Far Western Blot analysis:
Far Western Blot analysis is the technique mostly resembles Western Blot analysis, but differs in
way that proteins are separated on a blot. Biotinylated non antibody proteins are used for
immobilizing the protein of interest, which are then overlaid with an antibody with streptavidin.
Many proteins show considerable affinity for biotin which is a co factor in many eukaryotic
biological processes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fluorescent signals are emitted when there is reaction between the immobilized protein and the
probe, which are captured by the laser scanners. Thus they are used in protein expression profiling,
studying protein protein interactions, enzyme substrate interactions, protein ligand interaction and
differentially expressed proteins screening on a large scale.

Criminal Justice Policy Analysis
The assumption one may hold regarding policy making in criminal justice is that individuals are
well informed about conviction rates as well as arrests, which influences changes in the criminal
justice system. However, such assumption raises doubts on the severity of punishment. Further,
perceived probability of arrest is related to subsequent criminal behavior. Such an argument is
based on the belief that people with lower perceived probabilities of arrest are more likely to get
involved in crimeduring subsequent periods.
Policy Making
Policy making refers to the process of making plans for action, deciding, and identifying different
alternatives, for instance, spending priorities or programs, by policy makers depending on what
they consider ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further, the policy makers may also determine the consequences and costs of the policy and
identify whether such policy did solve a different problem that originally intended or if it achieved
its goals at a reasonable cost. The policy analysis process safeguards against harm to the people by
ensuring that the policy made does not affect them negatively.
Perceptions Compared to the Definitions in the Readings
According to the readings, the definitions of policy making and policy analysis are detailed with
a focus on why, what, how, and when they can be applied to the policy process. However, one
may give definitions that are general and majoring on the overview of the terms. However, the text
provides clear relationship on policy making and policy analysis and how they work together.
Additionally, the definitions provide a clear beginning point for the application of the terms in real
life in addition to supporting facts that the terms may be defined by an individual who is not
conversant with the criminal justice field.

Commentary On The Book Where The Red Fern Grows
One of my favorite things to do is read, except textbooks I don t like reading them. I like a book
that can keep me engaged, one that makes it hard to put down, or a book that has me thinking
about it well after I am finished reading it. This assignment has been a little difficult for me
because I can t decide on a book, however one book keeps popping into my mind so I think that is
the one I will share. It is called Where The Red Fern Grows. I haven t thought about or even read
this book in a very long time and it is directed more towards a younger audience than adults, so I
hope that it still works for this assignment. The scene from the book that I liked most happened on
one of their hunting trips when they encounter a mountain lion. The

A Career in Computer Aided Drafting Essay
According to Lucy Friend, Computer Aided Drafters make $79,000 a year on average. (n.d.).
Computer Aided Drafting unlocks the door to numerous opportunities for employment; I selected
Computer Aided Drafting because it s so extraordinary with AutoCAD, because of the uses of
Computer Aided Drafting, History of CAD, education requirements, and immeasurable career
opportunities that are obtainable. First off, CAD is computer technology that has contributed in
design and drafting of a portion or an artifact and frequently a complete structure as well.
Computer aided drafting software is identified as CAD. It is fascinating and intriguing software
because we can assemble a 3 D detailed view and that is very challenging to envision without...

The prehistoric technique of undertaking drafting application was on paper with a pencil and it
required an extensive amount of time. They used a drafting table with rulers and templates to
draw the most detailed view they could. Technology in Computer Aided Design applications has
transformed and evolved to have numerous applications. For example; my dad used CAD in
construction and remodeling. Remodeling kitchens and bathrooms with CAD was an enormous
necessity because the customer received an enhanced 3 D detailed view. They also use CAD for
architectural structures, roads, aircraft, ships, cars, digital cameras, TVs, aerospace, clothes, custom
choppers, mobile phones, and even for landscaping. While history of CAD starts out with a
mathematician called Euclid from Alexandria in 350 B.C. CAD groundwork is established on
geometry with postulates and axioms. Drafting took abundant of hours to draw and if we made a
miscalculation we would have to start all over. Next Sketchpad was invented in the 1960s by Ivan
Sutherland. Sketchpad was predominantly ground breaking CAD software because the architect
interacted with the computer graphically by manipulating a light pen to sketch on the computers
screen. New CAD technology called Sketchpad did procedures that can be accomplished in less
than millionth of a second instead of hours. No fundamental CAD software integrated such
straightforwardness into its user interface. Sketchpad was the preliminary CAD

How To Write A Reflective Account Of An Unforgettable...
This nine weeks practicum is an unforgettable experience for me. I have been to the pediatric
ward 4B, surgical ward S2B and medical ward E7. Three different ward have provided an
opportunity for me to learn different skills, to practice the skills that I have learnt at school and
gain different experiences.
Firstly, the first three weeks in 4B I was unable to perform any treatment expect baby bath and
taking the vital signs. In the beginning I found that it is quite difficult to take the vital signs of the
children especially the apical rate and respiration rate because they always scar of nurse, they
usually cry and shout which would disturb you to listen the apical rate and it is quite difficult to
listen to the apical rate. I have learnt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, I have learnt about the items in the per op check list, how the nurse do the checklist with the
patient. Additionally, I have known more about the post operation care for the patient with different
surgeries.
Furthermore, during the last three weeks of the practicum in E7 I have gain experience to observe
some procedures that are not usually done in the ward like removal of chest drainage and got
chance to learn how to interview the patient during admission although most of the patients are
admitted for the oesophagogastroduodenoscopy and colonscopy.
I think the interview during admission is quite difficult because it is an important method to
understand more about the patient discomfort and their background for example medical history,
surgical history, allergic, body condition. Moreover, as some of the patient might not tell the true
information as they might be nervous when admit to the hospital. The most difficult thing during
the nursing interview during admission is spelling the surgical the name and some of the terms for
the medical history. Therefore, it is important for me to improve the spelling of the medical and
surgical terms and study harder to learn more medical and surgical

Use of Epithets In Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey Essay
Use of Epithets In Homer s Iliad and Odyssey
Throughout The Iliad and The Odyssey, Homer s use of the epithet in describing Odysseus
becomes essential as a means of characterizing the hero. Homer uses several epithets, or nicknames,
along with the name Odysseus as the story unfolds in both tales. Three of these include the
descriptive epithet wily Odysseus, the laudative epithet Odysseus, the great tactician, and the
patronymic epithet Odysseus Laertiades. Besides their obvious descriptive qualities, each of these
epithets function to amplify, enhance, or characterize the hero.
Although the epithet wily Odysseus serves a descriptive purpose, it also serves other purposes as
well. Actually, this epithet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Penelope is sent away by Telemachus, Athena suddenly appears amidst a bright light before
him and Odysseus. The young, brash Telemachus nearly cried out, giving her presence away to
others in the house of Odysseus, but Odysseus stopped him, saying, Be still: keep still about it: just
remember it. The gods who rule Olympus make this light (Odyssey 354). Here, Odysseus quick, yet
tactful reply to Telemachus perhaps saved the day, and Telemachus, because he didn t feel ashamed
at his father s response to his foolishness, maintained his bravery and focused upon the task at hand.
Indeed, while the first two examples of epithets seem similar in their descriptive purposes, the
last epithet, Odysseus Laertiades, is different in that it is a patronymic epithet. In other words,
Laertiades indicates the identity of Odysseus father, Laertes. This epithet seems to be used most
when Odysseus is addressed formally by another character. One reason for this use might be to
qualify Odysseus for respect; although Odysseus is a king himself, he is also the son of another
king, Laertes. His pedigree demanded respect, and when he is addressed by this name, it is usually
when being approached by others of similar rank and/or status. One such instance occurred in The
Iliad when Odysseus and Ajax were sent to persuade Achilles to join the war. After Odysseus
voiced the Achaeans wishes, Achilles, who was of an

A lot of hospitals would be against it. Due to the fact that they rely on those patients and the
income they receive from them. Some people argue that if physician assisted suicides were
legalized that a lot of people would be tempted and would most like to take that option. As a sort
of easy way out of their situation. This in turn would decrease the hospitals income, their
equipment and possibly diminish their staff. Once all that has happened the quality of healthcare
will lower as well. Due to outdated equipment and medicine, not enough staff to cover everybody.
Also hospital would start to greatly rely on more government funds, fundraisers and would more
than likely have to increase the prices for treatments. Which as of today, many people can barely
afford without insurance. Physicians could suffer as well through pay cuts. Also after helping a
patient with a suicide the physician could start to feel great amounts of guilt. Which would affect
his work and family life. The patients family as well might start giving the physician grief and
trouble. Just for doing his or her job.
Literature Review
In order to euthanize a patient, Dr. Kevorkian had to brainstorm, and create an easy, painless, and
peaceful way to carry out this process. As the book Between the Dying and the Dead (2006) states,
In 1989, Dr. Kevorkian invented the Thanatron, which translates from Greek to English as the Death

Analysis Of Twelve Angry Men By Reginald Rose
The statement Drama reflects real life on a stage is shown through the powerful dramatic play
by Reginald Rose, Twelve Angry Men . Reginald rose through the effective use of
characterisation, conflict and tension, symbolism, language and setting, Rose dramatically
reflects human experiences with Twelve Angry Men . It is a play that directly appeals to our
sense of justice and equality and questions audiences to contemplate the arguments on a fair trial
in a judicial process when reasonable doubt is also taken into consideration. Reginald Rose also
reflects human nature and experiences by taking into account the emphasis on each individual s
civic duty and responsibility to maintain fairness through the eyes of the law and shows how
easily unbiased truth can be blinded by personal prejudice when conflict and tension are
involved. The play by Reginald Rose, Twelve Angry Men is a powerful, moving play with a
perspective made up of a variety of point of views from different Jurors who have distinct and
contrasting backgrounds, social economic states, ethics and personalities. Rose enforces and
emphasises dramatic conflict and action with the use of techniques such as pathetic fallacy and
claustrophobia in the setting to enforce and set the build up of tension in the room. Characterisation
shows the contrasting personalities of different Jurors and shows how personal prejudice can have
a big impact in a judicial process. The 8th Juror shows how characterisation is used

Organization s Model Of Health Care Performance, Quality...
The purpose of this paper is to discuss my organization s model of health care performance, quality
assessment, and management. Improving the quality of health care in the United States is
necessary (Sherwood Zomorodi, 2014). According to Huber (2014), based on measurable criteria,
health care quality is knowing whether care resulted in expected clinic outcomes. Health care
quality and safety are part of Saint Mary s Medical Center s mission, vision and culture. For
instance, the organization s vision statement includes delivering high quality health care services in
compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and standards, which calls for system wide quality
improvement (SMMC, 2016). Furthermore, the organization stresses that all employees are
responsible for identifying opportunities for improvement (SMMC, 2015). Moreover, it is
important to note, nurses are bound by their Code of Ethics to protect the health and safety of
patients (Huber, 2014). Organizational Quality Program, Goals, and Structure Saint Mary s Medical
Center s quality goals include patient centered care that improves patient outcomes, patient safety,
and reduces health care cost (SMMC, 2015). The organization s mission, vision, and quality
improvement goals ensure accountability of all employees, for examples reducing falls, pressure
ulcers, and central line associated bloodstream infections (SMMC, 2015). The organization not only
focuses on accreditation and regulatory compliance

As consultants for Golden Eagle Inc., we have been given a mission to identify the marketing
issues of Sbarro, a private chain of pizzeria that specializes in their well known product of New
York style pizza slices and other Italian American cuisine meals. We chose Sbarro as our project
because people appreciate and love pizza. Nevertheless, we noticed that this brand is dying not
only in our research on the California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA) campus but also at
another Sbarro location at a mall. As a result, according to our research, we believe that Sbarro is
dying within the west coast, specifically the Los Angeles area. We say this because Sbarro was
first founded in the east coast of Brooklyn, New York by these two Italian couple that immigrated
to America from Naples, Italy. In any case, we identified the marketing issues of Sbarro through the
marketing mix that consists of price, place, product, and promotion. Our mission is to reinvent the
Sbarro brand, which will potentially regain customer loyalty and bring annual profits back to the

well on pricing. The Blaze Pizza customer, on average is spending $5 $10 per visit (business
insider). Analyzing appendix D and E we can conclude that most of their customers have a low
income and can t afford to spend more than $9 at most. The prices for combos and different
combinations vary, making it difficult for the customer to decide what they want to buy. If one
combination increases the final total by three dollars the customer will more like opt out of the

Archetypes In Hamlet
Archetypes are a constant throughout the classic of literature, an invaluable tool for the character
s thought process and how they ll react to everything. Even the infamous playwright and poet,
William Shakespeare, uses it to enhances his stories. For instance, in Shakespeare s Hamlet, the
play is known for its archetype. For instance, Laertes is often considered as the doppelganger
archetype of Hamlet. Often, he s believed to be the only one that s able to fill in the position of
equal standing with Hamlet. However, although many people would ve come to the assumption
that Laertes is Hamlet s doppelganger, because of his desires for vengeance against the people who
ve wronged him and how his personality contrasts Hamlet s character, Ophelia is the true foil of not
only Hamlet, but Laertes as well.
However, to understand archetypes, it s a must to start with a little review on psychoanalysis,
especially its evolution. From the beginning of archetypes, it began with Carl Jung, in the late
nineteenth to the mid twentieth century, being considered the successor of psychoanalysis. Similar
to Sigmund Freud, Jung was fascinated by the human being s psyche and its evolution over time.
He believed a person s past, aspirations, and experiences shape their characters who d they become
in the future. However, while both psychologists studies revolved around a person s psyche and
their mental wellbeing, Jung primarily focused on the attributes that contributed to the psyche s

Closing The Achievement Gap
Critical Issue 16 is, will school improvement efforts alone narrow the racial/ethnic achievement
gap. Katie Haycock believes in adequate funding and that high standards will improve academic
achievement (Paciorek). She thinks the only way to really close the gap is to fix the
underperforming schools. Richard Rothstein believes the achievement gap will be narrowed when
the outside groups collaborate, not just those functioning within the school. He wants to bring
more people to the table to improve academic achievement (Paciorek). I found an article called
Closing the Achievement Gap by Tashlai McKinstry. In her article she states there is an increase in

One of the points that is stated in our book is, student expectations must be raised. When a student
is fighting one of those barriers that McKinstry stated, it will be more difficult on those students to
raise their expectations if they do not have a good support system. McKinstry states that educators
often lack specialized skills to address severe behavior and learning challenges and that the time to
handle those issues doesn t exist; which will result in the students having little to no help. I
personally agree with Richard Rothstein, the achievement gap cannot be closed without the
collaboration of outside groups. Teachers cannot close the achievement gap on their own, if they
could then I think the achievement gap would be closed by now. So, being that the achievement
gap is not closed, it shows that teachers being high quality educators is not the

Physics of Ice Skating
Many everyday activities, and sports involve physics. During the Olympics, you saw the graceful
performance done by the figure skaters. Figure skating involves a lot of physics. These principles
include friction, momentum, and Newton s Third Law. These core principles plays a big impact on
the performance of figure skaters. Before understanding the physics of the ice skater s motion, the
first thing to comprehend is the skates itself.
The major parts of figure skates are the boot itself, and the blade. A figure skater performs a spin
by rotating the blade backwards as the skater spins on a fixed point. This fixed point, is also
known as the balls of their feet. The skater also has the toe pick, a rigid part of the blade located
at the front of the blade, touching the ice. This allows the skater to put a forward pressure down
without sliding forward and falling backwards. It also helps keep the skater s balance. When the
skater performs a jump, he or she pushes off the toe pick, jumps, lands on the toe pick, and then
rocks down to the blade. This also adds stability. The design of the blade allows the skater to rock
down to the blade from the toe pick due to the curvature of the blade. This is called the rocker. The
skater imparts the momentum from its opposite leg, back into his lower foot and then continues to
move. This leads to the movement of the figure skater and the laws and principles of physics used
to perform them.
Figure skating involves ice, which means there

The success of Camp Bow Wow first and foremost provided a much needed service for pet

business that I am quite familiar with is Barro s Pizzeria. While they do have three locations in

It is that time of the year again, prom season. Teenagers, mostly girls, prepare for weeks prior to

Put differently, Churchill tried diplomacy first with France and then indirectly through the U.S.
Both strategies serve as indications of Churchill s push to get the result he wanted. Nevertheless, the
lack of success with diplomatic efforts did not deter Churchill. It only drove him to devise a more
forceful, violent tactic: Operation Catapult. The conditions of Operation Catapult demonstrate that
Churchill carried out the attack at Mers el KГ©bir because he assumed Germanyhad plans to take
the French Fleet. All of the options included in the ultimatum that Britain gave France, including
the threat to use force, centered on keeping the French Fleet away from Germany. To demonstrate,
one of the conditions demanded that France permit the fleet

History of The Super Bowl Essay
The impact of the Super bowl has been a phenomenon. In fact, since January 1967 it has become
part of the American culture, which illustrates that it has become the single most important event in
the sporting world currently (Johnson, Savidge, pp. 83). The Super bowl had quite humble
origins, which is why it is shocking to understand as to why this game became vastly popular and
remains that way. In fact, one would notice that it is a county fair, a weeklong convention along
with an unofficial national holiday with the right game for the television. Therefore, the name of
the game is no exaggeration. One can also notice the economic trends and success of the Super
Bowl. The economic footprints of this particular game are actually more... Show more content on

Therefore, before addressing the history of the Super Bowl and the reasons for it becoming such a
mega scale event, it is important to discuss the National Football League.
Importance of Football
These are the not so obvious reasons that make Super Bowl such a popular game, and such an
important cultural event. According to McBride (1995), football is able to show violence, blood,
groans and grunts in the right way, since there is no actual death. Therefore, war and commerce
both find their rationalized version through the ritualistic performance of Football, more
specifically Super Bowl in this context. It affirms to the identity of American men that they are
real men, who are able to enjoy power and violence and they are not weak. The symbolization of
the phallic aggression of war and destruction becomes possible through football (Langman, pp. 75).
History about National Football League
Without any doubts, the National Football League is considered to be the most popular sports
league within the United States. It has a huge amount of prominence on the global sporting
landscape. NFL has been able to build Super Bowl into this dynamic event that we see today
(Coombs, pp. 93). The League was formed in 1920 and it was only after WWII that it was able to
gradually gain the kind of prominence that it has today. It had to

The Conflict Between White People And Black People
The bloodiest Civil War war in the United States history was not cure of everything. After the war,
social problems existed for long years. White people and black people kept fighting. Racism was a
very big problem. White people killed lots of black people for no reason. Even after KKK, white
people kept causing problems and killing black people. One of the examples is the Elaine Race
Riot. This bloody riot started in September 30, 1919 in Phillips County s Elaine Town in Arkansas.
In this essay, I am going to write about this riot and its details.
The Elaine Riot was one of the biggest conflict between white people and black people in the
United States history. A shooting incident started the riot. It happened at a meeting of the
Progressive Farmers and Household Union of America and it led white people to start a riot

Analyzes Of The Present State
2. Analyzes of the present state
2.1 Actual business model employed
The current business model in most stores is similar. Stores rely on low prices, high quality
products, efficient service at the checkout. They put more and more on branded products,
improved in terms of quality, which translates into prices. Proof of this are the ads that not only
underline the already low prices but high quality. Discrepancies in the accounts for purchases
starting to show between networks when the cart will go in addition to products purchased almost
every day, including those purchased less frequently. The different types of shops compete with
each other mainly in articles necessities, those most often bought by the largest number of
customers. There is no longer any difference where you go for bread, butter and milk, because they
pay more or less the same.
For example Auchan, its purpose is to create and maintain the lowest offer tailored to each client,
offering top quality goods at the lowest possible prices. The values on which this store achieves its

Beowulf, An Anglo Saxon Epic Poem
Beowulf, an Anglo Saxon epic poem, contains several rhetorical strategies. The poem follows the
life of a noble warrior named Beowulf while he quests to live up to his father s name. In the
poem, Beowulf overcame many obstacles primarily those of which involved battling supernatural
creatures. Epic poems were generally written during the Anglo Saxon era. They are commonly
written in an elevated style in order to glorify the deeds of a legendary hero or god. Literary works
during the Anglo Saxon era usually focussed around a quintessential war hero of strength and noble
standing while often times referring to the Bible and Christianity. These traits of Anglo Saxon
writing can undoubtedly be found within Beowulf. Throughout the poem, the author expresses epic
poem traits through the use of rhetorical strategies. The author used literary devices such as
imagery, allusion, metaphors, and tone to express the epic traits of a legendary hero with
significance, a vast setting, and supernatural beings.
Beowulf, the fearless warrior of Geatland, established his role in the novel as the stereotypical
Anglo Saxon main character. Throughout the poem, Beowulf was unconditionally praised by the
people for his valor and strength. He commonly boasted about his fearless characteristics, When it
comes to fighting, I count myself as dangerous any day as Grendel. So it won t be a cutting edge I
ll wield to mow him down, easily as I might, (677 680). In this quote, the author uses the

Aqua Fish Canada Inc. (AFC) Additional Information
May 2007 to April 2009 Update Over the past two years, AFC has faced more intense competition,
particularly from aquaculturists in Chile. In addition, Chilean output has increased the supply of
salmon and the Canadian dollar has strengthened in relation to the U.S. dollar. As a result, AFC has
been unable to meet its budgeted revenue targets. Stocks of unsold harvestable fish have increased,
as well as the corresponding cost of maintaining the fish, and the company barely made a profit in
fiscal 2009. In January 2009, AFC lost one of its largest retail customers, S F Seafood, to a new

Guy Mills provided the board with a summary of selected site and segment data (see Appendix
1), and reported that the decreased profits in 2009 were caused by the Site 3 problems, the
decrease in market value, the strengthening Canadian dollar versus the U.S. dollar, and the
increased feed costs. He also indicated that he expected the four sites to yield an average of 3.8
million kilograms (950,000 kilograms per site) of harvested fish per year, assuming that no further
unusual losses were incurred. Given the current market conditions and the risk of having to
decrease prices or lose export sales to the U.S., the board decided that the company should move
into other markets and diversify into shellfish farming. No dividends would be paid for the next
year or two to free up some cash to invest in new projects. The board directed Mills to investigate
establishing shellfish aquaculture sites and develop a business strategy for increasing the
profitability of the current salmon operations. They indicated that any proposed investment should
generate a minimum after tax return of 10% within five years. Shellfish Aquaculture Opportunity
Mills explored opportunities for diversifying into shellfish aquaculture. He found two potential
opportunities (a mussel farm and an oyster farm) and wondered which one should be pursued or
whether both should be pursued. A summary of the costs and yields for establishing these farms is

The Most Valuable Characteristics Of Leadership
Time is running out. Pressure is accumulating. There are decisions to be made and actions to be
taken, but this time Superman is not around to save the day. Who will step in? Only a true
leader can leap into hectic situations and handle the pressure with equanimity. We don t look to
mediocre talent to solve problems, but rather we gaze upon the godly characteristics that a leader
possesses. Finding a leader is not like playing a game of Where s Waldo? , but rather it s more
like watching a blazing firework illuminate the dark sky. The characteristics that make someone
stand out from the rest are represented in something I like to call the three C s to succeed. The
most valuable characteristics of leadershipare confidence, creativity, and commitment. A leader
that possesses those characteristics is as invincible as Hercules. To begin, it is crucial for a leader
to have confidence. Trying to be a leader without first building confidence is like constructing a
house on a foundation of sand, its unreliable and shaky. Leadership is about having unbreakable
confidence to make tough decisions when no one else will. There isn t a manual that tells you how
to become self confident, but it all begins with knowing who you are and realizing that while
success is the main goal learning from your failures is the most important adjustment. Confidence is
developed by trusting yourself to make the best informed decision that will satisfy the needs of
many. Trusting yourself is the direct

Essay Nonverbal Communication of the Breakfast Club
Shane Seemann
The Nonverbal Club
The Breakfast Club is such an interesting movie to use with this topic. The wide range of
characters allows for a variety of different interactions. The way we are going to approach this, is to
look at each character and examine the different interactions between.
Let us first start off with some good examples of Physical Appearances and Artifacts, or the
personal objects we use to announce our identities, interests and backgrounds. Our appearance
includes everything from our body type to our hair style to our skin color to eye color to height.

The fact that he took drugs and a knife to school tells us that he doesn t care about his education
or feel that it is worth his time. Although, Bender giving his sunglasses to Brian really warmed
my heart. It showed that Bender had kind of taken a liking to Brian. Who probably took a lot of
confidence from it as demonstrated by the relaxed and confident demeanor he had after he put
them on. Brian thought that if he could wear glasses like Bender did, that he would become a little
more like him. One last thing about Artifacts, and I hate writing about the end of the movie in the
middle of a paper, but when Allison takes a patch off of Andy s letterman jacket, it warmed my
heart a little. Her taking the patch, meaning that by taking this artifact from him, no matter the
social restrictions, they would always have the bond they created that day.
Now let us discuss Proxemics. Proxemics, or the way we use space to communicate (Orbe amp;
Bruess, 2005) is shown right away in the film, when Andy sits down next to Claire and away
from the other students. Obviously they are more comfortable sitting next to each other because
they are closer in the social pyramid. About a half an hour into the movie, after the scene where
the group starts whistling, it shows another good example of Proxemics. All of the characters are
bundled up in the front area of the class, all except Allison. She is still sitting in the back of the
room. This speaks to her resistance to

Reasons For The Cuban Missile Crisis
During 1962, the United States and the Soviet Union were in conflict due to the Soviet Union
placing missiles in Cuba, known today as the Cuban missile crisis. In attempt to avoid nuclear
conflict and force the removal of the missiles, Kennedy was faced with three options; to bomb the
missile sites and/or conduct both sea and airborne landings, or blockade the island and reassure
the removal of the missiles. Kennedy decided to blockade Cuba as it was the only option that
would result in the removal of the missiles without it escalating to war. The Cuban missile crisiswas

Kennedy had three options: To bomb the missile sites, to bomb the sites and conduct both sea
and airborne landings, or to blockade Cuba and to confirm the transfer of the missiles from the
island. At first, Kennedy was enraged and wanted to attack the missile sites, but the issue was
whether to let Khrushchev and Castro know his plan. If he had let them know, the Soviet Union
could have responded earlier by striking against Berlin or their bases in Turkey. However, if it
would be a surprise attack many people would be killed, equalling to further conflict. Kennedy
reasoned it would not be a good idea due to the fact it was impulsive and the consequences would
be drastic. The Joints Chiefs of Staff added that a surprise air strike would lead to an
invasion.Although the air strike proposal was done for, the Joints Chief of Staff argued against
the blockade debating that it would be inefficient and useless. Not only did they mention that the
blockade would not remove the missiles for the simple fact that they were already there, but they
also pointed out that doing so would cause the Soviet Union to do it also. Forcing the removal of
the missiles would mean the United States would have to remove their missiles surrounding the
Soviet Union too, or so they thought. Although a blockade had its cons, it was the safer way to go
and would cause less extreme consequences according to Secretary McNamara and Robert F.
Kennedy. These three proposals all had their cons; Some more than others, but Kennedy managed to

Moreover, the natives give food to the other animals in the ecosystem, including birds, tortoises,

of their resources. The Mojave desert tortoises are affected by the reason of they are herbivores, an
animal that consumes only plants, and so they need the natives to survive. Consequently, this sets
off a chain reaction in the web, and it affects everything in that ecosystem. The chain reaction is set
off because what affects one plant or animal affects everything else. Moreover, the Saharan
Mustard is a rapid seed dispenser, and it does not help that the ants that live in the Mojave desert
love the seeds. Consequently, this is more problematic to get rid of the invader.

The Accounting Of Territorial Formation
The accountant of the conquest, and the making of what is today Latin America is a debatable
subject in the field of humanities, especially in the field history. The most widespread approaches
of this history are that of violence, war, oppression, possession of territories, and foundation of new
colonies. In Frontier of Possessions, Tamar Herzog, a historian, professor of Latin American
presents an account of the conquest from a different perspective, one that proposes that the
acquisition of the territory of the New World by Spainand Portugalwas a result of interactions of
many actors that caused territorial division in both Iberia and the Americas(Herzog, 6). Hence, I

Under those premises, Herzog steps away from comparative history. And focus at history that look
at the information, in a thematically agreement with specific actors, and arguments, rather that in
sequence, and progression in particular place. From the above mentioned, when analyzing the
territorial division in the Americas is necessary to ponder why the treaties failed? Was not the
Tordecillas treaty, which gave the right to conquest and posses the New World, enough? This
question is very important, and Herzog explores it: the treaty of Tordecillas did not specify a
geographical division; European couldn t agree, and trust their science or modernization. This
contradictory approach is important in the narrative of Frontiers of Possessions; Herzog presents an
opposed view to narrative about the modernity of the Europeans conquerors. It is ironic to think
about modernization, conquest, and possessions of lands when European couldn t trust their own
modernity, and yet used it as a justifiable reason to posses. This comes to show that these groups of
people were common people that possibly did not understood or even care about modernity, but
rather possession through different means. As an illustration, Herzog points out that Spaniard and
Portuguese did not bother about linear or zonal classification of the land.

The State Of New Mexico Essay
The state of New Mexico defines murder in the first degree as the killing of one person by
another without a lawful justification or excuse. Any action resulting in death, which can be
proven to have been willful, deliberate and premeditated; committed during the commission or
attempt to commit a felony; or by an act so dangerous to the lives of others that it indicates a
depraved mind and disregard for human life, is a capital felony (NM Stat В§ 30 2 1). Currently,
capital felonies are subject to a sentence of life imprisonment, or a true life imprisonment
sentence which provides no option for release or parole (NM Stat В§ 31 18 14). However, from
1979 to 2009, New Mexico carried a harsher set of punishments for first degree murder; life in
prison with the possibility of parole, or the death penalty.
Terry Clark was the only prisoner on death row to be executed before the penalty repeal in 2009.
In 1987, a jury found Clark guilty after hearing gruesome testimony that he abducted, raped, and
shot his young victim three times in the head before he buried her body in a shallow grave on his
brother s ranch. Unsurprisingly, Clark filed an appeal with the New Mexico Supreme Court after
the lower court s ruling and sentencing. In State v. Clark, 772 P.2d 322 (1989), the court carefully
considered Clarks many claims of trial misconduct.
Clark originally entered a guilty plea after his defense counsel informed him that his death sentence

Electoral College Flaws
Do you feel the Electoral system best represents everyone in the US? The United States have
using the Electoral College for over 220 years! There have definitely been changes since the first
president. The Electoral have many flaws and i m here to inform you about the flaws about the
way we elect our president. I am going to tell you my two biggest flaws that need to be changed.
The Electoral Collegedoes not represent the people in the best possible way, considering the state
s vote represents the majority of the state, not the individual people, which is ideal. The second
reason why the Electoral College does not best represent the people is because the smaller
populated states don t have an even say compared to the larger states.
The Electoral College represent the people because the states vote represents the majority of the
state, but not all of the people. In CT, 54% voted for Hillary and 41% voted for Trump. CT final
vote was Hillary so those 668,000/41% of the people don t get represented at all. ( 2016 Election ).
For those people, their vote does not mean anything to the outcome of the president. That means
that this year, 41% of CT s votes did not go toward voting for the new president. Hillary Clinton has

Although most people s vote count toward the state s votes same do not. I think it s a big problem

The Tragedy Of World War II By Siegfried Sassoon
throughout History, a major tragedy caused the world to become chaotic, which lead to millions
of brave individuals to lose their life. This horrific tragedy, World War 1 (the Great War), was
the beginning of a long terrible journey. Many strong and mighty men volunteered to join the
War with the persuasion of being Hero s . These men did not realize the terror they would face
when walking into this journey. Many soldiers were faced with seeing their fellow soldiers cold
blood drip from their aching bodies, their loving eyes becoming raged with anger by the
conditions of their sleeping arrangements, and their hopes of ever returning home or being a
normal human being was wiped clean. This was the beginning of a major change in the lives of
all individuals throughout the world. Before the War, many soldierss mindsets was that this war
would turn them into hero s and men . A poet, Siegfried Sassoon, wrote the famous poem They ,
explained, The Bishop (authority) tells us: when the boys come back/ they will not be the same

they will come out a better individual, and everyone will look up to them. Many of these fellow
soldiers entered the war singing, but suddenly realized the words given by an authority figure was
all wrong, which led them to trust no one. So, before the war men were chosen to fight and given

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
In today s society, it is possible for a woman to achieve nearly anything; however, for a woman of
yesterday s society, bringing world wide recognition to the many faces of prejudice is an
accomplishment of its own. Author Harper Lee has had the honor to accomplish just that through
her novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, a moving and inspirational story about a young girl learning the
difference between the good and the bad of the world. In the small town of Monroeville,
Alabama, Nelle Harper Lee was born on April 28, 1926. Growing up, Harper Lee had three
siblings: two sisters and an older brother. She and her siblings grew up modestly. Even though
money was not as much of a problem for her family as it was for others of their time, her father
never did spoil her and her siblings. Lee and her brother attended a public grammar school in
Monroe County, and Harper Lee continued to further her education after her high school
graduation. She attended Huntingdon College for a year and then transferred to the University of
Alabama at Tuscaloosa where she studied law from 1945 to 1949. While she was at the University
of Alabama, she was also an exchange student at Oxford University in England for a year.
Harper Lee always had a passion for writing. She wrote articles and satires for her college
newspaper. Months before completing her law degree, Lee moved to New York to pursue a
writing career. Her first job was as an airlines reservations clerk. Although she never stopped writing

The Benefits Of Capital Gains And The Values Of Money
Capital gains are effectively just money earned for having money in the first place and investing
it wisely. Capital gains are realized once an investor sells their stocks in a publicly traded
company, and are the way in which thousands of wealthy Americans become even richer. The term
capital gains also applies to money received from index funds, which are a type of mutual fund
with a portfolio constructed to match or track the components of a market index (CITE). This
means that by depositing money into an index fund, that money is invested in a wide variety high
performing companies. Then, when that money is withdrawn, the owner receives capital gains, just
like an individual investor would. Many upper middle class and wealthy... Show more content on

This is a glaring flaw and one that blatantly allows the wealthy to become wealthier, with no
checks on that wealth. Unfortunately, this policy does not just aid the wealthy, but it hurts the
poor and middle class that use public goods that are funded by taxes. Demonstrating this, the
Congressional Budget Office (CBO), predicts that Normalizing the capital gains tax rate so that
it s the same as the income tax rate is an easy way to bring a lot of money into the public fisc
some $161 billion per year (CITE). For comparison, the poorest 50% of Americans paid a total of
$34 billion in taxes in 2013. Taxing capital gains as if it were normal income would remove the
tool that the rich and powerful use to become even more rich and powerful, as well as inject
billions of into public projects. Therefore, it would go far in solving the issue of wealth inequality
that we face today. Fortunately, this issue is very simple to solve. All that is required is for the
federal government to treat capital gains as normal income. Subsequently, public projects and
systems that are currently suffering with little money, would receive an incredible boost. However,
there is still opposition to these ideas among wealthy Americans, Congressmen, and voters. Several
arguments are used in opposition to some of the policies that have been suggested in this paper, and
in the next few paragraphs, I will refute the common opponents. The first of these opposing

The next shot records the facial expression of the local sheik, who steals the pocket watch from the
old man, with a medium close up from a slightly low angle. Then, the camera pans to the right a
little bit when the villain walks to the back of the seated Sherlock, peeking the detective book.
Apparently, the sheik worries that the young man book might discover his evil deed with the
aid of the book. Following the sight of the man, the eye line match offers a close up of the book
that reveals the steps of being a detective to Sherlock. The next shot even further closes up with
extra attention to the first step: [r]ule 1: [s]earch [e]verybody (Keaton, Sherlock Jr.). In the eighth
shot, the camera refocuses on the two men with a medium shot, disclosing the secret movement
of the villain, and Sherlock is still reading his tutorial book on the sofa. The camera slightly pans
to the left as the villain walking to the curtain. In this ninth shot, a medium shot with a straight
angle shows the viewers an overall circumstance in the room. At two side of the curtain, four
members of the family are arguing on one side; the villain keeps his eyes on them silently, and
Sherlock still watches his book. The tenth shot immediately returns to the face of the villain with a

husband taro were put in a camp because of the way she looked and because of the mistakes her

towards Japanese people as to put them in a camp as if they were animals. Hana didn t anticipate
all this when she first moved she expected people that would respect them if they worked and

belived what this country had done to the Japanese Americans since the war was the result of
fear and hatred and greed among bigoted and misguided men. He believed this was not the real

Web 2.0 serves as the foundation of much of the social media and e marketing platforms being
developed today. Originally defined in 2006, the Web 2.0 design objectives have influenced
every social network, application and e marketing application since (Skiera, Eckert, Hinz, 2010).
To see the Web 2.0 Meme map which shows the key design criterion and objectives of this
network, see the Appendix of this analysis. One of the most influential aspects of this Meme

The History and Future of the Internet Essay
The History and Future of the Internet
Many believe the internet was an over night sensation, that one day, someone invented the internet
and it spread in popularity faster than Tickle Me Elmo or the Macarena. Although the internet did
have a surge of commercial popularity, with the invention of Mosaic and later with e commerce, it
was created many years ago with the development of military networking technologies. Also, the
internet, unlike many pop culture fads of the nineties, will continue to see a growth in popularity
and usefulness as a form of media throughout the information age. Sure, the internet became
overambitious to the point where many internet start up companies lost their businesses in the
recession of the past few ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mosaic, created by Marc Andreessen, is described as the killer application for the internet. Because
it was the first program to provide a slick multimedia graphical user interface, people had a reason
to logon and download their free version of this monumental application. Mosaic soon turned into
Netscape Navigator and the rest is history (dictionary.com).
Through the internet was original used to support the development of the military many years ago,
it became a commercial commodity in the nineties and into the new millennium. The internet grew
and grew as an explosion of people logging on and creating their own personal website. Companies
could advertise their products, people could freely send emails; there was no limit or bounds to its
never ending content. Competition between internet providers increased the speed of the internet
from dial up to DSL/Cable to Ethernet. However, despite an enormous increase in availability and
internet traffic in the early years of the new millennium, a decrease in consumer confidence saw to
the death of many start up companies. It was hard to keep up with the expansion of the internet
during its turbulent growth in the late nineties. Many companies that started a retail or service
business made a lot of money in a short amount of time and then lost it all. This volatile market saw
the quick decline in the consumers loyalty in internet

  • 3. Criminal Justice Policy Analysis The assumption one may hold regarding policy making in criminal justice is that individuals are well informed about conviction rates as well as arrests, which influences changes in the criminal justice system. However, such assumption raises doubts on the severity of punishment. Further, perceived probability of arrest is related to subsequent criminal behavior. Such an argument is based on the belief that people with lower perceived probabilities of arrest are more likely to get involved in crimeduring subsequent periods. This assignment has been a little difficult for me because I can t decide on a book, however one book keeps popping into my mind so I think that is the one I will share. It is called Where The Red Fern Grows. I haven t thought about or even read this book in a very long time and it is directed more towards a younger audience than adults, so I hope that it still works for this assignment. • 6. A Career in Computer Aided Drafting Essay According to Lucy Friend, Computer Aided Drafters make $79,000 a year on average. (n.d.). Computer Aided Drafting unlocks the door to numerous opportunities for employment; I selected Computer Aided Drafting because it s so extraordinary with AutoCAD, because of the uses of Computer Aided Drafting, History of CAD, education requirements, and immeasurable career opportunities that are obtainable. First off, CAD is computer technology that has contributed in design and drafting of a portion or an artifact and frequently a complete structure as well. Computer aided drafting software is identified as CAD. It is fascinating and intriguing software because we can assemble a 3 D detailed view and that is very challenging to envision without... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The prehistoric technique of undertaking drafting application was on paper with a pencil and it required an extensive amount of time. They used a drafting table with rulers and templates to draw the most detailed view they could. Technology in Computer Aided Design applications has transformed and evolved to have numerous applications. For example; my dad used CAD in construction and remodeling. Remodeling kitchens and bathrooms with CAD was an enormous necessity because the customer received an enhanced 3 D detailed view. They also use CAD for architectural structures, roads, aircraft, ships, cars, digital cameras, TVs, aerospace, clothes, custom choppers, mobile phones, and even for landscaping. While history of CAD starts out with a mathematician called Euclid from Alexandria in 350 B.C. CAD groundwork is established on geometry with postulates and axioms. Drafting took abundant of hours to draw and if we made a miscalculation we would have to start all over. Next Sketchpad was invented in the 1960s by Ivan Sutherland. Sketchpad was predominantly ground breaking CAD software because the architect interacted with the computer graphically by manipulating a light pen to sketch on the computers screen. No fundamental CAD software integrated such straightforwardness into its user interface. Sketchpad was the preliminary CAD ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Use of Epithets In Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey Essay Use of Epithets In Homer s Iliad and Odyssey Throughout The Iliad and The Odyssey, Homer s use of the epithet in describing Odysseus becomes essential as a means of characterizing the hero. Homer uses several epithets, or nicknames, along with the name Odysseus as the story unfolds in both tales. Three of these include the descriptive epithet wily Odysseus, the laudative epithet Odysseus, the great tactician, and the patronymic epithet Odysseus Laertiades. Besides their obvious descriptive qualities, each of these epithets function to amplify, enhance, or characterize the hero. Although the epithet wily Odysseus serves a descriptive purpose, it also serves other purposes as well. Actually, this epithet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After Penelope is sent away by Telemachus, Athena suddenly appears amidst a bright light before him and Odysseus. The young, brash Telemachus nearly cried out, giving her presence away to others in the house of Odysseus, but Odysseus stopped him, saying, Be still: keep still about it: just remember it. The gods who rule Olympus make this light (Odyssey 354). Here, Odysseus quick, yet tactful reply to Telemachus perhaps saved the day, and Telemachus, because he didn t feel ashamed at his father s response to his foolishness, maintained his bravery and focused upon the task at hand. Indeed, while the first two examples of epithets seem similar in their descriptive purposes, the last epithet, Odysseus Laertiades, is different in that it is a patronymic epithet. In other words, Laertiades indicates the identity of Odysseus father, Laertes. This epithet seems to be used most when Odysseus is addressed formally by another character. One reason for this use might be to qualify Odysseus for respect; although Odysseus is a king himself, he is also the son of another king, Laertes. His pedigree demanded respect, and when he is addressed by this name, it is usually when being approached by others of similar rank and/or status. One such instance occurred in The Iliad when Odysseus and Ajax were sent to persuade Achilles to join the war. After Odysseus voiced the Achaeans wishes, Achilles, who was of an ... Some people argue that if physician assisted suicides were legalized that a lot of people would be tempted and would most like to take that option. As a sort of easy way out of their situation. This in turn would decrease the hospitals income, their equipment and possibly diminish their staff. Once all that has happened the quality of healthcare will lower as well. Due to outdated equipment and medicine, not enough staff to cover everybody. Also hospital would start to greatly rely on more government funds, fundraisers and would more than likely have to increase the prices for treatments. Which as of today, many people can barely afford without insurance. Physicians could suffer as well through pay cuts. Also after helping a patient with a suicide the physician could start to feel great amounts of guilt. Which would affect his work and family life. The patients family as well might start giving the physician grief and trouble. Just for doing his or her job. Literature Review In order to euthanize a patient, Dr. Kevorkian had to brainstorm, and create an easy, painless, and peaceful way to carry out this process. As the book Between the Dying and the Dead (2006) states, In 1989, Dr. Kevorkian invented the Thanatron, which translates from Greek to English as the Death Machine. In 1953, Kevorkian got his ... Reginald rose through the effective use of characterisation, conflict and tension, symbolism, language and setting, Rose dramatically reflects human experiences with Twelve Angry Men . It is a play that directly appeals to our sense of justice and equality and questions audiences to contemplate the arguments on a fair trial in a judicial process when reasonable doubt is also taken into consideration. Reginald Rose also reflects human nature and experiences by taking into account the emphasis on each individual s civic duty and responsibility to maintain fairness through the eyes of the law and shows how easily unbiased truth can be blinded by personal prejudice when conflict and tension are involved. The play by Reginald Rose, Twelve Angry Men is a powerful, moving play with a perspective made up of a variety of point of views from different Jurors who have distinct and contrasting backgrounds, social economic states, ethics and personalities. Rose enforces and emphasises dramatic conflict and action with the use of techniques such as pathetic fallacy and claustrophobia in the setting to enforce and set the build up of tension in the room. Improving the quality of health care in the United States is necessary (Sherwood Zomorodi, 2014). According to Huber (2014), based on measurable criteria, health care quality is knowing whether care resulted in expected clinic outcomes. Health care quality and safety are part of Saint Mary s Medical Center s mission, vision and culture. For instance, the organization s vision statement includes delivering high quality health care services in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and standards, which calls for system wide quality improvement (SMMC, 2016). Furthermore, the organization stresses that all employees are responsible for identifying opportunities for improvement (SMMC, 2015). Moreover, it is important to note, nurses are bound by their Code of Ethics to protect the health and safety of patients (Huber, 2014). Organizational Quality Program, Goals, and Structure Saint Mary s Medical Center s quality goals include patient centered care that improves patient outcomes, patient safety, and reduces health care cost (SMMC, 2015). Sbarro Essay As consultants for Golden Eagle Inc., we have been given a mission to identify the marketing issues of Sbarro, a private chain of pizzeria that specializes in their well known product of New York style pizza slices and other Italian American cuisine meals. We chose Sbarro as our project because people appreciate and love pizza. Nevertheless, we noticed that this brand is dying not only in our research on the California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA) campus but also at another Sbarro location at a mall. As a result, according to our research, we believe that Sbarro is dying within the west coast, specifically the Los Angeles area. We say this because Sbarro was first founded in the east coast of Brooklyn, New York by these two Italian couple that immigrated to America from Naples, Italy. In any case, we identified the marketing issues of Sbarro through the marketing mix that consists of price, place, product, and promotion. • 13. Archetypes In Hamlet Archetypes are a constant throughout the classic of literature, an invaluable tool for the character s thought process and how they ll react to everything. Even the infamous playwright and poet, William Shakespeare, uses it to enhances his stories. For instance, in Shakespeare s Hamlet, the play is known for its archetype. For instance, Laertes is often considered as the doppelganger archetype of Hamlet. Often, he s believed to be the only one that s able to fill in the position of equal standing with Hamlet. However, although many people would ve come to the assumption that Laertes is Hamlet s doppelganger, because of his desires for vengeance against the people who ve wronged him and how his personality contrasts Hamlet s character, Ophelia is the true foil of not only Hamlet, but Laertes as well. However, to understand archetypes, it s a must to start with a little review on psychoanalysis, especially its evolution. From the beginning of archetypes, it began with Carl Jung, in the late nineteenth to the mid twentieth century, being considered the successor of psychoanalysis. Similar to Sigmund Freud, Jung was fascinated by the human being s psyche and its evolution over time. He believed a person s past, aspirations, and experiences shape their characters who d they become in the future. However, while both psychologists studies revolved around a person s psyche and their mental wellbeing, Jung primarily focused on the attributes that contributed to the psyche s ... • 14. Closing The Achievement Gap Critical Issue 16 is, will school improvement efforts alone narrow the racial/ethnic achievement gap. Katie Haycock believes in adequate funding and that high standards will improve academic achievement (Paciorek). She thinks the only way to really close the gap is to fix the underperforming schools. Richard Rothstein believes the achievement gap will be narrowed when the outside groups collaborate, not just those functioning within the school. He wants to bring more people to the table to improve academic achievement (Paciorek). I found an article called Closing the Achievement Gap by Tashlai McKinstry. One of the points that is stated in our book is, student expectations must be raised. When a student is fighting one of those barriers that McKinstry stated, it will be more difficult on those students to raise their expectations if they do not have a good support system. McKinstry states that educators often lack specialized skills to address severe behavior and learning challenges and that the time to handle those issues doesn t exist; which will result in the students having little to no help. I personally agree with Richard Rothstein, the achievement gap cannot be closed without the collaboration of outside groups. Teachers cannot close the achievement gap on their own, if they could then I think the achievement gap would be closed by now. • 16. Physics of Ice Skating Many everyday activities, and sports involve physics. During the Olympics, you saw the graceful performance done by the figure skaters. Figure skating involves a lot of physics. These principles include friction, momentum, and Newton s Third Law. These core principles plays a big impact on the performance of figure skaters. Before understanding the physics of the ice skater s motion, the first thing to comprehend is the skates itself. The major parts of figure skates are the boot itself, and the blade. A figure skater performs a spin by rotating the blade backwards as the skater spins on a fixed point. This fixed point, is also known as the balls of their feet. The skater also has the toe pick, a rigid part of the blade located at the front of the blade, touching the ice. This allows the skater to put a forward pressure down without sliding forward and falling backwards. It also helps keep the skater s balance. When the skater performs a jump, he or she pushes off the toe pick, jumps, lands on the toe pick, and then rocks down to the blade. This also adds stability. The design of the blade allows the skater to rock down to the blade from the toe pick due to the curvature of the blade. This is called the rocker. The skater imparts the momentum from its opposite leg, back into his lower foot and then continues to move. This leads to the movement of the figure skater and the laws and principles of physics used to perform them. Figure skating involves ice, which means there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Super bowl had quite humble origins, which is why it is shocking to understand as to why this game became vastly popular and remains that way. Therefore, before addressing the history of the Super Bowl and the reasons for it becoming such a mega scale event, it is important to discuss the National Football League. According to McBride (1995), football is able to show violence, blood, groans and grunts in the right way, since there is no actual death. Therefore, war and commerce both find their rationalized version through the ritualistic performance of Football, more specifically Super Bowl in this context. It affirms to the identity of American men that they are real men, who are able to enjoy power and violence and they are not weak. The symbolization of the phallic aggression of war and destruction becomes possible through football (Langman, pp. 75). The poem follows the life of a noble warrior named Beowulf while he quests to live up to his father s name. In the poem, Beowulf overcame many obstacles primarily those of which involved battling supernatural creatures. Epic poems were generally written during the Anglo Saxon era. They are commonly written in an elevated style in order to glorify the deeds of a legendary hero or god. Literary works during the Anglo Saxon era usually focussed around a quintessential war hero of strength and noble standing while often times referring to the Bible and Christianity. If he had let them know, the Soviet Union could have responded earlier by striking against Berlin or their bases in Turkey. However, if it would be a surprise attack many people would be killed, equalling to further conflict. Kennedy reasoned it would not be a good idea due to the fact it was impulsive and the consequences would be drastic. The Joints Chiefs of Staff added that a surprise air strike would lead to an invasion.Although the air strike proposal was done for, the Joints Chief of Staff argued against the blockade debating that it would be inefficient and useless. In Frontier of Possessions, Tamar Herzog, a historian, professor of Latin American presents an account of the conquest from a different perspective, one that proposes that the acquisition of the territory of the New World by Spainand Portugalwas a result of interactions of many actors that caused territorial division in both Iberia and the Americas(Herzog, 6). Was not the Tordecillas treaty, which gave the right to conquest and posses the New World, enough? This question is very important, and Herzog explores it: the treaty of Tordecillas did not specify a geographical division; European couldn t agree, and trust their science or modernization. This contradictory approach is important in the narrative of Frontiers of Possessions; Herzog presents an opposed view to narrative about the modernity of the Europeans conquerors. It is ironic to think about modernization, conquest, and possessions of lands when European couldn t trust their own modernity, and yet used it as a justifiable reason to posses. This comes to show that these groups of people were common people that possibly did not understood or even care about modernity, but rather possession through different means.
