The Stages Of Cognitive Developmental Theory
Piagets stage theory is also known as the cognitive developmental theory. Constructivist perspective.
No matter the name Piaget believed that children benefit most from concrete experiences or hands on
activities that allow the student to manipulate his or her environment in order to build knowledge
based on interactions with the universe.(Mohammad,2012) Piaget believed knowledge is acquired in a
set of stages. There is 4 stages that knowledge is obtained. The first stage Sensorimotor occurs
approximately between the age of two. Children at this stage develop the idea of Object Permanence.
The idea that an object exists even though they can t see it. In this step children also acquire the ability
of reflexes. In stage two Preoperational stage begins. This usually happens between the age of 2 7.
Children of this age bracket are egocentric and are dominated by perception. (ch.2.4) They believe that
the world exists from their view point. They understand concrete present day stuff but no
understanding of abstract. 7 11 yrs enter the Concrete Operational stage. The logical stage. Children
are able to se different viewpoints. There also good at understanding basic math, and classify objects
by more than one characteristic. (a yellow duck can go in yellow category and the duck category.) The
last stage is known as the Formal Operational Stage. When a child is a 11 years or older they are
finally understanding the concept of abstract thinking. Children

British Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution in Great Britain began in eighteenth century due to the economic
differences in many areas, the rise of factories, and the advances in technologies. The Industrial
Revolution created a foundation for the modern world s economy and helped advance the world s
markets and industries. It also affected the social system and improved the people s living standard.
Learning about the Industrial Revolution will help us understand more about the history of our
prosperous economy.
There were many factors that started the British Industrial Revolution such as economic differences in
rural areas and cities, the rise of many factories which fulfilled the needs for workers and increased
jobs, along with the advancement in technologies which created new production methods. In rural
areas, labours were cheap and many workers became unemployed and this increased poverty. In cities,
the economy was different. Many factories were formed which created more jobs causing the people
in rural areas to leave their towns to work in cities. Since the majority of people lived in cities and
worked in factories, it created the industrial system (1). During the Industrial Revolution, men,
women, and even children needed to work in order to survive. They worked in dangerous
environments and were paid with low wages. Children and women were favored to work in coal
mining industry because they were slim. They suffered severe contamination And children were

Marketing Strategies For The Hospitality Industry
The hospitality industry is an industry that heavily relies on the experience economy. It is essential for
hotels and restaurants to gain a competitive advantage through differentiation to create and provide
unique experiences for customers. After all, customers not only pay for products, they also pay for the
services provided, embracing the experience economy. There are seven marketing strategies to achieve
this goal, two of which are Physical Evidence and Process . This paper will be discussing these two
strategies and how the hospitality industry uses them to create memorable experiences.
The first of the two strategies is Physical Evidence . Customers tend to rely on physical cues to assist
in evaluation of a product before buying it. These physical cues are provided by the physical evidence
of the product. In the hotels and restaurants, the physical environment plays a huge role in physical
evidence. The physical environment includes factors such as ambiance and spatial layout.
(Professional Academy) These factors are crucial in evoking emotions in customers. When ambiance
and spacial layout are done right or tailored to suit the theme of the restaurant or hotel, customers
would feel positively about their whole experience.
Ambiance is a critical part of any restaurant or hotel when it comes to selling the whole experience.
Ambiance can be diverse. For example, from a relaxing, soothing environment in a spa to loud music,
a dark room with bright lights in a

Descriptive Essay About Sea Animals
It was dark outside. Clouds loomed over the skies as I walked into the enormous colorful building.
Blazing rays of LED lights shone through the entrance s translucent windows. Brightness and gleams
engulfed my vision like a wildfire. My eyes blink, trying to focus where I was walking. As I paced
myself through the crowded corridors of the large hallway trying to find my group of friends, I could
see murals of sea animals everywhere and signs directing where each exhibit was. Animated and
overjoyed, I pranced to the first exhibit where the baby sand sharks were. They were extraordinary,
swimming around their tank but sadly not able to leave their confined space. Their tank only allowed
them to swim continuously in circles. Although animals in captivity tend to live longer than animals in
the wild, it is depressing to mull over how they were stripped of their freedom. There was nowhere to
escape when housed in such small enclosures.
While exploring the intriguing domain, I stared wide eyed in the dim rooms, my face was illuminated
by the glowing tanks while fish and other marine life gawked at me. It was as if they wanted me to
join them or aid them to escape their aquatic prison. It was depressing to be so close to them, to be
only separated by glass, but unable to save them. Many animals could have been violently captured
from their homes with no hope of ever being reunited with their true families. The stress of hearing to
kids crying, people clapping, loud music,

Benefits of Sweatshops
The Benefit of Sweatshops
Robert Gelber
Integrative Seminar 300
Professor Duclos Alegue
April 28th, 2011
Abstract: Many countries, industries and people are becoming more affected by sweatshops in
different ways because of they re continuous increase in growth. Sweatshops benefit many developing
countries as they provide opportunities of employment to the people living in poverty and benefit the
community at large by creating an economic infrastructure that utilizes the country s resources and
increases their tax base. These institutions first came into existence in the early 1800 s and were
referred to as dwelling houses, which were local factories that generally had the same idea of the
sweatshop that we have in today s society. There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
True womanhood created an ideology that was very beneficial to the textile industry (Hapke, 2001) as
it was based strictly on a profit driven management system, which viewed its workers as factory hands
rather than domestic workers. Lowell Mills was a company that used this ideology to it s full potential.
The making of a product was broken down into specific categories so that each person had a specific
task and repeated that task over and over and over again. Instead of one person making a product from
start to finish, each person was given one task to perform repeatedly. For example one person would
be spinning the yarn while the next worker would be weaving cloths (Hapke, 2001). This would
increase productivity so that products could be manufactured at a more efficient rate that would
generate more profit. Between 1880 1940 tenement houses became the ideal place to produce
garments. The term Sweatshop was beginning to come into existence as the sweating system was
commonly used during this time. In the lower east side of New York, tenement houses reached an
outrageous number of 35,000, which resulted in a million and a half people working in these
establishments (Hapke, 2001). The working conditions in these houses were horrendous as they were
terribly overcrowded to the point where it was uncomfortable and unhealthy to work in the small,
poorly ventilated rooms. The facilities were also

The Indian LPO space was divided into captive centres, third party niche service providers and third
party multiservice providers, with third party service providers dominating the space. The growth
strategy for most service providers was to begin with low value services and gradually move up the
value chain by acquiring and exhibiting domain expertise. The largely untapped LPO sector was in its
nascent stages, providing vast business opportunities in high volume services like document review

Regional competitors like China, Korea etc were increasingly liberalising their legal services sectors.
The Indian government, though concerned by this decision of its regional competitors, had yet to

The Birdcage Essay
In analyzing the style of Emmanuel Lubezki I found that his techniques adapts to the style/needs of
the director and the movie he works on. In the movie The Birdcage, he uses a long lens glamour style
whereas, in Children of Men he takes on his famous natural lighting style with a handheld camera.
What s unique about these two styles is that he manages to show that the subjects/actors are the main
focus and they standout and look amazing whether natural or artificial, he produces natural looking
shots. Lubezki also uses techniques in camera to create the best shoot without green screens although,
when used, the lighting holdes the image together and creates believable moments.
Lubezki has two predominant styles of lighting the actors faces. One is called short lite, which is when
the shadow side of the subject s faces the camera (three fourths lighting style) and the other style of
lighting cuts right down the middle of the actors faces. We see this in A Series of Unfortunate Events,

The Pros And Cons Of GMO Maize
GMO Maize: A Convoluted Solution
In 2002, a scourge of famine and hunger emerged in Southern Africa, threatening the lives of millions
while sweeping through the many underdeveloped countries of Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique,
Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe. This epidemic, induced by drought, economic crises, HIV/AIDS,
and high inflation of staple food prices, was addressed in a 2002 conference between the
representatives from the United States, European Union, and African Nations. However, this debate
encompassed a convoluted friction between proponents of their own respective form of aid. The
European Union would offer monetary aid while the United States would offer food aid in the form of
genetically modified corn supplied by the US Agency for International Development or USAID. For
every moment that had passed in the conference, the plague of hunger, HIV, and an inequitable
disarray of food accessibility would further ravage the African countries; therefore, it was crucial to
accept the corn as a quick and effective means of relief. In the face of a dilemma of such great
magnitude, the African nations had decided to accept the aid from the US delegation in the form of
GM cornmeal. The main objective of the aid program was to prevent an African famine on a large
scale, while repairing and adjusting the smaller intricacies of the nations. Although the controversy of
the GM content in corn would generate an immense burden of apprehension on the shoulders of the

Big Bend Wildlife And Biodiversity
Wildlife and Biodiversity in Big Bend
Big Bend National Park provides habitats for a dizzying array of animals, such as bats, birds, snakes,
lizards, turtles, fish, mountain lions, and bears; these habitats are found in the deserts, the mountains,
and river (Flynn, 61). In this park, bats are a major pollinator of cacti and other flowering plants and a
major consumer of flying insects. The most common animal found in Big Bend is the vultures. The
vulture s heads prevent infestation from parasites. They feed chiefly on carrion; also, their digestive
systems are designed to kill bacteria (Common Bats of Big Bend National Park). There s not a

Before you start, you have to plan how you would spend the day in the park. The first thing that you
can do is get a map of the park and see how long the park is. Then, we will know what s in the park;
we will have to see the most popular activities or events that everyone likes to come to see or do. Once
we know what we want to do, we will start by going to watch the birds because it would be very nice,
in that way we can learn all about the birds that are in this park. Another thing we can do is go to the
rivers and see all the mountains that are near there. In this park, there are many activities that we can
do, but what I think would be more fun is to go on rivers trips. I know it may be dangerous but doesn t
like to go. Hiking would be another activity that would be in my plan, in this way we can take less
than two hours hiking in Chisos Mountain. It would be a nice view to see all the mountains at once or
even rivers since the rivers and the mountains are close to each other. After we do some activities such
as bird watching, River trips, and hiking. These parks also have programs we can do and learn more
about Big Bend such as guided walk, evening program, talk or workshop on the natural and cultural
history of the Big Bend. To accomplish a day at the park, you would need to know how long you need
to spend on that specific place for an example, let s say we want to go for a hiking on Emory Peak
Mountain. This mountain is about twelve.one mile, we know that an hour and a half we can walk more
than thirteen. So we will decide to spend at least two hours on covering one mountain. For a river trip,
I would say it would take us more than three hours, but since you want to view all the park, well the
best thing to do is that do half of each river, In this case, you won t be missing nothing about Big Bend

The Concepts Of Human Psychology
With each choice you take, each judgment you make, there is a conflict in your psyche; a fight
amongst instinct and rationale. Moreover, the instinctive piece of your brain is significantly more
intense than you may might suspect. The vast majority of us get a kick out of the chance to believe
that we are equipped for settling on sound choices. We may on occasion depend on our gut nature,
however in the event that essential we can approach our forces of motivation to touch base at a
consistent choice. Usually, we surmise that we have purposes behind what we trust, that is frequently a
misstep.

This quick state of mind is staggeringly effective, yet completely covered up. It is so intense, it is

constrained, we are not immaculate, we are nonsensical in a wide range of ways but then you have no
clue this is going on. This framework is your concealed auto pilot, and it has its very own brain. It is
sometimes known as the outsider inside. More often than not, our quick, instinctive personality is in
charge, proficiently assuming responsibility of the considerable number of thousands of choices we
make every day. The issue comes when we permit our quick, instinctive framework to settle on
choices that we should disregard to our moderate, consistent framework. This is the place the
oversights sneak in.
Our reasoning is loaded with efficient errors referred to clinicians as intellectual predispositions and
they influence all that we do. They make us spend incautiously, be excessively impacted by what other
individuals think. They influence our convictions, our sentiments, and our choices, and we have no

Leadership Studies Minor At Baylor University
The Culmination of my Leadership Studies Minor The Leadership Studies Minor at Baylor University
provides students with the opportunity to learn about leadership in ways that will be useful in their

of leadership that are relevant to the work force today. The leadership courses I have taken at Baylor
and my time as part of the Leadership Living Learning Center, better known as LEAD, has shaped my
opinion of the importance of the Leadership Studies Minor. This paper will examine how the
Leadership Studies Minor helped me learn about myself as a leader and guided me to pursue my
passions in the next chapter of my life. In my first semester at Baylor I was forced to quickly adapt to
both the pace of college classes and the demands of LEAD. My freshman year in LEAD

captain of the tennis team at my high school and the oldest of seven in my family. These roles were
similar in that because I had the most authority, based on skill for the tennis team and seniority over
my siblings, I felt comfortable in a leadership position. I quickly learned as part of the LEAD program

Bioluminescent Life Forms Essay
Being able to see in the dark often does not come easy. For humans, we typically need to find a
flashlight, and more times than not, find new batteries to power the device. For animals, it can be
different. Some animals may see fine and night, and some animals have large eyes like owls that
capture lots of light, and some animals use other senses to gather information about their
surroundings. We humans on the other hand are left fumbling for candles when the power is out for
any length of time. But there are some life forms that have a completely different approach

In luminescent animals, chemical compounds mix together to produce a glow. Several earthworm
species create a luminescent secretion that does not have an obvious purpose. Unlike incandescence, it
neither requires nor generates much heat. The reason for some mushrooms glow is also unclear,
although some scientist believe it attracts insects that spread the mushrooms spores.
With the expanding technology and recent discoveries, more questions about bioluminescence are
answered daily but the history of bioluminescence dates back thousands of years. Scientists had a
basic idea of the difference between incandescence and luminescence as far back as 2500 years ago.
One of the earliest written accounts of bioluminescence dates back to Aristotle, and in the first century
Gaius Plinius Secundus, a roman statesman, naturalist, and writer who began to document some of the
glowing creatures near his home. There he had access to the Bay of Naples, a body of water known to
many bioluminescent creatures. He identified many of the glowing animals, including the Plumo
Marinus, recognized today as the Purple Jellyfish, and he also remarked on the luminescent clam,
Pholas dactylus. He was also the first recorded human use of bioluminescence, describing how he
used a walking stick rubbed against a jellyfish s slime to light up his trail. During the next 1,300 years,
research of bioluminescent organisms was rare because such suspicious creatures were often

Global War On Terrorism And Terrorism
Global War On Terrorism
The attack executed in the United States on September 11, 2001 was one of the worst attacks and acts
of war ever seen in U.S. history. On that day 2,996 innocent people were killed, over 6,000 people
were injured, and about $10 billion in structural and infrastructure damages was caused. The cost
added up to $3 trillion in total.
The Global War on Terrorism is a metaphor of war referring to the global military campaign led by the
United States of America. The war is a NATO operation being led by the U.S. Being a NATO
operation, it automatically brings more than 20 allies to the U.S. s side of the conflict. The U.S. also
has multiple non NATO allies in the War on Terror. The war has been ongoing for just over 15 years,
and has been one of the longest wars in the history of the U.S. The location is global, of course, it is in
the name. The war is not set in just one location because of the fact that terrorists operate in cells
spread out the world, instead of one single army. A lot like how different street gangs are spread
throughout a city. Even though there is not a set location, most of the conflict is centralized in the
Middle East. Specifically the countries: Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Pakistan and recently in Syria.
The main issue with terrorism is that it is a strategy which uses both intimidation and violence in the
pursuit of political, religious or ideological gain. Most acts of terrorism involve the killing of innocent
people

An American Summer Tom Comparison
An American Summer is a movie that retells the story of the classic Adventures of Tom
Sawyer remixed into a 1970 s Southern California setting in order to explore new themes and ideas. In
this modernized setting, the story diverges from the original plot, while highlighting similar elements
as the original novel.
In An American Summer, the characters are meant to be reflective of their Tom Sawyer counterparts in

important role in developing the story, themes, and ideas of the original. In Tom Sawyer, Tom is

Motorcycle Club Evil Vs Evil
The television show, Sons of Anarchy has first aired in 2008 on cable network FX. It is considered as
a crime drama since its main focus is the motorcycle club which carries the same name as the show
itself (IMDb). The members of this club were living their life in outlaw, believing that they kept the
order in the town called Charming while in most of the cases they did things that could put members
behind jail bars. For six seasons, Jax and the club have been unlikely heroes, as a working class biker
gang dabbling in guns, drugs, prostitution, and pornography. Oh, and tons of violence (...) But, despite
the shady deals and blood baths, viewers have stood by the Sons since 2008, because they protected
Charming and seemingly avoided killing innocent people (Worden, Paste Magazine). The spectators

People are trying to understand if God is all powerful and good, why does evil exist in the world?
They think that evil is a mystery, it comes from people s own free will, from Adam and Eve s original
sin or from the covenant with God. Also they classify evil in five categories; natural evil, radical evil,
evil for evil s sake, modern evil and the banality of evil. The television show Sons of Anarchy has
both radical evil and modern evil in itself. While Jax Teller, Tara Knowles and Opie Winston are
modern evils; Clay Morrow, IRA members and Gemma Teller are radical evils. Understanding or even
making comments about these characters is much easier while using theodicy, since its general
questions can be applied to even small subjects like violence or murders. Its theories about why evil

Did Marco Polo Go To China Essay
Did Marco Polo go to China?
Have you ever told a story about yourself and each time you told that story, you might have changed a
few details to make you seem like a better person or have you ever told a story and left some parts out
of it because you forgot or it was not that interesting or funny to you so you did not want to express it
to others.? Then eventually, people start wondering did your story really happen. Well, this is what
happen to Marco Polo. Did Marco Polo ever go to China? I believe that he did go, but I do believe that
some things that he talked about was over exaggerated and some things that he left out was not
interesting to him.
First of all, I believe that people did not believe him because he over exaggerated on things. ... Show

Marco Polo was short on his descriptions of his trip. Even in the prologue and giving a brief
description of his family and him and their trip to China. The author states that this leaves an
impersonal tone with a strong flavor of the guidebook (37). The fact that he left stuff out of the book
makes him unreliable even more with the exaggerated details. Within the book, the author states that
he left out the ladies feet that were bounded, descriptions of the places he went to, and the tea that was
known in China. The author stated he wandered around China with his eyes alternatively open (to
porcelain and palaces) and closed to ladies feet, Great Walls and proffered cups of tea. Marco Polo s
book however full of wonderful descriptions, is also filled with inaccuracies and discrepancies (111).
Even though he did not have full descriptions, I believe that he still went to China because he could
have written about things that were just interested to him. The author states he exaggerated because he
was not educated and was not an historian. It also was stated that he might have not drank the tea
because Italians and Mongols were not big tea drinkers, he was not interested in that (137 138). Later
on, the author stated as well that Perhaps we should accept the editorial prerogative of author and

Effects Of Thyroid Hormones On Cortical Neuron Dendritic...
Effect of Thyroid Hormone on Cortical Neuron Dendritic Outgrowth and Cell Viability Thyroid
hormones have been known to be essential for normal neurodevelopment for over a century1. A
deficiency in thyroid hormone (TH) during gestation, often due to inadequate levels of iodine have
serious consequences for offspring including cretinism which is characterized as severe cognitive
impairment, ataxia and sensory deficits. Cretinism is the most common preventable cause of brain
damage worldwide2. Research has shown that even mildly decreased thyroid hormone during this
critical period can effect cognitive function3. TH hormones mainly mediate their effects by binding to
nuclear thyroid hormone receptors within the cytoplasm that bind to TH response elements to activate
transcription4. In some rodent studies, thyroid hormones were found to have significant influence on
the development of neuronal processes. Gestational deficiency of TH in Purkinje neurons leads to
reduced cell numbers, dendrite arborization, synaptogenesis, and axon/dendrite growth5.The critical
period in which these cells require TH in the rodent begins at E18 and proceeds through the first two
to three weeks of postnatal life5, although the literature is not consistent on this critical window. Some
of the effects of thyroid hormone on the neuronal cells include increased proliferation, migration, and
morphogenesis of axonal and dendritic processes6, however there are gaps in our mechanistic

The Concept Of Hinduism And Buddhism
INTRODUCTION TO THE CONCEPT OF HINDUISM AND BUDDHISM
Hinduism is often called one of the oldest living religions or oldest living major traditions amongst
other religions still being practiced currently, this is due to the fact that certain elements within
Hinduism stretches back for thousands of years.
Hinduism is often referred to as Sanatana Dharma , a Sanskrit phrase meaning the eternal law . Also, it
does not have a single definition mostly because it holds a vast array of beliefs and also because it can
be linked to Buddhism, Jainism etc.
Some schools of thoughts do not describe Hinduism as a religion but rather as a way of worship that
informs you about the duties, life style and vision of living established in the Indian subcontinent.
Hinduism is formed from diverse traditions, as such Hinduism does not have a single founder.
Buddhism is a tradition that focuses on personal spiritual development and knowing or attainment of a
deeper insight to the true nature of life. Buddhists do not believe in a personal God, instead in
Buddhism it is believed that nothing is fixed or permanent and that change is inevitable and always
possible.
Buddhists believe that life is endless and subject to suffering and uncertainty. This comes from the
Buddhist school of thought that teaches that existence is endless because individuals are reincarnated
time and time again thus continually experiencing suffering and pain throughout many life times.
There are different schools of

The Positive Aspects Of Stereotypes
In todays world everyone has their own stereotypes, whether they are positive stereotypes of negative
stereotypes. They can also be true or false in a sense of being rational and just being ignorant.
Stereotypes are used today to give groups an image of what most people claim for that group to be
like. Normally when someone is referring to or using the word stereotype they are referring to a
collective, professors are smart, firemen are fearless, etc. Humans are around unfamiliar areas or
groups they are uncertain about; they tend to use the little knowledge that exists to themselves to
reduce uncertainty about the situation. To a lesser degree one knows about the situation the more
stereotypical thoughts are made and used. Simple auto stereotype is the term referred to when
referring to members of a nationality. Thoughts on this is idea is that everyone will have their own
thoughts and ideas with other groups. Knowing less about different nationalities is the reason for
stereotype thoughts towards them. I am from a small town called Perry, Georgia and here numerous
amount of Indians own gas stations throughout town. The. Stereotype the community created for the
Indian gas station is that they are cheap. The Indian gas stations have all the cheap snacks, drinks, they
even sell a cheap generic brand of ibuprofen. The fact we as a community do not know much about
their race and that they have cheaper prices for snacks and drinks we use stereotype to help with the
uncertainty in the situation. The Five Factor Model (FFM) was started because trait approaches had
become exceedingly important in understanding the relationship between culture and personality. This
is why the Five Factor Model is the dominant view in society today. These five dimensions are
conscientiousness, neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience and agreeableness. Many
premature studies have provided support for the cross cultural validity of the Five Factor Model. Allik
and McCrae (2004) made it be visible that the personality traits were not related to a geographic
location, but, geographically recognized historically close cultures had more similar personality
profiles. In the end the results to date provide strong

The Problem Of Being Homeless
There is not one person who is exactly alike. As people grow up and start to learn who they are they
start to make their own choices. Sometimes people choose to be homeless, and sometimes they can t
make ends meet to feed their family so they are forced to live on the streets. Not every homeless you
meet wants to be there but sometimes that s the only choice they have left. Trying to find work is not
always the possible. Sometimes people have the knowledge to go to school but they aren t able to
because they don t have the proper funds to do so. Many times even though people want to go to
school they can t because they have to go to work to try to make ends meet for themselves and their
families.
Some people are also homeless because they are addicted to drugs and/or alcohol. A person who is
addicted to something like that often can t get out of it because they are so addicted to the drug, it is
very hard to get clean. Many times they relapse and go back to drugs just as they were almost done
with treatment. Often people who are addicted to drugs had a life that didn t have anything to do with
homelessness. At one point in their life they had a home, a family, kids, and a job. However
sometimes things can get overwhelming and they decide to try drugs for the first time and that first
time is where everything turns to worst. Doing drugs is a very costly thing and can waste all your
money doing them. People try drugs for the first because they feel stressed and they think

Maus by Art Spiegelman
In the book Maus it shows many structures in the way the animals are portrayed. The Jews being
drawn as mice; mice are known to be small and dependent. As the Germans being drawn as cats; cats
being bigger and more independent tend to eat mice. Nazis haunt torture and kill the weak Jews just
like cats. It is an analogy, cats and mouse. The mouse is a symbol for subordinate and the cat is
supremacy. Spiegelman s meaning for drawings the character like that has a totally different approach.
His main purpose was to show the different kinds of ethnicities in the book, through the different types
of animals in order to tell them apart. His main purpose was also to show the human traits of the
animal by drawing them with human bodies.
In the first book, the characters are made sure to represent the different characters description of the
character, Spiegleman does it by dividing them into their ethnicity, the Jews shown as mice, the
Germans as cats, and the Polish as pigs. Having done this Spiegleman created a different form to view
the diversities of his characters by simply arranging the people through different types of human types
that were categorized by that time by portraying the readers that the Jews who are viewed as the mice
in this case are shown the weakest and subordinate, this enables much significance in the choice of
characters. In the book you see that the Germans and Jews were starting to form a game of cat and
mouse where the Germans start to bother the Jews

Social Inquiry And A Natural Human Activity
Human beings seek a general understanding of their environment or the world around them. This is
what is known as inquiry and it is a natural human activity. People recognize that present
circumstances usually affect the future and as such, they need to make decisions regarding their
present situation to have a better future compared to the present circumstance. Such needs push them
to inquire about both the present and the future situations to develop and give them a better chance of
having a comfortable life. Through social inquiry, people ask questions, they gather the information
and examine the background to most of the important societal events and ideas (Pollner, 2010).

Social inquiry is a systematically way of thinking. It is a way that the mind revels if a circumstance or
situation is true or false even when other things point to the same outcome.
Social inquiry is where the situations are broken down and looking at it to determine why such
occurrences happened or took place. Assumptions is what we humans do on a daily basis, not
following it up or trying to understand the circumstance behind it (Greene, 2007). Everyday
assumptions are made mainly because we as individuals have been brought up to believe that situation
or circumstance to be true. Most of the situations are what human beings have been brought up
understanding it that way. Everyday assumptions are made from what human beings learn on a daily
basis. They are based on who people interact with such as environment. As such, the difference in
regard to social inquiry arises. Where everyday assumption depends on what human beings learn and
their interaction to different phenomena, social inquiry tries to understand better through different
methods of research. Another difference between the two is the people understand. Everyday
assumption changes over time. In a certain period, the assumption may mean something, however, in
another period it changes meaning to mean a totally different thing. Social inquiry however rests its
case when a conclusion is reached about the situation or circumstance. The matter can only be
revisited if it is felt that the investigation or

What Does Something Mean To You Essay
In society, we tend to anticipate one s possibilities to the greatest extent. As Henry David Thoreau
stated, One is not born into the world to do everything, but to do something. I believe my something is
to impact my community by helping those who are either in need of help, or who are in quest for
clarification.
This journey will not be a easy task, but I am determined with ambition and dedication to helping
those who seek guidance. The smallest gestures can have the most significant influence on someone s
life whether it means helping a student with their homework, or gathering ideas for a group project.
The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don t wait for good things to happen
to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will
fill yourself with hope, as stated by our President. Acknowledging the difference in one s behavior
because you ve provided them with something they once didn t have, should make a difference to you.

Impulsive, Irresponsible, Or Just Plain Essay
Some would consider Max impulsive, irresponsible, or just plain serendipitous because he loved to
shower his family with unexpected surprises. He hid candy in his overcoat pockets; when he arrived
home from work, the seven took turns guessing which pocket held the treats. The ultimate
serendipitous occasion occurred when he surprised them with the news they were getting a five foot
deep, twenty two foot wide, above ground swimming pool. Only one other house in the neighborhood
had an above ground pool, so that added to the element of surprise. They felt like they were the richest
family in the world.
Sitting on the sidewalk that ran along the sliding glass door, just off the kitchen facing the backyard,
all seven children sat like ducks in a row, watching the assembly of their new treasure. Max and
Hanna, along with Uncle John, walked all over the yard trying to decide the best place to put the pool.
Agreeing on the far right corner of the backyard, the swing set that kept them occupied the previous
summer was dismantled.

Millie pointed, Why is Dad making a big circle with that white stuff? It looks like the white chalk on a

It is now important to know the different laws and develop new laws by which these new relationships
interact. The key is to understand the different laws and how they are used, where and how should
they be enforced and how to protect our interests and the interest of others and how we can use and
develop laws to the best advantage of society. According to Daniel W. Uhlefelder
Security, Internet taxation, electronic signatures, privacy, copyright, minority, small business
development, and contract formation in cyberspace: These are just a few of the important legal issues
members of the new economy are going to face. (Uhlfelder, 2000)
Laws relating to our worldwide commerce are going to be needed to avoid ciaos in our economic
society. If we cannot keep up with these changes, then there may be ill effects to our society and
economy. Federal Trade Commission Chairman Robert Pitofsky reminds us that when enacting laws
we must remember:
Protect the marketplace, and don t undermine the incentives for innovation. And that is what this is
about. The incentives for innovation seem to be very important in this area. On the other hand, you
don t want people taking advantage of the fact that claming that ‘Well, We re high tech. The antitrust

Amygdala In The Limbic System
In the limbic system, there are two almond shaped groups of amygdalae. The two amygdalae (left and
right) together make up what we call the Amygdala. Amygdala in Greek means almond, hence
corresponding the name with the shape. The amygdala s right and left portions differ in specific
processing. The left and right amygdalae also have different roles when it comes to the encoding of
emotional memory for events. In humans the right amygdala is larger than the left (Murphy et al.,
2009) this could contribute to the right hemisphere being more dominant for emotion. The amygdala
can also differ according to sex. For example in both humans and rats, a male s amygdala tends to be

The amygdala receives projections from the hippocampus, the thalamus, and the prefrontal cortex.
Basically projections come from a variety of several structures. Research shows that the amygdala is
shown to perform a primary role in the processing of memory, decision making and emotional
reactions. The amygdala is also exceedingly responsive to social and emotional stimuli as conveyed
vocally, through touch, and via the face (Gloor, 1992; Halgren, 1992; Kling Brothers 1992; Morris et
al., 2013; Rolls, 2007, 1992). The amygdala is responsible for a lot of our survival related needs. For

after trauma suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Traumatic events can actually alter the
structure and function of people s brains (H. (2016) How To Heal The Brain After Trauma). Which
results in the amygdala being in a highly alert loop. Their brains tend to stay on alert, seeking out

Hip Hop, A Popular Genre Of Music
Hip Hop is a subcultural movement that formed in the early 1970s by African American, Caribbean
and Latino youths. It wasn t until the late 1980s that it became popular outside of the African
American community and by the 2000s it became the most popular genre of music. However, the
subculture has evolved through out the years and the comparison between then and now is growing
increasingly big. Hip Hop in the 80s consisted of music, dance, creativity and artistry. It also allowed
people an avenue to express themselves and deliver a sense of their surroundings and backgrounds
whether that was positive or negative. As well as this bringing communities together, it also drove
them apart as expressing yourself got competitive and with hip hop being a music form. People would
start to offend each other through lyrics, by pointing out disadvantages. This culture was now so
competitive that violence started to outbreak due to people taking it to serious and this brought so
much bad attention towards it, to be a rapper was basically classing yourself as a criminal.
Unfortunately, how most people remember hip hop may be distorted through the prevalence of
violence in the hip hop culture, whether heard in lyrics, seen from artists or in the media s
representation of artist beef. (Janeé, L. 2015) The fashion statement within this subculture was heavily
frowned upon due to its strong relation to gangs and how they dressed. It consisted of over sized

Tale Of Two Cities Injustice
A Tale Of Two Cities
A Tale Of Two Cities was during the French Revolution. It was a time of disorder and also an
outstanding period. It was the time of fear, of lots of violence, robberies, and blood all over the streets.
It was the time of joy and happiness. It was the time of injustice throughout society. A time of great
change throughout society. The book A Tale Of Two City has majors theme throughout the book. One
major theme is metaphorically resurrected from death and having a second chance at life. Another
major theme throughout the book is how society was injustice and corrupted.
Resurrection from death is coming back to live figuratively. Throughout the book more than one
characters are being resurrected from death. A main person is Dr.Manette. Manette was imprisoned for
eighteen years in the Bastile unjustly. Manette was figuratively dead. Manette spent his time in prison

The Journey Of Becoming A Prosecutor Essay
Zach Howard Mrs. Creel English IV 7 October 2016 The Journey of Becoming a Prosecutor The
prosecutor is the chief legal representative of the prosecution in countries with either the common law
adversarial system or the civil law inquisitorial system. The prosecution is the legal party responsible
for presenting the case in a criminal trial against an individual accused of breaking the law. A
prosecutor prosecutes someone for an illegal crime. There are different rules in different states for a
prosecutor. In some states, a prosecutor would have to show the court a written statement of the
felonies. In other states, the prosecutor must gather a Grand Jury before charging the culprit with a
crime. A Grand Jury is a group of people selected by the prosecutors or prosecutor to review the
evidence and tells whether the criminal is innocent or guilty. The Grand Jury also puts their opinion
out and sometimes they all do not agree if the criminal gets prosecuted or not. A criminal prosecutor is
also a type of lawyer. Becoming a prosecutor has multiple steps from going to college and achieving a
law degree, from clearing the bar examination, and achieving the dreams of being a prosecutor. When
I start college I have to start with my basics first of course. Also, going to a community college to take
my basics is what I plan to do in succeeding to become a criminal prosecutor. Then, I plan on going to

There is research to be done to figure out the best solution to this problem. There is two ways of
looking at this when birds hit planes causing damage to the plane or even bringing the plane down.
Much like, the canadian goose that hit the plane and brought it down into the Hudson River. This is a

oncoming planes. The other way of looking at it is the planes harming the way the birds are living. A
lot of airports are by where the birds will nest. Also, the noise of the plane interferes and hurts the
roosting and feeding of the birds. This is a big wildlife management if these birds are being bothered
and put out of the way of where the birds are supposed to live, then there are solutions for new airports
being built in different, bird free, areas. The top priority is to keep the wild birds safe and to keep them
in their way of life and not to alter the way the birds live.
A plane was downed over New York when a bird was sucked into the jet engine. Flight 1459 just

Essay about Birth Order
Birth Order
Does being the eldest child make people highly intellectual, people pleasing, perfectionists? Are the
middle children always impatiently competing for parental attention by rebelling against the rules?
Are all last born children the spoiled, selfish, favorites? Birth order, a highly controversial topic, is
defined as the dynamics of an individual s place in the family compared to that of their siblings. Birth
order has been in a fiery discussion for over one hundred years; some say it s the very foundation of
each one of our personalities, while others claim that the margin of error is just too wide for these
coincidental patterns to bear any meaning.
Alfred Alder, the first to study birth order and the family dynamics that ... Show more content on

Another famous, or infamous, characteristic eldest tend to portray is that of selfishness (Murphy).
Born into a life of privilege and not having to share a single thing gives them their first dose of the
selfish trait. They are the receivers of the first time parent pampering love, and they are the first to
experience the confusion that accompanies the birth of a younger sibling. They are not used to having
to share everything; therefore they act as if they are the Alfa male to the new arrival, which also
explains the previously stated dominant trait that domino effects them into the role of the mentor.
One thing is for sure about eldest children: They are nothing like middle born children. Middle
children are dubbed as the outgoing, friendly, and loud sibling. All too often do they get lost in the
madness of the family dynamics and, in turn, develop a competitive nature. They are eager for their
parents approval and praise, but feel as if their older sibling received too much credit and their
younger sibling receives too little discipline compared to them (Neal). They are both teacher and
student, babysitter and babysat, too young for the privileges of the firstborn but too old for the latitude
given the last (Kluger).
Much could be said about the last born children because they seem to always fit the molded stereotype
of themselves. Their characteristics can be picked up on in a matter of minutes in a conversation; there

Correlation Between Self Esteem And Healthy Individuals
Studies relating to CNM relationships have not yet begun to explore the individual s self esteem. As
has already been discussed, the research relating to CNM relationships has provided a plethora of
information supporting healthy relationships and healthy individuals. The next step is to explore the
self esteem of these CNM individuals. Therefore, the purpose of this research proposal is to explore
correlations between self esteem scores on the Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1989) with
relationship choice, including polyamory, swinging, BDSM and open relationships. The researcher
believes that based on the evidence presented of individuals who engage in CNM having many of the
same traits as those with higher scores on self esteem scales that the individuals who engage in CNM
will also score high on a self esteem scale. (For this proposal non consensual non monogamous
relationships will be considered monogamous as it is assumed that at least one party of the couple
identifies as being in a monogamous relationship.) Specifically, the researcher believes that
individuals involved in consensually non monogamous relationships will have self esteem scores
similar to the general population (See Figure 1). In fact, the researcher believes that the scores will be
scores associated with having high self esteem across all types of consensual non monogamies (See
Figure 2). Method Participants Sample participants would be obtained by attending local lifestyle or

Native American Names And Mascots
For sports teams to use Native American names and mascots is offensive. Sports teams using their
names and mascots has been a growing debate with the NFL s Washington Redskins and Kansas City
Chiefs, the MLB s Atlanta Braves and Cleveland Indians, and the NHL s Chicago Blackhawks. The
mascots and names sports teams use have been negative and stereotypical, along with dishonoring and
insulting Native American traditions. These names and mascots that sports teams are using have been
negative and stereotypical towards Native Americans. Sports teams have used names like braves,
redskins, and chiefs. The word braves has been used to dehumanize the Indian make and equates him
to something less than human. The word redskins refers to the bloody

No matter the name Piaget believed that children benefit most from concrete experiences or hands on activities that allow the student to manipulate his or her environment in order to build knowledge based on interactions with the universe.(Mohammad,2012) Piaget believed knowledge is acquired in a set of stages. There is 4 stages that knowledge is obtained. The first stage Sensorimotor occurs approximately between the age of two. Children at this stage develop the idea of Object Permanence. The idea that an object exists even though they can t see it. In this step children also acquire the ability of reflexes. In stage two Preoperational stage begins. This usually happens between the age of 2 7. Children of this age bracket are egocentric and are dominated by perception. (ch.2.4) They believe that the world exists from their view point. They understand concrete present day stuff but no understanding of abstract. 7 11 yrs enter the Concrete Operational stage. The logical stage. Children are able to se different viewpoints. It is essential for hotels and restaurants to gain a competitive advantage through differentiation to create and provide unique experiences for customers. After all, customers not only pay for products, they also pay for the services provided, embracing the experience economy. There are seven marketing strategies to achieve this goal, two of which are Physical Evidence and Process . This paper will be discussing these two strategies and how the hospitality industry uses them to create memorable experiences. The first of the two strategies is Physical Evidence . Customers tend to rely on physical cues to assist in evaluation of a product before buying it. These physical cues are provided by the physical evidence of the product. In the hotels and restaurants, the physical environment plays a huge role in physical evidence. The physical environment includes factors such as ambiance and spatial layout. (Professional Academy) These factors are crucial in evoking emotions in customers. When ambiance and spacial layout are done right or tailored to suit the theme of the restaurant or hotel, customers would feel positively about their whole experience. • 6. Descriptive Essay About Sea Animals It was dark outside. Clouds loomed over the skies as I walked into the enormous colorful building. Blazing rays of LED lights shone through the entrance s translucent windows. Brightness and gleams engulfed my vision like a wildfire. My eyes blink, trying to focus where I was walking. As I paced myself through the crowded corridors of the large hallway trying to find my group of friends, I could see murals of sea animals everywhere and signs directing where each exhibit was. Animated and overjoyed, I pranced to the first exhibit where the baby sand sharks were. They were extraordinary, swimming around their tank but sadly not able to leave their confined space. Their tank only allowed them to swim continuously in circles. Although animals in captivity tend to live longer than animals in the wild, it is depressing to mull over how they were stripped of their freedom. There was nowhere to escape when housed in such small enclosures. While exploring the intriguing domain, I stared wide eyed in the dim rooms, my face was illuminated by the glowing tanks while fish and other marine life gawked at me. It was as if they wanted me to join them or aid them to escape their aquatic prison. It was depressing to be so close to them, to be only separated by glass, but unable to save them. Many animals could have been violently captured from their homes with no hope of ever being reunited with their true families. The stress of hearing to kids crying, people clapping, loud music, ... Sweatshops benefit many developing countries as they provide opportunities of employment to the people living in poverty and benefit the community at large by creating an economic infrastructure that utilizes the country s resources and increases their tax base. The making of a product was broken down into specific categories so that each person had a specific task and repeated that task over and over and over again. Instead of one person making a product from start to finish, each person was given one task to perform repeatedly. For example one person would be spinning the yarn while the next worker would be weaving cloths (Hapke, 2001). The Pros And Cons Of GMO Maize GMO Maize: A Convoluted Solution In 2002, a scourge of famine and hunger emerged in Southern Africa, threatening the lives of millions while sweeping through the many underdeveloped countries of Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe. This epidemic, induced by drought, economic crises, HIV/AIDS, and high inflation of staple food prices, was addressed in a 2002 conference between the representatives from the United States, European Union, and African Nations. However, this debate encompassed a convoluted friction between proponents of their own respective form of aid. The European Union would offer monetary aid while the United States would offer food aid in the form of genetically modified corn supplied by the US Agency for International Development or USAID. For every moment that had passed in the conference, the plague of hunger, HIV, and an inequitable disarray of food accessibility would further ravage the African countries; therefore, it was crucial to accept the corn as a quick and effective means of relief. In the face of a dilemma of such great magnitude, the African nations had decided to accept the aid from the US delegation in the form of GM cornmeal. The main objective of the aid program was to prevent an African famine on a large scale, while repairing and adjusting the smaller intricacies of the nations. Another thing we can do is go to the rivers and see all the mountains that are near there. In this park, there are many activities that we can do, but what I think would be more fun is to go on rivers trips. I know it may be dangerous but doesn t like to go. Hiking would be another activity that would be in my plan, in this way we can take less than two hours hiking in Chisos Mountain. The war is a NATO operation being led by the U.S. Being a NATO operation, it automatically brings more than 20 allies to the U.S. s side of the conflict. • 23. Effects Of Thyroid Hormones On Cortical Neuron Dendritic... Effect of Thyroid Hormone on Cortical Neuron Dendritic Outgrowth and Cell Viability Thyroid hormones have been known to be essential for normal neurodevelopment for over a century1. A deficiency in thyroid hormone (TH) during gestation, often due to inadequate levels of iodine have serious consequences for offspring including cretinism which is characterized as severe cognitive impairment, ataxia and sensory deficits. Cretinism is the most common preventable cause of brain damage worldwide2. Research has shown that even mildly decreased thyroid hormone during this critical period can effect cognitive function3. TH hormones mainly mediate their effects by binding to nuclear thyroid hormone receptors within the cytoplasm that bind to TH response elements to activate transcription4. In some rodent studies, thyroid hormones were found to have significant influence on the development of neuronal processes. Gestational deficiency of TH in Purkinje neurons leads to reduced cell numbers, dendrite arborization, synaptogenesis, and axon/dendrite growth5.The critical period in which these cells require TH in the rodent begins at E18 and proceeds through the first two to three weeks of postnatal life5, although the literature is not consistent on this critical window. Some of the effects of thyroid hormone on the neuronal cells include increased proliferation, migration, and morphogenesis of axonal and dendritic processes6, however there are gaps in our mechanistic understanding ... • 24. The Concept Of Hinduism And Buddhism INTRODUCTION TO THE CONCEPT OF HINDUISM AND BUDDHISM Hinduism is often called one of the oldest living religions or oldest living major traditions amongst other religions still being practiced currently, this is due to the fact that certain elements within Hinduism stretches back for thousands of years. Hinduism is often referred to as Sanatana Dharma , a Sanskrit phrase meaning the eternal law . Also, it does not have a single definition mostly because it holds a vast array of beliefs and also because it can be linked to Buddhism, Jainism etc. Some schools of thoughts do not describe Hinduism as a religion but rather as a way of worship that informs you about the duties, life style and vision of living established in the Indian subcontinent. Hinduism is formed from diverse traditions, as such Hinduism does not have a single founder. Buddhism is a tradition that focuses on personal spiritual development and knowing or attainment of a deeper insight to the true nature of life. Buddhists do not believe in a personal God, instead in Buddhism it is believed that nothing is fixed or permanent and that change is inevitable and always possible. Buddhists believe that life is endless and subject to suffering and uncertainty. This comes from the Buddhist school of thought that teaches that existence is endless because individuals are reincarnated time and time again thus continually experiencing suffering and pain throughout many life times. • 25. The Positive Aspects Of Stereotypes In todays world everyone has their own stereotypes, whether they are positive stereotypes of negative stereotypes. They can also be true or false in a sense of being rational and just being ignorant. Stereotypes are used today to give groups an image of what most people claim for that group to be like. Normally when someone is referring to or using the word stereotype they are referring to a collective, professors are smart, firemen are fearless, etc. Humans are around unfamiliar areas or groups they are uncertain about; they tend to use the little knowledge that exists to themselves to reduce uncertainty about the situation. To a lesser degree one knows about the situation the more stereotypical thoughts are made and used. Simple auto stereotype is the term referred to when referring to members of a nationality. Thoughts on this is idea is that everyone will have their own thoughts and ideas with other groups. Knowing less about different nationalities is the reason for stereotype thoughts towards them. I am from a small town called Perry, Georgia and here numerous amount of Indians own gas stations throughout town. The. Stereotype the community created for the Indian gas station is that they are cheap. The Indian gas stations have all the cheap snacks, drinks, they even sell a cheap generic brand of ibuprofen. The fact we as a community do not know much about their race and that they have cheaper prices for snacks and drinks we use stereotype to help with the uncertainty in the situation. The Five Factor Model (FFM) was started because trait approaches had become exceedingly important in understanding the relationship between culture and personality. This is why the Five Factor Model is the dominant view in society today. These five dimensions are conscientiousness, neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience and agreeableness. Many premature studies have provided support for the cross cultural validity of the Five Factor Model. Allik and McCrae (2004) made it be visible that the personality traits were not related to a geographic location, but, geographically recognized historically close cultures had more similar personality profiles. Assumptions is what we humans do on a daily basis, not following it up or trying to understand the circumstance behind it (Greene, 2007). He hid candy in his overcoat pockets; when he arrived home from work, the seven took turns guessing which pocket held the treats. The ultimate serendipitous occasion occurred when he surprised them with the news they were getting a five foot deep, twenty two foot wide, above ground swimming pool. Only one other house in the neighborhood had an above ground pool, so that added to the element of surprise. They felt like they were the richest family in the world. Sitting on the sidewalk that ran along the sliding glass door, just off the kitchen facing the backyard, all seven children sat like ducks in a row, watching the assembly of their new treasure. Also, the noise of the plane interferes and hurts the roosting and feeding of the birds. This is a big wildlife management if these birds are being bothered and put out of the way of where the birds are supposed to live, then there are solutions for new airports being built in different, bird free, areas.
