The, The Melting Pot, And The World
Culture is described as the set of beliefs, customs, ways of thinking and behaving that exists in a
particular society. Meanwhile, the act of having a sense of reality can be described as knowing the
world or the state of things as they exist. Reality has a flimsy definition because one s own reality
could be different compared to another. However, a person s culture will affect how they think and
thus manipulate their perception of reality. Common examples of this are: route of upbringing,
political views, holistic medicinal approaches and most importantly, religion. The United States of
America has many different cultures present throughout the entire nation. That is why it is commonly
referred to as the melting pot of the world. This being said, people raised in different parts of the
United States will be apart of different cultures and thus different senses of reality. Someone raised in
the South will have a different culture than someone raised in the North. While this doesn t completely
alter their sense of reality, it does affect it. Even two neighbors will have different senses of reality
because in general, upbringing affects reality. Being optimistic will create opportunities and also
impact how to live your life on a day to day basis (Creagan). In indian culture, a symptom of being
lonely likely reflects a sense of social marginalization, (Watters 518). The sense of reality Indians
posses and what they feel as the truth of being lonely is impacted by

Tracking and Positioning of Mobile Systems in...
ABSTRACT
Mobile positioning technology has become an important area of research, for emergency as well as for
commercial services. Mobile positioning in cellular networks will provide several services such as,
locating stolen mobiles, emergency calls, different billing tariffs depending on where the call is
originated, and methods to predict the user movement inside a region. The evolution to location
dependent services and applications in wireless systems continues to require the development of more
accurate and reliable mobile positioning technologies. The major challenge to accurate location
estimation is in creating techniques that yield acceptable performance when the direct path from the
transmitter to the receiver is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2.1 ARCHITECTURE OF A GEOLOCATION SYSTEM
An example of geolocation system architecture [KOS00] is shown in Figure. As we said earlier, in
order to fix a call the subscriber we are calling must be located accurately. A geolocation service
provider provides location information and location aware services to subscribers. Upon a request
from a subscriber for location information about an MS, the service provider will contact a location
control center querying it for the coordinates of the MS. This subscriber could be a commercial
subscriber desiring to track a mobile device or a PSAP trying to answer an E 911 call. The location
control center will gather information required to compute the MS s location. This information could
be parameters such as received signal strength, BTS ID, TOA of signals, and so on that we discuss
later. Depending on past information about the MS, a set of BS s could be used to page the MS, and
directly or indirectly obtain the location parameters. These are sometimes called Geolocation base
stations (GBSs). Once this information is collected, the location control center can determine the
location of the mobile with certain accuracy and convey this information to the service provider. The
service provider will then use this information to visually display the MS s location to the subscriber.
Sometimes the subscriber could be the MS itself, in which case the messaging and

Teamwork Reflection
For our teamwork presentation this week, diving into the concept of teamwork and how to build and
collaborate as an efficient team, we found a different sense of unity and collaboration that we were
unaware of before the preparation for our presentation. For our team s main topics, we covered the
differences between a team and a group, and the vague similarities between the two. From the
textbook comparisons, we consider ourselves a team rather than a group of people because of our
common goals before our presentation date. We were all working together to collaborate and got our
ideas across to the class to present a topic that is both interesting and informative to our fellow
classmates. A team is described as a group of people that all work towards a common goal and have
objectives to work towards together, rather than individuals coming together to perform and complete
their individual goals. The roles that the members of our team performed were a complete
collaboration of ideas and thoughts. We spoke together and did not believe that there was any set
person that performed more or less than others within the group. We each put our thoughts together
and created a lesson plan for the class and broke into where we felt each of our strengths were for the
lesson plan of our presentation. Jordan introduced the chapter and how it was relevant to the class, as
well as concluded the presentation. Alexa brought her teaching skills to light by explaining the activity
through our lesson plan and assigned groups to go to their allotted location around the room.
Following that, Nhi, Meredith and Indrit provided examples of their knowledge for our fellow peers
and giving them a better understanding of the curriculum in the textbook and how we chose to relate it
to our activity in the classroom. All in all, we performed as a team and built our lesson plan based on
our strengths and weaknesses as a collaborating machine in our communication class. The norms that
were established even before our group began, was to ensure that we were all timely about
communicating with one another and to make ourselves available to give us enough time to complete
the presentation in a timely manner. Other norms include constantly being

The Thematic Concept Of Fear In Beowulf And Gilgamesh
Overall Introduction:
For years, literature has been used to teach us important morals and life lessons. These life lessons are
often universal in nature. This means that no matter what age, gender, or status a person is, anyone can
relate to the theme being discussed. For this reason they are called universal themes. Non universal
themes are themes that are specific to the story being told, but are not considered universally
understood. The following demonstrates that Beowulf and Gilgamesh both have the same universal
thematic statement concept of fear in addition to a multiple non universal themes throughout them.
Thematic Discussion When looking at the universal theme Gilgamesh and Beowulf, the thematic
concept is fear. The thematic statement for this universal theme would be: In literature, as well as in
real life, man often my come up against someone or something he fears and then must decide whether
or not they will act in cowardly or courageous way . The thematic concept for Beowulf that is a non
universal theme would be political generosity. The thematic statement would be that: In Beowulf, one
can see how generosity and hospitality were considered very important to the Danish culture.
However, this not considered a universal theme, because although generosity and hospitality may have
been considered very important attributes at the time Beowulf was written, not every culture of the
time considered these nicetes to be of the highest importance. The thematic

Informative Speech Outline
Specific Purpose: At the end of my speech, my audience will have a better understanding of EDM
culture.
Thesis Statement: Electronic Dance Music is more than just bops and scratching sounds; it s a way of
life.
Introduction: (Play YouTube video from 1:38 1:58). What you just heard were the sounds of EDM.
EDM stands for electronic dance music. Also you saw first hand the inside of a rave called Electric
Daisy Carnival (a Las Vegas event famous for finding yourself under the electric sky ). What rave
culture means to me is a place I can be myself and express my creativity in a judgment free
environment. Today, I am going to explain the history behind the top 3 most popular genres of EDM,
and the meaning behind rave culture.
I. The different types of EDM I will be talking about is Dubstep, House, and Trap A. The first genre of
music I will be talking about is Dubstep. 1. Dubstep originated in South London, and traced back to
the Jamaican sound system in early 1980 s. a. This type of music played in secret underground clubs.
This genre was taboo to most people. 2. Dubstep was made popular in the United States by an artist
named Skrillex. a. The music website Allmusic classifies The overall sound of Dubstep is classified as
tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass lines and reverberant drum patterns, clipped
samples, and occasional vocals (Bush 2012). (Insert sound clip here) B. The second genre of music I
will be talking about is House. 1. The origination of house music in the United States began in
Chicago s Southside in 1977. a. A new type of club created, given the name The Warehouse. 2.
Frankie Knuckles is, The Godfather of House. 3. Early DJ techniques seen in the The Warehouse 4.
House music was generally characterized by repetitive 4/4 beats, rhythms mainly provided by drum
machines, off beat hi hat cymbals, and synthesized baselines (Cambell 2012). (insert sound clip here)
C. The third and final genre of music I will be talking about is Trap, my personal favorite. 1.
Originated from 1990 s Southern hip hop. Some elements used by artists like Outkast, Ghetto Mafia,

The Assessment Of Nuclear Atypia, Mitotic Count And...
The assessment of nuclear atypia, mitotic count and lymphocyte infiltration in invasive lesions are
challenging areas of diagnostic pathology with significant discordance among pathologists. This
significant inter and intra observer discordance can have a negative impact on clinical care, as these
factors can be used to guide clinical decisions today (e.g., use of chemotherapy in high grade breast
cancer) and may have an even larger impact on clinical decisions in the future (e.g., assessment of
tumor infiltrating lymphocytes to guide the use of immunotherapies). Thus, the accurate pathological
diagnosis represents a critical decision point in clinical medicine, and there would be tremendous
clinical utility to a more objective, reproducible and informative technology for the assessment of
breast pathology. During my PhD training, I developed methods for mitosis detection in color and
multispectral breast cancer histopathological images8,9, and I was a recipient of a copyright from
CNRS France (CNRS Software No. DL 05963 01). In the ICPR 2012 contest on mitosis detection in
breast cancer histological images, the color method I developed ranked second of 17 participants and
the multispectral method I developed significantly outperformed other contestants results. Building on
this prior work, in Specific Aim 3, I will extend these methods for advanced microscopy to analyze
nuclei atypia, mitotic activity and lymphocytic infiltration from 3D lightsheet microscopy images, and

The American Dream, And All Its Splendor (Great Gatsby)...
The 1920s were a decade of rebirth characterised by the founding of the quot;American
Dream quot; the belief that anyone can, and should, achieve material success. The defining writer of
the 1920s was F. Scott Fitzgerald whose most famous novel, The Great Gatsby, has become required
reading for present day high school students. We study Fitzgerald s novel for the same reason we
study Shakespeare. The literature composed by both authors contains themes and morals that continue
to be relevant to modern society. As a result, this novel could have easily been written in modern
times. In his novel, Fitzgerald criticises the American Dream by describing its negative characteristics:
class struggles between the rich and the poor, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I thought he knew something about breeding but he wasn t fit to lick my shoe (Fitzgerald 39). The
adulterous behaviour of Myrtle and Tom, as well as the carelessness of Daisy and Jordan, illustrates
the corruptibility of the rich.
Both Tom and Daisy are morally corrupt, having little concern for how they treat the people around
them. Daisy and her husband display their indifference to human values in episodes involving sexual
exploitation and careless violence (Fahey 72). The Buchanans are not the only shallow ones, Jordan is
incurably dishonest and her opinion that It takes two to make an accident, (Fitzgerald 63) is an attempt
to justify of her thoughtlessness. They were careless people, Tom and Daisy they smashed up things
and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was
that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made, (Fitzgerald 187) says
Nick. Since the wealthy social class which they belong to is immoral, they can get away with being
corrupt; a corruption that comes from a false sense of security in their money, and the belief they have
achived the american dream.
One of the faults in the American dream is that it equates material wealth and possessions with
happiness. However, not everything, nor everyone, can be bought. Nick,

I Am A Neonatal Nurse
Nursing has a variety of different specialties. The specialty I am most excited for is neonatal. Neonatal
nurses are nurses who care for premature babies, otherwise known as neonates. They have many
different job responsibilities, including, assessing a client s pain, caring for them, and understanding
what is best for the specific client. Despite all the criticism about my career choice, I have reinforced
my decision by learning about the effects of stress, the type of care nurses implement, and best
practices of neonatal nurses. Before coming to school I knew I aspired to be a neonatal nurse, although
I was not aware of everything that went along with it. I was a premature baby, along with my older
sister. We were both diagnosed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This at first, did not make a whole lot of sense to me, but now it does. When a baby has gone through
stress in utero, they have built up a tolerance to stress and pain. Their bodies have felt factors of strain,
and can deal with it a lot better than babies who have not been exposed to stressful events before.
However, after a neonate is born, it is critical to prevent stress as much as you can. Babies are
constantly being assessed, held, bathed, and fed. Swaddling has been proven to help distress neonates
by being wrapped up in a blanket tightly (Buonocore Bellieni, 2007, p. 87). You can imagine the
immediate shock neonates encounter once leaving their mother s womb. There they desperately suffer
while discovering their new, constricted condition. They are pinned to their little bed by gravity,
deprived of their usual reassuring gestures (sucking their thumb, playing with their umbilical cord,
placenta, or feet, masturbating, or swallowing amniotic liquid) because of their lack of motor
coordination. They have lost their freedom and any kind of potential initiative; they are now
submissive and become passive. Many of them escape into their own world and anesthetize their
perceptions; they dissociate themselves, which later on will influence their way of living. I am often

Essay On Road Trip
What would the United States be like without road trips? Road trips have been a vital part of the
history of America. Road trips have helped Americans explore the vast lands that make up the US.
These people take these trips for family vacations, solo vacations, business, to move to a new location,
to escape. These trips help people gain a better understanding of people and different cultures within
their own country. This question is posed in David Campany A Short History of the Long Road Is
America imaginable without the road trip? (p.8) Without people exploring the land and having a desire
to move and start new many towns and cities would not have been started. People like to explore and
see new things that they may not have in their birthplaces. This sense of exploring is what drives the
American road trip.
When cars like the Model T helped people afford their own car people wanted to travel. They wanted
to take family trips or leave behind their old lives. As cars advanced, trips began to go over longer

Galileo s Letter To The Grand Duchess Christina

Galileo Galilei, Letter to the Grand Duchess Christina
Galileo was an astronomer, mathematician, and an Italian physicist. In the early 1600s, he was the
greatest European scientist (The Human Record, 41). Galileo Galilei was also a devout Catholic.
Galileo wrote the letter, The Grand Duchess of Tuscany, in 1615. This letter defends his approach to
science and religion in a published letter addressed to the Grand Duchess Christina (The Human
Record, 41). From my reading, Grand Duchess Christina seemed as if she was a person of high
authority so he addressed the letter to her. With all of his knowledge and skills, he developed new
ideas as well as new discoveries. Galileo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated in the book, His public support of Copernicus disturbed Catholic theologians, who were
convinced it undermined correct belief and the authority of the church (The Human Record, 41). So,
therefore these new findings of ideas did not agree with the way the Catholic Church was organized or
the power of which the church held. Copernicus created this theory that was supported by Galileo.
This theory argued about what was at the center of the universe, which was not the earth, but it was
the sun (The Human Record, 41). Finding new discoveries regarding science was the idea Copernicus
had in mind. He wanted people to become more interested in finding things as if they were scientist
like himself. On the other hand, Galileo wanted people to stop including the bible into scientific
findings. One of Galileo s findings as stated in the book, I hold the sun to be situated motionless in the
center of the revolution of the celestial orbs while the Earth rotates on its axis and revolves about the
sun (The Human Record, 42). Galileo made an attempt to explain that his findings do not discredit the
religion or the church. He just believed that religion and science could

Essay on The Hijab
How Identity is Represented Through Gender:
Femininity and the Hijab
An individual s identity can differ depending on several different physical and biological factors
including sexuality, gender, age and class. Throughout Ruby Tabassum s article entitled Listening to
the Voices of Hijab, identity is related to gender in a number of ways. I have decided to discuss this
specific article because the idea of how femininity is portrayed is a significant aspect of Canadian
culture nowadays. I am also interested in focusing on how the identities of Muslim women are
recognized in society and how individuals interpret the meaning behind wearing the hijab. Throughout
this article, I have distinguished several different reasons for wearing ... Show more content on

This is a significant aspect of the course because the article examines the strengths and weaknesses of
femininity through a cultural Muslim perspective and the reading is a prime example of how
ideologies regarding race affect those involved. In class we have discussed the significances of social
constructs and how assumptions are made on the basis of physical characteristics. In this situation,
identity is related to gender as Muslim women are categorized as both good/respectful and
rebellious/evil individuals because they are apart of a culture where they are both oppressed and
liberated simultaneously. The hijab used as a symbol of the Muslim culture is just one characteristic of
how it can be perceived; the hijab is also a sign of life, safety and personal identity (Tabassum, 2006,
p. 37). Tabassum (2006) interviews an individual by the name of Raheelah who identifies the hijab as
not just a piece of clothing that covers a Muslim women s face, but also as a portrayal of themselves
as a person (p. 37). I think that this is an important aspect of Canadian culture for feminine identity to
be recognized appropriately and respectively rather than being looked down upon. There are several
stereotypes within society which makes it difficult for any female to portray themselves as decent and
demonstrate morality; thus the hijab is one way for Muslim women to take advantage of its purpose
and be recognized as proper as the hijab somewhat

types of procedures. But, bad things can also be a result such as complications of surgery. Plastic
surgery is a growing industry because of high obesity rates and associated health risks, in spite of high
costs, risks, complications and the struggle weight maintenance after the surgery.
According to an article in The Canadian Press by Mike Stobbe, 40 percent of adults and 18.5 percent

Abdominoplasty, also know as the tummy tuck is a skin removal surgery that consist of one operation.
When people lose a tremendous amount of weight they have a lot of excess skin left over, this surgery
helps them escape from the leftover skin. In this surgery, if needed, the surgeon will tighten muscles
that were stretched out from previous weight gain. Julia Nathan had an Abdominoplasty after losing
110 pounds from having a gastric sleeve. This procedure removes great amount of your stomach, in
Julia s case it removed 80 percent. In Julia s Abdominoplasty surgery she had 7 pounds of skin

Danger Signals
As they mature, dendritic cells leave the peripheral tissues and migrate to the lymph nodes and other
lymphatic organs. In the paracortex of lymph node, a dendritic cell interacts with lymphocytes, such as
T cells presenting antigens for further processing by the adaptive immune system.
4.1.1.2 PAMP, Danger, Safe and Inflammation Signals
The Danger Model holds that the maturation of dendritic cells is controlled by signaling molecules
named Pathogen Associated Molecular Pattern (PAMP), danger, safe and inflammation signals found
in the surrounding tissue. Tissues experiencing stress or damage emit danger signals while healthy,
unstressed tissues emit safe signals. Some molecular patterns commonly found along with bacteria
and other pathogens also act as danger signals.
Sufficient stimulus by danger signals causes dendritic cells to become fully mature. This causes them
to express signaling molecules that indicate the antigens they present were found in a dangerous
environment. Mature dendritic cells promote immune reactions to ... Show more content on

The Medicine Bag, AndApache Girl s Rite Of Passage,
What are the steps to maturity? In the short story, The Medicine Bag , Martin, the main character, and
in the video, Apache Girl s Rite of Passage , Dachina, both have similarities and differences in their
traditions teaching them the significance of maturity. In addition, there are advantages and
disadvantages to either reading the text or watching the video. Initially, there are many similarities that
are valued in Martin s and Dachina s Native American traditions. Mainly, both traditions are about the
topic of life and how Martin and Dachina have to go through a process in order to enter adulthood.
Martin and Dachina learn how to become mature by accepting to keep their cultures alive and willing
to do the responsibilities that each of their traditions provide. For example, the author in The Medicine
Bag states, Thank you, Grandpa, I said softly and left with the bag in my hands. That night Mom and
Dad took Grandpa to the hospital. Two weeks later I stood alone on the lonely prairie of the
reservation and put the sacred sage in my bag. This shows how Martin agreed to complete his duty of
putting the sacred sage into his medicine bag, making him responsible. Besides, Great Grandpa had a
difficult journey, which made Martin respect him and not put down the medicine bag. Similarly,
Dachina didn t reject her family s beliefs, since she completed the ritual and also didn t seem careless.

The Pros And Cons Of Twin Metals
Copper is a common material used in our daily lives. We use it for electrical generators and electrical
wiring. It is used in our phones and other technology. With the increase in demand for technology, the
need for copper for those products has also increased. Twin Metals is a Minnesota mining company
that wants to open an underground copper mine near the boundary waters. The Boundary Waters
Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) is a Minnesota preserve in the Superior National Forest that has
hiking trails and lakes for canoeing. They do not allow motorised vehicles on the preserve. The
question I m investigating is Can Twin Metals open and safely operate a copper mine near the
BWCAW?
Twin Metals has spent more than five years conducting environmental studies that they plan to use in
their Environmental Impact Statement. The copper mine will produce tailings which are waste left
over from mining and extracting resources. Twin Metals plans to store half of the tailings as cemented
backfill in the mine. The rest will be stored in the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF). Twin Metals also
conducted tests that show the tailings will not generate acid. Another pro is that they will create about

World War II as a Time of Opportunities for American...
World War II as a Time of Opportunities for American Women
World War II was the catalyst that changed the opportunities available to women and eventually the
way they were regarded as a viable workforce. Suddenly women throughout the United States were
pushing themselves to their limits to support the war effort. Women were fulfilling jobs and
responsibilities that many previously believed to be impossible for their gender. Opportunities were
opened in steel plants, ammunition factories, and even the United States military. As the war
progressed the number of male workers declined dramatically. Society had no choice but to turn to the
mothers, sisters, and daughters of our nation for help. The results for each woman varied ... Show

jobs like teaching, civil service. Men worked in manufacturing and dominated the professions. Women
did clerical work, or worked on the lower scale in a factory, or worked as domestics in other people?s
homes.? (Dr Strom and Wood, pg. 1) More married women were at work in the 1930?s than in the
1920?s but they held the lowest paying jobs.
Society at this time did not view women as equals and the pay they received reflected this attitude. ?In
1939 male teachers made an average salary of $1,953 while female teachers were paid a mere 1,394;
male social workers averaged $1,718 while their female counterparts received a salary of $1,442.
There was an expectation that women worked until they married then their husband would support the
family.? (Chafe, pg. 63) This attitude was seen in the salaries women throughout America received
prior to and during the early part of the war in small communities and the United States Government.
Even when faced with a shortage of man power most factories were reluctant to place women into
physically demanding jobs and even more reluctant to pay them a salary equal to their male
counterparts. Two businesses that employed such tactics were the Chemical Plant and the Arsenal built
in Huntsville, Alabama in 1941. Originally known as Redstone Ordnance Plant it was renamed the
Redstone Arsenal in February 1943. It produced items

The Wanderer And The Dream Of The Rood Comparison Analysis
In the poems The Wanderer and The Dream of the Rood, anonymous authors give way to the idea that
an Almighty God will solve every problem a person has by doing two things: 1) drawing upon the
memories of a warrior who has lost everything near and dear to him due to war, and 2) entering the
dream of a man who has been exiled and isolated. Each piece takes its reader through the trials and
tribulations that one may not relate to in this era, yet the reader is still there alongside the character
wanting them to find peace with their world and themselves. Initially, it is believed that the characters
will overcome their hardships and achieve the happiness they seek. However, as the reader delves
deeper into the character s story, there is an overwhelming sense of incompleteness. What actually
happens at the end of each piece is not written in stone telling us the story is not whole nor has a
conclusion been reached. The intrapersonal thoughts being shared with the reader reveal the obstacles
that keep an overall wholeness from occurring. Starting with The Wanderer, the speaker begins his tale
by reminiscing upon his trials and tribulations of which he has suffered a great deal and longs for
relief, the Almighty s mercy (118). He has lost his friends and no longer has anyone to confide in,
forcing him to be alone with his thoughts: So I must hold in the thoughts of my heart (118). In the
midst of his grieving, the Wanderer recalls a joyous occasions, such as when his friend and lord helped
him to the feast (119), only to realize that what once was, is no longer. He finds comfort in his dreams,
longing to be back with his liege lord again only to awaken and have reality come shattering down
upon him (119). However, he comes to the conclusion that through hardship and suffering, one
matures, grows, learns his place in life and how a good man holds his words back, tells his woes not
too soon, baring his inner heart before knowing the best way (120). Throughout this piece, the
Wanderer is struggling with losing much of what made his life whole and debating whether or not the
war was worth the suffering he is faced with with no one by his side. There is a constant battle
between longing for those

Galileo s Influence On Nicolaus Copernicus
During the 16th and 17th centuries, a scientific revolution transpires which inevitably yields the basis
of our modern scientific knowledge. This new vision in science has been examined by the use of
sophisticated mathematics along with observations. One of the revolutionary discoveries is honored to
the famed Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. He developed a heliocentric model of the universe.
Prior to his time, an earth centered model, also known as the Ptolemaic model, was believed because it
was simply common sense that the earth was motionless as the sun rises and set from east to west,
respectively. Unlike Nicolaus Copernicus, his predecessors believed in geocentrism; the theory which

Copernicus was well aware of this, therefore, he published his work shortly before his death.
Additionally, his book was also banned. Later on, his book entitled De Revolutionibus Orbium
Celestium, translated to On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres, has been an influential in our
time. Although there was one scholar, after Copernicus s time, by the name of Galileo, who suffered a
consequence appointed by the church. Galileo was permitted to write about new scientific theories
because in his time, in 1623 Pope Urban VIII had an appreciation for such new discoveries. Galileo
was able to support the heliocentric theory as he used the revolutionary instrument, the telescope,
systematically. The observations he made explained that Copernicus is in fact right. Therefore, Galileo
wrote a book entitled Two Chief Systems of the World in 1632, which he defends Copernicus theory
and censures the Ptolemy s and Aristotle s model. Inevitably, the papal Inquisition placed Galileo on
trial for heresy. He was punished for his writing, that was banned, and he was also put under house

John Bowlby Attachment Theory Research Paper
In the late 1960 s John Bowlby created the attachment theory. The attachment theory is a concept in
developmental psychology, which in personal development concerns the importance of attachment.
Specifically, it makes the claim that the ability for an individual to form an emotional and physical
attachment to another person. It gives a sense of ability and security necessary to take risks, to branch
out, to grow, and develop a personality. The attachment theory is mainly focused on long term
relationships and bonds, particularly between a parent and child.
Bowlby defines the attachment theory as a lasting psychological connectedness between human
beings. Comfort, security, and nourishment come with the formation of attachment bonds. Bowlby
suggests that attachment comes in four phases, the pre attachment phase, the indiscriminate ... Show

the families and continuing to hide the families. She also had to try to get resources to the families

Summary Of John Steinbeck s East Of Eden
In John Steinbeck s novel, East of Eden, one sees how past events such as the hostile interactions
between brothers, Adam and Charles, effects the attributes of future characters such as Cal. These
proceedings mold and form Cal s character, influencing not only his actions, but also his resonating
self condemnation at the end of the novel. Without these former occurrences, the reader would be
otherwise blind to the curse of the brothers as seen through the parable of Cain and Abel and to the
overriding theme of good versus evil presented not only in the brother s relationship but also in the
scenery of the Salinas Valley.
Furthermore, from the very beginning of the novel, it is obvious, that there was always a favorite
brother. In Adam s childhood, he persisted to be the favorite child of Cyrus Trask. Good hearted and
trusting of others, unlike his stolid and unemotional brother, Charles, Adam got a seemingly innocent
gift for his father s birthday, a pup, a gift that would service his father until the day he died. This
personalistic gift unlike Charles materialistic gift of a knife, for which Cyrus Trask never used or
admired, serves to be the wedge between the two and the ultimate reasoning behind the various
beatings Adam received as a child. This past occurrence unfortunately continues to the present and
forms Cal s character, a jealous son looking to gain his father s love, a heart already stolen by Aron, a
similar personality to that of his youthful father. However, although apparent as Adam s favorite might
be, it is Cal s decision on how to cope with this obvious choice. Likewise, to envious Charles, who
acted only out of violence, Cal acts out of anger, bringing his only brother to the place that would hurt
him the most, his mother s whorehouse. This reoccurring theme of good versus evil guides Cal future
decisions in terms of being the person he wants to be and refuting the overwhelming curse of brothers.
Moreover, just as Cal and Aron relate to their father and his brother, Charles, they also fall under a
biblical or brotherhood curse . The story of Cain and Abel depicts two brothers, one who s fueled by
jealousy (Cain), kills his brother over the favoritism God had on the two gifts presented

Soviet Union. The group was referred to as Adolant which means justice in Uzbek. This movement
began in the Fergana Valley region which sits in Namangan, Uzbekistan (Stein, 2014, para. 2). In 1998
the IMU shifted its operations to overthrow the current leadership of Uzbekistan and follow Sharia
making it an Islamic State. The IMU did not agree with the way Islom Karimov was running
Uzbekistan as president (encyclopedia of espionage, 2015, para. 1). Osama Bin Laden provided the
IMU with 130,000 dollars in a trip to the mountains of Tajikistan. The money was handed directly to
Namangani who was the current financier for the IMU (Ruzaliev, 2004, para. 9).
According to Ruzaliev (2004), A few weeks later, a meeting took place in Karachi between the
members of Islamic organizations from Pakistan, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, the Palestine, Kashmir,

The High Cost of College Tuition
College Tuition
The cost of college education in the 21st century is absolutely ridiculous. although colleges have to
make money to support things like sports, it is making it so more and more kids aren t going to
college, and the kids who do go are coming out with huge amounts of debt. People who go to college
aren t coming out with the job that they think they deserve, which is leading to lower income, and a
harder time paying off their college debt.
The first part of this paper is going to be talking about how college is so over priced and why it
shouldn t be so expensive. By colleges making the price of their tuition so high it is making it so that
less kids are able to go to college, which makes it so that when kids come out of high school they are
working at low end jobs and are having trouble making enough money to support themselves. In 1930
tuition was fairly low, and students could attend wharton Business school for $250 (best online
colleges). This relates back to the thesis about how less kids are going to college because of how much
money it. back in 1930 almost 70% of kids went to college. In 2013 only about 50% of high school
grads are going to college. And for the 50% of kids who are going to college, most of them are coming
out with huge amounts of debt that is taking them year to pay off.
Because of the drastic rise in college tuition, it has made it so that the kids who are going to college
are coming out with more debt than they can handle. Between

A Streetcar Named Desire-A Tragic Hero
There are nine types of heroes in this world, each of them with their own unique stories, plots, cliches
etc. Among those is the classic tragic hero, one who is destined to fail no matter what. In a Streetcar
Named Desire, the tragic hero is Blanche Dubois, an aging Southern Belle living in a state of
perpetual panic about her fading beauty. In this essay it will be discussed what makes Blanche a tragic
hero and how she compares to a typical tragic hero.
A typical tragic hero is first and foremost, born of noble stature. This gives the hero something to fall

from, so they can fall from grace (Avril Lavigne, Nobody s Home). Blanche Dubois born in Laurel,

(a family home) after being declared a woman of loose morals. This was because years earlier,
Blanche s husband committed suicide after she expressed her distaste on his sexuality. She later had
many affairs trying to numb her grief on the death of her husband.
The second condition for a tragic hero is what is called Hamartia, a tragic flaw that causes the
downfall of the hero. Blanche s tragic flaw is that she is dependant on men, so much so that she makes
choices and does things that are morally questionable. She manipulates and lies to potential suitors to
make herself seem more attractive and younger which in her mind is the only way a man will love her.
She does this with Harold Mitch Mitchell and it seems to be working until Mitch is informed of all the

Role Of Eglin Air Force Base During World War II

The primary mission of the Base during World War II was to perform operational suitability testing for
the Army Air Corps.
Eglin Air Force Base was originally started as Valparaiso Airport in 1933. There was a purchase of an
arrow head shaped parcel of 137 acres. The area was cleared for use as an airdrome. On 1 March

May 1941, the Army Air Corps designated Eglin as the Air Corps Proving Ground, removing it from

the control of the Chief of Air Corps. The primary purpose of the Proving Ground was to provide a

Due to increasing size, Eglin Field was renamed Eglin Field Military Reservation in recognition of its

that he would go to prison like his father. The other expressed a desire to rise above his inner city

While SAISD s population is 98% minority, the Anglo population in Alamo Heights totals slightly

Hawaii is a tropical island with a moderately warm climate year round. Because of its climate, visitors

However, in the summer, it can rival Hawaii for heat. In Wyoming people spend a great deal of time

mountains just like Wyoming. The Grand Teton mountains are stunning to look at and have snow on
top of each peak. Hawaii has one main mountain called Mauna Kea which has snow on top of it even
in warm climate. The activities and food are the same in Hawaii and Wyoming. In Hawaii, my family
went to a luau which was like a cookout. Here, they served roasted pig in the ground, sides, and fruit.
The food is not much different than in Alabama. However, some restaurants did serve bison burgers
and different fish than I am used to. In Wyoming, we went to two different cookouts. The first one was
on Snake River and they served steak, potatoes, corn, and rolls. The second cookout on a wagon ride
had the same food as the first one, which is similar to food in Alabama. Some restaurants served lamb,
bison, and tenderloin that my family is not used to. The transportation in Hawaii and Wyoming is the
same. My parents and I had to fly from Atlanta to both states because it is such a great distance. We
had to rent a car on both trips. To get around the Big Island of Hawaii or to see hidden places, driving
a long distance was required. Wyoming took at least thirty minutes to get from one place to

Reflection About Art
I have never been into art or liked the arts for that matter, I cannot draw to save my life and being
creative with art brings my imagination to a halt. When I saw this project, I wasn t sure what I would
use to help make the art, most people I saw were using metals, but I wanted to do something different
and that made me nervous. But I had an even harder time figuring out what I wanted to create. I had
about a million ideas in my head, but had an extremely hard time looking at things that I found and
picturing them all together becoming a sculpture.
I started out with sticks and paper garbage that I had found around my home and the places where I
walk my dogs. I didn t know what I wanted to do with them, but I felt like they were the material I
wanted to use. After I had gathered enough sticks and pieces of paper that I found on the ground I sat
down and tried to brainstorm what I could make. I came up with the idea of getting the sticks together
in a ball and gluing the trash paper on to create the look of the continents and the sticks be a globe. I
figured out very fast that the sticks would not hold together, even after I soaked them in water. I
ditched that idea and moved on to a new one.
I still had all the garbage that I found and figured I could make good use of that. After ditching the
sticks (not on the ground I put them in my green trash can so they could be picked up and disposed of
properly) I focused on the paper materials that I had picked up. I thought

Job Aspests of Anesthesiologists, Radiologists, and...
What three jobs interest me? Personally I m interested in being a Radiologist of course, but I m also
intrigued with being an Anesthesiologist or a physician s assistant. During this mini research project I
will be discussing general core requirements, and just general aspects of the job itself. For instance the
salary for each of the profession and expected job prospects. The medical field is quite vast in its
selection of job careers even within the same job you can be many different titles while doing the
same thing. One of the careers I had chosen was to be a radiologist. Radiologists are physicians who
use cutting edge imaging technology to examine organs and tissues inside the body in gentle,
noninvasive ways. Their expertise in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Granted when you look for a career you also have to think about job outlook. For the field in
radiology there are plenty of job openings and even a shortage in specialist for this field. Now there is
training involved to become a radiologist you have to go to medical school, then apply for a residency
which can last between 1 3 years. Also state licensure is mandatory for all practicing physicians
including radiologists. In the year 2013 government mandated the requirement for passage of a two
part examination covering medicine, anatomy, imaging modalities and physics. Another career I am
interested in is the field of Anesthesiology. To become an anesthesiologist there are several course that
are required as prerequisites such as calculus, general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, and
physics. As well as completing a bachelor s degree. Then after completing the four year bachelor s
degree medical school is required to further on in this career. After medical school, a physician
choosing anesthesiology as his or her specialty completes a year of internship and then three years of
residency. Some anesthesiologists choose to specialize in pain management, as opposed to traditional
surgical anesthesia. Pain management anesthesiologists generally run an office based practice,
administering a variety of injections, pain blocks, and medications to help patients manage chronic or

Meanwhile, the act of having a sense of reality can be described as knowing the world or the state of things as they exist. Reality has a flimsy definition because one s own reality could be different compared to another. However, a person s culture will affect how they think and thus manipulate their perception of reality. Common examples of this are: route of upbringing, political views, holistic medicinal approaches and most importantly, religion. The United States of America has many different cultures present throughout the entire nation. That is why it is commonly referred to as the melting pot of the world. This being said, people raised in different parts of the United States will be apart of different cultures and thus different senses of reality. Someone raised in the South will have a different culture than someone raised in the North. While this doesn t completely alter their sense of reality, it does affect it. Even two neighbors will have different senses of reality because in general, upbringing affects reality. Being optimistic will create opportunities and also impact how to live your life on a day to day basis (Creagan). In indian culture, a symptom of being lonely likely reflects a sense of social marginalization, (Watters 518). The sense of reality Indians posses and what they feel as the truth of being lonely is impacted by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A geolocation service provider provides location information and location aware services to subscribers. Upon a request from a subscriber for location information about an MS, the service provider will contact a location control center querying it for the coordinates of the MS. This subscriber could be a commercial subscriber desiring to track a mobile device or a PSAP trying to answer an E 911 call. The location control center will gather information required to compute the MS s location. This information could be parameters such as received signal strength, BTS ID, TOA of signals, and so on that we discuss later. Depending on past information about the MS, a set of BS s could be used to page the MS, and directly or indirectly obtain the location parameters. These are sometimes called Geolocation base stations (GBSs). Once this information is collected, the location control center can determine the location of the mobile with certain accuracy and convey this information to the service provider. The service provider will then use this information to visually display the MS s location to the subscriber. Sometimes the subscriber could be the MS itself, in which case the messaging and ... • 4. Teamwork Reflection For our teamwork presentation this week, diving into the concept of teamwork and how to build and collaborate as an efficient team, we found a different sense of unity and collaboration that we were unaware of before the preparation for our presentation. For our team s main topics, we covered the differences between a team and a group, and the vague similarities between the two. From the textbook comparisons, we consider ourselves a team rather than a group of people because of our common goals before our presentation date. We were all working together to collaborate and got our ideas across to the class to present a topic that is both interesting and informative to our fellow classmates. A team is described as a group of people that all work towards a common goal and have objectives to work towards together, rather than individuals coming together to perform and complete their individual goals. The roles that the members of our team performed were a complete collaboration of ideas and thoughts. We spoke together and did not believe that there was any set person that performed more or less than others within the group. We each put our thoughts together and created a lesson plan for the class and broke into where we felt each of our strengths were for the lesson plan of our presentation. Jordan introduced the chapter and how it was relevant to the class, as well as concluded the presentation. Alexa brought her teaching skills to light by explaining the activity through our lesson plan and assigned groups to go to their allotted location around the room. Following that, Nhi, Meredith and Indrit provided examples of their knowledge for our fellow peers and giving them a better understanding of the curriculum in the textbook and how we chose to relate it to our activity in the classroom. All in all, we performed as a team and built our lesson plan based on our strengths and weaknesses as a collaborating machine in our communication class. The norms that were established even before our group began, was to ensure that we were all timely about communicating with one another and to make ourselves available to give us enough time to complete the presentation in a timely manner. Other norms include constantly being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Thematic Concept Of Fear In Beowulf And Gilgamesh Overall Introduction: For years, literature has been used to teach us important morals and life lessons. These life lessons are often universal in nature. This means that no matter what age, gender, or status a person is, anyone can relate to the theme being discussed. For this reason they are called universal themes. Non universal themes are themes that are specific to the story being told, but are not considered universally understood. The following demonstrates that Beowulf and Gilgamesh both have the same universal thematic statement concept of fear in addition to a multiple non universal themes throughout them. Thematic Discussion When looking at the universal theme Gilgamesh and Beowulf, the thematic concept is fear. The thematic statement for this universal theme would be: In literature, as well as in real life, man often my come up against someone or something he fears and then must decide whether or not they will act in cowardly or courageous way . The thematic concept for Beowulf that is a non universal theme would be political generosity. The thematic statement would be that: In Beowulf, one can see how generosity and hospitality were considered very important to the Danish culture. However, this not considered a universal theme, because although generosity and hospitality may have been considered very important attributes at the time Beowulf was written, not every culture of the time considered these nicetes to be of the highest importance. The assessment of nuclear atypia, mitotic count and lymphocyte infiltration in invasive lesions are challenging areas of diagnostic pathology with significant discordance among pathologists. This significant inter and intra observer discordance can have a negative impact on clinical care, as these factors can be used to guide clinical decisions today (e.g., use of chemotherapy in high grade breast cancer) and may have an even larger impact on clinical decisions in the future (e.g., assessment of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes to guide the use of immunotherapies). Thus, the accurate pathological diagnosis represents a critical decision point in clinical medicine, and there would be tremendous clinical utility to a more objective, reproducible and informative technology for the assessment of breast pathology. During my PhD training, I developed methods for mitosis detection in color and multispectral breast cancer histopathological images8,9, and I was a recipient of a copyright from CNRS France (CNRS Software No. DL 05963 01). In the ICPR 2012 contest on mitosis detection in breast cancer histological images, the color method I developed ranked second of 17 participants and the multispectral method I developed significantly outperformed other contestants results. The defining writer of the 1920s was F. Scott Fitzgerald whose most famous novel, The Great Gatsby, has become required reading for present day high school students. We study Fitzgerald s novel for the same reason we study Shakespeare. The literature composed by both authors contains themes and morals that continue to be relevant to modern society. Their bodies have felt factors of strain, and can deal with it a lot better than babies who have not been exposed to stressful events before. However, after a neonate is born, it is critical to prevent stress as much as you can. Babies are constantly being assessed, held, bathed, and fed. Swaddling has been proven to help distress neonates by being wrapped up in a blanket tightly (Buonocore Bellieni, 2007, p. 87). You can imagine the immediate shock neonates encounter once leaving their mother s womb. There they desperately suffer while discovering their new, constricted condition. They are pinned to their little bed by gravity, deprived of their usual reassuring gestures (sucking their thumb, playing with their umbilical cord, placenta, or feet, masturbating, or swallowing amniotic liquid) because of their lack of motor coordination. Road trips have helped Americans explore the vast lands that make up the US. These people take these trips for family vacations, solo vacations, business, to move to a new location, to escape. These trips help people gain a better understanding of people and different cultures within their own country. This question is posed in David Campany A Short History of the Long Road Is America imaginable without the road trip? In this situation, identity is related to gender as Muslim women are categorized as both good/respectful and rebellious/evil individuals because they are apart of a culture where they are both oppressed and liberated simultaneously. The hijab used as a symbol of the Muslim culture is just one characteristic of how it can be perceived; the hijab is also a sign of life, safety and personal identity (Tabassum, 2006, p. 37). Tabassum (2006) interviews an individual by the name of Raheelah who identifies the hijab as not just a piece of clothing that covers a Muslim women s face, but also as a portrayal of themselves as a person (p. 37). I think that this is an important aspect of Canadian culture for feminine identity to be recognized appropriately and respectively rather than being looked down upon. The Wanderer And The Dream Of The Rood Comparison Analysis In the poems The Wanderer and The Dream of the Rood, anonymous authors give way to the idea that an Almighty God will solve every problem a person has by doing two things: 1) drawing upon the memories of a warrior who has lost everything near and dear to him due to war, and 2) entering the dream of a man who has been exiled and isolated. Each piece takes its reader through the trials and tribulations that one may not relate to in this era, yet the reader is still there alongside the character wanting them to find peace with their world and themselves. Initially, it is believed that the characters will overcome their hardships and achieve the happiness they seek. However, as the reader delves deeper into the character s story, there is an overwhelming sense of incompleteness. What actually happens at the end of each piece is not written in stone telling us the story is not whole nor has a conclusion been reached. The intrapersonal thoughts being shared with the reader reveal the obstacles that keep an overall wholeness from occurring. Starting with The Wanderer, the speaker begins his tale by reminiscing upon his trials and tribulations of which he has suffered a great deal and longs for relief, the Almighty s mercy (118). He has lost his friends and no longer has anyone to confide in, forcing him to be alone with his thoughts: So I must hold in the thoughts of my heart (118). In the midst of his grieving, the Wanderer recalls a joyous occasions, such as when his friend and lord helped him to the feast (119), only to realize that what once was, is no longer. He finds comfort in his dreams, longing to be back with his liege lord again only to awaken and have reality come shattering down upon him (119). However, he comes to the conclusion that through hardship and suffering, one matures, grows, learns his place in life and how a good man holds his words back, tells his woes not too soon, baring his inner heart before knowing the best way (120). • 23. Galileo s Influence On Nicolaus Copernicus During the 16th and 17th centuries, a scientific revolution transpires which inevitably yields the basis of our modern scientific knowledge. This new vision in science has been examined by the use of sophisticated mathematics along with observations. One of the revolutionary discoveries is honored to the famed Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. He developed a heliocentric model of the universe. Prior to his time, an earth centered model, also known as the Ptolemaic model, was believed because it was simply common sense that the earth was motionless as the sun rises and set from east to west, respectively. Although there was one scholar, after Copernicus s time, by the name of Galileo, who suffered a consequence appointed by the church. Galileo was permitted to write about new scientific theories because in his time, in 1623 Pope Urban VIII had an appreciation for such new discoveries. Galileo was able to support the heliocentric theory as he used the revolutionary instrument, the telescope, systematically. The observations he made explained that Copernicus is in fact right. Therefore, Galileo wrote a book entitled Two Chief Systems of the World in 1632, which he defends Copernicus theory and censures the Ptolemy s and Aristotle s model. Inevitably, the papal Inquisition placed Galileo on trial for heresy. He was punished for his writing, that was banned, and he was also put under house arrest until the day he ... • 26. Summary Of John Steinbeck s East Of Eden In John Steinbeck s novel, East of Eden, one sees how past events such as the hostile interactions between brothers, Adam and Charles, effects the attributes of future characters such as Cal. These proceedings mold and form Cal s character, influencing not only his actions, but also his resonating self condemnation at the end of the novel. Without these former occurrences, the reader would be otherwise blind to the curse of the brothers as seen through the parable of Cain and Abel and to the overriding theme of good versus evil presented not only in the brother s relationship but also in the scenery of the Salinas Valley. Furthermore, from the very beginning of the novel, it is obvious, that there was always a favorite brother. In Adam s childhood, he persisted to be the favorite child of Cyrus Trask. Good hearted and trusting of others, unlike his stolid and unemotional brother, Charles, Adam got a seemingly innocent gift for his father s birthday, a pup, a gift that would service his father until the day he died. This personalistic gift unlike Charles materialistic gift of a knife, for which Cyrus Trask never used or admired, serves to be the wedge between the two and the ultimate reasoning behind the various beatings Adam received as a child. This past occurrence unfortunately continues to the present and forms Cal s character, a jealous son looking to gain his father s love, a heart already stolen by Aron, a similar personality to that of his youthful father. However, although apparent as Adam s favorite might be, it is Cal s decision on how to cope with this obvious choice. Likewise, to envious Charles, who acted only out of violence, Cal acts out of anger, bringing his only brother to the place that would hurt him the most, his mother s whorehouse. This reoccurring theme of good versus evil guides Cal future decisions in terms of being the person he wants to be and refuting the overwhelming curse of brothers. Moreover, just as Cal and Aron relate to their father and his brother, Charles, they also fall under a biblical or brotherhood curse . The story of Cain and Abel depicts two brothers, one who s fueled by jealousy (Cain), kills his brother over the favoritism God had on the two gifts presented ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People who go to college aren t coming out with the job that they think they deserve, which is leading to lower income, and a harder time paying off their college debt. The first part of this paper is going to be talking about how college is so over priced and why it shouldn t be so expensive. By colleges making the price of their tuition so high it is making it so that less kids are able to go to college, which makes it so that when kids come out of high school they are working at low end jobs and are having trouble making enough money to support themselves. In 1930 tuition was fairly low, and students could attend wharton Business school for $250 (best online colleges).
