Resilience Across Lifespan
Resilience across a lifespan can happen different ways from physical development to cognitive
development. We also have social and emotional development. Throughout this paper resilience will
be applied to all of the above mentioned concepts. Resilience across a lifespan is described through
theories, measures, and even personality characteristics. Resilience has also been applied to the
impacts of disasters and traumatic experiences in which will also be touched on throughout this paper.
Resilience is described as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy,
threats, or significant sources of stress (American Psychological Association, 2016). Resilience is an
ordinary thing in human beings. It is often described as bouncing back, which refers to bouncing back
from difficult times or situations. As a person grows older resilience grows as well. A person s past
can most certainly affect how a person uses resiliency in the present. If a person is not affected
negatively a lot in their past when it comes time for a person to bounce back, they will not bounce
back as smoothly as a person who has had a very traumatic past and has learned how to bounce back
in a smoother fashion. A person s past determines their resiliency in the present and a person s present
determines their resiliency efforts in the future. Resiliency is different for each and every person.
Resiliency also can grow with a person or can dissipate

Progressive Education Essay
John Keating, a student at Welton Academy inspired his fellow classmates, to meet in caves and read
challenging poetry of the past, not with flashcards, but with these words, Now, my class, you will
learn to think for yourselves again. You will learn to savor words and language. No matter what
anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world. Typically, students do not hear enough of
this type of passion in a traditional classroom. However, a progressive classroom, be it a cave or
college can inspire students to memorize facts, not because they have to, but rather because they want
to for the betterment of humanity. Society desperately needs students educated in a progressive style
because America needs students who realize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Educational philosopher, Marie Montessori was a strong advocate for such learning, particularly for
children under age three who have a strong interest in learning through the use of movement and
verbal play (So what s Montessori and Piaget?).
John Dewey, another educational philosopher believed Education is a social process. Education is
growth. Education is, not a preparation for life; education is life itself. (Inc.) He felt that learning took
place only when students had internalized what they had gained through experience and practiced it in
their own lives. In a progressive classroom, the teacher designs experiences for students with the idea
that through experience, students build knowledge and skills. A society of individuals conforming to
studying flashcards may be good, but a society of literate individuals consciously aware of why and
how the facts on the flashcards and in mass media can solve new problems is better.
A progressive classroom looks different, and a progressive teacher inspires unique thinking in
individual students differently, as well. Instead of being strict with a set curriculum and specific
subject to cover, teachers find their students present interests, abilities, and needs. Developing

Traver Creek Reflective Essay
Hello, I am Madeline Mercier. I m a freshman at Community High School, I am currently in the
Foundations of Science Course 1. Within this course, my classmates and I evaluated, tested and
reviewed the health of sections 0 1050 ft of Traver Creek. Specifically gathering data on the Benthic
populations, as well as their Taxa. The class of 2016 took detailed descriptions of the physical
appearance of the creek and surrounding areas. We even tested the water to find necessary information
on the health of the creek through our chemical tests. According to the 2016 Traver Creek Data of
Sections 0 1050 ft Traver Creek is unhealthy. Averages of Traver Creek compared to the best site

Bank Erosion is at 2.3 out of 4, this proves that the sections banks are getting eroded with particles
dissolving into the waters. Traver Creeks Habitat Diversity grade is 2.5/4, specifically this states that
in some areas the vegetation is less diverse and cannot absorb harmful chemicals before they get to the
creek. These chemicals could harm the organisms greatly in the Creek. Embeddedness which
displaces many organisms by removing their natural habitat, is at 2.7/4. This is strips many organisms
of their grounds and nests as is becomes more and more scarce. The flow rate is at 2.22 ft/s this is a
safe speed for the Creek it s not too fast that organisms get flushed downstream and it s not too slow
that the organisms will suffocate. Once again, but more importantly buffers need to be set in place to
stop runoff from getting into the Creek to prevent high bank erosion and

Essay On Social Entrepreneur
Introduction
Entrepreneurs support economic activity and growth entrepreneurial process requires capabilities,
such as skills, decision making and business acumen technology entrepreneurs: the danger is having
exclusive focus on the product or service without due consideration to whether it addresses a real
market problem with customers who would be willing to pay for it.
Schumpeter (1965): individuals who exploit market opportunity through technical and/or organization

Social entrepreneurship is not new, but phenomenon blossomed over the past 20 or so years. Exact
figures for the number of social entrepreneur are difficult to verify, but estimates number in tens of

Definition
Generally, put, an innovation is developing a new idea and putting it into practice. As this article is
focused on the competitive strategy of a private enterprise in a market driven business environment,
the term innovation is used here to refer to the process of bringing valuable new products (goods and
services) to market i.e., from the idea/concept formulation stage to the successful launching of a new
or improved product in the marketplace, or the result of that process, to meet the explicit or implied
needs of current or potential customers. In other words, through innovation an enterprise seeks to

Communism In Latin America
Among the ways the United States tried to curb the spread of communism in Latin America, was
interfere in the inner policies of their countries. They were involving themselves in Nicaragua, El
Salvador, and Guatemala. They were trying to convince Latin America that it was in their best
interests to stay away from communist beliefs.
America was afraid that if communism spread to the neighboring countries it would eventually come
to the United States, so they felt it was their duty to prevent it from ever entering Latin America, to nip
it in the bud . If they succeeded in stopping the advancement of communism to Latin America, they
would not have to worry about communism spreading throughout the world.
Of course their fear of communism was only a precursor to the real reason America was tangling in
the other nation s affairs. America also believed Latin American dictators were very soft on
communism, and tried to get the leaders who they were comfortable with into power. The president of

TA: Camille English, Section 4
Rutgers University, Spring 2017
Laboratory 4 Recombination
Testing the Mode of Inheritance of Shaven Bristles in Drosophila Using FlyLab
Objectives The motivation of this lab report is to use Mendel s Laws of Inheritance to analyze and
predict the genotypes and phenotypes of an offspring generation (F2) after knowing the genotypes and
phenotypes of the parent generation (F1). The hypothesis for this experiment is that the mode of
inheritance for the shaven bristle allele in flies is autosomal recessive in both male and female flies.
The data generated with the Flylab software seemed to confirm the hypothesized mode of inheritance
for the phenotype of having the shaven bristles.
Methods
A computer program called FlyLab Software was used to simulate basic principles of genetic
inheritance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These numbers exhibit a 3:1 ratio of normal phenotype flies to affected phenotype flies.
The expected number of wild type flies in the F2 generation is 734.25 and the expected number of
shaven bristle flies in the F2 generation is 244.75. This, again, exhibits a 3:1 ratio of normal
phenotype to affected phenotype.
The expected and observed values were all computed on the FlyLab software.
The degree of freedom in this experiment was 3. The chi square value that was calculated was 1.4481.
The p value was 0.6943.
These values were all computed on the FlyLab software.
Since the p value of 0.6943 is greater than 0.05, the data is said to be statistically significant. This
means the null hypothesis is not rejected and the observed values meet the expected values.

A Functionalist View Of Religion
Religion is universal, but interpretations of the meaning of religions vary. There are several
philosophers who interpreted religion in different manners, three of them being Tylor, Frazer, and
Marx. Even though their ideals were different, they all three still held a general functionalist view on
religion that religion served the purpose to comfort or control humans. On the contrary to the
functionalist opinions of Tylor, Frazer, and Marx, my personal belief coincides mostly with that of
Rudolf Otto. I interpret religion as a great, unexplainable mystery (that may or may not have to do
with human function), and not solely the result of one s fears, one s intellect, or one s oppression. A
functionalist view of religion revolves around one treating religion as if it were a logical, human
operation that can be explained without spiritual connection, and Tylor, Frazer, and Marx all depend
on using functionality to explain religion. Tylor believed that people invented religion because they
feared death, and they wished to have peace of mind about the death of their ancestors. The fear that
sprouted from the unknown, according to Tylor s philosophy, was consoled by the creation of religion.
Frazer believed that religion progressed as people evolved into higher thinking creatures. Primitive
humans, according to Frazer, believed in Animism, which is the concept that everything has a soul and
is one with a god, whether it is a rock or a caterpillar. The next step of developing

Correlation Between The Salaries Of Working Men And Women
Wage differentials in the organization
Although women have made rapid gains in their level of labor market activity, they have made much
less progress in attaining wage parity with men(Smith and Ward 1989). That the career experiences
and advancement of women is different from those of men has been documented across many
professional areas, with most studies finding that men advance faster, further, and with greater
compensation (e.g. Cohen Gutek 1991,Jagacinski et al 1987,Morgan et al 1993, Schneer Reitman
1995). Research has consistently found significant disparities between the salaries of working men
and women (e.g. Corzine et al 1994, Stroh et al 1992).Often these differences are found even when
controlling for education, age, experience, and performance (e.g. Cox Harquail 1991). To explain these
salary differences, researchers have considered the influence of multiple roles.Apparently the number
of roles may interact with sex, so that marriage and parenthood is associated with higher salaries for
men but lower salaries for women (e.g. Cooney Uhlenberg 1991). Another hypothesis is that the
gender wage gap is due to women s disinclination to negotiate over salary; however, empirical
evidence fails to support this notion (Gerhart Rynes 1991). Finally,a number of researchers have
studied the relationship between job evaluations and gender type of jobs, arguing that bias in job
evaluations explains the lower salaries associated with female typed jobs (e.g. Mount

Biography of Ernest Miller Hemingway Essay
Biography of Ernest Miller Hemingway
Ernest Miller Hemingway was an American novelist, journalist, writer of short stories, and winner of
the 1954 Nobel Prize for literature. He created a distinguished body of prose fiction, much of it based
on adventurous life. He was born on July 21, 1899, the second of six children, in Oak Park, Ill., in a
house built by his widowed grandfather, Ernest Hall. Oak Park was a Protestant, upper middle class
suburb of Chicago. He died on July 2, 1961.
Early Years Hemingway stated in Green Hills of Africa that civil war is the best war for a writer. Both
of his grandfathers fought in the Civil War and the family was proud of its military traditions. The

His father was a strict disciplinarian while Grace was more permissive. She saw that her children had
music lessons and were exposed to the arts. Ernest never had a knack for music and suffered through
choir practices and cello lessons. The gift of the doctor to his children was a knowledge and love of
nature. He taught Ernest how to build fires and cook in the open, how to use and ax to build a shelter,
how to make fishing flies, how to make bullets, and how to handle fishing gear and guns. He also
taught them how to prepare small animals for mounting and how to dress and cook game. Ernest
inherited the temperament and artistic talent of mother and the looks and sporting skills of his father.
Both parents, when he was a boy, were foes of dirt and disorder. They brought up their children to
follow strict schedules, stand inspection and be scrupulously neat and tidy. Ernest went to high school
in Oak Park where he enjoyed writing for the school s literary magazine, reporting for the school s
weekly newspaper called The Trapeze. He was mediocre at sports, playing football, swimming, water
basketball and serving as the track team manager. Upon graduation in 1917, he was faced with three
choices: college, war, or work. His father wanted him to go to college and be a doctor, but he rejected
that; he was not in any hurry to go to war, and a job with the Kansas City Star wouldn t open until
October, so he spent the summer on the farm in Michigan. In

Public Policy of Social Security and Retirement Savings Essay
Social Security is on the verge of taking care of the baby boomers generation. This means that it will
be paying more benefits than taxes it receives. In lay man s terms it means it will be spending more
money than it is making. I think that you should pay into your own private retirement account for you
to reap the benefits in the future. Not for you to pay into a cluster of workers money for current elders
to benefit from. You need to take care of your own future and not rely on other people s responsibility.

Back in 1950, as the baby boom was just getting started, each retiree s benefit was divided among 16
workers. Taxes could be kept low. Today, that number has dropped to 3.3 workers per retiree, and by
2025, it will reach and remain at about two workers per retiree (Social Security Reform Center
Problem). The number of workers for each beneficiary dropped from 5.1 in 1960 to 3.3 in 2006. This
is expected to decrease to 2.1 by 2030 (Klay Steen). Baby boomers are going to retire and Social
Security begins to spend more on paying benefits than it receives in taxes in 2017 or 2018 (Social
Security Reform Center Problem). This means Social Security will begin to handle very large funding
problems because of the amount of people retiring and the worker/beneficiary ratio falling. This is
caused by the increase of the payroll tax 17 times since 1935 (Epstein). Currently Social Security is
not having any issues with payments. It lifts 1.3 million children and almost 13 million senior citizens
out of poverty (Merino). The other side of the problem though is fairness. For example, you give
someone $20 every month to save until the end of the year for you, but until then they can lend out
that money and use it how they want until the end of the year. At the end of the year you might have
your money or someone else s money.
This problem reaches all aspects of American life and its people. It affects the tax

Using Art For A Message
Hannah Tierney
18 November 2016
Using Art to Send a Message
For centuries people have used art as a way to express the political views, or used artistic movements
to express certain ideals. This can be seen in the idealized art of the Ancient Greeks, who strived to
perfect the balance between man and nature, and portray harmony, balance, and democracy. In Nazi
Germany, Hitler showcased art that was un German, anything reflecting Jewish or communist
ideology, was displayed in the Degenerate art show. This movement was used as propaganda; Hitler
showed the public all the art that was not German. Today, many artists mock the commercialization of
the art world and society itself using pop art and othrr consumer trends in their work.
In Ancient Greece, philosophy and ideology shaped the views of the people living in the first
democratic state. The Greeks never established a single nation; instead, they lived in city states, and
democracy began in Polis, later known as Athens. In Athens, artists strived to perfect their work and
align it to the beliefs of the philosopher Pythagoras of Samos, who believed everything was based on
mathematics and purification . The Ancient Greeks used their art to promote political, military, and
religious ideology, depicting battle their victorious battles as though they were fought by the gods. The
art of Ancient Greece was centered around religion and perfecting the balance between man, nature,
and the divine.
This mentality led to the

Discuss the biological explanation for phobic disorders
Discuss issues of reliability and validity associated with the classification and diagnosis of phobic
disorders (24 marks)
The biological explanation for the acquisition of phobic disorders establishes that phobias are caused
by genetics, innate influences and the principles of biochemistry. This theory recognizes that an
oversensitive fear response may be inherited, causing abnormal levels of anxiety. This is illustrated in
the basis of inheritance, particularly the adrenergic theory that convicts that those who have an
acquisition to phobic disorders consequently show high levels of arousal in the automatic nervous
system, which leads to increased amounts of adrenaline, thus causing high levels of anxiety.
However this theory lacks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parallel to this, the focus on genetics is Particularly convicted in twin studies, which establish a
comparison between monozygotic twins that are identical and dizygotic twins, which are opposingly
non identical. This distinction can be identified in Torgersens study, which compared MZ and same
sex DZ twins where one proband had an anxiety disorder, and it was discovered that such disorders
were 5x more frequent in MZ twin pairs, who mutually shared identical genetics.
This theory creates an issue, as it only looks at nature s impact as the root cause of phobic disorders
and relishes in not accounting for environmental causes, which are posed by nurture. This aspect of
nurture which is ignored can be questioned in the twin studies as although Torgersen found that
identical twins who share genes are 5x more likely to share an anxiety disorder, it is unclear whether it
is the nature of the genetic makeup which causes the disorder, or the nurture of the twins, as they
would have both gone through the same things in their environment causing the contamination effect.
This is further highlighted through the diathesis stress model formed by Di nardo et al which provides

Inhumanity In The Blade Runner By Hampton Fincher And Humans
Blade Runner, the classic sci fi noir movie by Hampton Fincher and David Peoples, is a futuristic
perspective on slavery, humanity, and the rights of thinking beings. In the movie, Deckard, a blade
runner and the main character of the story, hunts down Nexus 6 replicants: androids imposed with
superhuman strength and nearly human intelligence who have gone rogue (2, 10). These androids are
given a four year lifespan to prevent them from developing human emotions which way throughout
the movie to further complicate the balance between androids and humans (6). Throughout the movie,
the line between humanity and inhumanity becomes thinner and better, causing problems for Deckard
and Tyrell Corporation. In its entirety, Blade Runner is attempting to get the audience to decide
whether replicants deserve the same freedom and rights as humans. To help the audience in their
decision, the movie proved information about the supposedly inhumane replicants and their human
creators.
In one of Deckard s first confrontations with a replicant in the movie, the replicant, Leon, refers to
himself and the other replicants as slaves , and they are not wrong (60). Similarly, to the n word used
during the times of slavery, Replicants are referred to as skin jobs , a seemingly derogatory term.
Despite their similarities to humans, they are still looked down upon and regarded by the word above

Sustainable Growth And Sustainable Development
Sustainable development. A concept that has only recently become highlighted and pursued by the
international community. In a country like Nigeria, there is focus on economic growth on the
sustaining of their people, not the interest of the environment, however this trend is beginning to
change as the country is moving toward a future of power from alternative sources, such as solar
power and wind power (Our Objectives, n.d.). Sustainable development, according to the Brundtland
Report, meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to the
meet their own needs. (IISD) The United Nations has been at the forefront of this drive for a more
sustainable, namely with the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which highlight
not only environmental aspects, but also societal (human right based) (e.g. No Poverty, focus on

The Constitutionality of Prayer in Public Schools Essay
Many people agree against prayer in public schools, while others think that people should be able to
express their religion in their own ways. In public schools, they are not allowed to hold prayers at all
during the school day due to the mixed religion students that are attending the school. Over the past
few years, this has become an extremely controversial issue in our nation. Many people find it proper
to pray in school but many people also agree that it is extremely wrong and that if there is going to be
pray in school, every religion should be addressed. The government cannot make a law about having a
certain religion banned or allowed in a school setting. Children are allowed to pray on their own time
as long as it does not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One major reason why prayer is not allowed in public schools is because people may find it offensive
to them if they do not belong to they religion that the prayer is being said in. This has been an ongoing
argument for many decades and it has not come to a conclusion yet. Everyone has their own beliefs
and usually they do not affect others unless they are directed towards someone of another religion. If
prayer is going to be formally present in public schools, that school should say a prayer in every
religion. They could do this by having someone of each religion in that school come up with a new
prayer each day. Another thing they could do is have a special prayer for each religion present whether
it s a Catholic, Jewish, Islamic, or even Buddhist prayer. If you want your child to pray and learn a
religion in school, send them to a private school that follows a certain religion and that have certain
religious beliefs. A major reason why I m against prayer in public schools is because the public school
system is created for all students and is paid for by tax payers and fellow citizens. I think that the
public schooling system should remain neutral on religions issues die to the diversity of our students,
tax payers, and our fellow citizens. A public school is set up so that anyone on any religion or race can
obtain an education. There

Case Study Scouts Canada Essay
Question 1
Using the full spectrum of segmentation variables, describe how Scouts Canada could segment its
market place.
Scouts Canada is a Canadian organization; therefore the organizations segmentation strategy is
primarily geographic. The company focuses on the Canadian market, including all provinces and
territories of the country.
Based on what the organization wants to accomplish Scouts Canada should dedicate their marketing
strategies to study and segment the market based on demographics (age, family size, life cycle) and
psychographics.
Demographic Segmentation fragments the market into categories according to different demographic

promoting recycling, and other projects. To further promote their new image they published a simple
and effective scouts manual, detailing new information, as well as designing a new logo and bilingual
motto to appeal to the countries two official languages. Finally they fabricated new print
advertisements that highlighted health issues such as obesity, and quirky ads, which captured the
public interest.
Question 3
What steps did Scouts Canada take to reposition its offering?
An initial aspect that Scouts Canada has reconstructed is their experiences, with the hopes of
expanding their potential scout member range.
The case study stated that members would start when they were very young and lose interest after a
few years. So one of the things Scouts Canada had to do was find a way to retain them past those few
years. The reason why Scouts Canada faced its loss of potential members was because they failed to
understand their market segments. They could not tailor their product or membership so that it

Child Sexual Abuse In The United States
Introduction
Child sexual abuse (CSA) often goes unnoticed and many children will remain silent victims. It can be
very difficult for children to talk about, or even acknowledge that this form of abuse is occurring.
While there are rising numbers of child sexual abuse cases being reported within the United States, it
is disheartening to know that there are even more cases that go unrecognized each year. The American
Humane Association (2013) explains that According to the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data
System (NCANDS), an estimated 9.3 percent of confirmed or substantiated child abuse and neglect
cases in 2005 involved sexual abuse (U.S Department of Health and Human Services, 2007). This
figure translates into over 83,800 victims in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wolfe (1999) states Unlike physical abuse and neglect, sexual abuse has no connection to child
rearing, discipline, or inattention to developmental needs. Rather, it constitutes a breach of trust,
deception, intrusion, and exploitation of a child s innocence and status. (Finkelhor, 1995). Whereas all
types of maltreatment share a common ground in relation to the abuse of power by an adult over a
child, sexual abuse stands out from physical abuse and neglect in terms of these specific dynamics. (p.
10). Perpetrators of child sexual abuse are almost always known to a child, they are usually close
family members or friends and are often well known to a child. They can be anyone; fathers,
stepfathers, uncles, brothers, and non relatives including friends, neighbors, and even child care
workers. Child sexual abuse is usually committed more often by male perpetrators, whom are often
the child s father or father figure. In the end, children will suffer significant emotional and physical
consequences, which often last a

Comparing Different Ways of Supplying Water to Kenya
ASSIGNMENT TITLE: Write a report that compares two or three different ways to supply water in
this region. At the end of the report, make a recommendation of the best method of water provision.
1. Introduction Water is one of the vital substances on earth and according to Kreger (2004) Actually,
only 1% of the world s water is usable to us. About 97% is salty seawater, and 2% is frozen in glaciers
and polar ice caps. Thus that 1% of the world s water supply is a precious commodity necessary for
our survival. All humans on earth need water to survive. A human can go for weeks without food but

4.2 Desalination Desalination is the process in which excess salt water and other minerals are removed
from water to make it consumable (Rosadoi, Moraisii, 2010). This source of water is very expensive
to operate in rural areas of Kenya because the materials and running cost is on the high side. It has a
lot of environmental impact, positively it is an additional source of water supply and it helps to keep
the groundwater aquifers from going dry however the side effect of desalination is that it leads to the
emission of greenhouse gases, large production of concentrated brine, discharge of salt by product
which is harmful to people residing around. Water born diseases will be reduced drastically and also
creates job opportunities due to large industrial plants for processing. Source of steady electricity
power to make this plant work will be a major concern and a large number of inhabitants make lack
the technological knowledge to operate the desalination plants.

The Constitution was originally constructed as a document to unify a young nation, ensure rights, and
prevent one man from having too much power. In order for the Constitution to be ratified, it evaded

of the Constitution. As the nation as well as its dependency on slavery grew, the ambiguity of the
Constitution gave way to tension on three major issues between the abolitionist north and the pro

months. The compromise stated that Texas would surrender the disputed land claims and in return
would receive ten million dollars from the government to pay the debt owed to Mexico. The territories
of New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah would be created but with no mention as to their
preference towards being a free state or a slave state. Washington D.C. would discontinue slave trade,
but still allow the owning of slaves. California would be added as a free state, and to appease the slave
states, who would oppose the majority in Congress being free states, the Fugitive Slave Act was
added. The Fugitive Slave Act was the most divisive out of all the components of the Compromise of
1850. This act required all citizens to help return runaway slaves. The new law created a force of
federal commissioners given the power to follow the fugitive slave into any state and return them to
their owners. There was no limit meaning slaves who had been free many years could be returned.
Citizens who refused to help in the pursuit of the fugitives received time in prison as well as fines. The

including tales of these gods and goddesses who served a purpose of meaning the world and the
qualities of a good person. First, the history of Celtic Mythology traces back centuries ago. For
example, there is a long history of their people. At their height they were a large and diverse group
that was spread out all across Central Europe. After the Start of christianity however, the popularity or
Celtic went down. Also, scientists have discovered many different celtic villages. The Hallstatt village
in Austria is the oldest one of its kind ever found and many different celtic artifacts have been found
there. This is why the early stages of Celtic Mythology was known as the Hallstatt era. Another village
in Switzerland called La Tene also had many artifacts uncovered there and is also is why the second

The Fourth Dimension Of Hofstede s Paradigm
Uncertainty Avoidance Index The fourth dimension of Hofstede s paradigm understands how society
deals with the unknown. If a country has a low uncertainty avoidance they believe that whatever will
happen will happen. Low avoidance indicates that they do not have much control or want to have
much control on the future. In comparison a high uncertainty avoidance indicates that a country is
structured in a way to try as best as possible to be in control of the future. For instance, a high
avoidance society has made advanced plans to take into account resources needed in a natural disaster.
Spain scored an 86 for high uncertainty avoidance index. This means they have a set structure on
dealing with unplanned events. Belanche Gracia et al (2015) stated, More pragmatic cultures (like
Spain) tend to be more prepared for the future and value the present more than the past (p.281). This
clearly reiterates the implications that Spain has a high uncertainty avoidance and likes to keep society
under control and less stressful. Hofstede mentioned that, In a very recent survey 75% of Spanish
young people wanted to work in civil service (i.e. a job for life,) whereas in the USA only 17% of
young people would like it (The Hofstede Center). This study proves that the Spanish are concerned
with maintaining employment and being able to provide for themselves. Furthermore, this echoes the
results from the first dimension about power distance index. Spain was ranked higher than the

I Designed My Lesson Plan
a.) I designed my lesson plan to be used in first and second grade. This lesson plan was designed to be
a cross curriculum lesson about spiders that incorporates the following subject areas: Science,
Language Arts, and Visual/Performance Arts. This lesson will be taught during the month of October
after students have gained prior knowledge through an insect unit that was taught the month before.
(b.) The content object that I used in this lesson was for students to be able to identify important
information about spiders. I think that providing students with background knowledge prior (teaching
a month long unit on insects) would assist students when it comes time to do a unit on spiders. I think
that the most challenging aspect for this lesson would be the vocabulary words. The vocabulary list
that I have complied varies in difficulty and I believe that some of the words would be more
challenging to some of the students. I would ensure that these words were taught previously in the
insect unit in order for students to become familiar with these words. I would also have prior
knowledge of my student s abilities and provide individualized word lists that match the student s
ability. In addition, I would stock the student library with a variety of books about spiders that contain
the vocabulary words, and utilize various center activities to reinforce the lesson objectives for this
unit. The content object that I created is both measureable and observable and the

I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud by Wordsworth Essay
I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud by Wordsworth
Wordsworth takes readers on a reminiscent journey in I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud reflecting upon
visions of nature. The figurative language and diction used elucidate the poet s response to nature.
Wordsworth uses each stanza to share his experience in nature through the image of a dance that
culminates in the poet s emotional response.
Wordsworth opens with reference to himself through simile as a part of the natural landscape, I
wandered lonely as a cloud / That floats on high (Wordsworth, Line 1). The diction used in the
opening simile puts the reader in the poet s state of mind. A cloud is a lightweight, free flowing image.

Wordsworth continues to relay his experience in nature as he expounds upon the affiliation between
the daffodils and another natural element. Applying simile, the poet connects the flowers to the stars,
Continuous as the stars that shine / And twinkle on the milky way (7 8). A mental picture of infinite
flowers is created, while shine and twinkle produce an image of light. Wordsworth uses the light
imagery to link the two aspects of nature; the luminous stars of the night and golden daffodils of the
day. The link shows the reader the connection the poet sees in different facets of nature. The second
stanza continues the description of the dance Ten thousand saw I at a glance, / Tossing their heads in
sprightly dance (12). The image created is of large numbers of flowers moving in unison and
expresses the harmony the poet finds in nature. The usage of sprightly makes another reference to
light, but in the sense of movement and weight as cloud and floats were utilized in the first stanza.
Diction in the second stanza provides the reader with a multi dimensional prospective of Wordsworth
s imagery by giving the images action, feeling and weight.
Personifying another facet of nature, Wordsworth partners the daffodils in their dance, The waves
beside them danced, but they / Outdid the sparkling waves in glee (13 14). The lines also work to

Bourdieu s Concept Of Cultural Capital
The following essay will begin with key definitions from the title followed by Bourdieu s notion of
cultural capital . Cultural capital is defined as the idea and knowledge that people draw upon as they
participate in social life. Everything from rules of etiquette to being able to speak and write effectively
can be considered cultural capital (Crossman, 2015). The essay will commence by looking at the
autonomy of cultural capital and how Bourdieu has established new concepts to help understand
cultural capital. The notions Bourdieu invented, are habitus, capital and field aid him in creating an
original approach to explain among others, the existing social inequality present in society and the
perpetuation of this inequality. This essay will analyse Bourdieu s concepts and how he established
these concepts using Marx theory of capitalism. Literature from various established writers will be
presented when making an argument formerly reaching a conclusion. Pierre Bourdieu (1997:314)
argued that the success of an individual depended on their Cultural Capital. Bourdieu argued that
working class pupils lack cultural capital to achieve success in the education system. Bourdieu claims
that a major role of the education system is the social function of elimination. Material resources alone

Modern Societies And Its Impact On Society
Modern societies are described most effectively against the background of what came before them.
The process of modernity is reactive; it s meaning is derived by a comparison with, and by rejection or
negation of preceding agrarian and industrial societies. Traditional, or pre modern societies take as
their basic unit the community or the collective. The family constitutes production and consumption as
well as socialization, indicative of a rudimentary division of labour. Further, traditional societies
facilitate a worldview that is wholly comprehensive. Durkheim describes this as the collective
consciousness . People derive their outlook largely through the different ways that they interact with
society, and because these societies have high degrees of similarity, and a shared set of moral values
and beliefs, members experience the world in similar ways. In this contrasting view, modernization
can be viewed as a process of individualization, specialization and abstraction. In the structure of
modern society, the individual dominates the collective. The division of labour is complex. People
become alienated from the process of production as specialization increases and their occupations
become more specific, consequently disconnecting them from the products of their labour. Moreover,
modern societies facilitate a worldview that is abstract. While traditional societies are based on
similarity, modern societies are based on differences, thus differentiating the way

Texture is one of the crucial primitives in human vision and texture features have been used to identify

Moreover, texture can be used to describe contents of images, such as clouds, bricks, hair, etc. Both
identifying and describing characteristics of texture are accelerated when texture is integrated with
color, hence the details of the important features of image objects for human vision can be provided.
One crucial distinction between color and texture features is that color is a point, or pixel, property,

SHAPE
Shape is an important visual feature and it is one of the basic features used to describe image content.
However, shape representation and description is a difficult task. This is because when a 3 D real
world object is projected onto a 2 D image plane, one dimension of object information is lost. As a
result, the shape extracted from the image only partially represents the projected object. To make the
problem even more complex, shape is often corrupted with noise, defects, arbitrary distortion and
occlusion. Further it is not known what is important in shape. Current approaches have both positive
and negative attributes; computer graphics or mathematics use effective shape representation which is
unusable in shape recognition and vice versa. In spite of this, it is possible to find features common to
most shape description approaches Usually, Shape features can be extracted from an image by using
two kinds of methods: contour and regions. Contour based methods are normally used to extract the
boundary features of an object shape. Such methods completely ignore the important features inside
the boundaries. Region based image retrieval methods firstly apply segmentation

Effects Of Invasive Plants
The devastating effects of rangeland invasive plants have influencedeffect many natural resources, as
well as humans lives, without them knowing about it. The impacts of the invasion vary from place to

rangelands ( Basics of Invasive Species ). The resources that are gathered from rangelands are
affectedeffected by the invasive plant species, all of those effects become one great issue that humans
need to try and solve. Livestock is one of the major factors that are impacted by the introduction of
invasive plants. These unwanted plants impact grazing lands by lowering yield and quality of forage

and producing livestock, and reducing grazing land value (Techline News). All of these impacts are
the part of a larger ecological impact that can kill livestock, and other plants and animals living in that
area. All of these ecological issues create a big enough picture to see what is really going on when one
plant invades, the invasions hurt the environment and ecosystem.
Several financial impacts of these invasive rangeland plants, appear in the livestock market as well as
many other agricultural related markets; these losses affecteffect all consumers that would purchase or

We capture, contain, and control the very wildness of these animals, we so admire them for. We
decorate a large bucket of water, or a box of bars to resemble a shallow shadow of the wilderness they
should be in. These animals held captive in collective groups as a means to entertain us. We are
trading the wonder of nature, seen in it s own wilderness area for animal showmanship and

The lyrics show that Eva was searching for any clues to help her discern the actions and attitude of
Kevin. She found nothing to help her determine Kevin s attitude which was ironic to lyrics. Another
example of ironic use of music was during Eva s work Christmas party where Colin asks her to dance.
Eva shyly rejects the dance and Colin whispers an insult to her. The cheerful song Last Christmas by
Wham! is gradually increased in volume to rival Eva s hurt feelings. Ramsay s recurring use of music
in aims of ironically contrasting Eva s melancholic state, is clearly expressed to the

German Support of Nazi Rule
Looking back over the period of Nazi rule, this much can be said with a measure of certainty: German
society as a whole did not oppose the regime s anti Jewish initiatives. It is hard to believe that a whole
society for the most part could be influenced by one man and his rule. Hitler was a very charismatic
man who influenced thousands of Germans against their fellow German Jews. Many were friends,
neighbors, some could have even been family by marriage. The anti semitism took over the society
suddenly, laws were created against the Jews. Soon enough the anti semitism spread throughout
Europe. One may ask the question How can one man turn a whole nation against their own people?
Hitler used propaganda to influence the German ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather then letting the rule be in place, they stated that the government at the time was corrupt and of
course they would go against the Nazis (Cmarada 25). Eventually the ban was abolished and the Nazi
party was allowed to proceed with speeches and Nazi propaganda (Cmarada 25). Once the ban was
lifted, the Nazi party began to have rallies to spread the ideals of the party (Cmarada ). The rallies took
place when Germany was in their depression. This lead to more followers because they were in need
of some kind of light that would help them throughout this terrible time. Hitler created scapegoats for
why Germany had become in a depression, those scapegoats were the Jews (Cmarada 26 ).Hitler
promised that he would solve the nations problems, with that he won the support of the masses
(Cmarada 26). Hitler and the Nazis wanted to gain all the support they could, he wanted to address all
the classes which included, German workers, businessmen, middle class citizens, artisans, the
salesmen and shopkeepers, the Catholics, and the Bavarians (Cmarada 26). Hitler explained to each of
these constituencies that their problems had been caused by the Jews and by the system and that they
had two choices: resistance or death (Cmarada 26). On January 30, 1933, Hitler was named
Chancellor of Germany, which gave him complete control of the country. When Hitler came to power,
there was nothing other than the propaganda to be thankful for. His success was

Impact Of Convenience On Consumer Behavior
Impact of convenience in the mind of consumers in making purchase decisions in Australia
Introduction
There have been drastic changes in the Australian retailing landscape. Though Coles and Woolworths
are still the largest retailers, others like Aldi have made its way in increasing its market share. At the
same time, local convenience stores still continue to function throughout Australia. It indeed comes to
one s mind as to what are the factors that are contributing to such consumer behaviour; whether it is
some special skills of the local convenience stores or whether the prices offered are better (which
seems like a less possible scenario) or is it just the convenience of the stores being located nearby
which makes such model operational even in the wake of intense competition between the majors and
addition of online capacity by new entrants. Given the circumstances, a research based on identifying
existing small scale operations and finding what prompts consumers to purchase from such stores will
indeed give some insight regarding whether convenience plays any important role in purchasing
decisions of consumers in Australia.
Research Aim
The aim of the research is to identify the causes of consumer behaviour in making purchase decisions
from local convenience stores and whether such decisions are related to any forms of convenience or
is it due to other factors.
Research Objectives
The objectives of the research are as below:
1. To study current status of convenience

Taking a Look at Wikileaks
Wikileaks, cofounded in 2006 by editor in chief Julian Assange, is a site designed to announce and
publicize sensitive information. The goal of Wikileaks is to provide protection for journalists, citizens,
and anyone who might need to be protected from the free based or sensitive information they upload
to the site. Wikileaks is protected by a network of software, anonymous postal drops, and lawyers,
operating on a policy of secrecy to keep all of its posters safe from possible reprisals.
I believe Wikileaks is in the right, as it allows its users to expose sensitive information and secrets that
citizens need to know about. Governments have been criticizing some of the content posted, however,
there is little legally that they can do. Wikileaks is essentially another branch or avenue of the public
press, and there is no official secrets act to stop information from being posted. There are people doing
pre publication reviews of articles posted; people who have a vested interest in ensuring the accuracy
of the material.
In recent years, Wikileaks has acquired mixed public reception, receiving numerous awards and
appraisal, as well as harsh criticism. In 2008 and 2009, Wikileaks received the New Media Award, and
in 2010, it was listed as a website that could change the way the news works. It was praised as a tool
to empower citizens to voice their opinions and report the truth. However, the site received criticism
for defacing the value of a journalist. Journalists

Now, it is time to expand our business and become part of a successful, elite international company.
Based on my research and my experience, Canada should be the country to begin our global
expansion.
Problem
Although we are still making profits and leading the industry in the United States with our products,
our company is currently at a stale point in the market. The problem is we need to find a new market
to enter into in order to stay competitive in the industry. We need a diverse workforce to assist in
bringing new ideas to increase our company s competitiveness. Solution
The solution is to conduct business in Canada to increase income, gain international experience, and
obtain international relationships. This will be an opportunity for our company to increase profits and
open into a new era of growth. Our company can and will be profitable if the most effective area is
chosen.
Conclusion
From my research and experience, Canada is the most prominent selection for many reasons, but
mostly because of the availability of multiple global opportunities. Understanding the culture,
interactions, and they way they do business will allow us to be successful in beginning our
international expansion.

  • 2. Resilience Across Lifespan Resilience across a lifespan can happen different ways from physical development to cognitive development. We also have social and emotional development. Throughout this paper resilience will be applied to all of the above mentioned concepts. Resilience across a lifespan is described through theories, measures, and even personality characteristics. Resilience has also been applied to the impacts of disasters and traumatic experiences in which will also be touched on throughout this paper. Resilience is described as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or significant sources of stress (American Psychological Association, 2016). Resilience is an ordinary thing in human beings. It is often described as bouncing back, which refers to bouncing back from difficult times or situations. As a person grows older resilience grows as well. A person s past can most certainly affect how a person uses resiliency in the present. If a person is not affected negatively a lot in their past when it comes time for a person to bounce back, they will not bounce back as smoothly as a person who has had a very traumatic past and has learned how to bounce back in a smoother fashion. A person s past determines their resiliency in the present and a person s present determines their resiliency efforts in the future. Resiliency is different for each and every person. Resiliency also can grow with a person or can dissipate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Progressive Education Essay John Keating, a student at Welton Academy inspired his fellow classmates, to meet in caves and read challenging poetry of the past, not with flashcards, but with these words, Now, my class, you will learn to think for yourselves again. You will learn to savor words and language. No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world. Typically, students do not hear enough of this type of passion in a traditional classroom. However, a progressive classroom, be it a cave or college can inspire students to memorize facts, not because they have to, but rather because they want to for the betterment of humanity. John Dewey, another educational philosopher believed Education is a social process. Education is growth. Education is, not a preparation for life; education is life itself. (Inc.) He felt that learning took place only when students had internalized what they had gained through experience and practiced it in their own lives. In a progressive classroom, the teacher designs experiences for students with the idea that through experience, students build knowledge and skills. A society of individuals conforming to studying flashcards may be good, but a society of literate individuals consciously aware of why and how the facts on the flashcards and in mass media can solve new problems is better. Within this course, my classmates and I evaluated, tested and reviewed the health of sections 0 1050 ft of Traver Creek. Specifically gathering data on the Benthic populations, as well as their Taxa. The class of 2016 took detailed descriptions of the physical appearance of the creek and surrounding areas. We even tested the water to find necessary information on the health of the creek through our chemical tests. According to the 2016 Traver Creek Data of Sections 0 1050 ft Traver Creek is unhealthy. Traver Creeks Habitat Diversity grade is 2.5/4, specifically this states that in some areas the vegetation is less diverse and cannot absorb harmful chemicals before they get to the creek. These chemicals could harm the organisms greatly in the Creek. Embeddedness which displaces many organisms by removing their natural habitat, is at 2.7/4. This is strips many organisms of their grounds and nests as is becomes more and more scarce. The flow rate is at 2.22 ft/s this is a safe speed for the Creek it s not too fast that organisms get flushed downstream and it s not too slow that the organisms will suffocate. They were involving themselves in Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Guatemala. They were trying to convince Latin America that it was in their best interests to stay away from communist beliefs. America was afraid that if communism spread to the neighboring countries it would eventually come to the United States, so they felt it was their duty to prevent it from ever entering Latin America, to nip it in the bud . If they succeeded in stopping the advancement of communism to Latin America, they would not have to worry about communism spreading throughout the world. Genetics 382 Lab Report Genetics 382 Lab Report 1 Robert Kamil (Student #11) TA: Camille English, Section 4 Rutgers University, Spring 2017 Laboratory 4 Recombination Testing the Mode of Inheritance of Shaven Bristles in Drosophila Using FlyLab Objectives The motivation of this lab report is to use Mendel s Laws of Inheritance to analyze and predict the genotypes and phenotypes of an offspring generation (F2) after knowing the genotypes and phenotypes of the parent generation (F1). The hypothesis for this experiment is that the mode of inheritance for the shaven bristle allele in flies is autosomal recessive in both male and female flies. This, again, exhibits a 3:1 ratio of normal phenotype to affected phenotype. The expected and observed values were all computed on the FlyLab software. The degree of freedom in this experiment was 3. • 9. A Functionalist View Of Religion Religion is universal, but interpretations of the meaning of religions vary. There are several philosophers who interpreted religion in different manners, three of them being Tylor, Frazer, and Marx. Even though their ideals were different, they all three still held a general functionalist view on religion that religion served the purpose to comfort or control humans. On the contrary to the functionalist opinions of Tylor, Frazer, and Marx, my personal belief coincides mostly with that of Rudolf Otto. I interpret religion as a great, unexplainable mystery (that may or may not have to do with human function), and not solely the result of one s fears, one s intellect, or one s oppression. A functionalist view of religion revolves around one treating religion as if it were a logical, human operation that can be explained without spiritual connection, and Tylor, Frazer, and Marx all depend on using functionality to explain religion. Tylor believed that people invented religion because they feared death, and they wished to have peace of mind about the death of their ancestors. The fear that sprouted from the unknown, according to Tylor s philosophy, was consoled by the creation of religion. Frazer believed that religion progressed as people evolved into higher thinking creatures. Primitive humans, according to Frazer, believed in Animism, which is the concept that everything has a soul and is one with a god, whether it is a rock or a caterpillar. • 10. Correlation Between The Salaries Of Working Men And Women Wage differentials in the organization Although women have made rapid gains in their level of labor market activity, they have made much less progress in attaining wage parity with men(Smith and Ward 1989). That the career experiences and advancement of women is different from those of men has been documented across many professional areas, with most studies finding that men advance faster, further, and with greater compensation (e.g. Cohen Gutek 1991,Jagacinski et al 1987,Morgan et al 1993, Schneer Reitman 1995). Research has consistently found significant disparities between the salaries of working men and women (e.g. Corzine et al 1994, Stroh et al 1992).Often these differences are found even when controlling for education, age, experience, and performance (e.g. Cox Harquail 1991). To explain these salary differences, researchers have considered the influence of multiple roles.Apparently the number of roles may interact with sex, so that marriage and parenthood is associated with higher salaries for men but lower salaries for women (e.g. Cooney Uhlenberg 1991). Another hypothesis is that the gender wage gap is due to women s disinclination to negotiate over salary; however, empirical evidence fails to support this notion (Gerhart Rynes 1991). Finally,a number of researchers have studied the relationship between job evaluations and gender type of jobs, arguing that bias in job evaluations explains the lower salaries associated with female typed jobs (e.g. Mount ... Today, that number has dropped to 3.3 workers per retiree, and by 2025, it will reach and remain at about two workers per retiree (Social Security Reform Center Problem). The number of workers for each beneficiary dropped from 5.1 in 1960 to 3.3 in 2006. This is expected to decrease to 2.1 by 2030 (Klay Steen). Baby boomers are going to retire and Social Security begins to spend more on paying benefits than it receives in taxes in 2017 or 2018 (Social Security Reform Center Problem). This means Social Security will begin to handle very large funding problems because of the amount of people retiring and the worker/beneficiary ratio falling. This is caused by the increase of the payroll tax 17 times since 1935 (Epstein). Currently Social Security is not having any issues with payments. It lifts 1.3 million children and almost 13 million senior citizens out of poverty (Merino). The other side of the problem though is fairness. • 13. Using Art For A Message Hannah Tierney 18 November 2016 Using Art to Send a Message For centuries people have used art as a way to express the political views, or used artistic movements to express certain ideals. This can be seen in the idealized art of the Ancient Greeks, who strived to perfect the balance between man and nature, and portray harmony, balance, and democracy. In Nazi Germany, Hitler showcased art that was un German, anything reflecting Jewish or communist ideology, was displayed in the Degenerate art show. This movement was used as propaganda; Hitler showed the public all the art that was not German. Today, many artists mock the commercialization of the art world and society itself using pop art and othrr consumer trends in their work. In Ancient Greece, philosophy and ideology shaped the views of the people living in the first democratic state. The Greeks never established a single nation; instead, they lived in city states, and democracy began in Polis, later known as Athens. In Athens, artists strived to perfect their work and align it to the beliefs of the philosopher Pythagoras of Samos, who believed everything was based on mathematics and purification . The Ancient Greeks used their art to promote political, military, and religious ideology, depicting battle their victorious battles as though they were fought by the gods. Discuss the biological explanation for phobic disorders Discuss issues of reliability and validity associated with the classification and diagnosis of phobic disorders (24 marks) The biological explanation for the acquisition of phobic disorders establishes that phobias are caused by genetics, innate influences and the principles of biochemistry. This theory recognizes that an oversensitive fear response may be inherited, causing abnormal levels of anxiety. This is illustrated in the basis of inheritance, particularly the adrenergic theory that convicts that those who have an acquisition to phobic disorders consequently show high levels of arousal in the automatic nervous system, which leads to increased amounts of adrenaline, thus causing high levels of anxiety. Parallel to this, the focus on genetics is Particularly convicted in twin studies, which establish a comparison between monozygotic twins that are identical and dizygotic twins, which are opposingly non identical. This distinction can be identified in Torgersens study, which compared MZ and same sex DZ twins where one proband had an anxiety disorder, and it was discovered that such disorders were 5x more frequent in MZ twin pairs, who mutually shared identical genetics. This theory creates an issue, as it only looks at nature s impact as the root cause of phobic disorders and relishes in not accounting for environmental causes, which are posed by nurture. This aspect of nurture which is ignored can be questioned in the twin studies as although Torgersen found that identical twins who share genes are 5x more likely to share an anxiety disorder, it is unclear whether it is the nature of the genetic makeup which causes the disorder, or the nurture of the twins, as they would have both gone through the same things in their environment causing the contamination effect. In a country like Nigeria, there is focus on economic growth on the sustaining of their people, not the interest of the environment, however this trend is beginning to change as the country is moving toward a future of power from alternative sources, such as solar power and wind power (Our Objectives, n.d.). Sustainable development, according to the Brundtland Report, meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to the meet their own needs. (IISD) The United Nations has been at the forefront of this drive for a more sustainable, namely with the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which highlight not only environmental aspects, but also societal (human right based) (e.g. No Poverty, focus on Gender Inequality). Prior to the creation of the SDGs, were the Millennial Development Goals (MDGs) during the beginning of the 21st Century, which eventually became the SDGs. The SDGs implemented several new points that seemingly filled the gaps , so to speak, left by the MDGs. These goals were adopted in September of 2015 with an expected fruition date of 2030 (Madeley 2015). The Constitutionality of Prayer in Public Schools Essay Many people agree against prayer in public schools, while others think that people should be able to express their religion in their own ways. In public schools, they are not allowed to hold prayers at all during the school day due to the mixed religion students that are attending the school. Over the past few years, this has become an extremely controversial issue in our nation. Many people find it proper to pray in school but many people also agree that it is extremely wrong and that if there is going to be pray in school, every religion should be addressed. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One major reason why prayer is not allowed in public schools is because people may find it offensive to them if they do not belong to they religion that the prayer is being said in. This has been an ongoing argument for many decades and it has not come to a conclusion yet. Everyone has their own beliefs and usually they do not affect others unless they are directed towards someone of another religion. If prayer is going to be formally present in public schools, that school should say a prayer in every religion. They could do this by having someone of each religion in that school come up with a new prayer each day. Another thing they could do is have a special prayer for each religion present whether it s a Catholic, Jewish, Islamic, or even Buddhist prayer. If you want your child to pray and learn a religion in school, send them to a private school that follows a certain religion and that have certain religious beliefs. A major reason why I m against prayer in public schools is because the public school system is created for all students and is paid for by tax payers and fellow citizens. I think that the public schooling system should remain neutral on religions issues die to the diversity of our students, tax payers, and our fellow citizens. It can be very difficult for children to talk about, or even acknowledge that this form of abuse is occurring. While there are rising numbers of child sexual abuse cases being reported within the United States, it is disheartening to know that there are even more cases that go unrecognized each year. The American Humane Association (2013) explains that According to the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System (NCANDS), an estimated 9.3 percent of confirmed or substantiated child abuse and neglect cases in 2005 involved sexual abuse (U.S Department of Health and Human Services, 2007). In comparison a high uncertainty avoidance indicates that a country is structured in a way to try as best as possible to be in control of the future. For instance, a high avoidance society has made advanced plans to take into account resources needed in a natural disaster. Spain scored an 86 for high uncertainty avoidance index. This means they have a set structure on dealing with unplanned events. Belanche Gracia et al (2015) stated, More pragmatic cultures (like Spain) tend to be more prepared for the future and value the present more than the past (p.281). This lesson will be taught during the month of October after students have gained prior knowledge through an insect unit that was taught the month before. (b.) The content object that I used in this lesson was for students to be able to identify important information about spiders. I think that providing students with background knowledge prior (teaching a month long unit on insects) would assist students when it comes time to do a unit on spiders. I think that the most challenging aspect for this lesson would be the vocabulary words. The vocabulary list that I have complied varies in difficulty and I believe that some of the words would be more challenging to some of the students. I would ensure that these words were taught previously in the insect unit in order for students to become familiar with these words. I would also have prior knowledge of my student s abilities and provide individualized word lists that match the student s ability. In addition, I would stock the student library with a variety of books about spiders that contain the vocabulary words, and utilize various center activities to reinforce the lesson objectives for this unit. A mental picture of infinite flowers is created, while shine and twinkle produce an image of light. Wordsworth uses the light imagery to link the two aspects of nature; the luminous stars of the night and golden daffodils of the day. The process of modernity is reactive; it s meaning is derived by a comparison with, and by rejection or negation of preceding agrarian and industrial societies. Traditional, or pre modern societies take as their basic unit the community or the collective. The family constitutes production and consumption as well as socialization, indicative of a rudimentary division of labour. Further, traditional societies facilitate a worldview that is wholly comprehensive. Durkheim describes this as the collective consciousness . People derive their outlook largely through the different ways that they interact with society, and because these societies have high degrees of similarity, and a shared set of moral values and beliefs, members experience the world in similar ways. In this contrasting view, modernization can be viewed as a process of individualization, specialization and abstraction. In the structure of modern society, the individual dominates the collective. The division of labour is complex. People become alienated from the process of production as specialization increases and their occupations become more specific, consequently disconnecting them from the products of their labour. Moreover, modern societies facilitate a worldview that is abstract. While traditional societies are based on similarity, modern societies are based on differences, thus differentiating the way ... SHAPE Shape is an important visual feature and it is one of the basic features used to describe image content. However, shape representation and description is a difficult task. This is because when a 3 D real world object is projected onto a 2 D image plane, one dimension of object information is lost. As a result, the shape extracted from the image only partially represents the projected object. To make the problem even more complex, shape is often corrupted with noise, defects, arbitrary distortion and occlusion. Further it is not known what is important in shape. Current approaches have both positive and negative attributes; computer graphics or mathematics use effective shape representation which is unusable in shape recognition and vice versa. In spite of this, it is possible to find features common to most shape description approaches Usually, Shape features can be extracted from an image by using two kinds of methods: contour and regions. Eventually the ban was abolished and the Nazi party was allowed to proceed with speeches and Nazi propaganda (Cmarada 25). Once the ban was lifted, the Nazi party began to have rallies to spread the ideals of the party (Cmarada ). The rallies took place when Germany was in their depression. This lead to more followers because they were in need of some kind of light that would help them throughout this terrible time. Hitler created scapegoats for why Germany had become in a depression, those scapegoats were the Jews (Cmarada 26 ).Hitler promised that he would solve the nations problems, with that he won the support of the masses (Cmarada 26). Hitler and the Nazis wanted to gain all the support they could, he wanted to address all the classes which included, German workers, businessmen, middle class citizens, artisans, the salesmen and shopkeepers, the Catholics, and the Bavarians (Cmarada 26). Hitler explained to each of these constituencies that their problems had been caused by the Jews and by the system and that they had two choices: resistance or death (Cmarada 26). • 43. Impact Of Convenience On Consumer Behavior Impact of convenience in the mind of consumers in making purchase decisions in Australia Introduction There have been drastic changes in the Australian retailing landscape. Though Coles and Woolworths are still the largest retailers, others like Aldi have made its way in increasing its market share. At the same time, local convenience stores still continue to function throughout Australia. It indeed comes to one s mind as to what are the factors that are contributing to such consumer behaviour; whether it is some special skills of the local convenience stores or whether the prices offered are better (which seems like a less possible scenario) or is it just the convenience of the stores being located nearby which makes such model operational even in the wake of intense competition between the majors and addition of online capacity by new entrants. Given the circumstances, a research based on identifying existing small scale operations and finding what prompts consumers to purchase from such stores will indeed give some insight regarding whether convenience plays any important role in purchasing decisions of consumers in Australia. Research Aim The aim of the research is to identify the causes of consumer behaviour in making purchase decisions from local convenience stores and whether such decisions are related to any forms of convenience or is it due to other factors. Research Objectives The objectives of the research are as below: 1. To study current status of convenience ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Taking a Look at Wikileaks Wikileaks, cofounded in 2006 by editor in chief Julian Assange, is a site designed to announce and publicize sensitive information. The goal of Wikileaks is to provide protection for journalists, citizens, and anyone who might need to be protected from the free based or sensitive information they upload to the site. Wikileaks is protected by a network of software, anonymous postal drops, and lawyers, operating on a policy of secrecy to keep all of its posters safe from possible reprisals. I believe Wikileaks is in the right, as it allows its users to expose sensitive information and secrets that citizens need to know about. Governments have been criticizing some of the content posted, however, there is little legally that they can do. Wikileaks is essentially another branch or avenue of the public press, and there is no official secrets act to stop information from being posted. There are people doing pre publication reviews of articles posted; people who have a vested interest in ensuring the accuracy of the material. In recent years, Wikileaks has acquired mixed public reception, receiving numerous awards and appraisal, as well as harsh criticism. In 2008 and 2009, Wikileaks received the New Media Award, and in 2010, it was listed as a website that could change the way the news works. It was praised as a tool to empower citizens to voice their opinions and report the truth. However, the site received criticism for defacing the value of a journalist. Journalists ...
