Analysis Of The California Reentry Institute ( Cri )
I had the honor to have a face to face interview with Collette Carroll. Collette is part of a team of
the California Reentry Institute (CRI) which is a pre and post releases program those offenders
within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation which is located in San
Quentin State Prison. The California reentry program was developed in 2008; the Department of
Correction realized offenders being released from prison should have the opportunity to attend a
pre and post release program. The reentry program is a volunteer program to the offenders. The
pre release program is an 18 24 month weekly program ran by an experienced team with strong
curriculum which is designed to provide insight, life skill, education and a comprehensive
individual case management. The post release is provided once the offender has graduated from
prerelease program and the offender is released from prison. The post release program the
offender receives assistance with basic needs such as transportation, clothing amenities, food,
financial resources, documentation (ID), health care, life skills addiction and recovers aftercare
and continued individual case management. The California reentry program held is first
graduation ceremony on January 17, 2014 after 27 months of programs and individual case
management. In May of 2015 CRI started the new two year class which consist of more offenders
due to more offenders are qualifying for the reentry program. Collette stated her career

Kaplan University Personal Statement
I am studying at Kaplan University Online to obtain a Bachelors Degree in Nutritional Science.
My dream is to be a Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist. KU s B.S.N.S. is not accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), so I will need to apply

The Art Scene in New York City in the 60 s and Early 70s
Reflection circa 1973 was, grinding away best, an unobtrusively venturesome redesign on prior
models. A significant part of the new painting seen in Manhattan doesn t climb so high. It s
generally a gifted however doomed repeat. Four decades back, execution workmanship was an
option to painting. It was offbeat and clunky, past innovation, or perhaps unreasonably underneath
it, intended to reflect a world in which materials were transient, models pointless, values tricky. A
ton of late execution workmanship in New York, especially that in the biennial celebration
Performa, has had very nearly the inverse properties: It s cleaned, bundled, pricey, storehouse
primed.
Then, we can set out over to the execution art s beginnings in a sketchy yet engrossing archival
presentation, Customs of Rented Island: Object Theater, Loft Performance, and the New
Psychodrama Manhattan, 1970 1980 at the Whitney Museum of American Art.
New York Cityin the early 1970s was a wreck: bankrupt, or everything except, and going into
disrepair. One focal point to specialists was the accessibility of shoddy, void space, prominently in
the Lower Manhattan mechanical locale that came to be called Soho. An alternate was that, with
the workmanship showcase in the pits after the 1960s blast, there was a nothing to lose opportunity
to investigation.
Onto the scene came craftsmen who were as intrigued by dialect, theater, move, music, social work,
TV, help and stand up comic drama as they were in

Your Inner Fish
OVERVIEW QUESTIONS:
1. Why should we care about evolution? Why is it important?
Evolution is the building blocks to biological science. If we did not care about evolution, we would
not understand the concept of biology, or any type of science for that matter.
2. What does it mean to be human? Did your concept change after reading the book?
After reading the book, I began to understand why my body looks the way it looks. I realized that
we are all the same inside from fish to monkeys, and even some reptiles. We all started from the
same thing. In my opinion, being human can be summed up into a simple definition a unique
individual. Although we all developed from a similar place, being different makes us human. Each

Relate this pattern to his idea of exceptional similarities.
The pattern that was discovered by Sir Richard Owen in the mid 1800s resembled the skeleton of a
human arm. Owen found several mammals which exhibited the one bone two bone lotsa blobs
digits pattern . This pattern that Owen found basically indicated that the location of the bones in the
arm were similar the humerus, radius, ulna, few wrist bones, and lastly, the digits. He found that
this pattern could also be found in the human legs.
2. How did Charles Darwin s theory explain these similarities that were observed by Owen?
Charles Darwin had a theory, essentially saying that the human body s arm and a bat s wing have the
same bony attributes because they once shared a common ancestor. Darwin s theory explains the
observations that Sir Richard Owen made from the pattern he found.
3. What did further examination of Tiktaalik s fins reveal about the creature and its lifestyle?
The further examination of Tiktaalik s fins revealed that it had wrists, similar to a human body.
Tiktaalik s wrists allowed it to maneuver its way to the base of shallow bodies of water.

Disadvantages Of Budgeting
Budgeting performance provides as a basis for judging actual results because the inefficiencies of
past performance can be eliminated or adjusted in the budget. Another reason is that future
conditions (such as changes in technology, products, personnel and competition) may differ from
the past conditions and this can be adequately factored in the budget.
Budgeting defines expectations thus ensuring the most suitable model for future performance.
These are financial plans for future which explains allocations for revenue. Along with estimating
future sales, budgets have limits for expenses, such as payroll, rent, utilities, supplies, advertising,
insurance and taxes.
Motivational considerations help reduce employee feelings of ill will, disrespect of the budget
process, and alienation from management. For example, participation in the budget process
encourages adherence to the budget, self pride, internalization of the budgeted numbers and loyalty
to the organization. It also signals that management is committed to supporting the budget in
addition to simply preparing the budget. Ways to use budgets to motivate employees include: 1.
Communicate to employees the importance of the budget. 2. Encourage employee participation in
all aspects of the budgeting process. 3. Emphasize that top management supports all aspects of the
budgeting process. 4. Allow reasonable amounts of flexibility for adjustments to the budget. 5. Use
the comparison of actual results to budgeted results

The Great Gatsby Adaptation Essay
The adaptation of literature into film is a process that requires careful and experienced methods of
cinematic attention to details according to crucial narrative aspects of the literary piece. The film
industry has been creating visual versions of literature for quite some time, but the advancement of
modern technology has opened the door to a world full of new and exciting possibilities in terms
of visual and special effects. The Great Gatsbyby F. Scott Fitzgeraldis a timeless classic of the
American literary canon, and is a popular choice for film adaptation because the vivid imagery and
strategic symbolism of the plot that lends itself to visual recreation. Dixon (2003) comments on the
problematic attempts of film adaptations of The Great Gatsby when he states, ...the various

For example, he deletes a scene that is key to Fitzgerald s novel; consequently, he perverts the
author s original intentions for an initial establishment of the friendship between Jay Gatsby and
Nick prior to the introduction of the cultural party elements. Dixon (2003), who asserts that
Coppola sullied Fitzgerald s original intentions, reinforces this claim when he states, For example,
Nick meets Gatsby during one of his parties at Gatsby s mansion in a causal, offhand fashion. But
in the film, Nick goes for the first time to one of Gatsby s parties, is melodramatically accosted by
a grim faced bodyguard, taken upstairs in a private elevator, and finally thrust into Gatsby s study.
This attempt to heighten artificially the initial contact between Nick and Gatsby demonstrates an
unfortunate reliance upon extremely clichГ©d devices to provide dramatic tension (p. 293).
However, Fitzgerald makes it clear that Nick and Gatsby s relationship exists separately from the
dramatic elements of the

Puritan verse eighteen century deist thinking
Throughout history man s view of God has constantly evolved. During the formation of America
this is made evident when the 17th century Puritan idealism is confronted with 18th century
Enlightenment. This collision of religious ideas would spark a change, and a new age in America.
My research will shows the original American settlers had concepts and, emerging different
understanding of the biblical scripture and, needed to come to grips with social and religious
freedom from being exclusive to being more inclusive.
Puritans traveled to New England in the early seventeenth century. They believed that economic
and political force, and religious disagreements were creating a decline in English society. It is
important to note that Puritans were non separatists, meaning that they wanted to reform the
Church of England, not abandon it. (Baym 165) The first colony that the Puritans set up was north
of Plymouth, at Massachusetts Bay. However, after finding a gap in the charter they received from
King Charles I the Puritans moved their capital to Salem, Massachusetts. John Winthrop, the first
governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, the Massachusetts Puritans sought to create their City
upon a hill with laws and rules based on their religious rules. (Baym 177) A conservative
hierarchical system was formed by Puritans based on God s will

Real Time Pcr Detection Of Hiv Viral Load
Real time PCR detection of HIV viral load
Introduction:
HIV, the Human Immunodeficiency Virus is a lentivirus which is responsible for HIV infection and
eventually causes AIDS.
It s assumed that the virus has been in existence since 1930 but it s still unclear that how the virus
came into existence. There are two kinds of HIV virus, HIV 1 which causes more severe disease
and the source of transmission is a chimpanzee species Pan troglodytes whereas HIV 2 is
transmitted by Cercocebus atys, a monkey found in West Africa (Norris, 2011).
HIV binds to the CD4+ T cells because it needs CD4+ receptor to penetrate into cells. The virus
transcribes its RNA into cDNA and then integrates its DNA into the host DNA and replicates
further. It uses the DNA of CD4+ T lymphocytes and eventually ends up destroying them (Roberts,
2008). Once it weakens the immune system, the body becomes vulnerable to various diseases and
is exposed to life threatening diseases known as opportunistic infections. A population of over 35
million people have HIV/AIDS and Sub Saharan Africa constitutes half of the population
(AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY, 2014). Figure 1. A statistical map showing the number of
people infected with HIV/AIDS (Who.int, 2013).
The HIV Infection progresses through a number of stages. As shown in Figure 2. The acute
infection stage is associated with a rapid increase of the viral copies up to several millions per ml
with a slow decline in the CD4+ T cells. During the first few weeks

Serratia Marcescens Research Paper
I discovered that my unknown organism was Serratia marcescens. This organism is gram
negative and bacillus shaped. It is a member of the Enertobacteriae family. This organism appears
a red blood like color when it grows on media. It is anaerobic, but can also survive under aerobic
conditions. There are some strains of Serratia marcescens that are motile and have flagellum. It is
able to produce the enzymes chitinase, lipase, protease, nuclease, and serrawttin. It is a non
endospore forming bacteria, chromogenic, and does not ferment lactose. (Falkiner, 1997)
This bacterium can be found just about anywhere in the environment and thrives in the presence of
oxygen and without it. Majority of the time it is found on plants, animals, growing on food, in
dead organic material, soil, water, and in the air. Serratia marcescens is a mesophile and grows

Functionalism And Its Impact On Society
In this paper I will explain and argue for Functionalism. Functionalism allows for a scientific
approach to the mind body problem, while maintaining the integrity of mental and physical states
and attributing them to the functional roles they play within the bodily system. The main
argument for Functionalism is founded on the basis that it fulfills all of the requirements for an
effective form of Physicalism. 1. In order for a physicalist argument to be effective: it must
account for mental states being defined by their role; allow for mental and functional types to be
defined circularly/holistically; and allow mental states to be realized in a multitude of outcomes.
Functionalism sufficiently ensures all of these predicates. Functionalism is an adequate form of
physicalism. Like other arguments for physicalism, functionalism is based on the notion that
everything that exists in reality is physical in form. One of the main distinctions that makes the
functionalist approach unique is its method of defining objects. For example, many simple things
are defined by what they re made of, such as gold is simply Au. However more complex things
are defined in terms of what their functions are. A heart is defined as an object that pumps blood
around an organism s body, regardless of what it is made of. We cannot define a heart as something
that is made of organic cardiac muscle, has valves, contracts, etc. because theoretically, those
components could be slapped together

Essay On The Causes Of The Civil War
Civil War noun a war between political factions or regions within the same country. The regions in
the Civil War of 1860 that took place in 1860 1864 were the North and the South. They had
different beliefs that eventually sent them into war. The 3 main causes of this civil war were: states
rights, economy, and most importantly, slavery.
The first of the three main causes is states rights. The south believed they had the right to take their
slaves to the new states being admitted into the Union. In the secession document written by the
State of Virginia, it says, Powers granted under the said Constitution were derived from the people

From the article, Economics and the civil war Schulman points out, Southern planters were
concerned that high tariffs might make their European trading partner, primarily the British, raise
prices on manufactured goods imported by the south in order to maintain a profit on trade. The
south were afraid of high tariffs since they could hurt them financially in business (Schulman). Also
from the article 1828 Tariff of Abominations Alchin says The South, who had once favored Henry
Clay s Tariff 1816 and his American System which financed the construction of new roads into the

The view on tariffs was much different in the north though, they viewed them as good and helpful
since the tariffs did not really affect them other than help. In the article, Economics and the Civil

tariffs would make imported goods more expensive. Tariffs that were high would promote
American goods by making European goods seem more expensive (Schulman). The article 1828

Similarities Between Humanism And Italian Humanism
Humanism is a philosophical and ethical stance on the value of human beings. The idea of
humanism started around the early to mid 14th century starting with Petrarch, who is considered to

on what qualities a prince should have and how virtu plays a role in making a proper prince.
Although a short novel, it is Machiavelli s most widely known work and is responsible for
creating a negative view on rulers/politicians and also making it seem like anything you do, even

Bourdieu s Theory Of Cultural Development
Pierre Bourdieu s cultural reproduction has transformed as well as influenced the literature field,
following Alice Sullivan s statement on the successful results of Bourdieu s theory: Bourdieu s
theory of cultural reproduction has been highly influential, and has generated a great deal of
literature, both theoretical and empirical (144). According to Bourdieu s theory, based on his book
Distinction: A Social Critique of the Judgment of Taste, makes the declaration that higher levels of
education will result in perceiving and comprehending the world around them much differently than
a person with a much lower educational level. Bourdieu s theory attributes this claim to the terms:
cultural capital, cultural arbitrary and habitus, which are developed through education and
rationalize how the higher social classes are made up of these different forms of capital. Also, this
critical analysis of these different forms of capitals has been one of Bourdieu s major contributions
to the study of educational processes: The concept of cultural capital is one of Pierre Bourdieus
major contributions to the study and critical analysis of educational processes and the ways in
which they are associated with socially unequal outcomes (Moore 445). Given the success of
Bourdieu s theory in both literature and education, Bourdieu s theory of cultural reproductioncan be

Astrocytes Case Study
Regulation of astrocyte pathology by fluoxetine prevents the deterioration of Alzheimer phenotypes
in an APP/PS1 mouse model
Abstract
Studies have implicated astrocytic dysfunction in Alzheimer s disease (AD). However, the role of
astrocytes in the pathophysiology and treatment of the disease is poorly characterized. Here, we
identified astrocytes as independent key factors involved in several Alzheimer like phenotypes in an
APP/PS1 mouse model, including amyloid pathology, altered neuronal and synaptic properties, and
impaired cognition. In vitro astrocytes from APP/PS1 mice induced synaptotoxicity as well as
reduced dendritic complexity and axonal branching of hippocampal neurons. These astrocytes

They support neighboring neurons and integrate the nervous communication unit in the form of
tripartite synapse (Bosson et al., 2015). Astrocyte accumulation is the earliest pathological change
in AD (Wyss Coray et al., 2003). As a source of inflammatory factors in CNS, astrocytes may lead
to neurotoxic damage by generating chronic self sustaining inflammatory reactions (Griffin et al.,
1998; Paradisi et al., 2004). However, a recent randomized clinical trial found inhibiting the
inflammatory responses with anti inflammatory drugs failed to improve cognitive function in
elderly individuals with a family history of AD (Group et al., 2008), which implies inflammation
may not be the only mechanism by which astrocytes contribute to the pathogenesis of AD. Soluble
AОІ production in AD correlates well with the severity of memory/cognition impairment (Walsh
and Selkoe, 2004). AОІ disrupts neuronal calcium homeostasis, induces oxidative stress (Mosconi
et al., 2010), instigates tau hyperphosphorylation (Christensen et al., 2004; Seyb et al., 2006) and
causes extensive synaptotoxicity and neurotoxicity, all of which contribute to the AD like
phenotypes observed in animal models (Matos et al., 2012; Shrivastava et al., 2013). A previous
study has shown the expression of ОІ secretase was increased in astroglial cells in the brains of
Tg2576 AD mice, which may facilitate the generation of AОІ in this transgenic mice

Facts About Self Harm
Facts about self harm, have been kept out of view from the public eye for far longer, than
society should be proud of, Self harm is a serious issue, not just a desperate attention seeking cry,
which is what a great many have lead so many to believe. What can be defined as self harm, how
many have engaged in self harm, why do they do it, and just what exactly is self harm? Is it a
mental illness, a cry for attention or maybe something else?
According to a study published in the journal Pediatrics, an average of 1 in every 5 people has
engaged in some form of non¬ suicidal self¬ injury, including but not limited to cutting,
burning, hair pulling and punching (Domanick). Apparently self harm isn t as uncommon we had

Along The River During The Qingming Festival Analysis
When mentioning Along the River During the Qingming Festival, most people will immediately
think of the version by the Song dynasty artist Zhang Zeduan, which is undeniably the earliest and
most well known version. There are many copies and variations of this work, including a painting
by the Ming dynasty artist Qiu Ying, which is also called Along the River During the Qingming
Festival. Although the artist uses the same title, this painting has its own beauty and connotative
meanings that cannot be ignored and which people need to discover and appreciate. Zhang Zeduan

happiness and fulfillment of the area. Tan s structure demonstrates the opposite, he sees the area as

the scene as (his) kin, the Kiowas. He exemplifies the scene as a solitary glade (that) climbs out of

Censorship In Alaskan Culture
A culture discussed in class that had interesting difference to American culture was Alaskan
storytelling where the stressed importance was the relationship of the storyteller to the listener or
audience. I imagined Alaskan populations spread out all over the large state, thus, my amazement
that the oral tradition of storytellingwere used with great significance to pass on information,
emphasize morals, and describe the cultureto new generations.
A difference that was a surprise was that the children listening to these stories in the Alaskan
culture were never allowed to interrupt the storyteller, where most children in America are more
boisterous and do not have the same level of respect to always sit quietly. However, a similarity

Human immunodeficiency virus is a retrovirus that affects the T cells specifically to the immune

its process. ( T Cell ) In step one, the entry of the virusrequires certain receptors from the host cell
such as a CD4. In addition, these receptors are composed of two glycoproteins that are embedded
in the viral envelope. ( Kestens, P. ) By approaching the target, the cells of a gp120 connects to the
CD4 receptors and the transmembrane gp41 is capable of transferring its information into the cell
membrane. Uniquely, this process creates a pathway for the virus to fuse with the host cell. When
it enters the cell it breaks open and releasing two viral RNA strands and three essential replication

Themes of Blackberry Picking by Seamus Heaney Essay
Blackberry picking by Seamus Heaney is about time, gluttony, limitations of life, and to some
extent, the struggles of life. Heaney writes retrospectively about his life, with hindsight, about how
he as a child, would go blackberry picking during a particular time of year.
Throughout the poem and particularly in the first stanza, Heaney uses a wide range of literary
devices such as intense imagery or sensory imagery, exceptionally meaningful metaphors and
alliteration.
Alliteration is used quite often in the poem. Throughout the whole poem, there is a frequent
repetition of b words, such as big dark blobs burned . In the readers mind, this creates a more
powerful image of the berries, and gives a strong impression of their shape ... Show more content on

craves for all year long.
During and after filling up their cans, it is clear that the pace of the poem become is not fast, but
is not slow either, rather it is in the middle. This is evident as they trekked and picked until the
cans were full, . Trekked suggests that they wandered around the round hayfields, cornfields and
potato drills until they filled up their cans.
Heaney then says Our hands were peppered, with thorn pricks, our palms sticky as Bluebeard s .
He uses another simile by comparing their palms to that of Bluebeards, a well known murderer in
some well known fairy tales. He used to murder his wives with his own hands, as a result, his
hands would ve been covered by blood. Therefore, after picking so many berries, their hands would
be sticky from blackberries rather than blood.
After picking the berries, there hopes were really high hoarded , meaning to store with excitement,
they had their hopes up, but suddenly, after they filled the bath with blackberries, they found their
treasure to be infested with rat gray fungus , which put their hopes back down again.

Currently, the NBM is in the process of creating a collecting plan to strengthen their collections as
well as turn away items not fitting within the scope of the plan. Many museums in the past
collected without regard to the future which creates havoc on contemporary museum

when the NBM is offered items there is a quarterly collections committee who deliberate on the
decision. The committee includes curators, registrars, directors, and preparators. Once the objects

outlined in their collections management policy and are updated regularly as is considered

Charles Le Brun s Influence on the Palace of Versailles
Charles Le Brun, a renowned 17th century artist politician lived between 1619 and 1690. He
gained prominence through his impeccable paintings, coupled with his mastery of creation in the
architecture of gardens, buildings, and in sculptures. Le Brun drew his inspiration from
Michelangelo, which expanded his horizons by creating sculptures and architecture, alongside
painting. As one of the dominant artists in France, Le Brun put immense value on visual
expression in an era of expressionism. He is responsible for the decoration in the Palace of Versailles
, Hesselin, and Vaux. In fact, Le Brun designed almost every decorative detail in the Palace of
Versailles, which included decorations, artwork, and landscape. Built for King Louis XIV, the
Palace of Versailles is an elaborate, magnificent representation of French Baroque architecture,
and it is one of the most famous royal chateaus in France. The scale of its decoration comprises
of the rhythmic repetition of large windows expressing core values of Baroque art. According to
Baroque architecture, buildings required a focal point, and within the interior of the Palace of
Versailles, the point of focus is the King s bed. Palace of Versailles is a perfect example of how

Similarities Between Karl Marx And Adam Smith
The 21st century is seen as the century of rapid change, innovative technology and immense
knowledge. But how did we get to this point? A look back to Britain in the late 1700s shows the
start of the Industrial Revolution, a time of shifting from man power to machines, and
improvements in transportation, as well as increased volume and variety of manufactured goods.
In the midst of all this change, two men took their own views and shared them with the world.
Adam Smith and Karl Marx argued on their thoughts about capitalism and what kind of world it
created, the origins of the Industrial Revolution, and the influences of division of labour. Many of
those thoughts were based upon similarities in each point, but Smith had more of an economic
view in the way of national wealth, while Marx held a social view for personal wealth of
individuals. The two men tell of their opinion of this economic change through their work and now
are seen as some of the biggest influences on the views of the Industrial Revolution and today s
world economy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Smith, who was born in 1723, liked the idea of a capitalist world. He voiced that opinion in 1776
when he published the book, The Wealth of Nations. Smith liked the idea of capitalism in the
Industrial Revolution because he argued that it was good for building up the national wealth of the
country. With manufacturing companies being owned privately that meant lower wages and higher
production rates, which would create a greater profit for the entire country as a whole. Capitalism
was the theory that people should be able to own production without the government being
involved. Through his thinking, private business enterprises were allowed to develop with the sole
motive of gaining profit. Karl Marx on the other hand had a different

The stigma towards HIV positive African American women also exists within their own
communities; unfortunately, this stigma towards these women does not encourage them to come
out as HIV positive individuals. The problem with this fear is that it not only worsens the anguish
for the sick individual, but also puts the people around the individual at risk. In Social Context of
Rural Women with HIV/AIDS, authors Kenneth D. Phillips, Linda Moneyham, Sandra P. Thomas,
Mary Gunther, Medha Vyavaharkar discuss the significance of the stigma felt by HIV positive
women; the authors point out that the existing stigma causes these women to live in secret (2011).
In order to keep their illness hidden, they would have to be maintain some form of normalcy with
the people around them. Societal stigma plays an important role in the occurrence of HIV; it can
be studied by examining the results of stigma reduction in African American communities (Loutfy
et al, 2015). HIV stigma reduction is difficult when dealing with African American women
because the stigma of sexism and racism cannot be ignored. One of the other effects of stigma is
depression (Logie, James, Tharao, Loutfy, 2012). In a multi method community based research
(CBR) study with Women s Health in Women s Hands (WLWH) across Ontario, researchers also

Depression In William Wordsworth
I have been seeing three new patients recently, all Romantic poets who appear to be suffering
from various levels of melancholy. Although each one of these poets is highly successful and
influential in the Romantic Movement, each has experienced bouts of dejection, loneliness, and
disillusionment with reality. However, this melancholy seems different from cases I have
encountered in the past. Strangely, none of these clients show symptoms of the excessive black
bile that typically associated with melancholy such as apathy, lack of motivation, and
hopelessness (Brady, Haapala). In fact, while all of these clients experience melancholic
thoughts, these emotions appear to be more complex than depression as they allow the
pleasures of deep reflection and often lead to feelings of sublime joy and inspiration. Instead of
suffering from a clinical form of melancholy or depression, these clients appear to be
experiencing a complex emotion of joypain which they believe has the capacity to reveal the
infinite powers of the self or the imagination (Murray, 722). Yet, while all of these poets seem to
believe in the importance of melancholy as inspiration for their work, each of these poets also
seems to express this emotion in different ways. While one of these poets, Mr. William Wordsworth
,
often turns his negative ruminations into positive reflections on nature and memory, Mr. Coleridge
instead experiences deeper melancholic moments that he cannot dispel quite so easily. Mr. John

The Disney Version Of Cinderella And The Grimm Brothers Story
Many people believe that all versions of a fairytale are all the same, unfortunately they are wrong
and these stories have vast differences just like in Pinocchio film from Disney where Jiminy
Cricket and Pinocchio are friends but, in an Italian version Pinocchio kills Jiminy Cricket with a
hammer. Another example of this is the story Cinderella. Cinderella is an iconic fairytale known
very well around the world. The three adaptations that will be specifically looked at are the Little
Golden Book Cinderella, the Grimm Brothers Cinderella , and the 2015 Disney version of
Cinderella. The three adaptations of Cinderella may have many coinciding ideas but they also come
alive through their variations, which include; the theme which drives the plot, the circle archetype,
and the perception of the villainous Stepmother.
As explained in the paragraph above there are subtle and large differences in each tale, one of
the bigger differences and more noticeable changes among each version is theme. Theme is the
subject or moral in a piece of writing, film, or work of art. The version with the most change is
the Grimm Brothers story. Being known for their horrid stories the theme of this version is what

The Violets Gwen Harwood Analysis
The Violets by Gwen Harwood was written during the late 1960s and was published in the

universal ideas. Harwood herself says My themes are old ones of love, memory, experience etc , all
of which are explored in this poem through the use of poetic and language techniques.
Literally, the persona of the poem is outside when some aspects of the nature around her, like
violets and a blackbird, trigger a memory from her childhood. The poem then flashbacks to a

The memories in the poem maintain a cohesiveness and continuity of experience through
repeated motifs such as the violets and the whistling . Memories also give us a recovered sense
of life, as shown through the final line of the poem faint scent of violets drifts in air . This
example of sensory imagery also creates a rhythmic drifting sense linked closely to the stone
curlews call from Kedron Brook . It echoes images of the speaker s mind drifting into reflection and
aurally creates transience between the present and the past.
Childhood is portrayed as a time of safety that is often looked back upon with nostalgia from an
adult perspective. Monosyllabic words are used to show the simplicity of childhood life, for
example in the line the thing I could not grasp or name . The spring violets are in their loamy
bed and are no longer frail and melancholy, and the memory takes place on a hot afternoon in
contrast to the cold dusk that represents the present. Childhood is represented as a joyful,
vivacious time in one s life, and the value of a stable family life is conveyed. The unexpected
integration of Australian vernacular in the line it will soon be night, you goose , adds a sense of
freedom and relaxation to the otherwise formal discourse and more rigid structure of the poem,
once again reflects the simplicity and innocence that is associated with childhood. The use of

80% water and 70% protein. Fat makes up anywhere from 1 to 17 percent. The body divided into
100 segments. These segments contain a pair of metanephridia, which drain the adjacent anterior
segments. The bristles help the earthworm hold its ground when trying to be pulled from its
burrow. For instance, a bird pulls off 6 to 7 segments; therefore new segments will grow back.
Earthworms are invertebrates, which mean they have no backbone. The mucus on the body helps
the worm travel through their burrow smoothly. As the earthworm travels underground the mucus
holds the dirt from collapsing on the worm.

Stereotypes Of Dehumanization In Orientalism
In literary theory, the process of othering is the portrayal or categorization of another person or
group of people as clearly different from the writer s or speaker s own group often with hints of
dehumanization. The word Othering initiates in Edward Said s persuasive book Orientalism
(1978), and theorists often capitalize the term as Othering, and they do likewise with corresponding
terms like the Other, and Otherness. It is a key concept in many fields: postcolonialism, psychology,
sociology, and anthropology. Said s book Orientalism shows the narrow mindedness of western
scholars and nurtures a substantial challenge to those scholars who deliberately write in stereotyped
and dehumanizing ways about the East in order to build an imaginary costume made Other .
According to him, the west intended to create this distinction to highlight and emphasis the
superiority of the western identity over the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aunt Chloe, Dinah and Mammy are assembled as mammies, the perfect servant. The mammy
stereotype is one of the most famous stereotypes about slave women in the United States. The
mammy was depicted as a satisfied slave: overweight, overbearing, coarse, and asexual, with
special stress on their ability to bear the labour and the suffering. Each one of the previously
mentioned books discussed the other from a different aspect, which brings us to my chosen
novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee in which she inspects the various scopes of
discrimination, hatred and defence and that is narrated through the eyes of a young girl named
Scout. Lee has written and published many novels during her time. Some of her major literary
works are Charismas to me and love In other words, which were published in 1961, when children
discover America in 1965 and the last one of them is Go Set a Watchman 2015 Setting and

WHCL Issues
To: Partner
From: Chartered Professional Accountant
Date: 20X6 20X7
Re: WHCL Issues Summary of Company/Issues To begin, Warmth Home Comfort Limited is a
Canadian manufacturer of furnaces and air conditioning units. The company acquired 15 investors
eight years ago, three of which are senior managers, and Mr. Kovacs, who is president and CEO.
Recently, they have been struggling with an increase in competition overseas, and WHCL is
considering going public. Yesterday, I had visited WHCL and met with key personnel to discuss the
forthcoming audit engagement and obtained the following information from the previous
statements: $300,000 was loaned to WHCL with the restrictions of: maintaining a current ratio of
1.2 or higher, and the debt to equity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would be included in 20X8, as stated by management and only effect that time, which may be
irrelevant for 20X7. In this case, WHCL would make this a transfer of gain or loss to the lessee or
purchasee, thus allowing WHCL to record revenues, ultimately, lowering its ratios, thus, reducing
the chances for a penalty to occur. But, if the initial date and end date are long term, this lease,
called a finance lease, would not suffice unless payment was guaranteed. Lastly, management spoke
about it covering maintenance at no cost until the date of purchase, this is fine with WHCL as they
can accurately determine their needed expenses for this agreement, but should not take this issue
lightly, as it make cause this company to become an ongoing concern.
Conclusion/Results of Investigation
In the end, WHCL needs to have better standards in place, they may not meet the requirements set
out for them in the loan, and may be penalized if such thing occurs. In the case that they do violate
the terms, the loan may be demanded back. WHCL then may also not receive any funding from
others, due to the fact that they may be an issue for others, with regards to repayment and other
requirement

Death Comes Swift Essay
Death comes swift. I lied awake in bed, unsure of what would happen to me now that Nan was
dead. She was all I had for the last 16 years, and while she wasn t accepting of who, what, I am... I
know she still had some love for me. My thoughts swirled in my head much as they had for the
past week: where will I go? , What if they find out about me? , What if I am discovered? I knew
from my grandmother that something terrible would happen if anyone discovered my... abilities.
By the age of nine I had been aloof and withdrawn in school, fearful that I might reveal myself to
someone. She forced me to church with her, begging the lord to extract my devil s gifts as she
called them. I had one saving grace with my abilities, she never... Show more content on

I rolled the cheap rental fabric of the sleeve between my fingers before walking to my dresser
and pulling out my underwear. I grabbed a pair of plain boxers from the front and looked down
at the boring pattern. Might as well be a little different I muttered, as i pulled the old drawer all
the way out, feeling around for the pair of fitted boxer briefs I had secretly gotten for myself.
The pale blue went well with my pale skin, the spunky girl at the store said so herself. It was one
of the few acts of rebellion I had done up to that point. I still remembered how nervous I was
going into the alternative store in the local mall, I shook as I looked at all the crude jokes and
sexual things inside. She came up out of nowhere and asked if I needed any help. I stammered
out No, I I m alright thanks. She must have known I was nervous because she just smirked and
said Here let s find you a souvenir. I only nodded and followed her around the store as she asked me
about what I liked, what I was into, etc. I couldn t help but stair at her amazingly colored hair, it
shimmered in the dim light like a peacocks feathers; radiating out from a vibrant green, to blue,
and purple. As we passed by the sexy underwear section of the story, my eyes landed on the pair of
underwear. Right away she noticed and said Great choice! I bet he ll love them with a wink. I
clammed up as soon as she said he , and of

  • 2. Analysis Of The California Reentry Institute ( Cri ) I had the honor to have a face to face interview with Collette Carroll. Collette is part of a team of the California Reentry Institute (CRI) which is a pre and post releases program those offenders within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation which is located in San Quentin State Prison. The California reentry program was developed in 2008; the Department of Correction realized offenders being released from prison should have the opportunity to attend a pre and post release program. The reentry program is a volunteer program to the offenders. The pre release program is an 18 24 month weekly program ran by an experienced team with strong curriculum which is designed to provide insight, life skill, education and a comprehensive individual case management. The post release is provided once the offender has graduated from prerelease program and the offender is released from prison. A significant part of the new painting seen in Manhattan doesn t climb so high. It s generally a gifted however doomed repeat. Four decades back, execution workmanship was an option to painting. It was offbeat and clunky, past innovation, or perhaps unreasonably underneath it, intended to reflect a world in which materials were transient, models pointless, values tricky. A ton of late execution workmanship in New York, especially that in the biennial celebration Performa, has had very nearly the inverse properties: It s cleaned, bundled, pricey, storehouse primed. • 7. Disadvantages Of Budgeting Budgeting performance provides as a basis for judging actual results because the inefficiencies of past performance can be eliminated or adjusted in the budget. Another reason is that future conditions (such as changes in technology, products, personnel and competition) may differ from the past conditions and this can be adequately factored in the budget. Budgeting defines expectations thus ensuring the most suitable model for future performance. These are financial plans for future which explains allocations for revenue. Along with estimating future sales, budgets have limits for expenses, such as payroll, rent, utilities, supplies, advertising, insurance and taxes. Motivational considerations help reduce employee feelings of ill will, disrespect of the budget process, and alienation from management. For example, participation in the budget process encourages adherence to the budget, self pride, internalization of the budgeted numbers and loyalty to the organization. It also signals that management is committed to supporting the budget in addition to simply preparing the budget. Ways to use budgets to motivate employees include: 1. Communicate to employees the importance of the budget. 2. Encourage employee participation in all aspects of the budgeting process. 3. Real Time Pcr Detection Of Hiv Viral Load Real time PCR detection of HIV viral load Introduction: HIV, the Human Immunodeficiency Virus is a lentivirus which is responsible for HIV infection and eventually causes AIDS. It s assumed that the virus has been in existence since 1930 but it s still unclear that how the virus came into existence. There are two kinds of HIV virus, HIV 1 which causes more severe disease and the source of transmission is a chimpanzee species Pan troglodytes whereas HIV 2 is transmitted by Cercocebus atys, a monkey found in West Africa (Norris, 2011). HIV binds to the CD4+ T cells because it needs CD4+ receptor to penetrate into cells. The virus transcribes its RNA into cDNA and then integrates its DNA into the host DNA and replicates further. It uses the DNA of CD4+ T lymphocytes and eventually ends up destroying them (Roberts, 2008). Once it weakens the immune system, the body becomes vulnerable to various diseases and is exposed to life threatening diseases known as opportunistic infections. A population of over 35 million people have HIV/AIDS and Sub Saharan Africa constitutes half of the population (AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY, 2014). Figure 1. • 14. Functionalism And Its Impact On Society In this paper I will explain and argue for Functionalism. Functionalism allows for a scientific approach to the mind body problem, while maintaining the integrity of mental and physical states and attributing them to the functional roles they play within the bodily system. The main argument for Functionalism is founded on the basis that it fulfills all of the requirements for an effective form of Physicalism. 1. In order for a physicalist argument to be effective: it must account for mental states being defined by their role; allow for mental and functional types to be defined circularly/holistically; and allow mental states to be realized in a multitude of outcomes. Functionalism sufficiently ensures all of these predicates. Functionalism is an adequate form of physicalism. Like other arguments for physicalism, functionalism is based on the notion that everything that exists in reality is physical in form. One of the main distinctions that makes the functionalist approach unique is its method of defining objects. For example, many simple things are defined by what they re made of, such as gold is simply Au. However more complex things are defined in terms of what their functions are. A heart is defined as an object that pumps blood around an organism s body, regardless of what it is made of. We cannot define a heart as something that is made of organic cardiac muscle, has valves, contracts, etc. because theoretically, those components could be slapped together ... As a source of inflammatory factors in CNS, astrocytes may lead to neurotoxic damage by generating chronic self sustaining inflammatory reactions (Griffin et al., 1998; Paradisi et al., 2004). However, a recent randomized clinical trial found inhibiting the inflammatory responses with anti inflammatory drugs failed to improve cognitive function in elderly individuals with a family history of AD (Group et al., 2008), which implies inflammation may not be the only mechanism by which astrocytes contribute to the pathogenesis of AD. In spite of, lowering the immunity of humans and claiming the lives of many people around world. H.I.V replication is a multi stage process and every step is necessary to complete its process. ( T Cell ) In step one, the entry of the virusrequires certain receptors from the host cell such as a CD4. In addition, these receptors are composed of two glycoproteins that are embedded in the viral envelope. ( Kestens, P. ) By approaching the target, the cells of a gp120 connects to the CD4 receptors and the transmembrane gp41 is capable of transferring its information into the cell membrane. Uniquely, this process creates a pathway for the virus to fuse with the host cell. • 25. Themes of Blackberry Picking by Seamus Heaney Essay Blackberry picking by Seamus Heaney is about time, gluttony, limitations of life, and to some extent, the struggles of life. Heaney writes retrospectively about his life, with hindsight, about how he as a child, would go blackberry picking during a particular time of year. Throughout the poem and particularly in the first stanza, Heaney uses a wide range of literary devices such as intense imagery or sensory imagery, exceptionally meaningful metaphors and alliteration. Alliteration is used quite often in the poem. Throughout the whole poem, there is a frequent repetition of b words, such as big dark blobs burned . He uses another simile by comparing their palms to that of Bluebeards, a well known murderer in some well known fairy tales. He used to murder his wives with his own hands, as a result, his hands would ve been covered by blood. Therefore, after picking so many berries, their hands would be sticky from blackberries rather than blood. A look back to Britain in the late 1700s shows the start of the Industrial Revolution, a time of shifting from man power to machines, and improvements in transportation, as well as increased volume and variety of manufactured goods. In the midst of all this change, two men took their own views and shared them with the world. Adam Smith and Karl Marx argued on their thoughts about capitalism and what kind of world it created, the origins of the Industrial Revolution, and the influences of division of labour. Many of those thoughts were based upon similarities in each point, but Smith had more of an economic view in the way of national wealth, while Marx held a social view for personal wealth of individuals. In Social Context of Rural Women with HIV/AIDS, authors Kenneth D. Phillips, Linda Moneyham, Sandra P. • 35. Depression In William Wordsworth I have been seeing three new patients recently, all Romantic poets who appear to be suffering from various levels of melancholy. Although each one of these poets is highly successful and influential in the Romantic Movement, each has experienced bouts of dejection, loneliness, and disillusionment with reality. However, this melancholy seems different from cases I have encountered in the past. Strangely, none of these clients show symptoms of the excessive black bile that typically associated with melancholy such as apathy, lack of motivation, and hopelessness (Brady, Haapala). In fact, while all of these clients experience melancholic thoughts, these emotions appear to be more complex than depression as they allow the pleasures of deep reflection and often lead to feelings of sublime joy and inspiration. Instead of suffering from a clinical form of melancholy or depression, these clients appear to be experiencing a complex emotion of joypain which they believe has the capacity to reveal the infinite powers of the self or the imagination (Murray, 722). Yet, while all of these poets seem to believe in the importance of melancholy as inspiration for their work, each of these poets also seems to express this emotion in different ways. While one of these poets, Mr. William Wordsworth , often turns his negative ruminations into positive reflections on nature and memory, Mr. Coleridge instead experiences deeper melancholic moments that he cannot dispel quite so easily.
