. Viewed as a management activity, the allocation of staff entails the maintenance of a proper workers to work ratio and is therefore essential for a favorable outcome (Fagerstrom, 2009). Leadership is influencing people and in contrast, management involves influencing employees to meet goals and is focused primarily on organizational goals and objectives (Huber, 2010). A few contrasts are mentioned within the textbook reading. The leader focuses on people, whereas the manager focuses on systems and structures. A leader innovates whereas a manager administers. And managers cope with complexity whereas leaders cope with change. (Huber, 2010) Approach to Leadership The leadership approach suits this writer s nursing philosophy. Carbon emissions that enter the earth s atmosphere have a very dangerous effect on our environment, economy and wellbeing. This major problem earth is facing can be fixed if we all work as one. Climate change is caused by carbon emissions being trapped in earth s atmosphere. The pollution that is trapped in our atmosphere then heats up changing earth s climate patterns. The act of burning fossil fuels for energy has the biggest contribution to climate change. • 19. The Development And Maintenance Of Civilization Essay Over the course of human history, order within society, through its many facets, has been considered to be a vital part of the development and maintenance of civilization. One such aspect of order, however, is arguably more important than all other characteristics: the creation and usage of social constructs. A social construct is defined as a social mechanism, phenomenon, or category created and developed by society, which aids in either the development or regression of society as a whole. While more commonly known constructs such as race and gender shape the mindsets of societies and civilizations as a whole over periods of time, the consequences of the existence of the construct itself can have both a positive or negative affect. Additionally, many social constructs are interconnected with each other, not exactly through topic matter but rather by the relationships and connections they establish with aspects of society and its influence upon it. However, race and gender are not the only constructs that shape mindsets and opinions, many lesser known ones also affect changes within society. Such examples include the constructs of higher education and gender bias, two seemingly different aspects of society and ideals. However, although they do not explicitly mention each other, Linda Lee and Anne Fausto Sterling establish a clear connection between the two, especially in their dealings with societal development in their respective essays The Case Against College and ... • 25. Reality Tv Social Aspects Madi Fisher Media and Society Paper 1 Social Aspect of Television Socialization is a fundamental aspect in the life of relatively every human. In the absence of having the ability or strength to interact socially, we tend to steer away from social norms and isolate ourselves. One may consider that watching television correlates with the effects of anti socialization although, one may argue that is not the case. Television is a form of socialization that provides common ground for people to bond over, allows those lacking a social life to create their own social word, and provides an environment for conversation. Taking a look at our society today, television is a dominant way in which humans bond and interact with one another. According to Susan J. Douglas, Reality TV came to replace, in particular, the lineup of TV news magazines that had dominated various network schedules in the 1990s. (p. 632). Having a wider array of reality television gives viewers an immense relationship or connection with the characters. The case study Preserve the Luxury or Extend the Brand presents a fictional dilemma, based on a real company, faced by Chateau de Vallois, a prestigious and famous wine producing estate in the Bordeaux region of France. De Vallois is a family owned and run business; part owners are Gaspard de Sauveterre a 75 year old majority owner, and equal partial owners: Francois de Sauveterre Gaspard s son and the chateau s CEO , and Claire de Valhubert Garspard s granddaughter. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem that this proposal introduces, according to her uncle Francois, is that it would add too many unnecessary and uncontrollable risks to the chateau. Such risks include: the need to purchase grapes to make the wine, raising concerns and possibly harming relationships with the negociants, investing in a distribution channel, having to take care of the marketing, insurance, and all other aspects that the negociants already perform for them, and most importantly, it may compromise their Grand Vin and Puine wines as consumers and vendors perceptions may negatively change toward the quality and reputation of de Vallois. Going through some of the details within the case, I feel that the company would benefit from following Claire s general proposal, to create a lower priced brand and enter a new market. My recommendation is that Chateau de Vallois at least invest time and effort in researching the market and truly investigating the opportunity for growth. This benefit would be present so long as de Vallois conducts a thorough market research before entering the affordable luxury market to gain an understanding of the consumers needs and wants, the demand that is present in the market for those young wine enthusiasts, and to be able to match de Vallois strengths with these needs. Therefore, most of the time these children will not be able to speak or even stand up straight. They could also be unable to use facilities.
